Analysis Of Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Understanding the sources for a particular work is an important task for literary critics, because it
ultimately leads to a better understanding and appreciation of the work itself. Sometimes
similarities are so weak as to strain the credulity of theories propounding influence. At other times,
the ties are so strong that influence is near certain. However, regardless of the strength of such ties,
the alterations made to an original source are very potent cues as to authorial intention. In
composing The Canterbury Tales, there is a broad diversity of tales told by a wide range of
narrators. This indicates that Chaucer likely used a wide variety of sources. The alterations
made by Chaucer to the source material for the Clerk s Tale, including Boccaccio s Decameron
X, or The Story of Griselda, indicate Chaucer s motive to examine issues such as marriage as
was found in Renaissance Italy, and to explore the state of mind of the Marquis, as well as
Griselda. Chaucer not only layers psychological depth to Boccaccio s tale, but also adds to its
traditional veneration of the obedient and tractable wife a genuine admiration for women in general.
Much critical ink has been spilled contesting the power of influence Boccaccio s work in the
Decameron had over Chaucer in writing The Canterbury Tales. Indeed, though the two works
diverge in both plot and subject, they also possess strong similarities. These convergences have led
readers to presume that Chaucer engaged in heavy

Margaret Atwood Strengths And Weaknesses
Weaknesses: He won t ever be able to decapitate someone s head off with an axe, though
seriously he isn t made for being in melee combat. While he ironically is a tad durable than what
you would expect for a mage, Jared is nonetheless a dedicated supporting character who resists
direct combat unless around his allies. He is vulnerable to electric magic, (in fact he has a
phobia of lighting,) as well as Earth magic. Also he can be tempted and corrupted into becoming
a dark mage and/or becoming evil. School: Jared was believed to been a part of a clergy and
therefore he comprehends some light healing spells. He is known to have graduated a mage school
in his hometown. Occupation: Supporting character (in both aspects of the term.) Alignment:
Lawful good, neutral good, (can become lawful evil if tempted.) Bio: Jared grew up in a small
town called Peachton. This humble and rural village was known for having few members in it and

He seemed to have been successful in these attempts as he learned multiple types of magic, but

capabilities. However he must be weary as his curious and ponderous nature might lead him
down the road to darkness if he s not careful. Appearance: Jared is a somewhat short, yet
somewhat muscular male. He is known to possess chestnut brown hair that is curly and jade
green eyes that can sometimes be seen as blue on the right light. He usually is wears a simple

Critical Examination of the Idle No More Movement
In October of 2012, Bill C 45 was introduced into Ottawa by the Harper government.
The bill is a 457 page document, containing over 64 amendments to a multitude of acts and
regulations, including notable revisions to the Indian Act, the Navigable Waters Protection Act and
the Environment Assessment Act. Bill C 45, later renamed the Jobs and Growth Act, was passed
through government with minimal consultation from the Indigenous peoples of Canada, effectively
rendering the peoples voice silent and proving the neglect and mistreatment of the Indigenous
peoples by the government of Canada.
Shortly after these amendments were introduced, four women from Saskatchewan began
communicating via social media to discuss Bill C 45. The main concern these women had were if
the bill was going to further oppress Indigenous rights and destroy environmental lands across
Canada. A movement was formed in an attempt to stop the government from introducing more
legislation that will erode Indigenous rights. On November 10, 2012, an event was organized to
raise awareness regarding this bill. The movement was to be known as the Idle No More movement.
This paper will critically examine and analyze the Idle No More movement and Bill C 45 from
three distinct known theoretical political discourses Neoliberal Capitalism, Decolonizing Eco
Anarchism and Social Liberal Feminism and from perspective that I hold, an Eco Radical Feminist.
When analyzing this movement from a neoliberal capitalistic

The Plague of Athens Essay
The plague of Athens
The Athenian plague was an epidemic that began in the summer of 430 B.C. in Athens a year
after the Peloponnesian war in 431 B.C. It was supposed that the plague was a result of excess
number of Athenians within the city walls also known as the long walls a military strategy by
Pericles which consisted of building walls that connected the city to its port . The surplus of
Athenians led to a shortage of food, water, an absence of sewage systems, and other important
factors were said to have brought about the plague. It first appeared in the south of Egypt, Ethiopia,
Libya, and later on in the Persian Empire, and Rome before arriving in Athens . The disease
attacked the population of Piraeus and then travelled to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It left the population time to live in crime as they awaited death. The once valued Athenian
morals also ceased to existed in that period. The population did not bother to accomplish any of
the morally accepted laws. Meaning that since no one would ever be there to acknowledge it or
they could ever gain benefits for it, it was normal for some not to complete any. For them, it was
considered a waste of time to be morally just because they all would perish. The epidemic left the
Athenians incapable of caring for their families who were infected. In Thucydides eyes, the most
immoral act of all was the fact that they were left to die by loved ones. The plague was highly
contagious; the infected showed signs of ineffectual retching followed, producing violent spasms,
[...]externally the body was not very hot to the touch, nor pale in its appearance, but reddish, livid,
and [breaking] out into small pustules and ulcers. But internally it burned so that the patient could
not bear to have on him clothing [...] . Due to their symptoms, family members forgot all about
their traditionnal obligations and abandoned their families and friends. They basically abandoned
all of there loved ones since they were potential threats to their lives. Hence, they could only
survive if they had no contact with their loved ones or friends. The dead and infected were therefore
voluntarily neglected by their families. Consequently, the bodies

The Problem of Human Existence
The Problem of Human Existence Human beings live, and they die. The scary part is death while
the amazing part is living. A great mystery that surrounds human existence is death and after
death. What is existence? Is there any purpose for existence? These are two major questions for
all human beings. A person can be here one minute, and the next minute they are dead. Every
person is always seeking answers to these questions, but no one has any answer that is considered
to be satisfactory enough ADDIN EN.CITE Vardanyan2011135(Vardanyan,

