Youth Sports Injuries
In today s society, youth sports programs are heavily involved in the everyday lives of different
families and communities within different cities. These programs help provide our youth with
positive leadership skills along with physical and mental development. While these youth sports
programs should be fun and challenging, certain liability risks can become present and may result
in lawsuits against the organization that hosts these types of programs. Youthsports programs are
becoming more and more competitive and the risk of injuries is growing, which are raising
concerns of liability issues and more lawsuits being filed. This paper will examine a case involving
a youth sports injurydue to negligence and also help layout preventative guidelines to help my
business avoid these same issues. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was one case that was very interesting to me and in a way pertains to the type of business I
am pursing to open upon my degree completion. Here is a brief summary of the case of Leahy vs.
The School Board of Hernando County in 1984. Leahy a football player, who was a freshman at
the time, did not receive proper football equipment due to the school did not have enough
equipment for all participants of the football program. Without the required equipment, helmet and
mouth guard, the player was still expected to partake in what was called non aggressive quickness
drills against other players with the required equipment. There were other players that attempted the
drill, but Leahy was the first player to attempt the drill without protective equipment. The case
reports that Leahy claimed that there were no special instructions given to players that had
equipment versus players that had no equipment. As Leahy attempted the drill, he suffered facial
injuries and shattered his front teeth. The case reports that this was caused by the aggressiveness
that had developed over time by all players involved and also the impact of the

The Song Analysis Of Kwadi Mudda
Analysis
This song gives a message to the Lambadas regarding their cultivation, poverty, and intimate
relationship with sevalal and Laxmana. It also carries their social live and economic conditions.
Though it is a small song it gives a good message and provokes thought. Initial words have been
repeated in all the four lines to add a perfect melody to the song. In the third line of the song the
word Kwadi Mudda reflects their food habit, which means lump of chilli powder. The song starts
with the description of land cultivation and food that they get from the land then in the second line
she made a comparison of Lambada with god Sevalal and laxmana. This comparison signifies their
relationship and honest with the god. In the third line a lump of curry shows their poverty and food
habits at last the song ends with a consoling mood.

International Economics And The Field Of International...
I would like to mention some courses that I have taken at Knox College that not only have
encouraged me to take up the particular field of study as a major, but have also fortified me to
volunteer and intern in the field of international development. These courses are: International
Economics (Manisha Pradhananga, Professor), Business Society (John Spittell, Professor)
Environmental Natural Resource Economics(Steve Cohn, Professor) and Environmental Ethics (Bill
Young, Professor). These particular courses had a great impact on my decision to pursue a major in
Economics and a double minor in International Relations Business.
In International Economics, I had written a research paper on low income nations and their
dependence on primary commodities for exports and its vulnerability to price shocks. I had carried
out my research only keeping applied economics in perspective, therefore, I could not really
understand as to why these low income countries, although having a wide variety of natural
resources readily available for production and consumption, still struggling to alleviate themselves
from poverty and poor health. The reality and the real life scenario of such situations was explained
to me in the Environmental Economics class by Professor Steve Cohn. Toward the end of the term,
I was assigned to write another research paper on greenhouse gas abatement options for third world
nations. The ideal solution that came up while working on the project was developed

Essay on The Devil Wears Prada Film Case Study
The Devil Wears Prada
Film Case Study
The Devil Wears Prada is a movie about a naГЇve, yet smart young woman named Andrea Sachs,
and her journey to becoming a journalist. Andrea, also known as Andy, graduated from
Northwestern University and interviewed for a job at Runway, a major fashion magazine in New
York City. Being a simple young woman, Andy wasn t necessarily up to speed with the fashion
industry, but ended up landing the job. Miranda Priestly, editor in chief at Runway hired Andy
because she was different from any of her previous assistants. If Andy worked as an assistant to
Miranda for at least a year, she was under the impression that she could easily be hired as a
journalist in the future. The only problem was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even Emily, Miranda s other assistant began to get jealous of Andy s accomplishments.
I think Miranda displays several different types of power throughout the movie. Individuals with
legitimate power can influence people through requests or demands within their position.
Miranda uses her power sources in this way through authority among her co workers. Even
though reward power and coercive power are opposite, Miranda carried out both. It s obvious
that she conducts coercive power by using threatening gestures and the fear of punishment to
gain power among her work place. Miranda portrays reward power in a case like Andy s because
being at Runway for a year will give her extensive job opportunities in the future. Miranda knows
that Andy is a smart, hard worker, and she ll do whatever she is told in order to remain an
assistant, and be rewarded with a good job in the future. Out of the three power bases I ve
mentioned for Miranda, I think legitimate power is most important and prominently used in her
character role. Legitimate power is similar to the learning style we ve been experiencing is
class. Nigel had worked with Miranda for several years, and by now had built a strong relationship
with her. She still bossed him around, just like she did everyone else, but he knew all of her
tricks and was able to respond to her better than most of her colleagues. Nigel was very
knowledgeable not only

Operations Strategy at Galanz
1. What were the order winners/order qualifiers for Galanz in the microwave oven business during
the early stage of its development?
Quality is one of most important factors for order qualifiers because it provided reliability for
customers to use them. However, the low price strategy was the order winner during the early
stage of development of Galanz. To win orders, Galanz adopted a low price strategy. Low product
prices which can be afforded by domestic market triggered more demand. With this increased
demand, Galanz achieved greater economies of scale, which helped to lower costs and prices
further. In addition, it also attracted foreign manufacturers to transfer their production facilities to
Galanz. With the cheap price of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This contrasts with traditional Western operating hours of 40/week and allowed them to increase
production scale and reduce production costs relative to many of their competitors. Finally they
pursued vertical integration of the supply chain to reduce costs and improve quality, leading to
90% of Galanz s microwave parts being produced by Galanz itself. Each of these operational
strategies support the competitive cost leadership strategy by exploiting economies of scale to
generate large scale production and achieve low cost efficiency.
5.What are the differences between OEM/ODM versus OBM in terms of production, design,
marketing, distribution, and customer service?
Original equipment manufacturers produce a necessary component of another company s product,
often relying on economies of scale to drive down production costs. OEM s typically don t
provide customer support, instead passing on those responsibilities to their client whom bought the
original product. Original design equipment manufacturers on the other hand, produce a product
that is eventually rebranded once purchased by another company and can be thought of as
outsourcing . The main difference between the two is that OEM s produce a product by their
own specifications, while ODM s produce products by another company s specifications. ODM s
also aren t in charge of final distribution, while OEM s are. Another difference is that unlike OEM
s, ODM s also

The director of this part was the wife of Byron Delto, Clare Delto. They had also one Armenian
accompanist Leon Thomasian. If I am not mistaken he was alumni of Glendale Community
College and had a master degree in music. The first piece of this part was the old music
composed by Henry Macini and arranged by Jay Althouse called The Pink Panther . I like the
mood that this music brings with it. I use to play this song on the piano during my childhood. It
was very interesting to hear this music with the unique performance of this ensemble. They were
imitating the music without a single world and it was awesome because with the variation, tone,
accents and temp in their voices and with the gestures and mimics of their body they were
bringing to me the feeling of something strange that would happen within every moment and then
in the ending there is a culmination of this story with atonal harmony. Then a solo male artist
probably a student started singing an acapella the famed song Lately by Stevie Wonder. It was a
very spectacular performance without any microphone or special equipment for voice enhancing.
I am pretty sure that he had a strong tenor voice with a very artistic behavior. After 60 s Rewind

