Community In S. E. Hinton s The Outsiders
S.E. Hinton s realistic fiction novel, The Outsiders takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1950
s. The Outsiders is about a small town where the town is divided into two social classes the
Greasers and the Socs. From the Socs perspective the Greasers are the low life junkies who are in
gangs even though they re really just in a less fortunate circumstances, and the Socs are the more
privileged kids. Ponyboy is the younger of his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. While some
believe the strongest theme is divided community, I argue that the strongest theme is loyalty, as
supported by S.E. Hinton s use of dialogue, characterization, and conflict. While it is easy to say
that the theme of The Outsiders is divided community. For example there are... Show more content

When the Socs and Greasers have a rumble, (Hinton 130), and all the Greaser gangs teamed up to
fight the Socs together.Next, the dialogue is when two or more characters are talking out loud
in a story, and their conversation are surrounded by quotation marks. Darry would be a Soc if It
wasn t for you and Soda, (Hinton 20). This is when Darry shows loyalty to his brothers and his
gang by not becoming a Soc. Dally may be a jerk but he is a Greaser and Greasers stick together,
(Hinton15). This quote means that Greasers are like family you stick up for them no matter
what. Also it shows how Pony thinks Dally is a jerk, but he considers him family.Secondly,
Characterization is when a character in the story or the narrator describes how a character acts
or looks like. Pony describes Soda as handsome like the movie star kind. (Hinton 10). This part
of characterization shows how soda could have say for example a movie star because most
actors have to be handsome, but he stayed with his brothers to help them out. Pony also describes
Darry as strong, confident, and too young to be running a family on his own if at all. (Hinton 10).
This piece of characterization shows how Darry doesn t turn his back on his brothers and leave
them he stays by their side to take care of them.Lastly, conflict is when one or more character are in
an argument or are physically fighting. One of the major conflicts is when Johnny runs

Rise Of The Islamic Empire Essay

Rise of the Islamic Empire
O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not,
then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed,
Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. (Quran 5:67) Prophet Muhammad PBUH, was born to
a branch of Quraish family. He was born to Abdullah Ibn Abd Al Muttalib and Amna Bint Wahab
in the year 570 C. He received his call which is the message from God carried by the angel
Gabriel to deliver the truth about God to his people. Prophet Muhammad PBUH, died in the year
632 C due to fever after that the Umma was in the hands of the Caliphate, which was then passed ...

The ramifications of this to the Islamic empire is that by winning the Ridda war, the Muslim
community or Umma was still in a sense united which kept the Muslims in power of Arabia.
Handing the Muslim Umma to such a capable leader like Abu Bakr made sure that the Muslim
community united which guaranteed that the Muslims were still in control of their further territories.
After the death of Abu Bakr the Caliphate was handed seamlessly to Omar bin Al Khattab in 643
and he ruled for ten years. His transmission to power was seamless because he was practising
power behind the scenes .Many would consider his administration of the Islamic nation as
successful and flourishing. After Muslims victory against the Byzantine in the battle of Yarmuk
empire, provided them with more land Palestine and Syria which helped Muslims with the
territorial expansion. Later, one of the richest cities in the Middle East, Alexandria have
surrendered to the Muslims too. The way Omar administered the territories of the Muslim state is
in a fashion where the people of the new conquered territories continue to live the way they used
to. Moreover, these newly conquered places would pay less money when compared to the previous
administration. Not only that, but also, when it became apparent that Muslim rule meant religious
freedom as well as lower taxes, the Arab had little difficulty in obtaining cooperation from some of
the local people. Which made the newly conquered areas satisfied with

Lawrence V. Hodges Case Study
The Fourteenth Amendment, which was approved amid the Reconstruction period to ensure the
privileges of minorities, is the law within the Lawrence v. Texas and Obergefell v. Hodges case.
In a Houston, Texas apartment five years back, nearby police were dispatched to answer reports of
gunfire. They legally entered the apartment of petitioner John Lawrence, who was engaging in sex
with another man. The two were arrested, convicted and fined $200. Texas statue making it illegal
for two individuals of the same sex to partake in sexual relationships with one another violated their
Fourteenth Amendment rights. The court justified that Lawrence and Garner were allowed to
exercise their liberty by engaging in private relations under the Due Process Clause.
The advancement of the Fourteenth Amendment, as indicated by Eric Foner in Our Living
Constitution , speaks on how to concede a protected right to security and to keep the administration
from forcing on that privilege is the foundation to this decision. Granting without acknowledging

officials violated the 14th Amendment denying the individuals the right to marry or lawfully marry
in another state given full recognition. One of the petitioners, Obergefell, had established a lasting

Navigating The Kitchens Was Surprisingly Easy
Navigating the kitchens was surprisingly easy. People were running around, focusing so much of
their attention on their own duties that they didn t even think twice about Maela and Ralan walking
through. The guild in charge of cooking was under the Harvest Guild, so green tunics and robes
were everywhere, although there was the occasional white of a knight. There were no blue
merchants or others in the yellow of the Craft Guild.
They were only stopped once, and that was by a Harvest Guild member. Ralan s explanation of
broken equipment needing fixed resulted in nothing more than a comment of Hurry up, dinner will
be served soon.
They had turned down yet another hallway when Ralan leaned over and whispered to Maela, Those

The carafes shattered on the floor, covering it in glass.
You idiots! You have ruined my dress whites! Enraged, the knight turned to the two Harvest guild
members who were issuing a stream of apologies.
Maela tugged on Ralan s arm, and they briskly walked past the knight, who had completely
forgotten about them.
When they were well past the knight, Ralan whispered, Did you plan for them to escort us?
People are clumsy, she replied, not even trying to hide her smile.
The defenses here aren t very good, Ralan noted as he and Maela looked through the door of the
prison dining hall. Prisoners were actually fed in their cells, so the hall itself was more of a room
for the jailors and a large prep area for taking food to the prisoners.
Maela turned and glared at Ralan. Nothing is ever easy. Don t forget that. Without a plan you
would have been captured in the Flats, on the Circle, and in the hallway back there. Maela took a
breath and then softened her voice. But you are correct about the defenses. But what is there to
defend? The prisons are well guarded, and who would attack the Knight Tower? They continued on.
The other side of the prison kitchen dining hall opened up to hallway off of the main atrium of the
prison part of the Tower. Unlike the small, cramped kitchen halls, the halls of the Tower proper
were wide and imposing. Knights walked through them at regular intervals. Also unlike the kitchen
halls, there weren t any other guild members in the Tower

Descriptive Essay About My Summer Vacation
It was a beautiful day to try something new at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California. It
was a long year in fourth grade, and my family and I were excited to start our summer vacation.
As we pulled our trailer on the southbound I 5 freeway towards San Diego, I could see the
temperature gauge on my father s truck slowly dropping to the mid 70 s. We were in a packed
car with my father, mother, older brother, younger sister, snacks and drinks everywhere, and me,
entranced by the game on my brand new iPod that I recently received on my birthday. I had gone
on camping trips my whole life so I was thrilled to go to a new beach and campground, but I was
bewildered when we pulled into a Costco parking lot. I asked my father, Why are we at... Show

The board came in a heat shrunk plastic cover with the fins, leash, and directions enclosed. We
ripped off the plastic cover like it was wrapping paper and gathered the tools we needed: a
quarter to fit the extremely large flathead hole on the top of the fins, a knife to cut the leash to the
desired length, and a black Sharpie to write our names on it. After we had finished, my father came
to inspect our work. He concluded his inspection by placing the surfboard in the back of the truck,
implying that we were successful and that it would be ready for tomorrow. I was entranced by the
thought of surfing, I dreamt all night about monstrous waves like in the movies, and gliding along
side dolphins as they played in the ocean. That morning I woke up like it was Christmas, early,
energized, curious, and excited. In preparation, I put on my swimsuit and practiced paddling and
popping up on my skateboard as I rode around the campground at seven o clock in the morning.
It seemed like forever until my family woke up and was finally ready to go to the beach. Luckily,
Mason and I only had to walk a total of 200 meters to get the board into the water; unfortunately,
half of the trek was through soft sand, and took over five minutes.
Eventually, we were ready to make our first surfing memories. Mason was elected to go first since
he was older and it was his present. My father waded into the water and pushed

