Judith Walkowitz s Jack The Ripper
Jack the Ripper is the seventh chapter of City of Dreadful Delight book written by Judith Walkowitz
published in 1992. In this chapter, Walkowitz analyzes the historical forces that contribute to shape the
social aspects of late Victorian London period. The author emphasizes the myth of Jack the Ripper,
who was a serial murderer killing five prostitutes in London city in 1888 and examines the discourse
and social circumstance caused the Ripper figured male dominance and female passivity pattern in
feasible and intractable approach .
Walkowitz s investigation of this chapter primarily highlights the influential role of the press in the
form of subjectivities and behaviors. She argues about the media coverage of these murders presented

However, she successfully delivers a fastidious, inventive, and enticing historical text. The
investigation of the discourses among Jack the Ripper, she illustrates the historical significance of
narratives of sexuality. She demonstrates different discourses that surfaced the were the results of
extraordinary struggles over power. She illustrates these struggles over the implications in concrete
and significant detail, capture human gain and loss among the individuals who managed to challenge
superior power and remodify structures of meaning. Walkowitz tells a series of the events surrounding
historic murders Jack the Ripper for contemporary feminism. Justifiably, she concentrates on sexual
issues and politics . She later minimizes matters of class and describes London as a city amidst
complex change. However, she neglects the cross class experiences repeated all through the city,
regardless of whether between superior males and the common laborers objects of their look, or
amongst Stead and a girl he secured, or between social reformers and fallen

Machiavelli Company
Machiavelli Co. Written over 500 years ago, The Prince by Machiavelli, was crafted as guideline for
rulers of this era. Contained within the novel are rules and ideas formulated to ensure that the prince
had the longest lasting and best rule that he could. Although it was written so long ago it is fun to
think about what kind of kingdom, or in our case, a business would look like according to ideas laid
out in The Prince. When an employee walks in for his first day on the job at Machiavelli Co. they
would notice a few important things. One thing to take into account is that the company has been
around for a long time and it stomps out any other smaller competition trying to rise. This is because
the business has been around since the beginning of the industry and ownership has been passed down
through the family and not bought out or sold to a 3rd party. People who have been buying this

Honoring his word is also key in gaining the respect of his employees as well as the bosses of other
CEOs of companies that do business with Machiavelli Co. If respect is given to the CEO then this
means that the rules are much more likely to be followed and force will not be needed. In the company
scenario and the The Prince, force means termination from the job and no so much the physical
punishment found in the novel. The last thing that the CEO must do in order to be successful is to not
be distant from his workers. Any executive who comes down from his high perch and visits with the
lowest workers and show how much they know about the company are going to have the most
employees who respect their employer and in turn have more success. Nothing causes a prince to be
so much esteemed as great empires and giving proof of prowess. This quote from chapter 21 says that
proving prowess is one of the best ways to be esteemed by your

hurdles. IT managers are particularly advantaged since they can be able to gauge what would happen
if they added new applications. If you project a risk or loss, you can conveniently evade it. Improves
the quality of data. If your data is of high standards, one can easily use it even in external channels.
The user friendly interface in PIM has the responsibility of checking your media data and verifying

Charles Eisenstein Disruption
During the tenth week of my HUMI 1 class, I was deeply intrigued with the topic of disruption
because it was something that I always viewed as a negative but soon found out that it can also be
seen and used as a benefit. Charles Eisenstein discusses how disruption can be seen as a form of
raising awareness towards something. You get the idea that we as people, are sometimes too far in the
moment to realize what is happening around us as we are indulged in our own activities. When that
occurs, disruption comes into play allowing for us to be conscious of our surroundings and the
importance of something. Because disruption is something that I have experience with, I wanted to
experiment with it and see how it can be applied to my life or those ... Show more content on

She brought food with her whenever she studied, she knew when to take breaks, napped when she
needed to, and went to bed early, rather than forcing herself to stay up late at night and study. She was
clearly aware of all the problems that affected her mental health and made sure that she balanced
everything out. Just to be sure that she took a break from studying that day, I asked her once again if
she wanted get lunch. During our meal, she was the girl I have always known; full of life and

Honesty Responses
Jason, I enjoyed reading through your post and commend your honesty in your responses 1. I agree
that most clients have learned to protect themselves over the years to avoid pain. It is much easier to
avoid or place the blame for the problems in their lives on others. It is more difficult for people to
accept they have a part in their own pain and are to blame in some circumstances. 2. It does appear
that giving advice or telling a client how to respond keeps the client engaging on a surface level
instead of going deeper. I think it is human nature at times to protect oneself and not want to bring up
deeper things. If the client has been hurt by others, it will be difficult to bring up those feelings.
Likewise, the counselor may be nervous about opening up a client s deeper issues. As deeper ... Show

Your response in this discussion brings to light the importance of counselors and clients working
together instead of a hierarchical relationship. A hierarchical relationship does not empower the client
to work through their own problems. They just continue to turn to the counselor as an authority figure
who has all the answers. 4. The reply you provided about addressing the anxiety within a session and
how a therapist can use this interaction to bring out new themes is valuable. It does allow the
counselor to put patterns from the client s personal relationships. 1. Thank you for you honest
response and it is encouraging to see your progression to being in graduate school from summer
school in middle school. Similarly, I struggled in school and felt the weight of wanting to do better.
My biggest fear was being judged by the other students. 2. I do not understand the complete
background of your relationship with your mother from this assignment. However, what I am able to

The Foragers Ehrenberg Summary
Ehrenberg provides two important details supporting her argument that women were most likely the
first farmers, as well as the originators of many of the innovations of the agricultural revolution. The
first being the continual pattern throughout history of women s role in society, and the second being
the presence of current horticulture societies in the world today. From the very beginning women have
always played the role of the forager or in some way have been involved with plants and horticulture
while the men are either off hunting or providing care to large groups of herd animals. As Ehrenberg
points out, Women are mainly concerned with gathering plant food, which provides the bulk of the
diet of nearly all foragers, while men spend

