statement of a world famous innovator, we might think how much of odds can be against us. Are
we ready to face the odds of leaving planet Earth and settling on Mars? I figure that has been the
blazing fixation of the man behind the fame of Tesla Motors, Space X and Solar city. Elon Musk
talks about innovation, disruption and future of human race all at once. With such things forming
the core of his ideologies, how can he follow the conventional model of branding for his hybrid

The answers being that its CEO Elon Musk is himself a celebrity who himself acts as the face of
the brand. He is known for appearing in a number of interviews to make himself and the brand
visible. He uses well known stages like TED Talks to make sure his message reaches the masses
and he is able to connote what as an organization they are trying to accomplish. Yet, it is not that
just he is the main impetus of the organization. In the backend, it is his team that is highly
dedicated and hard working that makes it possible for Tesla to achieve breakthroughs in short
spurts of months. It is well known that Elon is not satisfied with the good or better, but he
always wants to work with the best. Hence, while recruiting, he does not see whether a person is

Wild Yeast Research Paper
I thought this story idea might pique your interest.
Due to revelations about the nature of wild yeast, curious brewers have a new ingredient to
explore. In the near future, yeast obtained from wasp guts might make the leap from the lab bench
to the beer hall.
Nut
The next time you reach for a newspaper to squash a reviled bug, think about this: wasps and other
insects do a lot more for humans than ruin our picnics. Insects also provide essential environmental
services, such as, pollinating crops, and in the coming years, stinging insects might serve as the
catalyst for new styles of beer. For beer nerds, it would be an opportunity to try something new,
while presenting brewers with the chance to add a new dimension of their ancient ... Show more

Typically, they re loath to introduce wild strains of yeastto their product, because they tend to
impart funky off putting flavors. So when Sebastian Ibarra, an entomologist and instructor at Simon
Fraser University, approached the chief brewer Condrad Gsomer at BrassNeck Brewery with news
that his lab partners had isolated a beneficial strain of wild yeast found in wasp intestines, Gsomer
became intrigued.
After all, Humans have experimented with fermentation for thousands of years, and it may be our
greatest feat since the taming of fire. The discovery of yeast in wasp guts also speaks volumes
about the appeal of alcohol to a broad cross section of the animal kingdom, ranging from fig wasps
to humans clinking beer steins.
The question is, can wild yeast extracted from wasp guts work also wonders for beer and where
does that lead? At least two research labs based in North America are investigating this phenomena
and both teams are willing to discuss their forays into flavor with wild yeast at the helm.
As for me, I m an established freelance writer based in San Diego covering environmental issues in
Southern California and beyond. Over the years, I ve covered many aspects of the food web and I

How Did The Ku Klux Klan Affect Our Society
Since 1865, the Ku Klux Klan has been responsible for America s many atrocities in history.
Driven by hatred and resentment, the Klan terrorized minorities of all kinds in this country for
more than a century. Extending into almost every southern state by 1870, it became a vehicle for
white southern resistance to the Republican Party s Reconstruction era policies. This single violent
group was responsible for thousands of deaths, and would help to weaken the political power of
Southern blacks and Republicans. On December 24, 1865, during the reconstruction of the South
after the Civil War, six Confederate veterans from Pulaski, Tennessee
created the infamous Ku Klux
Klan. Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest became Grand Wizard of... Show more content

Simmons, in 1915, on Stone Mountain, Georgia. This new version of the Klan focused mainly on
new areas such as anti Catholicism and anti immigration and they supported prohibition. It stressed
fundamentalism in religion. A pamphlet published in Atlanta by Simmons in 1917, brought into the
light the Klan s goals as to shield the sanctity of the home and the chastity of womanhood; to
maintain white supremacy; to teach and faithfully inculcate a high spiritual philosophy through an
exalted ritualism; and by a practical devotedness to conserve, protect and maintain the distinctive
institutions, rights, privileges, principles and ideals of a pure Americanism. (McWhirter, Cameron
65) The new founder of the Klan recruited many new followers by joining fraternal organizations.
The new members paid initiation fees and received Ku Klux Klan costumes in return. The Klan
presented itself as a fraternal, activist and ardently patriotic organization. In 1922, 1924, and1926
the Klan elected many state officials and a number of Congressmen even though they professed
themselves nonpolitical. The organization took its symbol, a burning cross, and held rallies,
parades, and marches around the country (History 2). The burning cross was simply a symbol of
intimidation. Its lighting during meetings was often accompanied by prayer and singing of hymns.
At its peak in the 1920 s, Klan membership exceeded four million people nationwide. Members
were drawn from all sectors of society, and many civic leaders, politicians, and law enforcement
officials either belonged or deferred to the Klan. The growing violence from the Klan caused wide
resentment, and by 1922 a number of anti Klan organizations had formed all over the place. A
prominent Protestant minister, Reinhold Niebuhr spoke out against the Klan and that gained
national attention. After that, many opposing groups started speaking out against the Klan and
their violent ways. One

Essay On The Hunger Games
Culture Essay The Hunger Games take place in a country of Panem. Panem is made up of the
Capitol and Thirteen Districts. The Dark Days brought the uprising of the Districts against the
Capitol. Twelve Districts were defeated and the thirteenth was obliterated. This rebellion created
the Treaty of Treason which was a new set of laws that guarantees peace and a yearly reminder that
the Dark Days must never be repeated, it gave us the HungerGames. (Collins Page 18) The Dark
Days are the reason there are major differences in their culture compared to my own. The Hunger

called tributes, to participate. (Collins Page 18) The reaping system is how they pick both
tributes from each district. The reaping system is basically two glass balls with everybody s

ball, but you can put a max of four each year and get extra food for your family. The last tribute
standing wins. The last tribute alive receives a life of ease back at home, and their district will
be showered in prizes, largely consisting of food. (Collins Page 19) In our society if we win a

death to show that we have power over them. District 12 is the poorest out of the twelve districts. It

