Google it, a phrase that most of us use and said it, which it is very common in our generation.

productivity, reading, and writing. By just typing in a few words, the internet can process of

since everywhere I walk to, I will see people, children, even babies on a phone worrying about what

The Secret Life Of Bees Theme Essay
In the book called The Secret Life of Bee s written by Sue Monk Kidd there are characters such
as Lily, Rosaline, T.Ray, Deborah, August, May, Zach, etc. From the list of characters stated one
that I admire the most and seem to have a lot in common in is Zach. I admire him due to his
determination, his want to be a lawyer, and especially due to the fact that he plays football. Well
Zachery Taylor (His full name) is as determined as they come. Living in a world full of Racist
white men with white privilege breathing down his neck. Zach will just keep on churning
through everything. Small examples of his determination are Law schools being explicit to
whites only. Stating his only way of being educated is unavailable. Some ways he tries to
overcome this is communicating with Clayton Forrest (Lawyer). He ends up learning off
Clayton to learn tips and tricks. He uses it as an alternative to school. Falling in love with Lily
also shows another hump in his life that he overcomes with determination. Knowing it s a white
man s world and being caught with Lily will be a serious crime due to the time. So for that he
keeps it lowkey. Everything seems to go good for Zach until he is... Show more content on

Essay about Commentary on the Novel Peace like a River by...
Negative Peace?
Can something as positive as peace, sadly, turn negative? Throughout the book Peace like a River
by Leif Enger, a negative mood, surprisingly, is established. When the story itself does maintain a
positive influence, it s almost as if the negativity takes a higher dominance. In this novel, narrated
by the middle child, Reuben, who has severe asthma, the reader is introduced to the very unique
Land family. Jeremiah, the father and main provider of this family has three children, two boys
and a girl; Reuben and Davy are both older than their sister Swede. However, Helen, the wife of
Jeremiah and the mother of the three kids, left the family when Jeremiah turned his career path
around to become a school janitor. The Land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Land family enters turmoil when Jeremiah is fired from his job and struggles from
pneumonia. After some time, Christmas comes around and Reuben spends the money he
worked very hard for on groceries for the family. Mr. Decuellar, Davy s lawyer later brings the
family an Airstream trailer from an old friend, Tin Lurvy. Previously, it was revealed that
Jeremiah had received a letter from August about Davy s arrival. Jeremiah later recovers from
his sickness, packs up the trailer, and sets off with the family in the trailer; leaving the now
dreary town of Roofing behind. Finally, the family arrives in North Dakota and receives news
on Davy s wellbeing, but also finds out that he is still on the run. All in all, in the book Peace
like a River, a negative mood is established whether it be directly from the first chapter, when
trouble enters the Land household, or through times of economic suffering. First, negativity
enters early within the first few pages during the dramatic birth of Reuben Land. When Reuben
was born, his dad, Jeremiah wasn t even in the room. He only arrived later when God was told to
have made him run to the delivery room. Sadly, Reuben s lungs were, at first, defective and it
was starting to look as if he wasn t going to make it. The doctor, Dr. Nokes had delivered the baby
and had practically given up on poor Reuben s life. It was unavoidable, he was saying; nothing
could be done; perhaps it was for the best, (2). Negativity now ensues, no

Teaching Styles in Physical Education
When you become a teacher of any subject you use different styles of teachings that reflect you as a
teacher and the lesson you are trying to teach. Sometimes it can be difficult to find what styles may
work best in different situations. When teaching physical education the most helpful and beneficial
styles are indirect, direct, and interactive teaching. These teaching styles are critical when trying to
teach physical educationbecause they are proven to be effective. These styles will help make you an
effective teacher because of the way they allow you to control and manage the information being
taught. When teaching physical education these styles when incorporate to your class make you a
more affective teacher. These three... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method relies heavily on discussion and sharing among participants. The interactive
instruction strategy allows for a range of groupings and interactive methods. These may include
total class discussions, small group discussions or projects, or student pairs or triads working on
assignments together (4). For example in your class you could have team orientated games,
spark, or even adventure ed. These things allow students to work together such as spark. In
spark, students will be in small groups where they try to complete a challenge at hand by
working together. These activities range in goals and rules, but the common concept is that
students will be forced to work together. Interactive teaching is something every teacher should
use in their class after using styles like direct teaching. Direct teaching is a lot of one person
practice and repetition to perform a skill correctly. Interactive teaching is the step you would use
after those skills are mastered. Being able to incorporate those skills in a game or group
environment would be showing mastery of a skill while using the interactive teaching method.
This method doesn t always have to be the last stage in a lesson plan, but it works well when using
it as a final stepping stone in your activity plan. When teaching physical education these three styles
of teaching can be vital to you when

Mucci Mag Transformational Leader Essay
The average American receives information of current events by television, paper magazines,
radio and social media. News reporting has become a very competitive industry where creativity
becomes key to the success of the company. For a news reporting magazine like Mucci Mag to be
successful, the company will need a transformational leader who can keep the magazinemoving

outside of the transactional space and into a transformational space that focuses on long term

conclusion, a Transformational leader with a clear vision and courage can bring change to a team.
They can inspire others with creativity and can direct a company to become innovative in their

When most people think about sociology they generally think of the study of sociology. However,
sociology is much deeper than just the study of sociology. It displays a plethora of sub topics such
as: crime, deviance, bureaucracy, culture, criminality, socialization, economy, politics, religion,
education, social class and many more. Throughout this fall semester this sociology course has
taught me things that I could never imagine. To be more specific there were actually ten topics that
I learned in this course that was very important to me. Those topics were: crime, deviance,

Shortly after the modernization time period there becomes a development of key ideas
/ sociological ideas from Auguste Comte, Karl Marx, and Emile Durkheim. The most interesting
thing about learning their key ideas were and where they originated. August Comte obtained the
key ideas of the Renaissance and the formation of a good society that consisted of a good society
of exploitation, poverty, inequality, and degradation.Karl Marx s key ideas were composed of the
mode of production, class systems, bourgeoisie, the rise of socialism and communism, capitalist
system and the working class. Make a comparison of the sociology of Karl Marx and Max Weber.
Give examples. Karl Marx and Max Weber had different views and perspectives on society. For
example, Karl Marx believed that the capitalist system of society would disintegrate due to the
revolt of the working class. However, Max Weber preferred the study of social and rational
action, he thought social action was meaningful. Max also speculated that capitalism is a
constellation of social actions. The major sociological ideas of Emile Durkheim were: collective
consciousness, social facts, and industrial society. In the industrial society he believed that there
would have been more crime and deviance because of the breakdown for the balance between
moral absolutism and individual freedom.Durkheim s theory on egoistic suicide was based on a

