Longing For The Sea Green Deep
Longing for the Sea Green Deep Love, like anything else, is born irrevocably from chance. The
infinite decisions made each day by each person are what govern the world and it s from this mess,
this entanglement of choices that we then make our own. All of human history is wound up in itself,
and no one event can accurately be viewed in isolation. To trace a line from the beginning of time to a
single occurrence and describe that chain as inevitable would be an impossible task. But with this
model of coincidence and a fundamental lack of recurrence everything is, as Kundera would put it,
unbearably light. How can we possibly find any meaning, any truth, any beauty in a world filled with
insignificances so light that they may as well have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Kundera correctly points out, there s something unbearable in the thought that a love that feels so
necessary could just as easily have never have occurred at all. Tomas gives us two opposing ideas,
there s the Es muss sein that he looks for in his love with Tereza, but also the phrase Einmal ist
keinmal...(What happens but once, might as well have not happened at all) (8). For Kundera,
coincidence is proof of lightness, since the singularity of experience is lightness, and coincidence
betrays that singularity, telling us that in any alternate turn of events (a different coincidence) things
could have gone a different way. He presents two systems, one in which fate controls our actions, and
a greater meaning exists, and another in which our lives are meaningless because of their abrupt and
coincidental nature. This second system is the one Kundera tells us exists, but just like Tereza and
Tomas, Kundera tells us we re driven toward the meaning fate provides: We all reject out of hand the
idea that the love of our life may be something light or weightless; we presume our love is what must
be, that without it our life would no longer be the same; we feel that Beethoven himself, gloomy and
awe inspiring, is playing the Es muss sein! to our own great love (35). What we want in life, and in
love, more than anything else is

Nightcrawler Analysis
Nightcrawler is set in modern Los Angeles and Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a young man
desperate for work. One late night he witnesses an accident and sees a group of men recording the
whole thing. The camera crew are called stringers. Stringers films car crashes, fires, and murders, and
sells that footage to TV news stations. Bloom finds his calling and gets good at it. He gets really good
at it to a point that he is committing crimes to get footage.
The purpose of local television news is to provide viewers with information about their community. To
do this successfully, they report unique local crimes that are not from national news. The news exists
for the people. They are the ones that consume it.
Nightcrawler illustrates that murders in wealthy neighborhoods receive the ... Show more content on

He interferes with crime scenes in order to get the best possible footage that he can sell.
Because Lou is desperate for money, the line between regular member of society and sociopath
becomes blurred. Lou is committing the acts of crime because the news wants the better footage.
Lou would not have a job if the people did not want to see the graphic images. News were meant to
inform the public, but Lou is turning it into a profitable business.
Nightcrawler illustrates that fear generates the most revenue for local news stations. When the primary
focus of news stations is to scare the community, it is no longer news.
Lou Bloom becomes obsessed with the idea of recording the perfect crime footage and making money
by selling it to the local news channels. Lou is committing crimes for the news stations, but the news
is wanting the footage because the common people want it.
The news stations want higher ratings, and Lou wants higher pay with his footage. Eventually, Lou
reaches his limit causing him to cross the line. The media needs to have a balance; without it they
become greedy. The movie illustrates a cycle of

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease ( Gerd )
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) Introduction: It is important to know that GERD is defined
by consensus as a disease comprising symptoms, end organ effects and complications related to the
reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus, oral cavity, and / or the lung (Katz et al., 2013).
According to the Montreal Definition, which is global evidence based consensus, GERD is a condition
which develops when the reflux of stomach contents causes troublesome symptoms and/or
complications (Vakil et al., 2006). Most of the patients with GERD fall into 1 of 2 categories: erosive
esophagitis or nonerosive reflux disease (NERD). The 2 main phenotypes of GERD appear to have
different pathophysiological and clinical characteristics. Furthermore, NERD and erosive esophagitis
clearly diverge when it comes to response to antireflux treatment. NERD patients have a significantly
lower response rate to proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy, and consequently they constitute the
majority of the refractory heartburn group (Hershcovici and Fass, 2010). Since most of symptomatic
patients do not have mucosal breaks or other oesophageal injuries at endoscopy, expressions such as:
non erosive reflux disease (NERD) or even functional heartburn have been introduced, reflecting the
trial made to redefine more accurately the GERD concept and in order to characterize GERD as
divided in separate entities rather than a continuous spectrum (Hershcovici and Fass, 2010). NERD
has been defined as the

ING5 Case Study
The ING (INhibitor of Growth) family of genes and proteins (ING1 ING5) was identified in 1996,
from PCR mediated subtractive hybridization between a normal mammary epithelial cell strain and
several transformed breast cancer cell lines, followed by an in vivo functional screen for
tumourigenesis1. The ING proteins target histone acetyltransferase (HAT) and histone deacetylase
(HDAC) complexes to the H3K4me3 mark, altering histone acetylation and gene expression2. ING4
was identified by computational analysis and is expressed in various tissues; also several splice
variants and transcripts were described for this protein3 5. The ING5 protein of the ING family, was
described by computational homology search and shares a high amino acid ... Show more content on

Also, due to the presence of the LID in all INGs, we will study if ING5 and ING4 are capable of
interacting with Lamin A in differentiating stem cells and the importance of this interaction to stem
cell differentiation.
To achieve these objectives, we will use three different mouse embryonic stem (ES) cell lines (R1, D3,
E14), already present in the lab. In ongoing studies, it was noted that these cells presented all five of
the ING genes with altered expression when they were induced to differentiate. We will first study if
altering ING5 and ING4 expression using siING5 and siING4 to decrease it and pCI ING5, pCI ING4
to increase levels, will affect differentiation and the self renewal rate of these lines. We will use sphere
formation assays to assess self renewal. We will also induce differentiation with these different
expression constructs, thus measuring the influence of these proteins in the process. To determine the
degree of differentiation with varying expression of the ING genes, we will use flow cytometry to
follow changes in stem cells markers, such as OCT4, OLIG2 and Nestin16.
Previous studies from our group already described the LID and the interaction of several ING proteins
with Lamin A12. In the conditions used in this study, ING4 was co precipitated with Lamin A.
However, even though ING5 presents the LID, it was not co precipitated12. In this work we aim to
evaluate the effects of the possible interaction between the ING4 and

Research Proposal On The Veil
Research Proposal Muslims and the Veil
Coming the 19th century, a new type of clothing made its way to the Muslim society, this being the
veil. A veil is a piece of more or less transparent material, used to conceal a woman s face and head (
Veil ). After the acceptance of the veil into society, the initial use was to protect women and their
modesty and virtue. However, as time went on, the veil became more of a tool for Muslims to express
their cultural identity. There are multiple different types of veils, or hijabs, including the Khimar,
Chador, Niqāb, and the Burqa ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). Even though they
are different, they all serve the same purpose of protecting women and their modesty and virtue.
The incorporation of the veil in Muslim society dates back to the 19th century, but has originally
started in the middle east ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). As a matter of fact, as
religion and culture spread, so did the veil, eventually making its way to Southeast Asia. The veil
started as a way of protection for women, to protect their modesty and virtue. Surprisingly, this belief
goes back to the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam, which said that women should be modest.
Additionally, this was a universal message, that women should follow these standards ( Muhammad
and Women. ).
The meaning of the veil has changed over time with politics, history, and its significance has never
been static or monolithic (E. Sanders). Like

Widom And Kuhns
For this week s research assignment, the class was asked to review Widom and Kuhns article
Childhood victimization and subsequent risk for promiscuity, prostitution, and teenage pregnancy: A
prospective study (1996). The authors wanted to determine if there was any direct correlation between
victims of childhood abuse and/or neglect and increased risk for promiscuity, prostitution, and teenage
pregnancy. Widom and Kuhns were hoping to show that being a victim of abuse and/or neglect
demonstrated an increased risk of sexually transmitted diseases, premature parenting and the
continuation of the abuse/neglect cycle from one generation to the next. In examining this article, we
will focus on the research design that was utilized, data gathering ... Show more content on

Going into the experiment, they were under the impression that childhood victimization played an
intricate role in promiscuity, prostitution, and teenage pregnancy. After carefully stating their
hypotheses, naming their variables and gathering their data, they were quite surprised to learn that
their study revealed that being a victim of abuse and/or neglect did not increase the risk of promiscuity
and teenage pregnancy. For female subject matters, childhood victimization did increase their risk of
becoming a prostitute. Although extremely tedious and time consuming, properly perusing through a
research study can benefit not only the researcher but the criminal justice professional as well.
Understanding the process of research methods is perhaps the most difficult subject matter to teach in

One Punch Man
Being a comic book and manga reader, I always fell in love with the plot, read the words and skim
through the drawings without stopping to think about the symbolism of the drawings on the pages.
While reading McCloud s Understanding Comics and observing Molly Bang s theories on shapes and
lines, my mind has opened a broader understanding of what is right in front of me, when I m reading a
manga or a comic book. To begin with, in chapter four, McCloud talks about how some artists use
lines, multiple images or streaking to show motion. In the manga One Punch Man the artist Yusuke
Murata shows Saitama s movement for the serious hop attack with streaking and multiple images, to
show the different ways Saitama is approaching his opponent. Also, you can imply Molly Bang s
theory on diagonal shapes that show tension or motion in which Yusuke uses both (Look at picture
#1). You can see how under Saitama there are also pointy edges that go diagonally so one can feel
threatened as Molly Bang said. Also you can clearly see the many silhouettes of Saitama to show his
special attack much clearer.
Second, Molly Bang and Scott McCloud both touch base with color. How the darker color is
associated with evil like in this picture (Look at picture #2). You can see the dark circles under his
eyes and how the gang ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McCloud points out how manga really stands out in this category because they mix realism with
cartoon features in humans because you can better find details of the character or the villain. For
example in One Punch Man, every single page goes from cute cartoony Saitama to Marvel also calls
me a superhero! Which I find pretty amazing and it helps the story line flow more together since this
manga is about an ordinary man with superpowers (Look at pictures 3 and

