The Eye Of The Needle
The Eye of the Needle
The Eye of the Needle was always an iconic place along the Missouri until May 1997 when it
collapsed under suspicious circumstances. On the expedition of Lewis and Clark, the White Cliffs of
Montana was a signature site described by Lewis. One of the extraordinary landmarks was the Eye of
the Needle, which Meriwether Lewis first described its scenery by comparing its magnificent rock
formations to elegant ranges of lofting freestone buildings, having their parapets well stocked with
statuary (Burns, 1997). This was 1800 s talk, which doesn t make sense to most people nowadays.
Looking at an old picture of the Eye of the Needle that my grandfather took while rafting the
Missouri, I can see the beauty that people raved about.
The rock structure is so perplexing. The arch made up of multiple boulders doesn t look like anything
that nature could ever make naturally. It defies gravity standing on the very top of the rock wall lining
the rushing Missouri. The light grey structure has thousands of crevices that formed themselves from
natural wear and tear over time. 200 feet up, it towers over the Missouri River keeping a watchful eye
on all of the wildlife.
When blogger Chris describes this beautiful place he said,
The Eye of the Needle could be seen a few miles upstream while floating the Missouri River, and
from a distance it appeared to be just that a tiny window allowing some of the sky to shine through.
The structure was only about 11 feet high,

Social Media Problems
The first time many people engage in the usage of social media is during their teenage years. Many
individuals turn to social media for factual information and later discover what they read or seen wasn
t true. This is because yellow journalism publications provide false information, and when it s later
corrected not as many people are informed because the media has moved on to another event. Social
media has a fear to many people because the National Security Agency can monitor social media
activity and read private messages by simply entering a person s username into their system. Social
media is a business and interrupts personal privacy. Social media is a problem.
Social media is a leading problem because it leads to shorter attention spans. The increasing prestige
of social media and the internet is actually rewiring our brain. In 2015 a study was conducted by
Microsoft. This study surveyed two thousand people as a control group and monitored the brain
activity of one hundred and twelve additional people using electroencephalograms. The results
showed that the average human attention span is rapidly declining. In the year two thousand, the
human attention span was twelve seconds. Now the human attention span is eight seconds making our
attention span shorter than that of a goldfish at nine seconds. Shortened attention spans lead to
dissatisfaction, violence, and declining sales. For example; last year Amazon had a fifty six second
delay on their, checkout process which

Edward Theodore Gein
Edward Theodore Gein America s Most Infamous Murderer
Although tallying just two deaths, Ed Gein is one of America s most infamous murderers. His
notorious killings are remembered as being among the most perverse of any this century. His lunatic
atrocities were magnified by the number of victims who fell prey to his sick deeds and who also
fueled his numerous habits of cannibalism, necrophilia of women, and his obsession with the female
body, especially his mother, Augusta Gein. Although clearly guilty for the acts Gein committed,
psychiatrists were confident in their conclusion of his insanity. As is in many cases, Gein s birth of
insanity started in childhood.

In 1914 disgusted by the depravity (Taylor) of the town she decided to move the family to a 195 acre
farm deep in rural Wisconsin, where the family lived quietly for about 25 years. In 1940 George Gein
died, leaving Augusta with Henry, 38 and Ed, 34 who worked as handymen in nearby Plainfield to pay
the household bills. Henry would frequently bad mouth his mother within earshot of Ed, who
remained a stalwart devotee of the matriarch (Schechter 32). In May 1944 a fire broke out in the brush
near the Geins farm. When the fire department turned up, Ed said his brother was missing but he led
them directly to the spot where Henry lay, covered in soot. The police chose to ignore two marks on
the back of his head and put Henry s death down to him being asphyxiated by fumes as he fought the
fire. Whether Ed had anything to do with his brother s death remains a mystery to this day.
For a year Ed and his mother lived alone together in the big old farmhouse. While her health
deteriorated, Ed was ecstatic that he finally had his mother to himself; sometimes they would even
sleep in the same bed together. So when Augusta developed cancer and died on December 29, 1945
after a series of strokes Ed was devastated, and became increasingly deranged after her death. Gein

Sonnet
History of the Sonnet Petrarchan sonnet is the first and most common sonnet also known as the Italian
sonnet. It was named after one of it most greatest practitioners, the Italian poet Petrarch. The type of
poem is divided into two stanzas, the octave coming after it. The rhyme scheme goes,
abba, abba, cdecde, cdcdcd, which is applied to the Italian language rhyme scheme. As for the
Shakespearean sonnet, it is the second major type of sonnet also known as the English sonnet. It
follows a different set of rules. It goes by three quatrains and a couplet following the rhyme scheme:
abab, cdcd, efef, gg. The sonnet is a much more difficult form for the poet because of ... Show more

Free verse is a form of non metrical writing that slowly start to emerge into verbal music, that could
be turned into an actual song. Free verse is actually organized of speech and image patterns instead of
the regular metric scheme. It s rhythm s are based on elements such as sounds, words, phrases,
sentences, and paragraphs. Instead of the traditional units of metrical feet per line. So it basically
removes some of the distance of poetic expression and gives a better and more structured organization,
which is better for the modern idiom and tone of the language.
History of William Carlos Williams William Carlos Williams was born on September 17, 1883 and
died March 4, 1963. He was a Puerto Rican American poet, who was very interested in modernism
and imagism. In addition to writing, William had a long career as a physician. He served in the Passaic

Introduction
Not to be confused with an acquisition, a Greenfield venture is a strategy in which a parent company
enters into a new market without the involvement of another business or partner. This popular strategy
entails a company leasing or purchasing land, building a new facility, employing or relocating
managers and employees, and then independently launching a new operation where none has existed
before. Basically, the operations within a Greenfield venture are done from the ground up. As of today,

Being accepted into France s marketplace gives Acme right of entry to the other European Union
nations. On the surface, France appears to have more of a structured trade policy, which will make
France s trade policies less prone to corruption. While some people may view being under continuous
examination a bad thing, this certainly will keep France s trading processes honest . According to the
US Department of State (2012), a U.S. company like Acme should trade and invest with France
because the U.S. is the top destination for French investment and the U.S. is the leading foreign
investor in France.
Economic Background and Currency Thanks to adopting Euro as their trade currency, France has
managed to turn what could be risks of loss or currency risks caused by price fluctuations into foreign
investment. For example, due to dollar weakness, France unfortunately lost an estimate of nine percent
of their revenue growth back in 2004 but with a rising demand for French imports and the power of
Euro, France weathered the storm and remains a top economy in the world (Tested by the mighty
Euro, 2004). In the past, the economic outlook in France has seemed unbalanced, been questionable,
and everything about their economy pointed towards a recession; fortunately for them, Euro has
proven its reputation of being solid and fixed throughout the EU. As opposed to France s currency,

