Introductory. Something That Humans All Have In Common,
Introductory Something that humans all have in common, is aging. Every single one of us ages
and as we age a lot of us get to have a friend along the way. That friend is aching pain. This aching
pain can stem from a certain disease, named osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common
rheumatic disease, primarily affecting the articular cartilage and the subchondral bone of a synovial
joint, eventually resulting in joint failure. (Fransen, 2015) Chances are that someone close to you
has osteoarthritis as it is a very prevalent chronic disease. Living with a chronic disease does not
bring much joy and preventative measures can be taken to avoid the pain or interventions can be
used to make the pain bearable. Some interventions that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exercise is something that can easily be taught to patients and nurses have the prime opportunity
to educate patients that are at risk or have osteoarthritis before they need a joint replacement
surgery. Mobility is a huge part of each individual s life and joints play a crucial role in one s
mobility. When a joint s function decreases a person s mobility, many other things are at risk to
decrease as well such as skin integrity and the cardiovascular system. As a nurse, it is important to
treat patients holistically and when one part is not functioning, such as the joint, it is our job to
bring function back to improve one s health overall.
Methods
Many of the studies reviewed followed similar methods to collecting data related to exercise and
knee osteoarthritis. There were many systematic reviews that supported this PICO question and
determined whether land based therapeutic exercise is beneficial for people with knee
osteoarthritis in terms of reduced joint pain or improved physical function and quality of life. All
of the studies had searched various databases, which included, MEDLINE, EMBASE, The
Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), the Cumulative Index to Nursing and
Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Google
scholar and OpenGrey. Randomized control trials were put to use and

The Power Of Religion By Chinua Achebe
The Power of Religion
A religion to some is the basic world views for a person, to some it is the basic behaviors and
practices and to others it is an order of existence. Throughout history, the world has witnessed a
religions power to guide a society, but many have also witnessed a religion destroy a society as
well. Within the novel Things Fall Apartby Chinua Achebe, the world witnesses many religions,
for example the Ibo religion and Christianity. We are able to get a delightful insight on their ways
of functioning and beliefs. For the durations of the book, we observe the destructive power of
religion. Religion can absolutely destroy a society and break it into pieces because religion creates
fear within the people who follow it, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This fear does not allow people to do things they want and is against the basic fundaments of a
healthy society. In a healthy society, people would be free to go outside during night and kids
would be free to whistle. If these fears do not change, then the society will be destroyed because
freedom is a basic necessity for a health society. Continuing on, another example of fear being
fabricated in the minds of the people is during the appearance of the ancestral spirit, during the
funeral of Ezeudu. The ancestral spirits have a sickly odor hung in the air wherever he went,
and flies went with him. Even the greatest medicine men took shelter, when he was near. (122).
The Ibo religion once again is able to fabricate fear into the minds of its followers. The religion
places a fear of ancestral spirits thus making the society sacred of walking around during the
appearance of spirits, which once again violates the freedom of the people. If a religion is
implementing fear within the society, it is slowly killing itself because people deserve freedom.
Fear leads to destruction. In addition, a religion can unquestionably destroy a society due to class
divisions. Osu s are the outcast of the Ibo religion. An osu [can] not attend an assembly of the free
born and they, in turn, [can] not shelter under his roof (156). With a religion like Ibo creating class
divisions, it

Mri Of The Knee Ligament Tear
MRI of the knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear
Introduction
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is an important structure in maintaining the normal
biomechanics of the knee and is the most commonly injured knee ligament. ACL tears may be
partial or complete. A partial tear can involve both or only a single bundle to varying degree, can
range from a minor tear involving just a few fibers to a high grade near complete tear involving
almost all of the ACL fibers.
Anatomy and physiology
The ACL originates from the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and runs superiorly,
laterally, and posteriorly toward its insertion on the lateral femoral condyle. Together with the
posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), the ACL guides the instantaneous center of rotation of the knee,
therefore controlling joint kinematics. To a lesser degree, the ACL checks extension and
hyperextension. The ACL is not as strong as the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and it is less
strong at its femoral origin than at its tibial insertion. Muscles surrounding the knee joint contribute
to knee stabilization during lower extremity movements.
Mechanism of injury
Mechanisms of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury are numerous. These injuries plague both
athletes and non athletes. ACL injury is most prevalent (1 in 1,750 persons) in patients 15 45
years of age. It is more common in this age group in part because of their more active lifestyle as
well as higher participation in sports.

Kardashian Family Research Paper
The internet is perhaps one of mankind s greatest milestones. It connects people from all over the
world, thus eradicating traditional boundaries of land and sea. Along with this connectivity comes
the availability of information and instant communication. This sort of digitalization of human
interaction is evident in social media websites like Facebook. People are able to communicate
with each other and share aspects of their lives constantly. A popular form of self expression
present across all social media platforms is the selfie : an informal photograph of oneself taken by
that person either with a front facing camera or other form of unprofessional photography. It has

They catapulted into the spotlight because of a sex tape (McClain 10) then went on to star in their
own reality show that chronicled their transgressions, conflicts, extravagant vacations, and short
lived marriages (McClain 5) which allowed them to cement their position in television, media, and
American culture itself. In her book analyzing the Kardashian empire, Amanda Scheiner McClain
describes their ubiquity and what they represent: The Kardashians are more than just a reality TV
show: they are a contemporary cultural touchstone, recognizable throughout the world; connoting
warrantless celebrity, voluptuous beauty, and flash in the pan marriage (McClain 1). In fact, the
popularity of their show says more about society than the Kardashian themselves. There is a
sense of fascination and perhaps envy prevalent in the Kardashian s popularity. People watch
because in a way they are vicariously living and experiencing a life of luxury through the
Kardashians. The Kardashians represent an aspect of American culture that is materialistic,
excessive, and superficial. While the show itself warrants discussion on its own, it is family
member s activity on social media that will be discussed throughout this essay. While they are
most active on major social media platforms like Twitter, their activity on the photo application
Instagram will be the prime example since Kim ranks as its most popular user with over 27 million
followers, and other family members like Kendall, Kyle, Khloe, and Rob claiming third, fifth,

Naturalism Vs Supernaturalism
Gary complains that my definition of weak naturalism is narrow, and then proceeds to conflate that
definition with naturalism, claiming I equivocate. Allow me then to clarify so that any further
discussion can be clear. My claim that As far as we know, the natural world is all there is, is not,
pace Gary s claim, a knowledge claim about fundamental reality. It is agnostic about fundamental
reality. This is a crucial distinction, as Gary is at pains to maintain the position of false equivalence
between weak naturalism and supernaturalism. My position clearly states as far as we know ,
thereby delineating a point beyond our current level of knowledge (know). Weak naturalism does
not enter this unknown country, rather it maintains that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples of where I had previously used weak naturalism to posit a prima facie case for
naturalism, provide no contradiction or suggestion that my definition of weak naturalism is
anything less than clear. Ie. Naturalism makes a knowledge claim about fundamental reality
whereas weak naturalism does not. Gary appears to think I was arguing that naturalism can be
proven from premises that (1) nature exists; and (2) there is no evidence of a supernatural reality)
that nature is all there is (which, of course, does not follow) . My essay argued that there was a
false equivalence between the two metaphysical views, not that I considered naturalism proven by
the limits of our knowledge. In any case, making a straw man of my claims does nothing to
substantiate claims of a supernatural realm. To refute weak naturalism the supernaturalist needs to
provide positive evidence of a supernatural world. It is not sufficient to present semantic
disagreement on what the terms mean or to attempt to puncture weak naturalism by conflating and
straw manning the concept. It is trivially true that the world exists, and undoubtedly true that we
have no compelling evidence of a world beyond. The question is: what sort of evidence would be
adequate to refute weak naturalism? And by degree, this question becomes, what quantum of
evidence would be sufficient

