Concepts And Practices Of Sustainability And Green...
1. INTRODUCTION The activation of the application of the concepts and practices of sustainability
and green architecture in the construction industry will lead to finding appropriate solutions to the
problems of environmental, economic and functional. Green architecture and sustainable buildings is
not a luxury academically, and do not approach the theory or the aspirations and dreams have no place
in reality, but because they represent a global trend for the application and start to be professional
practice and conscious to take the features of shape and dimensions to a great extent between the
architects and engineers involved in the building and construction sectors in the advanced industrial
countries. some of these countries had cutting a long way in this field, and there are a significant
increase in demand for this approach years ago, in this case the people had increase the motivation of
being interest in the sustainable building. the architects and designer In a race against time to provide
a healthy environment and economical at the same time and crowned the work by green buildings.
Green buildings generally use 50% 75% less energy than conventional construction. therefore, in
order to find solutions to environmental problems and economic plaguing the construction sector we
urgently need to change traditional patterns used in the design and implementation of buildings to
make them more sustainable, and this required change must begin quickly to provide indoor

Comparing Grendel And Beowulf
After reading the classic Anglo Saxon tale, Beowulf, readers find themselves engrossed in the
character of Grendel. This interest led to John Gardner s creation of Grendel, a novel that tells Grendel
s side of the story and gives readers a deeper understanding of the character s personality and morals.
While the two stories use the same characters, they are still extremely different. Beowulf s predictable
narrative and basic language make the story very easy to comprehend, while Grendel is filled with
complex phrasing and intricate characters that require intense analyzation to decipher. The analyzation
required to truly understand Grendel displays the varying audiences the stories were written for.
Grendel and Beowulf also use completely different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theme coming of age is included in both compositions. Throughout Grendel, Grendel struggles to
come to terms with who he is and frequently straddles the border between adulthood and childhood.
For example, after getting stuck in a tree, Grendel cries out for his mother and then moments later
contemplates the meaning of life: The king snatched an ax from the man beside him and, without any
warning, he hurled it at me... I bellowed for my mother...I tried to tell her that happened, all that I d
come to understand: the meaningless objectiveness of the world... (Gardner 27 28). This bouncing
back and forth between a child s mindset and an adult s shows Grendel s gradual coming of age.
Beowulf s main character, Beowulf, is forced to endure many quests that challenge him not only
physically, but mentally forcing him to come of age as well. Beowulf has to question many of the
things he thought he knew, resulting in him growing wiser, much like Grendel. For example, during
his fight with Grendel, Beowulf first says he does not want the help of his Thanes, but when Grendel
starts to beat him, his Thanes are forced to step in (Beowulf Lines 80 100). This teaches Beowulf that
he needs to accept help in the end and does not always have to accomplish things on his own,
something he uses to his advantage in later battles. Altogether, both Grendel and Beowulf

Persepolis Anoosh Dichotomy
In Marjane Satrapi s book Persepolis, her portrayal of the people involved in the revolution challenges
the paradigm of fundamentalism, fanaticism, and terrorism typically linked to Iran. She does this with
her uncle, Anoosh. Anoosh is different from the other characters in the book so far. A lover and hero,
Anoosh tells Marjane of how he had loved a girl from the USSR and she broke his heart. He states,
Russians aren t like us... It s hearts they don t have, they don t know how to love. Anoosh makes the
dichotomy between them and us. He believes Iranians are different from those in other parts of the
world, Iranians are lovers. Earlier, Anoosh tells Marjane of his time as Secretary to his brother in the

Four Aspects Of The Four Elements Of Classical Conditioning
Classical Conditioning is the repeated use of stimuli in combination with a repeated significant
psychological event to train the one being conditioned to anticipate the event in response to the
stimuli. The most basic example of this type of conditioning is train an animal to expect treats by
making use of their sense of sound and blowing a whistle or ringing a bell just before you give them a
treat each time. This will train the animal to associate the sound of the whistle or bell with the
reception of the forthcoming treat, and it will begin to salivate in anticipation of getting the treat
whenever it hears the sound.
There are four elements of classical conditioning. These elements of classical conditioning include
unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned response.
These four elements make up the classical conditioning procedure. An unconditioned stimulus in an
experiment is a stimulus that elicits a response from the subject of the experiment without any
previous conditioning. This can be anything that elicits an instinctual response that an organism might
have, such as the treat that the animal salivates over as described in the experiment in paragraph one.
An unconditioned response in any response regarding an unconditioned stimulus. In the case stated in
paragraph one, the unconditioned response would be the salivating of the animal in anticipation of the
treat. A conditioned stimulus is a stimulus that would have no

John Kay Accomplishments
The famous mathematician that I have chosen is John Napier and he was the creator of logarithms. I
choose John Napier because I his invention of logarithms was one of the many math inventions that I
don t find annoying to do. Also, it felt like he would have a detailed biography thanks to his well
known creation along with it catching my eye when looking at a list of mathematicians. I wasn t
inspired by him or his creation, but it feels like what he created was worth taking up my time to write
about him. Therefore, this paper will be about John Napier s early life, his contributions and
accomplishments, theology, and his legacy. John Napier was born February 1st, 1550 and was born
into a wealthy family, so he had a head start in his education thanks to private tutors. He was an
intelligent child and went to the University of St. Andrews at the age of thirteen. There is no indication
that he graduated but it is shown that he had study abroad. He went to Europe to study in Paris and
Italy to which he returned home in 1571. When he returned he married a woman named Elizabeth
Stirling in 1573 and had two kids. He later received his father s estates along with a castle to live in

calculators but today nobody would probably know what Napier s bones are besides thinking it to be
his actual bones. Besides his mathematician legacy he has a book that could be read today and some
weapons that could be seen in old documents about weapons used in

The Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The End Of The...
Reconstruction began early in 1865 after the end of the civil war when the South was undergoing
political, social and economic upheavals (Foner 15). The South embraced Union methods of total wars
that led to damage to their land and crops. As a result, many people died while others were captured as
slaves due to the huge drought and inflation facing their state, while their masters fled oncoming
unions. From these losses, policymakers by 1865 in Washington had no other choice rather than
reconstruction. Reconstruction involved several initiatives including abolishment and transformation
of the Southern society, recovering the Southern Unions and most importantly the enactment of an
assimilation legislation program that would aid in favoring the freed blacks into the American social
and economic system. President Lincoln had pardoned reconstruction of the South long before in1863
two years before the war ended (Kennedy and Cohen 44). This was known as the ten percent plan that
supported one of the initiatives. This plan allowed the Southern state to be assimilated to the union
after every ten percent of the population. Later in the year 1865 president Lincoln got assassinated and
Andrew Johnson succeeded him. President Johnson carried on with the ten percent plan. Both
presidents shared a similar interest during their reign which was to abolish slavery before joining the
union.
The radical republic congress as well admitted that the Southern States had to be transformed fully

