War Technology Research Paper
Technology is the use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes or applications, especially in an
industry or in our everyday lives. Technology usually involves in using an equipment and that
equipment can be very simple or very complicated to deal with. There are countless sources of
technology available to us along with multiple variations being created. Since the nineteenth century
to present day, the creation of technology has dramatically increased and improved. There are
technical devices for almost everything, currently, our society is living off of technology, due to that
fact that it makes any frequent task more convenient and effortless. Since the invention of the first
mechanical computer designed by Charles Babbage in 1822, our society that we know today has come
to be.
In 1936 Alan Turing, an English mathematical and a logician created the Turing machine (Copeland,
2000) which was originally created for the purpose a mathematical tool, it represented a computing
device that contained a read/write head or a scanner with a paper tape passing through it. This machine

At the time of the World War II, things were very different, they needed something or some
technology to strategize and make plans which could help them through their war. In 1941 a computer
called the Z3 was developed by a German engineer named Konrad Zuse, which was used for
aerodynamic calculations as designing airplanes and missiles for the war. The Z3 was the world s first
programmable automatic computer ( First generations computers, 2007). The Z3 used 2,300 relays
and was operated on a 22 bit word length at a 5 10 Hz clock frequency. However, in 1943, the Z3 was
destroyed in a bombing raid in Berlin, but Zuse did not stop there. He rebuilt the Z3 again after 17
years in the 1960s which became the Turing Complete (Brown, 2016) and as a result of the Z3, Zuse is
occasionally, known as the inventor of the

My Experience In Canada
Ever wonder what walking the Great Wall of China would be like? Ever dreamed of feeling the fresh
cold air of Canada? What s it like eating baguettes in France next to the Eiffel Tower? Traveling is a
popular dream among all of us, and making it a reality is a great learning experiences! I visited
Canada in April of 2017, and had a personal emotional attachment to the culture and the whole
environment, and the people I traveled with could say the same. Traveling is truly the most exciting
part in a person s life because it makes their dreams of meeting different cultures a reality and gives
them perspectives of seeing the world differently.
Traveling is an exciting learning experience. When people want to learn a different language, traveling
a different country will tremendously help them learn it. People usually learn their first language by
hearing it all the time by their family. When foreigners go to a different country, assimilating to the
language is much easier if they continue to hear it. When I visited Canada, and heard Canadian French
on the radio, in the streets, and in their music, it felt wonderful that I could understand what they were
saying and it made it easier actually processing the beautiful language. I always wondered why I
couldn t learn French that well in the United States of America, it s because I was so used to hearing
English all the time. This proves that traveling helps people learn languages better because hearing
that second language all

Canada s Contribution To The World
Canada s role in intervening in world incidents that pertain to humankinds wellbeing had different
impacts. It has only been over a hundred years since Canada has emerged into the international arena.
In the early twentieth century it made its contributions to the world even when not being an
autonomous state. Canada has joined different organizations that showed its stance in the world. As
time progressed the country s reputation stems from its distinguished contributions to maintain peace.
The country gained recognition for its efforts in the First World War; the most notable being their
victory at Vimy Ridge. Canada acquired an independent seat when the League of Nations formed and
partook in signing the Treaty of Versailles. As Canada developed a sense of independence, this meant
they d be an influence on foreign affairs, separate from Britain. During the interwar periods, Canada

History And Development Of Nursing Education
Comparing Nursing Education in Ireland and China Lakeisha Alexander Florida International
University Introduction The countries that I have chosen to research are Ireland and China. I chose
Ireland because while I was in high school there was an opportunity to study abroad in the country; I
was unable to participate in the program but was curious about what receiving an education there
would be like. My opinion of nursing education in Ireland is that it s at a basic level and not as
advanced as the nursing education you would receive in the United States. The other country that I
have chosen to research is China and this is because I think that they are advanced in technology and
because of their advancement the nursing education should be more progressive than in the United
States. Ireland and China are two different countries that have gone through tremendous strides to
bring about a successful nursing education system. Political History and Development of Nursing
Education Ireland. Nursing in Ireland begun in the 1950 1970 with the apprenticeship model, in the
model new nurses were trained on the job by more experienced nurses (O Dwyer, 2007). The
apprenticeship model was seen as not being financially sustainable in the 1950 1960, and Ireland was
unable to create an alternative model of nursing education. The educational needs of nurses were seen
as subordinate to the needs of the service and so nursing students were used as

Finding The Underlying Conflict Sam
The director may have used this portion of the movie to establish the underlying conflict Sam is being
questioned about. The court system consistently states that Lucy will surpass his IQ by her next
birthday. The judge claims that due to his low intelligence, Sam will not be able to take care of Lucy
as well as someone with a higher mental age. Although this is the court s assumption, does this make
Sam any less capable of raising Lucy?
Mindsets such as Henry Goddard, author of the Kallikak Family Study and translator of Binet s
original IQ test, mimic the thought process similar to the court system in the film. Goddard states that
the, fixed character of mental levels was the reason why some people were poor and unemployed. The

This response is the exact situation society should be avoiding. In this sense, the characters have
realistic attributes, but caricatured portrayals to hook the viewer and keep continuous interest.
However, I deeply question if this method is how cinema should educate society. Are these filmmakers
setting a stage for stereotypes and jokes that should not be laugh matters?
In I Am Sam, Samuel Dawson is fun loving, extroverted, and detail minded. He favors routine and
shows consistency in his love for others. When he s not dressed in his Starbucks uniform, he is
generally found wearing a neutral colored polo and jacket. Sam is presented as a persistent and
determined father who cares for anyone present in his life. His actions of love are displayed in big
events such as his fight for custody for his daughter as well as smaller scaled tasks like his delicacy in
organizing the sugar packets at his workplace.
Throughout the duration of the film, Sam encounters individuals who positively grow due to their
interactions with him. Characters such as Rita, enter his life with harsh attitudes and hostile
commentary. In Michelle Pfeiffer s opening scene, she s found cutting off her son and therapist in a
fury full of tears. She appears to be cold hearted and a hard professional shell to crack. Remarkably,
her time spent with Sam begins to mold her personality. While learning