PCI Compliance Analysis
There are some people who still insist on paying the old fashioned way, with cash. If you purchase
anything using a credit card, you are most likely aware that thousands of cardholders have had their
data stolen by unethical hackers.
For this reason, there are standards, which businesses that offer credit card payment as an option
must follow. Consumers have the assurance that a business is working to protect their valuable
information by adhering to Payment Card Industry, PCI compliance mandates.
What is PCI Compliance?
All major credit card issuers must adhere to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI
DSS). This is a mandated compliance standard established by the Payment Card Industry Security
Council. This standard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A class 1 PCI compliance rating designates the largest entities, which process over 6 million Visa
or MasterCard transactions over a twelve month period. The classifications and steps required for
PCI compliance drops, as the number of transactions becomes less.
The lowest class level is 4 and is for e commerce businesses with less than 20,000 online purchases
registered and other businesses with less than a million accepted card payments. Small businesses
may be able to satisfy compliance requirements once per year, but most companies benefit from
applying these steps as warranted, part of an ongoing process.
В·Assess the Data System Businesses need to exercise caution will all credit card data. Nothing can
cost a business more profoundly than a breach of consumer financial security. Your business needs
to implement this step in a timely fashion when there is any indication of a potential vulnerability.
В·Remediation Your business needs to either employ an IT professional, or hire the services of one
to fix any vulnerability uncovered by the assessment step. An excellent preventive measure to help
ensure customer card security is erase cardholder information unless that data absolutely needed.
Do not keep consumer cardholder data out of convenience for your business operations; the practice
carries too many consequences if your system is unfortunately compromised. By implementing a
good PCI compliant remediation plan, you can remove a great

When it comes to taking out a loan, you should know they are not all the same. There are many
types of loans and the terms and conditions of a loan can vary greatly. Different types of loans
each have their own benefits and risks. The terms of a secured loan can be stricter than an unsecured
loan. One of the main differences between these two types of loans is how debt collection efforts are
handled in the event you default on your loan payments. Your debt repayment options may be
managed differently in a secured loan than an unsecured loan. In the event of an extended financial
hardship, you may not be eligible to have certain types of loans eliminated through bankruptcy.
Secured Loans
Most major loan purchases, such as your home or car, are called secured loans. They are called
secured loans because the debts acquired under this type of loan are secured against collateral. A
mortgage loan is considered a secured loan. In a mortgage loan, the lender has the right to repossess
the home if you default on your payments. Defaulting on

Michelangelo s Impact On Art
Michelangelo Buonarroti is one of the most famous sculptors, painters, architects, and poets during
the high renaissance. He is mostly known for his sculpture of David and his fresco (plaster)
painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo lived a very intriguing life and had a
huge impact on art as we see it today. Michelangelowas viewed as a patron of the Mannerism
movement. His work of art conveyed an alternate style to this era. What used to be a more
moderate style turned into a more humanistic style in which Michelangelo regularly delineated with

Medici was very impressed with his work, Michelangelo was invited to live and study with his
sons at Medici s palace. The people Michelangelo meet there heavily influenced him and his
many ideas about his art. (Sateren, Shelly. Michelangelo pg9) He studied human anatomy; he
learned how the body part fit together. He was also allowed to steady dead bodies at the hospital,
where then he learned where the muscles and veins are located, which helped him create lifelike
statues. In 1492, Lorenzo de Medici died. Michelangelo then decided to leave Florence shortly after
the lost. Many People had heard of him and his skills. Michelangelo was invited to Rome to
work, where there he was hired to carve a statue of the Greek god of wine, Bacchus. A church
official saw his amazing work and then hired him to carve a pieta . His work in Rome had made
him famous; many people wanted Michelangelo to do work for them. In 1501 he decided to
return to Florence, city officials hired him to carve a statue that a previous sculptor never
finished. The previous sculptor was working on carving a large Goliath. But Michelangelo
decided to carve a large David. Around that time many artist sculpted images of David after he

Feminism and the Power Struggle of Women in Ancient Greece...
Feminism and the power struggle of women in Ancient Greece
Women are a very prominent part of the Greek society. Their role has influenced and shaped the
Greek society to a very large extent. Women have been shown in many different lights in the
Greek works of Odyssey and Iliad which we have covered in our class. The works that I will be
citing in this essay, namely Homer s poems Odyssey and Iliad talk about many prominent women
such as Helen of Troy, Penelope and also many other Goddesses. Homer s poems talk about the
various traits of Greek women and portray their characteristics by describing their traits and the
events they were involved in. Through this essay, I would like to illustrate how women were

179, The Odyssey: The Story of Odysseus). Penelope is informed by the Queen of Ithaca that she
has to weave a shroud for her dead husband before she remarries. In order to escape remarrying,
Penelope cleverly kept weaving the same shroud that she weaved during the day, at night as well,
which made the weaving of the shroud a never ending activity.
Another such incident penned by Homer, is the famous bow stringing incident. Penelope s
husband Odysseus had a unique way of stringing his bow. When Penelope was swarmed by
suitors, she tested each one of them by asking them to string the bow the same way her husband
would. She was very confident that no one would be able to do that and believed in her husband s
unique ability.
I personally feel that Penelope s story is a great example of what kind of loyalty and faithfulness a
woman should have towards her husband. Human beings are social animals, and we all have
weaknesses; but overcoming these weaknesses is what makes our character stronger, and this is the
point of Penelope that I admire the most.
Unfortunately for Penelope, Odysseus was not as faithful as she was. On his long journey back
home, Odysseus comes in contact with the witch Calypso and the sea nymph Circe.
Although Calypso and Circe are shown to be villainous, there is no excuse for Odysseus s
infidelity with them. Calypso and Circe have special powers due to which Odysseus comes under

should be legalized.
I will also be researching as to why do some athletes use drugs, a brief history of drugs, different
types of drugs, reasons for using performance enhancing drugs and finishing with a summary. I am

A Article On Animal Eyes
This article is about different animal eyes. It presents different eyes and how they help that
particular animal survive and thrive in its environment. It has five different sections that are all
very different but tie into each other. It names several unique animals and has multiple photos to go
along with each section. Even just at first glance, this article is very eyecatching (no pun intended).
At the least, the photographs from this article could be used various ways in a classroom. You
could identify the animal each set of eyes belongs to and talk about the physical differences:
shape, color, position, and other physical features. The pictures could be cut out and then in half
to create a matching game. Just using the photographs, you could also compare our eyes to the
eyes of these animals. A point of view activity with these photos would be interesting and
engaging as well. Students could choose a set of animal eyes and write about what they are
looking at! Getting into the actual information that the article presents, it is broken down into
sections: eye position, eye size, eye protection, oddball eyes, and our eyes. Using these categories,
students could research and find other animals that fit into each. We could also discuss the
significance of each. Why does the size of some animal s eyes matter, why does the positioning of
animals eyes matter, why is the protection of the eyes important, etc. We could pretend we had eyes

