Bipolar Disorder In Children
Bipolar disorder is a manic depressive lifelong illness in the brain that causes shifts in mood, energy,
activity, and the ability to carry out normal tasks, but efficient treatment helps people to manage these
complications and normalize their daily lives. This illness is a very serious mental disease affecting
about 2.6 percent of adults in the United States that has the power to cause risky behavior and even
suicidal tendencies if not treated (www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/bipolar disorder/index.shtml). It is
more common in older teens and young adults, but it affects children as young as six years old. It

The doctor may complete a physical exam to rule out other symptoms and then conduct a mental
health evaluation or refer a person to a mental health professional. People with certain genes are more
likely to develop this disorder than others. For example, bipolar disorder typically runs in families so
if a person has a parent or sibling that have this disorder, he is more likely to have it too
(www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/bipolar disorder/index.shtml). It is also linked to brain structure,
brain functioning and environmental factors as well. Periods of high stress, drug or alcohol abuse,
major life changes or a traumatic event are other factors that may increase one s risk of developing

Muhammed Ali Research Paper
The term legend is overused, often directed at individuals who are undeserving of the title. Such is not
the case for legendary boxer and humanitarian Muhammed Ali. After a long battle with Parkinson s
disease, Ali finally succumbed to complications this past week while being treated for respiratory
issues in a Phoenix hospital. He was 74 years old.
Ali s boxing career was marked by both brilliance and controversy. As a brash young pugilist, he made
his mark on the boxing world in the late 1960s through the 1970s with a record of 55 5. During this
time, he claimed the World Heavyweight title three times (a record) and fought some of the sport s
greatest fighters. Among his most dangerous opponents were Hall of Fame fighters like Sonny Liston,
Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Floyd Patterson. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While his trash talking brought with it a lot of entertainment value, it also offended people in the sport
who took exception to some of his comments.
To non boxing fans, he will always be remembered as the conscientious objector who refused to enlist
for military service in Vietnam due to his Islamic beliefs. His decision riled the nation, resulting in a 3
year suspension from boxing. After resuming his boxing career, he would continue his siege on the
Heavyweight title.
Outside of the ring, Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay) garnered a reputation as a true humanitarian.
Even during the 20 something years he was battling Parkinson s, he traveled the world and spoke out
about poverty, racial inequality and the quest for peace throughout the world. It is in his role as an
ambassador to the world that he will be missed by family, friends and the legion of fans he acquired

What Are the Challenges That Face a Psychotherapist...
What are the challenges that face a psychotherapist working with self harm or eating disorders. She
cuts herself. Never too deep, never enough to die. But enough to feel the pain. Enough to feel the
scream inside. The lines I wear around my wrist are there to prove that I exist. A broken mirror, a

This perhaps would be something that could be worked on in therapy. It was also suggested that some
people self harm as a way of communicating or expressing things they cannot speak. It is suggested
when self abuse is used in this mannor it is considered manipulative an attempt at getting a need met
or to influence another. If this is the case it is important for the therapist to listen to what that need is
and to help the individual satisfy that need in a constructive and effective manner I imagine the
therapists first challenge when presented with an individual who self harms is creating a space where
the client can trust the therapist. I can imagine an individual who self harms will carry a large level of
guilt and shame at the behaviour and it is as always vital to move at a pace the client is comfortable
with. If I am aware of marks or cuts before the client has disclosed to me I will wait until the client
feels safe or I feel is ready to talk about the behaviour. Often the client will not have appropriate
support systems for whatever reason which puts them in a very vulnerable position. I would never
suggest a no self harm contract as I feel that would create too much pressure. It is important to
remember that the behaviour is the adapted coping strategy for this individual and on some level it
provides some release or comfort and the idea of

Functions And Functions Of Management
There are four primary functions involving management, which are considered the very life line and it
s existent. These four functions are instrumental and detrimental to the success and longevity of any
company. Without these vital staples, a company is doomed before it is birth, and they are planning,
organizing, leading and controlling. However, there is another essential component to the functions of
management, and it is the important of diversity. In this paper I will identify the detailed function of
these different components of management and explain their importance.
With the most essential components being the planning phase, it is crucial that this particular entity is

The results of the performance will determine the reward or reprimand issued to the employee.
While these are important functions of management, there are other equally important aspects of
management, and they are the management of diverse and important. Management of diverse relates
to the differences among individuals with in an organization. Diversity comprises of the race, gender,
personality, education, ethnic group and the background of an individual to name a few. With America
evolving into this enormous melting pot, different cultures and nationalities are able to integrate
together as one within the confines of the workforce.
Workplace diversity involves building a culture to unity dissimilar individuals to work collectively
toward the same goal. This type of comradery builds mutual respect among workers and fosters a
presence of cohesiveness. There are times when perfect unity is challenging to achieve among
coworkers. However, the visible presence of the different strengths and talents achieved from a
diverse group gains undeniable respect from their cohorts.
Although the majority of us choose to live in perfect harmony, realistically this is not always the case.
Yes, it is inevitable to experience conflict in the workplace; however, it is essential to create a
resolution for each misunderstanding. Resolving workplace diversity conflicts eliminate possible
litigations, as well as minimize probable lawsuits. Attaining a

Intentional Revolutions Is Organizational Change
Intentional Revolutions is organizational change that requires people to examine and alter the basic
assumptions driving and supporting the present state of their organizational life. It is about change that
asks people to do things in dramatically new and different ways, as opposed to making small
improvements in current practices. The requirements for remaining competitive often include sharp
breaks with past beliefs and practices. There is need for organizations of all kinds to make
discontinuous changes in significant aspects of their being. To make revolution is to attack values and