Similarities Between The Minister s Black Veil And Sinners...
There are a few similarities between The Minister s Black Veil and Sinners in the Hand of an Angry
God. Sinners in the Hand of Angry God is written by Jonathan Edwards it is a six hour speech about
how sinners should come to God. The Minister s Black Veil is written by Nathaniel Hawthorne a short
story about how everyone sins and hides behind a black veil. He has changed himself into something
awful, only by hiding his face .
The Minister Black Veil is the most effective story. Although Jonathan Edwards gave a six hour
speech MBV is the most effective because he taught a lesson without saying a word. When man does
not vainly shrink from the eye of his creator , loathsomely treasuring up the secret of his sin ; the deem

One thing both of the stories have in common is that there main character is the Minister . The two
Mister s both question the death of the conjugation and also there faith .The minster in SHAG is
different because he is more angry and emotional with how he gets his message across . The Minister
in MBV is different because he gets his message across in a calm and mysterious way . The sovereign
pleasure of God , for the present stays his rough wind; otherwise it would come with fury , and your
destruction would come like a whirlwind , and you would be like the chaff of the summer threshing
floor In this statement you can tell that the Minster is angry because the Saints take God for granted
and he really wants them to get their life together. Covered with his Black Veil, he stood before the
chief magistrate , the council, and the representatives and wrought so deep an impression that the
legislative measures of tat year were characterized by all the gloom and piety of our earliest ancestral
sway . This statement proves that the Minster from MBV was very calm with his

The Creation Of Mickey Mouse In The 1920 s
The 1920s, nicknamed the roaring 20s, was a time of new dance, clothing, and cartoons. People doing
the Charleston, woman daring society by dressing in heels and dresses, and people creating exciting
new cartoons. Betty Boop, Felix the Cat, Bugs Bunny, and of course Mickey Mouse were all popular
cartoons in the 1920s. Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney and was arguably the most famous
cartoon character in the 20s. Disney created Mickey Mouse and produced the first full length animated
movie (Schickel). During this time one of the greatest cartoon icons was created by Walt Disney after
his distributor stole his first character and it led to the creation of the most recognizable cartoon
character, Mickey Mouse.
Before Walt Disney s creation of Mickey Mouse he went through some struggles. He did not always
own his own business. He worked with a small group of men, who abandon him (Watts, 25). They
abandon him due to the fact the business was falling apart and running out of money. After being
abandoned, he sought out for work as a cartoon artist for two newspaper companies but was turned
down both times. After job hunting for many months, Disney befriended Iwerks and began working on
his next idea: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a year though the contract expired (Watts, 29). Disney traveled to New York to negotiate a new
contract with Mintz. He asked Mintz for more money per cartoon, but Mintz offered him less and said
to take it or leave. Disney declined as he felt it was a bad deal, and Mintz claimed Oswald as his own
saying it was property of Universal Pictures (Watts, 29). Disney got nothing for his own character,
After his character was stolen he was heartbroken. He did not give up though, he then started
brainstorming on his next character that would change his

Australian Government Policy Essay
Australian Government Policy
The first English settlement in Australia was established in 1788. Before this the Aborigines lived in
the land in harmony. However, after the English arrived, the two different cultures were in close
contact and had to determine how to coexist. White Europeans did not respect the Aborigines right to
the land and it s resources. With brutal force, they took control of the land and claimed it as their own.
Australians then developed their own policies on how to deal with the Aborigines, which, as you can
expect, bettered their own way of life. There are three historical phases of Australian governmental
policies: dispossession, segregation, and assimilation. There are also some recent policies that have ...

Aborigines
There were no Aborigines when the Europeans first landed in Australia. There were approximately
600 different groups of indigenous people that had the same technology and social system, yet differed
by their geographical location, linguistic system, kin, and a variety of other factors. These peoples are
classified into one generalized group as a result of their shared historical experience of treatment by
Europeans (Reece, 1999).
The Aborigines have a long standing presence in Australia. Research has determined that they
occupied the land approximately 70,000 to 175,000 years before the British colonization. It is
estimated that in the 1770 s, there were from 500,000 to one million Aboriginal people living in
Australia. Presently, there are 300,000 Aborigines living in there (Fletcher, 1999). Most of the original
populations were nearly destroyed within one to two generations of British colonialism. This
reduction in numbers is due to the history of new disease, poor access to health care, malnutrition,
violence, and social dislocation (Markus, 1994).
Government Policies
Aborigines and Europeans have been in coexistence since the first British arrival. The new Australians
developed policies that set the rules on what to do with the Aborigines and how they were to be
treated. Over time, these governmental policies have changed as Australian attitudes, values, and
desires have

Personal Statement On Employee Management
Last week I had two shadowing experiences that fell in line with my competencies and two
experiences that did not, but were still extremely important to client management. I worked alongside
the Sales Coordinator Ksenia, the Convention Sales Manager Teagan, the Banquet Manager Luis, and
the Sales Manager Ashley. Last Monday (09/21/15) I had the pleasure of learning the BEO system for
Marriott with the Sales Manager Ashley. Marriott full service hotels do not use Delphi for their BEO s,
instead they use a B.E.O. software specific to Marriott called C.I.T.Y. This is a very difficult software
to operate, and can take months to be completely trained in. Ashley (Sales Manager in charge of BEO
s) who is new to the company and the area was happy to share the knowledge she did know. She didn t
have a full BEO implementation to show me, but she did have a small piece to show me which I found
very interesting. For this specific meeting group, they were have a 3 day meeting that required a
continuous beverage package priced by consumption. C.I.T.Y. is interesting in that it didn t offer an
option to select the continuous beverage package; instead each beverage type had to be selected and
set to price by consumption. Although this was time consuming task, I was able to quickly pick up the
procedure and input the beverage for the last full day of the meeting. This experience lined up
perfectly with my chosen competency Banquet and Catering Sales: Planning Coffee Breaks.

The Controversy Of Medical Marijuana
The topic of medical Marijuana brings much controversy when discussing amongst people that are for
it or against it. Medical Marijuana has been the heated topic of discussion for the past few years now
mainly for it s medical benefits and the fight to decriminalize the herb.
There have been many miracle stories that support the idea of legalizing it for its medicinal purposes.
One story that brought much attention to the issue was how the strand, Charlotte s Web™ , that is
increasingly changing many people s lives, became known.

The Scientific Revolution and The Enlightenment Essay
The Scientific Revolution and The Enlightenment In the 17th Century, there was much controversy
between religion and science. The church supported a single worldview that God s creation was the
center of the universe. The kings and rulers were set in their ways to set the people s minds to believe
this and to never question it. From these ideas, the Enlightenment was bred from the Scientific
Revolution. Nicholas Copernicus was the first to question the universal truths and teachings of the
church. He devised a theory that the earth along with the other planets revolved around the sun. This
theory disagreed with Aristotle and the old teachings that the universe revolved around the earth, and
that man was the center of the universe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
iii Galileo Galilei was also a supporter of the Copernican Theory. Galileo believed the earth, and other
planets, rotated on its axis around the unmoving sun. He used his new invention of the telescope to
prove Copernicus theory. With the telescope, Galileo found sunspots on the earth s moon, which gave
proof to him that the heavens were not perfect and changeless but were more like the changeable
earth. iv He also discovered Jupiter and the four moons that revolved around it. He only discovered
one moon revolving around the earth. Galileo therefore stated if Jupiter were to revolve around the
earth, then the earth would have to have at least four moons, and it doesn t. v The Church objected
Galileo s theory because the Bible said the sun moved through the sky. Being totally rejected by the
church, Galileo was forced to take back what he had written and was also prevented from any further
teachings of his theory. Galileo was condemned by the Catholic Church for his ideas. The Church
succeeded in silencing Galileo but couldn t stop the advancements in science. The goal of the
Scientific Revolution was to glorify God by showing universality by which nature operates.
Traditional Christians felt the new scientific breakthroughs were contradictory to God. They believed
these theories took away from the belief that God s creation was the center of the universe. From the

what happened on the night of Matthew s assault, addressing the issue of gay hate crime. The play

I had worked hard to develop my skills and incorporate theatre techniques. For example, during
rehearsals, I struggled with realism within my acting. However, this immensely improved due to
rehearsal and other practitioners. In adding realism within my performance, my characters became
believable and authentic which the audience could then identify. During this production I also
improved my ability to multi role, which is extremely difficult to achieve. When establishing character
s, I ensured there was a strong difference between each of their traits. In adapting my realism and
multi rolling abilities the audience could see a strong change of character. There are certain elements
of my performance, which I would have liked to improve on such as costume change. During a scene I
had to undertake a quick costume change which I was not prepared for. This was challenging,
although I could have improved if I had more time to rehearse my costume changes. I would have
liked to add more movement within my scenes, this would have given my characters more in depth
personality traits. Finally, to improve my performance I could have rehearsed my lines on a regular
basis. In doing this would have released stress and I would have been more confident throughout the

Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Christian Counseling

Summary The author of this book Mark McMinn explains how psychology, theology, and spirituality
can all be integrated into Christian counseling. He discusses the difference between the three
overlapping principles. He wrote this book especially for Christian counselors, pastors, as well as
students so that they may clearly understand the meaning of the three principles, allowing them to
apply it to everyday problems. The main question this book poses to answer is, How does a Christian
counselor integrate their faith into a counseling session in a way that can be beneficial to their clients.