The Importance Of Dreams
Dreams have been a mystery of the human mind since the beginning of time. Their purpose and
importance to our lives varies depending on where you go for information, but it is clear that
dreams are something that come along with being human. According to the theory of Sigmund
Freud, dreams are a way for our mind to process the things we are feeling in the form of symbolism
(Freud 350). While many brush off their dreams as simply a way for their brain to relieve stress
and process the previous day, there is a large percentage of people who believe that their dreams are
a message, or a warning, from the beyond.
In Medieval times, one of the most common beliefs about dreams was that they were used as the
primary way in which higher powers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miracles and dream visions are often paired together in the Christian faith, specifically inside of the
Catholic denomination. According to the information that I found, they call these visions private
revelations. Even though they accept the idea that a Christian can be exposed to a vision, they are
quick to distinguish the difference between private revelation and magic. This is confirmed in a
direct quote from the Global Catholic Network, which says Alleged revelations which propose to
improve upon, correct or entirely supplant Public Revelation are rejected by the Church as
inauthentic, regardless of the claims made for them. Such revelations include those of Mohammed
in the Koran, Joseph Smith in the Book of Mormon, the writings of new age mystics, psychics and
the like (Donovan, Apparitions/Private Revelations).
Another well known dream vision is Caedmon s Hymn, which was written by Bede. Caedmon s
Hymn is about a vision from God that changes a man s entire life around. Caedmon is not much
help in his church community, because he cannot sing praises. Caedmon is so distraught by this
on one occasion that he runs away to the stables and falls asleep. During his slumber, Caedmon
dreams that God asks him to sing. Caedmon sings the most beautiful and poetic song about
creation, and remembers every line when he awakes. He promptly goes and tells everyone he
knows, and becomes revered by the church

which other states or districts could the court have proper jurisdiction over Wal Mart and Smith

doing so would deprive them of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. Due process
requires notice and that the defendant is constitutionally and statutorily amenable to trial. In order
to be statutorily amendable, one must examine the state s long arm statutes, which authorize courts

The History Of Scarlet Fever
Due to the description of the disease, Scarlet fever seems to have been dated back almost 2,500
years even back to the time of Hippocrates. Supposedly there has been 3 major epidemics of
Scarlet Fever. The first uncontested account of scarlet fever came in 1553 similar to measles,
diphtheria and other rashes however some say it was seen as early as 430 B.C. Scarlet fever
brought about a death rate then as high as one hundred and fifty out of one hundred thousand,
which is a very morbid death rate. Professor John Ingrassia described this disease as numerous
spots ranging large and small, fiery and red, of universal distribution, so that the whole body seems
on fire, some there are who think that measles is the same as Rossalia; another name

Beowulf and Gilgamesh
Comparative English Essay
Compare the Beowulf poet s presentation of the battles with Grendel and his mother with the
Gilgamesh poet s depiction of Gilgamesh battles with Huwawa and the Bull of Heaven.
Fame and glory have been the most admirable characteristics in the middle Ages and even before
Christ in the ancient civilizations. The epics of Gilgamesh and Beowulf are stories of heroism and
immortality gained through fame. The aim of the main characters, Beowulf and Gilgamesh, is to
be a good warrior by being courageous, respectful and prudent, a protector and servant to their king
(only in the beginning of Beowulf, as he later becomes king and Gilgamesh already is) and their
country. In both poems the fights of the main characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enkidu and Gilgamesh can only win against nature and even gods by cooperating, which again is a
sign of culture. It shows us that a civilization can withstand everything and even fight the Gods
plans.
In the Beowulf poem the battle scenes are described more vividly descriptive and including a lot
of symbolism. The first fight is between Beowulf and Grendel, a fiend out of hell, [В…] grim
demon haunting the marches, marauding round the heath and the desolate fens; he had dwelt for
a time in misery among the banished monsters, Clain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed and
condemned as outcasts. (p. 6) Beowulf sets out to kill this monster in order to achieve fame. He
isn t forced to do so, especially as Grendel doesn t attack the Geats (his clan) but the Danes.
Nevertheless Beowulf settles out to destroy the demon and declares that he will fight Grendel there
is a feast: Now I mean to be a match for Grendel, settle the outcome in single combat. (p. 15)
Afterwards there is a feast in Hereot and at dusk Beowulf prepares for the fight and awaits
Grendel s attack. Then down the brave man lay with his bolster under his head and his whole
company of sea rovers at rest beside him. Beowulf s companions stay at his side and this is a
symbol for their closed circle of society. The Germanic culture is based on the

Mental Disorders And The United States
Mental disorders affect many people throughout the United States. Although it is not a direct link to
criminal behavior, it is a major risk factor and oftentimes criminal offenders are found to have them.
Mental disorders cause their victims delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and aggression. The
definition of mental disorder is a vast number of mental conditions, ranging from the mild to the
serious that impede one s ability to function. Sometimes with the more serious disorders may
absolve an individual of criminal responsibility (Bartol, A Bartol, C, 2014). There are several
different kinds of mental disorders including but not limited to schizophrenia, psychopathy,
depressive disorders, and antisocial personality disorder(Bartol, A Bartol, C, 2014). In this paper,
each different kind of mental disorder will be discussed along with the discussing the fallacy of
the public believing that many people get off with the not guilty by reason of insanity plea. It is
hypothesized that individuals who display mental disorders are at a greater risk to commit
criminal offenses. The literature reviews that follow describe each type of mental disorder and
types of crimeas a result of them. They will also describe the not guilty by reason of insanity plea.
Schizophrenia crime There are several different subtypes of schizophrenics which include the
disorganized type, catatonic type, paranoid type, undifferentiated type, and the residual type. Of all

In 2003 the USA attacked Iraq. Washington s official account of the reasons to invade Iraq was
centred on the argument that Iraq is a threat to its neighbours as well as to the USA. This was
due to Iraq supposedly having WMDs and seeking for nuclear weapons and Saddam being
unpredictable and irrational actor. Furthermore, it was argued that Saddam supports terrorists and
could give WMDs to them. It was USA s mission to bring democracy and freedom to the Iraqi
people (Hudson, 2005: 298 299). Some scholars support the official account as the real reason for
the invasion, but there are many critical scholars. Some of them advance the theory that behind the

In the same speech he promised the continuation of war on terror (Bush, 2002). It was stressed by
Condoleezza Rice, who was the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, that Iraq
was unwilling to cooperate with the UN inspectors and that Iraq was lying about its assumed
WMDs (Rice, 2002). Bush, Rice and other members of the administration made clear that Iraq
was dangerous because of its WMDs and therefore Iraq should be invaded. It was also stated in the
Joint Resolution that authorised the war that Iraq had WMDs, seeked nuclear weapons and was a
threat to the USA (H.R.J. Res. 114, 2002).
However, if WMDs and noncooperation with UN inspectors made Iraq such a huge threat, it has
to be asked why Egypt and Israel, for example, were not attacked. For example, Israel has not
ratified the Nonproliferation Treaty or the 1972 biological and toxic weapons convention and Egypt
has not signed the Chemical Weapons Convention (Hubbel, 1998). Moreover, in general, it is not
only Saddam Hussein who has murdered thousands and defied UN resolutions. The USA, however,
is not seriously planning to attack those other states (Mearsheimer and Walt, 2003).
David Dunn argues that this is, when it comes to North Korea, because the administration believes
that North Korea is militarily strong enough to deter the USA, but Iraq is not and Iraq has to be
stopped before it is, too. (Dunn, 2003: 286) Even if this was true for all the states in the

The Fall of Constantinople
The fall of Constantinople in 1453 was one of the most influential events in history and marked the
end of the Byzantine Empire. The main effect of the fall of Constantinople in 1453 was the
downfall of the Byzantine Empire and the rise of the Ottoman Empire. The city was mainly
populated by Christians and now has become an Islamic city. The capture of Constantinople stated
the end of the Roman Empire, which lasted for about one thousand five hundred years. The
invasion of the city of Constantinople and the end of the Byzantine Empiremarked the end of the
Middle Ages.
The downfall of Constantinople was one of the greatest fortified cities in the world. The Fall of
Constantinople was the takeover of the capital of the Byzantine Empire, and happened after an
attack by the Ottoman Empire against the defending army. The commander of the attack by the
Ottoman Empire was Emperor Constantine XI. It all began when Constantine found a new capital
at the Bosporus, which he named Constantinople. Sultan Mehmed II, ruler of the Ottoman Turks,
was the leader of the assault. The city of Constantinople was defeated by around ten thousand men.
On the opposing side, the Turks had between one hundred thousand and one hundred fifty thousand
men on their side with the advantage. This battle and attack lasted for fifty days. The Turks used
huge cannons to destroy the walls and warships were used by the Turks as well.
Around October 1448 Constantine had begun to show the qualities and

I applaud Holland s role as Peter Parker because he could be a lazy student and at the same time,
a great hero who could save the city. It had some entertaining actions which won t lead the
audience to be bored. Their all act naturally. They have the facial expression that is right for the
character they are portraying. The plot have some great twists which we never knew would
happen or would even shock us like Adrian Toomes being revealed as Liz s father. These special
effects even made the movie more interesting and colorful. In terms of script, those were so
hilarious. They minimized saying foul words. They said the script clearly so that we could
understand what they are saying. Overall, I give the movie a 4 stars over 5. This is one the best
movies I have ever watched in cinemas. From start to finish, it was hilarious. From Peter Parker s