Comparing US And European Democracies
1. Thoroughly explain what a welfare state is.
1.) Welfare State is a system whereby the government undertakes to protect the health and well being
of its people, especially those in financial or social need, by means of grants, pensions, and other
benefits. In this world not everybody can be rich and successful, and thus some people have to work
harder earning lower income to at least have a decent life. There are a lot of welfare programs that
help people that are in need provided by the government. For example, the government helps the low
income students by helping them pay for tuition and books with FAFSA
2. Compare and contrast the US welfare state to European Democracies (IE, size, benefits, etc).
2.) Comparing US Welfare state to the European Democracies can a little difficult. From the example I
made in the last paragraph, it would not apply in Europe because college is tuition free, which is
totally different from the US. One of the main reasons Europe has more welfare state is because their
taxes are much more higher, and thus the government has more money to help their people. Another
difference is the budget spending, which is more dedicated to welfare state rather than the military like
in the US. The budget size and proportional spending are totally different in the US and Europe.
3. Aside from a higher tax ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So in general, the government should provide a minimum standard of living whenever possible. A
solution for this problem could be to raise the taxes for the wealthy people in order to help the poor, or
there could be new foundations that asks the wealthiest people to make voluntary donations. I think
rich people would rather donate money than have money taken away, so creating a way to motivate
them to donate money to the government should be very important. Like I said before, no one should
be suffering, if there is wealthy people in the

Does Antimatter Exist
Antimatter (Draft)
This isn t a trick question. Antimatter is exactly what you might think it is the opposite of normal
matter, of which the majority of our universe is made. Until just recently, the presence of antimatter in
our universe was considered to be only theoretical. In 1928, British physicist Paul A.M. Dirac revised
Einstein s famous equation E=mc². Dirac said that Einstein didn t consider that the m in the equation
mass could have negative properties as well as positive. Dirac s equation (E = + or mc2) allowed for
the existence of anti particles in our universe. Scientists have since proven that several anti particles
exist.
These anti particles are, literally, mirror images of normal matter. Each anti particle has ... Show more

Her response follows:
Let s start by defining matter. People have asked what is matter? for quite a long time. Democritus, the
ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician, envisioned structure in the building blocks of
everything and he called the basis for this structure an atom; he wrote, nothing exists except atoms and
empty space: everything else is opinion. At the atomic level, the world can be described in terms of
the elements, including hydrogen, oxygen, carbon and the like.
As it turns out, though, atoms are not the fundamental constituents of matter. When we zoom closer
into matter, by probing at smaller distances, the subatomic world unfolds. The closer we look, the
stranger this world, the quantum world, actually behaves. We can not make a direct connection with it:
at a small scale, objects do not behave like rods or balls or waves or clouds or anything we have ever
directly experienced. But the quantum mechanics of this world does let us describe how atoms form

Men and Women in British Literature Essay
The portrayal of men and women has varied in different stories throughout history. Many portray
women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men are portrayed as being strong,
masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works covered in the course Major British Writers to
1800, men are advised to refrain from acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall ability to
succeed in whatever the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain and the
Green Knight when Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir Gawain is
imperfect. The depictions of men and women are very similar in Fantomina by Eliza Haywood, Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight, and Phyllis and Aristotle. . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Sir Gawain was nearly beheaded as was Aristotle in their stories, the result of the deception by
Fantomina was an unplanned pregnancy. I feel that Haywood shows morality in this result because,
unlike other works, the man is not punished for being deceived, with the only real trouble of
Beauplaisir being that he knows of the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment for his
actions. Beauplaisir being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while Fantomina was
sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained consistent with the
portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal while also distinguishing herself and
her work from other works. The portrayal of women in Milton s Paradise Lost is very different from
the other works. While women are often seen as being deceitful, devious, and smart, the depiction of
Eve is different as she is seen as being dumber and more inferior to Adam in all areas besides beauty.
This portrayal of Eve assisted in the progression of Paradise Lost as Eve ate the forbidden apple after
being persuaded by Satan to eat the apple. While the incident caused Adam to also disobey God, it
created a bond between Adam and Eve that was greater than before the incident when they were
considered pure. The bond between Adam and Eve that is improved through the learning of new
emotions, trying new things, and the

Stress in Todays Society

Stress is a killer. There is doubt that stress can cause health problems. Daily stressors lead into major
health problems. Therefore if you can manage your daily stress you can promote a healthier life. The
American Medial Association defines stress, as being any disruptions of a person s mental and
physical well being. (4.) My position is that if you balance the stress in your life you can live healthier
and prevent certain sicknesses. Not all stress is bad for your body. It is good to have some stress in

There are many ways to reduce or handle stress in your life. The easiest and one of the healthiest
antidotes for stress is laughter. Just smiling helps because it releases blood flow to the brain and
endorphins are released. (4.) This gives a sense of well being. Some other simple techniques are doing
uninterrupted breathing. Another stressor is lack of sleep. Therefore break the stress sleeplessness
cycle. You can help relieve your sleep problem by developing a daily sleep routine and don t drink
alcohol or caffeine before bed. Another thing is to reserve your bedroom for sleeping and sex only. (4.)
Writing down your feeling in a diary may help relieve emotional stress. (4.) Time management is a
major way to reduce stress. If you can keep a schedule of the things you need to do and when you
have to do them, this can open time for yourself. Try to focus on the important task and then do the

positives of dharma.
In The Ramayana, Rama follows his dharma of being a son and teaches selflessness when he obeys
his parents to sacrifice the crown of the king and the decision of being exiled. Initially, Rama s father
Dasaratha wanted to crown Rama as the king of his kingdom (Narayan 34). After Rama s stepmother,
Kaikeyi, finds out she is angry that her husband chose Rama over her son Bharatha (Narayan 41). She
decides to take advantage of Dasaratha and forces him to let Bharatha become the king and have
Rama exiled to the forest for fourteen years (Narayan 43). This is when we can see the selflessness in
Rama and how important his dharma is to him. When told of this decision, Rama felt no hesitation to
obey his father and step mother. In Narayan s novel, Rama states, I will carry out his wishes without
question. Mother, be assured that I will not shirk. I have no interest in kingship, . . . and no aversion to
a forest existence (45). Rama has no problem with not being crowned and getting exiled because that
is what his parents want. Along with that, he has no problem going away from his family to live in a
forest. As their son, his dharma is to respect his parents decision without any questioning. Rama
teaches mainstream U.S. society to be more concerned with the needs and wishes of others, especially