Timber Shortages In The 1770s
This essay deals with the three shortages of masts and timber in the 1770s, 1803, and 1808, and
considers how the navy dealt with these shortages. In the War of American Independence and the
Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy often faced the risk of the shortages of these goods. In the second
half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian
Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain
could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on
the import of naval stores from several areas. Masts from Norway, Russia, and New England, pitch
and tar from Carolina, iron from Sweden, and hemp from Russia greatly contributed to British naval
power in the long eighteenth century. The dependant position... Show more content on

Although Albion s work is comprehensive and deals with the long term supply of woods, he pays
little attention to the contribution of the Baltic masts and timber for the navy in the War of
American Independence, as Knight points out. Knight, Gwyn, and Frost focus on the specific areas.
Morriss pays more attention to the European situation as he focuses on oak and hemp. Crimmin
deals with the only the early nineteenth century. Existing studies did not firmly draw a comparison
of the measures against the timber shortages and illustrate the relationship among the navy s
attempts of the procurement of masts and timber. This essay focuses on the continuity of the
measures against timber shortages and the effects of the procurement of masts and timber from one
area on that from other areas. These points allow us to understand the navy s view about the
procurement of wood products in wartime of the late eighteenth and the early nineteenth

Gentrification And Displacement Essay
Gentrification and displacement is not talked about as much as other social problems.
Gentrification happens when rich people come to urban communities and change the
socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of a community. Gentrification around the world is
mainly happening in poor urban communities. The comparison of the Netherlands, London and
Vancouver will explain cultural, social, and political displacement caused by the new age of urban
renewal. Big corporations build up urban communities which bring economic stability to
neighborhoods, and the low income residents are forced out. With an increase in social economic
input into the community rent is increased, food cost is increased, and low income families are

Gentrification is a problem that every country and city has experience rather they know it or not.
Countries are affected by this process and many of its civilians are left with nowhere to call their
home. Communities where they once lived turn into places they ve never seen before. To be forced
out of their own communities is only hurting the economic system of that city and/or country. The
people that are being displaced are minorities and being forced out their community is killing their
cultural. The residents will not be able to raise their children the same way they were brought up.
For example, going outside and playing with the neighborhood children. The minorities that are
getting kicked out will not able to stick together as a whole when moving to a different location.
Each resident might move to different countries or cities as a final resort where prices of rent or
mortgage will be lower. Some solutions that countries can use to limit or exterminate gentrification
together would be; helping the poor residents through government assistances. Some residents do
not have the proper income to continue living in the communities once the government or other
companies step in and attempt to renovate the community. Another solution to this social problem
would be if the government was more involved in helping the residents that are forced out to find
better housing or something similar to their current

My Observation Of Large Group Speech At The Iowa State...
While sitting between two of the best speech coaches in Northwest Iowa, I felt my heart race as
they began announcing the Critic s Choice Award for the ten different areas of large group
speech. The atmosphere was that of the Academy Awards in CY Stephens Auditorium at Iowa
State University for the 31st IHSSA All State Large Group Speech Festival on Saturday,
February 18. Students sat on the main level of the packed auditorium while family and friends
filled the balcony. As I glanced over at Joel Stauffer and Todd McDonald, I realized there was no
other place I would rather be. Our choral reading, Wild at Heart earned a chance to perform at the
festival. The only times our school has won a banner was in 1991 for the ensemble, Night
Mother under the direction of Mr. McDonald and in 1981 for duet acting. Earning a banner is a
hard thing to do. There are no classes in speech competition; all 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A schools are

Positive And Negative Effects Of Modern Technology
Modern Technology has had a great deal of influence on how we process information in the
twenty first Century. Business flourishes with the use of e mails to send for conferences or
important information in seconds, while the use of Skype has vastly increased how they interact
in conferences from all over the world. News was once posted once a day only through the papers
and television, if the information was not seen then it was not known to have happen whereas
today, anytime of the day, current or former information can be accessed. Children today will be
interacting with their friends in seconds and do not have to make plans ahead of time. However,
people have abused how the Internet was intended to be which has led to some undeniable, severe
consequences. Technologyhas negatively impacted how humans communicate through replacing the
human connection, making peoples attention span shorter than it used to be, and providing a need
for people to receive shallow and instant gratification about how people view a topic. Technological
devices, experts assure us, are becoming insensitive, instant human substitutes for the conventional
user. Sherry Turkle, a Doctor of Social Studies and Technology at MIT, states, We turn to machines

access, the right amount of control to distance people not too far or close (Turkle 2011). People are

The Ambassadors Character Analysis
Should someone back to a place they have learned to loathe after experiencing the greater aspects
of life? Should they break a promise in order to help someone else? The Ambassadors by Henry
James is an intriguing, and complex read. The way Henry James used peculiar wordage and
several different types of literary mechanics in The Ambassadorsare ingenious. He poses interesting
and difficult moral situations to the main character, Lambert Strether. The choice for morality
seems obvious at first, but then it makes the reader question their own morals. All of these elements
truly bring this novel together as a mental challenge.
In the Novel The Ambassadors the plot follows a young man, Lambert Strether, and his adventure
through Europe. He goes to Europe to retrieve his fiancee s son, Chad. So he, Waymarsh, and
Maria Gostrey travel to Paris in search of Chad. Strether thinks that Chad has been overtaken by a
malicious woman. But after seeing Chad, he realizes that maybe the woman has changed him for
the better, and questions the nobility and morality of his mission. Strether falls in love with Europe
and does not wish to leave, but now Chad does wish to return. Maria confesses her love for Strether
and begs him to stay with her in Europe. Strether declines, deciding that his morals are more
important than his wants. Strether, Waymarsh, and Chad return to the U.S.A.

Airport Perimeter Security
Airport operations, with the assistance and oversight of the Transportation Safety Administration
(TSA) are responsible for securing approximately 450 commercial airports in the United States.
Security breaches frequently occur when aviation employees misuse access privileges to smuggle
drugs and weapons onto planes and into restricted locations. While the majority of securityefforts
are focused on TSA screening checkpoints, recent incidents in unsecure areas have heighted threat
awareness and concerns. Consequently, many questions were raised following an active shooter
incident that occurred in a baggage claim area of the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International
Airport on January 6, 2017. The intense scrutiny placed at checkpoints in airports, but not on the

To further complicate matters, TSA has no clear structure for responsibility, accountability, and

the largest airports receiving the highest priority. Upon review, an evaluation of airport operations

1. Overview
At its very simplest level, Fordism refers to the production methods utilised by Henry Ford in his
car assembly plants at River Rouge and Highland Park in Detroit in the first two decades of the
twentieth century. In these plants, Ford further developed both the American System of

Although there are significant methodological, political and theoretical differences between the
regulationists and the institutionalists they both agree that sometime between 1965 and 1975
Fordism entered a period of crisis in which both mass production and mass consumption could no
longer be sustained because of the development of micro processor technology, the information
society and the increasing dis aggregation and fragmentation of customer demand. Out of this
crisis, arose a third aspect of Fordism, in which new forms of Labour Processes such as flexible
specialization and new flatter organizational forms replaced Taylorism and the bureaucratic
organization under the general aegis of the enterprise culture

Standardisation, Single Purpose Machinery and Flow line Mass Production
The main elements in the technical definition of Fordism are; Standardised Production and
Interchangeable parts; The use of dedicated single purpose machine tools; and Mechanised flow
line Mass production. The Model T was the mainstay of Fordist commodity production through the
decision in 1909 that the Ford company would only make Model T s and the runabout, touring car,
town car and delivery car would all consist of the same chassis (Hounsell, 1984: 227).

