The Nsa s National Security Agency
The National Security Agency s (NSA) warrantless collection of metadata has been questioned on
constitutional grounds. Specifically, the NSA s program has been argued to be in violation of the
Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, which states that all citizens are to be free from any
unreasonable search or seizure. Proponents of the NSA s collection of metadata believe that it is a
crucial tool in preventing terrorist attacks, while opponents of the program believe that its
questionable constitutional validity, along with its lack of clear success in preventing a single
terrorist attack, leaves the NSA s metadata collection program in desperate need of reform or
outright abolishment.
I.THE NSA S PURPOSE AND THE EVOLUTION OF GOVERNMENT SURVEILLANCE It is
important to note what the NSA is tasked to do before discussing the constitutional arguments
against its metadata program. As Abdulmajeed Alhogbani, in his work, Going Dark: Scratching the
Surface of Government Surveillance, informs, the agency has two tasks: 1) information assurance,
which prevents foreign agents from obtaining classified information, and 2) signals intelligence,
which collects and analyzes foreign intelligence (475). Metadata collection does not fall under
either of these tasks.
Prior to the establishment of the National Security Agency in 1952, the earliest surveillance measure
enacted in the United States was the Communications Act of 1934, which centralized the regulatory

Louisiana Purchase Dbq Analysis
During the early 1800s, the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, bought the
Louisiana Territory. This acquired piece of land came to be known as the Louisiana Purchase. The
territory consisted of various Native Indian tribes which Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to explore.
Based on the provided documents, the conclusion that can be made is that Lewis and Clark were
not respectful to the Native Americans because not only did they kill members of their tribe, but
they wiped out their culture as a whole. In document A, Thomas Jefferson, the current President at
the time, sent a letter to Meriwether Lewis with specific instructions on how to approach the Native
Indians which was in a placatory and friendly fashion (Document A).

The War Of The American Revolution
No conflict in American history is as well known then the American Revolutionary war. War
between the colonies and Great Britain began in April of 1775 and, in a years time, the conflict will
grow into one of the most arduous wars ever fought. After eight years of a hard fought war, the
colonists eventually won their independence over the British. Rooted in the conflict are countless
causes and events that ultimately shaped the country into how it is today. The American Revolution
also influenced Contemporary American society and even on Pluralism. There is no main specific
cause that led to the war. According to one article, the conflict arose from growing tensions between
residents of Great Britain s thirteen North American colonies and the colonial government, which
represented the British crown ( American Revolutionary History, 2009). The numerous causes of
the war were rooted in the colonies demand for independence from Great Britain. Many believed
that the colonies could function independently without Britain s aid; however, Britain s claim to the
land was that the colonies were established to aid Britain and to do what best suited the mother
country. This principle was illustrated in the outcome of the French and Indian war, that lasted
from 1754 to 1763. In the conflict, Britain declared war on France to stop the French from gaining
control of land in the colonies that Britain thought belonged to them. Britain won the conflict;
however, it left them

Flat Management And Transparency Worked For Them Essay
This post is inpsired by a post I found recently on inc.com
I found this title to be very intriguing. So much so that I decided to do some research as to why Flat
management and transparency worked for them.
So Here is why!
Introduction
Flat management is an organizational structure which eliminates intermediate executive levels and
their functions. In this, the top most level of management is in directly intertwined with frontline
customers, employees on the floor and salespeople. Undeterred by their breath, flat management
can be benefited from various advantages for the customer like faster response times and also other
customer preferences.
From increased productivity to faster decision making, here are 5 compelling reasons as to why flat
or horizontal management could work for your company.
1. Focus on core Products:
With a flat management system there is more time to listen to your customers and their reviews on
the products. Thus giving you the feedback you need to refine your the product. With a Flat
structure you don t have to deal with the nitty gritties of Human Resources or any issues related to
it. Departmental meetings are also not required. Staff meetings, however, should be conducted at
least once every week so that you can have a clear status about the state of the business. In this
meeting you get a good opportunity to discuss on ideas and techniques offering customer service
suggestions, content, new product features etc.
It has been found that flat

Essay about Africa Before European Arrival
Africa Before European Arrival People of the early African kingdoms were able to create
successful trade routes with Europe and Asia, become very wealthy from conquering and gaining
land, and were able to have a strong central government. All of this was done before the
Europeans had reached Africa. Trade flourished on the East African coast, especially when trading
was established with India and Arabia. African kingdoms were prosperous, because of their
success with not only trading but also with their ability to conquer land. A governmental structure
is key to allowing any kingdom to thrive, and the African people were able to achieve this. Once
Africa got involved with the major trading centers, trade improved and they were able... Show more

In the kingdom of Benin, making castes with bronze was introduced to the rest of the world.
Now this kind of work is done with clay, and wax, and red metal (copper), and soldier (zinc) and
lead, and fire...Next it is set aside to cool, then (the outside covering of clay) is broken off,
(Document 7). The art of creating bronze castes was very popular in Benin and the popularity
soon spread to most of Northern Africa. Even before Europeans came to Africa, the kingdoms in
Africa were quite wealthy. As previously mentioned, Ghana was a very strong kingdom in
which its people were also incredibly wealthy. Their government appeared to be wealthy as well,
which assisted Ghana in being able to control the gold and salt trade. An Arab scholar, Al Bakri,
wrote about the king s court and how basically everything that the court had was gold (Document
2). The point of view of this document was also positive, and that is because scholars are usually
upper class, just like the king s court. Al Bakri thought very highly of the court, and explains in
detail how every person has some gold on them and how their surroundings also possessed gold.
Ghana had a strong army and an intelligent political counsel, which made other countries fear them.
Nations around Ghana did not want to start problems and usually just maintained peace with Ghana
(Document 3). Ghana was not the only successful kingdom, one of the leaders of Mali, Mansa

Wisdom In Socrates The Apology
Socrates, the protagonist of The Apology believes he is providing wisdom to the city of Athens,
which is his service to God. Though, very simple, Socrates professes his own ignorance to the jury
through out his apology . What is quite interesting about his wisdom is the fact that he does not
know what he does not know. Furthermore, Socratesbelieves that he is the greatest philosopher of all
time and therefore, must never stop philosophizing. In relation, Socrates goes on and on about virtue
and happiness, which is what he believes makes him the greatest philosopher of all time. Socrates
is very brutally honest, straight forward, and to the point. It is because of this that he feels his