Essay on “a Rose for Emily” Literary Analysis

A Rose for Emily Literary Analysis In A Rose for Emily , William Faulkner uses setting,
character development, and stylistic devices to express the mystery of Emily and the somewhat
gossip obsessed attitude the townspeople have towards Emily. Faulkner uses the setting to
convey the mystery surrounding Emily and her actions. For example, Faulkner writes knocked at
the door through which no visitor had passed since she ceased giving china painting lessons
eight or ten years earlier. This quote shows the mystery of her house and how nobody knows
what is in it or what goes on inside of it. The townspeople are wondering what goes on behind Miss
Emily s closed doors. Also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The townspeople are very interested in everything about her it seems and this is just another
topic they gossip about. Another example of Miss Emily s character change and how it relates
to the mystery surrounding her is at first she starts going out on Sunday afternoons driving in the
yellow wheeled buggy and the matched team of bays from the livery table. Then, later on, she
wants poison for some odd reason and says I want arsenic, The druggist looked down at her. She
looked back at him, erect, her face like a strained flag.... What you are going to use it for. Miss
Emily just stared at him. (pg.651) Miss Emily is performing many strange actions that spark the
interest of the townspeople. The inhabitants of the town try to give any explanation for the mystery
of why she s buying the poison, such as she is going to commit suicide. Her actions are just
encouraging the townspeople to gossip about the mystery. Faulkner utilizes stylistic devices such
as imagery, and figurative language to express the townspeople and their feeling towards Emily.
For example, the author describes Miss Emily in great detail such as her eyes, lost in the fatty
ridges of her face, looked like two small pieces of coal pressed into a lump of dough as the moved
from one face to another while the visitors stated their

Free Trade Vs Fair Trade
Introduction
Adam Smith, author of The Wealth of Nations, shows support for free trade and emphasises it as a
trade policy which ought to be adopted. Krugman and Obstfeld back Smith s support by stating that
the efficiency of trade is increased by free trade and accumulates the national income of countries.
Free trade is a theory which suggests that each nation benefits in specialising in an economic
activity from which it gains absolute advantage, enjoying absolute superiority over other nations in
a specif economical activity (Peng). With free trade follows opportunity, replacing regulation and
growth of economic activity. (Rugmann and Collinson).

McDonald and Burton clarify that infant industries can feel supported into growth (and sometimes
beyond) by the trade policy of protectionism and tariff barriers. This form of strategic
protectionism enables industries seeking to grow to enjoy the benefits of first mover advantages,
a concept of specialising in producing and exporting only those goods and services which it can
produce more efficiently (Investopedia) and the benefits of economies of scales. A prime example
of this is Amazon, the first online bookstore. By gaining the first mover advantage into the markets,
it has gained and maintained dominance over many firms. Firms have adopted the concepts and
practices such as retailers like Barnes and Nobles. Professer Marvin Lieberman and David
Montgomery, Stanford University, conclude that first mover advantage can be gained from
technology leadership, control of resources and buyer switching costs after gaining the opportunity
to access the pioneering stage of a concept.
Free Trading Areas
Free trade areas, FTA, are economic integration arrangements in which barriers to trade (e.g.
tariffs), exchange of goods and information among member nations are removed. It is arguable to
say that fair trade aims to create equilibrium between LEDC s, less economically developed
countries and developed nations in terms of trading activities and ethics. In saying this, free trading
between more economically developed countries and LEDC s will mean

Generic Deafness Research Paper
Generic deafness can be classified into two sections syndromic and nonsyndromic. Nonsyndromic
affects the ear only and consists of 43 genes that hold recessive mutations and 25 genes, which
consist of dominant mutations.
The restoration of deafness requires the introduction of a missing exogenous gene or gene product.
Gene therapy offers the possibility of regenerating damaged cells by reprogramming cells to obtain
the characteristics of the damaged hair cells. Researchers have discovered a gene called Atoh1, also
known as Math1, which can generate into functional hair cells if stimulated. This experiment shows
that if the gene is forced to activate inside the human ear, new hair cells may be produced in
replacement of dead hair cells. However

The culture of the Iroquois mostly revolved in their tribes and clans. The women owned all

Traits and Values Associated with Femininity in Antigone
ANTIGONE
The conventionally accepted roles of both males and females in ancient Grecian society were well
defined and manifested. Women were considered the weaker of the sexes and, thus, were expected
to remain in the home and perform their domestic duties, while the men were to be rulers and bread
winners. The woman s voice was not heard on any issues affecting the society as her opinions were
thought unworthy of consideration. She was required merely to reproduce, to execute her domestic
duties well and to submit incontestably to the authority of the men. In essence the Greeks valued
their women almost as little as a common slave was valued. These values and traits associated with
femininity in ancient Grecian societies are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Property ownership could only be achieved through gifts, dowry and inheritance. The most
important role of women in ancient Greece, especially married women, was considered to be the
production of lawful children and the execution if household chores. Also she was required to
literally remain inside the home, except she was attending a special event as in those days
women found in the streets were either assumed to be enslaved, a harlot, a concubine or a
woman who had to find work outside of the home because of poverty (Thompson, par.8). It was
also considered respectable for a woman to remain out of sight and audible range when the man
of the house had guests. Evidently, women of ancient Greece were subjected to what modern day
women may consider harsh and unfair treatment as a result of some irrational beliefs and
practices that were given judicial recognition. Because of fear of facing the consequences that
may arise from contesting these laws, many women living during that period made no attempt to
do so. So they remained as they were considered to be weak and helpless because of fear. Sophocles
mythical anecdote of Antigone, however, shows the apparently unseen characteristics of women,
though not all women, in ancient Greece. They were not as weak, helpless and unwise as they were
believed to have been but were strong willed individuals, possessing strong characters and
competent of making sound decisions.

written as though David Hayden is recounting back on his former life, to where he lived in a small
town named Bentrock, in Mercer County, Montana. The novel teaches us a lot about justice and
injustice. The use of power is used to manipulate, influence and give greater leverage over a

The Indiana community aren t always treated equally and fair amongst the white community.
They re forced out of town into little areas that were next to no use and are out of the way, of the
white community. The only benefit they were to the white community was cheap manual labour.
This book shows racism from a negative perspective. Whilst many of the characters in the Novel
portray racism or make racist remarks, the main character and narrator (David) challenges this
behavior due to his affection for Marie. The Indian community is depicted in an undesirable
perception amongst the Hayden men. The racial discrimination publicized all through the Hayden
boys is handed down through their farther. They all seem to believe that Indians are flat footed
and lazy. David mentions that his father believes that Indians with only a few exceptions were,
ignorant, lazy, superstitious and irresponsible . Racism is shown as a function of ignorance and
misunderstanding with Julian Hayden showing a prime example. He believes he is smarter than
the Indians purely because he is white. He refers to the Sioux as red meat and talks down upon
them inhumanely. Julian is very disrespectful towards the Indian community and does not even
take into consideration the rude things he has to say. In return creates a social hierarchy where the

Industrial Hygiene in the Welding Workshop
Industrial Hygiene in the welding workshop Having undergone inspection by OSHA, there are
various issues concerning safety that were noticed and apparently need to be looked into within
the workshop. Being that it is an operation that is being conducted in an industrial area, and in
workshop that deals with welding and joinery, it is critical that all the safety measures are taken
into account in a categorical and safe manner in the bid to eliminate risks from the employees. For
instance there are various experts who are present and I will ensure that their individual expertise is
put to use in the restructuring process. First, the entire employees body must be informed of the
extent of the damage and/or the risks identified by the OSHA, the seriousness of the problem at
hand and instructed not to venture into any area within the workshop condemned by OSHA
without the clearance and subsequent communication through a central communications office that
they have to be informed of. I would also have a formal written process for the restructuring
process within the workshop. This will help in the accurate and safe restructuring in line with
safety standards without exposure to danger of the people involved in the daily work or the
restructuring process. This schedule will help ensure that there is coordination between the
specialists that are to be consulted for the restructuring and avoid skipping of steps as
recommended by OSHA that may endanger lives later on.

