Base 10
There are a variation of different ways numeric and alphanumeric data can be represented within a
computer system.
Base 10 (Decimal)
As humans from an early age we learn to count using the base 10 system, this is a system to tell us
how many times we have counted to 10 with the addition of any extra, for example the number 17
the 1 on the left shows us we have counter to 10 once and the 7 shows we have an additional 7,
the number 52 shows us we have counted to the number 10 five times and an additional 2. As
humans we find this base 10 system easier due to the simplicity of it, and our relation to the
number 10, as we have 10 fingers which can be used as physical representations of the number.
Computer systems can t use this method due to it only being able to recognized and deal with 2
states, on of off (1 and 0).
Base 2 (Binary)
Due to the computer not being able to handle base 10 and only being able to recognized 2 states,
on or off, 1 or 0. It uses a method called base 2. This base 2 method is called binary which uses the
numbers 1 and 0 to calculate. An example of this base 2 system would be the number two which
we know to be 2 which is a base 10 number, in base 2 the number 2 would be 10. Another example
of this is the number 110111 in base 2 is the same as the number 55 in base ten.

between the methods of binary, hexadecimal and decimal systems is very simple, taking the hex

so 8 in binary is 1000, and the F in binary is 1111 together these 2 four bit sections make one 8 bit

3.2 CATALYST
The rate of chemical reaction increases with the presence of a substance called as catalyst.
3.3 TYPICAL MECHANISM
In catalyst regenerating process, it generally reacts with one or more than one reactants to form
intermediate product which then gives the final reaction product.
X + C в†’ XC (1)
Y + XC в†’ XYC (2)
XYC в†’ CZ (3)
CZ в†’ C + Z (4) This represents a typical reaction scheme, where C Catalyst X and Y Reactants Z
Product of the reaction of X and Y
In reaction 1 the catalyst is consumed even though in reaction 4 it is subsequently produced, so it
does not occur in the overall reaction equation:
X + Y в†’ Z
3.4 MATERIALS
As catalysis the chemical nature of catalysts is also diverse. For the many reactions involving water,
including hydrolysis and its reverse, the most widely used catalysts is proton acids. Multifunctional
solids often are catalytically active.
e.g. alumina, zeolites, graphitic carbon, nanoparticles, nanodots, higher order oxides, and facets of
bulk materials.
To catalyze redoxreactions like oxidation and hydrogenation, transition metals are often used. For
example nickel such as Raney nickel for hydrogenation, and vanadium (V) oxide for oxidation of
sulfur dioxide into sulfur trioxide by the so called contact process. Palladium, platinum, gold,
ruthenium, rhodium, or iridium is

Juxtaposition Between Good And Evil In The Characters Of...
The chronicles of Beowulf are episodic and carries many conundrums. Specifically, there lies an
enormous contrast between good and evil. The protagonist, Beowulf, is chivalrous, mighty, and
loyal. By the same token, Beowulf s extraordinary showing of patriotism enables him to be the
ultimate keeper of justice. On the other hand, Grendel upholds evil that is derived from pure
envious. It is important to note, that Grendel expresses a high level of combat experiences, just as
Beowulf, however, the wicked man uses his unwavering incitement for iniquitous ways. All things
considered, the juxtaposition between the great Beowulf, and the relentless Grendel, has many
significant distinctions between both characters, including, the contrast between honorable and
villainous. Although, both individuals possess superhuman characteristics, the differences in
Beowulf s confidence, ethics, and bravery will out match Grendel s jealous, irrational, and
forsaken soul; As a matter of fact, the worthy warrior will be crowned victor because God does not
let the nefarious waste away the righteous.
Above all, Beowulf s rather extraordinary confidence, encourages the demise of any opposition.
The noble warrior boasts of his skill often in Beowulf. In particular, Seamus Heaney affirms
Beowulf s public gloat:
I had a fixed purpose when I put out to sea.
As I sat in the boat with my band of men,
I meant to perform to the uttermost what your people wanted or perish in the attempt, in the

The Law And Saudi Arabia Employment Law
Employees continue to be a driving force of any nation and have the capability of crystallizing
success or hastening the demise of organizations given the laws surrounding their engagement
(Goldman, Corrada Goldman, 2011). More so, the law influences employee commitment or
withdrawal from any organization in addition to affecting the areas of managerial action. The law,
therefore, gives employers and employees wide latitude to act potentially in their best interest. In
both the United Statesand Saudi Arabia, there are vital laws that guide employment. Such laws
encompass the significant remedies that focus on addressing grievances and cases of discrimination
that may occur in workplace environments. The foundation of such systems is the constitution that
provides the laws and regulations (Goldman, Corrada Goldman, 2011). The research, therefore,
focuses on comparing the United States employment law and Saudi Arabia employment law.
Employment in the US Employment is the United States remains a vital factor driving the economy
of the nation. Every industry depends on employment to progress and meets set objectives,
including the transportation, wholesale and retail, information, government, manufacturing,
healthcare, and entertainment and construction sector (Goldman, Corrada Goldman, 2011).
Furthermore, the employment sector has a workforce from different backgrounds with various
skills, knowledge and expertise. Every industry can absorb the employees depending on

Executive Of Air France And Klm
Strategies and Forces
According to the KLM s official website (2015) says that the Air France and KLM group became
to the largest airline group in Europe Since they merged in May 2004. And their tenet is one group,
two airlines, three businesses. Each member has own trade brand name and individual identity and
the three core businesses are: Cargo and Engineering Maintenance, Passenger Business. In 2014, the
chairman of Air France and KLM group Alexandre de Juniac has announced a branding new and
ambitious strategic plan named Perform 2020 (report, 2014). Juniac (2014) has pointed out three
major components of the new strategy. Initially, he group wants to improve the operational
performance and reduce the costs in order to gain more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, the threat of substitutes and rivalry among the existing competitors would be the major
forces that shaped the part of competitiveness of Perform 2020 Plan. First of all, as Porter (2008)
defined that substitute performs the same or similar function as an industry s product or service by
a different means. For instance, one of the substitutes for the European airline industry would be
the Eurostar Railway. For example, a passenger who wants to travel to Paris by 23rd November
2015 the cheapest ticket he/she could purchase will be from the Eurostar (standard class) and it
only costs 146 pounds from start. And the starting price for Air France (economy class) will be
261 pounds. Meanwhile, KLM (economy class) starts from 250 pounds. On the other hand, the
timing for airlines does not have many advantages as well. Eurostar needs about 2 hours and16
minutes, Air France costs almost 1hour and 25 minutes and KLM needs about the same duration
with Air France as if it is directly flight to Paris and if there is a flight transferring the duration
could be 3 hours and 50 minutes mostly as their official websites showing. However, Porter (2008)
discussed that the substitutes are easy to overlook because they may appear to be different

