Comparing Blood Wedding And Yerma
The greatest Spanish dramatist and poet, Frederico Lorca, wrote two books with very different plots,
yet the literary elements included were very similar The Blood Wedding and Yerma portray the
political and sociological views that are customary to Spain, such as male dominance, as well as
family honor. In addition, both The Blood Wedding and Yerma, contain the theme of human will
fighting against human destiny, encompassing a broad depiction of Spanish ideology. The Blood
Wedding and Yerma consistently exemplify the dominance of men in correspondence to the inferiority
of women. During this time in Spain, that mentality was the norm, and widely accepted. Lorca
portrays this mindset vividly in both of these novels, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know she s a good girl. Isn t she? Quiet. Hard working. She bakes her bread and sews her skirts...
(Lorca 5) The Bridegroom s mother represents Spain s society as a whole, in regard to the woman s
role to be Quiet, hard working, to bake and to sew. She doesn t inquire if she s pretty, or intelligent,
etc, she only wants to know what she s going to do for her son. Lorca gives the reader the opportunity
to sympathize with the Bride, and her lack of true identity, due to a distorted society. Yerma, though a
completely different story line, portrays an even greater sense of male dominance, and female
minority. Lorca ambiguously creates an ongoing dialogue between a married couple, Juan and Yerma,
allowing us to see the extent of male dominance in this culture. Juan, is a very prideful, controlling
husband is scolding his wife Yerma. JUAN. Don t you know the kind of man I am? The sheep in the
fold, and the women in their houses. You go out too much. Haven t you heard me say that from the
beginning? (Lorca, 92). Throughout the story, Juan is reprimanding his wife over different things,
primarily over her desire for a child, that isn t remotely mutual, but this time Lorca uses Juan to define
the control that men have over the women. He makes a very strong point regarding how demanding
Juan is, having a huge impact on this generation, because this level of control over women is
something we can barely relate to. Lorca then uses Yerma, to expound on the male

The Rationale For Undertaking The Research
The rationale for undertaking the research:
The topic of expansion has always resulted in competitiveness between various airports, but different
approaches are taken towards those airports requesting for more runway expansion. Heathrow Airport
is facing constant debates with nearby residents for a third runway appeal. The main concern with
Heathrow s third runway relates to the environmental and social concerns residents will face if the
expansion proposal is approved. Undertaking this particular research would provide a better
understanding about the local residents opinions, whose daily activities may change and residential
houses which may be affected; contributing to sustainability concerns. These opinions are important as
residents deserve to express their interpretations about the runway expansion. Subsequently, the
research will add significant value to the airport industry and add further theory to the current updates
they have on Heathrow s third runway expansion.
The context of your study:
In the vast and developing aviation industry, expansion has become a key priority for many UK airport
businesses. Airports in general are looking for chances to grow and provide excellent services, in order
to fulfil passenger needs. Secretary of State for Transport (2013) mentions how the Airport
Consultative Committees allow new opportunities such as airport infrastructure and growth strategies
to be discussed. Although the consideration of airport expansion may be

one in every ten women is being abused by their intimate partner.
A Study on Factors Linked to IPV
Understanding the reasons behind domestic violence can bring about predictors and help provide
solutions for future education and deterrence. Intimate partner violence is not a one dimensional
subject, most often, a victim is not being abused by a partner out of just emotional outbursts there are
many more factors that come into play when it comes to domestic violence. Abramsky et al.,
interviewed a total of 24,097 women from 10 different countries using standardized questionnaires the
countries of Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Japan, Namibia, Peru, Republic of Tanzania, Samoa, Serbia,
Montenegro and Thailand. The questions asked were in regards to IPV with the women s past and
present partners, whether they experienced specific violent acts, and if so whether this had happened
in the 12 months preceding the survey (Abramsky et al., 2011). The women s answers were compared
to one another for analysis and risk factors were deduced from associations within the answered
surveys.

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development ( Rio+20 ) brought Heads of State and
Government to Brazil in 2012, to appraise progress in the implementation of agreements struck since
the landmark 1992 United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development in Rio de

to establish a set of sustainable development goals and established a high level political forum on
sustainable development. Importantly, the outcome document, entitled The future we want ,also
reaffirms the commitments of States to women s equal rights, access and opportunities for
participation and leadership in the economy, society and political decision making and includes
explicit references to accelerating the implementation of commitments in the Convention on the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the Beijing Platform for Action and the

At the time, analysts said the company was expected to be valued at $75 billion to $100 billion. But
according to the filing, Facebook made only $3.7 billion in revenue last year, the bulk of that from
advertising. Until now, advertisers were largely limited to a variety of ad spaces that were positioned
on the right side of the Facebook home page, in addition to creating their own Facebook pages. The
company said a new set of premium ads will run at different points in the site, with a special emphasis
on ads running throughout a user s mobile feed. Facebook s Biggest Stumbling Block: Privacy
Practices Facebook s biggest stumbling block has been its privacy practices. As the world s largest
social network, Facebook has been under intense scrutiny from consumers, courts and regulators
worldwide over how it handles the data it collects from its 845 million users. But as a company
preparing to go public, it is under pressure to find new ways to turn that data into profit. The company
has repeatedly alienated users over privacy as in the case of the 2007 controversy over Beacon, a tool
that automatically posted on Facebook what its users did or bought on other sites. It has also faced
lawsuits over the use of its members like endorsements in ads and drawn scrutiny for a facial
recognition feature. The scrutiny is at its most intense in Europe, where Facebook s data collection
practices have tested the boundaries

