Dr. Anthony Jordan
Introduction
Dr. Anthony Jordan is the Executive Director Treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of
Oklahoma (BGCO). The BGCO is a convention of 1813 Southern Baptist churches comprising of
about 614,000 members. This organization s purpose is to help the churches that are members of
the convention spiritually, financially, and structurally. They provide a number of camps and
conventions for people to attend and use. They also provide assistance in handling the business
and professional aspect of a church s ministry. One of the most popular camps that the BGCO puts
on is Falls Creek Youth Camp where around 50,000 students attend over an 8 week period. Dr.
Anthony Jordan has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwest Baptist University and a Master of
Divinity and a Doctor of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (BGCO.com).
He has been the Executive Director Treasurer for the last nineteen years. Before he became the
Executive Director Treasurer, Dr. Jordan served as the lead pastor at Northwest Baptist Church in
Oklahoma City from 1982 1996 (ohbc.org). The members of the BGCO have been very positive
about the way Dr. Jordan leads and structures the convention. In the rest of this paper, I will inform
you of how Dr. Jordan handles ethical dilemmas, how the convention is structured and the culture
surrounding it, and the leadership style and qualities that Dr. Jordan uses and exemplifies as he
holds the position of Executive Director Treasurer of the

Classification Techniques in Machine Learning The classification of the data is the problem to
observe new numbers of discrete categories. The aim is to learn a model making accurate
predictions on new observations based on a set of data points. For example, for the observations
set, x1, ..., xn, the corresponding categories, y1, ..., yn, where yi в€€{ 1, +1}. Here, yi= 1 refers
to category of failure region, and yi=+1 refers to safe region. A new observation, x value, is
assigned to one of these categories. The three popular classification techniques are explained: (1) K
nearest neighbor (KNN), (2) support vector machine (SVM), and (3) naГЇve Bayes classifier
(NBC). The given algorithms here include both deterministic and probabilistic classification
approaches. 3.1 K nearest Neighbor In the machine learning, one of the simplest method for
classification is the K nearest neighbor algorithm. Given a new observation xв€€R, K training
observations from the rows of the Xtm closest in distance to x are found. After that, using the
mainstream division among these K nearest observations from the training set, x is classified.
Consequently, the performance of KNN algorithm depends on the choice of K and the algorithm is
sensitive to local structure of

Dupot Pipeline Tragedy
The horrible tragedy at the DuPont Chemical Plant in La Porte, Texas, which ended in four
innocent people losing their lives, began roughly 5 days prior to the accident. It was November 10,
2014, when a reactor in the plants Lannate unit, an insecticide DuPont produces for many
agricultural purposes, went down for an unscheduled maintenance. Lannate is produced by reacting
toxic methyl mercaptan with other chemicals. Two days later on November 12th, after all the up
keep was taken care of on the reactor, they tried to start it up again. They were unsuccessful in
starting up the reactor, and further investigation revealed a slurry blocking any passage through the
pipelines which lead to the reactor. However, slurries were a very common thing during shutdowns.
They form when methyl mercaptan reacts with other stagnate chemicals in the pipeline, forming a
blockage. To clear this slurry, operators began pumping hot water through the piping to try and
break it up. By noon on November 13th, operators deemed they had cleared the slurry. During the
hot water pumping, a valve was accidentally left opened, which allowed roughly 2,000 pounds of
water to flow into the methyl mercaptan feedline and storage tank. This... Show more content on

They decided to run hot water directly over top of the section of piping where the blockage was
located to try and bring the temperature up to 52В°F to melt the methyl mercaptan hydrate. They
would use pressure indicators along the piping to identify where the hydrate was as it began to
move along the piping. However, when they began this process, they closed a valve that would
have allowed methyl mercaptan to flow from the storage tank and into the shutdown reactor unit.
Due to this valve being closed, the methyl mercaptan that was being pumped from the storage tank
to try and help clear the blockage had only one place to go, and that was into the vent header

Pope Urban Viii By Gian Lorenzo Bernini
Furthermore, the Triton Fountain was specially made for Pope Urban VIII Barberini by Gian
Lorenzo Bernini. The fountain is placed at the center of the piazza; the fountain represents the
God of Sea with anthropomorphic body and huge fish tail, kneeling on an open shell supported by
the tails of four dolphins. The dolphins, leaning towards each of the four cardinal directions, open
their mouths to swallow the water of the surrounding pool, telling us that they drink up all the
waters of the world. The fins of the dolphins clutch the crown of Urban VIII, with papal tiara, keys
of St. Peter, and Barberinibees. Triton as the subject of this fountain is a very interesting choice.
According to many historical sources, Pope Urban VIIIwas a very talented poet, and he was very
recognized for his pursuits in this field, and Triton was someone who achieved a sacred unity with
nature and literature. And as we can see from the monument, the Triton was an appropriate public
monument to PopeUrban s distinguished literary accomplishments. On the other hand, this
explanation of the connection between Triton and Pope Urban is not effective, and unquestionably
doesn t give us full information. American art historian John Beldon Scott has established that
Urban was suspicious of pagan imagery for fear it might lead the faithful astray. This suggests that
the Triton Fountain may imply to something more significant than just the simple literary symbol.
Also, it is important to mention that at

Machiavelli s The Prince And Socrates
On the heels of the Peloponnesian war, Socrates was blamed for corrupting the youth and
disrespecting the Athenian gods and Athenian values. His defense or Apology and reaction after he
was sentenced to death in Crito demonstrate his most basic philosophy and ideals of what a
government should truly be like. Yet in a vastly different situation, Machiavelli, who lived during
the renaissance of Italy experienced constant shifts of power which he wrote his book, The Prince.
Machiavelli writes about how a leader or prince should conduct himself in order to keep and
efficiently run a republic or principality. Although Socrates texts on the surface deal with his
accusations, the texts give great insight as to how he thinks a government... Show more content on

18). A true prince in Machiavelli s eyes is someone that the nobles, people, army, and neighboring
states will be dependent on. To Machiavelli humans are by nature power hungry and greedy and
that as long as there is dependence on the prince whether it is due to heredity, fear, or a variety of
other factors, he will remain in power.
Socrates would view Machiavelli s concept of a prince as ignorant and built upon falsehoods as
seen through Machiavelli s explanations of holding new principalities. From the very start of The
Prince Machiavelli explains that hereditary principalities are always easier to rule, because of the
fact that it is sufficient only for the prince to maintain the customs of those who ruled before him
(Machiavelli, Ch. 2). In contrast Socrates in the Apology passionately fights against the status quo.
He likens himself to that as a gadfly of the Athenian state stinging the large horse great and noble
steed who is tardy in his motions owing to his very size, and requires to be stirred into life
(Apology, 30e). Socrates finds that a leader who grows content and maintains customs as those
before him is foolish as he does not think for himself. A truly enlightened prince would question and
challenge everything that comes his way. An enlightened prince would

Book Report On Technology And The Internet
This book is different than other books of the similar topics. Normally, when the topic of a book
is about technology or internet , it is difficult for the book to be written in a fun way because let s
face it; this topic itself is a little tedious. However, this book showed us a brand new way of talking
about Internet and the influence it has brought to our life. The way the author quoted the
researchers sentences and theories helped us to feel more willing to continue reading this book.
We used to read books to absorb new information or just kill time. It was a traditional way for us
to obtain knowledge and ideas of people around the world. Sometimes we spend several hours or
even days reading an interesting book just because we were attracted by some new thoughts.
However, the occurrence of computer and the internet has changed this. We have lost our patience
and interest in reading long articles and books. Instead, we prefer searching keywords online to
get what we want by skipping all the way. This change has drawn huge influence on the
development of the new generations. As the author has pointed out in the book, it was more
difficult to assign the students to read a whole book nowadays. Also, since we do not need to
actually write anything for most of time all we do is typing, on the cell phone, on the computer,
on the typewriter, and ect we forget words spelling from time to time because we haven t written
them for a log time. The effects of technology do