Poland s Economic Reform Plan Of 1989
The year of 1989 is generally regarded as a watershed moment in the history of Eastern Europe the
one which effectively ended the dominance of Communist politics in the region formerly known as
the Soviet Bloc. Comprised of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and East
Germany, this region was politically and economically depended on the Soviet Union that largely
dictated the official ideological orientation of the Soviet Bloc nations. In 1989, the region s
dependence on the Soviet Union effectively came to an end along with the communist hegemony in
Eastern Europe. At the same time, Eastern Europeans finally discovered the opportunity to make a
transition from centralized socialism to democratic and decentralized form of market economy that
was largely modeled on the Western democracies. The following chapter examines the extent to which
Western theoretical and institutional trends influenced Poland s economic reform plan of 1989. At the
same time, it seeks to account for Poland s own local tradition of neoliberal thought. In so doing, it
aims to dispel the oversimplified interpretation of the transnational exchange between Polish and
American economists according to which the former had to learn from scratch while the former
assumed the role of educators. As various commentators have observed, the Eastern European
transition to market economy took Western neoliberalism as its principal ideological model. It is no

Analysis Of The Tell Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe, a prominent poet and writer in the 1800s, is known for his unique narration style.
Through sentence structure and diction Poe creates a sensory reaction in his readers; for example, in
The Tell Tale Heart the readers feel the panic of the narrator as the sentences get shorter and choppier.
Poe s methods of influencing the reader s emotions are not just limited to these practices. In his stories
of mystery and macabre Edgar Allan Poe has developed many unique characters with definitive traits
who navigate their way through the author s intriguing plots and storylines. These writing methods are
applied to Edgar Allan Poe s mystery story, The Murders in the Rue Morgue , in which the author
establishes the story through a peripheral narrator, maintains the characterization of his protagonist,
and utilizes diction unique to each aspect of the story. Poe s decisions create a mysterious suspense for
the reader as the story unfolds. Edgar Allan Poe makes the conscious decision to narrate The Murders
in the Rue Morgue through an outside narrator rather than from the perspective of his protagonist.
This peripheral narration affects the reader s experience by implanting the feeling of awe that the
narrator feels toward protagonist Auguste Dupin, even at the beginning of the story. Despite being a
mystery, the story starts with neither a murder nor a mystery. Rather, Poe fleshes out the relationship
between the narrator and Dupin as the narrator recounts their summer together. Through first person
narration in Part One, readers witness Dupin s investigative skills for the first time. The narrator,
representing the average person, is shocked by Dupin s intelligence, which allows him to practically
read minds. The narrator then continues to serve as Dupin s admirer throughout the entire story. He
prefaces the case by describing it as a very difficult problem a mystery, to which it was not possible to
find an answer (Poe 46) to establish the difficulty of the task that Dupin decides to undertake. The
narrator then serves as the relayer of evidence to the audience, challenging Dupin s thoughts on the
case. He repeatedly calls out Dupin s name and questions evidence such as the

How Did The Collapse Of The Mayan Civilization
There is no conclusive evidence for what caused the collapse of the Mayan civilization during the
Classic Era. There are several historical theories supported by the historical evidence that is available.
Two of these claims are climate change based upon deforestation + drought and society s response to
environmental problems producing waves of decline exacerbated by social, political, and warfare
issues.
Deforestation + drought claims that the existing drought condition was worsened by the deforestation
to the point where cities became uninhabitable within 100 years. The Mayan s caused deforestation as
they used so many trees in in boiling lime plaster for the construction of their cities. Mayan s

Growth Strategies, Innovation, Alliances, and Execution
Capella University
Introduction
Thompson Strickland (2013) believes that a successful organization s strategy depends on people,
capabilities, structure, and execution. Important as well are growth and innovation (P.. 286), which
allows an organization to remain competitive.
Growth strategies arise from an organization s SWOT where clear guidelines identify areas of focus.
Achieving this requires innovation and alliances on products and services that will create a
competitive advantage. Successfully execution requires a strategic manager who can effectively and
successfully drive strategic objectives, then report its performance to the leadership team (Thompson

Pfizer s SWOT Analysis (Pfizer, 2013) Innovation theory define when new or existing, large or small
companies, individuals or groups identify, create and market new or existing products or services to
consumers ultimately disrupting an existing business or create value. Some ideas are born out of a
need that ultimately satisfies consumers and some are the next steps that dominate the market. Pfizer
innovative strategies provide new products such as Lipitor, Viagra, and Celebrex. When two or more
organizations create a formal agreement to work together for a specific purpose, they form an alliance.
Alliances offer organizations competitiveness in new business industries and shared responsibility in
experience and cost. Execution of a strategy allows an organization to identify a strategic manager or
management team who will be responsible for five key components: people, resources, structure,
systems and culture. The role of the strategic manager or management team is to implement and
monitor performance and report to company stakeholders on the status. Because strategy drives an
organization s success, the team should select managers who can aggressively drive the objectives to
achieve desired results through three actions:

Persuasive Essay On Respect In Society
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for
your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what,
together, we can do for the freedom of man , states the revered and sound late President Kennedy, a
man who truly believed in the cruciality of respect within and for the nation one inhabits. A society is
not only the making up a community, but it is a factor reflecting the ideals of justice, morality, and the
overall character of every individual within the given society. Without respect, without consideration
for the greater good, there is simply no reasonable possibility of a prospering and flourishing society
ever emerging. In this current world one experiences day in and day out, the slaughtering of the
innocent, the unrelenting violence, the angst between races, and the lack of integrity all influence the
declining of our once thriving nation, therefore causing a termination to the aspects of life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness. Within the last year, if one were to access any form of news media, more than
half of the material displayed would include one of the three following topics: terrorism, massacre,
death. In correlation to the definition of respect, a feeling of deep admiration for someone or
something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements, those three topics do not seem to elicit

