The Necessity Of Radical Reconstruction
The necessity of Radical Reconstruction The Radical Reconstruction was a time of prosperity
followed by the loss of all effort made to improve the country s social and political life. Why was it
necessary for it to happen? After the Civil War had ended a period of Reconstruction was in mind, but
failed to succeed. President Andrew Johnson s principle was that the South never had a right to
succeed. He also believed that blacks should not have any role in the Reconstruction. Johnson
appointed provisional governors and ordered them to call state conventions to establish a new, all
white government. Radical Republicans believed that people of all skin color had the right to be equal.
In their opinion, blacks should have the same political opportunities and rights like the whites do.
They wanted to see the powers of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the hardships, the war for African American freedom was not over. It was a necessary time
period in order for us to understand what country we want to live in, what changes had to be made.
The most significant events of the 1920s The 1920s, also known best as the Roaring Twenties, were a
major breakthrough in the country. Introduction to jazz, movies, radio, dancing, consumer culture
based on credit, increased personal freedom, and for some, increased wealth, but not for all. The
Roaring Twenties were marked by a bit of a government corruption, mostly an outcome of the
administration of Warren G. Harding. He himself was not corrupt, but chose incorrect companions like
Harry Dougherty, who accepted to not prosecute criminals, and Albert Fall, who took half a million
dollars from private business in exchange for leases to government oil reserves at Teapot Dome, later
becoming the first cabinet member to ever get convicted of a

John Mayer Essay
Performer: John Mayer
Performer s Life Span: Mayer was born on October 16, 1977 in Connecticut. Mayer is currently living
and still records and plays music.
Location:
John Mayer was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Mayer spent his adolescent years in Connecticut
until finally moving away to Berklee College of Music in Boston. Mayer dropped out of college and
moved to Atlanta, Georgia and this is where his music career started. After traveling around doing
tours for many years Mayer finally settled down and currently lives in Bozeman, Montana.
Band Members: John Mayer sang many songs on his own however he formed a band in 2005 called
the John Mayer Trio. Beyond Mayer the other two members in the band are bass player Pino Palladino

There was only one instrument used in this song and that was an acoustic guitar played by Mayer
himself. In this song the tone color was soft throughout the whole song. He played a quiet but sweet
guitar sound. He sang the song in a low pitch without ever getting loud which made the song have
more emotion. I believe there was compression used on this song because in some parts of the song
where he is singing in a higher pitch the music never got any louder. Furthermore, reverb was used as
well because as you listen to the music you can hear the acoustic guitar reflection even after he has
played the note. This song fits perfect into John Mayer s singing and guitar playing style. His style is
singing in a soft tone that is sweet and not very loud and this song fits that perfectly. In addition, he
plays his guitar and highlights his skills in some parts of the song which is what he likes to do in many
of his songs. Mayer also sings with a lot of emotion and this song you can just feel the emotion in the
guitar and his voice. The emotion that Mayer sings with is something that is really phenomenal about
his musical style. In this song, his message is that parents should spend time and love on your children
and show them how to love because one day they will be parents themselves. He highlights how
relationships are important and parents should lead by example so that their children will have good

Midnight s Children and Satanic Verses
The western world often touts multiculturalism as an ideal for society. However, only nations with
centuries of cultural integration realize this goal. With the advent of the postmodern Earth, however,
young nations are striving headstrong into the practice of cultural unification to cope with the massive
influx of interconnectivity between nations, cultures, and peoples. In doing so they neglect people s
cultural that have stood for hundreds of years. Salman Rushdie, a man exposed firsthand to cultural
hubs all over the globe, writes using dream like magical sequences to allow him to explore the inner
workings of the transcultural man. In doing so, he uses the cultural connotations of the images to
convey the chaos and surrealism of the modern world. In Midnight s Children and Satanic Verses,
Salman Rushdie aptly applies magical realism and religious parallels to convey the internal struggle of
reconciling self determination with cultural heritage. Through the character Saladin Chamcha s arc in
The Satanic Verses, Rushdie illustrates the internal turmoil that results from denying one s cultural
roots in favor of a self determined identity. Chamcha, an Indian British citizen, is molested at the age
of thirteen and has an estranged relationship with his father. In an effort to distance himself from these
experiences, he abandons his Indian lifestyle by changing his gestures and accent to create an English
identity. Decades later, traveling from England to India to visit

What Are New Ideas Threaten Society
New Ideas Threaten Society The heart of the Enlightenment lied at the heart of Paris, France.
Intellectuals gathered throughout Europe to debate and justify new and old ideas. Gatherings were
held to host discussion as reformed concepts spread across Europe though passionate writers and
scholars. Traditional beliefs, customs, and conventions were examined during the Enlightenment by
these people and the citizens that come to read their papers. Controversy brewed as power holders and
religion met with the power of reason, but these ideas spread through Europe in a variety of methods.
For one, the introduction of Denis Diderot s Encyclopedia, Encyclopédie, sparked curiosity among
intellectual readers. With its ample amount of general knowledge in science, the goal was to change
the way people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salons were where writers, artists, philosophers, and other intellectuals gather informally to exchange
ideas. The concept of salons may have originated in the 1600s when noblewomen of Paris invited
friends over to discuss poetic readings. By the 1700s woman began questioning their role in society,
hosting salons to contribute and gain knowledge to improve social status
(http://westerncivguides.umwblogs.org). Primarily, the goals of salons were to build and a network of
writers by discussing ideas and encouraging readers to become writers of their own
(https://www.mtholyoke.edu). They served the purpose of involving women the political and social
reforms for the woman were to assign and contribute to the discussion (sites.google.com). Marie
Thérèse Rodet Geoffrin was the hostess of highly respected salons in Hôtel de Rambouillet. She was
very generous, almost motherly, knew how to hold conversations, and a very attentive listener who
enjoyed being taught. This, in turn, allowed her salon to grow in popularity and respect, gathering
intellectuals from all parts of Europe

