The Federal Reserve System And Economic Development
The Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve System was created by Congress in 1913 and passed the Federal Reserve
Act in order to provide for a safer and more flexible banking and monetary system. According to
the changing needs of the system, its objectives have been changing throughout the history of the
Fed. At first, its original purposes were to give the country an elastic currency, provide facilities for
discounting commercial credits, and improve the supervision of the banking system under a
decentralized bank. (The Federal Reserve System, 1984, 1). Prior to its establishment (the Fed), the
supply of bank credit and money was inelastic, thus resulting in an irregular flow of credit and
money, and contributed to unstable economic development. These objectives were aspects
economic policies and national monetary. However, through time, stability and growth of the
economy, high employment levels, stability in the purchasing power of the dollar, and reasonable
balance in transactions with foreign currencies have become to be recognized as primary objectives
of the governmental economic policy.
The Fed is an independent central bank. Its decisions are not ratified by the president or any other
government institutions. However, the Fed has to report to the Congress. The book of the Federal
Reserve System (1984, 2) uses the term of independent within the government , since the Fed has to
work within the framework of the objectives of economic and financial policy

7 Task 1 Types of network LAN stands for Local Area Network. LAN is a type of network that
interconnects computers and devices either wired or wireless and covers a greater distance.
LAN is mainly used in private organisations such as college or university. More or less everyone
uses wireless router at home these days and the user is able to connect between 5 10 devices
wirelessly. The user can share the broadband or the connection with ADSL by using Ethernet
cables. Smaller LANs can connect at least 2 3 computers using one cable. It also depends on the
size of the organisation. Smaller LANs are easier to manage. The users need to be careful when
using larger LANs and need to make sure that the network within it is transmitted efficiently. The
user can increase the number of computers connected by using routers and switches. This ensures
that the network administrator has higher level of control over the network. IEEE 802.3 is the
wired Ethernet used by LAN and therefore it is related to LAN. The set up cost for LAN is
relatively cheap. WAN stands for Wide Area Network. It is a type of network that interconnects
the LANs meaning it connects the LANs together over large distance. WAN is used in school or
college or in a joint network

Summary Of Ways Of Seeing By John Berger
In Ways of Seeing , John Berger discusses how the way people interpret thoughts is largely based
on other factors. In the second line of the text he says, The child looks and recognizes before it
speaks (Berger 142). Berger is telling people through this line that Seeing comes before words
(Berger 142). Children must take in their environment before they acquire a language. This even
translates to when they grow up and become adults. Adults take in their surroundings before
beginning to discuss it with others. Berger then goes on and discusses how the past becomes
mystified by people in society today. Cultural mystification of the past entails a double loss (Berger
145). When a painting is seen from our past, people tend to situate... Show more content on

Seeing establishes our place in this world, but we use words to describe it. For example, a parent
may pick a type of school that their child will go to. They will pick either public or private
school. This will definitely shape the way the child views the world. Just picking one of these
two types of school can change a child s friend group, and personality. When those two things are
shaped, it affects how the child will see the world. He also goes on to say how there is a
difference from what we see to what we know. He uses the example of seeing the sun set. How it
looks like the sun is revolving around the earth, but we know it is the opposite. Then he says that
our past knowledge influences how we see. In our day to day lives, many things affect our way of
seeing including: parents, environment and social class.
A person s way of seeing can be taken away from many people, including their parents. When
kids are young, parents decide many factors for them. One of these factors tends to be religion.
Choosing a child s religion can definitely influence the way that they see the world. The way we
see things is affected by what we believe and what we know (Berger 142). If someone is being
raised as a Christian, they are most likely going to see everything through God. Every landscape,
sunset, and human are all there because God made it for them. On the other hand, if a child is
being raised as an Atheist, then they will see the world very

An Organization Is A System
An organization is a system. A system s overall behavior depends on its entire structure, not the
sum of its various parts. The structure determines the various behaviors, which determine the
various events. It is critical that you do not break up a system into silos, but it equally critical
that a company acknowledges its strengths from workforce and keep these smaller systems tied
together as one large system. We will examine how the companies highlighted in the team
presentations have achieved this success. Companies can use pay as a reward or reinforcer.
Several of the class presentations discussed the issue of pay. There was a clear divide in how pay
was used. Our evaluation is that the majority of the presentations used pay as a reward. Our
perception is that Park Nicollet (PN) they use pay as a reinforcer. Luthans and Stajkovic call out in
their article, Unless organizational participants are reinforced for their performance related
behaviors, strategies, designs and technologies may have little impact. (Luthans Stajkovic 1999, p.
52). At PN, the system encourages and reinforces team culture, collaboration and allowing
employees to be actively involved in improvement projects. PN professionals embrace and enjoy an
environment of continuous process improvement. These opportunities increase the strength and
frequency of the collaboration behavior that is needed to a primary care provider of choice in the

HTC Desire 400
Finally, after some speculation and assumptions, the features of HTC Desire 400 have been
officially unveiled. However, a few specifications, such as the OS version and HTC Desire price in
Pakistan are yet to be revealed.
Here is an overview of the smartphone as revealed by the company s Russian website.
A Decent Look:
The handset looks sophisticated and attractive. It is 8.9 mm in thickness which makes it
satisfyingly sleek. The overall length equals 5.04 inches, but the screen covers only 4.3 inches of
the area. This medium measurement makes the phone delightfully portable without disrupting the
browsing, gaming and video watching experience.

According to the former, there is a rear cam as well as a 1.6 MP secondary camera in the front.
The top notch primary cam comes with a resolution of 8 MP. LED flash is included for brighter
results. On the other hand, the Ukraine website says that the phone has only one 5 MP camera. It
does come with the basic features including flash, face detection, autofocus, touch focus, and so on.
In both cases, users will have a decent camera for photography. Pictures will be clear and bright.
Superb Connectivity:
All possible options of connectivity will be available for users. The phone covers 2G as well as

connectivity gives you access to internet browsing.
Appreciable Battery Life:
The phone houses a decent 1800 mAh battery with the support of which the talk time goes up to
twelve hours. The stand by time is just as impressive, extending up to four hundred and thirty five
hours. This data proves the reliability of the phone s appreciable battery life.
Affordability:
Although the exact HTC Desire 400 price has not yet been revealed by the official sources, a
rough estimate tells that the cost of the phone is mid range. Average folks who want to enjoy the
luxuries of a smartphone with a delightful quality will definitely be willing to pay for what the
phone is worth. Therefore, it is not going to be out of reach for most potential buyers.