Unpaid Interns, Complicit Colleges
Students aspire to have a successful job after graduating college. Many of them sign up for
internships hoping that it would help them with their chosen professions. I define an internship as a
temporary position that emphasizes on on the job training, which can either be paid or unpaid.
Students sign up for an internshipto gain experience for their future career. In his article, Unpaid
Interns, Complicit Colleges , author Ross Perlin reveals that colleges have taken advantage of
student through the school s administration of the internship programs. This paper will analyze the
main argument and four pieces of evidence in order to evaluate the strength of the argument. The
author argues that schools have unfairly made unpaid internships... Show more content on

He states, Three quarters of the 10 million students enrolled in America s four year colleges and
universities will work as interns at least once before graduating ... Between one third and half will
get no compensation for their efforts (499 500). This evidence is relevant since it clearly supports
the author s claim that colleges allow unpaid internship. This may not necessarily imply that the
colleges are bad, but this clearly shows the high occurrence of such cases. It shows the high number
of students who do not get paid while working as interns. The information was taken from
established research institutes, therefore the evidence is credible. The College Employment
Research Institute conducts an annual survey of national employers seeking their intentions for
hiring new college graduates ( College Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University
), while the Intern Bridge is the nation s premier college recruiting, consulting and research firm
(http://www.internbridge.com/). However, there was no information about the date when the
statistic was taken or when the study was performed, and this made the evidence less sufficient. The
evidence will be more sufficient if the date was mentioned and if it was current. Again, this
evidence is addressed to students to present them with details about unpaid internship and be
cautious when considering internship in their

Character Of Satan
Satan as portrayed by John Milton is a very different kind of a character. Abercrombie remarks
Paradise Lost exists for one figure that is Satan . He is also the most important character of the
epic. The leader of the rebel angels in Heaven and the uncrowned monarch of Hell, Satan uses his
words tactfully which helps know his personality. When we hear the word, Satan, we immediately
think evil. Evilness is the trademark of Satan s personality but Satan actually has characteristics of a
respectable person, which is quite evident through his speeches. Satan s character is multifaceted
and can be interpreted in numerous lights.
But first we must know who Satan was. Satan used to be one of the most important of God s
angels. He rebelled against God. Satan persuaded a third of the ... Show more content on

He opens the speech as a magnificent set piece. It reveals the character of Satan an aggressive rebel
and a great leader. His encouragements, haughtiness and sympathy with his followers involve bold
words and sentiments.
Satan s next speech begins with line157 and ends with line 192. Fallen Cherub, to be weak is
miserable,............ If not what resolution from despair.
In his second speech Satan motivates other angels tat they cant offer to be weak when their aim
should be evil. Their main aim now should be to reverse good to evil. He is trying to gather his
power and influence back.
One interesting aspect to be seen is that Satan is acting like a hero. He doesn t give up on something
once he starts. Satan greatest quality as a leader is his readiness to act under all circumstances.
Not only is he ready to face the terrors but also he motivates and directs all the angels to come out
of their gloom and take action. Satan is trying to infuse fresh courage into them.
He indeed is the harbinger of light among to the depressed followers, but such a light that makes
them, all the more fierce, destroying everything that they may consider

Oppression Of Women
The oppression of women has been happening since the beginning of time and religion is one huge
factor that often hides in the dark. Christianity is the world s largest religion and its oppression of
women will be brought to light. Christians use their beliefs and stance to oppress women socially,
physically and mentally.
Christianity, is the belief in Christ as the one and only God and his teachings transmitted through
the holy bible. Christians often fall into two categories, Conservatives and Liberals. Conservatives
are more likely to follow their religion more strictly and to be devoted to scripture. They often
believe everything in the bible undoubtedly and for this reason, are more likely to oppress
women, using scripture as an ok for this behavior. Liberals, on the other hand, are more open
minded and mainly focus on the teaching of God s unconditional love for all. Liberals are more
likely to be egalitarian while Conservatives are more likely to have prejudice towards people who
have different beliefs or way of life.
Christianity oppresses women in one huge way which is by emphasizing the belief that women are
created for men and are meant to serve their husband. One verse that demonstrates this is, He
[Solomon] had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives
led him astray. 1 Kings 11:3 (Tarico, 2012) This verse shows that women were seen as objects and
married against their will so that their husband would have a better

How Has The American Dream Changed
Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone with opportunity for each according to
ability or achievement. This a quote by James Truslow Adams written in his book The Epic
America describing what the American Dream was in 1931 when the book was written. In this
quote he is emphasizing that the American Dreamdoesn t represent a quest for wealth but rather a
vision for personal fulfillment. Over the course of the years the American Dream has changed in
ways which we not only want to live a white picket fence life , but to be able to afford all the
modern materials, cars, televisions, and college educations for ones children s
.
Just how much has the American Dream changed? Well let s go back to where it first originated.
Dating back to the 1800 s people began finding gold in the state of California. This started an
uproar in people coming over to America (mainly California) to try and find their overnight fortune
of gold, few being successful. Thus the California dream was born, being the dream of instant
success. Soon this dream began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chronic Periodontitis
Chronic periodontitis is a complex disease that is mainly caused by intraoral biofilm harbouring
periodontal pathogenic microorganisms. This results in progressive destruction of periodontal
ligament and alveolar bone with pocket formation, recession or both. Hence the goal of periodontal
therapy is to eliminate these pathogenic organisms in the subgingival biofilm to achieve
homeostasis. Non surgical periodontal therapy is the keystone and first mode of treatment
recommended for most periodontal infections. However, this treatment protocol does have
limitations. Although the bacteriaare initiating agents in periodontitis, the host response to the
pathogenic microorganisms is critical to disease progression. The adjunctive use of systemic... Show

The dosage and duration of the antibiotic regime used along with surgical procedures vary greatly in
the literature. However it is important that antibiotics should be taken in a minimum bactericidal
concentration and for a minimum duration to limit the risk of side effects, especially the
development of microbial antibiotic resistance. Apart from the traditional diagnostic procedures,
the use of biochemical markers in assessing the progression of the disease activity and risk for
periodontitis has gained a great importance. It can be detected in serum, whole saliva or gingival
crevicular fluid. They represent as inflammatory mediators, collagen degradation and bone turnover
related molecules. In inflamed periodontal tissues along with the breakdown of periodontal
structures, it may also lead to resorption of alveolar bone. The factors involved in bone destruction
are bacterial and host mediated. Bacterial plaque products induce the differentiation of bone
progenitor cells into osteoclasts and stimulate gingival cells to release mediators that have the same
effect. They can also act directly on osteoblasts or their progenitors, inhibiting bone formation and

Examples Of Stereotypes In Urban Cities
Stereotypes of urban cities commonly reflect the portrayal of minorities which they are seen as
poor and criminals in comparison to the middle and upper Caucasian class. Such stereotypes are an
effect of environmental racism. However, to divert from the spread of negative and racist
stereotypes, the local government must reflect a better city. In this paper, I am going to explain the
benefits of new regionalism in relation to urban cities and minorities. Having influence from
Manuel Pastor and Myron Orfield, minorities need attention from their local government to better
their lives. I will argue for the practice of sustainable farming for urban cities as a positive
reinforcement for urban growth. Sustainable farming provides an... Show more content on