McMinn 2011, lets us know that spirituality and psychology have to be used together in order for us to
have a accurate sense of self, accurate awareness of need, and healing relationships.
Concrete Responses
After reading this book , I mostly thought about how I first integrated my faith with my personal
relationships. I have been Christian for a couple of years now, but every person I get close to or friend
I have are not all Christian. Therefore, I had to learn how to not let their habits influence me with what
I do and say. I have friends that smoke, get drunk, curse, and many other things that I find not to be
Christian behavior. These were once things that I also had taken part in, so continuing our friendship
and letting go of bad habits was a struggle for me. Integrating my new life with my old life was
changeling because I was always told that your are the company that you keep. I had to make sure I
didn t get myself into situations that could hurt me in the long run. I was set on continuing the
friendship I had and remaining a Christian as well. I can remember the first time my faith was tested.
It was around five months after I changed my life around. I was invited to go out to the movies and
out to eat with a big group of friends. Being that it was only a dinner and a movie, I assumed it would
be okay. The night started off really well, we went to see a really great

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Histogram Equalization
Contrast Enhancement:
3.3.1 Histogram equalization
This method usually increases the global contrast of many images, especially when the usable data of
the image is represented by close contrast values. Through this adjustment, the intensities can be better
distributed on the histogram. This allows for areas of lower local contrast to gain a higher contrast.
Histogram equalization accomplishes this by effectively spreading out the most frequent intensity
values.
The method is useful in images with backgrounds and foregrounds that are both bright or both dark. In
particular, the method can lead to better views of bone structure in x ray images, and to better detail in
photographs that are over or under exposed. A key advantage of the method is that it is a fairly
straightforward technique and an invertible operator. So in theory, if the histogram equalization
function is known, then the original histogram can be recovered. The calculation is not
computationally intensive. A disadvantage of the method is that it is indiscriminate. It may increase
the contrast of background noise, while decreasing the usable signal.
In scientific imaging where spatial correlation is more important than intensity of signal (such as
separating DNA fragments of quantized length), the small signal to noise ... Show more content on

Also histogram equalization can produce undesirable effects (like visible image gradient) when
applied to images with low color depth. For example, if applied to 8 bit image displayed with 8 bit
gray scale palette it will further reduce color depth (number of unique shades of gray) of the image.
Histogram equalization will work the best when applied to images with much higher color depth than
palette size, like continuous data or 16 bit gray scale

United States Should Increase The Visa Cap
The H 1B visa, originally created to streamline admissions of temporary foreign workers to the United
States, has become a topic of much debate between the foes of immigration and the information
technology (IT) industry. The debate is focused on whether to increase the visa cap in order to
alleviate what the industry describes as a shortage of IT labor. This argument, however, obscures the
fundamental flaw of the H 1B program that deserves a more prudent examination. The current H 1B
visa program is plagued with inefficiencies that privilege the IT industry at the expense of both visa
holders and domestic IT workers alike. The H 1B program needs a complete overhaul, and should
include a mechanism to ensure that both employers and employees abide by free market forces.
Increasing the current visa cap will only amplify current inefficiencies of the H 1B visa program.
Alternatively, allowing visa holders the ability to access a greater range of employment opportunities
increases the holder s incentive to make economic contributions. The industry s ability to hire globally
must be balance by workers rights to seek out more competitive opportunities. Current mobility
restrictions of the H 1B program are preventing valuable workers from seeking the most valuable
opportunities, ultimately leading to a misallocation of foreign labor. H 1B visa reform that includes a
role for labor mobility will not only introduce market forces into the bigoted program, but will also
help ensure

How Did Henry Ford Change The World
Henry Ford an entrepreneur, and a very successful man in the early 1900s who helped changed the
world. Henry Ford was born in 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan, and was the first surviving son of Henry
Ford and Mary Ford who owned a farm. In the 1920s Henry Ford invented the Ford Motor Company,
the Model T, and changed the world. Inspiration and motivation is what kept Henry Ford going. In
1896, he completed what he called the Quadricycle,(Henry Ford) and this would inspire him and
motivate him to improve on his prototype. He would then keep selling his Quadricycle to keep
funding other future projects.Within the next seven years he would receive backing from many
different investors, some of whom formed the Detroit Automobile company in 1899,(Henry ... Show

By making the Model T more suburbs started to emerge, houses now had driveways, and there was no
more need for the horse and wagon. As more and more people got a vehicle they did not have to live
as close to their job as they used to and this resulted in the suburbs emerging. With the Model T new
roads had to be built to get people and these vehicles back and forth from their destination. As suburbs
became common houses needed to be built and rather than building a house with no driveway,
driveways had to be built to let the vehicle fit in instead of it being in the road. The horse and wagon

Analysis Of Donald Trump s Presidential Debate
When Donald Trump began his improbable run for president 15 months ago, he offered his wealth and
television celebrity as credentials, then slyly added a twist of fearmongering about Mexican rapists
flooding across the Southern border. From that moment of combustion, it became clear that Mr. Trump
s views were matters of dangerous impulse and cynical pandering rather than thoughtful politics. Yet
he has attracted throngs of Americans who ascribe higher purpose to him than he has demonstrated in
a freewheeling campaign marked by bursts of false and outrageous allegations, personal insults,
xenophobic nationalism, unapologetic sexism and positions that shift according to his audience and
his whims. Now here stands Mr. Trump, feisty from his runaway Republican primary victories and
ready for the first presidential debate, scheduled for Monday night, with Hillary Clinton. It is time for
others who are still undecided, and perhaps hoping for some dramatic change in our politics and
governance, to take a hard look and see Mr. Trump for who he is. They have an obligation to
scrutinize his supposed virtues as a refreshing counterpolitician. Otherwise, they could face the
consequences of handing the White House to a man far more consumed with himself than with the
nation s well being. Here s how Mr. Trump is selling himself and why he can t be believed. A financial
wizard who can bring executive magic to government? Despite his towering properties, Mr. Trump

Guantanamo Bay At The Southeastern Tip Of Cuba
In the Caribbean at the southeastern tip of Cuba is Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. The United States
began leasing this area in 1903 making it the oldest overseas U.S. Navy base. Guantanamo Bay allows
the U.S. an area to establish a detention facility in a secure and isolated location eliminating any
chance the detainees could escape and return back to their countries. In addition, Guantanamo Bay
allowed the U.S. to avoid bringing those individuals suspected of terrorism from entering domestic
soil. As of today, Guantanamo Bay only holds 80 detainees. Since the attack on the World Trade
Center, the US has been holding detainees without trial and there have been reports of torture being
used. This is not only unconstitutional but also immoral, Guantanamo Bay needs to be shut down.
Throughout the last 15 years of operation, Guantanamo Bay has faced endless criticism from both
international countries and the US. The biggest issue is the legal black hole that exists at Guantanamo
Bay and the concern over interrogation techniques and torture. We are able to torture prisoners
because of how George W Bush described the war. Bush thought it was a new kind of war and that
this meant the Americans didn t need adhere the rules of the Geneva Convention, explains Professor
Honigsberg from the University of San Francisco. The convention says prisoners of war must be
treated humanely during a war. But Bush didn t call them prisoners of war but enemy combatants .

The Description Theory of Meaning Essay
The description theory of meaning was proposed independently by Bertrand Russell and Gottlob
Frege as a response to some of the fallacies of the reference theory. Description theorists propose that
instead of being a simple word world relationship , meaning is derived from descriptions associated
with certain objects and stored in our mind (or senses in Frege s case). Frege and Russell s accounts of
the theory differ subtly in how they view descriptions. Several objections have been made against the
theory, but only the most important objections will be raised. These include Strawson s objection to
the attributive use. Also, the problems of ignorance and error raised by Kripke tarnish the description
theory s attractiveness. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows him to extend the Description Theory to almost every meaning. The extension of the
theory to names seems natural as when one refers to someone, they often add a description. For
example, The fat slob of a father on the Simpsons explains just who Homer Simpson is. This analysis
helps the Description theorist to overcome some of the problems which plagued the Reference
Theorist. This theory is an improvement on the reference theory, as it is much better at explaining
some of the features of language, such as why we explain proper names with descriptions if asked.
Comparing Frege and Russell s Theories
While having essentially a similar message, there are some key differences between the two original
Description theorist s hypotheses. Both the theories can pick out a specific referent indirectly with
something like a description. However, while the emphasis is the same, Russell s analysis appealed to
the description as being something within a competent user s mind, whereas Frege saw these
descriptions as senses. He described these as being platonic entities, thus objective, whereas the
referents they picked out as being subjective. These abstract objects are used to determine how
reference can be made in the concrete world. Russell argues that there are not two levels of semantic
significance in his theory, so that when his theory is logically formulated, it has a general nature ,