Comparing the Living Dead in James Joyce s The Dead and...
Dubliners and The Living Dead
In his work The Dead, James Joyce utilizes his character Michael Furey, Gretta Conroy s deceased
love from her youth, as an apparent symbol of how the dead have a steadfast and continuous power
over the living. The dominant power which Michael maintains over the protagonist, Gabriel Conroy, is
that Gabriel is faced with the intense question of whether his wife, Gretta Conroy, loves him and
whether he honestly loves her. Joyce provides substantial information to persuade one to believe that
Gabriel does truly love his wife. Even though it is made evident to the reader that Gabriel possesses
such devotion and adoration for Gretta, Michael diverts Gabriel s confidence in his love, causing

Gabriel becomes distraught at the revelation of her statement. Joyce describes Gabriel s anguished
state, Generous tears filled Gabriel s eyes. He had never felt like that himself towards any woman, but
he knew that such a feeling must be love (Joyce 182). Gabriel is perplexed as to why, if Gretta loves
him so much, she still possesses memories of her first love. He also wonders why this important detail
of Gretta s life was not brought to his attention at an earlier point. Gabriel s recognition that he has
been excluded from what he believes to be the deepest experience of Gretta s life now becomes the
deepest experience of his life. Gretta s reaction to his questions about her first love causes Gabriel to
become overwhelmed by Michael Furey s control over him.
Gabriel by his ideas, his tastes, and his sensitivities has been isolated from others but always found
solace in his self esteem. Michael Furey has destroyed this. The tears gathered more thickly in his eyes
and in the particular darkness he imagined he saw a young man standing under a dripping tree (Joyce
182). Though Michael is certainly dead in body, he lives on in the memories of both Gretta and
Gabriel, and his influence can in no way be obliterated. Joyce depicts the power Michael has over
Gabriel, A vague terror seized Gabriel... as if... some impalpable and vindictive being was coming
against him, gathering forces in its vague world (Joyce

Health Disparities In Health Care In Birmingham, Alabama
Alabama ranks poorly on many health indicators. It is ranked 47th out of 50 in the nation in overall
health; 43rd in cancer deaths, 2nd in deaths from cardiovascular disease and 3rd in the incidence of
diabetes (Healthy People 2010). Also, Alabama is ranked 5th in the number of residents without health
insurance. In my opinion, I believe the greatest challenge that these health disparities present is that
very often socioeconomic status determines an individual s health status. Growing up in Birmingham,
Alabama, I witnessed many people in my community suffer from health issues because compared to
other ethnic groups, African Americans, tend to be far less trusting of physicians and their medical
advice. Notably, the distrust is rooted in pass corrupt cases, such as, the 40 year Tuskegee syphilis

regards to this, diversity in the medical profession is important. As an aspiring future African

empathize with my patients. I would like to become a physician to improve healthcare in my
hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. The poverty rate in Birmingham a predominately African
American city is 30.9%. The average household income in the city is less than $32,000, as a
consequence of low income levels; the rate of health disparities is greatly

Best Buy Case Study Essay
BEST BUY In 1966, Richard Shulze opened a small business in St. Paul, Minnesota called Sound of
Music. In the next 17 years Shulze s small store rapidly grew into a multi million dollar outfit. In
1983, Sound of Music changed its name to Best Buy Co., Inc and the first superstore was opened in
Burnsville, Minnesota. With the new name the store also began carrying more name brands,
appliances, VCRs and offering central service and warehouse distribution. Throughout the nineties
Best Buy became pioneers in offering the newest technology such as DVDs and high definition TVs.

Implementation of New Vision It makes sense for Best Buy to worry more about Wal Mart, which is
getting more involved in electronics retailing, and less about Circuit City. The competitors are a
diverse lot today, and for them to continue to grow they re going to have to get much better at
everything they do and define themselves in clear ways. Best Buy s plan is to revamp its stores
according to the types of customers they serve. A strategy previously mentioned, customer centricity,
focuses on targeting five prototypical customers, all of whom have been given names: Jill, a busy
suburban mom; Buzz, a focused, active younger male; Ray, a family man who likes his technology
practical; BB4B (short for Best Buy for Business), a small professional employer; and Barry, an
affluent professional male who s likely to drop tens of thousands of dollars on a home theater system.
Their most current focus is on a Jill based store, the soccer mom who has money to spend but
typically hasn t a clue of where or how to find products in the store. According to the data Best Buy
has collected, Jill shops a few times a year, usually twice at an electronics store, but she usually
spends a significant amount. The Santa Rosa Best Buy, Store #120, is a Jill store. Here is an example
of how they cater to their particular target market. Pink, red and white balloons decorate the entrance.

Introduction
The Falklands War, or La Guerra de Las Malvinas in Spanish, also referred to as The South Atlantic
War. It was a small, but furiously loud conflict between two countries across different ends of the
globe, both fighting for a few small islands in which most of the population farm sheep for a living.
Before going any deeper into the essay, the selected topic is personally a very difficult area to delve
into, as my Argentine background has always made me see this conflict differently. This is from the
prolonged exposure to Argentine culture, which the Falkland War greatly affected, including my
family and friend s history to the war, and events around it, which is also why I chose it.
The history of the Islands has already had a long history before the war, in 1690 a British sailor John
Strong discovers the islands, half a decade later, and they claim the Islands as a British Colony. During
Britain s, delayed claim, Spain joins into the dividing of the islands, later France also intervenes with
the colony, managing to get a slice too. Between 1764 and 1767, initiated by the French after the 7 ...

Eli Wiesel Book Report Night
Night by Eli Wiesel
Amrinder Bhuller
P.2
Author: The author of Night is Elie Wiesel. In my opinion, he did a very good job in writing this
story! Eli was born on September 30, 1928. Eli is currently 86 and has written a lot of books. Eli had
served as a prisoner Auschwitz and other concentration camps. He wrote all his experiences in this
book. The Night talks about his experiences in these concentration camps and all he went through.
Everything is probably historically correct because he went through all this and he wrote the book
because of what happened to him. He is currently a Jewish American professor.
Point Of View: The point of view of the story is in first person. The author himself has went through
all of this and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title technically explains how the lives of the Jews were during this time period. They never had a
good day during this time period when Hitler was trying to kill them(World War II). Everyday
hundreds of Jews were captured or killed. The Jews had to run away a lot. Everyday, despite the sun
may be out it was darkness for them. They couldn t get out of the darkness! Then when Hitler gets
stopped, a ray of hope is emerged. The Jews were finally able to live their lives and finally have the
darkness go away. Hitler had surrounded their lives with darkness because he was trying to eliminate
all Jews. Hitler died and the Jews had nothing to be scared of except for God.
Figurative language:
There wasn t maybe figurative languages besides smilies but I did find some. An example of a simile
in the book is: The barbed wire that encircled us like a wall did not fit us with real fear. (Page 11). The
simile refers to that the Jews were basically in a camp in which they were surrounded by a barbed
wire. This simile is a big factor because it shows that the people are trapped with wires around them
giving them no chance to escape. Another example is figurative language was personification. I
believe it is important to emphasize how strongly I feel that books, just like people, have a destiny.
(Page 17). This is an example of personification because the author is relating a non living object to
something that a living object has. We, people, have a destiny and no