Harry Mazer s The Last Mission
1. Explain the setting of the novel. What influence, if any, does it have on the story?
The Last Mission by Harry Mazer takes place during World War II when the Nazis start to
stagger back towards Germany, being pushed by merciless Allied troops. The story s setting
switches countless times during the story. In the story we see Jack Raab walk the malicious street
of New York, a demanding training camp, the grim environment of a war torn country, and the
treacherous skies of Europe. The setting that had the most effect emotionally on Jack was war torn
Europe. Here he sees the damage he and his fellow American bombers have done in many areas of
Europe. He not only sees the damage he has done to the European countryside but to the people

3. Choose one character and describe him/her. Explain personality traits as well as physical traits
and use phrases or passages from the book to support your point of view.
3. Jack Raab is a 15 year old New Yorker and Jew, who decides to fight against Hitler. Jack is very
tall for his age; this is why he was able to pass as an eighteen year old. Jack also has copper brown
hair. Jack has had many family members who live in Europe who have been taken by the Nazi s.
Jack feels it is his duty as an American and a Jew to fight against Hitler. Jack has an older
brother, Irving, who was rejected from the army because he has a heart condition. Jack comes
up with a bright idea to steal Irving s identity and apply to the army in Irving s name. His plan
works, and he is enlisted in the air force. Jack is a very brave young man, and he is able to stand
up for what he believes in. Throughout the novel, Jack is faced with danger. In all of these
situations, Jack perseveres and survives. Whenever Jack wanted to, he could have told a
superior about his real age and got sent back to the states. Jack is not only brave he is also very
mature. His experience in the war has changed him from a boy to a man. An example from the
text is when Jack Rabb tells us To most boys, war is a game. A game where there are good guys
and bad guys and the good guys always win. Where the good guys get glory and fame no matter
what. And I decided to play the game. But the truth is, war is not a

Hamlet And The Basic Human Need For Truth
Hamlet and the Basic Human Need for Truth Marcus Aurelius is quoted as saying, Everything we
hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth. This idea is
examined in William Shakespeare s Hamlet, a play full of warmly delivered lies and completely
intentional deceit. Hamlethimself shows how a life full of lies and deceit breeds a desire for
something real. In the beginning of the play, authenticity is introduced as a rare trait and the Ghost
reveals treachery to Hamlet setting him on a path that leads to his demise. Hamlet s actions are
motivated by a search for something real and true in both his life and himself and in this search he
comments on the nature of truth itself.
Within Shakespeare s Hamlet resides a strong theme of illusion and reality shown in the attention
that is drawn to the seeming and being within the characters. The play itself is about acting because
not only are actors required to act out the parts that are written, but also the characters themselves
are acting. They put on a facade just as an actor assumes a role on the stage (Bloom 11).
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern seem to be concerned friends. Instead, they are simply acting as
such because they are charged by the king to find the origin of Hamlet s peculiar behavior.
Gertrude seems to be the dutiful queen that married Claudius for the benefit of the kingdom itself
while she has simply failed to grieve her husband, dishonored his memory by marring so soon after

adopts Ibrahim Bakayoko. Major Plot Events * The narrative begins with a poetically written
description of the land in which the story unfolds as well as a glimpse of nature that provides a
vivid contrast to the machine defined lives the novel s many characters live. * The fundamental
conflict is captured in two people, Dejean (the French manager and colonialist) and Bakayoko (the
soul and spirit of the strike). * The evolution of the strike causes an evolution in the self
perceptions of the Africans themselves, one that is most noticeable in the women of Bamako,
ThiГЁs, and Dakar. * These women go from seemingly standing behind the men in their lives, to
walking alongside them and eventually marching ahead of them. * Women go from supporting the
strike to participating in the strike. Eventually it is the women that march on foot, over four days
from ThiГЁs to Dakar. * The women s march causes the French to understand the nature of the
willpower that they are facing, and shortly after the French agree to the demands of the strikers.

The Rhetoric Of Drunk History Vs Happening Now
The Rhetoric of Drunk History Vs. Happening Now
After watching two episodes of Drunk History and one episode of Happening Now, I noticed
they both appeal to all parts of rhetoric. In each of the videos, the narrators describe an incident
from their point of view. There is some truth in the stories with a lot of opinion because it is told in
the perspective of the individual who is telling the story, but all the stories appeal to rhetoric to an
extent.
In Drunk History: Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks, The story appeals to logos with deductive
reasoning. The major premise is blacks had to give up their seat on the bus to whites, the minor
premise is that Claudette Colvin is black, the conclusion was she had to give up her seat. When the

Power In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, young boys face challenges for safety or the seekage of
power. There are no adults on the island to show them the peaceful way to handle conflicts.
Naturally boys follow the power and some are left to fend for themselves. The author employs
the perpetrators in the novel seek power by provoking cruelty to their victims. The island was
substantially peaceful when Ralph, a later victim, called everyone on the island with a blow into a
conch to bring them to the meeting grounds for introductions. Littluns and biguns filed into the
area; already seeking power, Jack organized a group of his own that he led. The group discussed

After every kill, they would dance and chant in excitement, reenacting how the pig was killed.
This dance became a regular occurrence and brought out the tribes savagery, especially the night
of a horrible storm. Just before the storm, Jack killed a pig and fed his people, scaring the tribe
by pressuring them to eat fast, since they knew Jack had the power and could end their meal at

middle allowed the hunters to deal painful blows to ease all uneasy thoughts. With their minds
hindered by excitement, they thought the beast had come out of the woods and they pounced,
not knowing it was Simon. The author described this moment as, There were no words, and no
movements but the tearing of teeth and claws. (153). Ralph and Piggy realize their fate and felt

Chemical Composition Of Cells Lab Report
Chemical Composition of Cells Lab Report Tyler Thomason September 14, 2015
Introduction
A cell, the building block of all living organisms, is composed of four fundamental biomolecules:
proteins, carbohydrates, sugars and lipids. Proteins provide a vast amount of functions cells such
as they serve as enzymes, provide structural support to cells, and act as antibodies. Reagents are
used to spark a chemical reaction. The reagent used to detect protein traces in a substance is Biuret
s. Biuret s will turn purple if proteins are present and blue if they are none. Biuret s copper
particles, have a charge of +2, are diminished to a charge of +1 when peptide bonds, which are in
proteins, are present, creating the color change. Polysaccharides, which are carbohydrates, are most
notably known to provide energy to the body, but they also help in breaking down fatty acids.
Iodine is the reagent used to determine whether a substance has starch in it. The iodine/starch
complex has energy levels that are only for retaining unmistakable light, giving the complex its
extraordinarily dark black blue shade. If there is no starch found, iodine will remain its natural
yellowish brownish color, but if starch is present, iodine will turn blue black. Monosaccharides,
which are sugars, like polysaccharides, provide the body with energy. To detect monosaccharides,
the reagent, Benedict s, is used. Benedict s reagent is added to a test tube, then it is placed in

Narrative Essay On Study With Children
Studying With Children!
When people think of starting over, a lot of different things come to mind. Starting over could be
simply going back to the drawing board in a business venture, rewriting an English paper, or
rearranging your life. Even rearranging your life can be from many different aspects. Alcoholics
need to start over. Gamblers need to start over. Divorced people need to make a new start as well.
In which direction does starting over take you?
Starting over for me first of all meant finding a way to keep up with all of the payments a married

Self esteem plays another important factor. You keep hearing his voice taunting, You ll never

Then it happens. You begin to come out of your shell. Instead of two minimum wage jobs, you

The Growth Of The Brazilian Economy
As the largest economy in Latin America and seventh largest (by nominal GDP) in the world, the
Brazilian economy is experiencing many positive effects, characterized by it s inward oriented

