Grendel And Unferth Relationship
Grendel and Unferth have a pretty interesting relationship in the book Grendel. Grendel is a monster
that at first did not really understand what being a monster was all about. After one of the biggest
turning points in the book, when he finally meets the dragon that changes his view, Grendel begins to
see himself for who he really is and shows it with his actions throughout the rest of the novel. Grendel,
unlike Unferth, is immortal, which is why their relationship is interesting since Unferth fights Grendel
to be immortal (in a sense of his legacy). In Grendel, Unferth is the perfect hero to his civilization, the
perfect body, bravery and strength. He knows that everyone looks up to him, so Unferth decides to
make his legacy last until the

Monk And The Riddle
The book that I have chosen to review is The Monk and the Riddle . There are several quotes in the
book that relate to business entrepreneurship, however the quotes can also be used in everyday life.
Mr. Komisa s book is similar to an instruction manual on what to do when life throws you curves,
while you are trying to walk a straight path in pursuing yours dream. Although you may stray off the
path you must gather yourself and regroup, get back on the path and continue on to reach your goals
learning every step of the way. Analysis
Komisar s riddles are aimed to inspire people to think about their life and what they want to make of
it. There a several quotes and statements in his book that will make a person think outside of the box,

We must be proactive making things happen instead of waiting to make things happen, but we have
less risk than leaving things to chance. Starting your own business is a risk you have to believe in
yourself and be will to take the risk even when things don t seem to be perfect. There are two options
if you fall on your face you can either learn from it and try again not making the same mistakes or
give up. Financial management is also important as an entrepreneur you have to be leader when it
comes to stepping out on a limb for what you believe you are capable of doing. It requires planning
and budgeting for the cost of starting a business, keeping the business up and running, and also having
a back up plan for unplanned expenditures that may occur.
Conclusion
The Monk and the Riddle has several quotes and lessons the primary theme is perseverance through
failure. To be successful in our endeavors , we must be able to except failure and learn from it. We
must remain passionate about our goals and do all that we can to reach them, knowing that there are
things in life that we cannot control no matter how hard we try. Failure is a part of life and as long as
we are to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off we have

Health Care Leadership Essay
An excellent health care leader needs to be surrounded and supported by competent and empathetic
subordinate health care professionals who like what they do.
Leaders in health care should be upfront and leading by example to demonstrate their leadership
abilities and assist with health care duties and responsibilities. A good leader says let s go and gets
things done instead of waiting for others to get them done. He must be in the front line seeing patients
and managing the health care duties that makes their health care practices successful. An efficient
leader must understand every ones roles and responsibilities in order to appreciate what everyone does

Mimic the best brands on costumer satisfaction strategies (Carmine Gallo 2016). Leaders must convey

their duties by going to their work areas and helping with their medical task in order to take care of the
patients needs. Effective communication is an essential key component in effective and successful
health care leadership. The medical practice must train all employees to communicate effective in
writing and verbally so there is no misunderstandings between patient and health care provider. Lastly,
a great health care leader must be able to inspire confidence with exceptional bedside manner that

Similarities Between Hinduism And Buddhism
Learning about both Hinduism and Buddhism, particularly about the art and architecture of both
cultures made me realize they are not that different as I thought first. Both cultures are beautiful and
rich, and if someone takes a deeper look can see that they are depending on each other. Many people
forget that Buddha was born into a Hindu society, and his views and beliefs which led to a brand new
culture are based on Hinduism. Of course I am not saying the two are the same because that wouldn t
make any sense. However, the similarities are visible, just the way differences are visible too, and
these things make both cultures so amazing. First I would like to point out some of the similarities and
differences between Hindu and Buddhist faiths which I think are important to understand their art.
Both religions put karma and reincarnation into the center of believes. Both religions believe in
several spiritual practices in attempts to get beyond the thinking mind and into a state of relaxation
and awareness. However, they do not share their gods, in Hinduism they share their religion with
many gods and goddesses, and in Buddhism there is no god, Buddha himself was a leader. Knowing
the two cultures basic views and believes it is easier to compare their art and architecture, since mostly
they are based on the religions.
The first similarity which I think is very oblivious is the stupa. Stupas are present in both cultures and
the base for the temples in Hinduism and Buddhism

Patriot Athletic Club History
The Detriot Athletic Club known as the DAC for short is located in the entertainment district of
Detroit. Detroit has named two clubs since its birth. The original club was built for men who enjoy
watching and participating in sport events. Sports such as track and field, baseball, basketball,
football, bowling, cricket, and large wheeled bicycle racing took place at the DAC. The first club
began to go downward because it did not offer many social events for members to enjoy. Then became
the build of the DAC known today that has been roaring since. Today those social events, parties,

The DAC is located on Madison Street in the heart of Detroit. The founders of the DAC went to
Albert Kahn to be the architect. Twenty two bidders nationwide bided on this project. The board
members wanted the project to be all Detroit from start to finish, even if that meant going higher than
the lowest bidder. The contract was awarded to Vinton Company of Detroit for over $600,000. Over
forty subcontractors and supplier companies joined in on the project. Kahn was a successful architect
of the automobile companies of the city of Detroit. His ideas are inspired from Italian Renaissance
palaces in Florence, Italy. They chose Kahn because he had a plan of open interiors and the use of
reinforced concrete, and exterior of brick and stone. It took him months to design the layout of the
building which ended up being six floors plus two mezzanine levels. The project required 1,350 tons
of structural frame steelwork. The main entrance was to be off Madison Street. The face of the
building was set to be made of Bedford limestone. When you walked through the main doors you

with large panels of American Walnut and a fireplace made of Hauteville marble, and the floors with
Tennessee marble. The third level offered a modern Turkish bath