Buried Child Play Essay
Sam Shepherd s 1978 Buried child play introduces its audience to a dark, twisted plot revolving
around a family based in Illinois whose secrets are revealed. Shepard explores various themes such
as the conventional family and how within all nuclear families there is dysfunction, Religion and
how it s used as a coping mechanism and how the events of the past have significance in the

The American Dream was a concept introduced in the 1950 s, Post World War 2. Moving forward
from the depression Eisenhower developed a unique rubric for America to follow that created a
whole new base of unrealistic, achievable expectations. America became one of the most
economically thriving countries, but due to an almost instantaneous advancement in technology, it
further fuelled corruption as a result of over consumption. Notions such as the nuclear family were
important to individuals. The fantasy of having a perfect, functional family was an aspiration for
most families as it resembled success and superiority within their community. Luxurious living was
considered a major necessity in the same category as basic human requirements i.e Food, Shelter,
Clothing. Sam Shepard rejects this notion as he shows that there is always challenges and disorder

marrow. Since the patient had an open fracture, this allowed for bacteria and viruses to get past
the skin and enter into the bone. This greatly increases his risk for osteomyelitis. Also, having to
have surgery to fix the fracture also increases the risk. Infection could be caused in the bone as
well as septic joints during joint replacement surgery can all lead to osteomyelitis. There can also
be infections that occur during the healing process after surgery that lead to osteomyelitis. Overall,
anything that will keep the wound open and allow possible bacteria and viruses into the body can

Mrs. Ferguson s An Emotional Breakdown
Mrs. Ferguson sniffled. Out of her nose oozed a slimy strand of pale, green liquid. Her runny
nose was not caused by the cold, though it was very cool this time of year. No, she had in fact
just lost her 45 year old husband, who had been murdered. When she had received word of the
tragic event, she had suffered an emotional breakdown. She had desperately demanded to know
who the killer was, but the man who she was speaking with on the phone had told her that the police
had no idea, but they were investigating. She had hung up, and cried constantly. By the time her
tears had stopped spilling, her cheeks had been covered with a crusty coating of dried tears.Need
descriptive words. Currently, she was at the local cemetery, where all around, freshly fallen
snow twinkled and glistened on the once green ground. The pale gray pathway had been
shoveled, however, so that people could get around the cemetery easily. Mrs. Ferguson was
listening attentively to the pastor, who was describing Mr. Ferguson s life. Only Mr. Ferguson s
close family had been invited to attend the funeral, so they all knew every detail of his life, but
it was common practice to read it all anyways. Bobby Ferguson had been a doctor. An
anesthesiologist, to be precise. Whenever someone was to have surgery or give birth, for
example, he would give them medicine to make them sleep until the pain of it was over. Now,
Mrs. Ferguson thought gloomily, it was his turn to rest. It had been Bobby s goal to be a

Davidhizar Transcultural Assessment Model
Korean Children and Family Health Within America s Healthcare System
The purpose of this paper is to apply the Giger and Davidhizar Transcultural Assessment Model to
the Korean culture focusing on children and family relationships within the American healthcare
system. I was interested in learning how the beliefs, values, and traditions of the Korean culture
influence the care they receive within America s healthcare system. I chose to research the Korean
culture because I have an uncle that was raised in South Korea and I have noticed many
differences in the way he raises his children and views his family responsibilities. A culture s
behavior generally reflects their cultural values, so with differing cultures comes differing values
and behaviors. It is important for nurses to become sensitive to these differing values, so that they
can better understand patient s behaviors and how to effectively care for them. For a nurse to
become culturally competent, they must begin by recognizing their own cultural values and biases,
and be sensitive to how other cultures differ from their own. Then, they must attempt to learn,
understand, and apply other s cultural values and beliefs while caring for them. The Giger and

The assessment model includes six phenomena which are: communication, time, space, social
organization, environmental control, and biological variations (Giger Davidhizar, 2002). Culture
influences the interactions between nurse and patient. As a nurse, there is a responsibility to not
only recognize different cultural norms and accommodate for them, but to also adapt one s own
thinking and behavior when working interculturally (Catalano, 2015).

Rapid Modernisation Of Armed Forces
There are a variety of reasons for the rapid modernisation of armed forces in the Southeast Asia
region interstate and regional tensions exist within Southeast Asia and interactive military
programmes have developed as a result, and there has been a rapid build up of military capabilities.
Additionally, there has been advances in technology, creating a need for states to modernise their
armed forces to be able to compete and military advancement in the region has contributed to the
security dilemma in Southeast Asia, leading to further arms build up. Most importantly, there is
evidence of the beginnings of an arms race in Southeast Asia, which also explains the modernisation
of armed forces. Thus, the reasons for the rapid modernisation of armed forces in the Southeast Asia
region are the consequences of interstate and regional tensions, technological advancement, the
growing security dilemma and the beginning of an arms race.
Interstate and Regional Tensions
Throughout Southeast Asia, there are a number of relationships between state actors that are
marked by mutual distrust, and these bilateral relationships fuel the arms race within Asia due to
security concerns. These distrustful relationships between nations have their root causes in
historical animosities, racial and religious divisions or competition for influence and resources
(Richardson 1990: 24). Problematic relations in the region include, and are not limited to: North
and South Korea, Taiwan and China,

How Did Norman Bates Become A Psycho
A loving and conscientious man; hardworking and dedicated, who desires to live in a better
society. That was the world s first impression of Norman Bates, but behind the charm was his
hidden personality. So, how does someone like him, become a psycho? Was Norman Bates, born a
psycho, or was he turned into one because of his environment? There are many perspectives of
psychologythat will provide a fuller understanding of Norman Batesbehavior.
From a Psychodynamic perspective, Norman s behavior springs from unconscious desires and
childhood conflicts. Norman s unconscious desires are to please his mother. Based on the Famous
novel, Psycho, Norman s mother, was very controlling. She mentally and physically abused him;
and also drilled into his brain that all women, except herself, are dirty, untrustworthy, and evil. She
taught him to never let himself have feelings for women. Once Norman was physically attracted to
a woman, he would black out and murder her. When he snapped out of it, he wouldn t remember a
thing. His unconscious state, unlocked many unconscious motives. Norman s behavior reflects his
childhood conflicts with his mother. From a Psychodynamic perspective, Norman was turned ...

before, Norma Bates is also unstable and her actions display a mental illness, which can be the
cause of Norman s abnormality. Next, there is the social cultural stance, which would claim that
peer pressure, or stress from society is a causing factor. The combination of these three
perspectives, indicate that not only one factor causes people, in this case Norman, to act out or to

Religious Conflict Through the Ages Essay
Religious Conflict Through the Ages
The role religion plays in world history is, at best, tremendous. Through the ages, religion has both
unified and divided civilizations often bringing extreme human casualty, in the case of division, or
creating interesting new cultures, in the case of the latter. In the Ancient civilizations such as the
Greek, Kush and Egyptian empires religion serves as a catalyst further strengthening the bond found
in such homogeneous societies. In these civilizations it is important to note that the inhabitants did
not conceive of religion in terms of a belief system in a higher moral authority, rather, the belief
system was such a part of their lifestyle that there was no differentiation. In discussing ... Show