The Good Life Is Life
The good life is life that should be focused on it s true denotation, a present body life, not an afterlife.
A key aspect of the good life is that it puts goals, dreams, and aspirations in the main focus. The good
life is not a refusal of God and eternity, rather places the religious ideas in the background to allow for
full pleasure by the individual. In addition, the good life cherishes the small things in life and places
importance on the finite, at risk, unique parts in the journey of an individual. Furthermore, in making
sure to not un properly empathize the small things in life, the good life in its whole values the daily
grind and experiences and aims to avoid becoming attached to material, fragile objects. Montaigne
says In my opinion, the most ordinary things, the most commonplace and best known can constitute, if
we know how to present them in the right life, the greatest of nature s miracles. (Montaigne, 1227)
Both philosophers are trying to find the best way to view life and use their work to try to get there.
Overall, the good life shares aspects of both philosophies of Boethius and Montaigne. But, in looking
at this idea in this work, the good life accepts and rejects pieces of the two philosophies and follows
itself more with the ideals of Montaigne. First, Montaigne writes in On Experience, death is a future
of our being and this is aligned with the good life because it accepts the notion of death and allows the
individual to worry less about death

The story Country Lovers was written in 1975 when times were different then they are today. This
story was written about a farmer s son and one of the children of the farm s help. There are many
aspects of this story that are wrong but the most pronounced one is the racial segregation. Even though
certain races are perceived as inferior to some, there should be no such thing because we all need to
work together to make the planet a better place and lives are ruined over racial this segregation. The
theme of this story is about tough choices and racial divides. Throughout the ... Show more content on

She also changed her testimony at the trial saying that she never saw what she said she did during the
preliminary inquiry. It is not made clear why she said that she saw him pour the liquid down the baby
s throat when what she heard were baby grunts as if the baby s stomach were full. All of this truly
shows how much she cared for Paulus. This story is about a place that is really hard for some of us in
America to understand because we do not live with this amount of segregation. In certain places in
Africa it is very strict on racial divides even to this day. Even with the world stage crying for equality
in race, ethnic and gender there are many countries today that still have strict ethnic and racial divides
as well as strict rules on the roles of women. Stories like this one should be part of any school s
curriculum. I did not know that countries were still like this until I was in my late teens early twenties.
I received a big dose of cultural sensitivity training on my plane ride to Afghanistan in later 2001. I
saw the horrible ways that women are treated over there and I saw this again on a trip to the horn of
Africa. I use the word horrible because that is what it is to me by the standards I was raised with, but it
is just normal life to them.

The Effect of pH and Temperature on the Efficiency of Catalase
Abstract: In order to determine how pH and temperature affect the liver enzyme catalase, an
experiment was conducted. Catalase breaks apart hydrogen peroxide producing water and oxygen.
Using an O2 sensor to measure how much additional oxygen is added into a sealed Nalgene bottle, we
could determine the enzymes effectiveness. Three variations of temperature were tested: cold, hot and
room temperature. This was done by taking test tubes with the three different samples and placing
them in a Nalgene Bottle. It was determined that the enzyme is most effective when at room
temperature although still functions when it is chilled. The heated sample was drastically less
effective. The pH was tested by adding acid (HCl), base () and neutral (water) to the enzyme. When
the enzyme samples were tested using the hydrogen peroxide and O2 sensor test it was determined

Its function is the speed up the decomposition of Hydrogen peroxide within cells. This is an important
function within living animals because it becomes a poisonous substance. Catalase breaks apart
hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen through enzyme substrate complexes. (Tully) The shape of
catalase is complex with various alpha helices and beta sheets. (Corsini) This shape is very important
to its function and variation in temperature and pH can denature the enzyme.
Hypothesis:
Part I: Testing the Effect of Heat If the enzyme temperature is decreased then it will not decompose
hydrogen peroxide because it normally functions at a higher body temperature.
Part II: Testing the Effect of pH If the enzyme pH is increased than it will not decompose because it
will be much more acidic than the more neutral environment it functions in.

The Negative Effects Of Dropping The Dropouts In Schools
Dropping the Dropouts
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world. It is difficult to prevent temptation within the student population when it comes to the harmful
aspects of our society and the effect it has. Most students strive to be cool or popular or simply fit in
when they attend grade school. Although not all students fall into the wrong path, every student
deserves assistance and the opportunity to grow and prosper. In the Pasadena Independent School
District (PISD) about 90% of the students are minorities. Meanwhile, in 2015 the highest percentage
of drop outs within ethnic groups was 9.6%; it belonged to a minority. Although minorities tend to
have higher dropout rates, there are nonprofit organizations established such as the Communities In
Schools After school Centers on Education program (CIS ACE). As an employee of this particular
organization, I can confirm that our main focus is student success in the Pasadena ISD. Regardless of
all the positive effects is has within our community and the hard work we put toward the program, it is
no longer receiving a grant to furthermore continue this program even though it is evident that
students in Pasadena ISD would be benefitted more than most compared to other school districts. This
is because there is not enough support from the administrators in the district and because those who
distribute the grants deliberately decided to give it to another district.