What Is The Theme Of The Lay Of The Werewolf
In the story, The Lay of the Werewolf , a faithful husband gets dishonored by his wife after the
wife finds out that the husband is half werewolf. The story takes place in Ancient Greek, during
the Medieval Times, where the Greeks wrote that people could be transformed into werewolves.
As Murray states, it states that the poem demonstrates the kinds of friendship and love that exist
among the three protagonists. It mentions that the poem depicts how de France confronts her
readers with a story that raises a moral issue. It adds that many of de France s poems critique the
unchristian and uncharitable marriages. The story really gives off a good example, on how the

The Negative Effects Of Indian Residential Schools In Canada
The Canadian government created an Indian Residential school system which demonstrated racial
discrimination and caused many Indigenous families to suffer, in the year of 1883. However, the
concept was not simple, for all the injustice happening in these schools. This highlights the mistakes
made, due to Canada s government policies. Proving that the government is not always righteous
toward various communities. The government s choices caused a cultural genocide which impacts
the new generation in Canada s modern society. These religion driven schools destroyed the
Indigenous society. This is fragment of Canadian history that confounds both ones who were
responsible for the cause and those who did not take action toward the dilemma. However, the event
changed Canada as a whole. Although the catastrophic idea of Indian residential schools, coming to
reality caused plenty of treachery, it helped to advance the perspective of people, to build Canada
into the country it is today, although there is a question that follows the concept even today, will
the virtues learn be enough to repair the damage done? These schools did many wrong things, one
of which included performing a variety of nutritional and medical experiments on the students
without them consenting or their parents/guardians knowing. A great number of the aboriginal

Why Are Bow Hunters Important Essay
There are a lot of things for new bow hunters to learn; here are three that I believe are
important.Safety always comes first, even while bow hunting. Understand how to use your
equipment, and take good care of it. Using broken or unfamiliar equipment is dangerous and
may cause injury. Consider each action before you make it. You will never regret being careful.
Preparedness is the next step. As the saying goes, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. There s a lot
to learn and do before you can get out in the woods. Make sure you have everything you need and
know how to use it. Next learn about your target animal; understand their habits and where to locate
them. Experienced hunters or huntingmagazines offer excellent tips

Camp Ketcha Research Paper
Camp Ketcha offers a unique environment for preschoolers to play. At their nature based
preschool, not only do they play inside with the typical toys for the little tikes, they use the
outdoors to entertain their students for hours. Usually, when someone thinks of children s toys,
legos, barbies, and toy race cars come to mind. But at Camp Ketcha, the children typically are
more entertained by horses, gourds, and apple trees. Throughout the course of the day, the kids
were either playing one on one with each other, playing in a group, or playing with a staff
member; very rarely did they playby themselves. The dynamic with which they played, however,
changed throughout the day, depending on the activity. I found that during morning free play was
the time the kids were more likely to play by themselves, or with a staff member. During this time
there were also fairly large groups (5 or 6 kids) that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Missouri River s the longest river in North America. It starts in Western Montana and ends
North of St. Louis, Missouri. Most people think that the Missouri River was made over 30 million

years ago. The banks of the Missouri River were settled on by more than 10 different tribes of
Native Americans. The word Missouri can be defined from the language of some of the tribes as

Howard Zinn on Colonization
Though a vast majority of students learn about Columbus great conquests and celebrate him as a
hero, very few know of the horrible atrocities he caused when he first landed in America. While
considered a hero by most in the United States, Zinn argues that people should think twice about
Columbus actions, and question whether his behavior to the Indians was necessary. In quotes one
and five, Zinn clearly depicts his thoughts on the atrocities done by Columbus and other colonists to
the natives living in America. Zinn first refers to the author Morrison and how he deals with who
Columbus really was. Instead of [lying] outright about the past or [omitting] facts, which might lead
to unacceptable conclusions, Morrison tells the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sword, could split a man in two. Other soldiers would throw children of a village they sacked into
a river by their feet, shouting, Boil there, you offspring of the devil!
Later on, as more colonists came to the new world, even more Indians were killed. When
missionaries tried to convert the Indians, there were miscommunications over the teachings, which
lead to even more deaths. When pictures of Mary and other religious symbols were given to the
Native Americans, they buried them so as to ask God for a good harvest. The colonists interpreted
this as denying the Christian faith, and therefore burned the Indians at the stake, so as to purify
their souls. The actions of the missionaries and other colonists were so evil that when an Indian was
being burned at the stake, he asked the Franciscan friar if Christians all went to Heaven. When told
that they did, [the Indian] said he would prefer to go to Hell. The horrible atrocities that the
European settlers brought upon the Indians were awful. It decimated the population, leaving less
than one tenth of the Indians living compared to the amount before Columbus found America.
Later on in A People s History of the United States, Zinn questions whether all this bloodshed and
deceit from Columbus to Cortez, Pizarro, the Puritans [was] a necessity for the human race to

A literary trope is the use of figurative language for artistic effect such as using a figure of speech.
The word trope has also come to be used for describing commonly recurring literary and rhetorical

Nietzsche Madman Allegory In The Gay Science
An Analysis of Nietzsche s Madman Allegory in The Gay Science Nietzsche s madman allegory
represents the current moral situation of society during his time a growing belief that God does
not exist, a movement away from religious values. Nietzsche does not mean literally that God
has been murdered, but because mankind created God, we also have the ability to kill God. In
Nietzsche s point of view, mankind created God by also creating a belief in God. By saying that
mankind murdered God, Nietzsche is proposing that we no longer believe in Him. With the
grounding that religion provided in the past, Nietzsche fears that mankind will be left without
purpose and virtues to lead them to do the correct thing. The light, in Nietzsche s allegory is
belief in God; for this paper, light is a focus because of the implications that follow when there is
none. With no light, everything previously known about moral beliefs and the world is overturned.
Nietzsche proposes that instead of God guiding people (because people no longer believe in Him),
people can follow their own virtues, such as courage, faith in oneself, and patience for the future.
Nietzsche sets the scene for the current moral situation of society in the beginning of his allegory:
the madman in the bright morning lit a lantern and ran around the marketplace crying incessantly, I
m looking for God! (В§125). The madman is distressed because many fundamental beliefs of