Father Barry On The Waterfront Pigeons And Pigeons
The Transformations of Pigeons and Hawks On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, is an
award winning, controversial film that portrays the symbols of hawks and pigeons. Pigeons are
seen as weak and fragile animals. Hawks, on the other hand, have eyes on the side of their head
and see everything around them. They are the birds on top of the food chain. Hawks may not be
able to transform into pigeons and pigeons may not be able to morph into hawks in the real
world, but some characters prove to be able to do the impossible. Father Barry is a character that
demonstrates how one can spread his weak pigeon wings and fly like a hawk. Contrarily, Johnny
Friendly shows how one can begin leading like a powerful hawk and subsequently lose their ability
to hunt in an instant becoming a scared, fragile pigeon.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

do not want to go to hell for all the things they have done. Father Barry decides to take matters

Separation Anxiety Disorders
There are several treatment options for separation anxiety disorder in children. The golden
standard treatment of separation anxiety and other anxiety disorders is cognitive behavioral
therapy, also known as CBT (Ehrenreich, Santucci, Weiner, 2008). There are a couple of goals for
this approach that involve both the child and parent (James, James, Cowdrey, Soler, Choke, 2015).
These researchers state that one of the goals is for the child to be able to recognize their own
anxious feelings and their physiological responses when they experience anxiety. Another goal is
for the child to have an ability to identify and control their thoughts during experiences that are
anxiety provoking for them. Therapists want children with separation... Show more content on

Also, referrals can be made by the therapist for different mental health services, since individuals
who end their CBT treatment often worry that they ll have the same symptoms. These services will
be helpful for children and adolescents with separation anxiety disorder, since there are high risks
of suicide within this population (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
There are different procedures for CBT that can help children with separation anxiety disorder. A
procedure within this therapeutic approach that is proven to work for children and adolescents with
separation and other anxiety disorders is systematic desensitization, which is an intervention that
decreases anxiety and fears within an individual (Friedberg McClure, 2015). The process usually
entails experiencing something that is anxiety provoking to a client and pairing it with a calming
technique such as relaxation. For this intervention to be successful, hierarchies of anxiety for the
client must be established so that they are being met and all aspects of anxiety must be understood
by the therapist. A cognitive treatment in CBT is imagery, which is a form of relaxation that is
used for decreasing stress and providing relief to the individual (Cully Teten, 2008). This
intervention focused on the individual to gain back physical, emotional, and cognitive control of
their thoughts, and is really affective for forms of anxiety.

Education And Vocational Achievements Of A School Cohort
Introduction
People vary greatly in their educational and vocational achievements. While educational
achievement has been examined in schools and tertiary settings, it is not always the case that the
original educational and vocational achievements of a school cohort have been followed because
there are certainly many other factors that affect people s result of achievement. According to
Holland (1997, p.13), there are many characteristics of a person and an environment that influence
educational and vocational development such as the age, gender, ethnicity, geography, social class,
physical assets or liabilities, educational level attained, intelligence and influence. By comparing
and contrasting males and females, this essay will focus on gender, in terms of schooling and
vocation, and how culture and social stereotypes affect male and female educational and
occupational pathways in Australia.
Gender as a function of society and culture
Gender is a cultural and social phenomenon that refers to constructed differences between men and
women. With western feminism which encompassed Marxist, radical and liberal feminist
frameworks gender was seen to operate both as a set of cultural understandings that represents what
it means to be a man or woman, and as a social variable that structures the opportunities and
pathways that men and women are expected to follow (Vickers, 2013, p.161). This phenomenon
appears both educationally and vocationally.
Gender stereotype

The Federal Government Of The United States
The federal government of the United States of America faces lots of challenges through their
operations. American citizens desire to witness several changes that can boost their lives under
different fields of life. It goes without being mentioned that the stiff economic competition on the
market in the current era plays a crucial role in mobilizing the masses to embrace or deter from
several existing issues. Therefore, different governments have to analyze the demands and pleas
of the local common citizens before implementing laws and specific management strategies. It is
essential to note that not all of the implemented strategies might positively affect the lives of the
common citizens. The leadership of a running government can be full self centered people who
might want to discriminate the weak in the society by making laws which favor their operations.
With this in mind, there is always a high probability of rebellion from people at the lower levels
in the society who protest for the stabilization of laws to fit in with their desires and demands. The
purpose of this paper is to highlight how protests from citizens have been part and parcel of politics
in the United Statesof America between the year1900 and 2010.
The United States of America is today a super power nation that controls major activities in the
entire globe. However, despite her superior status there are several historical social economic issues

Elizabeth Bennet Deception
Love: Deception for Two
Elizabeth Bennet in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice clearly struggles with admitting her
affection. Elizabeth maintains a stereotypical image that affiliates wealthy people with arrogance,
lack of compassion, and insolence. She is never impressed with Mr. Darcy because she is too
proud to admit she was wrong. Essentially, Elizabeth s pride and prejudice stand in between her one
chance at love.
Elizabeth and Darcy must avoid and surmount numerous differences in order for their relationship
to survive. For example, Darcy and Elizabeth need to overcome the faltering blocks of their ego
and bigotry. During their first encounter, Darcy s prejudice against Elizabeth s social standing

Elizabeth realizes that she has been played. Hindsight, Wickham s manners were actually bad: She

Lucent Technologies Supply Chain Of Asia
Lucent Technologies supply chain in Asia had many issues back in1996 and once it became
independent from AT T; some of which were long lead times, high cost, high inventories, poor
technical support for local Asian operations and its customers. This was a consequence of the
historical supply of Asia from the United States. The establishment of local Asian facilities was only
as an entry mean to the Asian market. Even though the facilities provided some high level assembly
and test, the supply chain was organized and centered on the U.S. leading to the problems
mentioned earlier. A change was required and thus a supply chain redesign was completed in 1996,
providing more Asian content. The change had a successful payback; however, developing changes
in the marketplace, in suppliers, and in the manufacturing environment suggested that the supply
chain was no longer optimal. At the start, forming the four joint ventures in Asia (Taiwan,
Indonesia, China, and India) was only an entry vehicle for Lucent into the Asian market and not
part of a manufacturing strategy. Nevertheless, Lucent had its share in the Asian market, was able
to manage its business there successfully, and did not have much of challenges. They were the
market leader in the U.S. for switching systems, and their flagship product the 5ESSВ® Switch was
the most reliable and widely used switching system around the world. Selling their product was

Rumen Gases
Of all ruminant animal types, (cattle, goats, and sheep), beef and dairy cattle are by far the largest
emitters of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. As part of their digestive process, cows produce
methane. An average cow in North America, which includes beef cows, bulls, calves, growing
steers/heifers, and feedlot cattle, eructs via belching 117 pounds (53 kilograms) of methane (CH4)
per head per year, according to 2006 guidelines from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change.
The ruminant animal is unique because of its four stomach compartments: reticulum, rumen,
omasum and abomasum. The function of the rumen as a fermentation vat and the presence of
certain bacteria promote the development of gases. These gases are found in the upper part of the
rumen with CO2 and CH4 making up the largest portion (Table 1).
The proportion of these gases is dependent on rumen ecology and fermentation balance. Typically,
the proportion of carbon dioxide is two to three times that of CH4, although a large quantity of
CO2 is reduced to CH4. The eructation of gases via belching is important in bloat prevention but is
also the way CH4 is emitted into the atmosphere. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC), methane is more than 20 times as effective as CO2 at trapping heat in the
atmosphere/ global warming potential. The U.S.

Recommendation
Maria and Jason, along with Robert and Elizabeth, must focus first on the initial setup of the
organizational structure and the tax consequences on the corporation and individually before
addressing the other factors of the organization, which are simple and easily addressed by
discussing individual and group objectives. The first point to address is the IRC Section 351
limitation of 80% control of the corporation. Maria nor Jason are interested in decreases their
control of the corporation and the best approach is for Robert and Elizabeth to contribute their

best for Robert and Elizabeth to reevaluate their proposed transactions in order minimize the tax
consequences. The IRC Section 351 limitation only pertains to an even exchange of property,

The second factor concerning the corporation is confidentiality and data security. Conversations

The Latina women, even throughout the era resistance cinema, have not been able to make much
progress in overcoming the degrading stereotypes that Hollywood has created for them. Despite the
many advances that minorities have made in the cinema in recent years, Latina actresses still take
on the roles of the dark skinned lady and other such stereotypes with strong sexual connotations. It
is often debatable whether or not the role of the Latina has undergone dramatic changes since the
days of Dolores Del Rio and Carmen Miranda dancing with the fruit baskets on top of their heads.