The United States And United Kingdom Affect Global Businesses
Throughout the semester we have touched on a multitude of different issues in Global Business. From
monetary systems and how they have changed over time, to how different regions of the world have
produced diverse cultural preferences. Even after touching on as interesting topics as these, nothing
has come close to the intrigue of Government and how they can affect business in many ways. The
many different ways that government can intervene in a business, affect import/export numbers via
taxation, and much more will be discussed in the following paragraphs. The underlying question that
this paper will answer is, how do the actions of the United States and United Kingdom affect global
businesses. The United States government is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deal also sought to protect intellectual property, establish dispute resolution mechanisms, and,
through side agreements, implement labor and environmental safeguards. As one can clearly see here,
this agreement helped not only these three nations out greatly on the economic end of the spectrum,
but it also helped get employee and environmental safety standards to be consistent across the three
nations. This trade agreement helped greatly improve economic disputes that these countries once
faced before. NAFTA has affected the countries in different ways. The United States has come out
alright, but many sceptics believe that the trade, overall, has had modest but positive impacts on the
US GDP, and has added up to $80 billion dollars to the US economy. While the boost in GDP and
increase in US economy was boosted a bit in this trade agreement, it has not been all positives for the
nation. A lot of jobs in the United States have been lost due to companies opting to start up in Mexico
because of cheaper labor costs. An example of how big this swing has been, and just how much it has
affected the US can be seen when looking at the trade balance. In 1993 the US Mexico trade balance
swung from a 1.7 billion dollar U.S. surplus in 1993 to a %54 billion dollar deficit by 2014. So as one
can see right there, while this trade deal may have added money into the economy, it has severely
affected how businesses have taken a hit due to US

Brunswick High. Emergency Procedures
Brunswick High
Emergency Procedures are located in the Policies and Procedures section. They are divided into 4
sections: Fire Safety Guidelines, Emergency Drills, Response to a Violent Incident (can be a student
disruption), and a crisis policy. The fire safety guidelines were more about the type of equipment that
could be used in the classroom, while emergency drills were broken into fire drills and tornado drills.
Similarities and Differences
The similarities between Goodyear Elementary and Brunswick High were the fact that:
Both had a section in the handbook for emergency procedures that included fire drills, tornadoes,
procedures for death, suicide, and major student disruptions/response to violent incidents, and crisis
information
Copies of the Glynn County Emergency Procedure and exit routes are posted in the classrooms, and
Emergency procedures are explained on the first day of school.
While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated that
more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff
Handbook). What s strange is that although a crisis management plan has been created, fire drills were
not better described nor mentioned all; not even the sound signal to look for. In the event of a fire,
younger students usually need more attention to care and calm down. Therefore, it would have been
helpful to cover fire procedures more thoroughly. In the high school handbook, the

Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines
History The history of depressants stretches back thousands of years. Alcohol, the prototypical
depressant, was consumed by humans as early as 10,000 B.C., as established by the discovery of beer

Historically, barbiturates in particular have been used as truth serums because people under the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Unions In South Africa
A trade union is an organisation which consists of members, including workers and union leaders who
come together to protect and stimulate their common interests. The majority of trade unions are
independent of the employer. However, trade unions do try to develop close relationships between
employees and the employer. Sometimes, this may take the form of a partnership agreement between
the trade union and the employer which points out their common interests and objectives. According
to the South African Bill of Rights, anyone is free to join a trade union.
Employers who recognise a trade a union will negotiate with the members over their pay and working
conditions. Recognition agreements are usually gained voluntarily, occasionally with the ... Show

In 1917, the Industrial Workers of Africa (IWA) which was the first trade union for black workers had
formed. The South African Trades and Labour Council (SATLC) had brought together most of the
country by the 1930s. The SATLC was not based on racial discrimination but instead it had accepted
associations with black trade unions. The SATLC had consisted of some black unions which had
joined the organisation in the 1940s and other black unions had joined the Council of Non European
Trade Unions (CNETU) which reached one hundred and nineteen unions and one hundred and fifty
eight thousand members by 1945. The African National Congress (ANC) as well as the South African
Communist Party (SACP) had wanted the African Mine Worker s Strike to turn into a general strike.
The police had put an end to this strike with their brutal means and this had given rise to the National
Party (NP).
The SATLC was broken up by 1954. The Trade Council of South Africa had formed and consisted of
coloureds, Asians and whites, whilst the blacks were in dependent organisations. Black unions that
were independent were excluded from associating with government and other trade unions. The
unions from the SATLC had established the South African Congress of Trade Unions (SACTU) which
combined with CNETU to form the ANC s trade union arm. By 1961 the union had consisted of about
53 000 members and black unions were again silenced for a

Globalization in Indonesia
The 1997 1998 globalization effects in Indonesia
In 1998 20% of the Indonesian population were below the poverty line. In 1999, 28% of the
population was below the poverty line. Then in 2000, 22% of the population was below the poverty
line (Rukmana).
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) claims to help countries in poverty achieve macroeconomic
stability to reduce poverty. Macroeconomic stability is the balance of healthy rates of: GDP,
unemployment, and price indices (Gupya). Indonesia sought the aid of the IMF after their devastating

At that time Indonesia was the only country to get that high of a bid. The former finance minister
Rizal Ramli stated with the IMF s involvement 10 years ago the crisis plunged deeper than necessary.
(Markar Macan) Rizal Ramli also stated Indonesians do not want to taste the same bitter pill again.
(Markar Macan) In conclusion, the damages and the set backs to the Indonesian economy have been
monumental and scarring. The IMF s intentions are disputable and available for speculation. But more
importantly the Indonesian economy suffered more after the aid of the IMF. Many Indonesians feel as
if they were on the right track before they had any interference with IMF. Nether the less, Indonesia is
still currently rebuilding from the damage that the IMF caused hopefully countries in need will take
note to the Bitter Pill that Indonesia had swallowed and refuse assistance from organizations like the
IMF.