Arriving at the private clinic just North of Holby, Serena sat nervously in the passenger s seat.
She luckily had the rest of the day off as she was only working the morning clinic; Ric on the
other hand had escaped work for an hour to accompany his girlfriend. Ric had not disclosed why
he had to take some time away, just that it lay personal. Despite saying that they would talk
things over the following morning, they failed to follow through. Serena put up her defences;
she decided there was nothing to talk about until they had the facts. This had left them with
nothing but a four day wait to see Obs Gynae Consultant Michael Reid. Yet, it started to become
more apparent that Serena found herself with child. Heartburn had become an issue, and Serena
developed a taste for Donner Kebab something she only ever recalled eating as a University

the craving kicked in from nowhere. Tiredness kicked in, hitting her like a wave, she woke up

Analysis Of Howard Zinn s Historian As Citizen
The essay Historian as Citizen by Howard Zinn presents a call to action for historians everywhere.
To start, he analyzes the delicate need for balance that comes with studying history, how historians
can use patterns of the past to judge contemporary events, but must not overlook the universe of
tricks outside that realm. Next, he argues we must also transcend the present and act as if we are
freer than logic may suggest. Finally, Zinn delves into the negative aspects of society s long
established blame game and submits his proposed solution. Through this text, Zinn seeks a drastic
shift in focus from antiquity to activism for historians to stop merely scrutinizing old facts but
instead use them as tools with which to examine human nature and build a better tomorrow. The
strengths of Historianas Citizen lie in Zinn s practicality. For example, one of the things he
advocates for is acting in spite of oppressive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He writes, It is risky to act as if we are free, but (unless one is content with things as they are) it is
just as risky to act as if we are bound, and there is even less chance of reward (Zinn 45). This lays
out the options, plain and simple. One can either act and have a chance at improving quality of life,
or not act and depend completely on the even more unlikely case of outside intervention. This
points out that surrendering to logic in the face of weighty obstacles and giving up is in fact
illogical. Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of searching within. Zinn points out, When
the United States defines the Soviet sphere as totalitarian and the West as free, it becomes difficult
for Americans to see totalitarian elements in our society (Zinn

Conservation And Management Of Wildlife
Executive summary
The Greatness of nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated
Mahatma Gandhi
Unfortunately, we often hear the news about the illicit wildlife trafficking or illegal wildlife trade.
Wildlife seems to be traded all around us. It is used not only as pets and trophies but also for food,
leather, home decorations and medical purposes.
Wildlife is an important part of ecological community as it plays an important role in the
environment. I know that conservation and management of wildlife is a very complex issue, but to
save wildlife, we should take some positive actions, which requires changes in our life style and
changes in our general way of thinking so that the future generations of both wildlife and human
can enjoy it.
Any actions threatening wildlife and its habitat must be banned right now.

Today more and more wildlife is becoming extinct or in danger of extinction for various reasons.
There are different types of wildlife exploitation, with varying effects on the welfare of the animals

because we re going through this poem line by line. Lines 1 2 She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies; * An unnamed woman walks in beauty. This is an odd way
of saying that she s beautiful, isn t it? Walk[ing] in beauty makes her beauty seem more dynamic
as though it s partly her movement and the spring in her step that make her beautiful. She s not
just a pretty face in a portrait; it s the whole living, breathing, walk[ing] woman that s beautiful. *
Her beauty is compared to night. This seems strange night is dark, right? Aren t beautiful women
usually compared to a summer s day ? (That would be Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, in case you were
wondering). * But the featured woman isn t just compared to any night, she s compared to a
night in a place where there are no clouds and lots of stars. We suppose that means she has a very
clear and lovely complexion? Or perhaps being cloudless has more to do with her personality her
conscience might be as clear as a cloudless sky. * You see starry skies at night, but the brightness
of the stars relieves the darkness of the night. This is the first hint of a contrast between light and
dark in the poem. * There s some pretty sweet alliteration in these lines. You might want to head

The Great Cat Massacre Analysis
Overall, the argument of The Great Cat Massacre was that a historian could use the writings of a
particular point in history to determine the psychology of the people of that time. In this case, it
was of the French people in the decades before the French Revolution. Like Natalie Zemon Davis,
Darnton claimed he had the ability to know the mental landscape of the people he studied,
understanding their motives based on the few words that were placed before him. But is this
determination of a people s mindset possible? How much of the catmassacre was Darnton s
thoughts and beliefs and how much were of the people he was studying? The truth is that there is
no way of knowing what is history and what is Darnton s perception of history. Like Davis,
Darnton ran the fine line of telling history as it was, and using that history to support his own
beliefs and opinions, and the critics, as before, had a problem with this practice.
Roger Chartier, in his article Text, Symbols, and Frenchness, began his argument with the belief
that Darnton gave the incident of the cat massacre too many levels of meaning. How could this one
act be a statement about the treatment of the workers, the practice of witchcraft, the cuckolding of
a husband, and a critique of the new lifestyles of the masters all at one time? Chartier starts his
argument against this interpretation by criticizing Darnton s use of a modern definition of symbol.
Chartier believed that, anyone concerned primarily with

Osteoarthritis And Rheumatoid Arthritis
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the health topic of arthritis. Firstly, the different types of
arthritis are discussed, with definitions given for two of the more common forms, Osteoarthritis and
Rheumatoid Arthritis. This will be followed by a discussion about assessment tools that have been
developed to help those with rheumatoid arthritis.
There are many different types of arthritis. These include: Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis,
Fibromyalgia, Psoriatic Arthritis, Juvenile Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Gout, Polymyalgia
Rheumatic and Lupus (Arthritis Ireland).
Definitions
Osteoarthritis (OA)
According to Arthritis Ireland, the most common type of arthritis is osteoarthritis. Symptoms of
this occur gradually and these symptoms can affect different joints in the body. Yet, the cause is
unknown but it is generally known as Wear and tear arthritis . Symptoms of osteoarthritis will vary
from person to person. Symptoms can vary from being subtle and barely noticeable to becoming
worse in the space of a months.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease. The cause of this type of arthritis causes ...

The Guilt Of Murder In Edgar Allen Poe s Tell-Tale Heart
When people commit murder, they try to justify their actions with logical reasons for doing so.
However, if the reasons are not valid, they try to convince themselves that they are. The short story
Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe describes the actions of an unknown narrator who cunningly
murders an elderly man at midnight because of his vulture eye. The narrator recounts the
confidence in his finesse of the concealment of the body until he hears the first unperceived
thumping of the dead man s heart, driving him to confess to the police. His frantic attempts to
convince the reader of his justification of the murderand that he is not insane creates suspense that

One might object here that the narrator lacked the mental capacity to distinguish right from
wrong. The claim of mental insanity could be supported by the narrator s abnormal hearing of
the dead old man s heart thumping. ...but the noise arose over all and continually increased. It
grew louder louder louder! (Poe). It is correct that normal people do not hear dead people s hearts
beating, however, what he likely heard was the sound of his own heart ringing loudly in his ears
due to his guilty conscience.
The various instances where the narrator described how afraid he felt when staring at the man s
vulture eye specifies that he indeed did have a motive to kill the old man. In the beginning, he
stated that he cared for the old man, but his eye that resembled a vulture frightened him. ...his
blood ran cold (Poe). His obvious discomfort and contempt when looking at the eye irked him so
much that he killed the elderly man to purge the mere thought of the evil eye from his mind. To
add on, every night for eight nights, he would sneak into the old man s room to wait for the
quintessential time to commit the final deed of killing him. However, the narrator had to wait
several days to strike because as the old man was sleeping, his eye was not open and his eye was
the true object that vexed him. ...but I found the eye always closed...it was impossible to do the
work (Poe). On the eighth night, the old man heard a noise, making

Legal Representation In Court Cases
As the need for legal representation continues to grow across all segments of our population,
new and innovative types of legal representation have developed. Limited scope representation,
or discrete task representation, allows an attorney to represent a person only in agreed upon
portions of his or her legal case. California Rule of Court 3.35 specifically defines limited scope
representation as a relationship between an attorney and a person seeking legal services in which
they have agreed that the scope of the legal services will be limited to the specific tasks that the
attorney will perform for the person. This method of legal representation provides not only a way
for individuals to decrease their legal costs, but also to exert greater control over and... Show more