Although undergoing extensive makeover, the financial sector provides local businesses with a
wide variety of products and is successfully bringing in new entrants, creating an upturn in the
economy, and furthermore incentivizing rural inhabitants to move to the more urban spacesii. What

Some of the effects that have taken place from this urban migration is the poverty and unlivable
conditions of the favelas and the social divide that have put into question the priories of the

The United States Antitrust Laws
INTRODUCTION Through the course of this paper I will introduce and discuss the history of the
movement towards an actively and engaged antitrust legislation. I will also identify the original and
early antitrust laws and how they have influenced the economy, as we know it today. Upon the
completion of this paper you will understand who was set to benefit (gain) from anti legislation and
who loses under the intentions of the antitrust laws today and in the past.
LITERATURE REVIEW The United States antitrust legislation is a legislation designed to break up
and prevent the formation of new monopolies to increase competition and societal welfare. Thus the
United State Antitrust law is a collection of both state and federal government laws enacted to
promote fair competition in the economy. The antitrust laws main statutes consist of the Sherman
Act of 1890, the Clayton Act of 1914 and the Federal Trade Commission Act of 1914. In
combination these acts have enforced the proper rules and regulations that businesses must conform
to today to ensure that there is a healthy competition within the economy to not only the benefit of
the consumers who utilize these services and goods but for the health of the businesses who make
up our market industries. While Rockefeller s Standard Oil is a well known example of an early
monopoly a few other examples of early monopolistic companies are known as The Whisky Trust,
and the Tobacco Trust, Sugar Trust and J.P. Morgan s U.S. Steel

Film Analysis Of The Mise-En-Scene In Film
The Mise en scene describes the elements and details in a scene of a film and the way they are
shown and arranged. This being said, the lighting, makeup, costumes, setting and props are all
key factors of Mise en scene. The setting in a film creates a sense of place, a mood, and may also
reflect a character s emotional state. It can be entirely fabricated within a studio just like Rear
Window or it may also be found and filmed on location. Perhaps the most easily visible aspect of
mise en scene is costume. Costume can include both makeup or wardrobe choices that are used to
convey a character s temperament or status, and to suggest these differences between characters.
Lighting is a huge part of filmmaking. Lights are what a cinematographer uses to paint a set. They
use lighting changes to help define characters, create a setting, or to portray how that character is
feeling. In the next few paragraphs, I will point out all the cinimatograpgy of the Mise en scene
from the clips from The Godfatherand Rear Window. The opening sequence of Rear Window is a
curtain raiser... literally. it opens with the camera on the inside of J.B Jefferies(Jeff) s Livingroom
in his apartment. The credits are shown on the scene of a window in jeffs apartment, while the
blinds on the window behind them are slowly raised. Making me compare it to watching a

Air Jordan History
Air Jordan has been a huge part of the shoe game ever since they first came out in 1985. When
Nike first saw Michael Jordan s performance in college they immediately took action with him he
got drafted into the NBA.. With all of his athletic ability not every game did he always play like
the superstar he played like as we know him today. Yet his shoes still did sell pretty well for his
first and second years playing in the NBA. As the years went by Michaels show performance got
way better by averaging 30 points a game, and that s when his shoes went crazy in selling.
Everyday there were about several million pairs of Jordans selling each day. To think that Air
Jordan could ve never existed after Michael Jordantried to get his agent to get him a deal with
Adidas. But Nike pulled out and got Jordan to sign with them.(Elder, 2013) Nike noticed what a
tremendous impact that Jordan had in the NBA. In matter of fact he played so good that Nike
wanted to make him his own brand of shoes called Jordan. The first pair of shoes they made called
the Air Jordan 1s weren t selling or changing the game so they had to make a good color that
opened people s eye.

Gang Injunction
This week s reading was a chapter from the book Police, Power, and the Product of Racial
Boundaries by Ana Muniz analyzed the function and outcomes of gang injunctions, specifically the
Glendale Corridor Gang Injunction. From what I understood, gang injunctions were used as a
modern peculiar institution that reestablished the definition of raceand normalized forms of racial
inequality to fit their societal needs. Society s wishes to gentrify lead to the displacement of certain
people of color and justified the use of violence against individuals through policeaction. This is
similar to slavery and the separation between white and black to justify the use of violence and
dehumanization by reducing African Americans to objects of labor when

Value of Equity and Per Share Value when there are options and warrants outstanding

Equity Value and Per Share Value: A Test l Assume that you have done an equity valuation of
Microsoft. The total value for equity is estimated to be $ 170 billion and there are 1204 million
shares outstanding. What is the value per share?
2
An added fact l On September 30, 1997, Microsoft had 258 million options outstanding, granted to
employees over time. These options had an average exercise price of $ 42 (the current stock price i
$ 140). Estimate the value per share.

The Conversion Option l l
In a typical convertible bond, the bondholder is given the option to convert the bond into a
specified number of shares of stock. The conversion ratio measures the number of shares of stock
for which each bond may be exchanged. Stated differently, the market conversion value is the
current value of the shares for which the bonds can be exchanged. The conversion premium is the
excess of the bond value over the conversion value of the bond. The conversion option in a
convertible bond is equity.
9
Convertible Bond Value and the Conversion Option
10
Determinants of Value of Conversion Option l The conversion option is a call option on the
underlying stock, and its value is therefore determined by the variables that affect call option values
the underlying stock price, the conversion ratio (which determines the strike price), the life of the
convertible bond, the variance in the stock price and the level of interest rates.
11
Factors in Using Option Pricing Models to Value Convertibles and Warrants l Option pricing
models can be used to value the conversion option with three caveats
conversion options are long term, making the assumptions about constant variance and constant
dividend yields much shakier, conversion options result in stock dilution, and conversion options
are often exercised before expiration, making it dangerous to use European option pricing

Decade of Corporate Greed
Decade of Corporate Greed Dale Schroll University of Phoenix Axia College As Ronald Reagan
Ascended in the 1980 s he reinvented Republican policies that favored deregulation and the
growth of business in America. These Ideas markedly opposed the views of the governmental
interventionist policies of the 1960 s and 70 s with these ideas Reagan hoped to decrease
government Involvement and heavy taxes. With these tax cuts Reagan s thinking was that many
new businesses would spawn and that it would have a trickledown effect by not only empowering
businesses to grow and hire more people which in the end would benefit all from those on top in
the corporate world all the way down to the lowest person in the company in which... Show more

This new concentration of wealth created a whole new class of millionaires, however on the
downside for every millionaire there were several hundred homeless people. With this came
more negativity that came with the corporate greed of the 80 s.For these people who became
homeless and poor due to these millionaires greed were blamed for dragging down the economy
by Republican politicians and their mouthpieces in the media, while the truth we found out later
is that indeed it was these rich people who were ripping us off and actually were responsible for
dragging down the economy. Going as far to blaming the poor the city of Los Angeles installed
a fingerprint system to guard against welfare fraud that cost the city and hardworking tax payers
30 million dollars, and for all of this it caught one cheater. While at the same time White collar
crime was rising and costing us more than street crime cost, also doing more damage and arguably
causing more deaths. Reagan also had a deregulation of the savings and loans industry which was a
total debacle and ended up costing Americans 500 billion dollars which is part of the still current
banking problem that is going on today. Unfortunately