Symbols In The Dreamers
The Dreamers is a film by Berrnardo Bertolucci, loosely translated from The Holy Innocents, a
novel by Gilbert Adair, meaning that youth, naivety, and innocence could all be synonymous
with a bleeding heart liberal waiting to be heartbroken by the harsh realities of life. Matthew is
an American cinephile studying French in Paris where he meets Isabelle and Theo, twin
cinephiles that are archetypal French citizens in 1968. When the viewer meets Isabelle, she is
depicted with a beret, a cigarette with a holder, chained to the cinematheque, which the narrator
/viewer s surrogate says, only the French would put a cinema in a palace. When the viewer meets
Theo, he is dressed in a black turtleneck and suede blazer. How French. In Spring 68, France was
going through yet another revolution. The Communist and Socialist Parties band together to
stop the reign of capitalism and de Gaulle. This film guides the viewer through the frivolous
escapades of an eccentric trio during a time of hostility. Using characterization, dialogue, and
mise en scene, the film depicts leftist ideologies and their tainted branches during the 1968
French revolution through the corruption of one of the unorthodox twins, Isabelle. Isabelle is
the epitome of tabula rasa; meaning that she is whatever the person she is trying to please
would like her to be. She is an actor playing a part in her specified director s piece; she is clay
awaiting to be molded; and she is the vessel that takes the viewer through the plotline. Her
identity, or lack of, is evident through the mise en scene of her room. The pastel pinks and
beiges adorning her walls paired with the teddy bears on her bed and the orderly, conservative
way her bed is made is so blatantly juvenile. Isabelle is a cinephile, she sees the images on screen
and longs to become those images, yet in her room there is no evidence of her cinephilia. There
are medical instruments, ice skates, and everything is so clean. Towards the beginning of the film,
Isabelle addresses Matthew s cleanliness, to which she implies that those who love cinema are less
likely to be clean. Yet Isabelle s room is the cleanest in the home. The medical instruments are
evidence that Isabelle is

Schubert Symphony No. 944, The Great
Schubert Symphony No. 9, D. 944, The Great
I. Andante, Allegro ma non troppo | II. Andante con moto | III. Scherzo: Allegro vivace | IV.
Allegro vivace
Schubert s Symphony No. 9 in C major was composed between the spring of 1825 and the winter
of 1826. The work was premiered in its entirety (minus a few cuts) on March 21, 1839, over 10
years after the composer s death. Robert Schumann was the man largely responsible for the
premiere, as he had discovered the manuscript while on a visit to see Schubert s brother, Ferdinand.
Schumann entrusted his friend Felix Mendelssohn with the score and the task of bringing the music
to the public, offering the following sentiment: Here, besides sheer musical mastery of the
technique of composition is, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schubert not only handles an abundance of melodies with dexterity and innovation, but he also
shows his mastery of rhythmic variation and dynamic impact in the lively Allegro movement
proper. The beautifully contrasting second movement features a sonatina design with no real
development. The six rhythmic themes are presented in a strikingly systemic manner that highlights
the movement s pure architecture, a feature that makes it an important model throughout the 19th
century. The spirit of the Scherzo, in which Schubert follows the Venetian model, is in one word
Beethovenian. In this movement, one can hear far reaching harmonic trips (C major C# minor) as
well as richly scored dance tunes, which Schubert was known to often improvise at dances and
gatherings. The last movement of the work is an explosion of fearless energy and virtuosity. In a
central episode, Schubert incorporates an echo of Ode to Joy as homage to the great symphonic
figurehead and his personal hero, Beethoven. The resilience that can be heard in the intense
jubilation and exhilaration of the finale of his last symphony parallels Schubert s remarkable outlook
on life until the very

Uh-1 Huey Helicopter In Korean War
Centuries before the Korean War, wars were long and painful events that any man could ever go
through. Troops would match from countries to countries, crossing mountains, trial through the
forest, and wander the desert to meet with their enemy in battle. The only problem with the troops
traveling so far for so long is that before the war ever starts, the men were fatigued and casualty
rates were higher than they should be. By the Korean War, an amazing machine was introduced to
the military ranks, turning the tide in warfighting and troop survivability. UH 1 Huey Helicopter, or

Latino American Discrimination Have you ever given mind to why it is important for us as

receiving fair share of pay in jobs or labor from working the same hours as to a white or black
person. Finally, to feel that as human beings that have the right to live away of their countries
without being segregated, discriminated or even ignored from public needs. Well, in this paper I
will talk about the whole process of the discrimination and some of my personal experiences with
the topic. Latin culture is a growing number in the U.S.A. from the past to our modern era. Most of
the U.S.A. is inhabited by Latino families, such as, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Costa Ricans, and
Mexicans. Over seventeen percent of people living in the United Statesare Hispanic and Latin based
families. These families are found in all states, but mainly reside in Florida, Texas, Arizona, or
even New Mexico. However, there is a slight problem in our modern day life and it is
discrimination of Hispanics and Latino Americans. Hispanic families and Latino families are

The And The Glass Menagerie
Mothers are typically seen as kind, loving, and nurturing, at least in a perfect world, that s how
they are. Rather, in the real world many of us wish that is how all mothers are. Various situations
can lead to a woman to be too mothering. It is a factor that transcends real life. This conflict
causing dynamic is very prevalent in numerous stories, films, and plays. Two plays where it is
shown in significance are Machinal and The Glass Menagerie. In both cases, the actions taken by
the motherroles in the shows, resulted in some of the character s roles ending in unfortunate
events of some sort. Sophie Treadwell s Machinal was loosely based and inspired by the murder
trial of Ruth Snyder and Judd Gray, her lover. Together they conspired and murdered Snyder s
husband. Convicted of these crimes, Snyder was sentenced to death and executed by the electric
chair. The title of the play as it implies, is French for automatic or mechanical . A woman
s role in
society during this period of time was confined and regulated primarily to that of a wifeand more
often than not, a mother, homemaker, and sexual partner. Love was not considered necessary, and
as a result, numerous women were trapped in a dependent status upon men during the 1920 s
whether intended or not, living a life of a loveless marriage, and a trapped existence in a male
dominated, oppressive wasteland. These norms are what the mother in the play expected her
daughter to live by.The young woman s

History Of The Berlin Wall
The Cold War by nature divided Europe in two camps capitalist West, and communist East. This
slowed down the political, economic and social integration drastically. As Winston Churchill put it,
an iron Curtain had descended across Europe. Consequently, Europe was more divided than any
other time in history. Germanywas divided into east and west. Berlin itself was also divided into
similar territories which caused a huge economic, political and social strain on its people. The
construction of the Berlin wall was one of the pivotal moments of the Cold Waras it served as a
physical illustration of the iron Curtain . Today however, Germany has become the economic
hotspot of the EU so evidently the Cold War only hindered/delayed the inevitable

Polymer
In this study, polymer of [AgL]n was immobilized onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode
(GCE), which leads to the efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of Dibucaine and Naphazoline. The
GCE was previously tested in PBS buffer (pH = 3) before polymer were drop coated on it. It
presented no redox process in the potential range applied. The working electrode coated with
polymer of [AgL]n was immersed in the electrolyte solution for 20 min prior to the measurement
to ensure the diffusion of the solution to the interlayer space and permit better ionic exchange. The
cyclic voltammograms were recorded for Dibucaine and Naphazoline at modified electrode and
are shown in Fig.4. As it can be seen, at the surface of the modified electrode, oxidations of
Dibucaine and Naphazoline are irreversible processes. These results indicate that the electron
transfer rate is quite slow. Such slow electron transfer kinetics is due to the electrode fouling caused
by the evidence of Dibucaine and Naphazoline and their oxidation products.
In addition, at modified electrode, oxidation of these compounds resulted in a typical