Columbine Reflection
Columbine by Dave Cullen presented me with a vast array of knowledge and insight into an incident
which I had minimal knowledge of. What very little knowledge I had came from exposure to the
incident through classroom discussions from years past, and occasional references to Columbine
through media vectors such as television and music. I knew the incident occurred after I was born, but
I was unaware of the actual date and far too young to have any sort of recollection in regards to it. I
was aware that there were two shooters who committed the act, but I had no idea what led them to do
what they did or how they carried out their act. I also was aware that the lunchroom played a
significant role in the incident, but I thought this was because where the majority of the shooting took
place when in fact it was not. I found the concepts of religious influence, media influence, and the
professionalism of the police to be main themes throughout the book. These were just a few
overarching ideas the kept rearing their heads as I read. Each one pertaining to ... Show more content

Reasons For The Nullification Crisis
The Nullification crisis was a very dangerous point in time in America. Anytime in history when there
was a revolt caused chaos throughout the nation. In 1832, the many tariffs hurt the state of South
Carolina. Because of the disruption throughout the state, a convention was called to solve the problem.
It took three major steps: It declared the tariffs of 1828 and 1832 null and void within South Carolina.
They also warned that they may succeed from the union because of the unfair tariffs. At this point, a
way to prevent war was necessary and at the top of everyone s list. Tension was building when finally,
Senator Clay of Kentucky came up with a compromise to appease everyone. The government would
gradually reduce the impact of the Tariff.

Arguments Against Animal Testing
In this world today we don t think about much. There are multiple things going on behind the scenes,
and we re oblivious to it all. One of those things being animal testing, animal testing is a big problem
in today s society, not many people know what s going on in hiding. Animals can feel pain just like us,
and with some of these experiments, the pain an animal can experience is tremendous. Therefore,
animals should not have to suffer excruciating pain for our beauty products or medicine when there
will always be a first human tester, especially when there are multiple times the test could pass on
animals but not on humans.
Animals can feel pain just like us, no matter what some of us think any living, breathing or moving
thing can feel pain. With animal testing comes a lot of failures on animals which can turn out to be
horrendous. The pain levels animals can feel is beyond the scale of a human s pain tolerance. With that
animals are similar to humans yet very different, which make it harder to trust the drugs and or beauty
products that are being tested on these animals for us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With testing, it is cruel and inhumane for us to use animals as our test subjects . According to Humane

burns and other wounds to study the healing process. The infliction of pain to research its effects and

The Impact Of Stereotypes And Stereotypes

Stereotype:

However, they should not be chastised for their decision.
Throughout history, there have been many experiments and works of literature showcasing the effect
and various perspectives of being marginalized in society. For example, the prose essay written by
Fang Gao titled, What it means to be a model minority : voices of ethnic Koreans in Northeast China.
In this article, he explains the different opinions and struggles that Koreans have, living in China. Gao
suggests that Koreans and Asians share the same racials label: portrayed as a model minority that is
primed for socioeconomic advancement and academic success (qtd. in Gao 55). This stereotype has a
negative effect on both the Chinese and Korean population. The stereotype of a model minority is
making it challenging for Koreans to become their own individual ethnic group in China. Thus,
making them feel unrecognized and marginalized into the chinese population. For instance, some
people are proud to be a Korean in China because it often implies the struggle they went through, in
able to cross the border of communist North Korea and making it into China.

How Informal Language Affect Australian Society
Discuss how informal language functions in Australian society. Refer to at least two subsystems.
British linguist David Crystal once said languages that don t change are dead ones , and the evolution
of English language; not only in Australia, but on a global scale has developed in such a way that
formal language is progressively becoming obsolete, whilst informal language is transforming into an
increasingly contemporary form of written and spoken communication. The wide utilisation of
informal language especially in modern day Australian society functions to aid in the building of
rapport, as well as enabling an increased association of an individual s identity with the richness of
Australian culture. Although this is clearly evident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This in turn ensures that when these words are stated there is less likely to be a situation where they
violate the face values of a particular individual as they have lost their sense of vulgar. This in turn
ensures that the face needs of all interlocutors involved in a discourse are respected, which enables
effective rapport building to occur within a particular sociolect or in Australian society in general.
The wide employment of informal language in modern day civilization also allows for an individual s
association with their cultures identity and values to be increased dramatically; which is especially
vital in countries like Australia. This is clearly evident through a wide use of colloquialisms and slang
lexemes that contribute to the social identity of Australia. For example lexemes such as mate and g
day are widely present in the Australian English vernacular and these relate wholly to the sense of
solidarity and openness that is intricate to Australian culture. This is evident through the word mate
which has been utilised instead of more formal lexemes such as sir or madam , which were more
popular in the past as a way of showing another person that they are friends or that they are considered
important, which clearly respects their positive face needs. The lexeme g day on the other hand is
regularly used as an opening in a discourse between Australian members of the community of similar
social class. This

The earliest I have of myself reading is in early kindergarten. Vividly, I remember parking my butt
right in front of my decaying bookshelf. The white shelves was filled with skinny books placed in our
kitchen (at the time my family lived in a small apartment, so the entrance near the kitchen was the
only place to put it). At the time, I picked books of the bottom shelf and try to read the whole stack. I
absolutely loved reading when I was younger. Yet somehow, whether or not it was because I was
forced to read in school, or over a gradual slump my passion died out. Nevertheless, my younger self
was infatuated with reading, and it might as well be worth sharing.
Since kindergarten the biggest push over the course of the year was to read, and being the young, ...