This character began to appear in the 1930 s, at the same time that an audio component was
introduced into cinema. The audience was not however interested in the voice of the vamp but
rather for her appearance and sex appeal. She was often depicted as exotic and sensual. As Tara
Osorio writes, In early cinema, Hollywood represented Latinas as ignorant, and valued their
striking appearance and figure rather than their intelligence, character, and personalities. (Tara
Osorio) With the introduction of musicals into cinema, there were many opportunities for vamp
roles. There were three particular women in early cinema who were infamous for portraying the
vamp character. Carmen Miranda, Dolores Del Rio, and Lupe Velez were typecast in such roles
and were seen in the majority of films produced in these decades.
This character represented an image that was offensive and insulting to many. The character did
not have many diverse elements and was a rather one dimensional figure. It was even more
damaging when you take into account that the same role was repeated, often by the same actress

Globalization Film Essay s
Captain Philips
March 28, 2016
Challenging Globalization One of the most important challenges facing the world today is
globalization (Lewis, Martin and others, 4). In the film, Captain Philips, globalization is tested,
and pushed past its limits. The film is a great example of how a situation can take a turn for the
worst if globalization is not allowed. The movie has little number of symbols, but they are
significant. In the film, globalization can be viewed as a big picture, and be narrowed down
between to people. In addition, globalization shapes the character together, and then pushes them
down different paths. The process of globalization in Captain Philips can be viewed as one big

Throughout the film the pirate leader Muse and Captain Philips change is the same way. They
both start out strong and prepared. Both captains also have some of the same ethics. They both
are hard workers wanting to get their job done the fast, and the easiest way possible. As the
pirates attack, Muse and Philips are shaped the same way. They want what is best for them and
their people. This shows globalization because even though the captains are different nationalities,
they both want to connect with one another making the situation better for them and there people.
As the film continues the shaping of the two characters change. Philips succeeded in getting his
crew out of harm s way, but Muse and his band of pirates are still in danger with the Navy. This
action ends up shaping the characters in different direction. Philips can have some sort of piece
knowing that his crew members are out of harm s way. Muse on the other hand is still in intense

The accounting fraud made HealthSouth became a member of that disreputable group
(Henselmann Hormann 2010). In 2001, HealthSouth agreed to pay $7.9 million to settle Medicare
fraud allegation on overcharged assets. Trading in the securities of HealthSouth s shares was
suspended for two business days by SEC due to the materially misleading information in the
marketplace (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission 2003).
Fifteen former executives of HealthSouth, including all five of its recent Chief Financial Officers

A Report On The Price Of The Dollar
Following the Brexit vote on the 23rd of June 2016, the pound fell to 31 year low against the
dollar, falling from $1.50 to $1.33 in a matter of hours. The sharp devaluation of the pound against
the dollar made AB InBev s all cash offer unattractive to SAB s shareholders, who were to be
compensated in sterling, and made the partial share alternative a lot more attractive. Therefore,
SAB stakeholders, excluding Altria and BevCo, rejected the offer, threatening to drop the deal.
Eventually, after strenuous negotiations, on the 25th of July AB s board agreed to raise the offer
once more:
The All cash consideration was raised by ВЈ1 to a total of ВЈ45 per SAB share. The revised offer

In order to reach an agreement with the numerous Competition Commissions, AB InBev agreed to

To appease the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, AB agreed to cede its 58% ownership of the

To appease the European Commission, based in Brussels, AB agreed to give up practically all of

Peroni, Grolsh and Meantime to the Japanese brewer for $2.5 billion and, a short time later, also
sold another four brands such as Pilsner Urquell and Tiskie for $7.8 billion.
Finally, to appease the Ministry of Commerce of the People s Republic of China, Ab Agreed to

Persuasive Water Crisis
Summer is just around the corner, and with it will come the usual high temperatures and sweaty
afternoons. It s this time of year that you find yourself using a bit more water than normal,
whether to wash off or rehydrate. And few things are more enjoyable than coming inside on a
stifling summer afternoon to drink a cool glass of water before heading to the shower to freshen
up. That said, few things are more discouraging than filling up your glass of water to see not a
crystal clear liquid float up to the brim but instead what looks like a discolored puddle pouring into
your cup, maybe with bits of unidentifiable particles haphazardly swimming about. This image is
neither appealing to your parched tongue nor your in need of a shower body. It s pretty evident that
something is wrong with your water supply, and that it s been contaminated somehow or another.
But what happened? If you hire a professional... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It essentially means that there is no valve to control the flow of water from the city s public
water supply and your own, allowing for contamination of both systems. There are two specific
types of this undesirable problem backpressure and backsiphonage. Backpressure problems are
caused when the downstream pressure is greater than the upstream or supply pressure from the
public water system; this scenario occurs from either an increase in downstream pressure, a
decrease in water supply pressure, or a combination of the two. Backsiphonage is, as you have
probably figured out, just the opposite of backpressure that is, it arises from negative pressure in
the public water system. Backsiphonage typically occurs when there is a notable stoppage of
water supply to other systems due to a fire hydrant being in use or a break in the water main.
Without getting too technical, the long and short of this is that neither of these are good news for
the sanitation of your water

Hence, the weighted average dollars spent on concessions is $8.55. Another constrain is
Buckingham must receive a no less than 39% profit margin from the concessions operation. Next,
the identification of total concessions revenue is to use the actual number of people will attend a
certain match, also take the example of the price segment $8, 5,550 audience will actual go, times
the weighted average concessions expenditure ($8.555), and multiples the 39% profit margin, so
the revenue from concessions is $92,591 for the price level $10.
The last stage is to sum the revenue from ticket sales and concessions ($321,469), which is the
total revenue if you set the 5 game ticket at $8. In Exhibit 4, the bat chart directly demonstrates the
different revenue based on different price segment. The optimal price for 5 game ticket should be
set at $8, which could bring the largest revenue compared with other price segments.
The same logic could also be applied to other ticket types. So, again, our bleacher seat price scheme
is (10% more grandstand seat): One game Ticket: $10 per game
5 game Ticket: $8 per game (package ticker price $40)
20 game Ticket: $6 per game (package ticker price $120)
38 game Ticket: $4 per game (package ticker price $152)

The And Criminal Justice System Essay
Introduction
When comparing real life experiences to book theories there can be a lot of things that are not
the same. One real experience to be found similar to a book experience and deals with a lot of
the same things is CASA to Courts and Criminal Justice in America. They both deal with
Advocates, Attorneys, Judges, courts, etc. There are always different scenarios to be faces in
person than what is in the books. Do books really portray everything that that happens in the real
world, or describe every job description and duties that a job title entails? Book experience and life
experiences more often than not have the same concept but they may not portray everything the
same. Also they serve different and similar functions as well.
Advocate Roles
Advocates are an essential role for juveniles in the criminal justice system. Their role is to speak
up for people in situations where the advocate is either more knowledgeable, will suffer no
consequences by speaking out, and where they can be a buffer for their client.
(Criminaljusticeprograms.com, 2013) CASA (court appointed special advocate) / GAL (Guardian
ad Litem) is a trained volunteer appointed by a judge to represent the best interest of children in
cases that come before the court due to alleged abuse or neglect. 600,000+ children pass through
the U.S. foster care and family court system annually. The average child will spend nearly 2 years
in foster care, and on average those children will change homes three times.