Hills Like White Elephants By Ernest Hemmingway
Hills Like White Elephants By Ernest Hemmingway is an interesting piece that consists entirely of an
odd conversation between two people sitting at a train station in Spain, having drinks while they wait
on their ride. The couple do not have names, just The American and The Girl who is also called Jig a
time or two by The American. Hemmingway uses these characters and their actions along with the
setting and symbolism to paint a beautiful picture of an untruthful relationship and a secretive
Operation that brings out the true feelings between an unknown couple. The point of view of this
piece is told from the third person. Almost third person limited as we never get to hear the actual
thoughts of any of the characters, making both of them rather unreliable as we never will know for
certain the true intentions either one of them has. At the beginning of the story, the conversation
between these two people seems very strange. Each of them are speaking but it is clear that neither are
truly listening to what the other is saying making it obvious that each has something much bigger on
their mind that they know they must address but neither are yet comfortable with bringing up the
topic. This is initially what I figured the hills symbolized when that girl compares them to white
elephants. There is definitely an elephant in the room. A Major problem that must be given attention
despite the extreme discomfort it may bring, but the two are not yet comfortable to discuss

Analysis of Financila Position of Tesco Plc.
Investment decisions companies make today will have a direct impact on their ability to reach
financial objectives. Most companies are faced with questions such as: which projects should your
company invest in, which returns are needed and what risks are the company willing to take to achieve
company goals? This paper will explain what is, and how to calculate a weighted average cost of
capital of Tesco Plc based on company s balance sheet1 and cash flow statement.2 The second part
will focus on a report on the Tesco s cash flow over the two year period starting in 2005. In the last
part essay will explain what discount rate Tesco Plc. should use when deciding on major investment
projects.

WACC is calculated by multiplying the cost of each capital component by its proportional weight and
then summing:
WACC = ke We + kd Wd
Where kd cost of debt ke cost of equity
Wd weight of debt Vd / (Vd + Ve )
We weight of equity Ve / (Vd + Ve )
Data for Tesco is:
Debt £4,509 million
Cost of debt 5.376%
Weight of debt 4,509 / (4,509 + 9 444) = 0.3231
Equity £9 444 million
Cost of equity 8.306%
Weight of equity 9 444 / (4,509 + 9 444) = 0.6768
WACC = 8.306% x 0.6768+5.376% x 0.3231
WACC = 7.4407%
Tesco s weighted average cost of capital is 7.44%, this means that if the company takes on an
investment with return lesser than that figure it will make a loss. Not being able to cover costs of
financing will force shareholders to look for value elsewhere, consequently forcing them to look for
returns in different company.

Sugar s Effect On The Brain Essay
Sugar s Effect on the Brain
David Morrison
Genesee Community College
Abstract
Sugar is the most commonly consumed food on a daily basis. Sugar in low amounts is good for the
brain because it gives the brain energy. However, many people overindulge in sugar through soft
drinks and other sweets. Sugar has been shown to be addictive and its effects parallel with drugs like
cocaine. Also, sugar does mess up the brain s normal chemical production. It will even be detrimental
to physical parts of the brain. Sugar is a very powerful compound and people should be aware of the
effects it can have on adults and on growing minds.
Introduction Research shows that sugar has a major effect on dopamine production and is addictive.
Sugar also affects other brain chemicals like serotonin and acetylcholine. Sugar is a very simple
compound that has very powerful effects on the brain. Sugar addiction is proven and it is similar to
alcoholism and drug addiction. Sugar diminishes the effectiveness of dopamine receptors over time
and this causes you to eat more and more to get that same satisfying feeling. Sugar can even be
appealing while you are full and withdrawal symptoms of sugar parallel with drug withdrawal. Sugar
can affect the hippocampus negatively and many diseases are associated with excessive sugar intake.
This research should show the dangers of excess sugar intake considering how much sugar is in the
food people eat daily. Having addictions at an

Essay On Multi-Linear Regression
A sample size equaling 50 + 8m is required to do a multi linear regression, where m is the number of
independent variables chosen. At least 3 independent variables can be analyzed (assuming a moderate
effect size) taking males and females separately if an equal number of males and females are chosen
(Green, 1991). Thus the sample size is adequate for a multi linear regression analysis.
Therefore a sample size of 154 stable mentally ill patients is thus both practical and also would be
among the highest sample sizes used yet for such a requirement as this study.

Mexican American Culture Analysis
Mona and I had an interesting talk about how her family mixed the American and Italian cultures
together while they were raising her. She told me that many of the traditions and rituals to
commemorate a death in Italy are not practiced in the United States. This is mainly due to the villages
in Italy being so small, allowing the people to be more familiar with each other. A funeral in Italy
depends a great deal on the family and their financial position in the village. The more money, the
more prestigious and elaborate the event would be. Mona said that the deceased is kept in a casket at
the family home, and that people come to the house to remember the dead. The family decorates the
door of their home indicating that a death has occurred, and they also put a table outside, in front of
the house, with pictures of the deceased on it. They also post notices all over town telling that a death
has occurred, and about the life of the deceased. These things are the families way of letting the
village knows that someone has died. After everyone has visited the deceased they all go to the church
where a service is held, including a full mass. After the service the pall bearers carry the casket from
the church to the cemetery, and everyone follows. As the procession passes by the people in the village

The Importance Of Choosing A Career
Choosing a career is an immense decision that not only impacts your life but also the lives of others.
When we consider job occupations, several things come promptly to mind. We think about job
description and duties, the training and education required, job outlook, and annual salaries. These are
just a few of the factors I considered when searching for a profession. Since I was a child, I always
knew that I wanted to be in the medical field. I wanted a profession in which I would be afforded the
opportunity to make a difference in someone else s life. So I started to examine my interests and skills,
how long I wanted to be in school, the type of salary I wanted to make and the potential for job growth
in the industry. After investigating potential careers, I figured out exactly what I wanted to be: a
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. I chose a career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography because the job
outlook is bright, the pay is exceptional, I have most of the essential skills, and I can see myself
performing this job for years to come.
When it came to choosing a career, I wanted a profession where the pay is decent and there are
plentiful jobs in the workforce. Health careers are some of the fastest growing jobs in the U.S. and
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is no exception. Due to innovations in technology and the increased
dependence on diagnostic imaging for medical diagnosis, employment is projected to grow much
faster as more individuals are needed to fill