The Role of Sight, Scent, and Sound by the White-tailed Deer
Use and relative role of sight, scent, and sound by white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) to locate
and select between different types of foods
Introduction
The foraging habits of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus; hereafter deer) have been
extensively researched. Studies have evaluated seasonal influence as well as other environmental
influences on forage selection by deer (Moen 1981, Rogers et al. 1981, McCullough 1985, and
others). However, no such research has ever tested to determine what senses deer use to locate and
select between different food types or the relative importance of each sense involved in that process.
We are missing much of the basic knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to the sensory
capabilities of deer (D Angelo et al. 2006). Information from this type of research is becoming
increasingly important to wildlife biologists, as they can use it to improve other forage selection
studies aimed at reducing crop depredation or other wildlife damage. So little is known about the role
of sight, smell, and sound in deer ability to locate and select between forage types, therefore
quantitative information in this area of research needs further attention (Sayre et al. 1992). By
understanding the importance of each sense in the location and selection of different food types by
deer, new studies can be set up that focus on the most important sense, while also considering what
effects the other senses have on their behavior. As

Pathological Causes Of Stroke Essay
A stroke also known as cardiovascular accident (CVA) is a serious killer and cause of disability. It
occurs when a blood vessel breaks causing an interruption of blood flow to the brain or a blood clot
blocks arteries leading to brain cells beginning to die and brain damage. This process can be caused by
thrombosis hemorrhage or embolism, resulting in either left side or right side hemiplegia. Strokes only
effect one side of the brain (Carter, Van Andel 2011). There are three pathological types of strokes
primary intraccerebral hemorrhage, ischaemic stroke, and subarachnoid hemorrhage (Warlo, Martin,
Wardlaw, Sandercock, 2003). While dealing with a stroke their can also be a transient ischaemic attack
(TIA) also know as a mini stroke. This occurs when the blood supply to the brain is blocked for a
short period of time. Transient ischaemic attack acts more like a warning sign there is temporary brain
malfunctions but with continued occurrence it could cause dementia (Staessen Wang, 2001). Strokes
may lead to problems with awareness, thinking, attention, learning and memory. Other problems that
may occur are difficultly controlling their emotions or show inappropriate emotions which lead to a
high rate of depression in stroke patients (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke,
2014). Evidence shows that after a stroke depression and anxiety are prevalent and often long term for
survivors, continuing up to five years after an incidence of stroke (Murray et

Deviance In The Governor Square Mall
Observing Deviance in the Governor Square Mall Brittaney French While observing deviance, one

what is acceptable in society s eyes. There are three types of norms, folkways, mores, and laws.

I noticed a lot people that were coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing without covering their mouths
or washing their hands, seemly to be the most popular in this surrounding. Many people didn t say
much to the perpetrator but from the looks, body language, and actions, I could tell people were
disgusted by the lack of manners others had. On many occurrences, when someone coughs, sneezes or
blows their nose, while others were eating or ordering their food, they would roll their eyes or look at
the person in disgust. I even witnessed a couple get up and leave the mall in a rage because someone
sneezed near them without covering their mouth. The incident I will never forget, was one lady
advised a young man, who coughed without covering his mouth, that he should cover he should do so,
which left me in shock. Of everyone that was in the food court, women were more so the ones who
were offended by people coughing, sneezing or blowing their noses without covering their mouth or
washing their hands. These types of careless acts puts others at risks of coming in contact with your
germs possible causing people to get sick. These particular behaviors are in violation of the folkways,
causing one to lack traditions, etiquette, and customs. In short, not using your manners, like covering

Theism in a Postmodern World
Theism in a Postmodern World by Billy Bush Religious Worldviews RELS 402 Professor W. C.
Calhoun June 22, 2009 Abstract In today s postmodern world, ideals of being consumed with self and
self appropriated ideas of truth leave God forgotten and to them, God is dead. This same thought
process see s no reason or logic to bring God into the picture let alone into their lives. The pervasive
postmodern worldview today includes precepts such that self decides who we become, as well as, is
not necessary to have a God who should be in control of our lives. It is difficult for a Christian to live