How Islam Has Become A Prominent Religion
Islam has become a prominent religion in the world since its creation by the Prophet Muhammad. This
would have not happened if there were not many prominent events in the years since it was created.
Eight events that have happened in the Muslim community are the first revelation, the Hijrah, the
change in the direction of prayer, the taking of Mecca, Abu Bakr becoming the first caliph and his
important few years of rule, and the rule of the Safavid Empire. The First Revelation happened on 17
Ramadan, 610 C.E.. Muhammad was fasting and praying in a cave at the peak of Mount Hira as was
his custom for that time of year. On that night, he awoke and was overtaken by a powerful force. He
struggled with the force and eventually succumbed to it. Muhammad started speaking in Arabic. This
scripture was the first words of what would later be known as The Qur an. This event was the origin of
Islam. Muhammad had just received a line with a divine figure, who would later be known as Allah,
and that would change the world. The First Revelation was the start of the religion known as Islam.
Twelve years after The First Revelation, in 622 C.E., there was a great migration of Muslim families
from Mecca to Yathrib, which became known as al Medinah. This is known as The Hijrah, and was
the start of the Muslim era. The Hijrah upset the Quraysh because the new Muslim families had turned
their back on their tribe and became a part of Muhammad s tribe, sharing common ideals instead of
blood. The

Mac vs. PC: The Everlasting Debate In the world of computers, the choice of systems can be a

on which is better, and there are many die hard fans in each camp. The truth is, PC s are far more
popular, and for good reasons, yet the Mac system is actually the more durable and useful of the two.
Firstly we will consider software availability. The majority of computer users own PC s, both for work

The Causes And Effects Of The Irish Potato Famine
Imagine if your main source of food was snatched away. Envision if you had to leave your home and
start a whole new life. The Irish had to do just this. The potato completely changed Ireland when it
was introduced to the country in the late 1500s. The nutritious food supported this country in more
ways than one. But disaster struck in the mid 1800s when the Potato Famine, otherwise known as the
Great Hunger, began, causing millions of Irish to emigrate from their country and start new lives in
America. Irish people experienced a huge change as they left their homeland to escape the starvation
and poverty caused by the Potato Famine; changing the lives of the Irish and Americans forever.
Before this devastating time, the Irish had a rich culture, filled with folklore and ancient tradition.
Most Irish were Catholic and spoke the Irish Gaelic language. This was very different from English,
the language that the immigrants would have to adapt to in their new home. Also, before the Great
Hunger, the potato was a staple in the diets of all the Irish people. The article Irish Roots: The Potatoes
Role in History Goes Far Beyond the Famine by George Ball says, For the Irish tenant farmers, with
barely an acre to cultivate, potatoes produced larger and more reliable yields than grains. The typical
Irish peasant ate from eight to 14 pounds of potatoes each day, providing 80 percent of caloric intake.
The potato s broad adoption transformed the Irish. Nearly the perfect

Comparing Poems Industrialization And Soft Rains
We came into this world and started to take over nature which, in the past, ruled the world itself. In the
poems industrialization by Oni and Soft Rains by Sara Teasdale, they both share the message that
nature s cycles will forever go on regardless of technology through the use of syntax and figurative
language.
In industrialization Oni demonstrates the overall idea of human unimportance by using sentence
structure. what is a human/ but a cosmic spec/ of semi wanderlust... . The sentence structure of the
previous quote helps prove the theme of human unimportance because every line of the poem does not

First, the third stanza the poem writes Robins will wear their feathery fire,/ Whistling their whims on a
low fence / Wire; . Alliteration is present in the lines that say feathery fire and whistling their whims
since they both use the same first letter as one another. This alliteration shows how nature does not
need humans in order for it to carry out its daily functions. Humans are not a necessary part of life, the
robins will still keep doing what they need to without the invasion of humans. In the last stanza, the
poem states And spring herself, when she woke at/ Dawn/ Would scarcely know that we were gone. .
This is an example of personification because it shows spring waking up and continuing her routine
which gives an inanimate object a human characteristic. This stanza also helps prove the theme of the
unimportance of humans since the quote is saying that spring arouse and did not even notice the lack
of existence of humans. The quotes above use figurative language to relate the theme of human
unimportance to nature carrying on its normal responsibility. Both show that nature does not need
human interference to continue with

The second largest consumer of California water is public supply. Public supply has to do with both
public and private water suppliers, which provide water to others. Public supply water usages would
have to deal with domestic, commercial, industrial purposes, and public serves such as pool, parks,
firefighting, etc. Public water supply plays a huge role in many counties, and communities. The reason
why is because the public water supply systems that are located in these counties/communities are
government or facilities that are privately run. These public water supply systems are what provides

What Is Calypso A Motif In The Odyssey
1. In Homer s, The Odyssey, the character, Calypso, is represented by the archetype of the temptress.
For example, in the given quote, Then each one s hands went out on each one s feast until they had
had their pleasure. , demonstrates the fact that Calypso has the power to seduce Odysseus even if he
had no feelings towards her. As in every other story featuring a temptress, Calypso has power to attract
the hero. Her intentions lie in entrapping Odysseus in order to gain company. Often because of the
intentions to trap, temptresses are seemingly dangerous or deviant or evil in the eyes of their prey.

In Homer s, The Odyssey, Greek hospitality is demonstrated in the sections of the Cyclops.
Expectations in Greek hospitality include, not only being graciously welcomed into the home of

Human Right Act, 1998
We should learn to accept people for who they are, what they believe in, their cultures and lifestyle
choices. We should also accept individuals as unique persons by treating them with respect and
dignity; by identifying their needs and preferences. Without these, it may lead to labelling or name
calling and derogatory remarks. Victims of domestic violence in refugee and ethno cultural
communities which are not mainstream, often face additional challenges and barriers in escaping the
domestic violence they are experiencing. Religion plays a vital role in that factor. Everybody has the
right to worship whichever way they want to worship. Human Right Act, 1998. Vulnerable people
have the right to privacy and protection from harm. Invasion of privacy is also an issue in residential
homes where some staff members do not knock before entering a resident s room.