The Trickster of Hamelin
The Trickster of Hamelin The story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin comes in the form of a poem
by Robert Browning. A poem which has been retold countless times, and has been used for
inspiration in many other literary works. The primary theme of the story is to The folly of man .
The secondary themes to support this are Greed, the loss of a generation of children, and the
suggestion of heaven to which the children go. This retelling of this story, in the form of a film
focuses on the story from the viewpoint of the pied piper instead of the villagers. The summary
of the original poem is as followed. The town of Hamelin in Brunswick is introduced and it is
told that there was a serious vermin problem 500 years ago. Rats overran the city to the point
where the villagers demanded the mayor and the councilmen that the rats be gotten rid of. The
mayor cannot find a way to get rid of the rats until a stranger whom says he can t in odd clothing
arrives at the village. The stranger says that he can fix the rodent problem by using a secret
charm and asks for money in return, to which the mayor agrees to pay. The piper proceeds lead the
rats out of the town by using his magical instrument and returns to the mayor for his reward, to
which the mayor refuses to pay the full amount saying that he did not kill the rodents. The piper
continues down the street and starts to play his flute again, but this time charms the local children.

Evaluation Of An Integrated Lesson Plan
Through the lesson plans that we developed, I ve learned how to implement art that is
developmentally appropriate, meaningful, and challenging for students. The integration of art must
be meaningful to the lesson but also challenging for the students. The integrated lesson plan must
also consider a diverse classroom, allowing all students equal access to what is being taught. Most
importantly, art experiences must help each child meet challenging and achievable learninggoals. As
teachers, we must observe and assess each individual student in order to design an integrated lesson
plan that is appropriate, meaningful, and challenging. (GPO2) Evaluation of individual child s
development and learning is essential for planning and implementing appropriate curriculum.
Teachers must continually engaging in observational assessment for the purpose of improving
teaching and learning. Designing integrated lessons lead to positive learning outcomes. By
integrating art, music, dance, and movement in lessons it leads to a positive learning environment
because it allows students to get out of their comfort zone. This can help boost children to be
confident and accepting of themselves and each other. Another plus of integrating the artsinto
curriculum is that it can allow all students to learn in a way that may be more favorable to them.
Studies have proven that students learn in multiple ways. These learning styles include; visual,
auditory, and kinesthetic. By allowing the arts to be

Critical Incidents Of Academic Institutions
Critical Incidents in Academic Institutions The critical incident technique is used to gather and
analyze an employees behavior through methods such as observation and interviews (Andersson
Nilsson,1964). This technique is useful in collecting information regarding behavior that amounts
to successful or unsuccessful in a performance (Peterson, Jeanneret, 2007). The procedures utilized
in the critical incident techniqueallows for the similarities, differences and patterns of behaviors to
be analyzed. This process aids in the solving of problems, and establishing principles (Hughes,
Williamson, Lloyd, 2007; Flanagan, 1954). According to Shapira Lishchinsky (2010), utilizing
critical incident reports in schools assist in enabling the management of errors, support and
autonomy, which in turn reduces ethical friction. In regard to the schoolsetting, critical incidents
include minor incidents that occur daily in schools. Because of the nature of the job, middle
school teachers can face critical incidents that involve both moral and ethical conflict (Shapira
Lishchinsky, 2010). However, the classification or weather it is negative or positive is based on
the meaning given by a teacher, observer, etc. Nonetheless, critical incidents and behaviors are
important to identify as it can be detrimental to a teachers professional career (Shapira Lishchinsky,
2010). One example of a positive critical incident for the middle school teacher is teachers who

Critical Analysis of a Passage from Horace Walpole s...
Horace Walpole s The Castle of Otranto, is acknowledged by many as the first gothic novel. It
was the first of it s kind and many of the conventions used by Walpole, which put it in a literary
genre of it s own, were continued by authors such as Ann Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis. Many of
these defining characteristics can be seen within the very first few pages of the text and for the
purposes of this essay, to identify some of these conventions used and the relevance of this text to
modernity I shall focus this analysis on the passage between pages twenty four and twenty six from
the Oxford World s Classics edition.
The gothic novel emerged during the late eighteenth century and the Age of Enlightenment , which

In Otranto, Walpole challenges his societies views of modernity and transgresses social laws by
introducing the theme of incest into his novel with Manfred preying of his deceased son s
betrothed, Isabella. This brings into play three defining features which became prevalent within
gothic novels of the late eighteenth century: women in distress; women being threatened by
powerful males; and the major theme of fear and in this example, specifically female fear.
Isabella, a young, virginal woman becomes half dead with fright when faced with potential rape
and becoming a spoiled woman at the hands of the powerful and threatening Manfred. Such
suggestions, by Walpole s age were seen as scandalous and caused moral outrage, a thread that
was carried through the gothic genre. This new genre may have provided for many, an escape
from the rigid world of enlightenment. It brought to them a world of imagination and allowed
them to immerse themselves in a world which had been morally forbidden and they could do it
from the privacy of their own homes, allowing their indulgence, and perhaps, immoral thoughts to
go unnoticed, providing a way for the darkness and immoral thoughts to come alive outside of
the novel. At the end of the novel however, society s moral ideals surface as Manfred retires to a
convent after the realisation of his sins and order is restored. In this way, although Walpole is
exposing his readers to these ideas, he would

oldest patrol strategies (Ortmeier 2006, p233). The men and women that protect the rivers, lakes,

the waterways need policing also. They provide access to many ports and inlets that could be used

The Battle Of Milne Bay
During World War Two, Australian involvement in battles such as Milne Bay, in the Pacific theatre
during 1942, contributed significantly to the course of the War. intro The Battle of Milne Bay was
fought from August 25 to September 7 and was one of the most vital land battles protecting the
Australian land mass from the Japanese that Australians have ever conducted. Milne Bay is located
on the eastern tail of New Guinea. In May 1942, this area became of interest to senior Allied
officers, when General Douglas MacArthurmade the decision to establish an airbase here, so that
aircraft could control over the eastern seaward approaches. It was in July 1942, that development
of the first airstrips began at Milne Bay. Australian infantry and American engineers were sent to
begin clearing land for the airstrips and the base here would support them. During the following
weeks, more ships with men arrived, also bringing more supplies and equipment for base
development. The objective of the Allieswas to maintain these land positions from Japanese hold as

Effects Of Communist Manifesto On Human Values
The Effects of Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto on Human Values
What was it like living in the times before the Communist Manifesto was introduced to society?
What kind of affect did this document have on the values of the average family? How did it
influence the values of the individual? Sometimes these values where affected in a way that does
not come directly from the release of the Manifesto but instead vicariously through other events
brought on by the document. Overall, an interesting topic to look at is what it meant to be human in

Likewise, many of the old workers had been thrown out of employment, 3 and these numbers only
grew into the year of 1848. In a way Marx talks about this problem in the Communist Manifesto. In
this document, Marx introduced his idea to incorporate socialism into the government before
communism. This is mainly because socialism would prepare the way by nationalizing the
means of production and putting them under the control of those he viewed as the sole
producers of wealth: the workers. 4 This would take the control out of the hands of the wealthy
and it would be given to those people that had been the poorest in the previous years. His goal
was to get the common people to have a changed view of work once they started to be in charge
of the producing of goods. This way, there would be no rich and no poor, only economic equality
would result.
Marx was intent on the subject of human change. Marx was often confronted with the charge that
he was trying to change human nature. However, his rebuttal was that human nature [had] changed
many times in the past, 5 and that it was possible to change it again. He acknowledged that it
would have to be a gradual change, but it was able to change. After all, we as humans are products
of our environment, particularly of the economic system in which we live. 6 The government and

Essay On Plasma Collisionality
The relationship between plasma collisionality and intermittency has been investigated for density
and potential fluctuations in the stellarator TJ K, as well as with Hasegawa Wakatani simulations.
The intermittency level was determined in experiments using two methods. First, the scale
separated kurtosis analysis consisted of applying a wavelettransform to density and potential time
series and calculating the kurtosis of the wavelet coefficients at a chosen frequency scale, (

elections.
Theory: Voter turnout in local elections is relatively low compared to state and federal elections.
Research that has been done on local level turnout has largely focused on institutional influences,
such as nonpartisan elections, the form of government and timing of elections (Karnig and Walter,
1983; Marschall, 2010; Hajnal and Lewis, 2003). One aspect that has been missing is campaign
influence on local mayoral election turnout. The influence of campaigns on turnout has primarily
focused on presidential and congressional races (Holbrook and McClurg, 2005). Local elections are
useful in that voters preexisting information of the elections and candidates are quite low and
additional information from campaigns would reduce information costs associated with voting ...