The History Of The Universe From The Big Bang
Religions and cultures have their own versions of the origin stories, which are general anecdotes or
narratives in order to explain the existence and mysteries of the universe and the human beings. And
big history is also an origin story, attempting to examine the history of the Universe from the Big
Bang, explain the present and predict the future of the universe as well as the human beings. One of
the most important theme found in the Big history is the idea of increasing complexity and the term of
Goldilocks conditions , Christian suggests that the universe creates complexity when these conditions
require a favorable environment, which is neither too hot nor too cold, thus providing just the required
environment necessary for complexity to take place. These conditions found in the dissimilar
thresholds including the creation of the universe and the formation of the stars, the early human life
and the modern epoch.
The creation of the universe and the formation of the stars
To understand the history of the Universe, it is inevitable to conduct a thorough analysis that involves
a survey of the origin of the universe. As complex creatures, we are driven by a desire to understand
how the universe advances in complexity (Grinin, 2013). Understanding the universe also requires an
understanding why complexity results in vulnerability and fragility. To have an understanding of the
universe, it is required that we go back to the beginning of time, an estimated 13.8 billion

ABSTRACT Globalization refers to the process of integration of the world into one huge market. It
provides several things to several people with removal of all trade barriers among countries.
Globalization happens through three channels: trade in goods services, movement of capital and flow
of finance. Globalization in India is generally taken to mean integrating the economy of the country

This is all the more crucial because even if we leave out the unambiguous supporters of globalization
in its present form those who hold that it is purely beneficial, and the benefits will trickle down
automatically to the poor there are still widely differing conceptions of this process. Those who either
oppose globalization, or are anxious about its potentially detrimental effects on employment and
poverty, encompass a wide political spectrum. The extreme right oppose it from the standpoint of
economic and cultural nationalism, and liberals might deplore the loss of national sovereignty because
it reduces the effectiveness of state intervention to regulate capital and labour, alleviate poverty and so

Globalization is the process of integrating various economies of the world without creating any
hindrances in the free flow of goods and services, technology, capital and even labour or human

free flow of goods and services among nation states; 2. Creation of environment in which free flow of

The Career As A Journalist
As a child, when asked what career I would like to pursue I would have answered Author because of
my deep respect for those who could eloquently format thoughts onto paper. I now seek a career as a
journalist because that literary skill is combined with the opportunity to create a lasting impact in the
world. Journalists are given authority over the presentation of our news and, through this, help to
guide the minds and culture of our society toward responsible stewardship of global resources.
Journalism would provide me with the opportunity to explore real problems and meet interesting
people, then tell the world about them as a trusted informant. This would make me the first step in
solving some of the challenges that face us in the future, because people can t hold an opinion on
something they know nothing about.
Beyond any of this, in the three years I have been working on my student newspaper, I ve found
journalistic writing to be something that I love. Writing is something that has always challenged me.
Unlike math, which is formulaic and nothing more than a variation or combination of puzzle pieces,
writing has the ability to change over time and for each individual. The written word has teeth; it can
spark change or prompt discussion as easily as it can entertain. This inexplicable and wild nature of
the twenty six characters jammed together in endless rows of possibility is enthralling, and I welcome
the challenge presented by a career shaped around words.

Pinky The Dolphin Research Paper
Pinky the Dolphin
Pinky is a bottlenose dolphin. It is completely normal, except for the fact that it s pink. The social
media has been going crazy since Pinky s last sighting on September 9th, 2015. Pinky isn t the first
pink dolphin, and probably won t be the last. Nevertheless, it is a rare type, and scarcity creates value,
or in Pinky s case, fame.
Pinky was first sighted in June 2007 in Louisiana waters as a dolphin calf following its mother. This
time, it has been accompanied by another grey bottlenose dolphin. This means that they are mating,
and leads to the speculation that Pinky is a female. Because its colour is so rare, Pinky and its mate s
descendants have a small chance of having pink dolphin calves. We just have to wait and ... Show

Some people claim that it has a rare genetic disorder, and not albinism. That isn t proved. Others say
that it is an Amazon River Dolphin, but its skin is smooth and splotch free, unlike the Amazon River
Dolphin. Albinism is rare in animals, but possible. It occurs when the cells responsible of making the
pigment melanin fail to produce enough, or at all. This is usually because of a deformation in a
gene(s). Pinky s dolphin might have both been normal, gray bottlenose dolphins, but each carrying a
gene with this deformation, and that probably led to Pinky s unusual colour. This isn t the first time an
albino dolphin was sighted. Carolina Snowball was a popular albino bottlenose dolphin displayed at
the Miami Seaquarium in the early 1960 s. During the summer of 1994 in Little Lake near New
Orleans, Louisiana an all white dolphin was spotted in a group of 4 5 individuals, but was only seen
for 20 to 30 minutes and never seen again. Another all white dolphin calf was first observed in a group
of more than 40 dolphins south of Galveston, Texas in September 2003. Albinism in marine animals is
extremely rare; there have been only 14 recorded sightings of albino bottlenose dolphins since

come from a criminal past or criminal experience, possibly to develop due to living environment.

Harvey Milk, By Rob Epstein And Milk
One way to represent a person s life and achievements can be through a movie, be it documentary or
narrative film. A person worth documenting is Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in the
United States who fought for gay rights and inspired equality for the United States. There are two
mainly renowned films about Harvey Milk, which will be compared for this essay: The times of
Harvey Milk (1984) by Rob Epstein and Milk (2008) by Gus Van Sant. The first is an independent
documentary about Harvey Milk s life and legacy with a big focus on his friends and associates as
they remember him along with archival footage, whereas the second is a mainstream multimillion
dollar dramatic Hollywood film recounting Harvey s life more from his perspective and with a star
studded cast. These two portrayals are different between approach, tone and style. The way this essay
will approach these movies is by comparing how the two films portray Milk, how these take from
what can be considered gay cinema and which can be considered the more realistic portrayal of
Harvey Milk. When analyzing both the documentary and the mainstream film, one must first
determine some of the important facets in gay cinema. Images about gay people seem to be more
varied and recognizant of homosexuality though they may obscure other stereotypes or sectors of the
LGBT community (Filaire 11). This is something both films may do in the end, since bisexuals or
transgender are not present, but it serves as a

Mental Illness In America Essay
The Stigma of Mental Illness in America I consider myself lucky, lucky that I was able to get help

way to work, maybe even the familiar figure looking back at you in the mirror. But we don t know,

like a parasite slowly affecting its prey. With the news constantly exaggerating these stories beyond

It is not enough. No matter how much information and knowledge reaches the population it is

The Grim Reader Is All Powerful

The Grim Reader is All Powerful The simple notion of mortality is difficult to acknowledge, much
less accept; why must anyone welcome the ridiculous idea that their current, stable existence will
someday abruptly disappear? Whether I believe I will fade into a dark eternal nirvana, fantasize of a
pure heaven, or place my faith in reincarnation matters little before mortality. After all, I cannot
eliminate complete doubt of my beliefs. The irrational element of certain death awaiting each and
every person is an unshakable truth that can be beyond infuriating. However, in Lloyd Jones Mister
Pip, Matilda states, It occurred to me I could simply end things this way. I could just give up, let go.
(Jones 215). Literature entraps readers within the minds of characters who turn to their inevitable
demise and embrace it, accepting the truth. At the same time, literature beautifully illustrates the ideals
of those who fight for survival, eternally rejecting mortality. Thus, I believe literature strongly
influences our beliefs and tolerances, and while it may force us to accept mortality, it may just as
strongly teach us to defy it.
On the surface, Mister Pip is a tragic tale, complete with brutal murders and suicidal ideals.
Manifesting a dramatic plot in a unique and dynamic writing style, the author is capable of forcing
readers to accept inconceivable events and ideas. Through the initially slow paced plot, we, the readers

Analysis Of Janice Mirikitani s Suicide Note
It s easy to feel worthless. Almost every person feels this deep emotion at some time in life, but people
handle it different. Everywhere people are always judging. Judgement from parents, from family, and
even from friends is inescapable. People can tear themselves down in many ways, such as through
school, not feeling they look good enough, and even just not feeling like they re ever good enough to
be living on Earth. In Janice Mirikitani s poem Suicide Note, it talks about an Asian American student
currently in college. She tries her hardest, she wants to succeed and make her parents proud. Her
parents have high standards for her, as they want her to receive a 4.0 grade point average. Although
she gives her best effort, her grade point average is still less than a 4.0, and for that reason her parents
are not proud of her, she s not their perfect, ideal daughter. So she enters that point where she no
longer feels proud of her accomplishments, she feels worthless, and unintelligent. She decides to
commit suicide by jumping out of a window in her college dorm. In her suicide note she apologizes to
her parents for not being good enough. Suicide Note is a free form poem, it has no set stanzaic pattern,
the sentences break in unexpected places, and the structure varies throughout the poem. It uses
imagery to connect with the reader, and the stanzas are set up in way that make the lines to appear as
they are falling. Through the use of enjambment, and end stopped line the

Although these two songs are known as plainchants, meaning they are usually monophonic and the
melody usually does not change, both pieces have many similarities and differences. In my personal
opinion, I believe that these two piece are more different than they are similar. For example, Viderunt
Omnes is polyphonic for a majority of its duration because it sounds to be sung in unison by a choir
and not by a singular person. O viridissima virga on the other

proprioception (Bernier and Perrin, 1998). Plantar flexion strength was addressed by utilizing green
thera tubing around the forefoot with the patient holding the other end of the tube. This was performed
for one set of 20 repetitions. Body weight squats using a railing for support were chosen as they are a
closed kinetic chain exercise that challenges the gluteus muscle group as well as hamstrings while also
causing dorsiflexion of the ankles (Gryzlo SM, Patek RM, Pink M, Perry J, 1994). Closed chain
exercises were started initiated at the first visit as they cause an increase in joint compressive forces
which can lead to increased stability, increased muscle activation, and decreased joint shearing forces
(Harter, 1996). Supine bridges on a 55 cm theraball were performed for 20 repetitions to address the