Inactivated influenza vaccines are of three types namely the whole virus vaccines, split virus
vaccines and subunit vaccines (http://www.who.int/biologicals/vaccines/influenza/en/).
Whole virus vaccines
These vaccine preparation are made by harvesting the allantoic fluid followed by chemically
inactivation using_ОІ propiolactone or formalin, and subsequently it is concentrated and purified to
remove non viral protein contaminants (Wong S., Webby R. , 2013).The use of whole virus
vaccines was reduced because of higher incidence of side effects when compared with the other
formulations. In present time it has regained interest in the context of pandemic vaccine

Why Has the Industrialization in the Nineteenth Century...
Napoleon Bonaparte s main aim is to keep himself in power by using social, economic, and
political means. Napoleon attempts to maintain his power through social policies. The Concordat
of 1801 is an agreement between the Pope and Napoleon which allows for the Catholic Churches
to return to France. This is significant because it allows for Napoleon to not only win over the
people of France by returning their religion to them, but the agreement also gives Napoleon easy
access to spreading propaganda. With the help of the church, Napoleon can also promote
conscription and increase the size of his army in order to maintain his control over a majority of
Europe. Napoleon uses censorship to hide or give false information to the people of France. With
the help of the prefects in each department, Napoleon essentially has total control of the
information the people of France can or cannot know, allowing him to maintain a positive persona
in France. Napoleon recognizes that in order to avoid another revolution and to maintain power, he
must manipulate the society. Napoleon attempts to use economic means to keep himself in power.
First, Napoleon institutes the Continental System in 1806 as an attempt to weaken Great Britain s
economy. The Royal Navy is practically undefeatable at this time and it is obvious that Great
Britain rules the seas. Napoleon quickly discovers he cannot defeat the island of Great Britain by
attacking with his army, after his lose at the Battle of Trafalgar,

The Indians also gathered founds that were found in the environment, like berries, nuts, tubers, and
seeds. (Seminole 626)
The jobs of gathering and growing plants were doled out to the women. They also had to prepare
and cook the food that the men obtained. Most of the time, they baked boiled, or broiled the food.
The women also preserved the food that they collect, such as plums and persimmons. (Garbarino

clearing land and harvesting, but the men s main jobs were to hunt, fish, and battle.
(Seminole Indians 290) The men hunted animals for their hides in addition to their meats. The most
hunted for animals were: deer, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, bears, turkeys, ducks, and geese. The
Indians also ate alligator meat, turtle meat, shellfish, and fresh and salt water fish. (Garbarino 15)
The Indians lived in villages that ranged in size from 20 to 100 houses and in population from

H Freewill Symbolism
Symbolism is an important factor in the adjustment bureau, and plays a prominent part
throughout the story. The Chairman is the most mysterious of symbols, he is a figure we never
get to see or we don t realize we have seen it, and I think that was on purpose. Maybe the
chairman isn t shown to allow people of different beliefs to feel connected to a higher being. But
what we do understand is what the chairman represents; it represents a being whose power is
beyond all else and one who can see and predict everything. The chairman is supposed to
symbolize a god, but is that really what itis or is it just an elected position that can be held by
anyone. A God is seen as an almighty being that controls all, and created all. The chairman is like
a god but he didn t create the world, he just runs it. The chairman has the ability to rewrite people s
memory and even change their fate, but does that make him a god? In the movie the agents refer to

to fit the path that is laid out for them. Even if the agents manipulate people s lives they don t

idea to humanity but yet we cannot prove if we actually have it. The reason for humanity s
freewill to be taken away is they aren t able to use reason to solve issues they let emotion do it
instead. Every time humanity is given a chance at freewill they mess it up by causing wars and

established many important artistic and philosophical ideals that have lasted for thousands of
years. The Hellenistic Age began after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE (atg
timeline). His conquest of Persia after the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BCE technically spurred
Hellenism, or the spreading of Greek culture (adtp). Alexander the Great s empire of over seventy
cities spread all the way from the west of the Mediterranean to the east of Persia, and became a
hotbed for the mixing of cultures (thought co). People within this territory assimilated the Greek
language, which then allowed for the spread of other parts of Greek culture, like arts, philosophy,
and literature (world of atg). After conquering Persia, Alexander the Great began to introduce
aspects of Greek culture through his new empire in many different ways. He encouraged his
soldiers to marry with Persian women in order to

I chose to log my daily diet, exercise and rest for a week to find what changes I can make to
better my health. I found so many things that I can change to help me with all three of these
areas. I might even need to keep track every week of my habits so I feel more organized and
have everything planned out so I don t get off track of my goals. I found with my diet I do pretty
well with the foods I currently eat. When I go to the grocery store I always go through the

to know what I need to buy for the meals I have chosen but also to look at all of the deals they

myself to eat healthy after I started gaining weight and was feeling icky. I couldn t believe how

need to take care of your body and you don t want to just feed yourself junk food and pack on the

International Trade Law Flexibilities And Their Utilization
3.International Trade Law Flexibilities and their Utilization in Africa
Thirty nine African states are in the WTO. These states have the duty to comply with the WTO
treaties, which among others includes the TRIPS Agreement. The Agreement requires states to
respect the rights of patent holders over their products. Accordingly, only the patentowner has an
exclusive right to make, use, to offer for sale, sell, or import the product. Nevertheless, amendments
to the TRIPS Agreement issued exceptions that favor the public health needs of least developed
countries. Among the thirty nine WTO member states from Africatwenty four are direct
beneficiaries of these flexibilities as they are included in the Least Developed Country list of the
UN. Four of the exceptions to the TRIPS Agreement and their use in Africa are discussed below.
3.1.Compulsory License
As per the main TRIPS Agreement the government of the country where the patent is registered
was allowed to authorize the supply of the product only for domestic market without the consent of
the patent owner. Amendment to the TRIPS agreement introduced the compulsory license
exception, which allows countries to allow production and sale of patented pharmaceutical products
to least developed countries, and to countries that requested the application of compulsory license
exception, without the patent holder s consent.
Utilization of compulsory license requires proper regulation and planning from governments of both