How Did The French Revolution Influence Art
The French Revolution and the Art it Influenced
Liberty, equality, fraternity, or death; the last, much the easiest to bestow, O Guillotine! wrote the
famous author Charles Dickens, in his classic book, The Tale of Two Cities. The French
Revolution (1789 1796) was a fight for liberty and equality, which ultimately led to the execution of
Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, by way of guillotine. And, eventually Napoleon
Bonaparte became the ruler of France. This was a transforming time in not just France s history,
but European history and World history. The people of France were fed up with the monarchy
and the burden of high taxes, as the monarch rulers squandered money away while the people
faced famine and poverty. The Revolution was so powerful that artists not only painted about it,
but they became revolutionaries themselves, like Jacques Louis David, who is famous for his
works, Oath of the Horratii, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps. In 1830, the second French
Revolution broke out and this was known as the Three Glorious Days , in which the people of
France protested Charles X after he imposed ordinances that prevented freedom of the press and
increased the power of his monarchy ( French Revolution , n.d.). The famous allegorical painting
by Eugene Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People, is a historical depiction of the second French
Revolution and illustrates the connection between socioeconomic and political issues, and art.
This paper will look at David s Napoleon Crossing the Alps, and Delacroix s Liberty Leading the
People and analyze the impact of the French Revolution on art of those periods.
Jacques Louis David (1748 1825) was one of the most famous Neoclassist painters, as well as a
devout revolutionary in 19th century France. He painted works that some consider propaganda of
the time, yet he did so in pure Neoclassical fashion (Pollitt, n.d.). Eventually, he became the
personal painter for Napoleon Bonaparte, as he continued to support the revolution through art. In
Napoleon Crossing the Alps, we see a diagonal, yet static composition. The diagonal that is created
by the horse is reminiscent of Baroque figures, yet it lacks the movement that the Baroque style
portrayed so well.

Exoplanets
An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the
many exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example,
Kepler 186 is around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around
5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles away. That is why we know so little about these planets that
could support life on them.
Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah
put it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different
planet is they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content

First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity
method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a
planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of
its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s
normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its
spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted
towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method
detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes
between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If
such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very
probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period.
Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of
discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look
for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit
photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can
find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to
Search for Exoplanet.). These methods are detrimental to the discovery of new planets from far

Essay On Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can be found in Deer ticks.
The disease starts after an infected tick expels its salivary gland and abdominal contents into the
skin of a human. In about 60 70% of cases, a rash may develop at the site of the tick bite. This
rash is most often circular with a clear edge, but oblong and other shaped rashes may occur as well
in response to the tick bite. This rash is known as erythema migrans or EM. This rash usually
starts about 3 30 days after the tick bite. Sometimes this rash is mistaken as a spider bite . It is
called migrans because it grows in size, gradually expanding over several days to greater than 2
inches across; some rashes can cover very large areas, such as an entire back. If the center of the
rash clears, the rash may take on a bull s eye appearance. The rash is usually not itchy or painful.
Sometimes, other rashes occur in other parts of the body far away from the initial tick bite. This is

Counterfeit Products Of Counterfeit Pharmaceuticals
INTRODUCTION.
The trade of counterfeit pharmaceuticals is a lucrative business with low start up costs. It is
growing very fast and has become a worldwide issue. According to the BMI Healthcare Report
2015, in 2013 alone 3.6 million units of counterfeit medicines were seized. They were valued at
COP 2,200 million which is approximately $ 921 million. Counterfeit pharmaceuticals continue to
represent up to 40% of the total pharmaceutical market in Colombia and police and customs
agencies have spent billions of COP trying to resolve this problem. clearly the trade of counterfeit
pharmaceuticals is rapidly increasing, but is the cause the lack of legislation or is it the enforcement.
This research seeks to analyze the causes of the rapid growth in the counterfeit pharmaceutical
industry by analyzing the existence of sufficient legislation and the factors that hinder its
enforcement particularly focusing on the complexity of the supply chain and the adaptation of anti
counterfeit technology in Colombia. II. OVERVIEW OVER BACKGROUND AND EFFECTS
OF COUNTERFEIT DRUGS.
Counterfeit Medicines were acknowledged as a problem in the 1980s, when forgers started to
copy lifestyle drugs to fight obesity and baldness (Lomb, 2014). The Counterfeiting process of
market prescription drugs like antibiotics, vaccines, birth control as well as hypertension and
diabetes medication started later, where antibiotics and steroids represented the bigger portion of
the forgers market (See

that First Car plc needs to hold fire and invest in a project which will guarantee to bring in profits

The Drowner by Robert Drewe essay
The structure of a novel enables it to embody, integrate and communicate its content by revealing
its role in the creation and perception of it. A complex structure such as that of Robert Drewe s
work The Drowner, published in 1996, refers to the interrelation or arrangement of parts in a
complex entity1. Drewe s novel is a multi faceted epic lovestory presenting a fable of European
ambitions in an alien landscape, and a magnificently sustained metaphor of water as the life and
death force2. The main concerns of the novel include concerns about love, life, death and human
frailty. These concerns are explored through the complex structure of the novel. That is, through its
symbolic title, prologues, and division into sections. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many instances he also has no strong sense of her self 5, and thus Will is quite literally
presented as Drowning in their relationship. Thus the concern of love and the often unequal
power struggle between the two participants are raised. The title here signifies the destructive
nature of love. The title is also associated with death, presented through the deaths by drowning
such as Hammond Lloyd, Kate and the allusion to Ophelia, which were primarily as a result of
love, showing the inter twining of the destructive nature of love and drowning (death). Again
the title is multi faceted exploring the life giving and taking qualities of water as the harbinger
of death as well as the idealising and fear of it. Kate s eulogy clearly explains this as drowning is
idealised for it transported our beloved peablossom, our gossamer darling to heaven and feared as
it pull d the poor wretch from her melodious lay/ To muddy death . Throughout the novel there is
an absence of the word suicide, and death, instead it is drowning, signifying human frailty and
death as a universal fear.
Much like the title, the prologues explore similar concerns although it is by presenting two
contrasting scenes. Despite this the title continues within the prologue

ramifications ranged from cultural repression on the part of many Mexican Americanfamilies, to
political activism on the part of others, and the beginning of reform within the Los Angeles Police

Professor Michael A. Peters
13 August 2015 Exploring citizenship, global citizenship, and global citizenship education
Abstract
With the progression of globalization, the recognition of how to be a good citizen and how to act
as a good citizen in the global age has drawn more and more attention. In addition, the direction of
education shifts from the knowledge and skills dissemination to building global values to be well
connected in the world. This paper aims to indicate multiple understandings of citizenship and
specifically interprets three dimensions of citizenship: citizenship as a status, as a practice and as a
feeling. Besides, understandings about global citizenship will be explored as well. Last but not the
least, how global citizenship education is applied to the concepts of citizenship and global
citizenship in order to be a good citizen and act as a good citizen.
Citizenship
With regard to the concepts of citizenship, there have been a significant variety of understandings.
Specifically, in Marshall s perspective (1950, p30), citizenship consists of civil, political, and social
citizenship. In addition, Marshall argues that the development of civil citizenship expanded,
involving political citizenship and social citizenship. Based on the three dimension model of
citizenship, Marshall, in

Nutrition and Digestion
Module 2 Written Assignment
1. What are enzymes? What specifically is the role of an enzyme in digestion?
Enzymes are working proteins that facilitate chemical reactions without being changed in the
process. Organs of the digestive system excrete digestive juices, which contain enzymes that break
the bonds of nutrients that can be absorbed.
2. Trace the path of a cheeseburger and fries through the digestive tract. Indicate each place where
mechanical digestion, chemical digestion, and absorption occurs FOR EACH NUTRIENT
(carbohydrates, lipids, proteins). Be sure to fully explain the role of EACH organ involved
(including the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder).