With new regionalism, the government responds to negativity and provides comfort and change for
the locals of the city. This also promotes a positive image for the communities which makes it more
appealing to outsiders of the cities. Communities rely on their government to act against local
problems and provide safety. Latino Americans are affected by outward sprawl and the
development of smart growth; yet, Latinos face economic and racial disparities in both rural and
urban settings. Although Latinos have an affinity for new urbanism and the city, Latino families
are moving outward into the suburbs which the population numbers are almost equally divided
between city and suburbs (Pastor 82). The growing Latino population in the suburbs shows the
sense of community and the strong ties to their agriculture and rural background. Nonetheless, the
Latino urban communities are facing poverty and economy issues while Latino suburbans are
making a life for themselves. To address urban problems affecting race, urban cities should include
equity oriented regionalism within their government; equity oriented regionalism is attentive to
economic and environment problems in the city while focusing on race (Pastor 76). One
subdivision of equity oriented regionalism is municipality based regionalism which stresses mutual
benefits for inner city and suburb cooperation in order to make urban communities stronger (Pastor
77). Urban minorities face many racial

Example Of The Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation
Think back if you were born in the 1800 s and you had to be raised in slavery time and racism was
a huge issue. How could you handle this as a child growing up with your parents struggling to
take care of you or even getting taken away from your parents. The fugitive slave act came
around in the 1850 s which any slave who ran away shall be captured and punished in jail and pay a
fine slaves didn t make enough money to pay fines so they would sit in prison. Slavery was heavily
forced in the south because they were profit. Also officers were given a bonus and promotions
for catching slaves. The fee of trying to escape was 1,000 dollars and 6 months in prison slaves
didn t make that type of money to even pay half of that price.Slaves were treated so foul it was
very unhuman like .
The beginning, In the 1800 s slavery was a huge issue in the south because African Americans in
the North were free because those were free states and slaves would use the Underground railroad to
escape to the North,Canada,or Mexico. The Emancipation Proclamation, or Proclamation 95, was a
presidential proclamation and executive order out by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1,
1863. It changed the federal legal status of more than 3 million enslaved people in the South
from slave to free people. As and slave escaped the control of the confederate government was by

Schizophrenic Patient Analysis
This script presents as an original, character driven story about self discovery. The concept of
schizophrenic patient and his psychiatrist going on a road trip journey has merit. The goal for John
is clear: he wants to find the devil. The stakes appear to be more emotion and mental.
The strength of the script is John. He s a troubled and confused man. He believes in peace, but
doesn t know how to find it. It s really more about John finding inner peace and love. The idea that
at the end the devil turns out to be him, is clever. It s very psychological.

Then create an inciting event that drives the protagonist s goal. Something should trigger John to
want to find the devil. It s unclear right now what that trigger really is. By the end of the first act,
the goal for John (if he s the true protagonist) should be clear (find the devil) and he should have a
plan of action. On a smaller note, Sarah could also be the protagonist and the story told from her
point of view.
The second act should focus and center on John achieving his goal. While, again, it does focus on
John s search for the devil, the tension isn t strong or compelling. If he s going to rob a bank add
more tension like he might be hurt or caught. Create a stronger midpoint that changes the direction
for John or Sarah. Continue to develop their relationship and chemistry. Clarify how Sarah helps
John. Make Sarah a more likable character. Give John what s called an all is lost moment when he
has a psychological breakdown or he feels he ll never be able to accomplish his goal. Also, make
the police more realistic.

One of my friends in high school got pregnant in her sophomore year. She and the father decided

Muslim women wear the veil for a variety of reasons, which vary from individual to individual and
from culture to culture.
Muslim women living in North America and Europe often face scrutiny over their choice to wear
the veil, even though many Western people do not fully understand the practice.
There are many misconceptions and stereotypes about why Muslim women wear veils.
I think all Muslim women are stupid and weak, and this is why they are forced to wear the veil in
submission to their husbands. Instructor Explanation:
As Crapo (2013, p.53) notes, cultural relativism is, the idea that the significance of an act is best
understood by the standards of the actor s own culture. In this statement, the student is drawing
upon opinion, rather than research on the cultural significance of wearing the veil.

As the author of your textbook, Crapo (2013, p.52) notes, we need not, for instance, come to value
infanticide in order to understand the roles it may play in peoples lives in a society where it is
customary. What cultural relativism requires of us is simply that we do not confuse our own
feelings about such a custom with understanding it. To do the latter, we must investigate the

(localized groups of neurons with similar inputs and outputs), that control movements in the fingers,
hands, and legs. This coordinated activation can then be made complex and lets us do multijoint
movements such as reaching. Before the study the theory was that during skills learning, the
connectivity between these neural assemblies change. These changes were viewed as differences in
cortical synapse numbers, synaptic strength, and the topography of stimulation evoked movement
representation. They did a study with adult rats to measure these changes while they do an obstacle
course. Some rats had to learn limb placement and posture control to finish a complex obstacle
course, and the others walked an unobstructed course. The rats that were required to learn limb
placement and posture control because of the complex obstacle course, showed increases in synapse
number within the motor cortex compare to the rats doing the simple obstacle. The synaptic
changes seen here are thought to show the changes in cortical circuitry that results in the
reorganization of the neural assemblies encoding movement. Therefore proving the theory correct.
All this data indicates that training on a skill produces alterations in the... Show more content on

For example rats were given free access for 30 days to run on a wheel. They had increased blood
flow and creation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) in their motor cortex compared to the rats
with no wheel. These increases were not found in the frontal cortex or other subcortical areas, so
this means that these changes are specific to the areas activated by the training. This data lets us
know that exercise can create an increase in blood flow, growth but does not induce any amount of
changes in the cortical

Bycatch Research Paper
The term has been written by Simon Northridge. what is bycatch? It is the unfortunate event of
marine mammals getting caught and killed during fishing.most of the time, these mammals deaths
were completely unintentional by the fishermen but it regularly happens during fishing operations.
Bycatch is therefore incidental catches. No matter the fishinggear, they have all catched at least
once, unwanted marine mammals especially in greatly fished areas. Species like whales, porpoises
and others find their way into these gears but are unable to get out of them. A staggering 300, 000
marine mammals are killed through bycatch. For many years, and to this day, bycatches of marine
mammals are seen as bonus and therefore used to sell for consumption.... Show more content on

The issue with delphinids contrary to dolphins, once they are caught in purse seine nets with
yellowphin tuna, they cannot escape it and therefore die. Although this issue what happening as
early as in the 1950 s, it only started getting monitored in the 1970 s. for the many years when it
was happening, the annual mortalities were around 200 500, 000. Even with the new monitoring,
many dolphins are continuously being killed through this fishing technique. Thanks to dolphin safe
labels and movement, there has been great improvement on this practice. This improvement has
led to a reduction of dolphin mortalities to less than 1500 per year in 2004. Unfortunately, even
with this progress, dolphins and the other marine mammals affected are struggling to repopulate
because of how affected the species were from all the previous years but also since large scale
captures are still going on.
The discovery of the effect of the ETP tuna fishery on dolphins has opened the door to a
realization that other fisheries are killing several other marine mammals. The baji Lipotes
vexillifer is now declared extinct as well as the vaquita Phocoena sinus. The Baji is a Chinese river
dolphin and its extinction is caused by fishing lines; it is a long line of sharp hooks used for other
fish but since it is used in the same Chinese river than the Baji, it catches and kills