To Believe and To Change in Ayn Rand’s Anthem
To Believe and To Change Individuality arises when an individual encounters and endures a life,
taking their first step with their family which is the first society an individual faces. Through their
lives, individuals promote their own exclusive originalities, while Ayn Rand s novella Anthem
characterizes a totalitarian society suppressing individualism. In the society depicted in Anthem,
individualism is oppressed by the society imposing children live away from their families which is one
form of totalitarian dictator s authority. The intention of totalitarian dictators enforcing the
arrangement of children living apart from their families is to impede individualistic society avert
dissimilarities transpiring in the process of family influences in education, forfend the enlightenment
of emotions, and the establishment of collectivism. We strive to be like all our brother men, for all
men must be alike (Rand 21). Although being divergent is a sin, transgression in Anthem society,
Prometheus, the protagonist, defies against collectivism by standing out and becoming an outcast of
himself in his society with self assurance and eagerness. No one in Anthem society has individual
identity by inspecting the inexistence of the word I, while Prometheus detects the Unspeakable Word,
ego, exposing the readers to envisage the propitious prospect of the establishment of individualism.
Women never see their children and children never know their parents (Rand 41). Prometheus

Abolition of Slave Trade
The main reasons for the abolition of the slave trade
The trading and exportation of slaves has been a large part if Britain s history since the early 15th
century and the British Empire had been partly founded on the basis of exchanging slaves for goods
and foreign products. 400 years after the slave trade began and people were finally realising how
morally wrong the exchanging of humans actually was and on March 3, 1807, President Thomas
Jefferson signed into act a bill approved by Congress the day before to prohibit the importation of
slaves into any port or place within the jurisdiction of the United States. Three weeks later, on the

Religious factors also played a pivotal role in the abolition of the slave trade. Christian groups such as
the Quakers and Anglicans had been campaigning against slavery for a number of years. Before the
eighteenth century, very few white men questioned the morality of slavery. The Quakers and
Anglicans were among these few. The doctrines of their religion declared an issue such as slavery to

could actually be like older boys or their fathers and build stuff. Neither one of the toys that the boys
played with seemed that it would scar them for life. With Barbie they more and more have made her a
more positive role model by having her say encouraging things. So when it comes down to it, how a
young boy plays with his toys is the same as how a young girl plays with her Barbie s because they
both just want to have fun with a toy, and they can make it do whatever they wanted. Young children
could have control over something which both genders liked to do.
Barbie s intelligence has been one of the most debated topics about the doll. While some say that she
is just a bimbo, others find her to be a positive role model with all that Barbie can be. Schroeder says
that by playing with a Barbie that was either a Doctor Barbie or a Vet Barbie will send a young girl to
a therapist, and the infamous quote that one Barbie said Math class is tough (Schroeder 2). While
some of the things that Barbie used to be about looked badly upon the dolls intelligence there have
been may improvements since

Health Education Vs Health Promotion
While Health education and Health promotion have similar aims and objectives, they are both very
different concepts. Health education is a tool used to help people develop skills and behaviors that will
help them to be able to live healthier lifestyles. Health education helps to increase life expectancy by
giving people knowledge on how to prevent certain illnesses and diseases and also helps to reinforce
positive attitudes and behaviors towards health. Health promotion is a method use to spread awareness
of the importance of health. Usually in the form of advertisements, health promotion aims to get
people to try and get control over their health in order to improve it. Health promotion uses different
mechanisms in order to promote and support

Eukaryotic Cell Functions
All eukaryotic cells have microtubules, which are hollow rods assembled from a globular protein
called tubulin. Microtubules grow in length by adding tubulin dimers. Those dimers can also be
disassembled, which would allow the tubulin to build microtubules elsewhere in the cell. The two
opposite ends of of a microtubule are actually pretty unique. One end can can accumulate or release
tubulin dimers at a much higher rate which allows it to grow or shrink during cellular activities
(Campbell, pg.114). The microtubules and the motor proteins of a cell are closely related, which is
why I must introduce some of there functions. Cell motility generally requires interaction if the
cytoskeleton with motor proteins. They work together with plasma ... Show more content on

Now we are presented with microtubules again and this time I shall describe to you why this is part of
the correct choice. As microtubules structure actually serves as tracks, which organelles that are
equipped with motor proteins can use to move. That seems like one of the two functions we were
looking for that contribute to movement within a cell. Microtubules are often handled with the task of
guiding vesicles from the ER to the Golgi apparatus (Campbell, pg. 114). The next part of choice B is
motor proteins, which are often compared to as feet or how the cell walks to their destination. They
use the tracks provided by the cytoskeleton. The motor protein kind work with the cytoskeleton and
the plasma membrane molecules, which allow whole cells to move along fibers on the exterior portion
of the cell (Campbell, pg.113). Choice B is correct.
Choice C. I don t want to repeat myself and sound repetitive so I tried to give a detailed response to
choice A as to why actin filaments is incorrect. Actin filaments is more of a structural component of
the cell aiding it in bearing tension (Campbell, pg. 114) Motor proteins I tried to give a detailed
description in choice B as to why it is correct. Motor proteins work with various parts of the cell to
allow whole portions of a cell to move along fibers outside the cell (Campbell, pg.113). Choice C is

Vietnam Veteran Memorial
Look at all the memorials in Washington, D.C. You can see valiant, white memorials with heroic
individuals triumphing on top of black foundations but there is one exception. The proposed Vietnam
Veteran Memorial. The Vietnam Veteran Memorial is anti heroic. The memorial has nothing relating to
the war fought. Additionally, the judging panel that chose the memorial design had no Vietnam
veterans and didn t know enough of the war. The proposed Vietnam Veteran Memorial design is
disgraceful. The proposed design is a black wall sunk into a trench. In the article, Insulting Vietnam
Vets, By Tom Carhart, he states, ... memorial is anti heroic a black hole... universal color of sorrow
and dishonor. Hidden in a hole, as if in shame. The design gives the memorial a dishonorable feel
opposed to other memorials rising with victory in white marble, the universal color of purity. Either
the material choice of black granite or the choice to have the memorial in the ground need to be
revised in order to remove the disgraceful feel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The monument didn t need anything like rifles or explosives to signify the Vietnam War. A simple
inscription or symbol attributing to the sacrifices made would suffice. To honor and recognize the men
and women of the Armed Forces of the United States who served in the Vietnam war, the names
inscribed here preserve the memory of those who gave their lives and those that remain missing. from
James Webb in the Fine Arts Commission Statement. I believe the example inscription by James Webb

