The Laws On Curfews For Young Adults Under The Age Of 18
Midnight Memories We have all heard the saying, nothing good happens after midnight . Many of the
largest cities in the United States have enacted laws on curfews for young adults under the age of 18
years old. These laws are positioned to respond, in a positive manner, to the problems that arise when
minors are out at all times of the night. These problems can cause an unsafe environment for not only
the youth, but for the general public out late at night. Although curfews are not enacted in all major
cities, this law is initiated to protect minors because it aids in reducing crime; assisting parents in
setting boundaries for their children; and protecting non delinquents from being the victim of a crime.
In the United States, metropolitan areas consistently battle controlling the crime rate in their cities.
Crimes committed by minors during curfew hours make up 84 percent of the 88 percent of the crime
that take place during curfew hours (City Mayor). By placing a curfew on minors, we are getting them
off the streets that could be filled with career criminals. The law encourages minors to be in their
homes and in a safe environment instead of being influenced to participate in misguided activities
while being out at night. Some examples of misguided activities might be: drag racing, vandalism,
trespassing and drug use. In a new survey by the National League of Cities, 97 percent of cities and
towns with nighttime curfews report a drop in juvenile crime (Connect

Pros And Cons Of Inner Cities
Burdens of the Inner City One of the toughest tasks a young adult may have to face in their lifetime is
getting out off of the streets. There are many negative effects that come with growing up in the inner
city. Educational, psychological, and physical issues all certainly take a toll on an individual. There
are connections with bad education and the inner cities living in poverty. For starters, disadvantaged
neighborhoods are characterized by few well educated adults. This can make things for the youth
growing up in these bad areas much harder. If that is not enough, simply growing up in a poor
neighborhood decreases the chance of finishing high school. It is no secret that the crime rates in inner
cities are through the roof. What

Middle School Documentary Techniques
When we made our video we incorporated a few techniques one of them was only wanting them to
reply positively. This was because we only wanted to hear the good parts of middle school. When we
came up with the topic for our documentary, we had to decide if it was going to be subjective or
objective; we decided to choose objective. This is because we thought it would be easier to work with.
The documentary is mainly objective with a little bit of subjective in it. In the documentary, we
recorded it in a way so that we couldn t be seen. We said to everyone to wave and look at the camera
so that they seemed happier. We did this to change the opinion of the person who is watching it so that
they will think that this is how people act in middle middle school but in reality, this is not what
happens. The shots of the middle school also show parts of the building and some other teachers
which talk about what they do and who they are. When the teachers were discussing middle school,
they talked about the good things which influences the grade sixes. We did this to relate to them. ...

We also recorded the other main buildings when you re not in the middle school. We chose a lot of
teachers that were either the main teacher of a subject, or a Year 7 specialist teacher. We did this so
that the target audience would know where to go if they had something wrong. The reason why we
recorded Mrs Deer and Mr Collins, was so then the grade sixes knew what roles they did in our school
and if they needed to discuss anything they could go to them. We showed our video in this way so that
when it is being watched, it isn t too boring watching just teachers getting interviewed, but also other
places that the grade sixes are going to be taught and different teachers that they may not

A Compare and Contrast of Horror and Science...
The good thing about films is that we not only have the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of
different genres, but also compare them and understand their purpose in the world. The Horror genre
has used the basic principles throughout time, and as a result, films of this type have not proven to be
as timeless as another genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy. At first, these two genres might at times seem
similar as they have at several occasions been blended together, but their basic, common theme serves
different meanings about humans. I shall compare and contrast these two genres and focus on both
classic films and modern films. From the Horror genre perspective I shall discuss Psycho (1960) and
The Mist (2007), while in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre I will examine 2001: A Space Odyssey
(1968), Pan s Labyrinth (2006), and Serenity (2005). Although the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre and
the Horror Genre share some similarities, the differences lie in their focus on human progress.
The genres relationship lies in the danger of human lives in an unfamiliar milieu. There is a threat to
the lives of the characters whose fear and danger is a common element. The source of this can be from
both humans and imaginary monsters. The horror films Psycho and The Mist both have humans as the
real threat to the main characters. Schizophrenic Norman Bates in Psycho is a heinous, disturbed killer
who dresses up in woman s clothes when he is about to kill someone. The danger is first

French Revolution
French Revolution: The Influences
When the Enlightenment occurred, it established some modern day ideals such as religious toleration,
separation of powers, and natural rights. These Enlightened principles eventually spread throughout
France, causing the people to question the current state of their society, and ultimately causing the
French Revolution. Montesquieu and Voltaire were two very major Enlightenment figures whose
beliefs had a huge impact on the French Revolution. The ever growing middle class of France had
begun to have access to and absorb some writings and ideas of philosophes like Montesquieu,
Voltaire, Rousseau, and Diderot. In addition, the recent American Revolution proved to the people of
France that Enlightenment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Parkinson Disease Essay
Parkinson disease (PD), also referred to as Parkinson s disease and paralysis agitans, is a progressive
neurodegenerative disease that is the third most common neurologic disorder of older adults. It is a
debilitating disease affecting motor ability and is characterized by four cardinal symptoms: tremor
rigidity, bradykinesia or kinesis (slow movement/no movement), and postural instability. Most people
have primary, or idiopathic, disease. A few patients have secondary parkinsonian symptoms from
conditions such as brain tumors and certain anti psychotic drugs. The path physiology of Parkinson s

They may develop alone or in combination, but as the disease progresses, all are usually present.
There is no true paralysis. The symptoms are always bilateral but usually involve one side early in the
illness. Because the onset is insidious, the beginning of symptoms is difficult to document. Early in
the disease, reflex status, sensory status, and mental status usually are normal. Postural abnormalities
(flexed, forward leaning), difficulty walking, and weakness develop. Speech may be slurred.
Autonomic neuroendocrine symptoms include inappropriate diaphoresis, orthostatic hypotension,
drooling, gastric retention, constipation, and urinary retention. Depression is also prevalent. Client is a

Symptoms And Treatment Of Migraine
Pharmacological Treatment of Migraine
Chronic migraine is a significant disorder as approximately 2 percent of the world s population suffers
from it. In 2010 the World Health Organization ranked migraine as the 19th leading cause of medical
related disability in high income countries. (Young, 2014) Preventive treatments are often given to
patients with frequent migraine, which is considered to be more than four headache days per month.
Many migraine patients are prescribed medicines as a preventive treatment and a majority of drugs
used as migraine preventatives are actually medications developed to treat other disorders such as
certain antihypertensives, antidepressants, seizure medications, and even Botox. (Young, 2014) My
client, AB, has chronic migraine and also takes daily medications for migraine that are often used to
treat other disorders.
Patient Demographics and History
Upon interviewing, my client AB disclosed that she has chronic migraine headaches. My client is a 38
year old single white female, classified as middle class, who is a master level student. AB has full time
employment in an office and customer service setting. She stated that she has experienced migraines
since she was an adolescent. AB is taking three different medications including: gabapentin, 300 mg
via capsules am/pm four times a day, Citalopram, 40mg tablets once by mouth each morning, and

Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows
Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their
dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the
show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of us
are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance, some
examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality, and
violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and advertisements do
too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the dialogue occurring
between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are ways to unravel the sex
linked differences between characters in television programs; we can analyze the different forms in
which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and educational level individuals speak to
one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to demonstrate the sex linked differences
between a family and their gender roles and humor and drama are used to hide sexism. Furthermore,
the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many
television programs.
The television program: The Middle, is a sitcom based on a family (the Hecks) of five, whom are:
mother (Frankie, 52), father (Mike, 54), son (Axl, 23), daughter (Sue, 21),

Othello Racism Analysis
Isolation, by definition, represent the act of being separated from a general group. In William
Shakespeare s Othello, racism can be seen as a common thing throughout the dialogues in the play.
Almost every single character have made racial slurs towards Othello. The protagonist, Othello is seen
as an isolated individual from the rest of Venice due to his skin colour. Othello feels insecure about his
race. The antagonist, Iago is able to take advantage of Othello s insecurities and weak emotions by
endlessly convinces him about Desdemona s infidelity. Racism in his society and Othello s sense of
heroism contribute to his downfall. However, Othello s insecurity regarding his race is the tragic flaw
that caused his downfall, killing both himself and his loved wife.
Externally, In Othello society, other s racist comments against him incorporate some impact on
Othello s downfall. Characters such as Roderigo, Iago, and Brabantio referred Othello as an inhumane
being. Othello was known as the moor and thick lips by Iago and Roderigo. Almost everyone
discriminates Othello verbally because of his skin colour. Yet, Iago is the most racist towards Othello,
he attempted to aggravate Brabantio by telling him an old black ram (I, III,23) is making the beast
with two backs with your white ewe . Iago referred Othello as black and Desdemona as white, where
two of them contradict each other. Iago intended to upset Brabantio by using racist animal imagery to
prove to Brabantio about his daughter s elopement. We can see that Iago have no respect for Othello
as a person, but only sees him as a black animal. Nonetheless, Desdemona s father, Brabantio also
have a racist attitude towards Othello. Brabantio doesn t seem to believe that Othello won his daughter
over with his personality. He believes Desdemona is abused, stol n, corrupted by spells and medicine
(I, III,60 61). Brabantio considered her daughter s elopement unnatural because he just cannot believe
his daughter fall in love with what she feared to look on ( ). Others racist comment around Othello
exposes his inner insecurity step by step, up to a point that Othello can no longer take it and causes his
downfall.
Internally, Othello s insecurities about

Human Resource Frames
Change Analysis
Despite higher education institutions being a place of learning and reflection. The political and
symbolic frames captures most school s typical organizational life, which is steeped in structured
policies, roles and hierarchy; tradition, ceremonies and rituals (Bolman Deal, 2013). Due to these
complexities COCE deans do not prescribe to human resource frame relationships (Bolman Deal,
2013). Too often, Bolman and Deal (2013) assert organizations rely on a limited perspective in
addressing organizational problems and challenges. Such limited perspectives, Bolman and Deal
(2013) conclude hinders an organization s abilities to develop effective solutions for complex

enrollment forecast) and policies (e.g. grading, curriculum). This frame is often described by Bolman
and Deal (2013) as the factory or machine the element of organizations need to exist for effectiveness.
Because this frame is more or less one sided, and emphasizes rules and policies dictated from COCE
leadership to its adjuncts. It is not the most appropriate framework for a collaborative efforts, such as a
professional learning community (PLC).
Human Resource Frame
The human resource frame tends to be most challenging for COCE deans, as well as many other
leaders. The human resource frame provokes the concept of an organizations being like an extended
family with needs, feelings, skills, and limitations (Bolman Deal, 2013). It is within this frame COCE
structurally inclined leadership collide with the tenants of relationship and family of the human
resource framework (Bolman Deal, 2013). Because the human resource framework is grounded in
compassion, support and empowerment. This is the frame and leadership characteristics needed to
support and successfully lead the action plan to establish a PLC for

Kant Duty
It begins with a presented value of intrinsic goods, through analysing the relationship between the
good will and duty. He claims there is nothing that can be held be held to be good, without its
limitations except good will itself. For example, an act of courage, can be an act of arrogance or
carelessness unless the good will is there to correct their influence on the mind. Thereby it corrects the
entire principle of action. Furthermore, the good will will is only good through its willing, therefore it
does not need an end or purpose. It is higher than any will that is brought about by inclination and
eventually the good will presents itself like a shining jewel. The aim of course is enjoying life and
happiness, but reason is not best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Universal Law
If duty really is a concept that contains legislation for our actions, then it has to be equal amongst all
rational beings, If something is equal, it is universal.
Kant argues the will must be commanded by the principle; one must be able to will that a maxim of
our action should become a universal law. This principle is only accomplishable through the practice
of reason free from any incentive or influence, something the hypothetical imperative cannot do. In
practice, this means if genocide was a universal law, the human race would soon become extinct, thus
it is not a practical principle. Whereas acting in accordance to prolonging and sustaining human lives
is a universal law everybody should desire. Therefore, the good will is guided by rationale.
ii. Humanity
To expand on the first formulae, the good will is made objective by humanity. Like the categorical
imperative, rational beings exist as an end in itself, they are directed toward themselves as well as
other rational beings. Therefore rational beings should not treat themselves or others as a means. This
is consistent with the examples mentioned by Kant such as the suicidal man treating himself as a
means in order to escape from his condition, or the dishonest man abusing the trust of others through
his false promises, abusing others as a means for their own financial

Nearly every author creates a title for their work that overall reflects the ideas and thoughts they are

The Secret History Was Written By Procopius, And Emperor...
Theodora was the Empress of the Byzantine Empire from 527, when she was crowned, until her death
in 548. Procopius was the appointed historian to record what was happening in the Empire, but mostly
to focus on Theodora and Justinian. The Secret History was written by Procopius, but not published in
the West until about a millennium after it was written. As it was a venomous pamphlet of dubious
merit , The Secret History is hardly a reliable historical source. It criticises Justinian and Theodora for
all of their actions as Emperor and Empress, as well as create a story, possibly based on nothing, about
the origins of Theodora. While Procopius is considered a significant historian for the sixth century, it
is notable that his treatment of Theodora is biased in an unfavourable way. Procopius adopts a
perceptibly hostile attitude toward Theodora. Much of this bias against Theodora can be explained by
Procopius view of women in power and gender roles.
As a woman in Roman society, Theodora would have been married and her life controlled by her
husband. As a woman in the imperial court, Theodora s power and influence over the general public
would have been restricted. Even with the limited public influence, there were ways for women to
demonstrate authority. One of the most common and traditional ways that women demonstrated power
in the sixth century was imperial patronage. Imperial patronage could include building a home for the
poor or a lavish church, having a cross

A Carbon Based Fuels And Uses Essay
Part A Carbon Based Fuels and Uses A carbon based fuel is any type of fuel thats energy is derived
from the burning of carbon or the oxidation of it. There are two main types of carbon based fuels,
Fossil fuels such as coal and Natural gas or Bio Fuels e.g Bioethanol. Bio fuels are procured from
recent growth of organic matter, the matter is harvested from crops or the cutting down of fast
growing trees and proceed into biofuels. Fossil fuels are from a prehistoric basis which the organic
matter has been subject to high pressure under the ground which has compressed it and turned the
matter into Coal and cried oil which can be later turned into petrols and propane via the process of
fractional distillation.
Coal;
Physical Properties
Colour; Coal is a non toxic solid found naturally in ground. It has black colour because of the carbon
in it. Coal is mainly a mix of carbon, water, some hydrogen, and oxygen. There are many different
kinds of coal. As well as the Hydrogen and Oxygen in coal, it contains some small amounts of
nitrogen, sulphur, and some other minerals. These are called impurities, the quality of the coal is
determined by the % of carbon in the coal the lower percentage means there are more impurities in the
coal.
Combustion Reactions/Chemical Properties

