Essay The Foolishness of Fools in Shakespeare s King Lear
The Foolishness of Fools in Shakespeare s King Lear
Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear is comprised of many distinct themes. His contrasts of light and
dark, good and evil, and his brilliant illustration of parallels between the foolishness of the play s
characters and society allowed him to craft a masterpiece. Just as well, Shakespeare s dynamic use
of linguistic techniques such as pun and irony aid this illustration of the perfect microcosm, not
only of 16th century Britain, but of all times and places. By far the theme that best allowed the
furthering of this superb contrast between Victorian England and Lear s own defined world is
Shakespeare s discussion of fools and their foolishness. This discussion allows Shakespeare to not

It also illustrates the bastard s mistaken belief that by fooling his father, he might be able to
eliminate his competition for Gloucester s title, Edgar, and possibly rid himself of his father in
the same token. This is a prime example of literal foolishness in King Lear, and Edmund is an
excellent example of a literal fool, both in his beliefs and his actions...both of which are foolishly
evil.
Another prime example of literal foolishness can be found in the foil characters of Regan and
Goneril, the daughters of the King. These two women, much like Edmund, find foolishness in
evil thoughts and evil deeds. As they plot to usurp Lear s power, their foolishness is illustrated
in their single minded decisions. Goneril states to Lear, Sir, I love you more than word can
wield the matter... in her insidious attempts to gain her father s land (I, i, 11). This is obviously
a lie, as the audience can very well see. And it clearly illustrates her foolishness. Not to be
outdone, however, Regan endeavors to use the same method in the theft of power from her father
s hands. She attests that Goneril has named her very deed of love but that...ironically once again,
she comes too short. (I, i, 11) perhaps in this respect, Shakespeare was attempting to draw a
parallel between Lear s daughter s, Edmund, and society. He appears to be attempting Another type
of fool in King Lear is the ignorant fool. Whereas characters such as Goneril, Regan,

Manchester United case Essay
Strategic Management: Case Study. Team 5. Manchester United: Looking Beyond 2011 12
Season. By the year of 2011 Sir Alex Ferguson was working hard to keep succeeding as he has
been doing it since his arrival with Manchester United. Key acquisitions, new line ups and
strategic decisions had been made. In the other side of the enterprise , let s say the commercial
and financial side, Mr. David Gill; current CEO of Manchester United was as well making
strategic decisions within the club. For instance the headquarters needed to me relocated due to
the large amount of staff that was working within the club by those years. David Gill was also in

Other brands are associated with specific licensing deals such as Red Cafes and Theatre of Dreams

just to mention a couple. Is important to mention also that part of these revenues come from the
summer programs that are being done within the United States and Asia, places (specially Asia) in
which Manchester United has an immense fan base. Being broadcasting the most important with a
total of 37% of the total revenue, while match day and sponsorship/commercial revenues with 35%
and 28% respectively. The case also mentioned that Manchester United had some financial issues
due to the outrageous acquisition financed by debt. Besides those debt issues, we can state that
Manchester United is quite stable and performs extremely well financially speaking. After
analyzing this we cab make some proposals for keeping the strong performance they have now: To
keep going and to make stronger and log term alliances with the current sponsors, as well as with
the TV partners the Club has. The stadium has just been rebuilt so besides the promotion that
Manchester can make, there are not additional changes that can substantially help the already huge
attendance to increase. However there is one change that Manchester can do and will lead the club
towards a more transparent, efficient and with less debt future, and the change is

Statement Of Equine Physiotherapy
On completion of my BBA in Equine Business at Maynooth University I aspire to continue my
studies to create the opportunity for myself to become a Veterinary Consultant with a specialty in
Equine Physiotherapy and open my own Equine Sports Therapy Business. Veterinary Physiotherapy
can be defined as the use of physical techniques for the treatment of musculoskeletal and/or
neurological conditions in animals. Veterinary Physiotherapy incorporates many different
techniques including manual therapyand the use of modern therapeutic methods one for example
would be hydrotherapy. Upon researching my dream profession I have taken into account what the
job entails, the qualifications required, what experience and/or qualities do I hold that would make
me suitable and if I do not have the relevant qualities and/or experience what can I do to ensure I
succeed in the future in my dream profession.

Patrick Gillespie s Let Poetry Die
Patrick Gillespie, in his article Let Poetry Die, argues that poetry is dying, and we should let it.
He explains that the public lost interest in poetry because modern poets refused to accept their
criticism. This caused the quality of poetry to decrease. Gillespie believes that the solution to this
problem is to [l]et [p]oetry [d]ie [s]o that it can be reborn (Gillespie 4). Gillespie s first claim in his
article is that poetryis being forgotten by the public.
He claims that as far as the public is concerned, poetry died with the modernists, for only a few
passing pedestrians could name a poet from the last 50 to 60 years (Gillespie 1). He then states
that if you [a]sk anyone to name a novelist of the last half century, ... names will come tumbling,
but if you [a]sk anyone to name a contemporary poet, ... you will be lucky to scrape by with John
Ashbery (Gillespie 1). Even though John Ashbery is considered one of the greatest poets of the
20th century, he is unknown to most people. Gillespie believes that the public is forgetting poetry....

He states that the Poetry Foundation was headed toward irrelevance, at best, and oblivion at
worst, but a large donation by Ruth Lilly helped the foundation and is the only reason it is what
it is today (Gillespie 2). Because Gillespie believes that poetry is being ignored by the public, he
thinks that the Poetry Foundation should not have been saved by Lilly s donation. He then
continues to criticize Lilly s contribution, claiming that it thwarted [t]he survival of the fittest, for
the Poetry Foundation is surviving and flourishing because of Lilly s wealth, not because of any
intrinsic or hard earned merit (Gillespie 2). Gillespie believes that the Poetry Foundation does not
deserve to survive, for it exists because of Lilly s donation, not because the public wants it to

The Thief In J. R. Tolkien s The Lord Of The Rings
I will be applying this criteria to Gandalf, a wizard in the series The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R
Tolkien. Despite not having wounds in his hands, feet, side and head Gandalf did sacrifice himself
for the good of his friends when he battled Balrog, a fire demon, ultimately perishing but later
rising from the dead as a pure white wizard rather than his previous gray form. Furthermore,
Gandalfis good with children as he not only is in charge of 4 children throughout his journey but
he is also known amongst other smaller children as the wizard with fireworks and great stories.
Gandalf is always seen on horseback or on foot through his travels and despite not being able to

Dinaw Mengesu s Short Story Home At Last
Has there ever been a time where you felt uncomfortable in your own body or just simply out of
place? Maybe you felt as if you didn t belong in the place you were at? This is how Dinaw
Mengestu describes how he felt in his short story, Home at Last. Dinaw talks about when he
discovered these feelings and what it was like. A time where i can relate to Dinaw Mengestu s
story is in the 6th grade. It was the middle of August, and my first day at Smithville Middle
School. I was finally one of the Big Kids. I wanted to start my middle school years off great and
fit in with all the intimidating 7th and 8th graders. What you wear is a big part of fitting in with
new people. On the first day of school, i noticed all the older girls were wearing makeup and
tight stretchy pants that showed off their butts. I decided i wanted to be exactly like them. That
same day after school, i made my mom take me to Zona Rosa to go shopping. After shopping
around for a bit i stopped upon the perfect pair of leggings. The leggings were pink with blue
spots and white stars everywhere. I begged my mom for the leggings and told her i would die
without them. In the end she finally took them up to the register. I was so excited and could not

a sore thumb and people were staring from every direction. I soon realized, i didn t want to stand
out, I just wanted to blend in with everyone. Finally, before lunch I changed into my gym clothes
and wore them the rest of the day. When I got home I pulled the leggings out of my bag and
stashed them deep in the back of my closet. To this day those leggings have not been