Two Seperate Political Groups In The 19th Century
Anytime two separate political groups try to share their ideas with others their becomes this
tension and fude, especially during the 19th century because people were less accepting of
multiple ideologies and multiple political outlooks. Also liberalists tend to change laws as long as
they remain based on liberty and equality. Liberalist believe at all costs our basic liberties
(freedom of speech etc..) should be preserved as well as our equality. Conservatives on the other
hand believe in traditional values and feel more comfortable when things remain constant.
Conservatives base their values on traditions and what they are used to which is difficult because

I believe the tension was at a peak in the 19th century but will always be in tact. Both of these
groups have completely different ideals on political issues. Also as many new immigrants came in
to work on plantations even more religions and cultures were introduced and it created a very
diverse Latin America. This diversity made it extremely difficult for nationalism to take place. The
nineteenth century was increasingly difficult for the liberal reformers in Latin America due to the
Caudillos. With Caudillos in place it made it difficult for either liberalism or conservatism to take
place because when there s a dictatorship people are lead by the dictators rather than swayed by
the ideals of liberals or conservatives. Caudillos even promised power to those who supported
them they were sort of the muscle of the political world at the time in Latin

Cardiovascular Health And Endothelial Function
According to Simmons and Brown (2013), the sedentary lifestyle is one of the 5 major risk
factors for cardiovascular disease and causing over 3 million deaths each year in worldwide. In the
past 10 decades, there are numerous scientific reports pointed out the relationships between
cardiovascular health and physical activities. Based on the US Surgeon General s report on
Physical Activity and Health (1997), evidence from this report shows that more active individual
tends to develop less coronary heartdisease (CHD) than sedentary counterparts. Therefore, regular
activities have been proved to have a positive effect on many of established risk factors for
cardiovascular disease. This essay, firstly, will delineate the relationship between cardiovascular
health and endothelial function. And follow by discussing how physical activities benefit
cardiovascular health and endothelial function.
The endothelium is a type of epithelium that lies on the interior surface of lymphatic vessels and
blood vessels, which are vascular endothelial cells and lymphatic endothelium. Vascular endothelial
cells have different functions, such as helps to regulate blood clotting, maintain the vascular
homeostasis, produce vasodilating properties substances or hormones (e.g. NO) to control the
blood pressure, and repair the diseased or damaged via injection of blood vessel cells. Evidence
from many scientific studies shows that there is a strong association between endothelial

Should Heart Of Darkness Be Taught In Schools
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is a highly debated book over whether or not it should be
read in schools. Many people see Heart of Darkness as a racist book that is blatantly offensive to
African Americans, but others view Heart of Darkness as an important book that explores many
complex ideas, such as the internal conflict between a man s sanity and insanity, and Conrad s
opposition to Imperialism, which was very prevalent during the time the book was written. While
the opponents of Heart of Darknesssay that this book should not be read in schools, I believe the
book can be utilized in an academic environment. The opposers to this book do make a reasonable
and correct point that this book uses very strong language and seems to be racist, Conrad did not
intend to convey racist perspectives, rather, taking on that role to further his point towards
Imperialism. Although it uses strong language in the book, that was used to show how Europeans
viewed Africans during the time period. This should be read in an academic environment because

The Legend Of Atlantis By Plato
Atlantis The legend of Atlantis was first introduced to the world at approximately 360 BC, by
the ancient Greek philosopher Plato in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias who hear of the legend
from Greek lawmaker Solon who was told of the tale by Egyptian priests during his visit to
Egypt. In his dialogues, Plato describes an affluent and powerful nation which arose directly from
the Greek God of the Sea, Poseidon. However, their opulence ceased as they became too greedy,
wicked and impious which led the Gods to destroy Atlantis. Since the legend of Atlantis s debut into
the world, it has long captivated many due to the ongoing possibility of the existence of the island.

Plato writes, The entire area was densely crowded with habitations; and the canal and the largest
of the harbors were full of vessels and merchants coming from all parts (cited in Donnelly, 1882,
p.14). Although it is commonly believed that Plato s writing in regards to Atlantis is a myth, his
writing about Atlantis shows a clear correlation with the Minoan civilisation. This is evidenced in
the ship procession fresco (cited in Cartwright, 2014), a contemporary source artifact from an
excavated Minoan settlement, which illustrates numerous ships along the harbor, where fishing
and trading is occurring among crowds. The artifact shows a strong connection between Plato s
description of the life and bustle of Atlantis as both civilisations have a strong trade network and
vessels and populous. Due to the remarkable detailing and intricacy of the features displayed on
the artifact, it suggests that the scene must have actually been viewed to be painted with such
description. Not only does the artifact confirm the Minoans vast trading skills and match Plato s
description of Atlantis, but it is also going to show how clever and advanced they were as a
civilisation which further validates the civilisations resemblances with Atlantis. Oft cited author
Rodney Castledon (1998, p. 82) in his widely admired book, Atlantis Destroyed, he asserts, The

Themes Of Guilt, Loss, And Acceptance
As human beings, we have the capacity for understanding. Poetry allows a writer to express the
most personal experiences, thus allowing corresponding reliability among individuals. Through
the captivating focus of each poem, themes of guilt, loss, and acceptance allows for an
overarching sense of cultural cognizance. The poem, To my father, written by Frank Bidart
exhibits the passing of a father (319). Wanda Coleman s poem, Dear Mama, depicts a loss of a
loved one (354). Theresa Hak Kyung Chadepicts depression in, Dead Words (430). Poems that are
personal and emotional have been modified and persistent. There is a higher focus on experiences
through subtlety. This allows the poems to speak to the heart of man. These relatable incidents
provide a systematized congruency between delicate situations. Furthermore dismissing divisions
placed by society in regards to income, social class, and race.
Bidart wrote this poem on the account of his father s death. The father is described as a distant
stranger. Through this distance, anxiety and guilt can be seen throughout the poem. Bidart begins
the poem by saying, I walked into the room , and from the first line, we can see a detachment
between the father and son. The words the room provides a cold attitude towards the death of the
father. Objects residing in the home appear to be communicating to the speaker, defining the sound

The Current State Consists Of Fragmented Processes
The current state consists of fragmented processes, which is the source of all productivity issues
and inefficiency in the construction industry. The future state should be project focused rather than
process focused . To achieve this desired future state it is essential that these processes are
transformed to a more integrated approach. There should be better collaboration between the
different stakeholders in the industry such as architects, builders, owners and regulatory agencies

these involved parties are adversarial. This can lead to the project being marred with schedule

Throughout history, across all cultures, people have been fascinated with twins. In addition to
interest in the close emotional ties and biological similarities that twins may share, reports of
special twin languages and twin extrasensory perception (ESP) help people to explore ideas of what
it means to be human. How similar or different are they to each other? How important are genes and
environment for development? Because identical twins share all of their genes, it is the
environment rather than genetics that accounts for any differences between them. ... Show more

and Shields studies, MISTRA twins were discovered on the basis of similarity and their
knowledge of each other s existence. Also, Minnesota study also lack of case histories and the
failure to share data. Although most of the earlier researchers were viewing twins through a
hereditary lens, their descriptions provided a wealth of information.
Method of research and Findings In this study, they are used several type of method, one of the
technique is used two or more test instrument to ensure the adequate coverage, for example the
participants were given a battery of personality and mental ability tests, interest and value
inventories and psychomotor tests. In addition, separate of examiners administer the IQ test, life
history interview, psychiatric interview and sexual life history interview. The twin also complete
questionnaire independently under the constant supervision of the staff members. Twin studies are
valuable to researchers because identical twins share 100% of their genes and fraternal twins share,
on average, 50% of their genes. Both identical and fraternal twins share certain aspects of their
environment (e.g. religious practices in the home). This allows researchers to estimate the
heritability of certain traits. Participants are asked about academic ability, personality, and interests;
family and social relationships; mental and physical health; physiological measurements. Of interest
to researchers are prevalence of psychopathology, substance