Propaganda And Doublespeak By Donna Woolfolk Cross
The use of propaganda and doublespeak have a long history, going back to the ancient societies.
Propaganda and doublespeak are the use of verbal exchange to have an effect on the emotions,
attitudes, and opinions of human beings. To try to get them to accept a particular political, religious, or
financial point of view, or even to start a war. It is careful manipulation of the opinions of the societies
mostly by their government. In the effort to control the nation s thought process, the government has
used mass propaganda for selling a war.
In the essay, Propaganda: How Not to be Bamboozled, and The World of Doublespeak, both authors
discuss and explains the unusual types of propaganda and the misleading nature of doublespeak. First,
Donna Woolfolk Cross describes the constructions and the specific methods propaganda presented in
our day by day life, and how to avoid being tricked. Also Cross believes that it is important for people
in a democratic society to be well informed about propaganda due to how people get manipulated into
simply doing something except thinking. Additionally, Cross explains for us as readers the different
sorts of propaganda and how we view the topics in a positive way. She highlights in her essay that
propaganda is not continually negative; however, it also used in significant ways. Cross presents in her
essay that there are thirteen different types of propaganda; such as Card Stacking, Name calling, and

Romeo And Juliet Love At First Sight
Romeo and Juliet is a most famous love story in English literary. Love came naturally for them, and
that s shown all throughout the play. It focuses on romantic love, the passion of love at first sight.
Love is violent in Romeo and Juliet, but it surpasses any other values, beliefs, and emotions. They
were driven to not believe what their families said. Which ended with them dying together, and their
memories cherish forever.
Love at first sight was a huge thing for Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare devoted parted of this story to
different kind of true love. Should true love be based on how a person looks? Or should true love be a
deeper understanding of a person itself? He makes Romeo and Juliet star cross lovers (Prolouge.5).

Legal Journals On American Law
Privacy, meaning the right to be left alone, has intellectual roots tracing back to the 19th century. On
December 15, 1890, Samuel D. Warren and Louis D. Brandeis had their article The Right to Privacy
published in the Harvard Law Review. This article was highly regarded as one of the exceptional
examples of the effect legal journals have on American law, and was the first of many future law
review discussions. It is our purpose to consider whether the existing law affords a principle which
can properly be invoked to protect the privacy of the individual; and if it does what the nature and
extent of such protection is (Gregory, Kalven, and Epstein 1133). Warren and Brandeis stressed the
importance and necessity for some form of protection for the private individual when the press is
overstepping their boundaries and the indecency their gossip creates. Several decades later, in August
of 1960, William L. Prosser published his article Privacy in the California Law Review. In this article
he outlined the four classifications of privacy law which are as follows:
1. Intrusion upon the plaintiff s seclusion or solitude, or into his private affairs.
2. Public disclosure of embarrassing private facts about the plaintiff.
3. Publicity which places the plaintiff in a false light in the public eye.
4. Appropriation, for the defendant s advantage, of the plaintiff s name or likeness.
The second classification refers to publication of private matters, which will be the

they would say but they have no problem with repeating themselves to help me understand. The

The Fourteenth Amendment Of The Constitution
The Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments are a really big part of the Constitution for
slavery and about the equal rights in the United States. The government created the thirteenth,
fourteenth, and fifteenth amendment to allow racial equality in the United States by freeing all of the
slaves, giving them the right to get citizenship, and the right to vote. I will be talking about each
Amendment and how they were formed and also why. The Thirteenth Amendment of the Constitution
says, Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof
the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to
their jurisdiction. Section 2. Congress shall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the Thirteenth Amendment was passed in America than that means that all of the slaves are free
and get the same rights as any usual white man. Thirteenth amendment makes slavery and involuntary
servitude, in America it is illegal to have slaves. President Andrew Johnson helped get the thirteenth
amendment ratified by three fourths of the state in 1865. To pass a law the state legislatures have to
vote more than three fourths or else the law does not become a law. It also takes a long time for all of
the legislatures to vote on it because they have to talk about it and agree or disagree with each other
and that could become a very long time before the law gets approved or not. They ended slavery after
the Civil War and the Senate proposed the thirteenth amendment in 1864. Slavery was the main reason
that the Civil War started. Abraham Lincoln started it by trying to put the Thirteenth Amendment into
the Constitution. Kentucky is the only state that still uses the Union and declined to emancipate slaves.
Kentucky is one of the states that allowed people to have slaves and have people work for them
legally. The thirteenth amendment is the subject of controversy. The Supreme Court ruled the
Thirteenth amendment and says that it does not apply to discrimination in private relationships.
Mississippi did not ratify the thirteenth amendment. Mississippi was allowed to be

Growing up in Theresa was an experience that will live with me until the day I die. Theresa is a town
with a population of roughly 2,000 people and it is very rural. Theresa is a blue collar community
where everyone works hard and everyone plays hard. I saw this 24/7 at home. It was a small town.
Everyone knew what was going on with everything in the town. The town of Theresa was basically
one giant family. I went to school their from Kindergarten through 4th grade. The school was three
blocks from my house and I would walk to school and back every single day. I usually had people
who would walk with me. Some of those people I am still friends with to this very day. This was were

The Day I Lost My Innocence
The day I lost my innocence was the day my life was forever changed. For the past couple of days we
have been hearing about the civil wars in the different Liberian counties. I can hear the fear in my dad
s voice as he tells me of the horrible things the rebels are doing. They are killing all of the people that
do not support or believe in what they are doing. I am from one of the richest countries in the world,
blessed with many natural resources. This small West African country called Liberia, is one of the
world s largest exporters of rubber, diamonds, and gold. But this beautiful country will never hold the
esteemed place that it once held. War has torn this beautiful land a part. I hate wars, I hate everything
about them. If I had the power and the chance to do great things in this world, I would do everything
in my power to stop people from fighting war; so that people don t have to die. But interestingly, my
view on wars was not always this way. At one point in my life, the idea of war was exciting to me,
mostly because it was always glorified. From what I saw on television, war movies were depicted with
beautiful story lines that made me want to take part in that exhilarating experience. But this view was
suddenly changed when I was forced to take a man s life. My troubles all started just one month ago
when the rebels finally took over the capital city of Liberia, called Monrovia. I awoke to barrels of
gun fire, everything I knew and loved to do was takin from

Walmart s Reputation For Unfair Labor Practices
Walmart is the one of the biggest retailers in the United States and one of the foremost and influential
corporations in America. It has become one of America s most successful retail chains by offering
everyday goods at low prices for middle and lower class families. Even with all of its financial
success, the company cannot open a store without dealing with an abundance of protest groups.
Walmart always overcomes these groups, but nonetheless there is always opposition against them.
Walmart has had a reputation for unfair labor practices by refusing unionization, offering really low
wages, and discrimination. The protest groups defend local store owners, the environment, employee
salaries, and discrimination against various minority groups. Walmart displays an image of being
charitable and giving back to the community, but they are responsible for unjust and discriminating
actions in the United States. To maintain its low cost strategy, Walmart has been involved in ethically
questionable practices, including gender discrimination in promotion and pay. While the Supreme
Court recently ruled against class certification of 1.5 million women in the Dukes v. Walmart case due
to a lack of proof that Walmart operated under a general policy of discrimination , there is much
evidence that shows that gender discrimination is still a problem rooted in the culture of Walmart,
despite gender neutral policies (Biskupic, 2011). During the 1950 s and 60 s in northwest Arkansas, a