What Is The Paradoxical Relationship Between The Health...
I plan to study the paradoxical relationship between the health benefits of safe cycling infrastructure
and the claim that it promotes gentrification and drives the communities it is intended to serve
further into the peripheries of cycling friendly cities. In November 2016, Austin voters passed
Proposition I, which granted $137 million dollars to improve sidewalks and urban pathways1.
Among opponents of improving cycling infrastructure in East Austin, many pointed out that bicycle
lanes would increase the growing pressures of gentrification on the lower income members of the
community. This fear accompanied the claim that minorities and lower income residents of East
Austin do not use bicycles for transportation, and that the lanes would... Show more content on

I am personally interested in this topic because I believe that access to environments that promote
healthy lifestyles should not be restricted to the wealthy, and that city governments should
concentrate on increasing bike ability and walkability in lower income neighborhoods. Several
studies have shown replacing car travel with cycling and walking decreases obesity and increases
overall health5, and one study in Kansas even showed a significant decrease in employee healthcare
costs following investments in local cycling programs3. However, before interest groups launch
advocacy and infrastructure expansion, it is important that they understand the effects of that
expansion, and integrate consideration for future housing affordability into their plans.
Population (Inclusion/ Exclusion Criteria)
Through my capstone research, I hope to shed light on the three way relationship between bicycle
lanes, community health, and gentrification. To do this, I plan to find primary research that helps
me answer the following questions.
1.How does the addition of bicycle lanes affect community economics and growth?
2.Has research shown a correlation between the addition of bicycle lanes and gentrification?
3.How does bicycle lane availability differ in low income and high income

Bible
One area in the bible which I have a problem understanding is the story in
the beginning of Job. In this book, God talks to Satan and brags about His
servant Job. He then goes on to bet with Satan, that whatever Job does, he
will not renounce his faith in God. There are a couple of reasons this
strikes me as odd. First of all, why would God, who is all knowing want to
have anything to do with making deals with Satan? Secondly, why would Satan
be interested in making deals with God, if he knows God already has the
future planned out? Lastly, why would God put unnecessary affliction on His
best man if it were only to prove a point to Satan?
Maybe one of the reasons God would take a bet on by Satan in the ... Show more content on

There is no other apparent
justification for what God put on Job. Maybe something has to happen to one
person, to be able to save a thousand.
The other side of the story is seen on the part of the Satan, who unwisely,
decided to challenge God to a contest, which you think he would know he was
unable to win. So why would Satan waste his time making a bet that he knew
he would lose? The only reason I can see is that he truly thought Job would
fall under the circumstances. This exchange between Satan and God seems
like a no win situation. God, on one hand would never have made a bet,
which would result in Him, appearing weaker or him losing. But, Satan was
stupid enough to make a bet with God, which he surely knew wasn t going to
result in a victory.
The last question I presented was, why God would put unnecessary affliction
on his most honorable and blameless man? This part of the story is what I
think of as the most important. Job, just because he was righteous, thought
that he didn t deserve to have anything bad happen to him. God made a point
in the story when he chose Job as the object of His bet. Not only did God
prove something to Satan, but to Job as well. I think Job put it best when
he said With nothing from the ground I came, and with nothing I shall
return.
In conclusion, I think it important to acknowledge how strong Job

History of American Poetry
At its beginning, American poetry was extremely influenced by its European roots. This is
evidenced by the fact that the first colonists were English, who also brought along their poetic
styles and patterns. These European traits set the standard for the genesis of American poetry,
which will later we further developed and adapted by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson, who are
now considered to be the first great American poets. Because of the strong ties to European poetry,
American poets wanted to distinguish themselves from their origins and began their crusade to
build a new foundation for American poetry. Therefore, the 19th century began with high hopes for
poetic accomplishment. The first comprehensive anthologies of American poetry appeared in the
1820s, 1830s, and 1840s. In the first half of the century poets sought to entertain, to inform, and to
put into memorable language America s history, myths, manners, and topography, but they did not
seek to forge a radical new poetic tradition. Their poetry built upon tradition, and they met the first
great goal of American poetry: that it be able to compete in quality, intelligence, and breadth with
British poetry. But just as they achieved this goal, poetic aspirations began to change. By the mid
19th century the new goal for American poetry was to create something very different from British
poetry. (MarcoPolo.net). Stephen Crane s poems (Behold, the grave of a wicked man, I saw a man

Enuma Elish And Genesis Analysis
The world humans inhabit is a messy place filled with chaos and uncertainty. In attempting to
understand human life in this world, creation stories are helpful since they provide explanations to
the mysteries of life such as good and evil. Two examples of creation myths are Enuma Elish and
Genesis 1 4, which both detail the formation of the humanworld. However, Genesis is better for
understanding human life because it details the beginnings of human life, not just the creation, and
the origins of good and evil. Moreover, the origins of good and evil in Genesis are more like what
humans encounter in the world. In Genesis 1 4, three stories are told in which human life can be
understood. The first story is of creation, which explains why there

Explain The Potential Difficulties Of The Lambing Process
Potential Difficulties of the Lambing Process The lambing process is a natural procedure that
usually can take place without assistance however, when breeding, it is helpful to know about it
so that if needed you can help and successfully deliver the lamb. A ewe is pregnant for 5 months
before delivering her lamb/s and can carry a few lambs at once however single and twin births
are the most common in flocks. First time mothers are usually expected to have a single lamb
whereas 2nd time and older ewes commonly have twins or even triplets. A ewe will mother/lamb

G. F. Kennedy) The failure to dilate occurs when the cervix, lower passage of the womb, fails to

Checking dilation is the first symptom to look for and if it hasn t occurred then time is to be
given to allow it however, failure to dilate for an extended period of time with hard labour and
the presence of a water bag probably needs veterinarian assistance and possibly a caesarean
section. (Mike Neary Extension Sheep Specialist, Purdue University). The process of caesarean

pregnant the following year. This can be shown in a study taken between 1996 and 2004 by the
Norwegian School of Veterinary Science. 162 ewes underwent caesareans and 162 underwent
natural births. Out of the caesareans, 2 ewes died from illnesses they were exposed to in the
unnatural process whereas only one of the ewes passed during delivery. Although the death rate of
lambs did not differ significantly, although they were higher for caesareans, the numbers of ewes
that went on to deliver the next year did. The ewes that delivered unnaturally had a reduced

Consequences And Implications For The Globalization Of Crime
1)Held, describes globalisation as the growing interconnectedness of states and societies and the
progressive enmeshment of human communities with each other (Held,2000) over the last few
centuries, human communities have come into increasing contact with each other; their collective
fortunes have become intertwined (ibid) His definition is useful because it points to the long
history of the globalising processes. Globalisation also has consequences that come along with its
growth and interconnectedness, Held et al claimed that there had been a globalisation of crimedue to
the increasing interconnectedness of crime across national borders. Globalisation aids in creating
new opportunities for crime and new means of committing crime and new offences for example
various cyber crimes. A principal driver that can be identified to explain globalisations acceleration
in the last few decades is technology. Information and communication technology has allowed
international trade and finance to become despatialised to a large extent (J. Pakes 2013) This has
allowed outsourcing for instance, and the emergence of a truly global marketplace, increasing the
value and proficiency of multinational companies.
Consequences of globalisation for the discipline of criminology has beneficial advantages but it also
comes along with disadvantages. A beneficial effect is that Globalisation may help in making

Phaedra And Theseus
I think that mostly the main characters in Greek tragedies don t deserve what happens to them,
as their fortunes have already been told by the Gods, but for some of their own actions
condemned themselves. Firstly Phaedra s feelings where controlled by a powerful and vengeful
God, Phaedra had no choice in the feelings she felt for Hippolytus, and the God had made them
so strong that she could almost not control them. She had started to starve herself out to protect
her name, and the name of her children. She would rather die and keep her name intact than
succumb to her feeling and have her name be worth less than dirt. Because of this I don t think it s
anywhere near fair to say that Phaedra deserved what had happened to her. However what she...

