The Importance Of Body Temperature And Thermoregulation
The human body is capable of many checks and balances throughout the numerous systems. From
fluid and electrolytes, perfusion, to skin integrity the body can auto regulate and maintain balance,
while assisting thermoregulation of the body. Thermoregulation is controlled by the hypothalamus,
which is considered the thermostat center of the body (Giddens 88).
The normal body temperature is 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Any influence of extreme
environmental conditions, intense exercise, disease or infection that allow the body temperature to
waver from the normal core temperature can affect thermoregulation. Hypothermia occurs when the
body temperature decreases below 97 degrees, hyperthermia is when body temperature is in excess
of 100 degrees. The ideal goal for all ages would be normothermia, which is the normal range of 97
to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
By teaching the older that their decreased ability of regulating their body temperature will affect
their thermoregulation. By educating them of their inability to sweat efficiently, declined
circulation, and a decreased vasoconstrictive response to shivering, and slower metabolic rate all
hinder their thermoregulation. Teaching would consist of adjusting clothing and attire according to
the outside temperature, or if they stay indoors to set their indoor thermometer to 72 degrees. If
they do not have air conditioning to keep windows open and a fan blowing. Dress in layers in
colder temperatures and to keep their head

Pink Vs Kim Kardashian Essay
The Pink vs. Kim Kardashian feud is finally getting some splaining from one of the alpha
females. Pink spilled the beans about her Twitter quarrel with Kim over that infamous nude
bathroom selfie. And according to People, Pink is not walking back her attack on Kim. Pink,
real name, Alecia Beth Moore, recently appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live with
Andy Cohen. Based on the show s format, during the Plead The Fifth segment, the person in the
hot seat is asked three questions, of which they can choose to pass on one. The WWHL host asked
Pink a burning question that s been on the minds of many fans. When you tweeted women using
their brains not their body for attention, were you trying to throw some shade at Kim Kardashian
or was that people on Twitter jumping to conclusions? Cohen asked. The Just Like A Pill singer got
candid and revealed the mystery behind her year long feud (and growing) with Kim Kardashian....

Kim Kardashian nearly broke the internet with her raunchy

These include the great toe or hallux on the hind feet. This helps the kangaroo grasp onto branches
as it climbs The leaves of the eucalyptus tree hang vertically. This is to reduce the amount of
sunlight the tree is exposed to reducing transpiration.
PhysiologicalThe Musky Rat Kangaroo have similar adaptions to sheep and goats. They have a
large fore stomach where with the use of particular bacteria and fungi they break down the plant
fibre in a fermentative chamber. The leaves of the eucalyptus tree contain toxic chemical
compounds. As a result only few animals are able to consume the leaves, therefore giving the tree a
better chance of survival.
Behavioral The Musky Rat Kangaroo feeds on leaves and fruit instead of grass as it lives up in
trees as well as the fact that the kangaroos main predators live on the grounds of the rainforest
and so being an arboreal animal makes it so they do not need to go to the ground. The eucalyptus
tree releases its seeds after a fire. This is because there are all the nutrients now in the soil, often
known as the ash bed effect, for the seed to germinate. This gives the eucalyptus saplings less
competition because of those who could not survive after the fire. Therefore meaning the trees have
a higher chance of

Pseudonymity In The Book Of Daniel
Pseudonymity is the method of producing new compositions in the name of a famous deceased
author (Harris, 2014, p.2). This particular method was well known in the Hellenistic Jewish
community and among early Christian writers. Specifically, during 200 BCE to 200 CE, the
Jewish writers produced numerous books that were accredited to respected biblical figures that
included Daniel, Enoch, Noah, Solomon, and a host of others (Harris, 2014, p.387). Interestingly,
some of the books such as Book of Daniel were received into the Hebrew Biblecanon, while others
such as Enoch were not. Also, other writings that included the Wisdom of Solomon, Baruch, and
the apocalyptic 2 Esdras, were considered as deuterocanonical, a representation of the Old

Amelie Cultural Differences
As I re watched the film, I noticed several cultural differences. Some of the cultural differences
included: details, where they live, visuals, sound effects (music), photos, and clothing.
This film includes many details, including a scene of a blue fly that was capable of flapping 70
beats a minute and landed in Montmartre. In a restaurant, the wind made two glasses dance on a
tablecloth, which led to show how Amelie was born. Those scenes weren t necessary, but in the
French culture they might have been because they value the littlest things. It also shows how life in
France is. Being in France, I noticed that many people go to the Cafe, where Amelie works, they
also use telephone booths, and they all seem to live in apartments. Throughout the film, I ... Show

From what I saw, art is really important to them, there are pictures of art in many places during
the film. I also noticed a lot of buildings and stairs. As I kept watching the film, I realized that
pictures are really important in their culture. Some examples include: Amelie taking pictures of
shaped clouds, Nino having an album of pictures that he finds, and Amelie finding a box that
included important objects such as pictures and other materials. The visual of Amelie taking
pictures of shaped clouds shows how imagination plays a role in this film. I also noticed how
important a garden gnome was to Amelie s father. The gnome represented Amelie s father s dream
of traveling. Soon, Amelie takes the gnome and sends it to other places of the world, her father is
sent pictures of the gnome traveling and soon decides to travel himself. Another cultural difference
is the music, which is very happy and sometimes even sounds romantic. Equally important, the
clothes that most women wear including Amelie are a skirt with a blouse or t shirt and many of
them have short hair. Lastly, this film didn t focus a lot on history, economics, or politics. The only

Deism and Changes in Religious Tolerance in America Essay
Deism and Changes in Religious Tolerance in America
Religious conscience in America has evolved considerably since the first settlers emigrated here
from Europe. Primary settlements were established by Puritans and Pilgrims who believed their
errand into the wilderness [America] was above all else a religious errand, and all institutions town
meeting, school, church, family, law must faithfully reflect that fact (Gaustad 61). However, as
colonies grew, dissenters emerged to challenge Puritan authority; indeed, many of them left the
church to join untraditional religious sects such as the Ranters, the Seekers, the Quakers, the
Antinomians, and the Familists (Westbrook 26). Debates over softening the stance on tolerancein ...

Rejecting the assumption that God controls all actions on earth, most Deists believe that God
created the universe, [. . .] and then disassociated himself from his creation (Robinson 3). This
definition leads to the supposition that deistic thought was partly conceived out of scientific
discovery: a Darwinian takeover theory. Perhaps the nuances of scientific knowledge manifested a
directive in the argument for religious freedom. Certainly, Deist s supported what Benjamin
Franklin termed, spiritual Liberty, which asserted that no man ought to resign his Liberty, in
mak[ing] Choice of his Minister as his Judgement and Conscience direct him (qtd. in Walters,
Franklin 138). Thomas Paine, Deism s most notable advocate, maintains this line of thinking
saying, I do not believe in the creed professed by [. . .] any church that I know of, but, I do not
mean this declaration to condemn those who believe otherwise; they have the same right to their
belief as I have to mine (22). Religious tolerance would gain many formidable voices among
America s Founding Fathers, a development that poses a challenge to the harsh dogmatic attitude of
early Puritan leaders.
Intolerance for opposing views in religious matters was a renowned element in Puritanical practices
during the seventeenth century. Few persons had the courage to speak against church doctrine, as it
would certainly pronounce their expulsion. One such person, Roger Williams,

June 17 1782: I am 6 years old:
I woke up in the middle of the night because I heard my father (John) yelling at the general of the
military (Henry) about how our military was considered weak because the army he had
commanded during the American Revolution and it was not replaced. I only herd two things, but
they were extremely loud. They were: the government did not have the money and that
Americans learned that a standing national army could be used to take away their liberty. Once I

making the US double in size. The Louisiana territory was very important because farmers sailed
down the Mississippi river to New Orleans to sell their crops to other farmers and settlers.
Jackson once told me that Napoleons plan for the Louisiana territory was to have thousands of
French farmers settle there. There were some people who liked the purchase and some that didn
t. the people that liked it was because, the country has now doubled in size making there be
more room for settlement and that the whole Louisiana territory would be carved into new
states. The people who didn t like it was because they thought it would be impossible to govern,
and people thought that since it was such a huge country now that they could get their freedom
taken away. That night I was dreaming about how president Monroe ordered Jackson to Georgia
to end the raids, but instead he continued to Florida with 1,700 troops to try and arrest and
execute two British subjects. The next day I was making tea for president Jackson when he was
starting to tell me another story. That is 1819 the Spanish government agreed to yield Florida to
the US. But the US had to pay $5 million dollars in settlers. Also in return the US had to honor
Spain s longtime claim to Texas. It was such an interesting story that I had to find out what all the