The Use of Salicylic Acid in Medicine
The medical field uses acids and bases all of the time because, our body uses acids and bases every
day to try to get the PH levels as neutral as possible in our bodies. The neutral PH level in our bodies
is 7.3.When your organs stop neutralizing acids and bases you need medical help. If the pH level goes
over an acidity or basic level it can be really dangerous. That applies to almost every reaction in your
metabolism. Due to the fact that our body needs, and produces acids and bases, I m going to touch on
three. The first Acid is Salicylic Acid, most people have probably heard if not used this common acid,
for acne, warts, dandruff, and much more. The base that I will be talking about, Hydrogen Peroxide is
used all the time typically for handling infected scrapes, burns and minor cuts. Last but not least is,
Alginate Acid, which is normally used or associated for packing a wound, but is actually quite
common, just unnoticed, like in your processed foods, and fire retardants. Without the use of acids and
bases in medicine, our pH levels in our bodies wouldn t be able to stay at a neutral 7.3 level.
Salicylic Acid is a common type of Acid used in the Medical world. This acid is used on the skin to
treat common skin blemishes, acne, dandruff, corn, calluses, and hand and foot warts. Salicylic acid,
will progressively peel off the wart, or reduce swelling, redness, and blocked pores for acne. Salicylic
acid is a keratolytic agent. It works and acts like an aspirin. It works

The body naturally produces these compounds, which are similar to the chemicals in cannabis.
Reduction of endocannabinoid production is one reason why chronic stress is a major risk factor in the
development of depression. The research team at the university administered marijuana cannabinoids
to the rats, finding it to be an effective way to restore endocannabinoid levels in their brains,
alleviating some symptoms of depression. In addition, the university that found synthetic cannabinoids
activated the part of the brain associated with traumatic memories in rats, preventing the behavioral
and physiological symptoms of PTSD. The article notes that depression is such a complex mental
disorder as well as alleviating it with cannabis. Because of the lack of testing on the relationship
between cannabis and depression, there is no 100% statement claiming that marijuana can help
depression in human trials, although there are promising lab tests on rats. The article clearly conveyed
the testing, but was written according to an audience able to read at a fifth grade level, this is clearly
visible because of the vocabulary as well as the sentence structure within the article. This is due to the
fact that many Americans do not have the potential to read academic papers or research papers

The Freedom Of School Choice Essay
In a nation founded upon freedom, the liberty to choose the institution from which you get your
education should be a greater concern in Pennsylvania. Our nation has prided itself upon its legacy of
liberty, as well as the many opportunities it has been able to provide for its citizens. And yet our
government has been continuously denying us one very important freedom that all in America should
have, the freedom of school choice. You would think that more people would be concerned with this
infringement upon human rights. While our government is striving to give more freedom to
homosexuals who desire marriage and to women who do not want to deal with the human being that
they helped to create, it is ignoring or suppressing the cries for liberty from those who desire the
religious freedom to educate their children in the way they believe they should be educated. Because
of the support that the government gives public schools using tax dollars and government subsidies,
parents find it too difficult financially to place their children in religious private schools, secular
private schools, or even charter schools.
Also, the government has arranged public schools in such a way as to make it difficult for parents to
put their children in a school that meets their standards of education. Many public schools are
dropping their academic standards as well as losing their ethical standards altogether. Thus many
parents do not want to put their children in a school where they do not

the mind, because the brain will decay with the body; not the personality, nor the emotions, for these
also will vanish with death (Quotes). This is a similar question almost everyone at some point in their
lives ask. Personally, my identity was a big issue during my teenage years and I had a lot questions
such as Who am I? Who do I belong to? I did not have the answers at that time. Nevertheless, as life
progressed, I was able to come across certain life events, experiences and people who helped me to
discover who I truly am I am a conqueror and a legitimately strong woman. My parents, siblings and
generally the people around me have continually played a key role in helping me to discover myself. I
know who my parents are, my date of birth, I am an English speaker, I know most people around me,
particularly my family, I know they love me and I love them too. I have known my names, my
weaknesses and strengths, my emotions and learnt about myself majorly through my family. Everyone
around me has had a huge impact on my life and through interaction with them, I have been able to
know what works best for me and what does not. Through my family, I have been able to identify my
origin, culture and identity by taking interest in their ways of life. For example, I am a Catholic and I
know some of my weaknesses relate to my family members. Just like Amy Tan, who says, Lately,

What Is My Special Place Essay
Lose stones crunch underneath my feet as I walk along the sand towards my favourite beach, metres
away was my little hideout place which I named my special place and there standing was me a 7 year

beach with her best friend Jake her first ever dog. All I remember now is going to my special place all
the time when I was little and it had a rope swing inside and I use too sit on it and swing back and
forth. I haven t been there for ages, but it hasn t changed much, still the same old sand dunes near the
beach with big trees and bushes that have grown a little. But other than that, it s still my favourite
beach I remember and have grown up with for the past 17 years.
I made an adventure out of my special place as I was the only one that knew where it was and my dad
and I were the ones that put the rope in and made it into a swing for me. My mum use to make me
sandwiches and I use to spend half the day there either with my dad and mum or a friend.
For as long as I can remember, the rope swing has gradually started to disintegrate and not able to use
it anymore and the grass land has grown that tall you can t see the bottom of the rope. I use too come

The Colored Man s Paradise By Mary Churchill
Mary Churchill Terrell, a college educated African American, daughter of former slaves, and activist.
Terrell, also known for great accomplishments such as being the first African American woman of
Washington DC s board of education, the first president of the national association of colored women,
and her most memorable work, the delivery of her speech at the Washington s women club, What it
means to be colored in the capital of the US. This speech is so iconic and memorable because Terrell
speaks on the oppression that blacks dealt with during the time the Jim Crow law s from a personal
perspective, and also because she is a woman who at the time was considered the bottom of the social
ladder. Her mission for this speech is admirable, she presents the realities a colored experience in
Washington DC otherwise known as the colored man s paradise she accomplished this with a strong
use of diction, and a mixture of multiple rhetorical tools to address the problems of unrecognized
racism.
As an educated woman, Terrell s word choice consisted of intellectual and bold words. This in fact
was necessary due to her audience of white women and also the motive of the speech, which was to
promote the African American people as equal and capable of being treated similar to the other races.
At some points Terrell took opportunities to, in a way, flaunt her education as a black woman she
would say things such as, It is certain that it would be difficult to find a worse misnomer