(John 3:16, NIV). Many people ask If God is just, why is there evil? (Forte, 2003). The answer to this
is simple, evil exists because humans choose to disobey and fall into sin. The disobedience of man is
the original cause and current cause of evil in this world, not God. Christian theism includes what
happens to a person when they die. For each person death is either the gate to life with God and His
people or the gate to eternal separation from the only thing that will ultimately fulfill human
aspirations (Sire, 2004). Inevitably, there are only two destination choices; either we will go to heaven
or hell. Hell was not only created by God for Satan and those angels who chose to defy God s will but
also for those who have chosen to reject Christ s love and to follow Him. Christian theism defines how
ethics relates to the role of humans. Ethics is transcendent and is based on the character of God as
good [holy and loving] (Sire, 2004). Theism teaches the universe is moral and there is an absolute
standard by which we should all judge things. God is the standard and all issues should be judged next
to His standard. Christian Theism teaches us, History is linear, a meaningful sequence of events
leading to the fulfillment of God s purposes for humanity (Sire, 2004). History, as we know, began
when God created this world. History is not simply a story seen as possibly or potentially true,
depending upon from who

information may form an invasion in the daily routine of the workers. Yet we think some time can be
saved by trading in the informational interviews for surveys. This can also provide the necessary
information yet in a shorter period of time. Also the documentation review should be limited to
relevant information of only the affected departments. The interviews with employees at multiple
levels of the affected departments are of great importance and for this reason not wise to rush or

related to the positions in question as the extended period of observation of the workers are of great
importance. Both these processes might lead to the cause of the struggles of Dixie weaving. This

Why Do People Commit Crimes In The 16th Century
Crimes and Punishments in the 16th Century
The punishments in the 16th century were extremely firm and horrifying for criminals. People who
committed crimes in the 16th century had to face serious punishments, such as the rack, weight placed
on breast, and were placed on a sharp stone. Not to mention in this time period, people were living in
poverty and some people could not find money to buy food for their families. The population of
England was growing faster than food resources. One result of this was occasional and localized food
shortages so severe as to occasion hunger, starvation, and death (Morgan 288). In addition, many
people did not have money even to buy basic things they needed to survive and many of them became
criminals in the eye of the 16th century law. Punishments in the 16th century were unjust able for
crimes such as begging, theft, and treason. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Panorama: Behind the scenes by Julian Charriere demonstrates how humans have manipulated the
state of nature considerably, to the extent where we are compelled to create our own vision of nature.
At first, the video administers the impression of a still image which consists of a conventional
mountain covered in snow. As the video continues, the audience detects a white man pouring a white
substance on the mountain. At this point, we recognize that this mountain is an illusion created with
soil while the snow is comprised of flour and fire distinguisher foam. The purpose of this art piece is
to lure the audience into the exposure of the truth about climate change. Julian Charriere shot this
piece with the intention to mislead the audience in viewing the mountain by using their expectations

harsher, hence the frequent occurrence of unusual nature activity and natural disasters. Some examples
are: droughts are becoming more evident in certain areas of the world, while glaciers are melting at
such an alarming rate. Ironically, we have reached a point where our natural resources are

The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Essay
The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the green knight s wife plays a pivotal role in the story. Yet, she is
never given a name and it is unclear what motivates her actions. She could simply be following her
husband s orders to seduce this visiting knight. She could be under the tutelage of Morgan le Fay. Or
she may be acting under her own guidance and using her sexuality to carry out her own desires or gain
power. In light of this uncertainty, the unnamed wife s role in the bedroom scene is also hard to

She also refers to Gawain as, my captive knight . This suggests that Gawain is in the submissive
position, which is not typically how a powerful, male knight is perceived. Oddly enough, this is the
case in medieval society. The lord is the master and the knight pledges loyalty to the lord and his lady.
In this sense the knight is actually in a lower social position than the lady, and this problemitizes the
typical gender roles. For instance, Gawain must tell the wife, I am yours to command, to kiss when
you please in order to live up to the expectations of a courteous knight. His social role as a knight
causes him to submit to this cunning woman. The lady is able to exert control over Gawain while still
appearing submissive, because of Gawain s conflicting social and gender roles.
However, the gender roles and power relations between the wife and Gawain are further complicated
when considering the wife s loyalty to her husband. If she is merely following his orders and offering
her body to whom ever he commands, then she is undoubtedly submissive. Clearly the wife s actions
are in line with her husband s plans. In the end he tells Gawain, And the wooing of my wife it was all

U.s. National Security Efforts And Defending The Nation Essay
Counterterrorism is the use of personnel and tools to acquire, disturb, or dismantle terrorist networks
and their affiliates. Counterterrorism is essentially an offensive approach to a terrorist threat involving
intelligence operations, diplomacy, military operations, and counterterrorism training. Despite party
affiliation and different approaches, both the Bush and Obama administrations have been devoted to
U.S. national security efforts and defending the nation. During the Republican Bush administration,
9/11 was both a significant terrorist attack and also a significant event during Bush s time as president.
The group behind 9/11 was a terrorist organization named al Qaeda, lead by Osama bin Laden.
Founded on August 18th 1988, al Qaeda is a group of Islamic extremists who call for the the creation

Islamic Law And Islamic Banking
Forty years ago, the Islamic banking industry was created, on a modest scale, to fill a gap in a banking

seems very crucial to evaluate critically based on Maliki law school the previous experience of Islamic

b. Hiring Processes: Seasonal employment, such as year end holidays for retailers, often requires
faster processing to get employees hired, trained and on the sales floor to accommodate business
demand. For example, instead of making hiring decisions during third round interviews, give second
round interviewers the authority to make hiring decisions and streamline the interviews to one
preliminary interview and one final interview.
c. Industry Competition: Industry competitors that offer better pay, generous benefits or guaranteed
opportunities for professional development can affect the way you select potential employees. A
collegial work environment, job satisfaction and security, and flexible scheduling often are appealing
to job seekers looking for a quality of life instead of the biggest pay check. Changing the way you hire
candidates in the face of industry competition might also include streamlining your selection process