Short Term Life Insurance
Have you been considering getting some term life insurance? Discovering cheap term life insurance
quotes can be simple as 1 2 3. You essentially need a touch of information about the amount of
coverage you are searching for and you will be well on your way. It was initially created to provide
brief life insurance protection on a restricted budget. Since term life insurance can be obtained in
substantial amounts for a genuinely little premium, it is suited for short go goals, for example, life
insurance coverage to pay off a credit, or to provide additional life insurance protection amid the tyke

Lasting life insurance or as it is now and then called, entire life insurance is intended for long haul
protection for your gang. This arrangement provides coverage for your whole lifetime the length of

Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola Essay
At a time when humanist thinkers occupied themselves with determining man s position in the world,
Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, in the 15th century Oration on the Dignity of Man, asserted that man
is master of both his dignity and destiny, and there was no limit to what scientists may achieve as long
as they glorify God in the end. World history teaches that, though scientists might begin research with
the intent of glorifying God , the rush to advance in science and technology and the fever to uncover
the wonders of nature result in hubris and the abandonment of God and the subsequent exaltation of
human beings God like properties. Scientists throughout the centuries have held differing opinions
about the limits humans should impose on science: whereas Pico della Mirandola believed science
was to be used for the glorification of God, but never for the imposition of man on God s will; Sir
Francis Bacon, writing 150 years later, believed that any scientific experimentation or means which
justified the end goal of human perfection were acceptable, even if they interfered with God s
creations. In the 21st century, ethicists and scientists from around the world propose that science
should be allowed to continue with broad moral checks; science is not inherently good or ... Show

Correlation Between Money Supply And Price Level For...
Darrat (1986) used the procedure recommended by Sargent (1976) to test the direction of causality
between money supply and price level for Morocco, Tunisia and Libya for the period from 1960Q1 to
1980Q2. This study found the unidirectional causality running from narrow money supply to price
level, which supported Monetarists view that money mattered price level. However, Parikh and
Starmer (1988) have explored the relationship between money supply and price level in Bangladesh
using the monthly data during the period 1973 1986 and found the unidirectional feedback running
from price to money. In this study, the strict exogeneity of money supply is rejected. The results of this
study has denied the Monetarists view but supports Structuralists view.
Similarly, the study of Ramchandran and Kamaiah (1992) has also noticed the uni directional causality
running from money supply to price level for the economy of India as in case of Darrat (1986). On the
other hand, the study of Aghevli and Khan (1978) for Brazil, Columbia, the Dominican Republic, and
Thailand, has found bidirectional causality between money and prices. Likewise, Maish and Maish
(1994) examined the question of causality between money and price in the context of Asian
developing economy, India. This study supported monetarists view that money supply was leading
variable and price was lagging variable in the context of India when they studied the linkage between
money supply and price during the period

Symbolism in the Red Convertible Essay
Symbolism of the Color Red in the Red Convertible
The Red Convertible by Louise Erdrich is more than an emotional story about the lives of two
brothers who grew up together on an Indian reservation. She uses a writing style that allows the reader
to understand the text, while providing the opportunity to read into the story. Erdrich uses metaphors,
symbols, imagery to describe and define the brothers Henry and Lyman s relationship.
The two brothers purchased the red convertible together. The purchase defined their relationship and
sense of adventure. The red coloration of the vehicle represents blood the ultimate link of brotherhood.

394). The second connection is found with the color red in the story are the American ideas of the
negative things found in association with it. These things included blood, aggression, danger and war.
These negative associations are connected with Henry throughout the story. When he returns home
from war, Lyman says once I was in the room watching TV with Henry, I looked over, and he d bitten
through his lip. Blood was going down his chin . This depiction is important because not only does it
show Henry s misdirected aggression, but again uses red. There was still blood going down Henry s
chin, but he didn t notice , in this we see how a color once associated with the car that made Henry so
happy, has become a body fluid going unnoticed (p. 396).
In the end, the brothers appear to have a dispute over the car because Henry again wants Lyman to
have it. Henry tells Lyman to take good care of it. Henry then walks into the river and drowns. Lyman
unsuccessfully attempts to rescue Henry. He lets the car go into the river to be with his brother.
The symbolism of the red convertible is the main metaphor for brotherhood theme in this story and
focused on their connection to each other with the care; however, the color of red throughout provides
a much more profound meaning. Edrich wants readers of all backgrounds to find some relationship
with the color red. If any other color was used for the car, there might not be a deeper

Essay about American Airlines Competitive Strategy
Evaluate American s 1992 announcement of a new rate structure:
a. What changes did American make?
American Airlines (American) made four fundamental changes to its rates. First, it moved to a four
tier rate structure; American offered first class rates and three tiers of coach: full fare, 21 day advance
purchase and 7 day advance purchase. Overall, it expected to reduce coach fares by 38% and first
class fares by 20% to 50%. Though full fare coach prices dropped by about 38%, advance purchase
fares dropped by 6% when compared to the advance purchase tickets already being offered. Through
this fare structure, American also eliminated deep discount tickets. Second, American eliminated the
negotiated discount contracts of many large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Travel agents therefore are both positively and negatively impacted. Small business customers are
positively impacted by the fare changes. Previously, the higher full fare prices discouraged small
business travel; small businesses would either decide against travel or incur the cost of a Saturday
night stay and purchase a reduced fare ticket. By reducing the full coach fares, small businesses will
be able to purchase more convenient flights at more economical prices. Large businesses, on the other
hand, may be negatively impacted. Since many large businesses had negotiated discount rate contracts
with airlines, the new full coach fare may be higher than these negotiated fares. For large businesses
that did not have negotiated contracts, the fares will be lower than the previous full fare rate.
Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have more
flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday night stay
discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found loop holes in the old fare system by
using creative ticketing and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher rates
because the deep discounts will no longer be offered.
c. Why did each of American s competitors react to the fare changes the way they did?
Continental, Northwest and United Airlines intended to adopt part of the new fare system. Continental,
because it is in Chapter