The Benefits of Year Round Education and Extended School Days
Year round education (YRE) is implemented in 436 U.S. school districts with very few complaints. In
fact, school districts that have been participating in YRE and extended school days (ESD) are raving
about the benefits in pupil s achievement level, their new found enthusiasm in learning, as well as the
many programs that exist in the extended day promoting the decline in latch key children. Some
schools decided to initiate YRE and ESD because of swelling enrollments and lack of student
achievement. There were many issues raised when deciding if YRE and ESD were a step in the right
direction. For one, we are all creatures of habit, and to implement a new school schedule would mean
extensive changes. Second, how would this effect the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This schedule not only benefits children but also teachers. In the intersession teachers can decide if
they want to teach (in which they would earn extra income), take a vacation to relieve stress, or use
the time to develop course materials. It has been said that YRE and SES contribute to less teacher burn
out and better teacher satisfaction as a result of student enthusiasm toward learning, opportunity to
earn extra income, and the various different ways to take advantage of the intersessions. Some districts
decided upon YRE for academic reform hoping that the implementation of YRE would contribute to
higher test scores. As a whole, YRE s reading, math, and science test scores are higher than the
traditional calendar school (TCS) students yet not by much. This also applies to at risk students in
YRE who score higher on reading, math, and science, however the scores are not statistically
significant. Furthermore, YRE is a fairly new concept and research on test scores should encompass a
time span of at least four years. Recent statistics have only encompassed a year to two year research.
Some schools were concerned with the cost of YRE and ESD. However, Murfreesboro, Tennessee,
City Schools can be considered as a role model for schools contemplating cost efficiency of YRE and
ESD. Murfreesboro, Tennessee, City Schools have employed the simple business approach of

anniversary of the Web (CERN, 2009).With internet users accounting for 28.5% of the world
population in June 2010 (Internet World Stats, 2011), the web s growth and use have become an
integral part of modern day living whether for business or entertainment. Its impact and usage in today

differences between the internet and the web are not clear and in many cases in day to day
conversations these terms are used interchangeably to mean the same thing. Therefore to help

Although his idea provoked little response, Berners continued in the development of his idea using an
at the time new and very specialised personal computer called the NeXT. Development of his ideas
was based on the existing technologies of TCP/IP as his chosen network protocol and hypertext. Later
joined by CERN engineer Robert Cailliau (Appendix a), Berners began to revise his ideas and started
writing the code for his project. From early on, he decided that all programs involved with his project
should have acronyms starting with HT for hypertext. This resulted in what we now know as the
Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) used to link hypertext document over the internet, and Hypertext
Markup Language (HTML) a language for formatting and structuring the hypertext documents. The
development of HTML would become apparent in its use when he wrote the programme for the
worlds first web browser which he called the WorldWideWeb browser. Although this only ran on the
NeXT computer system, its Graphical User Interface (GUI) was the first step towards making the web
an interactive medium (CERN, 2008) that would make surfing the internet more accessible to people.
Along with HTTP and HTML, Berners also developed a way of giving documents addresses for
location using a Universal Resource Identifier (URI) which we now more commonly know as a URL

Essay Political Unrest in Yemen, Terrorism, and America
The U.S. has a tough stance when it comes to terrorism, especially in regions where terrorist groups
look to take advantage of a people or a situation. In this paper I hope to answer questions pertaining to
how the political unrest in Yemen began, how Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula were formed and
what effects they have in the region as well as the implications to American policies and interests in
the Horn of Africa area. Yemen is a poor and unstable state where the political and social problems are
an issue that some groups will look to exploit while others have a vested interest in stability. An
analysis of the past and present political, economic and social issues in Yemen reveals two major
issues: The ability for terrorist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A civil war would ensue with the revolutionaries having the support of the Egyptians and the USSR
and the royalist receiving support from Saudi Arabia and Jordan until the eventual defeat of the
royalists in 1969. This would give way to a Republican government and the rise of current President
of Yemen, Ali Abdullah Saleh in 1990.
Britain controlled and occupied the south during the civil war in the north. In the 1960s the National
Liberation Front (NLF) would fight the British and with Soviet influence, the southern portion of
Yemen would become the first and only Marxist state in the Arab world winning independence in
1967. In 1990, the poor conditions and economic decay of the south would lead to a merger which
would form what we know today as The Republic of Yemen. The former leaders in the south would
find their way north in order to play a role in the newly formed government, but the current President
Saleh, who would retain his position in the newly formed state, would consistently overlook them.
The lack of representation and the steady decline of living conditions in southern Yemen would reach
a boiling point, and, in 1994 another civil war would be fought on Yemen soil, only this time the battle
was amongst the Yemeni people. Infuriated about differences over power sharing and the relative pace
of integration, southern Yemen would call for

Clark University Application Essay
My interest with Clark University began prior to my college experience, by hearing Dr. Goldberg and
other Clark Professors on NPR and in the media, discussing the topics that I now consider my primary
research interests. As an undergraduate student I continued to listen to these interviews and look into
the research they cited, which eventually lead me to the psychology programs and active labs of Clark
University. I was extremely interested in the opportunities I saw for research and teaching
assistantship. As someone with experience as a teacher s assistant, I know how well it can help both
socially and financially. Such a partnership helps students engage student body, build rapport with
professors, and gain active experience and competence in their field. By having these assistantships
available, Clark University is showing a dedication to student support and success both in and beyond
the university. I was also attracted to the collaboration between department and local hospitals,
schools, head start programs, and has had joint programs with the Clark University Medical school.

INTRODUCTION
I. How many of you have had a day where literally everything goes wrong? So much for the saying
could this day get any worse? right? Because right when you don t think that anything worse could
happen somehow it does. For example, you re getting ready for that big presentation on the mooring
of and spill your coffee all over your outfit? Then how about driving to school and getting pulled over
or getting a flat tire? Just to then realize when you get to school that all your information for your
presentation is sitting at home on the kitchen table. It is now 10:30 am and you re stressed out of your
mind.