The small intestine also contributes enzymes to complete the digestion process before nutrients are
small enough for the cells to absorb (chemical).
In the large intestine The digestion and absorption of proteins, fats and carbohydrates are
essentially complete by the time the intestinal contents enter the colon. Only water, fiber and some
minerals remain. Only certain fibers can be broken down by bacteria (chemical digestion). The
colon s task is mostly to reabsorb water and minerals, leaving a paste of fiber and feces for
excretion (mechanical) via rectum and anus.
3. How is the lining of the small intestine protected from acidic chyme entering from the stomach?
The pyloric valve of the lower stomach regulates the amount of chyme that exits into the small
intestine, allowing only a little at a time to exit. Also, once chyme enters the small intestine,
hormonal messengers signal the pancreas to release alkaline pancreatic juice, bicarbonate, to
neutralize the stomach acid that has reached the small intestine.
4. Where are carbohydrates stored in the body? In what form are carbohydrates stored?
Carbohydrates are stored in the liver in the form of glycogen.
5. What happens to the volume (amount) and dilution (amount of water) of urine when alcohol is
consumed? Explain in detail why this occurs, focusing

Calvin Coolidge Research Paper
The process of mourning allows for the coping and healing of grief. However, when trauma and
grief consume ones life the effects can be catastrophic. The thirteenth President of the United States,
Calvin Coolidge, suffered from the trauma of death, and this trauma led to his reputation as the least
effective and successful presidents the country has ever seen. A variety of statements, polls,
historian accounts, and political scientists all state the lack of imagination and idealism during
Coolidge s presidency (19). Childhood development, political success, and death affected Coolidge
s life and presidency. Born on July 4th, 1872 in Plymouth Notch, Vermont(20), Calvin Coolidgewas
the son of a very intelligent and politically successful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was known to have multiple meetings a week with the press and ask advice from
accomplished politicians. Coolidge dealt smoothly with Congress and international relations.
His time as president seemed to be going very well, and with the approval of the Republican
Congress and the American people. Time changed for the worse as his son was put in serious
condition after his infected toe spread to his blood, and four days after his father s birthday
Calvin Jr. died. Coolidge s devastation after his youngest son s death is something he would never
recover from. The hard working, respected politician soon fell into a deep depression. The trauma
of death brought out each horrid experience from his past. The death of his mother, sister,
stepmother, and now son finally drove him to his breaking point. Coolidge lost all interest in his
work. He started sleeping twelve hour days, not attending meetings, and lost contact with Congress.
With the Republican Party in control of both houses, times should have been ever so easy for the
Republican Party. However, Coolidge offered no influence, no reforms, no changes, and did not
help in disputes. He withdrew completely from all responsibilities, and let his guilt and grief sink

Network Flows
Author: versity. Arthur M. Hobbs, Department of Mathematics, Texas A M Uni
Prerequisites: The prerequisites for this chapter are graphs and trees. See
Sections 9.1 and 10.1 of Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications.
Introduction
In this chapter we solve three very different problems.
Example 1
Joe the plumber has made an interesting offer. He says he has lots of short pieces of varying
gauges of copper pipe; they are nearly worthless to him, but for only 1/5 of the usual cost of
installing a plumbing connection under your house, he will use a bunch of T and Y joints he
picked up at a distress sale and these small pipes to build the network shown in Figure 1. He claims
that it will deliver three gallons per minute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Example 4
Find a flow in the graph of Figure 3.
Solution:
The path p = s, b, a, t extends from s to t, and seen as a sequence of pipes, the largest amount of
flow that could travel along it is the minimum of the capacities of the pipes comprising it. This
minimum is 2, which is c(s, b)

and also c(b, a). Thus we put number pairs on each of the edges, the second entry being 2 for each
edge in the path and 0 for the other two edges. The result is shown in Figure 4.
Figure 4.
Graph of Figure 3 with flow along path s,b,a,t.
There are two ways we can view a flow, and Example 4 illustrates them both. One view is to
trace out the path from the source to the sink of one or more units of flow. In the example, path
p is such a path. The other view is to measure the total flow in each edge of the graph. This view
is shown in the example by our placing the amount of flow along each edge. Since there is
actually only one flow, namely the orderly procession of fluid from the source to the sink
through the network, these two views must be equivalent.
When solving the problem of finding maximum flows through the graph, the second view is
preferable for two reasons. If we are searching a very large network by hand, it may well be
impossible for us to п¬Ѓnd a best set

Comparing Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants And Cat...
Ernest Hemingway s Hills like White Elephants and Cat in the Rain have similar elements with
regard to the characters, the settings, and the conclusions. Hemingway s Hills like White
Elephants and Cat in the Rain are similar in the way s he has the women, men, and secondary
characters interact and how each one plays a role in the story. Both women in Hemingway s
stories want to have a baby, while in Hills like White Elephants the women seems unsure in the
beginning by the end it is clear she is talking about keeping her baby. She starts with a subtle
undertone while she is talking to her significant other but by the end of their conversation, you can
tell she is agitated so much, so that she says, Would you please please please please please please
please stop talking? (Hemingway, Hills 278). When the man continues to try to talk about the

In Hills like White Elephants , the foreign setting is used to show that the couple have a mobile
life, they are never in one spot for too long evidence of this is the suit case that has all the travel
stickers on it. This helps the women in the relationship and the reader come to the conclusion
that she would like to start settling down, and that having a family may in fact be what she
wants. Accompanied with the foreign setting is the symbolism Hemmingway uses. His use of
symbolism is almost as if he is telling a story with in a story. In Cat in the Rain , he has two
strong symbols, the cat and the rain. Hemmingway uses the cat as a symbol for a baby; the cat
is helpless and needs someone to take care of it just as a baby would. His use of rain in this story
is a symbol of fertility; this is why no one wants her to get wet while trying to get the cat.
Hemmingway uses the setting and use of symbolism in the setting to allow the reader to speculate

The most prime example of the Gullah tale in the text is in the foreword section of the novel.
Morrison tells a story of a story where a man named Solomon escapes slavery while at the same
time abandoning his family. This allusion is a connection to the Gullah stories of the slaves who
would fly back to Africa to free themselves. The allusion appears throughout the rest of the novel.
For instance, in the first chapter, an insurance agent by the name of Robert Smith announced
that he would fly off the roof of Mercy, a local hospital, to the other side of Lake Superior. I will
take off from Mercy and fly away on my own wings, he said ( Song of Solomon 3). More
references to flight and the Gullah tale are made in the novel; Song of Solomon ends with the
flight of Milkman Dead off Solomon s Leap. Milkman stopped waving and narrowed his eyes.
He could just make out Guitar s head and shoulders in the dark...Without wiping away the tears,
taking a deep breath, or even bending his knees he leaped (SOS 337). The reference to the tale in
the novel helps to establish equivalence between the characters and the readers. In other words, by
renewing the tale in her novel, the message of the tale becomes more comprehensible to the
readers especially to a new generation of African American readers who can learn about and relate