The Worst Nightmare
Shivers I hear heavy breathing outside the closet door, so I think the monster knows I m here. I
guess I should catch you up. I ve been hiding in this closet for hours, and I m writing this in case
I don t make it out of here alive. Every night for the past 2 weeks I ve been hearing noises, and 3
nights ago I saw it. I woke up to the noises as usual, but instead of finding nothing there, I saw a
terribly gruesome figure. It seemed like it had been human at some point, but it were nothing
but a rotting carcass now. That kinda made me feel bad for it, pitied it in a way, because It was
deformed in such an agonizing way. In It must ve sensed my fear because it moved as if to
launch itself toward me, and in fact, I was absolutely petrified. I couldn t even move because of
fear paralysis, so I just laid there in horror as my worst nightmare came true. I shut my eyes real
quick, expecting to feel it s deformities on my body, but after a minute or so I didn t feel
anything, so I slowly crept open my eyes and I saw it, within inches of my face, just staring at
me. I could feel its hot breath on my neck, as I felt bile rising up in my throat. That thing I saw,
wasn t human anymore. It unhinged its mouth like a snake, swallowing my silver watch whole.
The worst part was that it wouldn t leave, it had me stuck in a paralyzed state for what seemed
like hours. Finally, it left. The largest grin was sprawled across its face, as it sunk into the
shadows. I was

Similarities Between The Stranger And Waiting For Godot
In Literature class, we read The Stranger by Albert Camus and Waiting for Godot by Samuel
Beckett. The two stories are both similar and different in many ways. I m comparing and
contrasting these stories because they both have existential themes, but the stories are presented
very differently. In this essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting three similarities and three
differences between The Stranger and Waiting for Godot. Repetition is shown in both pieces of
literature. In The Stranger , Meursault s daily schedule is repeated. He goes to the same
restaurant and orders the same meal every day, which is part of his routine. In Waiting for Godot
, the character s dialogues are frequently repeated. Nothing to be done , is one example of
repetition in dialogue. In the first half dozen pages of the play the phrase is repeated about four
times. (Anonymous, schoolworkhelper.net). Additionally, the days in Waiting for Godot are
probably also repeated. In both pieces of literature, the characters freedom is limited but the
form of restriction is different. In the second part of The Stranger , Meursault s freedom is
(physically) restricted by the law. He lost his freedom because he was ordered to go to jail.
Meursault lost his freedom to live at the end of the story. On the other hand, Vladimir and Estragon
s freedom is also limited because they were waiting for Godot.
Estragon: Let s go.
Vladimir: We can t.Estragon: Why not?

Issues Involving Racial Inequality in Society Today
In today s society there are many issues involving racial inequality. One major issue affecting
college students and high school seniors is affirmative action. Affirmative action is a policy
favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination, especially minorities. Affirmative action
started in the 1970 s and its purpose is to help universities better diversify their campus with
different demographics. At the time, affirmative action was a means of restitution for human rights
abuse African Americans suffered for generations. Today, affirmative action is not limited to blacks,
and is a controversial issue due to higher competition with college acceptance rates.
Those who argue in favor of affirmative action argue that the policy is necessary because it allows
universities to maintain diversity and strip campuses of racial barriers to reflect a better integrated
society. Affirmative action compensates for opportunities lost to minorities and racism. Supporters
also argue that affirmative action benefits all students, not just minorities. It does so by allowing
students to better integrate with one another to prepare them for the workforce.
Opponents of affirmative action argue that it violates the 1964 Civil Rights Act because prohibits
discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color...or national origin in federally funded
programs and activities. Opponents of this policy declare affirmative action beneficiaries eventually

Culture
Any consideration of Spanish culture must stress the tremendous importance of religion in the
history of the country and in the life of the individual. An index of the influence of Roman
Catholicism is provided by the fervent mystical element in the art and literature of Spain, the
impressive list of its saints, and the large number of religious congregations and orders. The
Catholic marriage is the basis of the family, which in turn is the foundation of Spanish society.
Economy
Spain has traditionally been an agricultural country and is still one of the largest producers of farm
commodities in Western Europe, but since the mid 1950s industrial growth has been rapid. A series
of development plans, initiated in
1964, helped the economy to expand, but in the later 1970s an economic slowdown was brought on
by rising oil costs and increased imports. Subsequently, the government emphasized the
development of the steel, shipbuilding, textile, and mining industries. Spain derives much income
from tourism. The annual budget in the early 1990s included revenues of about $97.7 billion and
expenditures of about $128 billion. On January 1, 1986, Spain became a full member of the
European Community (now the European Union, or EU).
Agriculture
Agriculture is a mainstay of the Spanish economy, employing, with forestry and fishing, about 10
percent of the labor force.

Countee Cullen Analysis
Countee Cullen was a leading writer of the Harlem Renaissance. Adopted as a teenager, he was
never able to know his real, true family, along with its heritage, so he was not able to find his
true identity. He felt these devastating effects of a loss of identity after losing his family, while
being thrust into a new one, and never found or understood his own heritage. This later impacted
major aspects of his life, such as his style of writing, his religion, and his sexuality. Cullen was
raised in Harlem, but there is no record of his place of birth. He was born May 30th, 1903 and
was raised by his grandmother until her death in 1918. At that time, Cullen was just a fifteen
year old boy with no family left to look after him. Cullen was adopted by Reverend Frederick A.
Cullen, a pastor from one of Harlem s most popular churches. Reverend Frederick introduced
Cullen to an atmosphere that encouraged education, faith, and sophistication. Cullen later on
enrolled in New York University, where he published Ballad of a Brown Girl in 1923, before his
graduation. After graduation, he went on to earn his master s degree in English from Harvard
University, which he received in 1926. While at Harvard, he published Color, which was a
collection of poems with topics that ranged from death, to love, and sex. One of his most popular
and notable poems, Heritage , was published in Color. Throughout his writing career, Cullen was
advised by Alain Locke. Alain Locke was a writer, philosopher,

Every religion have some kind of directional books which is provided by God or his assistance

they sacrifice cow in a specific day of the year name Eid Ul Azha. They sacrifice the animal and
share the beef among family, neighbors, and to the poor people. These things are commanded by
Allah/God in islam. On the other hand, in Hindu religion, eating beef is prohibited. Hindu respect
cow as their mother according to their religious guide. However, some people also does not
support to kill animal and they fell sorry for them. Moreover, in Hindu religion, husband is God
for the wife and they have to follow everything according too their husband. This thing is so
wrong in other religious people and also many hindu women do not accept it. However, some of