However, three distinctions can be outlined in this discussion. Firstly, religion serves as a catalyst
further unifying homogeneous civilizations such as the Greek, Ku*censored*e and Egyptian
societies, secondly, religion serves as a primary focus of difference when two homogeneous
societies, such as the Muslims and the Christians involve themselves in a conflict for spiritual
dominance, and, thirdly, how religion, in some homogenous societies such as the Protestant
Reformation of the late Tudor and early Stuart dynasties in England, serves to divide the people.
Religious observance in ancient civilizations serves to further bridge the connectedness that the
people of those societies felt. In the ancient Greek, Ku*censored*e and and Egyptian cultures
religion was such a integral part of their lifestyle that it was totally indistinguishable in terms of
contemporary classifications. The ancient Greeks held close to a common polytheistic belief
system and operated the government, domestic lifestyle, and recreation from this system. The
evidence is abounds in that the Olympic Games were held at the feast of Zeus at Olympia in Elis,
and the Pythian Games were held at Delphi, in honor of Apollo. Although the Greeks were

The Struggle For Power In Tim Rice s Eva Peron
Tim Rice created Evita in 1976 but it didn t debut until 1979 on Broadway. It was based on the
life of Eva Peron, who ended up being the most famous First Lady of Argentina. In a recent
interview with Mark Shenton, Tim Rice said that he heard about Eva Peron on the radio and
remember her from a stamp he saw as a child. That moment was enough to make Rice interested in
Eva Peron s life story. This all happened in 1973 twenty one years after Eva Peron had already
passed away. Along with Andrew Lloyd Webber, they created a pop rock opera that told of her rise
to fame. The play was very successful and even was later turned into a movie directed by Alan
Parker, starring Madonna as Eva Peron in 1996. The main character of this play is Eva Peron...

The play had both political and social themes. The one social movement in the play that appeals
to the female audience was the Women Right s Movement. Eva is displayed as a woman who
takes charges and is independent in life and love. She is the perfect example of everything the
Women Right s Movement is trying to do. The play challenged normal gender roles by showing
a woman in power. All the other First Ladies before Eva Peron didn t participate in politics. They
follow their husband s orders and donate to charity here and there. Eva Peron did take a major role
in the fight for women s right in Argentina. In 1947 she promoted the new Peronist law for women
right to vote. Another theme that related to the country current state was the political unrest.
During the 1970 America was experiencing many political issues. Between the Vietnam War,
which was widely opposed, and the Watergate Scandal, which cause Nixon to resign, the country s
distrust in their government was strong. This similar political issue was shown in the song The
Lady Got Potential with armed military removing and instated different presidential elected. There
was also several scenes of riot and rally for government change shown in the movie. This is also

Significance Of The ANZAC Legend
The ANZAC spirit was born on the twenty fifth of April 1915, on this day Australian soldiers
landed upon the shores of Gallipoli to serve their country for the first time in war. Each year
Australians celebrate the mateship, courage and heroism the ANZAC soldiers showed on that day.
Although, people tend to depict these soldiers as victims of a catastrophic trauma, yet this
passionate sacrifice is what gave Australiaits name. Furthermore, there is word of discussion about
the truth behind the accuracy of the ANZAC legend. Evidence demonstrates that the ANZAC
legend is an accurate portrayal of what occurred the day the ANZAC S landed in Gallipoli. The
legend of mateship, heroism, courage and bravery is an accurate representation of the fighting
Australian and New Zealand soldiers in world war one.
After the ANZACs landed in Gallipoli, they were in combat for approximately eight and a half
months. Throughout this long and tedious period of time the soldiers went through many
traumatic experiences. Although, when looking in the face of death the soldiers were able to
have a spirit of mateship to make conditions bearable. To support this, a governor general stated in
an article posted in two thousand and eight, they gave their lives for a supreme cause in gallant
comradeship with the rest of my soldiers who fought and died with them. This source is exclaiming
that the soldiers would put their fellow comrades before themselves as mateship was prioritised by
them. Because of

Siegfried Sassoon
Suicide in the trenches
Title and Author: Suicide in the Trenches is a poem written by Siegfried Sassoon. Sassoon wrote
this poem during his First World War military service and published in his 1918 collection: Counter
Attack and Other Poems
Form and style
This poem is a lyric which contains of three stanzas each containing four lines. This is written in
rhyming couplets, the style of the poem seems very simple and song like
War is destructive of youth and innocence. There is a change in mood where the first stanza talks
about the despair when he is in the trenches. In the third stanza we move to the poet s anger about
the way that people at home feel

* The last stanza from lines nine to twelve, is a satirical view of Sassoon s greatest criticism and
determination to revenge of those smug faced crowds , in verse 9, who cheer when soldiers
march by , in verse 10. He hated those who considered to be making a profit out of the war and
those who were happy and proud their children going to serve their country: This creates a patriotic
feeling.
Moods/ Feelings * Bitter * Conscious * Anger * Rage * Antagonism * Resentment * The
dominant mood of this poem is anger but there is also a feeling of sadness and sorrow about the
young man s death.
Personal Evaluation
In my opinion war is evil and this poem gives us a good view on the reality of war and its
consequences. This poem mainly criticises on the horrors of the war, the health conditions of the
soldiers, the loneliness they had to face, patriotism of soldiers and the lack of resources that
soldiers faced in the trenches. it made me think how inhumane the world that we are a part of is,
that such horrible and indecent acts could be committed by humans. Having a young boy take such
drastic measures is beyond my understanding for the time, the year which this poem was written

Nurses should be full partners, with physicians and other health professionals, in redesigning health
care in the United States. 4. Effective workforce planning and policy making require better data
collection and information infrastructure. What I took from those four main issues is the
importance for nurses to continue with their training, so that those currently in the nursing
profession would be more competent, with a larger range of responsibilities. Through that further
nursing education and making programs more accessible to the nursing profession to achieve a
higher level of education. Nurses are the ones that are delivering care; therefore nurses should be
active in regards to resigning of health care. Nurses need to speak and be able, have input into the
implementation of health care systems. In my opinion, the report re invents health care in
America. Nurses are the largest part of the health workforce. They are often seen as the most
trusted in the health care profession. From what I understood, it lets APNs work towards their
fullest potential in being able to provide quality, effective, safe care. The ability to work
independently and no longer hinders the APN to provide full primary care services.

Like an ordinary stock trade, two parties will work through their respective brokers, to transact a
futures trade. An investor can only trade in the futures contracts that are supported by each
exchange. In contrast, forwards are entirely customized and all the terms of the contract are
privately negotiated between parties. They can be keyed to almost any conceivable underlying asset
or measure. The settlement date, notional amount of the contract and settlement form (cash or
physical) are entirely up to the parties to the contract. * Forwards entail both market risk and credit
risk. Those who engage in futures transactions assume exposure to default by the exchange s
clearing house. For OTC derivatives, the exposure is to default by the counterparty who may fail to
perform on a forward. The profit or loss on a forward contract is only realized at the time of
settlement, so the credit exposure can keep increasing. * With futures, credit risk mitigation
measures, such as regular mark to market and margining, are automatically required. The exchanges
employ a system whereby counterparties exchange daily payments of profits or losses on the days
they occur. Through these margin payments, a futures contracts market value is effectively reset to
zero at the end of each trading day. This all but eliminates credit risk. * The daily cash flows
associated with margining can skew futures prices, causing them to diverge from

Garcia-Marquez s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Essay
Garcia Marquez s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Symbolism is often used to subtlely
enhance a story s meaning by adding emphasis and details to the story line. However, Garcia
Marquez, in A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , cloaks his tale for children in a dreamlike
quality conveyed purely through symbolism. Clues to his intended meaning can be drawn from the
old winged man whom the story revolves around, from the metamorphous of the family who take

that are different and perhaps alien. He also represents those who are unable to contribute in any

the angel s presence, but yet do not wish to repeat the experience. This fact is evidenced in the