Serious Case Review
A Serious Case Review (SCR) is held when an at risk adult dies and neglect or abuse is suspected to
be a factor in their death. The aim of an SCR is for all agencies and people involved to learn lessons
about how they safeguard adults at risk and prevent such tragedies occurring in the future. The
purpose of the SCR is not to apportion blame, it is to: Establish whether lessons can be learned from
the case in which local professionals and agencies work together to safeguard vulnerable adults

Health and adult Social Care in England is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and they
ensure that the care people receive meets essential standards of quality and safety and they encourage
ongoing improvements by those who provide or commission care. They continuously monitor
compliance with essential standards and their assessors and inspectors frequently review all available
information they hold about a provider. Section 23(1) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 requires
that the CQC produce guidance for providers of health and adult social care, to help them comply with
the regulations within the Act that govern their activities. The Act, the regulations and this guidance
are part of a wider regulatory framework that includes regulation of professionals such as nurses,
doctors and social workers. The framework is designed to ensure that people who use services are

The Threat Against Sea Turtles
There are over 1 million known species of plants and animals that in habit the plant s oceans, and
scientist estimate that there are over 9 million more species that have yet to be discovered. Those
numbers seem to have great value, but when put in perspective there are only 7 species of sea turtles
in the vast ocean, those numbers don t seem so big after all. Even more so when you say all 7 species
are on the endangered list of extinction. One of the biggest threat against sea turtles, and all other
oceanic life, is the pollution crisis of plastics, glass, and all other trash. But as long as people dump
their trash in the oceans, and it doesn t violate the government s dumping regulations, then it s
perfectly http://i.imgur.com/foQcVja.jpg legal. Without breaking any laws, people will always
continue to do it and the ocean will continue to suffer because of it. On the other side of dumping trash
into the oceans scientist are gathering huge amounts of data on how we re killing the oceans and
everything that lives in it. That is why we must come to our senses and use the common ground of
finding a new way to dispose of trash and help rebuild the oceans to sustain life on the planet. When it
comes to pollution in the oceans people automatically think that they re talking about glass, trash, and
plastic. However, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) team has
collaborated to discuss just how exactly does the ocean get so polluted around the mainlands.

Service Dogs Essay
Animals, such as dogs have been service animals for a very long time, and helped many people that
suffer from many diseases. But, dogs aren t the only service animal out there. There can be animals
like reptiles that also can help people that are struggling with diseases and or disabilities. This is how
animals can help us with our everyday lives in many unique ways.
Dogs help humans in many different ways. In the article how the US military s use of dogs affects
their mental wellbeing by Ellen Briat, it talks about how dogs help people in the military. In the first
paragraph it says From 2008 to 2009, Gina served a six month tour of duty in Iraq. She was tasked

Yes, reptiles! Most service animals that are known to help humans are dogs. But reptiles such as
snakes can also be very helpful for humans. They can also improve people s lives in very unique
ways. In the a newspaper Can a snake be a service animal? by Nancy Bartley she states in the 3
paragraph Redrock the boa, Greene says angrily, is a service snake who alerts him to pending seizures
by giving him a hug. This shows that reptiles such as snakes can be helpful because since he always
has Redrock at his side his seizures won t be so unexpected because Redrock will help him and he
would know not to get close to people. But if Redrock wasn t there his owner his seizures won t be
that painful, which makes a snake a good service animal. Another reason why snakes can be a good
service animal because Nancy states in the The outcry was intense with some 4,500 messages, more
response than has been received for any other DOJ topic in recent memory, spokesman Alejandro
Miyar said. This shows that reptiles can be good or even great service animals because if reptiles can
give medical attention to 4,500 people it shows how useful a reptile can be. After this event the
president himself shut down DOJ before they could stop people to use reptiles as service animals. This
shows how useful not only a snake but any reptile could be a service animal and make a positive
change in a person s everyday