Girl And Poem Barbie Doll By Susan Glaspell s Trifles
Women from generation to generation have been entrapped by society s narrow definitions of
feminine behavior, beauty, and rights. They bore to serve and take care of their husband, children,
and family. Women, based on historical information, did not have right to vote, until the nearly the
end of 1920. The first state that adapt to the women voting right was Colorado. The short storyGirl
written by Jamaica Kincaid, a Poem Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy, and a drama play Trifles by
Susan Glaspell, share similarities about how women should behave, and act from their girlhood till
they grown up and become a perfect womanthat society expected them to be.
Girl written by Jamaica Kincaid and was published in 1978. It was her first of ten stories in At
the Bottom of the River. The story is about a young girl who instructs by her mother in the duties
of how a woman is expected to become in life inspired by limited opportunities for girls at her
teenager ages. Her instructions underscore that the women must master all kinds of domestic
chores. She has to learn How to sweep the whole house...how to set the table for breakfast...how
to set the table for dinner... (Girl, p.121) Most importantly, that she needs to learn is how you
smile to someone that you don t like at all; this is how you smile to someone you like
completely. (Girl, p. 121) Moreover, she will have to learn everything that will able to help her
to become a woman that could be responsible in life and take good care of her own family in the
future. In all, the mother is just trying her best to instructing her daughter how to be a good and a
respected girl in a patriarchal society. A society which sees women either angels or devils.
Next is about Barbie Doll written by Marge Piercy. For generations, every girl have seen and played
will Barbie doll and many have always wanted to become just like her: the party girl, career women
and the beauty queen all in one. In Marge Piercy s poem, the title Barbie Doll is about a girl who
fatally entrapped by society s idea of every girl should be perfect from head to toes. In the casket
displayed on satin she lay..., dressed in a pink and white nightie. (Barbie Doll, p522) Piercy uses a

Ancient Greek Philosophers
There has been much debate as to what change is, and is not. Ancient Greek Philosophers were
not indifferent to this. The early Greek Philosophers tried to explain what our world is comprised
of, whether it is monism (one true stuff, or reality), or pluralism (more than one reality, or stuff ).
They then proceeded to try to elaborate and explain how change and motion occur. Heraclitus
conclusion can be summed up in a quote of his: One cannot step into the same river twice.
Parmenidesand Zeno, unlike Heraclitus, came to the conclusion that the world was practically
an unmovable brick; there is no change, there is no motion. Finally, Epicurus came to the
conclusion that the world was formed from indivisible, and constantly colliding atoms.
Heraclitus was a monist. His interpretation of the one and true reality was fire. This is not to be
taken literally, because Heraclitus believed that the one could never be any material thing, but
was found in the orderliness of change. He said fire was always changing yet somehow is always
the same. He believed that everything is being changed constantly, and this is occurring through a
state of flux. By having orderliness, it becomes possible for the human mind to comprehend the
world, instead of it being entirely chaotic and based on the will of gods. Since the rate of change
is constant, an appearance of permanence exists. Hence, one cannot step into the same river twice.

Examples Of Rite Of Passage In Ayn Rand s Anthem
A rite of passage is a transition from one stage of life to another. These passages are pursued when
one passes a milestone such as birth, maturity, and achieving adulthood. These milestones will
clearly show changes in the characters life. It involves significant change in their views, and of
society. A rite of passageis shown in Anthem, Shakespeare Bats Cleanup, and Great Expectations.

Examples Of Silhouette Signs
The initial reaction to this sign is there are three people running somewhere; where there is one

father, mother and a little girl with pigtails running by bending their bodies toward as if into the
wind which has a yellow color background and the word on it i.e. CAUTION. 3. The sign is
meant to warn the drivers about illegal immigrants crossing and advising them to watch for
people crossing the road. This is apparent because it is clearly visible and understandable. 4. The

The older you get the more brittle you become. We should house every homeless veteran so they are

Furthermore, due to yearly sporting events such as UEFA Champions league, Super Bowl and
the enormous interest in sport generally, the demand for sport products are high. The sports

Large Income Inequality In The United States
Imagine the cool, refreshing feeling of ice cold water colliding with the dusty, dry caked layer

that started boiling inside of you in the hot, scorching midsummer blaze. You soon found a sense
of sympathy when you realized that the guy behind you in line did not even get a single drop of
water. In fact, out of the 90 workers, less than one third of you actually got a single cup of water.
After a few moments passed and the mental and physical stress started affecting your production,

The Social And Environmental Levels
The ecological approach is simply a theory stating that the different social and environmental levels
with which one interacts, has in turn an overall affect on one s growth. Through analysis of the
NICHS study, which was performed with the basis of 68 biological fathers and 68 step fathers to
determine whether contextual factors associated with involvement and interaction patterns differed
between the two, several differences were observed overtime. To preface, it was stated that mere
contact between the father and the child is insufficient, and it is proven that quality of time is
greater than the quantity of it. The level of involvement of a father is truly measured in terms of the
division of work between the motherand the father himself, and his perception of his contribution to
child related tasks within the family; although it was analyzed that stepfathers assumed to have
similar levels of responsibility for childbearing actives as biological fathers did, it was also proven
that stepfathers are less engaged and less emotionally close with their stepchildren than biological
fathers. Overall, proving that although both do not differ in their initial levels of involvement,
stepfathers do differ in their quality of interactions with their stepchildren. The best way to use the
ecological approach to observe fatherhood would be by accounting for Bronfenbrenner s four facets
including: person, process, context, and time to observe development.

Case Study Of Luuxottica
The Italian firm Luxottica is relatively a monopolistic company that controls several aspects of
the eyewear industry. Because its product can be considered as necessities or luxury items and
because at least half a billion people are wearing its product, as what the CEO said, the company
has the advantage of market share. Additionally, Luxottica is a firm that knows how to
revolutionize its product. They made an uncool product cool by turning glasses into high fashion.
Nevertheless, Luxottica can be regarded as a stealthy, powerful company. The company does not

Luxottica is big and manipulative and has been in the business for a long time. Big countries
such as China, India, and Brazil are even buying from Luxottica. To beat Luxottica, an individual
or company must have the resources, the relationships with numerous brand names, and the
distribution centers to sell eyewear. Even if the video mentioned that Luxottica has competitors
such as big retail stores like Walmart and Costco and emerging online companies like Warby
Parker, these could not possibly beat Luxottica. The competitors may offer lower prices and have
a focused market but they probably would not be able to win over Luxottica that easily. The video
mentioned that Luxottica already owns Ray Ban and Oakley, the two top premium sunglass
brands in the world. Other competitors are choked by Luxottica as well; if they make glasses, they
would want to be in Luxottica stores and if they have stores, they would want to sell Ray Bans.
Luxottica can essentially set any price they want. Perhaps if there are significantly more sellers who
could show consumers that their products function the same way as Luxottica products and that
consumers could afford these at a lower price with the same or better quality, then this could
probably start breaking the monopolistic control of Luxottica. However, they would need to

each coloured strand represented and contained a single tale. Different parts of the ocean contained

The passage personifies the ocean by talking of its playful nature of the currents weaving in and
out of one another and its ability to change, as it has a mind of its own. The last sentence within
the passage states it was not dead but alive the use of short sentencing emphasised its point and
indicates its importance. However this short verse changes the mood of the passage, the reader is
confronted by the abrupt word dead this single word changes the tone of the sentence and explores
that along with the capability to be alive there also is the capability to be dead. This foreshadows
the next passage and the future of the ocean.
Within the passage the metaphor of the ocean being a library is emphasised, it states that it is the
biggest library in the universe this metaphor is used to try and example the extent of the sea and
how many stories it possesses, connecting it to a familiar idea for the reader. However the
metaphor is later contradicted renouncing the oceans likeness to a library of books due to the fluid
form of the stories and their changing nature and ability to become new versions and to join up with
other stories. It presents the ocean to be much more. This is revisited throughout the novel,
exampling how the ocean is much more and how it is a health source to plentimaws fish, directly
impacting them as the ocean becomes more toxic, as well as a way of life to all members of gup city.