The Revolt Of The Cockroach People
Mexican Americans in Texas have a long and detailed history spanning from the arrival of
Cortez all the way to the present day. Through historical events, the culture and identity of
Mexican Americans have shifted, diverted, and adapted into what people chose to identify as.
The rise of the Chicano identity during the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement was an
adaptation as a culture to oppressive and unjust treatment from white, Anglos that had almost all
political and social power over all minorities. To stop the oppressive voices from silencing and
oppressing the Mexican Americans, they had to stand up to fight for their rights as American
citizens that also had Mexican or Spanish heritage to be proud of. In Oscar Zeta Acosta s novel,
The Revolt of the Cockroach People, he dives into the Chicano Movement as a witness and an
active participant. His larger than life character is on the front lines of the movement and
examines the shift in identity among the group. It was particularly rising of their Chicano identity
that gave the people cause to organize politically and socially in order to fight for a worthy cause.
One aspect of the Chicano identity that gave rise to the Chicano Movement is the power of
reviving gender roles. The revival of the traditional roles gave Chicano men the desire to assert
themselves as the dominate gender to conquer the past oppressions from whites. Traditional roles
for men in Anglo, Spanish, and Mexican cultures dictate the men as the

Antarctic krill are usually less than 6 cm in length but their size belies the major role they play in
sustaining much of the life in the Southern Ocean. They are the primary food source for many
species of whales, seals, penguins and fish.
Studies have shown that stocks of krill in Antarctica have declined dramatically in recent years.
The reason for this is likely to be a fall in the amount of sea ice in the winter months in the Antarctic
Peninsula region.
Krill numbers in this region may have dropped by as much as 80% since the 1970 s so today s
stocks are a mere 1/5th of what they were only 30 years ago. The decline in krill may in turn
account for the decline in the numbers of some penguin species.

Persuasive Essay On Foster Children
According to, The National Research Center for Permanency and Family Connections, A number
of studies published over the past two decades have found high rates of homelessness among
former foster youth who aged out of care (1). The Covenant House who provides open doors to
troubled children and youth stated that, 23,000 27,000 youth age out of foster careevery year (1).
Large numbers of foster youth are becoming homeless because of insufficient foster homes and
group homes, unprepared foster parents who take in many foster kids, and foster parents not
providing adequately. Issues in the foster care system is not a new issue; there is no true way to
fix the system completely, but there are improvements that can be made. Fostering of children can
be dated back to biblical times, and it can still be seen worldwide today. There are smaller issues
and bigger issues in the system, but they all work together to influence each other. Therefore,
creating larger problems that are quite difficult to control. Ideally, you want these troubled kids to
have a home where they feel welcomed and loved.
As the need for nationwide foster care systems rises, the quality of foster homes decreases. There
is a large need to have these kids in a home, and therefore families are taking in a large amount of
foster kids. Consequently, the families cannot adequately provide for the kids that they are housing.
Therefore, the foster kids that they couldn t provide for are sent to a group home. The

The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process
The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act
of unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters
Ross, 2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to
hash out labor relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations
disputes between employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy
and for the consumers. Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship
between the employees and management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The
collective bargaining process allows for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the

Answer:
While computing D/E ratio or D/V and E/V ratio, we always use only long term capital (debt, pref
stock, equity). So D = 400 and E = 1600 in this case and V = sum of both = 2000
Thus, we get Wd = 0.2 and We = 0.8. This will be used in all of the three problems, since its not

Kdat = 7.2 %, Ke = 18%. Hence we get WACC = 15.84%

How Does Mrs Joe Portrayed In Great Expectations
The characters images in Great Expectations can be altered due to the first person point of view of
Pip. Many characters show up throughout the story with specific relations to Pip. Mrs Joe is his
sister, Estella is his love interest, and Magwitch his his benefactor. Charles Dickens intensifies
Characterization in his novelGreat Expectationsto show how Mrs.Joe, Havisham, and Magwitch are
viewed differently from Pip s eyes compared to other characters in the story.
Mrs.Joe is a character that is seen as terrifying and irrationally mean through Pip s eyes. Through
Pip s description, the reader naturally feels sympathetic towards Pip in almost every given
situation. For example, in chapter two when Mrs.Joe threatens Pip with the tar water and the
tickler. The reader sees the story through one set of eyes, leading them to believe Mrs.Joe is a
jerk just because she can be like that and prove her dominance. However, other characters may
have viewed her actions differently. For example, in chapter four, Mr.Wopsle, Pumblechook, and
Mrs.Joe are all criticizing Pip. Viewing this from Pip s eyes points the ... Show more content on

Because of the ordeal that occurred on Havisham s wedding day, she decided to raise Estella as a
weapon against men. Hence the invitation to play at her house to Pip introduced in chapter
seven. In the beginning of the book, all of the adults in Pip s life are dazed by the fact that
Havisham wants Pip to come to the house. All of the adults view Havisham as a wealthy woman
who may bring Pip up into a life full of wealth. The adults feel ecstatic that Pip is getting this
opportunity. However, Pip is scared of Havisham and often doesn t want to return to Satis House.
Pip and the adults are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum. Neither Pip nor the adults know
that Havisham is inviting Pip over to hurt him. However, Pip is the one experiencing the house and

James Bond Sex And Violence Analysis
Within James Bond s universe, sex and violence are often the same thing.
James gun is used not as an extension of his penis, but as his penis. When in M tells him that he
is going to need a new gun because his old one no longer suffices, Fleming describes Bond s
relationship with his old gun using masturbatory terms, describing how Bond had dismantled the
gun and oiled it and packed the bullets carefully into the spring loaded magazine and tried the
action once or twice, pumping the cartridges out onto the bedspread in some hotel bedroom in Dr.
No, (025,), and in a celebration of pre existent vocabulary Bond can often be seen resting his hand
on the butt of his gun. (CR, 008)
Similarly, acts of violence are described in ways that invite the imagining of sexual acts. In the
testicular torture scene from Casino Royale, where cool Le Chiffre flogs Bond with a carpet
beater, only Fleming chooses to describe Bond s response to the torture rather than the torture
itself, and when reading the responses selectively one might think Bond s body is responding to
physical pleasure rather than pain. Fleming writes, Bond s whole body arched in an involuntary
spasm. His face contracted in a soundless scream and his lips drew right away from his teeth. At the

In dealing with men, villains, Bond prefers to use his gun to persuade them ( times when its
threat alone had been enough to save his life) or take them out when persuasion is not an option.
When it comes to women, however, Bond s penis is usually sufficient persuasion. Pussy Galore
changes sides after sleeping with Bond (both on the field of sexual preference and loyalty of
service), Vesper Lynd does too, though rather more dramatically, and for Solitaire her attraction to
Bond is the reason she helps him, and trusts him. He is more of a man than, ironically, Mr Big

Gaming serve up that and then some in new game Duelling for Dollars!
Dueling for Dollars Review
In the world of online casino play, there is a small selection of names that command more
attention than others, with Galaxy Gaming certainly standing tall as one of them. Starting life all
the way back in 2006, for over a decade they have been known as a name that players can count
on. Helping push Galaxy Gaming to the very next level in the eyes of many are its efforts in the
instant play market. The company has been working tirelessly to take popular table game variants
and give them a video overhaul. When you lock eyes on the likes of Duelling ... Show more content

Speed runs absolutely rampant here, as it lives up to its ultimate no brainer tag, with play
handled in just a single click. What this game represents as the name implies is a form a high
card battle. So, it s one deck, two cards, and a true test of bottle, with players battling the dealer in
order to win big. We love games that just get to the point, with Duelling for Dollars doing that in a
rather spectacular fashion.
Duelling for Dollars is incredibly fun to play, but it does carry a few issues when it comes to
payouts, as this game just isn t as stacked as other Galaxy Gaming titles. Most of the payouts in
this game are token offerings at best, ranging between $20 and just a $1. Free Duelling for Dollars
is a really fun game, but when it comes to prizes it s a case of little and often.
From Single Card to a Super Win!
Honestly, anyone of any skill level should be able to play free Duelling for Dollars with minimal
fuss. Things kick off when you decide on your wager, then you just need to update any side bets
you wish to invoke before officially starting the game. After doing the aforementioned, you ll be
dealt a single card (so will the dealer), with the highest card of the two winning the game round.
This game really is just that simple when it comes to understanding how to play.