Using Grounded Theory In Research
Theories help guide researchers with how they will interpret their data. Theories may lean more to
one paradigm than another, however, there is one which has been labelled many things from
paradigm, methodology and theory (Walsh, Holton, Bailyn, et al., 2015). That theory is Grounded
Theory. A historical account of its development, main assumptions and assessment of its value are
provided. To contextualize Grounded Theoryfrom an interdisciplinary perspective, workplace
bullying in small, isolated organizations is proposed as a researchtopic. The merits and
disadvantages of using Grounded Theory as the research method will also be discussed.

when there is ongoing debate about its paradigm and ontology, can lead to a poorly designed
framework for research and lead to faulty theories (Walsh et al., 2015, p. 587). Additionally,
Grounded Theory is accused of watering down complex data while placing too much importance
on data seen as low hanging fruit, rather than seeking out the more complex role of social structure
thus eliminating the analysis of power in a given situation (Thomas James, 2006, pp. 768 769).
Lastly, the procedures described by Glaser and Strauss are accused of placing too much weight on
procedures and technique at the expense of data interpretation (Thomas James, 2006, p.

The Quebec Separatist Movement Of Canada
At some point, countries will fight for freedom at their breaking point. For example, during the mid
1900s, Canada did their own movement called the Quebec Separatist Movement. The movement
was about Quebec s independence from government. The movement involved the citizens of
Quebec and a group called Front de Liberation du Quebec(FLQ). The Front de Liberation du
Quebec had kidnapped people in Canada. The Quebec Separatist Movement began due to Quebec s
citizens ambition to become independent and was finally resolved by making a new constitution.
The historical context of the Quebec Separatist movement included The Quiet Revolution. The
Quiet Revolution was when small groups try to make Quebec independent especially FLQ. The
small groups members were Francophones, French speaking citizens. Their ideals was to make
Quebec independent from CanadaЕ› government. First, Canada made a bill stating that it will
create a better future for Canada. The Official Language Bill is a reflection of the nature of this
country as a whole and of a conscious choice we are making about our future. (World History:
The Modern Era) Canada thought it was necessary to have one language, and it will make them
feel united. After this bill was established, Canada s government regretted and believed that there
should be two official language. Yet the citizens of Canada were still deciding if they wanted that
law to pass. We believe in two official languages and in a pluralist society, not

ABSTRACT In this paper, the student writer will discuss the methods that are taught in Hurt

way to reach others. Everybody goes through difficult trials and circumstances in their lives.
Sometimes we carry deep wounds from these traumatic episodes in our lives. If we don t learn
how to work through those episodes of trauma, we may ultimately hurt others. We then create a
generational trap in which we continuously hurt others the way in which we were hurt, if not
more so in the end. It becomes a generational curse and Dr. Wilson explains that the goal of
counseling is to develop new ways to end the generational curses that traumatize and affect us from
the inside out. When we learn new ways to cope and to heal, we then are able to end the viscous

Obstacles In Ralph Marston s The Daily Motivator
People face obstacles every day: the unbearable coworker, federal income taxes, and tupperware
with no matching lids. Pressing issues such as these already contribute enough stress to life as it
is, but for some, the obstacle is themselves. Whether this be because of guilt, poor self esteem, or
mental illness, it is important to realize the toxicity of this dynamic and prevent it, as it can lead
to serious consequences even more daunting than those of plastic wares. Ralph Marston, the
writer of The Daily Motivator, states that because of the pressures that many people face each
day, it s important to avoid this type of relationship with oneself. Despite how difficult it can be
for some to do so and the failure some meet, Marston s point holds extreme validity and could
prove to be beneficial when implemented in one s lifestyle. Throughout life people... Show more

But when the person themselves becomes an issue it creates a tango between the two, except
medieval torture style and both are wearing heated iron shoes. Because of this it is important to
tackle any issues that originate from oneself, a great example being Eleanor Longden. In her
college years she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and began hearing voices in her head. This
had troubled her a great deal and even led her to take a break from school; however, she decided
to take what she was given and make something of it, using it as a tool in her studies and
profession. Whether one feels self doubt because mom doesn t accept the neon leopard print
fringe as the real me or genuinely faces issues with self deprecation, many can take something
away from this. In the beginning of Longden s journey with Schizophrenia her life was riddled
with fear and feelings of defeat. How is one supposed to progress if they themselves are
prohibiting it? It is true that not everybody is as fortunate as her, but the day she overcame herself

Teenage Suicide Is A Leading Cause Of Teen Suicide
A sixteen year old girl gave into all the things she struggled on. The depression. The anxiety. The
stress. One day she decided it was all too much for her, so she killed herself. Many teens around the
United States have committed suicide without thinking first. According to the University of Texas,
75 percent of those who commit suicideare depressed. In teenagers, depression is considered a
leading cause of teen suicide. There are many factors that can cause depression in teenagers (
Teen Suicide Causes and Issues ). Teen suicide is mostly caused by depression. One reason
teenage suicide is mostly caused by depression is the symptoms. The changes in teen behaviors
are outrageous. They can go from happy to sad in a matter of a moment. This can be because of
their parent relationships or school related. The article Teenage Suicide Causes and Issues
defines that Dramatic changes or problems at home can be a cause of teen suicide. Sometimes
teenagers can t handle the upheaval created by divorce. This can be a very depressing time for
many teens. Sometimes, teenagers may feel as though the divorce is in some way their fault. This
can lead to feelings of guilt and shame (1). They could also be worried about their grades in school
because they are only getting worse. They may be pressured because they need college
scholarships. But, sometimes this can be normal to teens. According to Teen Depression , another

How Athletes Are Overpaid
How much of an importance on productivity do athletes have on today s society? Whether they
have little to none, their contracts and endorsements tend to say otherwise. For example, David
Beckham, a retired Los Angeles Galaxy soccer player, has received a forty eight million dollar
career total, while a GS 13 level astronaut makes roughly one hundred thousand dollars a year.
Some say that athletes earn their money just as we do, but that is not so apparent. Another
example is how Kobe Bryant is making twenty three million dollars this year. According to his
agent though, his on court abilities plus his talent justify his earnings, if this was the point in all
jobs, then doctors and lawyers would be making millions while athletes are put on the
backburner of society. This issue is so insanely horrible that bottom of the totem pole athletes are
still making hundreds of thousands more than most PhD graduates receive. Same goes for
injured players too. If an athlete is injured, then he is unable to play, yet he still receives his
money, because once the contract is signed, what is done is done. Athletes were not always paid
more than CEOs in today s market. In early stages of the American Football system, when it was
not corrupted, almost all of the players had to have a normal day job on top of playing, because
they played for fun, not for money. In today s economy, athletes and their pay checks are far too
large considering they are only used for entertainment, and they