My class had a fantastic book selection for the English curriculum. During the ninety minutes spent
dedicated to either The BFG, Bridge to Terabithia, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, or the Phantom
Tollbooth, and I felt comfortable while my teacher read a chapter or two to us everyday. To this day I
have the books sitting on my shabby bookshelf. I haven t opened them in a long time, but I refuse to
give them away. Not only that but, my teacher once read an Encyclopedia Brown book, and that got
me interested in mystery books. In fact, the next time I went to the library, I got eight Encyclopedia
Brown books and read them all in two days.
By seventh grade, I didn t like to read as much as I used to. It s probably due to the fact that
throughout my school years, reading had to be done, and the type of reading was enjoyable. That was
the case for some of seventh grade, but two books I read in English class stood out to me. One was a
memoir, Red Scarf Girl and the other was a nonfiction book about the atomic bomb, simply named
Bomb. The way the author crafted each book, made me read them over and over in a few

The Impact Of Traditional Chemotherapeutic Agents On Patients
In contrast to a decade ago, we ve seen an explosion of new drugs and virtually all of these drugs are
targeted therapies. The substantial increase in the transition of FDA approvals from standard
chemotherapeutics to targeted therapies is also equally astounding (Martino et al., 2015). The
traditional chemotherapeutic agents are simply not being developed with the same frequency by drug
companies any more. While chemotherapeutics have had a real impact and in some diseases a
dramatic impact, for most common solid tumours, these impacts have been minimal. Moreover,
standard chemotherapy often results in collateral damage to healthy cells causing unwanted side
effects while targeted therapies are associated with fewer and less toxic side ... Show more content on

This chromosome abnormality involved the exchange of genetic information between ABL gene on
chromosome 9 and BCR gene on chromosome 22. What was remarkable about this was that 95% of
patients with CML had this chromosomal abnormality (ROWLEY, 1973).
Subsequent research showed that in a CML cancer cell, the fusion protein BRC ABL functions as a
constitutively activated intracellular tyrosine kinase that binds to ATP and transfers a phosphate group
to its target substrate protein. The target substrate protein then becomes phosphorylated and progresses
to stimulate cell growth of the leukaemia cells (Lugo et al., 1990).
The drug, Gleevac mimics ATP so it binds to the site within the BRC ABL that s normally bound by
ATP, preventing it from binding. It thereby prevents phosphorylation of the substrate target protein
and prevents cancer cell growth (Deininger, Buchdunger and Druker, 2005).
Based on the 1998 2000 clinical studies, Imatinib yielded high response rates with minimal toxicity in
all phases of CML and consequently received FDA approval in 2001 (Druker et al., 2001) (O Brien et
al., 2003) (Druker et al., 2001) (Hahn, 2003). This was actually the fastest drug approval in FDA
history as within three years the drug went from being an experimental drug to an FDA approved
drug.
However, just after Imatinib came into clinical practice, reports of resistance against the drug started
emerging with most

Living in Tooth Ville
Tooth Ville is a very enjoyable place; I would consider living in Tooth Ville if I was you. Tooth Ville is
an island that is a shape of a tooth, hence the name Tooth Ville . Tooth Ville has two site factors; Tooth
Ville has 3 natural harbours where food is shipped in from other countries or cities, also many people
come to Tooth Ville by water. Also since there is a lot of food being sent in from the other countries
and cities Tooth Ville has some natural resources, also Tooth Ville is surrounded by water we have a
lot of fresh water. All we have to do is filter it and we have our fresh water. As for Tooth Ville s
situation factor, Tooth Ville has markets that are usually full since they are really close to residential
areas. And we have a lot of roads and highways that connect everything, Tooth Ville even has 2
bridges that connect to the mini islands around Tooth Ville.
You could say that Tooth Ville is kind of like a suburban area; Tooth Ville has a lot of natural
resources so we are not like rural areas. We also don t have that much apartment building like they do
in urban areas, Tooth Ville isn t really busy that much maybe only twice in a week. Tooth Ville has
different kinds of houses; we have detached houses near the north west of Tooth Ville, there are
apartment buildings near the east of Tooth Ville, and some townhouses near the north of Tooth Ville
surrounding a park. Tooth Ville has one main highway that connects to the roads which connects to

Michelangelo s Last Judgement Analysis
Michelangelo s Last Judgement is a depiction of the second coming of Christ and captures the
moment when God judges all human beings. With over 300 nude figures in the fresco, there was a lot
of controversy. Many of those who opposed the work were those who believed it to be something that
belonged in a bath house rather than a church because of the images being shown. One of the most
prominent features of the fresco is that all the figures have a very muscular physique, which was what
Michelangelo was most known for. Although the work faced an extreme amount of criticism during
the time, it now receives high praises and is one of the most notable pieces of art in the world. In this
fresco Michelangelo is capturing the force and triumph of the most feared moments in the future,
while retaining the purity and power of nature by representing all of humanity as nude and muscular.
One of the Last Judgment s most prominent detail that has caused debate since it was first made was
the fact that all the figures depicted were nude. Nudity was an immense issue during the time
especially for those supportive of the Catholic churches counter reformation. One of those people is
Biagio da Cesena who is noted in Schlitt s text as saying that the excessive number and shameful
representation of the nudes made it better suited to a bath house or tavern than to the honored place it
occupied. Michelangelo was so committed to making every person in the Sistine Chapel naked, which

A Child s Psychological And Social Development
This study looks upon those who move around a lot, with children, because of their jobs. Specifically,
how moving around an excessive amount, and absentee of parents, affect how children develop. Jobs
that typically require moving are military, doctors without borders, missionaries, aid workers,
traveling journalist/photographer, and much more. The Smith family has been traveling around,
primarily, the United States, for quite some time. The Smith family occupations are both government
field agents. The family consists of Mr. Mrs. Smith, and their two children, one of them being their

Another milestone in adolescents is finding their identity. According to Erik Erikson, he says that there
are eight total stages humans go through, each one corresponding with a particular time/age in a
human s life, and each having a psychological crisis. During the time of adolescents, it is a search for
their identity or end up in a state of role confusion. Furthered by Kail and Cavanaugh (2016), to
develop identity, it is facilitated through parental discussion and encouragement. Through this
discussion and encouragement, the child will have a better grasp of who they are, thus being able to
make tough decisions and able to handle a variety of situations, that they know will be the best route
for them. Their identity development also affects their career and interpersonal relationship
development.
Since Fern s parents are more focused on their work, rather than their children, she is once again,
unable to communicate with them about her sense of self, or about things in general. Fern is not
encouraged nor encouraged to explore her different self s. Fern would thus be unable to determine if
the sense of self she currently has been exploring, is the right one for her. She would also likely, have
difficulties communicating with other people, older, younger, and those who are of the same

Switzerland Is A Federalist State, Where The Power Is Divided
Switzerland is a federalist state, where the power is divided between the three levels: the
Confederation, the cantons, and the communes. The way Switzerland handles matters is through the
principle of subsidiarity, where a smaller branch of the government can handle issues and solve them,
instead of having the more powerful branch of government handle those issues. In Switzerland, the
people hold the most power, which allows the people to vote on the country s issues and voice their
opinions to each of the individual parts of the political systems. The confederation, the highest of the