His actions might have been because of godly influence, but too much seemed to be because of
his hot headedness. We see him first acting king like, cool and rational. But quickly after he
hears that Phaedra had died he completely loses all control. He becomes very irrational and
stubborn. He reads the note which Phaedra had left, and without even a thought he accuses
Hippolytus of the deed and curses him with a curse that was given to him by Poseidon himself.
He does this without a trial where Hippolytus could defend himself. He barely lets Hippolytus
explain to him on how it couldn t have been him that had raped Phaedra, but Theseus is blind to
his arguments. He questions Hippolytus piety and his celibacy, and dismisses both as massive
lies told by his son. Then when all is explained by Artemis, he is completely surprised, and
hugely regrets his actions. Hippolytus forgives him just before he dies of his wounds done by the

called host country, global and home country approaches. What are the advantages and
disadvantages of these approaches? Why is the home country approach most often used? What are
the limitations of the home country approach? Organizations use pay strategies to assist in the

Personal Narrative-The Battle Of Linton Hollow
I am in mourning and shock. For twenty days, the hen house in my backyard lay under siege in
what became known as The Battle of Linton Hollow. Night after night, the chickens cowered in
fear as hungry predators circled their coop searching for ways to get at them. By day, my wife and
I mended holes in the fencing and set traps, but in the end, there was nothing we could do to save
them. It s hard to admit, but we were simply outwitted by a craftier, more relentless, superior
intelligence. The varmints that struck down our chickens one by one could have taught Colonel
Sanders a thing or two about finger licking good. Once they honed in on the hen house location, and
tasted the first chicken, there was no keeping them out of the buffet line. The final casualty count
read seven chicken lunches, seven raccoons, and three opossums. Although I would have... Show

We did not skimp or plan it that way. In fact, we were excited when we first built the coop; we
were proud of our handiwork and thought any chicken would be honored to have such a great

laughing at us. However, the twenty day siege taught us a few things about design, and as result,
come spring, our backyard chicken coop will undergo major renovations. Galvanized hardware
cloth will replace the old 19 gauge chicken wire top to bottom. Rolls of 18 inch galvanized razor
wire will cover the top of the coop, and overlapping electric fencing will wrap around the

Zarathustra Nietzsche Overcoming Nausea
Overcoming Nausea
Doubt is an uncomfortable condition, but certainty is a ridiculous one. Voltaire
For many Nietzsche s proclamation of God s death is liberating. No longer shall life be dictated
by groundless superstition; we are now free to judge for ourselves what constitutes a good life.
The adoption of this idea seems to allow for greater degrees of self fulfillment. If this is the case,
why is it that such a large portion of our population still upholds religion? In book four of Thus
Spoke Zarathustra Nietzsche addresses one of the central concerns entailed by the abandonment of
religion. Proceeding his discourses on the higher man Zarathustra temporarily retreats from his
guests. During this time the magician is overcome by what ... Show more content on

The conscientious man then scolds his beguiled peers We seek different things up here, you and
I. For I seek more security, that is why I came to Zarathustra. For he is the firmest tower and will
today... But you when I see the eyes you make, it almost seems to me that you are seeking more
insecurity: more thrills, more danger, more earthquakes... you desire the most wicked, most
dangerous life of which I am most afraid: the life of wild animals, woods caves, steep mountains,
and labyrinthian gorges... even if such desire in you is real, it still seems impossible to me. For
fear is the original and basic feeling of man; from fear, everything is explicable, original sin and
original virtue. From fear my own virtue too has grown, and it is called science. (p.414). The
conscientious man has taken such issue with others out of a desire for certainty. He hopes that
Zarathustra can teach him truths that will provide secure footing in a confusing world. However,
the others have accepted a life of uncertainty and danger. Attempting to affirm his desires the
conscientious man appeals to fear which he believes to be the most primitive feature of man. He
asserts that everything even science originates from fear. Therefore, his inclination to avoid danger
is virtuous and at the very least

Slit Drum History
The evolution of the drums has varied from being made from a simple wood log, to having a
hollow object covered in rawhide, to being completely electronic. Like any instrument, each one
produces a different sound. Some may sound light like a snare, deep like a bass, or metronomic by
simply producing a clicking noise to keep count. Some are completely electronic, even.
Starting from one of the oldest drums in the world, the slit drum is an instrument originating from
Africa that is made from a hollow piece of wood or carved from bamboo. They are typically
made with three slits, (hence the name slit drum ) each one producing a different tone. Like
most drums, slit drums can be played using rubber mallet or with the tips of your finger tips.
Unlike today, where we have telephones and social media to talk to one another long distantly,
this instrument was once, and probably still is, used as a form of communication. For war cries,
signaling, storytelling, and ceremonies. The djembe drum is made somewhat like the slit drum.
Made with a hardwood that is hollowed out, however, this drum is made with a piece of animal
hide covering the top of it. It is also a bit like the slit drum in a sense that it is mainly ... Show more

This drum is estimated to be around five to eight hundred years old, and was created during the
Malian Empire by the Mande people. What s different from the djembe drum than any other
drums created is that it is very spiritual to make them. One has to make a sacrifice and get
permission to cut down a tree to make it. After it is cut down, typically the wood is custom fitted
to specifically fit the drummer. It s a tradition to this day that you have to be born into in order to
play, or be interested in playing the djembe drum. Children are typically taught how to play with
coffee cans on the side of the road or with pots and pans. Sounds familiar,

Charles Wesley Biography
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
(Matt. 1:1 ESV)
Sunday was Charles Wesley s birthday. I ve always liked Charles Wesley, for more than just his
prolific hymn writing. And make no mistake he was prolific. what amazes me about Wesley is not
just how many hymsn he wrote, but how many theologically rich, musically sound they are. it s one
thing to write a lot of hymns. It s quite another to write so many good ones.

saw Joh as being more important, or at least a greater driving force behind Methodism, and he

So no, although I think Charles might have been more fun to hang out with He was simply
different than his brother. The Wesleys embody the idea that God sues the entire Body fo Christ