I. According to the website article, Acute vs. Chronic Stress, there are two different kinds of stress that
we will potentially face in our lifetime
A. Short term (Chronic) 1.Short term stress is the most common type that we face and are the little
everyday things. This is experienced when specific events or situations that involve novelty,
unpredictability, a threat to the ego, and leave us with a poor sense of control. (Acute vs. Chronic

from traumatic, early childhood experiences that become internalized and remain forever painful and

our stress response system was not designed to be constantly activated... (Acute vs. Chronic Stress,1)
So how can this affect us as college students?

African Americans And Reconstruction Essay
Throughout the duration of the Civil War in 1861 to the 1920s, African Americans made significant
strides toward their advancement in America and toward equity with whites. After having being
subjected to white governance and enslaved for so long, their dependence generated a sense of
unfamiliarity with their newly acquired emancipation. This uncertainty sparked many debates
regarding the most effectual way to go about receiving their inalienable rights as human beings, not
merely substandard Negros as they were perceived to be. However, some thought that the most
effective approach would be to acquiesce to the subservient status upheld by whites in order to earn
their respect until equity permeated. Others were more combative in their ... Show more content on

Moreover, the subsequent time period following the war was deemed the period of Reconstruction, a
time of mending a restoration after the detriment of war. However, it was during that time that
southern whites attempted to regress back to enslavement by perpetuating their preeminence over
blacks and instituting restraints on the rights of the freshly freedmen. Such measures as the Black
Codes and the KKK were implemented within the South to regulate the actions of African Americans
as though they were in slavery but without the security of safety that comes with being considered
property. Though chattel slavery had been abolished, the abruptness of its termination left several
pertinent issues unresolved in relation to the status of African Americans. The terms of the war only
required the southern states to remove the succession clause from their state constitutions. However, in
spite of its connotation of brutality, the period of Reconstruction was also beneficial in some repute as
it established public education for both blacks and whites. Although their predicament didn t improve
much, gradually there was a transformation in the manner in which African Americans regarded
themselves. This self realization is what

Teaching Assistant Duties
The primary duty of a teaching assistant is to support the teacher in charge of the classroom, the lead
teacher.
1. Instructing Students
Typically, teachers present the lectures that introduce new material. Teaching assistants then reinforce
the lesson by tutoring individual students or holding discussion groups consisting of a small number of
students. The aide might circulate throughout the room to answer questions or explain concepts. In
some schools, the assistant might write problems or key terms on the blackboard while the teacher is
presenting the material.
2. Supervising Students
Teaching assistants help the teacher maintain order in the classroom. They ensure that the students are
obeying the rules and discipline unruly pupils when necessary. Teaching assistants might accompany
younger students to the cafeteria and supervise them during lunch. At some locations, teachers aides

Teaching assistants might also complete requisitions for books, desks or supplies. The teacher
typically signs letters or memos to parents, but the aide often types them. If there is a classroom
newsletter, the teaching assistant might play an important role in writing, editing, printing and
distributing it to parents.
4. Miscellaneous Duties
Teaching assistants might accompany students on field trips or at extracurricular events. They might
be responsible for decorating the classroom or updating the bulletin board. Aides are often responsible
for operating equipment used in the classroom, such as projectors or tape players. Some teaching
assistants have assigned work locations outside of the classroom, such as the library or computer lab.
These teaching assistants are responsible for helping students learn in that specific environment, such
as teaching them how to locate books or use a software program.

Application Case:
A Cultural Mismatch
1) Based on the experiences of Chrysler and Diamler Benz AG, what is the importance of culture in
the change process?
Culture effects performance! Each structural culture operates differently; in order for them to properly
function they must combine their processes. These processes would include management styles, pay
structures, capacity to communicate, compromise, understanding and accepting different cultures,
conforming to meet planned goals, the ability to maintain and meet a new combined culture and
working structures. An organizational culture s effectiveness is determined by: coherence, persuasive

reached for the impossible and kept coming up with new ideas to achieve these impossible goals.
3) What specific mistakes did Chrysler and Daimler Benz AG make in the change process? Cite
examples to support your answer.
A cultural clash was the major hurdle to the realization of the synergies identified before the merger
even took place. The Germans and the Americans had been out of sync from the start. The two proud
management teams resisted working together, were wary of change and weren t willing to
compromise causing the company to agree on a plan for development. Daimler Chrysler combined
nothing beyond some administrative departments, such as finance and public relations. Not selecting a
change agent was the biggest mistake during the change process. The Company s American President
James P. Holden was replaced with a German Executive; Dieter Zetsche, who imposed
DaimlerChrysler Benz cultures making any possible implementations for planning impossible due to
lack of communication and ability to conform a new culture that worked in both organizations.

The Merriam Webster dictionary defines a free market as one where the government does not meddle,
but leaves private companies to compete for said business. In a completely free market, private
enterprise competes for a certain piece of a market and there are no government controls over it.
However, there are some markets which are illegal, where prosecution of the crime does not allow the
free market to function. In some cases, social problems arise because the market is not being allowed
to behave the way it was meant to. In this paper we will delve into such an illegal activity and the
social problems that have arised because of it. Also, we will go ahead and ponder how effective it

Decriminalize everything around it and treat it as a regular business, subject to all regulations
businesses have. Sabin (2015), explains how it has been done in Spain where the courts have ruled
that sex workers are entitled to the same rights as other workers. From unemployment, to healthcare to
a pension the Barcelona court ruled that sex workers are entitled to what all other workers have a right
to.
In my opinion, this approach as well as legitimizing such businesses and taking them out of the
underground, leaves them open to taxation and to comply with other regulations that other companies
must comply with. In this scenario, supply and demand work in the same manner as any other
business. Because the workers have rights, these people can feel they are part of society and there
would be a decline on the social problems it creates such as homelessness and drug addiction. Also,
society benefits as a whole in the decline of violence, trafficking and the steady tax capture from a
business never before taxed. Thus supply and demand would work the sex trade than any other service