After a long battle with Parkinson s disease, Ali finally succumbed to complications this past week while being treated for respiratory issues in a Phoenix hospital. He was 74 years old. Ali s boxing career was marked by both brilliance and controversy. As a brash young pugilist, he made his mark on the boxing world in the late 1960s through the 1970s with a record of 55 5. Outside of the ring, Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay) garnered a reputation as a true humanitarian. Even during the 20 something years he was battling Parkinson s, he traveled the world and spoke out about poverty, racial inequality and the quest for peace throughout the world. If this is the case it is important for the therapist to listen to what that need is and to help the individual satisfy that need in a constructive and effective manner I imagine the therapists first challenge when presented with an individual who self harms is creating a space where the client can trust the therapist. I can imagine an individual who self harms will carry a large level of guilt and shame at the behaviour and it is as always vital to move at a pace the client is comfortable with. If I am aware of marks or cuts before the client has disclosed to me I will wait until the client feels safe or I feel is ready to talk about the behaviour. Often the client will not have appropriate support systems for whatever reason which puts them in a very vulnerable position. I would never suggest a no self harm contract as I feel that would create too much pressure. • 9. Comparing US And European Democracies 1. Thoroughly explain what a welfare state is. 1.) Welfare State is a system whereby the government undertakes to protect the health and well being of its people, especially those in financial or social need, by means of grants, pensions, and other benefits. In this world not everybody can be rich and successful, and thus some people have to work harder earning lower income to at least have a decent life. There are a lot of welfare programs that help people that are in need provided by the government. For example, the government helps the low income students by helping them pay for tuition and books with FAFSA 2. Compare and contrast the US welfare state to European Democracies (IE, size, benefits, etc). 2.) Comparing US Welfare state to the European Democracies can a little difficult. From the example I made in the last paragraph, it would not apply in Europe because college is tuition free, which is totally different from the US. One of the main reasons Europe has more welfare state is because their taxes are much more higher, and thus the government has more money to help their people. Another difference is the budget spending, which is more dedicated to welfare state rather than the military like in the US. The budget size and proportional spending are totally different in the US and Europe. 3. Aside from a higher tax ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Antimatter is exactly what you might think it is the opposite of normal matter, of which the majority of our universe is made. Until just recently, the presence of antimatter in our universe was considered to be only theoretical. In 1928, British physicist Paul A.M. Dirac revised Einstein s famous equation E=mc². Dirac said that Einstein didn t consider that the m in the equation mass could have negative properties as well as positive. At the atomic level, the world can be described in terms of the elements, including hydrogen, oxygen, carbon and the like. As it turns out, though, atoms are not the fundamental constituents of matter. When we zoom closer into matter, by probing at smaller distances, the subatomic world unfolds. The closer we look, the stranger this world, the quantum world, actually behaves. • 13. Men and Women in British Literature Essay The portrayal of men and women has varied in different stories throughout history. Many portray women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men are portrayed as being strong, masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works covered in the course Major British Writers to 1800, men are advised to refrain from acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall ability to succeed in whatever the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight when Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir Gawain is imperfect. While Sir Gawain was nearly beheaded as was Aristotle in their stories, the result of the deception by Fantomina was an unplanned pregnancy. I feel that Haywood shows morality in this result because, unlike other works, the man is not punished for being deceived, with the only real trouble of Beauplaisir being that he knows of the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment for his actions. Beauplaisir being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while Fantomina was sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained consistent with the portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal while also distinguishing herself and her work from other works. The portrayal of women in Milton s Paradise Lost is very different from the other works. While women are often seen as being deceitful, devious, and smart, the depiction of Eve is different as she is seen as being dumber and more inferior to Adam in all areas besides beauty. This portrayal of Eve assisted in the progression of Paradise Lost as Eve ate the forbidden apple after being persuaded by Satan to eat the apple. Poland s Economic Reform Plan Of 1989 The year of 1989 is generally regarded as a watershed moment in the history of Eastern Europe the one which effectively ended the dominance of Communist politics in the region formerly known as the Soviet Bloc. Comprised of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and East Germany, this region was politically and economically depended on the Soviet Union that largely dictated the official ideological orientation of the Soviet Bloc nations. In 1989, the region s dependence on the Soviet Union effectively came to an end along with the communist hegemony in Eastern Europe. At the same time, Eastern Europeans finally discovered the opportunity to make a transition from centralized socialism to democratic and decentralized form of market economy that was largely modeled on the Western democracies. The following chapter examines the extent to which Western theoretical and institutional trends influenced Poland s economic reform plan of 1989. At the same time, it seeks to account for Poland s own local tradition of neoliberal thought. In so doing, it aims to dispel the oversimplified interpretation of the transnational exchange between Polish and American economists according to which the former had to learn from scratch while the former assumed the role of educators. • 19. Analysis Of The Tell Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe, a prominent poet and writer in the 1800s, is known for his unique narration style. Through sentence structure and diction Poe creates a sensory reaction in his readers; for example, in The Tell Tale Heart the readers feel the panic of the narrator as the sentences get shorter and choppier. Poe s methods of influencing the reader s emotions are not just limited to these practices. In his stories of mystery and macabre Edgar Allan Poe has developed many unique characters with definitive traits who navigate their way through the author s intriguing plots and storylines. These writing methods are applied to Edgar Allan Poe s mystery story, The Murders in the Rue Morgue , in which the author establishes the story through a peripheral narrator, maintains the characterization of his protagonist, and utilizes diction unique to each aspect of the story. Poe s decisions create a mysterious suspense for the reader as the story unfolds. Edgar Allan Poe makes the conscious decision to narrate The Murders in the Rue Morgue through an outside narrator rather than from the perspective of his protagonist. This peripheral narration affects the reader s experience by implanting the feeling of awe that the narrator feels toward protagonist Auguste Dupin, even at the beginning of the story. Despite being a mystery, the story starts with neither a murder nor a mystery. Rather, Poe fleshes out the relationship between the narrator and Dupin as the narrator recounts their summer together. Through first person narration in Part One, readers witness Dupin s investigative skills for the first time. The narrator, representing the average person, is shocked by Dupin s intelligence, which allows him to practically read minds. The narrator then continues to serve as Dupin s admirer throughout the entire story. He prefaces the case by describing it as a very difficult problem a mystery, to which it was not possible to find an answer (Poe 46) to establish the difficulty of the task that Dupin decides to undertake. The narrator then serves as the relayer of evidence to the audience, challenging Dupin s thoughts on the case. He repeatedly calls out Dupin s name and questions evidence such as the ... Hemmingway uses these characters and their actions along with the setting and symbolism to paint a beautiful picture of an untruthful relationship and a secretive Operation that brings out the true feelings between an unknown couple. The point of view of this piece is told from the third person. Almost third person limited as we never get to hear the actual thoughts of any of the characters, making both of them rather unreliable as