Brief Summary Of The Book A Long Way Gone
A Long Way Gone The book I picked is A long way gone . It relates the experience of a child soldier
from Sierra Leone, which is a country located in Southern Africa, between Guinea and Liberia, next to
the North Atlantic Ocean. This former British colony has currently six million inhabitants, and gained
independence in 1961. The official language of Sierra Leone is English, but only 30% of its citizens
are educated. Besides that the average life expectancy is 40 years and AIDS / HIV affects 7% of the
population; and the economic and social infrastructure of Sierra Leone are not well developed. In
addition, nearly two thirds of the population survives on subsistence agriculture, although the
extraction of alluvial diamonds represents almost half the country s exports and the most important
source of foreign exchange earnings. The first diamonds from Sierra Leone were discovered in 1930.
In addition to diamonds, the country has many natural resources of titanium ore, bauxite, iron ore,
gold and iron chromite. Today, Sierra Leone is in peace, and exports approximately $142 million
worth of diamonds annually. Between 1991 and 2002, Sierra Leone has gone through a violent civil ...

The Religion Of Donald Trump
With 673 delegates as of March 18th 2016, Donald Trump stands as the only Republican presidential
candidate capable of amassing the 1,237 delegates necessary to secure the nomination at the
Republican convention in July. In short, the rise of Trump has sent the Republican establishment into
disorder and challenged traditional views in political science. Given his lack of experience and
slanderish rhetoric, how has Trump maintained the attention and vote of the Republican electorate? To
answer this question, I will not depend on concepts such as voter turnout and demographic blocs often
used by political scientists. Instead, I will explore the religion of Donald Trump. For this ambitious
task, I will employ philosopher William James and his The Varieties of Religious Experience to
illuminate the personal side of religious politics, alongside with sociologist Emile Durkheim and his
The Elementary Forms of Religious Life to unpack the communal side. Given that individual voters
constitute the electorate in American politics, Donald Trump must derive support from disposed and
amenable persons. However, before exploring this idea, I must introduce William James conception of
religion to find these disposed and amenable persons. In Varieties, James defines religion as, the
feelings, acts, and experiences of individual men in their solitude, so far as they apprehend themselves
to stand in relation to whatever they may consider divine (James, 32). In other words, religion is

The Leadership Of A Global Society

Prototype Leaders within Diversity

Leadership in a Global Society
Fall 2015
Culture was and always going to be alive, it never dies. However, today is different, culture is
spreading rapidly, and it became vital to acknowledge at least the basics of each culture. Due to
multiplicity of cultures within societies, not any leader could lead a group of followers, but only
prototype leaders who are needed to lead diverse organizations nowadays. Leadership becomes
difficult; it requires awareness of one s culture and skills to navigate within several cultures.
Immigrants migrates every day to a new country, marketing is becoming internationally advertised,
technology, media, all of these aspects changed the way life used to be seen. Today, it is
unprofessional for leaders to not acknowledge a little background of their followers, or at least to be
aware of what is their basic values. Therefore, for leaders to be successful in maintaining a good
relation with their followers in today s diverse society and in reaching success for their companies, I
believe that they must be characterized by five major qualities. Farsighted, collaborative, inspirational,
humble and respectful are the prototype qualities whom leaders must be portrayed as in a diverse
society.
Surely one of the common goals between leaders is success. And success cannot be reached in the
absence of Leaders farsightedness and wisdom. Regardless of how

Narwhal Poem
Narwhal
The ocean was still and smooth, like a black mirror reflecting ivory clouds and cyan shadows. In it, a
pale blue whale of immense size surfaced and swam gently, like a dropping tear on a cheek.
All the misery from around the world was drawn to the sea and formed its ripples. The whale
swallowed the grief silently, from the northeast to the southwest, and the world was quiet and
peaceful.
Over time, the whale could no longer bear and hold the sorrows inside his body. The pain transformed
and twisted into a long, grey tooth; it pierced through his forehead like a unicorn s horn.
One day, people saw this anguished whale from the shore. They were amazed by a creature they had
never seen before. They gazed at his splendid horn, and a strong greed grew inside of their hearts.
People took boats, wood, and anything that could let them float. They surrounded the whale and
trapped him, but the whale was too huge to be carried. So, they used thick ropes to hitch his head, ...

The ocean was angry. It continued to move restlessly; it swept and devoured numerous lives. Humans,
however, were ignorant of the change.
Now, the horn hung in the centre of the city. People took pride in it and cheered, never knowing that it
was the pain of the whale.
Time passed by. A sailor was drowning in the fierce ocean from shipwreck. He struggled and tried to
stay afloat, but desperation and death were stronger than him. When he was ready to give, he saw an
island a short distance away. With his last ounce of strength, he swam to the island and pulled himself
onto the beach. He lay prone on the sand, and couldn t believe that he was still alive.
When he lifted his head up, the forest soughed in the breeze. The subtle comfort slowed his breath and
brought him an inner peace he had never felt before.
The sailor didn t know that the magnificent whale s body had floated up from the bottom of the sea
and transformed, creating the island that was now his

God s Predestination
In the articles, The Decree: Trinity and predestination , Creation: God s Time for Us , and Providence
God s Care for all He has made by Michael Horton we learn that the doctrine of God s predestination
of all things is clearly taught in scripture. Creation is not the result of primordial violence or conflict,
but the free decision, and generous, outgoing activity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in covenant love.
God s providence is his sustenance and governance of all things, including sin and evil, for good of his
people and the glory of his wisdom and grace in Christ. The author will provide several arguments for
each of the following terms: decree, creation, and providence.
To begin with, the author states that predestination is clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The creation narrative is not a myth, but an account of God s free historical act and his claim upon all
reality. The pattern of ex nihilo creation is a constant biblical parallel for the new creation language of
redemption. The doctrine of creation is at the heart of the sharp contrast between the biblical
worldview and the various monisms and dualisms of pagan ontologies. The author talks about creative
communication and the integrity of creation. He said that the Bible represents God s personal effective
speech. Humans were created as communicative partners in this covenant, to lead the rest of creation
in its hearing of God s speech and response of praise. He also presented beyond God of the gaps in
which he developed the God of the Gap apologetic and design and contingency. Finally in chapter ten,
he addressed I am the alpha and the omega : original, continual, and new creation in which he said that
God s act not only of preserving creatures but continually bringing about their fruitfulness and their
ongoing diversity. Furthermore in chapter eleven, he stated that providence is based on scripture.
There are three classes of scripture passages regarding providence such as soteriology, common grace,
and theodicy. Many Christians who have trouble accepting divine sovereignty in salvation
nevertheless recognize God s absolute lordship over nature and history. The author mention that
scripture does not say that God does all things himself, or that everything that happens is good in
itself, but that God works all things together for our good. He talks about concursus, or concurrence
which refers to the simultaneity of divine and human agency in actions or events. In permitting evil,
God not only lets it happen; he determines how far it will go and how he will work it for