World Of Warcraft Essay
Wowing of World of Warcraft My only audience experience in regard to audiences as producers

the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe. The first expansion set of the game,

The marvels behind this game helped me build up the nerve to ask him to let me give it a try for
myself. Keep in mind if you knew the addictive nature behind World of Warcraft it took him a
while to start sharing the PC we had to allow me to also to have some play time on his account.
Although once I was there is no possible to hide the fact that I was hooked as soon as I gave it a
try. In 2009 I finally came to a conclusion, I couldn t continue playing this game despite the
various expansions that were created after the original in 2004. As I decided to stop, I witnessed
my brothers continuing on without me. Along with this I started to build up the curiosity of how
much popularity this game has brought about, in order to build a demand for these expansions. It
then occurred to me that the fans of the game built the continuation of playing. Most commonly
we assume that we need to associate the concept of being a fan to a celebrity. After reading
through chapter 8: Media fandom and audiences subcultures I was able to come to a new
redefining aspect of looking at fans with the help of Jenkins and later scholars when indicating that
... fan audiences are deeply engaged in their favorite media texts. Fans often reinterpret media
content and create their own cultural productions in response. (Sullivan, p. 193). This constantly

Essay on The American Obesity Epidemic
More die in the United States of too much food than of too little ― John Kenneth Galbraith Why
are Americans getting bigger by the day? And what s so bad about that anyway? Studies have
shown that there are many negative effects associated with obesity. Obesity has been accused of
contributing to many long term conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure,
osteoarthritis, diabetes and cancer (Pennybacker 15). Along with the fact that obesity is the most
common form of malnutrition in the Western world, it also affects sixty four percent of Americans
(Pennybacker 15; Brownell 1). Obesity is one of today s most visible, yet neglected conditions
affecting more Americans each day. According to the

Many people sit all day in an office, and do not get much physical activity at all. The
conveniences and technology of today contribute to a very sedentary lifestyle for much of the
population. According to Food Fight, one study found that 23 percent of all deaths from major
chronic disease could be attributed to sedentary lifestyle (Brownell 70). The lack of exercise is
one of the main causes of obesity in the United States. Another possible contribution to obesity,
which is still in the process of being further researched, is genetics. According to the Office of
Genomics Disease Prevention, studies indicate that inherited genetic variation is an important
risk factor for obesity. It was also pointed out that genetic factors are starting to be questioned in
the degree of effectiveness of diet and physical activity interventions for weight reduction
(Obesity and Genetics I). Learning how genetic variations effect obesity will make it much easier
to prevent and treat the condition of obesity. In addition to the many different causes of obesity,
fast food receives much of the blame. With the continual growth of the fast food industry in the
United States, obesity is becoming a bigger problem everyday. The connection between fast food
and obesity is one of the primary criticisms in the book, Fast Food Nation, written by Eric
Schlosser. Due to the high calorie, high fat food choices offered at many

Tang And Song Dynasty And Neo-Confucianism
The Tang and Song dynasties are regarded as the Golden Age of Chinese history for its
revamped and complex political system, a massive boom in economy and production, and an
influx of various religions that made it a diverse time period. This turn in Chinese history was
made possible by the switch from subsistence farming, in which people farmed only as much as
they needed, to a more industrial farming, where they produced for the whole state. This allowed
certain people to specialize in certain topics. Rather than needing to be hunters, farmers, and
warriors all by themselves, people would specialize in hunting, farming, or fighting. This allowed
for a boom in skill; in the modern world, a person who learned about fluid mechanics would be...

It was diverse, and very populous, with a capital with a population of over one million. A
government census recorded 53 million people, which did not include people who were exempt
from tax (nobles, officials, clergy, minorities, and the poor). Chang an and Luoyang and southern
ports such as Guangzhou (Canton), Yangzhou and cities in modern Fujian Province were filled
with international merchants, including Muslims from Persia, Arabs, Uighurs, and Jews. These
people brought with them religions such as Islam, Judaism, Nestorian Christianity, Manichaeism,
and Zoroastrianism to China. They also brought their food, music, dance, and poetry, which
influenced Tang China greatly. All land was technically owned by the government, and to
distribute it, each male received 80 mou of land (slightly more than 10 acres). There were ways
one could gain more land, and at 60 years old, he would be exempt from taxes. This organization of
economic and social systems made Tang China run smoothly and contributed towards the greatness
of the Tang and Song dynasties. The Tang and Song dynasties have been regarded as the golden age
of arts and literature, setting the bar high for poetry, landscape painting, and ceramics. When
international merchants brought their poetry, the Chinese invention of paper and block printing
made poetry widely available in the Tang dynasty. They also invented new styles of ceramics and

Medusa Brewing Company Narrative Report
Narrative for Notice of Intent
Medusa Brewing Company
1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA
General
The site is located at the northwestern side of the intersection between Houghton Street and South
Street. The project site is shown in Figure One, Locus Map: 1 Houghton Street, Hudson MA.
The project site is labelled as Assessors Sheet 29, Lot 218 and is a historic mill complex.
Therefore, certain activities are exempted from requirements stated in 310 CMR 10.58(1) through
(5), but Best Management Practices (BMP) will still be applied.
The site area is currently vacant and is approximately 14,757 SF. The lot is bordered to the west by
the Danforth Brook, with Houghton Street to the east, South Street to the South, and a one story
commercial structure to the north. There is a footbridge southwesterly of the site which connects to
a parking lot. The site is flat with an elevation change of 1 foot from the northern property line to
south street.
The Danforth Brook is a perennial stream, with a running water depth of roughly one foot. The
bottom of the stream is covered with plants and various pieces of rubble. It is confined by stone
walls, both of which are over 100 years old. The riverfront is degraded because, parts of the stone
wall are covered by overgrowth and a tree has grown in the riverbed in an area adjacent to the
footbridge. The wall is in various states of disrepair with pieces of it lying in the riverbed.
Additionally, a small area of Bordering Land Subject to Flooding (BLSF), extends onto the
western portion of the property. Based on the FEMA Flood Insurance Study for Middlesex
County from July 6, 2016, the elevation of the floodplain was determined to be at 204.2 feet. The
flood zone area is having been calculated to be approximately 4,588 SF. The actual area of the
flood zone could vary slightly because the site is flat and could have various undulations not
considered in the survey.
Description of Existing Conditions
Prior to its demolition in 1999 the building housed a three story shoe factory. After its demolition
it was used as a drive through ATM until 2002, when the ATM was removed. Currently the lot is
vacant with low lying plant growth and random debris. The stone wall requires repair at

The Theme of Decadence in the Picture of Dorian Grey by...
The theme of decadence in The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde Staring from the
definition found in the dictionary, the decadence is a literary movement especially of late 19th
century France and England characterized by refined aestheticism, artifice, and the quest for new
sensations. [1] In decadence, important is not necessarily what is seen, but the hermeneutics: what
man feels when he sees the creative result of this feeling. It is the current that requires a co
operation from the public to the artistic work for the purposes of re creation. The image proposed
by the decadents is a violent one, an image that shocks by having a fascinating and terrifying power.