I agree that the clock will lose time at the higher altitude. The acceleration due to gravity decreases
which means the frequency will decrease which means the angular frequency will decrease
resulting in a loss of time.
As the clock is moved further from the center of the earth, it loses time. This is because the
acceleration from gravity decreases more and more as higher altitudes are reached. This decrease
in the acceleration due to gravity leads us to believe that the frequency and the angular frequency
decrease as well which all relate to one other and cause time to be lost.
The clock would lose time because as the value of g decreases, the period increases.
When the clock is moved away from sea level gravity would slightly decrease causing the clock to

Thermohaline Ocean Circulation Case Study
1.Thermohaline Ocean circulation are the ocean currents that are directed by density. The density
in the water are altered by two factors; temperature and salinity. These factors emerge from the
heating and cooling of the ocean s surface. The production of sea ice and evaporation increases
salinity, while precipitation, runoff and sea ice melting reduce salinity. 2.If it is true that the
glaciers are melting, then the ocean water in the Atlantic will become less dense and warm. There
would be an extreme increase of fresh water. The freshwater entering the atlantic will dilute the
salinity causing the water to become less dense. In the atlantic sea ice is being shifted back by the
warmer surface currents. This causes a cut back of reflection... Show more content on

Heat is building up in these regions due to the deterioration of a convection cell in the Weddell

My Experience Of College Writing In High School
High School:
The light grey, concrete building rose from the ground, looking like something out of a dystopian
novel. I was rapidly approaching Herter Hall, where my dreaded College Writing class would take
place, with an overwhelming urge to turn around. I was so anxious because up until my first
semester at college, writing had been synonymous with pure stress. In all of my previous writing
classes, I was either assigned literary analysis papers, or papers on the same controversial issues
(gun control or the death penalty). Furthermore, I was always instructed to follow a very specific
format, which made my essays very repetitive. After four years of writing nearly the same essay, I
had become very frustrated because my creativity and perspective was being confined. Despite
my hatred for the class, I considered myself to be a decent writer. Seldom did I get lower than an
A on an essay in high school, and most teachers gave me praise for my insightful analysis. That
being said, I knew college writing would be more difficult than high school, and I was nervous
because I severely lacked revision skills. In the past, I would become very partial to my writing
and turned a blind eye to poor sentence structure, organization, or style choices. As a result, my
essays were generally only looked over for grammatical errors.

the rocks into the three different types of rocks. These rocks have numerous elements in
common, but are created different ways. Sedimentary rocks are created by pieces of many
different rocks that create rocks. Metamorphic rocks are rocks that are created from heat and
pressure these rocks can be sedimentary, igneous, or other metamorphic rocks. Igneous rocks
begin as a melted rock that freeze. Rocks are nonliving and created with different minerals, but
their formation, breakdown, and reformation are different and this is how we categorize each rock

The Eradication Of Beta Cells And Production Of Type 1...
The purpose of this assignment is to review the available information on diabetes type I, directing
attention to the participation of the immune system in the eradication of beta cells and the
production of type 1 diabetes. The eradication of beta cells will be explored with regards to the
administration of insulinwithin the blood stream. The second question to be reviewed is the severe
influence of blood glucose administration. The correlation of diabetes with regards to mood
alterations, hyperglycaemia and unsubstantiated weight loss will be explored. Furthermore, the
patientВґs enhanced appetite, increased urge to urinate and severe thirst detailed. Moreover, the
potential outcomes on the six weeks foetus within the first trimester of CarolВґs pregnancy will be

1.Pathophysiology of Type 1 Diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), often develops in childhood or early adulthood and is the
outcome of the reaction of the autoimmune system which is produced as a result of the destruction
of beta cells from the pancreas, when the body does not produce insulin. This usually happens

Peoria Analysis
The choice of Peoria, IL an IRS office in the Midwest to set the novel is anything but
coincidental. Apart from being one of the very few rather unpopular American institutions, it is
also, largely, extremely efficient, which is aptly summarized by the sardonic but true observation
often ascribed to Benjamin Franklin (who used it in the current form in a letter to Jean Baptiste
Leroy in 1789 but dating back to Daniel Defoe s Political History of the Devil written in 1726),
that in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes . But the inevitability of

The latter expression is a direct quote from 1 Corinthians 13:11, clearly implying something akin
to a quasi religious awakening whereby a self professed slacker and wastoid , ironically through
his inability to pay attention, evolves into a full on accountant. At this point, in order to further
explore the theme of boredom in The Pale King, let us revisit the definition of boredom itself after

The Human Body Cope With Stress
I am someone who is deeply interested in studying the human condition as it ranges in response to a
variety of life experiences and stressors. Humans respond to stress differently and largely as a
function of their environmental context. The many ways in which the systems of the human body
cope with stress can influence long term health and developmental outcomes that may even cross
over into subsequent generations.
Much of my curiosity in learning about human development stems from my own family
background. In fact, my parents are refugees from the country of Eritrea; they fled from the Eritrean
Ethiopian civil war as the people of Eritrea fought for their independence from Ethiopian rule. My
parents, along with thousands of others, sought political asylum and eventually found refuge in the
United States. My parents recount their experiences of having to stealthily travel from camp to
camp and entering neighboring countries that forced them to assimilate for the sake of their safety
and survival. Currently, Eritrea continues to experience a outflux of its citizens by the thousands as
they attempt to escape the despotism in government that currently plagues the land.
The experiences of my parents and the countless other immigrants of Eritrea motivate me so
strongly to focus and draw parallels to the current experiences of people who have been directly
impacted by the crisis in Syria. It inspires me to grasp a better understanding firsthand of the
affected Syrian

A law firm has warned U.S. Air Force officials assigned at the Joint Base San Antonio in Texas that
they could face legal action if they do not withdraw the punishment for a Christian officer who was

Air Force Col. Michael Madrid, who is an Air Force veteran and flight surgeon, believes that

already been cleared of the accusation against him, a new commander named Maj. Gen. John E.