I Want To Become A Veterinarian Essay
I want to become a veterinarian after high school because, animals deserve to be happy. Most
domestic animals will be abused in their life, which is sickening. If an animal is abused I want to
be there to help them recover. My future job will change society because, animals make people
happy and if the animalsare happy so are their owners. I think animals deserve to be seen by vets
regularly so that they stay as healthy as can be.
I want to become a veterinarian simply because, I will meet new animals and possibly travel the
world and open pet hospitals. There are many fields under the veterinarian roof. Some vets
inspect pet food to make sure it is up to the health code, while others try to detect food borne
diseases, such as E coli, in livestock (StudentScholarships.) I think being a vet is the best job for
me because, working with animals is fun and it s for a great cause. Being a vet has many perks,
firstly veterinarians get paid extremely well, secondly vets can be certified for other jobs like
dentistry, and finally vets get to work directly with animals on a daily basis and play a vital part
in treating animals for diseases (MediPathways.) Being a vet helps society in many ways, as stated
above. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to be accepted to Stetson University I need to get good grades for the rest of high school.
I found out that Stetson University would be a good school for me because, they are an animal
friendly environment and they have excellent science classes (MyMajors 2015.) This training is
the best for me because, once again, Stetson allows pets on campus. This will allow me to see the
behavior of pets and possibly help out peers if their pet is sick. Stetson is the perfect school for
me, because the campus is pet friendly and there are amazing science

Taxation of Foreign Corporations Essay
The past 150 years has seen corporations rise and become the main social institution for doing
business in America and across the globe. During the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries
America was marked by individually owned family oriented businesses. This framework began to
change with the economic growth in both America and Europe during the period between the
Civil War and World War I. A system once driven by granting charters seen as privileges has
evolved into a complex system beyond the understanding of any one person. This complexity often
translates into irregularities and loopholes in corporate law. This paper will examine the situations
in which individuals and corporations take advantage of these loopholes to their own... Show more

It is considered to be one of the most flexible and advanced corporate statues in America (Black).
The second is Delaware s corporation court, the Chancery Court. The specialized Chancery Court
of Delaware handles only business cases and are heard only by judges; no juries (Black).
Furthermore, the court has accumulated precedent since 1792 making its decisions predictable
which appeals to business officials (Vinzant). There are other less tangible qualities about
Delaware that can help lure in businesses, but the laws and the court are the main attractors. The
significance of the Delaware General Corporation Law lies in what are known as holding
companies, or shell companies. Delaware s corporate law is one of only three that allow for
their creation. The other two states are Nevada and Wyoming. Holding companies are corporate
subsidiaries that have ownership of the major corporation s patents, trademarks, and investments.
Of the 6,500 companies in Delaware more of them are these holding companies (Lynnley).
Holding companies are popular in part because of how easy they are to form. The processing
time for the approval of a holding company takes between 5 minutes to 60 days and the median
fee for creating a holding company is $95.00. Senator Levin of Michigan says that you have to
supply more information to get a driver s license then to form a holding company (MacDonald).

Is Marina Pisklakova The Reason Why Laws Against Domestic...
A woman called the hotline and said her husband planned to kill her. I called the police but the
officer immediately called the husband, saying, look if you do it do it quietly. and I realised
there was no hope (RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights MARINA PISKLAKOVA ). Every
year in Russia, almost 15,000 women are killed by their husbands, and over 50,000 are
hospitalized from abuse; 85% of these victims are female. In countries such as America, these
numbers are far lower, and there are many ways to get help. Many people don t realize that in
places such as Russia, if you are a victim of domestic violence, there is very little you can do to
help yourself. In fact, up until recently, there were no laws prohibiting abuse. Marina Pisklakova
is the reason why laws against domestic violence exist. She has helped thousands women break
free of abusive relationships, and has saved countless other women s lives. Marina is one of the
world s most prominent feminists. she encouraged many women to stand up for their rights, and
has paved the way for other feminists in countries where equality is nothing more than a dream.
Domestic violence is a reality for thousands of women around the world. Domestic violence is
when one member of a family physically or mentally harms another member of the family. While
abuse such as this can happen to men, 85% of domestic violence victims are women. More than
70% of victims don t report the abuse, and every year thousands of women are

Throughout most of its history, the Coors Brewing Company (Coors) has been a regionalized
brewer within the United States, specializing in high quality beer through by virtue of its source

Much of what has been accomplished by Coors over the past century has been at the management
hands of the Coors family. In the 21st century, the beer industry landscape changed dramatically. It
has evolved into a competitive industry that competes internationally at multiple levels. Coors is
looking to continue to grow and become the 5th largest brewer by volume worldwide. Many
questions arise, however, and many challenges must be met to accomplish this goal. Will Coors be
able to maintain its family culture business structure on an international stage or will it have to give
up family control to achieve its growth goal? Will Coors attempt, at least on some level, to grow its
core product organically? And if so, how will the company address its distribution logistics issues of
product delivery from Golden, Colorado? Can Coors maintain the quality level on an international
stage that has become synonymous with its domestic reputation? In essence, does the Rocky
Mountain King have the necessary competencies within the current management, and within its
business strategy/approach to become an international company? III. Industry Analysis

Janet Jenkins Results
The goal is pay for performance programs is to reward high performing employees and
encourage them to continue the good work. A. Janet Jenkins appears to be a very high
performing, valuable employee. She is well liked and works hard to support her family. Janet is
already the highest paid employee in the group, however, her work ethic and job performance
warrant her receiving a slightly higher salary increase than her co workers. If distributed evenly
among the 5 employees, each employee would receive a raise of $1500. Since she is already the
highest compensated employee but potentially the most valuable worker, I have decided to
award Janet a pay increase of $1500. I want to recognize her for her hard work and encourage her,
and I feel her co workers would understand this allocation as they all agree she is a desirable asset
to the company.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

performance rankings to the next level. C Jack Perkins undoubtedly has had a difficult year and
it is understandable that his job performance would suffer somewhat. I am assuming that Jack
was previously a hardworking employee with average to good evaluation scores prior to his

Dred Scott The American Civil War
Dred Scott was a slave and social activist who served several masters before he had sued for his
own freedom. He made history in America by launching a legal battle to gain his freedom. His
case worked its way to the Supreme Court prior to the American Civil War. Dred Scott had a
significant impact on American life during the Civil War Era because of his early years, when
he was a slave in free territory, his suit for freedom, and his legacy.( DS BIO ). Dred Scott
impacted the world tremendously during his early years. Dred Scott was born sometime around
the turn of the century, 1795, in Southampton County, Virginia. A legend has is that his name
was not Dred but was Sam, but when his brother died, he adopted his name instead. His parents
were also slaves, but it was unknown whether the Blow family owned them at his birth or after.
Peter Blow and his family relocated to Huntsville, Alabama, and then they relocated to St. Louis
Missouri( SHS ) After Peter Blow died, in the 1830 s, Scott had been sold to the U.S. Army
doctor, John Emerson. In 1836, He fell in love with a slave of a different army doctor, 19 year old
Harriet Robinson, and her ownership had been transferred over to Dr.Emerson when they were
married. In the next couple years, Dr.Emerson traveled to Illinois and to the Wisconsin Territories,
which both had prohibited slaveryin that time period. When