Analysis Of Emily Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
Virginia Woolf s writing pattern is beautifully interwoven in and out of the thoughts of each
character. She has the ability to portray random, yet structured working of the mind giving the
reader a sense of mental time. The past, present, and future are constantly intertwining, which
allows the reader to enter different frames in Mrs. Dalloway s life in such a short period of time.
This method draws a connection with how people think, feel, and dream in all different directions.
Instead of following a basic plot, Woolf expresses a certain point of view in Mrs. Dalloway by
digging inside the minds of each character. She constantly uses stream of consciousness, which
gives insight for the different characters. These moments of memories and presentsituations allow
the reader to develop a full understanding of Clarissa s character in only a single day. Woolf
successfully illustrates how time can sufficiently reveal one s character, but in particular uses
Clarissa to show that it is impossible to escape the pastbecause of the present reality of time
constantly on her shoulders. Woolf presents time in the novel as being sporadic. People tend to
imagine time as progressing steadily like a second hand on a clock, but it is much more than that.
Thoughts are constantly being thrown around in the mind making time pass by quickly, slowly, or
just makes one freeze in time internally, but not externally. Clarissa arrives at the flower shop in the
morning and all of her senses are

fragmentation mark an important stage in postmodernist, multicultural, and feminist writing. By

did not spread to other continents until the 1980 s. According to the center for disease control and
prevention, HIVis most prevalent in African American communities. Unfortunately, it appears that

The stigma towards HIV positive African American women also exists within their own
communities; unfortunately, this stigma towards these women does not encourage them to come
out as HIV positive individuals. The problem with this fear is that it not only worsens the anguish
for the sick individual, but also puts the people around the individual at risk. In Social Context of
Rural Women with HIV/AIDS, authors Kenneth D. Phillips, Linda Moneyham, Sandra P. Thomas,
Mary Gunther, Medha Vyavaharkar discuss the significance of the stigma felt by HIV positive
women; the authors point out that the existing stigma causes these women to live in secret (2011).
In order to keep their illness hidden, they would have to be maintain some form of normalcy with
the people around them. Societal stigma plays an important role in the occurrence of HIV; it can
be studied by examining the results of stigma reduction in African American communities (Loutfy
et al, 2015). HIV stigma reduction is difficult when dealing with African American women
because the stigma of sexism and racism cannot be ignored. One of the other effects of stigma is
depression (Logie, James, Tharao, Loutfy, 2012). In a multi method community based research
(CBR) study with Women s Health in Women s Hands (WLWH) across Ontario, researchers also
found that other forms of stigma like race and gender do correlate with the stigma felt by HIV

This satire involves the devil, a psych ward, and love. Although this story is fictional, it allegorises

Bulgakov, the author, used a lot of symbolism and magical realism to write about the environment

Mr Wilson Vs Macomber Essay
Hemingway uses his art of perspective in The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , to show
the negative characteristics of the characters Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Macomber, and Mr. Macomber.
These negative effects give an unwelcome and pervasive feeling to the story.
To begin, Hemingway portrays the character of Mr. Wilson as a judgmental and arrogant
professional in this short story. His judgmental views on Mr. and Mrs. Macomber also help to
develop their characters as well as his. Wilson thinks to himself, So he s a bloody four letter man as
well as a bloody coward, he thought. I rather liked him too until today. But how is one to know

Macomber shows in her short story shows she is very unfaithful to her husband. She does this
by how much she purposefully goes behind Mr. Macomber s back and is with Mr. Wilson. In
the first part, Mrs. Macomber did not speak to him when she came in and he left the tent at once
to wash his face and hands in the portable wash basin outside and go over to the dining tent to sit
in a comfortable canvas chair in the breeze and the shade.(Page 1) She would not speak to him
because she thought he was a coward for not killing the lion. This shows she is not only
unfaithful but also unfair to her husband. With the perspective from Hemingway, we see this
through the narrator how she does not treat Mr. Macomber fairly. In the second half of the story,
Mrs. Macomber just leaves Mr. Macomber and does not question her actions. Mr. Macomber is
beginning to realize what she is doing. Mr Macomber turned back to where Wilson sat in the
rear seat of the doorless, box bodied motor car beside his wife, them both grinning with
excitement. It is not right for Mrs. Macomber to sit with the tour guide, Mr. Wilson, instead of her
husband. This shows her being unfaithful to Mr. Macomber and it only continues to happen more
and more. WIth the perspective of Mr. Macomber, we see that Mrs. Macomber and Mr. Wilson
have something going on together and Mrs. Macomber is being unfaithful. In the final part of the
story Mrs. Macomber and Mr. Wilson have intercourse in the middle of the trip and we

Theme Of The Bible
What would you say is the main theme of the Bible?
Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the King of the Jews, has been revealed to us in the Old Testament.
Scripture revealed to the people how and when the Messiah would come and what would happen
during His time on Earth. Isaiah 53 speaks of the pain and suffering that Jesus would endure for His
people yet He would not defend himself. After he had suffered He would see the Light of Life
and be satisfied. God s righteous servant would justify and bear the sins of many and would make
intersession for the transgressors. (NIV) Zechariah 9 declares the He is righteous, victorious, just
and a lowly King riding on a donkey. His rule shall be to the ends of the earth, proclaiming peace to
the nations. (NIV) The New Testament conveys His birth, ministry, death, resurrection and second
coming. I am in complete agreement with Bickle and Jantz, (1998, p. 61) statement that God sent
Jesus so that creation may know the Creator furthermore, that Jesus Christ is the theme of the Bible.

Speech On Garage Sale
A garage sale or also known as yard sale, moving sale or tag sale is commonly done whenever
you need to get rid of some things like doing a spring cleaning . The most common items sold in
a garage tale are unwanted furnitures, toys, books, games and even clothes. It is advisable to sell
things that are still in good condition because they have a better chance to be bought. Having a
yard sale does not really require any business permit or tax since it is just what people do to earn a
little bit of money out of the things they have. The sellers normally display their unwanted stuffs in
their garage/yard, hence the name. If you are thinking of putting up a garage salethen here are some
tips and tricks you can do.

But of course before you do a garage sale, you must first declutter you house and look for the
things that you can actually sell just like furnitures that you no longer want, clothes you don t wear
anymore, toys that have been stocked in the attic and many more. Another reason why people do a
garage sale is because they are moving. They don t want their old stuff anymore so instead of
moving it with them they just sell it.
#3 DECENT PRICING AND PROMOS
if you want a lot of people to go check out your garage sale, you must always make sure that the
things you are selling comes in a decent price. For example, you are selling your old leather
couch that has a few holes on it, don t sell it for more than $100 because that is just ridiculous
and surely no one will get that. Also don t sell with the same price you bought it. People would
expect you to sell things under $50 since it is a garage sale after all so technically everything that
is being sold there are already used.
#4 ADVERTISE YOUR YARD

Dorian Gray Sins
The book Dorian Gray portrays that your sins always come back to a person, you shouldn t live
your life only for self pleasure, and beauty always reigns. In the book Dorian realizes that whatever
bad thing or sins he has done over the years doesn t happen to him, it ends up on the picture painted
by his friend Basil Howard, who is an artist and friend of Lord Henry Wotton. While Dorian is
having a conversation with Lord Henry, a noble man and friend of Basil Howard, Lord Henry says
Hat does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his soul. (The Picture of Dorian Gray,
Wilde), and Dorian responds that there is such thing as a soul, hinting that his soul is in the
painting, and because his soul is in the painting the more his soul is corrupted it shows on the