The Search for Enlightenment Essay
The Search for Enlightenment
Nature, I think we can deduce, refers not only to animals, plants, and mountains, but rather to the
universe as a whole the entirety of the physical universe ranging from human nature to quantum
nature while also including, plants, animals, and mountains as part of this greater whole. It has been
the search for knowledge and truths of the wonders and mysteries of nature, or rather the universe (in
other words science) that has, over the past few years been the underlying motivation in my life. Not
only do I find the search for knowledge exciting and intellectually stimulating, but I have found that
this motivation gives meaning or rather a direction to my life. I don t wish to imply that science and ...

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of science and one that I disagree with. Instead
my drive for competency has made science seem attractive, not because it tries to replace God and
metaphysical ideology, but rather that it explains the universe without having to rely on untestable
assumptions (which we can t know to be true) about how the universe should or would make sense to
be. As I believe that there is no God or transcendental explanation for life or the cosmos, I aspire to
understand human behavior, not in terms of metaphysical and transcendental explanations, but rather
in an empirical approach based on logic, reason, and the consiliecnce (Wilson 1998, p.8) of the
sciences and knowledge.
Yet, my innate desire for competence leads to another important motivation that affects my being, that
is the quest for authenticism. To be authentic, I refer to being original, honest about my thoughts to
myself and others; aware and skeptical of the motivation and assumptions of culture and society;
attempting to recognize and dissect assumptions of my creation and that of culture and societies; being
able to relate to others; and finally, being hyper conscious of myself. By hyper conscious, I refer to the
state of consciousness deeper than that of awareness of one s existence, that being the awareness of
one s motivations the constant introspection, thought, and questioning of one s actions and

The Problem Of Sorcery And Witchcraft Essay
In the chapter The Problem of Sorcery and Witchcraft in the Age of Reformation, the section John
Calvin: Witchcraft and the Reformation discusses what is considered witchcraft, and why it is. In his
Sermon of Deuteronomy, John Calvin does this by distinguishing the roles of Enchanters, Sorcerers,
Calkers, workers with Familiars, and of such as ask counsel of the dead, within context of both old
and new testaments and the church reformation. In doing so, Calvin maintains the concept of
surrendering a soul to the devil in accordance to the continuing belief of witchcraft. In relation to other
documents within the chapter, the overall concept referring to an intensifying fear of witchcraft is
based on theological events in sixteenth century Europe during the church reformation. The document
by Calvin provides one of three viewpoints regarding witchcraft during this era; the three viewpoints
being Protestant, Catholic, or the notion that witchcraft in general is not real. However, despite the
differences of opinion, all sides seem to agree on the concept that witchcraft in general is not good.
In this particular document of the chapter, John Calvin, taking the protestant approach, describes the
concept of witchcraft as a pact between the devil and a witch; the witch being someone who practices
things such as enchantments, sorcery, speaking with the dead, etc. This relationship between the devil
and the witch is a direct result of what Calvin describes as:

How Did Emma Goldman Effect Change
The most violent element in society is ignorance. These words by Emma Goldman express how

Emma had one failed assassination, trying to kill Henry Clay Frick, but was also charged for the

The PHOX2B gene encodes a transcription factor that is crucial for the early steps of the autonomous
nervous system development, and its mutations are responsible for the autosomal dominant Congenital
Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS). The functional role of PHOX2B is to control important
differentiation steps such as the differentiation of neuroblastoma cells into chromaffin cells and
neuronal cells. Chromaffin cells function to produce high levels of (nor)adrenalin for secretion into the
circulation. However, in neuroblastoma pathogenesis through missense and frameshift mutations
occurring in the PHOX2B gene, the interaction of the PHOX2B protein with the calcium sensor
HPCAL1 is compromised and unusual expression and arrest of the normal maturation of the
sympathetic neurons can occur, leading to immature cells. They are also therefore resistant to drug
induced differentiation and may also be susceptible to secondary transforming events, such as the
amplification of MYCN. Therefore, PHOX2b can be said to act as an oncogene in the very early stage
of the disease. Moreover, (reference) has demonstrated that PHOX2B is a transcriptional regulator of
the ALK gene, implying that overexpression in neuroblastoma could be dependent on the deregulation
of the PHOX2B gene. Cheung et al. 2012, used whole genome sequencing to identify that mutations

The Conseption Of Powingder In The Movie Powder And You Re...
Xenophobia came from the Greek word xenos which means a foreigner. According to Healthtopia,
Xenophobia is the condition where the person feels threatened and terror when confronted by a person
with a different background. The movie Powder and You Re Not Alone are example of why we are
afraid of strangers. Not all strangers are bad people. Some strangers you have to look out for and
others could be really good people.
Powder is an albino teenage boy who is very intelligent and was shunned after the death of his last
relative. People started judging and criticizing powder, not even knowing who he was, what he looked
like, or the type of person he was. The special abilities that he had made him an outcast. In the
readings it says, The stranger in town becomes shrouded with suspension. Every action is scrutinized.
Every inaction is a sign of guilt. The writer s argument is, don t judge a book by its cover.
After the death of one of his grandparents, he is discovered and sent to state home where he has
trouble fitting in. His unusual appearance and abilities caused the people in the town to mock and fear
him. Sheriff Barnum s wife, Emma is sick and in a coma and sheriff is unsure of what he should to
help her. Jessie asks Powder to pay Emma a visit to see if he could help. He touches Emma and shares
her thoughts with the sheriff. It becomes clear to Powder that he will fit in with the others, so he runs
away and goes back home. Had they not judged him, they would be able to see the good and potential
in him. The writer/director wants the audience to think that our judgements and criticism shields us
from seeing the good and beauty in someone or something. His point is that we only perceive what is
in front of us. We as people are afraid of strangers because we taught to. The word stranger has a
series of definitions. According to Dictionary.com, A stranger can be a person with whom one has had
no acquaintance, a newcomer in a place or locality. An outsider, or a person who is not a member of
the family, group, community, or a visitor.
The Intended audience seems to be Adults, or anyone into fantasy and mystery movies. The writer s
purpose in writing the film is to persuade or convince the audience to