The Problem With 24 Hour News
Dustin Wisby English II Ms. Stewart 9 21 2014 The Problem with 24 Hour News biasness of
each During any breaking news segment on any 24 hour news coverage channel there seems to
always be problems and mistakes that are made by reporters for not having the correct
information on the story. Also when there is no significant stories to report on there seems to be
a cycle of information that each news channel tries to throw at you. Examples of this would be
presidential stories, repeating stories over and over, and so on. Just imagine if one had to have
something to say constantly about anything and everything they could find. Would that not get
annoying listening to one person speak all day every day about anything they could find. So why
do we have these problems and is it even good for the people of the United States to have twenty
four hour news channels? At the beginning of television news an arrangement existed between
television journalists and the public. It was look at as that in modern times promotion journalism
was normal. The United States was the modern, broadminded leader of the free world. When
Walter Cronkite reported on the daily count of deaths of American soldiers in Vietnam, in lead to
the antiwar disapprovals of the 1960s. One man changed how the United States look at the war
with his power and influence to change people opinions. (Mann) With rise of CNN, the first 24

Aphasia Vocabulary
According to sources, Aphasia is described as a communication disorder that usually affects the use
of acquired spoken or written language (Halpern Goldfarb, 2013). Patients that have been diagnosed
with aphasia in general usually have difficulties with auditory understanding, reading
comprehension, written language difficulties and of course difficulty in spoken language
expression (Halpern Goldfarb, 2013). One of the most essential areas that patients with aphasiawant
to see improvements in is the ability to have functional spoken communication (Mayer, 2003). It is
vital that clinicians focus on the needs of the patient by introducing the patient to different therapy
techniques that will benefit them outside of the treatment environment... Show more content on

A topic of discussion researchers and studies have investigated proves that patients that are
categorized under fluent aphasia are patients that display difficulty with using their thoughts to
formulate language that is understood (Halpern Goldfarb, 2013). With that being said individuals
with fluent aphasia usually produce speech that is normal in terms of length, articulation and do
not require much effort to state verbally (Halpern Goldfarb, 2013). While that may be simple for
patients diagnosed with fluent aphasia, communicating thoughts for listeners to understand is
much more difficult (Raymer Kohen, 2003). Individuals that have anomic aphasia are well aware
of mistakes made and are usually not successful when trying to correct their errors (Halpern
Goldfarb, 2013). When errors are not successfully repaired these individuals become discouraged
(Halpern Goldfarb, 2013). The idea of spoken language becomes much more difficult for these
individuals because, these individuals know what exactly it is they want to produce but, their
diagnoses makes it very difficult to do so (Halpern Goldfarb,

John Bowlby And Mary Ainsworth s Attachment Theories
John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth s attachment theories derive from the idea that in early
development infants develop different attachment behaviors in relation to their caregivers. This
emotional bond between an infant and their parents can have an enduring impact on future
relationships throughout an individual s life. Research has shown that there does not have to be a
biological component for an infant to bond with a parent. Instead the bond or attachment is related
to quality and quantity of interaction between parent and child. (Boyd, Bee, p. 130) There are four
main attachment styles; secure attachment, insecure/avoidant attachment, insecure/ambivalent
attachment, and insecure/disorganized attachment. (Boyd, Bee, p. 133) Each of the four attachment
styles come with a variety of associated characteristics and behaviors. For example: a child who
develops a secure attachment will be an active explorer, easily soothed, and prefers their mother
over a stranger. In comparison an infant who develops an insecure/avoidant attachment avoid
contact with their mother and has no preference in interaction with their mother over a stranger.
Insecure children will not resist interaction from their mother, but they do not seek. Infants who
have secure attachment will often seek contact and interaction with their mother. (Boyd, Bee, p.
133) Growing up I had a very nurturing and loving environment. Even though I am one of seven
children my needs were always met by my parents

Evaluation Company Q s attitude toward social responsibility reflects a negative reputation on them
as a corporation in their current community. The geographical location in a major metropolitan area
should sustain the business with a solid consumer base and maintain reliance of current investors.
However, they closed two stores in high crime areas for consistently losing profits, waning investor

The company can use these requests to poll which products that the customers would most likely
want to purchase. This way Company Q can zero in on satisfying their customers and eliminate
products that have the least amount of demand. A second opportunity that presents itself is
establishing new supplier relationships within the local community by generating partnerships
between Company Q and organic producers. By the company forming new relationships with local
producers the local economy is strengthened and new development encouraged in the community.
The purchase of organic products from local vendors will also keep transportation expenses down
and Company Q can then forward that savings to customers by offering lower prices.Company Q
would benefit greatly from this action by offering a broader range of health conscience products
and partnering with local suppliers. These relationships will supplement Company Q in changing
their approach to being socially responsible.
Action 3 A third recommendation is to revisit the decision of donating day old products to the area
s local food banks. By denying the request all together and opting to toss out the day old products
is damaging to Company Q s image. The company needs to exhibit accountability to society by
supporting their local food bank illustrating community support by offering day old products to
their local food bank. Company Q should then monitor donations with a checks and balances system

Upton Sinclair s The Food Industry

Upton Sinclair
Upton Sinclair, the most influential writer regarding the food industry was born in Baltimore
1879. Growing up in a poor family with an alcoholic father was difficult for Upton (Simkin, John).
Upton often lived with his wealthy grandparents during his childhood due to the instability in his
own home. Moving from his poor parents house to his grandparents rich house constantly made
him see the injustice in the American society, this made him become a radical socialist as young as
his early teens. At 14, Upton being the intelligent and independent man he was, started attending
New York City College. In order to make money to pay for his tuition, apartment, and still provide
for his family, Upton sold magazines and news articles of his socialistic ideas. The childhood Upton
struggled through with family and financial problems only made him strive to change the
conditions of America in his writing.
Sinclair s writing started to become very eminent in the early 1900 s, and by the age of 16 his
book The Jungle changes the food industry forever. In 1905 Sinclair was hired to work in
Packingtown Chicago for a meat processing company for a pay of $500 ( $13,513.51 today s
money) (Upton Sinclair Hits Readers in the Stomach). For two months Sinclair worked in the
meatpacking industry, afterwards, he went into solitude for nine months to write about the details
of the industry. The meat would be shoveled into carts,

Alternative Energy And The Use Of Fossil Fuels Essay
.DOC .PDF
AuthorLastName2
Alternative Energy and the Use of Fossil Fuels The role of energy in human life dates back to as
far as the ages of civilization where ancient people needed fire not only for comfort but also for
cooking (Michaelides 1). In the modern digital world, everyone has his or her uses of energy with
other similar uses all of which affects the life of everyone. Notably, there is the production and use
of energy in varying forms like in automobiles, airplanes, and manufacturing plants. Conversely,
with the global trend in need for a sustainable earth, the shift from environmentally unhealthy
energy sources has led to the public call for alternative energy sources (IEA 9). The transition to
alternative energy sources aims at conserving the natural resources as well as protecting the
environment. The energy sources include fossil fuels, the wind, geothermal, hydropower, solar
and nuclear power applied in various uses modern life operations locally and internationally
(Brkić 36 and Wadud et al. 18). However, although there is a globalized rise in the use of fossil
fuels, the environmental and climatic implications calls for the shift to alternative energy sources.
Through the analysis of alternative and fossil fuels, the essay provides an elaborate explanation
useful in the maintenance of a sustainable world. The global application of alternative energy bases
on the need to ensure the protection of the environment as well as natural resources.