Class Struggle
Introduction Class struggle is the active expression of a theoretical class conflict looked at from
any kind of socialist perspective. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of
communism, wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle .
Marx s notion of class has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper,
middle and lower classes (which are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth).
Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx describes an economic class. Membership in a class is
defined by one s relationship to the means of production, i.e., one s position in the social structure
that characterizes capitalism. Marx talks mainly about two classes that... Show more content on

the floods! This dimension of Bangladesh s reality is much more presentable and in tune with
what the viewer wants to see. In addition, floods or monsoons are a lot easier to explain away as
inevitable than are riots or strikes. For the bourgeoisie, what would be the point in shaking the
dominant image of a country made of too much water and too many poor people ? However, it
is not possible to completely black out the existence of class struggle and some information gets
through. The following is a resume of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994:
On December 4th 1994 thousands of poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary
militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to
take control of the headquarters and training centre in the capital, Dacca. After 4 days, by which
time the mutiny had spread to other provinces, repression began in earnest. The army s special
forces attacked the occupies barracks, using very significant measures: artillery guns, rockets,
helicopters, gas, armored cars... with an official toll of 4 deaths and 50 wounded. The first
ideological image is therefore shattered: there are more than just disarmed, ragged, soaking wet
beggars in Bangladesh! A different technique is now needed to explain events and, this time, the
media choose to fall back on the traditional explanation of struggle between official and opposition
parties. Indeed, the mutiny in December 1994 in

What Is My Most Important Summer Essay
My Most Important Summer Some people like to stay in control of their life and avoid any
amount of extraordinary risk to protect their self disclosure. Other people don t shy away from
challenges as they are confident that certain obstacles are nothing more than just another thing
standing in their way from living life to the fullest extent. Through personal experience, I ve
realized that personal comfort is nothing more than a variety of fears that limit me from
challenging myself. One balmy summer morning my friends convinced me to come swim in
Grapevine Lake, which would be very enticing if I was a strong swimmer or had any swimming
experience whatsoever. I was a fairly reserved person, and most of the time the idea of risk or
failure decided whether or not I would partake in certain activities. In contrast, my two friends,
Austin and Nick, always were willing to take risks and defy their natural comfort, if they even had
any. I accepted their request, although there was doubt in the back of my mind. I... Show more

Chesapeake Colonies Vs New England Colonies
As stories of the New World drifted back to the old, a new start appealed to the residents of a
troubled, turbulent England. Poverty had made it difficult for many to provide for their families,
forcing them to seek their livelihood elsewhere. Displaced peasants traveled to the already
overpopulated major cities such as London, hoping to scrape by. Around the same time, King Henry
VIII severed ties with the Catholic Church, establishing the Church of England, a Catholic sect with
himself at the head. This led to confusion and dissent within England, ending in the eventual rise
of the Protestant William and Mary until the rise of Elizabeth I, when she severed ties with
Rome anew. This religious confusion led to an unstable religious climate in England, resulting in
persecution of many different religions. Social, economic and religious issues led many to look
to the Americas as an opportunity to start fresh, economically and religiously. Although the New
England and the Chesapeake regions both started as small colonies, simply hoping to get by in
the New World, by the 18th century they developed into drastically different cultures. The New
England region consisted of many Puritans who fled England seeking religious freedom, while
the Chesapeake region consisted of young Englishmen seeking wealth. Despite their similar hope
for a better life in the New World, as a result of differences in topography, economy, religious
background and overall societal views, the two colonies had developed into two distinct societies
by the 1700s.
Before either the New England or Chesapeake colonies were founded, the differences in the
intentions of its founders foreshadowed the two distinct societies the colonies would become.
Jamestown, the first of the Chesapeake colonies, was founded on the premise of accumulating
wealth. Settlers traveled to the New World in hopes of economic opportunity for themselves and
their investors, spending their early days searching for gold. The gentlemen not only faced
disappointment as they realized their search for riches was a waste, but starvation as they had not
allocated their resources and time to establish their settlement and plant food. They were forced to
face a new approach, focusing on

Essay on Analysis of The Wrong Trousers
Analysis of The Wrong Trousers
The Wrong Trousers is a Clay Animation Production (where all characters are made out of clay).
Created by Nick Park (a famous Animator) in 1993, The Wrong Trousers stars Wallace and Gromit
in their second animated adventure (they were first introduced to British Viewers in 1990 in
another Nick Park production A Grand Day Out .) In this particular adventure we see how bad
things can get when technology gets into the wrong hands...
The Wrong Trouserswas created by a clever technique called Clay Animation (Claymation). This
technique requires the use of Plasticine to create models for the entire animation cast, this being
things such as the Characters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also I think that comedy can be found due to the naГЇvetГ© of Wallace, for example his shock
when he realises that his Penguin lodger is actually the Chicken that has been robbing local banks,
his disguise? A red rubber glove. In my opinion these mixtures of comedy are funny without being
offensive to any cultural or ethnical groups. This means that both adults and children can enjoy The
Wrong Trousers as they can all take in something different from the film.
It is said that mans best friend is his Dog, and that leads me to a greatly influential character in the
Wallace and Gromitseries, this of course being Gromit, the dog. I believe that his personification
has been cleverly done as it is not completely conspicuous, by this I mean that whilst Gromit is
granted Human qualities (such as the ability to read), his lack of a voice means that we do not
recognise him as a human, therefore leaving him with his canine status. Therefore, essentially
Gromit is a human yet isn t, he drinks tea, reads newspapers and even has his own dog specific
library of books but then he doesn t possess a voice. I think that

A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis Essay
On Saturday, May 20th, I attended a production of Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire.
This production, put on by the Scottish Ballet at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, offered a simmering
story of sexuality and betrayal. Prior to my viewing of the performance, I sat in on the pre lecture
where I was enlightened on the background of the story and choreographer. A Streetcar Named
Desireis one of the few works to be performed as a play, a movie, and a dance production. The
choreographer of this production, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, was discussed as being an
accomplished artist whose love of jazz and hip hop influenced her creative decisions. The lecturer
also touched upon how Williams life affected the play.
The character Stanley was said to be modelled on his own father. The story of Streetcar is also
very much affected by the time in which it is set. Because the story takes place two years
following the end of World War II, there is a sense of newfound modernity and resistance to the old
ways. Immediately following the pre lecture, I settled into my seat and noticed how anticipatory the
audience seemed. All guests were obviously excited to attend and experience the production. The
lights dimmed and we were brought into the stately southern home where Blanche Dubois story
begins. She is garbed in all white and warm, bright lights that gave us a sense of her innocence. We
witness her romance and marriage to Alan and his affair with a man who he met at his wedding.