In a separate situation, a group of military chaplains has praised the U.S. Air Force for continuing

Rhetorical Devices In Richard Cory
Poet, Edwin Arlington Robinson, created an impressive poem which was written in 1897. Robison
wrote the poem Richard Cory as a narrative about a gentleman who is wealthy, well educated and
admired by many people in his town. Although Robinson begins the poem positive, describing the
admiration for the gentleman, he ends the poem with his death. This poem is one of Robinson s
most famous poems that he had created. Robinson was an American poet who attended Harvard
and now is remembered for his dramatic short poems. Robinson s attitude in Richard Corywas seen
through his diction, imagery, ethos, etc. Robinson incorporates many details that contribute to
the tragic irony at the end. Edwin Robinson creates his poem with an impressive diction that
allows us to truly understand the importance of the gentleman Richard Cory . Robinson includes
We people on the pavement looked at him, he was a gentleman from sole to crown, clean
favored, and imperially slim... (Robinson, Lines 2 4). He includes words such as pavement
instead of stating sidewalk, clean favored instead of good looking, and slim instead of thin. He
creates these changes because he wants to seem genuinely intelligent and add elegance to the
admiration of the man. He also states, And admirably schooled in every grace (Robinson, Line
10). Robinson states how the gentleman is extremely educated and has manners, which makes
sense why he is so admired. Robinson includes this diction because in a way he was portraying
himself into that man. Due to Robinson s diction the audience is able to analyze the real
reasoning behind it all. He incorporates this diction because the gentleman is admirable and
possibly Robinson wants to be admired as well. Imagery was seen throughout the poem due to the
way words were placed by Robinson. Edwin Robinson includes the statement, Whenever Richard
Cory went down town, We people on the pavement looked at him (Robinson, Line 1 2). As the
audience reads those lines, it is as if they imagine a celebrity walking the streets and people
admiring the celebrity. Robinson includes this perspective because he wants us to imagine the
altitude of the effects as the man was walking being admired. In addition, he also states that

The Rise And Fall Of Al Capone
The Rise and Fall of Al Capone
Katharine Sexton
California Baptist University
Abstract
In a time when the American Society for the Promotion of Temperance was trying to bring about
change for the moral good of the country. Their intentions were taken advantage of and twisted into
a multimillion dollar industry. That would give birth to one of the largest organized crime
syndications, as well as to the rise of a man who for short time would control the largest organized
crime syndications in the country, and his own bravado would bring him to his knees.
The Rise and Fall of Al Capone
(Sandbrook, 2012) states in an age when individual freedom is all, it comes as something as a
shock to reflect that in the world s most prosperous and dynamic country the prohibition of alcohol
lasted for almost fourteen years. During this time, it allowed the gangs of Chicago to assert the
influence and power on not only the people but politicians and the government. It also created a
cultural identity, we celebrate these individuals in movies and song. When they should be
vilified for the horrible blood baths that were so public and out of control. It seems that not only
did Al Capone and his men have no problem with breaking the law by murdering anyone who got
in his way, but he broke the word of God by not obeying one of the simplest of commandments.
Thou shalt not kill Exodus 20:13 (Holy Bible, 1998).

And this is also the most undervalued aspect in all educational organizations. But the impact of
the intangible skills of an individual is far more than the impact of the tangible ones. And this can
be seen from many successful people like Abraham Lincoln (Lawyer, U.S. president, finished one
year of formal schooling, self taught himself trigonometry, and read Blackstone on his own to
become a lawyer), Benjamin Franklin, (Inventor, scientist, author, entrepreneur, primarily home

never had any formal education. But does their success mean that academic excellence is not
required? No! What it basically shows is that a person having good personal and soft skills can
change the problems into opportunities and deal with the negatives in a more constructive and
better way. (Sharma, 2009) These are not just skills that can be acquired from a college or a

4. Explain how each of the following components are essential to a pleasing plate arrangement:
Shape: combine a variety of shapes on the plate, simple shapes artfully combined so that it doesn
t appear as confusing. Color: foods of different colors should be presented together. Generally,
the colors should provide balance and contrast. Texture: foods with different textures look more
exciting. Sensation perceived when eating a food as well as the appearance of the surface of the
food. Arrangement: balanced and unified composition (without overcrowding or too sparse) 5.
List three guidelines for arranging foods on a plate. Strike a balance between overcrowding the
plate and leaving large gaps of space. Foods should not touch the plate rim nor necessarily be
confined to the very center. Choose a focal point for the plate, to which the eye is drawn (usually
the highest point on the plate). Design the plate with the highest point to the rear or center. Avoid
placing foods of equal heights around the edge of the plate, leaving a hole in the center the eye
will naturally be drawn to that gap. The plate s composition should flow naturally. For example,
make the highest point the back of the plate and have the rest of the food become gradually
shorter toward the front of the plate. Slicing and fanning foods can attract the eye and help
establish flow. Sandwiches (OC, 788 790, 792 794) 6. What are the three major

Reflection On Interpersonal Communication
Reflection Paper I have taken Interpersonal Communication before during the summer 2016, but
I didn t pass it mainly because I wasn t as focused as I was in this class. Professor Castro just
made it fun. Her lectures and her stories made it interesting. Every Mondays and Wednesdays, I
had three classes. Interpersonal Communication would be my first class to start my day. Then
two classes after that. I ended up dropping those two classes. I was supposed to drop this class
too but I didn t because I wanted to learn more. I ve been in a relationship with my girlfriend for
almost a year and one of the problems we had was listening. Sometimes she wouldn t listen to me
or I just wouldn t listen to her at all. The day we had a lecture about listening in class, that same
morning, we got in an argument about how I don t listen to her. I always listen to her but not
when we argue. I usually avoid her when we are about to start arguing. I found it funny how the
professor somehow knew I was in trouble with listening and she decided to have a lecture on
listening. Unlike a history class or a math class or even reading class, this class actually helped
me outside of school. I also learned that my professor is a volunteer basically everywhere. She
participates in marches whenever she can. Her age doesn t stop her from making the community
better and standing up for what she believes in. She is an inspiration. She asked the class to
volunteer somewhere for three hours which was pretty cool. I haven t had any class in college
where volunteeringout in the community was a requirement. Because I had to volunteer for a
grade in class, I am now volunteering for the resist march in Los Angeles, June 11. I wouldn t be
going out to volunteer for this event if it weren t for this class. Knowing that my professor goes
to protests and marches at her age, she is truly an inspiration. I don t usually have time to go out
to marches anymore but seeing that she still does, I d want to participate more in the community.
Now only problem I had in this class was that I never really had my own seat. I moved to different
seats every time we had class. I felt very comfortable sittingin the back, but the professor doesn t
like having students

Pictures version of the famous Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice directed by Joe Wright and
won numerous awards for best actress, production design, best motion picture, and many more.
The trailer for Pride and Prejudice made it seem as though this was just going to be a love story
between a rich man named Darcy, played by Matthew MacFadyen and a poor girl named Elizabeth
Bennet, played by Keira Knightley, but overall it wasn t just that. Under that story lies an
overwhelming amount of social conflict, ideas spreading from the feminist theory, to marriage, to
most importantly social class. The story looks into the Bennet family and their situation. They are
about to lose all their land, and society in their time is patriarchal based in that only eldest son
receives entailment to their real estate. However, the real problem comes from the fact that Mr.
Bennett has five daughters! Mr. and Mrs. Bennett marry their daughters off to men with power and
money so they can ensure that they are financially secured. In this era women had no choice but to
marry young, dues to the face they didn t have as many job opportunities. On top of that if they
hadn t been married they would have been mocked.