Star Wars. Harry Potter. The Marvel Cinematic Universe. These seemingly unrelated movie
franchises seem to not have a lot in common other than the fact that they were all uber successful.
In actuality, however, they have a lot more in common than that. These movie franchises at one
point or another have served as the modern media mythological framework for a period of time.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has used a slightly altered Hero s Cycle, archetypes and the
teaching of life lessons to create a modern mythology that fulfills Joseph Campbell s fourth
function of myth and has also become a modern media mythological framework that has already
begun to be copied.
Joseph Campbell first introduced the idea of a Hero s Cycle in his book The Hero with a Thousand
Faces. The Hero s Cycle is a series of several steps that a typical hero story, whether an ancient
Greek story such as Hercules or a modern story told through film like Star Wars, follows. The main

Archetypes along with the hero s cycle have really been the foundation that all modern
mythological media have been built on. If you applied the hero s cycle and the main archetypes
typically used in myth to Star Wars, Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, you would see similar
results as shown by comparing these to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These movies all have a
very similar structure but it is often the lessons that the story focuses in on that set the movies
apart. The Harry Potter books and movies, for example, placed a much larger emphasis on the
problems facing a typical school child, than really any movie series had before. This is what made
it unique. The Marvel Cinematic Universe, in a similar fashion, has focused on teaching several
lessons to the audiences that watch these

Why Do I Want To Be Alpha Phi Alpha
Why do I want to be a member of Alpha Phi Alpha? The question was asked, why do I want to be
a member of Alpha Phi Alpha? Before answering the question, I would like to talk about myself
as this will provide a greater context to my response. For the last 10 years or so of my life, I
have dedicated myself to be a servant leader by creating opportunities for others. As a child, I
grew up in a challenging environment but through my faith in God, many of my bad decisions
were turned around to be learning lessons and breadcrumbs to greater opportunities. As I lacked
a role model, I have made it my personal quest to be a role model to others so that they don t
have to learn so many lessons the hard way, as I did. To that end, I have been an advocate and
champion of Advancing Minorities Interest in Engineering (AMIE), I serve as the Liaison for The
Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), as well as the President of the Mordecai Group...

network with other engineers, as well as provide them exposure to construction activities. By being
a champion for this program, I have created lasting relationships, which I have been able to
leverage to create opportunities for other young aspiring

Tee Talent Case Study
Next, there is going to be five event recommendations on which Tee Talent can sponsor. The first
three events are with organizations that have social missions that relate directly to
accommodating people with disabilities, while the last two events are with organizations that
have different types of social missions. It s important for Tee Talent to sponsor organizations
with social missions that relate directly accommodating people with disabilities because it aligns
with Tee Talent s mission of inclusion. This will help grow the business as Tee Talent will be
able to connect with clients who have similar goals. However, it is important to also look at
organizations who have different social missions as Tee Talent will be able to reach a larger
audience. Although Tee Talent s social mission may be different, sponsoring organizations with
different social missions is a good way to grow Tee Talents client base as it reaches a larger
audience. For example, companies such as Home Hardware sponsor the Food Bank of Waterloo
Region even though Home Hardware has very little to do with food (Sponsorship Opportunities,
n.d.). Sponsoring organizations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mission is supporting self determination for adults with physical disabilities based upon the

n.d.). Tee Talent can engage with this organization by sponsorship, donations, or volunteering.
Kitchener Waterloo Access Ability also often works with other individuals or organizations in an
advocacy role. Working with this organization provides Tee Talent the ability to promote their brand
while helping others that meet similar social

Overfishing Research Paper
Millions of people rely on the ocean for basic nutrition in their diet as well as financially, but the
majority of those people do not know what effects of catching that fish might have on the
ecosystem. Overfishing has been done for century s and continues to this day with the first group of
fishermen hauling in nearly 500 pounds of fishper fishermen on an eighteen to thirty man vessel in
the 11th century. Lack of government also contributes to the problem of life in the ocean to ensure
there is an equal balance. Although enforcing laws can ensure the survivability of the oceans

A way to do this is limit the number of fish a vessel can catch, but that vassal secures a share of
the catch for the members to do as they please. Meghan Marrero, an author for National
Geographic, stated The goal of fisheries management is to develop regulations based on
scientific data. These regulations may be based on knowledge of species life histories,
migration patterns, or other information (Marrero, paragraph 24). A preferred method by cretin
smaller fishermen is the traditional hood and reel which limits the number of fish one can haul
in a single day due to the size of their boat along with the number of people on board or farm fish
to ensure the health of the wild population. Still, the reefs are in danger due to the decline of fish
populations, some companies along with the U.S. Navy, sink ships to create artificial reefs or

Lack of Female Characters in The Strange Case of Dr....
Even the most casual reader can note the fact that there are very few female characters present in
Robert Louis Stevenson s 19th century novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Those that are found within the work hardly constitute as substantial ones none of the women have
more than a few lines of dialogue and appear within the tale for longer than a chapter or two. A
bevy of critics have pointed out the fact that such an egregious omission is hardly coincidental in
fact, more than a few have cited the fact that this piece of literature functions as a protest regarding
the degree of women s liberation that the New Womanpossessed near the turn of the 20th century in
Victorian England (Reed 2). When considered through this feminist lens, it becomes easily
discernible to the prudent reader that Stevenson portrayed no femalecharacters in a positive light
and simply used them to reinforce negative aspects of femininity, which he believed were rapidly
changing for the worse.
Some critics have advanced the notion that one of the reasons there is such a paucity of women
and of strong, beneficent women in particular within this story is due to what they represented in
typical Victorian England society. Women were generally viewed as a social force or a source of
authority which reinforces this fiction of coherent male identity (Doane and Hodges 63). This
quotation suggests the fact that women were generally the keepers of morality and virtue within
Victorian

What Role Does Media Play In Presidential Elections
The role the media played in the 2017 presidential election Media plays an ever increasing role in
presidential elections. The various forms of media affect presidential elections primarily by the
slant each chooses to take in reporting about a candidate or party. The personal bias of a reporter
or network often comes through in a news story, even when it is not intended. This causes major
backlash from candidates and voters alike. Does this apparent bias change the mind of voters or
ultimately rig the outcome of our election? The effect of media bias is obvious when comparing
minutes each candidate is talked about on air. For example, An analysis for CNN s Reliable
Sources showed that talk about Trump totaled 36 minutes

Essay on The Irish Republican Army Ideology
The Irish Republican Army Ideology
The Irish Republican Army ideology is still living in Northern Ireland, nearly a century after the
organization s establishment. Although the IRA has since disbanded, the spirit is kept alive by a
number of splinter factions, including the Provisional, Continuity, and Real IRAs. Not many
terrorist organizations can maintain a campaign this extensive in time. The long history of the IRA
campaign of terror leads to many political, social, religious, educational and economic effects. It
also contributes to international problems about which we may only be able to speculate.
The most violent splinter group from the Provisional IRA is named the Real Irish ... Show more