In recent years, many businesses have faced an increasingly uncertain future. As a result, there is an
economic imperative to gain advantage over their competitors (Bakos Treacy, 1986). A competitive
advantage is attained when a firm reaches its comparative efficiency or bargaining power (Bakos and

lower cost level. This will enable it to differentiate from its competitors and to analyse other markets
and market sectors it may wish to enter into (Porter, 1980; Porter and Millar, 1985). Using information
systems can potentially raise barriers to entry for new firms who will not have the technology that an
established firm will or, or not have the capital to fund such a system. It can also create ways in which
clients will depend on your business, be able to offer new and idiosyncratic goods and services and
creating business opportunities (Bott et al., 1986, Porter and Millar, 1979).
Information systems providing competitive advantage can be displayed in the retail business. With
high street businesses, rent and wages must be paid. These companies will also have distribution
centres. With online retailers, they only have a distribution centre and due to the internet can have
customers worldwide. The reduced expenses means they can offer lower prices in a price driven
market. As a result, the demise of high street

A Study On Presence Centered Youth Ministry
In reading a book it is typical to make notes and highlight passages. However, with Mike King s
Presence Centered Youth Ministry, what started with highlighters, turned to pencil, then sticky notes.
Finally, read now and then read again later became the mantra. It is infrequently that books resonate
with our own theology and our own transformational journeys, but that is the situation with Presence
Centered Youth Ministry.
Thesis for Presence Centered Youth Ministry One must really dig into the book to get to the thesis.
That is not to say the introduction and the entire first chapter is ineffective, quite the opposite is true. It
is necessary to understand the context and transformation of King s life in order to appreciate the
thesis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King recounts his transition from youth to youth pastor in a conservative setting with a pharisaic
leaning. The real beauty is the ability to use this background and rely on the Spirit, scripture and
tradition to inform the remainder of his theology.
Author s Credentials
King uses Presence Centered Youth Ministry as a teaching tool. Beginning with the current setting, he
then identifies the traits of a spiritual leader, practices that invite the presence of the Spirit into
ministry, scripture, prayer, and a rule of life as means for meeting God. Each of the seven chapters
provides sound reasoning and scriptural support which is truly rooted in Christ. Furthermore, King has
thirty years of ministry experience as well as holding positions within the area of youth ministry at a
national level.
Author s Arguments
King s primary argument is that of the current decline of mainline denominational catechesis,
particularly youth through several factors identified by Hart in Deconstructing Evangelicalism (Pg.
30). These factors include Succession, Lack of Tradition, Age Segregation, and Decisionism (Pg. 30,
32, 33, 35). The cumulative effect of these factors is the loss of a consistent catechesis and formation
strategy. Our youth, King provides, are prepared and able to handle a variety of complex practices for
discipleship that

Literary Analysis Of Contents Of A Dead Man s Pocket
Is money more important than family? Many families are broken because a somewhat loving guardian
is so obsessed with work, or better yet, the money. From long, distress filled tears to painful mornings
and nights (and everything in between), this situation unfortunately faces thousands of kids daily.
People with jobs and families should be against choosing their job over family because it allows for a
closer bond to form, more family time, and everlasting love for eachother. The story Contents of a
Dead Man s Pocket and the TED Talk Can we all have it all? featuring Anne Marie Slaughter will be
represented in this essay.
This topic is perfectly explained in the short story, Contents of a Dead Man s Pocket . The setting
takes place during the mid 1950 s, when expectations were quite strict and freedom was still rather
restricted. Freedom was restrained because this is around the time in which Civil Rights Movement
started and expectations were strict because everyone was expected to follow and obey the rules that
society has created. As demonstrated in the story, Tom Benecke stays in his apartment and attempts to
complete his month long project (which will help him earn a raise) instead of going to enjoy a film
with his wife, Clare. Clare seems upset and goes on without Tom. As the story goes on, Tom s paper
flies out of the window and he goes on a wild and life threatening adventure to get his paper. Long
story short, if he had made the decision to go and

Rocking Horse Winner
Being loved and cared for is what most people have grown up to know. Rocking Horse Winner by DH
Lawrence is about a little boy who wants to make his mother happy. Lawrence uses money, the house,
and the rocking horse as symbols to convey the theme that greed destroys happiness. To start off,
money symbolises happiness for a person. In the story it is said, There must be more money! There
must be more money! to make it be known that they need more money constantly. It also tries to say
that luck is all you need and that it is better to be born lucky than rich . If you re rich you may lose
your money. But if you re lucky you ll always get more money (Gillett). The luck will always be with
you. The story breaks down to the ones who think puts love with money and luck with happiness .
Paul s mom thinks that money will make her happy though it has not yet. Paul, who learns from his
mother to associate love with money, represents the desperate search for values in a cash culture. The
force of Lawrence s satire is directed at a society that is dominated by a quest for cash, and at those
who buy into the deadly equation of love equals money (Piedmont Marton). When he felt that he
made his mother happy, his life finished. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

s house, a voice would start whispering: There must be more money! There must be more money!
This gives an example of the whispers or social status of how they would like the world to think they
have more money when they really need it. It also repositions the cosmic secrets the Woman discovers