Fanny in Jane Austen s Mansfield Park Essay

(MARY POOVEY) DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS READING OF FANNY amp;#8217;S ROLE
IN amp;#8216;MANSFIELD PARK amp;#8217;
Mansfield Park has sometimes been considered as atypical of Jane Austen as being solemn and
moralistic. Poor Fanny Price is brought up at Mansfield Park with her uncle and aunt. Where only
her cousin Edmund helps her with the difficulties she suffers from the rest of the family, and from
her own fearfulness and timidity. When the sophisticated Crawfords (Henry and Mary) visit the
Mansfield neighbourhood, the moral sense of each marriageable member of the Mansfield family
is tested in various ways, but Fanny emerges unscathed.
We need to look at the way Austen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may be moderated by the history of displacement Jane Austen has provided for Fanny: the
years of intimidation she has endured from Mrs Norris and her dependence on Edmund, whose
kindness comes with instructions for her of how she should behave.
Fanny has a disapproving attitude towards Mary. We are never sure whether this is due to Fanny
amp;#8217;s morals or her jealousy of the way Edmund is fixated with her.
As a result of Edmunds amp;#8217; coaching, Fanny amp;#8217;s moral attitudes in general are
over determined, so it is quite easy for us to think of her as modelling a amp;#8216;conduct manual

Show How Transactions in Derivatives Can Be Used to Either...
Economics of the Financial System
Show how transactions in derivatives can be used to either hedge risk or to open speculative
positions.
Derivatives have become popular in response to the increasing volatility and complexity of
financial markets. A diverse range of new financial products have been created to enable market
participants to handle the risks arising from trade in securities and to speculate on future expected
movements in securities prices, without direct trade in the assets themselves. Derivative contract
creates a promise to deliver or trade an underlying product at some time in the future. The contract
gives one party a claim on an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If stock prices plunge over this period, the index will fall as well, and so will the futures contract on
the index in response. Amana will profit on its future position, because the future price paid at
which the index is sold will be less than price paid for the index at settlement date.
After a month, the stock market falls as anticipated, and the futures price of the DJIA is at an
index level of 19,000. DJIA futures contract are rated at ВЈ10 the DJIA index, so Amana stands to
gain. Sold DJIA futures for 20,000; receives 20,000 times ВЈ10 =ВЈ200,000 Purchased DJIA
futures for 19,000; owes 19,000 times ВЈ10 =ВЈ190,000 Gain is ВЈ200,000 ВЈ190,000 = ВЈ10,000
This shows that Amana benefits from selling a DJIA futures contract. Amana has gained from a
market decline, which can partially counterbalance the loss on its existing stock portfolio.
However, to hedge a huge stock of portfolio, Amana would have to take a short position that had a
value equal to the size of its entire stock portfolio.
Options give one party the right, but not the obligation, to buy (or sell) at a set price on an agreed
future date. Future Contracts are a means of avoiding risk but at the cost of eliminating opportunity.
A trader may prefer to hedge risks through options so he can take advantage of an unexpected

Specializing in auto mobiles, Tata started losing focus on its niche and went on to acquire new
businesses in completely different industries massively. This included plans to invest $28 billion in
steel, autos, telecom, power, chemicals, and more. Unfortunately, the lack of central strategy
resulted in investments on the wrong industries, such as the Tata Teleservices (TTSL), a mobile
telephony business. It yielded the worse negative margins amongst the whole of Tata Group s
businesses (Pannu, Singh, 2013 ). Another separate industry has it that Tata Steel was loaded with
$7.4billion of liability for the acquisition of Corus. On its core auto mobile business, Tata Motors
now owned the American high end Jaguar and Land Rover (PTI, 2015), which requires its
attention to bring the brands back to heights when they were once owned by Ford Motors. Central
strategy is crucial for the allocation of resources at the right time to right

Globalisation and China’s Environmental Problems Essay
Is the lifestyle of people in Europe and the USA a major cause of China s environmental problems?
One of China s best successes has in turn been one of its biggest downfalls. One of the main
problems is China s greatest success which has been its phenomenal economic growth. This is one
of the main drivers of the current environmental problems that the country faces. Factories dump
pollutants into the air and water. It is difficult to see the Chinese government making the significant
sacrifices required to improve their environment if it means slowing down their economic growth.
In order to understand why China is in such environmental difficulties we need to understand why
the lifestyles of people in Europe and the US could be to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These two areas are a result of increased industrialisation to keep up with the rapid growth in
Chinas export. One major external driver is outside influences such as the US, by the demanding
lower products and goods, manufacturers are forced to reduce any environmental safeguards
that they had in place. An example of this is when a textiles mill in southern China was caught
dumping 22,000 tons of contaminated water from its dyeing operation each day turning the
whole river dark red. Another driver behind behaviour such as this is the ever growing discount
clothing chain stores. Prices on fabric and clothing have fallen by 25% since 1995 and the
particular article this was taken from was put together back in 2007. The discount clothing giants
have become even more cut throat and competitive over the last few years. This behaviour is
what has made China a huge export giant but has cost them so much more. The inflated prices you
may pay elsewhere take into consideration the cost of manufacturing and all the other associated
costs in production and safe removal of industrial waste. From China a great deal of the time you
are paying simply for the product or service and not to cover the costs of environmental safeguard.
By 2006 there were 6000 registered environmental groups in China. They are growing in numbers,
influence and assertiveness. These groups are made up of people that are now beginning to
understand the consequences of rapid growth and

Coyote, Skunk, and the Prairie Dogs
While I find it rather creative to imagine a skunk and a coyote to conspire together to murder
prairie dogs and rabbits, and although I feel I am doing a disservice to hundreds of years of
Navaho storytellers, I am going to attempt to creatively edit parts of the story Coyote, Skunk,
and Prairie Dogs as a written works, and retool it so that it makes more sense as a modern
children s fairy tale. Not that children would be interested in a story about killing and eating
prairie dogs, but I am going to attempt to keep the plot, storyline and outcome as similar to the
Navaho trickster tale as possible.
Some things that I feel could be improved is the story needs more description of the events for better

There were rabbits and other animals and even ground squirrels. Those animals that are food for Ma

First Golizhii said, It s true, it s true! Let s have one of you fast runners run over there to find out.
Then Jackrabbit ran there and ran back saying, It s true!
Then Cottontail ran there and, It s true! he said, running back.
Then Prairie Dog ran, and, It s true! he said running back.
At that time there was a big gathering around Ma ii s body. They were dancing. The hated one is
dead, they were saying. The club is beside him; they were hitting him in the ribs.
Then they continued their celebrating, and more and more animal people came.
Then that evil Golizhii remembered Ma ii s plan. When you all are dancing, while you are looking
up, while you are saying, you say, Dance in that manner, you tell them while you re in charge there,
shilna ash, he had said.
All the small animals were dancing.
Then: Waay up there something is moving by overhead, Golizhii pointed out.
When they were all looking up, Golizhii sprayed upward so that his urine fell in their eyes.
The animals were rubbing his urine from their eyes. Oh, so the one who is hated is dead, is he?
Ma ii said jumping up.
He grabbed the clubs from under him. He used the clubs on them. They were all clubbed to death.