The Importance Of Social Class, Race And Family Life
Race and class can play powerful roles in people s family experiences. Race is defined as a socially
constructed category of individuals who share common inborn biological traits (Newman 2009).
Class is defined as groups of people who share a similar position in society based on their wealth
and income (Newman 2009). Social classand race shape family lives in many ways, which in
return reproduces class and race inequalities. In Annette Lareau s study of families, she uses real
stories of real families to show important social patterns. All families want their children to be
happy, healthy, and grow. Social classes
make a difference in how parents go about meeting this
goal. In Annette Lareau book, Unequal Childhoods: Class, Race, and Family Life, she promotes
middle classparents as concerted cultivation. Middle class parents encourage their children s
talents, opinions, and skills. For example, engaging their children in organized activities and
closely monitoring children s experiences in school. According to Lareau, middle class children
gain an emerging sense of entitlement through this pattern of converted cultivation. This causes a
focus on children s individual development. There are signs that the middle class children gain
advantages from the experience of concerted cultivation. However, the working class and poor
children do not gain this advantage. A lot of the inequalities that are produced are in social classes.
According to Lareau, the middle class is

Decision of the court:

The Disadvantages Of Small Farming In The United States
Food that are high in sugar and fat are, in many ways addictive Nadine Burke. Framers depend on

many disadvantage of the small farms decreasing in the United States in our modern time.
Small farms has difficulty selling their products to bigger food companies. For example,
supermarket chain like Whole Foods or Walmart are not set up to do business with dozen of small

resulting from the loss of her family. Clinton McKelva is a Judge and the father of Laurel
McKelva. Laurel left the southern United States for the North and later returns home to see her
father before he dies. Being gone so long, Laurel s remembrance of her father is blurry. Laurel s
relationship with her dad is cold, and her last thoughts of him are of his optimistic attitude and not
introspective. Laurel s pain is followed, after Mr. McKelva s passing, by the discovery of her
father s library. She attempts to use the library, after his death, to relive some of her and her dad s
past through its contents (Gygax). An attempt to find evidence of the judge s past in his desk fails.
It becomes clear that her father s possessions have already been removed. Instead of finding
material pertaining to her father s past, Laurel comprehends there is nothing left except the books
on the shelves, which makes her reminisce over the sound of her dad reading aloud. Ironically, not
even this memory can bring the father

Admiral Grace Hopper
Admiral Grace Hopper was a computer scientist and the first woman Rear Admiral in the United
States Navy. Hopper invented the first compiler for a computer programming language, tackled the
original computer bug and helped program the 1944 Harvard Mark 1 computer. Her outspoken
support of machine independent programming languages led to the creation of COBOL, one of the
very first high level computer programming languages. Admiral Grace Hopper s quote, You manage
things, you lead people, still exists as a modern leadership mantra.

The Economic Globalization Of India
Economic Globalization has been sweeping across the nation since the end of WWII. Slowly but
surely all the nations across the world have been impacted by Economic Globalization. India for
example has been one of the countries that has been recently hit by the storm and India s economy
can be seen to still be shooting up. In my paper I will be discussing the Economic Globalizationof
India, the roots of the globalization to occur, the effects it had and the negative effects it had.
Effects such as foreign trade, economic growth and GDP. From the mid 90 s to current times India
is seeing the effects of globalization, bringing India into one of the top countries in the world in
terms of GDP being ranked at 10th in the world.
The economic globalization in India began in the 90 s with the economic growth being due too
advances in IT and business. One of the major forces of globalization in India has been in the
growth of outsourced IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services (1). The past few
years have seen more and more educated people due to India s low cost of labor but educated and
English speaking workforce. With economic globalization hitting India in the IT and BPO field it
has allowed companies to expand their operations to India to take advantage of their massive
growth opportunity. The ability for corporations to expand to India has enabled huge corporations
to open up markets in India allowing for great success. Notable examples of international companies

The Advantages Of Asexual And Sexual Devices
Both asexual and sexual reproduction results in offspring with [think of good topic sentence. . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .]. Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and
sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation.
Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction
occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular
organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are
bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life.
Amoeba is a single celled animal that catches food and moves about by extending fingerlike
projections of protoplasm. Asexual reproduction requires one parent, and the ... Show more content

One advantage of sexual reproduction is that it creates offspring with a high genetic variability.
This will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For
example, female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically
different. This will increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces
offspring that has the same genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms.
Another advantage of sexual reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding
can apply to sexually produced organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen
to mate, which produces more desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective
breeding is corn. Corn used to be much smaller, and had fewer rows of kernels, however, farmers
saved kernels from good plants and planted them to create more desirable plants like corn, leading
better agriculture. Asexual organisms don t reproduce sexually, so they can t go through selective

The Core Qualities of Taylorism Essay
Taylorism refers to a systematic way of business decision making based on the on the qualitative
research of data and testing. Frederick Winslow Taylor was the one who introduced scientific
management, which reformed the production line entirely. No one can stop admiring his
contribution regardless of whether he believed in Taylorism or not. Scientific managementwas
extremely popular when it was introduced and is still popular even today. The core qualities of
taylorism and the related criticisms, along with their applications in the today s business world in

It may also reduce mobility of labour, thereby resulting in low quality goods being produced.
Taylor proposed rules related to standardization and control in order to gauge direct control of
employees by the managers, which would in turn increase the work efficiency of the workers. It
gives full authority to the managers to redesign, allocate or supervise the workers without giving
due importance to the opinions or perceptions of the employees. According to this principle, it is
not mandatory to consult the employees or to know their wants or preferences when making all
important decisions of the organization. This refers to a mechanistic organization, which is
characterized by centralization of authority and formalization of strict procedures or practices down
the hierarchy along with functional specialization. One application of standardization or direct
control can be seen in the accounting firms where the supervisor accountants guide their operative
accountants thereby boosting the efficiency of their lower rank accountants by simplifying the
complex accounting processes for them. However, adoption of this process remains limited due to
its inflexibility and lack of innovation and commitment by the employees. It may give rise to
rigidity, which must be overcome in order to motivate the employees to a greater extent and give
them the liberty to voice their opinions in certain matters.