Persuasive Essay On Whitewater Canoeing
Many people love the excitement of extreme sports. One of those sports is whitewater canoeing,
which involves going over waterfalls and battling strong currents. The problem is that the canoe
can get wedged between rocks and stuff, or the person may be thrown into the freezing water.
Some precautions can be taken, like wearing life jackets and helmets, but the sport is still
hazardous. Age restrictions should be set for whitewater canoeing, because serious injuries or
death may occur from the river features like rocks, branches, and waterfalls. Whitewater canoeing
is a very intense sport. The rocks are dangerous, and people may get hit by their friends paddles if

Perfection In Dancing
Perfection in the eyes of dancers is thinness as well as good health, great performance, and overall
the best dancer. Perfection is an abstract idea that everyone wants to achieve. Smith states that
dancers are one of the most driven people, however perfection is their main obstacle. Their goal to
achieve perfection throws them off because they slowly begin to develop eating disorders without
realizing, all because they want to appear thinner and slim. Dancers are especially more prone to
developing eating disorders due to their environment and peers; the unhealthy body expectations

Eating disorders may initially be a choice not to eat but it becomes an addiction, similar to how
smoking or drinking becomes addictive. Ballerinas are more likely to dislike their body because
their body may not fit their body goals. Body dissatisfaction is present among 37% to 84% of
ballet dancers (Ringham). Similar to how some teens idolize celebrities rich lifestyles,
ballerinas idolize professional dancers body physiques. In the dancing world, having a skinny
body is praised. It is seem as a necessity as a dancer, when it really is not. The percentage is
unfortunately a high amount, which means that the eating disorders must be stopped. Coaches
and dance teachers are beginning to reach out to any of their students that seems to have an
eating disorder, by monitoring their behaviors and maybe their eating habits if permitted. It is
unfortunate to have dancers develop eating disorders from a hobby and passion that they love.
Anorexia [an eating disorder where one starves themselves] is something I will have to deal with

The Death Of An Ice Cube
The chilling sensation of an ice cube pressed to my ear, my friends excited laughter, a sharp
stinging sensation, and then it was over. I had successfully pierced my cartilage despite my
parent s disapproval. This was the very first of many defiant acts that I would perform in the
years to come. As I looked at my newly pierced ear the first emotion that flooded through me was
satisfaction. I had successfully undermined my parents. They had drawn a line in the sand and I
had jumped right over it. Then slowly, a second emotion started to trickle in, guilt. Not regret or
remorse. Just guilt. I wasn t sorry for what I had done but I knew what punishment awaited me.
Only weeks before I had asked for my parent s permission to get the piercing and had received a
hard no . So what had provoked me to go behind my parents back and do it anyways? Was it to
spite them? To provoke a response? Had I done it for myself? Maybe I had something to prove to
myself, to show the world that I was daring and rebellious. When my parents saw the newest
metal addition to my holy temple they were furious as expected. Any normal parent would make
their kid take out the piercing and ground them for god knows how long. I was grounded of

Social Exchange Theory, And Uncertainty Events
It s not an overstatement to say that sometimes one specific communication encounter can make
or break a relationship. Therefore, it s important to acknowledge how communicating during a
fight affects the overall status of a relationship. In this specific scenario, Denise and Jose are a
recently married couple. Ever since they ve been married, Denise has felt a distance between her
and Jose that wasn t present before. She has been avoiding bringing this up, but finally decides to
do so one day after Jose comes home from work. An argument ensues about the problems in their
relationship and they conclude their issues started after they got married. Hence, within this paper,
I will take a closer look at Jose and Denise s scenario and analyze how their case exhibits three
communicationconcepts: avoiding, social exchangetheory, and uncertainty events. After the
analysis, I will give detailed recommendations on what should be done in the future to improve
their communication and relationships. In Jose and Denise s situation, Denise started having
concerns over their relationship shortly after they got married six. However, Denise didn t speak
up because she didn t want to rock the boat so soon into their marriage, worried that Jose would
leave her if she started complaining. This is an example of the escapist style avoiding, which
according to the text is when you do not express your own needs and goals, even if you have a
grievance
(O Hair et al., 2015, p.228). Denise,

Literary Anlysis
Much of life results from choices we make. How we meet every circumstance, and also how we
allow those circumstances to affect us dictates our life. In Anton Chekhov s The Lady With the
Little Dog, we are given a chance to take a look inside two characters not unlike ourselves. As we
are given insight into these two people, their character and nature unfolds, presenting us with
people we can relate to. Even if we fail to grasp the fullness of a feeling or circumstance, we are
still touched on our own level, evidencing the brilliance of Chekhov s writing. In the exposition of
the story, Chekhov immediately delves into his character generation, introducing us to both Anna
Sergeevna and Dmitri Gurov, the main players in the story. He... Show more content on

Sex, lies, and deceit do take place, but they are all off stage. Chekhov takes this critical time to
develop character, showing us what is going on inside the souls of the adulterers, rather than
sensationalizing on the outside events that are all too popular in today s society (as well as back
when the story was written). Although Chekhov s story is filled with complex issues of moral
struggle and turmoil, it is a story we can all relate to. Everyone faces difficult decisions in life,
and Chekhov brings the inner mayhem to light. Focus upon people rather than events impacts us in
ways we cannot even describe. We are connected to the people in the story as we identify with the
feelings and personalities of these fictional characters. Everything that he [Gurov] found important,
interesting, necessary, in which he was sincere and did not deceive himself, which constituted the
core of his life, occurred in secret from others (Chekhov 154). We are forced to reflect upon
circumstances in our own lives, and all of life s little nuances become significant once we realize
that they affect the fiber of our being. Chekhov attracts attention to