Half Life Lab Report
In this experiment we will explore the meaning of half life. We will accomplish this by getting a
handful of un popped popcorn and cooking them in a pan. We will count how long it takes for
half of the popcorn to pop. In this experiment un popped popcorn will resemble a radioactive
nucleus whilst popped nuclei will resemble non radioactive nuclei. When the popcorn is popped
it means that the nucleus is stable. In this experiment, we discovered that we cannot predict
when half of the radioactive nuclei when disappear the first time over although when the first
half life occurs we are able to calculate the half life in the future. Half life is the amount of time
taken for half of the radioactive nuclei to disappear. In this experiment we decided to put 16
pieces of popcorn in a pot and then counted the seconds it took before they popped. The time it
took for the number of un popped popcorn to half from 16 to 8 was 19 seconds. It then went from 8
to 4 in 13 seconds, 4 to 2 in 12 seconds and lastly 2 to 1 in 10 seconds. This made us come to the
conclusion that the average half life of this experiment was 13.5 seconds.... Show more content on

Queen Victoria s Impact On The British Queen
Who was Queen Victoria and what impact did she make? Queen Victoria took the British throne
at a young age, she was only a teenager. She became the first british monarch only at the age of
18. She may have been young but she had great intelligence and that s the reason she took the
throne of the world s mightiest empires. Queen Victoria was the longest reigning British
monarch, ruling the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for 64 years. She was fiercely
independent and she strengthened the monarchy by redefining its role in British life. Victoria s
mother (the duchess of Kent) raised Victoria in an environment where she could prepare her to
take the throne. Victoria first learned of her future role as a young princess during a history
lesson when she was 10 years old. She did not allow her to have any privacy, in fact she even
shared a bedroom with her. Victoria became third in the line of succession to the throne after the
duke of York died in 1827. On Tuesday, June 1837 Queen Victoria was woken by her mother and
was told that Archbishop of Canterbury and Lord Conyngham were there to see her. She was
informed that her uncle, the king had passed away. Victoria was informed she was now queen at
the same time delivering the official announcement of the poor King s demise. Queen Victoria was
ready to take the throne, she had full confidence. The queen, who had never before had a room to
herself, exiled her mother to apartments when they moved into Buckingham

The Prince Of Tides, By Susan Lowenstein
Ethics is something we all face at some point in our lives and in social work, we will be running
into ethical dilemmas on an everyday basis. The Prince of Tides is an insightful movie, every
minute of it left me with my eyes glued to the screen. Although, this movie does have some minor
problems within the plot. Prince of Tides is a movie about a grown woman named Savannah
Wingo and she struggles with suicide and depression. She lives in New York while her brother,
Tom Wingo, lives in South Carolina. She attempts suicide once again and the psychiatrist requests
that Tom come to New York to visit Savannah. Tom arrives in New York and instantly becomes
involved in Savannah s case and the psychiatrist, Susan Lowenstein. While trying to... Show more

Lowenstein should not have shared that kind of information to her husband. This kind of behavior
violates the Code of Ethics and can result in a loss of her license.
Another strong ethical issue was the huge confidentiality issues that involves Susan and
Savannah s family. Susan reveals information about Savannah s sessions while she was still in a
medically induced coma, so clearly there was not permission to do so from Savannah or from a
legal stance. The Code of Ethics prohibits this kind of behavior and as a social worker is not
acceptable.
Fourth ethical issue I spotted was the relationship was deepened when Dr. Lowenstein asked
Tom to coach her son in football. This is an indicator of a dual relationship that should be
prohibited. Football is a contact sport and this created a relationship between Tom and Susan s
son. The relationship escalated as Tom and the son we rolling around in the grass and became
close as summer went on. This is an unreasonable distance between client and Susan s personal
life. If this was a social work colleague, my ethical responsibility would to be consider both
parties and approach the colleague to gather information and get a better understanding of the
situation. Also, it would be a good idea to check the agencies work policies just to make sure this
is a violation. If it is it might be a good idea to let the supervisor of the agency know what has been
happening so the supervisor is not completely

Ticket Prices
The article Ticket Price Determination in Professional Sports: An Empirical Analysis of the
NBA, NFL, NHL, and Major League Baseball. was researched and created by two economists
named, Patrick Rishe and Michael Mondello. The basis of this article was to analyze why the
prices of tickets tend to vary from city to city within each league and also to provide the reader
with information regarding whether ticket price increases are tied to changes in team payroll.
Rishe and Mondello created and empirical model to get a more precise measurement than that of
regressions done in the past. With this analysis Rishe and Mondello wanted to understand the
impacts of salary caps on ticket price within a league so they involved two leagues without a salary
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going forward, one of the most notable findings in this regression is the significance of team
payroll and ticket prices for the NHL. One might expect these two variables to be correlated
since there is no salary cap, but in fact in the early stages of the test period Rishe and Mondello
discovered that the NBA, despite having a salary cap, has a larger payroll dispersion than the
NHL. NHL s payroll dispersion is relatively stable, which could be the reason why this variable is
statically insignificant. Recent success has had more of an impact on the NBA and the NFL
compared to the NHL and MLB. This might be due to the strong correlation between winning
and payrolls in cap free sports. To conclude the average ticket prices has had a strong upward
trend in football and baseball, on the other hand the NHL and NBA seem stagnate possibly due
to consumer preference in the last six years. The second equation in this trial explains the factors
that cause seasonal price changes within each league. Once again playing in a new facility for a
season opener suggests the size of seasonal price tickets will increase for an individual team in
any league. The second factor in this equation is the team s post season success, the result
showed that for a team in any league that made it to the playoffs significantly raised ticket prices.
Additionally, the ticket prices rose for only the NHL and NFL if a team reached the
championship. Over the period of time examined NBA and NHL teams displayed a smaller ticket
price increase seasonally, due to the stagnate demand to watch those two

Ceremony Of Loss Essay
When the first ceremony took place, a couple was given a male newchild named Caleb as a
replacement child. To begin with, according to The Giver, the first Caleb, who was 4 years old,
wandered away unnoticed, and had fallen into a river, and had died. As a result, the Ceremony of
Loss occurred, which is murmuring the name throughout the whole day, less often, quieter, so that
the child is forgotten. To add on, this incident shows that the community tried to eliminate any
dangerous situations because perhaps the death of the first Caleb could cause problems by
frightening the rest of the community and in an attempt to to prevent this, they make sure the child
who died, in this case, is forgotten. The text, The Giver, says, Loss of a child... Show more content

Like usual, they forgot about what happened, even if it s a death. To continue on, they had a
special order in which the community marked the first Caleb s loss and the new Caleb s
placement. When the first Caleb died, they had the Ceremony of Loss, which was when they
completely forgot about him and as stated by The Giver, so that the little Four seemed to fade
away gradually from everyone s consciousness. This explains that slowly, they erased a child from
their minds because they didn t want to face the fact that you can t protect everyone from
everything and that not everything will stay the same forever. They marked the new Caleb s
replacement by performing another ceremony known as the Murmur of Replacement. This was
directly the opposite of the Ceremony of Loss, and instead of the name slowly disappearing, it
gradually became imprinted into everyone s minds once more. The community murmured it quietly
and slowly, and progressively, their voices became louder and