How The Mabo decision changed Aboriginal Rights and Freedoms for the Better?
On June 3rd 1992 The Mabo decision changed lives of Aboriginals all around Australia. It was the
first time that Aboriginals where acknowledged as the traditional owners of the land, and their
customs and traditions recognised. It also made improvement between the relationship of
Aboriginals and Non aboriginal people. The Mabo decision also led to the declaration of the
Native Title Act in 1993. The Native Title Act is the recognition of Aboriginal s having rights and
interests in certain land because of their tradition laws and customs.
The Mabo decision challenged the Australian Legal system and fought for recognition of
Aboriginals and Torres Strait islandersbeing the traditional owners of the land. The Mabo
decision was a 10 year case and on the 3rd of June 1992 the High Court declared that the term terra
nullius should not have been applied to Australia when first discovered by Captain James Cook.
The decision saw that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People have rights to the land, rights
that existed before the British settlement took place. This decision acknowledged the Aboriginals
and Torres Strait Islander Peoples unique connection with the land and acknowledged their
traditions and customs. Evidence that support this is Source 1, a newspaper article from The Age

John Keynes And Friedrich Hayek
John Keynes and Friedrich Hayek where two of the most influential economic minds of the 20th
century. Each of these men s ideas had a great impact on the economy of numerous countries and
helped countries find economic success different times. Keynes and Hayek had opposite ideas
on what created a working economy that would be successful and avoid economical depressions
like that of the United States great depression and the European depressions that resulted from
the two World Wars. Keynes believes that the best way to maintain a strong economy was to
have government micromanage any and all aspects of the economy. He believes that in order to
maintain full employment of citizens, countries must spend money to create jobs and to help
struggling companies. Hayes believes that this was not the answer and would only result in
more problems. Hayes felt that a market will be able to take care of its self and in order to
ensure this government needed to avoid intervention to allow for a free economy to develop.
During the time of war Keynes ideas were more successful because the government was able to
make a large quantity of jobs for people through goods needed for the war. Since Keynes ideas
were so widely used and accepted at this time, Hayek s ideas were rejected and considered bad
because the purposed to do the opposite. After the good 30 years Keynes economic ideas began to
show flaws through inflation and unemployment rates. This issue resulted from the restriction

4. Propose ways in which intellectual property piracy could be stopped permanently. I believe
that it is simply not realistic to speak of eliminating all piracy, as there will always be at least a
small segment of the population who can t be deterred from stealing others ideas and creativity.
Instead, what we can and should strive for is the reduction of piracy to the lowest levels
possible; levels that will not rob authors and copyright owners of the incentive to create and
distribute their works. I believe that this could be accomplished through a two step copyright
protection program of: 1) crafting a proper legal framework and 2) the adequate and proper
implementation of the said framework. The legal framework provides the basic rights to copyright
owners and establishes procedures for the enforcement of those rights. Those procedures must
provide the opportunity to obtain adequate remedies when those rights are violated as well as the
possibility of punitive monetary judgments and, in appropriate cases, imprisonment of the infringer.
The second part of this copyright protection program is the application of these legal rules to ensure
that copyright owners have actual, effective protection against infringement of their rights. 5.The

Bullying Vs Cyberbullying
School Officials Vs Cyberbullying Cyberbullying is one of the world s major causes of teen
depression and suicide, stating that 42% kids been bullied while online (Cushing). Although due to
this increase with devices, such as phones and computers, people tend to cyberbully since it s the
easiest way to gain the victim. Cyberbullying is an act of bullyingthrough devices, threatening or
humiliating the victim that is being communicated to. This causes harm to those who fall victim,
around twenty percent of these victims tend to think of suicide, and one of ten often commit the act.
Due to cyberbullying, school officials should help stand for those deteriorating as a victim, this will
then help prevent suicidal acts, suppress depression, and help improve teens to be more cooperative
with others in the same situations. Cyberbullying since then became a national problem. Although
if school officials take part in helping out with teens, this will prevent suicidal acts among the
students. Counseling, just on its own, can help prevent these suicidal thoughts. Due to their careers
counselors tend to know how to handle many situations amongst students including that of
cyberbullying. By doing their jobs, counselors can not only go to the student being bullied, but
engage the students who tend to imply the bullying. This creates programs that ll help the
communities to help one another in these situations. With programs being constructed this will
benefit the way society will

Alexander John Greenslade, Stepney, London, 1885. I was born to Lord John Greenslade and

We lived in a white bricked mansion: five stories tall; a small porters lodge just outside the front
door; white and gold incrusted foyer centred around a carpeted marble staircase, a glittering
chandelier hanging from The Creation of Adam on the ceiling. The lower few floors there were
full with an extensively lavish state dining room, drawing rooms, art galleries, studies and libraries,

wheeled by, the boy and I managed to look at each other directly in the eyes. Just from the
bloodshot brown eyes, I saw the worry of a hundred grown men thrown onto his shoulders.
Why is everything here so awful? I asked my father. Both my parents faced me, their heads held
high.
These people are not like us; they come of unfortunate bloodlines. Born into a poor family, and will
stay that way until they die. They said, splitting up the sentences.
That s sad,
Listen; they are none of your concern. They live their lives, and we live ours. My mother snapped
Enough of this somber talk, we are nearly at Hyde Park. Father chimed in.
We made our way out of the slums, returning to the vicinity of the palace. The horses drew us
around Kensington Palace and the Russian embassy. Past Round Pond stood the Crystal Palace. A
magnificent building, made almost wholly of glass, was erected by the river running through the
park. Millions of 10 by 50 inch glass panes, all held together by iron reinforcements; reaching 170
feet high. Thousands of people surrounded the palace s fountains and parks.
The carriage slowed to a halt outside of the transparent doors. The family strode into the emporium.

Solubility Advantages And Disadvantages Of Lubricants In...
Lubricants
Lubricants as the name suggest, reduce friction between powder mix and the die walls during
compression and ejection. They also prevents the mixed powders/ granules from sticking to the
processing zone of the tablet press especially the punches and die. In some cases, lubricants reduce
inter particulate friction and thus, improve flow rates of powders or granules. The best lubricants
are those with low shear strength but strong cohesive tendencies perpendicular to the line of shear.
Lubricants can be classified based on their solubility characteristics into
Soluble lubricants e.g., Polyethylene glycol (PEG), Polyoxyethylene stearates, and Lauryl sulphate
salts.