Interview With A Calculator
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this interview is to distinguish the learning between a high school
student of today s date with a student back in 80 s. The methods we use today for our math solving
problem is very different as we rely more on calculators. Does it really going to help us remember it
after almost 15 years from today? Will we be able to solve a math problem without a calculator use? I
also wanted to analyze the misconception that both groups had regarding decimal division and
multiplication. London, Brightlemon and Tribal stated on their website of Count On some common
misconceptions about multiplying decimal numbers, one of them was about most people ignoring the
fact that 0.1 * 0.1 is the same as 1/10 * 1/10 which becomes 1/100 ... Show more content on

And mostly young people like the high school pupil often have the misconception that 6 divided by 15
is the same as 15 divided by 6. My cousin had the misconception exactly like Benny that Erlwanger
mentioned in his writing (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B
zCt1YBD2VJNFpDOFhyaEsyOG8/view?usp=sha). They often ignore which number is divided by
what. Calculators are also making younger generations mentally handicapped which doesn t allow
them to do a simple calculation without it, they rely more on it rather than trying to solve it
themselves. Consequently, more use of calculators at each and every class is increasing the
misconception of a small number divided by a larger number compared to the other facts I was
considering. Back in the old days, they were not allowed to use calculators at for every calculation
which made them faster at doing it themselves. My cousin took double the time compared to my
father as he was stuck in the division. Although he had done high school math after decades, he still
finished it faster than my cousin as he remembered the steps he had done in school. My cousin had the
misconception that if the denominator is greater than the numerator, it works the same way as it would
work for a smaller denominator. Benny from one of our readings also had the same problem as my
cousin. When he was asked to solve 4/11 and then 11/4. He answered that both would end up having
the same result, ignoring which is bigger: denominator or numerator. Considering the way my cousin
applied his methods for solving the problem of the division, it shows that he lacks the cognitive
structure and its coordination just like Benny. We have discussed in the class that misconceptions are
resistant to change and after the interviews I have realized that it is true. This is because after the
interview was done, my cousin still had the misconception that 15/6 gives

The Concept Of Copying Designs
The concept of copying designs dates to a 100 years. In 1903, British designer Charles Frederick
Worth was the first to place a signature on the labels of his creations as a means of authenticating
them. Madeleine Vionnet made her little horses dress in 1924 that was sold without her permission
and sought out the idea to thumbprint her designs. Coco Chanel s woolen suits were a mark for
counterfeits. She saw copies as promotion and was cited saying, Fashion should slip out of your
hands. The very idea of protecting the seasonal arts is childish. One should not bother to protect that
which dies the minute it is born (Faking It). Counterfeiting is a trend that has infested corporations
infinitely. The fashion industry generally has taken huge feats due to the legal problems of
counterfeiting. It can be described as fighting a losing war because a brand s reputation is weakened
once counterfeits are reachable to the public. We see this as one walks the street of Canal in New
Orleans where street hustlers try to attract to the public by screaming Louis, Gucci, Rolex at
passersby, scoping possible buyers into side back streets or invisible upstairs rooms. Inexpensive
prices for expensive designer goods force young buyers into the counterfeit markets. The average
buyer may marvel the question with purchasing cheaper products that look the same if they can still
look good in them. Counterfeiting is the act of making an imitation of an original, with the intent to

Barnes Noble Goes Local
MEMORANDUM
Date: February 9, 2015
To: Michael P. Huseby
From: Dana Gorder, Corporate Strategist
RE: Barnes Noble Goes Local
Why shouldn t we judge a book by its cover? As the country s leading brick and mortar bookseller,
Barnes Noble (B N) needs to transform its super store appearance and atmosphere instead of cutting
into markets with well established competition, such as ebooks and campus bookstores. Along with
the rising trend of the buy local movement, people prefer the atmosphere of a local bookstore to that
of a large retailer, and if B N wants to avoid Borders fate, we have to adopt the look and feel of a more
community connected, local store.
The Situation
Barnes Noble is in trouble. Sales in all three B N branches Nook, Retail, and College have continually
dropped since 2012 and analysts expect sales to decline another 7 percent this year (IBISWorld).
Nook
Revenue decreased more than 50 percent last year (BN.com)
Distributors like Target no longer carry the Nook due to lack of profitability (Kozlowski)
Retail
Revenue decreased 6.3 percent last year (BN.com)
BUT without taking into account Nook product failures, sales improved at the end of the year
(BN.com)
College
Revenue decreased 6 percent last year (BN.com)
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization (EBITDA) increased this year
Although B N College appears to have a bright future, its growth is limited. First, profits increased
while revenue

Learning Disabilities Advantages And Disadvantages
Learning disabilities refers to a variety of disorders that affect the acquisition, retention,
understanding, organization or use of verbal and/or non verbal information. These disorders result
from impairments in one or more psychological processes related to learning, in combination with
otherwise average abilities essential for thinking and reasoning. Learning disabilities are specific not
global impairments and as such are distinct from intellectual disabilities. (Learning Disabilities
Association of Ontario, 2001). According to the mentioned association, learning disabilities range in
severity in one or more of the following skills: oral language, reading, written language and
mathematics. There are various types of learning disabilities such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia,
Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia.
According to the International Dyslexia Association (2002), Dyslexia is a neurological based specific
learning disability that interferes with accurate or fluent word recognition and poor spelling or word
abilities. The brain of a person who is not dyslexic would be able to connect the letters with the sound
of those letters and put them together. The brain puts words and sentences together and makes it ...

I Am Waiting For The Concert
Sunday, May 29th 2016, 2:55PM: I am waiting for the concert to begin as I watch the musicians walk
onto the stage one by one, rehearsing a few notes on their instrument to warm up a bit and probably
test the pitch of the instrument. As more and more get up on the stage, the sound of them rehearsing
feel more and more chaotic, confusing and hard to follow, reminding me of Stravinski s work. All of
the sudden, they stop and start playing harmoniously a few notes thus inviting the conductor on the
stage the concert was about to start.
Before the main performance, there were two shorter pieces, Ibert s Bacchanale and Dusapin s
Outscape. In retrospec,t both were wonderful choices as a prelude to Holst s The Planets as I felt the
three pieces fit well together when put back to back and they even inspired to me an overarching
message.
Jacques Ibert s Bacchanale was composed in 1956, only 6 years before it s author s death. Unlike his
previous compositions which were marked by the tension and turmoil of the interwar period and
World War 2, Bacchanale is the culmination of his rather wild and hard to pigeonhole style. The title
evokes the Roman festival bearing the same name, a tribute to the wine god Bacchus. Bacchanalia
were notorious for the excessive drinking, dancing and performing for as long as the participants
could remain standing and they were living proof of the carefree lifestyle Romans could afford to
have.
The composition itself mirrors this style, having as a

History Of Anthropology By Tuskegee
Through the advertisement of ancestory.com, it is made realistic to find the origin of one s family line.
Leaves after leaf tells a story to how one s great great grandfather served as a fighter pilot in the
Second World War or discover your mother s great uncle was one of the candidates chosen and
impacted by the Tuskegee experiment. Family history can be easy to access. But how can we trace the
origin of disease or on a broader scale, the origin of mankind? The study of anthropology has focused
solely on this area to discover the evolution of human beings from the being of time. Anthropology is
a broad study of multiple areas of human relationships, artifacts, development, cultures, and so on
with making reference to both past and present

Elie Wiesel Indifference
Indifference is a blurred line between light and darkness. Indifference is dangerous. Indifference is
seductive. Indifference is unnatural. Indifference is tempting. Indifference is careless. Indifference is
not a beginning, it is an end. The Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel in his speech, The Perils of
Indifference, claims that indifference has multiple hazards. He supports his claim by first comparing
indifference or lack of interest to it being more dangerous than anger and hatred, then comparing the
meaning of indifference to not only a sin, but to a punishment. Wiesel s purpose is to define
indifference in order for us to be aware of its effects so that we can do something about it. He creates a

In this case, the Rwandan genocide which happened in 1990, 54 years after the Holocaust,
approximately murdered 800,000 people in 100 days. The genocide all started because the president at
this time was a Hutu and was shot down from his airplane. As a result, the group Hutu thought that the
other group Tutsi had planned it all out. To clarify, the Hutu group was angry with the Tutsi, which
caused violence. The United States decide not to get involved because they didn t want any more
problems. As a matter of fact, Wiesel had thought that the American army decided not to get involved
as well as he stated in paragraph 17. In other words when Wiesel was in the concentration camps, he
thought that the American army had decided not to intervene with Hitler and his men.
Ultimately, Elie Wiesel is an extraordinary human being. Why did Elie Wiesel decide to write his life
changing speech you might ask. Wiesel decide to come up with is speech because he wanted to
illustrate the dangers of indifference using personal experiences and historical examples. He wanted us
to learn why indifference is so inhumane. He wanted us to know that there are other genocides going
on and that the century/society of today should not commit these same mistakes. Elie Wiesel wanted
us to know that indifference is a