His conception is hedeonistic. If Basil is the art creator, the picture s creator, Lord Henry is the
creator of Dorian s new aspect. The experience of the sin is finished by killing his friend, Basil
Hallward. His act does not stirs remorse, his only concern being to erase the traces in order to
avoid getting discovered. His diabolism can be compared to the one of Des Esseintes , which
attempts to transform a young man, Auguste Langlois, into an assassin, through vice, but the
difference is that the Huysmans s character has not the power to commit a murder himself. The
murder is followed by the destruction of the portrait. A strong element related to the decadent
movement is the dandyism, the social phenomenon, meaning a man who places particular
importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the
appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self.[5] A first determination of dandyism is shown when
old Lord Fermor says to his nephew Henry Wotton Well, Harry, what brings you out so early? I
thought you dandies never got up till two, and were not visible till five. [6] Lord Henry Wotton is
fully a dandy, most of the qualities found at him. His modality of choosing the people he comes

Evaluating The Current Incremental Budgeting System
1.1 Executive Summary This report reviews the company s current incremental budgeting system,
explores the beyond budgeting approach and looks at the alternative flexible methods available. In
Summary, although the managing director could continue to use the incremental system, it is
recommended that an Activity Based Costing strategy is adopted. Although the current incremental
method is simple and easy to understand, it has many drawbacks making it unsuitable for today s
economic environment. 1.2 Objectives Taking into consideration the current economic climate, to
investigate how beneficial a beyond budgeting approach would be, in regards to flexibility and
financial control of the business. To also explore the possibility of adopting an Activity Based
Costing system and the benefits it would bring to the company. Lastly, after reviewing the benefits
and shortcomings of all three methods of budgeting, determine which method is the most suitable
for the managing director. 1.3 Background to budgeting The process of budgeting is one of the
most important management tools available to a business, particularly in today s current economic
climate. It serves three major purposes; coordinating activities and tasks, motivating employees and
allows for forecasting of future developments and events in order to prepare for the future of the
business effectively (Weber, 2005). 2.1 Incremental Budgeting According to M.M Ibrahim and R.A

Symbolism In Victory Gin
Imagine living in a society where the government rules every aspect of an individual s life to the
degree that their personal liberties are nonexistent and they are deprived of indulging in simple
primal activities. Winston Smith lives in a dystopian world where he finds himself trapped in a
society where individuality does not exist. The governmentcontrols every aspect of its citizens
lives for the purpose of retaining power. It maintains its power by using fear tactics like the threat
of perpetual war and the manipulation of its citizens minds by limiting expression and speech and
controlling the narrative of history. This results in a loss of self, but the Party s control over its

Alcohol is a depressant because it slows down the functions of the central nervous system, so the
Party has essentially assigned Winston an additive which affects his cognitive skills, which serves
as a ploy to push the Party s agenda (Stephen 3). The gin serves as a treatment the Party gives to its
members to make them less conscious of the conditions of reality and to stimulate sanguineness,
which serves the purpose of inevitably eliminating independent thought. Unfortunately, to the Party
s dismay, the efficacy of the gin is completely dependent on the user s need to consume it.
Although the Party exercises much of its power through intimidation, psychological manipulation,
and other indirect methods of control, the Victory Gin s effect on Winston s mental state of
mind is limited. As Winston begins to completely reject social expectations and rebel against the
Party, he had dropped his habit of drinking gin at all hours. He seemed to have lost the need for

Comparison Of Gnosticism In The Truman Show And The Da...
In modern day society, there are several ways in which the belief of Gnosticism is gradually being
circulated throughout our culture. One popular way that Gnostic concepts are being easily
dispersed is through the film industry. In widespread movies such as The Matrix, The Truman
Show and The Da Vinci Code, the presence of underlying Gnostic themes is undeniable. While each
of these movies do not encompass Gnosticismas a whole, there are certain Gnostic themes that are
strongly represented within each of the movies. For example, in The Da Vinci Code there is a
huge focus on the existence of a divine feminine principle just as the Gnostics believe in their
religion. This example shown here is the Gnostic theme that will be focused on the most throughout
this essay. By comparing the divine feminine principle within Gnostic texts with the feminine
principle in the filmThe Da Vinci Code, I will demonstrate the ways that the feminine principle in
The Da Vinci Code relates with the one from Gnosticism. However, these divine females must first

Samuel Adams As A Code Hero Essay
The founding father Samuel Adams is one of the most elusive yet important historical figures of
this nation s history. Although Adams was often very private regarding his life, from what is
known about the man it is clear that he played a major role in America s history. He took part in
the American Revolution and rose up when his country was in need. This is just a piece of the
information that could categorize Samuel Adamsas a code hero. A code hero, though it has several
in depth definitions, is typically defined as a stoic and strong man that can change a negative
force into a positive one. Hemingway s code hero trope has been spread through countless forms
of media and has been used to categorize real people as well. Samuel Adams... Show more content

They also must have a few defining personality traits, including determination, strictness, being
independent and individualistic, non emotional or sentimental, and overall confident and loyal. All
of these factors help determine whether or not someone is a code hero and greatly support the idea
that Samuel Adams is a code hero. (Colvert 374). Samuel Adams was a key figure of the revolution,
taking part in many political events. At a young age, Adams followed in his father s footsteps
through the new world of politics in America. He joined several political groups in his hometown of
Boston, including the Massachusetts assembly, the Boston town meeting, and the Boston Sons of
Liberty. Throughout the revolution, Adams continued to support the town of Boston as a
spokesperson and organizer of several committees and meetings. During this time, many other
highly valued political figures praised Adams, including Thomas Jefferson, who referred to him as,
The man of the revolution and his own cousin, John Adams. John Adams once wrote, He was born
and tempered a wedge of steel to split the knot of lignum vitae that tied North America to Great
Britain. (Maier 13). It is evident that at the time, Sam was greatly responsible for spreading his
ideals of American freedom, and wanted to promote cutting ties with England. This also proves just
how influential he was at the time. The true peak of

The Effect Of Uv Radiation On Surface Waters
1. Introduction Colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) is an optically active component of
total dissolved organic matter (DOM), absorbing light strongly in the UV and visible spectral
range, hence influencing light availability in the aquatic environments [1]. Although CDOM
protects marine biota from the harmful effects of UV radiation in surface waters [2], it can also
adversely affect primary production and the ecosystem health by reducing the quality and the
amount of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) to phytoplankton [3,4]. In estuarine
environments, CDOM is primarily of terrestrial origin and is characterized by the presence of
humic acid produced by bacterial decomposition of plant litter, animals and organically rich soils
[5], whereas in situ production of CDOM by bacterial and viral decomposition, excretion, grazing,
and primary production dominates in oceanic waters [6 9]. Coastal bays are important transition
zones between marine and terrigenous environments supplying elevated amounts of sediments,
dissolved organic matter, and nutrients to the coastal waters, making them optically complex and
challenging for ocean color remote sensing applications. For example, previous studies [8,10 12]
have attributed errors in satellite based estimates of chlorophyll a to elevated levels of CDOM in
coastal waters. Barataria Bay together with the neighboring Timbalier Terrebone Bay system has
been designated as one of the 28 estuaries of natural significance by the

THE IMPACT OF RISING OIL PRICES ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN ECONOMY IN
RELATION TO THE DEMAND AND SUPPLY OF NEW MOTOR VEHICLES.
INTRODUCTION
A continual upward trend in the price of crude oil in recent years has led to increasing concerns
about its economic implications, both abroad and in South Africa. This study looks at the rising oil
prices and their impact on the South African economy within the framework of supply and demand,
looking at the impact rising oil prices has had on demand and supply for vehicles as well as the
impact on South African GDP growth. Cognisance must be taken of the fact that this ... Show more

PRIMARY FACTORS
Taking into account the primary factors that can cause a change in demand (or a shift in the
demand curve) are
consumer income
prices of related goods
advertising and consumer preferences
population
seasonal factors
Understanding these factors in relation to rising oil costs and vehicle demand makes it possible to
predict the market response to real economic events.
Consumer income
Over the year s South African consumer income has increased which has resulted in an increasing
demand of motor vehicles. The demand for inferior goods (i.e. public transport) decreased as more
people chose to purchase their own vehicles.
Prices of related goods
Changes in the price of related goods (substitutes and complements) leads to changes in demand.
An increase in the price of Oil as a complement good has caused a decrease in the demand of Motor
Vehicles especially since the late 2006 when there has been a steep increase in the oil prices.
Advertising and consumer preferences
Consumers are becoming more environmentally conscience and this has resulted in a steady
demand for eco friendly modes of transport. With the introduction of hybrid vehicles as well as
plans to improve public transport within South Africa consumers are becoming less reliant on the
necessity of a motor vehicle as an only means of transport.
Population
The growing increase in population of consumers has increased demand.