For instance, in a divorce, an individual might hire a California family law attorney on a limited
scope basis to handle the property division aspects of a divorce, such as the division of a spouse
s pension. However, the individual might decide to handle all of the other aspects of the divorce
himself or herself, such as custody, visitation and child support, particularly if the parties are
already in agreement on those issues. Not every type of legal matter is suitable for limited scope
representation. Some legal issues tend to be extremely complex and necessitate a degree of
expertise that only an attorney can offer. The types of cases that traditionally work well with
limited scope representation include family law matters, landlord tenant disputes, and certain
consumer advocacy cases. By engaging an attorney on a limited scope, an individual who

Blood Disorders
Blood is one of the most essential elements within the body. Blood is made up of plasma, red
blood cells, and platelets. Blood is vital to the body functioning correctly, and it is important to
understand that there are many types of blood disorders that can cause people to get sick. While
there are many different types of blood disorders out there, this paper is going to cover three
which are, anemia, sickle cell, and thrombocytopenia. Also, a review of plasma, red blood cells,

Sickle cell anemia is a genetically transmitted disorder marked by episodes of painful crisis,
severe hemolytic anemia, and increased susceptibility to infections. This disorder usually affects
African American (Zelman, Tompary, Raymond, Holdaway, amp; Mulvihill, 2010) Since this
disorder is inherited and affects African American this puts Davon at a higher risk. Sickle cell
anemia can be diagnosed by having a genetic testing and blood test. Some symptoms of this
disorder are pain crisis, fatigue, splenic sequestration, bacterial infections, shortness of breath, and
eye damages. Some treatments for sickle cell anemia are supportive therapy during the crisis,
blood transfusions, and prevention of sickle cell crisis. Since this is an inherited disorder, there is
no prevention. This blood disorder is usually diagnosed in childhood and persists throughout a
person s life ( Mayo Clinic , 2015).
The last scenario and blood disorder is Spencer, who over the past several weeks is having more
bruises, or ecchymosis, all over his body. After coughing this morning, Spencer noticed tiny red
marks all around his eyes. Spencer is showing signs of thrombocytopenia. Thrombocytopenia is a
condition of the blood in which the blood doesn t clot properly because there are not enough
platelets. This condition can be caused by many different things such as decreased platelet
production, increased platelet

Further, performance measures should be explicitly linked via a strategy map of hypothesized cause
and effect relationships that depict the firm s strategy (Kaplan and Norton 2000; 2004).
Improvements in measures of organizational capabilities are expected to drive improvements in the
execution of internal processes which in turn lead to customer and financial outcomes. In this way,
the balanced scorecard framework explicitly recognizes interrelationships between strategy specific
measures of financial and customer outcomes and inputoriented performance drivers related to the
firm s internal processes and organizational capabilities. However, managers must formulate
strategies, and select related objectives and measures, based on exante expectations about how the
strategy will translate into financial performance. Thus, the strategic objectives and performance
measures chosen for an organization s scorecard are often based on uncertain hypotheses about how
measured performance against these objectives ultimately leads to financial performance.
Proponents of the balanced scorecard concept have long recognized this uncertainty. To mitigate
against it, and as a mechanism for strategic feedback and learning, they have

Meursault In The Stranger, By Albert Camus
A person who is able to kill another human being without any second thought to consequences is
one who lacks proper morals and can be labeled as a cruel and an easily triggered individual. In
Albert Camus The Stranger the main character Meursault comes off as cruel after killing an Arab
and then showing no remorse, yet despite the excessive gunshots Meursault fires, he cannot be
categorized as cruel as he does not have a violent background but merely as one who is
unconcerned with emotions. Meursault is a man who is unable to connect emotionwith the actions
that he takes and the consequences that follow, and if he were to have been enlisted in WWI he
would have been a very unstable and unreliable soldier due to many possibilities of unforeseen
events that could ensue while in combat.
For Meursault life decisions are based on what is most convenient to him, not based on emotions
that he may or may not feel. When Marie asks Meursault if he had any feelings of love towards
her he said that sort of question had no meaning (Camus 24) but that he probably didn t really feel

trenches was to be motivated above all by comradeship as they fought alongside friends and

need for companionship; Meursault would be able to rationalize that he had no benefit being a
soldier as he could be at home where he already had people to be with and a schedule that he could

The Music Of The Man Essay
When Jazz first appeared in the state of Louisiana, although it had African roots, it was highly
looked down upon. It was considered the music of the blacks , with a negative connotation and
was disregarded as being a music genre itself in comparison with classical and other types of
music. African Americans faced racism and prejudice for enjoying and being jazzmusicians,
however African Americanwomen also encountered bigotry, sexism and prejudice along with
racism. There were several female musicians, many of them very successful, but solely due to their
gender, they were undermined, mistreated, and were discriminated against in the field of jazz
music. In the beginning jazz was typically considered music of the man , it upheld a masculine and
suave front and it deemed inappropriate for women to be a part of it. Charles mentions in his article
on The Age of Jazzwomen, Male musicians dominated the jazz scene when the music first surfaced,
making it difficult for women to enter their ranks. The fraternity of jazzmen also frowned upon
women wind instrumentalists (Charles). This attitude disabled women to join groups or play
instruments of their choice. Their talents and love for the music was completely ignored due to the
fact that they were women. Valaida Snow a talented and reputable jazz musician and entertainer,
also called the Queen of the Trumpet went through a significantly high amount discrimination as
she traveled and toured with groups that included men.

Finally, I will draw the main conclusions from this project.
Simpson s rule
A way that we can see the trapezoidal (or midpoint) rule is that we approximate a function using a
first degree polynomial. Following this line of thinking we can say that by using Simpson s rule
we approximate a function using a second degree polynomial. In the graph here above f(x)
represents the function that we are trying to approximate
P(x) is the second degree polynomial that we use to approximate the function
The Simpson s rule can be derived in various ways described in the two following subsections.
First proof of Simpson s rule
(based on the proof in the book Calculus, Larson Hostetler Edwards s fifth edition)
∫_a^bв
–’в–€(f(x)dx=@ ) ∫_a^bв
–’гЂ–(AгЂ— x^2+Bx+C)dx
Integral is taken
∫_a^bв
–’в–€(f(x)dx=@ ) [(Ax^3)/3+(Bx^2)/2+C] x = b a
∫_a^bв
–’в–€(f(x)dx=[(A(b^3 a^3))/3+(Bг
Ђ–(bгЂ—^2 a^2))/2+C(b a)]@ )
By inverse distribution
∫_a^bв
–’f(x)dx=((b a)/6)[2A(a^2+ab+b^2 )+3B(b+a)+6C]
∫_a^bв
–’f(x)dx=((b a)/6)[(Aa^2+Ba+C)+4[A((b+a)/2)^2+B((b+a)/2)+C]+ (Ab^2+Bb+C)]
∫_a^bв
–’f(x)dx=((b a)/6)[f(a)+4f((b+a)/2)+f(b)]
To use Simpson s rule you divide the interval into n equal subintervals each of width ∆x=(b a)
/n. N is required to be even because for Simpson s rule we use coordinates to draw a polynomial
of the least degree to pass through. For a polynomial to be determined we need three coordinates,
we reuse the last coordinate of the previous polynomial to create our next one.

A firm s choice of investments are separate from its owner s attitudes towards the investments.
2. It is possible to separate a firm s investment decisions from the firm s financial decisions.
The first point means that the primary goal of any firm is to maximise its value, regardless of the
attitudes of the firms owners. The second point means that a firm s value is not determined by the
way it is financed or the dividends paid to the firm s owners.
Explain the concepts of business risk and financial risk. (/2010)
Business risk is the possibility that a company will have lower than anticipated profits, or that it will
experience a loss rather than a profit. Business risk is influenced by competition, economic climate,
government regulation amongst others. A company with a higher business risk should choose a
capital structure that has a lower debt ratio to ensure that it can meet its financial obligations at all

leverage ratio, financial leverage ratio and total leverage ratio.
Financial risk is the possibility that shareholders will lose money when they invest in a company
that has debt, if the company s cash flow proves inadequate to meet its financial obligations. When

Chapter 11 Analysis
After reading chapter 11 of our textbook, there were three important topics that stood out to me. The
first topic that I thought was interesting was the purposes of assessments. According to Carjuzaa
and Kellough, the purposes of assessments are for assisting student learning, identify students
strengths and weaknesses, assess the effectiveness of a particular instruction strategy, assess and
improve the effectiveness of curriculum programs, assess and improve teaching effectiveness, to
provide data in order to communicate with parents and guardians and to involve them in their
children s learning, and to provide data that assist in decision making about a student s future
(Carjuzaa Kellough, 2017, pg. 337 338). Assessing to identify strengths... Show more content on

