Breaking Magenta Research Paper
Breaking Magenta Journeys throughout life are inevitable; we all grow and we all change. Nothing is
suspended in time no matter how hard we try to preserve it. Yet one individual doesn t have just one
journey. Humans are dynamic, complicated creatures. We bend, break, and mold continuously into
different components of ourselves. One of my journeys, as many as I have gone through, is self
acceptance. It began when I started 6th grade, when the anger started to settle in. I had no reason to be
angry, I didn t have a perfect sunshine life but I definitely had it better than most. All of this anger was
deep inside me, but I hadn t the slightest of ideas where it was coming from. Logically, I knew that it
was irrational and there was some hidden problem that wasn t coming to light. Until one late ... Show

letting it defeat me, I ve used it as a motivator to beat the odds, to not become another statistic,
whether it be through suicide, assault, or crippling debt and unemployment. Being transgender isn t a

Finding other queer and gender nonconforming peers really helped me secure faith in my identity and

Organizational Theory Of Planned Behavior
1. Introduction In order to accomplish this assignment, I have chosen to have one vegan day a week as
the social activity that I will maintain throughout the session. In particular, on Sunday every week, all
the food I consume is free of animal products including meat, milk, eggs, etc. The activity has been
starting since Week 2 of the session and so far I have successfully completed ten vegan days for tine
weeks respectively (from Session Week 2 to Week 10, including the mid session break week) with
different vegan dishes for each day, which are shown in the Appendix. In this reflective essay, I will
explain the reason why I choose this activity, my plan and objectives, as well as my reflection on the

As an international student living away from home by myself, I have total control on my daily diet.
Unlike when I live with my family back home and have to follow the family diet, I can eat whatever I
want here. Therefore, my perceived power toward the behaviour is high as I do not have any objective
constraint. 3. Plan and Objectives Due to the fact that this is a totally new habit which I have never
experienced before, I need a lot of time for familiarisation and preparation. Therefore, in order to keep
the progress on track, I have rearranged my weekly timetable and scheduled all the activities I need to
do before Sunday when I cook the dishes. In particular, from Monday to Thursday every week, I
actively search for vegan recipes from various sources such as my friends who are vegans or vegan
cooking tutorials online. After that, because shopping often takes plenty of time, I spend my Friday
preparing all the required ingredients as I do not have class on that day. Saturday is when I go through
all the pre cook steps such as defrosting frozen ingredients, chopping (onions, carrots, spring onions,
etc.) and seasoning. Finally, I cook and decorate the dishes on Sunday, take picture for Twitter upload
and enjoy them. The process then repeats on the next Monday. As previously stated, I expect to
maintain this activity throughout the session. Therefore, the

The Clouds by Aristophanes Essay
The Clouds by Aristophanes Relevant in Today s World
The Clouds by Aristophanes, is a play centrally concerned with education. Aristophanes employs
satire to illustrate his conservative beliefs. It is intended to show readers that in the tendency to
philosophical subtleties lies the neglection of the real needs of the Athenians. According to
Aristophanes, philosophical speculation only acts to shake the established foundations of accepted
religion, gods, and ideals of morality.
Specifically, as it was even discused in The Apology,
Aristophanes believed that philosophical attitudes held by the
Sophists enabled those who held them to convince others of wrong or weaker beliefs simply by
sounding as if they knew what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In doing some background research into why this would be, I discovered that Aristophanes religious
undertones could stem from the fact that Athenians were trying to harmonize science and religion.
When new scientific theories were starting to surface and be questioned, many people couldn t even
consider them without sounding as if they were committing treason against the state. Aristophanes
turns to religion in order to remind his audience that both religion and science have to be equally open
to questions, critique, and even in Aristophanes case, satire. This suggestion, that certain things need
to be equally suceptable to to critique and questions can also be seen through the way that
Aristophanes suggests there is both a problem with the accepted model of a well rounded education,
and the newer model brought about by such philopophers as the Sophists. Aristophanes saw the
danger in not questioning an accepted theory or belief. Despite the fact I agree with Johnson in that
Aristophanes may be a
staunch defender of old values, Aristophanes saw that if something widely accepted was left
unquestioned for too long, it would become idle. Basically, an idea that I believe should be applied

Football Games And Its Impact On College Football Essay
Introduction
Collegiate athletics have long played an integral role in higher education in the United States. The
popularity of collegiate football in America is unprecedented. The fan frenzy surrounding teams,
games, and the sport itself, is borderline barmy. Aptly described as the thrill of victory and the agony
of defeat, fan emotions in college football are rampant (Moore, B., 2010). Football programs are able
to generate a great deal of revenue through gate receipts (Groza, M. D., 2010). Football game day
attendance is also an excellent proxy for other revenues such apparel sales and concessions. The major
programs in college football play in the automatic qualifier (AQ in NCAA Football jargon)
conferences: The Southeastern Conference (SEC), PAC 10 (Pacific 10) (now PAC 12), Big 10, Big 12
and Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC). (Paul, R., Humphreys, B. R., Weinbach, A., 2012). These
five conferences are popularly referred to as the power five. Most top football programs in the power
five conferences have a huge fan following and have high game day attendance. However in the
smaller, non AQ, conferences there is a wide variation in game day attendance on a regular basis. This
is because of the quality of the teams, market characteristics, and size of the stadium (Paul, R.,
Humphreys, B. R., Weinbach, A., 2012). According to Tim Padgett and Shane Hunt, the winning
percentage may have a big influence in game day attendance, but the athletic

What Company Has Become More Successful Than Other Chinese...
How GEELY was developed and created
GEELY which is based in Zhejiang is a famous Chinese car company. However, GEELY is developing
better and better. Hence the aim of this paper is to analyse GEELY and examine why this particular
company has become more successful than other Chinese car companies.
GEELY was founded on the 6th of November in 1986. However, GEELY was started to produce
fridges. In 1994, GEELY started motorcycle manufacturing. In 1997, GEELY entered the automobile
industry. This company always changes the marketings and sells areas. It is innovation and creativity
that helped the GEELY to sell more products, make a profit and become successful. Effective
management is behind the development of this company in comparison to others. (Geely, 2014). It has
been started that Geely transform marketing and sales techniques to be successful and this will be
explored in this essay.
It depends on the marketing circumstance that GEELY company can choose what to sell and how.
There is no doubt that GEELY constantly changes their selling strategy, because it is a successful one.
Firstly, they design and make many economic cars and many cities of taxis that rise up the income.
However, as time passes, many Chinese car companies have started to produce economic cars,
GEELY has already began to make hybrid cars and electronic cars. Hence, it always leads to the other
car companies.( Geely, 2014)
Secondly, GEELY conduce the marketing plan very well. First of all, the the

Benefits Of Talent Management Programs
Introduction Talent management programs are usually designed to improve business performance and
results. Business performance is highly influenced by external factors. These factors include economic
conditions, competitors activities and government legislation. However, it s not just external factors
that influence performance. Internal factors like organizational structure, policies and business
strategies are also main performance influences (Hunt, 2014). Most companies have realized that they
can improve their performances by influencing their employee s behavior. If employees are aligned

Macy s has recently entered into a partnership with Microsoft to empower their leading employees by

What Is The Evolution Of Gay Pride Parades
The evolution of the gay pride parade
Over the past 42 years, annual gay pride parades have become tradition in dozens of cities worldwide.
They have evolved from radical marches to enjoyable festivals of celebrations with elaborate floats,
and notable participants. This annual parade has been a way of celebrating LGBT history and
diversity. These gay pride parades haven t always been all happy, and full of beautiful rainbows
though. In the beginning, 1969, they were portrayed as somber marches taking determined stands on
gay rights. This research paper will specifically focus on the evolution of pride parades from 1969 to
the present, and how the parades influenced the law.