Maurice Wilkins Examples
Francis Crick, Rosalind Franklin, James Watson, and Maurice Wilkins were all examples of
scientists that came together to help form the detailed understanding of the structure of DNA that
human civilization has today. The question that was solved by their work was, how do living
organisms pass on traits to their offspring? The discovery was like a puzzle that was put together
over time. Different scientists over the ages added a piece here and there. An example is Gregor
Mendel. He worked with plants and observed the traits that were passed down from the parents to
the offspring. By the 1950s, biologists found that chromosomes contain proteins along with DNA.
This made scientists wonder how DNA could hold all the information needed to create

The Impact Of Technology On The Future
The evidence that Martin Ford provides for his thesis is all related to different industries, and how
they will turn out to be in the future. First, he discusses information technology, in which he tells
the audience about Moore s Law (p. 58). He uses Moore s Law to describe the effect that
technology will have in the future on IT. Then, he goes on to discuss the risk that white collar jobs
face from automation. One aspect of his evidenceis Quill , which is a technology that is used by
media outlets to produce articles about various subjects including, sports, business and politics (pp.
72 73). This helps him explain the idea of advanced technology being able to replace jobs that
require some amount of human intelligence. The next main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They allow the reader to be able to relate and connect to the content, which in return allows the
reader to understand how technology and automation will take over jobs. In addition, the graphs
and charts that are provided allow the reader to better understand the concepts through a visual aid.
The weakness in the evidence that the author provides is related to the fact that a lot of the
evidence is anecdotal and not factual. A book on technology should have many statistics and facts,
as it will strengthen the thesis. This is true, as the technology industry is all about the numbers and
facts. In addition, anecdotal evidence is a good buffer or introduction for people who don t know
about technology, as it allows for them to connect to the topic. However, more concrete statistics
should have been provided to make the thesis even stronger. All in all, the author did a good job
supporting his thesis. The anecdotal evidence was a little too much, however the facts, statistics,
graphs and charts helped balance out the strength of the thesis. One error that I found within the
book was the lack of primary sources used by the author. Even though it would be hard for the
author to do primary research, some of the statistics that were not showing progress from many
years ago, could have been researched through interviews, case studies, or other primary research
methods. This would have allowed the reader to see that the author was determined to prove his
point, so much so,

Humic Functional Groups
Humic substances are commonly described as heterogeneous compounds contain many functional
groups and they can be viewed as polyfunctional ligands. Oxygen containing functional groups are
the most abundant and are ultimately the most important for binding metal ions (Logan et al.,
1997). The presences of functional groupin organic compounds that have unshared pairs of
electrons, and that can form coordinate linkages with metal ions (Fig.3) are in the order of
decreasing affinity of organic groupings for metal ions as follows:

The capability of metal complexes to supply plant available micronutrients under different soil
types are related to stability and solubility of metal HS complexes. So that, the increases in plant

2.3.2. Interaction of metal ions with humic acids
The formation of covalent link between metal ions and the humic acid, formation of H bonding, as
well as, electrostatic interface can promote the interaction between HA and metal ions. In the
micellar aggregates, the hydrophilic part of the molecule including carboxyl groups and phenolic
hydroxyl groups apprehends the aromatic structure. Complexation with the hydrophilic part of HA
acid have been formed as a consequence of the interaction with metal ions, also increasing the ratio
of aromatic structure (Dudare and Klavins, 2012). HS complexing capacity varies as a function of
pH. Two binding patterns are possibly present: at acid neutral pH (carboxylates) and at alkaline pH
(carboxylate and phenolic groups). The binding patterns, binding strength, stability and solubility
depend on the complexed metal. Complex solubility depends on the concentration of free ionized
functional groups and the molecular weight (Garcia Mina, 2006).
Erdogan et al. (2007) manifested that the differences in sorption ability of particular metal

The Importance Of Biodiversity
The 3.7 billion years of the earth s biological history can be summarized as follows: Organisms
convert energy into food, chemical elements perform their cycles, and species perform different
biological functions (niches) evolving in response to changes according to conditions
environmental impacts. This implies that today, every specieson the planet has gone through an
evolutionary process and that each individual performs their role in the ecosystem. Like the many
species in the world, we human beings (thanks to certain characteristics that allow us to adapt and
modify the environment) have been able to increase our chances of survival on earth and this has
led us to a gigantic population and economic growth, which we call Development. However, such a
development makes the degradation of natural resources increasingly fast, making it imperative and
necessary to establish conservation oriented guidelines, since biodiversityis of the utmost
importance for the functioning of the ecosystem.
BIODIVERSITY
Biodiversity or biological diversity is a term used very well to describe the richness and variety
of all living things in the world; from plants and animals to microorganisms and beings a
thousand times more complex. Thus, on biological diversity we can say that it is present in the
most varied places, from the cold glaciers of the Arctic to the volcanic regions of Chile. In Brazil,
this fact is not different, and this is the country that holds about 20% of the world s

The Interlopers Short Story
The Compare and Contrast of The Story of an Hour And The Interlopers In the two stories The
Interlopers and The Story of an Hour, there are many similarities and many differences. With
different authors, the plots hold very different themes, climax, and rising actions. Though the
two stories are very different, there are some similarities when you look close enough. The Story
of an Hour revolves around a woman named Louise Mallard who has heart trouble. When her
sister Josephine breaks the news to her that her husband was a part of a lethal train accident,
Louise does not take the news well and locks herself in her room. While in solitude, she looks
out an open window. She sees trees, smells approaching rain, and hears a peddler yelling out
what he s selling. She realizes with the death of her husband brought her a freedom. She could
now live for herself. She opens the door and is met with her sister who helps her walk down the
stairs. Once they almost make it down however, the door swings open and in walks her husband
who was presumed to have died. Louise then has a fatal heart attack right then and there in
surprise and joy at seeing her husband once again. In The Interlopers, its speaks of a generational
loathing between two families. It began when Ulrich von Gradwitz, the local nobleman, was
patrolling a narrow stretch of scrubby woodland that borders his much larger and more valuable

I like to swim because I ignore what everyone else is doing and focus on myself. The times of
other swimmers and their form compared to mine is not important because what matters to me
is that I challenge myself and improve. Because of this, I set a goal for myself, and then take
baby steps to reach that goal. An example of this is when I was training to become a certified
scuba diver. At first, I was not the best at swimming because I never really learned how to do it
properly. I took baby steps to achieving my goal of certification, and it started with learning
proper form for the flutter kick. I worked with my instructor and had it done within a day. Then, I
moved on to doing the flutter kick with flippers. I did that, and then moved on to doing that with
the scuba gear on. This took about two days to get down, but I was able to get certified after I
had finished that. This is just an example, and a goal that I am working towards right now in my
life is improving the balance of strength in my muscles. The right side of my body is stronger
than my left side so I am going swimming at the local YMCA in order to help make my body
more balanced. This goal arose from me wanting to challenge myself because when I am