Student s Transition Into Elementary School Essay
A student s transition into elementary school marks a unique gateway into formal schooling that is
encumbered with new demands and susceptible to new influences. Within the past few decades,
researchers have used students school transitions as a context to examine the influence of student
teacher relationships (e.g., Birch Ladd, 1997; Ewing Taylor, 2009; Pianta Stuhlman, 2004). The
quality of these dyadic relationships is an important platform through which teachers instruct
students and students acquire multifaceted knowledge from their teachers (Pianta, 1999).
Researchers suggest that certain aspects of student teacher relationships support and regulate
students development, particularly during the early years (Pianta, 1999). Although these aspects
include teachers instruction (e.g., explicit, systematic, etc.), they also include features of the
classroom environment, such as teachers sensitivity and warmth, responsiveness, and verbal
engagement (Downer, Sabol, Hamre, 2010). When combinations of high quality and supportive
instruction are embedded within students learning, students are able to interact constructively with
their teachers and peers (Gallagher, Kainz, Vernon Feagans, White, 2013). More importantly,
aspects of instructional and classroom environment encourage students to capitalize on available
learning opportunities and to adjust to the expectations of formal schooling (Howes, Phillipsen,
Peisner Feinberg, 2000). Components of

Importance Of Countermeasures For Social Networking
Countermeasures for Social Networking Because social networking has exploded in popularity
so quickly, companies and individuals have not had much time to deal with the problems the
technology has brought to bear. Surveys taken in recent years have found that many companies
either do not have a policy in place regarding social networking or are unaware of the risks.
Recently, however, people are slowly starting to become aware of how big the danger is and that
they need to take steps to protect themselves. Company policies should touch on appropriate
usage of social media and networking sites at work as well as the kind of conduct and language
an employee is allowed to use on the sites. Currently about 40 percent of companies have
implemented a social networking policy; the rest have either suggested doing so or are not doing
anything. Many individuals and companies have been burned or heard about someone else getting
burned and have decided to do something about the issue. Social networking can be used relatively
safely and securely as long as it is used carefully. Exercising some basic safety measures can
substantially reduce the risk of using these services. Consider recommending and training users on
the following practices: Discourage the practice of mixing personal and professional information in
social networking. Although you may not be able to eliminate the company information that is
shared, it should be kept to a bare minimum. Always verify contacts, and

George Babbitt s Characters And Conformist Social Roles
Secondly, the characters experience conformist social roles. George Babbitt conforms to the
social role of being a father and husband. In Babbitt s society it is expected for men to be the bread
winner of the family and also to be faithful to his wife even if they are out of love. Babbitt is
experiencing the social stress from conforming to appear the best possible husband and father he
can be. George is out of lovewith his wife. He met Myra Babbitt when he was in college and he
did not even love her to begin with. He believed he should marry her because she was a honest
and a good wife (Lewis 81) material. Most men and women married either married for money or
that they felt obligated to marry someone to because it is expected of them.
Their marriage grew to become boring which tends to happen in most marriages. Instead of
George leaving Myra he stays, because he feels it is his moral obligation to do so. Hence, he is
out of love it leads him to temptation. Babbitt imagines a fairy child (Lewis 5). He uses the fairy
child as his escape form reality. He knows he cannot morally cheat on his wife, therefore he
imagines a life without her with other women. The first woman he imagines being with is McGoun
(describe her from the book). The second woman he imagines being with is Eunice (describe her
from the book). The third woman is (look her up). All these women resemble what he wishes his
wife could be like, McGoun is a worker, Eunice is young, and the last one is lively, Myra is none
of these things. Myra has the social life of being a housewife. She plans dinners, she reads
magazine, her children do not pay attention, and her husband does not love her. While George is
going through struggle of being faithful, he eventually gives up and cheats on Myra. The social
role is his playing is such a burden on him that he cracks under pressure and does not care what
people think of his scandalous ways. While he is having this newfound revolution, Myra is also
having her own revolution. She becomes more lively and appears younger and George falls in love
with her again. George discovers that he is allowed to have his type of fun without his wife but
also be able to take care and love Myra which is social role as a

Critique Ulrich Herbert s Good Times Bad Times Essay
The following is a critique of the article Good Times, Bad Times: Memories of The Third Reich
by Ulrich Herbert. In this critique, I will explore the themes of the article, discuss the main
arguments, and address the significance of the author s insight to the world of Nazi Germany.
Ulrich Herbert s Good Times, Bad Times is about the contrast between the ways typical working
Germans perceived the years before and during Hitler s appointment as Chancellor, his rise to
dictator, and during and after and World War II. The article cites a survey conducted by the Institut
fГјr Demoskopie (Public Opinion Institute) in 1949, as well as an oral history project conducted at
the universities of Essen and Hagen between 1930 1960. Both studies... Show more content on

99) Along with other narrators, Bromberg has little to report about the next phase [1932
through the beginning of World War II] until they are directly affected by the war through
military conscription or Allied bombing raids on their home town (Bessel, p. 101). Herbert s
recurring theme is that Quiet , normal times, then, clearly leave behind few experiences that are
imprinted on the memory and recalled in the narratives; disturbed , bad times are filled with
unique and extraordinary experiences, and come up at corresponding length in the life stories
(Bessel, p. 101). Herbert s argument is that the to the working German population, the war years
were seen mostly as a temporary disturbance separating the stable, normal years of the 1930s and
1950s. Although in retrospect the National Socialist State s provision of a quiet and secure life is
evaluated very positively in principle, the experiences during the war gave the lie to the pretenses
of Nazism: the self propelling dynamics of Nazi politics, which during the previous years always
had been left outside , now destroyed that private domain that had only been built up. The long
wartime and post war phase is portrayed...as a time of suffering in that the normality attained