Post Operative Education for a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient

Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient
One of the most frightening medical diagnoses a patient can receive from a physician is a
malfunctioning heart, a diagnosis that will eventually lead to death if correction of the issue is not
attempted. The heart supplies the entire body with oxygenated blood in addition to requiring its own
supply of oxygen rich blood. This is why coronary arteries are vital to the hearts ability to pump. A
final option to correcting non patent coronary arteries is a surgical procedure, coronary artery bypass
grafting (CABG). Every year approximately 450,000 patients have CABG surgery in the United States
(Mullen Fortino O Brien, 2008). Based on continuing healthcare trends, more and more people each
year are having coronary artery issues causing the need for CABG surgery to rise. Also patient
demographics are changing, they are older, sicker, coronary artery blockage / damage is more
extensive, and likely have a decrease in functioning of the hearts ventricles (Sidebotham, McKee,
Gillham Levy, 2007). The nursing profession not only has a critical role in caring for these patients,
but also in teaching and educating them before and after the procedure. Education and teaching has
been implemented into evidence based practice for years to facilitate better patient outcomes. The goal

One Of The Main Problems With The Law Is Injustice In The
One of the main problems with the law is injustice in the criminal justice system. There are so many
innocent people serving time in jail. The criminal justice system in America was created to keep
communities safe, to respect and restore victims, and to return offenders who leave prison to be self
sufficient and law abiding. What the system has become is a monumental failure that our states and
nation can no longer afford. There has been a growth in crime, but that may be because of the growth
of technology and receiving information. Wrongful conviction and prison overcrowding are known as
major issues in the criminal justice system because prisoners are held liable for crimes they did not

According to statistics, Blacks have a disproportionate representation in the prison system. Some say
that Blacks and Latinos and more likely to be charged for a crime because of their race (Blumstein
p.39). Incarceration rates between Blacks and Whites are disproportionate, with a ratio of seven blacks
to one white. This is a profound example of racial discrimination (Gabbidon, and Greene). Most say
that the main cause of wrongful conviction is corruption in the justice system. The Justice System may
convict an innocent of a crime just so someone is held liable for said crime, and in order for them to
move on to the next case. We have all heard or read, whether on the news or in the paper, about
criminal cases where individuals are convicted of crimes and sometimes even given the death penalty;
and in most of these cases they were given a public lawyer, that may have been inexperienced with
these types of cases, or did not put as much work into the case as they should have. Which led to a
clearly innocent individual being held liable for a crime. Such incompetency on the part of a defense
attorney undoubtedly results in some wrongful convictions (Warner). Lives have been known to be
torn apart by prosecutorial misconduct. Numerous safeguards have been placed in our judicial system,
to help protect against wrongful convictions of innocent people. One of many protections our judicial
system provides to protect against wrongful convictions is the presumption

were very important, and with any large moment, there are struggles and gains. Money is a big role
that effects time periods, and the economy in each time will change the outcome to the time period.
The currency was split in two ways, with kings and nobles or the poor people desperately. The
Crusades helped bring in revenue to Eastern Europe through goods they brought back. The Crusades

crusades also had affects on feudalism. Thousands of barons and knights sold their plots of land so
they could go on the Crusades. Many more died in battle and their owned land would move up the

Textual Analysis Of Shrek
Animation has, in the past, generally been viewed by children, because of its childlike nature. In
recent years, animated film has broaden its audience with its caricaturized humor towards adults. With
its powerful, heart rendering, and emotive storyline, I believe that the animated film Shrek, has
captured many of its viewers hearts; and also prompted many concepts after it has been viewed, for
example that love is for anyone. Sound, editing, and setting, are some of the filmic elements that really
helped in establishing the plausibility of the story of animated film Shrek. Love, friendship, and
happiness is repeated throughout the film, to ensure that viewers recognize it as being the theme of the
story.

viewers close to the action so that they feel intimately involved. In the film, most of the shots are or
have an objective point of view and indirect subjective, and they continuously interchange between
each other.
There are many factors that work together to create rhythm: physical objects moving on the screen, the
movement of the camera, the musical score, the pace of dialogue, and the pace of the plot. Most of the
factors in the film Shrek are moderately fast in tempo, making the films rhythm range from medium

The Amontillado
In pace requiescat were the last words spoken by Montresor as he forced the last stone, which
separated him and the moribund body of Fortunato, into the wall. The story begins with a narration
from Montresor he claims that the thousand injuries of Fortunato he had borne, as well as the insults,
instigated his plan for revenge. He developed an ingenious plan which lead Fortunato to his demise.
Using the information he knows about him and the setting, he successfully executes his plan.
Montresor begins his plan at a carnival, in Italy, which takes place sometime before Lent. He leads
Fortunato into the catacombs below the carnival to show him the Amontillado that happens to be an
expensive wine. This was the first step of Montresor s plan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This too was another part of Montresor s plan by bringing him into the damp catacomb he began
coughing and to cure this he gave Fortunato a draught of the Medoc. Prior to entering the catacomb he
had already drank several cups of wine at the carnival so Montresor simply added to his drunkenness.
This made his plan to kill Fortunato easier for he was intoxicated and had no suspicion.
When they reached the end of the catacomb Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall and began
building a barrier which left him to die. He notices that Fortunato is no longer intoxicated for he began
to scream, however, Montresor lead him under the carnival for this purpose. The carnival is filled with
chatter and raucous which left them clueless the screaming of Fortunato. As others enjoyed themselves
at the carnival above Fortunato was suffocating in the catacomb below.
Years later Montresor, on his deathbed, reveals his plan of revenge, which he was so proud of. We
learn through this that was Montresor was a vengeful and resourceful person. From the carnival to the
catacomb just below it, he used every part of the setting to his advantage. Edgar Allen Poe s story, The

Art In Art
Throughout history, art has served as a photograph of the past. Art has helped us understand the past
and gave us clue on how the people on that era led their life. Art has also helped us understand each
era s beliefs and ideas. From the 400s through the early Renaissance, the majority of art in Europe was
rooted in Christianity. However, beginning with the Renaissance, art has become more secular. The
transforming power structure of Europe, the Scientific Revolution, and the Enlightenment have
contributed to the shift which resulted in a tension between the authority of the Catholic Church and
the secular European Monarchies. By looking at two arts from these era, we can see the political,
intellectual, and cultural changes in Europe. 1. The Transforming Power Structure of Europe (Church
vs Kings) In France, a portrait of Louis XIV by Hyacinthe Rigaud and the architecture of the palace at
Versailles shows the shift of power from the authority of the Catholic Church towards the secular
French monarchy. Under Louis XIV, France became an absolute monarchy where full power resided
with the king. As an absolute monarch, Louis was not subject to any constitutional limitations, leading
him to declare I etat, c est moi which means I am the state . He ruled by the concept of divine right
which means receiving his authority directly from God and refused to share authority with the church.
He became known as the Sun King and declared himself the center of the universe. In his