They may also increase the aqueous solubility of poorly soluble drug substance in the
gastrointestinal tract and, as a result, the rate of dissolution of the active agent will increase. It
should be noted that the surfactants should not interact with the drug substance as this may affect
the dissolution rate of the drug substance. Example of surfactant include sodium lauryl sulphate
(One of the most popular surface active agent that improves the wetting properties of hydrophobic
tablets), Cetylpyridine chloride, glyceryl monooleate etc.
Conclusion
Excipients are essential in the formulation of tablet dosage forms as it ensures successful
manufacturing process and quality of the resultant formulation. Proper selection of excipients and
their relative concentrations in the formulation is important in development of a successful
pharmaceutical formulation. Although excipient are often categorized as inert, preformulation
studies can help determine how these excipient influence the stability, bioavailability, and
processability of the dosage forms.
The need for acquiring more information and use standards for excipients has been recognized in a
joint venture of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Council of the Pharmaceutical
Society of Great Britain. The result is called the Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients. This
reference work is now distributed widely throughout the world.

Essay about Small Change
Small Change What determines a movement? Malcolm Gladwell defines what pushes a
movement to make a difference. He analyzes the concept of strong ties and weak ties and how
these relationships affect an individual s willpower and determination to help a cause. Gregory
Orr puts these ideas into context in his memoir, Return to Hayneville , in which he recounts his
experience and involvement in the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Malcolm Gladwell s Small

Orr s experience helped him learn about himself and primarily helps an individual discover the
importance of living. Gladwell would classify Orr as someone who shared no relationship with
the cause and only joined because because he wanted to find himself in the midst of chaos not
necessarily because he was passionate about the civil rights movement. Gladwell describes the
movement of sit ins across the south as a fever . Orr found himself caught up in the contagion,
he endured the beatings and the injustice the same as everyone else but his motives were not set
for civil rights, he realized this when he was taken and held captive, Even as I sank into
depression and brooded in the stifling heat of that jail barn, I was learning that I wanted to live,
(Orr, 223). When he was released Orr left without alerting the COFO office because he felt
ashamed. It was easy for him to walk away from the cause for him to walk away from the cause
because he as he left he wasn t leaving anything or anyone behind. Gladwell s explains that weak
ties seldom lead to high risk activism (Gladwell, 137). In Gregory Orr s essay, Return to
Hayneville , published by The Virginia Quarterly Review, Orr revisited the place of his abduction
by armed vigilantes in Alabama as a Civil Rights worker in 1965. Even though the events of this
essay take place in 1965, for Orr it started with the death of his younger brother in a hunting

Disagreement Analysis
The statement claims that we learn more from people whose views we share than those whose
views we contradict because disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning. Some people think
that agreement leads to harmony and learning, while disagreement hinders intellectual progress. I
disagree with both the claim and the reason and will discuss situations that illustrate why I consider
the statement misguided.
I disgree with the view that we learn more from those who share our views than those who
contradict it. This comes from my experience being a student in a school in Boston. Although I
believe in the Islamic teachings, I, nonetheless, learned a great deal about science, mathematics,

that we should instead abolish the concept of the minimum wage. My reasoning was that increasing
the minimum wage would help the middle class and low income families. But my colleage thought
that from the economic theory of demand and price, an increase in the minimum wage would hurt
small businesses as they would be less profitable to run, and thus would result in an increase in
unemployment. What I learned from our discussion was that even though our views differed
drastically, each of us learned about the other s point of view. The experience was both delightful
and enlightening. Thus, disagreement does not cause stress and inhibit learning. In fact, the

communicate with the Hispanic consumer. As the Hispanic wireless market grows, mobile
companies use our Hispanic cultural backgrounds and bicultural lives to sell and connect with
customer. Creating a new Spanglish media culturecan mean larger numbers for wireless companies
and global recognition for this non dominant group.
Clearly, the economic power that Hispanics have in the wireless market is immense, and the efforts
from these companies to reach the Hispanic community have been shown in their Spanglish
commercials and advertising. The demand for services that are exclusive to these minorities has
forced media to be aware of bicultural communities. In recent years major wireless companies have
joined the movement. Verizon Wireless teamed up with Jennifer Lopez and launched a national

The Epicureans By Their Writings Have Seized The Whole Of...
Mitchol Dunham
Master Katy Chenoweth
Classical Humanities 2200
30 July 2015
In the Tusculan Disputations, Cicero wrote The Epicureans by their writings have seized the
whole of Italy. Indeed, this often neglected or dismissed branch of philosophy played a great role
in the development of the culture of Rome through the late Republican period. It can prove
difficult to find examples of noteworthy Epicureans holding political office compared with their
polemic counterparts, the Stoics, largely because of the Epicurean teaching [one must] live
without being noticed. Still, there are a few who hold public office despite their Epicurean beliefs,
or perhaps more appropriately, continue to hold Epicurean beliefs despite the social expectation to
aspire to public office. From the writings and of Cicero and Lucretius, we can come to understand
the immense impact Epicureanism had on Roman culture.
The first chronicled Roman who was classically trained in Epicureanism is Titus Albucius, a
member of the upper class living around 100 B.C.E. who spent his youth studying philosophy and
oration in Athens. Albucius grew fond of Epicureanism and declared himself a devotee of the
school; however, after reaching adulthood, Albucius returned to Rome to follow the cursus
honorum, eventually ending up as praetor of a province. After being exiled, Albucius went back to
Athens and fully dedicated himself to Epicureanism by abandoning the political life entirely.
Indeed, a seemingly innocuous

What Is The Cause Of The Mistreatment Of United...
A few months ago a video of an United Airlines passenger went viral. Dr. Doa was violently
dragged from his seat down an aisle by airport security because he refused to give up his seat to
an united airline crew member (Aratani, 2017). Dao suffered a concussion, broken nose and two
missing teeth, among other injuries. United says it failed both its passengers and employees.
There were several issues that played a key factor in this incident that caused a lot of major
dilemmas for United Continental. One of the reasons for the mistreatment of Dr. Doa was due to
the airlineoverbooking flights. Most airlines overbook flights frequently. United Airlinesbooted
3,765 passengers off flights last year just because it sold more tickets than there