The previous, loosely organized somber marches, and parades were taken over by more organized and
less political elements of the gay society. The marches began dropping the names, and labels of
freedom , and liberation , replacing them with the world wide known philosophy of Gay Pride .
According to Wikipedia, many parades still have at least some political or activist character, especially
is less accepting locations. However, in more accepting locations, the parades take on a festive like
character where the political stage is built on the enjoyable atmosphere of celebrations. These large
parades often involve floats, dancers, drag queens, and loud, amplified music, but even such
celebratory parades usually include the political and educational aspect on this certain situation. Local
politicians, and marching groups from known LGBT institutes join the celebration to continue their
support for open gay pride. Other typical parade participants include local LGBT friendly churches
such as Metropolitan community churches, and LGBT employee associations from the large

be on the demand capabilities, hourly consumption and solar production analysis of households in
Finland ,however other countries like Southern European have also covered for comparison.
Moreover, for fundamentals various models are deliberated, besides which sensitivity on investment
analysis are conducted with choices of realistic scenario. In Finland business opportunities does exist
but however, until now still no attractive returns. Base case analysis demonstrated internal rates which
are among 3,0 % and 1,6 % , this is without demand response benefits, and internal rates of return
among 0,8 % and 0,3 % with them. Therefore, demand response had a really important positive effect
on the returns of an investment during regulation trading activities and solar production self
consumption maximisation.

Analysis Of Disney Cartoons From Disney
I watched all of THE BOOZE HANGS HIGH, RED HOT RIDING HOOD, MONKEY DOODLE,
FAST AND FURRY OUS, and AN OPTICAL POEM. These animations were very different from the
likes of Disney. I noticed that almost all of these animations were meant for adults definitely not
children. I also realized that the animation styles were different from Disney. Pigs drinking booze, Red
Riding Hood as a burlesque singer, lustful monkeys looking at naked female monkeys with proper
human anatomy, Road Runner being blown to smithereens by Coyote. Just think about all the scenes I
just described. Would you want your children being exposed to these things? I believe most
commendable parents even nowadays would say HELL NO!! I was baffled and surprised at how
cartoons of this time were not meant for kids. This seemed so backward to me, growing up watching
LOONEY TOONS as a kids show. I think that cartoons started this way due to the people who were
going out to the movies and watching these cartoons were adults. Adults don t want to watch cartoons
that appeal to children when they are on a date or trying to get time away from their kids. In contrast,
from Disney, the competition saw an untouched market. Disney quickly began to focus their cartoons
toward children. The competition, on the other hand, marketed to a more mature audience. Making
studios like Warner Brothers have a lucrative stake in the animation business. The hilarity of it is that
these days THE LOONEY TOONS cartoons are kid friendly they won t even show the episode where
Elmer Fud kills Bugs Bunny. The fact that the competitor s studios decided to aim for a more mature
audience shows me two things. The first is the studios did not believe they could compete head to
head with Disney. Lastly, it shows that the studios were not scared to create cartoons that were lewd.
In essence, the competing studios handled their published animations in a business minded way. They
decided not to compete head on with Disney but to offset themselves from Disney s audience and
reach the audience that made and held the money. In PLANE CRAZY no background is the same. In
MONKEY DOODLE and FAST AND FURRY OUS, we observe the same background scene used
more than once in a scene that

Festinger s Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance
In the 1950s, Leon Festinger had come up with this theory of Cognitive Dissonance when a cult leader
had persuaded his followers to believe that life on earth was going to end, and that those who were
believers would be rescued by aliens. When this did not occur, they rationalized their beliefs by
instead coming to the conclusion that aliens, rather, had saved the entire world. Cognitive Dissonance
occurs when we hold a strong belief about something and then do something else that contradicts that
belief. Look at a person who smokes cigarettes, but knows that the nicotine and all that goes inside
one cigarette are bad. The tension they feel is dissonance, and to ease that tension they can do one of
three things: change their behavior, justify their behavior by changing their conflicting thoughts, or
justify their behavior by adding on new thoughts. This paper will use research articles that were
previously written, to explain the relationship between dissonance and moral/non moral ... Show more

Festinger wanted to test if the presence of a reward would influence the participant into changing his
private opinion closer to the opinion that was desired which contradicts the participant s original
beliefs. His findings saw that a large reward produced less subsequent opinion change than did a
smaller reward. The conclusion of the study was that the findings were unequivocal, however in the
three conditions: the baseline (control), one dollar (small reward) and twenty dollar (large reward),
cognitive dissonance was lessened in the small condition but when it went beyond the minimum
reward needed to elicit it, the weaker the tendency was to change their private opinion and perform the

The Universal Theme Of Power In Olemet s Play Oleanna
Through italics, capitalization, and length of discourse per character, Mamet s play Oleanna develops
the universal idea of power as a constant struggle amplified by gender tension and the human
tendency to crave power.
Mamet uses length of speech and interruptions to demonstrate that people become desperate when
powerless and will do anything to regain power. The play begins with a long monologue by John. He
talks on the phone and completely ignores Carol, because she holds little power in the relationship of
professor and student. John is enveloped in his own world and pays no attention to Carol. The phone
is a symbol of power for John and he uses it to interrupt Carol and belittles her perspective. Near the
end of Act One, Carol seems like she is gathering the courage to tell John a secret about her life that
she has never told anyone before, but the phone interrupts: All of my life... (The phone rings.)...
(JOHN goes to the phone and picks it up) and he continues to argue on the phone for an entire page
(Mamet 38). Carol is powerless and therefore insignificant, so John ignores her and worries about his
house. Power is a finite resource; consequently, people compete for the limited power. Mamet uses
interruptions and length of dialogue to express who is in control. Carol has gained the upper hand as
Act Three begins. John attempts to lecture Carol like he has done in all the previous acts, however,
Carol interjects:
CAROL: I was most surprised you asked me.

Code Switching Of English In Bollywood
Research Question 3 How English is used in Bollywood films ? 1.Code switching with English in the
Indian situation English in Bollywood frequently takes the form of code switching. In a bilingual
speech community, speakers tend to mix words, phrases, clauses and sentences when they
communicate with others. They are able to switch linguistically built upon different situations. When
two languages are expressed in this way, they differ remarkable from the same languages as spoken in
their separate social systems. This kind of interference on the discourse level is known as code
switching (Malhotra, S. 1980). Since 1957, English was spoken by upper and middle social class in

The Physical Effects Of Smoking On The Body
It can be seen that the effects of smoking on your body can be very drastic, for example smoke in
tobacco contains many dangerous chemicals such as Tar; Carbon monoxide; Hydrogen cyanide;
Oxidizing chemicals; Metals and finally radioactive compounds known to be carcinogenic.
The physical effects on the respiratory system, meaning that the system of organs in the body take
control for the input of oxygen and the exhalation of smoking, this consist of irritation of the trachea
(windpipe) and larynx (voice box), a reduced lung function and breathlessness due to swelling of the
lungs, an impairment of the lungs clearance system which results to lung irritation and damage, an
elevated risk of lung infections and permanent damage to the air sacs of the lungs.
Moreover, the damage of the respiratory system can progress and effect the circulatory system. For
example, there will be a raised blood pressure and heart rate which will exceedingly tighten the blood
vessels in the skin eventually leading to the drop in skin temperature. As less oxygen is carried by the
blood, the blood would be more prone to clotting.
Emotionally, smoking can damage your immune system by causing infections such as pneumonia and
influenza and more severely a longer lasting illness which can decrease the levels of protective
antioxidants (such as vitamin c). When your body takes in nicotine, emotions swing in the opposite
way when the drug is removed causing a nicotine withdrawal. Smokers under nicotine