Comparing Aquinas And Descartes Arguments For The...
Aquinas and Descartes both have arguments for the existence of God, with some similarities and a
multitude of differences. Descartes presents two major premises in his argument with his degrees
of reality principle and his casual adequacy principle. It is possible for Descartes to be influenced
by Aquinas, but the arguments for the same thing differ greatly that even if any inspiration
Descartes could have pulled from Aquinas work is minimal, to say the least.
Comparing Aquinas and Descartes they both in a way have arguments for cause in proving the
existence of God. Aquinas in that nor indeed it is possible, that anything is the efficient cause of
itself (The Second Way, 2) and there needs to be a first cause that is the cause of all... Show more

To Aquinas things either exist or they do not, to Descartes things can be on levels of existence.
One of Descartes main reasons for the existence of God is that, God put the idea of himself in
Descartes head Hence there remains only the idea of God, concerning which we much consider
whether it is something which cannot have proceeded from me myself, (Third Meditation, pg 16).
Aquinas Five Ways are trying to prove the existence of God to others, while Descartes is trying to
prove the existence of God to himself.
The major premises in Descartes Third Meditation are his degrees of reality principle and his
causal adequacy principle. Descartes degrees of reality come from his ideas of more or less real,
things can fall under properties being less real, like colors, to finite substances, to infinite
substances being the most real, like God But I understand God to be actually infinite, so that he
can add nothing to His supreme perfection (Third Meditation, pg 17). Something like a table can
be a finite substance but the color of the table, its brownness, is something considered to be less
real to Descartes, a less real property. Descartes casual adequacy principle which goes like Now it
is manifest by the natural light that there must be as much reality in the efficient and total cause as
in its effect, (Third Meditation, pg 15) meaning that something is not created from nothing, like the
stone. The casual adequacy principle can

Strategy Implementation Process Paper
In everything that we do, we have used some kind of strategy (plan). From driving to the store,
which street to take to get there the fastest, to selecting that perfect item at the high tech store, the
newest digital gadget. It is in our nature to formulate this kind of behavior when we are given a
choice. In an organization it is much harder to accomplish that same behavior because there is
more than one individual in the process, but still possible to do. Strategy is a guide by which an
organization moves from a current state of affairs to a future desired state. In this paper I will
explain the strategy implementation concept of the basic model of strategic managementthat we can
use to make this happen. Strategy implementation is the process... Show more content on

Budget stage, this is the gathering of all of our resources needed to accomplish all of the steps in
the program stage. Procedures stage, the final of the three and just as important as the other
two, by this stage steps and resources are in place and all that is left is the sequence of steps
needed to do the job. Finally, I explained the strategy implementation process as I used it to work
for me in the Distance Learning Center. The overall experience that I went through was worth
every second I had to work extra to have it all in place. But I know that this process will make the
Distance Learning Center more efficient for all that follow and in the hopes that they too will make
the necessary improvements to keep the entire process working

I Am Legend Film Analysis Essay
Jessica Wang
English 106
10 April 2008
Robert Neville is the last normal living man in the world. The all of New York City is in ruins.
How long can Robert Neville survive alone with his dog in a world of vampires and how long do
you think you can live in this case?
The film, I Am Legend is a post apocalyptic science fiction film directed by Francis Lawrence and
starring Will Smith. It was released on December 14th, 2007. This film is actually the third
adaptation of Richard Matheson s novel of the same name from 1954. Smith plays virologist
Robert Neville, who lives in New York City in 2012, which is inhabited by animalistic victims of
the virus. He is immune to a vicious man made virus originally created to cure cancer and works to

It tells us that technology sometimes is dangerous and vital if we cannot gain power over it.
Later in the movie, Dr. Neville takes Anna to the lab, Anna is amazed to see the zombies lying
on the bed, and simply sighed Oh my god , Dr. Neville just said calmly God didn t do this; we
did . Again, Dr. Neville uncovered the truth that all the faults actually are made by ourselves
though new technology does help us in some cases. However, human begins should be responsible
for what they have done to the whole world in the near future, meanwhile, it also teaches us a
lesson that never rush to create new technology at the cost of the whole world and all the living
things in the world.
There is an alternate ending which is totally different from the original one we have seen in the
movie, which amazed me a lot. In the original one, it is a pity that Dr. Neville died in the end
with the self explored; according to many reviews, the majority of the audiences do not like this
ending. The alternate ending is that Robert finally brushes up against a zombie next to him and
comes in contact with him; he never gets that close to any of them in the movie and seeing that
gives me a chill. In this ending, it leaves me the normal human feelings, which makes Dr. Neville
more like a legend. However, the original one is

Example Of Phonological Awareness
Phonological awareness is the learning of different sounds, words and syllables learnt through
listening and speaking (Gillon, 2004). Phonological awareness is important for children in early
childhood to learn to establish their reading and writing skills (Hill, 2012, 160). The way
children learn phonological awareness is through word play, stretching sounds, repeat ion,
rhymes and song (Hill, 2012, p. 134; Roger Scenter, 2013).Phoneme awareness is a smaller area
considered as part of phonological awareness, phoneme awareness focuses on individual sounds
that effect understanding (Hill, 2012, p. 134). An example of phoneme awareness would be the
word cat sound it out as c/, a/ and t/ or the ch sound. Hill (2012, p. 134) states phonological

Nanotechnology And Its Effects On The Field Of Drug...
Nanomedicine, the application of nanotechnology in medicine has attracted a great deal of
attention in the field of drug delivery and tissue engineering over the past few decades. This
increasing interest in nanomedicine is driven by its potential to revolutionize the treatment of some
prevalent global disease such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis,
osteoarthritis, and diabetes in safer and more effective ways [1, 2]. Nanotechnology refers to the
engineering of materials at the atomic, molecular, and supramolecular levels in at least one
dimension from 1 100 nanometers [3]. The manipulation of matter at the nanoscale to fabricate

The latter refers to the targeted drug delivery, which is a key aspect of nanomedicine. Targeted
delivery is to deliver therapeutic agents in the right concentration, in the right time to the right site.
The idea of targeted drug delivery is not new and dates back to 1906, when for the first time Paul
Ehrlich disseminated the concept of a magic bullet [14]. Almost after a century researching on
targeted drug delivery, the magic bullet is still a challenge to implement in the clinic. The challenge
involves finding the appropriate therapeutic agents, targeting moieties, and pharmaceutical carriers
[15]. An ideal pharmaceutical vehicle would be biocompatible, biodegradable, non toxic and non
immunogenic. In addition, it should not be recognized by the host s defense

Managerial Accounting Is A Discipline Within The Accounting
Managerial accounting is a discipline within the accounting community that focuses on providing
valuable information to the leaders of their organization. The importance of the community relies
on its ability to provide information that is not readily found in traditional financial statements
developed in the accounting department for reporting to outside agencies. Activity based
managementutilizes information developed using activity based costing (ABC) to accurately
determine product costs. Accurate and detailed information is required for an organization to
reliably budget for the upcoming quarter or year. A complete understanding of the significance of
activity based costing and thorough knowledge of budget concepts are critical... Show more content

ABC provides a path to assign the overhead to the product requiring the overhead. In the above
scenario, 75% of the production efforts are for product A, so 75% of the overhead can be
assigned to product A. Activity based costing attempts to overcome the perceived deficiencies in
traditional costing methods by more closely aligning activities with products. This requires
abandoning the traditional division between product and period costs, instead seeking to find a
more direct linkage between activities, costs, and products (Walther, 2010). ABC is very beneficial
to organizations that produce many products. ABC applies all costs (direct and indirect) to a
product s cost. To apply the principles of ABC, and organization must first gather all of the
available cost information for the organization. Once this is complete, the organization must
identify activities. This is an important step because too many activities will become too large an
undertaking to manage while too few will not yield the desired results. Once the activities are
identified, the organization must identify traceable costs. These are costs that can be directly
related to a product. At this point, one must assign the remaining costs. These are costs, such as
janitorial services that cannot be tied to a specific product. Once all costs are assigned, the
organization must determine the per activity allocation rates. For instance, if it costs a company