Many People Surmise That Products In Advertisements Do
Many people surmise that products in advertisements do what they promise to. The same people will
believe any claim to be true when the face of a authoritative figure like Kim Kardashian is included in
the advertisement. When the topic of fitness and health, self esteem, or self confidence is brought into
play, potential customers will readily buy into the probability that one product can positively and
effectively change their lives (without any knowledge that they are being manipulated by fallacies).
This is exactly what happened when Skechers released their Shape Ups trainer shoe in 2009, the

In the advertisement, Skechers claims that by wearing Shape ups a person will tone and develop

order for these claims to appear true and reliable, Skechers uses Kim Kardashian, to advertise the
Shape Ups campaign. By showing that Kim Kardashian wears Shape Ups, it imposes a correlation to
anyone viewing the advertisement that if she wears them and she is in good shape, then that will
inevitably happen to me. But that is simply not the case as evidence has come to show. Firstly,
Skechers claim to strengthen muscle is entirely false. Shape Ups do not tone or strengthen your lower
extremities like promised that statement alone is purely manipulative. In his article, Science Says:
Skechers Shape Ups Are Worthless Jeff Barnett writes, Every time it appeared research tests might

Okonkwo Violence Quotes
Violence is a key factor due to the way it contributes to the shaping of Chinua Achebe s novel, Things
Fall Apart. Okonkwo [is] a man of action, a man of war. (69). He is a man of bravery, loyalty, little
emotion, and a war like mindset. The novel focuses the changes of the Ibo clan in Nigeria during the

multiple scenes of horrific violence occur, which affect the outcome of the events that result from this
violence. The significance of violence befalls in the novel, but particularly during the killing of

Brokeback Mountain compare and contrast Essay
First, I applaud the movie for daring to tell a story that nobody else presumed creating. Even in 2005,
this was a pretty prohibited thing to discuss. To its credit, the movie follows the original story fairly
close, but a details were left out that made all the difference.
The short story Brokeback Mountain (1997) written by Annie Proulx received a lot of attention when
it was first published in the New Yorker. The story is about the relationship between Jack Twist and
Ennis Del Mar, two cowboys who develop a forbidden love for each other and have to live separate

shows them getting personal, even discussing the possibility of running away together. The movie did
not discribe the emotional intimacy Jack and Ennis shared even before they had sex. Ennis s emotional
transformation in Jack s company appears in the book with the line, Ennis, riding against the wind
back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken light, thought he d never had such a good time, felt he
could paw the white out of the moon. The deep friendship does not reveal in the movie, the way the
book does, which was the foundation for their love. (Walford, Compare/contrast the book vs. the

Alma take a quite big part in the short story, because of Ennis and his importance. As I mentioned
before, Ennis is more well portrayed than Jack and this makes Ennis and Alma s relationship more
evident. In December Ennis married Alma Beers and had her pregnant by mid January. This shows
how Alma is mentioned only because of Ennis. Whereas Jack and Laureen s relationship in the short
story is insignificant and unutterable. I got a boy, said Jack. Eight months old. Tell you what, I married

Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
Ever since the nineteen eighties people, usually politicians and the news media, have been quick to
blame video games for societal woes, saying violence in video games causes violent behavior and
makes people anti social. Some have even argued video games cause racism, sexism, and cause health
problems, but most research that points towards video games being bad are inconsistent and
sometimes contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor video games, even though
they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and because they are an art form they
are a form of media and are protected under the first amendment. Violent video games do not cause
real world violence like any art form they only mirror the violence of the real world, and it is
contradictory to think that they cause actual violence. Video games have even been shown to be
healthy, they relieve stress and increase hand eye coordination, and are a positive, non violent form of
relieving aggression in a way that does not cause physical harm to others.
The ESRB video game rating system which was introduced in the nineteen nineties and it is not
legally binding and yet most retailers treat video games as if they were alcohol and tobacco corrupting
the youth. Unlike tobacco and alcohol they do not put toxic chemicals into a person s body unlike any
sort of drug legal or otherwise. While a person can die from lack of physical activity video games
alone cannot kill someone, since video

Technology In The Book 1984 By George Orwell
An average American citizen can be caught on camera more than 75 times a day. (Crime Feed)
Cameras are everywhere, from the time someone leaves their home to the time they arrive to work,
and surveillance becomes a natural way of life. Today s advance in technology has thrust the universe
nearer to the world of Big Brother, a symbol in George Orwell s novel 1984, written after World War 2
with foreshadows of the world s technological future, and imitates the novel through the government s
abilities to spy on individuals. Orwell s prediction for the year 1984 is faultless because it directs the
future toward an imprisoned world through technology as today, although the novel was published in
1949. When Big Brother s world and today are compared, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

helicopters seek lives in immense districts, additionally drones substituted helicopters assembling an

For this experiment, two ionic, NaCl and KI, and two molecular, fructose and sucrose, unknown
compounds were determined based on molecular weight. This was calculated when the freezing points
were depressed in aqueous solutions. The resulting freezing points helped determine the four
unknowns by calculating the various solutions molecular weights from the average normalized
freezing points. After this, the percent error was calculated by comparing the data from the experiment
to the normalized freezing points. One thing during this experiment that could be changed is to use a
bigger beaker and vial, so it is easier to stir when the ice begins to form at the bottom of the vial. This

First, the normalized freezing points for unknowns 3 and 4 were 2.8 degrees Celsius and 3.0 degrees
Celsius, respectively. The van t Hoff factor was one because the solid does not break apart, and it
remains as one particle. The molalities were 1.505 mol/kg for unknown 3 and for unknown 4 it was
1.613 mol/kg. In the second step, the unknown number of moles of each unknown was determined by
using molality. This was calculated by dividing the molality determined in step one by 20 mL of water
solvent. The volume was converted by knowing that 1 L = 1 kg. With this, the volume was determined
by dividing 20 mL by 1000 mL to get .02 L This allowed for both kg units to cancel out and to only
leave moles of solute. The number of moles calculated for unknown 3 was .0133 moles and for
unknown 4 it was .0124 moles. These values were then used to find the molecular weight by dividing
the theoretical mass of 5 g which was given by the number of moles calculated. The calculated
molecular weights for unknowns 3 and 4 were 375.94 g/mole and 403.23 g/mole, respectively. The
actual molecular weight for fructose is 180.17 g/mole and for sucrose it is 342.2965 g/mole. With this,
unknown 3 was fructose and unknown 4 was sucrose. Therefore, with this information, the unknown 3
used within the experiment was fructose. As shown in Figure 3, the temperatures are recorded during

Why did Gladstone describe his first ministry as an era of Liberation?
Gladstone first came into power in 1968 aged 59. He dominated British politics from 1868 1894.

therefore he was able to describe his first ministry an era of Liberation.
Gladstone s first ministry was a success. There was aspects to the Liberal that may have