What Is Atticus Taking A Stand
To Kill A Mockingbird Rough Draft Taking a stand (verb): Adopt a firm position about an issue.
This is a classic way to show someone s stand on problems in today s society, or even in the past.
In To Kill A Mockingbird (TKAM), Atticus Finch, father to Scout and Jem Finch, defends an
innocent Black man against rape charges and ends up in a spiral of hate, even though he was
merely standing for equal rights for everyone in 1930 s Alabama. Many people in real life also
took a stand for things they believed in. Taking a stand can change your community, and even the

Legalism, Taoism, and Confucianism in Ancient China
Legalism, Taoism, and Confucianism in Ancient China Philosophies dictate the most basic beliefs,
concepts, and attitudes of individuals or groups, even entire civilizations. Since the beginning of
time there has been great debate among men over which philosophies to live life by. The list of
philosophies that exist in the world today is nearly endless, making it difficult to decide which one
is the most suitable to live by. Ancient China was arguably among one of the most philosophical
cultures that has ever existed to date. They had multiple schools of thought including Chinese
Naturalism, Mohism, Logicians, Confucianism, Taoism (Daoism), and Legalism. Many of these
philosophies fell into obscurity but three of them had a very large impact on ancient China and
still have influence around the globe today. Legalism, Taoism, and Confucianism each had its own
ways of seeing the nature of human beings, society, and the universe. Although they were all
different they all shared a similar purpose, to make society a better place. Because they are so
different, however, different people are going to prefer different philosophies. Confucianism and
Taoism have and will continue to be the topic of debate for time to come and although Legalism
has not been practiced for some time now, it still played a significant role in ancient Chinese
history. (Confucianism, Legalism, Daoism) Confucianism was founded by a man named
Confucius. Confucius was a man who proposed that society needed

Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure Summary
I have read the Hardy Boys The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon. The Hardy Boys were
delivering paper for their dad on their motorcycles. a blue car went flying by and then it went
flying by again. They climbed the hill next to them and delivered the papers. They were going to
Chets house to say hi, and they saw the blue car had crashed into a ditch there was no one in the
car. They went down Chets driveway and saw that Chet was sad; the man had stolen Chets yellow
car. Chet and the Hardy Boyswent around town asking if anyone say a yellow car go bye. Their
friend Callie who had a cake in her hand said Chets yellow car was going so fast that it scared
her and she dropped the cake. The Hardy Boys went to the police station to see if the Chief knew
anything. Once they got there, they saw that their rival detective, Detective Smuff was there
with a man that worked at a ticket both. They were reporting a man in Chets yellow car had
attempted to rob the ticket booth. The next day the boys were on the case and they had called in
a couple of their friends to help. They all split up to look for clues and at the end they would
meet at the park. At the park they ate and took a nap once they woke up they looked in the last
place it could have been in, in. they looked in the woods near the park where there was an old
dump they split up and looked. They found footsteps in the mud that led to small path in the
woods and they walked along the path. Chets car was at the end of the path. All of them piled in
the car and drove along the highway calling out that they have found the car. They saw Smuff
and Bragged but he didn t care there was a new case the tower has been robbed. The Hardy boys
were on the hunt for clues. They went to the tower with their dad where Mr. Applegate accused
Mr. Robinson of the robbery because he was the only one who has ever seen the safe open. That
was the Hardy boys friends dad. They wanted to solve the mystery so Mr. Robinson could get a
job and they could go to school with their friend. They suspected that the man who stole Chets
car was the one who did it but they had no evidence. They gave their dad the wig, and he looked

The biggest flaw that I believe planet fitness possesses is the fact that they live by the policy do
not cater to body builders, so that they can create the dream of a judgement free zone . I am
about to put a huge hole into the logic of this policy. There is no such thing as judgment free .
Judgement and opinion are natural processing agents within the human mind. Everyone judges
everyone whether it is acknowledged that they are doing so or not. Also, if it s a judgment free
zone, how come the gym is full of illustrations and slang words directed towards a stereotypical
bodybuilder? Planet Fitness is being judgmental their selves. By keeping to this policy, Planet
Fitness is not only making itself the laughing stock of the fitness industry, but it is also losing a
large, plentiful amount of potential customers. Now that I ve gotten that flaw out of the way, my
second biggest frustration with Planet Fitness is the food and candy the facility offers. When
people sign up for the gym, they are also signing a personal contact with their selves to be a
better, heathier version of their selves. This process involves not only working out, but it also
involves dieting, creating a balanced meal plan based on their goals, and being able to say no to

Features Of Estuary English
Introduction
A new buzzword, Estuary English, is supposed to be a new kind of English that is spreading
quickly throughout England, creating expectations about its future as possible standard accent. The
aim of this essay will be to introduce the reader into the environment of this particular variety of
English, as well as to provide a general overview about it.
This essay is structured as follows. Section 1 attempts to define Estuary English as well as to
establish its origins and geographical occurrence. Section 2 will provide account of the typical
stereotype of the EE speaker and how it has changed throughout time. And finally, in the third
section, major characteristics of this variety will be outlined in three different levels: phonological,
grammatical and lexical.

В» The omission of the ly adverbial ending, as in They talked very quiet for a while.
В» Generalization of the third person singular form, especially in narrative style, and generalized
past tense use of was. 3.Lexical Features
Furthermore, Estuary English also presents several distinctive lexical features, as mentioned by
Rosewarne (1994) and Coggle (1993):
В» EE makes an extensive use of Americanisms. The most frequent examples are the use of Excuse
me instead of Sorry, and the constant repetition of the word mate.
В» The word Cheers is frequently used instead of Thank you, but it can also means Goodbye.
В» Extension of the actual meaning of the word basically to use it as a gap filler.
Conclusion
Summing up, Estuary English can be defined as a variant of English widely spoken in and around
London and, more generally, in the southeast of England and along the river Thames and its
estuary. It can be placed between Queen s English and Cockney and it uses some non standard
grammatical forms and several divergences from

Led Burning Essay
Retrofitting your home with LED Lighting If you re building or renovating and installing new light
fittings, you will no doubt have noticed that almost all new light fittings these days implement
LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). LEDs, unlike the incandescent light bulbs that lit our homes for
almost a century, produce light via a chemical reaction. Incandescent lamps produce light by
passing an electrical current through a wire (tungsten) filament until it heats to high heat and glows
almost white. This is the reason incandescent bulbs produce the warm glow to which we have
become accustomed and, perhaps, even expect in our living areas after dark. A major advantage of
LED lighting is that it takes less energy to create the chemical... Show more content on

Without some ventilation, the small amount of heat produced will be trapped and may cause
the bulb to fail. As with incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs come with different base options. Some
of the most common are: E27 standard screw in fitting B22 standard bayonet fitting E14 small
screw in fitting GU10 two broad pins with flattened ends MR16 two narrow pins The below
chart may help you identify the base fittings you need. Colour Temperature Put simply, colour
temperature is the degree of warmth (yellow redness) of the light emitted from the bulb. The
colour of an incandescent bulb is usually warm white and most LED bulbs do a good job of
reproducing light in this spectrum. Since LEDs don t produce light from heating a filament, they
come in a wide range of other colours. For the home warm white, pure white (similar in colour to
cool white fluorescent tubes), and natural white (somewhere between warm and pure white) are
the commonly found colour temperatures. Which to use is largely a matter of preference. Some
thirty years ago, when I commenced work in the lighting industry, cool white was considered
useful only in commercial premises or certain work areas of the home (i.e. garages, workshops
and laundry rooms). These days cooler colours such as pure white and natural white can bee seen
throughout the home. Personally, I prefer warm white in living areas such as living rooms and
bedrooms. It is

An Imperialistic Love Triangle in The Quiet American
The Orient is traditionally viewed as separate, backward, erotic, exotic, and passive. It mirrors a
past of unscrupulous tyrannical power involving carnal pleasures and deviating from the restrictive