Nuclear Technology And Its Impact On The Atomic Age
On August 6th and 9th, 1945 the first atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Japan. With the use of these new weapons a door was opened that could never be closed, a new
and uncertain era was now upon the world, and the use of atomic power could mean the betterment
or destruction of a nation at a moment s notice. Whether you like it or not, you live in the atomic
age and it can have many implications that you may or may not know about. The Manhattan Project
is well known to have developed the first two atomic bombs, fat man, and little boy, but nuclear
technology was being researched many years before this. Uraniumwas first found in 1789 by Martin
Klaproth, and was discovered to have ionizing radiation in 1895 by Wilhelm Rontgen (Outline
History of Nuclear Energy). More and more information on uranium and other materials were being
discovered, such as: radioactive materials emitting alpha particles in 1896 by Henri Becquerel, in
1902 the discovery of radiation being a spontaneous event by Ernest Rutherford, Niels Bohr and his
increased understanding of the atom, in 1932 when James Chadwick discovered the neutron, etc.
Other nations also spent resources on developing nuclear technology such as in Russia with their
Radium Institute of Leningrad FTI, but was hampered with Stalin s purges that eliminated
prominent scientists working there; British scientists developed the concept of the atomic bomb
with the MAUD committee in 1940 and continued research on the

World and the beginning of the American Revolutionary War(Fischer, 1994). The Battles of
Lexington and Concord consisted of in four events: the skirmish in Lexington between the British
Regulars and the Lexington Training Band, the search and seizure of arms, munitions and military

General Gage understood that detaining the key leaders would not prove fruitful and therefore
changed the mission to strictly searching for and seizing arms, munitions, supplies, and military
stores. General Gage gave this mission to Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith with very discreet
orders to not brief his soldiers as to what the exact mission would be. General Gage also
appointed Major John Pitcairn as the Executive Officer for the mission. The initial mission
would consist of approximately 700 British Regulars, who were pulled from 11 of General Gage
s 13 infantry regiments. Major Pitcairn would command 10 elite infantry companies and
Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Bernard would command 11 grenadier companies. Of the 700
Regulars assigned to conduct the mission, 350 were from the grenadier companies: 4th (King s
Own), 5th, 10th, 18th (Royal Irish), 23rd, 38th, 43rd, 47th, 52nd and 59th Regiments of Foot as
well as the 1st battalion of the 1st Battalion of His Majesty s Marine Forces. There was
approximately 320 light infantry assigned the role of protecting the grenadier units. These light
infantry Regulars were from the 4th, 5th, 10th, 23rd, 38th, 43rd, 47th, 52nd and 59th Regiments

The Pros And Consequences Of The Cultural Revolution
In 1921, the Chinese Communist party arose, bringing about the ideologies of Karl Marx, along
with the removal of class exploitation and oppression. Mao s Ideological crusade, the Cultural
Revolution in 1966, was designed to jolt China back toward mass mobilization, and utopian
idealism. The Cultural Revolution was, a revolution for the Communist party as it was their goal to
eliminate counterrevolutionary ideology and eliminate all right wing influence. However, Mao s
ideas of riding China of capitalistic influences with violence and retaining power by manipulation
was out of tune with the ideas of the CCP because it ultimately led to a breakdown in culture,
technology, and human resources through decentralization and manipulation.
The Chinese Communist party emphasized the strategy of mass mobilization to improve industrial
production and agriculture. After a time of poverty and famine, Comrade Mao Zedong set out to
gain support in order to eradicate capitalistic influences. Mao said, In order to overthrow a political
power, it is always necessary to first of all, create public opinion, to do ideological work. (Sixteen
Point decision pg. 129).
Mao used public opinion to sway the revolution into unstable equilibrium. Mao uses the strategy
of the Cult of Personality to manipulate people to believe what they were doing was right, but in
reality, it was just a way for Mao to gain support. His support for classes like peasants and school
kids was his way jump start the

A Mabel Dodge Speech

Mabel Dodge Speech Good Evening my fellow neighbors. Most of you know me and for the
ones who do not, I am Mabel Dodge. I am the daughter from a family in Buffalo and had what
was considered the best education for girls in the nineteenth century. Instead of going to college,
I got married, became a mother and soon, a widow. Later, I traveled abroad and soon married a
Boston architect, Edwin Dodge who I later realized the passion I had was no more so I divorced
him. I became bored and began to crave art, the beauty and inspiration! A salon in Florence, Italy
that I created for the purpose of attracting the most up and coming artists in Europe, had me
become well known and even a muse for one of Gertrude Stein s image poems. I reluctantly joined
Edwin my husband at the time, who was eager to come back to the United States. I settled in an
apartment on the lower Fifth Avenue which most of you have been in for my evenings of
controversial debates. What will women do with their new freedom? Not turn evil as many of you
would think. Women could create lives for themselves, become economically independent and
independent throughout. There are opportunities for women outside of the home. There is a whole
other life outside the house. Yes, some women will have to learn to govern themselves but that is
only because they were never given the chance to in their lives before. I quote Walter Lippmann in,