Metapath Case Report Essay
METAPHATH SOFTWARE CORP.
BRIEFING NOTE
FINANCING RECOMMENDATION
SEPTEMBER 1997
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this briefing note is to provide recommendations for Metapath Software Corp. (
Metapath ) on its financing offers received in September 1997.
These two offers came from 1) a fund consortium led by Robertson Stephens Omega Fund ( RSC
) and Technology Crossover Ventures ( TCV ) and 2) CellTech Communications ( CellTech ), a
vendor of wireless technology which had recently gone IPO.
2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Metapath has made good progress in developing its business since its inception generating $6.4m
revenue in the September quarter of 1997 with representation of three large customers. However,
with the ambition to win a good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strategic/Business fit between CellTech and Metapath.
4. ANALYSIS
Comparing the term sheet of the offer from RSC and TCV consortium to that of CellTech, RSC
and TCV s PCPT had a much more dilutive impact to Metapath upon exit.
Under liquidation, the term sheet stipulates that the Series E investors is entitled to claim its initial
investment of $10.75 million plus any accrued but unpaid dividend. Any proceeds after this claim
will then be distributed to all common and Series E Preferred shareholders on an as converted pro
rata basis. This double dipping means that RSC will not only recover its initial investment of $5
millions, but also enjoys the convertible benefits.
As a result, if the sale occurs before 2000, the profitability for A D tranches will be negatively
impacted by the preferred characteristic in the Series E. However if the sale occurs after 2000, A
and B tranches will be gradually redeemed on an annual basis, which will leave C and D tranches
to be mostly impacted adversely by the preferred characteristic in the Series E stock.
Under the circumstance of an IPO, tranches C, D and E will convert to common at their negotiated
prices while A B will be redeemed.
However, on the flip side, the price offered by RSC and TCV consortium was $6, which was
significantly higher than the first three rounds of financing (tranches A,B and C) at

Our Sheep System Will Be Composed Of Rambouillet And...
Our sheep system will be comprised of Rambouillet and Columbia sheep. Our vision at Wooly
Bully farms is to be a self sustaining and environmentally friendly company for our consumers,
employees, and animals. Our mission here at Wooly Bully is to implement a sustainable system in
order to provide our clients with high grade fiber, sustainable replacement ewes, and quality grade
meat.
The Rambouillet was chosen over other breeds, due to the breed s ability to do well in; range
conditions, large size, use as a dual purpose breed, and fine wool they are known for. The
rambouillet originates from Spanish merinos which were sent to France to help improve herds in
the country. The spanish government was extremely strict on the exportation of their merinos. This
all changed in 1786 when the King allowed for 359 animals to be sent to a Rambouillet farm
outside of Paris. The fall of the Spanish empire helped get more of the spanish merino bloodlines
outside of Spain. The breed was created through careful selection of fleece characteristics to
maintain a breed with fine wool. Along with maintaining fine wool the breed gained body size
and conformation, which was rare for breeds not producing mutton (American Rambouillet Sheep
Breeders Association). Some of the French animals were sent to Germany where Rambouillet
rams were used in many of flocks as the breeds fame as a fine wooled breed spread. Many of the
animals can have their ancestry traced back to the animal from the German von

Essay on Grant and Lee a Study in Contrasts
Grant and Lee: A Study in Contrasts, written by Bruce Catton compares and contrasts the
characteristics and lives of two leaders of the Civil War. Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee,
two very strong and very different generals, met on April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Court House in
Virginia to bring to a close the Civil War. By this time, America had become a country that was
starting over with the simple core belief in equal rights for everyone. Lee, who is from Virginia,
had very traditional and old fashioned beliefs. He strongly believed in the idea that having
unequal, leadership, and social categories provided an advantage to society. The Confederacy
embraced Lee as their leader as well. Furthermore, Confederate soldiers considered Lee... Show

He would fight for the Union with everything he had because he strongly believed in the Western
way of living he was raised in. Although Grant and Lee had individual beliefs that clashed with
one another they also had a few things in common. For example, Catton points out they were
both great fighters that displayed a lot of tenacity and fidelity to their separate causes. Grant
battled and endured his way down the Mississippi Valley despite his military handicaps and
personal discouragements while Lee still had faith at Petersburg after all hope was lost. Also,
their fighting qualities were very similar and they both refused to give up as long as they were
able to fight. They were both also very daring and resourceful in that they had the ability to move
quickly and think faster than the enemy. Most importantly, they were alike in the sense that they
had the ability to turn away from war and come to peace once the fighting had ended. As a result,
this helped the nation become whole and united again. Their gathering at Appomattox was a great
moment in American history. In our modern society today I think that we can now discuss our
political differences and beliefs in peace and overall our nation is one that is very united as a
whole. We live in a country that strongly follows Grant s belief in equal rights for everyone in
which citizens are able to vote for who

Questions On Tony Stark And Nick Fury
Cally Hannah 220142567 LAW171 Assignment Question Word Count 1,736 a) Is there a binding
agreement between Tony Stark and Nick Fury? Invitation to treat could be argued to have occurred
when Tony wrote letters to known collectors. When Tony, the owner of the artefact, indicated he
might be prepared to sell for $7.5 million this could be simply viewed as a supply of information
rather than an actual offer to sell. Tony wanted to enter into negotiations. Tony was not making an
offer at this stage. Tony wrote letters (not just one letter) in an invitation to treat. Tony however
only has one artefact, and therefore could not have supplied to all recipients of his letter. Tony s
letter writing to various known collectors further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the offer by Tony was via email, it would be reasonable to expect that acceptance
might be made by post as this was a form of communication used by Tony to Nick. Tony clearly
indicated duration of his offer. His offer was to lapse at a specified time (5pm Thursday 25
June). The offer was still in duration and had not lapsed when Nick posted his acceptance to
Tony. However, Nick s offer was less advantageous to Tony than Natasha s offer . Natasha s offer
and acceptance concluded before Nick s. Termination of an offer via revocation can occur if an
offer is withdrawn any time prior to acceptance. Whilst Tony did not personally communicate the
withdrawal of his offer to Nick when he agreed to sell the artefact to Natasha, there is not a
requirement that revocation is communicated personally by Tony to Nick. It could be likely
viewed that Nick s knowledge that Natasha had purchased the artefact could be considered
communication of withdrawal of Tony s offer. A conditional offer with an option can become
binding if the offeree gives consideration for the promise, however in this case this does not apply
as Nick did not give anything to Tony in return for his promise. Sufficient consideration occurred
(promise of money in exchange for the artefact) representing quid pro quo. Intention to create legal
relations existed due to the commercial setting (as opposed to

