Much of the literature and research related to the use of cognitive behavioral therapy in the
treatment of chronic pain is rather new. Overall, upon reviewing the available literature, it appears
as though research is focused on determining what particular chronic pain populations experience
the most success with CBT based treatments. To begin, Loebach Wetherell et al. (2016) recently
published the results of their study on the impact of age on the efficacy of CBT and acceptance and
commitment therapy (ACT) in the treatment of chronic pain. The 114 individuals who participated
in this study were between the ages of 18 and 89. In order to be included in this study, subjects had
to have been suffering from nonmalignant, chronic pain for a minimum of six months and have a
minimum score of 5 on the severity and interference subscales of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI)
(Loebach Wetherell, Petkus, et al., 2016, p. 303). Following a medical and psychiatric evaluation,
subjects were randomized into groups that would receive either CBT or ACT. After completing a

her family s farm there. According to the 1921 Canada Census, she was a student attending school
nine months of the year. She appears on historical records as a Presbyterian like her father, rather
than a Roman Catholic like her mother.
On the 2nd March 1933, Evangeline married Abraham Abe Flanagan of Richibucto. Born in 1913
to parents Edgar and Bridget (nГ©e Radin) Flanagan, Abe was a mill employee and a member of
the Anglican Church. The pair were married at 125 Adelaide Street, Dalhousie by licence.
Evangeline s signature following her marriage in 1933.
Until at least 1935, the pair resided in Point La Nim. Abe, along with his brothers, all came to work

How Palm Oil Impacts The Sumatran Tiger
In the last two decades, palm oil has been one of the most imported goods around the world. In
fact, the top industries are located in Sumatra, Indonesia, holding up to 90% of the world s
exported palm oil. Palm oil comes from the palm fruit of the African oil palm trees, and is grown
mainly in the rainforest area. Unfortunately, the actions taken to grow these trees are causing
horrible impacts to the world s environment, such as deforestation, pollution, and increased
greenhouse gas emissions. Between 1985 and 2011, more than 30 million acres of the Sumatran
forest disappeared because of the involvement of palm oil. Because of these environmental impacts,
it s leading to animal cruelty, especially for the Sumatran tiger. The deforestation of palm oil is
driving Sumatran tigers toward extinction, because of the endangered wildlife environment,
hazardous plantations, and starvation. According to One Green Planet, at least 80% of the

Throughout my life, I believed that everyone is equal. Since America is known as the perfect
nation of freedom, growing up I thought that every person gets a fair chance to pursue whatever
he/she would like. It was not until the Trayvon Martin travesty that I had an epiphany; we, as

While the rest of the world appears to be seeing decreasing levels of violence, it appears the
Middle East has yet to experience this same trend. The past couple of decades have seen either a
decrease in violence and types of violence that the West has not experienced for a time. This then