  • 2. The Federal Reserve System And Economic Development The Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve System was created by Congress in 1913 and passed the Federal Reserve Act in order to provide for a safer and more flexible banking and monetary system. According to the changing needs of the system, its objectives have been changing throughout the history of the Fed. At first, its original purposes were to give the country an elastic currency, provide facilities for discounting commercial credits, and improve the supervision of the banking system under a decentralized bank. (The Federal Reserve System, 1984, 1). Prior to its establishment (the Fed), the supply of bank credit and money was inelastic, thus resulting in an irregular flow of credit and money, and contributed to unstable economic development. These objectives were aspects economic policies and national monetary. However, through time, stability and growth of the economy, high employment levels, stability in the purchasing power of the dollar, and reasonable balance in transactions with foreign currencies have become to be recognized as primary objectives of the governmental economic policy. The Fed is an independent central bank. Its decisions are not ratified by the president or any other government institutions. However, the Fed has to report to the Congress. The book of the Federal Reserve System (1984, 2) uses the term of independent within the government , since the Fed has to work within the framework of the objectives of economic and financial policy ... Network Administrator Has Higher Level Of Control Essay Contents Page Task 1 ................................................................................................................................................... 3 Task 2.................................................................................................................................................... 5 Task 3.................................................................................................................................................... 7 Task 1 Types of network LAN stands for Local Area Network. LAN is a type of network that interconnects computers and devices either wired or wireless and covers a greater distance. LAN is mainly used in private organisations such as college or university. More or less everyone uses wireless router at home these days and the user is able to connect between 5 10 devices wirelessly. The user can share the broadband or the connection with ADSL by using Ethernet cables. Smaller LANs can connect at least 2 3 computers using one cable. It also depends on the size of the organisation. Smaller LANs are easier to manage. The users need to be careful when using larger LANs and need to make sure that the network within it is transmitted efficiently. The user can increase the number of computers connected by using routers and switches. This ensures that the network administrator has higher level of control over the network. IEEE 802.3 is the wired Ethernet used by LAN and therefore it is related to LAN. The set up cost for LAN is relatively cheap. WAN stands for Wide Area Network. It is a type of network that interconnects the LANs meaning it connects the LANs together over large distance. WAN is used in school or college or in a joint network ... • 4. Summary Of Ways Of Seeing By John Berger In Ways of Seeing , John Berger discusses how the way people interpret thoughts is largely based on other factors. In the second line of the text he says, The child looks and recognizes before it speaks (Berger 142). Berger is telling people through this line that Seeing comes before words (Berger 142). Children must take in their environment before they acquire a language. This even translates to when they grow up and become adults. Adults take in their surroundings before beginning to discuss it with others. Berger then goes on and discusses how the past becomes mystified by people in society today. Cultural mystification of the past entails a double loss (Berger 145). When a painting is seen from our past, people tend to situate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seeing establishes our place in this world, but we use words to describe it. For example, a parent may pick a type of school that their child will go to. They will pick either public or private school. This will definitely shape the way the child views the world. Just picking one of these two types of school can change a child s friend group, and personality. When those two things are shaped, it affects how the child will see the world. He also goes on to say how there is a difference from what we see to what we know. He uses the example of seeing the sun set. How it looks like the sun is revolving around the earth, but we know it is the opposite. Then he says that our past knowledge influences how we see. In our day to day lives, many things affect our way of seeing including: parents, environment and social class. A person s way of seeing can be taken away from many people, including their parents. When kids are young, parents decide many factors for them. One of these factors tends to be religion. Choosing a child s religion can definitely influence the way that they see the world. The way we see things is affected by what we believe and what we know (Berger 142). If someone is being raised as a Christian, they are most likely going to see everything through God. Every landscape, sunset, and human are all there because God made it for them. On the other hand, if a child is being raised as an Atheist, then they will see the world very ... • 5. An Organization Is A System An organization is a system. A system s overall behavior depends on its entire structure, not the sum of its various parts. The structure determines the various behaviors, which determine the various events. It is critical that you do not break up a system into silos, but it equally critical that a company acknowledges its strengths from workforce and keep these smaller systems tied together as one large system. We will examine how the companies highlighted in the team presentations have achieved this success. Companies can use pay as a reward or reinforcer. Several of the class presentations discussed the issue of pay. There was a clear divide in how pay was used. Our evaluation is that the majority of the presentations used pay as a reward. Our perception is that Park Nicollet (PN) they use pay as a reinforcer. Luthans and Stajkovic call out in their article, Unless organizational participants are reinforced for their performance related behaviors, strategies, designs and technologies may have little impact. (Luthans Stajkovic 1999, p. 52). At PN, the system encourages and reinforces team culture, collaboration and allowing employees to be actively involved in improvement projects. PN professionals embrace and enjoy an environment of continuous process improvement. These opportunities increase the strength and frequency of the collaboration behavior that is needed to a primary care provider of choice in the market. Most organizations want to be an ... • 8. Hamlet And The Basic Human Need For Truth Hamlet and the Basic Human Need for Truth Marcus Aurelius is quoted as saying, Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth. This idea is examined in William Shakespeare s Hamlet, a play full of warmly delivered lies and completely intentional deceit. Hamlethimself shows how a life full of lies and deceit breeds a desire for something real. In the beginning of the play, authenticity is introduced as a rare trait and the Ghost reveals treachery to Hamlet setting him on a path that leads to his demise. Hamlet s actions are motivated by a search for something real and true in both his life and himself and in this search he comments on the nature of truth itself. Within Shakespeare s Hamlet resides a strong theme of illusion and reality shown in the attention that is drawn to the seeming and being within the characters. The play itself is about acting because not only are actors required to act out the parts that are written, but also the characters themselves are acting. They put on a facade just as an actor assumes a role on the stage (Bloom 11). Rosencrantz and Guildenstern seem to be concerned friends. Instead, they are simply acting as such because they are charged by the king to find the origin of Hamlet s peculiar behavior. Gertrude seems to be the dutiful queen that married Claudius for the benefit of the kingdom itself while she has simply failed to grieve her husband, dishonored his memory by marring so soon after ... There is some truth in the stories with a lot of opinion because it is told in the perspective of the individual who is telling the story, but all the stories appeal to rhetoric to an extent. In Drunk History: Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks, The story appeals to logos with deductive reasoning. Chemical Composition Of Cells Lab Report Chemical Composition of Cells Lab Report Tyler Thomason September 14, 2015 Introduction A cell, the building block of all living organisms, is composed of four fundamental biomolecules: proteins, carbohydrates, sugars and lipids. Proteins provide a vast amount of functions cells such as they serve as enzymes, provide structural support to cells, and act as antibodies. Reagents are used to spark a chemical reaction. The reagent used to detect protein traces in a substance is Biuret s. Biuret s will turn purple if proteins are present and blue if they are none. Biuret s copper particles, have a charge of +2, are diminished to a charge of +1 when peptide bonds, which are in proteins, are