Analysis Of The Moment By Alain De Botton
When presented with rich perspectives of landscapes, individuals can develop a heightened receptivity
to their milieu, fostering their ability to gain an appreciation for the beauty that encompasses the
human experience. Through their engaging representations of real landscapes, composers can instill
optimism into the psyche of responders, allowing them to surmount the trivialities of the detached
consumer society. Alain De Botton s intricately structured travel memoir, Art of Travel, and Margaret
Atwood s poem, The Moment, conceptualise the resonance of such landscapes through a unique and
engaging form, allowing responders to cultivate an amplified admiration for their own existence.
In coalescing a variety of rich anecdotal and philosophical perspectives, De Botton facilitates a sense
of gratitude for the minute aspects of our accustomed landscapes. Through pathetic fallacy,
Continuous rain, confused gusts , the composer parallels his cynicism with the confused nature of the
physical landscape, ironically elucidating the notion that humans, narcissistically, impose their
pessimism on their habituated environments. De Botton s rich, unorthodox selection of imagery allows
him to subvert this notion, instead intimating that we must unearth the phenomena of mundane
landscapes, such as Hoppers Gas Station , to progress in the anomaly that is life. The cyclical ending
of the novel reiterates this notion, with an inclusive pronoun, We have become habituated and

Mackie s Theory Of Moral Skepticism
Moral skepticism is defined as the denial of objective moral standards is correct, and that morality
therefore lacks any real authority (Shafer Landau). The concept of objectivity plays a part in the
theory of moral standards. Objectivity is used in the sense that a subject exists without its perception,
and that one can come to the same conclusion as everyone else given the same sources/information.
An object is in existence despite of any opinions or matters, which is why this principle is closely
associated with being reality and truth. Philosopher Mackie has a specific opinion on the ethical
theory called subjectivism or moral skepticism that discusses the falsehood of moral claims. Mackie
developed the principle of subjectivism, which states that morals claims do not exist. There is nothing

Relativity is used to discuss that moral codes are diverse and differ from societies. This argument
starts with the view that moral opinions vary among many people. Since there is not a universal
agreement on values, then values can t be objective. He uses relativity in response to cultural
relativism and states that individuals and groups don t come to their values and reflect way of life;
people practice their way of life and then come to their values. Different morals come from different
ways of life instead of having different views on moral beliefs. With this being said, if objective
values aren t the reason for moral beliefs, then there is no reason to believe in ethical claims. The
argument of queerness can take form being metaphysical. The metaphysical concept states that if there
is such a thing of objective values, they wouldn t be like anything else. If these values were to exist,
they would be really queer and unusual. If objective values did occur, one would need a unique, moral
sense, but ultimately objective values can t exist since they can t be

Worn Path Symbolism
In the short story A Worn Path, by Eudora Welty, Phoenix Jackson is a small old lady that is
overcoming the obstacles of life. She is figuring out that life has many different encounters to
overcome. Welty describes the physical and emotional encounters Jackson meets on her journey to
town and life. Welty describes how the character Jackson is a courageous woman that endures many
things through life, Welty also uses symbolism to show the true challenges that Jackson faces. Welty
uses symbols of nature numerous of times throughout the story.
First off, Phoenix Jackson is an old Negro woman, who faces the obstacles of life. She has troubles on
her path through town and life. She begins her path through the pinewoods. The path is like a
microcosm of a person s whole life. Sometimes things can be easy, and sometimes things can be hard.
Phoenix runs into obstacles which are harder than other. Life has many elements; some many be
dangerous, surprising, beautiful, and confusing. Phoenix Jackson faces some problems with her
memory. Up through pines, she said at length. Now down through the oaks. (Welty A Worn Path ).
Through the story Welty uses the trees as a symbol of wisdom, strength, and endurance. The trees help
to tie the idea of the cycle of life and death. The cones dropped as light as feathers. (Welty A Worn
Path ). Sometimes through life things begin to fall down and sometimes things begin to rebuild itself

Abstract
To summarize the demands of speech language pathologists treating individuals with right hemisphere
brain damage, Margaret Blake,Tobi Frymark, and Rebecca Venedictovb conducted a review of the
current literature available concerning communication treatments for these clients. A review of their
study highlights specific areas needed for further research as well as important considerations that

The Rise And Fall Of Troy Maxon
The Rise and Fall of Troy Maxon: An Analysis of August Wilson s play Fences In Fences, August
Wilson, the playwright, provides a believable and powerful examination of the African American
experience in the late 1950 s. It provides an apt portrayal of the mentality of African American men
going into the civil rights movement, as well as a well developed account of the friction that occurs
between a father and a son, and a husband and wife in the face of conflict. According to Wilson, his
play provides Caucasians with a view into an African Americans life to find similarities to their own
(Kennedy and Gioia 1883). Not only did Wilson accomplish this, but also provided a representation of
interfamily relationships that occurs in many cultures. For instance, Katz maintains that the father son
relationship contains ... inherent seeds of conflict (Katz). The relationship between Cory and Troy
mirrors the conflict between many young men and their fathers as they attempt to create their identity
and independence while the fathers are still attempting to shape their future based on their
experiences, creating conflict that transcends differences in race and culture. Similarly, the issue of
infidelity in a marriage is another issue that is common in a multitude of cultures (Hartnett), and
addressed in this play through Bono s accusations toward Troy, and Troy s subsequent admission to
Rose that he had an affair resulting in a child. Wilson puts the most effort into developing

The History of the Hudson Bay Company
Fur trading started between the Europeans along with the Aboriginals when the most valuable beaver
pelts was a substituted for metal and clothing goods such as iron knives and axis, copper kettles,
blankets and trinkets. The beaver pelts were well desired by the Europeans for the reason that using
this fur for headgear provided an elegant way to keep dry. However these pelts were for fashion, as
men and women could be instantly noted within the social hierarchy by according to their beaver hats.
It was so valuable that the sand on the floor was filtered to save every hair that has fallen off. For the
Europeans, captivating advantages of the rich furs from the Indians in the New World was a major
factor in generating handsome profits, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the two adventurers arrived back to Quebec, they discovered something that wasn t on their
mind. This first attempt on escalating their fur trade enterprise was shattered As their first struggle, the
governor denied the men permission to continue their exploration, mainly frightened that the voyage
would shift the focus away from the St. Lawrence. In doing so the governor of New France, Marquis d
Argenson, seized 90% of the furs as taxes and fines! The punishment was activated because the two
men had violated the law for fur trading without a license. Not only did the confiscation of their pelts
were taken place, but they even jailed des Groseilliers! The anger was felt by the gentlemen and once
Groseilliers was freed, the two left the colony. During the next three years the two men tried their best
at persuading Boston clients to fund voyages to Hudson Bay. Their luck finally approached when their
idea of rising demand for furs into Hudson Bay attracted the attention of Colonel George Cartwright.
Cartwright was in New England to extract taxes from the new colony when he heard this opportunity
from Groseilliers and Radisson. He urged the two gentlemen to travel with him to England to seek
sponsorship. The coureur de bois heard many tales that the Cree nation (west of Lake Superior) had
valuable rich furs and they knew the best way to get these