Astral Projection Essay
Insidous. Who never watch that movie? If you watch it carefully, you might recognise that the
story focuses on one main plot, which is the idea of people to travel through the spirit realm and
see horrible yet amazing things such as the creatures and the environment there. But, how do we
know that the idea to travel through the spirit realm is true and realistic? It was such a heated
debate between paranormals when this idea came out. The truth? You can still reach the spirit
world. In addition, you probably need to do some hard practices to learn to enter the spirit realm,
but that doesn t make it impossible. The ritual to do that have been commonly called Astral

the victims were the priests, who performed the exorcism. By doing this ritual, other people are

Female Sterilization Essay
Sterilization was a racialized procedure because the procedure targeted minorities, more
specifically women of color. Female sterilization is an irreversible and controversial form of
fertility control that most often involves the surgical cutting or tubal ligation of a woman s
fallopian tubes (Ruiz Korrol, 2006). Sterilizationwas important for the eugenicsmovement and
sterilization of females helped eugenics move forward. Eugenics was intended to stop individuals
deemed unfit from reproducing in hopes of keeping the human population pure. Eugenics, like birth
control was a program for making working class families healthy, for improving the condition of
the country and it stood in contrast to the racialism of tropical medicine (Briggs,... Show more

A study done by Novak et al. displayed that a disproportionate number of Latinos were sterilized
between the years 1920 to 1945. The rates of sterilization after 1945 did not decrease but remained
just as high. The primary victims of sterilization were women of color and sterilization procedures
took place in abundance in the United States as well as Puerto Rico. In this essay, I will examine
women of colors experiences of forced sterilization in the U.S and Puerto and see how the
experiences compare.
In Puerto Rico: A People Challenging Colonialism, it was said that more than 35 percent of
Puerto Rican women of child bearing age had been sterilized. This statistic reporting the highest
rate of female sterilization in the world at that time. Between 1972 and 1973, sterilizations had
increased by 180% in hospitals in predominantly Puerto Rican neighborhoods. Population growth
in Puerto Rico was a concern for U.S government since 1930 and in 1937 the Puerto Rico
Legislature passed a bill that legalized sterilization. Until the mid 1960 s, sterilization was seen as
the only way to limit Puerto Rican family size. Given the islands overpopulation problem, it
seemed as if sterilization was the only option for Puerto

Essay on Surrogate Motherhood
Surrogate Motherhood is something that not many people actually support, even though it is one
of the many reproductive techniques that have enabled infertile couples to have children (qtd. in
Freedman). There are two types of surrogacy, traditional and gestational. The traditional type of
surrogacy involves the surrogate mother being (AI) artificially inseminated with the sperm of the
intended father or sperm from a donor when the sperm count is low. In either case the surrogate s
own egg will be used. Genetically the surrogate becomes the mother of the resulting child (Storey).

most infertility clinics require a contract. Legal counsel is recommended in order that all involved,

Some states require a contract among all parties to the surrogacy birthing arrangement, and there are

Erice Breaks Themes
Growing up means more responsibility and more expectations from people around you.
Nowadays the expectations we have to one another keeps getting higher. This means that a larger
group of people will be having a harder time living up to these expectations. For instance, more
children at school will be searching for a way to live up to the expectations. To do this they will
have to face challenges that might be too hard, for someone with lack of self confidence and
responsibilitythis will be a challenge with many failures.
In the short story, Ernie Breaks written by Genevieve Scott the main theme is also about expectation
and responsibility towards a child. We follow a girl that is troubling with responsibility and
cannot carry her expectations. The main character and narrator is the girl called Cara and is at age
ten, while the story takes place. Cara just passed fourth grade and the mother wants her and the

Film Analysis of The Gods Must Be Crazy
Analysis of The Gods Must Be Crazy (Order # A2059556) In 1980 a low budget South African
film was released which over the years has not only spawned a number of sequels, but took a
rather humorous look at the cultural differences between so called primitive cultures and the
modern world. The film was called The Gods Must Be Crazy, was written and directed by South
African filmmaker Jamie Uys, and called by the New York Magazine pure play, an amiable
shaggy dog story in which the awesome wilderness serves as an adaptable prop. (Denby, 47) It
told the story of a Ju/hoansi bushman who journeyed to the end of the Earth to discard a Coke
bottle; and along the way encountered the modern world for the very first time. Modern society
was presented through the eyes of a person who had never encountered it before, and while the
interaction was often portrayed as hilarious, it also provided a interesting view of the modern
world from a most unlikely source. Uys film captures the interaction between members of two
very different societies with very different sets of values. It begins when a coke bottle is thrown
out of the window of a passing airplane and lands in the village of a group of primitive Kalahari
Bushmen. Because they had never had contact with the outside world, they had no knowledge of
what the bottle was, and believed that it was a gift from their gods. However, as they found a
number of uses for this item, the Bushmen began to fight over possession the

Finally, the coda from measures 140 is rhythmically very similar to the codetta (measures 41 48)
but, Beethoven didn t want to end that way so then he adds another 4 measures of extension from
measures 149 152 to officially declare that piece finally ending in perfect authentic cadence. I have
come to realize that even though this movement is a sonata formconsisting of three main sections,
it still feels as though it has 2 main sections (binary structure). The cadential structure of the 1st

2 No.1 in f minor is considered as one of Beethoven s earliest work dedicated to Haydn. The use of
extreme dynamics such as fortissimo from measures 144 147 is one of Beethoven s method to
create a sense of drive throughout the movement. In my opinion the development is the most
dramatic section leading to the recapitulation (m.101) in forte rather than in piano dynamic marking
which is from measure 1 2 at beginning of the piece. The short motive in the transition section (m.

that Beethoven was thinking of Haydn while composing and decided to dedicate the small ideas in

Reconstruction During The Civil War Essay
Reconstruction
The United States went through many changes after the Civil War and during the Reconstruction
period of 1866 1877. Before Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on December, 1863, by John
Wilkes, Lincoln announced the first Reconstruction plan a year before the Civil War had ended
and Lincoln offered general amnesty to white southerners who would pledge an oath of loyalty to
the government and accept the abolition of slavery. During the summer of 1865, Johnson not long
after he took office had revealed his plan for Reconstruction or as he preferred to call it
Restoration, which reflected both his staunch Unionism and his firm belief in states rights. He
offered some form of amnesty to Southerners who would take the oath of allegiance.
In 1865 and 1866, under the administration of President Andrew Johnson new southern state
legislatures passed restrictive black codes to control the labor and behavior of former slaves and
other African Americans. North outraged over these codes eroded support which led to the triumph
of the more radical wing of the Republican Party and the approach known as Presidential
Reconstruction. During Radical Reconstruction which began in 1866, and for the first time in
American history, blacks gained a voice in government and they won elections to southern state
legislatures and even to the U.S. Congress. In less than a decade, however, reactionary forces
including the Ku Klux Klan would reverse the changes wrought by Radical