Angela Vicario
This book was a storyline about, the betrayal of a new wife with her new husband. This was
something that when I was reading I didn t expect at all. When I started reading the first chapter I was
completely sure that he had done something wrong, for the first chapter to start off ON THE DAY
THEY WERE GOING TO KILL HIM (Chpt.1 pg.1). Angela Vicario was on of the main characters of
the book, she was the new wife and Bayardo San Roman was her new husband. The book starts with
suspense and it just makes readers want to keep finishing until the end. It gets complicated that I
sometimes end each chapter puzzled because I m just like what? it s absolutely amazing and
intriguing. Angela Vicario is the type of person that helpless air and a poverty ... Show more content

And I also wouldn t have believed that the most innocent woman from the story would be the one to
create the cause of the problem. Realizing the roles of the women in the book expresses what role they
would play with men. Most of the women in the book were referred to as whores or women with
honor, so they each had their position. Angela never was in a category, until someone took her
virginity, because even the ending still leaves the readers confused because we don t know weather it
was Santiago Nasar or someone else, but she keeps saying it was Santiago. So Angela will take the
truth to her death, and never admit if it was actually

  • 2. Longing For The Sea Green Deep Longing for the Sea Green Deep Love, like anything else, is born irrevocably from chance. The infinite decisions made each day by each person are what govern the world and it s from this mess, this entanglement of choices that we then make our own. All of human history is wound up in itself, and no one event can accurately be viewed in isolation. To trace a line from the beginning of time to a single occurrence and describe that chain as inevitable would be an impossible task. But with this model of coincidence and a fundamental lack of recurrence everything is, as Kundera would put it, unbearably light. How can we possibly find any meaning, any truth, any beauty in a world filled with insignificances so light that they may as well have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Kundera correctly points out, there s something unbearable in the thought that a love that feels so necessary could just as easily have never have occurred at all. Tomas gives us two opposing ideas, there s the Es muss sein that he looks for in his love with Tereza, but also the phrase Einmal ist keinmal...(What happens but once, might as well have not happened at all) (8). For Kundera, coincidence is proof of lightness, since the singularity of experience is lightness, and coincidence betrays that singularity, telling us that in any alternate turn of events (a different coincidence) things could have gone a different way. He presents two systems, one in which fate controls our actions, and a greater meaning exists, and another in which our lives are meaningless because of their abrupt and coincidental nature. This second system is the one Kundera tells us exists, but just like Tereza and Tomas, Kundera tells us we re driven toward the meaning fate provides: We all reject out of hand the idea that the love of our life may be something light or weightless; we presume our love is what must be, that without it our life would no longer be the same; we feel that Beethoven himself, gloomy and awe inspiring, is playing the Es muss sein! to our own great love (35). What we want in life, and in love, more than anything else is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He gets really good at it to a point that he is committing crimes to get footage. The purpose of local television news is to provide viewers with information about their community. • 4. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease ( Gerd ) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) Introduction: It is important to know that GERD is defined by consensus as a disease comprising symptoms, end organ effects and complications related to the reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus, oral cavity, and / or the lung (Katz et al., 2013). According to the Montreal Definition, which is global evidence based consensus, GERD is a condition which develops when the reflux of stomach contents causes troublesome symptoms and/or complications (Vakil et al., 2006). Most of the patients with GERD fall into 1 of 2 categories: erosive esophagitis or nonerosive reflux disease (NERD). The 2 main phenotypes of GERD appear to have different pathophysiological and clinical characteristics. Furthermore, NERD and erosive esophagitis clearly diverge when it comes to response to antireflux treatment. NERD patients have a significantly lower response rate to proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy, and consequently they constitute the majority of the refractory heartburn group (Hershcovici and Fass, 2010). Since most of symptomatic patients do not have mucosal breaks or other oesophageal injuries at endoscopy, expressions such as: non erosive reflux disease (NERD) or even functional heartburn have been introduced, reflecting the trial made to redefine more accurately the GERD concept and in order to characterize GERD as divided in separate entities rather than a continuous spectrum (Hershcovici and Fass, 2010). NERD has been defined as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ING5 Case Study The ING (INhibitor of Growth) family of genes and proteins (ING1 ING5) was identified in 1996, from PCR mediated subtractive hybridization between a normal mammary epithelial cell strain and several transformed breast cancer cell lines, followed by an in vivo functional screen for tumourigenesis1. The ING proteins target histone acetyltransferase (HAT) and histone deacetylase (HDAC) complexes to the H3K4me3 mark, altering histone acetylation and gene expression2. Also, due to the presence of the LID in all INGs, we will study if ING5 and ING4 are capable of interacting with Lamin A in differentiating stem cells and the importance of this interaction to stem cell differentiation. To achieve these objectives, we will use three different mouse embryonic stem (ES) cell lines (R1, D3, E14), already present in the lab. In ongoing studies, it was noted that these cells presented all five of the ING genes with altered expression when they were induced to differentiate. We will first study if altering ING5 and ING4 expression using siING5 and siING4 to decrease it and pCI ING5, pCI ING4 to increase levels, will affect differentiation and the self renewal rate of these lines. We will use sphere formation assays to assess self renewal. We will also induce differentiation with these different expression constructs, thus measuring the influence of these proteins in the process. To determine the degree of differentiation with varying expression of the ING genes, we will use flow cytometry to follow changes in stem cells markers, such as OCT4, OLIG2 and Nestin16. Previous studies from our group already described the LID and the interaction of several ING proteins with Lamin A12. In the conditions used in this study, ING4 was co precipitated with Lamin A. However, even though ING5 presents the LID, it was not co precipitated12. In this work we aim to evaluate the effects of the possible interaction between the ING4 and ... • 6. Research Proposal On The Veil Research Proposal Muslims and the Veil Coming the 19th century, a new type of clothing made its way to the Muslim society, this being the veil. A veil is a piece of more or less transparent material, used to conceal a woman s face and head ( Veil ). After the acceptance of the veil into society, the initial use was to protect women and their modesty and virtue. However, as time went on, the veil became more of a tool for Muslims to express their cultural identity. There are multiple different types of veils, or hijabs, including the Khimar, Chador, Niqāb, and the Burqa ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). Even though they are different, they all serve the same purpose of protecting women and their modesty and virtue. The incorporation of the veil in Muslim society dates back to the 19th century, but has originally started in the middle east ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). As a matter of fact, as religion and culture spread, so did the veil, eventually making its way to Southeast Asia. The veil started as a way of protection for women, to protect their modesty and virtue. Surprisingly, this belief goes back to the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam, which said that women should be modest. Additionally, this was a universal message, that women should follow these standards ( Muhammad and Women. ). The meaning of the veil has changed over time with politics, history, and its significance has never been static or monolithic (E. Sanders). Like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Widom and Kuhns were hoping to show that being a victim of abuse and/or neglect demonstrated an increased risk of sexually transmitted diseases, premature parenting and the continuation of the abuse/neglect cycle from one generation to the next. For female subject matters, childhood victimization did increase their risk of becoming a prostitute. One Punch Man Being a comic book and manga reader, I always fell in love with the plot, read the words and skim through the drawings without stopping to think about the symbolism of the drawings on the pages. While reading McCloud s Understanding Comics and observing Molly Bang s theories on shapes and lines, my mind has opened a broader understanding of what is right in front of me, when I m reading a manga or a comic book. To begin with, in chapter four, McCloud talks about how some artists use lines, multiple images or streaking to show motion. In the manga One Punch Man the artist Yusuke Murata shows Saitama s movement for the serious hop attack with streaking and multiple images, to show the different ways Saitama is approaching his opponent. Also, you can imply Molly Bang s theory on diagonal shapes that show tension or motion in which Yusuke uses both (Look at picture #1). You can see how under Saitama there are also pointy edges that go diagonally so one can feel threatened as Molly Bang said. Also you can clearly see the many silhouettes of Saitama to show his special attack much clearer. Second, Molly Bang and Scott McCloud both touch base with color. Sinners in the Hand of Angry God is written by Jonathan Edwards it is a six hour speech about how sinners should come to God. The Minister s Black Veil is written by Nathaniel Hawthorne a short story about how everyone sins and hides behind a black veil. He has changed himself into something awful, only by hiding his face . The Minister Black Veil is the most effective story. Although Jonathan Edwards gave a six hour speech MBV is the most effective because he taught a lesson without saying a word. People doing the Charleston, woman daring society by dressing in heels and dresses, and people creating exciting new cartoons. Betty Boop, Felix the Cat, Bugs Bunny, and of course Mickey Mouse were all popular cartoons in the 1920s. Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney and was arguably the most famous cartoon character in the 20s. Disney created Mickey Mouse and produced the first full length animated movie (Schickel). During this time one of the greatest cartoon icons was created by Walt Disney after his distributor stole his first character and it led to the creation of the most recognizable cartoon character, Mickey Mouse. Before Walt Disney s creation of Mickey Mouse he went through some struggles. He did not always own his own business. He worked with a small group of men, who abandon him (Watts, 25). They abandon him due to the fact the business was falling apart and running out of money. • 11. Australian Government Policy Essay Australian Government Policy The first English settlement in Australia was established in 1788. Before this the Aborigines lived in the land in harmony. However, after the English arrived, the two different cultures were in close contact and had to determine how to coexist. White Europeans did not respect the Aborigines right to the land and it s resources. With brutal force, they took control of the land and claimed it as their own. Australians then developed their own policies on how to deal with the Aborigines, which, as you can expect, bettered their own way of life. There were approximately 600 different groups of indigenous people that had the same technology and social system, yet differed by their geographical location, linguistic system, kin, and a variety of other factors. These peoples are classified into one generalized group as a result of their shared historical experience of treatment by Europeans (Reece, 1999). The Aborigines have a long standing presence in Australia. Research has determined that they occupied the land approximately 70,000 to 175,000 years before the British colonization. It is estimated that in the 1770 s, there were from 500,000 to one million Aboriginal people living in Australia. Presently, there are 300,000 Aborigines living in there (Fletcher, 1999). Most of the original populations were nearly destroyed within one to two generations of British colonialism. This reduction in numbers is due to the history of new disease, poor access to health care, malnutrition, violence, and social dislocation (Markus, 1994). I worked alongside the Sales Coordinator Ksenia, the Convention Sales Manager Teagan, the Banquet Manager Luis, and the Sales Manager Ashley. Last Monday (09/21/15) I had the pleasure of learning the BEO system for Marriott with the Sales Manager Ashley. Marriott full service hotels do not use Delphi for their BEO s, instead they use a B.E.O. software specific to Marriott called C.I.T.Y. This is a very difficult software to operate, and can take months to be completely trained in. Ashley (Sales Manager in charge of BEO s) who is new to the company and the area was happy to share the knowledge she did know. The church supported a single worldview that God s creation was the center of the universe. The kings and rulers were set in their ways to set the people s minds to believe this and to never question it. From these ideas, the Enlightenment was bred from the Scientific Revolution. Nicholas Copernicus was the first to question the universal truths and teachings of the church. He devised a theory that the earth along with the other planets revolved around the sun. He only discovered one moon revolving around the earth. Galileo therefore stated if Jupiter were to revolve around the earth, then the earth would have to have at least four moons, and it doesn t. v The Church objected Galileo s theory because the Bible said the sun moved through the sky. Being totally rejected by the church, Galileo was forced to take back what he had written and was also prevented from any further teachings of his theory. Galileo was condemned by the Catholic Church for his ideas. The Church succeeded in silencing Galileo but couldn t stop the advancements in science. During this production I also improved my ability to multi role, which is extremely difficult to achieve. When establishing character s, I ensured there was a strong difference between each of their traits. In adapting my realism and multi rolling abilities the audience could see a strong change of character. There are certain elements of my performance, which I would have liked to improve on such as costume change. During a scene I had to undertake a quick costume change which I was not prepared for. This was challenging, although I could have improved if I had more time to rehearse my costume changes. I would have liked to add more movement within my scenes, this would have given my characters more in depth personality traits. He discusses the difference between the three overlapping principles. He wrote this book especially for Christian counselors, pastors, as well as students so that they may clearly understand the meaning of the three principles, allowing them to apply it to everyday problems. McMinn 2011, lets us know that spirituality and psychology have to be used together in order for us to have a accurate sense of self, accurate awareness of need, and healing relationships. Concrete Responses After reading this book , I mostly thought about how I first integrated my faith with my personal relationships. I have been Christian for a couple of years now, but every person I get close to or friend I have are not all Christian. Therefore, I had to learn how to not let their habits influence me with what I do and say. I have friends that smoke, get drunk, curse, and many other things that I find not to be Christian behavior. These were once things that I also had taken part in, so continuing our friendship and letting go of bad habits was a struggle for me. Integrating my new life with my old life was changeling because I was always told that your are the company that you keep. I had to make sure I didn t get myself into situations that could hurt me in the long run. I was set on continuing the friendship I had and remaining a Christian as well. I can remember the first time my faith was tested. It was around five months after I changed my life around. I was invited to go out to the movies and out to eat with a big group of friends. Being that it was only a dinner and a movie, I assumed it would be okay. The night started off really well, we went to see a really great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Histogram Equalization Contrast Enhancement: 3.3.1 Histogram equalization This method usually increases the global contrast of many images, especially when the usable data of the image is represented by close contrast values. Through this adjustment, the intensities can be better distributed on the histogram. This allows for areas of lower local contrast to gain a higher contrast. Histogram equalization accomplishes this by effectively spreading out the most frequent intensity values. The method is useful in images with backgrounds and foregrounds that are both bright or both dark. In particular, the method can lead to better views of bone structure in x ray images, and to better detail in photographs that are over or under exposed. A key advantage of the method is that it is a fairly straightforward technique and an invertible operator. So in theory, if the histogram equalization function is known, then the original histogram can be recovered. The calculation is not computationally intensive. A disadvantage of the method is that it is indiscriminate. It may increase the contrast of background noise, while decreasing the usable signal. In scientific imaging where spatial correlation is more important than intensity of signal (such as separating DNA fragments of quantized length), the small signal to noise ... • 21. United States Should Increase The Visa Cap The H 1B visa, originally created to streamline admissions of temporary foreign workers to the United States, has become a topic of much debate between the foes of immigration and the information technology (IT) industry. The debate is focused on whether to increase the visa cap in order to alleviate what the industry describes as a shortage of IT labor. This argument, however, obscures the fundamental flaw of the H 1B program that deserves a more prudent examination. The current H 1B visa program is plagued with inefficiencies that privilege the IT industry at the expense of both visa holders and domestic IT workers alike. The H 1B program needs a complete overhaul, and should include a mechanism to ensure that both employers and employees abide by free market forces. Increasing the current visa cap will only amplify current inefficiencies of the H 1B visa program. Alternatively, allowing visa holders the ability to access a greater range of employment opportunities increases the holder s incentive to make economic contributions. The industry s ability to hire globally must be balance by workers rights to seek out more competitive opportunities. Current mobility restrictions of the H 1B program are preventing valuable workers from seeking the most valuable opportunities, ultimately leading to a misallocation of foreign labor. The Description Theory of Meaning Essay The description theory of meaning was proposed independently by Bertrand Russell and Gottlob Frege as a response to some of the fallacies of the reference theory. Description theorists propose that instead of being a simple word world relationship , meaning is derived from descriptions associated with certain objects and stored in our mind (or senses in Frege s case). Frege and Russell s accounts of the theory differ subtly in how they view descriptions. Several objections have been made against the theory, but only the most important objections will be raised. These include Strawson s objection to the attributive use. Also, the problems of ignorance and error raised by Kripke tarnish the description theory s attractiveness. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This allows him to extend the Description Theory to almost every meaning. The extension of the theory to names seems natural as when one refers to someone, they often add a description. For example, The fat slob of a father on the Simpsons explains just who Homer Simpson is. This analysis helps the Description theorist to overcome some of the problems which plagued the Reference Theorist. This theory is an improvement on the reference theory, as it is much better at explaining some of the features of language, such as why we explain proper names with descriptions if asked. Comparing Frege and Russell s Theories While having essentially a similar message, there are some key differences between the two original Description theorist s hypotheses. Both the theories can pick out a specific referent indirectly with something like a description. However, while the emphasis is the same, Russell s analysis appealed to the description as being something within a competent user s mind, whereas Frege saw these descriptions as senses. He described these as being platonic entities, thus objective, whereas the referents they picked out as being subjective. These abstract objects are used to determine how reference can be made in the concrete world. Russell argues that there are not two levels of semantic significance in his theory, so that when his theory is logically formulated, it has a general nature , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And big history is also an origin story, attempting to examine the history of the Universe from the Big Bang, explain the present and predict the future of the universe as well as the human beings. One of the most important theme found in the Big history is the idea of increasing complexity and the term of Goldilocks conditions , Christian suggests that the universe creates complexity when these conditions require a favorable environment, which is neither too hot nor too cold, thus providing just the required environment necessary for complexity to take place. There are two mainly renowned films about Harvey Milk, which will be compared for this essay: The times of Harvey Milk (1984) by Rob Epstein and Milk (2008) by Gus Van Sant. The first is an independent documentary about Harvey Milk s life and legacy with a big focus on his friends and associates as they remember him along with archival footage, whereas the second is a mainstream multimillion dollar dramatic Hollywood film recounting Harvey s life more from his perspective and with a star studded cast. • 38. The Grim Reader Is All Powerful Iris Ma Mr. Guse ENG3U1 13 4 April 2016 The Grim Reader is All Powerful The simple notion of mortality is difficult to acknowledge, much less accept; why must anyone welcome the ridiculous idea that their current, stable existence will someday abruptly disappear? Whether I believe I will fade into a dark eternal nirvana, fantasize of a pure heaven, or place my faith in reincarnation matters little before mortality. After all, I cannot eliminate complete doubt of my beliefs. The irrational element of certain death awaiting each and every person is an unshakable truth that can be beyond infuriating. However, in Lloyd Jones Mister Pip, Matilda states, It occurred to me I could simply end things this way. I could just give up, let go. (Jones 215). Literature entraps readers within the minds of characters who turn to their inevitable demise and embrace it, accepting the truth. At the same time, literature beautifully illustrates the ideals of those who fight for survival, eternally rejecting mortality. Thus, I believe literature strongly influences our beliefs and tolerances, and while it may force us to accept mortality, it may just as strongly teach us to defy it. On the surface, Mister Pip is a tragic tale, complete with brutal murders and suicidal ideals. Manifesting a dramatic plot in a unique and dynamic writing style, the author is capable of forcing readers to accept inconceivable events and ideas. Through the initially slow paced plot, we, the readers gradually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Analysis Of Janice Mirikitani s Suicide Note It s easy to feel worthless. Almost