Pygmalion Movie Vs Play
Imagine growing up and having to sell flowers on the street to anyone who passes to make a

after she is transformed she knows not what is to become of her, but she realizes she does not have

Also,
Higgins and Eliza have moments where they begin to sing about the short lines Higgins has Eliza
reading in order to improve her pronunciation (Levin, 1964). Therefore, the play and the film
contrast with the use of music because the book does not implement the musical approach as the
film does.
On the other hand, the characters in Pygmalion and My Fair Lady perform both similar and
different actions compared to one or the other. Additionally, however both the play and the film
mostly shared similar actions rather than being unalike. For example, Eliza says in the final act of
the play that Pickering treats a flower girl as if she was a duchess (Shaw, 1916,

her how any woman would want to be treated. On the other hand, Higgins did not treat Eliza with
the respect she thought that she deserved and this made her angry in both the film and the play.

Fall Prevention In The Elderly Essay
Quality Improvement for Fall Prevention in the Elderly
The occurrence of falls among the elderly is related to multiple factors, such as inherent and
external issues. Studies have proven that when appropriate intervention is put in place, falls are
preventable. A quality improvement according to Polit Beck (2012) is created to examine the
willingness of individuals to understand these studies and put them into practice or to appraise the
results of interventions already in place. This paper will examine a practice issue facilitated by the
advanced practice nurse (APN), explore the theoretical underpinning of change, describe an
improvement tool and model for improvement and allocated resources towards the prevention of
fall among the elderly.
Selected Practice Issue
The occurrence of falls in older adults are common and can result in serious injuries, even death.
Owing to multifaceted changes in the aging, falls and related injuries are rampant in the healthcare

The river was engineered for the economic benefits of London s bureaucrats and the engineering
structures that it entailed subjected the river to disciplinary control, and allowed the more
efficient flow of the river, (and the goods it carried) reworking it in accordance with the priorities
of a hidden geography of value. The economic value of the Thames was enormous and the
commercial activities it generated were threatened by the ongoing problem of congestion. The
geographic location of the Thames was significant during this period when London was growing
fast. The river was a source of wealth for the bureaucrats who controlled its administration, the
industrialistsВё and capitalists who relieved on the river to bring their goods to consumers.
Maintaining order on the Thames had been a priority for the English dating as far back as the
Magna Carta. In the twelfth century, the English authorities established the Corporation of London
to administer the use of the Thames waterways and navigation. The London authorities codified a
series of legislation acts to regulate the use of the water and improve the river. Oliver argued that
the improvements on the Thames made it more navigable and provided economic opportunities for
the City of London and the people living along the river route. Oliver s strongest argument was that

Driving While Driving And Driving
Driving and Distraction In an age dominated by technology, an individual s cell phone is a very
important device for the function of day to day tasks. Whether driving to the grocery store,
driving to work, or driving to a friends house, chances are you have used your cell phone at least
once while operating a vehicle, but is this dangerous? Simultaneously driving and the use of a cell
phone is deemed illegal in many states under the presumption that it is a distraction to driving.
This legislation is usually preconceived under the notion that the distraction comes from peripheral
factors associated with the use of a cell phone and not the conversation on the cell phone itself.
Past research measured individuals who were using a cell phone prior to an accident, but this
questions validity. These individuals whom used a cell phone before an accident could be prone to
more risky behavior on the road and not due to the use of the cell phone itself. Other research
attempted to measure distraction with phone conversations, but relied on arithmetic, reasoning, and
mental tasks, all which are not of a typical phone conversation. Research conducted in 2001 by
Strayer and Johnston aimed to resolve these issues by measuring the extent in which the use of cell
phone by conversation interferes with driving and the underlying factors for the interference. This
research is of utmost importance because individuals could not only be putting their self at risk

The Concept Of Leadership And Leadership
Thought Item 2 (Option 1)
In today s society the concept of leadership provides a structure for decisions to be made within
teams, organizations, and businesses. The notion that only leaders should be credited for the
success or failure carried out by their teams has been instilled in our minds since we first
understood the concept of hierarchies. The fact that most business schools even posses a required
leadership course proves the significance of this concept within today s society. While it is
astounding how essential the idea of leadership has become, it is important for us to begin looking
at leadership under a new light: leadership does not exist without followers because the followers

The amount of work that the head of a team puts into a project is quite small compared to the total
amount of work applied by everyone associated with the completion of the task. When defining
the significance of roles within organizations, it is important to factor in the composition of the
culture as a whole. Many people credit the creation of an organization s culture to the head of
the organization. While this single leader may define how they envision the culture to be, the
members as a whole truly develop the culture. This insight allows us to shift our focus from the
leader to the followers. As a society, by accepting the fact that followers are our true leaders, we
are bound to endure many positive and negative consequences resulting from the
implementation. Followers will likely feel more empowered to make more decisions because
they will be receiving more recognition for their work. This increase in empowerment will
cause followers to be more productive within their roles, which will lead to a harder working
society as a whole as more and more organizational structures follow suit. Another positive aspect
of following this new approach is that we will steer away from the great amount of negative
consequences created by single leaders due to the current composition of leadership. For
businesses, less money will be allocated towards executives because they will no longer make as
much money solely off of their title within

have never seen in my life. It all started that drizzly night, she didn t seem to be there, waiting for

even a charismatic and dramatic star like Margo. It was almost odd not to see her, funny how
odd behaviours become normal when repeated. I remember she approached me, pitifully
walking out of a dark doorway, she began to ask about Margo and Bill and Lloyd. I was amazed,
never had I seen seemingly genuine love and devotion for someone as she did. How I did not see

We all should have seen, her interest was not on Margo, it was on the theatre and all its applause.
Soon after taking her in to see Margo, she told her life story. We were transfixed, it seemed tragic
and it sent Margo to tears. Only Birdy saw through the lies that Eve told. Birdy was right and
retrospectively it does seem unrealistic that she would have everything but the blood hounds