Animal Experimentation Essay
Animals suffer just as people do. In 2009 animal experimentation was the cause of over 1.13 million
animals, excluding small rodents, suffering in U.S. Laboratories (U.S. Department of Agriculture,
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service). Animal experimentation is unethical, unnecessary and
expensive; alternative methods of testing should be utilized. It is unethical to use the cruel methods of
animal experimentation for our own benefit alone. The animals used in research range from birds,
dogs, cats, and pigs to name a few. So many innocent creatures put up with the immense pain so that
science experiments can be made and new products can be put on the shelves. Many of the animals

markets and distributes the so called EA games. The man behind Electronic Arts Inc is Trip Hawkins
who hired designers and programmers to develop EA games as early as 1982. During that time, the
company developed only home computing games that laid the foundation of today s EA games which
include the Battlefield series and Need for Speed. EA essentially had a smooth run to become a
successful video game business compared to other companies such as Activision who struggled in the
beginning. EA today is still one of the biggest successful gaming companies ... Show more content on

EA has made rough decisions to try and make things work while Activision improved their direction
to overtake the lead in the video game industry.
Rivalry among these firms is weakened because the market is fast growing, the number of firms is
great thus diminishing the effect of strong competitive moves, and the product lines are highly
differentiated and appeal to a variety of diverse segments. Porters strategy simply states An
organization that pursues a differentiation strategy seeks to distinguish itself from competitors through
the quality of its products or services (Griffin 211). EA competes with Activision with video games on
the basis of differentiation where it shows how EA s loss of interest of their video game development
gained the popularity of Activision as they went along to gain leadership in the video game
development world.
3) How would you use the Miles and Snow typology theory to advise Activision Blizzard on the best
way to maintain its leadership in the video game market?
Miles and Snow argued that companies develop their adaptive strategies based on their perception of
their environments. It s broken down into three parts of strategies. The first

Food Digestion Research Paper
Digestion begins when one sees food. Upon seeing food the brain sends signals for the salivary glands
to release saliva. When food is first placed into the mouth by taking a bite it is masticated and broken
down to increase the surface area so that food can be digested faster, as well as allowing it to be
swallowed. While being masticated food is moistened with saliva, which contains Amylase, which
begins the process of breaking down carbohydrates. Once thoroughly chewed saliva forms the food
into a clump, which is called a bolus. Once food is chewed and formed into a bolus the tongue pushes
the food to the back of the mouth into the throat so that it can be swallowed. Swallowing occurs by
reflexes opening and closing the epiglottis, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bile that is released is produced by the liver, which then fills the bile duct before overflowing and
then being stored in the gallbladder, which then allows it into the duodenum through a duct. In
between meals the gallbladder absorbs water and electrolytes from the bile. The bile that is released is
used to emulsify fats, which is to make the fats separate into small droplets. This allows them to be
mixed with water and then acted upon by enzymes to further help their digestion. It is easier for the
lipids to be broken down once they are emulsified because they are smaller and the lipase can attack it
more completely. Bile itself is a green colored fluid that is made of minerals, cholesterol, neutral fats,
phospholipids, bile acids also called bile salts, and bile pigments. Bilirubin is what gives the color to
the bile, and it is produced from the decomposition of hemoglobin as previously stated. Bile acids are
steroids that are formed from cholesterol. Both bile acid and lecithin, which is a phospholipid, help
digest and absorb fats. Anything else that is in bile is waste that will be excreted. In the end however
around eighty percent of the bile acids are reabsorbed in the ileum, which is the last section of the
small intestine, and they are returned to the liver where they are absorbed and re secreted by
hepatocytes. The circle of secretion and reabsorption is called the enterohepatic

Has NASA really benefited any of us when $3 billion of taxpayer money? The annual of budget of

Single Life Altering Event Analysis
Question #1a The single life altering event that has happened to me was entering a long term
relationship. Many often wonder how their life has changed when they add another person to it, but
for myself, it impacted my life in a very big way. I used to rarely do activities with friends, as I would
mostly do activities by myself. I was always okay with being alone, however, when I met my
boyfriend everything changed. We started spending every waking minute with each other and doing
activities that we equally liked doing. It became more of a partnership than anything. This changed my
leisure pattern because now I rely on my partner and what he is doing, as well as plan any and all my

Jeanne Duprau s The People Of Sparks
Before reading The People of Sparks, I was very skeptical on how the book would compare to City of
Ember which was the first book in the series. But after reading the book I was very pleased with how
Jeanne Duprau developed the main characters by giving them realistic struggles like how Doon was
struggling to control his anger issues, and how Lina s curiosity and rash decision making still tended
to cause trouble. Which leads to the next reason why enjoyed the book which was because it stays true
to its original characters, and puts them in an entirely different situation. In the first book Lina and
Doon who are the main protagonists in the book had to find their way out of Ember because of its

Analyzing Zizek s Concept Of The Passion For Real
6. Examine Zizek s concept of the passion for the Real in relation to the events of September 11, 2001.
BBC News reports on September 11, 2001 (9/11) there were multiple attacks by Al Qaeda terrorists in
America (p.1). The planes crashed into the main building of the New York City (NY): World trade
centre (WTC) and Pentagon. As a result about 3000 people died during this event. BBC (2015)
identified it as symbolic violence. (p.1). The ramifications of this event were reported by media
presenting drastic images/videos of building collapsing, fire, people jumping off the building, etc. The
media presented the video constantly over and over when the plane crashed into the WTC (Baudains,
2013). Zizek (2002) emphasis on the imagery symbolic reality of everyday experience as a feature of
the twentieth century. Zizek (2002) applies his concept Passion for real to critically examine the
consequences of the 9/11 event. He explains Passion for real is a desire to perceive things in a more
realistic way. For him Real is what you achieve when you peel off the subtle layers of outside
world/reality. He argues that the concept of Real is driven by hollowness and is not presentable. The
passion of for real is to search and explore for reliability destined to fail the situation, as the real is
given a symbolic form. He believes that when informed about events like 9/11 by news the only
experience of reality we have is through the videos and photographs that are

Known as one of the oldest of the 30 plus Master of Fine Arts (MFA) dance programs, the Department
of Dance presented Confluence on Feb. 25, 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Mather

Potter, and a solo created by CWRU alumni Christopher Bell. Compared with other three dance
performances, 祭 rite 祭 by Ziying Cui and Untitled Chopin Solo by Christopher Bell formulated
strong sentiments about life and people. Solemn facial expressions, rapid changed music rhythms and
story telling plots blended in tensions and dramatics to the performances.