The Problem Of Medical Errors
Medical error is a major problem that take place in the healthcare system in today s society. Medical
errors in hospitals are the third main cause of death in United States killing 44,000 people per year due
to medical errors. Studies show that poor communication in medical fields has cost up to 1.7 billion
dollars. Miscommunication is the core for this error, failure to clear communication can guide to
serious complication, such as serious problems for patients and deaths. This Mistakes usually happen
when there is a miscommunication between the nurses and the doctors or between patients and
experts. The three common errors, which take place in the medical system are, miscommunication
about patient condition between the doctors and nurses, Shift change between workers or transferring
of patients to a different hospital and the third one is lack of enough practice and somehow negligence.
It is important to understand the condition of a patient and specifically point out the problems of the
patient. Usually this kind of problem occur due to workload pressure and stress. It also emerges due to
failure of understanding patients problems. According to Nirpuma Shankur on his blog which can be

Dna And Therapy Of Abnormal Psychology
EORY AND THERAPY OF ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY
The biological model is most important in function of the human system. In psychotherapy, if we have
deficits with our biology, then we fix the deficient, inhibit the unwanted response or excite the wanted
response. As William DeMeyer, MD relates, all human behavior consists of secreting substances or
changing the length of muscle fibers.
Whatever the behavior, it originates from nerve impulses traveling through neural circuits.
Therefore, all behaviors and all thoughts depend on neuroanotomic circuits.
Through functional examination and testing, we have a very high probability to pinpoint where the
deficit is. Functional examinations consist of many types of testing to specify where a

Emeritus of Pediatric Neurology at
Indiana University School of Medicine or a biological researcher or theorists, they both understand the
real underlying probable causes of most mental disease.
The question is whether or not deeply studied neuroanatomy and neurophysiology need be adept in a
clinician s ability to perform a correct differential diagnosis. The answer is no, at least not for the
majority of mental health clinicians. Most likely the highest percentage of patients will be either
suffering with depression or anxiety and these are well cared for by their general practitioner (M.D.)
or a psychologist. However, when the more difficult cases need be addressed, who shall take care of
these? In the instance of schizophrenia, Huntington s disease and other deeply rooted mental illness, a
skilled psychiatrist who possesses a thorough understanding of neurophysiology would be needed, as

guanxi neglect neglecting opportunities to show respect towards guanxi relationships
Abstract
This paper introduces the concept of guanxi neglect through a case study that describes the takeover of
a formerly Chinese managed hotel by a western based, international hotel management company.
Specifically, it covers the cultural conflict that occurred for employees trying to adapt from the former

Some recalled if your relatives or your friends knew that you were working in Roaring Dragon, you
would be admired , it was a good work unit danwei , and you were lucky if you worked there 3.
The original Hotel was a four storey, rectangular, grey structure built in 1960 in a dull
Russian style. By 1993, the provincial government had funded a new extension and the Hotel now
consisted of two parts: the old four storey section joined by a modern sixteen storey extension perched
on a hill behind the old Russian. There was a contrast in the standard of accommodation. Room rates
were cheaper in the old section and so it attracted Chinese visitors searching for quality economy
accommodation. Visiting government officials and higher end customers on the other hand felt more
comfortable in the newer and naturally more expensive section. There were two guarded entrances to
the Hotel, one on each level. A series of stairways, elevators and a warren of banquet rooms, hallways,
storage areas, offices, cafeterias, and a laundry untidily connected the two buildings.
Reflection on a 1993 Experience
The Roaring Dragon was a Chinese managed SOE until the opening of the new extension in 1993
when the provincial government decided to contract an international company to manage the Hotel
with the objective of improving the quality of customer service. KYZ Corporation was identified as a

Initially Merkel was against giving bailouts. Thus with the Greco European crisis being the forefront,
Merkel pushed for greater private sector investors to absorb some of the rescue burden. She saw to it
that European Union bureaucrats went to Athens where they quietly insisted on simple but important
things like shortened vacations for the civil servants, higher taxes on swimming pools and lower
expenditures on public housing (Applebaum, 2013). In consideration of these reforms, Angela Merkel
stated at political rally in Germany It s not just about getting any further into debt in countries such as
Greece, Spain and Portugal, people should not be allowed to receive pension before their German