Marketing For The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, And...
Marketing for the Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, and Female Harley Davidson riders
Today s marketer must take into consideration many generational differences when considering a
marketing strategy for a product. Most products are intended for a massive audience, requiring the
marketer to utilize an integrated marketing scheme to encompass all generations. Specialized
products, being marketed to a specific sector, also have a unique opportunity to market directly to a
target audience. Being aware of the differences in marketing to mass audiences and the targeting of
specific groups, is a valuable arrow in the quiver of a marketer. Comparing the differences in the older
generations gives the marketer an insight into how to mass market, while targeting the groups as a
whole. There is also an interesting opportunity for the marketer to target a very specific group for
specialized products. While the job of the marketer remains the same, the methodology must be
different to reach the intended audiences.
The Silent Generation
The silent generation consists of those born between 1928 and 1945. This group grew up during the
Great Depression and World War II. These two major facts helped to shape the attitudes and habits of
the generation. This sector of the population encompasses approximately fifty five million consumers,
the majority being retirees with great amounts of savings. Due to the fact they grew up during The
Great Depression, has led to a very

This is an experimental study because it is looking at whether participation in leanness focused sports
causes disordered eating. Because it is looking at a causal relationship, it is an experimental design,
rather than correlational. The independent variable we were studying was the sport type of
participation. For this variable, the participants could be characterized as leanness focused sport
athletes, nonleaness focused sport athletes, or non athletes. The dependent variable was the level of
disordered eating, as determined by the EAT 26. The data would be analyzed using a one way
ANOVA. If the result of this determined that there was a significant result, somewhere in the data, the
next step would be to perform post hoc tests to see where the differences occur. An appropriate post
hoc test would be Fisher s Least Significant Difference test. The desired result of this study would be
that leanness focused sport athletes would have a significantly higher level of disorder eating than
nonleanness focused sport athletes. Additionally, nonleaness focused sport athletes would have a
significantly higher level of disordered eating than non athletes.

Leviathan, By Thomas Hobbes
In Leviathan, by Thomas Hobbes, he talks about nature, man, liberty, and other topics. Mr. Hobbes
says that nature hath made men so equal, but how can we determine how they are equal? We can say
everyone is equal before they come into the world, except when they are actually in the world, no one
is the same. Everyone is different in some way, whether it be with respect, money, or just social gains.
One man can claim any benefit to his satisfaction, but is it only satisfying to himself or others? What
makes this satisfying? Something s can be satisfying while others find them horrifying. For example,
in the real world there are psychopaths that murder people and do other totally absurd things. The
normal people find this disturbing, and might find football satisfying to them, but then again, who
defines what is normal about a person.
Without a common power to keep all men in awe, they are in war. Every man is for themselves and
just fighting to be the best, but how can this be? Why can t we all just accept who each other is,
instead of fighting for who can be the best? When men are in war with each other, they have no
common sense between justice and injustice actions. They block everything out and go on a totally
aggressive offensive scheme. All they care about is coming on top and destroying whoever they are at
war with, but why does there have to be war at all? Most people go to war for items and to show who
is best, but can there never be war? The answer is no, to

Emile Research Paper
Emile s moral education grounded in nature leads to the cultivation of imagination, which in turn leads
to the transformation of his amour propre. With amour propre one begins to compare themselves to
others and then the desire for attachment is born to provide for the sexual desires. Emile s imagination
allows him to learn from events he sees, which in turn allows him to see himself in the position of
others. By seeing himself as others, Emilie realizes that everyone suffers, not just him, but he also
realizes that he is superior and can help those suffering more than him. Emile s desire for attachment
leads him to Sophie, who allows Emile to transform from what Rousseau refers to as a good man into
a moral man. The goal of Emile s education was to make him fit for society, but not corrupted by

Only when Sophie and Emile are together, can either of them be truly moral. By delaying the spark of
imagination, Emile is able to develop his amour propre and fall in love with the idea of his beloved.
The cultivation of Emile s imagination leads to the development of his amour propre, which then leads
to the ability to feel pity, and pity, once generalized to mankind, leads to virtue. The transformation of
Emile into a moral man begins before the marriage of Sophie and Emile, while Emile is away from
Sophie, but the process is completed when Emile follows through on his promise to love Sophie.
The cultivation of Emile s imagination is essential for the development of his amour propre. Rousseau
believes that Emilie should learn from events rather than books. One learns much more from the
conversation with authors than in their books . . . It is the spirit of societies which develops a
thoughtful mind and extends our vision as far as it can go. (Bloom tr., 342). Rousseau believes that

The Life and Work of John Calvin and Galileo Galilei Essay
John Calvin was born July 10th, 1509, in Noyon, Picardy. He was raised up in a staunch Roman
Catholic family. Early in his life, Calvin s father was employed by the local bishop as an administrator
at the town s cathedral. With this newly acquired job, John Calvin s father wanted Calvin to be a
priest. Due to the fact that his family had close ties with the bishop and his noble family, Calvin s
classmates in Noyon were aristocratic and culturally influential in his childhood. At the age of
fourteen, Calvin set off for Paris to study at the College de Marche. This helped him prepare for
university study. At the College de Marche, he studied seven subjects: grammar, rhetoric, logic,
arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. Towards the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A year later, Calvin ran away from Paris. Reason being, his friends wrote papers and gave lectures
opposing the Roman Catholic Church, which frightened Calvin. For the next three or so years, John
Calvin lived in several places outside of France. This included him using a dozen or so names;
changing it from place to place he traveled. He traveled alone, studying by himself, preaching, and
beginning work on the Institutes of the Christian Religion, which turned out to be an instant best
seller. By 1536, he had stopped work in the Roman Catholic Church, and made plans to leave France
for good. He planned on leaving France and heading over to Strasbourg. However, due to the war
between Francis I and Charles V, Calvin decided to make a detour to Geneva. Calvin was a huge
success in Geneva. Farel, a reformer, invited him to stay in Geneva. Farel also threatened Calvin s life
with God s anger if he chose not to stay. After deciding to stay in Geneva, thus began a long
relationship with the city. Due to theological conflicts, Calvin was asked to leave the city, where he
began as a lecturer and preacher. In 1538, he left the city of Geneva, and headed off for Strasbourg. In
1541, Calvin, who was now working as a pastor to French refugees, was requested to come back to
Geneva by the Council of Geneva. So, in 1541, Calvin returned to Geneva. He remained in Geneva
until his death on May 27th, 1564. Those last several years were plentiful with lecturing,

The Pros And Cons Of A Dystopian Society
Dystopia is a dehumanized society, where its society are presented to be a utopia, but everything has
become misguided towards a corrupted state. The Greek prefix dys means ill or bad therefore dystopia
means a bad place where it s made of darkness and poverty. Its people lived under the shadow of a
totalitarian government. Dystopia is not the same thing as an anti utopia, where anti utopia is on the
contrary of the utopia where they initiated as a place that is the adverse of utopia, but for dystopia, it is
seen as its outer appearance to be a utopian society but in some ways it has become depraved. As the

Which means they prevented its citizen from thinking on their own about what they desire the most.
The person who rule the society thinks of anyone else as a lower than himself. For instance, in
Divergent and The Hunger Games there is always a central city where it controls the other sub cities.
In The Hunger Games, only the capitol controls all the other twelve remote districts they set the rules
for every other districts to participate in the annual hunger games for their own entertainment and they
don t value people s life, they do not sympathize with anyone outside their capitol. A Person s death
does not matter to them. Furthermore, a totalitarian government can be seen by the people in Do
Androids dream of electric sheep? as well as the people in the book Fahrenheit 451 they were
prevented from thinking on their own by their government. In Fahrenheit 451 the firefighters were the
one to start the fire, to burn the books, this is an example of censorship, in Fahrenheit 451 books are
prohibited if books are found in the house the firefighter s mission are to burn the books to ashes,
because the books contain so much knowledges and it leads people to question and to think.
Therefore, it will be hard for the government to control its society if its citizen are well knowledged it