Skeletal System Essay
The basic framework of the body is a system of 206 bones and the joints between them are known as
the skeleton. Bones have a number of functions in the body, they serve as a firm framework, protect
delicate structures as the brain and spinal cord. They work as levers with attached muscles to produce
movement, they store calcium salts, which may be reabsorbed into the blood if calcium is needed, and
they produce red blood cells (in the red marrow). Bones are organs, with their own systems of blood
vessels, lymphatic vessels and nerves. There are two types of bone tissue. One type is compact bone,
which is hard and dense. The second type is spongy bone. It is made of a meshwork of small, bony
plates, filled with red marrow. The human skeleton ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

There are three primary functions of skeletal muscles; muscles in this system are attached to the bones
and produce movement of the skeleton. Muscles are attached to bones and contract to change the
position of the bones at a joint. Maintenance of posture a partial of muscle known, as muscle tone,
keeps the body in position. Muscles generate most of the heat needed to keep the body at 37 degree
Celsius. Heat is a natural byproduct of muscle cell metabolism. The structure of muscle is held by
connective tissue. There are three kinds of muscle tissue: smooth muscle which is in the wall of
hollow organs, vessels and respiratory passageways. Its action produces peristalsis; contracts and
relaxes slowly; may sustain contraction, it is an involuntary muscle. The cardiac muscle lies in the
wall of the heart. It pumps blood out of the heart and is an involuntary muscle. It contracts
rhythmically and continuously to provide the pumping action needed to maintain constant blood flow.
The skeletal muscle is attached to bones. It produces movement at the joints; stimulated by the

the upper extremities, include the muscles that determine the position of the shoulder, the anterior and

Analysis Of Silence Of The Lambs
ART 105: Film as Art
Critique One
Silence of the Lambs: Eating Other Movies with Fava Beans and a Nice Chianti
Silence of the Lambs is viewed as one of the greatest horror thriller films, as it has won Academy
Awards in all the top five categories: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and
Adapted Screenplay. Some of the people in our ART 105 class might not even want to see this movie
due to its realism of such a dark and painful story, as well as some of the graphic material shown. This
movie, however, is one of the best horror films of the century, in my humble opinion. I enjoy this
movie thoroughly and often watch it in my spare time, so I have plenty of opinions on every aspect of
this movie.
During this entire movie, all the main characters, to me, were all very interesting, as the two(ish)
antagonists are, to this day, traumatizing those who see them without having seen the movie. Clarice
Starling (Jodie Foster), the protagonist, is a very hard worker who is blunt and concerned more about
education and catching a killer, as she rejects advances by both Dr. Chilton (Anthony Heald), the
asylum owner, and an entomologist named Pilcher (Paul Lazar) , who ask about her personal life. She
is often enthralled with catching Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine) that even in one of the first scenes, she
already has her sights on him. She soon dedicates every spare moment trying to dig deeper, to find the
truth and to save lives. Also, Hannibal Lector (Anthony

Acids And Bases Lab Report
Acids and bases are very important. We clean with them, we eat them, and we use them to help in
chemistry. The ions who are the cause of acidic properties is H+ ions, or protons, and for basic
properties, it s the OH ions, or hydroxide ions. all of that is based on a theory called the dissociation of
water (which is H2O H+ + OH ). So the more H+ there is in a solution, the more acidic the solution is,
and the less H+ there is, the more basic it is. That is why there is H+ in solution factors on the pH
scale. The more protons present at one time means the pH scale decreases, and the H+ present goes
down. The pH scales job is to measure the acid and base levels of a substance and how strong they are.
The numbers on the scale go from 1 to 14, with 1 containing the most hydrogen ions and 14 having
the least. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Extracurricular Activities And Academic Success
Surveys show that around eighty percent of students participate in extracurricular activities.
Participating in an extracurricular activity involves balance between the activity and academics while
gaining positive impacts. Many people do not see or understand the importance of extracurricular
activities. Critics might argue that extracurricular activities may harm student academic success, but
what they do not realize is the benefits from extracurricular activities. The following argument started
when the question was raised of how students were spending their leisure time and what they gained
from their involvement. After school hours are the peak time for bad behaviors and crime for students.
However, extracurricular activities provide a shelter for students for fun activities. Extracurricular
activities contribute positively to student academic success by teaching responsibility, time
management, and team building skills. Responsibility is a substantial skill developed from
extracurricular activities that impact academic success. Responsibility promotes students to be held
accountable for their actions.
For example, students learn that they cannot always count on their parents. Students learn there will be
times when they have to do things on their own and figure out life by themselves. Parents are not
always going to be there by your side. Thankfully, extracurricular activities allow students to use
responsible skills in and outside of school. Responsibility gives

The standing practice was that currency would remain in the hands of the military administration
while valuables had to be transferred to the
Reich Central Bank in Berlin. In return for these valuables, the central bank transferred cash to the
local administration equivalent to the value of the items it had received (Arad 22). While the practices
of this are inequitable, in the eyes of their Nazi dictatorship, it was considered fair. They would take
the property of another human being and sell it so they could help their war effort to kill more people
that were against the Nazi government. In no way is taking the valuables of these innocent victims
just, and it is salt in the wound to sell their valuables to aid in their death. While the Nazi situation is
confiscation to the extreme, the principles of the practice are around today. To some, hearing the word

What are surfactants? Surfactants are chemicals that reduce the surface tension between two liquids
such as water and oil. It connects both polar and non polar molecules. Surfactants contain both a water

What do they do? Surfactants lower the surface tension of a liquid. They change the properties of
materials.
Examples: Sodium lauryl sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate, disodium lauryl sulfuccinate

Surfactants can break down oils and water
They are able to work with water and oil.
Cleansing the most common use of surfactants in cosmetics is for cleansing. This is because skin and
hair obtain a large amount of dirt from the environment, which is known as solid particulates, and
from hair follicles known as oily deposits, which stays there. Lipophilic substances (oil loving) attract
the oily deposits. Surfactants are used to get rid of them. Through the use of aligning lipophilic and
hydrophilic ends, it is able to take the lipids off the exterior.
Foaming Surfactant solutions can foam, as the air in liquids are trapped in the surfactant molecules.
Foam is often desirable among consumers for cosmetics, so it is a key feature of surfactants.
Emulsification A lot of cosmetic products want to add oily materials to it in order to have the preferred
effect on skin and hair. These ingredients usually can t be applied directly because they have
undesirable aesthetic characteristics in their concentrated form. For this reason, cosmetic chemists
create emulsions using

In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with similarly
processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known or the system may show a
similar face existing in database else it is unknown.
Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing solutions to several
practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the researchers to develop a facial recognition
system with 100% accuracy because of all the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human
face changes after a short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few
years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to verify the person.
Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the output of the face recognition system.
Face recognition is a biometric which is much easier to understand, because we recognize or identify
different people mostly by their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for
identifying faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable security
systems in