In 1912, a year after dissolution of the Rockefeller Trust, company scientist William Burton and
his colleague, Robert Humphreys, received a patent for the thermal cracking process that doubled
the yield of gasoline from a barrel of crude oil, while also boosting its octane rating. Headquartered

The French Revolution was a quest for liberty, and centered on people who wanted their freedom.
They wanted to be treated as equal participants in the community, not as slaves for the royals or

Brotherhood was not only sticking by each other in your community but brotherhood within the

was if one were to follow the path of liberty and equality as a free pact. Brotherhood was a way of
life for people during the revolution it was how they were able to find a moment of peace in all
the bad around them. To act toward someone with the spirit of brotherhood is to accept them as
they are, and treat them as you would want to be treated. Even if the government was not doing
this, the peasants and the lower class people knew that to survive they needed each other. One

was a big conflict in the French Revolution, between humility and the intoxication of power
napoleon was his hands full of dangerous hubris. This is a natural human trait that can be negative

  • 2. Community In S. E. Hinton s The Outsiders S.E. Hinton s realistic fiction novel, The Outsiders takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1950 s. The Outsiders is about a small town where the town is divided into two social classes the Greasers and the Socs. From the Socs perspective the Greasers are the low life junkies who are in gangs even though they re really just in a less fortunate circumstances, and the Socs are the more privileged kids. Ponyboy is the younger of his two brothers Darry and Sodapop. While some believe the strongest theme is divided community, I argue that the strongest theme is loyalty, as supported by S.E. Hinton s use of dialogue, characterization, and conflict. While it is easy to say that the theme of The Outsiders is divided community. For example there are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Socs and Greasers have a rumble, (Hinton 130), and all the Greaser gangs teamed up to fight the Socs together.Next, the dialogue is when two or more characters are talking out loud in a story, and their conversation are surrounded by quotation marks. Darry would be a Soc if It wasn t for you and Soda, (Hinton 20). This is when Darry shows loyalty to his brothers and his gang by not becoming a Soc. Dally may be a jerk but he is a Greaser and Greasers stick together, (Hinton15). This quote means that Greasers are like family you stick up for them no matter what. Also it shows how Pony thinks Dally is a jerk, but he considers him family.Secondly, Characterization is when a character in the story or the narrator describes how a character acts or looks like. Pony describes Soda as handsome like the movie star kind. (Hinton 10). This part of characterization shows how soda could have say for example a movie star because most actors have to be handsome, but he stayed with his brothers to help them out. Pony also describes Darry as strong, confident, and too young to be running a family on his own if at all. (Hinton 10). This piece of characterization shows how Darry doesn t turn his back on his brothers and leave them he stays by their side to take care of them.Lastly, conflict is when one or more character are in an argument or are physically fighting. One of the major conflicts is when Johnny runs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rise Of The Islamic Empire Essay Maryam Al Harthy Dr. Abdullah Al Arian History 04 September 2017 Rise of the Islamic Empire O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. (Quran 5:67) Prophet Muhammad PBUH, was born to a branch of Quraish family. He was born to Abdullah Ibn Abd Al Muttalib and Amna Bint Wahab in the year 570 C. He received his call which is the message from God carried by the angel Gabriel to deliver the truth about God to his people. The ramifications of this to the Islamic empire is that by winning the Ridda war, the Muslim community or Umma was still in a sense united which kept the Muslims in power of Arabia. Handing the Muslim Umma to such a capable leader like Abu Bakr made sure that the Muslim community united which guaranteed that the Muslims were still in control of their further territories. After the death of Abu Bakr the Caliphate was handed seamlessly to Omar bin Al Khattab in 643 and he ruled for ten years. His transmission to power was seamless because he was practising power behind the scenes .Many would consider his administration of the Islamic nation as successful and flourishing. After Muslims victory against the Byzantine in the battle of Yarmuk empire, provided them with more land Palestine and Syria which helped Muslims with the territorial expansion. Later, one of the richest cities in the Middle East, Alexandria have surrendered to the Muslims too. The way Omar administered the territories of the Muslim state is in a fashion where the people of the new conquered territories continue to live the way they used to. Moreover, these newly conquered places would pay less money when compared to the previous administration. Not only that, but also, when it became apparent that Muslim rule meant religious freedom as well as lower taxes, the Arab had little difficulty in obtaining cooperation from some of the local people. Which made the newly conquered areas satisfied with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Texas and Obergefell v. Hodges case. In a Houston, Texas apartment five years back, nearby police were dispatched to answer reports of gunfire. They legally entered the apartment of petitioner John Lawrence, who was engaging in sex with another man. The two were arrested, convicted and fined $200. Texas statue making it illegal for two individuals of the same sex to partake in sexual relationships with one another violated their Fourteenth Amendment rights. The court justified that Lawrence and Garner were allowed to exercise their liberty by engaging in private relations under the Due Process Clause. The advancement of the Fourteenth Amendment, as indicated by Eric Foner in Our Living Constitution , speaks on how to concede a protected right to security and to keep the administration from forcing on that privilege is the foundation to this decision. People were running around, focusing so much of their attention on their own duties that they didn t even think twice about Maela and Ralan walking through. The guild in charge of cooking was under the Harvest Guild, so green tunics and robes were everywhere, although there was the occasional white of a knight. There were no blue merchants or others in the yellow of the Craft Guild. They were only stopped once, and that was by a Harvest Guild member. Ralan s explanation of broken equipment needing fixed resulted in nothing more than a comment of Hurry up, dinner will be served soon. Enraged, the knight turned to the two Harvest guild members who were issuing a stream of apologies. Maela tugged on Ralan s arm, and they briskly walked past the knight, who had completely forgotten about them. When they were well past the knight, Ralan whispered, Did you plan for them to escort us? People are clumsy, she replied, not even trying to hide her smile. The defenses here aren t very good, Ralan noted as he and Maela looked through the door of the prison dining hall. Prisoners were actually fed in their cells, so the hall itself was more of a room for the jailors and a large prep area for taking food to the prisoners. Maela turned and glared at Ralan. Nothing is ever easy. Don t forget that. Without a plan you would have been captured in the Flats, on the Circle, and in the hallway back there. Maela took a breath and then softened her voice. But you are correct about the defenses. But what is there to defend? The prisons are well guarded, and who would attack the Knight Tower? They continued on. The other side of the prison kitchen dining hall opened up to hallway off of the main atrium of the prison part of the Tower. Unlike the small, cramped kitchen halls, the halls of the Tower proper were wide and imposing. Knights walked through them at regular intervals. It was a long year in fourth grade, and my family and I were excited to start our summer vacation. As we pulled our trailer on the southbound I 5 freeway towards San Diego, I could see the temperature gauge on my father s truck slowly dropping to the mid 70 s. We were in a packed car with my father, mother, older brother, younger sister, snacks and drinks everywhere, and me, entranced by the game on my brand new iPod that I recently received on my birthday. After we had finished, my father came to inspect our work. He concluded his inspection by placing the surfboard in the back of the truck, implying that we were successful and that it would be ready for tomorrow. I was entranced by the thought of surfing, I dreamt all night about monstrous waves like in the movies, and gliding along side dolphins as they played in the ocean. That morning I woke up like it was Christmas, early, energized, curious, and excited. In preparation, I put on my swimsuit and practiced paddling and popping up on my skateboard as I rode around the campground at seven o clock in the morning. It seemed like forever until my family woke up and was finally ready to go to the beach. Luckily, Mason and I only had to walk a total of 200 meters to get the board into the water; unfortunately, half of the trek was through soft sand, and took over five minutes. Eventually, we were ready to make our first surfing memories. Mason was elected to go first since he was older and it was his present. My father waded into the water and pushed ... • 10. Timber Shortages In The 1770s This essay deals with the three shortages of masts and timber in the 1770s, 1803, and 1808, and considers how the navy dealt with these shortages. In the War of American Independence and the Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy often faced the risk of the shortages of these goods. In the second half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on the import of naval stores from several areas. Masts from Norway, Russia, and New England, pitch and tar from Carolina, iron from Sweden, and hemp from Russia greatly contributed to British naval power in the long eighteenth century. The dependant