23. LA MASIA
LA MASIA, today
La Masia, located next to the stadium, is the heart of the
Barça youth system. This emblematic building forms part
of the history and heritage of Futbol Club Barcelona, and
is an ancient country residence built in 1702.
LA MASIA, in detail
• Inauguration date: 26 September 1966
• Area: 610 m2
• Capacity: 60 boys (12 sleep at La Masia itself and
another 48 in other rooms situated around the stadium).
• Facilities: kitchen, dining room, living room, library,
office, bathrooms, showers and four large dormitories
with dressing rooms.
LA MASIA of the 21st century
The building that over the last three decades has been
synonymous with Barça’s rising stars will no longer
accommodate youth players, who will eventually be moving
on to Sant Joan Despí. Before the end of the year work will
start on a new building

30. FCBESCOLA SPORTS PROGRAM
SPORTS RELATED CONSIDERATIONS:
•All of the pupils will take two training sessions a week on
alternate days. The duration of each session is 60 minutes
where work will be done on skills and tactics, and individual and
collective aspects.
•Goalkeepers will have one specific training session (1 coach
per 6 goalkeepers) and one other with the rest of the work
group.
•On Saturday all of the teams will play in an internal league
against the other teams at the same stage of the programme.
•The playing system we use is 1-3-2-1.
•The games are seven-a-side and are played 25 minutes each
way.
•The referees are trainees from the Federació Catalana de
Futbol.
•By means of these games the players will apply the skills and
tactics they have worked on during the week to real game
situations.
Pàgina 30
31. FCBESCOLA SPORTS PROGRAM
The sports programme is designed to meet skills and tactics based
objectives, which determine the organisation of the mesocycles and
training sessions.
There will be a total of 10 mesocycles all season. Mesocycle 1 we be
for evaluation, AND Mesocycle 10 will be more recreational and will
be used as a review .The remaining mesocycles will be made up of 5
microcycles.
The sporting objectives to be achieved function in parallel across
the 3 different stages. Nevertheless, the content to be worked on
and the training sessions will vary depending on the category.
The predominant methodology we will be using will be a global
methodology, in which work on the objectives always implies a
certain amount of decision making and where skills-based, tactical,
physical and psychological aspects are integrated.
We shall be recurring to analytical methodology and the systematic
repetition of the skills as we work on specific techniques.
During the initiation stage, greater use will be made of analytical
methods than will be made in later stages.