Were the Difficulties Faced by Charles Ii Due More to...
Were the difficulties faced by Charles II due more to financial concerns than foreign policy in the
years 1667 1678?
Charles II faced a vast amount of difficulties during his reign, but particularly during the period of
1667 1678. He suffered financial difficulties, foreign policy issues and religious problems. Finance
became an obvious problem due to his lack of funds, however his foreign policy was constantly
needing money, and a combination of both left Charles with many difficulties.
A substantial difficulty that Charles II faced was that of finance. Finance was a major issue between
crown and parliament, especially in between the years 1665 to 1667. The Crown s income had
dropped by £200,000, and MPs believed that the problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Almost echoing the problems faced with finance was Charles Foreign policy. Charles planned an
attack on the Dutch in 1672 with help from the French. This required finance and with the payment of
loans, Crown only had an income of £400,000. So, Charles declared the crown bankrupt, making it
harder to secure future loans but making parliament give him £1.2 million to fund the attack on the
Dutch. This shows the foreign policy being the reason for the difficulties faced by Charles, as a lot of
the financial concerns were due to the need to fund wars.
From 1670 Charles had a new alliance with France and he wanted a third war against the Dutch to
avenge the humiliation from the second one. Between the years 1673 1674 saw the Dutch war go
badly and it proved costly. This again showed Charles as facing difficulties from the foreign policy as
he was too proud to let the war lie, and therefore again need more funding, relying on finance. Charles
was forced to sign the treaty of Westminster in 1674, which was to end the conflict and England kept
New York, whilst the Dutch kept Surinam. In 1675 Parliament only voted £300,000 for the Navy, but
due to continuing French success against the Dutch, parliament then voted £600,000. This again
shows how the foreign policy was affecting the financial situation, which then continues to drive
Charles and Parliament away.
The secret treaty also

Who Is Anne Hutchinson s Argument In The Wordy Shipmates
During the period of colonization, John Winthrop lead the Puritans, a new religious group, across the
Atlantic to settle in Massachusetts Bay Colony. By the 1630s the colony had established a theocracy
that supported its conservative culture. Sarah Vowell discusses the functionality of the Puritan
community in her editorial, The Wordy Shipmates. She uses several excerpts from the play The
Examination of Mrs.Anne Hutchinson at the court of Newton, November 1637 written by Anne
Hutchinson, to form her opinion. Anne Hutchinson was a leader in her community who occasionally
gave sermons that challenged the authority of the church. She was called to court by John Winthrop
and his council who aimed to charge her for sedition and heresy. Vowell argues that Winthrop s claims
were ungrounded and did not have any reasonable explanations, whereas Anne Hutchinson rebutted
with facts. Sarah Vowell s analysis of the Puritans in The Wordy Shipmates is legitimate, her reactions
to the case are logical, and like Anne Hutchinson she is easily able to justify her position with direct
quotes to answer assumptions of her audience. Sarah Vowell begins her criticism writing about the
background of the case, why it was opened and the prejudices against Anne Hutchinson. There was
not any pressing reason for the case to open, John Winthrop just wanted to make an example out of
Hutchinson, he never intended on treating her case fairly. This why he has trouble answering

Human Destruction Of The Biosphere Essay
The biologist E.O. Wilson estimated in 2002 that if current rates of human destruction of the biosphere
continue, one half of all plant and animal species of life on earth will be extinct in 100 years. In a
survey in1998 conducted by the New York s American Museum of Natural nearly of 70% of the 400
biologists interested believed that the Earth is currently in the early stages of a human caused mass
extinction, known as the Holocene extinction. In that survey, the same proportion of respondents
agreed with the prediction that up to 20% of all living populations could become extinct within 30
years (by 2028). Probably these predictions are too catastrophic and is quite impossible to claim the
mass extinction in a short term, but these are clear advises of how much deep and negative is the
interference of the Humans in the environment and in the life of the other cohabitants of this planet. I
believe this evidences required changing in the life style of the world population, especially from the
most industrialized countries as Europe, North Americas and part of Asia even if they represent a
small part of the world population are the cause of the biggest part of the global pollution. One of the
biggest issues caused by the human activity is the global warming and the consequent changes in the
climate situation, that are causing natural catastrophes as the melting of glacier, desertification and
extinction of some of animal species. Even if the United Nations are trying to