Ssri s For Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor
SSRI stands for Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor. These medications are in a class of drugs
called antidepressants. Antidepressants first started being marketed in the late nineteen nineties to
adults for the treatment of depression and anxiety. Studies done during this time showed that
SSRI s had less negative side effects compared to depression medications that were already being
used. Prozac was the first drug in this classification of antidepressants. Today not only are SSRI s
used for the treatment of depression and anxiety but they also are prescribed to treat post traumatic
stress disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. When SSRI s first started being prescribed
they were intended for use in adults only but in the early... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Physical symptoms can include changes in appetite, changes in sleep, vocal outbursts or crying,
difficulty concentrating, fatigue and low energy, and physical complaints such as stomachaches,
headaches. In most cases there tends to be a reduced ability to function during events and
activities at home or with friends, in school, extracurricular activities, and in other hobbies or
interests that are caused by feelings of worthlessness or guilt (Cummings et al., 2014). It is
important to note that not all children have all of these symptoms. Most children will display
different symptoms at different times and in different settings. Although some children may
continue to function reasonably well in structured environments, most kids with significant
depression will suffer a noticeable change in social activities, loss of interest in school and poor
academic performance, or a change in appearance. It is also common that children may also
begin using drugs or alcohol, especially if they are over the age of twelve. Suicide is a very real
concern in today s young depressed population young, it is a fact that children do attempt suicide
(Stone, 2014). Many children may do so impulsively when they are upset or angry. Girls are more
likely to attempt suicide, but boys are more likely to actually kill themselves

Sex in the Chinese Cultural Revolution
A. Plan of Investigation The purpose of this study is to answer the question: To what extent did
Chinese leaders display their power through the controlling of sex in the Chinese Cultural
Revolution? This can give historians a better understanding of the extent to which the Chinese
leaders controlled every aspect of the Chinese people s life. This is a fairly new subject because, as
I will discuss later in the project, sex was silenced in the Cultural Revolution.

such instruction was a birth control lecture given in [my] office, but [I did] not listen carefully. It
was too dirty. It was not until 1986 that sexual education classes became available in some schools,
lifting the age old taboo. Sex was taught as a dirty act, so much so that there was not even a polite
term for making love. One advice column responded to a letter in reference to masturbation and it
denounced the act as causing bodily deterioration so one should refrain from such disturbing acts.
Some married women still detested the thought of having intercourse with their husbands. Although
the Revolution was dominated by political concerns ; it ventured to reform the society and minds of
the people. From the start of the Revolution, sex [was] not a private matter between individuals.
Sex became a subject that was considered bourgeois and hence taboo and the government silenced
sexuality not by issuing laws prohibiting it but by becoming silent itself. It was local governments

In short this means that in order for a district to use public funds for the purpose of bettering a
property or maintaining a facility, the district must first approve it through the board of the
commissioner s court. This is done to provide better oversight within the district and hold the
district accountable to its financial position before the district send public money generated by tax

In this report they must include the maximum dollar amount that will be used to fund activities of
improvement within that district as well as proposed labor costs. The district must keep copies of

Sistine Chapel Challenges
The Sistine chapel was built between the years of 1475 and 1483 in Vatican City and is named
after the pope who had the chapel built, Sixtus IV. One of the most impressive things about the
Sistine chapel and one of the most famous works of art in history is Michelangelo s painting on
the ceiling of the chapel. The project was completed using fresco. In 1508 Michelangelowas
requested by PopeJulius II to repaint the chapel. The Chapel at the time was painted with a blue
sky and gold stars. Pope Julius II original request was to have the chapel painted with the twelve
Christian Apostles and when the project was completed Michelangelo had created more than 3,000
figures. The ceiling was created depicting nine stories from the bible s book of genesis, including

The first challenge and maybe the easiest for Michelangelo to overcome was the fact that he had
no experience painting with fresco and he considered himself a sculptor. The next challenge was
the sheer size of the painting at a whopping 14 meters by 40.5 meters. That is more than 132
square meters larger than a basketball court. Completing this large of painting was a monumental
task enough even without all the other challenges faced by Michelangelo. Michelangelo accepted
this commission regardless and would continue to face many more challenges over the next four
years. One of the most obvious challenges that stood in the way of completing this challenging
work of art was the fact that it was the ceiling that needed to be painted. A local townsman offered
to manufacture scaffolding for Michelangelo that would hang from the ceiling, but Michelangelo
refused because he did not want to leave holes in the ceiling from where the scaffolding would
have hung. Michelangelo then created his own scaffolding that could be held in place by brackets

The Concept Of Abstract Data Types
Abstract The objective or purpose of this paper is to drill deep down into the concept of Abstract
Data Types. Draw the basic comparison between ADTs and few of the most frequently confused
terms with the concept. Examine how modern programing languages, predominantly, java, C#,
Python, Ruby, Objective C and C++ put these ideas into practice. The intent of my research is to
help developers identify the strengths and weakness of different abstract data type and evaluate
scenario under which each data type can be utilized to fully harness its maximum potential.
Keywords: Abstract Data Types, Data Types, Data Structures Abstract Data Types: Examine
How Different Languages Choose To Use the Concept Since most of the popular programing
languages used today are object oriented in nature, which in turn, is not a language, but a set of
ideas that is supported by many languages, part of my research will be focused on how these
concepts came into play and the rest will be aimed at collecting arguments to elaborate distinction
and similarities between the two paradigms. Before the concept of Object Oriented development
was introduced, programs were written as a long piece of code, often with all the data and
variables defined in one place and all the logic in another. This Approach to programing was known
as Procedure Oriented. Although, procedural languages had named functions and subroutines to
make the program look more modular and maintainable, but as the code got bigger and more

the whole world. It attracts football fans from all across the world as European teams compete for
the coveted Champions League trophy. In 2017, the final features Real Madrid from the Spanish
La Liga and Juventus from the Italian Seria A. On the other hand, the Super Bowl is the yearly

Several multinational companies sponsored the UEFA Champions League. According to the policies
of the league, not more than eight companies should only sponsor a match. The game played on
3rd June 2017 was sponsored by Nissan, Heineken, MasterCard, Gazprom and PepsiCo companies.
During the match, the companies were allocated advertising boards that were visible on the
perimeter wall of the field used by the players.
Similarly, in both leagues, fans remain cheerful all through to the end of the match. For example,
even though Juventus fans were disappointed especially during the second half of the match, they
cheered their team to the end. They encouraged the players to keep on until the end. They only
stopped after the game had ended and their team had lost to the opponents. Likewise, United States
show support to their specific teams all through the match. Additionally, in both teams, fans enter
and cheer their teams by raising banners for the teams playing. Most fans put on attires with similar
colors as those of the playing teams.
Both UEFA Champions League fans and those in the United States do not behave in any manner
that may suggest hooliganism. The match played on 3rd of June 2017 was calm with no case of a
misdemeanor from the fans. Consequently, fans in America also maintain their cool even when
they lose to their opponents. I observed that the Juventus supporters were sorrowful. Despite this
fact, the fans did