The University act wasn t liberating or popular. However that does not mean that all the unpopular
acts were unpopular. The army reform was very unpopular among the Aristocracy, the Senior Officers

reform in the army. One of the reasons was the Crimean War 1854 6 in which mare soldiers were
killed from disease than the ones that were killed in the war. The second reason was the France
Prussian war 1870. In the war the German army was much disciplined and so do extremely well in the

Titanic Case Analysis
Titanic Case Analysis
Estate of Hans Jensen vs. The White Star Line
Facts:
The White Star Line was owner of the Titanic, which was the largest and most luxurious ship in the
world at the time. On April 10th, 1912, the Titanic left from Southampton, England with 2,227
passengers aboard bound for New York City. On April 14th, the ship struck an iceberg off the coast of
Newfoundland and sank about 2 ½ hours later. Passengers, mostly women and children, were loaded
into lifeboats, however only 705 passengers survived as many lifeboats left partially full.
Hans Peder Jensen and his fiancé Carla Christine Jensen were passengers from Denmark on the

The first element of negligence is duty of care. According to the plaintiff, White Star Line, which
owns and operates Titanic, owes a duty of care to all of the passengers on the ship. All of the
passengers relied upon White Star Line to take them to New York safely. Therefore, the crew on
Titanic owed duty of care to not only provide food and comfort, but more importantly safety to the
passengers. Breach of duty occurs when defendant s action has created risk of harm to others. In this
case, the plaintiff believes that the crew of the Titanic behaved in unreasonable manner in many ways.
The actions of the crew members resulted in the Titanic struck a large iceberg and eventually sank
causing large casualties, so the duty of care was breached.
Whether the breach of duty has caused the plaintiff s injury is the third element of negligence.
Requirements for causation are causation in fact and proximate cause. Causation in fact is determined
by the but for test, which means if it was not for the defendant s breach of duty, harm or injury would
not have occurred. Proximate cause is when the connection between the action (breach of duty) and
the injury is strong enough to impose liability. Another issue that needs to be considered is
foreseeability because the defendant s action must have created a foreseeable risk of injury. In this
case, the crew of Titanic was navigating the ship during the night at high rate of speed in water with

As an illustration about Alexis description of the Tyranny of the Majority, first we need to understand
his suspicions of its ability to protect the minority. The fact that the majority agree with slavery is
proof that majority rule did not protect the minorities. Alexis also viewed people as seeking their own
personal goal, and if placed in a position of power over the majority there could be a conflict of
moralities. For example, those in the majority who have the financial and educational advantage over
those in the minority, can maintain this advantage over those in the minority. One of the most

more modern writers, Robin Sharma and Louise Hay. As a mother, she has a masters in Language and
Philosophy. She is constantly reading whether it is an article on her phone, a daily newspaper or a
book that she has bought yesterday. She would always sit on the brown leathered sofa and wear her
golden framed glasses on and a very focused yet relaxed expression. As I sat watching her read, she
became my role model. I would settle down next to her, wearing fake black framed glasses with no
lenses and read, just to seem a little bit like her. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It felt very comfortable and I was feeling euphoric. I knew that my favorite subject was English.
By the age of 10, I was fluent in three different languages. Every time I attended Schools in
Kazakhstan, In the class of 32 pupils who grew up together from the first grade. In their sight, I was an
abnormal child. Furthermore Russian schools (schools that are bilingual Russian and Kazakh) had a
very rigorous environment, and a difficult attitude towards learning, at least that was my opinion. I
had to write two essays on Kazakh and Russian, reside a one page poem by Alexander Pushkin, and
learn the new math solving strategies, due to a parallel study of geometry and algebra. With the
overwhelming course work, my schedule was somewhat like this:
8am Russian language ; 9am Russian literature ; 10am Kazakh language ; 11am Kazakh literature ;
12pm 12:30pm Lunch ; 1pm 3pm Geometry and Algebra ; 4pm British English; 5pm Geography ;
6pm History of Kazakhstan
I faced an oblivion. I wrote Russian words with English letters or English words with Kazakh letters.
The grammar for every language is completely different and has individual complexity, for example:
Russian has Cyrillic alphabet, three genders for verbs and nouns. Kazakh has Cyrillic alphabet, soft
and strong vowels, and complex sentence structure. Even though I was made fun of, I would
continually ignore my odious peers. I

Writing is accomplished by activating the associated control transistor, draining the cell to write a 0 ,
or sending current into it from a supply line if the new value should be 1 . Reading is similar in nature;
the transistor is again activated, draining the charge to a sense amplifier. If a pulse of charge is noticed
in the amplifier the cell held a charge and thus reads 1 , the lack of such a pulse indicates a 0 . The 1T
1C storage cell design in an FeRAM is similar in construction to the storage cell in widely used
DRAM in that both cell types include one capacitor and one access transistor. In a DRAM cell
capacitor a linear dielectric is used whereas in an FeRAM cell capacitor the dielectric structure
includes ferroelectric material, typically lead zirconate titanate (PZT). Operationally writing of
FeRAM is similar to DRAM. Reading, however, is somewhat different than in DRAM. The transistor
forces the cell into a particular state, say 0 . If the cell already held a 0 , nothing will happen in the
output lines. If the cell held a 1 , the re orientation of the atoms in the film will cause a brief pulse of
current in the output as they push electrons out of the metal on the down side. The presence of this
pulse means the cell held a 1 . Advantages: The key advantage to FeRAM over DRAM is what
happens between the

Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle Shapes American...
Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle Shapes American Culture
Darkness...lowers upon my mind, and the times are so hard they sicken my soul, says Washington
Irving in a letter to a friend (Letters 446). This statement reveals Irving s intense emotional condition,
and in many ways indicates the intense social atmosphere as well as his personal conflicts, during the
composition of The Sketch Book. Upon the bankruptcy of his family s fortune, of which he depended
on solely for his monetary security, Irving found himself flung into the galling mortifications of
independence (Letters 487). In response to this trauma, he sailed to England to regain his composure
and hopefully secure his stake as a writer so he could provide for ... Show more content on

And this incapacitation resulted in great despondency until one night when speaking to Van Wart (the
owner of the house where he stayed). Upon Van Wart s attempts to cheer him, Irving s mind suddenly
let loose and thoughts came with a rush, faster than he could write them (Williams 168). This is an
excerpt describing the night he wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle :
...for being fettered so long by the ice of long mental despondency. Until morning and through the
small hours he wrote. At morning the June sun shone through the shutters, revealing him still bent
over his table. The Van Warts at breakfast looked up to see him enter, radiant, the fresh manuscript in
his hand. He said it had all come back to him; Sleepy Hollow had awakened him from his long dull,
desponding slumber; and then he read the first chapters of Rip Van Winkle (Williams 169).
The composition of these sketches was sporadic in nature and it seems as if the Muses opened up their
floodgates on Irving that night. This aspect of the composition of these stories, as well The Sketch
Book as a whole, adds somewhat of a romantic atmosphere on Irving as a writer. Because so many
want to believe that authors somehow transcend normal human efforts, and their hands and minds are
just vessels for the words, thoughts, and