Ww1 Austria-Hungary Research Paper
This essay will attempt to answer the question To what extent is Austria Hungary at fault for causing
the start of World War One? This topic is significant due to the ongoing debate about how WWI
started and because of the debt some countries only recently, have paid off. In 1914, the country to
declare the first war was Austria Hungary s(AH) declaration of war on Serbia. Following this was
Serbia s ally, Russia, who mobilized its troops in preparation, and Germany soon after declaring war
on the russians. As the snowball effect came into place, countries such as France, the United Kingdom
and Belgium followed in declaring different wars amongst each other. This resulted in the start of
World War I. It began in 1914 one of the greatest wars in all of history, ending almost five years after
in November of 1918. The causes of WWI, will continuously spark debates between people, as there
were so many countries involved. This essay will argue that Austria Hungary is mostly to blame for
inducing the beginning of the First World War. Evidence of this appears when looking at crises such as

Thus, Austria s imperialistic aims had become to diminish Serbia s power for the benefit of expanding
their own empire. An example of how they went about this was the Balkan Crisis. The Balkan Crisis
involved countries that wanted to increase their size into more land area. An issue that Austria
Hungary dealt with was that as they expanded the empire struggled with keeping the different ethnic
groups together. A way of distracting from these internal conflicts, was to go to war. The imperialistic
ideas of Austria Hungary contributed to their declaration of war because of their fight for pride. For
the longest time, Austria Hungary and Serbia fought over land and power. For this reason, Austria
Hungary was quick to declare war on Serbia to finally settle the debate of

Enlightened Philosophers (John Locke, Baron de...
John Locke, Baron de Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Jean Jacques Rousseau were all enlightenment
philosophers. Each of these men had a particular view of government, society, and its citizens and they
were all passionate about their works. Locke (1632 1704) was an English philosopher, his ideas had a
great impact on the development of political philosophy and he is widely regarded as one of the most
influential enlightenment thinkers. Montesquieu (1689 1755) believed that all things were made up of
laws that never changed. His most famous work, The Spirit of Laws, outlined his ideas on how
government would work best. Voltaire (1694 1778) was a poet, an essayist, playwright, historian, and

People always abuse their powers. No matter how small the amount they have, they will push their
credibility to the edge. Constant experience shows us that every man invested with power is apt to
abuse it and carry it as far as it will go. (The Spirit of Laws) . As the renaissance came around,
Montesquieu would definitely not have had such a bad opinion of man. As previously mentioned, the
renaissance was a time for prosperity and there was a focus on humanism. Montesquieu believed that
men will abuse any power that they are given but during the renaissance, people were much different.
As for the Protestant Reformation, Montesquieu would probably feel the same way as his original
philosophy. Nobody liked each other during the Protestant Reformation but the liked the government/
churches even less. There s no doubt that people would abuse their power and the government should
be split in 3 sections. However, during the Scientific Revolution, Montesquieu would feel the same
about the people and probably would view the government the same way. During the Scientific
Revolution, people were recovering from the Protestant Reformation but it was the abuse of power
that put them there in the first place and they needed a stable government.
Jean Jacques Rousseau was similar to Locke in his belief of a government. Rousseau believes that
government is necessary for

As A Kinesthetic Learner
Faith Onyilimba
Learning Style and Strategy As a kinesthetic learner, learning is based on physical activities instead of
sitting and listening to lectures. Hands on method of learning are more efficient for a kinesthetic
learner; they prefer to use their body and sense of touch in tackling a problem instead of reading
through the instructions (Vark, 2014). Kinesthetic learners are also known as doers. They rather start
doing an activity instead of thinking about initiating an action. They are usually very sensitive to their
physical environment; they pay good attention to their physical environment and communicate with

A cool, fall, light, Oklahoma breeze blows through the trees. The sound of rustling leaves, and the
cheerful chatter of my friends, fills my ears. My rainbow colored hoodie is wrapped around me.
People canoeing on the lake call my name, Graeson! They say, I smile and wave in their direction. I
wonder if they can see me from my spot behind the trees and poles. All of the sudden the person in
front of me in line steps up to the ladder. One of the people working at New Life Ranch tightens the
helmet on the kid s head. Then they attach a metal cable to his harness attached with a metal buckle.

The monster stayed in my throat, but now, as I am getting buckled in and a helmet clamped on my

My fear of heights hasn t bothered me and this far in 12 years of life it really hasn t, but now it does. I

Usually I put my foot up against the rollercoaster car or the seat in front of me to give me leverage.
Not today, today there are no seats, just a cord. Keeping my attached and kept safe, not to be safe, but

I continued to take each dreadful step up the ladder closer to behind pulled. One of the helpers from

Evil And Evil In East Of Eden By John Steinbeck
Everyone possess those evil and selfish actions, the biggest are maybe closing the mouth, ears, and
eyes to what is going around, and instead stay self preserved. Is the world an image of how sinful one
can be? Or does it lay within your actions. In the novel East of Eden by John Steinbeck, Cal pursues to
understand and live his life with his loved brother Aaron, dad Adam, missing whore mom Kate, and
his trustful servant Lee. He lives in a life where his actions are defined from his ancestors, and allows
his descents to drown out his uniqueness. Lee s pure perspective of humanity along with his parental
care, and companionship with Cal allow him to educate Cal about the choice between good and evil.
The decision of every human being not only shows the evil or good of a person or the world, but will
determine the flourish or destruction of the world and humanity. Lee s ability to view humanity as an
outsider, and be a moral and spiritual figure for Cal and humanity. After meeting Samuel for the first
time, the two discuss their ethnic background as well as their belonging to the white as Lee answered
that to the so called whites [he] was still a Chinese, but an untrustworthy one; and at the same time
[his] Chinese friends steered clear of [him]. [he]] had to give it up (Steinbeck 164). Throughout the
story Lee is the symbolic figure of God. His inability to be viewed as part of any of his ethnic