The group predominantly participates in bombings, especially car bombs; however, the U.S.
Department of State says they have also been involved in robberies and assassinations. Their targets
include the police in Northern Ireland, Protestant communities in Northern Ireland, the British
military, and civilians, according to the State Department. There is a good deal of conflicting
information regarding the number of attacks committed by the Real IRA. According to the MIPT
Terrorism Knowledge Base, the rIRA have participated in 29 total incidents, while the State
Department says that there have been more than 80 attacks since 1999. Another report stated that
the rIRA was responsible for nine terrorist attacks in 1998 alone, including its most deadly
(Melaugh).
The most effective attack by the Real IRA occurred on August 15, 1998 in Omagh, Northern
Ireland. On that day 29 people were killed and around 220 were wounded. Among the dead was a
woman who was 8 months pregnant with twins. A false warning was issued 30 minutes before the
bomb went off to Ulster Television in Belfast. Law enforcement officials moved people away from
the location of the warning, only to have moved them closer to the actual location, causing even
more injury (Omagh). The public was so outraged with the bombing that the Real IRA announced
they were ceasing all military operations,

How Muscle Growth Affects Your Body After Weight Training...
Have you always wondered if there s a less time consuming way that you can build muscle, yet
still gives you the results you would get if you worked out daily in the gym? It s not exactly
easy, but it is possible. By varying the intensity of your exercise session and taking a nice
recovery period after, you ll see that you can build your muscles with less effort and become
stronger. Many studies have been done on musclegrowth. Much of that research points to the theory
that you need to rest your body after weight trainingin order to build muscles more effectively. It s
also been said that muscles can continue to adjust to their new growth and strength for time
periods as high as 21 days after the last workout. It s been noted by some fitness buffs that they
could reduce their exercisetime by two thirds and still achieve the same amount of muscle growth
that they otherwise would have noticed with everyday workouts. Many fitness enthusiasts are
spending way too much time working out, which means their muscles don t have time to recover.
This is unhealthy for muscle growth for your body. Working out too much can actually damage
your health and hamper your muscle building efforts. You may find yourself suffering from a
weaker immune system. You might also get sick or injured easily. So how to you determine how
long you should let your muscles recover after a workout? When you have intense workouts,
remember that your muscles take four to seven days to fully recover.