Body Image Pressure
Today, a large majority of women will admit to being dissatisfied with the way their body looks. This
is because of a thing called body image. Body image is the way one thinks their body should look, and
how they think others see it. This has become a major issue essentially because of the media. The
mainstream media has an impact on body image because they exploit women with what most
individuals would consider the perfect body, usually for advertising purposes. Since the media has a
tendency to only show women with one specific body type, this makes other women feel pressured to
look that way. Women get the impression that if they don t have a flawless body, then they are not
beautiful. Also, social media specifically has contributed to the ... Show more content on

Negative thoughts about one s body can be found in girls as early as six years old. Even girls at this
young of an age have reportedly wanted to look sexy. For many adolescent girls, they have always
been exposed to the media. It is a part of their lifestyle. Ultimately, what they see through the media, is
what they believe to be true. When they see the media promoting the perfect body, they truly believe
that is how their body is supposed to look. Since young people spend more time on social media, they
are more inclined to seeing images of the ideal body every single day. Through social media, teen girls
get attention, or praised on their appearances through likes and comments. 27 percent feel stressed out
about how they look when they post pictures. 22 percent feel badly about themselves when nobody
comments on or likes the photos they post (Naylor). The worst possible outcome due to body image
dissatisfaction in adolescent girls is for one to develop an eating disorder. Anorexia is an eating
disorder in which one will starve themselves in order to lose weight, or not gain any. Bulimia, is an
eating disorder where one will binge eat, and then purge everything they have ate. One more eating
disorder that many people don t recognize as one, because honestly it doesn t make sense is binge
eating in which one will eat large amounts of food and won t be able to stop themselves. All of which
can be very life threatening. In the United States, the discrepancy between the extraordinarily thin
body type promoted in the media and the reality of average women s bodies has been implicated in the
steady rise of eating disorders, especially among adolescents. Experts believe that today, more than ten
million women and girls suffer from anorexia, bulimia, or related illnesses, with the onset of such
problems occurring in patients of younger and younger ages (Balarro and Wagner). Since the body

The Importance Of The Freedom Of Religion
As citizens of the United States, we have certain unalienable rights that were set by the framers of our
country back when our nation s government was just forming. Among these is the First Amendment to
the Constitution that includes the freedom of religion for all who reside in and call this country their
own. The First Amendment is meant to give rights to the people that the government cannot limit or
take away. These rights serve to protect and help us in times of need, and the freedom of religion that
the United States provides has given security to members of all religious backgrounds coming from
other countries where this freedom is not among the rights given to their people. People all over the
world have sought refuge in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other more extreme side of things, religious persecution can be extremely fatal, leading to loss
of life over differing beliefs and attitudes. Just look at today s political climate. ISIS, an extremist
radical group known for being religiously charged, takes credit for virtually every act of mass violence
across the world. This has caused people all over the world to be afraid of Muslims even though their
religion really has nothing to do with these acts of violence. People have made the religion out to be
the problem when that isn t the issue. We walk around the United States terrified today of people of
Middle Eastern descent because we ve associated them and their religion with terrorism. We need to
be reminded that a person s race and religion does not make them a terrorist. Their actions make them
a terrorist. A white, Catholic American could just as easily cause mass terror as anyone other person in
this world, but we neglect to accept that fact because of the fear that has been instilled in us by groups
like ISIS who have completely ruined an entire religion and race s reputation. The freedom of religion
is extremely important because it gives us the ability to think for ourselves and to believe in something
existential. Without a faith or something to hold onto, what do we really have? Even those who
believe in pure science have something to make sense of the world. And those who say they believe in
nothing must still

Challenges Of Esperanza Rising, By US
Esperanza´s Challenges Will Saban Being an immigrant you have to leave your old life behind. The
main character is Esperanza Ortega from the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan. Esperanza
was a wealthy land owners daughter who lived in Mexico. Her family had to move to America
because of her Papa s death. They had to become a servant herself instead of having servants.
Although Esperanza faced many challenges as an immigrant, her hardest ones were when Esperanza
did not know how to do daily chores because she had always had servants and that the dust storms
caused Mama to become sick with Valley Fever. My first challenge is about when Esperanza could not
do daily chores because she had always had servants. On page 118, Miguel said, ¨ You hold the broom
like this. One hand here and the other here. Then you push like this, or pull it toward you like this.
Here you try.¨ Miguel is showing Esperanza how to hold a broom and how to sweep, because she has
never had to do chores because she had always had servants to do all of her chores. Now she has to
work. Esperanza now doesn t have servants and can work as well as anybody else because she has
persevered and learned how to start over. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the fields for Mama. Esperanza is also scared that Mama will not survive because Valley Fever is a
really bad sickness. At the end Mama got to come home, but while Mama was in the hospital
Esperanza had to persevere to get enough money to pay for the hospital bills to save up to get