Conflict and Mediation Process
Conflict and mediation process
Whenever conflicts surface in Africa, the first thing that the concerned parties go for is the fastest way
of solving the conflict before it grows to uncontrollable proportions. This is when conflict resolution
mechanisms are required. In the African context, most conflicts are fueled by rush for scarce resources
between individuals and mostly between communities within one nation. The conflicts in Africa are
rarely experienced between one nation and the other. The conflicts also arise out of rush for power and
positions in government. This is predominantly due to the fact that such leadership positions come
with strapping of authority and access to resources that are within the country.
Negotiation culture
The very initial actions and steps in pursuing peace in a mediation process within Africa are the
mediator identifying the cause of the conflict and who the parties in the conflict are. This gives him
the clue of the points of tension and the character of the people involved hence able to craft out a way
of getting engaged in the mediation process. The mediator and his team then prepare the parties to
know what the other group considers norms so as to understand and never clash with them. There is a
threefold manner by which this understanding can be brought about, and it is by understanding the
Facts, Attitudes and Behavior of the other party. The facts are indelible or unchangeable truths like

Interpretation Of Genesis
The Bible is the world s most widely read book. It contains multiple holy books that reveal who God
is and account for His many works for humankind. These books describe the story of God from
creation, to the fall, to redemption, and lastly to the new creation known as revelation. The big picture
of the Bible is to tell the story of God s works from creation of the world, which was Genesis, to the
end, which is revelation. It is important to familiarize oneself with these passages and texts because
they serve the purpose to teach important lessons to help humankind live in God s image. As stated in
the ESV Study Guide, The Bible contains 66 books, written in three languages over 1,500 years by
dozens of authors writing in numerous genres for diverse audiences. For this reason, the meaning of
the texts of the Bible are left to each reader s interpretations and requires technical skill and spiritual
receptivity. This assignment will demonstrate my knowledge and interpretation of the Bible and its big
picture. Graeme Goldsworthy s work on biblical theology, outlines the story of the bible as God s
people in God s place under God s rule, meaning God is the creator of everything (Shaw). The bible
begins with the book of Genesis. Genesis comes from the Greek word of origin . It is the book of the
origin of the world and the beginning of Creation, as God is the creator of all things, include people.
The importance of Genesis is that it includes laws for the Jewish people

A Discussion Of Faith Rose Surrounding The World Trade Center
After the Brussels massacre that took place on March 22nd, a question of faith rose surrounding the
sanctity of the Islamic faith. In an article meant to expose answers to this very question John Kasich
brings up a point that when people claim France is at war with Islam, they actually should be referring
to radical Islam. This point pulled further controversy as those who were not Islamic began to wonder
if the faith condoned suicide bombings in the name of expelling infidels and bringing the coming of

Muslim conquests lasted from 622 AD to 750 AD, and would continue to move forward until the 18th
century. These expansions of religion and politics were led by dynasties of Caliphs , beginning with
the prophet Muhammad and then the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs. Islam spread from Mecca to
Medina and furthered into central Asia, North Africa, Spain, and parts of the old Byzantine and
Persian empires. Despite this, there is a large misunderstanding about the spread of Islam during this
period of time and why the expansion of the Catholic Church after the Dark Ages instead takes
precedence in Western Europe. The halt of the expansion of Islamic rule in Europe can be linked back
to the Battle of Tours back in 733 AD. This battle was meant to be the Islamic Empires first expansion
into Europe nearing the end of the period called the Dark Ages in European history. This resulted in
the expansion of the early modern Catholic Church in Europe during the Renaissance and the
misunderstanding of Islamic politics. The Prophet Muhammad s large influences over the foundations
of Islam helped shape its empire into a powerful militant group that would result in the unification of
Arabia in 622 AD . From there, Muhammad would be looked to by many as both a religious prophet
and a competent military leader. Conquests made my Muhammad lasted from 622 CE to

Anna s Hummingbird Research Paper
The Anna s hummingbird (Calypte Anna) is a green and grey ball of feathers with the agility of a
fighter pilot. They can hover, fly backwards, and even upside down for a short time. They are a
medium sized species with the males sporting an iridescent ruby red throat patch and the females sport
a lovely iridescent green and grey. They are stocky for a hummingbird, and are better suited for
Northern climates. They range from western North America to Baja California, from the southern tip

if all of a sudden its field of wildflowers became a new housing development. Migration is energy
intensive and exhausting, the bird might not be able to find food before it simply runs out of fuel and
perishes in its sleep. With pesticides and round ups being sprayed in ever higher concentrations on
wildflowers and weeds, more of it is entering the systems of these hummingbirds. Not only are the
flowers being effected, but the small insects the hummer preys on as well. They carry the
pesticide/pollen from the round up ready crops, and it is ingested with the insect. Cats and other

Economic extortion is basically the demanding of money. A conflict of interest occurs when an

The Scene I Of Act IIi
Throughout the evolution of a theme and seven variations as well as a two part fugue, Berg explores
the possibilities of various numeric significances and an ever evolving harmonic and melodic
vocabulary. By presenting the audience with a familiar formal structure Berg is then free to more
openly manipulate and change other variables such as using non functional harmonies and unresolved
melodic passages. He combines both dramatic and musical foreshadowing to create a visual and aural
experience for the listener that is while always being conscious with what would be too overwhelming
to the audience. Berg creates an opera ripe with symbolism and significance. The introspective Scene I
of Act III is no exception. The scene opens with Marie in her continued struggle through life,
attempting to find solace in her bible. The audience is presented with her frantic behavior in this scene
and further observes how the plot will finally unfold, a sad and unfortunate end. Musically, Berg
paints this surrealism wonderfully, and through his recurring methods and musical vocabulary, ties the
scene together. Following two bars of silence, the scene opens with a descending fourth figure that
gradually evolves into an ascending third figure in m.6. The four opening notes of the scene, G D F
Eb, form a 0146, which is an all interval tetrachord. On top of this linear tetrachord a solo cello
oscillates between the notes G and D. These pitches are the tonic and dominant of the initial key area