Electrical Device Between Two Circuit Through...
INTRODUCTION
The transformer is an electrical device which transfers energy between two circuit through
electromagnetic induction. Transformer may be used as a safe and efficient voltage changer to change
the Alternating Current voltage at it s input to a higher and lower voltage at its output without
changing it s frequency. Other uses include current conversion, isolation with or without changing
impedance and voltage conversion. A transformer consists of two windings of wire that are wound
around a common core and it provides tight electromagnetic coupling between the windings and
makes a couple. The core material is may be of a laminated iron core. The coil that receives the
electrical input energy is referred to as primary winding, the output coil is secondary winding. An
alternating current flows through the primary winding coil of a transformer generates electromagnetic
field which varies in its surroundings and induces a varying magnetic flux in the core of a transformer.
The electromagnetic field varies in the vicinity of the secondary winding induces an electromotive
force in a secondary winding and appears as a voltage across the output terminals. If a load is
connected across the secondary winding, a current flows through the secondary winding and drawing
power from the primary winding and its power source. A transformer cannot operate with direct
current(DC). When connected to a Direct Current source, a transformer typically produces a very short
output

The Importance Of A Student And My Impression Management
Good morning Boonville, Missouri. It is 4:30 AM, I am Lance the higher learner, and there is work,
try to think of it as fun, to do. This morning I am playing the role of a student and I start it by combing
my hair, dressing, turning on the computer, the lights, and pointing the fan at me. Even though no one
sees me here, I pay attention to my impression management, as it results in a continual realignment of
the individuals performances, as the actors refit their roles using dress, objects, voice, and gestures in
a joint enterprise (Chambliss Eglitis, 2016, p. 96). With everything in place I fancy myself not only in
school, but confronting and solving the world s problems to an Einstein envy. There is a purpose to my
early morning routine. I am working with my learned preconventional stage theory, where people seek
simply to achieve personal gain or avoid punishment (Chambliss Eglitis, 2016, p. 85). Waiting for the
world to self destruct I can see through the window it has not. It is a dewy morning, and the dogs have
gotten a drink and went back to bed. I do wonder if I came back to school because it was the right
time, unemployment through the accident, or a feeling of missing out on what could be (Hardiman,
2014, p. 33). Some feeling of intelligence has allowed me to enroll when previously I believed school
was only for people smarter than me. Regardless of the reason I feel indebted to the cosmos for the
opportunity. Being that I am not seen here

Thesis Statement In Azadi
The target readership, market potential and why this book will appeal.
The objective readership of my novel will comprise youth with a flair for novelty and curiosity, to
know more about this maligned society and relationship between the old and the young. This novel
will go a long way among those people, who wants to understand the havoc caused by the partition of
India in 1947. The characters of the book will depict their relationship and the plight they suffered
from the hands of their own. In a way the contents are the ugly truth of the society, impact of the
commercial world and the perverted nature of the characters.
The market potentiality of any book no doubt depends to a great extent by the contents it holds, but
the publisher has additionally very important role to play as regards promotion, sales, advertisement is
concerned. The novel should get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As far as anyone is concerned, there is no novel of such contents in the market, however certainly
books on partition are accessible in the market in plenty. One such novel Azadi by Shri Chaman
Nahal, published perhaps by Penguin Books was read by me around five years back. Azadi purely
dealt with a family and the catastrophe they faced at the time of partition, but nothing about the
aftermath.
This novel likewise encompasses its character from erstwhile Pakistan, with a short portrayal about
the condition in Lahore and Pakistan at the time of partition and the circumstances which constrained
my characters to escape muslim dominated Pakistan.
My book doesn t in any capacity contrasts with those titles, the story and the concluding part. It is a
tale of a woman born out of the union of partition refugees, her marriage without getting her blessing
and her loathsome activities, mind blowing, perverted strategies towards her spouse and her
exceedingly undesirable sexual

Mixed Bloods Are The Ones Who Succeed In Life
Deconstruction
Why is it that Aboriginal people who have mixed blood are the ones who succeed in life?
Introduction
The assumption that only Aboriginal peoples who have mixed blood succeed in life is portrayed by
Westerners due to many factors. The belief that white blood or one race is superior over another has
been put in front of people since the beginning of time. Although we like to believe that today this
belief has died a long time ago, it still manages to pop up from time to time. This can be caused by
stereotypes, history and unintentional ideas from the government. The assumption of mixed bloods
succeeding in life can be quite different from one person to another, as everyone has different views
on success due to gender,

Walt Disney America`s Great American
On December 5, 1901, Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney gave birth to a man who would eventually
change our world by the creation of a little mouse. Walter Elias Disney, who was also known as Walt,
was born in a small town in Chicago, Illinois, by a father who was an Irish Canadian descent, and his
mother who was a German English descent. Walt was one out of five children, four brothers and a
sister. Their names were Herbert Arthur Disney, Raymond Arnold Disney, Roy Oliver Disney, and
Ruth Flora Disney. Walt was the oldest one out of the five. While he attended school, he was
introduced to Walter Pfeiffer, who decided to show Walt vaudeville and the art of making movies.
Walt decided to drop out of high school, at the age of sixteen, to join the army. He was rejected to join
because he was too young of age. He and a friend decided to join the Red Cross, where Walt was an
ambulance driver during World War II. In 1919, Walt moved to Kansas City to begin a career in art,
and worked for the newspaper, as a newspaper artist. He met Ubbe Iwerks, and he and Disney soon
made their own commercial company called, Iwerks Disney Commercial Artists. After he met Ubbe
Iwerks, Disney and Iwerks decided to open a company called Laugh o Grams, which screened short
animated cartoons that became very popular in the area of Kansas City. Disney hired a number of
animators to work in the company. Unfortunately, the studio profits failed, and Disney ended up in
loads of debt, and became