A Study On Hybrid System
CHAPTER 2
LITREATURE REVIEW
2. 1 Literature Overview
The following literature survey for the current report consists of various papers on hybrid system
published in the IEEE conferences and the journals. The conclusions and explanation is also described
2.2 Early Developments
2.2.1 Comparison of simulation results of three level five level H bridge multilevel inverter by mamta
N. kokate
The conventional two levels Inverter have many limitations for high voltage and high power
application. Multilevel inverter becomes very popular for high voltage and high power application.
The multilevel inverter is started with the three level converters. The elementary concept of a
multilevel converter to achieve higher power to use a series of power semiconductor switches with
several lower voltage dc source to perform the power conversion by synthesizing a staircase voltage
waveform. However, the output voltage is smoother with a three level converter, in which the output
voltage has three possible values. This results in smaller harmonics, but on the other hand it has more
components and is more complex to control. In this paper, study of different three level inverter
topologies and SPWM technique is explain and SPWM technique has been applied to formulate the
switching pattern for three level and five level H Bridge inverter that minimize the harmonic distortion
at the inverter output. This paper deals with comparison of simulation results of three levels and five

Descriptive Essay On Guest House
Crash A typical day at my grandparent s cabin in the Black Hills consists of a lot of sitting around and
just hanging out. Some days the whole family will go on a four wheeler ride for most of the day.
Sometimes we will go do something like visit a cave or drive to Rapid City or Custer or Hill City or
some other town out there. My Grandma cooks the best meals. You look forward to every single meal
knowing that it was going to be a great one. My dad s side of the family includes Stetson and Nick.
Not many people outside of my family have been to my grandparent s cabin, so I ll give you a little
description, it s not very small. The main house consists of 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, plus a lot of
space in the kitchen and living room. Next, you have a smaller guest house which consists of 3
bedrooms and 1 bathroom, plus a garage.
So Stetson, Nick, and I always hangout together out there and do the same things. We sleep in one of
the guest house rooms where there are 3 beds with a TV. One of the beds is a full size bed where
Stetson sleeps, and Nick and I sleep in 2 twin size beds. However, the twin size beds will give you a
massage and can sit up and lay down. During the day we usually lie around or ride four wheelers
around the area.. However, on this particular day, things turned out a little different than we expected.
In 2012, the weekend of Sturgis, the entire family decided to take a trip out to the Hills. Porter, my
brother, brought along a friend, Braedon Wulf. At the

Self Reflection
Coming into a college writing course, I did not expect it to be easy. Throughout high school essays
were very easy to write due to teachers cutting way too much slack and handing out easy grades.
Writing has always been difficult for me, but I feel this is because I have not been challenged yet to
demonstrate my full writing ability. I had yet to develop my own voice as a writer. Throughout this
course, I was met with many challenges to bring out the true writer inside of me and because of this, I
was ultimately able to grow as a writer. The essays that I have written throughout the WRC 1013
course demonstrate that I have developed better annotation skills, communication skills and personal
responsibility skills; however, I still need to improve in proofreading and learning how to receive
more revisions from my peers.
After going through my essays, one self reflection throughout my papers I was able to gather was my
growth in developing good annotation throughout my chosen sources. For example, in my first paper
Behind the Screen VS. The Real World , my annotation and gathering information from sources was
very poor. This is shown in the essay where I completely stated the opposite of what Rita Dove was
trying to say in her piece Loose Ends . I state that, As you can see, this is one of many reasons as to
how so much screen time can have a negative influence on people which is what Rita Dove is
implying in her article ( Behind the Screen Vs. The Real World 2). This