Analysis Of Truman Capote s The Novel Cold Blood
Real crime or true story is a recently denomination term used to refer to nonfictional acting of actual
crimes, usually murders. There has been little methodical study of the genre; critics and scholars offer
contradictory theories about true crime literature. Although the term and the popularity of the genre
are relatively new, factual accounts of crimes are not. True crime accounts date back as far as the 18th
century, and such writers as Edmund Pearson, William Roughead, and Jonathan Goodman described
the exploits of criminals earlier in the twentieth century. Critics agree that Truman Capote s In Cold
Blood gave birth to the genre (Fathers fall 1990). Called a nonfiction novel, the book was a not factual
account of the murder of a Kansas family in which Capote focused on the killers not the victims, as
was the norm previously. In attempting to explain why the killers acted as they did, Capote s work and
Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo work could be considered classics of the genre. This
essay takes its print to compare and contrast the two crime based movies by looking into their content
and setting to bringing out their similarities and differences. It also outlines some of the benefits of
such genres is society.
Most crime movies are real life crime inspired. These are real life experiences and true stories turned
into enactment though they may not capture the full real life flow of events. Foxcatcher is one of such
movies which are inspired by a real

The Effect Of Electricity On The Early 1800s
This article explained how electricity was generated in the early 1900s. Burning coal in the city
centers produced electricity and also helped to heat buildings. Only people near from the city were
able to use electricity because there was not way to transmit the electricity to rural areas. After a long
time coal plants started to grew and people were facing difficulties because the coal plants occupied
space and they also produced pollution to the city. People decided to move coal plants to the outside of
the city in that way people would not be affected, they started to use transmission wires to carry
electricity. Even though they did not have the same efficacy to obtain electricity they were finding a
way to improve it. At the beginning of 1970 technology began to improve, so many mass produce
engines were produce and they can be located in the middle of the population, also decentralized
plants were used to recycle the wasted heat. After all these benefits of the new technology, industry
decided to make some changes. Electric monopolies started to charge people for the use of electricity.
Later on, congress tried to open competition in 1978 and some independent power companies started
to develop one site generation. This article was focused in a research on how to build new power
generation providing technology, capital costs and fuel prices. After all of this significant and dramatic
changes in electricity, United States was facing problems because the power industry

A Double Life Essay
In Howards End we see the outer and inner worlds the prose and the passion, disconnected, but still
existing within the same space. Although the material Wilcoxs and cerebral Schlegels seemingly come
from different worlds, their alignment is ultimately a matter of personal connection. Yet, just about
sixty years prior in Karolina Pavlova s A Double Life we see the same two worlds existing in separate
spaces entirely prose in the waking life, poetry within Cecily s dreams. One explanation for this is that
of Konstantin Askakov, in his introduction to Pavlova s novella. For him, the prose represents the
outer, frivolous emptiness of everyday high society; the poetry, the voice of Cecily s soul. Cecily s
dreams then represent an inner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suddenly his previous characterization no longer stands; suddenly it is clear he was described as an
outcast because he has access to this higher meaning in a way his audience might not. It s worth again
making explicit that the previously established form of the novella breaks down here. Not only does
poetry briefly inhabit the waking life, but so too does the higher meaning it has come to represent. But
what s important here is not only that the narrative structure is broken here, but who breaks it: the
male poet. One explanation for this is a matter of difference in class. That is, the poet has access
precisely because he did not grow up under the circumstances of high society, while Cecily s social
status renders her incapable of having depth. Yet, the version of Cecily we see in her dreams does not
support this reading; even in the presence of poetry she retains her social identity, and is even warned
of her swaddled (51) upbringing. Rather, the relevant distinguishing feature between Cecily and the
poet is that he is a man. While male poets may be seen as lower class or even unrespectable, women
who pursue poetry are seen as pitiable, and as having a dangerous illness (60). In short: poetry is not
an option, and thus not even a consideration for women. There is perhaps something to be said that the
women are shown

The Choice And The Notebook
The purpose of this paper is to write about the similarities and difference of two movies: The Choice

knowing who the movie was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. There is always a boy who falls for a

Social Class Reflection Paper
Before this class I always viewed sport as a sanctuary for everyone regardless of their race, social
class, and gender as something they can do together. That once everyone was on the field or at the
game, we were all the same. I believed that it was an activity that did not have a political influence
and it was purely for entertainment. While I still believe some of that is true, this class has challenged
my view point by forcing me to view sports through a different lens. As students, we tend to look at
everyday activities through our personal experiences and assume that everyone else around us is
experiencing them the same way. We tend to overlook the truth because we are uncomfortable
admitting that things such as discrimination, and sexism still happen in today s world.
More specifically, I was challenged to look at my life experiences in three different categories. These
categories include the effect of neoliberalism on today s society, my social class, and my race.
Through these three categories, I was able to pull out the differences between my own life and the
lives of others. By viewing the same experience through another person s eyes, I noticed the extreme
differences that they are going through because of the influence from society.
In the following paper, I will mention how the effect of neoliberalism has influenced the way myself
and others view and experience a sporting experience, how my social class standing has structured
what sports I had access to and

Reducing Employee Turnover in Hospitality
Reducing Employee Turnover in Hospitality Introduction High level of employee turnover continues
to be the most serious challenge in the hospitality industry (Hinkin amp; Tracey, 2000; Wasmuth amp;
Davis, 1983). The hospitality industry has an exceptionally high turnover rate compared to other
industries. * Definition of employee turnover Price (1977) defined employee turnover as the ratio of
the number of organization members who have left during the period being considered divided by the
average number of people in that organization during the period. Meanwhile, Woods and Schmidgall
(1995) focused on the entire process in the organization during a period. They prefer to employee
turnover as each time a position is vacated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides, there are negative impacts on customer service and satisfaction (Jang, B. S. J., 2008). In other
words, high turnover is more likely to provide poor customer service and can ultimately lead to
customer dissatisfaction. Anecdotal evidence illustrates that in a company experiencing 150%
turnover, customers are continually being served by new employees (Wood amp; Macaulay, 1989).
Strategies of Reducing Employee Turnover Imagine you have been working late to finish an important
project when your project manager walks into your office and tells you she has been offered a better
job. This is the same person you handpicked, trained, and recently gave a pay raise. As she turns to
depart she says, There are others thinking about leaving too. What went wrong? How are you going to
finish this project? Who will be next to leave? The dread is starting to sink in (Smith, 2007). As
Employers, they face enormous challenges when they consider the increasing difficulty of finding
skilled people, a more demanding younger workforce, and a growing population of older workers
heading toward retirement. Money and benefits are important, but studies show most employees leave
for other reasons. Obviously, a certain degree of turnover is unavoidable, but with a small amount of
effort organizations can make a major difference. For a company to develop a retention strategy,
employers must