There were two impressive uses of bell ring in祭 rite 祭. The first one was before the dance began. A
sudden bell sound was a shock to the audience and it attracted people s attention to the performance,
while the second one was after the protagonist kneeled with other dancers clapping their hands.
However, the second bell ring was a warning of the protagonist s leave, because she seemed very
shock and sad after hearing the sound, and she even took several step back to show how surprise she
was. Other dancers on the stage also made reactions to the bell ring: they all turned to look at her and
farewell by making eye contact with her. Therefore, since a ritual includes actions by specific order,

overcome the challenges are as follows:
(a) The security situation remains as a challenge to operate humanitarian actions including conduct
vaccination activities, campaign for vaccination, smooth delivery of the programmes and emergency
assistance packages.
The security challenges in operating humanitarian actions and its consequences should be
communicated to the Government as well as to the Militias groups through media and all other

(e) Access to information remains a challenge in reopening of the schools.
Adequate campaign through the local leaders and local NGOs and CBOs and local media campaign
could reduce the information gaps and well as over this challenge.
(f) Obtaining reliable and updated IDP population figures is a significant challenge.
This challenge could be overcome through developing a database and conducting rapid survey to the
IDP camps both inside and outside the country. I think estimating the IDP population is important for a
reliable and effective plan for both humanitarian as well as long term development interventions.
(g) Another major challenge is accessing information on human rights violations and collecting
protection related information.
Awareness raising of the community leaders is very important in strengthening protection as well as
accessing information on human rights violations. Training could be organized for the community
leaders and volunteers on t his issue as well as local NGOs and CBOs could be supported for
collecting information and provide support to the victims of violence.
(h) Draughts also affecting in increasing local food production and to reduce the burden of external
food aids.

production so that Government and humanitarian agencies prepare advance plan to overcome the

In Emily Brontë s only book Wuthering Heights, her descriptions of the two houses Wuthering
Heights and Thrushcross Grange create distinct atmospheres that mirror the actions of the inhabitants
that reside within them. Although they lie within miles of each other, they are two very different
places. Never have two more opposing places existed than Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering

Brontë has apposed them in every way, even the names indicate what kind of house we should expect.
The beautiful and well kept Thrushcross Grange can be viewed as a haven when compared to the
chaotic Wuthering Heights. Wuthering Heights symbolizes the anger, hatred and deep felt tension of
that house while Thrushcross Grange embodies the superficial feelings and materialistic outlook of its
inhabitants. The contrast between the houses is more than physical; rather these two houses represent
the people which are living in them. Brontë made Heathcliff and Wuthering Height as one, by making
both of them cold, dark, and menacing, similar to the storms which constantly surround both
Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights. Thrushcross Grange is parallel with the Linton s; who are of a
welcoming and peaceful manner; who have had virtually perfect lives and who have been hidden by
their parents, from the evils of the outside world. It is clear, that in Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights
both Thrushcross Grange and Wuthering Heights are two very different places. While the Grange can
be seen as beautiful and elegant, it can also be viewed as unnatural and materialized; and while
Wuthering Heights seems unfriendly and unkempt no fair decisions can be made when it is compared

Kurtney Friar Profanity Analysis
After, Kourtney Friar evaluates her daily habits and she finds that she uses an excessive amount of
profanity. Profanities also known as swear words, cuss words, bad words, cursing, taboo etc. Profanity
can be a word, expression, gesture, or other social behavior which is socially constructed or
interpreted as insulting, rude or bad mannered, or violating or showing disrespect toward an object of
religious veneration. Profanity affected an individual usually in childhood, along with many other
social issues. As children, people are punished by parents when they use profanity, and at that stage
most learned that certain phrases must be avoided. When people grow older and mature, we learn the

Cushings Syndrome Essay
Cushing s Syndrome
Cushing s Syndrome is a condition that results from chronic exposure to excessive amounts of
glucocorticoids circulating in the blood stream for an extended period of time. The disease was first
reported by Harvey Cushing over one hundred years ago, yet the condition still plagues
endocrinologists today. Reasons for this difficulty include the vast amount of often vague symptoms
that the syndrome presents, most of which are found in a plethora of other conditions as well,
combined with the multiple forms that the condition can manifest itself. Symptoms of Cushings
Syndrome include, but are not limited to, weight gain, hirutism, easy bruising, hypertension, acne,

With Cushings syndrome, this cycle is disrupted, resulting in an excess of circulating cortisol. There
are multiple mechanisms that can disrupt the cycle and they can be classified as either ACTH
dependent or ACTH independent Cushings Syndrome. The most common form of Cushings Syndome
is an ACTH dependent form called Cushings Disease. This type accounts for two thirds of cushings
syndrome and is the result of either an adenoma or carcinoma on the pituitary gland. The tumor causes
overproduction of ACTH, resulting in increased release of cortisol from the adrenal gland. ACTH
dependent Cushings Syndrome can also result from ectopic tumors that cause overproduction of
ACTH or CRH. The most frequent is small cell lung carcinoma (12% of patients develop Cushings
syndrome). A final type of ACTH dependent cushings syndrome is from exogenous ACTH
administration, typically the use of synthetic steroids. ACTH independent Cushings Syndrome
typically originates from abnormalities of the adrenal gland. Adrenal adenoma and adrenal carcinoma
occur when there is a benign or cancerous tumor on the adrenal gland. These tumors can cause over
production of cortisol, disrupting homeostasis. Other diseases like Carney complex and McCune
Albright syndrome have also been associated with abnormalities of the adrenal gland, causing
overproduction of cortisol. A final form of cushings syndrome is exogenous glucocorticoid
administration.

An Analysis Of Calvin s Argument For Providence
AN ANALYSIS OF CALVIN S ARGUMENT FOR PROVIDENCE
Calvin on Providence In a time of chaos, the words, God is in control, can bring peace to believers and
non believers alike. This phrase has found its way to bumper stickers, Hallmark cards, and Facebook
post, and in many ways it has become a junk drawer phrase one that we pull out when we need a
comforting cliché. When pandemonium breaks loose and we seem to have lost all control, then it is
convenient for God to be in control. But what about when things are not? What if things are relatively
normal. What does it mean for God to be sovereign? This is the question that has perhaps caused more
controversy than any other. For John Calvin, God was completely sovereign. Nothing outside the will
of God could take place, because everything that has taken place, is taking place, or will take place has
been divinely ordained before time began. God is the source of all good, and evil cannot take place
without His permission. According to Calvin, all of humankind are lost in their sins, and so depraved
that they are incapable of finding salvation without God performing an inner miracle within them.
This being said, God has elected to Himself a chosen people from the beginning of time, not off of
merit, but sola gratia.
In Chapter 17 of Book I of Calvin s Institutes of the Christian Religion, Calvin expounds upon how
when it comes to Calvin s view of providence, nothing is more profitable than the knowledge of this