Concrete Gravity Dams Table of Contents Table of Contents1 1.Introduction2 2.Literature Review2 3.Classification Techniques in Machine Learning3 3.1 K nearest Neighbor3 3.2 Support Vector Machine4 3.3 NaГЇve Bayes Classifier5 References8 Introduction Dams are important structures to supply water for irrigation or drinking, to control flood, and to generate electricity. The safety analysis of concrete gravity dams in seismic regions is significant due to the high potential of life and economic losses if these buildings fail. Many of existing dams were built using outdated analysis methods and lack of knowledge (Bernier 2016). In the design of many existing dams, dam water foundation interactions affecting the earthquake response were not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another study is carried out by Gaspar et al. in order to investigate the effects of uncertainties of dam properties. A thermos mechanical model was developed to define the behavior. Classification Techniques in Machine Learning The classification of the data is the problem to observe new numbers of discrete categories. The aim is to learn a model making accurate predictions on new observations based on a set of data points. For example, for the observations set, x1, ..., xn, the corresponding categories, y1, ..., yn, where yi в€€{ 1, +1}. Here, yi= 1 refers to category of failure region, and yi=+1 refers to safe region. A new observation, x value, is assigned to one of these categories. The three popular classification techniques are explained: (1) K nearest neighbor (KNN), (2) support vector machine (SVM), and (3) naГЇve Bayes classifier (NBC). The given algorithms here include both deterministic and probabilistic classification approaches. 3.1 K nearest Neighbor In the machine learning, one of the simplest method for classification is the K nearest neighbor algorithm. Given a new observation xв€€R, K training observations from the rows of the Xtm closest in distance to x are found. After that, using the mainstream division among these K nearest observations from the training set, x is classified. Consequently, the performance of KNN algorithm depends on the choice of K and the algorithm is sensitive to local structure of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Dupot Pipeline Tragedy The horrible tragedy at the DuPont Chemical Plant in La Porte, Texas, which ended in four innocent people losing their lives, began roughly 5 days prior to the accident. It was November 10, 2014, when a reactor in the plants Lannate unit, an insecticide DuPont produces for many agricultural purposes, went down for an unscheduled maintenance. Lannate is produced by reacting toxic methyl mercaptan with other chemicals. Two days later on November 12th, after all the up keep was taken care of on the reactor, they tried to start it up again. They were unsuccessful in starting up the reactor, and further investigation revealed a slurry blocking any passage through the pipelines which lead to the reactor. However, slurries were a very common thing during shutdowns. They form when methyl mercaptan reacts with other stagnate chemicals in the pipeline, forming a blockage. To clear this slurry, operators began pumping hot water through the piping to try and break it up. By noon on November 13th, operators deemed they had cleared the slurry. During the hot water pumping, a valve was accidentally left opened, which allowed roughly 2,000 pounds of water to flow into the methyl mercaptan feedline and storage tank. This... They decided to run hot water directly over top of the section of piping where the blockage was located to try and bring the temperature up to 52В°F to melt the methyl mercaptan hydrate. They would use pressure indicators along the piping to identify where the hydrate was as it began to move along the piping. However, when they began this process, they closed a valve that would have allowed methyl mercaptan to flow from the storage tank and into the shutdown reactor unit. Due to this valve being closed, the methyl mercaptan that was being pumped from the storage tank to try and help clear the blockage had only one place to go, and that was into the vent header ... • 5. Pope Urban Viii By Gian Lorenzo Bernini Furthermore, the Triton Fountain was specially made for Pope Urban VIII Barberini by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The fountain is placed at the center of the piazza; the fountain represents the God of Sea with anthropomorphic body and huge fish tail, kneeling on an open shell supported by the tails of four dolphins. The dolphins, leaning towards each of the four cardinal directions, open their mouths to swallow the water of the surrounding pool, telling us that they drink up all the waters of the world. The fins of the dolphins clutch the crown of Urban VIII, with papal tiara, keys of St. Peter, and Barberinibees. Triton as the subject of this fountain is a very interesting choice. According to many historical sources, Pope Urban VIIIwas a very talented poet, and he was very recognized for his pursuits in this field, and Triton was someone who achieved a sacred unity with nature and literature. And as we can see from the monument, the Triton was an appropriate public monument to PopeUrban s distinguished literary accomplishments. On the other hand, this explanation of the connection between Triton and Pope Urban is not effective, and unquestionably doesn t give us full information. American art historian John Beldon Scott has established that Urban was suspicious of pagan imagery for fear it might lead the faithful astray. This suggests that the Triton Fountain may imply to something more significant than just the simple literary symbol. Also, it is important to mention that at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Machiavelli s The Prince And Socrates On the heels of the Peloponnesian war, Socrates was blamed for corrupting the youth and disrespecting the Athenian gods and Athenian values. His defense or Apology and reaction after he was sentenced to death in Crito demonstrate his most basic philosophy and ideals of what a government should truly be like. Yet in a vastly different situation, Machiavelli, who lived during the renaissance of Italy experienced constant shifts of power which he wrote his book, The Prince. Machiavelli writes about how a leader or prince should conduct himself in order to keep and efficiently run a republic or principality. Although Socrates texts on the surface deal with his accusations, the texts give great insight as to how he thinks a government... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 18). A true prince in Machiavelli s eyes is someone that the nobles, people, army, and neighboring states will be dependent on. To Machiavelli humans are by nature power hungry and greedy and that as long as there is dependence on the prince whether it is due to heredity, fear, or a variety of other factors, he will remain in power. Socrates would view Machiavelli s concept of a prince as ignorant and built upon falsehoods as seen through Machiavelli s explanations of holding new principalities. From the very start of The Prince Machiavelli explains that hereditary principalities are always easier to rule, because of the fact that it is sufficient only for the prince to maintain the customs of those who ruled before him (Machiavelli, Ch. 2). In contrast Socrates in the Apology passionately fights against the status quo. He likens himself to that as a gadfly of the Athenian state stinging the large horse great and noble steed who is tardy in his motions owing to his very size, and requires to be stirred into life (Apology, 30e). Socrates finds that a leader who grows content and maintains customs as those before him is foolish as he does not think for himself. A truly enlightened prince would question and challenge everything that comes his way. An enlightened prince would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Normally, when the topic of a book is about technology or internet , it is difficult for the book to be written in a fun way because let s face it; this topic itself is a little tedious. However, this book showed us a brand new way of talking about Internet and the influence it has brought to our life. The way the author quoted the researchers sentences and theories helped us to feel more willing to continue reading this book. We used to read books to absorb new information or just kill time. It was a traditional way for us to obtain knowledge and ideas of people around the world. Sometimes we spend several hours or even days reading an interesting book just because we were attracted by some new thoughts. However, the occurrence of computer and the internet has changed this. We have lost our patience and interest in reading long articles and books. Instead, we prefer searching keywords online to get what we want by skipping all the way. This change has drawn huge influence on the development of the new generations. As the author has pointed out in the book, it was more difficult to assign the students to read a whole book nowadays. Also, since we do not need to actually write anything for most of time all we do is typing, on the cell phone, on the computer, on the typewriter, and ect we forget words spelling from time to time because we haven t written them for a log time. • 8. Father Barry On The Waterfront Pigeons And Pigeons The Transformations of Pigeons and Hawks On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, is an award winning, controversial film that portrays the symbols of hawks and pigeons. Pigeons are seen as weak and fragile animals. Hawks, on the other hand, have eyes on the side of their head and see everything around them. They are the birds on top of the food chain. Hawks may not be able to transform into pigeons and pigeons may not be able to morph into hawks in the real world, but some characters prove to be able to do the impossible. Father Barry is a character that demonstrates how one can spread his weak pigeon wings and fly like a hawk. Contrarily, Johnny Friendly shows how one can begin leading like a powerful hawk and subsequently lose their ability to hunt in an instant becoming a scared, fragile pigeon.... He is told to go back to his church and not mess with the mob. Father Barry decides to take matters into his own hands. He has meetings and even preaches a sermon when Dugan died. He tells the longshoremen that killing Joey Doyle and Kayo Dugan before they are going to speak the truth, is a crucifixion. He continues to use his voice while others throw objects at him. This shows, all the men look at Father Barry as a pigeon. The longshoremen prove to be naive. • 9. Separation Anxiety Disorders There are several treatment options for separation anxiety disorder in children. The golden standard treatment of separation anxiety and other anxiety disorders is cognitive behavioral therapy, also known as CBT (Ehrenreich, Santucci, Weiner, 2008). There are a couple of goals for this approach that involve both the child and parent (James, James, Cowdrey, Soler, Choke, 2015). These researchers state that one of the goals is for the child to be able to recognize their own anxious feelings and their physiological responses when they experience anxiety. Another goal is for the child to have an ability to identify and control their thoughts during experiences that are anxiety provoking for them. Therapists want children with separation... Also, referrals can be made by the therapist for different mental health services, since individuals who end their CBT treatment often worry that they ll have the same symptoms. These services will be helpful for children and adolescents with separation anxiety disorder, since there are high risks of suicide within this population (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). There are different procedures for CBT that can help children with separation anxiety disorder. A procedure within this therapeutic approach that is proven to work for children and adolescents with separation and other anxiety disorders is systematic desensitization, which is an intervention that decreases anxiety and fears within an individual (Friedberg McClure, 2015). The process usually entails experiencing something that is anxiety provoking to a client and pairing it with a calming technique such as relaxation. For this intervention to be successful, hierarchies of anxiety for the client must be established so that they are being met and all aspects of anxiety must be understood by the therapist. A cognitive treatment in CBT is imagery, which is a form of relaxation that is used for decreasing stress and providing relief to the individual (Cully Teten, 2008). This intervention focused on the individual to gain back physical, emotional, and cognitive control of their thoughts, and is really affective for forms of anxiety. ... • 10. Education And Vocational Achievements Of A School Cohort Introduction People vary greatly in their educational and vocational achievements. While educational achievement has been examined in schools and tertiary settings, it is not always the case that the original educational and vocational achievements of a school cohort have been followed because there are certainly many other factors that affect people s result of achievement. According to Holland (1997, p.13), there are many characteristics of a person and an environment that influence educational and vocational development such as the age, gender, ethnicity, geography, social class, physical assets or liabilities, educational level attained, intelligence and influence. By comparing and contrasting males and females, this essay will focus on gender, in terms of schooling and vocation, and how culture and social stereotypes affect male and female educational and occupational pathways in Australia. Gender as a function of society and culture Gender is a cultural and social phenomenon that refers to constructed differences between men and women. With western feminism which encompassed Marxist, radical and liberal feminist frameworks gender was seen to operate both as a set of cultural understandings that represents what it means to be a man or woman, and as a social variable that structures the opportunities and pathways that men and women are expected to follow (Vickers, 2013, p.161). This phenomenon appears both educationally and vocationally. Gender stereotype ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