Taking English 1302 With Texas Tech University Essay
Taking English 1302 with Texas Tech University has been a highly rewarding experience. This
class focuses on literature reviews and researched arguments, but when I signed up for this class I
did not know the difference between the two. Now I know that literature reviews use sources to
inform the reader about current studies on a topic, while researched arguments use sources to
support the author s claim and persuade the reader. During this class I have learned how to write a
literature review/ researched argument as well as many mechanics related to general writing. In
English 1302, I was instructed on how to write a literature review and a researched argument.
While I found literature reviews to be easier than researched arguments, I still learned how to
synthesize sources and their respective information. I realized that I did not need to put in much of
my own commentary compared to an argumentative paper. Initially, I could not see how subtopics
and themes could connect several pieces of writing just as much as the subject of the paper could.
I also used to focus on the authors of sources rather than the connected information written by the
authors, but now I focus on the latter. Taking this course made me realize that I had never used
common ground while writing an argument, but it is very critical for persuasion. For example, in
my researched argument I wrote: ... you, as a consumer, have been affected by robotics in more
ways than you know; robots aid humans in many

Product Description Of Rat And Monkey Based Experiments Essay
Adipotide: Product Description
Adipotide is a synthetic peptide that possesses anti obesity properties. this peptide particularly
targets and destroys specific proteins that constitute the surface of blood vessels that support
white fat (adipose) tissue hence interfering with the supply of blood to the fat cells and resulting
in their adoptosis (reabsorption and metabolization). Adipotide was initially referred to as
Prohibitin TP01 (Prohibitin Targeting Peptide 1). It is a peptidomimetic that was synthesized by
American scientists as a potential therapeutic drug for obesity and its amino acid sequence is
CKGGRAKDC GG D(KLAKLAK)2. Adipotide has a molecular formula of
C111H204N36O28S2. Peptidomimetics are tiny protein like chains that imitate peptides. It is an
experimental drug for weight loss. It was developed in a way that enables it to bind to two
receptors, prohibitin and ANXA2 which are found in blood vessels that support white adipose tissue
. In rat and monkey based experiments, Adipotide has been shown to bring about rapid weight loss
in both mice and rhesus monkeys. In general, Adipotide has been observed to bring about weight
loss by reducing fat tissue especially in the abdominal region), rapid metabolic changes, and
decreased food intake. Product History
Adipotide was first synthesized by Dr.Wadih Arap and Renata Pasqualini in their efforts to develop
a drug with therapeutic properties in the treatment of cancer. The researchers specifically designed

We All Learn From Our Mistakes Essay
Everyone, at some point in their life, has made a mistake. Sometimes we get lucky and only falter
a little, making it through the problem relatively intact. Other times, we mess up a lot and have to
fix what was damaged over a long period of time. However, the same is true for most, if not all
cases those who make the mistakelearn from it. Often times, our failures teach us valuable lessons
that we only gained because of the experience we gathered after messing up. I have personally
achieved a wealth of knowledge and experience just from all of my own little mishaps, and a few
major ones.
One instance of a failure that taught me well was when I tried to find a quick solution for boiling
eggs. I was so tired of what I considered the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s obvious that the mistake I made taught me a very useful lesson that day never try to boil eggs in
the microwave.
Another turbulent time that taught me through failure was when I tried to arrange a birthday
party for my sister. Everything was supposed to be arranged by me, so I went out a bought the
invitation cards, party favors, balloons, decorations, food, and a few gifts. I filled out the
invitations early and put them in a box to store them until I was ready to send them. Time flew
by fast between daily life with my kids and responsibilities, and before I knew it the day of the
party was upon me. Quickly that morning I decorated and cooked and prepared everything. As the
hour of the party came and went, no one showed up but the birthday girl, whom I had called
personally. Later it occurred to me that I hadn t sent out the invitations! That was why no one had
come. I soon learned from that mistake to be more organized and manage my time better when
planning events.
Yet another example of a failure that became instructive was when I tried to tilemy bathroom floor.
I simply did not want to dish out the big bucks to have a worker do my tiling, which I assumed
would be an easy job. I bought the necessary items and dove into the project with an eager do it
yourself attitude and absolutely no clue about what I was doing. I tried diligently to tackle the task,
but in the end, I only managed to get grout everywhere and

Child Rearing In Higher Social Classes
In many societies, there are people with different assets and prestige in the world. Many people
in higher social classes have different ways in raising their children than people in lower classes.
The reason behind this inequality is due to social classes that exist. Social classes are groups of
people with different statuses. Social classes are important because it helps determine the way a
child will be raised. In addition, it is shown to significantly affect a child s future. Furthermore,
social classis shown to affect people s families such as with child rearing. Child rearing has
changed over time during the colonial era there were no classes that were defined, both parents
were responsible for child rearing. During the industrial era, most of the responsibility belonged
to the mother. In a society, the social class of a parent impacts a child s life. Therefore, due to the
parents social class children would be able to go to better schools such as private schools to better
their education and later have better jobs in the future. As a result, this impact on a child s life due