Abortion Debate Analysis
The argument of legalizing abortion has been spread out over society like a wild fire on a dry summer
day, but there are five points that are constantly being hit, legal precedence, birth control issues,
human rights, religion, and when life begins. Based on both moral and empirical claims, this issue has
reached to the public on whether or not abortion should be legalized. As both advocate groups define
this issue on its constitutionality and moral views, it is represented by their constituents, political
figures view this issue as a party line, Pro life conservatives and Pro choice liberals. While the media
views this issue morally and represents the wide spread views of people that have sided with Pro
Choice or Pro Life, however the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wade, and in Mcorvey v. Hill the supreme court turned down Mcorvey s cast in support of what Roe
v. Wade stood for. Back to the topic of when life begins, this is where pro choice begins to sprout,
because even though pro choice does fight for the legalization of abortion, they still have a moral side
of when they believe aborting a fetus is morally right and wrong and the morally wrong thing to do is
abort a fetus that is able to live on its own. According to Dr. Shuman and WebMD a fetus can live on
its own after twenty two weeks, or five and a half months into pregnancy. While this gives the women
to decide on whether or not they want to abort the pregnancy, it also gives them more of a choice
instead of stripping it

Should the US Government Bail Out and Subsidize the...
1) Should the US government bail out and/or subsidize the American maritime industry? If not, why
not? If so to what extent? There is little argument among national policymakers that the American
economy was severely horsewhipped by the Great Recession of 2008, and that the country has only
recently recovered sufficiently for economists to breathe a sigh of relief that the corner has been
turned. Likewise, there is virtually no argument among national policymakers that a healthy maritime
industry is also an essential component of the American economy. Finally, there is significant historic
precedent. The U.S. government has bailed out other industries and sectors in the past that were
viewed as being too large to fail because of the potential adverse impact on the American economy.
For instance, in his editorial, Rebuilding America and Creating Jobs A Jones Act Initiative, Munoz
(2011) writes, After bailing out the auto industry with $25 billion in loans and guarantees, the
government turned around and provided another $25 billion for the industry to retool its plants to
compete on world markets. The experiment succeeded, and American cars and trucks are now among
the best in the world (2). Moreover, it is national policy to support the maritime industry. According to
Section 1, Purpose and policy of United States, 46 App. U.S.C. 861, 2002: It is necessary for the
national defense and for the proper growth of its foreign and domestic commerce that the

Examples Of Non-Therapeutic Communication
Non Therapeutic Communication
Quote: You need to fix yourself up. You remind me of my dogs when they come in out of the rain.
(page 189, Baier)
Background: Sue is in a wheelchair having a hard day and aware of her current greasy and unkept
appearance. Dr. Birmingham approaches her and studies her unhygienic condition and verbally
degrades her.
Technique: Patronizing
Rationale: Dr. Birmingham s comment to the patient is inappropriate and talking down to the patient
stating she looks like a wet dog. If the patient was able to communicate she would have addressed his
unprofessional comment and stated she still depends on the health care staff to tend to her personal
hygiene needs.
Social Communication
Quote: It s cold out tonight. It gets cold in here when the temperature goes down...There those will
keep your feet warm... There have a good night s sleep and I ll see you in the morning. (p. 116 117,
Baier)
Background: Off duty Charles stopped at the hospital to make sure Sue was being tended to. Charles
used his own personal time to come to the hospital to put socks and a blanket on Sue to make sure she
would not get cold during the night.
Effect: Positive
Rationale: Sue was baffled that Charles would leave a personal event to tend to her needs. This over
the top care by Charles makes Sue feel personally connect to Charles. Sue stated, My heart filled with
smiles. What a kind man. (p.117) Social Communication

Norma Health Issues
While chatting, Norma mentioned a couple of things that have helped her successfully age into a
healthy older woman. Norma believes that getting up every day before work to exercise along with
eating well has kept her healthy. I try to eat mainly things that I grow in my garden and raise on our
farm. It not only helps me stay healthy, but I can also save money for retirement, when and if that time
comes around she says laughing. She also says that she tries to keep active with her knitting groups,
gardening, caring for the animals on their hobby farm and the friends that she gets together with
weekly for lunch. She also said that her co workers are a huge part of her health as they go for walks
around campus for a quick break. Many elderly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cross sectional studies would indicate that Norma should be experiencing health issues and poorer
physical function as she has begun to age but as of now she has yet to experience any. The cross
sectional studies say The older the person, on average, the poorer his or her physical function. (Novak)
So far so good, I feel great but things can always change in an instant says Norma. As we continued to
talk about health and societies view on aging she really gave off the vibe that she doesn t care too
much about what society thinks but does realize that it is a huge issue for many people. Aging is never
easy and nobody wants to look old but Norma says, Aging is natural and society puts too much
pressure on people to always look young. If you feel young, then you are. One thing I noticed
throughout our conversation was that she strongly credited her faith for being a huge role in, not only
her life, but in her success in being healthy. She believes that because she has been faithful to her
church and to God, that he has blessed her with a healthy life and

Organizational Culture Is The Key Values, Beliefs And...
Organizational Culture:
Organizational Culture is the key values, beliefs and attitudes shared by the members of an
organization. Organizational culture includes an organization s expectations, experiences, philosophy,
and values that hold it together, and is expressed in its self image, inner workings, interactions with
the outside world, and expectations for the future. A key source of organizational culture is usually its
founder. It can be sustained by creating and spreading organizational stories and organizational heroes.
London Drugs has had a strong culture since it was founded 70 years ago. Their culture was originally
focused on entrepreneurship and is very original. A big part of their culture focuses on taking care of
their people and helping out communities. London drugs does this by providing family assistance
program to its employees. An example of this family assistance program is where employees are
helped during their hard times like funerals. Keeping the environment clean is another important
element of London Drugs culture. They have created the What s the Green Deal? program, which
ensures everything in the company is done in a way which does not harm the environment. According
to the Vice President of London Drugs, the best part of the company s culture is that you get a very
open, familial feeling when you are working. The reason behind is that everyone knows how to treat
each other and support each other. A big part of the culture is to focus on