American citizens desire to witness several changes that can boost their lives under different fields of life. It goes without being mentioned that the stiff economic competition on the market in the current era plays a crucial role in mobilizing the masses to embrace or deter from several existing issues. Therefore, different governments have to analyze the demands and pleas of the local common citizens before implementing laws and specific management strategies. It is essential to note that not all of the implemented strategies might positively affect the lives of the common citizens. The leadership of a running government can be full self centered people who might want to discriminate the weak in the society by making laws which favor their operations. Elizabeth maintains a stereotypical image that affiliates wealthy people with arrogance, lack of compassion, and insolence. • 15. Lucent Technologies Supply Chain Of Asia Lucent Technologies supply chain in Asia had many issues back in1996 and once it became independent from AT T; some of which were long lead times, high cost, high inventories, poor technical support for local Asian operations and its customers. This was a consequence of the historical supply of Asia from the United States. The establishment of local Asian facilities was only as an entry mean to the Asian market. Even though the facilities provided some high level assembly and test, the supply chain was organized and centered on the U.S. leading to the problems mentioned earlier. A change was required and thus a supply chain redesign was completed in 1996, providing more Asian content. The change had a successful payback; however, developing changes in the marketplace, in suppliers, and in the manufacturing environment suggested that the supply chain was no longer optimal. At the start, forming the four joint ventures in Asia (Taiwan, Indonesia, China, and India) was only an entry vehicle for Lucent into the Asian market and not part of a manufacturing strategy. Nevertheless, Lucent had its share in the Asian market, was able to manage its business there successfully, and did not have much of challenges. Rumen Gases Of all ruminant animal types, (cattle, goats, and sheep), beef and dairy cattle are by far the largest emitters of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. As part of their digestive process, cows produce methane. An average cow in North America, which includes beef cows, bulls, calves, growing steers/heifers, and feedlot cattle, eructs via belching 117 pounds (53 kilograms) of methane (CH4) per head per year, according to 2006 guidelines from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The ruminant animal is unique because of its four stomach compartments: reticulum, rumen, omasum and abomasum. The function of the rumen as a fermentation vat and the presence of certain bacteria promote the development of gases. These gases are found in the upper part of the rumen with CO2 and CH4 making up the largest portion (Table 1). The proportion of these gases is dependent on rumen ecology and fermentation balance. Typically, the proportion of carbon dioxide is two to three times that of CH4, although a large quantity of CO2 is reduced to CH4. The eructation of gases via belching is important in bloat prevention but is also the way CH4 is emitted into the atmosphere. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), methane is more than 20 times as effective as CO2 at trapping heat in the atmosphere/ global warming potential. The U.S. ... Critical Incidents Of Academic Institutions Critical Incidents in Academic Institutions The critical incident technique is used to gather and analyze an employees behavior through methods such as observation and interviews (Andersson Nilsson,1964). The procedures utilized in the critical incident techniqueallows for the similarities, differences and patterns of behaviors to be analyzed. In Otranto, Walpole challenges his societies views of modernity and transgresses social laws by introducing the theme of incest into his novel with Manfred preying of his deceased son s betrothed, Isabella. This brings into play three defining features which became prevalent within gothic novels of the late eighteenth century: women in distress; women being threatened by powerful males; and the major theme of fear and in this example, specifically female fear. Isabella, a young, virginal woman becomes half dead with fright when faced with potential rape and becoming a spoiled woman at the hands of the powerful and threatening Manfred. Such suggestions, by Walpole s age were seen as scandalous and caused moral outrage, a thread that was carried through the gothic genre. This new genre may have provided for many, an escape from the rigid world of enlightenment. It brought to them a world of imagination and allowed them to immerse themselves in a world which had been morally forbidden and they could do it from the privacy of their own homes, allowing their indulgence, and perhaps, immoral thoughts to go unnoticed, providing a way for the darkness and immoral thoughts to come alive outside of the novel. At the end of the novel however, society s moral ideals surface as Manfred retires to a convent after the realisation of his sins and order is restored. The Battle Of Milne Bay During World War Two, Australian involvement in battles such as Milne Bay, in the Pacific theatre during 1942, contributed significantly to the course of the War. intro The Battle of Milne Bay was fought from August 25 to September 7 and was one of the most vital land battles protecting the Australian land mass from the Japanese that Australians have ever conducted. Milne Bay is located on the eastern tail of New Guinea. In May 1942, this area became of interest to senior Allied officers, when General Douglas MacArthurmade the decision to establish an airbase here, so that aircraft could control over the eastern seaward approaches. It was in July 1942, that development of the first airstrips began at Milne Bay. Australian infantry and American engineers were sent to begin clearing land for the airstrips and the base here would support them. During the following weeks, more ships with men arrived, also bringing more supplies and equipment for base development. Likewise, many of the old workers had been thrown out of employment, 3 and these numbers only grew into the year of 1848. In a way Marx talks about this problem in the Communist Manifesto. In this document, Marx introduced his idea to incorporate socialism into the government before communism. This is mainly because socialism would prepare the way by nationalizing the means of production and putting them under the control of those he viewed as the sole producers of wealth: the workers. 4 This would take the control out of the hands of the wealthy and it would be given to those people that had been the poorest in the previous years. His goal was to get the common people to have a changed view of work once they started to be in charge of the producing of goods. This way, there would be no rich and no poor, only economic equality would result. Marx was intent on the subject of human change. Marx was often confronted with the charge that he was trying to change human nature. However, his rebuttal was that human nature [had] changed many times in the past, 5 and that it was possible to change it again. He acknowledged that it would have to be a gradual change, but it was able to change. After all, we as humans are products of our environment, particularly of the economic system in which we live. 6 The government and its actions do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theory: Voter turnout in local elections is relatively low compared to state and federal elections. Research that has been done on local level turnout has largely focused on institutional influences, such as nonpartisan elections, the form of government and timing of elections (Karnig and Walter, 1983; Marschall, 2010; Hajnal and Lewis, 2003). One aspect that has been missing is campaign influence on local mayoral election turnout. The influence of campaigns on turnout has primarily focused on presidential and congressional races (Holbrook and McClurg, 2005). One major external driver is outside influences such as the US, by the demanding lower products and goods, manufacturers are forced to reduce any environmental safeguards that they had in place. An example of this is when a textiles mill in southern China was caught dumping 22,000 tons of contaminated water from its dyeing operation each day turning the whole river dark red. Another driver behind behaviour such as this is the ever growing discount clothing chain stores. Fourth ethical issue I spotted was the relationship was deepened when Dr. Lowenstein asked Tom to coach her son in football. This is an indicator of a dual relationship that should be prohibited.