Prescription Drug Abuse And Prescription Drugs
Prescription Drug Abuse Prescription Drug Abuse has increased in an alarming rate over recent years!
Prescription drug related deaths now outnumber those from heroin and cocaine combined. The abuse
in prescription drugs in America goes back more than a hundred years ago. Prescription drug abuse is
the use of a medication without a prescription, in a way other than prescribed, or for the experience or

sometimes become addictive and can induce serious side effects, changes in behavior, and even death.
From personal experience I know how dangerous Prescription Drug Abuse can be. When I was
younger, my brother Clay overdosed on Prescription Drugs. He went to a pharm party, also known as
a pill party. He was found passed out in a bedroom, and was put in a car and taken to the hospital. He
was then found to have no heartbeat and they had to cut off his clothes and had to do the difibulizer.
He is now in rehab doing much better. Everyday in the United States 2,500 youth abuse a prescription

Obamacare Pros And Cons
Obamacare has become one of the most controversial issues in the past four years. I think the debate
over Obamacare is a good one to have. This issue has caused many people, politicians, and media
outlets to finally sit down and, deal with something that has become a problem in our healthcare
system. Obamacare is also facing many obstacles, politicians want to repeal it, people with low
income need it, and the debate on its success is on going. Politicians, republicans in particular have
been unsupportive of Obamacare and democrats are also on the fence with the Obamacare bill. It was
passed in 2010 and created by Barrack Obama that allows individuals the opportunity to obtain
affordable health care. I think the idea of this bill means a lot to America it is something that could be
good for us, however republicans particularly those elected on the promise of working to repeal
Obamacare say it s important to get a bill to the president s desk as a message to voters (Owens 1).
This whole issue of repealing the bill I believe doesn t give us a chance to fix our health care system. I
think if we can see that it can possibly be a benefit for us, especially for people of low income, it
should be debated and workout. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Supreme Court ruled that the states expansion of medicated had to be voluntary. That left the poor in

Essay 18 Reasons Why a Shopper Abandons their Shopping Cart
A judge pounding down the gavel declaring, GUILTY as charged, is unnecessary. You are guilty of
this, I am guilty of this, and in fact, every shopper is guilty. The crime we are all guilty of...spending
time shopping on a website, finding products and hitting the add to cart button, only to not go through
with purchasing those products. Instead, items stay in the shopping cart only to never find their way to
a loving home.
That abandoned shopping cart is a lot like the island of misfit toys, in the Classic film, Rudolph the

Why, oh why, do people not go through with the purchase transaction?

If a website is experiencing a high percentage of shopping cart abandonment, or bounce rate, it s time
for an audit. Out of the 18 reasons people abandon their shopping cart is due to website issues, not
personal issues (although, sometimes this is the case).
Items to change for better a Shopping Experience:
Simplify the shopping experience, one of the reasons people abandon their carts is because the website
requires them to sign up or share too much information. People are in a hurry, especially if they are
trying to make a purchase via their smartphone.
Offer guest checkout sign up after the sale is made. There is a slight chance the shopper has already
purchased from the site, does have an account, but does not remember their password. Guest checkout
means that they can complete the transaction without going through the trouble of resetting their
original password. The shorter the sales process the better.
Redenvelope.com is a prime example of an ideal checkout page:
Make certain that the brand logo and contact is on every page of the checkout process. Remember if

Symptoms And Treatment Of Gout
1. Gout (Acute, Active)
a) Differentials: Gout, Rheumatoid Arthitis, Plantar Fasciitis
b) Plan: Prescribed Colchicine (Colcrys) 0.6 mg tablet for 10 days, to reduce joint inflammation
related to gout flares.
c) Education: A preventive gout flare diet includes one that is low purine, low protein, alcohol
restricted diet. Gout is influenced by dietary factors that lead to an increase in purines, such as red
meat and shellfish, alcohol, and caffeinated beverages. Avoidance of these dietary factors may reduce
gouty flares. An alcohol restricted diet is imperative because alcohol consumption closely correlates
with hyperuricemia leading to a gout attack. B.B. should be made aware that excessive joint
movement might increase inflammation, whereas rest of affected joints may support resolution of
pain. Cold compresses may also be beneficial to treatment of gout attacks. Patient should be
recommended to exercise regularly and drink plenty of water, leading to lower the concentration of
uric acid.
d) Referral: None at this time. Patient directed to follow up if symptoms have not resolved in 10 days.
Gout is an arthritic disease caused by buildup of uric acid in the body. Normally, the liver processes
purines. When purines are destroyed by the liver, uric acid, a waste product is produced. Normally, the
body disposes uric acid through the kidneys where it is removed from the blood. When too much uric
acid is produced by the liver or the kidneys do not eliminate properly from the

Battle On The Plains Of Abraham And The Metis
Battles help students realize the perspectives of each side. For an example, Battle on the Plains of
Abraham and Battle of Seven Oaks have perspectives of British and French or Scottish and The
Metis, which makes students become more aware of which side they agree on . However, both of these
battles started with a vengeance, hatred and wrongdoings, but differ in the terms of their elaborate
details, specific reasons, and surprising results after the fighting.
One similarity between these 2 battles is that the English side caused both of the battles. The British
caused it by capturing Louisberg and Quebec on the other hand, the Scottish banned the Metis from
trading meat, fish, or vegetables from the Red river. Both, British and Scottish tortured their enemies
in different ways. The Scottish starved The Metis and took things away from them whereas The
British bombarded Louisberg so the French would surrender it. In addition, the French ... Show more

Childhood And Sexual Identity Under Slavery Essay
Childhood and Sexual Identity under Slavery With so much going on back in 1850 s, especially the
biggest issue was slavery. We tend to only think that adults were only slaves but forgot that children
who were African American were also slaves too that were being put to work just like their parents.
Anthony S. Parent, Jr. and Susan Brown Wallace both teamed up to collaborate studying the issue of
children and slavery which is the untold story of the children during the times on slavery and their
knowledge of sex. After reading the studies of their work, it was very shocking and surprising that
little attention was brought up among the children during the slavery time. It was devastating to hear
such treatment happening to poor innocent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having various former slaves narrating their lives and what they went through as kids showed that the
research of this article had real factual evidence to prove the how bad it was for children. With real
former slaves telling the story it clearly showed that there was more to slavery than was taught to us in
the classroom. I personally like the article and that it showed me another point of slavery that made it
wrong. Children who were being used as house pets or as house props were just wrong so they only
grew up knowing how to be basically an obedient dog. Despite the fact that they were usually being
taken cared of inside and fed, they were still being treated no better than a dog in today s times. The
recommended audience for this all ages. The reason being is that everyone should know how harsh
times were like for slaves and how we as a whole nation should never go back to doing these things to
mistreat any human being like that. This comes to show us that how we as humans treated each other
were no better than farmers treating animals. Never should this ever happen again not just to African
Americans but to anyone including children and adults, every human should be free and have the

