Since 2007 Potential Difference Inc. has been developing and ReGenXtra Inc. in now commercializing the ReGenX innovation for electric vehicles that will allow EVs to recharge themselves as they drive. The innovation is called Regenerative Acceleration. Regenerative Acceleration is the exact opposite of regenerative braking which is currently used to recharge an EV's batteries while also decelerating the EV. Deceleration of the EV during the regenerative braking mode of operation is caused by the EV’s motor which is used as a generator to capture some of the vehicle’s inertia and convert it back into electrical energy which is then stored in the EV’s batteries for reuse.