Contained within the novel are rules and ideas formulated to ensure that the prince had the longest lasting and best rule that he could. Although it was written so long ago it is fun to think about what kind of kingdom, or in our case, a business would look like according to ideas laid out in The Prince. When an employee walks in for his first day on the job at Machiavelli Co. they would notice a few important things. One thing to take into account is that the company has been around for a long time and it stomps out any other smaller competition trying to rise. In the company scenario and the The Prince, force means termination from the job and no so much the physical punishment found in the novel. The last thing that the CEO must do in order to be successful is to not be distant from his workers. Any executive who comes down from his high perch and visits with the lowest workers and show how much they know about the company are going to have the most employees who respect their employer and in turn have more success. • 6. Charles Eisenstein Disruption During the tenth week of my HUMI 1 class, I was deeply intrigued with the topic of disruption because it was something that I always viewed as a negative but soon found out that it can also be seen and used as a benefit. Charles Eisenstein discusses how disruption can be seen as a form of raising awareness towards something. You get the idea that we as people, are sometimes too far in the moment to realize what is happening around us as we are indulged in our own activities. When that occurs, disruption comes into play allowing for us to be conscious of our surroundings and the importance of something. Because disruption is something that I have experience with, I wanted to experiment with it and see how it can be applied to my life or those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She brought food with her whenever she studied, she knew when to take breaks, napped when she needed to, and went to bed early, rather than forcing herself to stay up late at night and study. She was clearly aware of all the problems that affected her mental health and made sure that she balanced everything out. Just to be sure that she took a break from studying that day, I asked her once again if she wanted get lunch. During our meal, she was the girl I have always known; full of life and ebullient. It was unanticipated, but Jenny thanked me. She noticed my actions in the past week and realized that my disruptions helped her be aware of what she was doing and how it was affecting her body. • 7. Honesty Responses Jason, I enjoyed reading through your post and commend your honesty in your responses 1. I agree that most clients have learned to protect themselves over the years to avoid pain. It is much easier to avoid or place the blame for the problems in their lives on others. It is more difficult for people to accept they have a part in their own pain and are to blame in some circumstances. 2. It does appear that giving advice or telling a client how to respond keeps the client engaging on a surface level instead of going deeper. I think it is human nature at times to protect oneself and not want to bring up deeper things. If the client has been hurt by others, it will be difficult to bring up those feelings. Likewise, the counselor may be nervous about opening up a client s deeper issues. As deeper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Your response in this discussion brings to light the importance of counselors and clients working together instead of a hierarchical relationship. A hierarchical relationship does not empower the client to work through their own problems. They just continue to turn to the counselor as an authority figure who has all the answers. 4. The reply you provided about addressing the anxiety within a session and how a therapist can use this interaction to bring out new themes is valuable. It does allow the counselor to put patterns from the client s personal relationships. 1. Thank you for you honest response and it is encouraging to see your progression to being in graduate school from summer school in middle school. Similarly, I struggled in school and felt the weight of wanting to do better. My biggest fear was being judged by the other students. 2. From the very beginning women have always played the role of the forager or in some way have been involved with plants and horticulture while the men are either off hunting or providing care to large groups of herd animals. • 9. Propaganda And Doublespeak By Donna Woolfolk Cross The use of propaganda and doublespeak have a long history, going back to the ancient societies. Propaganda and doublespeak are the use of verbal exchange to have an effect on the emotions, attitudes, and opinions of human beings. To try to get them to accept a particular political, religious, or financial point of view, or even to start a war. It is careful manipulation of the opinions of the societies mostly by their government. In the effort to control the nation s thought process, the government has used mass propaganda for selling a war. In the essay, Propaganda: How Not to be Bamboozled, and The World of Doublespeak, both authors discuss and explains the unusual types of propaganda and the misleading nature of doublespeak. First, Donna Woolfolk Cross describes the constructions and the specific methods propaganda presented in our day by day life, and how to avoid being tricked. Also Cross believes that it is important for people in a democratic society to be well informed about propaganda due to how people get manipulated into simply doing something except thinking. Additionally, Cross explains for us as readers the different sorts of propaganda and how we view the topics in a positive way. She highlights in her essay that propaganda is not continually negative; however, it also used in significant ways. Cross presents in her essay that there are thirteen different types of propaganda; such as Card Stacking, Name calling, and Glittering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Legal Journals On American Law Privacy, meaning the right to be left alone, has intellectual roots tracing back to the 19th century. On December 15, 1890, Samuel D. Warren and Louis D. Brandeis had their article The Right to Privacy published in the Harvard Law Review. This article was highly regarded as one of the exceptional examples of the effect legal journals have on American law, and was the first of many future law review discussions. It is our purpose to consider whether the existing law affords a principle which can properly be invoked to protect the privacy of the individual; and if it does what the nature and extent of such protection is (Gregory, Kalven, and Epstein 1133). Warren and Brandeis stressed the importance and necessity for some form of protection for the private individual when the press is overstepping their boundaries and the indecency their gossip creates. Several decades later, in August of 1960, William L. Prosser published his article Privacy in the California Law Review. In this article he outlined the four classifications of privacy law which are as follows: 1. The second classification refers to publication of private matters, which will be the ... The government created the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth amendment to allow racial equality in the United States by freeing all of the slaves, giving them the right to get citizenship, and the right to vote. I will be talking about each Amendment and how they were formed and also why. The Thirteenth Amendment of the Constitution says, Section 1. Since the Thirteenth Amendment was passed in America than that means that all of the slaves are free and get the same rights as any usual white man. Thirteenth amendment makes slavery and involuntary servitude, in America it is illegal to have slaves. President Andrew Johnson helped get the thirteenth amendment ratified by three fourths of the state in 1865. To pass a law the state legislatures have to vote more than three fourths or else the law does not become a law. It also takes a long time for all of the legislatures to vote on it because they have to talk about it and agree or disagree with each other and that could become a very long time before the law gets approved or not. They ended slavery after the Civil War and the Senate proposed the thirteenth amendment in 1864. Slavery was the main reason that the Civil War started. Abraham Lincoln started it by trying to put the Thirteenth Amendment into the Constitution. Kentucky is the only state that still uses the Union and declined to emancipate slaves. Kentucky is one of the states that allowed people to have slaves and have people work for them legally. The thirteenth amendment is the subject of controversy. • 16. Walmart s Reputation For Unfair Labor Practices Walmart is the one of the biggest retailers in the United States and one of the foremost and influential corporations in America. It has become one of America s most successful retail chains by offering everyday goods at low prices for middle and lower class families. Even with all of its financial success, the company cannot open a store without dealing with an abundance of protest groups. Walmart always overcomes these groups, but nonetheless there is always opposition against them. Walmart has had a reputation for unfair labor practices by refusing unionization, offering really low wages, and discrimination. The protest groups defend local store owners, the environment, employee salaries, and discrimination against various minority groups. Walmart displays an image of being charitable and giving back to the community, but they are responsible for unjust and discriminating actions in the United States. To maintain its low cost strategy, Walmart has been involved in ethically questionable practices, including gender discrimination in promotion and pay. While the Supreme Court recently ruled against class certification of 1.5 million women in the Dukes v. Walmart case due to a lack of proof that Walmart operated under a general policy of discrimination , there is much evidence that shows that gender discrimination is still a problem rooted in the culture of Walmart, despite gender neutral policies (Biskupic, 2011). The Use of Salicylic Acid in Medicine The medical field uses acids and bases all of the time because, our body uses acids and bases every day to try to get the PH levels as neutral as possible in our bodies. The neutral PH level in our bodies is 7.3.When your organs stop neutralizing acids and bases you need medical help. If the pH level