Banks became increasingly worried about both the value of their own mortgage books and particularly
the value of the mortgage securitised investments they had bought from other institutions As a result
they became reluctant to lend to other banks in the short term money markets. This crisis of
confidence led to major liquidity problems for many banks and insurance companies worldwide.
Liquidity means the ability of institutions, including banks, to meet their short term obligations

The oil price eventually peaked at $147 per barrel in mid 2008.
How did the crisis develop during 2008?
The Bank of England had to provide financial support to the Northern Rock Building Society in the

One very famous director which has earned the right to be titled an Auteur is Quentin Tarantino.
Tarantino writes, directs and sometimes even acts in his own films and specialises in action as well as
adventure. A majority of his films are all from the top of his head and they usually consist a lot of
blood, gore and violence. He intends to use the same characters in more than one film, for example he
uses Uma Thurman as his leading lady in more than one movie and another example would be Samuel
L. Jackson who he casted in Pulp Fiction (1994) and Django Unchained (2012). Another technique
from Tarantino would be the colour, font and pictures within his film posters. Most of his action film
posters use a lot of red in the title with big bold font to make the typo stand out, he also uses a lot of
red in the foreground or the background of his posters to symbolise the amount of bloodshed in
The film lastly would be the props that he uses, usually a weapon and normally a gun or sword.
Tarantino always uses the same fundamental themes and techniques in order to print his signature on
his work. Most of his films narratives consist of the theme of racism and the rational and continues use
of the N word, the overuse of foul language and the cinematography of his mise en scene including the
position of the camera, his tracking techniques and his long takes.

The Microsoft Monopoly Essay
The Microsoft Monopoly
I. Introduction
United States vs. Microsoft is one the largest, most controversial antitrust lawsuits in American
history. Many claim the government is wrongly punishing Microsoft for being innovative and
successful, arguing that Windows dominates the market because of the product s popularity, not
because of malpractice by the parent company. Others argue in favor of the government, claiming that
Microsoft s practices conflict with the free market ideal. There are many arguments for both sides of
the lawsuit, but what the case really comes down to is this: does the government have the right to
interfere in today s marketplace? Or is Microsoft violating laws that are rightfully imposed by the

another operating system, DR DOS, was released by a company called Digital Research. Critics claim
that this operating system never had a chance at gaining a fair share of the market because Microsoft
deliberately slowed DR DOS s sales by announcing a better version of MS DOS was on its way
(Newman).
Windows, a program that was created in 1983, but did not change the market significantly until 1990,
has grown to control 94.1% of the operating system market (Newman). This has required other
companies in the software industry to make all of their applications Windows compatible. Critics
claim that Microsoft systematically eliminated all competition of other operating systems and software
manufacturers. Microsoft also controls a large part of the software industry. According to sales from
April 2002, Microsoft sold 89% of office software to consumers (Washington Post). Microsoft
bundles these applications with the Windows operating system, which is, according to them, an
effective technique. Critics assert that this forces other makers of office software, like Corel, to lose
business, because consumers will not buy another application if one is already pre installed. Critics
point to the proposed 1995 merger between Microsoft and Inuit which ultimately failed. Inuit is the

Psychedelic Drugs Research Paper
Psychedelic Drugs
Medical interest in psychedelic drugs has been renewed, but is it possible to overcome their negative
stigma and association with counterculture to move forward with their potential medical promise?
Psychedelic drugs are poised to be the next major mental breakthrough in health care, yet studying any
type of illegal drug is often met with rejection, backlash, or tight regulations (Bushak, 2015). These
drugs, if handled correctly, could potentially change the lives of millions of patients across America.
Many would suggest that the risk is too high, but in which way do psychedelics present more risks
than heavily addicting narcotics or alcohol? This treatment would allow thousands of individuals to
manage pain levels, anxiety, and depression in a whole new manner. Legalizing psychedelic drugs for
medical purposes would be beneficial to society because of their potential medicinal and therapeutic
treatments that heavily outweigh the observed risks.

Heroism Depicted Throughout The Epic Poem, The Iliad And...
Heroism is shown through the ages in a variety of areas all over the world. One of the greatest
examples of how heroism is depicted within a literary work is in Homer s epic poem, The Iliad.
Although the ideals of heroism are apparent in the poem, it is important to understand how the same
theme can be seen through other works of literature. The Knights Tale, which is one of the greatest
stories that Chaucer s Canterbury Tales has to offer. The Iliad and The Knights Tale are both stories
that contain the ideals of heroism.
In the epic poem, The Iliad, Homer was brilliant in showing the idea of traditional heroism on the
battlefield. There is a clear conviction that comes from Homer in that he directed towards his audience
with the motive of making them understand the true definition of heroism. One of the greatest
examples of how heroism is displayed is the success within the field of battle. Heroism is defined by
the wish and willingness to emerge as a winner in case of militants. Through military conflict heroism
is defined by the urge on the war field as well as the desire to defend and protect one s honor.
However, the complexity that exists within the heroism is what redefines the ideal of heroism by truly
revealing it. Wife, I too have thought upon all this, but with what face should I look upon the Trojans,
men or women, if I shirked battle like a coward? (142). Within this final scene between Hector and his
wife, the heroism of war is truly displayed. Hector

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Ad-Hoc Network
The Ad hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes which can communicate without each other with
the help of wireless. There is no former communication infrastructure in MANETs [1]. There is no
fixed infrastructure and centralized control in MANETs therefore nodes can communicate the network
at any time. All nodes are supposed to be equal in processing power. All node can act either as a host
or as a router to direct the packet from source to destination in the network. All nodes acts as routers
and are capable of discovering and maintaining routes to propagate packets to the destinations.[2]
There are lots of advantages promised of network in terms of cost and flexibility compared to network

The trust may also be disturbed if some nodes are detected as compromised. 3) Routing Overhead: In
wireless ad hoc networks, nodes often change their location within network. So, many dusty routes are
generated in the routing table which leads to unnecessary routing overhead. 4) Hidden terminal
problem: The hidden terminal problem refers to the collision of packets at a receiving node due to the
simultaneous transmission of those nodes that are not within the direct transmission range of the
sender, but are within the transmission range of the receiver.
5) Packet losses due to transmission errors: Ad hoc wireless networks experiences a much higher
packet loss due to factors such as increased collisions due to the presence of hidden terminals,
presence of interference, uni directional links, frequent path breaks due to mobility of nodes.
6) Mobility induced route changes: The network topology in an ad hoc wireless network is highly
dynamic due to the movement of nodes; hence an on going session suffers frequent path breaks. This
situation often leads to frequent route

Cerebral Arteriovenous Segmentation
Cerebral arteriovenous malformations are presumably congenital vascular malformations that may
present clinically with a variety of symptoms, including hemorrhage, seizures, headaches, progressive
neurologic deficits, and intellectual deterioration. Hemodynamic alterations caused by the complex
Angioarchitecture of CAVMs play a role in seizure manifestation [43]. Large CAVM size and high
flow through the arterial feeding vessels of the CAVMs were related to seizure susceptibility on the
basis of the assumption that the large Nidus creates a low resistance vascular bed redirecting blood
away from the surrounding brain tissue, thus creating local hypoxemia in the adjacent brain tissue,
which, in turn, may trigger gliosis and seizure activity. This pathomechanism was referred to as
arterial steal. Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (CAVM) are a common form of cerebral vascular
malformation and are composed of a NIDUS of vessels through which arteriovenous shunting occur