Sixteen years later Amsterdam returns to Five Points and retrieves the knife used to kill his father, that
he had hidden before leaving New York. Amsterdam is later introduced to Bill, who is the leader of all

The Communication Model Of Interpersonal Communication
Passing another student on the way to class and gesturing with a friendly wave, interacting with a
server in a local restaurant, or discussing ideas and pop culture with a roommate all seem like entirely
unrelated, daily interactions that happen in a typical college student s day. However, each daily
interaction, whether in the life of a college student or other person, follows a specific pattern of order
that helps people to perceive and interact with the environment and other individual around them. This
process, known as the communication model, is an important facet of human interaction that helps to
explain the processes involved in communicating with people and that helps to reveal important
details about effective interpersonal communication.
The communication model consists of eight different parts, which as they apply to every interpersonal
reaction, are often referred to as universals. Perhaps, the first and most important universal of
communication is the message, or the idea one tries to communicate to another in a conversation or
interaction. As every interaction hinges around a central message, all the other elements of the
communication model revolve around the sending and/or receiving of the message itself. Therefore,
the individual who sends a message to another is known as the sender, while the individual who
receives the message is referred to as the receiver. For example, when alarm clock pierces the early
morning silence, it becomes the sender, communicating a message to the person who hears its shrill
tones, the receiver, that he or she should wake up.
However, the communication process does not end with the reception of the message. Oftentimes, the
receiver responds to the sender of the message, which is called feedback, and prompts the continuation
of the communication process. Continuing with the previous example, after a sleeping person hears an
alarm clock, he or she responds to its message most often by letting out an audible gasp of dread or by
forcefully pressing the snooze button, which prompts the alarm to issue a second message, either of
momentary silence or of continued noise. In this way, both the sender and receiver transmit messages
to one another, playing both roles in

Theme Of Antixism In The Merchant Of Venice
The play, The Merchant of Venice, written by William Shakespeare thought to be written around 1596
7, is set in Venice and in Belmont. There are several examples of anti Semitism, anti Christianity and
human behaviour in extremis, throughout the play. This statement will be substantiated with the
following arguments; how the Christians treat Jews, mainly Shylock, and Shylock seeking a pound of
flesh from a Christian character. A variety of speeches from the characters will also add to these
arguments.
According to Dictionary.com, anti Semitism is the discrimination against or prejudice toward Jews,
(Dictionary.com, 2016). Conflict has existed between Christianity and Judaism since Biblical times,
(Katz, 1996). By law the Jews were obliged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lorenzo believes that Christianity is the only religion that is powerful enough to admit one into
heaven and therefore Lorenzo is predisposed against Shylock the Jew, when he says; If e er the Jew

implying that if Shylock is saved, it is only because of his daughter, Jessica, who converts from
Judaism to Christianity.
In Act III, scene i, Shylock says, Hath not a Jew eyes , If you prick us do we not bleed? (Shakespeare,
1597), he reminds the Christians that all people, even the Jews are human and he reasons that a Jew is
equipped with the same abilities and emotions as a Christian. Shylock s behaviour and desire for
revenge exposes the injustice and intolerance of the society in which he lives, (Gibson, 2005). Shylock
s speech, For sufferance is the badge of all our tribe (Shakespeare, 1597), indicates the prejudiced
treatment the Jews had to endure. Shylock and the other Jews are portrayed as victims of racism.
Portia also displays anti Semitic behaviour when Shylock has to give up his Jewish religion and
convert to Christianity as a punishment for wanting Antonio s flesh. (Balser,

The Effects Of Hearing Loss On A Child s Life
Hearing loss can have one of the biggest impacts on a child s life. Hearing is an essential tool used to
learn language; without the ability to hear, a child is missing out on key aspects that will help them
learn language. This is why it is crucial that hearing loss is detected early on, because the earlier it is
treated, the more likely the child is to develop listening and spoken language skills appropriate for
their age. Children that are born deaf are already at a disadvantage as the typical child is born with
around 20 weeks of listening experience already. It is important that we are proactive in identifying
children s hearing loss early, while their brain s neuroplasticity is still the greatest. Essentially,
children are in a race ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essay 2 Hearing aids are small devices that have made a huge impact on the hearing impaired. There
are four main parts that make up a hearing aid. First, there is the microphone; the microphone changes
acoustic signals into electric signals. An omnidirectional microphone picks up noise coming from all
directions, where as a directional microphone focuses on sound coming from a certain direction in
order to improve the signal to noise ratio. The next main part is the amplifier. The amplifier increases
the power of the converted signal where the receiver then converts the electric signals back to acoustic
signals and sends it through the ear mold into the ear. The last part of the hearing aid is the battery.
The battery is likely the most important part, as without the battery, the hearing aid would just act as a
really large ear plug. Hearing aids are an important piece of technology as they help individuals with a
hearing loss receive auditory input they might not otherwise hear. The technology inside a hearing aid
is capable of isolating certain sounds and amplifying them so that an individual with a hearing loss
that prevents them from hearing those sounds is now more likely to hear them. This is very important
for children. Children with hearing loss may be able to

Walnuts Descriptive Writing
The icy cold air assisted in my throat tightening as we headed towards Christchurch hospital. In the
distance, I could see the fluorescent red sign plastered against the empty black sky it seemed to call
my name. The old worn out warehouse slippers I wore on my feet were persistent at falling off with
every step I took meaning keeping up with my mum was a mission in itself.
I thought back to earlier in the night it all started when I sunk my teeth into the sickly sweet fudge
unaware of what the icing was concealing from my sight. The Walnuts weaselling their way past my
lips and into my stomach at which point it was too late.
The Emergency building was brightly lit, making my head spin for a few seconds until my eyes