  • 2. The Laws On Curfews For Young Adults Under The Age Of 18 Midnight Memories We have all heard the saying, nothing good happens after midnight . Many of the largest cities in the United States have enacted laws on curfews for young adults under the age of 18 years old. These laws are positioned to respond, in a positive manner, to the problems that arise when minors are out at all times of the night. These problems can cause an unsafe environment for not only the youth, but for the general public out late at night. Although curfews are not enacted in all major cities, this law is initiated to protect minors because it aids in reducing crime; assisting parents in setting boundaries for their children; and protecting non delinquents from being the victim of a crime. In the United States, metropolitan areas consistently battle controlling the crime rate in their cities. Crimes committed by minors during curfew hours make up 84 percent of the 88 percent of the crime that take place during curfew hours (City Mayor). By placing a curfew on minors, we are getting them off the streets that could be filled with career criminals. The law encourages minors to be in their homes and in a safe environment instead of being influenced to participate in misguided activities while being out at night. Some examples of misguided activities might be: drag racing, vandalism, trespassing and drug use. In a new survey by the National League of Cities, 97 percent of cities and towns with nighttime curfews report a drop in juvenile crime (Connect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pros And Cons Of Inner Cities Burdens of the Inner City One of the toughest tasks a young adult may have to face in their lifetime is getting out off of the streets. There are many negative effects that come with growing up in the inner city. Educational, psychological, and physical issues all certainly take a toll on an individual. There are connections with bad education and the inner cities living in poverty. For starters, disadvantaged neighborhoods are characterized by few well educated adults. This can make things for the youth growing up in these bad areas much harder. If that is not enough, simply growing up in a poor neighborhood decreases the chance of finishing high school. It is no secret that the crime rates in inner cities are through the roof. What ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Middle School Documentary Techniques When we made our video we incorporated a few techniques one of them was only wanting them to reply positively. This was because we only wanted to hear the good parts of middle school. When we came up with the topic for our documentary, we had to decide if it was going to be subjective or objective; we decided to choose objective. This is because we thought it would be easier to work with. The documentary is mainly objective with a little bit of subjective in it. In the documentary, we recorded it in a way so that we couldn t be seen. We said to everyone to wave and look at the camera so that they seemed happier. We did this to change the opinion of the person who is watching it so that they will think that this is how people act in middle middle school but in reality, this is not what happens. The shots of the middle school also show parts of the building and some other teachers which talk about what they do and who they are. The reason why we recorded Mrs Deer and Mr Collins, was so then the grade sixes knew what roles they did in our school and if they needed to discuss anything they could go to them. We showed our video in this way so that when it is being watched, it isn t too boring watching just teachers getting interviewed, but also other places that the grade sixes are going to be taught and different teachers that they may not ... • 5. A Compare and Contrast of Horror and Science... The good thing about films is that we not only have the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of different genres, but also compare them and understand their purpose in the world. The Horror genre has used the basic principles throughout time, and as a result, films of this type have not proven to be as timeless as another genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy. At first, these two genres might at times seem similar as they have at several occasions been blended together, but their basic, common theme serves different meanings about humans. I shall compare and contrast these two genres and focus on both classic films and modern films. From the Horror genre perspective I shall discuss Psycho (1960) and The Mist (2007), while in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre I will examine 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Pan s Labyrinth (2006), and Serenity (2005). Although the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre and the Horror Genre share some similarities, the differences lie in their focus on human progress. The genres relationship lies in the danger of human lives in an unfamiliar milieu. There is a threat to the lives of the characters whose fear and danger is a common element. The source of this can be from both humans and imaginary monsters. The horror films Psycho and The Mist both have humans as the real threat to the main characters. Schizophrenic Norman Bates in Psycho is a heinous, disturbed killer who dresses up in woman s clothes when he is about to kill someone. The danger is first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of us are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance, some examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality, and violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and advertisements do too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the dialogue occurring between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are ways to unravel the sex linked differences between characters in television programs; we can analyze the different forms in which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and educational level individuals speak to one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to demonstrate the sex linked differences between a family and their gender roles and humor and drama are used to hide sexism. Furthermore, the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many television programs. The antagonist, Iago is able to take advantage of Othello s insecurities and weak emotions by endlessly convinces him about Desdemona s infidelity. Racism in his society and Othello s sense of heroism contribute to his downfall. However, Othello s insecurity regarding his race is the tragic flaw that caused his downfall, killing both himself and his loved wife. Externally, In Othello society, other s racist comments against him incorporate some impact on Othello s downfall. Characters such as Roderigo, Iago, and Brabantio referred Othello as an inhumane being. Othello was known as the moor and thick lips by Iago and Roderigo. Almost everyone discriminates Othello verbally because of his skin colour. Yet, Iago is the most racist towards Othello, he attempted to aggravate Brabantio by telling him an old black ram (I, III,23) is making the beast with two backs with your white ewe . Iago referred Othello as black and Desdemona as white, where two of them contradict each other. Iago intended to upset Brabantio by using racist animal imagery to prove to Brabantio about his daughter s elopement. We can see that Iago have no respect for Othello as a person, but only sees him as a black animal. Nonetheless, Desdemona s father, Brabantio also have a racist attitude towards Othello. Brabantio doesn t seem to believe that Othello won his daughter over with his personality. He believes Desdemona is abused, stol n, corrupted by spells and medicine (I, III,60 61). Brabantio considered her daughter s elopement unnatural because he just cannot believe his daughter fall in love with what she feared to look on ( ). • 12. Kant Duty It begins with a presented value of intrinsic goods, through analysing the relationship between the good will and duty. He claims there is nothing that can be held be held to be good, without its limitations except good will itself. For example, an act of courage, can be an act of arrogance or carelessness unless the good will is there to correct their influence on the mind. Thereby it corrects the entire principle of action. Furthermore, the good will will is only good through its willing, therefore it does not need an end or purpose. It is higher than any will that is brought about by inclination and eventually the good will presents itself like a shining jewel. The aim of course is enjoying life and happiness, but reason is not best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Universal Law If duty really is a concept that contains legislation for our actions, then it has to be equal amongst all rational beings, If something is equal, it is universal. Kant argues the will must be commanded by the principle; one must be able to will that a maxim of our action should become a universal law. This principle is only accomplishable through the practice of reason free from any incentive or influence, something the hypothetical imperative cannot do. In practice, this means if genocide was a universal law, the human race would soon become extinct, thus it is not a practical principle. Whereas acting in accordance to prolonging and sustaining human lives is a universal law everybody should desire. Therefore, the good will is guided by rationale. ii. Humanity To expand on the first formulae, the good will is made objective by humanity. Like the categorical imperative, rational beings exist as an end in itself, they are directed toward themselves as well as other rational beings. Therefore rational beings should not treat themselves or others as a means. This is consistent with the examples mentioned by Kant such as the suicidal man treating himself as a means in order to escape from his condition, or the dishonest man abusing the trust of others through his false promises, abusing others as a means for their own financial ... • 15. The Secret History Was Written By Procopius, And Emperor... Theodora was the Empress of the Byzantine Empire from 527, when she was crowned, until her death in 548. Procopius was the appointed historian to record what was happening in the Empire, but mostly to focus on Theodora and Justinian. The Secret History was written by Procopius, but not published in the West until about a millennium after it was written. As it was a venomous pamphlet of dubious merit , The Secret History is hardly a reliable historical source. It criticises Justinian and Theodora for all of their actions as Emperor and Empress, as well as create a story, possibly based on nothing, about the origins of Theodora. While Procopius is considered a significant historian for the sixth century, it is notable that his treatment of Theodora is biased in an unfavourable way. Procopius adopts a perceptibly hostile attitude toward Theodora. Much of this bias against Theodora can be explained by Procopius view of women in power and gender roles. As a woman in Roman society, Theodora would have been married and her life controlled by her husband. As a woman in the imperial court, Theodora s power and influence over the general public would have been restricted. Even with the limited public influence, there were ways for women to demonstrate authority. One of the most common and traditional ways that women demonstrated power in the sixth century was imperial patronage. Perrin Remington College School of Nursing Post Operative Education to a Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient One of the most frightening medical diagnoses a patient can receive from a physician is a malfunctioning heart, a diagnosis that will eventually lead to death if correction of the issue is not attempted. The heart supplies the entire body with oxygenated blood in addition to requiring its own supply of oxygen rich blood. This is why coronary arteries are vital to the hearts ability to pump. A final option to correcting non patent coronary arteries is a surgical procedure, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Every year approximately 450,000 patients have CABG surgery in the United States (Mullen Fortino O Brien, 2008). Based on continuing healthcare trends, more and more people each year are having coronary artery issues causing the need for CABG surgery to rise. Also patient demographics are changing, they are older, sicker, coronary artery blockage / damage is more extensive, and likely have a decrease in functioning of the hearts ventricles (Sidebotham, McKee, Gillham Levy, 2007). The nursing profession not only has a critical role in caring for these patients, but also in teaching and educating them before and after the procedure. Education and teaching has been implemented into evidence based practice for years to facilitate better patient outcomes. The goal of this literature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Art has also helped us understand each era s beliefs and ideas. From the 400s through the early Renaissance, the majority of art in Europe was rooted in Christianity. However, beginning with the Renaissance, art has become more secular. The transforming power structure of Europe, the Scientific Revolution, and the Enlightenment have contributed to the shift which resulted in a tension between the authority of the Catholic Church and the secular European Monarchies. By looking at two arts from these era, we can see the political, intellectual, and cultural changes in Europe. 