  • 2. Youth Sports Injuries In today s society, youth sports programs are heavily involved in the everyday lives of different families and communities within different cities. These programs help provide our youth with positive leadership skills along with physical and mental development. While these youth sports programs should be fun and challenging, certain liability risks can become present and may result in lawsuits against the organization that hosts these types of programs. Youthsports programs are becoming more and more competitive and the risk of injuries is growing, which are raising concerns of liability issues and more lawsuits being filed. This paper will examine a case involving a youth sports injurydue to negligence and also help layout preventative guidelines to help my business avoid these same issues. While... Here is a brief summary of the case of Leahy vs. The School Board of Hernando County in 1984. Leahy a football player, who was a freshman at the time, did not receive proper football equipment due to the school did not have enough equipment for all participants of the football program. Without the required equipment, helmet and mouth guard, the player was still expected to partake in what was called non aggressive quickness drills against other players with the required equipment. There were other players that attempted the drill, but Leahy was the first player to attempt the drill without protective equipment. The case reports that Leahy claimed that there were no special instructions given to players that had equipment versus players that had no equipment. As Leahy attempted the drill, he suffered facial injuries and shattered his front teeth. The case reports that this was caused by the aggressiveness that had developed over time by all players involved and also the impact of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Song Analysis Of Kwadi Mudda Analysis This song gives a message to the Lambadas regarding their cultivation, poverty, and intimate relationship with sevalal and Laxmana. It also carries their social live and economic conditions. Though it is a small song it gives a good message and provokes thought. Initial words have been repeated in all the four lines to add a perfect melody to the song. In the third line of the song the word Kwadi Mudda reflects their food habit, which means lump of chilli powder. The song starts with the description of land cultivation and food that they get from the land then in the second line she made a comparison of Lambada with god Sevalal and laxmana. This comparison signifies their relationship and honest with the god. In the third line a lump of curry shows their poverty and food habits at last the song ends with a consoling mood. • 4. International Economics And The Field Of International... I would like to mention some courses that I have taken at Knox College that not only have encouraged me to take up the particular field of study as a major, but have also fortified me to volunteer and intern in the field of international development. These courses are: International Economics (Manisha Pradhananga, Professor), Business Society (John Spittell, Professor) Environmental Natural Resource Economics(Steve Cohn, Professor) and Environmental Ethics (Bill Young, Professor). These particular courses had a great impact on my decision to pursue a major in Economics and a double minor in International Relations Business. In International Economics, I had written a research paper on low income nations and their dependence on primary commodities for exports and its vulnerability to price shocks. I had carried out my research only keeping applied economics in perspective, therefore, I could not really understand as to why these low income countries, although having a wide variety of natural resources readily available for production and consumption, still struggling to alleviate themselves from poverty and poor health. The reality and the real life scenario of such situations was explained to me in the Environmental Economics class by Professor Steve Cohn. Toward the end of the term, I was assigned to write another research paper on greenhouse gas abatement options for third world nations. The ideal solution that came up while working on the project was developed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay on The Devil Wears Prada Film Case Study The Devil Wears Prada Film Case Study The Devil Wears Prada is a movie about a naГЇve, yet smart young woman named Andrea Sachs, and her journey to becoming a journalist. Andrea, also known as Andy, graduated from Northwestern University and interviewed for a job at Runway, a major fashion magazine in New York City. Being a simple young woman, Andy wasn t necessarily up to speed with the fashion industry, but ended up landing the job. Miranda Priestly, editor in chief at Runway hired Andy because she was different from any of her previous assistants. If Andy worked as an assistant to Miranda for at least a year, she was under the impression that she could easily be hired as a journalist in the future. The only problem was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even Emily, Miranda s other assistant began to get jealous of Andy s accomplishments. I think Miranda displays several different types of power throughout the movie. Individuals with legitimate power can influence people through requests or demands within their position. Miranda uses her power sources in this way through authority among her co workers. Even though reward power and coercive power are opposite, Miranda carried out both. It s obvious that she conducts coercive power by using threatening gestures and the fear of punishment to gain power among her work place. Miranda portrays reward power in a case like Andy s because being at Runway for a year will give her extensive job opportunities in the future. Miranda knows that Andy is a smart, hard worker, and she ll do whatever she is told in order to remain an assistant, and be rewarded with a good job in the future. Out of the three power bases I ve mentioned for Miranda, I think legitimate power is most important and prominently used in her character role. Legitimate power is similar to the learning style we ve been experiencing is class. Nigel had worked with Miranda for several years, and by now had built a strong relationship with her. She still bossed him around, just like she did everyone else, but he knew all of her tricks and was able to respond to her better than most of her colleagues. • 7. Operations Strategy at Galanz 1. What were the order winners/order qualifiers for Galanz in the microwave oven business during the early stage of its development? Quality is one of most important factors for order qualifiers because it provided reliability for customers to use them. However, the low price strategy was the order winner during the early stage of development of Galanz. To win orders, Galanz adopted a low price strategy. Low product prices which can be afforded by domestic market triggered more demand. With this increased demand, Galanz achieved greater economies of scale, which helped to lower costs and prices further. In addition, it also attracted foreign manufacturers to transfer their production facilities to Galanz. With the cheap price of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This contrasts with traditional Western operating hours of 40/week and allowed them to increase production scale and reduce production costs relative to many of their competitors. Finally they pursued vertical integration of the supply chain to reduce costs and improve quality, leading to 90% of Galanz s microwave parts being produced by Galanz itself. Each of these operational strategies support the competitive cost leadership strategy by exploiting economies of scale to generate large scale production and achieve low cost efficiency. 5.What are the differences between OEM/ODM versus OBM in terms of production, design, marketing, distribution, and customer service? Original equipment manufacturers produce a necessary component of another company s product, often relying on economies of scale to drive down production costs. OEM s typically don t provide customer support, instead passing on those responsibilities to their client whom bought the original product. Original design equipment manufacturers on the other hand, produce a product that is eventually rebranded once purchased by another company and can be thought of as outsourcing . The main difference between the two is that OEM s produce a product by their own specifications, while ODM s produce products by another company s specifications. ODM s also aren t in charge of final distribution, while OEM s are. Another difference is that unlike OEM s, ODM s also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I use to play this song on the piano during my childhood. It was very interesting to hear this music with the unique performance of this ensemble. They were imitating the music without a single world and it was awesome because with the variation, tone, accents and temp in their voices and with the gestures and mimics of their body they were bringing to me the feeling of something strange that would happen within every moment and then in the ending there is a culmination of this story with atonal harmony. Then a solo male artist probably a student started singing an acapella the famed song Lately by Stevie Wonder. It was a very spectacular performance without any microphone or special equipment for voice enhancing. I am pretty sure that he had a strong tenor voice with a very artistic behavior. I define an internship as a temporary position that emphasizes on on the job training, which can either be paid or unpaid. Students sign up for an internshipto gain experience for their future career. In his article, Unpaid Interns, Complicit Colleges , author Ross Perlin reveals that colleges have taken advantage of student through the school s administration of the internship programs. He states, Three quarters of the 10 million students enrolled in America s four year colleges and universities will work as interns at least once before graduating ... Between one third and half will get no compensation for their efforts (499 500). This evidence is relevant since it clearly supports the author s claim that colleges allow unpaid internship. This may not necessarily imply that the colleges are bad, but this clearly shows the high occurrence of such cases. It shows the high number of students who do not get paid while working as interns. The information was taken from established research institutes, therefore the evidence is credible. The College Employment Research Institute conducts an annual survey of national employers seeking their intentions for hiring new college graduates ( College Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University ), while the Intern Bridge is the nation s premier college recruiting, consulting and research firm (http://www.internbridge.com/). However, there was no information about the date when the statistic was taken or when the study was performed, and this made the evidence less sufficient. The evidence will be more sufficient if the date was mentioned and if it was current. He is also the most important character of the epic. The leader of the rebel angels in Heaven and the uncrowned monarch of Hell, Satan uses his words tactfully which helps know his personality. When we hear the word, Satan, we immediately think evil. Evilness is the trademark of Satan s personality but Satan actually has characteristics of a respectable person, which is quite evident through his speeches. Satan s character is multifaceted and can be interpreted in numerous lights. But first we must know who Satan was. Satan used to be one of the most important of God s angels. He rebelled against God. Fallen Cherub, to be weak is miserable,............ If not what resolution from despair. In his second speech Satan motivates other angels tat they cant offer to be weak when their aim should be evil. Their main aim now should be to reverse good to evil. Satan greatest quality as a leader is his readiness to act under all circumstances. Not only is he ready to face the terrors but also he motivates and directs all the angels to come out of their gloom and take action. Satan is trying to infuse fresh courage into them. • 11. Oppression Of Women The oppression of women has been happening since the beginning of time and religion is one huge factor that often hides in the dark. Christianity is the world s largest religion and its oppression of women will be brought to light. Christians use their beliefs and stance to oppress women socially, physically and mentally. Christianity, is the belief in Christ as the one and only God and his teachings transmitted through the holy bible. Christians often fall into two categories, Conservatives and Liberals. Conservatives are more likely to follow their religion more strictly and to be devoted to scripture. They often believe everything in the bible undoubtedly and for this reason, are more likely to oppress women, using scripture as an ok for this behavior. Liberals, on the other hand, are more open minded and mainly focus on the teaching of God s unconditional love for all. Liberals are more likely to be egalitarian while Conservatives are more likely to have prejudice towards people who have different beliefs or way of life. Christianity oppresses women in one huge way which is by emphasizing the belief that women are created for men and are meant to serve their husband. One verse that demonstrates this is, He [Solomon] had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 1 Kings 11:3 (Tarico, 2012) This verse shows that women were seen as objects and married against their will so that their husband would have a better ... This a quote by James Truslow Adams written in his book The Epic America describing what the American Dream was in 1931 when the book was written. In this quote he is emphasizing that the American Dreamdoesn t represent a quest for wealth but rather a vision for personal fulfillment. Over the course of the years the American Dream has changed in ways which we not only want to live a white picket fence life , but to be able to afford all the modern materials, cars, televisions, and college educations for ones children s . Just how much has the American Dream changed? Well let s go back to where it first originated. Dating back to the 1800 s people began finding gold in the state of California. This results in progressive destruction of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone with pocket formation, recession or both. Hence the goal of periodontal therapy is to eliminate these pathogenic organisms in the subgingival biofilm to achieve homeostasis. Non surgical periodontal therapy is the keystone and first mode of treatment recommended for most periodontal infections. However, this treatment protocol does have limitations. It can be detected in serum, whole saliva or gingival crevicular fluid. They represent as inflammatory mediators, collagen degradation and bone turnover related molecules. In inflamed periodontal tissues along with the breakdown of periodontal structures, it may also lead to resorption of alveolar bone. The factors involved in bone destruction are bacterial and host mediated. Examples Of Stereotypes In Urban Cities Stereotypes of urban cities commonly reflect the portrayal of minorities which they are seen as poor and criminals in comparison to the middle and upper Caucasian class. Such stereotypes are an effect of environmental racism. However, to divert from the spread of negative and racist stereotypes, the local government must reflect a better city. In this paper, I am going to explain the benefits of new regionalism in relation to urban cities and minorities. Having influence from Manuel Pastor and Myron Orfield, minorities need attention from their local government to better their lives. With new regionalism, the government responds to negativity and provides comfort and change for the locals of the city. This also promotes a positive image for the communities which makes it more appealing to outsiders of the cities. Communities rely on their government to act against local problems and provide safety. Latino Americans are affected by outward sprawl and the development of smart growth; yet, Latinos face economic and racial disparities in both rural and urban settings. Although Latinos have an affinity for new urbanism and the city, Latino families are moving outward into the suburbs which the population numbers are almost equally divided between city and suburbs (Pastor 82). The growing Latino population in the suburbs shows the sense of community and the strong ties to their agriculture and rural background. Nonetheless, the Latino urban communities are facing poverty and economy issues while Latino suburbans are making a life for themselves. How could you handle this as a child growing up with your parents struggling to take care of you or even getting taken away from your parents. The fugitive slave act came around in the 1850 s which any slave who ran away shall be captured and punished in jail and pay a fine slaves didn t make enough money to pay fines so they would sit in prison. • 22. Societal Brain Functions 1.A) Skills Training: The primary motor cortex is made up of interconnected neural assemblies (localized groups of neurons with similar inputs and outputs), that control movements in the fingers, hands, and legs. This coordinated activation can then be made complex and lets us do multijoint movements such as reaching. Before the study the theory was that during skills learning, the connectivity between these neural assemblies change. These changes were viewed as differences in cortical synapse numbers, synaptic strength, and the topography of stimulation evoked movement representation. They did a study with adult rats to measure these changes while they do an obstacle course. Some rats had to learn limb placement and posture control to finish a complex obstacle course, and the others walked an unobstructed course. The rats that were required to learn limb placement and posture control because of the complex obstacle course, showed increases in synapse number within the motor cortex compare to the rats doing the simple obstacle. The synaptic changes seen here are thought to show the changes in cortical circuitry that results in the reorganization of the neural assemblies encoding movement. Therefore proving the theory correct. All this data indicates that training on a skill produces alterations in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Current State Consists Of Fragmented Processes The current state consists of fragmented processes, which is the source of all productivity issues and inefficiency in the construction industry. The future state should be project focused rather than process focused . To achieve this desired future state it is essential that these processes are transformed to a more integrated approach. There should be better collaboration between the different stakeholders in the industry such as architects, builders, owners and regulatory agencies that issues permits. In the current, traditional system of projectdelivery, the relationship between these involved parties are adversarial. This can lead to the project being marred with schedule delays, budget overruns, poor quality, and disputes and litigations between the parties involved, as they play the blame game refusing to take liability or responsibility for the different processes. • 51. Student s Transition Into Elementary School Essay A student s transition into elementary school marks a unique gateway into formal schooling that is encumbered with new demands and susceptible to new influences. Within the past few decades, researchers have used students school transitions as a context to examine the influence of student teacher relationships (e.g., Birch Ladd, 1997; Ewing Taylor, 2009; Pianta Stuhlman, 2004). The quality of these dyadic relationships is an important platform through which teachers instruct students and students acquire multifaceted knowledge from their teachers (Pianta, 1999). Researchers suggest that certain aspects of student teacher relationships support and regulate students development, particularly during the early years (Pianta, 1999). Although these aspects include teachers instruction (e.g., explicit, systematic, etc.), they also include features of the classroom environment, such as teachers sensitivity and warmth, responsiveness, and verbal engagement (Downer, Sabol, Hamre, 2010). When combinations of high quality and supportive instruction are embedded within students learning, students are able to interact constructively with their teachers and peers (Gallagher, Kainz, Vernon Feagans, White, 2013). More importantly, aspects of instructional and classroom environment encourage students to capitalize on available learning opportunities and to adjust to the expectations of formal schooling (Howes, Phillipsen, Peisner Feinberg, 2000). Importance Of Countermeasures For Social Networking Countermeasures for Social Networking Because social networking has exploded in popularity so quickly, companies and individuals have not had much time to deal with the problems the technology has brought to bear. Surveys taken in recent years have found that many companies either do not have a policy in place regarding social networking or are unaware of the risks. Recently, however, people are slowly starting to become aware of how big the danger is and that they need to take steps to protect themselves. Company policies should touch on appropriate usage of social media and networking sites at work as well as the kind of conduct and language an employee is allowed to use on the sites. Currently about 40 percent of companies have implemented a social networking policy; the rest have either suggested doing so or are not doing anything. Many individuals and companies have been burned or heard about someone else getting burned and have decided to do something about the issue. Social networking can be used relatively safely and securely as long as it is used carefully. Exercising some basic safety measures can substantially reduce the risk of using these services. Herbert s recurring theme is that Quiet , normal times, then, clearly leave behind few experiences that are imprinted on the memory and recalled in the narratives; disturbed , bad times are filled with unique and extraordinary experiences, and come up at corresponding length in the life stories (Bessel, p. 101).