goes over an acidity or basic level it can be really dangerous. That applies to almost every reaction in your metabolism. Due to the fact that our body needs, and produces acids and bases, I m going to touch on three. The first Acid is Salicylic Acid, most people have probably heard if not used this common acid, for acne, warts, dandruff, and much more. The base that I will be talking about, Hydrogen Peroxide is used all the time typically for handling infected scrapes, burns and minor cuts. Last but not least is, Alginate Acid, which is normally used or associated for packing a wound, but is actually quite common, just unnoticed, like in your processed foods, and fire retardants. Without the use of acids and bases in medicine, our pH levels in our bodies wouldn t be able to stay at a neutral 7.3 level. Salicylic Acid is a common type of Acid used in the Medical world. This acid is used on the skin to treat common skin blemishes, acne, dandruff, corn, calluses, and hand and foot warts. In addition, the university that found synthetic cannabinoids activated the part of the brain associated with traumatic memories in rats, preventing the behavioral and physiological symptoms of PTSD. Our nation has prided itself upon its legacy of liberty, as well as the many opportunities it has been able to provide for its citizens. And yet our government has been continuously denying us one very important freedom that all in America should have, the freedom of school choice. You would think that more people would be concerned with this infringement upon human rights. While our government is striving to give more freedom to homosexuals who desire marriage and to women who do not want to deal with the human being that they helped to create, it is ignoring or suppressing the cries for liberty from those who desire the religious freedom to educate their children in the way they believe they should be educated. Because of the support that the government gives public schools using tax dollars and government subsidies, parents find it too difficult financially to place their children in religious private schools, secular private schools, or even charter schools. Also, the government has arranged public schools in such a way as to make it difficult for parents to put their children in a school that meets their standards of education. The terms of the war only required the southern states to remove the succession clause from their state constitutions. However, in spite of its connotation of brutality, the period of Reconstruction was also beneficial in some repute as it established public education for both blacks and whites. Although their predicament didn t improve much, gradually there was a transformation in the manner in which African Americans regarded themselves. This self realization is what ... The Germans and the Americans had been out of sync from the start. The two proud management teams resisted working together, were wary of change and weren t willing to compromise causing the company to agree on a plan for development. Daimler Chrysler combined nothing beyond some administrative departments, such as finance and public relations. Not selecting a change agent was the biggest mistake during the change process. The Company s American President James P. Holden was replaced with a German Executive; Dieter Zetsche, who imposed DaimlerChrysler Benz cultures making any possible implementations for planning impossible due to lack of communication and ability to conform a new culture that worked in both organizations. 4) Using as your guide the nine ... The Pros And Cons Of The Nordic Model The Merriam Webster dictionary defines a free market as one where the government does not meddle, but leaves private companies to compete for said business. In a completely free market, private enterprise competes for a certain piece of a market and there are no government controls over it. However, there are some markets which are illegal, where prosecution of the crime does not allow the free market to function. In some cases, social problems arise because the market is not being allowed to behave the way it was meant to. In this paper we will delve into such an illegal activity and the social problems that have arised because of it. Decriminalize everything around it and treat it as a regular business, subject to all regulations businesses have. Sabin (2015), explains how it has been done in Spain where the courts have ruled that sex workers are entitled to the same rights as other workers. From unemployment, to healthcare to a pension the Barcelona court ruled that sex workers are entitled to what all other workers have a right to. In my opinion, this approach as well as legitimizing such businesses and taking them out of the underground, leaves them open to taxation and to comply with other regulations that other companies must comply with. In this scenario, supply and demand work in the same manner as any other business. Because the workers have rights, these people can feel they are part of society and there would be a decline on the social problems it creates such as homelessness and drug addiction. Also, society benefits as a whole in the decline of violence, trafficking and the steady tax capture from a business never before taxed. • 36. Were the Difficulties Faced by Charles Ii Due More to... Were the difficulties faced by Charles II due more to financial concerns than foreign policy in the years 1667 1678? Charles II faced a vast amount of difficulties during his reign, but particularly during the period of 1667 1678. He suffered financial difficulties, foreign policy issues and religious problems. Finance became an obvious problem due to his lack of funds, however his foreign policy was constantly needing money, and a combination of both left Charles with many difficulties. A substantial difficulty that Charles II faced was that of finance. Finance was a major issue between crown and parliament, especially in between the years 1665 to 1667. The Crown s income had dropped by £200,000, and MPs believed that the problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Almost echoing the problems faced with finance was Charles Foreign policy. Charles planned an attack on the Dutch in 1672 with help from the French. This required finance and with the payment of loans, Crown only had an income of £400,000. So, Charles declared the crown bankrupt, making it harder to secure future loans but making parliament give him £1.2 million to fund the attack on the Dutch. This shows the foreign policy being the reason for the difficulties faced by Charles, as a lot of the financial concerns were due to the need to fund wars. From 1670 Charles had a new alliance with France and he wanted a third war against the Dutch to avenge the humiliation from the second one. Between the years 1673 1674 saw the Dutch war go badly and it proved costly. This again showed Charles as facing difficulties from the foreign policy as he was too proud to let the war lie, and therefore again need more funding, relying on finance. Charles was forced to sign the treaty of Westminster in 1674, which was to end the conflict and England kept New York, whilst the Dutch kept Surinam. In 1675 Parliament only voted £300,000 for the Navy, but due to continuing French success against the Dutch, parliament then voted £600,000. This again shows how the foreign policy was affecting the financial situation, which then continues to drive Charles and Parliament away. The secret treaty also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Who Is Anne Hutchinson s Argument In The Wordy Shipmates During the period of colonization, John Winthrop lead the Puritans, a new religious group, across the Atlantic to settle in Massachusetts Bay Colony. By the 1630s the colony had established a theocracy that supported its conservative culture. Sarah Vowell discusses the functionality of the Puritan community in her editorial, The Wordy Shipmates. She uses several excerpts from the play The Examination of Mrs.Anne Hutchinson at the court of Newton, November 1637 written by Anne Hutchinson, to form her opinion. Anne Hutchinson was a leader in her community who occasionally gave sermons that challenged the authority of the church. She was called to court by John Winthrop and his council who aimed to charge her for sedition and heresy. Vowell argues that Winthrop s claims were ungrounded and did not have any reasonable explanations, whereas Anne Hutchinson rebutted with facts. Sarah Vowell s analysis of the Puritans in The Wordy Shipmates is legitimate, her reactions to the case are logical, and like Anne Hutchinson she is easily able to justify her position with direct quotes to answer assumptions of her audience. Sarah Vowell begins her criticism writing about the background of the case, why it was opened and the prejudices against Anne Hutchinson. There was not any pressing reason for the case to open, John Winthrop just wanted to make an example out of Hutchinson, he never intended on treating her case fairly. This why he has trouble answering Hutchinson s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Human Destruction Of The Biosphere Essay The biologist E.O. Wilson estimated in 2002 that if current rates of human destruction of the biosphere continue, one half of all plant and animal species of life on earth will be extinct in 100 years. In a survey in1998 conducted by the New York s American Museum of Natural nearly of 70% of the 400 biologists interested believed that the Earth is currently in the early stages of a human caused mass extinction, known as the Holocene extinction. In that survey, the same proportion of respondents agreed with the prediction that up to 20% of all living populations could become extinct within 30 years (by 2028). Probably these predictions are too catastrophic and is quite impossible to claim the mass extinction in a short term, but these are clear advises of how much deep and negative is the interference of the Humans in the environment and in the life of the other cohabitants of this planet. I believe this evidences required changing in the life style of the world population, especially from the most industrialized countries as Europe, North Americas and part of Asia even if they represent a small part of the world population are the cause of the biggest part of the global pollution. One of the biggest issues caused by the human activity is the global warming and the consequent changes in the climate situation, that are causing natural catastrophes as the melting of glacier, desertification and extinction of some of animal species.