The Role Of God In The Gospel Of Mark
If you were to choose one word to describe the composite nature of the kingdom of God, it would
most likely be hazy. Throughout the old and new testament, we re presented with the theory of what
the kingdom of God is. Only to find out it is either a safe haven for God s loyal followers or a sign of
the imminent apocalypse (or second coming). Both beliefs of the kingdom of God were presented in
the synoptic gospels, especially in the Gospel of Mark. The author in this case is able to combine the
ideas of apocalyptic literature into the hopeful message that those who followed the Lord will be
rewarded for their faithfulness. Ultimately, the gospel of Mark uses writing features of apocalyptic

theorized kingdom of God? The Marcan Gospel claims the followers of Jesus must forgo what makes
them sin, which can be considered the evil in this world. By doing this there is a promise of an eternal
reward for going against the ways of the world. This idea highlights the concept presented in
apocalyptic literature called divine justice. The premises behind divine justice is that the followers of
Jesus may not get an earthly reward, but they will get a spiritual reward for their faithfulness. Mark
highlights this idea of divine justice

Video Game Sales Over The Past Years
With the success in our video game sales over the past couple of years, Ninesis Gaming Co. is going
to develop our own gaming console. We truly believe now would be the best time for us to begin
development on a new console that we and other game developing companies can create and design
games for.
Over the past year we have been in contact with game developers such as Ubisoft, EA, Bethesda, and
Rare; all of these developers had a common interest in developing games for a console that we at
Ninesis Gaming Company will develop and design. We are on the verge of creating a gaming console
to not only compete with the Wii U, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One, but to surpass them in every
marketable area. We have already constructed a prototype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In conclusion, the time is right and the developers are committed to hit the ground running as we
embark on this exciting industry changing endeavor. We are thrilled to invite you to join us on this
adventure. We have the technology, and the support of many third party developers who want to create
software for our console. With your financial support we will be able to accomplish this goal.

Abstract We at Ninesis game believe we are in a better time than ever to begin development on a
brand new gaming console that would compete with the Microsoft s Xbox One, Sony s PlayStation 4,
and Nintendo s Wii U. In this proposal I will go over everything from how we will develop the
Ninesis Gaming System and how much it would cost to produce enough of the consoles to be able to
send them out to testers. We believe this move in development would put the company into the AAA
gaming market. The technology that I will be explaining will show that this console can be used for
not only hardcore and casual gaming but, education, and training. We are requesting to be funded to
produce enough of these consoles so that we can get them out to testers to see how well they hold up
with today s gamers, educators, and work force. In order to develop the Ninesis Gaming System,
Ninesis games will require a large development loan.
Introduction This proposal will show all the aspects and innovations of the Ninesis Gaming

Economic Theory Of Mercantilism
The Mercantilist economic theory brings to view the nationalist effort that maximizes trade and the
accumulation of gold and silver at the expense of other nations. This economic theory promotes
national regulation of the economy and trade through the process of expanding the domestic industry.
This approach went against free trade as it practices restrict imports and raise trade tariffs.
Mercantilism was the primary economic system of trade between the 16th and 18th century, and it
understood that wealth was static. Its perception of wealth led to the European nations implementing
tariffs that would ensure they maintained their power through their wealth. This wealth perception
restricted trade through tariffs that restricted imports while promoting exports. Hence, the static
attitude of trade ensured that the European nations imposed their government regulations over
countries that they were interested commercially. Therefore, the Mercantilism economic theory
identified the insecurities of the European nations as the global market increased and their influences
diminished.
According to William Baker, Mercantilism played a huge role in facilitating the trade system practiced
between the 16th and 18th century. Hence, Mercantilism was used to justify the role that slavery
played in enhancing European wealth. Slavery was reinforced through the Englishmen concepts that
saw them superior compared to the Africans, they associated Africans strange culture with their

Gender Roles In Lillie Devereux Blake s Fettered For Life
In nineteenth century America, there were strict gender roles and expectations that men and women
were expected to conform to. Men were seen as dominant to women; while men were able to work
and drink, women were expected to get married, follow orders from her husband, and live a life of
limited freedom and personal choice. We see examples of these roles throughout Lillie Devereux
Blake s novel, Fettered for Life, as we encounter different women in the text that are oppressed
through physical abuse and lack of agency. However, Frank Heywood, the woman, manages to
outsmart these rules by cross dressing to be a man. She s the only female in the novel to break free of
the slavery of womanhood, and in the process uses her newfound freedom to act as a voice for the
oppressed female population. Not only does Frank aid women and their oppression, but she also
proves that women can do the work of a man, but are denied opportunities because of their sex. Blake
uses Frank s character to demonstrate the ways in which gender roles are socially constructed, and
prove that it s possible to break through the implemented social rules. Our first encounter of Frank, in
the opening scene, leads us to notice something different about him. Reporting for the New York
Trumpeter in the courtroom during Laura s trial, Blake describes him as having dark ernest eyes, with
a strange expression lurking in their depths, an indefinable something hard to interpret...a look as of
perpetual unrest, of

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) is a nearly pandemic condition, it has the potential to cause loss of
limb or even loss of life (Stephens E., 2016). Peripheral vascular disease is also known as peripheral
arterial disease, Peripheral artery occlusive disease or Peripheral atherosclerosis (Peripheral vascular
disease, 2015). Peripheral arterial disease is a manifestation of systemic atherosclerosis (Thuy,
Jonathan, Philip,et al., 2013).
The Heart Association of Australia considered PAD as a coronary artery disease (CAD) risk
equivalent, thus screening and treatment is considered important. There are currently no Australian
guidelines recommending routine screening for PVD, although screening should be considered in

Investor plans for long horizon after considering the fundamental factors and assumes moderate risk.
The main objectives of rational investors are maximizing returns and minimizing risk, safety of the
principal, tradability and liquidity are his subsidiary objectives. Financial instruments can be
categorized by form depending on whether they are cash instruments or derivative
instruments: Cash instruments are financial instruments whose value is determined directly by
markets. They can be divided into securities, which are readily transferable, and other cash
instruments such as loans and deposits, where both borrower and lender have to agree on a transfer.
Derivative instruments are financial instruments which derive their value from the value and
characteristics of one or more underlying entities such as an asset, index, or interest rate. They can be
divided into exchangetraded derivatives and over the counter (OTC) derivatives. Alternatively,
financial instruments can be categorized by asset class depending on whether they are equity based
(reflecting ownership of the issuing entity) or debt based (reflecting a loan the investor has made to
the issuing entity). If it is debt, it can be further categorized into short term (less than one year) or long
term. Foreign Exchange instruments and transactions are neither debt nor equity based and belong in
their own category. A legal document such as a

Salmonell Salmonella And Salmonella
One of the most common causes of food poisoning to date in the United States today is from a group
of bacteria, Salmonella (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.). As reported by the Centers of Disease Control and
Prevention [CDC] (2014), Salmonella causes an estimated 1.2 million illnesses annually leading to
19,000 hospitalizations and a mortality of 380 (CDC, 2014). This cost was reported to be more than
$3.7 billion in 2013 (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.)! The two most common kinds of Salmonella in the United
States are Salmonella serotype Typhimurium and Salmonella serotype Enteritidis with Salmonellosis
more common in the summer months (CDC, 2012).
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, and vomiting anywhere from 6 72 hours
after being infected (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.). Because there are many things that can cause those
symptoms, diagnosing Salmonella would depend on laboratory tests that identifies it in the stool of an
individual that is infected (CDC, 2013). Further testing can help determine the specific type once
Salmonella has been confirmed.
These symptoms typically go away after 5 7 without treatment other than hydration. However,
individuals with severe symptoms may require intravenous fluids or antibiotic therapy, most especially
for young infants, older adults (over 65 years old) and immunocompromised persons (CDC, 2012).
The drug of choice for antibiotic therapy include fluoroquinolones, third generation cephalosporins,
and ampicillin (CDC, 2012).