every person feels this deep emotion at some time in life, but people handle it different. Everywhere people are always judging. Judgement from parents, from family, and even from friends is inescapable. People can tear themselves down in many ways, such as through school, not feeling they look good enough, and even just not feeling like they re ever good enough to be living on Earth. In Janice Mirikitani s poem Suicide Note, it talks about an Asian American student currently in college. She tries her hardest, she wants to succeed and make her parents proud. Her parents have high standards for her, as they want her to receive a 4.0 grade point average. Although she gives her best effort, her grade point average is still less than a 4.0, and for that reason her parents are not proud of her, she s not their perfect, ideal daughter. So she enters that point where she no longer feels proud of her accomplishments, she feels worthless, and unintelligent. She decides to commit suicide by jumping out of a window in her college dorm. In her suicide note she apologizes to her parents for not being good enough. Suicide Note is a free form poem, it has no set stanzaic pattern, the sentences break in unexpected places, and the structure varies throughout the poem. It uses imagery to connect with the reader, and the stanzas are set up in way that make the lines to appear as they are falling. Through the use of enjambment, and end stopped line the ... • 40. Plainchant Compare And Contrast The plainchants Viderunt Omnes by Anonymous and O viridissima virga by Hildegard of Bingen are both compositions that were created during the Medieval Age, also known as the Middle Age. The purpose of these pieces were to be served usually in Roman Catholic Churches as music of worship. Although these two songs are known as plainchants, meaning they are usually monophonic and the melody usually does not change, both pieces have many similarities and differences. In my personal opinion, I believe that these two piece are more different than they are similar. For example, Viderunt Omnes is polyphonic for a majority of its duration because it sounds to be sung in unison by a choir and not by a singular person. O viridissima virga on the other ... • 41. A Brief Therapeutic Exercise Period Ensued There were several different interventions performed aimed at increasing range of motion, balance/proprioception, and to increase strength of the right lower extremity. Following the initial examination and evaluation a brief therapeutic exercise period ensued. The gastrocnemius and soleus were both stretched against a wall each for two sets of 60 seconds to help increase dorsiflexion range of motion (Radford, Burns, Buchbinder, Landford, Cook, 2006). Active range of motion for dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, inversion and eversion was performed on a wobble board while seated for 20 repetitions in each directions to increase range of motion, but more importantly to improve proprioception (Bernier and Perrin, 1998). Plantar flexion strength was addressed by utilizing green thera tubing around the forefoot with the patient holding the other end of the tube. This was performed for one set of 20 repetitions. Body weight squats using a railing for support were chosen as they are a closed kinetic chain exercise that challenges the gluteus muscle group as well as hamstrings while also causing dorsiflexion of the ankles (Gryzlo SM, Patek RM, Pink M, Perry J, 1994). Closed chain exercises were started initiated at the first visit as they cause an increase in joint compressive forces which can lead to increased stability, increased muscle activation, and decreased joint shearing forces (Harter, 1996). Supine bridges on a 55 cm theraball were performed for 20 repetitions to address the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Interview With A Calculator INTRODUCTION The purpose of this interview is to distinguish the learning between a high school student of today s date with a student back in 80 s. The methods we use today for our math solving problem is very different as we rely more on calculators. Does it really going to help us remember it after almost 15 years from today? Will we be able to solve a math problem without a calculator use? I also wanted to analyze the misconception that both groups had regarding decimal division and multiplication. London, Brightlemon and Tribal stated on their website of Count On some common misconceptions about multiplying decimal numbers, one of them was about most people ignoring the fact that 0.1 * 0.1 is the same as 1/10 * 1/10 which becomes 1/100 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And mostly young people like the high school pupil often have the misconception that 6 divided by 15 is the same as 15 divided by 6. My cousin had the misconception exactly like Benny that Erlwanger mentioned in his writing (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B zCt1YBD2VJNFpDOFhyaEsyOG8/view?usp=sha). They often ignore which number is divided by what. Calculators are also making younger generations mentally handicapped which doesn t allow them to do a simple calculation without it, they rely more on it rather than trying to solve it themselves. Consequently, more use of calculators at each and every class is increasing the misconception of a small number divided by a larger number compared to the other facts I was considering. Back in the old days, they were not allowed to use calculators at for every calculation which made them faster at doing it themselves. My cousin took double the time compared to my father as he was stuck in the division. Although he had done high school math after decades, he still finished it faster than my cousin as he remembered the steps he had done in school. My cousin had the misconception that if the denominator is greater than the numerator, it works the same way as it would work for a smaller denominator. Benny from one of our readings also had the same problem as my cousin. When he was asked to solve 4/11 and then 11/4. He answered that both would end up having the same result, ignoring which is bigger: denominator or numerator. Considering the way my cousin applied his methods for solving the problem of the division, it shows that he lacks the cognitive structure and its coordination just like Benny. We have discussed in the class that misconceptions are resistant to change and after the interviews I have realized that it is true. This is because after the interview was done, my cousin still had the misconception that 15/6 gives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Concept Of Copying Designs The concept of copying designs dates to a 100 years. In 1903, British designer Charles Frederick Worth was the first to place a signature on the labels of his creations as a means of authenticating them. Madeleine Vionnet made her little horses dress in 1924 that was sold without her permission and sought out the idea to thumbprint her designs. Coco Chanel s woolen suits were a mark for counterfeits. She saw copies as promotion and was cited saying, Fashion should slip out of your hands. The very idea of protecting the seasonal arts is childish. One should not bother to protect that which dies the minute it is born (Faking It). Counterfeiting is a trend that has infested corporations infinitely. The fashion industry generally has taken huge feats due to the legal problems of counterfeiting. It can be described as fighting a losing war because a brand s reputation is weakened once counterfeits are reachable to the public. We see this as one walks the street of Canal in New Orleans where street hustlers try to attract to the public by screaming Louis, Gucci, Rolex at passersby, scoping possible buyers into side back streets or invisible upstairs rooms. Inexpensive prices for expensive designer goods force young buyers into the counterfeit markets. The average buyer may marvel the question with purchasing cheaper products that look the same if they can still look good in them. Counterfeiting is the act of making an imitation of an original, with the intent to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the country s leading brick and mortar bookseller, Barnes Noble (B N) needs to transform its super store appearance and atmosphere instead of cutting into markets with well established competition, such as ebooks and campus bookstores. Along with the rising trend of the buy local movement, people prefer the atmosphere of a local bookstore to that of a large retailer, and if B N wants to avoid Borders fate, we have to adopt the look and feel of a more community connected, local store. The Situation Barnes Noble is in trouble. Sales in all three B N branches Nook, Retail, and College have continually dropped since 2012 and analysts expect sales to decline another 7 percent this year (IBISWorld). Nook Revenue decreased more than 50 percent last year (BN.com) Distributors like Target no longer carry the Nook due to lack of profitability (Kozlowski) Retail Revenue decreased 6.3 percent last year (BN.com) BUT without taking into account Nook product failures, sales improved at the end of the year (BN.com) College Revenue decreased 6 percent last year (BN.com) Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization (EBITDA) increased this year Although B N College appears to have a bright future, its growth is limited. Learning Disabilities Advantages And Disadvantages Learning disabilities refers to a variety of disorders that affect the acquisition, retention, understanding, organization or use of verbal and/or non verbal information. • 46. I Am Waiting For The Concert Sunday, May 29th 2016, 2:55PM: I am waiting for the concert to begin as I watch the musicians walk onto the stage one by one, rehearsing a few notes on their instrument to warm up a bit and probably test the pitch of the instrument. As more and more get up on the stage, the sound of them rehearsing feel more and more chaotic, confusing and hard to follow, reminding me of Stravinski s work. All of the sudden, they stop and start playing harmoniously a few notes thus inviting the conductor on the stage the concert was about to start. Before the main performance, there were two shorter pieces, Ibert s Bacchanale and Dusapin s Outscape. In retrospec,t both were wonderful choices as a prelude to Holst s The Planets as I felt the three pieces fit well together when put back to back and they even inspired to me an overarching message. Jacques Ibert s Bacchanale was composed in 1956, only 6 years before it s author s death. Unlike his previous compositions which were marked by the tension and turmoil of the interwar period and World War 2, Bacchanale is the culmination of his rather wild and hard to pigeonhole style. The title evokes the Roman festival bearing the same name, a tribute to the wine god Bacchus. Bacchanalia were notorious for the excessive drinking, dancing and performing for as long as the participants could remain standing and they were living proof of the carefree lifestyle Romans could afford to have. The composition itself mirrors this style, having as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Elie Wiesel Indifference Indifference is a blurred line between light and darkness. Indifference is dangerous. Indifference is seductive. Indifference is unnatural. Indifference is tempting. Indifference is careless. Indifference is not a beginning, it is an end. The Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel in his speech, The Perils of Indifference, claims that indifference has multiple hazards. He supports his claim by first comparing indifference or lack of interest to it being more dangerous than anger and hatred, then comparing the meaning of indifference to not only a sin, but to a punishment. Wiesel s purpose is to define indifference in order for us to be aware of its effects so that we can do something about it. He creates a serious, thankful, ... To clarify, the Hutu group was angry with the Tutsi, which caused violence. The United States decide not to get involved because they didn t want any more problems. As a matter of fact, Wiesel had thought that the American army decided not to get involved as well as he stated in paragraph 17. In other words when Wiesel was in the concentration camps, he thought that the American army had decided not to intervene with Hitler and his men. Ultimately, Elie Wiesel is an extraordinary human being. Why did Elie Wiesel decide to write his life changing speech you might ask. Wiesel decide to come up with is speech because he wanted to illustrate the dangers of indifference using personal experiences and historical examples.