  • 3. Comparing Grendel And Beowulf After reading the classic Anglo Saxon tale, Beowulf, readers find themselves engrossed in the character of Grendel. This interest led to John Gardner s creation of Grendel, a novel that tells Grendel s side of the story and gives readers a deeper understanding of the character s personality and morals. While the two stories use the same characters, they are still extremely different. Beowulf s predictable narrative and basic language make the story very easy to comprehend, while Grendel is filled with complex phrasing and intricate characters that require intense analyzation to decipher. The analyzation required to truly understand Grendel displays the varying audiences the stories were written for. Grendel and Beowulf also use completely different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theme coming of age is included in both compositions. Throughout Grendel, Grendel struggles to come to terms with who he is and frequently straddles the border between adulthood and childhood. For example, after getting stuck in a tree, Grendel cries out for his mother and then moments later contemplates the meaning of life: The king snatched an ax from the man beside him and, without any warning, he hurled it at me... I bellowed for my mother...I tried to tell her that happened, all that I d come to understand: the meaningless objectiveness of the world... (Gardner 27 28). This bouncing back and forth between a child s mindset and an adult s shows Grendel s gradual coming of age. Beowulf s main character, Beowulf, is forced to endure many quests that challenge him not only physically, but mentally forcing him to come of age as well. Beowulf has to question many of the things he thought he knew, resulting in him growing wiser, much like Grendel. For example, during his fight with Grendel, Beowulf first says he does not want the help of his Thanes, but when Grendel starts to beat him, his Thanes are forced to step in (Beowulf Lines 80 100). This teaches Beowulf that he needs to accept help in the end and does not always have to accomplish things on his own, something he uses to his advantage in later battles. Altogether, both Grendel and Beowulf ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Four Aspects Of The Four Elements Of Classical Conditioning Classical Conditioning is the repeated use of stimuli in combination with a repeated significant psychological event to train the one being conditioned to anticipate the event in response to the stimuli. The most basic example of this type of conditioning is train an animal to expect treats by making use of their sense of sound and blowing a whistle or ringing a bell just before you give them a treat each time. This will train the animal to associate the sound of the whistle or bell with the reception of the forthcoming treat, and it will begin to salivate in anticipation of getting the treat whenever it hears the sound. There are four elements of classical conditioning. These elements of classical conditioning include unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned response. These four elements make up the classical conditioning procedure. An unconditioned stimulus in an experiment is a stimulus that elicits a response from the subject of the experiment without any previous conditioning. This can be anything that elicits an instinctual response that an organism might have, such as the treat that the animal salivates over as described in the experiment in paragraph one. An unconditioned response in any response regarding an unconditioned stimulus. In the case stated in paragraph one, the unconditioned response would be the salivating of the animal in anticipation of the treat. A conditioned stimulus is a stimulus that would have no ... I choose John Napier because I his invention of logarithms was one of the many math inventions that I don t find annoying to do. I wasn t inspired by him or his creation, but it feels like what he created was worth taking up my time to write about him. Therefore, this paper will be about John Napier s early life, his contributions and accomplishments, theology, and his legacy. John Napier was born February 1st, 1550 and was born into a wealthy family, so he had a head start in his education thanks to private tutors. He was an intelligent child and went to the University of St. Andrews at the age of thirteen. There is no indication that he graduated but it is shown that he had study abroad. He went to Europe to study in Paris and Italy to which he returned home in 1571. When he returned he married a woman named Elizabeth Stirling in 1573 and had two kids. • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The End Of The... Reconstruction began early in 1865 after the end of the civil war when the South was undergoing political, social and economic upheavals (Foner 15). The South embraced Union methods of total wars that led to damage to their land and crops. As a result, many people died while others were captured as slaves due to the huge drought and inflation facing their state, while their masters fled oncoming unions. From these losses, policymakers by 1865 in Washington had no other choice rather than reconstruction. Reconstruction involved several initiatives including abolishment and transformation of the Southern society, recovering the Southern Unions and most importantly the enactment of an assimilation legislation program that would aid in favoring the freed blacks into the American social and economic system. President Lincoln had pardoned reconstruction of the South long before in1863 two years before the war ended (Kennedy and Cohen 44). This was known as the ten percent plan that supported one of the initiatives. This plan allowed the Southern state to be assimilated to the union after every ten percent of the population. Later in the year 1865 president Lincoln got assassinated and Andrew Johnson succeeded him. President Johnson carried on with the ten percent plan. Both presidents shared a similar interest during their reign which was to abolish slavery before joining the union. Dubliners and The Living Dead In his work The Dead, James Joyce utilizes his character Michael Furey, Gretta Conroy s deceased love from her youth, as an apparent symbol of how the dead have a steadfast and continuous power over the living. The dominant power which Michael maintains over the protagonist, Gabriel Conroy, is that Gabriel is faced with the intense question of whether his wife, Gretta Conroy, loves him and whether he honestly loves her. Joyce provides substantial information to persuade one to believe that Gabriel does truly love his wife. Even though it is made evident to the reader that Gabriel possesses such devotion and adoration for Gretta, Michael diverts Gabriel s confidence in his love, causing Gabriel ... He had never felt like that himself towards any woman, but he knew that such a feeling must be love (Joyce 182). Gabriel is perplexed as to why, if Gretta loves him so much, she still possesses memories of her first love. He also wonders why this important detail of Gretta s life was not brought to his attention at an earlier point. Gabriel s recognition that he has been excluded from what he believes to be the deepest experience of Gretta s life now becomes the deepest experience of his life. Gretta s reaction to his questions about her first love causes Gabriel to become overwhelmed by Michael Furey s control over him. Gabriel by his ideas, his tastes, and his sensitivities has been isolated from others but always found solace in his self esteem. Michael Furey has destroyed this. The tears gathered more thickly in his eyes and in the particular darkness he imagined he saw a young man standing under a dripping tree (Joyce 182). Though Michael is certainly dead in body, he lives on in the memories of both Gretta and Gabriel, and his influence can in no way be obliterated. Joyce depicts the power Michael has over Gabriel, A vague terror seized Gabriel... as if... some impalpable and vindictive being was coming against him, gathering forces in its vague world (Joyce ... Word Count: Table of Contents Introduction 3 External Conflicts 4 Internal Conflicts 4 Military Capabilities 4 Conclusion 4 Works Cited 7 Introduction The Falklands War, or La Guerra de Las Malvinas in Spanish, also referred to as The South Atlantic War. It was a small, but furiously loud conflict between two countries across different ends of the globe, both fighting for a few small islands in which most of the population farm sheep for a living. Before going any deeper into the essay, the selected topic is personally a very difficult area to delve into, as my Argentine background has always made me see this conflict differently. This is from the prolonged exposure to Argentine culture, which the Falkland War greatly affected, including my family and friend s history to the war, and events around it, which is also why I chose it. The history of the Islands has already had a long history before the war, in 1690 a British sailor John Strong discovers the islands, half a decade later, and they claim the Islands as a British Colony. The wide employment of informal language in modern day civilization also allows for an individual s association with their cultures identity and values to be increased dramatically; which is especially vital in countries like Australia. This is clearly evident through a wide use of colloquialisms and slang lexemes that contribute to the social identity of Australia. For example lexemes such as mate and g day are widely present in the Australian English vernacular and these relate wholly to the sense of solidarity and openness that is intricate to Australian culture. This is evident through the word mate which has been utilised instead of more formal lexemes such as sir or madam , which were more popular in the past as a way of showing another person that they are friends or that they are considered important, which clearly respects their positive face needs. The white shelves was filled with skinny books placed in our kitchen (at the time my family lived in a small apartment, so the entrance near the kitchen was the only place to put it). At the time, I picked books of the bottom shelf and try to read the whole stack. I absolutely loved reading when I was younger. Yet somehow, whether or not it was because I was forced to read in school, or over a gradual slump my passion died out. Nevertheless, my younger self was infatuated with reading, and it might as well be worth sharing. Since kindergarten the biggest push over the course of the year