present, creating the color change. Polysaccharides, which are carbohydrates, are most notably known to provide energy to the body, but they also help in breaking down fatty acids. Iodine is the reagent used to determine whether a substance has starch in it. The iodine/starch complex has energy levels that are only for retaining unmistakable light, giving the complex its extraordinarily dark black blue shade. If there is no starch found, iodine will remain its natural yellowish brownish color, but if starch is present, iodine will turn blue black. I will also identify the original and early antitrust laws and how they have influenced the economy, as we know it today. Upon the completion of this paper you will understand who was set to benefit (gain) from anti legislation and who loses under the intentions of the antitrust laws today and in the past. LITERATURE REVIEW The United States antitrust legislation is a legislation designed to break up and prevent the formation of new monopolies to increase competition and societal welfare. Thus the United State Antitrust law is a collection of both state and federal government laws enacted to promote fair competition in the economy. The antitrust laws main statutes consist of the Sherman Act of 1890, the Clayton Act of 1914 and the Federal Trade Commission Act of 1914. In combination these acts have enforced the proper rules and regulations that businesses must conform to today to ensure that there is a healthy competition within the economy to not only the benefit of the consumers who utilize these services and goods but for the health of the businesses who make up our market industries. • 22. Film Analysis Of The Mise-En-Scene In Film The Mise en scene describes the elements and details in a scene of a film and the way they are shown and arranged. This being said, the lighting, makeup, costumes, setting and props are all key factors of Mise en scene. The setting in a film creates a sense of place, a mood, and may also reflect a character s emotional state. It can be entirely fabricated within a studio just like Rear Window or it may also be found and filmed on location. Perhaps the most easily visible aspect of mise en scene is costume. Costume can include both makeup or wardrobe choices that are used to convey a character s temperament or status, and to suggest these differences between characters. Lighting is a huge part of filmmaking. Lights are what a cinematographer uses to paint a set. They use lighting changes to help define characters, create a setting, or to portray how that character is feeling. In the next few paragraphs, I will point out all the cinimatograpgy of the Mise en scene from the clips from The Godfatherand Rear Window. The opening sequence of Rear Window is a curtain raiser... literally. it opens with the camera on the inside of J.B Jefferies(Jeff) s Livingroom in his apartment. The credits are shown on the scene of a window in jeffs apartment, while the blinds on the window behind them are slowly raised. Making me compare it to watching a production at the theater, where they raise the curtains at the start of the show. This opening scene takes the audience into a comfortable setting; we re in a seemingly nice neighborhood and it is a beautiful morning! As we start to take in the scene, The camera then cuts to an angled shot that is looking out of the window and down, where we follow a cat walking up the stairway and into the courtyard. The camera makes a brief stop at the ladder against the apartment building before it slowly tilts upwards (almost as if its were climbing the ladder!) the camera then stops at the upper apartment balcony where a small family can be seen getting ready. The camera then pans left, showing the audience all of the open windows on the apartment complex, where we can see that none of the windows has their curtains fully drawn or their blinds down for privacy. How Did The French Revolution Influence Art The French Revolution and the Art it Influenced Liberty, equality, fraternity, or death; the last, much the easiest to bestow, O Guillotine! wrote the famous author Charles Dickens, in his classic book, The Tale of Two Cities. The French Revolution (1789 1796) was a fight for liberty and equality, which ultimately led to the execution of Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, by way of guillotine. And, eventually Napoleon Bonaparte became the ruler of France. This was a transforming time in not just France s history, but European history and World history. The people of France were fed up with the monarchy and the burden of high taxes, as the monarch rulers squandered money away while the people faced famine and poverty. The Revolution was so powerful that artists not only painted about it, but they became revolutionaries themselves, like Jacques Louis David, who is famous for his works, Oath of the Horratii, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps. In 1830, the second French Revolution broke out and this was known as the Three Glorious Days , in which the people of France protested Charles X after he imposed ordinances that prevented freedom of the press and increased the power of his monarchy ( French Revolution , n.d.). The famous allegorical painting by Eugene Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People, is a historical depiction of the second French Revolution and illustrates the connection between socioeconomic and political issues, and art. This paper will look at David s Napoleon Crossing the Alps, and Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People and analyze the impact of the French Revolution on art of those periods. Jacques Louis David (1748 1825) was one of the most famous Neoclassist painters, as well as a devout revolutionary in 19th century France. He painted works that some consider propaganda of the time, yet he did so in pure Neoclassical fashion (Pollitt, n.d.). Eventually, he became the personal painter for Napoleon Bonaparte, as he continued to support the revolution through art. In Napoleon Crossing the Alps, we see a diagonal, yet static composition. The diagonal that is created by the horse is reminiscent of Baroque figures, yet it lacks the movement that the Baroque style portrayed so well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The University of Utah put it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different planet is they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period. Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to Search for Exoplanet.). Counterfeit pharmaceuticals continue to represent up to 40% of the total pharmaceutical market in Colombia and police and customs agencies have spent billions of COP trying to resolve this problem. clearly the trade of counterfeit pharmaceuticals is rapidly increasing, but is the cause the lack of legislation or is it the enforcement. This research seeks to analyze the causes of the rapid growth in the counterfeit pharmaceutical industry by analyzing the existence of sufficient legislation and the factors that hinder its enforcement particularly focusing on the complexity of the supply chain and the adaptation of anti counterfeit technology in Colombia. II. OVERVIEW OVER BACKGROUND AND EFFECTS OF COUNTERFEIT DRUGS. Counterfeit Medicines were acknowledged as a problem in the 1980s, when forgers started to copy lifestyle drugs to fight obesity and baldness (Lomb, 2014). Citizenship And International Development Education University of Waikato Exploring Citizenship, Gobal Citizenship, and Global Citizenship Education Global Citizenship and International Development Education PCSS507 Professor Michael A. Peters 13 August 2015 Exploring citizenship, global citizenship, and global citizenship education Abstract With the progression of globalization, the recognition of how to be a good citizen and how to act as a good citizen in the global age has drawn more and more attention. In addition, the direction of education shifts from the knowledge and skills dissemination to building global values to be well connected in the world. This paper aims to indicate multiple understandings of citizenship and specifically interprets three dimensions of citizenship: citizenship as a status, as a practice and as a feeling. Besides, understandings about global citizenship will be explored as well. Last but not the least, how global citizenship education is applied to the concepts of citizenship and global citizenship in order to be a good citizen and act as a good citizen. • 61. How Athletes Are Overpaid How much of an importance on productivity do athletes have on today s society? Whether they have little to none, their contracts and endorsements tend to say otherwise. For example, David Beckham, a retired Los Angeles Galaxy soccer player, has received a forty eight million dollar career total, while a GS 13 level astronaut makes roughly one hundred thousand dollars a year. Some say that athletes earn their money just as we do, but that is not so apparent. Another example is how Kobe Bryant is making twenty three million dollars this year. This issue is so insanely horrible that bottom of the totem pole athletes are still making hundreds of thousands more than most PhD graduates receive. Same goes for injured players too. If an athlete is injured, then he is unable to play, yet he still receives his money, because once the contract is signed, what is done is done. Athletes were not always paid more than CEOs in today s market. In early stages of the American Football system, when it was not corrupted, almost all of the players had to have a normal day job on top of playing, because they played for fun, not for money.