Effect of Sucrose Molarity on Potato Tuber Weight
Using Sucrose Solutions to Determine Osmolarity of Potato Tubers Based on Weight
By Thomas Pelikan
Biology 200A
Section 004
Kimberly Schmidt
October 2, 2012
Abstract:
In this experiment we were trying to determine the osmolarity of potato tubers by weighing them
before and after incubating them in solutions of sucrose with varying molarities. To find the
osmolarity we took a potato and used a cork borer to obtain seven samples of potato tubers. We then
prepared seven beakers with concentrations of sucrose ranging from 0.0M to 0.6M. After weighing the
potato tubers one by one we cut them in half and placed each halved tuber into each beaker. We
incubated them for 1 hour, stirring every 10 minutes. After one hour we removed the ... Show more

The control treatment was beaker 1 which contained only DI water. There was no repetition to this
experiment.
Results:
The purpose of this experiment was to incubate potato tubers in solutions with increasing molarities of
sucrose to determine osmolarity based on the weight of the potato tubers before and after incubation.
After removing the potato tubers from the beakers, we weighed the pieces and recorded the weights.
We then observed the weight change and percent change in weight of the potatoes. In every
concentration of sucrose the weight of the potato tubers increased, with the largest change in weight
being in the 0.2M solution of sucrose with a change of 9.5%. The smallest change in weight was in the
0.4M solution of sucrose; the change in weight was 0.47% (Table 1). The percent change in weight of
the potato tubers started high at 0.0M with a change of 4.3% and decreased to 2.4% at 0.1M, then
increased dramatically to 9.5% at 0.2M. It decreased again to 0.48% at 0.3M then again to 0.47% at
0.4M. At 0.5M it increased to 3.5%, and then at 0.6M the weight change decreased again to 1.0%. The
percent change of weight generally decreased from 0.0M to 0.4M, and both 0.5M and 0.6M are
increases from 0.4M (Figure 1).
Table 1. Using initial weight, final weight, weight change, and percent change in weight of potato
tubers after incubation in varying solutions of sucrose molarity

Beltane Research Paper
Beltane is the season on the ancient Celtic calendar that marks the beginning of the light half of the
year. The season comes between May 1 and June 21. During this season, there is Gaelic festival,
Samhain that marks the beginning of the winter and the end of the harvest season. Samhain represents
another powerful moment for future divining, as there is a thin barrier between the spirit and reality
worlds. According to the Celtic people, Beltane marks the time of sacred alchemical marriage between
god Bael, their solar father and goddess Danu, their earth mother. Moreover, the marriage and the
intercourse of Bael, the solar father and Danu the earth mother is symbolized by the performance of
the Maypole dance during this season. Therefore, we celebrate our earthly parents and their
intercourse that created us during this time of the year. This is a special moment to celebrate fertility
and mating all over the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a season similar to Samhain as the doorways between worlds are wide open. Moreover,
children conceived during orgiastic rituals on Beltane were believed to have the divine energies of the
earthly parents. These children were seen to have magical and special abilities. The archetypes of Bael
and Danu are represented in Beltane rituals by always incorporating the crowning of a May Queen and
May King. Therefore, this season marks the most favorable moment for engagements and marriages.
Symbols and Energies for the Season of Beltane Beltane is a season that is associated with a number
of symbols and energies such as the fire, southeast direction and the summer season. The serpent and a
rabbit, Hawthorne plant, red and white colors and the kingdom of the fire and the salamanders, also
symbolize the season. Besides, the season is associated with the dark or lunar stage, midday or high
noon and a spear as the sacred tool. Beltane s