position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Albion s work is comprehensive and deals with the long term supply of woods, he pays little attention to the contribution of the Baltic masts and timber for the navy in the War of American Independence, as Knight points out. Existing studies did not firmly draw a comparison of the measures against the timber shortages and illustrate the relationship among the navy s attempts of the procurement of masts and timber. This essay focuses on the continuity of the measures against timber shortages and the effects of the procurement of masts and timber from one area on that from other areas. Gentrification happens when rich people come to urban communities and change the socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of a community. The comparison of the Netherlands, London and Vancouver will explain cultural, social, and political displacement caused by the new age of urban renewal. Countries are affected by this process and many of its civilians are left with nowhere to call their home. Communities where they once lived turn into places they ve never seen before. To be forced out of their own communities is only hurting the economic system of that city and/or country. The people that are being displaced are minorities and being forced out their community is killing their cultural. The residents will not be able to raise their children the same way they were brought up. For example, going outside and playing with the neighborhood children. The minorities that are getting kicked out will not able to stick together as a whole when moving to a different location. Each resident might move to different countries or cities as a final resort where prices of rent or mortgage will be lower. Some solutions that countries can use to limit or exterminate gentrification together would be; helping the poor residents through government assistances. Some residents do not have the proper income to continue living in the communities once the government or other companies step in and attempt to renovate the community. Another solution to this social problem would be if the government was more involved in helping the residents that are forced out to find better housing or something similar to their current ... While sitting between two of the best speech coaches in Northwest Iowa, I felt my heart race as they began announcing the Critic s Choice Award for the ten different areas of large group speech. The atmosphere was that of the Academy Awards in CY Stephens Auditorium at Iowa State University for the 31st IHSSA All State Large Group Speech Festival on Saturday, February 18. Students sat on the main level of the packed auditorium while family and friends filled the balcony. As I glanced over at Joel Stauffer and Todd McDonald, I realized there was no other place I would rather be. Our choral reading, Wild at Heart earned a chance to perform at the festival. The only times our school has won a banner was in 1991 for the ensemble, Night Mother under the direction of Mr. McDonald and in 1981 for duet acting. Earning a banner is a hard thing to do. The fantasy of having a perfect, functional family was an aspiration for most families as it resembled success and superiority within their community. I was interested in learning how the beliefs, values, and traditions of the Korean culture influence the care they receive within America s healthcare system. I chose to research the Korean culture because I have an uncle that was raised in South Korea and I have noticed many differences in the way he raises his children and views his family responsibilities. A culture s behavior generally reflects their cultural values, so with differing cultures comes differing values and behaviors. It is important for nurses to become sensitive to these differing values, so that they can better understand patient s behaviors and how to effectively care for them. For a nurse to become culturally competent, they must begin by recognizing their own cultural values and biases, and be sensitive to how other cultures differ from their own. In a recent interview with Mark Shenton, Tim Rice said that he heard about Eva Peron on the radio and remember her from a stamp he saw as a child. That moment was enough to make Rice interested in Eva Peron s life story. This all happened in 1973 twenty one years after Eva Peron had already passed away. Nurses should be full partners, with physicians and other health professionals, in redesigning health care in the United States. 4. Effective workforce planning and policy making require better data collection and information infrastructure. What I took from those four main issues is the importance for nurses to continue with their training, so that those currently in the nursing profession would be more competent, with a larger range of responsibilities. Through that further nursing education and making programs more accessible to the nursing profession to achieve a higher level of education. Nurses are the ones that are delivering care; therefore nurses should be active in regards to resigning of health care. Nurses need to speak and be able, have input into the implementation of health care systems. In my opinion, the report re invents health care in America. Nurses are the largest part of the health workforce. They are often seen as the most trusted in the health care profession. The settlement date, notional amount of the contract and settlement form (cash or physical) are entirely up to the parties to the contract. * Forwards entail both market risk and credit risk. The profit or loss on a forward contract is only realized at the time of settlement, so the credit exposure can keep increasing. * With futures, credit risk mitigation measures, such as regular mark to market and margining, are automatically required. The exchanges employ a system whereby counterparties exchange daily payments of profits or losses on the days they occur. Through these margin payments, a futures contracts market value is effectively reset to zero at the end of each trading day. Garcia-Marquez s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Essay Garcia Marquez s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Symbolism is often used to subtlely enhance a story s meaning by adding emphasis and details to the story line. However, Garcia Marquez, in A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , cloaks his tale for children in a dreamlike quality conveyed purely through symbolism. Clues to his intended meaning can be drawn from the old winged man whom the story revolves around, from the metamorphous of the family who take him in, and from outsiders reaction to this phenomenon. The old winged man symbolizes those that are different and perhaps alien. He also represents those who are unable to contribute in any traditional form. Through historical events, the culture and identity of Mexican Americans have shifted, diverted, and adapted into what people chose to identify as. The rise of the Chicano identity during the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement was an adaptation as a culture to oppressive and unjust treatment from white, Anglos that had almost all political and social power over all minorities. To stop the oppressive voices from silencing and oppressing the Mexican Americans, they had to stand up to fight for their rights as American citizens that also had Mexican or Spanish heritage to be proud of. In Oscar Zeta Acosta s novel, The Revolt of the Cockroach People, he dives into the Chicano Movement as a witness and an active participant. His larger than life character is on the front lines of the movement and examines the shift in identity among the group. It was particularly rising of their Chicano identity that gave the people cause to organize politically and socially in order to fight for a worthy cause. One aspect of the Chicano identity that gave rise to the Chicano Movement is the power of reviving gender roles. The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act of unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters Ross, 2012). When in M tells him that he is going to need a new gun because his old one no longer suffices, Fleming describes Bond s relationship with his old gun using masturbatory terms, describing how Bond had dismantled the gun and oiled it and packed the bullets carefully into the spring loaded magazine and tried the action once or twice, pumping the cartridges out onto the bedspread in some hotel bedroom in Dr. No, (025,), and in a celebration of pre existent vocabulary Bond can often be seen resting his hand on the butt of his gun. (CR, 008) Similarly, acts of violence are described in ways that invite the imagining of sexual acts. In the testicular torture scene from Casino Royale, where cool Le Chiffre flogs Bond with a carpet beater, only Fleming chooses to describe Bond s response to the torture rather than the torture itself, and when reading the responses selectively one might think Bond s body is responding to physical pleasure rather than pain. John Bowlby And Mary Ainsworth s Attachment Theories John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth s attachment theories derive from the idea that in early development infants develop different attachment behaviors in relation to their caregivers. This emotional bond between an infant and their parents can have an enduring impact on future relationships throughout an individual s life. Research has shown that there does not have to be a biological component for an infant to bond with a parent. Instead the bond or attachment is related to quality and quantity of interaction between parent and child. (Boyd, Bee, p. 130) There are four main attachment styles; secure attachment, insecure/avoidant attachment, insecure/ambivalent attachment, and insecure/disorganized attachment. (Boyd, Bee, p. 133) Each of the four attachment styles come with a variety of associated characteristics and behaviors. For example: a child who develops a secure attachment will be an active explorer, easily soothed, and prefers their mother over a stranger. In comparison an infant who develops an insecure/avoidant attachment avoid contact with their mother and has no preference in interaction with their mother over a stranger. Insecure children will not resist interaction from their mother, but they do not seek. Infants who have secure attachment will often seek contact and interaction with their mother.