Towards the end of the story, as Gertrude seeks a cure for her withered arm, her husband ends up
cursing her, Damn you! What are you doing here? . This shows how the relationship turned quite
quickly from happiness and affection to resenting and unhappiness. It also shows an example of
lovers ending up in a sorry state as their relationship goes badly, as Gertrude dies after receiving
the cure for her spookily withered arm.
Hardy was also very interested in writing about fate and coincidence in his work for his readers.
As this shows in the The Withered Arm . Rhoda feels such a strong dislike for Gertrude, her ex
husbands new wife, that she subconsciously grasps her by the arm in a dream. Also, another
strong coincidence is that Gertrude is told to receive her cure for the arm by pressing it against
the neck of a hanged person. The coincidence is that the hanged person turns out to be Rhoda s
own son, who had be hanged for stealing. The son of the woman who seems to have caused the
illness, was the same person that offered her the cure, although Gertrude dies very soon after.
The Son s Veto presents another moral issue. A lower class woman marries an upper classman. To
avoid judgement they move away. When this man dies, she meets a past love, but because he is
now of a lower class, her son forbids her to marry him and she dies an unhappy lady. The

Palmata Case Study
A study by Ritchie, 2006 illustrated how a temperature increase initiates a temporal shift within
A.palmata mucus isolates, from beneficial bacteria to dominance by members of the genus Vibrio,
suggesting that protective mechanisms employed by this species are lost under warmer
conditions. Increased temperatures lowering coral resistance, thus, increasing disease
susceptibility is well documented (Bruno, 2007; Muller et al, 2008), as is the rise in ocean heat

Both species affected emphasise asexual fragmentation at the expense of dispersive sexual
reproduction therefore, recovery is further strained due to the reproductive strategies (Aronson
Precht, 2001). In addition to this, two pesticides commonly incorporated into African dust have
been found to interfere with the settlement of coral larvae (Virginia et al, 2003). Management
Strategies Responsive management plans are limited due to a lack of effectual diagnosis
methods. Protective statuses such as being listed on the IUCN can act as a buffer following
outbreaks, and it has been shown the decreased damage from human impacts via the designation
of Marine Protected Areas (MPA s) lowers disease prevalence in corals (Lamb et al, 2015; Groner
et al, 2015), yet despite this, implementing effective preventative and conservation methods remains
a cause for concern. Trial studies have shown antibiotic treatments to be successful in supressing
transmission of WBD, specifically with the use of Ampicillin and Tetracycline, although the latter
being less efficient (Kline, 2011) and Paromomycin has been shown to arrest the disease
completely (Sweet et al, 2014). Genetic research has shown that gene flow is regionally restricted

The Things I Regret Most For A Short Story
Most people either regret a lot of things or very few things. Some might regret something as little
as what they ate for lunch that gave them food poisoning or something as big as not visiting your
grandma before she passed away. I regret one very big thing.
The thing I regret most was about my first dog, Brody, who was only thirteen when he passed
away. I regret not giving him all the love and attention he deserved. I regret not helping him with
the problems he had. If I could go back in time and love him like I should have, I would.
A week before Brody died, I thought to myself that I should groom him and make him beautiful:
brush his fur, cut his claws, and cut off the matted pieces of fur that got tangled up because he
drooled. I never got around to it though because I was always too busy . Brody was a gorgeous
Great Pyrenees and had the heart made of pure kindness. His fur was as soft as cotton candy and
the color of vanilla with a couple splotches of chocolate. When you pet him, your hand would
disappear due to his long hair. We would use berry and coconut scented dog shampoo so he would
never give off that awful stench that other dogs had. His eyes were as dark and as shiny as the
night and around the pupil was the slightest gold that you would miss if you did not know it was
there.
I remember that my dad and I would go on walks and take Brody with us, or sometimes I would
walk him around the yard by myself. My

At the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest, at 29,029 feet above sea level is polluted with over
13,000 tons of trash. The North and South peaks are polluted with broken tent parts, oxygen
canisters, frozen bodies and so much more. Mt. Everest , world s tallest mountain is also
disgustingly polluted with garbage. Most of it oxygen tanks, tent parts, sleeping bags, human waste,
equipment parts, and frozen bodies. About 2.5 tons of it was classified as bio
hazardous.Experienced climbers, advanced equipment, and help from other group members make it
a playground experience not a wilderness, adventurous, and challenging experience.About 35
expeditions climb each year and leave all their.
When climbers get up to the death zone, their bodies get weaker.lack of oxygen and climbing for
hours doesn t help. The food they eat doesn t get digested and is not used for energy, that way they
have nothing to use while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sherpas clean up any leftover trash from climbers every year using yaks to take it down.Climbers
who go up now are required to come back down with 18 lbs. of garbage not including their
own.Experts can t be sure how much more is up there but said about 10 tons of it underneath snow
and ice.
Some of the garbage brought down was turned into art. 1.5 tons of it into 74 pieces of artwork.
15 artists worked hard ,it was a project to show awareness of the pollution on Everest. The art
reflects on the experience of the climbers. They decided to sell it, cost ranging from 17 to 2400
dollars. They held their first art show in november 2012. Many interested buyers came and 19
pieces were sold. Most of the garbage being left on Everest is coming down to be part of art.
Mount Everest is still badly polluted and the Nepalese people are still working hard to switch the
situation around.Hopefully people will take interest and help

Sputnik s Effect On The Space Race
The effect of Sputnik I on the Space Race
Sputnik 1 orbited the Earth every 98 minutes, flying over the United States seven times a
day.(Danielle Burton) During the Cold war the launch of Sputnik I by the Soviet Union in October
1957 created a fear in the United States. The United states feared that nuclear warheads could soon
come. In response the United States created and funded the National Defense Education
Act(NDEA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA). The United States
and the Soviet Union were at the start of an arms race and a space race. The funds for NASA were
excellent, because the United states had a lot of fear after seeing what the Soviet Union was doing.
During the space race it was the United States and the USSR fighting against each other in a lot
of battles that both sides took the other side of. There was the arms race and the space race both
were huge because one of them was the race to space and the other was all the battles in the
ground. During world war 1 the United States and the USSR were on the same side of each other
fighting together against hitler. But because both of these countries have a different view of
government they never really got along. As soon as world war 1 ended both countries wanted to
spread their government and neither side wanted the other one be too strong. Once the atomic bomb
invented and both sides had it they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The United States responded after putting all the money into NASA by getting Explorer 1 into
space. The USSR lead most of the space race by beating the United States by putting the first
satellite, First living thing, and the first human in space. The United States was the first to land on
the moon. This was a big accomplishment for the United States because the were losing at every
other part of the Space race and for them to be the first into space was a huge