The three stage process of assessing a student s achievement is diagnostic assessments, formative
assessment, and summative assessment. Diagnostic assessment is the assessment of the student s
knowledge and skills before the new instruction. Formative assessment is the assessment of learning
during the instruction and summative assessment is the assessment of learning after the instruction,
ultimately represented by the student s final term, semester, or year s achievement grade (Carjuzaa
Kellough, 2017, pg. 340). For example, in a physical education class, there can be a unit on golf and
the diagnostic assessment for this unit can be to have students try to hit the golf ball without any
instruction. This will give the PE teacher a great understanding of his or her students skill level.
Following that, the teacher will give lessons on different types of swings and throughout these
lessons, the teacher can provide formative assessments to check for understanding. At the very end
of the unit, the teacher can give a summative assessment to test everything the teacher covered
throughout the golf

Plain Gifford Research Paper
Plain Gifford, a Hall of Fame football player for the New York Giants and an unbelievable
supporter, kicked the bucket Sunday at his Connecticut home of characteristic causes, his family
declared. He was only seven days short of his 85th birthday. Gifford is made due, among others,
by his wife, TV character Kathy Lee Gifford. His family said in an announcement: We celebrate
in the phenomenal life he was favored to live, and we feel thankful and favored to have been
cherished by such an astounding person. Gifford was a No. 1 draft pick by the Giants in 1952
and appreciated a flexible vocation with New York, playing both offense and protection. He was
named NFL Player of the Year in 1956 and named to seven Pro Bowls for three distinct positions
guarded back, halfback and flanker.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Straight to the point s ability and charm on the field and reporting in real time were vital
components in the development and notoriety of the cutting edge NFL. In spite of the fact that
Gifford was the centerpiece of a Giants offense that went to five NFL title amusements in the
1950s and 60s, he encountered highs and lows as a NFL player. Gifford bungled twice ahead of
schedule in the 1958 NFL title diversion, both of which prompted Baltimore Colts touchdowns,
and later missed the mark on a basic third down. The Colts inevitably won 23 17 in the alliance s
first additional time diversion. The exciting completion helped promote the NFL and was named
The Greatest Game Ever Played, albeit not by Gifford. Not my most prominent amusement, Gifford
told the AP in 2008. I bungled going out (of the end zone) and I mishandled going

Chemical-Induced Toxicity
Chemical induced organ and tissue toxicity is a worldwide health concern. Liver toxicity, because
of the primary role of the liver in the metabolism, detoxification, and elimination of xenobiotics,
caused by the exposure to the growing number of chemical toxicants in the form of agricultural,
industrial, and pharmaceutical products and food components, additives, and contaminants is the
most common organ injury [1 3]. Toxicant associated liverinjury has been associated with a broad
spectrum of liver pathologies ranging from acute necrosis to several types of chronic pathological
states, including simple hepatic steatosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), toxic liver fibrosis,
and cirrhosis[1,3]. Furthermore, some toxicants may act as carcinogens causing the development of
cancer not only in the liver, but in other human organs and tissues as well [4,5]. This indicates that
detecting, evaluating, and predicting the potential human risk posed by chemicals continues to
remain of great importance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first approach is based on the use of the genomic technologies to discover sets of genes that
may be chemical specific and distinctive to organ injury [3,4,6]. The second approach is based on
identifying selective and sensitive biomarkers of toxicity. Each of these approaches has some
advantages and limitations; however, none of the recent biomarkers identified by either of these
two methodologies have been able to demonstrate enough specificity and sensitivity in detection of
liver

The Destructive Effects Of Iconoclasm During The Byzantine...
Makoto Emura 3/22/2015 The Destructive Effects of Iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire In
the 4th century, the Roman Empire underwent major changes, becoming the Byzantine Empire.
The Roman religion was replaced by Christianity, specifically the Eastern Orthodox Church, as the
new state religion. Artists helped to spread this new religion by building churches and producing
manuscripts. The artists imagined what religious figures looked like to portray them in art. But
the Church criticized the visual representation of figures at certain periods during the Byzantine
Era. Artists lost their creative freedom during these periods, called iconoclasm. The Early
Byzantine Era ended when the first iconoclasm occurred. One manuscript created during the Early
Byzantine Era was the Rossano Gospels (Image 1). The Rossano Gospels is written in Medieval
Greek during the 6th century, and was discovered in Rossano, Italy. The parchment medium was
colored slightly purple with a rare dye to proclaim the importance of the document. Over time, it
turned red. The document is big 12 x 10.5 inches. As an illuminated manuscript, it is filled with
colorful illustrations. Image 1 shows Christ in Washing of the Feet and Last Supper. The identity of
Christ is easily discernable with his clothes and the golden circle behind his head. To add even more
emphasis, everyone around is looking toward him. Below the illustration are four Old Testament
authors pointing up. The text below them explains what

Synopsis Of The Movie Baby Geniuses
Based on the movie Baby Geniuses , our team have come up with some supportive ideas by three
journals which are The Relative Effect Of Nature And Nurture Influences On Twin Differences by
Karl J. Holzinger, The Origins Of Intelligence In Children by Jean Piaget, and Relationship Among
Processing Speed, Working Memory, And Fluid Intelligence In Children by Astrid F. Fry and
Sandra Hale. The synopsis of the movie start with Dr. Elena Kinder, CEO of the BabyCo
Corporation, has formulated a method of child rearing which is the Kinder method meant to
produce exceptionally intelligent children. To demonstrate its superiority, she arranged for a pair of
identical twinboys to be born to a surrogate mother. One of these twins, Whit, was adopted by Dr.
Kinder s niece, Robin, and raised as a normal child.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

universe, both of which are forgotten when they separated from born. Both Dr. Kinder and
Robin are researching infant pre language. Sly wants to escape the lab and eventually succeeds,
making his way to a nearby mall. Dr. Kinder quickly sends out some of her subordinates to find
and retrieve him. The next day, however, Whit is taken to the mall and is accidentally captured
and taken to the lab in Sly s place, while Sly is taken back to Robin s house. At first, Dr. Kinder
is horrified when she discovers that she has Whit, not Sly, but then she decides it will be
beneficial to her plan and sends more goons to bring Sly back to the lab too. Whit and Sly organize

Compare And Contrast The Secret Sorrow And A Secret Sorrow
Compare and Contrast: Works of Sorrow Good literature, although hard to define, is most times
determined by whether a particular literary work is able to make one think or feel. A Secret
Sorrow written by Karen van der Zee, and ВЁA Sorrowful Woman,ВЁ written by Gail Godwin,
are two pieces of literature that are debatably good, by this definition. I personally believe that
ВЁA Sorrowful WomanВЁ was the better of the two due to its realism and thought provoking plot.
The first story, written by Karen, is very stereotypical, the plot being somewhat predictable and
the tone rather light. However, the second story, written by Gail, is quite the opposite; it takes on
a more realistic approach and holds a darker tone. The stories are those that greatly contrast each
other, their similarities almost completely lost to the dramatically different plots and tones. Yet,
three particular topics of interest within these conflicting stories that have both differences and
similarities are those of the female protagonists, children, and the overall tone of each story. To
start, between the two stories, the female protagonists are the factors that differ the most due to
the gender roles they accept. In A Secret Sorrow, Karen writes her female character into a
stereotypical role one would observe in any common fairy tale. The woman, being much younger
and smaller than her male partner, is described as being weak and cowardly like an animal. The
reader observes a lengthy portion of the story

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ultrasound
Ever since the beginning of medicine, diagnostic procedures were mainly invasive, meaning that the
patient was cut open, resulting in an excruciating amount of pain for the diagnosis of some simple
conditions, such as pneumothorax and appendicitis. This practice was usual for centuries up until
the early 20th century where the use of waves, electromagnetic or not, in medicine began.
One type of the waves used was the ultrasound wave. The ultrasound waves, are sound waves with
a frequency higher than that of the audible human hearing range (Rouse, What Is Ultrasound?
Definition from WhatIs.com ). The idea of first applying the ultrasound for medical diagnostic
purposes accord simultaneously in more than one country in the world, however the best
documented one was in 1957 in Glasgow, Scotland by the Scottish physician Professor Ian Donald
( The Development of Ultrasound ). Donald was inspired to pioneer the use of ultrasound waves in
medicine after seeing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ultrasound is an affordable cost efficient device and is environmentally friendly due to it being
non radiational, meaning that it is also safer for the patient and the staff. The disadvantages of
ultrasounds are that they are operator dependent which can hinder the diagnostic yield and the
sonographer requires years of experience.
Weighing both the positives and the negatives of the ultrasound all together, it has still made a
major breakthrough in the medical field. Where simple diagnostics can be carried out within a
couple of minutes making it time efficient not only for the doctor but for the patient too while also
being painless for the patient. This quality makes this device a must have device in every clinic and