The Necessity Of Radical Reconstruction The necessity of Radical Reconstruction The Radical Reconstruction was a time of prosperity followed by the loss of all effort made to improve the country s social and political life. Why was it necessary for it to happen? After the Civil War had ended a period of Reconstruction was in mind, but failed to succeed. President Andrew Johnson s principle was that the South never had a right to succeed. He also believed that blacks should not have any role in the Reconstruction. Johnson appointed provisional governors and ordered them to call state conventions to establish a new, all white government. Radical Republicans believed that people of all skin color had the right to be equal. In their opinion, blacks should have the same political opportunities and rights like the whites do. The Roaring Twenties were marked by a bit of a government corruption, mostly an outcome of the administration of Warren G. Harding. In this song the tone color was soft throughout the whole song. He played a quiet but sweet guitar sound. He sang the song in a low pitch without ever getting loud which made the song have more emotion. I believe there was compression used on this song because in some parts of the song where he is singing in a higher pitch the music never got any louder. Furthermore, reverb was used as well because as you listen to the music you can hear the acoustic guitar reflection even after he has played the note. This song fits perfect into John Mayer s singing and guitar playing style. His style is singing in a soft tone that is sweet and not very loud and this song fits that perfectly. In addition, he plays his guitar and highlights his skills in some parts of the song which is what he likes to do in many of his songs. Mayer also sings with a lot of emotion and this song you can just feel the emotion in the guitar and his voice. The emotion that Mayer sings with is something that is really phenomenal about his musical style. In this song, his message is that parents should spend time and love on your children and show them how to love because one day they will be parents themselves. He highlights how relationships are important and parents should lead by example so that their children will have good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the advent of the postmodern Earth, however, young nations are striving headstrong into the practice of cultural unification to cope with the massive influx of interconnectivity between nations, cultures, and peoples. In doing so they neglect people s cultural that have stood for hundreds of years. Salman Rushdie, a man exposed firsthand to cultural hubs all over the globe, writes using dream like magical sequences to allow him to explore the inner workings of the transcultural man. In doing so, he uses the cultural connotations of the images to convey the chaos and surrealism of the modern world. In Midnight s Children and Satanic Verses, Salman Rushdie aptly applies magical realism and religious parallels to convey the internal struggle of reconciling self determination with cultural heritage. Through the character Saladin Chamcha s arc in The Satanic Verses, Rushdie illustrates the internal turmoil that results from denying one s cultural roots in favor of a self determined identity. Chamcha, an Indian British citizen, is molested at the age of thirteen and has an estranged relationship with his father. This trade agreement helped greatly improve economic disputes that these countries once faced before. NAFTA has affected the countries in different ways. While the elementary school provided a short description of their emergency procedures, it stated that more information could be found in the Crisis Management Plan (also included in the Staff Handbook). What s strange is that although a crisis management plan has been created, fire drills were not better described nor mentioned all; not even the sound signal to look for. This would have not happened if there were not many prominent events in the years since it was created. Eight events that have happened in the Muslim community are the first revelation, the Hijrah, the change in the direction of prayer, the taking of Mecca, Abu Bakr becoming the first caliph and his important few years of rule, and the rule of the Safavid Empire. The First Revelation happened on 17 Ramadan, 610 C.E.. Muhammad was fasting and praying in a cave at the peak of Mount Hira as was his custom for that time of year. On that night, he awoke and was overtaken by a powerful force. He struggled with the force and eventually succumbed to it. Muhammad started speaking in Arabic. This scripture was the first words of what would later be known as The Qur an. This event was the origin of Islam. Muhammad had just received a line with a divine figure, who would later be known as Allah, and that would change the world. The First Revelation was the start of the religion known as Islam. Twelve years after The First Revelation, in 622 C.E., there was a great migration of Muslim families from Mecca to Yathrib, which became known as al Medinah. This is known as The Hijrah, and was the start of the Muslim era. The Hijrah upset the Quraysh because the new Muslim families had turned their back on their tribe and became a part of Muhammad s tribe, sharing common ideals instead of blood. The ... The bile that is released is produced by the liver, which then fills the bile duct before overflowing and then being stored in the gallbladder, which then allows it into the duodenum through a duct. In between meals the gallbladder absorbs water and electrolytes from the bile. The bile that is released is used to emulsify fats, which is to make the fats separate into small droplets. This allows them to be mixed with water and then acted upon by enzymes to further help their digestion. It is easier for the lipids to be broken down once they are emulsified because they are smaller and the lipase can attack it more completely. Bile itself is a green colored fluid that is made of minerals, cholesterol, neutral fats, phospholipids, bile acids also called bile salts, and bile pigments. Bilirubin is what gives the color to the bile, and it is produced from the decomposition of hemoglobin as previously stated. Bile acids are steroids that are formed from cholesterol. The most common form of Cushings Syndome is an ACTH dependent form called Cushings Disease. This type accounts for two thirds of cushings syndrome and is the result of either an adenoma or carcinoma on the pituitary gland. The tumor causes overproduction of ACTH, resulting in increased release of cortisol from the adrenal gland. ACTH dependent Cushings Syndrome can also result from ectopic tumors that cause overproduction of ACTH or CRH. The most frequent is small cell lung carcinoma (12% of patients develop Cushings syndrome). • 35. An Analysis Of Calvin s Argument For Providence AN ANALYSIS OF CALVIN S ARGUMENT FOR PROVIDENCE Calvin on Providence In a time of chaos, the words, God is in control, can bring peace to believers and non believers alike. This phrase has found its way to bumper stickers, Hallmark cards, and Facebook post, and in many ways it has become a junk drawer phrase one that we pull out when we need a comforting cliché. When pandemonium breaks loose and we seem to have lost all control, then it is convenient for God to be in control. But what about when things are not? What if things are relatively normal. What does it mean for God to be sovereign? This is the question that has perhaps caused more controversy than any other. For John Calvin, God was completely sovereign. Nothing outside the will of God could take place, because everything that has taken place, is taking place, or will take place has been divinely ordained before time began. God is the source of all good, and evil cannot take place without His permission. According to Calvin, all of humankind are lost in their sins, and so depraved that they are incapable of finding salvation without God performing an inner miracle within them. This being said, God has elected to Himself a chosen people from the beginning of time, not off of merit, but sola gratia. In Chapter 17 of Book I of Calvin s Institutes of the Christian Religion, Calvin expounds upon how when it comes to Calvin s view of providence, nothing is more profitable than the knowledge of this ... • 37. The Communication Model Of Interpersonal Communication Passing another student on the way to class and gesturing with a friendly wave, interacting with a server in a local restaurant, or discussing ideas and pop culture with a roommate all seem like entirely unrelated, daily interactions that happen in a typical college student s day. However, each daily interaction, whether in the life of a college student or other person, follows a specific pattern of order that helps people to perceive and interact with the environment and other individual around them. This process, known as the communication model, is an important facet of human interaction that helps to explain the processes involved in communicating with people and that helps to reveal important details about effective interpersonal communication. The communication model consists of eight different parts, which as they apply to every interpersonal reaction, are often referred to as universals. Perhaps, the first and most important universal of communication is the message, or the idea one tries to communicate to another in a conversation or interaction. As every interaction hinges around a central message, all the other elements of the communication model revolve around the sending and/or receiving of the message itself. Therefore, the individual who sends a message to another is known as the sender, while the individual who receives the message is referred to as the receiver. For example, when alarm clock pierces the early morning silence, it becomes the sender, communicating a message to the person who hears its shrill tones, the receiver, that he or she should wake up. However, the communication process does not end with the reception of the message. Oftentimes, the receiver responds to the sender of the message, which is called feedback, and prompts the continuation of the communication process. Continuing with the previous example, after a sleeping person hears an alarm clock, he or she responds to its message most often by letting out an audible gasp of dread or by forcefully pressing the snooze button, which prompts the alarm to issue a second message, either of momentary silence or of continued noise. In this way, both the sender and receiver transmit messages to one another, playing both roles in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hearing is an essential tool used to learn language; without the ability to hear, a child is missing out on key aspects that will help them learn language. This is why it is crucial that hearing loss is detected early on, because the earlier it is treated, the more likely the child is to develop listening and spoken language skills appropriate for their age. Children that are born deaf are already at a disadvantage as the typical child is born with around 20 weeks of listening experience already. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay 2 Hearing aids are small devices that have made a huge impact on the hearing impaired. There are four main parts that make up a hearing aid. First, there is the microphone; the microphone changes acoustic signals into electric signals. An omnidirectional microphone picks up noise coming from all directions, where as a directional microphone focuses on sound coming from a certain direction in order to improve the signal to noise ratio. The next main part is the amplifier. The amplifier increases the power of the converted signal where the receiver then converts the electric signals back to acoustic signals and sends it through the ear mold into the ear. The last part of the hearing aid is the battery. The battery is likely the most important part, as without the battery, the hearing aid would just act as a really large ear plug. Hearing aids are an important piece of technology as they help individuals with a hearing loss receive auditory input they might not otherwise hear. The technology inside a hearing aid is capable of isolating certain sounds and amplifying them so that an individual with a hearing loss that prevents them from hearing those sounds is now more likely to hear them. This is very important for children. Children with hearing loss may be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