  • 2. Analysis Of Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Understanding the sources for a particular work is an important task for literary critics, because it ultimately leads to a better understanding and appreciation of the work itself. Sometimes similarities are so weak as to strain the credulity of theories propounding influence. At other times, the ties are so strong that influence is near certain. However, regardless of the strength of such ties, the alterations made to an original source are very potent cues as to authorial intention. In composing The Canterbury Tales, there is a broad diversity of tales told by a wide range of narrators. This indicates that Chaucer likely used a wide variety of sources. The alterations made by Chaucer to the source material for the Clerk s Tale, including Boccaccio s Decameron X, or The Story of Griselda, indicate Chaucer s motive to examine issues such as marriage as was found in Renaissance Italy, and to explore the state of mind of the Marquis, as well as Griselda. Chaucer not only layers psychological depth to Boccaccio s tale, but also adds to its traditional veneration of the obedient and tractable wife a genuine admiration for women in general. Much critical ink has been spilled contesting the power of influence Boccaccio s work in the Decameron had over Chaucer in writing The Canterbury Tales. Indeed, though the two works diverge in both plot and subject, they also possess strong similarities. These convergences have led readers to presume that Chaucer engaged in heavy ... • 4. Critical Examination of the Idle No More Movement In October of 2012, Bill C 45 was introduced into Ottawa by the Harper government. The bill is a 457 page document, containing over 64 amendments to a multitude of acts and regulations, including notable revisions to the Indian Act, the Navigable Waters Protection Act and the Environment Assessment Act. Bill C 45, later renamed the Jobs and Growth Act, was passed through government with minimal consultation from the Indigenous peoples of Canada, effectively rendering the peoples voice silent and proving the neglect and mistreatment of the Indigenous peoples by the government of Canada. Shortly after these amendments were introduced, four women from Saskatchewan began communicating via social media to discuss Bill C 45. The main concern these women had were if the bill was going to further oppress Indigenous rights and destroy environmental lands across Canada. A movement was formed in an attempt to stop the government from introducing more legislation that will erode Indigenous rights. On November 10, 2012, an event was organized to raise awareness regarding this bill. The movement was to be known as the Idle No More movement. This paper will critically examine and analyze the Idle No More movement and Bill C 45 from three distinct known theoretical political discourses Neoliberal Capitalism, Decolonizing Eco Anarchism and Social Liberal Feminism and from perspective that I hold, an Eco Radical Feminist. There are many types of loans and the terms and conditions of a loan can vary greatly. Different types of loans each have their own benefits and risks. The terms of a secured loan can be stricter than an unsecured loan. One of the main differences between these two types of loans is how debt collection efforts are handled in the event you default on your loan payments. Your debt repayment options may be managed differently in a secured loan than an unsecured loan. In the event of an extended financial hardship, you may not be eligible to have certain types of loans eliminated through bankruptcy. Secured Loans Most major loan purchases, such as your home or car, are called secured loans. They are called secured loans because the debts acquired under this type of loan are secured against collateral. A mortgage loan is considered a secured loan. When Penelope was swarmed by suitors, she tested each one of them by asking them to string the bow the same way her husband would. She was very confident that no one would be able to do that and believed in her husband s unique ability. Human beings are social animals, and we all have weaknesses; but overcoming these weaknesses is what makes our character stronger, and this is the point of Penelope that I admire the most. Unfortunately for Penelope, Odysseus was not as faithful as she was. On his long journey back home, Odysseus comes in contact with the witch Calypso and the sea nymph Circe. Race is defined as a socially constructed category of individuals who share common inborn biological traits (Newman 2009). Class is defined as groups of people who share a similar position in society based on their wealth and income (Newman 2009). Social classand race shape family lives in many ways, which in return reproduces class and race inequalities. In Annette Lareau s study of families, she uses real stories of real families to show important social patterns. All families want their children to be happy, healthy, and grow. Social classes make a difference in how parents go about meeting this goal. In Annette Lareau book, Unequal Childhoods: Class, Race, and Family Life, she promotes middle classparents as concerted cultivation. Middle class parents encourage their children s talents, opinions, and skills. For example, engaging their children in organized activities and closely monitoring children s experiences in school. According to Lareau, middle class children gain an emerging sense of entitlement through this pattern of converted cultivation. This causes a focus on children s individual development. Slowly but surely all the nations across the world have been impacted by Economic Globalization. India for example has been one of the countries that has been recently hit by the storm and India s economy can be seen to still be shooting up. In my paper I will be discussing the Economic Globalizationof India, the roots of the globalization to occur, the effects it had and the negative effects it had. Effects such as foreign trade, economic growth and GDP. From the mid 90 s to current times India is seeing the effects of globalization, bringing India into one of the top countries in the world in terms of GDP being ranked at 10th in the world. The economic globalization in India began in the 90 s with the economic growth being due too advances in IT and business. One of the major forces of globalization in India has been in the growth of outsourced IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) services (1). Asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information, and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction that creates uniform offspring. Asexual reproduction occurs mainly in single celled organisms (organisms with one cell), and in a few multicellular organisms (an organism with more than one cell). Two examples of single celled organisms are bacteria and amoeba. Bacteria is a single celled organism forming one of the three domains of life. This will increase the diversity of species and the ecosystem since the offspring is diverse. For example, female lions give birth to about one to five cubs, and all the cubs are genetically different. This will increase the diversity of lions. Whereas asexual reproduction produces offspring that has the same genetics as its parent, which lowers the diversity rate of organisms. Another advantage of sexual reproduction is better agriculture. This is because selective breeding can apply to sexually produced organisms. Selective breeding when parent organisms are chosen to mate, which produces more desirable and better plants and animals. An example of selective breeding is corn. It may also reduce mobility of labour, thereby resulting in low quality goods being produced. Taylor proposed rules related to standardization and control in order to gauge direct control of employees by the managers, which would in turn increase the work efficiency of the workers. It gives full authority to the managers to redesign, allocate or supervise the workers without giving due importance to the opinions or perceptions of the employees. According to this principle, it is not mandatory to consult the employees or to know their wants or preferences when making all important decisions of the organization. This refers to a mechanistic organization, which is characterized by centralization of authority and formalization of strict procedures or practices down the hierarchy along with functional specialization. One application of standardization or direct control can be seen in the accounting firms where the supervisor accountants guide their operative accountants thereby boosting the efficiency of their lower rank accountants by simplifying the complex accounting processes for them. However, adoption of this process remains limited due to its inflexibility and lack of innovation and commitment by the employees. Keynes and Hayek had opposite ideas on what created a working economy that would be successful and avoid economical depressions like that of the United States great depression and the European depressions that resulted from the two World Wars. Keynes believes that the best way to maintain a strong economy was to have government micromanage any and all aspects of the economy. Hayes believes that this was not the answer and would only result in more problems. I believe that it is simply not realistic to speak of eliminating all piracy, as there will always be at least a small segment of the population who can t be deterred from stealing others ideas and creativity. Instead, what we can and should strive for is the reduction of piracy to the lowest levels possible; levels that will not rob authors and copyright owners of the incentive to create and distribute their works. I believe that this could be accomplished through a two step copyright protection program of: 1) crafting a proper legal framework and 2) the adequate and proper implementation of the said framework. The legal framework provides the basic rights to copyright owners and establishes procedures for the enforcement of those rights. Those procedures must provide the opportunity to obtain adequate remedies when those rights are violated as well as the possibility of punitive monetary judgments and, in appropriate cases, imprisonment of the infringer. ANALYSIS Comparing the term sheet of the offer from RSC and TCV consortium to that of CellTech, RSC and TCV s PCPT had a much more dilutive impact to Metapath upon exit. Under liquidation, the term sheet stipulates that the Series E investors is entitled to claim its initial investment of $10.75 million plus any accrued but unpaid dividend. Any proceeds after this claim will then be distributed to all common and Series E Preferred shareholders on an as converted pro rata basis. This double dipping means that RSC will not only recover its initial investment of $5 millions, but also enjoys the convertible benefits. As a result, if the sale occurs before 2000, the profitability for A D tranches will be negatively impacted by the preferred characteristic in the Series E. However if the sale occurs after 2000, A and B tranches will be gradually redeemed on an annual basis, which will leave C and D tranches to be mostly impacted adversely by the preferred characteristic in the Series E stock. Under the circumstance of an IPO, tranches C, D and E will convert to common at their negotiated prices while A B will be redeemed. However, on the flip side, the price offered by RSC and TCV consortium was $6, which was significantly higher than the first three rounds of financing (tranches A,B and C) at