Compare And Contrast Edmund Spenser And Sonnet 5
How does one gain immortality? According to Edmund Spenser (c. 1552 1599), William
Shakespeare (1564 1616) and Michael Drayton (1563 1631) you do it through poetry. In their
respective sonnets Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand), Sonnet 18 (Shall I
compare thee to a summer s day?) and Sonnet6 (How many paltry, foolish, painted things) they
each tackle the topic of living forever through writing. While all three of these sonnets share the
common subject matter of preserving someone through sonnets, do they present them in a similar
manner? What senses do each poet use to get his point across? That will be the point of discussion
in this essay, first looking at each of the sonnets separately and then comparing the different ways in
which they appeal to the senses.
Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand) is written in the
Spenserian sonnet form, with 14 lines brought together in 3 quartets and 1 couplet with a rhyming
pattern of ABABBCBCCDCDEE. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Shakespeare and Spenser have the conflict of the natural, with Spenser and the waves and
Shakespeare with the metaphorical changing of seasons. Drayton s conflict seems to be on a more
human level, as his focus is what women to come will think of his woman and how they will see
her as superior. Unlike Spenser who preserves the object of his sonnet through the dialogue,
Shakespeare preserves it through the visual imagery. Drayton also has a clear visual emphasis
throughout his sonnet, even though his language has an added pride and sense of superiority to it
that are not present in the others. While the object of his sonnet is their sex s only glory
(Drayton, line 12) there is little to describe the woman herself, and more as to how others shall
remember her in awe and how she will live on through his words. This sets Drayton s sonnet a bit
apart from the

  • 2. Introductory. Something That Humans All Have In Common, Introductory Something that humans all have in common, is aging. Every single one of us ages and as we age a lot of us get to have a friend along the way. That friend is aching pain. This aching pain can stem from a certain disease, named osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common rheumatic disease, primarily affecting the articular cartilage and the subchondral bone of a synovial joint, eventually resulting in joint failure. (Fransen, 2015) Chances are that someone close to you has osteoarthritis as it is a very prevalent chronic disease. Living with a chronic disease does not bring much joy and preventative measures can be taken to avoid the pain or interventions can be used to make the pain bearable. Some interventions that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Exercise is something that can easily be taught to patients and nurses have the prime opportunity to educate patients that are at risk or have osteoarthritis before they need a joint replacement surgery. Mobility is a huge part of each individual s life and joints play a crucial role in one s mobility. When a joint s function decreases a person s mobility, many other things are at risk to decrease as well such as skin integrity and the cardiovascular system. As a nurse, it is important to treat patients holistically and when one part is not functioning, such as the joint, it is our job to bring function back to improve one s health overall. Methods Many of the studies reviewed followed similar methods to collecting data related to exercise and knee osteoarthritis. There were many systematic reviews that supported this PICO question and determined whether land based therapeutic exercise is beneficial for people with knee osteoarthritis in terms of reduced joint pain or improved physical function and quality of life. All of the studies had searched various databases, which included, MEDLINE, EMBASE, The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Google scholar and OpenGrey. • 3. The Power Of Religion By Chinua Achebe The Power of Religion A religion to some is the basic world views for a person, to some it is the basic behaviors and practices and to others it is an order of existence. Throughout history, the world has witnessed a religions power to guide a society, but many have also witnessed a religion destroy a society as well. Within the novel Things Fall Apartby Chinua Achebe, the world witnesses many religions, for example the Ibo religion and Christianity. We are able to get a delightful insight on their ways of functioning and beliefs. For the durations of the book, we observe the destructive power of religion. Religion can absolutely destroy a society and break it into pieces because religion creates fear within the people who follow it, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This fear does not allow people to do things they want and is against the basic fundaments of a healthy society. In a healthy society, people would be free to go outside during night and kids would be free to whistle. If these fears do not change, then the society will be destroyed because freedom is a basic necessity for a health society. Continuing on, another example of fear being fabricated in the minds of the people is during the appearance of the ancestral spirit, during the funeral of Ezeudu. The ancestral spirits have a sickly odor hung in the air wherever he went, and flies went with him. Even the greatest medicine men took shelter, when he was near. (122). The Ibo religion once again is able to fabricate fear into the minds of its followers. The religion places a fear of ancestral spirits thus making the society sacred of walking around during the appearance of spirits, which once again violates the freedom of the people. If a religion is implementing fear within the society, it is slowly killing itself because people deserve freedom. Fear leads to destruction. In addition, a religion can unquestionably destroy a society due to class divisions. Osu s are the outcast of the Ibo religion. An osu [can] not attend an assembly of the free born and they, in turn, [can] not shelter under his roof (156). With a religion like Ibo creating class divisions, it ... • 4. Mri Of The Knee Ligament Tear MRI of the knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear Introduction The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is an important structure in maintaining the normal biomechanics of the knee and is the most commonly injured knee ligament. ACL tears may be partial or complete. A partial tear can involve both or only a single bundle to varying degree, can range from a minor tear involving just a few fibers to a high grade near complete tear involving almost all of the ACL fibers. Anatomy and physiology The ACL originates from the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and runs superiorly, laterally, and posteriorly toward its insertion on the lateral femoral condyle. Together with the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), the ACL guides the instantaneous center of rotation of the knee, therefore controlling joint kinematics. To a lesser degree, the ACL checks extension and hyperextension. The ACL is not as strong as the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and it is less strong at its femoral origin than at its tibial insertion. Muscles surrounding the knee joint contribute to knee stabilization during lower extremity movements. Mechanism of injury Mechanisms of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury are numerous. These injuries plague both athletes and non athletes. ACL injury is most prevalent (1 in 1,750 persons) in patients 15 45 years of age. It is more common in this age group in part because of their more active lifestyle as well as higher participation in sports. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It connects people from all over the world, thus eradicating traditional boundaries of land and sea. Along with this connectivity comes the availability of information and instant communication. This sort of digitalization of human interaction is evident in social media websites like Facebook. People are able to communicate with each other and share aspects of their lives constantly. A popular form of self expression present across all social media platforms is the selfie : an informal photograph of oneself taken by that person either with a front facing camera or other form of unprofessional photography. In her book analyzing the Kardashian empire, Amanda Scheiner McClain describes their ubiquity and what they represent: The Kardashians are more than just a reality TV show: they are a contemporary cultural touchstone, recognizable throughout the world; connoting warrantless celebrity, voluptuous beauty, and flash in the pan marriage (McClain 1). In fact, the popularity of their show says more about society than the Kardashian themselves. There is a sense of fascination and perhaps envy prevalent in the Kardashian s popularity. People watch because in a way they are vicariously living and experiencing a life of luxury through the Kardashians. The Kardashians represent an aspect of American culture that is materialistic, excessive, and superficial. While the show itself warrants discussion on its own, it is family member s activity on social media that will be discussed throughout this essay. While they are most active on major social media platforms like Twitter, their activity on the photo application Instagram will be the prime example since Kim ranks as its most popular user with over 27 million followers, and other family members like Kendall, Kyle, Khloe, and Rob claiming third, fifth, seventh, and tenth place respectively (McCalin ... • 7. Naturalism Vs Supernaturalism Gary complains that my definition of weak naturalism is narrow, and then proceeds to conflate that definition with naturalism, claiming I equivocate. Allow me then to clarify so that any further discussion can be clear. My claim that As far as we know, the natural world is all there is, is not, pace Gary s claim, a knowledge claim about fundamental reality. It is agnostic about fundamental reality. This is a crucial distinction, as Gary is at pains to maintain the position of false equivalence between weak naturalism and supernaturalism. My position clearly states as far as we know , thereby delineating a point beyond our current level of knowledge (know). Weak naturalism does not enter this unknown country, rather it maintains that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples of where I had previously used weak naturalism to posit a prima facie case for naturalism, provide no contradiction or suggestion that my definition of weak naturalism is anything less than clear. Ie. Naturalism makes a knowledge claim about fundamental reality whereas weak naturalism does not. Gary appears to think I was arguing that naturalism can be proven from premises that (1) nature exists; and (2) there is no evidence of a supernatural reality) that nature is all there is (which, of course, does not follow) . My essay argued that there was a false equivalence between the two metaphysical views, not that I considered naturalism proven by the limits of our knowledge. In any case, making a straw man of my claims does nothing to substantiate claims of a supernatural realm. To refute weak naturalism the supernaturalist needs to provide positive evidence of a supernatural world. It is not sufficient to present semantic disagreement on what the terms mean or to attempt to puncture weak naturalism by conflating and straw manning the concept. It is trivially true that the world exists, and undoubtedly true that we have no compelling evidence of a world beyond. The question is: what sort of evidence would be adequate to refute weak naturalism? And by degree, this question becomes, what quantum of evidence would be sufficient ... • 8. The Importance Of Dreams Dreams have been a mystery of the human mind since the beginning of time. Their purpose and importance to our lives varies depending on where you go for information, but it is clear that dreams are something that come along with being human. According to the theory of Sigmund Freud, dreams are a way for our mind to process the things we are feeling in the form of symbolism (Freud 350). While many brush off their dreams as simply a way for their brain to relieve stress and process the previous day, there is a large percentage of people who believe that their dreams are a message, or a warning, from the beyond. In Medieval times, one of the most common beliefs about dreams was that they were used as the primary way in which higher powers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Miracles and dream visions are often paired together in the Christian faith, specifically inside of the Catholic denomination. According to the information that I found, they call these visions private revelations. Even though they accept the idea that a Christian can be exposed to a vision, they are quick to distinguish the difference between private revelation and magic. This is confirmed in a direct quote from the Global Catholic Network, which says Alleged revelations which propose to improve upon, correct or entirely supplant Public Revelation are rejected by the Church as inauthentic, regardless of the claims made for them. Such revelations include those of Mohammed in the Koran, Joseph Smith in the Book of Mormon, the writings of new age mystics, psychics and the like (Donovan, Apparitions/Private Revelations). Another well known dream vision is Caedmon s Hymn, which was written by Bede. Caedmon s Hymn is about a vision from God that changes a man s entire life around. Caedmon is not much help in his church community, because he cannot sing praises. Caedmon is so distraught by this on one occasion that he runs away to the stables and falls asleep. During his slumber, Caedmon dreams that God asks him to sing. Caedmon sings the most beautiful and poetic song about creation, and remembers every line when he awakes. He promptly goes and tells everyone he knows, and becomes revered by the church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