Characters In A Few Good Men
In this movie, A Few Good Men, there are five major characters: Defense Attorney Daniel Kaffee,
Lieutenant Commander JoAnne Galloway, Sam Weinberg, Prosecutor Jack Ross, and Colonel
Nathan Jessup. There are two other characters that aren t major characters, but they are rather
important. They are Harold Dawson, Louden Downey, and William Santiago. These three
characters are important because the whole court case is surrounded by them. I viewed this movie
on Crackle. The five themes I will be discussing are the Prosecutor and the Defense, Plea
Bargaining, Expert Witness, Court Reporter, and what type of courtroom held the case.
The case was held under a U.S. District Court because it was a major trial court. It had lawyers, that
were well represented

Yellow Fever In Brazil Research Paper
Yellow Fever Outbreaks in Brazil
Yellow fever is a disease that is transmitted by infected mosquitos from person to person that is
typically found in tropical and subtropical areas such as South America and Africa. Currently in
Brazil, a Yellow fever outbreak is one of the worst the country has ever seen, spreading rapidly in
large cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. This spread of yellow fever is threatening to
become Brazil s first epidemic since 1942. In order to prevent this epidemic, health officials are
attempting to vaccinate 23 million people. However, anti vaccine activists began to spread rumors
that the vaccine was not effective and that the vaccine would kill them, decreasing the number of
people receiving the vaccine.

What My Bike Has Taught Me About White Privilege
The Article The article What My Bike Has Taught Me About White Privilege by J. Dowsett talks
about how there is a white privilege in today s world even if people want to deny it. He used the
analogy of bike riders being the minorities and automobile drivers being white. Most automobile
drives do not think about the bike riders, they are not men to them they just do not cross there mind
and because of that they might mistreat. There are also the automobiledrivers that go out of their
way to be mean to the bike riders just because they are driving a car so they feel superior.
Traditional and Alternative Perspectives
Post Positivist
Post Positivist see issues from a perspective that knowledge is key. Post Positivist have to have a
strong base to start from. The example from class was that it is like a pyramid, in order to be
able to come to a conclusion or the top of the pyramid they must establish a strong base. This base
is made out of research. Reality is something that we can understand and capture probabilistically
using the right tools (Schriver, 2011:126). They believe that with the right about of research they
can come to an answer that fits best. Traditional interpreted. A traditional Post Positivist would see
this article in the manner that not much research was made when this article was made and that
therefore it could not be a sound article until there was more done to it. It is one mans view on
how he sees privilege and even though it is an excellent