The Four Stages Of Cognitive Development
Jean Piaget was the first psychologist to design a comprehensive model for the study cognitive
development. This model explained how a child s cognitive skills develop over their lifetime,
which will eventually result in more of an adult way of thinking; or a more elaborate and logical
way of thinking. Unlike other psychologists who were studying cognition, Piaget believed that
children were not tiny adults , who had to eventually access a more complex way of thinking over
time. Instead, he believed that a child s cognition progresses in stages through the process of
reorganizing their way of thinking. The four stages of cognitive development, which I will discuss
later, stemmed from a child s need to equal their two process of thinking.
These two processes of thinking are called assimilation and accommodation. Assimilation is defined
as the ability to take in new information or experiences and connecting them with previous
knowledge. Accommodation is defined as gaining new information or experiences that cause a
child to modify their existing schemas, or previous idea. However, in accommodation, rather than
the child completely making new information; they change the previous schema to make it fit, or
accommodate, the new information. By understanding these two processes of thinking, and how
they developed over time, Piaget created his four stage theory of cognition development.
Through the understanding of Piaget s four stages of cognition development, we can contrast

Water stands as a symbol representing a source of cleansing, purity, and life. Water usually
associates itself with the image of restoration. This means that water can help restore the

how the relationship between Annie and her mother grows and changes throughout the novel. The
rainstorm, ocean saltwater, and bath water show some examples of the changes Annie and her

Annie depends on her mother to show her how to live life. An example of Annie s dependency
on her mother shows when she states the only way I could reach the water was to climb and get
on my mother s back (42). Annie cannot swim, but shows that she has a strong feeling of trusts
towards her mom because she ultimately sets her own life into her hands. Annie swam with her
mom because it helped strengthen her kidneys, but it also brought Annie and her mother closer
together. For example, Annie says I could not wipe that feeling out of my mind, the feeling that
I had when I couldn t find her (45). Annie grows up, and the older she gets, the more the bond
between her and her mom grow apart. Annie will never forget that day in the ocean when she
could not find her mother. That sense of loneliness has become the way Annie now feels when
around her mother. Annie figures out that she can do things independently now and does not
need her mother s help. Annie states that I could not bear to have everyone else see how in
disfavor I was towards my mother (46). The feeling Annie has now with her mother refers back to
the feeling she had back in the ocean. She feels as if her relationship has grown deeper and darker,
and that it will keep spreading apart with no end in sight, just like the

While looking at the results, I noticed that the cold temperature solution glowed for the longest
time with an average of 14.5 minutes. The room temperature solution was next with an average
of 13.5 minutes. Finally, the warm temperature glowed for the shortest amount of time with an
average of 9.5 minutes. I noticed that the solubility affected the glow rate. The warm water was
able to quickly dissolve the copper sulfate, Luminol, and Perborate mixture. However, the cold
water took the longest because it was hard for it to dissolve. In order to keep the dissolving
process going, every so often, I mixed it. My results indicate that if you want to locate the

trials. Therefore, it would be hard to compare and call it significant or not significant. My

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Opinion Mining
The work of a complete review or opinion mining application might involve attacking each of
the following problems. If the application is integrated into a general purpose search engine, then
one would need to determine whether the user is in fact looking for subjective material. This
may or may not be a difficult problem in and of it: perhaps queries of this type will tend to
contain indicator terms like review , reviews , or opinions , or perhaps the application would
provide a checkbox to the user so that he or she could indicate directly that reviews are what are

being made.
Many name brand companies have fallen under certain accusations of taking part in manufacturing
their own products in sweatshops. These sweatshops are where workers of the company are
employed in horrible and unsafe working conditions as well as working long hours at low wages.
Unfortunately, one of the most popular companies in America is now being kept under surveillance
for their unfair labor practices. This company that is well known has now damaged its reputation,
specifically through their company s image and their sales. The famous Nike brand has now fallen
through the cracks.
Sources state ex employees and present day employees have filed reports of Nike s harsh and
unjust working conditions as far back as the 1990 s. Although Nike denied it at times, there was
solid proof that children under the age of 16 were also working in these conditions, as most adults
would. These sweatshops

A Brief Note On Housing Association And The Center Of Dundee
HILLCREAST
Hillcrest Housing Association had developed to 600 700 staff, managing over 6000 properties.
Their headquarters was situated in a 1970 s building manufactured for a jute in the center of
Dundee. Hillcrest required more space for their staff, the new building serves solely as company
offices, with the Dundee housing office where tenants would come to pay rent or discuss tenancies
remaining at Camperdown Street at the docks in the city center. ВЈ5.3m budget.
Heating/cooling
Air is brought into the building through 5 trunk molded conduits climbing out of the grass to the
once again of the building. Low controlled fans support the methodology. The air is drawn into a

In two rooms in the building it demonstrated unreasonable to depend on this framework alone to
give cool air and individual ventilating units were introduced the IT room where significant high
temperature is created by the server and the meeting room where it was figured that a speedier
cooling time was needed than could be effected by the fan aided characteristic ventilation. Also, heat
is provided by the biomass boiler feeding a high temperature collector which then bolsters heated
water to radiators all through the building, each one fitted with a thermostatic valve. Hot water to
tea points, kitchen, gym shower room and toilets is given by a solar heated evacuated tubes
situated on the top of the boiler room.
Another important thing is that every window on the North and south exteriors is fitted with
physically worked roller blinds. The glazed West gable is fitted with mechanically worked blinds
activated by a light meter. Lamp units all through the building are low vitality, with daylight
control and occupancy detection to minimize energy consumption. Showers, taps and WC s are
designed for low water consumption. Rain water is gathered from the top and recycled for use in
flushing the toilets. A SUDS is installed externally. The building envelope surpasses great practice
measures for air tightness with a measured air permeability of 3.3m3/ hr/m2.