B.In which other states or districts could the court have proper jurisdiction over Wal Mart and Smith Family Farms? Supposedly there has been 3 major epidemics of Scarlet Fever. The first uncontested account of scarlet fever came in 1553 similar to measles, diphtheria and other rashes however some say it was seen as early as 430 B.C. Scarlet fever brought about a death rate then as high as one hundred and fifty out of one hundred thousand, which is a very morbid death rate. In the iPod s early days was when all of this musicpiracy started when people discovered how to obtain music for free. • 12. Beowulf and Gilgamesh Comparative English Essay Compare the Beowulf poet s presentation of the battles with Grendel and his mother with the Gilgamesh poet s depiction of Gilgamesh battles with Huwawa and the Bull of Heaven. Fame and glory have been the most admirable characteristics in the middle Ages and even before Christ in the ancient civilizations. The epics of Gilgamesh and Beowulf are stories of heroism and immortality gained through fame. The aim of the main characters, Beowulf and Gilgamesh, is to be a good warrior by being courageous, respectful and prudent, a protector and servant to their king (only in the beginning of Beowulf, as he later becomes king and Gilgamesh already is) and their country. Enkidu and Gilgamesh can only win against nature and even gods by cooperating, which again is a sign of culture. It shows us that a civilization can withstand everything and even fight the Gods plans. In the Beowulf poem the battle scenes are described more vividly descriptive and including a lot of symbolism. The first fight is between Beowulf and Grendel, a fiend out of hell, [В…] grim demon haunting the marches, marauding round the heath and the desolate fens; he had dwelt for a time in misery among the banished monsters, Clain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed and condemned as outcasts. Nevertheless Beowulf settles out to destroy the demon and declares that he will fight Grendel there is a feast: Now I mean to be a match for Grendel, settle the outcome in single combat. (p. 15) Afterwards there is a feast in Hereot and at dusk Beowulf prepares for the fight and awaits Grendel s attack. • 13. Mental Disorders And The United States Mental disorders affect many people throughout the United States. Although it is not a direct link to criminal behavior, it is a major risk factor and oftentimes criminal offenders are found to have them. Mental disorders cause their victims delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and aggression. The definition of mental disorder is a vast number of mental conditions, ranging from the mild to the serious that impede one s ability to function. Sometimes with the more serious disorders may absolve an individual of criminal responsibility (Bartol, A Bartol, C, 2014). There are several different kinds of mental disorders including but not limited to schizophrenia, psychopathy, depressive disorders, and antisocial personality disorder(Bartol, A Bartol, C, 2014). In this paper, each different kind of mental disorder will be discussed along with the discussing the fallacy of the public believing that many people get off with the not guilty by reason of insanity plea. It is hypothesized that individuals who display mental disorders are at a greater risk to commit criminal offenses. The literature reviews that follow describe each type of mental disorder and types of crimeas a result of them. They will also describe the not guilty by reason of insanity plea. • 14. United States Involvement For Terrorism And Spreading... In 2003 the USA attacked Iraq. Washington s official account of the reasons to invade Iraq was centred on the argument that Iraq is a threat to its neighbours as well as to the USA. This was due to Iraq supposedly having WMDs and seeking for nuclear weapons and Saddam being unpredictable and irrational actor. Furthermore, it was argued that Saddam supports terrorists and could give WMDs to them. It was USA s mission to bring democracy and freedom to the Iraqi people (Hudson, 2005: 298 299). It was stressed by Condoleezza Rice, who was the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, that Iraq was unwilling to cooperate with the UN inspectors and that Iraq was lying about its assumed WMDs (Rice, 2002). Bush, Rice and other members of the administration made clear that Iraq was dangerous because of its WMDs and therefore Iraq should be invaded. It was also stated in the Joint Resolution that authorised the war that Iraq had WMDs, seeked nuclear weapons and was a threat to the USA (H.R.J. Res. 114, 2002). However, if WMDs and noncooperation with UN inspectors made Iraq such a huge threat, it has to be asked why Egypt and Israel, for example, were not attacked. For example, Israel has not ratified the Nonproliferation Treaty or the 1972 biological and toxic weapons convention and Egypt has not signed the Chemical Weapons Convention (Hubbel, 1998). Moreover, in general, it is not only Saddam Hussein who has murdered thousands and defied UN resolutions. The USA, however, is not seriously planning to attack those other states (Mearsheimer and Walt, 2003). David Dunn argues that this is, when it comes to North Korea, because the administration believes that North Korea is militarily strong enough to deter the USA, but Iraq is not and Iraq has to be stopped before it is, too. The only steady sound is my breathing. And then all of a sudden, the lights are on, the curtain is open, and my voice is the only sound. Steps follow behind me and I m not alone anymore. My hands are no longer sticky and my voice is loud and calm. No tremor as I feared I would have. The plot have some great twists which we never knew would happen or would even shock us like Adrian Toomes being revealed as Liz s father. These special effects even made the movie more interesting and colorful. In terms of script, those were so hilarious. They minimized saying foul words. They said the script clearly so that we could understand what they are saying. Overall, I give the movie a 4 stars over 5. This is one the best movies I have ever watched in cinemas. She luckily had the rest of the day off as she was only working the morning clinic; Ric on the other hand had escaped work for an hour to accompany his girlfriend. Ric had not disclosed why he had to take some time away, just that it lay personal. Despite saying that they would talk things over the following morning, they failed to follow through. Serena put up her defences; she decided there was nothing to talk about until they had the facts. This had left them with nothing but a four day wait to see Obs Gynae Consultant Michael Reid. Yet, it started to become more apparent that Serena found herself with child. Heartburn had become an issue, and Serena developed a taste for Donner Kebab something she only ever recalled eating as a University Student, after a night out. She found the concept of eating such vile processed food antagonising, the craving kicked in from nowhere. Tiredness kicked in, hitting her like a wave, she woke up that morning feeling utterly exhausted. Serena had hoped that this was all in her head; her body was just acting pregnant when it was not, and she could not contemplate risking everything in her life for pregnancy. • 19. Analysis Of Howard Zinn s Historian As Citizen The essay Historian as Citizen by Howard Zinn presents a call to action for historians everywhere. To start, he analyzes the delicate need for balance that comes with studying history, how historians can use patterns of the past to judge contemporary events, but must not overlook the universe of tricks outside that realm. Next, he argues we must also transcend the present and act as if we are freer than logic may suggest. Finally, Zinn delves into the negative aspects of society s long established blame game and submits his proposed solution. Through this text, Zinn seeks a drastic shift in focus from antiquity to activism for historians to stop merely scrutinizing old facts but instead use them as tools with which to examine human nature and build a better tomorrow. The strengths of Historianas Citizen lie in Zinn s practicality. For example, one of the things he advocates for is acting in spite of oppressive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can either act and have a chance at improving quality of life, or not act and depend completely on the even more unlikely case of outside intervention. Lines 1 2 She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; * An unnamed woman walks in beauty. This is an odd way of saying that she s beautiful, isn t it? Walk[ing] in beauty makes her beauty seem more dynamic as though it s partly her movement and the spring in her step that make her beautiful. She s not just a pretty face in a portrait; it s the whole living, breathing, walk[ing] woman that s beautiful. * Her beauty is compared to night. This seems strange night is dark, right? Aren t beautiful women usually compared to a summer s day ? (That would be Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, in case you were wondering). * But the featured woman isn t just compared to any night, she s compared to a night in a place where there are no clouds and lots of stars. We suppose that means she has a very clear and lovely complexion? Or perhaps being cloudless has more to do with her