Django Unchained Essay
For the movie assignment in this class I felt it was best to pick a film that I was very familiar
with. After careful consideration of a few of my personal favorite movies I choses the film Django
Unchained. I chose this film because of how the elements of it line up with this assignment in a
major way. This filmhas both elements of good and bad characters and it is also a heroic story of
good beating bad.
To properly understand this movie it is important to first list the characters by good and bad roles.
In the good rules were characters such as Django and Dr. King Schultz. In the bad roles were
characters such as Calvin Candie and Stephen. The correlation between these two sets of characters
helped the movie become what is in a drastic way.
Much like many movies in the Django Unchained the good character often had to do bad things to
help accomplish the goal at hand. A great example of this in Django happens when Dr. Shultz
offers to buy D Artagnan from Candie in order to save his life. In this moment Django stops Dr.
Shultz because this purchase may expose their real intentions for making company with Candie. In

These elements often times come to light during very defining moments in the movie. In the

of the slaves that were there. The shows his true sense of compassion towards the freedom of
slaves because he could ve simply purchase Django and one about his day. And example of good
in Django s character happens later in the movie when he avenges the death of D artagnan. While
he openly let him die earlier in the movie he avenges his death later because he knows that his death
was unjust and that his actions will stop future slaves from going through the same

The BSC takes forethought. It is not a tool you can just think up one night to solve a problem.
Instead, it is recommended that you hold a meeting to plan out what goals you would like to see
your company reach in each of the four above areas. Once you have clearly stated objectives, you
can then begin to break down these objectives in what you will need, financially, to bring these
objectives to fruition. 2. While the BSC gives you an overall view of the four areas for concern in
business growth and development, these four areas do not paint the whole picture. The financial
information included on the scorecard is limited. Instead, to be successfully implemented, the
balanced scorecard must be part of a bigger strategy for company growth that includes meticulous
accounting methods. 3. Many companies use metrics that are not applicable to their own situation.
It is vitally important when using balanced scorecards to make the information being tracked
applicable to your needs. Otherwise, the metrics will be meaningless. 4.

Significance Of The Age Of Exploration
Why did exploration begin?
In the past Spain, age of exploration, spices and other imported goods from Asia was the symbol of
how wealth they were. Therefore, lots of traders seek for trading routes through land. However, It
wasn t easy because of the capability of Ottoman Empire. After they bewitched the Constantinople
in 1453, they blocked the route from Europe to Asia, which limited the amount of trading.
Subsequently traders were forced to search for another route, which is the sea route. Though,
exploring needed funding for ships, crews and supplies. Only countries that had strong monarchy
were able to take the risk of funding a big amount of money, even there was no guarantee that the
ship sufficiently returns to them. King and Queen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages Of Demonetization
Demonetization is a radical monetary step stripping a currency unit of its status as legal tender. It
occurs whenever there is a change of national currency, the current form or forms of money is
pulled from circulation and retired, often to be replaced with new notes or coins. Sometimes, a
country completely replaces the old currency with new currency. The opposite of demonetization is
remonetization, in which a form of payment is restored as legal tender.
Objectives of Demonetization
There are multiple reasons why nations demonetize their local units of currency:
п‚· To combat inflation
п‚· To combat corruption and crime (counterfeiting, tax evasion)
п‚· To discourage a cash dependent economy

An example of demonetization for trade purposes occurred when the nations of the European
Union officially began to use the euro as their everyday currencies in 2002. When the physical
euro bills and coins were introduced, the old national currencies, such as the German mark, the
French franc and the Italian lira were demonetized. However, these varied currencies remained

In the wake of all that has been happening in our world, I find my revisiting of the yoga philosophy
and practices to be at the perfect time.
Our inability to love and accept all the pieces of ourselves creates ripples tiny acts of violence that
have huge and lasting impacts on others. Deborah Adele
I began reading a book on the yamas and niyamas. The yamas and niyamas are the foundation to all
yogic thought. It is not a religion in and of itself, but a way of life. You can think of them as
guidelines or ethical disciplines, or as restraints and observances. There are 10 jewels in all: The
first five are the yamas, or restraints, and the last five are the niyamas, or observances.
The yamas are: Nonviolence, truthfulness, non stealing, non excess, and ... Show more content on

This takes courage: Courage to step outside of societal norms. Courage to accept not only ourselves,
but to accept others, just as they are. Courage to learn the difference between belonging and fitting
in.
Courage to discern between real fear that keeps you alive, and fear that keeps you from living.
Here are five ways to begin practicing ahimsa.
1. Go Outside Your Comfort Zone.
Begin by doing one thing daily that you normally wouldn t do. If you re feeling brave, make that
one thing that scares you.
2. Listen to Your Body.
Create balance by finding guidance from messages of your body. Practice yoga or find movement
through a connection to your breath and listen.
3. Check In With Yourself.
Notice what you might be avoiding in your own life because you are so interested in others lives.
Are you a worrier? A fixer? Discern the difference between help and support.
4. Pretend You Are Complete.
There is no need to expect anything from yourself, or to criticize, judge, or change anything about
you. Cultivate gratitude.
5. Practice

King October 15, 2012 When comparing and contrasting the poem What It s Like to Be a Black

short story are both great examples of the difficulty of life between different ethnic backgrounds.

The feeling of not belonging, the feeling of being different, and unique is best stated by Patricia
Smith What It s Like to Be a Black Girl, first of all, it s being 9 years old and feeling like you re
not finished, like your edges are wild, like there s something, everything, wrong (pg 267
Clugston). When comparing and contrasting the poem Patricia Smith What It s Like to Be a
Black Girl to the short story Country Lovers by Nadine Gordimer you see that the these two
young black women want to be accepted in the world around them. The girl in the poem is
trying to change her image by once again quoting like there s something, everything, wrong, it s
dropping food coloring in your eyes to make them blue and suffering their burn in silence. It s
popping a bleached white mophead over the kinks of your hair (pg 267 Clugston). Where as the
short story states that nobelprize.org states that Nadine Gordimer Born in Springs, South Africa,

The Foundation Phase Encompasses The Developmental Needs...
The Foundation Phase encompasses the developmental needs of children. At the centre of the
statutory curriculum framework lies the holistic development of children and their skills across
their curriculum, building on their previous learning experience knowledge and skills. (Framework
for Children s Learningfor 3 to 7 year olds in Wales)
According to the Framework for Children
s Learning for 3 7 year olds in Wales (FCLW); which essentially sets out the curriculum and
outcomes for children in the Foundation phase, all children in the Foundation phase should be
taught in a cross curricular manner, meaning that a holistic curriculum is critical to a Childs
development.
For example; there are Seven Areas of Learning in the FCLW which are
Personal and Social Development, Language, Literacy Communication Skills, Mathematical
Development, Welsh Language Development, Knowledge and Understanding of the World,
Physical Development and Creative Development. (Framework for Children s Learning for 3 to
7 year old s in Wales) For each area of learning there are areas of the curriculum which teachers
are expected to cover, and set outcomes which are expected. There are, as previously mentioned,
Seven areas, although as the curriculum is holistic, more than one area can be developed at once,
for example Learning to count, in Welsh, develops Mathematical coherency, as well as improving
Welsh Language skills.
One must remember however, the curriculum is ever evolving, therefore

A Brief Look at Hamilton Howard Fish
I always had a desire to inflict pain on others and to have others inflict pain on me. I always
seemed to enjoy everything that hurt. How would you feel if a man with gray hair and looked
like a ghost walked up on you and made this statement? These are the evil words of man that was
known as a serial killer. Born May 19th of 1870 was a man by the name of Hamilton Howard
Fish. Fish the youngest of four children was born to a young mother and a father by the name of
Randall. Fish s father whom was a boat captain that operated on a boat by the name of Potomac
River also suffered from a type of mania. Hamilton s father at the age of only 80 years old died of
a heart attack. This is where the life of Hamilton Howard Fish began. Not being able to care for
herself and a young child after Fish s dad passed away, Hamilton found himself left at an
orphanage in Washington by the name of Saint John s. At this orphanage Hamilton found
himself being beat while naked for punishment for doing bad things. This is where his life
started to drown and he started to develop feelings of sadomasochism and would also have or get
erections and even pleasure from the beatings that he was receiving for his punishments. Which
this lead to other boys making fun of him as well as bullying him even more than before. At this
time in his life, Fish began to run away from the orphanage as well as wetting the bed that he slept
in. With bed wetting being normal, no one looked for any signs of him to go

A Brief History of the Mi’kmaq
As the environmental movement has brought attention to the severe ecological degradation that has
occurred all over the world since the Industrial Revolution, more and more attention is also being
brought to the injustices that have divided and marginalized certain members of society, both on
local and global scales. Arguably the worst affected have been indigenous peoplesworldwide.
European colonialismbrought pestilence, rape, murder and the destruction of entire civilizations to
some of the most culturally and biologically diverse regions of the world. The remnants of those
cultures that managed to survive are now being subjected to neo colonialism in the form of
expansive trade and globalization. Cultures, like species, evolve over time due to various pressures.
It is not reasonable to assume a culturewill remain static, but when the traditions, language, and
lifestyle of thousands of peoples are eradicated within a 500 year time span, that is no longer
evolution, but intentional extinction. Some cultures managed to stay somewhat intact, but they are
under a new threat to assimilate to the homogeneity of language, culture, and technology brought on
by globalization or face extinction. Some peoples are doing what they can to fight the annihilation
of their unique identity. One such culture is that of the Mi kmaq of eastern Canada.