The Freedom Of Speech Vs Free Speech
Free speech with restrictions As a young child, we have all learned about our God given rights. We
were taught to memorize our amendments and to know the meaning behind them. It is something
we have been taught to not let anyone get in the way of. But lately in the news and media there
have been some instances that have put all that in jeopardy for us Americans. There are people
making bad decisions when showing others their opinions on campuses. In the article Hate speechvs
Free speech:Where is the Line on College Campuses, written by Rosanna Xia it discusses the
controversy of speakers coming to campuses and creating problems. The article Where is the
Line on College Campuses, brings up the issue of how free speech is now becoming a problem
for both students and staff on college campuses. There have been many riots and violent
behaviors following certain speakers who have come to some colleges. This was all due to the
fact that some of the subjects can really fire people up, and make them have a negative outlook
on what is being said. These colleges are now unsure of how to proceed with allowing the freedom
of speechto be represented on campus, simply for safety reasons. They don t want to take or limit
the students and staffs first amendment but these speakers are really causing an issue for them.
Figuring out different ways to try and solve the problem without creating another one, is definitely
a struggle. One idea that they had was to hold Q A s, because they

Lean Production Of Lean Manufacturing
2.3.1) Lean Manufacturing Review Lean originally comes from the thought of scarce resources.
The Japanese automotive manufacturer called Toyota was the one who introduced this method with
innovations such as JIT, and so forth [14; 44; 28]. Lean operations were used as a different method
for capital intensive mass manufacture in order to help firm use resources more effectively and
efficiently. As a result, the firm will be able to reduce muda activity and non value adding tasks.
The procedure of lean implementation and research had been widely used by many organizations
across the world. Conglomerates found out that the manufacturing process need not only
improvement in performance, but also the development must be extended and... Show more content

The main role of lean supply is to strengthen the relationship and collaboration between suppliers
customers. According to Ellram [10], the author has defined the concept of lean as the continuous
bond between the organizations which concerns to the contract and commitment in the long term
relationship and a shared advantages and risks. Additionally, there are also some other features after
the relationship and commitment between suppliers until customers. Those features are the trade of
concepts (communication), data, and advantages such as merge inR D, long term relationship, and
so forth [38; 40; 9]. The concept of lean supply also is being as the start of the enhancement in
system in terms of taking the proactive role in improving the usual technique for similar advantages
throughout the supply chain. As from the authors, the suppliers will work on working with
manufacturer and ongoing collaborate until customers in both direct and indirect ways [13].
Occasionally, the managers will face with the situation where wastes cannot be found and
discovered all. The various tools are then introduced for finding those wastes throughout the area
by observing in products and circumstance s information. Six of the noticeable tools are stated.
The first tool is called Process activity mapping . The very noticeable role of this tool is the

A Technical Analysis of Ergonomics and Human Factors in Modern Flight Deck Design
I. Introduction Since the dawn of the aviation era, cockpit design has become increasingly
complicated owing to the advent of new technologies enabling aircraft to fly farther and faster
more efficiently than ever before. With greater workloads imposed on pilots as fleets modernize,
the reality of he or she exceeding the workload limit has become manifest. Because of the
unpredictable nature of man, this problem is impossible to eliminate completely.
However, the instances of occurrence can be drastically reduced by examining the nature of man,
how he operates in the cockpit, and what must be done by engineers to design a system in which
man and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will be discussed in further detail in another chapter (Hawkins, 249 54).
III. System Design A design team should support the concept that the pilot s interface with the
system, including task needs, decision needs, feedback requirements, and responsibilities, must be
primary considerations for defining the system s functions and logic, as opposed to the system
concept coming first and the user interface coming later, after the system s functionality is fully
defined.
There are numerous examples where application of human centered design principles and processes
could be better applied to improve the design process and final product. Although manufacturers
utilize human factors specialists to varying degrees, they are typically brought into the design
effort in limited roles or late in the process, after the operational and functional requirements have
been defined (Sanders McCormick, 727 8). When joining the design process late, the ability of the
human factors specialist to influence the final design and facilitate incorporation of human
centered design principles is severely compromised. Human factors should be considered on par
with other disciplines involved in the design process. The design process can be seen as a six step
process; determining the objectives and performance specifications, defining the system, basic
system design, interface design, facilitator design, and testing and evaluation of the system. This
model

Sectional Tension Dbq Essay
By the 1850s sectional tension had spread across the nation. The lack of a solution to the issue of
slavery that would appease both proponents and opponents of the issue increased this tension. The
Constitution was written as a document to bring the nation together but was beginning to tear it
apart. The Constitution was vague in terms of addressing slavery within the United States, causing
arguments made by both sides of the issue to further polarize the nation. The statement, By the
1850s the Constitution, originally framed as an instrument of national unity, had become a source
of sectional discord and tension and ultimately contributed to the failure of the union it had created.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was an outspoken opponent of the Fugitive Slave Laws. He believed they
were immoral and unconstitutional because they encouraged the kidnapping and the violation of
basic human rights of free blacks in the north. Also, Emerson believed such laws were suicidal to
any hope of preserving the Union (Document D). Another outspoken opponent of slavery was
William Lloyd Garrison. Garrison argued that the Constitution did not protect the slave system, the
words slaves and slavery are not to be found in the Constitution and therefore it was never intended
to give any protection or countenance to the slave system (Document E). His argument was that the
institution of slavery was not protected by the Constitution. Additionally, Garrison believed that the
government should have been protecting slaves from the slave system because it was an
unconstitutional practice and that it is was not enough for northerners to just disassociate
themselves with the slave system (Document E). The validity of the original statement is further
proven by the northern interpretation of the Constitution because they viewed the southerners as
being unconstitutional by practicing slavery. This discord proved to divide the nation over how the
Constitution addressed the issue of