Essay Comparing Grey s Anatomy And Empire
While hit TV series Grey s Anatomy and Empire are both extremely popular, they differ greatly in the
language used. In order to complete this project, I took linguistic concepts I had learned about in the
text such as grammar, context, and communicative competence and applied them to the language
usage in these TV series. A lot can be assumed about different characters based solely on their speech.
Take for instance two of the main characters in Grey s Anatomy, Meredith and Derek. Simply by
listening to their proper grammar, it is noticeable that they have received a formal education and are
quite intelligent. We would most likely assume that they grew up in a middle class home with working
parents who could afford their education.
Compare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is not a wide variety in speech in each show. Grey s Anatomy is typically more formal and
professional while Empire is slightly less formal. The characters mentioned so far have been couples
or former couples. Because of this, they speak differently with each other than they do with other
characters in the show. A strong use of communicative practices is apparent for all characters. For
example, Meredith and Derek from Grey s Anatomy are married. They have more casual conversation
with one another compared to Meredith and her boss, Richard. Lucious and Cookie are a former
couple. They may have a more personal relationship but there is obvious tension between them. Each
character has a different discourse genre. While I have not watched every episode of these two
television programs, from what I have observed, code switching has not occurred. While there is a
wide variety in regards to the ethnicity of different characters, none of them are multilingual.
However, it is possible that code switching could occur in future episodes. For example, in Grey s
Anatomy they get many different types of patients. It is very likely that one of those patients may
speak two languages and switch in times of stress. The same is true of Empire. The clientele dealt with
in Empire ranges and there is a strong possibility one of those characters could practice code