was to read, and being the young, ... That was the case for some of seventh grade, but two books I read in English class stood out to me. The substantial increase in the transition of FDA approvals from standard chemotherapeutics to targeted therapies is also equally astounding (Martino et al., 2015). The traditional chemotherapeutic agents are simply not being developed with the same frequency by drug companies any more. While chemotherapeutics have had a real impact and in some diseases a dramatic impact, for most common solid tumours, these impacts have been minimal. What was remarkable about this was that 95% of patients with CML had this chromosomal abnormality (ROWLEY, 1973). Subsequent research showed that in a CML cancer cell, the fusion protein BRC ABL functions as a constitutively activated intracellular tyrosine kinase that binds to ATP and transfers a phosphate group to its target substrate protein. The target substrate protein then becomes phosphorylated and progresses to stimulate cell growth of the leukaemia cells (Lugo et al., 1990). The drug, Gleevac mimics ATP so it binds to the site within the BRC ABL that s normally bound by ATP, preventing it from binding. It thereby prevents phosphorylation of the substrate target protein and prevents cancer cell growth (Deininger, Buchdunger and Druker, 2005). Based on the 1998 2000 clinical studies, Imatinib yielded high response rates with minimal toxicity in all phases of CML and consequently received FDA approval in 2001 (Druker et al., 2001) (O Brien et al., 2003) (Druker et al., 2001) (Hahn, 2003). With over 300 nude figures in the fresco, there was a lot of controversy. Many of those who opposed the work were those who believed it to be something that belonged in a bath house rather than a church because of the images being shown. One of the most prominent features of the fresco is that all the figures have a very muscular physique, which was what Michelangelo was most known for. Although the work faced an extreme amount of criticism during the time, it now receives high praises and is one of the most notable pieces of art in the world. In this fresco Michelangelo is capturing the force and triumph of the most feared moments in the future, while retaining the purity and power of nature by representing all of humanity as nude and muscular. One of the Last Judgment s most prominent detail that has caused debate since it was first made was the fact that all the figures depicted were nude. Nudity was an immense issue during the time especially for those supportive of the Catholic churches counter reformation. One of those people is Biagio da Cesena who is noted in Schlitt s text as saying that the excessive number and shameful representation of the nudes made it better suited to a bath house or tavern than to the honored place it occupied. • 30. Analysis Of The Moment By Alain De Botton When presented with rich perspectives of landscapes, individuals can develop a heightened receptivity to their milieu, fostering their ability to gain an appreciation for the beauty that encompasses the human experience. Through their engaging representations of real landscapes, composers can instill optimism into the psyche of responders, allowing them to surmount the trivialities of the detached consumer society. Alain De Botton s intricately structured travel memoir, Art of Travel, and Margaret Atwood s poem, The Moment, conceptualise the resonance of such landscapes through a unique and engaging form, allowing responders to cultivate an amplified admiration for their own existence. In coalescing a variety of rich anecdotal and philosophical perspectives, De Botton facilitates a sense of gratitude for the minute aspects of our accustomed landscapes. Through pathetic fallacy, Continuous rain, confused gusts , the composer parallels his cynicism with the confused nature of the physical landscape, ironically elucidating the notion that humans, narcissistically, impose their pessimism on their habituated environments. De Botton s rich, unorthodox selection of imagery allows him to subvert this notion, instead intimating that we must unearth the phenomena of mundane landscapes, such as Hoppers Gas Station , to progress in the anomaly that is life. The cyclical ending of the novel reiterates this notion, with an inclusive pronoun, We have become habituated and therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept of objectivity plays a part in the theory of moral standards. Objectivity is used in the sense that a subject exists without its perception, and that one can come to the same conclusion as everyone else given the same sources/information. An object is in existence despite of any opinions or matters, which is why this principle is closely associated with being reality and truth. Not only did Wilson accomplish this, but also provided a representation of interfamily relationships that occurs in many cultures. For instance, Katz maintains that the father son relationship contains ... inherent seeds of conflict (Katz). The relationship between Cory and Troy mirrors the conflict between many young men and their fathers as they attempt to create their identity and independence while the fathers are still attempting to shape their future based on their experiences, creating conflict that transcends differences in race and culture. Similarly, the issue of infidelity in a marriage is another issue that is common in a multitude of cultures (Hartnett), and addressed in this play through Bono s accusations toward Troy, and Troy s subsequent admission to Rose that he had an affair resulting in a child. She had no idea she was going to be the chosen one just as Moses did not. Moses was lost too just like she was before God helped him find his way. Jane Shore uses diction, tone, and imagery in order to convey the main idea. The author uses diction throughout the poem to help the reader better understand how the speaker is feeling. • 43. Body Image Pressure Today, a large majority of women will admit to being dissatisfied with the way their body looks. This is because of a thing called body image. Body image is the way one thinks their body should look, and how they think others see it. This has become a major issue essentially because of the media. The mainstream media has an impact on body image because they exploit women with what most individuals would consider the perfect body, usually for advertising purposes. Since the media has a tendency to only show women with one specific body type, this makes other women feel pressured to look that way. Women get the impression that if they don t have a flawless body, then they are not beautiful. Also, social media specifically has contributed to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Negative thoughts about one s body can be found in girls as early as six years old. Even girls at this young of an age have reportedly wanted to look sexy. For many adolescent girls, they have always been exposed to the media. It is a part of their lifestyle. Ultimately, what they see through the media, is what they believe to be true. When they see the media promoting the perfect body, they truly believe that is how their body is supposed to look. Since young people spend more time on social media, they are more inclined to seeing images of the ideal body every single day. Through social media, teen girls get attention, or praised on their appearances through likes and comments. 27 percent feel stressed out about how they look when they post pictures. 22 percent feel badly about themselves when nobody comments on or likes the photos they post (Naylor). The worst possible outcome due to body image dissatisfaction in adolescent girls is for one to develop an eating disorder. Anorexia is an eating disorder in which one will starve themselves in order to lose weight, or not gain any. Bulimia, is an eating disorder where one will binge eat, and then purge everything they have ate. One more eating disorder that many people don t recognize as one, because honestly it doesn t make sense is binge eating in which one will eat large amounts of food and won t be able to stop themselves. All of which can be very life threatening. In the United States, the discrepancy between the extraordinarily thin body type promoted in the media and the reality of average women s bodies has been implicated in the steady rise of eating disorders, especially among adolescents. Experts believe that today, more than ten million women and girls suffer from anorexia, bulimia, or related illnesses, with the onset of such problems occurring in patients of younger and younger ages (Balarro and Wagner). The Importance Of The Freedom Of Religion As citizens of the United States, we have certain unalienable rights that were set by the framers of our country back when our nation s government was just forming. Among these is the First Amendment to the Constitution that includes the freedom of religion for all who reside in and call this country their own. The First Amendment is meant to give rights to the people that the government cannot limit or take away. On the other more extreme side of things, religious persecution can be extremely fatal, leading to loss of life over differing beliefs and attitudes. Just look at today s political climate. ISIS, an extremist radical group known for being religiously charged, takes credit for virtually every act of mass violence across the world. This has caused people all over the world to be afraid of Muslims even though their religion really has nothing to do with these acts of violence. People have made the religion out to be the problem when that isn t the issue. We walk around the United States terrified today of people of Middle Eastern descent because we ve associated them and their religion with terrorism. We need to be reminded that a person s race and religion does not make them a terrorist. Their actions make them a terrorist. A white, Catholic American could just as easily cause mass terror as anyone other person in this world, but we neglect to accept that fact because of the fear that has been instilled in us by groups like ISIS who have completely ruined an entire religion and race s reputation. The freedom of religion is extremely important because it gives us the ability to think for ourselves and to believe in something existential. Without a faith or something to hold onto, what do we really have? Even those who believe in pure science have something to make sense of the world. And those who say they believe in nothing must still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