A Comparison Between King Lear and Oedipus
King Lear Comparison
A tragedy is not only an imitation of life in general but an imitation of an action, as Aristotle defined
his ideas in the Poetics, which presents Oedipus as an ultimate tragic hero. There is a obvious link
between the two characters in that blindness both literal and metaphorical is a strong theme in the
stories.
Issues of self recognition and self knowledge are significant for Oedipus as well as King Lear. For
Aristotle, Reversal, Recognition and Suffering are key elements in a complex tragedy. The human
instinct to seek knowledge of and to know an individual s character is essential to understand their
actions (Aristotle, 1 49). King Lear and King Oedipus find that self recognition and self knowledge ...

Thebes high esteem for Oedipus is shown through the Chorus until the bitter end of the play. In the
beginning of the play King Oedipus is a person of vast self assurance. This character attribute is
demonstrated in his willingness to take the full responsibility for dealing with the crisis, the plague.
King Oedipus feels certain that he will also manage this crisis as he has done before with the riddle of
the sphinx. He feels so self assure that he even thinks he is able to trick the oracle and the gods by
simply fleeing Corinth. But this is a big miscalculation as the play shows. The outline in the story of
Oedipus s self discovery begins when he starts to solve the second riddle, the riddle of Laius death.
During this solving Oedipus character changes from an honour man to a fearful, condemned man by
his tragic fate in the end. The changing of the character is accompanied by the changing of the riddle:
the question Who is the murderer of Laius? changes to Who am I? Aristotle in his Poetics discusses
this reversal when he speaks of a change of the action into the opposite (Aristotle, 18). As the tragedy
moves on, finding the truth for Oedipus becomes an obsession. The dispute between Teiresias and
Oedipus demonstrates that Oedipus does not even take the possibility of involvement in something
bad into consideration. Teiresias, after he has been provoked,

Powerlifting Team Analysis
Being an excellent leader doesn t take physically being the strongest or the smartest. It s the individual
that takes the responsibility for the pack and guides them to success. Outside of the classroom I ve
taken initiative in several groups. Such as on my powerlifting team, by providing a good example for
my young siblings and also by participating in a freshman mentoring program. These experiences
have made me stronger and more aware of others struggles. Being varsity on power lifting has done so
many things for me academically and physically. These accomplishments come as a product of the
sweat and many hours I ve invested into the program. During the season I not only work out but help
other young ladies to grow and push themselves in