  • 3. Wild Yeast Research Paper I thought this story idea might pique your interest. Due to revelations about the nature of wild yeast, curious brewers have a new ingredient to explore. In the near future, yeast obtained from wasp guts might make the leap from the lab bench to the beer hall. Nut The next time you reach for a newspaper to squash a reviled bug, think about this: wasps and other insects do a lot more for humans than ruin our picnics. Insects also provide essential environmental services, such as, pollinating crops, and in the coming years, stinging insects might serve as the catalyst for new styles of beer. For beer nerds, it would be an opportunity to try something new, while presenting brewers with the chance to add a new dimension of their ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Typically, they re loath to introduce wild strains of yeastto their product, because they tend to impart funky off putting flavors. So when Sebastian Ibarra, an entomologist and instructor at Simon Fraser University, approached the chief brewer Condrad Gsomer at BrassNeck Brewery with news that his lab partners had isolated a beneficial strain of wild yeast found in wasp intestines, Gsomer became intrigued. After all, Humans have experimented with fermentation for thousands of years, and it may be our greatest feat since the taming of fire. The discovery of yeast in wasp guts also speaks volumes about the appeal of alcohol to a broad cross section of the animal kingdom, ranging from fig wasps to humans clinking beer steins. The question is, can wild yeast extracted from wasp guts work also wonders for beer and where does that lead? At least two research labs based in North America are investigating this phenomena and both teams are willing to discuss their forays into flavor with wild yeast at the helm. • 4. How Did The Ku Klux Klan Affect Our Society Since 1865, the Ku Klux Klan has been responsible for America s many atrocities in history. Driven by hatred and resentment, the Klan terrorized minorities of all kinds in this country for more than a century. Extending into almost every southern state by 1870, it became a vehicle for white southern resistance to the Republican Party s Reconstruction era policies. This single violent group was responsible for thousands of deaths, and would help to weaken the political power of Southern blacks and Republicans. On December 24, 1865, during the reconstruction of the South after the Civil War, six Confederate veterans from Pulaski, Tennessee created the infamous Ku Klux Klan. Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest became Grand Wizard of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simmons, in 1915, on Stone Mountain, Georgia. This new version of the Klan focused mainly on new areas such as anti Catholicism and anti immigration and they supported prohibition. It stressed fundamentalism in religion. A pamphlet published in Atlanta by Simmons in 1917, brought into the light the Klan s goals as to shield the sanctity of the home and the chastity of womanhood; to maintain white supremacy; to teach and faithfully inculcate a high spiritual philosophy through an exalted ritualism; and by a practical devotedness to conserve, protect and maintain the distinctive institutions, rights, privileges, principles and ideals of a pure Americanism. (McWhirter, Cameron 65) The new founder of the Klan recruited many new followers by joining fraternal organizations. The new members paid initiation fees and received Ku Klux Klan costumes in return. The Klan presented itself as a fraternal, activist and ardently patriotic organization. In 1922, 1924, and1926 the Klan elected many state officials and a number of Congressmen even though they professed themselves nonpolitical. The organization took its symbol, a burning cross, and held rallies, parades, and marches around the country (History 2). The burning cross was simply a symbol of intimidation. Its lighting during meetings was often accompanied by prayer and singing of hymns. At its peak in the 1920 s, Klan membership exceeded four million people nationwide. Members were drawn from all sectors of society, and many civic leaders, politicians, and law enforcement officials either belonged or deferred to the Klan. The growing violence from the Klan caused wide resentment, and by 1922 a number of anti Klan organizations had formed all over the place. A prominent Protestant minister, Reinhold Niebuhr spoke out against the Klan and that gained national attention. After that, many opposing groups started speaking out against the Klan and their violent ways. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On The Hunger Games Culture Essay The Hunger Games take place in a country of Panem. Panem is made up of the Capitol and Thirteen Districts. The Dark Days brought the uprising of the Districts against the Capitol. Twelve Districts were defeated and the thirteenth was obliterated. This rebellion created the Treaty of Treason which was a new set of laws that guarantees peace and a yearly reminder that the Dark Days must never be repeated, it gave us the HungerGames. (Collins Page 18) The Dark Days are the reason there are major differences in their culture compared to my own. The Hunger Games is a fight to the death. ... each of the twelve districts must provide one girl and one boy, called tributes, to participate. (Collins Page 18) The reaping system is how they pick both tributes from each district. The reaping system is basically two glass balls with everybody s name in it from, age 12 18, each district. Each year they have to put at least one name slip in the ball, but you can put a max of four each year and get extra food for your family. The last tribute standing wins. The last tribute alive receives a life of ease back at home, and their district will be showered in prizes, largely consisting of food. Essay on “a Rose for Emily” Literary Analysis Cameron Barba Ms. Carunchio English 11B 12 February 2009 A Rose for Emily Literary Analysis In A Rose for Emily , William Faulkner uses setting, character development, and stylistic devices to express the mystery of Emily and the somewhat gossip obsessed attitude the townspeople have towards Emily. Faulkner uses the setting to convey the mystery surrounding Emily and her actions. For example, Faulkner writes knocked at the door through which no visitor had passed since she ceased giving china painting lessons eight or ten years earlier. This quote shows the mystery of her house and how nobody knows what is in it or what goes on inside of it. The townspeople are wondering what goes on behind Miss Emily s closed doors. Also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The townspeople are very interested in everything about her it seems and this is just another topic they gossip about. Another example of Miss Emily s character change and how it relates to the mystery surrounding her is at first she starts going out on Sunday afternoons driving in the yellow wheeled buggy and the matched team of bays from the livery table. Then, later on, she wants poison for some odd reason and says I want arsenic, The druggist looked down at her. She looked back at him, erect, her face like a strained flag.... What you are going to use it for. Miss Emily just stared at him. (pg.651) Miss Emily is performing many strange actions that spark the interest of the townspeople. The inhabitants of the town try to give any explanation for the mystery of why she s buying the poison, such as she is going to commit suicide. Her actions are just encouraging the townspeople to gossip about the mystery. Faulkner utilizes stylistic devices such as imagery, and figurative language to express the townspeople and their feeling towards Emily. For example, the author describes Miss Emily in great detail such as her eyes, lost in the fatty ridges of her face, looked like two small pieces of coal pressed into a lump of dough as the moved from one face to another while the visitors stated their ... Krugman and Obstfeld back Smith s support by stating that the efficiency of trade is increased by free trade and accumulates the national income of countries. Free trade is a theory which suggests that each nation benefits in specialising in an economic activity from which it gains absolute advantage, enjoying absolute superiority over other nations in a specif economical activity (Peng). With free trade follows opportunity, replacing regulation and growth of economic activity. (Rugmann and Collinson). McDonald and Burton clarify that infant industries can feel supported into growth (and sometimes beyond) by the trade policy of protectionism and tariff barriers. This form of strategic protectionism enables industries seeking to grow to enjoy the benefits of first mover advantages, a concept of specialising in producing and exporting only those goods and services which it can produce more efficiently (Investopedia) and the benefits of economies of scales. A prime example of this is Amazon, the first online bookstore. By gaining the first mover advantage into the markets, it has gained and maintained dominance over many firms. Firms have adopted the concepts and practices such as retailers like Barnes and Nobles. Professer Marvin Lieberman and David Montgomery, Stanford University, conclude that first mover advantage can be gained from technology leadership, control of resources and buyer switching costs after gaining the opportunity to access the pioneering stage of a concept. Free Trading Areas Free trade areas, FTA, are economic integration arrangements in which barriers to trade (e.g. tariffs), exchange