  • 2. Base 10 There are a variation of different ways numeric and alphanumeric data can be represented within a computer system. Base 10 (Decimal) As humans from an early age we learn to count using the base 10 system, this is a system to tell us how many times we have counted to 10 with the addition of any extra, for example the number 17 the 1 on the left shows us we have counter to 10 once and the 7 shows we have an additional 7, the number 52 shows us we have counted to the number 10 five times and an additional 2. As humans we find this base 10 system easier due to the simplicity of it, and our relation to the number 10, as we have 10 fingers which can be used as physical representations of the number. Computer systems can t use this method due to it only being able to recognized and deal with 2 states, on of off (1 and 0). Base 2 (Binary) Due to the computer not being able to handle base 10 and only being able to recognized 2 states, on or off, 1 or 0. It uses a method called base 2. This base 2 method is called binary which uses the numbers 1 and 0 to calculate. An example of this base 2 system would be the number two which we know to be 2 which is a base 10 number, in base 2 the number 2 would be 10. Another example of this is the number 110111 in base 2 is the same as the number 55 in base ten. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Juxtaposition Between Good And Evil In The Characters Of... The chronicles of Beowulf are episodic and carries many conundrums. Specifically, there lies an enormous contrast between good and evil. The protagonist, Beowulf, is chivalrous, mighty, and loyal. By the same token, Beowulf s extraordinary showing of patriotism enables him to be the ultimate keeper of justice. On the other hand, Grendel upholds evil that is derived from pure envious. It is important to note, that Grendel expresses a high level of combat experiences, just as Beowulf, however, the wicked man uses his unwavering incitement for iniquitous ways. All things considered, the juxtaposition between the great Beowulf, and the relentless Grendel, has many significant distinctions between both characters, including, the contrast between honorable and villainous. Although, both individuals possess superhuman characteristics, the differences in Beowulf s confidence, ethics, and bravery will out match Grendel s jealous, irrational, and forsaken soul; As a matter of fact, the worthy warrior will be crowned victor because God does not let the nefarious waste away the righteous. Above all, Beowulf s rather extraordinary confidence, encourages the demise of any opposition. The noble warrior boasts of his skill often in Beowulf. In particular, Seamus Heaney affirms Beowulf s public gloat: I had a fixed purpose when I put out to sea. For instance, one of the substitutes for the European airline industry would be the Eurostar Railway. For example, a passenger who wants to travel to Paris by 23rd November 2015 the cheapest ticket he/she could purchase will be from the Eurostar (standard class) and it only costs 146 pounds from start. And the starting price for Air France (economy class) will be 261 pounds. Meanwhile, KLM (economy class) starts from 250 pounds. On the other hand, the timing for airlines does not have many advantages as well. Eurostar needs about 2 hours and16 minutes, Air France costs almost 1hour and 25 minutes and KLM needs about the same duration with Air France as if it is directly flight to Paris and if there is a flight transferring the duration could be 3 hours and 50 minutes mostly as their official websites showing. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of communism, wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle . Marx s notion of class has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper, middle and lower classes (which are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth). Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx describes an economic class. Membership in a class is defined by one s relationship to the means of production, i.e., one s position in the social structure that characterizes capitalism. Marx talks mainly about two classes that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the floods! For the bourgeoisie, what would be the point in shaking the dominant image of a country made of too much water and too many poor people ? However, it is not possible to completely black out the existence of class struggle and some information gets through. The following is a resume of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994: On December 4th 1994 thousands of poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to take control of the headquarters and training centre in the capital, Dacca. After 4 days, by which time the mutiny had spread to other provinces, repression began in earnest. The army s special forces attacked the occupies barracks, using very significant measures: artillery guns, rockets, helicopters, gas, armored cars... with an official toll of 4 deaths and 50 wounded. The first ideological image is therefore shattered: there are more than just disarmed, ragged, soaking wet beggars in Bangladesh! A different technique is now needed to explain events and, this time, the media choose to fall back on the traditional explanation of struggle between official and opposition parties. • 10. Chesapeake Colonies Vs New England Colonies As stories of the New World drifted back to the old, a new start appealed to the residents of a troubled, turbulent England. Poverty had made it difficult for many to provide for their families, forcing them to seek their livelihood elsewhere. Displaced peasants traveled to the already overpopulated major cities such as London, hoping to scrape by. Around the same time, King Henry VIII severed ties with the Catholic Church, establishing the Church of England, a Catholic sect with himself at the head. This led to confusion and dissent within England, ending in the eventual rise of the Protestant William and Mary until the rise of Elizabeth I, when she severed ties with Rome anew. This religious confusion led to an unstable religious climate in England, resulting in persecution of many different religions. Social, economic and religious issues led many to look to the Americas as an opportunity to start fresh, economically and religiously. Although the New England and the Chesapeake regions both started as small colonies, simply hoping to get by in the New World, by the 18th century they developed into drastically different cultures. The New England region consisted of many Puritans who fled England seeking religious freedom, while the Chesapeake region consisted of young Englishmen seeking wealth. Despite their similar hope for a better life in the New World, as a result of differences in topography, economy, religious background and overall societal views, the two colonies had developed into two distinct societies by the 1700s. Before either the New England or Chesapeake colonies were founded, the differences in the intentions of its founders foreshadowed the two distinct societies the colonies would become. Jamestown, the first of the Chesapeake colonies, was founded on the premise of accumulating wealth. Settlers traveled to the New World in hopes of economic opportunity for themselves and their investors, spending their early days searching for gold. The gentlemen not only faced disappointment as they realized their search for riches was a waste, but starvation as they had not allocated their resources and time to establish their settlement and plant food. • 12. A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis Essay On Saturday, May 20th, I attended a production of Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire. This production, put on by the Scottish Ballet at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, offered a simmering story of sexuality and betrayal. Prior to my viewing of the performance, I sat in on the pre lecture where I was enlightened on the background of the story and choreographer. A Streetcar Named Desireis one of the few works to be performed as a play, a movie, and a dance production. The choreographer of this production, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, was discussed as being an accomplished artist whose love of jazz and hip hop influenced her creative decisions. The lecturer also touched upon how Williams life affected the play. The character Stanley was said to be modelled on his own father. The story of Streetcar is also very much affected by the time in which it is set. Because the story takes place two years following the end of World War II, there is a sense of newfound modernity and resistance to the old ways. Immediately following the pre lecture, I settled into my seat and noticed how anticipatory the audience seemed. All guests were obviously excited to attend and experience the production. The weakness in the evidence that the author provides is related to the fact that a lot of the evidence is anecdotal and not factual. A book on technology should have many statistics and facts, as it will strengthen the thesis. This is true, as the technology industry is all about the numbers and facts. In addition, anecdotal evidence is a good buffer or introduction for people who don t know about technology, as it allows for them to connect to the topic. The anecdotal evidence was a little too much, however the facts, statistics, graphs and charts helped balance out the strength of the thesis. This implies that today, every specieson the planet has gone through an evolutionary process and that each individual performs their role in the ecosystem. Like the many species in the world, we human beings (thanks to certain characteristics that allow us to adapt and modify the environment) have been able to increase our chances of survival on earth and this has led us to a gigantic population and economic growth, which we call Development. However, such a development makes the degradation of natural resources increasingly fast, making it imperative and necessary to establish conservation oriented guidelines, since biodiversityis of the utmost importance for the functioning of the ecosystem. BIODIVERSITY Biodiversity or biological diversity is a term used very well to describe the richness and variety of all living things in the world; from plants and animals to microorganisms and beings a thousand times more complex. Female sterilization is an irreversible and controversial form of fertility control that most often involves the surgical cutting or tubal ligation of a woman s fallopian tubes (Ruiz Korrol, 2006). Sterilizationwas important for the eugenicsmovement and sterilization