Effects Of Global Warming On The World Essay
Diseases, war, etc... Those are major concerns of this world, and climate change is always a hot issue
given to debate. It s not just a matter of a single country, but it s a problem of the whole human race.
Humanity is facing the risk of extinction. The impact of environmental pollution leads to climate
change and natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. Those disasters are caused
by the impact of humans to nature, such as deforestation, ecological imbalance, and use of chemicals.
Gas emissions from industries in urban areas are also a big factor that causes global warming. Earth s
temperature has been increasing each year. Glaciers melting are one of the early signs of global
warming. If more glaciers melt, the sea level will increase which may cause flooding in certain areas.
Global dimming is even more harmful to humans than global warming. Global dimming is also caused
by humans because of the air pollution caused by burning coal, oil, and wood, which releases carbon
dioxide to the earth s atmosphere. Air pollution can cause all kinds of illnesses, such as lung cancer,
heart diseases, and asthma. Climate change is impactful worldwide. Even though some people say that
climate change happens naturally, I believe it is caused by the impact of human activity. It is clear to
see how the impact of humans affects the climate. As the human population increases rapidly, the need
for housing, food, factories, and buildings also increases. Although, forests

Larkin Agnosticism
Agnosticism as a Product of Fear
Nothing is so much to be feared as fear. Atheism may comparatively be popular with God himself.
Henry David Thoreau.
The poetry of Philip Larkin has led numerous scholars to debate about the poet s true attitude towards
religion. Many of Larkin s poems seem to be unambiguous, emanating a strong feeling of pessimism
and denouncement to religion and faith. The doubts and uncertainties Larkin felt towards religion
reverberate throughout his work, resulting in most scholars to consider him an atheist. However, in
perhaps his most famous and widely anthologized poem, Church Going, there seems to be not so
much an expression of outright skepticism towards Christianity, as a desperate struggle to ... Show

Their faith is presented as being heavily deceptive, and their emotions described as deep hoarse tears,
as if a kind of dumb / And idiot child within them survives (14 15). The portrayal of these religious
people presents in the mind of the reader an image of a completely ignorant dunce, or even a jackass,
whereas describing their tears as hoarse, was a homophone likely chosen with malicious intent. Larkin
s fear of death contributes not only to his depiction of religion, but also his struggle to accept it, seeing
as he viewed religion unable to save people from suffering and death. The poem Aubade describes at
length the speaker s struggle and fear of death and how he feels religion in the past or rational thinking
in the modern world of science can by no means drive away... their imminent death (Bao 189). The
speaker is paralyzed by the thought of unresting death that is a whole day nearer every day he comes
home from work (5). In the extremely morbid last stanza of the poem the speaker proclaims his belief
that no trick dispels death, and that religion used to try (22), further showing that the only real obstacle
between Larkin and faith is his inability to accept death as part of the divine plan (Schray 56).
Considering Larkin to be an atheist however is not the most accurate representation of the poet, and
his frequent use of religion, as dire as it may be, indicates a more complicated notion.
The poem Church Going is about a man visiting

The Death Of Tennessee V Garner
Sidney Hildebrandt
Tennessee V Garner
On the night of October 3rd, 1974 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Edward Garner was shot by Officer
Hymon in an attempt to stop him from escaping a crime scene. Garner died on the operating table due
to the gunshot wound on the back of his head. His crime was burglary and he was found with a mere
ten dollars and a purse. The case was argued on October 30th, 1984 and a decision was made on
March 27th, 1985. The father of Edward Garner believed his son s constitutional rights were violated
by the defendants Officer Hymon, the Police Department, and the Mayor of the city of Memphis. With
a 6 3 decision, the Justices decided that Officer Hymon was acting justly under the fourth amendment
that states that deadly force is constitutional as long as it is reasonable . I believe Officer Hymon was
acting in good faith and simply fulfilling his duty to protect the public and stop criminals from
escaping punishment.
Edward Eugene Garner life ended in his eighth grade year at the young age of 15.He stood at five feet
four inches tall and weighed around one hundred pounds.1 The father of Edward, Cleamtee Garner,
brought the case into action by claiming that his son s fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and fourteenth
amendments were violated.2 Officer Elton Hymon, along with Leslie Wright received a prowler inside
call . Once on the scene, the two officers were informed that someone was breaking into the house
next door.Officer Hymon went to investigate