of goods and information among member nations are removed. It is arguable to say that fair trade aims to create equilibrium between LEDC s, less economically developed countries and developed nations in terms of trading activities and ethics. Nonsyndromic affects the ear only and consists of 43 genes that hold recessive mutations and 25 genes, which consist of dominant mutations. The restoration of deafness requires the introduction of a missing exogenous gene or gene product. Gene therapy offers the possibility of regenerating damaged cells by reprogramming cells to obtain the characteristics of the damaged hair cells. Researchers have discovered a gene called Atoh1, also known as Math1, which can generate into functional hair cells if stimulated. This experiment shows that if the gene is forced to activate inside the human ear, new hair cells may be produced in replacement of dead hair cells. However ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Traits and Values Associated with Femininity in Antigone ANTIGONE The conventionally accepted roles of both males and females in ancient Grecian society were well defined and manifested. Women were considered the weaker of the sexes and, thus, were expected to remain in the home and perform their domestic duties, while the men were to be rulers and bread winners. The woman s voice was not heard on any issues affecting the society as her opinions were thought unworthy of consideration. She was required merely to reproduce, to execute her domestic duties well and to submit incontestably to the authority of the men. In essence the Greeks valued their women almost as little as a common slave was valued. These values and traits associated with femininity in ancient Grecian societies are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Property ownership could only be achieved through gifts, dowry and inheritance. The most important role of women in ancient Greece, especially married women, was considered to be the production of lawful children and the execution if household chores. Also she was required to literally remain inside the home, except she was attending a special event as in those days women found in the streets were either assumed to be enslaved, a harlot, a concubine or a woman who had to find work outside of the home because of poverty (Thompson, par.8). It was also considered respectable for a woman to remain out of sight and audible range when the man of the house had guests. Evidently, women of ancient Greece were subjected to what modern day women may consider harsh and unfair treatment as a result of some irrational beliefs and practices that were given judicial recognition. Because of fear of facing the consequences that may arise from contesting these laws, many women living during that period made no attempt to do so. So they remained as they were considered to be weak and helpless because of fear. Sophocles mythical anecdote of Antigone, however, shows the apparently unseen characteristics of women, though not all women, in ancient Greece. They were not as weak, helpless and unwise as they were believed to have been but were strong willed individuals, possessing strong characters and competent of making sound decisions. ... The research in artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly at an unstoppable rate. Being that it is an operation that is being conducted in an industrial area, and in workshop that deals with welding and joinery, it is critical that all the safety measures are taken into account in a categorical and safe manner in the bid to eliminate risks from the employees. I would also have a formal written process for the restructuring process within the workshop. This will help in the accurate and safe restructuring in line with safety standards without exposure to danger of the people involved in the daily work or the restructuring process. Nietzsche Madman Allegory In The Gay Science An Analysis of Nietzsche s Madman Allegory in The Gay Science Nietzsche s madman allegory represents the current moral situation of society during his time a growing belief that God does not exist, a movement away from religious values. Nietzsche does not mean literally that God has been murdered, but because mankind created God, we also have the ability to kill God. In Nietzsche s point of view, mankind created God by also creating a belief in God. By saying that mankind murdered God, Nietzsche is proposing that we no longer believe in Him. With the grounding that religion provided in the past, Nietzsche fears that mankind will be left without purpose and virtues to lead them to do the correct thing. The light, in Nietzsche s allegory is belief in God; for this paper, light is a focus because of the implications that follow when there is none. With no light, everything previously known about moral beliefs and the world is overturned. Nietzsche proposes that instead of God guiding people (because people no longer believe in Him), people can follow their own virtues, such as courage, faith in oneself, and patience for the future. Nietzsche sets the scene for the current moral situation of society in the beginning of his allegory: the madman in the bright morning lit a lantern and ran around the marketplace crying incessantly, I m looking for God! Fall Prevention In The Elderly Essay Quality Improvement for Fall Prevention in the Elderly The occurrence of falls among the elderly is related to multiple factors, such as inherent and external issues. Studies have proven that when appropriate intervention is put in place, falls are preventable. A quality improvement according to Polit Beck (2012) is created to examine the willingness of individuals to understand these studies and put them into practice or to appraise the results of interventions already in place. This paper will examine a practice issue facilitated by the advanced practice nurse (APN), explore the theoretical underpinning of change, describe an improvement tool and model for improvement and allocated resources towards the prevention of fall among the elderly. Selected Practice Issue The occurrence of falls in older adults are common and can result in serious injuries, even death. Owing to multifaceted changes in the aging, falls and related injuries are rampant in the healthcare settings. The Thames has been an integral part of England and has been one of the most important trade and transport routes since ancient times. It is the longest riverin England and the second longest in the United Kingdom, running approximately 215 miles long. Whether driving to the grocery store, driving to work, or driving to a friends house, chances are you have used your cell phone at least once while operating a vehicle, but is this dangerous? Simultaneously driving and the use of a cell phone is deemed illegal in many states under the presumption that it is a distraction to driving. This legislation is usually preconceived under the notion that the distraction comes from peripheral factors associated with the use of a cell phone and not the conversation on the cell phone itself. Past research measured individuals who were using a cell phone prior to an accident, but this questions validity. These individuals whom used a cell phone before an accident could be prone to more risky behavior on the road and not due to the use of the cell phone itself. Other research attempted to measure distraction with phone conversations, but relied on arithmetic, reasoning, and mental tasks, all which are not of a typical phone conversation. Research conducted in 2001 by Strayer and Johnston aimed to resolve these issues by measuring the extent in which the use of cell phone by conversation interferes with driving and the underlying factors for the interference. This research is of utmost importance because individuals could not only be putting their self at risk when using a cellphone while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Concept Of Leadership And Leadership Thought Item 2 (Option 1) In today s society the concept of leadership provides a structure for decisions to be made within teams, organizations, and businesses. The notion that only leaders should be credited for the success or failure carried out by their teams has been instilled in our minds since we first understood the concept of hierarchies. The fact that most business schools even posses a required leadership course proves the significance of this concept within today s society. The amount of work that the head of a team puts into a project is quite small compared to the total amount of work applied by everyone associated with the completion of the task. Many people credit the creation of an organization s culture to the head of the organization. While this single leader may define how they envision the culture to be, the members as a whole truly develop the culture. This insight allows us to shift our focus from the leader to the followers. As a society, by accepting the fact that followers are our true leaders, we are bound to endure many positive and negative consequences resulting from the implementation. Followers will likely feel more empowered to make more decisions because they will be receiving more recognition for their work. This increase in empowerment will cause followers to be more productive within their roles, which will lead to a harder working society as a whole as more and more organizational structures follow suit. Another positive aspect of following this new approach is that we will steer away from the great amount of negative consequences created by single leaders due to the current composition of leadership.