Obliteration As An Elements Of A Film Genre
Genre in a sense is a way of identifying and categorizing creations in media. It is also an important
factor in the film industry to both the producers and audiences. Genre, to a producer sets the
guidelines as to what can and cannot happens during a film, unless, they are trying to convey a
message or going for a hybrid genre. To the film audience, genre is important because it will quickly
enable them to attach to the film. Since they are already familiar to with the setting of the story. Not
only that but genre also help the audience to find films which they may be interesting in, as their
premises are similar. Genre is basically a formula to success to the film creators and a way of drawing

Skin Colorism In America
Skin color in America is a precursor to how minorities are treated. This concept of what is considered

White colorism is something to be acknowledged. Colorism is a part of racism and without addressing
the issue, individuals underestimate the impact of racism. Persons during that era who displayed more

Cholly s love for Pecola even though he raped her, and the narrator provides Cholly s story to

chest, along with the salve, and when the flannel came undone in my sleep, the clear, sharp curves of
air outlined its presence in my throat (Morrison 12). This passage is poetic in that it uses long

in 2013.
Fatima Bhutto was born in Kabul, grew up in Damascus, and lives in Karachi. She is a member of one
of the most famous families in Pakistan, Bhutto family a family that has produced two prime
ministers, her aunt Benazir Bhutto and her grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. In her debut novel she
talks about Pakistan s socio political issues. She doesn t only talk about the politics but has much more
to tell about the families relationships and all that stuff we are involved in. Mainly novel highlights the
issues like: war on terror its effects, Sunni s violence over Shia muslims the insurgency of tribal men.

Pakistan is a country that demands a sacrifice from its people. ... And I don t know if that s specific to
Pakistan. I think any violent place demands a certain amount of sacrifice from its people. (Fatima
Bhutto)
Bhutto s novel is not just a portrait of Pakistan s dark days wrought by fundamentalism war on terror
but it also serves as a window of Pakistan s bright side. In the scenes set in markets, bazaars, dining
tables funerals we glimpse the Pakistani culture so vividly especially of Pakistani foods that we re
compelled to admire Bhutto s affectionate depiction of her homeland. Moreover her use of Pashto
Urdu words in novel shows her understanding affection with all the regions.
The Shadow of the Crescent Moon is a disturbing but very readable book that tells the story of Kings
(military political officials) Fakirs (people of FATA). Love hates, sincerity betrayal, loyalty treachery,
bloodshed peace, are at the heart of this very book. Though this is the imperfect but a worth reading
book which I highly recommend, because give the actual situation of the FATA, is a very daring work.