1. The Transforming Power Structure of Europe (Church vs Kings) In France, a portrait of Louis XIV by Hyacinthe Rigaud and the architecture of the palace at Versailles shows the shift of power from the authority of the Catholic Church towards the secular French monarchy. Under Louis XIV, France became an absolute monarchy where full power resided with the king. As an absolute monarch, Louis was not subject to any constitutional limitations, leading him to declare I etat, c est moi which means I am the state . Some have even argued video games cause racism, sexism, and cause health problems, but most research that points towards video games being bad are inconsistent and sometimes contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor video games, even though they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and because they are an art form they are a form of media and are protected under the first amendment. After this, the percent error was calculated by comparing the data from the experiment to the normalized freezing points. The van t Hoff factor was one because the solid does not break apart, and it remains as one particle. The molalities were 1.505 mol/kg for unknown 3 and for unknown 4 it was 1.613 mol/kg. In the second step, the unknown number of moles of each unknown was determined by using molality. This was calculated by dividing the molality determined in step one by 20 mL of water solvent. The volume was converted by knowing that 1 L = 1 kg. With this, the volume was determined by dividing 20 mL by 1000 mL to get .02 L This allowed for both kg units to cancel out and to only leave moles of solute. The number of moles calculated for unknown 3 was .0133 moles and for unknown 4 it was .0124 moles. These values were then used to find the molecular weight by dividing the theoretical mass of 5 g which was given by the number of moles calculated. The calculated molecular weights for unknowns 3 and 4 were 375.94 g/mole and 403.23 g/mole, respectively. The actual molecular weight for fructose is 180.17 g/mole and for sucrose it is 342.2965 g/mole. With this, unknown 3 was fructose and unknown 4 was sucrose. All of the passengers relied upon White Star Line to take them to New York safely. Therefore, the crew on Titanic owed duty of care to not only provide food and comfort, but more importantly safety to the passengers. Breach of duty occurs when defendant s action has created risk of harm to others. In this case, the plaintiff believes that the crew of the Titanic behaved in unreasonable manner in many ways. Proximate cause is when the connection between the action (breach of duty) and the injury is strong enough to impose liability. With the overwhelming course work, my schedule was somewhat like this: 8am Russian language ; 9am Russian literature ; 10am Kazakh language ; 11am Kazakh literature ; 12pm 12:30pm Lunch ; 1pm 3pm Geometry and Algebra ; 4pm British English; 5pm Geography ; 6pm History of Kazakhstan I faced an oblivion. I wrote Russian words with English letters or English words with Kazakh letters. The grammar for every language is completely different and has individual complexity, for example: Russian has Cyrillic alphabet, three genders for verbs and nouns. Kazakh has Cyrillic alphabet, soft and strong vowels, and complex sentence structure. Even though I was made fun of, I would continually ignore my odious peers. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Writing is accomplished by activating the associated control transistor, draining the cell to write a 0 , or sending current into it from a supply line if the new value should be 1 . Reading is similar in nature; the transistor is again activated, draining the charge to a sense amplifier. If a pulse of charge is noticed in the amplifier the cell held a charge and thus reads 1 , the lack of such a pulse indicates a 0 . The 1T 1C storage cell design in an FeRAM is similar in construction to the storage cell in widely used DRAM in that both cell types include one capacitor and one access transistor. In a DRAM cell capacitor a linear dielectric is used whereas in an FeRAM cell capacitor the dielectric structure includes ferroelectric material, typically lead zirconate titanate (PZT). Operationally writing of FeRAM is similar to DRAM. Reading, however, is somewhat different than in DRAM. The transistor forces the cell into a particular state, say 0 . If the cell already held a 0 , nothing will happen in the output lines. If the cell held a 1 , the re orientation of the atoms in the film will cause a brief pulse of current in the output as they push electrons out of the metal on the down side. The presence of this pulse means the cell held a 1 . Advantages: The key advantage to FeRAM over DRAM is what happens between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle Shapes American Culture Darkness...lowers upon my mind, and the times are so hard they sicken my soul, says Washington Irving in a letter to a friend (Letters 446). This statement reveals Irving s intense emotional condition, and in many ways indicates the intense social atmosphere as well as his personal conflicts, during the composition of The Sketch Book. Upon the bankruptcy of his family s fortune, of which he depended on solely for his monetary security, Irving found himself flung into the galling mortifications of independence (Letters 487). In response to this trauma, he sailed to England to regain his composure and hopefully secure his stake as a writer so he could provide for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And this incapacitation resulted in great despondency until one night when speaking to Van Wart (the owner of the house where he stayed). Upon Van Wart s attempts to cheer him, Irving s mind suddenly let loose and thoughts came with a rush, faster than he could write them (Williams 168). This is an excerpt describing the night he wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle : ...for being fettered so long by the ice of long mental despondency. Until morning and through the small hours he wrote. At morning the June sun shone through the shutters, revealing him still bent over his table. The Van Warts at breakfast looked up to see him enter, radiant, the fresh manuscript in his hand. He said it had all come back to him; Sleepy Hollow had awakened him from his long dull, desponding slumber; and then he read the first chapters of Rip Van Winkle (Williams 169). The composition of these sketches was sporadic in nature and it seems as if the Muses opened up their floodgates on Irving that night. This aspect of the composition of these stories, as well The Sketch Book as a whole, adds somewhat of a romantic atmosphere on Irving as a writer. Because so many want to believe that authors somehow transcend normal human efforts, and their hands and minds are just vessels for the words, thoughts, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Study On Hybrid System CHAPTER 2 LITREATURE REVIEW 2. 1 Literature Overview The following literature survey for the current report consists of various papers on hybrid system published in the IEEE conferences and the journals. The conclusions and explanation is also described 2.2 Early Developments 2.2.1 Comparison of simulation results of three level five level H bridge multilevel inverter by mamta N. kokate The conventional two levels Inverter have many limitations for high voltage and high power application. Multilevel inverter becomes very popular for high voltage and high power application. The multilevel inverter is started with the three level converters. The elementary concept of a multilevel converter to achieve higher power to use a series of power semiconductor switches with several lower voltage dc source to perform the power conversion by synthesizing a staircase voltage waveform. However, the output voltage is smoother with a three level converter, in which the output voltage has three possible values. This results in smaller harmonics, but on the other hand it has more components and is more complex to control. In this paper, study of different three level inverter topologies and SPWM technique is explain and SPWM technique has been applied to formulate the switching pattern for three level and five level H Bridge inverter that minimize the harmonic distortion at the inverter output. This paper deals with comparison of simulation results of three levels and five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Descriptive Essay On Guest House Crash A typical day at my grandparent s cabin in the Black Hills consists of a lot of sitting around and just hanging out. Some days the whole family will go on a four wheeler ride for most of the day. Sometimes we will go do something like visit a cave or drive to Rapid City or Custer or Hill City or some other town out there. My Grandma cooks the best meals. You look forward to every single meal knowing that it was going to be a great one. My dad s side of the family includes Stetson and Nick. Not many people outside of my family have been to my grandparent s cabin, so I ll give you a little description, it s not very small. The main house consists of 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, plus a lot of space in the kitchen and living room. Next, you have a smaller guest house which consists of 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, plus a garage. So Stetson, Nick, and I always hangout together out there and do the same things. We sleep in one of the guest house rooms where there are 3 beds with a TV. One of the beds is a full size bed where Stetson sleeps, and Nick and I sleep in 2 twin size beds. However, the twin size beds will give you a massage and can sit up and lay down. During the day we usually lie around or ride four wheelers around the area.. However, on this particular day, things turned out a little different than we expected. In 2012, the weekend of Sturgis, the entire family decided to take a trip out to the Hills. Porter, my brother, brought along a friend, Braedon Wulf. At the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Self Reflection Coming into a college writing course, I did not expect it to be easy. Throughout high school essays were very easy to write due to teachers cutting way too much slack and handing out easy grades. Writing has always been difficult for me, but I feel this is because I have not been challenged yet to demonstrate my full writing ability. I had yet to develop my own voice as a writer. Throughout this course, I was met with many challenges to bring out the true writer inside of me and because of this, I was ultimately able to grow as a writer. The essays that I have written throughout the WRC 1013 course demonstrate that I have developed better annotation skills, communication skills and personal responsibility skills; however, I still need to improve in proofreading and learning how to receive more revisions from my peers. After going through my essays, one self reflection throughout my papers I was able to gather was my growth in developing good annotation throughout my chosen sources. For example, in my first paper Behind the Screen VS. The Real World , my annotation and gathering information from sources was very poor. This is shown in the essay where I completely stated the opposite of what Rita Dove was trying to say in her piece Loose Ends . I state that, As you can see, this is one of many reasons as to how so much screen time can have a negative influence on people which is what Rita Dove is implying in her article ( Behind the Screen Vs. The Real World 2). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
