Ketosis: The Key to Keto Diet
To understand the Keto Diet, it's essential to grasp the fundamental concept of
ketosis. Ketosis is a metabolic state where your body shifts from using
glucose (sugar) as its primary source of energy to utilising fat. This transition
occurs when you reduce your carbohydrate intake significantly, forcing your
body to burn stored fat for fuel. Ketosis is the secret ingredient behind the
Keto Diet's effectiveness.
At first glance, the Keto Diet and the ketogenic diet may seem quite similar
due to their reliance on ketosis. However, there are distinct differences that set
the Keto Diet apart as a unique and potentially more flexible approach to
achieving ketosis and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Here's a delicious and nutritious Keto Diet recipe for a Keto-friendly
avocado and bacon stuffed chicken breast:

Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Filling:
1 ripe avocado, pitted and diced
4 strips of cooked bacon, crumbled
1/4 cup diced red onion
1/4 cup diced tomato
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
Juice of 1/2 lime
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the Chicken: Using a sharp knife, create a pocket in each chicken
breast. To do this, hold the chicken breast flat on a cutting board and slice
horizontally through the thickest part of the breast, being careful not to cut all
the way through. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced avocado, crumbled
bacon, diced red onion, diced tomato, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped
cilantro, lime juice, and season with salt and pepper. Mix everything well to
create a flavorful filling.
Stuff the Chicken: Carefully stuff each chicken breast with the avocado and
bacon filling, ensuring not to overfill, as it might be challenging to seal the
chicken.
Secure the Chicken: Use toothpicks to secure the open ends of the chicken
breast, keeping the filling inside.
Sear the Chicken: In an ovenproof skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high
heat. Once hot, add the stuffed chicken breasts and sear them for about 2-3
minutes on each side, until they develop a golden brown crust.
Finish in the Oven: Transfer the skillet with the chicken to the preheated
oven and bake for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the chicken reaches
an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is cooked through.
Serve: Once done, remove the toothpicks from the chicken breasts. Plate the
chicken, and if desired, garnish with extra cilantro and a lime wedge for a
burst of freshness.