  • 46. Our Sheep System Will Be Composed Of Rambouillet And... Our sheep system will be comprised of Rambouillet and Columbia sheep. Our vision at Wooly Bully farms is to be a self sustaining and environmentally friendly company for our consumers, employees, and animals. Our mission here at Wooly Bully is to implement a sustainable system in order to provide our clients with high grade fiber, sustainable replacement ewes, and quality grade meat. The Rambouillet was chosen over other breeds, due to the breed s ability to do well in; range conditions, large size, use as a dual purpose breed, and fine wool they are known for. The rambouillet originates from Spanish merinos which were sent to France to help improve herds in the country. The spanish government was extremely strict on the exportation of their merinos. This all changed in 1786 when the King allowed for 359 animals to be sent to a Rambouillet farm outside of Paris. The fall of the Spanish empire helped get more of the spanish merino bloodlines outside of Spain. The breed was created through careful selection of fleece characteristics to maintain a breed with fine wool. Along with maintaining fine wool the breed gained body size and conformation, which was rare for breeds not producing mutton (American Rambouillet Sheep Breeders Association). Some of the French animals were sent to Germany where Rambouillet rams were used in many of flocks as the breeds fame as a fine wooled breed spread. Many of the animals can have their ancestry traced back to the animal from the German von ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Essay on Grant and Lee a Study in Contrasts Grant and Lee: A Study in Contrasts, written by Bruce Catton compares and contrasts the characteristics and lives of two leaders of the Civil War. Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee, two very strong and very different generals, met on April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Court House in Virginia to bring to a close the Civil War. By this time, America had become a country that was starting over with the simple core belief in equal rights for everyone. Lee, who is from Virginia, had very traditional and old fashioned beliefs. He strongly believed in the idea that having unequal, leadership, and social categories provided an advantage to society. The Confederacy embraced Lee as their leader as well. Furthermore, Confederate soldiers considered Lee... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He would fight for the Union with everything he had because he strongly believed in the Western way of living he was raised in. Although Grant and Lee had individual beliefs that clashed with one another they also had a few things in common. For example, Catton points out they were both great fighters that displayed a lot of tenacity and fidelity to their separate causes. Grant battled and endured his way down the Mississippi Valley despite his military handicaps and personal discouragements while Lee still had faith at Petersburg after all hope was lost. Also, their fighting qualities were very similar and they both refused to give up as long as they were able to fight. They were both also very daring and resourceful in that they had the ability to move quickly and think faster than the enemy. Most importantly, they were alike in the sense that they had the ability to turn away from war and come to peace once the fighting had ended. As a result, this helped the nation become whole and united again. Their gathering at Appomattox was a great moment in American history. In our modern society today I think that we can now discuss our political differences and beliefs in peace and overall our nation is one that is very united as a whole. We live in a country that strongly follows Grant s belief in equal rights for everyone in which citizens are able to vote for who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Questions On Tony Stark And Nick Fury Cally Hannah 220142567 LAW171 Assignment Question Word Count 1,736 a) Is there a binding agreement between Tony Stark and Nick Fury? Invitation to treat could be argued to have occurred when Tony wrote letters to known collectors. When Tony, the owner of the artefact, indicated he might be prepared to sell for $7.5 million this could be simply viewed as a supply of information rather than an actual offer to sell. Tony wanted to enter into negotiations. Tony was not making an offer at this stage. Tony wrote letters (not just one letter) in an invitation to treat. Tony however only has one artefact, and therefore could not have supplied to all recipients of his letter. Tony s letter writing to various known collectors further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the offer by Tony was via email, it would be reasonable to expect that acceptance might be made by post as this was a form of communication used by Tony to Nick. Tony clearly indicated duration of his offer. His offer was to lapse at a specified time (5pm Thursday 25 June). The offer was still in duration and had not lapsed when Nick posted his acceptance to Tony. However, Nick s offer was less advantageous to Tony than Natasha s offer . Natasha s offer and acceptance concluded before Nick s. Termination of an offer via revocation can occur if an offer is withdrawn any time prior to acceptance. Whilst Tony did not personally communicate the withdrawal of his offer to Nick when he agreed to sell the artefact to Natasha, there is not a requirement that revocation is communicated personally by Tony to Nick. It could be likely viewed that Nick s knowledge that Natasha had purchased the artefact could be considered communication of withdrawal of Tony s offer. A conditional offer with an option can become binding if the offeree gives consideration for the promise, however in this case this does not apply as Nick did not give anything to Tony in return for his promise. Sufficient consideration occurred (promise of money in exchange for the artefact) representing quid pro quo. Intention to create legal relations existed due to the commercial setting (as opposed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