  • 2. War Technology Research Paper Technology is the use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes or applications, especially in an industry or in our everyday lives. Technology usually involves in using an equipment and that equipment can be very simple or very complicated to deal with. There are countless sources of technology available to us along with multiple variations being created. Since the nineteenth century to present day, the creation of technology has dramatically increased and improved. There are technical devices for almost everything, currently, our society is living off of technology, due to that fact that it makes any frequent task more convenient and effortless. Since the invention of the first mechanical computer designed by Charles Babbage in 1822, our society that we know today has come to be. In 1936 Alan Turing, an English mathematical and a logician created the Turing machine (Copeland, 2000) which was originally created for the purpose a mathematical tool, it represented a computing device that contained a read/write head or a scanner with a paper tape passing through it. At the time of the World War II, things were very different, they needed something or some technology to strategize and make plans which could help them through their war. In 1941 a computer called the Z3 was developed by a German engineer named Konrad Zuse, which was used for aerodynamic calculations as designing airplanes and missiles for the war. The Z3 was the world s first programmable automatic computer ( First generations computers, 2007). The Z3 used 2,300 relays and was operated on a 22 bit word length at a 5 10 Hz clock frequency. However, in 1943, the Z3 was destroyed in a bombing raid in Berlin, but Zuse did not stop there. He rebuilt the Z3 again after 17 years in the 1960s which became the Turing Complete (Brown, 2016) and as a result of the Z3, Zuse is occasionally, known as the inventor of the ... What s it like eating baguettes in France next to the Eiffel Tower? Traveling is a popular dream among all of us, and making it a reality is a great learning experiences! I visited Canada in April of 2017, and had a personal emotional attachment to the culture and the whole environment, and the people I traveled with could say the same. Traveling is truly the most exciting part in a person s life because it makes their dreams of meeting different cultures a reality and gives them perspectives of seeing the world differently. Traveling is an exciting learning experience. When people want to learn a different language, traveling a different country will tremendously help them learn it. People usually learn their first language by hearing it all the time by their family. When foreigners go to a different country, assimilating to the language is much easier if they continue to hear it. When I visited Canada, and heard Canadian French on the radio, in the streets, and in their music, it felt wonderful that I could understand what they were saying and it made it easier actually processing the beautiful language. I always wondered why I couldn t learn French that well in the United States of America, it s because I was so used to hearing English all the time. This proves that traveling helps people learn languages better because hearing that second language all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. History And Development Of Nursing Education Comparing Nursing Education in Ireland and China Lakeisha Alexander Florida International University Introduction The countries that I have chosen to research are Ireland and China. I chose Ireland because while I was in high school there was an opportunity to study abroad in the country; I was unable to participate in the program but was curious about what receiving an education there would be like. My opinion of nursing education in Ireland is that it s at a basic level and not as advanced as the nursing education you would receive in the United States. The other country that I have chosen to research is China and this is because I think that they are advanced in technology and because of their advancement the nursing education should be more progressive than in the United States. Ireland and China are two different countries that have gone through tremendous strides to bring about a successful nursing education system. Political History and Development of Nursing Education Ireland. Nursing in Ireland begun in the 1950 1970 with the apprenticeship model, in the model new nurses were trained on the job by more experienced nurses (O Dwyer, 2007). The apprenticeship model was seen as not being financially sustainable in the 1950 1960, and Ireland was unable to create an alternative model of nursing education. The educational needs of nurses were seen as subordinate to the needs of the service and so nursing students were used as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Finding The Underlying Conflict Sam The director may have used this portion of the movie to establish the underlying conflict Sam is being questioned about. The court system consistently states that Lucy will surpass his IQ by her next birthday. The judge claims that due to his low intelligence, Sam will not be able to take care of Lucy as well as someone with a higher mental age. Although this is the court s assumption, does this make Sam any less capable of raising Lucy? Mindsets such as Henry Goddard, author of the Kallikak Family Study and translator of Binet s original IQ test, mimic the thought process similar to the court system in the film. Goddard states that the, fixed character of mental levels was the reason why some people were poor and unemployed. The fault ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This response is the exact situation society should be avoiding. In this sense, the characters have realistic attributes, but caricatured portrayals to hook the viewer and keep continuous interest. However, I deeply question if this method is how cinema should educate society. Are these filmmakers setting a stage for stereotypes and jokes that should not be laugh matters? In I Am Sam, Samuel Dawson is fun loving, extroverted, and detail minded. He favors routine and shows consistency in his love for others. When he s not dressed in his Starbucks uniform, he is generally found wearing a neutral colored polo and jacket. Sam is presented as a persistent and determined father who cares for anyone present in his life. His actions of love are displayed in big events such as his fight for custody for his daughter as well as smaller scaled tasks like his delicacy in organizing the sugar packets at his workplace. Throughout the duration of the film, Sam encounters individuals who positively grow due to their interactions with him. Characters such as Rita, enter his life with harsh attitudes and hostile commentary. In Michelle Pfeiffer s opening scene, she s found cutting off her son and therapist in a fury full of tears. She appears to be cold hearted and a hard professional shell to crack. Remarkably, her time spent with Sam begins to mold her personality. While learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Good Life Is Life The good life is life that should be focused on it s true denotation, a present body life, not an afterlife. A key aspect of the good life is that it puts goals, dreams, and aspirations in the main focus. The good life is not a refusal of God and eternity, rather places the religious ideas in the background to allow for full pleasure by the individual. In addition, the good life cherishes the small things in life and places importance on the finite, at risk, unique parts in the journey of an individual. Furthermore, in making sure to not un properly empathize the small things in life, the good life in its whole values the daily grind and experiences and aims to avoid becoming attached to material, fragile objects. Montaigne says In my opinion, the most ordinary things, the most commonplace and best known can constitute, if we know how to present them in the right life, the greatest of nature s miracles. (Montaigne, 1227) Both philosophers are trying to find the best way to view life and use their work to try to get there. Overall, the good life shares aspects of both philosophies of Boethius and Montaigne. But, in looking at this idea in this work, the good life accepts and rejects pieces of the two philosophies and follows itself more with the ideals of Montaigne. First, Montaigne writes in On Experience, death is a future of our being and this is aligned with the good life because it accepts the notion of death and allows the individual to worry less about death ... A Story of Race and a Forbidden Love A Story of Race and a Forbidden Love Kevin Michael Albeck (KEABEC2492) ENG125 Prof. Danielle Slaughter November 16, 2012 The story Country Lovers was written in 1975 when times were different then they are today. This story was written about a farmer s son and one of the children of the farm s help. There are many aspects of this story that are wrong but the most pronounced one is the racial segregation. Even though certain races are perceived as inferior to some, there should be no such thing because we all need to work together to make the planet a better place and lives are ruined over racial this segregation. The theme of this story is about tough choices and racial divides. Throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also changed her testimony at the trial saying that she never saw what she said she did during the preliminary inquiry. It is not made clear why she said that she saw him pour the liquid down the baby s throat when what she heard were baby grunts as if the baby s stomach were full. All of this truly shows how much she cared for Paulus. This story is about a place that is really hard for some of us in America to understand because we do not live with this amount of segregation. In certain places in Africa it is very strict on racial divides even to this day. Even with the world stage crying for equality in race, ethnic and gender there are many countries today that still have strict ethnic and racial divides as well as strict rules on the roles of women. Stories like this one should be part of any school s curriculum. I did not know that countries were still like this until I was in my late teens early twenties. I received a big dose of cultural sensitivity training on my plane ride to Afghanistan in later 2001. I saw the horrible ways that women are treated over there and I saw this again on a trip to the horn of Africa. Liver Enzyme Lab Andra Larade Bio 30 B7 11/20/15 Liver Enzyme Lab The Effect of pH and Temperature on the Efficiency of Catalase Abstract: In order to determine how pH and temperature affect the liver enzyme catalase, an experiment was conducted. Catalase breaks apart hydrogen peroxide producing water and oxygen. Using an O2 sensor to measure how much additional oxygen is added into a sealed Nalgene bottle, we could determine the enzymes effectiveness. Three variations of temperature were tested: cold, hot and room temperature. This was done by taking test tubes with the three different samples and placing them in a Nalgene Bottle. It was determined that the enzyme is most effective when at room temperature although still functions when it is chilled. The heated sample was drastically less effective. The pH was tested by adding acid (HCl), base () and neutral (water) to the enzyme. When the enzyme samples were tested using the hydrogen peroxide and O2 sensor test it was determined that any ... (Corsini) This shape is very important to its function and variation in temperature and pH can denature the enzyme. Hypothesis: Part I: Testing the Effect of Heat If the enzyme temperature is decreased then it will not decompose hydrogen peroxide because it normally functions at a higher body temperature. • 12. The Negative Effects Of Dropping The Dropouts In Schools Dropping the Dropouts Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. It is difficult to prevent temptation within the student population when it comes to the harmful aspects of our society and the effect it has. Most students strive to be cool or popular or simply fit in when they attend grade school. Although not all students fall into the wrong path, every student deserves assistance and the opportunity to grow and prosper. In the Pasadena Independent School District (PISD) about 90% of the students are minorities. Meanwhile, in 2015 the highest percentage of drop outs within ethnic groups was 9.6%; it belonged to a minority. Although minorities tend to have higher dropout rates, there are nonprofit organizations established such as the Communities In Schools After school Centers on Education program (CIS ACE). As an employee of this particular organization, I can confirm that our main focus is student success in the Pasadena ISD. Regardless of all the positive effects is has within our community and the hard work we put toward the program, it is no longer receiving a grant to furthermore continue this program even though it is evident that students in Pasadena ISD would be benefitted more than most compared to other school districts. This is because there is not enough support from the administrators in the district and because those who distribute the grants deliberately decided to give it to another district. ... Bones have a number of functions in the body, they serve as a firm framework, protect delicate structures as the brain and spinal cord. They work as levers with attached muscles to produce movement, they store calcium salts, which may be reabsorbed into the blood if calcium is needed, and they produce red blood cells (in the red marrow). Bones are organs, with their own systems of blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and nerves. There are two types of bone tissue. One type is compact bone, which is hard and dense. There are three primary functions of skeletal muscles; muscles in this system are attached to the bones and produce movement of the skeleton. Muscles are attached to bones and contract to change the position of the bones at a joint. Maintenance of posture a partial of muscle known, as muscle tone, keeps the body in position. Muscles generate most of the heat needed to keep the body at 37 degree Celsius. Heat is a natural byproduct of muscle cell metabolism. The structure of muscle is held by connective tissue. There are three kinds of muscle tissue: smooth muscle which is in the wall of hollow organs, vessels and respiratory passageways. Its action produces peristalsis; contracts and relaxes slowly; may sustain contraction, it is an involuntary muscle. The cardiac muscle lies in the wall of the heart. It pumps blood out of the heart and is an involuntary muscle. It contracts rhythmically and continuously to provide the pumping action needed to maintain constant blood flow. Analysis Of Silence Of The Lambs ART 105: Film as Art Critique One Silence of the Lambs: Eating Other Movies with Fava Beans and a Nice Chianti Silence of the Lambs is viewed as one of the greatest horror thriller films, as it has won Academy Awards in all the top five categories: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Adapted Screenplay. Some of the people in our ART 105 class might not even want to see this movie due to its realism of such a dark and painful story, as well as some of the graphic material shown. This movie, however, is one of the best horror films of the century, in my humble opinion. I enjoy this movie thoroughly and often watch it in my spare time, so I have plenty of opinions on every aspect of this movie. During this entire movie, all the main characters, to me, were all very interesting, as the two(ish) antagonists are, to this day, traumatizing those who see them without having seen the movie. Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster), the protagonist, is a very hard worker who is blunt and concerned more about education and catching a killer, as she rejects advances by both Dr. Chilton (Anthony Heald), the asylum owner, and an entomologist named Pilcher (Paul Lazar) , who ask about her personal life. She is often enthralled with catching Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine) that even in one of the first scenes, she already has her sights on him. She soon dedicates every spare moment trying to dig deeper, to find the truth and to save lives. Also, Hannibal Lector (Anthony ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Acids And Bases Lab Report Acids and bases are very important. We clean with them, we eat them, and we use them to help in chemistry. The ions who are the cause of acidic properties is H+ ions, or protons, and for basic properties, it s the OH ions, or hydroxide ions. all of that is based on a theory called the dissociation of water (which is H2O H+ + OH ). So the more H+ there is in a solution, the more acidic the solution is, and the less H+ there is, the more basic it is. That is why there is H+ in solution factors on the pH scale. The more protons present at one time means the pH scale decreases, and the H+ present goes down. The pH scales job is to measure the acid and base levels of a substance and how strong they are. The numbers on the scale go from 1 to 14, with 1 containing the most hydrogen ions and 14 having the least. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Participating in an extracurricular activity involves balance between the activity and academics while gaining positive impacts. Many people do not see or understand the importance of extracurricular activities. Critics might argue that extracurricular activities may harm student academic success, but what they do not realize is the benefits from extracurricular activities. The following argument started when the question was raised of how students were spending their leisure time and what they gained from their involvement. After school hours are the peak time for bad behaviors and crime for students. However, extracurricular activities provide a shelter for students for fun activities. Extracurricular activities contribute positively to student academic success by teaching responsibility, time management, and team building skills. Responsibility is a substantial skill developed from extracurricular activities that impact academic success. Responsibility promotes students to be held accountable for their actions. For example, students learn that they cannot always count on their parents. Students learn there will be times when they have to do things on their own and figure out life by themselves. Parents are not always going to be there by your side. Thankfully, extracurricular activities allow students to use responsible skills in and outside of school. Responsibility gives ... Each of these rights are firmly stated in the Constitution, along with many other rights that citizens of the Untied States have. In return for these valuables, the central bank transferred cash to the local administration equivalent to the value of the items it had received (Arad 22). While the practices of this are inequitable, in the eyes of their Nazi dictatorship, it was considered fair. They would take the property of another human being and sell it so they could help their war effort to kill more people that were against the Nazi government. Facial Recognition System CHAPTER 1 FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM 1.1 INTRODUCTION A biometrics is, Automated methods of recognizing an individual based on their unique physical or behavioral characteristics. For example face, fingerprint, signature, voice etc. Face recognition is a task humans perform remarkably easily and successfully. In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with similarly processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known or the system may show a similar face existing in database else it is unknown. Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing solutions to several practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the researchers to develop a facial recognition system with 100% accuracy because of all the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human face changes after a short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to verify the person. Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the output of the face recognition system. Face recognition is a biometric which is much easier to understand, because we recognize or identify different people mostly by their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for identifying faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable security systems in ... Transformer may be used as a safe and efficient voltage changer to change the Alternating Current voltage at it s input to a higher and lower voltage at its output without changing it s frequency. Other uses include current conversion, isolation with or without changing impedance and voltage conversion. A transformer consists of two windings of wire that are wound around a common core and it provides tight electromagnetic coupling between the windings and makes a couple. The core material is may be of a laminated iron core. The coil that receives the electrical input energy is referred to as primary winding, the output coil is secondary winding. An alternating current flows through the primary winding coil of a transformer generates electromagnetic field which varies in its surroundings and induces a varying magnetic flux in the core of a transformer. The electromagnetic field varies in the vicinity of the secondary winding induces an electromotive force in a secondary winding and appears as a voltage across the output terminals. If a load is connected across the secondary winding, a current flows through the secondary winding and drawing power from the primary winding and its power source. There is little argument among national policymakers that the American economy was severely horsewhipped by the Great Recession of 2008, and that the country has only recently recovered sufficiently for economists to breathe a sigh of relief that the corner has been turned. Likewise, there is virtually no argument among national policymakers that a healthy maritime industry is also an essential component of the American economy. Finally, there is significant historic precedent. The U.S. government has bailed out other industries and sectors in the past that were viewed as being too large to fail because of the potential adverse impact on the American economy. For instance, in his editorial, Rebuilding America and Creating Jobs A Jones Act Initiative, Munoz (2011) writes, After bailing out the auto industry with $25 billion in loans and guarantees, the government turned around and provided another $25 billion for the industry to retool its plants to compete on world markets.