of females helped eugenics move forward. Eugenics was intended to stop individuals deemed unfit from reproducing in hopes of keeping the human population pure. Essay on Surrogate Motherhood Surrogate Motherhood is something that not many people actually support, even though it is one of the many reproductive techniques that have enabled infertile couples to have children (qtd. in Freedman). There are two types of surrogacy, traditional and gestational. The traditional type of surrogacy involves the surrogate mother being (AI) artificially inseminated with the sperm of the intended father or sperm from a donor when the sperm count is low. In either case the surrogate s own egg will be used. Genetically the surrogate becomes the mother of the resulting child (Storey). Film Analysis of The Gods Must Be Crazy Analysis of The Gods Must Be Crazy (Order # A2059556) In 1980 a low budget South African film was released which over the years has not only spawned a number of sequels, but took a rather humorous look at the cultural differences between so called primitive cultures and the modern world. The film was called The Gods Must Be Crazy, was written and directed by South African filmmaker Jamie Uys, and called by the New York Magazine pure play, an amiable shaggy dog story in which the awesome wilderness serves as an adaptable prop. (Denby, 47) It told the story of a Ju/hoansi bushman who journeyed to the end of the Earth to discard a Coke bottle; and along the way encountered the modern world for the very first time. Modern society was presented through the eyes of a person who had never encountered it before, and while the interaction was often portrayed as hilarious, it also provided a interesting view of the modern world from a most unlikely source. Uys film captures the interaction between members of two very different societies with very different sets of values. It begins when a coke bottle is thrown out of the window of a passing airplane and lands in the village of a group of primitive Kalahari Bushmen. Because they had never had contact with the outside world, they had no knowledge of what the bottle was, and believed that it was a gift from their gods. I have come to realize that even though this movement is a sonata formconsisting of three main sections, it still feels as though it has 2 main sections (binary structure). The cadential structure of the 1st half consist of mainly using the half cadence (I V) from measures 1 100 which is the Exposition whereas the 2nd half of the movement from measures 101 152 Development and Recapitulation uses full cadence (I IV V I) and mostly ends in a perfect authentic cadence.... The short motive in the transition section (m. 13 14, m.50 51, m.95 100, m.111 114) is almost like a motive from Haydn s string quartet. Before Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on December, 1863, by John Wilkes, Lincoln announced the first Reconstruction plan a year before the Civil War had ended and Lincoln offered general amnesty to white southerners who would pledge an oath of loyalty to the government and accept the abolition of slavery. During the summer of 1865, Johnson not long after he took office had revealed his plan for Reconstruction or as he preferred to call it Restoration, which reflected both his staunch Unionism and his firm belief in states rights. He offered some form of amnesty to Southerners who would take the oath of allegiance. In 1865 and 1866, under the administration of President Andrew Johnson new southern state legislatures passed restrictive black codes to control the labor and behavior of former slaves and other African Americans. North outraged over these codes eroded support which led to the triumph of the more radical wing of the Republican Party and the approach known as Presidential Reconstruction. During Radical Reconstruction which began in 1866, and for the first time in American history, blacks gained a voice in government and they won elections to southern state legislatures and even to the U.S. Congress. • 30. The Four Stages Of Cognitive Development Jean Piaget was the first psychologist to design a comprehensive model for the study cognitive development. This model explained how a child s cognitive skills develop over their lifetime, which will eventually result in more of an adult way of thinking; or a more elaborate and logical way of thinking. Unlike other psychologists who were studying cognition, Piaget believed that children were not tiny adults , who had to eventually access a more complex way of thinking over time. Instead, he believed that a child s cognition progresses in stages through the process of reorganizing their way of thinking. The four stages of cognitive development, which I will discuss later, stemmed from a child s need to equal their two process of thinking. These two processes of thinking are called assimilation and accommodation. Assimilation is defined as the ability to take in new information or experiences and connecting them with previous knowledge. Accommodation is defined as gaining new information or experiences that cause a child to modify their existing schemas, or previous idea. However, in accommodation, rather than the child completely making new information; they change the previous schema to make it fit, or accommodate, the new information. By understanding these two processes of thinking, and how they developed over time, Piaget created his four stage theory of cognition development. There are people making bad decisions when showing others their opinions on campuses. In the article Hate speechvs Free speech:Where is the Line on College Campuses, written by Rosanna Xia it discusses the controversy of speakers coming to campuses and creating problems. The article Where is the Line on College Campuses, brings up the issue of how free speech is now becoming a problem for both students and staff on college campuses. There have been many riots and violent behaviors following certain speakers who have come to some colleges. This was all due to the fact that some of the subjects can really fire people up, and make them have a negative outlook on what is being said. They don t want to take or limit the students and staffs first amendment but these speakers are really causing an issue for them. Figuring out different ways to try and solve the problem without creating another one, is definitely a struggle. One idea that they had was to hold Q A s, because they ... • 44. Lean Production Of Lean Manufacturing 2.3.1) Lean Manufacturing Review Lean originally comes from the thought of scarce resources. The Japanese automotive manufacturer called Toyota was the one who introduced this method with innovations such as JIT, and so forth [14; 44; 28]. Lean operations were used as a different method for capital intensive mass manufacture in order to help firm use resources more effectively and efficiently. As a result, the firm will be able to reduce muda activity and non value adding tasks. The procedure of lean implementation and research had been widely used by many organizations across the world. Conglomerates found out that the manufacturing process need not only improvement in performance, but also the development must be extended and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, there are also some other features after the relationship and commitment between suppliers until customers. Those features are the trade of concepts (communication), data, and advantages such as merge inR D, long term relationship, and so forth [38; 40; 9]. The concept of lean supply also is being as the start of the enhancement in system in terms of taking the proactive role in improving the usual technique for similar advantages throughout the supply chain. As from the authors, the suppliers will work on working with manufacturer and ongoing collaborate until customers in both direct and indirect ways [13]. Introduction Since the dawn of the aviation era, cockpit design has become increasingly complicated owing to the advent of new technologies enabling aircraft to fly farther and faster more efficiently than ever before. With greater workloads imposed on pilots as fleets modernize, the reality of he or she exceeding the workload limit has become manifest. Because of the unpredictable nature of man, this problem is impossible to eliminate completely. However, the instances of occurrence can be drastically reduced by examining the nature of man, how he operates in the cockpit, and what must be done by engineers to design a system in which man and ... System Design A design team should support the concept that the pilot s interface with the system, including task needs, decision needs, feedback requirements, and responsibilities, must be primary considerations for defining the system s functions and logic, as opposed to the system concept coming first and the user interface coming later, after the system s functionality is fully defined. There are numerous examples where application of human centered design principles and processes could be better applied to improve the design process and final product. Although manufacturers utilize human factors specialists to varying degrees, they are typically brought into the design effort in limited roles or late in the process, after the operational and functional requirements have been defined (Sanders McCormick, 727 8). When joining the design process late, the ability of the human factors specialist to influence the final design and facilitate incorporation of human centered design principles is severely compromised. Human factors should be considered on par with other disciplines involved in the design process. The design process can be seen as a six step process; determining the objectives and performance specifications, defining the system, basic system design, interface design, facilitator design, and testing and evaluation of the system. Garrison argued that the Constitution did not protect the slave system, the words slaves and slavery are not to be found in the Constitution and therefore it was never intended to give any protection or countenance to the slave system (Document E). His argument was that the institution of slavery was not protected by the Constitution. Additionally, Garrison believed that the government should have been protecting slaves from the slave system because it was an unconstitutional practice and that it is was not enough for northerners to just disassociate themselves with the slave system (Document E). The validity of the original statement is further proven by the northern interpretation of the Constitution because they viewed the southerners as being unconstitutional by practicing slavery.