we never will know for certain the true intentions either one of them has. At the beginning of the story, the conversation between these two people seems very strange. Each of them are speaking but it is clear that neither are truly listening to what the other is saying making it obvious that each has something much bigger on their mind that they know they must address but neither are yet comfortable with bringing up the topic. She told me that many of the traditions and rituals to commemorate a death in Italy are not practiced in the United States. This is mainly due to the villages in Italy being so small, allowing the people to be more familiar with each other. Here is a case study followed by a series of questions to help you do just that (justify program, root cause analysis, identify community values/policy, financial/funding implications, personal leadership style). Dr. Davidson in Seattle encounters more and more parents who are hesitant about vaccinating their infant children. Rather than dismissing them from her practice, she uses counseling techniques/steps provided by AAP. She is sometimes successful with this approach, but it does no always work. There was a recent pertussis outbreak in WA state, but # of parents refusing vaccines keeps growing. Dr. Davidson plans to bring up this issue at the next WA State AAP chapter meeting. She thinks that it is imperative that pediatricians, schools and the public health community work together to develop a comprehensive strategy to address vaccine hesitancy. The confusing array of vaccine related information from media and internet sources, where misinformation becomes intertwined with reliable science based information, is a challenge for parents to ... • 41. A Young Woman Attends A Sexual Morality Conference Essay A young woman attends a sexual morality conference at the Student Union, listening intently. In front of her, a panel of religious leaders discuss their views on gender equality, homosexuality and transgender visibility. It s an odd topic, to be sure, but one that she says she finds fascinating. She studiously takes notes throughout. When asked why she was personally invested in the conference, her answer was simple. I m gay and I want to be a rabbi, she said. So I want to promote a better cultural understanding within religion. Kayla Symonds, a sophomore religion and cultural studies major at UCF, is the president of BAGELS+, a club for Jewish members of the LGBTQ+ community. BAGELS+ (an acronym for Bisexual, Asexual, Gay, Exploring and Lesbian Students) is a part of Central Florida Hillel, a Jewish cultural center for college students in the Central Florida area. As president of BAGELS+, Symonds plans events such as celebrations of Jewish holidays and scriptural readings. There s a lot more of us than you d think, Symonds said. According to Central Florida Hillel s mission page, UCF has the third largest Jewish student population outside of Israel, with an estimated 6,000 Jewish students attending. UCF is also well known for its LGBTQ+ inclusivity it s the only Florida school to make Campus Pride s Top 50 LGBT Friendly List as of 2014. The combined support from the Jewish and LGBTQ+ community made UCF the perfect environment for BAGELS+ to flourish. Symonds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Barbie is a Good Role Model Essay Barbie is a Good Role Model As a young girl the fondest memory was playing with all my Barbie dolls and having the time of my young youth. Getting new Barbie s for my birthday and Christmas was the highlight for my friends and I every year, and comparing which dolls the others got with each other. Never once growing up did any of us feel that Barbie was bad for us to play with, or that she was a bad role model. She could be anything that she wanted to be and her friends were all different too. Barbie was just a doll that we could make say what ever we wanted to, and we let our imaginations make each doll have their own personality. Our mothers played with them when they were our age and turned out pretty well, and no one that I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Girls liked playing with toy dolls that they could make say and do what ever they wanted, and they could live in a fantasy world with their friends. Boys liked playing with their toy trucks and tools because it was fun to run things over and play with toys in the dirt, or with the tools, they act like they could actually be like older boys or their fathers and build stuff. Neither one of the toys that the boys played with seemed that it would scar them for life. With Barbie they more and more have made her a more positive role model by having her say encouraging things. So when it comes down to it, how a young boy plays with his toys is the same as how a young girl plays with her Barbie s because they both just want to have fun with a toy, and they can make it do whatever they wanted. Young children could have control over something which both genders liked to do. Barbie s intelligence has been one of the most debated topics about the doll. While some say that she is just a bimbo, others find her to be a positive role model with all that Barbie can be. Schroeder says that by playing with a Barbie that was either a Doctor Barbie or a Vet Barbie will send a young girl to a therapist, and the infamous quote that one Barbie said Math class is tough (Schroeder 2). • 44. Eukaryotic Cell Functions All eukaryotic cells have microtubules, which are hollow rods assembled from a globular protein called tubulin. Microtubules grow in length by adding tubulin dimers. Those dimers can also be disassembled, which would allow the tubulin to build microtubules elsewhere in the cell. The two opposite ends of of a microtubule are actually pretty unique. One end can can accumulate or release tubulin dimers at a much higher rate which allows it to grow or shrink during cellular activities (Campbell, pg.114). The microtubules and the motor proteins of a cell are closely related, which is why I must introduce some of there functions. Cell motility generally requires interaction if the cytoskeleton with motor proteins. They work together with plasma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now we are presented with microtubules again and this time I shall describe to you why this is part of the correct choice. As microtubules structure actually serves as tracks, which organelles that are equipped with motor proteins can use to move. That seems like one of the two functions we were looking for that contribute to movement within a cell. Microtubules are often handled with the task of guiding vesicles from the ER to the Golgi apparatus (Campbell, pg. 114). The next part of choice B is motor proteins, which are often compared to as feet or how the cell walks to their destination. They use the tracks provided by the cytoskeleton. The motor protein kind work with the cytoskeleton and the plasma membrane molecules, which allow whole cells to move along fibers on the exterior portion of the cell (Campbell, pg.113). Choice B is correct. Choice C. I don t want to repeat myself and sound repetitive so I tried to give a detailed response to choice A as to why actin filaments is incorrect. Actin filaments is more of a structural component of the cell aiding it in bearing tension (Campbell, pg. 114) Motor proteins I tried to give a detailed description in choice B as to why it is correct. The Threat Against Sea Turtles There are over 1 million known species of plants and animals that in habit the plant s oceans, and scientist estimate that there are over 9 million more species that have yet to be discovered. Those numbers seem to have great value, but when put in perspective there are only 7 species of sea turtles in the vast ocean, those numbers don t seem so big after all. Even more so when you say all 7 species are on the endangered list of extinction. One of the biggest threat against sea turtles, and all other oceanic life, is the pollution crisis of plastics, glass, and all other trash. But as long as people dump their trash in the oceans, and it doesn t violate the government s dumping regulations, then it s perfectly http://i.imgur.com/foQcVja.jpg legal. Without breaking any laws, people will always continue to do it and the ocean will continue to suffer because of it. On the other side of dumping trash into the oceans scientist are gathering huge amounts of data on how we re killing the oceans and everything that lives in it. That is why we must come to our senses and use the common ground of finding a new way to dispose of trash and help rebuild the oceans to sustain life on the planet. When it comes to pollution in the oceans people automatically think that they re talking about glass, trash, and plastic. However, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) team has collaborated to discuss just how exactly does the ocean get so polluted around the mainlands. ... They can also improve people s lives in very unique ways. In the a newspaper Can a snake be a service animal? by Nancy Bartley she states in the 3 paragraph Redrock the boa, Greene says angrily, is a service snake who alerts him to pending seizures by giving him a hug. This shows that reptiles such as snakes can be helpful because since he always has Redrock at his side his seizures won t be so unexpected because Redrock will help him and he would know not to get close to people. But if Redrock wasn t there his owner his seizures won t be that painful, which makes a snake a good service animal.