  • 2. Breaking Magenta Research Paper Breaking Magenta Journeys throughout life are inevitable; we all grow and we all change. Nothing is suspended in time no matter how hard we try to preserve it. Yet one individual doesn t have just one journey. Humans are dynamic, complicated creatures. We bend, break, and mold continuously into different components of ourselves. One of my journeys, as many as I have gone through, is self acceptance. It began when I started 6th grade, when the anger started to settle in. I had no reason to be angry, I didn t have a perfect sunshine life but I definitely had it better than most. All of this anger was deep inside me, but I hadn t the slightest of ideas where it was coming from. Finding other queer and gender nonconforming peers really helped me secure faith in my identity and my journey through gender reassignment. • 3. Organizational Theory Of Planned Behavior 1. Introduction In order to accomplish this assignment, I have chosen to have one vegan day a week as the social activity that I will maintain throughout the session. In particular, on Sunday every week, all the food I consume is free of animal products including meat, milk, eggs, etc. The activity has been starting since Week 2 of the session and so far I have successfully completed ten vegan days for tine weeks respectively (from Session Week 2 to Week 10, including the mid session break week) with different vegan dishes for each day, which are shown in the Appendix. In this reflective essay, I will explain the reason why I choose this activity, my plan and objectives, as well as my reflection on the progress which is divided into three ... Therefore, my perceived power toward the behaviour is high as I do not have any objective constraint. 3. Plan and Objectives Due to the fact that this is a totally new habit which I have never experienced before, I need a lot of time for familiarisation and preparation. Therefore, in order to keep the progress on track, I have rearranged my weekly timetable and scheduled all the activities I need to do before Sunday when I cook the dishes. In particular, from Monday to Thursday every week, I actively search for vegan recipes from various sources such as my friends who are vegans or vegan cooking tutorials online. After that, because shopping often takes plenty of time, I spend my Friday preparing all the required ingredients as I do not have class on that day. Saturday is when I go through all the pre cook steps such as defrosting frozen ingredients, chopping (onions, carrots, spring onions, etc.) and seasoning. Finally, I cook and decorate the dishes on Sunday, take picture for Twitter upload and enjoy them. The process then repeats on the next Monday. As previously stated, I expect to maintain this activity throughout the session. Therefore, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Clouds by Aristophanes Essay The Clouds by Aristophanes Relevant in Today s World The Clouds by Aristophanes, is a play centrally concerned with education. Aristophanes employs satire to illustrate his conservative beliefs. It is intended to show readers that in the tendency to philosophical subtleties lies the neglection of the real needs of the Athenians. According to Aristophanes, philosophical speculation only acts to shake the established foundations of accepted religion, gods, and ideals of morality. Specifically, as it was even discused in The Apology, Aristophanes believed that philosophical attitudes held by the Sophists enabled those who held them to convince others of wrong or weaker beliefs simply by sounding as if they knew what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In doing some background research into why this would be, I discovered that Aristophanes religious undertones could stem from the fact that Athenians were trying to harmonize science and religion. When new scientific theories were starting to surface and be questioned, many people couldn t even consider them without sounding as if they were committing treason against the state. Aristophanes turns to religion in order to remind his audience that both religion and science have to be equally open to questions, critique, and even in Aristophanes case, satire. This suggestion, that certain things need to be equally suceptable to to critique and questions can also be seen through the way that Aristophanes suggests there is both a problem with the accepted model of a well rounded education, and the newer model brought about by such philopophers as the Sophists. Aristophanes saw the danger in not questioning an accepted theory or belief. Despite the fact I agree with Johnson in that Aristophanes may be a staunch defender of old values, Aristophanes saw that if something widely accepted was left unquestioned for too long, it would become idle. Basically, an idea that I believe should be applied more in the world we live in today a traditionally accepted theory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Football Games And Its Impact On College Football Essay Introduction Collegiate athletics have long played an integral role in higher education in the United States. The popularity of collegiate football in America is unprecedented. The fan frenzy surrounding teams, games, and the sport itself, is borderline barmy. Aptly described as the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, fan emotions in college football are rampant (Moore, B., 2010). Football programs are able to generate a great deal of revenue through gate receipts (Groza, M. D., 2010). Football game day attendance is also an excellent proxy for other revenues such apparel sales and concessions. The major programs in college football play in the automatic qualifier (AQ in NCAA Football jargon) conferences: The Southeastern Conference (SEC), PAC 10 (Pacific 10) (now PAC 12), Big 10, Big 12 and Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC). (Paul, R., Humphreys, B. R., Weinbach, A., 2012). These five conferences are popularly referred to as the power five. Most top football programs in the power five conferences have a huge fan following and have high game day attendance. However in the smaller, non AQ, conferences there is a wide variation in game day attendance on a regular basis. This is because of the quality of the teams, market characteristics, and size of the stadium (Paul, R., Humphreys, B. R., Weinbach, A., 2012). According to Tim Padgett and Shane Hunt, the winning percentage may have a big influence in game day attendance, but the athletic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Analysis Of Disney Cartoons From Disney I watched all of THE BOOZE HANGS HIGH, RED HOT RIDING HOOD, MONKEY DOODLE, FAST AND FURRY OUS, and AN OPTICAL POEM. These animations were very different from the likes of Disney. I noticed that almost all of these animations were meant for adults definitely not children. I also realized that the animation styles were different from Disney. Pigs drinking booze, Red Riding Hood as a burlesque singer, lustful monkeys looking at naked female monkeys with proper human anatomy, Road Runner being blown to smithereens by Coyote. Just think about all the scenes I just described. Would you want your children being exposed to these things? I believe most commendable parents even nowadays would say HELL NO!! I was baffled and surprised at how cartoons of this time were not meant for kids. This seemed so backward to me, growing up watching LOONEY TOONS as a kids show. I think that cartoons started this way due to the people who were going out to the movies and watching these cartoons were adults. Adults don t want to watch cartoons that appeal to children when they are on a date or trying to get time away from their kids. In contrast, from Disney, the competition saw an untouched market. Disney quickly began to focus their cartoons toward children. The competition, on the other hand, marketed to a more mature audience. Making studios like Warner Brothers have a lucrative stake in the animation business. The hilarity of it is that these days THE LOONEY TOONS cartoons are kid friendly they won t even show the episode where Elmer Fud kills Bugs Bunny. The fact that the competitor s studios decided to aim for a more mature audience shows me two things. The first is the studios did not believe they could compete head to head with Disney. Lastly, it shows that the studios were not scared to create cartoons that were lewd. In essence, the competing studios handled their published animations in a business minded way. They decided not to compete head on with Disney but to offset themselves from Disney s audience and reach the audience that made and held the money. In PLANE CRAZY no background is the same. In MONKEY DOODLE and FAST AND FURRY OUS, we observe the same background scene used more than once in a scene that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Festinger s Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance In the 1950s, Leon Festinger had come up with this theory of Cognitive Dissonance when a cult leader had persuaded his followers to believe that life on earth was going to end, and that those who were believers would be rescued by aliens. When this did not occur, they rationalized their beliefs by instead coming to the conclusion that aliens, rather, had saved the entire world. Cognitive Dissonance occurs when we hold a strong belief about something and then do something else that contradicts that belief. Look at a person who smokes cigarettes, but knows that the nicotine and all that goes inside one cigarette are bad. The tension they feel is dissonance, and to ease that tension they can do one of three things: change their behavior, justify their behavior by changing their conflicting thoughts, or justify their behavior by adding on new thoughts. • 13. The Universal Theme Of Power In Olemet s Play Oleanna Through italics, capitalization, and length of discourse per character, Mamet s play Oleanna develops the universal idea of power as a constant struggle amplified by gender tension and the human tendency to crave power. Mamet uses length of speech and interruptions to demonstrate that people become desperate when powerless and will do anything to regain power. The play begins with a long monologue by John. He talks on the phone and completely ignores Carol, because she holds little power in the relationship of professor and student. John is enveloped in his own world and pays no attention to Carol. The phone is a symbol of power for John and he uses it to interrupt Carol and belittles her perspective. Near the end of Act One, Carol seems like she is gathering the courage to tell John a secret about her life that she has never told anyone before, but the phone interrupts: All of my life... (The phone rings.)... (JOHN goes to the phone and picks it up) and he continues to argue on the phone for an entire page (Mamet 38). Carol is powerless and therefore insignificant, so John ignores her and worries about his house. Power is a finite resource; consequently, people compete for the limited power. Mamet uses interruptions and length of dialogue to express who is in control. Carol has gained the upper hand as Act Three begins. John attempts to lecture Carol like he has done in all the previous acts, however, Carol interjects: CAROL: I was most surprised you asked me. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Code Switching Of English In Bollywood Research Question 3 How English is used in Bollywood films ? 