  • 2. The Nsa s National Security Agency The National Security Agency s (NSA) warrantless collection of metadata has been questioned on constitutional grounds. Specifically, the NSA s program has been argued to be in violation of the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, which states that all citizens are to be free from any unreasonable search or seizure. Proponents of the NSA s collection of metadata believe that it is a crucial tool in preventing terrorist attacks, while opponents of the program believe that its questionable constitutional validity, along with its lack of clear success in preventing a single terrorist attack, leaves the NSA s metadata collection program in desperate need of reform or outright abolishment. I.THE NSA S PURPOSE AND THE EVOLUTION OF GOVERNMENT SURVEILLANCE It is important to note what the NSA is tasked to do before discussing the constitutional arguments against its metadata program. As Abdulmajeed Alhogbani, in his work, Going Dark: Scratching the Surface of Government Surveillance, informs, the agency has two tasks: 1) information assurance, which prevents foreign agents from obtaining classified information, and 2) signals intelligence, which collects and analyzes foreign intelligence (475). Metadata collection does not fall under either of these tasks. Prior to the establishment of the National Security Agency in 1952, the earliest surveillance measure enacted in the United States was the Communications Act of 1934, which centralized the regulatory process of ... This acquired piece of land came to be known as the Louisiana Purchase. The territory consisted of various Native Indian tribes which Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to explore. Based on the provided documents, the conclusion that can be made is that Lewis and Clark were not respectful to the Native Americans because not only did they kill members of their tribe, but they wiped out their culture as a whole. In document A, Thomas Jefferson, the current President at the time, sent a letter to Meriwether Lewis with specific instructions on how to approach the Native Indians which was in a placatory and friendly fashion (Document A). ... • 5. The War Of The American Revolution No conflict in American history is as well known then the American Revolutionary war. War between the colonies and Great Britain began in April of 1775 and, in a years time, the conflict will grow into one of the most arduous wars ever fought. After eight years of a hard fought war, the colonists eventually won their independence over the British. Rooted in the conflict are countless causes and events that ultimately shaped the country into how it is today. The American Revolution also influenced Contemporary American society and even on Pluralism. There is no main specific cause that led to the war. According to one article, the conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain s thirteen North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown ( American Revolutionary History, 2009). The numerous causes of the war were rooted in the colonies demand for independence from Great Britain. Many believed that the colonies could function independently without Britain s aid; however, Britain s claim to the land was that the colonies were established to aid Britain and to do what best suited the mother country. This principle was illustrated in the outcome of the French and Indian war, that lasted from 1754 to 1763. In the conflict, Britain declared war on France to stop the French from gaining control of land in the colonies that Britain thought belonged to them. Britain won the conflict; however, it left them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So much so that I decided to do some research as to why Flat management and transparency worked for them. So Here is why! Introduction Flat management is an organizational structure which eliminates intermediate executive levels and their functions. In this, the top most level of management is in directly intertwined with frontline customers, employees on the floor and salespeople. Undeterred by their breath, flat management can be benefited from various advantages for the customer like faster response times and also other customer preferences. From increased productivity to faster decision making, here are 5 compelling reasons as to why flat or horizontal management could work for your company. 1. Focus on core Products: With a flat management system there is more time to listen to your customers and their reviews on the products. Thus giving you the feedback you need to refine your the product. With a Flat structure you don t have to deal with the nitty gritties of Human Resources or any issues related to it. Departmental meetings are also not required. Staff meetings, however, should be conducted at least once every week so that you can have a clear status about the state of the business. In this meeting you get a good opportunity to discuss on ideas and techniques offering customer service suggestions, content, new product features etc. It has been found that flat ... • 8. Essay about Africa Before European Arrival Africa Before European Arrival People of the early African kingdoms were able to create successful trade routes with Europe and Asia, become very wealthy from conquering and gaining land, and were able to have a strong central government. All of this was done before the Europeans had reached Africa. Trade flourished on the East African coast, especially when trading was established with India and Arabia. African kingdoms were prosperous, because of their success with not only trading but also with their ability to conquer land. A governmental structure is key to allowing any kingdom to thrive, and the African people were able to achieve this. Once Africa got involved with the major trading centers, trade improved and they were able... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The art of creating bronze castes was very popular in Benin and the popularity soon spread to most of Northern Africa. Even before Europeans came to Africa, the kingdoms in Africa were quite wealthy. As previously mentioned, Ghana was a very strong kingdom in which its people were also incredibly wealthy. Their government appeared to be wealthy as well, which assisted Ghana in being able to control the gold and salt trade. An Arab scholar, Al Bakri, wrote about the king s court and how basically everything that the court had was gold (Document 2). The point of view of this document was also positive, and that is because scholars are usually upper class, just like the king s court. Al Bakri thought very highly of the court, and explains in detail how every person has some gold on them and how their surroundings also possessed gold. Ghana had a strong army and an intelligent political counsel, which made other countries fear them. Nations around Ghana did not want to start problems and usually just maintained peace with Ghana (Document 3). Ghana was not the only successful kingdom, one of the leaders of Mali, Mansa Musa, ... • 10. Symbols In The Dreamers The Dreamers is a film by Berrnardo Bertolucci, loosely translated from The Holy Innocents, a novel by Gilbert Adair, meaning that youth, naivety, and innocence could all be synonymous with a bleeding heart liberal waiting to be heartbroken by the harsh realities of life. Matthew is an American cinephile studying French in Paris where he meets Isabelle and Theo, twin cinephiles that are archetypal French citizens in 1968. When the viewer meets Isabelle, she is depicted with a beret, a cigarette with a holder, chained to the cinematheque, which the narrator /viewer s surrogate says, only the French would put a cinema in a palace. When the viewer meets Theo, he is dressed in a black turtleneck and suede blazer. How French. In Spring 68, France was going through yet another revolution. The Communist and Socialist Parties band together to stop the reign of capitalism and de Gaulle. This film guides the viewer through the frivolous escapades of an eccentric trio during a time of hostility. Using characterization, dialogue, and mise en scene, the film depicts leftist ideologies and their tainted branches during the 1968 French revolution through the corruption of one of the unorthodox twins, Isabelle. Isabelle is the epitome of tabula rasa; meaning that she is whatever the person she is trying to please would like her to be. She is an actor playing a part in her specified director s piece; she is clay awaiting to be molded; and she is the vessel that takes the viewer through the plotline. Her identity, or lack of, is evident through the mise en scene of her room. The pastel pinks and beiges adorning her walls paired with the teddy bears on her bed and the orderly, conservative way her bed is made is so blatantly juvenile. Isabelle is a cinephile, she sees the images on screen and longs to become those images, yet in her room there is no evidence of her cinephilia. There are medical instruments, ice skates, and everything is so clean. Towards the beginning of the film, Isabelle addresses Matthew s cleanliness, to which she implies that those who love cinema are less likely to be clean. Yet Isabelle s room is the cleanest in the home. The medical instruments are evidence that Isabelle is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Allegro vivace Schubert s Symphony No. 9 in C major was composed between the spring of 1825 and the winter of 1826. The work was premiered in its entirety (minus a few cuts) on March 21, 1839, over 10 years after the composer s death. Robert Schumann was the man largely responsible for the premiere, as he had discovered the manuscript while on a visit to see Schubert s brother, Ferdinand. Schumann entrusted his friend Felix Mendelssohn with the score and the task of bringing the music to the public, offering the following sentiment: Here, besides sheer musical mastery of the technique of composition is, ... Schubert not only handles an abundance of melodies with dexterity and innovation, but he also shows his mastery of rhythmic variation and dynamic impact in the lively Allegro movement proper. The beautifully contrasting second movement features a sonatina design with no real development. The six rhythmic themes are presented in a strikingly systemic manner that highlights the movement s pure architecture, a feature that makes it an important model throughout the 19th century. The spirit of the Scherzo, in which Schubert follows the Venetian model, is in one word Beethovenian. In this movement, one can hear far reaching harmonic trips (C major C# minor) as well as richly scored dance tunes, which Schubert was known to often improvise at dances and gatherings. The last movement of the work is an explosion of fearless energy and virtuosity. In a central episode, Schubert incorporates an echo of Ode to Joy as homage to the great symphonic figurehead and his personal hero, Beethoven. The resilience that can be heard in the intense jubilation and exhilaration of the finale of his last symphony parallels Schubert s remarkable outlook on life until the very ... Finally, to feel that as human beings that have the right to live away of their countries without being segregated, discriminated or even ignored from public needs. Well, in this paper I will talk about the whole process of the discrimination and some of my personal experiences with the topic. Latin culture is a growing number in the U.S.A. from the past to our modern era. Most of the U.S.A. is inhabited by Latino families, such as, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Costa Ricans, and Mexicans. Over seventeen percent of people living in the United Statesare Hispanic and Latin based families. These families are found in all states, but mainly reside in Florida, Texas, Arizona, or even New Mexico. • 14. The And The Glass Menagerie Mothers are typically seen as kind, loving, and nurturing, at least in a perfect world, that s how they are. Rather, in the real world many of us wish that is how all mothers are. Various situations can lead to a woman to be too mothering. It is a factor that transcends real life. This conflict causing dynamic is very prevalent in numerous stories, films, and plays. Two plays where it is shown in significance are Machinal and The Glass Menagerie. In both