  • 2. Grendel And Unferth Relationship Grendel and Unferth have a pretty interesting relationship in the book Grendel. Grendel is a monster that at first did not really understand what being a monster was all about. After one of the biggest turning points in the book, when he finally meets the dragon that changes his view, Grendel begins to see himself for who he really is and shows it with his actions throughout the rest of the novel. Grendel, unlike Unferth, is immortal, which is why their relationship is interesting since Unferth fights Grendel to be immortal (in a sense of his legacy). In Grendel, Unferth is the perfect hero to his civilization, the perfect body, bravery and strength. He knows that everyone looks up to him, so Unferth decides to make his legacy last until the ... Starting your own business is a risk you have to believe in yourself and be will to take the risk even when things don t seem to be perfect. There are two options if you fall on your face you can either learn from it and try again not making the same mistakes or give up. • 5. Similarities Between Hinduism And Buddhism Learning about both Hinduism and Buddhism, particularly about the art and architecture of both cultures made me realize they are not that different as I thought first. Both cultures are beautiful and rich, and if someone takes a deeper look can see that they are depending on each other. Many people forget that Buddha was born into a Hindu society, and his views and beliefs which led to a brand new culture are based on Hinduism. Of course I am not saying the two are the same because that wouldn t make any sense. However, the similarities are visible, just the way differences are visible too, and these things make both cultures so amazing. First I would like to point out some of the similarities and differences between Hindu and Buddhist faiths which I think are important to understand their art. Both religions put karma and reincarnation into the center of believes. Both religions believe in several spiritual practices in attempts to get beyond the thinking mind and into a state of relaxation and awareness. However, they do not share their gods, in Hinduism they share their religion with many gods and goddesses, and in Buddhism there is no god, Buddha himself was a leader. Knowing the two cultures basic views and believes it is easier to compare their art and architecture, since mostly they are based on the religions. The first similarity which I think is very oblivious is the stupa. Stupas are present in both cultures and the base for the temples in Hinduism and Buddhism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The founders of the DAC went to Albert Kahn to be the architect. Twenty two bidders nationwide bided on this project. The board members wanted the project to be all Detroit from start to finish, even if that meant going higher than the lowest bidder. The contract was awarded to Vinton Company of Detroit for over $600,000. Over forty subcontractors and supplier companies joined in on the project. Kahn was a successful architect of the automobile companies of the city of Detroit. His ideas are inspired from Italian Renaissance palaces in Florence, Italy. They chose Kahn because he had a plan of open interiors and the use of reinforced concrete, and exterior of brick and stone. It took him months to design the layout of the building which ended up being six floors plus two mezzanine levels. The project required 1,350 tons of structural frame steelwork. The main entrance was to be off Madison Street. The face of the building was set to be made of Bedford limestone. • 8. Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola Essay At a time when humanist thinkers occupied themselves with determining man s position in the world, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, in the 15th century Oration on the Dignity of Man, asserted that man is master of both his dignity and destiny, and there was no limit to what scientists may achieve as long as they glorify God in the end. World history teaches that, though scientists might begin research with the intent of glorifying God , the rush to advance in science and technology and the fever to uncover the wonders of nature result in hubris and the abandonment of God and the subsequent exaltation of human beings God like properties. Scientists throughout the centuries have held differing opinions about the limits humans should impose on science: whereas Pico della Mirandola believed science was to be used for the glorification of God, but never for the imposition of man on God s will; Sir Francis Bacon, writing 150 years later, believed that any scientific experimentation or means which justified the end goal of human perfection were acceptable, even if they interfered with God s creations. Darrat (1986) used the procedure recommended by Sargent (1976) to test the direction of causality between money supply and price level for Morocco, Tunisia and Libya for the period from 1960Q1 to 1980Q2. This study found the unidirectional causality running from narrow money supply to price level, which supported Monetarists view that money mattered price level. However, Parikh and Starmer (1988) have explored the relationship between money supply and price level in Bangladesh using the monthly data during the period 1973 1986 and found the unidirectional feedback running from price to money. In this study, the strict exogeneity of money supply is rejected. The results of this study has denied the Monetarists view but supports Structuralists view. Similarly, the study of Ramchandran and Kamaiah (1992) has also noticed the uni directional causality running from money supply to price level for the economy of India as in case of Darrat (1986). On the other hand, the study of Aghevli and Khan (1978) for Brazil, Columbia, the Dominican Republic, and Thailand, has found bidirectional causality between money and prices. Likewise, Maish and Maish (1994) examined the question of causality between money and price in the context of Asian developing economy, India. • 10. Symbolism in the Red Convertible Essay Symbolism of the Color Red in the Red Convertible The Red Convertible by Louise Erdrich is more than an emotional story about the lives of two brothers who grew up together on an Indian reservation. She uses a writing style that allows the reader to understand the text, while providing the opportunity to read into the story. Erdrich uses metaphors, symbols, imagery to describe and define the brothers Henry and Lyman s relationship. The two brothers purchased the red convertible together. The purchase defined their relationship and sense of adventure. The red coloration of the vehicle represents blood the ultimate link of brotherhood. The second connection is found with the color red in the story are the American ideas of the negative things found in association with it. These things included blood, aggression, danger and war. These negative associations are connected with Henry throughout the story. When he returns home from war, Lyman says once I was in the room watching TV with Henry, I looked over, and he d bitten through his lip. Blood was going down his chin . This depiction is important because not only does it show Henry s misdirected aggression, but again uses red. There was still blood going down Henry s chin, but he didn t notice , in this we see how a color once associated with the car that made Henry so happy, has become a body fluid going unnoticed (p. 396). In the end, the brothers appear to have a dispute over the car because Henry again wants Lyman to have it. Henry tells Lyman to take good care of it. Henry then walks into the river and drowns. Lyman unsuccessfully attempts to rescue Henry. He lets the car go into the river to be with his brother. The symbolism of the red convertible is the main metaphor for brotherhood theme in this story and focused on their connection to each other with the care; however, the color of red throughout provides a much more profound meaning. • 11. Essay about American Airlines Competitive Strategy Evaluate American s 1992 announcement of a new rate structure: a. What changes did American make? American Airlines (American) made four fundamental changes to its rates. First, it moved to a four tier rate structure; American offered first class rates and three tiers of coach: full fare, 21 day advance purchase and 7 day advance purchase. Overall, it expected to reduce coach fares by 38% and first class fares by 20% to 50%. Though full fare coach prices dropped by about 38%, advance purchase fares dropped by 6% when compared to the advance purchase tickets already being offered. Through this fare structure, American also eliminated deep discount tickets. Second, American eliminated the negotiated discount contracts of many large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Travel agents therefore are both positively and negatively impacted. Small business customers are positively impacted by the fare changes. Previously, the higher full fare prices discouraged small business travel; small businesses would either decide against travel or incur the cost of a Saturday night stay and purchase a reduced fare ticket. By reducing the full coach fares, small businesses will be able to purchase more convenient flights at more economical prices. Large businesses, on the other hand, may be negatively impacted. Since many large businesses had negotiated discount rate contracts with airlines, the new full coach fare may be higher than these negotiated fares. For large businesses that did not have negotiated contracts, the fares will be lower than the previous full fare rate. Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have more flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday night stay discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found loop holes in the old fare system by using creative ticketing and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher rates because the deep discounts will no longer be offered. c. Why did each of American s competitors react to the fare changes the way they did? The Search for Enlightenment Essay The Search for Enlightenment Nature, I think we can deduce, refers not only to animals, plants, and mountains, but rather to the universe as a whole the entirety of the physical universe ranging from human nature to quantum nature while also including, plants, animals, and mountains as part of this greater whole. It has been the search for knowledge and truths of the wonders and mysteries of nature, or rather the universe (in other words science) that has, over the past few years been the underlying motivation in my life. As I believe that there is no God or transcendental explanation for life or the cosmos, I aspire to understand human behavior, not in terms of metaphysical and transcendental explanations, but rather in an empirical approach based on logic, reason, and the consiliecnce (Wilson 1998, p.8) of the sciences and knowledge. Yet, my innate desire for competence leads to another important motivation that affects my being, that is the quest for authenticism. To be authentic, I refer to being original, honest about my thoughts to myself and others; aware and skeptical of the motivation and assumptions of culture and society; attempting to recognize and dissect assumptions of my creation and that of culture and societies; being able to relate to others; and finally, being hyper conscious of myself. By hyper conscious, I refer to the state of consciousness deeper than that of awareness of one s existence, that being the awareness of one s motivations the constant introspection, thought, and questioning of one s actions and ... • 13. The Problem Of Sorcery And Witchcraft Essay In the chapter The Problem of Sorcery and Witchcraft in the Age of Reformation, the section John Calvin: Witchcraft and the Reformation discusses what is considered witchcraft, and why it is. In his Sermon of Deuteronomy, John Calvin does this by distinguishing the roles of Enchanters, Sorcerers, Calkers, workers with Familiars, and of such as ask counsel of the dead, within context of both old and new testaments and the church reformation. In doing so, Calvin maintains the concept of surrendering a soul to the devil in accordance to the continuing belief of witchcraft. In relation to other documents within the chapter, the overall concept referring to an intensifying fear of witchcraft is based on theological events in sixteenth century Europe during the church reformation. The document by Calvin provides one of three viewpoints regarding witchcraft during this era; the three viewpoints being Protestant, Catholic, or the notion that witchcraft in general is not real. However, despite the differences of opinion, all sides seem to agree on the concept that witchcraft in general is not good. In this particular document of the chapter, John Calvin, taking the protestant approach, describes the concept of witchcraft as a pact between the devil and a witch; the witch being someone who practices things such as enchantments, sorcery, speaking with the dead, etc. This relationship between the devil and the witch is a direct result of what Calvin describes as: Satan s ... The PHOX2B gene encodes a transcription factor that is crucial for the early steps of the autonomous nervous system development, and its mutations are responsible for the autosomal dominant Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS). The functional role of PHOX2B is to control important differentiation steps such as the differentiation of neuroblastoma cells into chromaffin cells and neuronal cells. Chromaffin cells function to produce high levels of (nor)adrenalin for secretion into the circulation. However, in neuroblastoma pathogenesis through missense and frameshift mutations occurring in the PHOX2B gene, the interaction of the PHOX2B protein with the calcium sensor HPCAL1 is compromised and unusual expression and arrest of the normal maturation of the sympathetic neurons can occur, leading to immature cells. They are also therefore resistant to drug induced differentiation and may also be susceptible to secondary transforming events, such as the amplification of MYCN. Therefore, PHOX2b can be said to act as an oncogene in the very early stage of the disease. Moreover, (reference) has demonstrated that PHOX2B is a transcriptional regulator of the ALK gene, implying that overexpression in neuroblastoma could be dependent on the deregulation of the PHOX2B gene. According to Healthtopia, Xenophobia is the condition where the person feels threatened and terror when confronted by a person with a different background. The movie Powder and You Re Not Alone are example of why we are afraid of strangers. Not all strangers are bad people. Some strangers you have to look out for and others could be really good people. Powder is an albino teenage boy who is very intelligent and was shunned after the death of his last relative. People started judging and criticizing powder, not even knowing who he was, what he looked like, or the type of person he was. The special abilities that he had made him an outcast. In the readings it says, The stranger in town becomes shrouded with suspension. Every action is scrutinized. Every inaction is a sign of guilt. The writer s argument is, don t judge a book by its cover. After the death of one of his grandparents, he is discovered and sent to state home where he has trouble fitting in. His unusual appearance and abilities caused the people in the town to mock and fear him. Sheriff Barnum s wife, Emma is sick and in a coma and sheriff is unsure of what he should to help her. Jessie asks Powder to pay Emma a visit to see if he could help. He touches Emma and shares her thoughts with the sheriff. It becomes clear to Powder that he will fit in with the others, so he runs away and goes back home. Had they not judged him, they would be able to see the good and potential in him. The writer/director wants the audience to think that our judgements and criticism shields us from seeing the good and beauty in someone or something. His point is that we only perceive what is in front of us. We as people are afraid of strangers because we taught to. The word stranger has a series of definitions. According to Dictionary.com, A stranger can be a person with whom one has had no acquaintance, a newcomer in a place or locality. This will enable it to differentiate from its competitors and to analyse other markets and market sectors it may wish to enter into (Porter, 1980; Porter and Millar, 1985). Using information systems can potentially raise barriers to entry for new firms who will not have the technology that an established firm will or, or not have the capital to fund such a system. This is saying Pecola is having her father s baby, foreshadowing her rape. Personification: Cholly Breedlove is dead; our innocence too (Morrison 6). This is saying here innocence died. imagery: ...great carloads of slag being dumped, red hot and smoking, into the ravine that skirts the steel mill. The dying fire lights the sky with a dull orange glow (Morrison 10). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tone: Sympathetic, Poetic Both Claudia and the narrator show sympathy. Claudia wants to show Cholly s love for Pecola even though he raped her, and the narrator provides Cholly s story to understand why he raped her and how it fit into his life. I think any violent place demands a certain amount of sacrifice from its people. (Fatima Bhutto) Bhutto s novel is not just a portrait of Pakistan s dark days wrought by fundamentalism war on terror but it also serves as a window of Pakistan s bright side. In the scenes set in markets, bazaars, dining tables funerals we glimpse the Pakistani culture so vividly especially of Pakistani foods that we re compelled to admire Bhutto s affectionate depiction of her homeland. Moreover her use of Pashto Urdu words in novel shows her understanding affection with all the regions. The Shadow of the Crescent Moon is a disturbing but very readable book that tells the story of Kings (military political officials) Fakirs (people of FATA). Love hates, sincerity betrayal, loyalty treachery, bloodshed peace, are at the heart of this very book. Though this is the imperfect but a worth reading book which I highly recommend, because give the actual situation of the FATA, is a very daring work.