1.Code switching with English in the Indian situation English in Bollywood frequently takes the form of code switching. In a bilingual speech community, speakers tend to mix words, phrases, clauses and sentences when they communicate with others. They are able to switch linguistically built upon different situations. When two languages are expressed in this way, they differ remarkable from the same languages as spoken in their separate social systems. This kind of interference on the discourse level is known as code switching (Malhotra, S. 1980). The physical effects on the respiratory system, meaning that the system of organs in the body take control for the input of oxygen and the exhalation of smoking, this consist of irritation of the trachea (windpipe) and larynx (voice box), a reduced lung function and breathlessness due to swelling of the lungs, an impairment of the lungs clearance system which results to lung irritation and damage, an elevated risk of lung infections and permanent damage to the air sacs of the lungs. Moreover, the damage of the respiratory system can progress and effect the circulatory system. For example, there will be a raised blood pressure and heart rate which will exceedingly tighten the blood vessels in the skin eventually leading to the drop in skin temperature. As less oxygen is carried by the blood, the blood would be more prone to clotting. Emotionally, smoking can damage your immune system by causing infections such as pneumonia and influenza and more severely a longer lasting illness which can decrease the levels of protective antioxidants (such as vitamin c). Marketing for the Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, and Female Harley Davidson riders Today s marketer must take into consideration many generational differences when considering a marketing strategy for a product. Specialized products, being marketed to a specific sector, also have a unique opportunity to market directly to a target audience. Being aware of the differences in marketing to mass audiences and the targeting of specific groups, is a valuable arrow in the quiver of a marketer. For this variable, the participants could be characterized as leanness focused sport athletes, nonleaness focused sport athletes, or non athletes. The dependent variable was the level of disordered eating, as determined by the EAT 26. The data would be analyzed using a one way ANOVA. If the result of this determined that there was a significant result, somewhere in the data, the next step would be to perform post hoc tests to see where the differences occur. An appropriate post hoc test would be Fisher s Least Significant Difference test. The desired result of this study would be that leanness focused sport athletes would have a significantly higher level of disorder eating than nonleanness focused sport athletes. Mr. Hobbes says that nature hath made men so equal, but how can we determine how they are equal? We can say everyone is equal before they come into the world, except when they are actually in the world, no one is the same. Everyone is different in some way, whether it be with respect, money, or just social gains. One man can claim any benefit to his satisfaction, but is it only satisfying to himself or others? What makes this satisfying? Something s can be satisfying while others find them horrifying. For example, in the real world there are psychopaths that murder people and do other totally absurd things. The normal people find this disturbing, and might find football satisfying to them, but then again, who defines what is normal about a person. Without a common power to keep all men in awe, they are in war. Every man is for themselves and just fighting to be the best, but how can this be? Why can t we all just accept who each other is, instead of fighting for who can be the best? When men are in war with each other, they have no common sense between justice and injustice actions. They block everything out and go on a totally aggressive offensive scheme. All they care about is coming on top and destroying whoever they are at war with, but why does there have to be war at all? Emile s imagination allows him to learn from events he sees, which in turn allows him to see himself in the position of others. By seeing himself as others, Emilie realizes that everyone suffers, not just him, but he also realizes that he is superior and can help those suffering more than him. Emile s desire for attachment leads him to Sophie, who allows Emile to transform from what Rousseau refers to as a good man into a moral man. The cultivation of Emile s imagination leads to the development of his amour propre, which then leads to the ability to feel pity, and pity, once generalized to mankind, leads to virtue. The transformation of Emile into a moral man begins before the marriage of Sophie and Emile, while Emile is away from Sophie, but the process is completed when Emile follows through on his promise to love Sophie. The cultivation of Emile s imagination is essential for the development of his amour propre. Rousseau believes that Emilie should learn from events rather than books. The Knights Tale, which is one of the greatest stories that Chaucer s Canterbury Tales has to offer. The Iliad and The Knights Tale are both stories that contain the ideals of heroism. In the epic poem, The Iliad, Homer was brilliant in showing the idea of traditional heroism on the battlefield. There is a clear conviction that comes from Homer in that he directed towards his audience with the motive of making them understand the true definition of heroism. One of the greatest examples of how heroism is displayed is the success within the field of battle. Heroism is defined by the wish and willingness to emerge as a winner in case of militants. Cerebral Arteriovenous Segmentation Cerebral arteriovenous malformations are presumably congenital vascular malformations that may present clinically with a variety of symptoms, including hemorrhage, seizures, headaches, progressive neurologic deficits, and intellectual deterioration. Hemodynamic alterations caused by the complex Angioarchitecture of CAVMs play a role in seizure manifestation [43]. Large CAVM size and high flow through the arterial feeding vessels of the CAVMs were related to seizure susceptibility on the basis of the assumption that the large Nidus creates a low resistance vascular bed redirecting blood away from the surrounding brain tissue, thus creating local hypoxemia in the adjacent brain tissue, which, in turn, may trigger gliosis and seizure activity. Only to find out it is either a safe haven for God s loyal followers or a sign of the imminent apocalypse (or second coming). Both beliefs of the kingdom of God were presented in the synoptic gospels, especially in the Gospel of Mark. The author in this case is able to combine the ideas of apocalyptic literature into the hopeful message that those who followed the Lord will be rewarded for their faithfulness. Ultimately, the gospel of Mark uses writing features of apocalyptic literature as a scare tactic for obedience. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is seen throughout the Gospel of Mark, the readers or early Christians were presented with the mindset that was needed in order to enter the kingdom of God. If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched, (Mark 9:43 48). Inherently, this metaphysical world is plagued by both evil and good, but which path is needed in order to enter the theorized kingdom of God? The Marcan Gospel claims the followers of Jesus must forgo what makes them sin, which can be considered the evil in this world. By doing this there is a promise of an eternal reward for going against the ways of the world. This idea highlights the concept presented in apocalyptic literature called divine justice. The premises behind divine justice is that the followers of Jesus may not get an earthly reward, but they will get a spiritual reward for their faithfulness. Mark highlights this idea of divine justice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Economic Theory Of Mercantilism The Mercantilist economic theory brings to view the nationalist effort that maximizes trade and the accumulation of gold and silver at the expense of other nations. This economic theory promotes national regulation of the economy and trade through the process of expanding the domestic industry. This approach went against free trade as it practices restrict imports and raise trade tariffs. Mercantilism was the primary economic system of trade between the 16th and 18th century, and it understood that wealth was static. Its perception of wealth led to the European nations implementing tariffs that would ensure they maintained their power through their wealth. This wealth perception restricted trade through tariffs that restricted imports while promoting exports. Hence, the static attitude of trade ensured that the European nations imposed their government regulations over countries that they were interested commercially. Therefore, the Mercantilism economic theory identified the insecurities of the European nations as the global market increased and their influences diminished. According to William Baker, Mercantilism played a huge role in facilitating the trade system practiced between the 16th and 18th century. Hence, Mercantilism was used to justify the role that slavery played in enhancing European wealth. Slavery was reinforced through the Englishmen concepts that saw them superior compared to the Africans, they associated Africans strange culture with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Gender Roles In Lillie Devereux Blake s Fettered For Life In nineteenth century America, there were strict gender roles and expectations that men and women were expected to conform to. Men were seen as dominant to women; while men were able to work and drink, women were expected to get married, follow orders from her husband, and live a life of limited freedom and personal choice. We see examples of these roles throughout Lillie Devereux Blake s novel, Fettered for Life, as we encounter different women in the text that are oppressed through physical abuse and lack of agency. However, Frank Heywood, the woman, manages to outsmart these rules by cross dressing to be a man. She s the only female in the novel to break free of the slavery of womanhood, and in the process uses her newfound freedom to act as a voice for the oppressed female population. Not only does Frank aid women and their oppression, but she also proves that women can do the work of a man, but are denied opportunities because of their sex. Blake uses Frank s character to demonstrate the ways in which gender roles are socially constructed, and prove that it s possible to break through the implemented social rules. Our first encounter of Frank, in the opening scene, leads us to notice something different about him. Reporting for the New York Trumpeter in the courtroom during Laura s trial, Blake describes him as having dark ernest eyes, with a strange expression lurking in their depths, an indefinable something hard to interpret...a look as of perpetual unrest, of ... • 46. Salmonell Salmonella And Salmonella One of the most common causes of food poisoning to date in the United States today is from a group of bacteria, Salmonella (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.). As reported by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] (2014), Salmonella causes an estimated 1.2 million illnesses annually leading to 19,000 hospitalizations and a mortality of 380 (CDC, 2014). This cost was reported to be more than $3.7 billion in 2013 (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.)! The two most common kinds of Salmonella in the United States are Salmonella serotype Typhimurium and Salmonella serotype Enteritidis with Salmonellosis more common in the summer months (CDC, 2012). Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, and vomiting anywhere from 6 72 hours after being infected (Foodsafety.gov, n.d.). Because there are many things that can cause those symptoms, diagnosing Salmonella would depend on laboratory tests that identifies it in the stool of an individual that is infected (CDC, 2013). Further testing can help determine the specific type once Salmonella has been confirmed. These symptoms typically go away after 5 7 without treatment other than hydration. However, individuals with severe symptoms may require intravenous fluids or antibiotic therapy, most especially for young infants, older adults (over 65 years old) and immunocompromised persons (CDC, 2012). The drug of choice for antibiotic therapy include fluoroquinolones, third generation cephalosporins, and ampicillin (CDC, 2012). A person can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. A Comparison Between King Lear and Oedipus King Lear Comparison A tragedy is not only an imitation of life in general but an imitation of an action, as Aristotle defined his ideas in the Poetics, which presents Oedipus as an ultimate tragic hero. There is a obvious link between the two characters in that blindness both literal and metaphorical is a strong theme in the stories. Issues of self recognition and self knowledge are significant for Oedipus as well as King Lear. For Aristotle, Reversal, Recognition and Suffering are key elements in a complex tragedy. The human instinct to seek knowledge of and to know an individual s character is essential to understand their actions (Aristotle, 1 49). King Lear and King Oedipus find that self recognition and self knowledge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thebes high esteem for Oedipus is shown through the Chorus until the bitter end of the play. In the beginning of the play King Oedipus is a person of vast self assurance. This character attribute is demonstrated in his willingness to take the full responsibility for dealing with the crisis, the plague. King Oedipus feels certain that he will also manage this crisis as he has done before with the riddle of the sphinx. He feels so self assure that he even thinks he is able to trick the oracle and the gods by simply fleeing Corinth. But this is a big miscalculation as the play shows. The outline in the story of Oedipus s self discovery begins when he starts to solve the second riddle, the riddle of Laius death. During this solving Oedipus character changes from an honour man to a fearful, condemned man by his tragic fate in the end. The changing of the character is accompanied by the changing of the riddle: the question Who is the murderer of Laius? changes to Who am I? Aristotle in his Poetics discusses this reversal when he speaks of a change of the action into the opposite (Aristotle, 18). As the tragedy moves on, finding the truth for Oedipus becomes an obsession. The dispute between Teiresias and Oedipus demonstrates that Oedipus does not even take the possibility of involvement in something bad into consideration. Teiresias, after he has been provoked, ...