Family Is The Most Basic Unit Of Structure
Family, being the most basic unit of structure, plays an important role in societies worldwide. It is in
the household where future generations are nurtured and educated. Relatives do not only provide
company, but are also a helping hand in times of need. The family is a community, no matter how big
or small it may be. The idea of what constitutes a family varies across nations and cultures. Some
people differentiate between the nuclear family and the extended family, while others view both
components as one whole. Single headed homes are also a prevalent form of familial structure in
many places of the world. Certain families may have one male head with several wives and children
or vice versa. Although the arrangements and ideas of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In earlier years, many grandparents died before the birth of their grandchildren or soon after. This was
due to the low fertility control and late marriages in nineteenth century North America. Couples were
bearing children at a much older age, shortening the mutual lifetime between a grandparent and a
grandchild. This generation gap also explained why most households barely contained any elderly
relatives. Another reason for the prevailing nuclear family structure is the high fertility rate. Parents
were producing more than one child and when those children got married and had children of their
own, the family would have been too large to reside in just one home. This forced the siblings to
create their own nuclear families once they got married and moved out. Shorter life spans and an
increased fertility rate, were the prerequisites for North America s nuclear family arrangement.
The Extended Family Sociologists Castillo, Weisblat, and Villareal go to a lengthy extent in order to
support the fact that a clear definition for the extended family does not exist , however, for the sake of
this research, it will be defined as being composed of any kin outside of the nuclear family. This
includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and in laws. Although not common in
the United States, the extended family format seems to prevail in other countries. The main reason
being that it

How Does Hitchcock Create Emotional Tension In The Birds
The Birds is considered one of Hitchcock s most memorable films, and is known as a classic horror
film because of the concept of birds randomly attacking people. The film centers on a man and a
woman merging in with his family and only then do the birds start attacking and disrupting their
already tense atmosphere as the feelings between the protagonists Melanie and Mitch begin to
blossom. Hitchcock creates the birds as a metaphor for the emotional turmoil between the couple and
the characters, as it allows them all to develop throughout the film.
Melanie is uncomfortable among Mitch and his family because of her feelings for him. This is further
supported when Melanie s relationship with his mother Lydia becomes strained due to awkward

Juvenal Essay
Juvenal
Juvenal was a Roman Satirist active in the late 1st and early 2nd century AD
Biography: Born in Aquinum, Italy at around 55 60 CE and died around 127 or later. He is not really
mentioned by anyone except Martial, who calls him eloquent and describes him as living a poor life
kissing up to the rich. It is thought that his family was fairly well off, and that the first step he made
towards a career was when he became an officer in the army in the administrative service of the
emperor Domitian (81 96 CE) but was never promoted, which upset him. Upset, he wrote a satire
about how court favorites had an unfair influence in the promotion system, and as a result of this
writing he was given the boot and banished to Syene, a remote frontier town (now Aswan in Egypt).
His property was also confiscated. After Domitian kicked the bucket in 96, Juvenal made his return to
Rome. However without any money he had no choice to be a client on the charity of the rich. After a
couple of years he was elderly, and living a more humble life in Rome possessing a farm at Tibur with
livestock and servants. Although generally pessimistic his later works show a few hints humanity and
kindness. No record of his death however he is estimated to have died around 127. ... Show more

He also wrote at least 16 poems in Dactylic hexameter covering a large range of topics in the Roman

works survival. Although forgotten after his death his work was later read and quoted by the Christian
propagandist Tertullian around 200 CE and a commentary on the satires was compiled somewhere
around 350 420 CE and has been studied since.

The Romantic Novels Of Jane Austen s Romantic Literature
Jane Austen, a Georgian era author, is best known for her romantic novels that criticize societal
traditions. Her upbringing and the support that she received from her family assisted her development
as a novelist. As she continued to create more literary pieces, Austen received more recognition for her
work and eventually became the renowned writer she is today.
Austen was born in Hampshire, England as the seventh child of Cassandra and George Austen.
Coming from a family of respectable community members, Austen grew up in an environment that
emphasized education and expressive reasoning. Her earliest form of education began when reading
from her father s library. There, Austen was encouraged by her father and began to develop her
creativity as an author. Austen eventually pursued a formal education when she and her older sister
Cassandra, one of her closest companions, were sent to boarding school. Both Jane and her sister s
formal education was abrupt, however, due to financial restrictions. After their formal education came
to a halt, the sisters returned to their home and resumed their studies. Jane continued to expand her
writing abilities through home based productions, which were common in the casual environment of
her family, and collections of personal stories. It is through these experiences that Jane Austen
resolved to become a formal writer.
Despite never marrying, Austen exhibits an extensive perspective on romance in her collection of
novels. Her literary works are comprised of satirical commentaries on society, as well as romantic
stories that involve unique characters. Eventually, Austen s romantic novels became popular among
the public, as seen with the immense success after her first published novel, Sense and Sensibility. Her
clever commentary and skilled writing ability attributed to acknowledgement as an author. Following
this success, Austen continued to gain acknowledgement from citizens and praise from literary critics.
Austen s reputation skyrocketed in the 20th century while she became accredited for her masterful
incorporation of realism elements into her stories (Augustyn). Furthermore, Austen demonstrated a
range of literary works with various tones. For instance, Austen s

A Research Study On Developmental Disability
According to Gail Goldsmith, BSW, who just retired from Northern Lakes Community Mental Health,
NLCMH is authorized by the Michigan Department of Community Health to provide mental health
services and services to those with developmental disabilities.
Developmental disability is generally defined as a chronic condition, with an onset before age 22, that
cause impairment in one or more areas that impact day to day functioning such as learning,
communication (expressive and receptive language), mobility, cognitive function (information
processing), self help, health/physical functioning and independent living. Conditions such as Down s
syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and fetal alcohol syndrome are some of the most prevalent causes of
impairment. Often these conditions create a need for lifelong support.
According to the Center For Disease Control, in a study published by the American Academy of
Pediatrics, nearly 1 in 6 children in the United States are identified as having a developmental
disability. (Boyle 2011)

alleging they helped and encouraged the Nigerian government to execute his husband Doctor Barinem
Kiobel, an environmentalist, in an effort to suppress protests against its operations in Nigeria
summarily.
Discussion/Legal Reasoning: The Alien Torts Act (ATS) gives federal district courts jurisdiction over
claims by an alien for wrongdoings only, committed in violation of International Customary Law or a
treaty of the United States. (28 U.S.C. § 1350).
Back in 2004, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the constitutionality of the ATS in Sosa vs. Alvarez
Machain, a case regarding the forced disappearance of a Mexican citizen in Mexico, perpetrated by a
former Mexican official. The Court ruled that the ATS applied to a narrow set of internationally
recognized violations that are universally condemned, and that would render the accused a hostis
humani generis, or enemy of all mankind , no matter where they take place including slavery,
genocide, and war crimes, and that it is a jurisdictional statute only; it does not create cause of action.
Justice Souter explained, that the drafters of the Statute assumed that the common law would provide
a cause of action for the limited number of international law infractions with a potential for personal
liability at the time. (CaseLaw 2012). Indeed, at the time of its inception, the ATS allow federal courts