  • 3. The Secret Life Of Bees Theme Essay In the book called The Secret Life of Bee s written by Sue Monk Kidd there are characters such as Lily, Rosaline, T.Ray, Deborah, August, May, Zach, etc. From the list of characters stated one that I admire the most and seem to have a lot in common in is Zach. I admire him due to his determination, his want to be a lawyer, and especially due to the fact that he plays football. Well Zachery Taylor (His full name) is as determined as they come. Living in a world full of Racist white men with white privilege breathing down his neck. Zach will just keep on churning through everything. Small examples of his determination are Law schools being explicit to whites only. Stating his only way of being educated is unavailable. Some ways he tries to overcome this is communicating with Clayton Forrest (Lawyer). He ends up learning off Clayton to learn tips and tricks. He uses it as an alternative to school. Falling in love with Lily also shows another hump in his life that he overcomes with determination. Knowing it s a white man s world and being caught with Lily will be a serious crime due to the time. So for that he keeps it lowkey. Everything seems to go good for Zach until he is... Throughout the book Peace like a River by Leif Enger, a negative mood, surprisingly, is established. When the story itself does maintain a positive influence, it s almost as if the negativity takes a higher dominance. In this novel, narrated by the middle child, Reuben, who has severe asthma, the reader is introduced to the very unique Land family. Jeremiah, the father and main provider of this family has three children, two boys and a girl; Reuben and Davy are both older than their sister Swede. For example in your class you could have team orientated games, spark, or even adventure ed. These things allow students to work together such as spark. In spark, students will be in small groups where they try to complete a challenge at hand by working together. These activities range in goals and rules, but the common concept is that students will be forced to work together. Interactive teaching is something every teacher should use in their class after using styles like direct teaching. Direct teaching is a lot of one person practice and repetition to perform a skill correctly. Interactive teaching is the step you would use after those skills are mastered. Being able to incorporate those skills in a game or group environment would be showing mastery of a skill while using the interactive teaching method. The two stories are both similar and different in many ways. I m comparing and contrasting these stories because they both have existential themes, but the stories are presented very differently. In this essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting three similarities and three differences between The Stranger and Waiting for Godot. Repetition is shown in both pieces of literature. In The Stranger , Meursault s daily schedule is repeated. He goes to the same restaurant and orders the same meal every day, which is part of his routine. In Waiting for Godot , the character s dialogues are frequently repeated. Nothing to be done , is one example of repetition in dialogue. In the first half dozen pages of the play the phrase is repeated about four times. (Anonymous, schoolworkhelper.net). Additionally, the days in Waiting for Godot are probably also repeated. In both pieces of literature, the characters freedom is limited but the form of restriction is different. In the second part of The Stranger , Meursault s freedom is (physically) restricted by the law. He lost his freedom because he was ordered to go to jail. Meursault lost his freedom to live at the end of the story. On the other hand, Vladimir and Estragon s freedom is also limited because they were waiting for Godot. Estragon: Let s go. One major issue affecting college students and high school seniors is affirmative action. Affirmative action is a policy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination, especially minorities. Affirmative action started in the 1970 s and its purpose is to help universities better diversify their campus with different demographics. At the time, affirmative action was a means of restitution for human rights abuse African Americans suffered for generations. Today, affirmative action is not limited to blacks, and is a controversial issue due to higher competition with college acceptance rates. Those who argue in favor of affirmative action argue that the policy is necessary because it allows universities to maintain diversity and strip campuses of racial barriers to reflect a better integrated society. Affirmative action compensates for opportunities lost to minorities and racism. Supporters also argue that affirmative action benefits all students, not just minorities. It does so by allowing students to better integrate with one another to prepare them for the workforce. Opponents of affirmative action argue that it violates the 1964 Civil Rights Act because prohibits discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color...or national origin in federally funded programs and activities. • 25. Rhetorical Devices In Richard Cory Poet, Edwin Arlington Robinson, created an impressive poem which was written in 1897. Robison wrote the poem Richard Cory as a narrative about a gentleman who is wealthy, well educated and admired by many people in his town. Although Robinson begins the poem positive, describing the admiration for the gentleman, he ends the poem with his death. This poem is one of Robinson s most famous poems that he had created. Robinson was an American poet who attended Harvard and now is remembered for his dramatic short poems. Robinson s attitude in Richard Corywas seen through his diction, imagery, ethos, etc. Robinson incorporates many details that contribute to the tragic irony at the end. Edwin Robinson creates his poem with an impressive diction that allows us to truly understand the importance of the gentleman Richard Cory . Robinson includes We people on the pavement looked at him, he was a gentleman from sole to crown, clean favored, and imperially slim... (Robinson, Lines 2 4). He includes words such as pavement instead of stating sidewalk, clean favored instead of good looking, and slim instead of thin. He creates these changes because he wants to seem genuinely intelligent and add elegance to the admiration of the man. He also states, And admirably schooled in every grace (Robinson, Line 10). Robinson states how the gentleman is extremely educated and has manners, which makes sense why he is so admired. Robinson includes this diction because in a way he was portraying himself into that man. Due to Robinson s diction the audience is able to analyze the real reasoning behind it all. He incorporates this diction because the gentleman is admirable and possibly Robinson wants to be admired as well. Imagery was seen throughout the poem due to the way words were placed by Robinson. Edwin Robinson includes the statement, Whenever Richard Cory went down town, We people on the pavement looked at him (Robinson, Line 1 2). As the audience reads those lines, it is as if they imagine a celebrity walking the streets and people admiring the celebrity. Robinson includes this perspective because he wants us to imagine the altitude of the effects as the man was walking being admired. In addition, he also states that ... • 27. The Rise And Fall Of Al Capone The Rise and Fall of Al Capone Katharine Sexton California Baptist University Abstract In a time when the American Society for the Promotion of Temperance was trying to bring about change for the moral good of the country. Their intentions were taken advantage of and twisted into a multimillion dollar industry. That would give birth to one of the largest organized crime syndications, as well as to the rise of a man who for short time would control the largest organized crime syndications in the country, and his own bravado would bring him to his knees. The Rise and Fall of Al Capone (Sandbrook, 2012) states in an age when individual freedom is all, it comes as something as a shock to reflect that in the world s most prosperous and dynamic country the prohibition of alcohol lasted for almost fourteen years. During this time, it allowed the gangs of Chicago to assert the influence and power on not only the people but politicians and the government. It also created a cultural identity, we celebrate these individuals in movies and song. When they should be vilified for the horrible blood baths that were so public and out of control. It seems that not only did Al Capone and his men have no problem with breaking the law by murdering anyone who got in his way, but he broke the word of God by not obeying one of the simplest of commandments. Thou shalt not kill Exodus 20:13 (Holy Bible, 1998). The Rise Who knew that one moral act could lead to such chaos and crime in one country. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Reflection On Interpersonal Communication Reflection Paper I have taken Interpersonal Communication before during the summer 2016, but I didn t pass it mainly because I wasn t as focused as I was in this class. Professor Castro just made it fun. Her lectures and her stories made it interesting. Every Mondays and Wednesdays, I had three classes. Interpersonal Communication would be my first class to start my day. Then two classes after that. I ended up dropping those two classes. I was supposed to drop this class too but I didn t because I wanted to learn more. I ve been in a relationship with my girlfriend for almost a year and one of the problems we had was listening. Sometimes she wouldn t listen to me or I just wouldn t listen to her at all. The day we had a lecture about listening in class, that same morning, we got in an argument about how I don t listen to her. I always listen to her but not when we argue. I usually avoid her when we are about to start arguing. I found it funny how the professor somehow knew I was in trouble with listening and she decided to have a lecture on listening. Unlike a history class or a math class or even reading class, this class actually helped me outside of school. I also learned that my professor is a volunteer basically everywhere. She participates in marches whenever she can. Her age doesn t stop her from making the community better and standing up for what she believes in. She is an inspiration. She asked the class to volunteer somewhere for three hours which was pretty cool. I haven t had any class in college where volunteeringout in the community was a requirement. Because I had to volunteer for a grade in class, I am now volunteering for the resist march in Los Angeles, June 11. I wouldn t be going out to volunteer for this event if it weren t for this class. Knowing that my professor goes to protests and marches at her age, she is truly an inspiration. I don t usually have time to go out to marches anymore but seeing that she still does, I d want to participate more in the community. Now only problem I had in this class was that I never really had my own seat. I moved to different seats every time we had class. Focus Pictures version of the famous Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice directed by Joe Wright and won numerous awards for best actress, production design, best motion picture, and many more. The trailer for Pride and Prejudice made it seem as though this was just going to be a love story between a rich man named Darcy, played by Matthew MacFadyen and a poor girl named Elizabeth Bennet, played by Keira Knightley, but overall it wasn t just that. Under that story lies an overwhelming amount of social conflict, ideas spreading from the feminist theory, to marriage, to most importantly social class. The story looks into the Bennet family and their situation. They are about to lose all their land, and society in their time is patriarchal based in that only eldest son receives entailment to their real estate. However, the real problem comes from the fact that Mr. Bennett has five daughters! Mr. and Mrs. Bennett marry their daughters off to men with power and money so they can ensure that they are financially secured. Therefore, it s important to acknowledge how communicating during a fight affects the overall status of a relationship. In this specific scenario, Denise and Jose are a recently married couple. Ever since they ve been married, Denise has felt a distance between her and Jose that wasn t present before. She has been avoiding bringing this up, but finally decides to do so one day after Jose comes home from work. An argument ensues about the problems in their relationship and they conclude their issues started after they got married. Hence, within this paper, I will take a closer look at Jose and Denise s scenario and analyze how their case exhibits three communicationconcepts: avoiding, social exchangetheory, and uncertainty events. After the analysis, I will give detailed recommendations on what should be done in the future to improve their communication and relationships. In Jose and Denise s situation, Denise started having concerns over their relationship shortly after they got married six. However, Denise didn t speak up because she didn t want to rock the boat so soon into their marriage, worried that Jose would leave her if she started complaining. This shows how the relationship turned quite quickly from happiness and affection to resenting and unhappiness. It also shows an example of lovers ending up in a sorry state as their relationship goes badly, as Gertrude dies after receiving the cure for her spookily withered arm. Hardy was also very interested in writing about fate and coincidence in his work for his readers. As this shows in the The Withered Arm . Rhoda feels such a strong dislike for Gertrude, her ex husbands new wife, that she subconsciously grasps her by the arm in a dream. Also, another strong coincidence is that Gertrude is told to receive her cure for the arm by pressing it against the neck of a hanged person.