  • 2. Essay The Foolishness of Fools in Shakespeare s King Lear The Foolishness of Fools in Shakespeare s King Lear Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear is comprised of many distinct themes. His contrasts of light and dark, good and evil, and his brilliant illustration of parallels between the foolishness of the play s characters and society allowed him to craft a masterpiece. Just as well, Shakespeare s dynamic use of linguistic techniques such as pun and irony aid this illustration of the perfect microcosm, not only of 16th century Britain, but of all times and places. By far the theme that best allowed the furthering of this superb contrast between Victorian England and Lear s own defined world is Shakespeare s discussion of fools and their foolishness. This discussion allows Shakespeare to not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also illustrates the bastard s mistaken belief that by fooling his father, he might be able to eliminate his competition for Gloucester s title, Edgar, and possibly rid himself of his father in the same token. This is a prime example of literal foolishness in King Lear, and Edmund is an excellent example of a literal fool, both in his beliefs and his actions...both of which are foolishly evil. Another prime example of literal foolishness can be found in the foil characters of Regan and Goneril, the daughters of the King. These two women, much like Edmund, find foolishness in evil thoughts and evil deeds. As they plot to usurp Lear s power, their foolishness is illustrated in their single minded decisions. Goneril states to Lear, Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter... in her insidious attempts to gain her father s land (I, i, 11). This is obviously a lie, as the audience can very well see. And it clearly illustrates her foolishness. Not to be outdone, however, Regan endeavors to use the same method in the theft of power from her father s hands. She attests that Goneril has named her very deed of love but that...ironically once again, she comes too short. (I, i, 11) perhaps in this respect, Shakespeare was attempting to draw a parallel between Lear s daughter s, Edmund, and society. He appears to be attempting Another type of fool in King Lear is the ignorant fool. Whereas characters such as Goneril, Regan, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Manchester United case Essay Strategic Management: Case Study. Team 5. Manchester United: Looking Beyond 2011 12 Season. By the year of 2011 Sir Alex Ferguson was working hard to keep succeeding as he has been doing it since his arrival with Manchester United. Key acquisitions, new line ups and strategic decisions had been made. In the other side of the enterprise , let s say the commercial and financial side, Mr. David Gill; current CEO of Manchester United was as well making strategic decisions within the club. For instance the headquarters needed to me relocated due to the large amount of staff that was working within the club by those years. Other brands are associated with specific licensing deals such as Red Cafes and Theatre of Dreams restaurants. Other sources for Manchester come from different partners like Audi and Budweiser just to mention a couple. Is important to mention also that part of these revenues come from the summer programs that are being done within the United States and Asia, places (specially Asia) in which Manchester United has an immense fan base. Being broadcasting the most important with a total of 37% of the total revenue, while match day and sponsorship/commercial revenues with 35% and 28% respectively. The case also mentioned that Manchester United had some financial issues due to the outrageous acquisition financed by debt. Besides those debt issues, we can state that Manchester United is quite stable and performs extremely well financially speaking. After analyzing this we cab make some proposals for keeping the strong performance they have now: To keep going and to make stronger and log term alliances with the current sponsors, as well as with the TV partners the Club has. The stadium has just been rebuilt so besides the promotion that Manchester can make, there are not additional changes that can substantially help the already huge attendance to increase. However there is one change that Manchester can do and will lead the club towards a more transparent, efficient and with less debt future, and the change is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Patrick Gillespie s Let Poetry Die Patrick Gillespie, in his article Let Poetry Die, argues that poetry is dying, and we should let it. He explains that the public lost interest in poetry because modern poets refused to accept their criticism. This caused the quality of poetry to decrease. Gillespie believes that the solution to this problem is to [l]et [p]oetry [d]ie [s]o that it can be reborn (Gillespie 4). Gillespie s first claim in his article is that poetryis being forgotten by the public. He claims that as far as the public is concerned, poetry died with the modernists, for only a few passing pedestrians could name a poet from the last 50 to 60 years (Gillespie 1). He then states that if you [a]sk anyone to name a novelist of the last half century, ... names will come tumbling, but if you [a]sk anyone to name a contemporary poet, ... you will be lucky to scrape by with John Ashbery (Gillespie 1). Even though John Ashbery is considered one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, he is unknown to most people. Gillespie believes that the public is forgetting poetry.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that the Poetry Foundation was headed toward irrelevance, at best, and oblivion at worst, but a large donation by Ruth Lilly helped the foundation and is the only reason it is what it is today (Gillespie 2). Because Gillespie believes that poetry is being ignored by the public, he thinks that the Poetry Foundation should not have been saved by Lilly s donation. He then continues to criticize Lilly s contribution, claiming that it thwarted [t]he survival of the fittest, for the Poetry Foundation is surviving and flourishing because of Lilly s wealth, not because of any intrinsic or hard earned merit (Gillespie 2). Gillespie believes that the Poetry Foundation does not deserve to survive, for it exists because of Lilly s donation, not because the public wants it to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Published in two thousand two by Regnery Publishing Incorporation in Washington D.C., this book is only one of Gertz s successful novels. Enemies, Treachery, and New York Times bestselling book Betrayal are just some of his masterpieces (Penguin Random House). Maybe you felt as if you didn t belong in the place you were at? This is how Dinaw Mengestu describes how he felt in his short story, Home at Last. Dinaw talks about when he discovered these feelings and what it was like. A time where i can relate to Dinaw Mengestu s story is in the 6th grade. It was the middle of August, and my first day at Smithville Middle School. I was finally one of the Big Kids. I wanted to start my middle school years off great and fit in with all the intimidating 7th and 8th graders. What you wear is a big part of fitting in with new people. On the first day of school, i noticed all the older girls were wearing makeup and tight stretchy pants that showed off their butts. I decided i wanted to be exactly like them. That same day after school, i made my mom take me to Zona Rosa to go shopping. After shopping around for a bit i stopped upon the perfect pair of leggings. The leggings were pink with blue spots and white stars everywhere. I begged my mom for the leggings and told her i would die without them. In the end she finally took them up to the register. I soon realized, i didn t want to stand out, I just wanted to blend in with everyone. Finally, before lunch I changed into my gym clothes and wore them the rest of the day. • 9. What Is The Paradoxical Relationship Between The Health... I plan to study the paradoxical relationship between the health benefits of safe cycling infrastructure and the claim that it promotes gentrification and drives the communities it is intended to serve further into the peripheries of cycling friendly cities. In November 2016, Austin voters passed Proposition I, which granted $137 million dollars to improve sidewalks and urban pathways1. Among opponents of improving cycling infrastructure in East Austin, many pointed out that bicycle lanes would increase the growing pressures of gentrification on the lower income members of the community. This fear accompanied the claim that minorities and lower income residents of East Austin do not use bicycles for transportation, and that the lanes would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am personally interested in this topic because I believe that access to environments that promote healthy lifestyles should not be restricted to the wealthy, and that city governments should concentrate on increasing bike ability and walkability in lower income neighborhoods. Several studies have shown replacing car travel with cycling and walking decreases obesity and increases overall health5, and one study in Kansas even showed a significant decrease in employee healthcare costs following investments in local cycling programs3. However, before interest groups launch advocacy and infrastructure expansion, it is important that they understand the effects of that expansion, and integrate consideration for future housing affordability into their plans. Population (Inclusion/ Exclusion Criteria) Through my capstone research, I hope to shed light on the three way relationship between bicycle lanes, community health, and gentrification. To do this, I plan to find primary research that helps me answer the following questions. 1.How does the addition of bicycle lanes affect community economics and growth? 2.Has research shown a correlation between the addition of bicycle lanes and gentrification? 3.How does bicycle lane availability differ in low income and high income ... • 10. Bible One area in the bible which I have a problem understanding is the story in the beginning of Job. In this book, God talks to Satan and brags about His servant Job. He then goes on to bet with Satan, that whatever Job does, he will not renounce his faith in God. There are a couple of reasons this strikes me as odd. First of all, why would God, who is all knowing want to have anything to do with making deals with Satan? Secondly, why would Satan be interested in making deals with God, if he knows God already has the future planned out? Lastly, why would God put unnecessary affliction on His best man if it were only to prove a point to Satan? Maybe one of the reasons God would take a bet on by Satan in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no other apparent justification for what God put on Job. Maybe something has to happen to one person, to be able to save a thousand. The other side of the story is seen on the part of the Satan, who unwisely, decided to challenge God to a contest, which you think he would know he was unable to win. So why would Satan waste his time making a bet that he knew he would lose? The only reason I can see is that he truly thought Job would fall under the circumstances. This exchange between Satan and God seems like a no win situation. God, on one hand would never have made a bet, which would result in Him, appearing weaker or him losing. But, Satan was stupid enough to make a bet with God, which he surely knew wasn t going to