Normative Thesis
In chapter two, The Bases for Our Decisions and roles of Discernment, the author focuses mainly on
the reason for our choices as humans, and our capability of being righteousness as individuals. The
authors explains that every individual has different morals which comes to effect the decisions we
make as humans.
A Proposed Normative Basis:
How do we approach ethics?
In general everyone approaches an ethical situation differently depending on his or her priorities.
When it comes to our ethical decisions we tend to approach them with normative basis. This
sometimes includes our virtues, principles and the consequences that we might be able to handle.
Often times, these normative basis go hand in hand and we tend to use them together when it comes to
decision making. This all depends on which of the three is more important to the individual.
Describing a Normative Basis
A normative basis often times gives us an idea of person that we should become and how we should

employee base of unskilled workers was still largely based within the inner cities, making commutes
longer and more expensive. As jobs and people left the cities, many urban transit networks found
themselves going out of business. Many that survived were publicly acquired and heavily subsidized.
As a result, owning a car has become critical to the ability to seek, acquire and hold a job. For
example, a recent report by Washington think tank the Brookings Institution states that 32 percent of
Baltimore residents do not have cars. An Abell Foundation report says this endangers the ability of
these residents to get and keep a job. According to Brookings fellow Margy Waller, people with a car
are more likely to work, work more hours, and have a higher level of income. The Brookings
Institution proposes lowering the barriers to car ownership in order to help more Baltimoreans become
productive citizens. These barriers are high in Maryland, especially in Baltimore City, making car
access more difficult to achieve than it is on average. However, it is not clear whether car ownership is
a pathway to or a symptom of success. The Brookings Institution believes that it is the former, but the
truth is probably more complex. There is a strong movement for better public

The Skin Color Of Drugs
Berthony Pierre

Drugs and Society
Professor Lageson
The Skin Color of Drugs The first slaves came to the United States in 1619. During this period there
have literally been a few scattered decades in which African Americans had a fairly decent shot at
entering the mainstream society. Especially black males are targets for abuse by the security system,
drug wars, killing and lack of opportunity for employment (Noam Chomsky). The war on drugs has
been congruous with tossing African American s in jail. Various statistics demonstrate the racial
discrimination that the drug war has generated. These massive private prisons are being built at an
accelerated rate to house numerous of minorities for simple drug possessions. When you look at who
are using these illegal drugs versus the people who are being incarcerated, a different picture is being
painted. It s not hard to discern that the drug policies that are in place are a form of social control.
They influence a specific type of people and those they affect are more often than not minorities living
in America. Drugs have always been a matter in question in America and around the world. There are
individual countries in the European Union that invest in treatment programs to aid people who have
become dependent on drugs. However in America, the policies are devised to incarcerate American
citizens in a massive scale. The bureau of justice statistics pulled numbers on the amount of people
incarcerated for

Early Rock And Roll Research Paper
Early Rock and Roll
The year is 1960. You walk into the crowded concert, and take your seat as the sound of guitar riffs fill
your ears. The crowd cheers, as the singer struts onstage with his guitar and starts to wave a tale with
music as he sings along to his strumming guitar. This is early rock n roll. In this paper I will first tell
you about the history of early rock and roll. Then I will tell you about the famous composers of this
music style and the way it has impacted our society, in the past and present.
Rock and roll is nicknamed American music. This style of music arrived in the hearts of composers in
the mid 1950 s. It is speculated that the first early rock and roll song was Jimmy Preston s Rock this
joint . Rock and roll was combined with many styles of music to make it what we hear of today, and
some of those styles are boogie woogie, the rhythms of R B, country, gospel and blues. It mostly just
evolved from the 1950 s early rhythm and blues. The words rock and roll and concept of rock and roll
was first used by Alan Freed, a Cleveland DJ, who used it when playing the song My Baby Rocks Me
with a Steady Roll . This music ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1960 s, rock and roll became an active voice of America s anti war movement. Rock and roll
changed dancing, and instead of only fancy dances, where you had to look and act your best, this
music offered a fun way to dance and have fun with your friends. The twist was one of the most
popular dances, and it was one that most everyone used. Also, the crazy rock and roll artists had crazy
clothes that affected the way people dressed in some cases. Although, some songs impacted societies
in the wrong way, especially the songs that encouraged sex, violence, drugs, and drinking. But, not all
songs were like that, and instead offered new hopes in times of danger, including WWII. Those are
some ways how early rock and roll has affected our

How Shahrazad Changes King Shriyar
Shahrazad changes King Shahriyar by telling him the tales from the Thousands and One Nights, as
well as showing him her motherly love for the children they have together while she told him the tales.
With all of her intelligence and braveness, she was able to save her life, her children s lives, as well as
changing the King from a cold hearted person to a gentle, caring man of her own. King Shahriyar was
heartbroken by the fact that his wife betrayed him for the slaves and how she did not stay faithful to
him, while he loves her so much. He started to doubt love as he and his brother set out to find if other
kings also have their wives like that. They found a jinnee with a young lady, in which they were
forced to mount her for their lives.

