Clear usage: past simple
Form the past simple with subject + past tense verb (verbs can be
regular or irregular).
Use the past simple tense to talk about achievements you completed
in the past.
• I passed my exams last year. I got 2 'As' and a 'B'.
• I studied engineering at University in 2011.
• I went to Moscow to study Russian.

Underline sentences in the past simple tense.
Clear usage: present perfect
• Form the present perfect with subject + have / has + past tense
verb.
• Use the present perfect tense to talk about achievements that
you began in the past, and which you are still working on.
• I have studied Italian for two years.
• I have always wanted to speak Urdu fluently, so I've started
taking advanced classes.
• I have travelled to many countries (use the present perfect if
you plan to keep travelling, or if you travel to other countries
very often).