Schizophrenic Patients
My aunt was diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was 15 years old and had gone untreated for
most of her adult life. She has always lived with my grandma and growing up, I remember seeing how
easily she became agitated with my grandma in seemingly normal problems and situations., I recall
hearing her talk to herself, and I remember how hard it was to explain concepts to her. Because of her
escalating symptoms, my grandma and my aunt decided to take the steps to seek treatment so that she
can become more independent. Through this, I have seen that there are tools to manage psychotic
symptoms and that schizophrenia does not have to define who a person is. Although there is no cure,
people with this condition can still have a fulfilling life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While no cure for schizophrenia exists yet, people dealing with this mental disorder have tools
available to help them deal with their individual symptoms. As I have witnessed through my aunt s
attempts at recovery, low doses of medication, therapy and support are key to being able to live an
independent and rich life. Unfortunately, about 3.2 million Americans today are living with
Schizophrenia, and roughly 40 percent of them are untreated. This is due to the fact that a lot of
schizophrenic people do not have consistent support systems. They need this because often times they
do not know when they are decompensating. Our society has come a long way in overcoming the
stigma of mental illness and understanding how schizophrenia affects individuals. It is my hope that
those who know a person dealing with schizophrenia educate themselves on this condition so that they
can assist the person with treatment. This should lower the number of those who go untreated, are
homeless, incarcerated and in crisis. Symptoms of schizophrenia can be managed and with the right
treatments, people can live fulfilling and productive