Intergenerational Abuse And Child Abuse
Introduction
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines child abuse and child maltreatment as all forms of
physical and/or emotional ill treatment, sexual abuse, neglect or negligent treatment or commercial
or other exploitation, resulting in actual or potential harm to the child s health, survival,
development or dignity in the context of a relationship of responsibility, trust or power. Child abuse
has increasingly become a problem in the United States and countries all over the world. Child
abuse reports involved 7.2 million children, of which 17.2% of victims are physically abused.
Being physically abused as a child affects that individual s ability to form relationships with their
future children which can lead to the continuation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been noted the vital role that mothers play in a child s healthy development. Therefore if
mothers are abused research done by Sandra A. Graham Bermann, Co Director of the
Interdisciplinary Family Violence Research Program, has shown that Children who were exposed
to parental violence had many more behavioral problems, exhibited significantly more negative
affect, responded less appropriately to situations, were more aggressive with peers, and had more
ambivalent relationships with their caregivers than those from nonviolent families. (Graham
Bermann, S. A., Levendosky, A. A., 1998). Another factor that can play a negative role in a child s
development is that parents may hold unreasonable expectations from their children due to how
they themselves were brought up. Seymour Rosenberg a head of the department of Psychology at
The State University of New Jersey helped their study come to the conclusion that It has also been
shown that abusive parents often have unrealistic expectations for their children expectations based
on distorted perceptions of their children s needs, feelings, and abilities (Herzog, E. P., Gara, M.
A., Rosenberg, S., 1992). Due to this it can cause the child to grow up confused and scared which
may lead them to use the same maltreatment towards their kids which will only further the
intergenerational abuse. However, Research has also shown that

Differences between Confucian and Buddhist Concept in Filial Piety
1.Background of Filial Piety in Chinese Society
Filial piety is a primary and comprehensive concept which plays a significant role in Chinese
history. The explanation of filial piety is to treat parents well in Er Ya(Su 2007,10)which is the
earliest monograph in semantic interpretation. Filial piety is not only the foundation and practical
staring point of all Chinese society relationships, but the root and essence of education and social
norm as well. As for the mainstream of Chinese traditional culture, no matter Buddhism or
Confucianism, filial piety is an important concept in both thoughts. The two schools both encourage
children to show filial piety to parents in not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tian Di Guan Jing mentioned that: one needs to repay parent s debt, all living beings debt, king s
debt, three jewel s debt (Su 2007). This combination constitutes the system of repaying debt in
Buddhism. Among the four types of debt, debt of parents has the closest relationship with us. In
Buddhism thought, love from mother is the most important, however, we can never repay this kind
of selfless love. That is to say, the essence of filial piety in Buddhism is repaying parents debt.
Compared with Buddhism, filial piety in Confucian thought is more closely related to society.
There is a famous assertion in Confucianism which is: self cultivation, family harmony, state
governing and world peace (Si Shu Wu Jing). Etiquette idea in Confucianism is used to maintain the
primogeniture system. The huge difference between Confucianism and Buddhism in that, in
Buddhism, filial piety is voluntary behavior and the essence of it is a kind of natural human feeling
coming from the bottom of one s heart without any utilitarian purpose. This is consistent with idea
of equality in Buddhist thought. However, in Confucianism, filial piety is regarded as a tool to
maintain the seniority and hierarchy in society which glosses over emotional

Be A Woman Programmer
In the essay How to Be a Woman Programmer by Ellen Ullman, published by The New York
Times, the author addresses the multiple ways in which gender prejudice is alive and in the
computer science industry today. While women still face discrimination, the inequality is more
apparent than ever in the workplace.
A point Ullman makes is that women in the computer science industry must prove themselves
further than their credentials. Ellen Ullman says But no matter how strong the social structure,
there is always that cheek slapped moment when you are alone with the anti women prejudice: the
joke, the leer, the disregard, the invisibility the inescapable fact that the moment you walk through
the door you are seen as lesser, no matter your credentials (Ullman, 2013), meaning that, even
though the woman is more than qualified, she must still prove herself even when nobody is
watching.
Ellen Ullman writes about an account she had with a former employer. She says about the
encounter I had a boss who said flatly, I hate to hire all you girls, but you re too damned smart. By
all he meant three but, at the time, it was rare to find even one woman in a well placed technical
position. (Ullman, 2013)
According to Rich and Walker Second wave feminism, beginning in the mid 1960s, tended to focus
on the under representation of women in the workplace. This was expressed with the creation of the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (which

Ttc Attack Case Study
Often when someone s temper is aroused, this person will tend to react in a manner that contrasts
sharply with their usual behavior and sometimes they may even react quite negatively in particular
situations. A momentary decision made in a fit of anger can linger and can even result in negative
consequences. Many jobs in which employees work with the public can be more demanding than
others and can require a higher level of self control and the ability to provide good customer
service under pressure. From waiters and waitresses to police officers, average citizens are
challenged and placed in situations they never anticipated that can put their patience and even their
their character on trial. Below, we will examine an incident that... Show more content on

Many assaults have been recorded against them. As a matter of fact, on average, 500 assaults
take place on them per year as of just a few years ago! The attacks typically involve spitting or
surface from fare disputes or those who are publicly intoxicated. Injuries range from minor to
severe among TTC workers, who often do not return to their job as a result. Patrons may also
suffer an injury as a result of the inappropriate actions of TTC workers, which is evident in a case
where it s alleged that a TTC driver attacked a public transit passenger over a fare and age
disagreement. Apparently, the driver was of the opinion that the fare paid by the student was not
satisfied, due to the age of the passenger. It s alleged that the victim s head was pressed against a
glass window, which as a result, was broken. How exactly the window became broken wasn t
explained in the introductory reports. The Constable with the police who investigated the alleged
attack made note that the injuries sustained by the victim to both his head and neck were minor,
overall. The victim, though, made the decisions to retain a personal injury lawyer s services, who

China s One Child Policy
In China, there are more than 1.3 billion people living, working and building families. In 1978,
the government created China s one child policy. China s one child policy was established by
Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in 1979 to limit China s population growth. The policy lets couples
have only one child. If they have another child the mother is pressured to abort the pregnancy. The
one child policy has brought many disasters to china since the one child policy was established.
First are the problems of the female abortions and the killing of infants. As a result, abortions of
females have become commonplace, as well as the killing of babies born post partum. China s
women must have an abortion, even if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These eras were characterized by wide scale crime and violence. In the past 19th century, China
has had the same problem before. Where there are more men the more violence there is
especially in the lower classes. Ma Jihong is 38years old and she is six months pregnant. So
when 10 people from the local office showed up one morning in October, she slipped through a
gap in the concrete wall around the house and bolted like a sprinter toward the main road. She
was trying to hide her pregnancy from the government. They took my daughter in law at 9 a.m.
By 5 p.m., she was dead, Gao said. Because of the one child policy Mao had to abort her child
even though she was two months away from labor. In 2009, a woman in Liaocheng, also in
Shandong province, died after being forced to get an abortion a week before her due date. They
made a women abort a full grown baby; it wasn t even a fetus because it was fully developed
baby. By the midpoint of the century, more than a quarter of the Chinese population will be over
65. By 2050, about 25% or more will be over 65 years old. What this means is, that most Chinese
citizens don t have sibling, each child will likely have to care for their two parents and every
possibly their four grandparents (hence the 4 2 1 problem. The way that the 4 2 1 problem works
is that the one child has to take care of his parents and if his grandparents are still there they have
to take care of them two. Which