This part of the story is what I think of as the most important. Job, just because he was righteous, thought that he didn t deserve to have anything bad happen to him. God made a point in the story when he chose Job as the object of His bet. Not only did God prove something to Satan, but to Job as well. I think Job put it best when he said With nothing from the ground I came, and with nothing I shall return. In conclusion, I think it important to acknowledge how strong Job ... • 12. History of American Poetry At its beginning, American poetry was extremely influenced by its European roots. This is evidenced by the fact that the first colonists were English, who also brought along their poetic styles and patterns. These European traits set the standard for the genesis of American poetry, which will later we further developed and adapted by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson, who are now considered to be the first great American poets. Because of the strong ties to European poetry, American poets wanted to distinguish themselves from their origins and began their crusade to build a new foundation for American poetry. Therefore, the 19th century began with high hopes for poetic accomplishment. The first comprehensive anthologies of American poetry appeared in the 1820s, 1830s, and 1840s. In the first half of the century poets sought to entertain, to inform, and to put into memorable language America s history, myths, manners, and topography, but they did not seek to forge a radical new poetic tradition. Their poetry built upon tradition, and they met the first great goal of American poetry: that it be able to compete in quality, intelligence, and breadth with British poetry. • 13. Enuma Elish And Genesis Analysis The world humans inhabit is a messy place filled with chaos and uncertainty. In attempting to understand human life in this world, creation stories are helpful since they provide explanations to the mysteries of life such as good and evil. Two examples of creation myths are Enuma Elish and Genesis 1 4, which both detail the formation of the humanworld. However, Genesis is better for understanding human life because it details the beginnings of human life, not just the creation, and the origins of good and evil. Moreover, the origins of good and evil in Genesis are more like what humans encounter in the world. In Genesis 1 4, three stories are told in which human life can be understood. Explain The Potential Difficulties Of The Lambing Process Potential Difficulties of the Lambing Process The lambing process is a natural procedure that usually can take place without assistance however, when breeding, it is helpful to know about it so that if needed you can help and successfully deliver the lamb. Out of the caesareans, 2 ewes died from illnesses they were exposed to in the unnatural process whereas only one of the ewes passed during delivery. Consequences And Implications For The Globalization Of Crime 1)Held, describes globalisation as the growing interconnectedness of states and societies and the progressive enmeshment of human communities with each other (Held,2000) over the last few centuries, human communities have come into increasing contact with each other; their collective fortunes have become intertwined (ibid) His definition is useful because it points to the long history of the globalising processes. Globalisation also has consequences that come along with its growth and interconnectedness, Held et al claimed that there had been a globalisation of crimedue to the increasing interconnectedness of crime across national borders. Globalisation aids in creating new opportunities for crime and new means of committing crime and new offences for example various cyber crimes. A principal driver that can be identified to explain globalisations acceleration in the last few decades is technology. Information and communication technology has allowed international trade and finance to become despatialised to a large extent (J. Firstly Phaedra s feelings where controlled by a powerful and vengeful God, Phaedra had no choice in the feelings she felt for Hippolytus, and the God had made them so strong that she could almost not control them. She had started to starve herself out to protect her name, and the name of her children. Organizations use pay strategies to assist in the administration of compensation plans. The use of a formal pay strategy allows the assessment and grouping of similar jobs together. Global employers follow different pay strategies because pay strategies are profoundly influenced by different factors such as culture, social contracts, labor relations and management practice. Night after night, the chickens cowered in fear as hungry predators circled their coop searching for ways to get at them. By day, my wife and I mended holes in the fencing and set traps, but in the end, there was nothing we could do to save them. It s hard to admit, but we were simply outwitted by a craftier, more relentless, superior intelligence. The varmints that struck down our chickens one by one could have taught Colonel Sanders a thing or two about finger licking good. Like any instrument, each one produces a different sound. Some may sound light like a snare, deep like a bass, or metronomic by simply producing a clicking noise to keep count. Some are completely electronic, even. • 27. Analysis Of Emily Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway Virginia Woolf s writing pattern is beautifully interwoven in and out of the thoughts of each character. She has the ability to portray random, yet structured working of the mind giving the reader a sense of mental time. The past, present, and future are constantly intertwining, which allows the reader to enter different frames in Mrs. Dalloway s life in such a short period of time. This method draws a connection with how people think, feel, and dream in all different directions. Instead of following a basic plot, Woolf expresses a certain point of view in Mrs. Dalloway by digging inside the minds of each character. She constantly uses stream of consciousness, which gives insight for the different characters. These moments of memories and presentsituations allow the reader to develop a full understanding of Clarissa s character in only a single day. Woolf successfully illustrates how time can sufficiently reveal one s character, but in particular uses Clarissa to show that it is impossible to escape the pastbecause of the present reality of time constantly on her shoulders. Woolf presents time in the novel as being sporadic. People tend to imagine time as progressing steadily like a second hand on a clock, but it is much more than that. In Social Context of Rural Women with HIV/AIDS, authors Kenneth D. Phillips, Linda Moneyham, Sandra P. Mr Wilson Vs Macomber Essay Hemingway uses his art of perspective in The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , to show the negative characteristics of the characters Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Macomber, and Mr. Macomber. These negative effects give an unwelcome and pervasive feeling to the story. To begin, Hemingway portrays the character of Mr. Wilson as a judgmental and arrogant professional in this short story. His judgmental views on Mr. and Mrs. Macomber also help to develop their characters as well as his. Wilson thinks to himself, So he s a bloody four letter man as well as a bloody coward, he thought. This shows she is not only unfaithful but also unfair to her husband. With the perspective from Hemingway, we see this through the narrator how she does not treat Mr. Macomber fairly. In the second half of the story, Mrs. Macomber just leaves Mr. Macomber and does not question her actions. Mr. Macomber is beginning to realize what she is doing. Mr Macomber turned back to where Wilson sat in the rear seat of the doorless, box bodied motor car beside his wife, them both grinning with excitement. It is not right for Mrs. Macomber to sit with the tour guide, Mr. Wilson, instead of her husband. This shows her being unfaithful to Mr. Macomber and it only continues to happen more and more. WIth the perspective of Mr. Macomber, we see that Mrs. Macomber and Mr. Wilson have something going on together and Mrs. Macomber is being unfaithful. One of Descartes main reasons for the existence of God is that, God put the idea of himself in Descartes head Hence there remains only the idea of God, concerning which we much consider whether it is something which cannot have proceeded from me myself, (Third Meditation, pg 16). Aquinas Five Ways are trying to prove the existence of God to others, while Descartes is trying to prove the existence of God to himself. The major premises in Descartes Third Meditation are his degrees of reality principle and his causal adequacy principle. Descartes degrees of reality come from his ideas of more or less real, things can fall under properties being less real, like colors, to finite substances, to infinite substances being the most real, like God But I understand God to be actually infinite, so that he can add nothing to His supreme perfection (Third Meditation, pg 17). Something like a table can be a finite substance but the color of the table, its brownness, is something considered to be less real to Descartes, a less real property. ABC provides a path to assign the overhead to the product requiring the overhead. In the above scenario, 75% of the production efforts are for product A, so 75% of the overhead can be assigned to product A. Activity based costing attempts to overcome the perceived deficiencies in traditional costing methods by more closely aligning activities with products. This requires abandoning the traditional division between product and period costs, instead seeking to find a more direct linkage between activities, costs, and products (Walther, 2010). ABC is very beneficial to organizations that produce many products. ABC applies all costs (direct and indirect) to a product s cost. To apply the principles of ABC, and organization must first gather all of the available cost information for the organization. Once this is complete, the organization must identify activities. This is an important step because too many activities will become too large an undertaking to manage while too few will not yield the desired results. Once the activities are identified, the organization must identify traceable costs. These are costs that can be directly related to a product. At this point, one must assign the remaining costs.