Worm In Hamlet Essay
Hamlet Quotation Test
Choice 1: Option 2
A man may fish with the worm that hath eat of a king, and eat of the fish that hath fed of that worm.
(IV, iii, 27 28)
To begin, this passage is said by Hamlet directly to his uncle Claudius. It occurs right after he has
killed Polonius and is being questioned as to the whereabouts of the body. Within, Hamlet describes
how a man can catch a fish with a worm that has eaten from the king and then the fish will be eaten by
the man. This basically means that death is an equalizer and even someone as mighty as a King can be
used as something to help feed the common man. This passage creates a vivid image of a worm
decomposing a body of a King, the worm then being used to fish, and then the fish being fed ... Show

This takes place after Hamlet has killed Polonius and Claudius is talking to Laertes. The king is trying
calm Laertes down after he learns Polonius s death and is also trying to guilt Laertes into helping kill
Hamlet inconspicuously. The quotation tells of how Laertes would kill Hamlet in a church. This
means the he would even face the wrath of God if it means he could kill Hamlet. Additionally, this line
targets the Elizabethan audience. Hamlet is set in the Elizabethan era where Christianity is a huge part
of the culture. Churches in that time could offer sanctuary to criminals (which means they would be
safe from arrest). For the reason that churches were considered sacred murder was definitely against
the law. Thus, showing that Laertes would go to extreme measures to get revenge. Also, the passage
develops the conflict of the play. This is because Laertes now wants to avenge his father s death by
killing Hamlet. So now, not only having to deal with Claudius, Hamlet has another fight going on.
Finally, the line helps develop the theme of revenge because Laertes is stating he wants to cut the
throat of Hamlet to avenge Polonius death. This quote is the answer to Claudius asking for help to kill
Hamlet. Thus, these words of eagerness and hate distinctly show Laertes desire for