  • 2. Comparing Blood Wedding And Yerma The greatest Spanish dramatist and poet, Frederico Lorca, wrote two books with very different plots, yet the literary elements included were very similar The Blood Wedding and Yerma portray the political and sociological views that are customary to Spain, such as male dominance, as well as family honor. In addition, both The Blood Wedding and Yerma, contain the theme of human will fighting against human destiny, encompassing a broad depiction of Spanish ideology. The Blood Wedding and Yerma consistently exemplify the dominance of men in correspondence to the inferiority of women. During this time in Spain, that mentality was the norm, and widely accepted. She doesn t inquire if she s pretty, or intelligent, etc, she only wants to know what she s going to do for her son. Lorca gives the reader the opportunity to sympathize with the Bride, and her lack of true identity, due to a distorted society. Yerma, though a completely different story line, portrays an even greater sense of male dominance, and female minority. Lorca ambiguously creates an ongoing dialogue between a married couple, Juan and Yerma, allowing us to see the extent of male dominance in this culture. Throughout the story, Juan is reprimanding his wife over different things, primarily over her desire for a child, that isn t remotely mutual, but this time Lorca uses Juan to define the control that men have over the women. He makes a very strong point regarding how demanding Juan is, having a huge impact on this generation, because this level of control over women is something we can barely relate to. The Role of Sight, Scent, and Sound by the White-tailed Deer Use and relative role of sight, scent, and sound by white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) to locate and select between different types of foods Introduction The foraging habits of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus; hereafter deer) have been extensively researched. Studies have evaluated seasonal influence as well as other environmental influences on forage selection by deer (Moen 1981, Rogers et al. 1981, McCullough 1985, and others). However, no such research has ever tested to determine what senses deer use to locate and select between different food types or the relative importance of each sense involved in that process. We are missing much of the basic knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to the sensory capabilities of deer (D Angelo et al. 2006). Information from this type of research is becoming increasingly important to wildlife biologists, as they can use it to improve other forage selection studies aimed at reducing crop depredation or other wildlife damage. So little is known about the role of sight, smell, and sound in deer ability to locate and select between forage types, therefore quantitative information in this area of research needs further attention (Sayre et al. 1992). By understanding the importance of each sense in the location and selection of different food types by deer, new studies can be set up that focus on the most important sense, while also considering what effects the other senses have on their behavior. It occurs when a blood vessel breaks causing an interruption of blood flow to the brain or a blood clot blocks arteries leading to brain cells beginning to die and brain damage. This process can be caused by thrombosis hemorrhage or embolism, resulting in either left side or right side hemiplegia. Strokes only effect one side of the brain (Carter, Van Andel 2011). There are three pathological types of strokes primary intraccerebral hemorrhage, ischaemic stroke, and subarachnoid hemorrhage (Warlo, Martin, Wardlaw, Sandercock, 2003). While dealing with a stroke their can also be a transient ischaemic attack (TIA) also know as a mini stroke. This occurs when the blood supply to the brain is blocked for a short period of time. Transient ischaemic attack acts more like a warning sign there is temporary brain malfunctions but with continued occurrence it could cause dementia (Staessen Wang, 2001). Strokes may lead to problems with awareness, thinking, attention, learning and memory. Other problems that may occur are difficultly controlling their emotions or show inappropriate emotions which lead to a high rate of depression in stroke patients (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 2014). This same thought process see s no reason or logic to bring God into the picture let alone into their lives. The pervasive postmodern worldview today includes precepts such that self decides who we become, as well as, is not necessary to have a God who should be in control of our lives. (John 3:16, NIV). Many people ask If God is just, why is there evil? (Forte, 2003). The answer to this is simple, evil exists because humans choose to disobey and fall into sin. The disobedience of man is the original cause and current cause of evil in this world, not God. Christian theism includes what happens to a person when they die. For each person death is either the gate to life with God and His people or the gate to eternal separation from the only thing that will ultimately fulfill human aspirations (Sire, 2004). Inevitably, there are only two destination choices; either we will go to heaven or hell. Hell was not only created by God for Satan and those angels who chose to defy God s will but also for those who have chosen to reject Christ s love and to follow Him. Christian theism defines how ethics relates to the role of humans. Ethics is transcendent and is based on the character of God as good [holy and loving] (Sire, 2004). Theism teaches the universe is moral and there is an absolute standard by which we should all judge things. God is the standard and all issues should be judged next to His standard. Christian Theism teaches us, History is linear, a meaningful sequence of events leading to the fulfillment of God s purposes for humanity (Sire, 2004). In psychotherapy, if we have deficits with our biology, then we fix the deficient, inhibit the unwanted response or excite the wanted response. As William DeMeyer, MD relates, all human behavior consists of secreting substances or changing the length of muscle fibers. Whatever the behavior, it originates from nerve impulses traveling through neural circuits. Therefore, all behaviors and all thoughts depend on neuroanotomic circuits. Through functional examination and testing, we have a very high probability to pinpoint where the deficit is. The answer is no, at least not for the majority of mental health clinicians. Most likely the highest percentage of patients will be either suffering with depression or anxiety and these are well cared for by their general practitioner (M.D.) or a psychologist. By 1993, the provincial government had funded a new extension and the Hotel now consisted of two parts: the old four storey section joined by a modern sixteen storey extension perched on a hill behind the old Russian. There was a contrast in the standard of accommodation. Room rates were cheaper in the old section and so it attracted Chinese visitors searching for quality economy accommodation. Conflict and Mediation Process Conflict and mediation process Whenever conflicts surface in Africa, the first thing that the concerned parties go for is the fastest way of solving the conflict before it grows to uncontrollable proportions. This is when conflict resolution mechanisms are required. In the African context, most conflicts are fueled by rush for scarce resources between individuals and mostly between communities within one nation. The conflicts in Africa are rarely experienced between one nation and the other. The conflicts also arise out of rush for power and positions in government. This is predominantly due to the fact that such leadership positions come with strapping of authority and access to resources that are within the country. Negotiation culture The very initial actions and steps in pursuing peace in a mediation process within Africa are the mediator identifying the cause of the conflict and who the parties in the conflict are. This gives him the clue of the points of tension and the character of the people involved hence able to craft out a way of getting engaged in the mediation process. The mediator and his team then prepare the parties to know what the other group considers norms so as to understand and never clash with them. There is a threefold manner by which this understanding can be brought about, and it is by understanding the Facts, Attitudes and Behavior of the other party. The Scene I Of Act IIi Throughout the evolution of a theme and seven variations as well as a two part fugue, Berg explores the possibilities of various numeric significances and an ever evolving harmonic and melodic vocabulary. By presenting the audience with a familiar formal structure Berg is then free to more openly manipulate and change other variables such as using non functional harmonies and unresolved melodic passages. He combines both dramatic and musical foreshadowing to create a visual and aural experience for the listener that is while always being conscious with what would be too overwhelming to the audience. Berg creates an opera ripe with symbolism and significance. The introspective Scene I of Act III is no exception. The scene opens with Marie in her continued struggle through life, attempting to find solace in her bible. The audience is presented with her frantic behavior in this scene and further observes how the plot will finally unfold, a sad and unfortunate end. Musically, Berg paints this surrealism wonderfully, and through his recurring methods and musical vocabulary, ties the scene together. It s not just a matter of a single country, but it s a problem of the whole human race. Humanity is facing the risk of extinction. The impact of environmental pollution leads to climate change and natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. Those disasters are caused by the impact of humans to nature, such as deforestation, ecological imbalance, and use of chemicals. Gas emissions from industries in urban areas are also a big factor that causes global warming. Earth s temperature has been increasing each year. Glaciers melting are one of the early signs of global warming. If more glaciers melt, the sea level will increase which may cause flooding in certain areas. Global dimming is even more harmful to humans than global warming. Global dimming is also caused by humans because of the air pollution caused by burning coal, oil, and wood, which releases carbon dioxide to the earth s atmosphere. Air pollution can cause all kinds of illnesses, such as lung cancer, heart diseases, and asthma. Climate change is impactful worldwide. The portrayal of these religious people presents in the mind of the reader an image of a completely ignorant dunce, or even a jackass, whereas describing their tears as hoarse, was a homophone likely chosen with malicious intent. Larkin s fear of death contributes not only to his depiction of religion, but also his struggle to accept it, seeing as he viewed religion unable to save people from suffering and death. The poem Aubade describes at length the speaker s struggle and fear of death and how he feels religion in the past or rational thinking in the modern world of science can by no means drive away... their imminent death (Bao 189). The speaker is paralyzed by the thought of unresting death that is a whole day nearer every day he comes home from work (5). In the extremely morbid last stanza of the poem the speaker proclaims his belief that no trick dispels death, and that religion used to try (22), further showing that the only real obstacle between Larkin and faith is his inability to accept death as part of the divine plan (Schray 56).