personality her conscience might be as clear as a cloudless sky. * You see starry skies at night, but the brightness of the stars relieves the darkness of the night. This is the first hint of a contrast between light and dark in the poem. * There s some pretty sweet alliteration in these lines. You might want to head over to the Symbols section for ... • 22. The Great Cat Massacre Analysis Overall, the argument of The Great Cat Massacre was that a historian could use the writings of a particular point in history to determine the psychology of the people of that time. In this case, it was of the French people in the decades before the French Revolution. Like Natalie Zemon Davis, Darnton claimed he had the ability to know the mental landscape of the people he studied, understanding their motives based on the few words that were placed before him. But is this determination of a people s mindset possible? How much of the catmassacre was Darnton s thoughts and beliefs and how much were of the people he was studying? The truth is that there is no way of knowing what is history and what is Darnton s perception of history. Like Davis, Darnton ran the fine line of telling history as it was, and using that history to support his own beliefs and opinions, and the critics, as before, had a problem with this practice. Roger Chartier, in his article Text, Symbols, and Frenchness, began his argument with the belief that Darnton gave the incident of the cat massacre too many levels of meaning. How could this one act be a statement about the treatment of the workers, the practice of witchcraft, the cuckolding of a husband, and a critique of the new lifestyles of the masters all at one time? Chartier starts his argument against this interpretation by criticizing Darnton s use of a modern definition of symbol. Chartier believed that, anyone concerned primarily with ... Principles of Finance Notes Principles of Finance Notes Theory Questions Explain why the NPV approach is preferred to the IRR approach (2006) The NPV approach takes into account the timing of cash flows and the IRR does not. For example if you took 2 projects that required the same initial outlay and had the same cash inflows for the same period of time but one project was deferred for one year, using the NPV we would have different values but the IRR would give us the same. The NPV approach takes into account the scale of the project and the IRR does not. The second point means that a firm s value is not determined by the way it is financed or the dividends paid to the firm s owners. Explain the concepts of business risk and financial risk. (/2010) Business risk is the possibility that a company will have lower than anticipated profits, or that it will experience a loss rather than a profit. Business risk is influenced by competition, economic climate, government regulation amongst others. A company with a higher business risk should choose a capital structure that has a lower debt ratio to ensure that it can meet its financial obligations at all times. The ratios used to evaluate business risk include the contribution margin ratio, operating leverage ratio, financial leverage ratio and total leverage ratio. Financial risk is the possibility that shareholders will lose money when they invest in a company that has debt, if the company s cash flow proves inadequate to meet its financial obligations. This will give the PE teacher a great understanding of his or her students skill level. Following that, the teacher will give lessons on different types of swings and throughout these lessons, the teacher can provide formative assessments to check for understanding. Liver toxicity, because of the primary role of the liver in the metabolism, detoxification, and elimination of xenobiotics, caused by the exposure to the growing number of chemical toxicants in the form of agricultural, industrial, and pharmaceutical products and food components, additives, and contaminants is the most common organ injury [1 3]. Toxicant associated liverinjury has been associated with a broad spectrum of liver pathologies ranging from acute necrosis to several types of chronic pathological states, including simple hepatic steatosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), toxic liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis[1,3]. • 45. The Destructive Effects Of Iconoclasm During The Byzantine... Makoto Emura 3/22/2015 The Destructive Effects of Iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire In the 4th century, the Roman Empire underwent major changes, becoming the Byzantine Empire. The Roman religion was replaced by Christianity, specifically the Eastern Orthodox Church, as the new state religion. Artists helped to spread this new religion by building churches and producing manuscripts. The artists imagined what religious figures looked like to portray them in art. But the Church criticized the visual representation of figures at certain periods during the Byzantine Era. Artists lost their creative freedom during these periods, called iconoclasm. The Early Byzantine Era ended when the first iconoclasm occurred. One manuscript created during the Early Byzantine Era was the Rossano Gospels (Image 1). The Rossano Gospels is written in Medieval Greek during the 6th century, and was discovered in Rossano, Italy. The parchment medium was colored slightly purple with a rare dye to proclaim the importance of the document. Over time, it turned red. The document is big 12 x 10.5 inches. As an illuminated manuscript, it is filled with colorful illustrations. Image 1 shows Christ in Washing of the Feet and Last Supper. • 47. Compare And Contrast The Secret Sorrow And A Secret Sorrow Compare and Contrast: Works of Sorrow Good literature, although hard to define, is most times determined by whether a particular literary work is able to make one think or feel. A Secret Sorrow written by Karen van der Zee, and ВЁA Sorrowful Woman,ВЁ written by Gail Godwin, are two pieces of literature that are debatably good, by this definition. I personally believe that ВЁA Sorrowful WomanВЁ was the better of the two due to its realism and thought provoking plot. The first story, written by Karen, is very stereotypical, the plot being somewhat predictable and the tone rather light. However, the second story, written by Gail, is quite the opposite; it takes on a more realistic approach and holds a darker tone. The stories are those that greatly contrast each other, their similarities almost completely lost to the dramatically different plots and tones. Yet, three particular topics of interest within these conflicting stories that have both differences and similarities are those of the female protagonists, children, and the overall tone of each story. To start, between the two stories, the female protagonists are the factors that differ the most due to the gender roles they accept. In A Secret Sorrow, Karen writes her female character into a stereotypical role one would observe in any common fairy tale. The woman, being much younger and smaller than her male partner, is described as being weak and cowardly like an animal. The reader observes a lengthy portion of the story ... Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ultrasound Ever since the beginning of medicine, diagnostic procedures were mainly invasive, meaning that the patient was cut open, resulting in an excruciating amount of pain for the diagnosis of some simple conditions, such as pneumothorax and appendicitis. This practice was usual for centuries up until the early 20th century where the use of waves, electromagnetic or not, in medicine began. One type of the waves used was the ultrasound wave. The ultrasound waves, are sound waves with a frequency higher than that of the audible human hearing range (Rouse, What Is Ultrasound? Definition from WhatIs.com ). The idea of first applying the ultrasound for medical diagnostic purposes accord simultaneously in more than one country in the world, however the best documented one was in 1957 in Glasgow, Scotland by the Scottish physician Professor Ian Donald ( The Development of Ultrasound ). According to Edmund Spenser (c. 1552 1599), William Shakespeare (1564 1616) and Michael Drayton (1563 1631) you do it through poetry. In their respective sonnets Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand), Sonnet 18 (Shall I compare thee to a summer s day?) and Sonnet6 (How many paltry, foolish, painted things) they each tackle the topic of living forever through writing. While all three of these sonnets share the common subject matter of preserving someone through sonnets, do they present them in a similar manner? What senses do each poet use to get his point across? That will be the point of discussion in this essay, first looking at each of the sonnets separately and then comparing the different ways in which they appeal to the senses. Unlike Spenser who preserves the object of his sonnet through the dialogue, Shakespeare preserves it through the visual imagery. Drayton also has a clear visual emphasis throughout his sonnet, even though his language has an added pride and sense of superiority to it that are not present in the others. While the object of his sonnet is their sex s only glory (Drayton, line 12) there is little to describe the woman herself, and more as to how others shall remember her in awe and how she will live on through his words.