  • 2. The Eye Of The Needle The Eye of the Needle The Eye of the Needle was always an iconic place along the Missouri until May 1997 when it collapsed under suspicious circumstances. On the expedition of Lewis and Clark, the White Cliffs of Montana was a signature site described by Lewis. One of the extraordinary landmarks was the Eye of the Needle, which Meriwether Lewis first described its scenery by comparing its magnificent rock formations to elegant ranges of lofting freestone buildings, having their parapets well stocked with statuary (Burns, 1997). This was 1800 s talk, which doesn t make sense to most people nowadays. Looking at an old picture of the Eye of the Needle that my grandfather took while rafting the Missouri, I can see the beauty that people raved about. The rock structure is so perplexing. The arch made up of multiple boulders doesn t look like anything that nature could ever make naturally. It defies gravity standing on the very top of the rock wall lining the rushing Missouri. The light grey structure has thousands of crevices that formed themselves from natural wear and tear over time. 200 feet up, it towers over the Missouri River keeping a watchful eye on all of the wildlife. When blogger Chris describes this beautiful place he said, The Eye of the Needle could be seen a few miles upstream while floating the Missouri River, and from a distance it appeared to be just that a tiny window allowing some of the sky to shine through. The structure was only about 11 feet high, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many individuals turn to social media for factual information and later discover what they read or seen wasn t true. This is because yellow journalism publications provide false information, and when it s later corrected not as many people are informed because the media has moved on to another event. Social media has a fear to many people because the National Security Agency can monitor social media activity and read private messages by simply entering a person s username into their system. Social media is a business and interrupts personal privacy. Social media is a problem. Social media is a leading problem because it leads to shorter attention spans. The increasing prestige of social media and the internet is actually rewiring our brain. In 2015 a study was conducted by Microsoft. This study surveyed two thousand people as a control group and monitored the brain activity of one hundred and twelve additional people using electroencephalograms. The results showed that the average human attention span is rapidly declining. In the year two thousand, the human attention span was twelve seconds. Now the human attention span is eight seconds making our attention span shorter than that of a goldfish at nine seconds. Shortened attention spans lead to dissatisfaction, violence, and declining sales. For example; last year Amazon had a fifty six second delay on their, checkout process which ... His notorious killings are remembered as being among the most perverse of any this century. His lunatic atrocities were magnified by the number of victims who fell prey to his sick deeds and who also fueled his numerous habits of cannibalism, necrophilia of women, and his obsession with the female body, especially his mother, Augusta Gein. Although clearly guilty for the acts Gein committed, psychiatrists were confident in their conclusion of his insanity. As is in many cases, Gein s birth of insanity started in childhood. Henry would frequently bad mouth his mother within earshot of Ed, who remained a stalwart devotee of the matriarch (Schechter 32). In May 1944 a fire broke out in the brush near the Geins farm. When the fire department turned up, Ed said his brother was missing but he led them directly to the spot where Henry lay, covered in soot. The police chose to ignore two marks on the back of his head and put Henry s death down to him being asphyxiated by fumes as he fought the fire. Whether Ed had anything to do with his brother s death remains a mystery to this day. For a year Ed and his mother lived alone together in the big old farmhouse. While her health deteriorated, Ed was ecstatic that he finally had his mother to himself; sometimes they would even sleep in the same bed together. In short, the rise of Trump has sent the Republican establishment into disorder and challenged traditional views in political science. Given his lack of experience and slanderish rhetoric, how has Trump maintained the attention and vote of the Republican electorate? To answer this question, I will not depend on concepts such as voter turnout and demographic blocs often used by political scientists. Instead, I will explore the religion of Donald Trump. For this ambitious task, I will employ philosopher William James and his The Varieties of Religious Experience to illuminate the personal side of religious politics, alongside with sociologist Emile Durkheim and his The Elementary Forms of Religious Life to unpack the communal side. Given that individual voters constitute the electorate in American politics, Donald Trump must derive support from disposed and amenable persons. However, before exploring this idea, I must introduce William James conception of religion to find these disposed and amenable persons. • 11. The Leadership Of A Global Society Youssef Aguisoul Prototype Leaders within Diversity Kennesaw State University Leadership in a Global Society Fall 2015 Culture was and always going to be alive, it never dies. However, today is different, culture is spreading rapidly, and it became vital to acknowledge at least the basics of each culture. Due to multiplicity of cultures within societies, not any leader could lead a group of followers, but only prototype leaders who are needed to lead diverse organizations nowadays. Leadership becomes difficult; it requires awareness of one s culture and skills to navigate within several cultures. Immigrants migrates every day to a new country, marketing is becoming internationally advertised, technology, media, all of these aspects changed the way life used to be seen. Today, it is unprofessional for leaders to not acknowledge a little background of their followers, or at least to be aware of what is their basic values. Therefore, for leaders to be successful in maintaining a good relation with their followers in today s diverse society and in reaching success for their companies, I believe that they must be characterized by five major qualities. Farsighted, collaborative, inspirational, humble and respectful are the prototype qualities whom leaders must be portrayed as in a diverse society. Surely one of the common goals between leaders is success. And success cannot be reached in the absence of Leaders farsightedness and wisdom. Regardless of how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In it, a pale blue whale of immense size surfaced and swam gently, like a dropping tear on a cheek. All the misery from around the world was drawn to the sea and formed its ripples. The whale swallowed the grief silently, from the northeast to the southwest, and the world was quiet and peaceful. Over time, the whale could no longer bear and hold the sorrows inside his body. The pain transformed and twisted into a long, grey tooth; it pierced through his forehead like a unicorn s horn. One day, people saw this anguished whale from the shore. They were amazed by a creature they had never seen before. They gazed at his splendid horn, and a strong greed grew inside of their hearts. People took boats, wood, and anything that could let them float. They surrounded the whale and trapped him, but the whale was too huge to be carried. So, they used thick ropes to hitch his head, ... God s Predestination In the articles, The Decree: Trinity and predestination , Creation: God s Time for Us , and Providence God s Care for all He has made by Michael Horton we learn that the doctrine of God s predestination of all things is clearly taught in scripture. Creation is not the result of primordial violence or conflict, but the free decision, and generous, outgoing activity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in covenant love. God s providence is his sustenance and governance of all things, including sin and evil, for good of his people and the glory of his wisdom and grace in Christ. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The creation narrative is not a myth, but an account of God s free historical act and his claim upon all reality. The pattern of ex nihilo creation is a constant biblical parallel for the new creation language of redemption. The doctrine of creation is at the heart of the sharp contrast between the biblical worldview and the various monisms and dualisms of pagan ontologies. The author talks about creative communication and the integrity of creation. He said that the Bible represents God s personal effective speech. Humans were created as communicative partners in this covenant, to lead the rest of creation in its hearing of God s speech and response of praise. He also presented beyond God of the gaps in which he developed the God of the Gap apologetic and design and contingency. Finally in chapter ten, he addressed I am the alpha and the omega : original, continual, and new creation in which he said that God s act not only of preserving creatures but continually bringing about their fruitfulness and their ongoing diversity. Furthermore in chapter eleven, he stated that providence is based on scripture. There are three classes of scripture passages regarding providence such as soteriology, common grace, and theodicy. Many Christians who have trouble accepting divine sovereignty in salvation nevertheless recognize God s absolute lordship over nature and history. The author mention that scripture does not say that God does all things himself, or that everything that happens is good in itself, but that God works all things together for our good. • 14. Analysis Of Truman Capote s The Novel Cold Blood Real crime or true story is a recently denomination term used to refer to nonfictional acting of actual crimes, usually murders. There has been little methodical study of the genre; critics and scholars offer contradictory theories about true crime literature. Although the term and the popularity of the genre are relatively new, factual accounts of crimes are not. True crime accounts date back as far as the 18th century, and such writers as Edmund Pearson, William Roughead, and Jonathan Goodman described the exploits of criminals earlier in the twentieth century. Critics agree that Truman Capote s In Cold Blood gave birth to the genre (Fathers fall 1990). Called a nonfiction novel, the book was a not factual account of the murder of a Kansas family in which Capote focused on the killers not the victims, as was the norm previously. In attempting to explain why the killers acted as they did, Capote s work and Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo work could be considered classics of the genre. This essay takes its print to compare and contrast the two crime based movies by looking into their content and setting to bringing out their similarities and differences. It also outlines some of the benefits of such genres is society. Most crime movies are real life crime inspired. Burning coal in the city centers produced electricity and also helped to heat buildings. Only people near from the city were able to use electricity because there was not way to transmit the electricity to rural areas. After a long time coal plants started to grew and people were facing difficulties because the coal plants occupied space and they also produced pollution to the city. Even though they did not have the same efficacy to obtain electricity they were finding a way to improve it. At the beginning of 1970 technology began to improve, so many mass produce engines were produce and they can be located in the middle of the population, also decentralized plants were used to recycle the wasted heat. Suddenly his previous characterization no longer stands; suddenly it is clear he was described as an outcast because he has access to this higher meaning in a way his audience might not. It s worth again making explicit that the previously established form of the novella breaks down here. Not only does poetry briefly inhabit the waking life, but so too does the higher meaning it has come to represent. But what s important here is not only that the narrative structure is broken here, but who breaks it: the male poet. One explanation for this is a matter of difference in class. That is, the poet has access precisely because he did not grow up under the circumstances of high society, while Cecily s social status renders her incapable of having depth. Yet, the version of Cecily we see in her dreams does not support this reading; even in the presence of poetry she retains her social identity, and is even warned of her swaddled (51) upbringing. Rather, the relevant distinguishing feature between Cecily and the poet is that he is a man. While male poets may be seen as lower class or even unrespectable, women who pursue poetry are seen as pitiable, and as having a dangerous illness (60). In short: poetry is not an option, and thus not even a consideration for women. There is perhaps something to be said that the women are shown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That once everyone was on the field or at the game, we were all the same. I believed that it was an activity that did not have a political influence and it was purely for entertainment. While I still believe some of that is true, this class has challenged my view point by forcing me to view sports through a different lens. As students, we tend to look at everyday activities through our personal experiences and assume that everyone else around us is experiencing them the same way. We tend to overlook the truth because we are uncomfortable admitting that things such as discrimination, and sexism still happen in today s world. More specifically, I was challenged to look at my life experiences in three different categories. These categories include the effect of neoliberalism on today s society, my social class, and my race. Through these three categories, I was able to pull out the differences between my own life and the lives of others. By viewing the same experience through another person s eyes, I noticed the extreme differences that they are going through because of the influence from society. Obamacare is also facing many obstacles, politicians want to repeal it, people with low income need it, and the debate on its success is on going. Politicians, republicans in particular have been unsupportive of Obamacare and democrats are also on the fence with the Obamacare bill. It was passed in 2010 and created by Barrack Obama that allows individuals the opportunity to obtain affordable health care. The family is a community, no matter how big or small it may be. The idea of what constitutes a family varies across nations and cultures. Some people differentiate between the nuclear family and the extended family, while others view both components as one whole. This was due to the low fertility control and late marriages in nineteenth century North America. Couples were bearing children at a much older age, shortening the mutual lifetime between a grandparent and a grandchild. This generation gap also explained why most households barely contained any elderly relatives. Another reason for the prevailing nuclear family structure is the high fertility rate. Parents were producing more than one child and when those children got married and had children of their own, the family would have been too large to reside in just one home. This forced the siblings to create their own nuclear families once they got married and moved out. Shorter life spans and an increased fertility rate, were the prerequisites for North America s nuclear family arrangement. The Extended Family Sociologists Castillo, Weisblat, and Villareal go to a lengthy extent in order to support the fact that a clear definition for the extended family does not exist , however, for the sake of this research, it will be defined as being composed of any kin outside of the nuclear family. He is not really mentioned by anyone except Martial, who calls him eloquent and describes him as living a poor life kissing up to the rich. It is thought that his family was fairly well off, and that the first step he made towards a career was when he became an officer in the army in the administrative service of the emperor Domitian (81 96 CE) but was never promoted, which upset him. Upset, he wrote a satire about how court favorites had an unfair influence in the promotion system, and as a result of this writing he was given the boot and banished to Syene, a remote frontier town (now Aswan in Egypt). His property was also confiscated. After Domitian kicked the bucket in 96, Juvenal made his return to Rome. However without any money he had no choice to be a client on the charity of the rich.