cases, the actions taken by the motherroles in the shows, resulted in some of the character s roles ending in unfortunate events of some sort. Sophie Treadwell s Machinal was loosely based and inspired by the murder trial of Ruth Snyder and Judd Gray, her lover. Together they conspired and murdered Snyder s husband. Convicted of these crimes, Snyder was sentenced to death and executed by the electric chair. The title of the play as it implies, is French for automatic or mechanical . A woman s role in society during this period of time was confined and regulated primarily to that of a wifeand more often than not, a mother, homemaker, and sexual partner. Love was not considered necessary, and as a result, numerous women were trapped in a dependent status upon men during the 1920 s whether intended or not, living a life of a loveless marriage, and a trapped existence in a male dominated, oppressive wasteland. These norms are what the mother in the play expected her daughter to live by.The young woman s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The GCE was previously tested in PBS buffer (pH = 3) before polymer were drop coated on it. It presented no redox process in the potential range applied. • 18. Why Has the Industrialization in the Nineteenth Century... Napoleon Bonaparte s main aim is to keep himself in power by using social, economic, and political means. Napoleon attempts to maintain his power through social policies. The Concordat of 1801 is an agreement between the Pope and Napoleon which allows for the Catholic Churches to return to France. This is significant because it allows for Napoleon to not only win over the people of France by returning their religion to them, but the agreement also gives Napoleon easy access to spreading propaganda. With the help of the church, Napoleon can also promote conscription and increase the size of his army in order to maintain his control over a majority of Europe. Napoleon uses censorship to hide or give false information to the people of France. With the help of the prefects in each department, Napoleon essentially has total control of the information the people of France can or cannot know, allowing him to maintain a positive persona in France. Napoleon recognizes that in order to avoid another revolution and to maintain power, he must manipulate the society. Napoleon attempts to use economic means to keep himself in power. First, Napoleon institutes the Continental System in 1806 as an attempt to weaken Great Britain s economy. • 20. H Freewill Symbolism Symbolism is an important factor in the adjustment bureau, and plays a prominent part throughout the story. The Chairman is the most mysterious of symbols, he is a figure we never get to see or we don t realize we have seen it, and I think that was on purpose. Maybe the chairman isn t shown to allow people of different beliefs to feel connected to a higher being. But what we do understand is what the chairman represents; it represents a being whose power is beyond all else and one who can see and predict everything. The chairman is supposed to symbolize a god, but is that really what itis or is it just an elected position that can be held by anyone. A God is seen as an almighty being that controls all, and created all. The chairman is like a god but he didn t create the world, he just runs it. The chairman has the ability to rewrite people s memory and even change their fate, but does that make him a god? Even if the agents manipulate people s lives they don t know and just see it as a coincidence or have no action against it at all. Freewill is an important idea to humanity but yet we cannot prove if we actually have it. The reason for humanity s freewill to be taken away is they aren t able to use reason to solve issues they let emotion do it instead. Every time humanity is given a chance at freewill they mess it up by causing wars and depressions. This is why the agents are necessary in the world to make sure we don t destroy ... The creation of their extravagant culture that focused on the enjoyment of life and the understanding of human emotion is owed to Alexander the Great s conquest of Persia and his decision to mix his native Greek culturewith the cultures of the new lands he now owned in his vast empire. This extremely intriguing age, which lasted for about 300 years, was responsible for many of the ideas that are still upheld in today s culture, and the people of this time established many important artistic and philosophical ideals that have lasted for thousands of years. The Hellenistic Age began after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE (atg timeline). His conquest of Persia after the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BCE technically spurred Hellenism, or the spreading of Greek culture (adtp). Alexander the Great s empire of over seventy cities spread all the way from the west of the Mediterranean to the east of Persia, and became a hotbed for the mixing of cultures (thought co). People within this territory assimilated the Greek language, which then allowed for the spread of other parts of Greek culture, like arts, philosophy, and literature (world of atg). After conquering Persia, Alexander the Great began to introduce aspects of Greek culture through his new empire in many different ways. • 25. Ancient Greek Philosophers There has been much debate as to what change is, and is not. Ancient Greek Philosophers were not indifferent to this. The early Greek Philosophers tried to explain what our world is comprised of, whether it is monism (one true stuff, or reality), or pluralism (more than one reality, or stuff ). They then proceeded to try to elaborate and explain how change and motion occur. Heraclitus conclusion can be summed up in a quote of his: One cannot step into the same river twice. Parmenidesand Zeno, unlike Heraclitus, came to the conclusion that the world was practically an unmovable brick; there is no change, there is no motion. Finally, Epicurus came to the conclusion that the world was formed from indivisible, and constantly colliding atoms. Heraclitus was a monist. His interpretation of the one and true reality was fire. This is not to be taken literally, because Heraclitus believed that the one could never be any material thing, but was found in the orderliness of change. He said fire was always changing yet somehow is always the same. He believed that everything is being changed constantly, and this is occurring through a state of flux. By having orderliness, it becomes possible for the human mind to comprehend the world, instead of it being entirely chaotic and based on the will of gods. Since the rate of change is constant, an appearance of permanence exists. Hence, one cannot step into the same river twice. (Jones 16) At first, it might appear as if you ... • 36. The Social And Environmental Levels The ecological approach is simply a theory stating that the different social and environmental levels with which one interacts, has in turn an overall affect on one s growth. Through analysis of the NICHS study, which was performed with the basis of 68 biological fathers and 68 step fathers to determine whether contextual factors associated with involvement and interaction patterns differed between the two, several differences were observed overtime. To preface, it was stated that mere contact between the father and the child is insufficient, and it is proven that quality of time is greater than the quantity of it. The level of involvement of a father is truly measured in terms of the division of work between the motherand the father himself, and his perception of his contribution to child related tasks within the family; although it was analyzed that stepfathers assumed to have similar levels of responsibility for childbearing actives as biological fathers did, it was also proven that stepfathers are less engaged and less emotionally close with their stepchildren than biological fathers. Overall, proving that although both do not differ in their initial levels of involvement, stepfathers do differ in their quality of interactions with their stepchildren. The best way to use the ecological approach to observe fatherhood would be by accounting for Bronfenbrenner s four facets including: person, process, context, and time to observe development. The last sentence within the passage states it was not dead but alive the use of short sentencing emphasised its point and indicates its importance. However this short verse changes the mood of the passage, the reader is confronted by the abrupt word dead this single word changes the tone of the sentence and explores that along with the capability to be alive there also is the capability to be dead. This foreshadows the next passage and the future of the ocean. Within the passage the metaphor of the ocean being a library is emphasised, it states that it is the biggest library in the universe this metaphor is used to try and example the extent of the sea and how many stories it possesses, connecting it to a familiar idea for the reader. • 40. Archetypes In Star Wars Star Wars. Harry Potter. The Marvel Cinematic Universe. These seemingly unrelated movie franchises seem to not have a lot in common other than the fact that they were all uber successful. In actuality, however, they have a lot more in common than that. These movie franchises at one point or another have served as the modern media mythological framework for a period of time. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has used a slightly altered Hero s Cycle, archetypes and the teaching of life lessons to create a modern mythology that fulfills Joseph Campbell s fourth function of myth and has also become a modern media mythological framework that has already begun to be copied. Joseph Campbell first introduced the idea of a Hero s Cycle in his book The Hero with a Thousand Faces. For the last 10 years or so of my life, I have dedicated myself to be a servant leader by creating opportunities for others. As a child, I grew up in a challenging environment but through my faith in God, many of my bad decisions were turned around to be learning lessons and breadcrumbs to greater opportunities. As I lacked a role model, I have made it my personal quest to be a role model to others so that they don t have to learn so many lessons the hard way, as I did. • 45. Lack of Female Characters in The Strange Case of Dr.... Even the most casual reader can note the fact that there are very few female characters present in Robert Louis Stevenson s 19th century novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Those that are found within the work hardly constitute as substantial ones none of the women have more than a few lines of dialogue and appear within the tale for longer than a chapter or two. A bevy of critics have pointed out the fact that such an egregious omission is hardly coincidental in fact, more than a few have cited the fact that this piece of literature functions as a protest regarding the degree of women s liberation that the New Womanpossessed near the turn of the 20th century in Victorian England (Reed 2). When considered through this feminist lens, it becomes easily discernible to the prudent reader that Stevenson portrayed no femalecharacters in a positive light and simply used them to reinforce negative aspects of femininity, which he believed were rapidly changing for the worse. Some critics have advanced the notion that one of the reasons there is such a paucity of women and of strong, beneficent women in particular within this story is due to what they represented in typical Victorian England society. Women were generally viewed as a social force or a source of authority which reinforces this fiction of coherent male identity (Doane and Hodges 63). This quotation suggests the fact that women were generally the keepers of morality and virtue within Victorian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s not exactly easy, but it is possible. By varying the intensity of your exercise session and taking a nice recovery period after, you ll see that you can build your muscles with less effort and become stronger. Many studies have been done on musclegrowth. Much of that research points to the theory that you need to rest your body after weight trainingin order to build muscles more effectively.