  • 2. The Importance Of Body Temperature And Thermoregulation The human body is capable of many checks and balances throughout the numerous systems. From fluid and electrolytes, perfusion, to skin integrity the body can auto regulate and maintain balance, while assisting thermoregulation of the body. Thermoregulation is controlled by the hypothalamus, which is considered the thermostat center of the body (Giddens 88). The normal body temperature is 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Any influence of extreme environmental conditions, intense exercise, disease or infection that allow the body temperature to waver from the normal core temperature can affect thermoregulation. Hypothermia occurs when the body temperature decreases below 97 degrees, hyperthermia is when body temperature is in excess of 100 degrees. The ideal goal for all ages would be normothermia, which is the normal range of 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. By teaching the older that their decreased ability of regulating their body temperature will affect their thermoregulation. By educating them of their inability to sweat efficiently, declined circulation, and a decreased vasoconstrictive response to shivering, and slower metabolic rate all hinder their thermoregulation. Teaching would consist of adjusting clothing and attire according to the outside temperature, or if they stay indoors to set their indoor thermometer to 72 degrees. If they do not have air conditioning to keep windows open and a fan blowing. Dress in layers in colder temperatures and to keep their head ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These include the great toe or hallux on the hind feet. This helps the kangaroo grasp onto branches as it climbs The leaves of the eucalyptus tree hang vertically. This is to reduce the amount of sunlight the tree is exposed to reducing transpiration. PhysiologicalThe Musky Rat Kangaroo have similar adaptions to sheep and goats. They have a large fore stomach where with the use of particular bacteria and fungi they break down the plant fibre in a fermentative chamber. The leaves of the eucalyptus tree contain toxic chemical compounds. As a result only few animals are able to consume the leaves, therefore giving the tree a better chance of survival. Behavioral The Musky Rat Kangaroo feeds on leaves and fruit instead of grass as it lives up in trees as well as the fact that the kangaroos main predators live on the grounds of the rainforest and so being an arboreal animal makes it so they do not need to go to the ground. The eucalyptus tree releases its seeds after a fire. This is because there are all the nutrients now in the soil, often known as the ash bed effect, for the seed to germinate. This gives the eucalyptus saplings less competition because of those who could not survive after the fire. Therefore meaning the trees have a higher chance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pseudonymity In The Book Of Daniel Pseudonymity is the method of producing new compositions in the name of a famous deceased author (Harris, 2014, p.2). This particular method was well known in the Hellenistic Jewish community and among early Christian writers. Specifically, during 200 BCE to 200 CE, the Jewish writers produced numerous books that were accredited to respected biblical figures that included Daniel, Enoch, Noah, Solomon, and a host of others (Harris, 2014, p.387). Interestingly, some of the books such as Book of Daniel were received into the Hebrew Biblecanon, while others such as Enoch were not. • 6. Amelie Cultural Differences As I re watched the film, I noticed several cultural differences. Some of the cultural differences included: details, where they live, visuals, sound effects (music), photos, and clothing. This film includes many details, including a scene of a blue fly that was capable of flapping 70 beats a minute and landed in Montmartre. In a restaurant, the wind made two glasses dance on a tablecloth, which led to show how Amelie was born. Those scenes weren t necessary, but in the French culture they might have been because they value the littlest things. It also shows how life in France is. Being in France, I noticed that many people go to the Cafe, where Amelie works, they also use telephone booths, and they all seem to live in apartments. Throughout the film, I ... As I kept watching the film, I realized that pictures are really important in their culture. Some examples include: Amelie taking pictures of shaped clouds, Nino having an album of pictures that he finds, and Amelie finding a box that included important objects such as pictures and other materials. The visual of Amelie taking pictures of shaped clouds shows how imagination plays a role in this film. I also noticed how important a garden gnome was to Amelie s father. The gnome represented Amelie s father s dream of traveling. Soon, Amelie takes the gnome and sends it to other places of the world, her father is sent pictures of the gnome traveling and soon decides to travel himself. Another cultural difference is the music, which is very happy and sometimes even sounds romantic. Equally important, the clothes that most women wear including Amelie are a skirt with a blouse or t shirt and many of them have short hair. • 7. Deism and Changes in Religious Tolerance in America Essay Deism and Changes in Religious Tolerance in America Religious conscience in America has evolved considerably since the first settlers emigrated here from Europe. Primary settlements were established by Puritans and Pilgrims who believed their errand into the wilderness [America] was above all else a religious errand, and all institutions town meeting, school, church, family, law must faithfully reflect that fact (Gaustad 61). However, as colonies grew, dissenters emerged to challenge Puritan authority; indeed, many of them left the church to join untraditional religious sects such as the Ranters, the Seekers, the Quakers, the Antinomians, and the Familists (Westbrook 26). Debates over softening the stance on tolerancein ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rejecting the assumption that God controls all actions on earth, most Deists believe that God created the universe, [. . .] and then disassociated himself from his creation (Robinson 3). This definition leads to the supposition that deistic thought was partly conceived out of scientific discovery: a Darwinian takeover theory. Perhaps the nuances of scientific knowledge manifested a directive in the argument for religious freedom. Certainly, Deist s supported what Benjamin Franklin termed, spiritual Liberty, which asserted that no man ought to resign his Liberty, in mak[ing] Choice of his Minister as his Judgement and Conscience direct him (qtd. in Walters, Franklin 138). Thomas Paine, Deism s most notable advocate, maintains this line of thinking saying, I do not believe in the creed professed by [. . .] any church that I know of, but, I do not mean this declaration to condemn those who believe otherwise; they have the same right to their belief as I have to mine (22). Religious tolerance would gain many formidable voices among America s Founding Fathers, a development that poses a challenge to the harsh dogmatic attitude of early Puritan leaders. Intolerance for opposing views in religious matters was a renowned element in Puritanical practices during the seventeenth century. Few persons had the courage to speak against church doctrine, as it would certainly pronounce their expulsion. One such person, Roger Williams, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That on April 30th 1803 he signed a treaty giving the Louisianan territory to the United States making the US double in size. The Louisiana territory was very important because farmers sailed down the Mississippi river to New Orleans to sell their crops to other farmers and settlers. Jackson once told me that Napoleons plan for the Louisiana territory was to have thousands of French farmers settle there. There were some people who liked the purchase and some that didn t. the people that liked it was because, the country has now doubled in size making there be more room for settlement and that the whole Louisiana territory would be carved into new states. The people who didn t like it was because they thought it would be impossible to govern, and people thought that since it was such a huge country now that they could get their freedom taken away. That night I was dreaming about how president Monroe ordered Jackson to Georgia to end the raids, but instead he continued to Florida with 1,700 troops to try and arrest and execute two British subjects. The next day I was making tea for president Jackson when he was starting to tell me another story. That is 1819 the Spanish government agreed to yield Florida to the US. And what s so bad about that anyway? Studies have shown that there are many negative effects associated with obesity. Obesity has been accused of contributing to many long term conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, diabetes and cancer (Pennybacker 15). Many people sit all day in an office, and do not get much physical activity at all. The conveniences and technology of today contribute to a very sedentary lifestyle for much of the population. According to Food Fight, one study found that 23 percent of all deaths from major chronic disease could be attributed to sedentary lifestyle (Brownell 70). The lack of exercise is one of the main causes of obesity in the United States. Another possible contribution to obesity, which is still in the process of being further researched, is genetics. According to the Office of Genomics Disease Prevention, studies indicate that inherited genetic variation is an important risk factor for obesity. It was also pointed out that genetic factors are starting to be questioned in the degree of effectiveness of diet and physical activity interventions for weight reduction (Obesity and Genetics I). Learning how genetic variations effect obesity will make it much easier to prevent and treat the condition of obesity. In addition to the many different causes of obesity, fast food receives much of the blame. With the continual growth of the fast food industry in the United States, obesity is becoming a bigger problem everyday. Tang And Song Dynasty And Neo-Confucianism The Tang and Song dynasties are regarded as the Golden Age of Chinese history for its revamped and complex political system, a massive boom in economy and production, and an influx of various religions that made it a diverse time period. This turn in Chinese history was made possible by the switch from subsistence farming, in which people farmed only as much as they needed, to a more industrial farming, where they produced for the whole state. This allowed certain people to specialize in certain topics. Rather than needing to be hunters, farmers, and warriors all by themselves, people would specialize in hunting, farming, or fighting. These people brought with them religions such as Islam, Judaism, Nestorian Christianity, Manichaeism, and Zoroastrianism to China. Therefore, certain activities are exempted from requirements stated in 310 CMR 10.58(1) through (5), but Best Management Practices (BMP) will still be applied. The site area is currently vacant and is approximately 14,757 SF. The lot is bordered to the west by the Danforth Brook, with Houghton Street to the east, South Street to the South, and a one story commercial structure to the north. There is a footbridge southwesterly of the site which connects to a parking lot. The site is flat with an elevation change of 1 foot from the northern property line to south street. The Danforth Brook is a perennial stream, with a running water depth of roughly one foot. The bottom of the stream is covered with plants and various pieces of rubble. It is confined by stone walls, both of which are over 100 years old. The riverfront is degraded because, parts of the stone wall are covered by overgrowth and a tree has grown in the riverbed in an area adjacent to the footbridge. The wall is in various states of disrepair with pieces of it lying in the riverbed. Additionally, a small area of Bordering Land Subject to Flooding (BLSF), extends onto the western portion of the property. Based on the FEMA Flood Insurance Study for Middlesex County from July 6, 2016, the elevation of the floodplain was determined to be at 204.2 feet. The flood zone area is having been calculated to be approximately 4,588 SF. The actual area of the flood zone could vary slightly because the site is flat and could have various undulations not considered in the survey. Description of Existing Conditions Prior to its demolition in 1999 the building housed a three story shoe factory. After its demolition it was used as a drive through ATM until 2002, when the ATM was removed. Currently the lot is vacant with low lying plant growth and random debris. The stone wall requires repair at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Theme of Decadence in the Picture of Dorian Grey by... The theme of decadence in The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde Staring from the definition found in the dictionary, the decadence is a literary movement especially of late 19th century France and England characterized by refined aestheticism, artifice, and the quest for new sensations. [1] In decadence, important is not necessarily what is seen, but the hermeneutics: what man feels when he sees the creative result of this feeling. It is the current that requires a co operation from the public to the artistic work for the purposes of re creation. The image proposed by the decadents is a violent one, an image that shocks by having a fascinating and terrifying power. It is a image that stimulates and also stimulates.... The experience of the sin is finished by killing his friend, Basil Hallward. His act does not stirs remorse, his only concern being to erase the traces in order to avoid getting discovered. His diabolism can be compared to the one of Des Esseintes , which attempts to transform a young man, Auguste Langlois, into an assassin, through vice, but the difference is that the Huysmans s character has not the power to commit a murder himself. The murder is followed by the destruction of the portrait. A strong element related to the decadent movement is the dandyism, the social phenomenon, meaning a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self.[5] A first determination of dandyism is shown when old Lord Fermor says to his nephew Henry Wotton Well, Harry, what brings you out so early? Evaluating The Current Incremental Budgeting System 1.1 Executive Summary This report reviews the company s current incremental budgeting system, explores the beyond budgeting approach and looks at the alternative flexible methods available. Although the current incremental method is simple and easy to understand, it has many drawbacks making it unsuitable for today s economic environment. 1.2 Objectives Taking into consideration the current economic climate, to investigate how beneficial a beyond budgeting approach would be, in regards to flexibility and financial control of the business. • 20. Comparison Of Gnosticism In The Truman Show And The Da... In modern day society, there are several ways in which the belief of Gnosticism is gradually being circulated throughout our culture. One popular way that Gnostic concepts are being easily dispersed is through the film industry. In widespread movies such as The Matrix, The Truman Show and The Da Vinci Code, the presence of underlying Gnostic themes is undeniable. While each of these movies do not encompass Gnosticismas a whole, there are certain Gnostic themes that are strongly represented within each of the movies. For example, in The Da Vinci Code there is a huge focus on the existence of a divine feminine principle just as the Gnostics believe in their religion. This example shown here is the Gnostic theme that will be focused on the most throughout this essay. By comparing the divine feminine principle within Gnostic texts with the feminine principle in the filmThe Da Vinci Code, I will demonstrate the ways that the feminine principle in The Da Vinci Code relates with the one from Gnosticism. • 23. The Effect Of Uv Radiation On Surface Waters 1. Introduction Colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) is an optically active component of total dissolved organic matter (DOM), absorbing light strongly in the UV and visible spectral range, hence influencing light availability in the aquatic environments [1]. Although CDOM protects marine biota from the harmful effects of UV radiation in surface waters [2], it can also adversely affect primary production and the ecosystem health by reducing the quality and the amount of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) to phytoplankton [3,4]. In estuarine environments, CDOM is primarily of terrestrial origin and is characterized by the presence of humic acid produced by bacterial decomposition of plant litter, animals and organically rich soils [5], whereas in situ production of CDOM by bacterial and viral decomposition, excretion, grazing, and primary production dominates in oceanic waters [6 9]. Coastal bays are important transition zones between marine and terrigenous environments supplying elevated amounts of sediments, dissolved organic matter, and nutrients to the coastal waters, making them optically complex and challenging for ocean color remote sensing applications. For example, previous studies [8,10 12] have attributed errors in satellite based estimates of chlorophyll a to elevated levels of CDOM in coastal waters. Led Burning Essay Retrofitting your home with LED Lighting If you re building or renovating and installing new light fittings, you will no doubt have noticed that almost all new light fittings these days implement LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). LEDs, unlike the incandescent light bulbs that lit our homes for almost a century, produce light via a chemical reaction. Incandescent lamps produce light by passing an electrical current through a wire (tungsten) filament until it heats to high heat and glows almost white. This is the reason incandescent bulbs produce the warm glow to which we have become accustomed and, perhaps, even expect in our living areas after dark. Colour Temperature Put simply, colour temperature is the degree of warmth (yellow redness) of the light emitted from the bulb. The colour of an incandescent bulb is usually warm white and most LED bulbs do a good job of reproducing light in this spectrum. • 35. Django Unchained Essay For the movie assignment in this class I felt it was best to pick a film that I was very familiar with. After careful consideration of a few of my personal favorite movies I choses the film Django Unchained. I chose this film because of how the elements of it line up with this assignment in a major way. This filmhas both elements of good and bad characters and it is also a heroic story of good beating bad. To properly understand this movie it is important to first list the characters by good and bad roles. In the good rules were characters such as Django and Dr. King Schultz. In the bad roles were characters such as Calvin Candie and Stephen. The correlation between these two sets of characters helped the movie become what is in a drastic way. Much like many movies in the Django Unchained the good character often had to do bad things to help accomplish the goal at hand. A great example of this in Django happens when Dr. Shultz offers to buy D Artagnan from Candie in order to save his life. In this moment Django stops Dr. Shultz because this purchase may expose their real intentions for making company with Candie. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, one element that defined Dr. Shultz as a good guy was the fact that when he purchasing Django out of slavery he also freed all of the slaves that were there. The shows his true sense of compassion towards the freedom of slaves because he could ve simply purchase Django and one about his day. And example of good in Django s character happens later in the movie when he avenges the death of D artagnan. While he openly let him die earlier in the movie he avenges his death later because he knows that his death was unjust and that his actions will stop future slaves from going through the same ... Instead, it is recommended that you hold a meeting to plan out what goals you would like to see your company reach in each of the four above areas. Once you have clearly stated objectives, you can then begin to break down these objectives in what you will need, financially, to bring these objectives to fruition. 2. While the BSC gives you an overall view of the four areas for concern in business growth and development, these four areas do not paint the whole picture. The financial information included on the scorecard is limited. Instead, to be successfully implemented, the balanced scorecard must be part of a bigger strategy for company growth that includes meticulous accounting methods. 3. Many companies use metrics that are not applicable to their own situation. It is vitally important when using balanced scorecards to make the information being tracked applicable to your needs. Otherwise, the metrics will be meaningless. 4.
