Hunger, Malnutrition, And Famine
According to recent statistics from the United Nations World Food Program, 795 million people
across the globe, suffer from the effects of being undernourished ( Food Program, 2015, para. 1).
Both hunger and malnutrition serve to be the number one risk to health and well being, more so
than Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria combined ( FoodProgram, 2015, para. 1). Although the planet
produces enough food to feed everyone (Wright Boorse, 2014), hunger, malnutrition, and famine
continue to adversely affect people in both developed and developing nations. Children are
particularly susceptible to the ill effects of hunger and malnutrition as stunting or growth failure,
aside for disease, is the leading cause of abnormal growth development in children ( Stunting, n.d.).
In July of 2015, while serving as a health care provider, at a two day medical clinic in the
impoverished town of Suscal, Ecuador, a fairly young woman sought my treatment for her 12 year
old son who was suffering the consequences of chronic diarrhea from a parasitic infection
contracted by drinking contaminated water. Besides chronic diarrhea, the child also suffered the
after effects of the Hepatitis B virus, which was contracted by eating contaminated food. Most
stunning was the child s clinical presentation of being underdeveloped and underweight for a
normal 12 year old. Even more alarming was the fact that the child was missing both maxillary
incisors. Through an interpreter, the mother inquired as

Libor, the London Interbank Lending Rate, is considered to be one of the most important rates in
finance because trillions of financial contracts utilize this rate. Libor is used globally as a base
interest rate in which it is used to set up a range of financial deals. It is also used as measure for
financial institutions to gauge their trust level in the financial system and to check each institutions
financial health. This rate is determined by a group of leading banks that submit the rates of ten
different currencies and fifteen lengths of loans, which range from overnight to twelve months. The
most important part is the three month dollar Libor , which is the rate that other banks would
borrow from each other for three months. Traders managed to manipulate this rate because the rates
submitted are estimates; it would be relatively easy to submit false figures. Traders at several banks
conspired to influence the Libor by getting colleagues to submit rates that were higher or lower than
their actual estimate.
Libor is an interest rate that is determined by the rates at which banks lend funds to each other on
the London interbank market. Every day the banks submit their borrowing costs to the Thomson
Reuters data collection service in which an agent calculates out Libor. The agent discards the
highest and lowest quarter of submissions and then averages out the remaining rates to calculate out
Libor for the day. Barclays manipulated this rate by submitting rates

Similarities Between Islam And Christianity
With regards to the religions of Islam and Christianity, it is imperative to recognize that these two
practices account for some of the largest followings in the history of modern civilization. With that
being said, the links between Islam and Christianity can be astoundingly similar whilst also
offering key characteristics of difference. Although both emphasize certain ideals in differing
contexts, I d argue that it would be reprehensible not to recognize the power the devout followers
of both practices receive upon praying to their Godfrom above.
Islam is a Abrahamic monotheistic religion dating back to 610 CE Saudi Arabia, when the last and
final prophet Muhammad retrieved to a cave to pray and received revelations from God or ( Allah
Arabic word for God) through an angel by the name of Gabriel. These said revelations would
later be known as the beginning of the holy book the Quran . This event took place on Mount
Jabal An Nour, in a cave by the name of Hira. It is the world s second largest religion, and the
fastest growing religion. With over 1 billion followers in 50 countries worldwide (predominantly
countries in the Middle East) 24.1 % of the world s population.
B. Christian tradition is a collection of traditions consisting of practices or beliefs associated with
Christianity. These ecclesiastical traditions have more or less authority based on the nature of the

The Potato Peeler Analysis
The Potato Peeler (1885) (Fig. 1) (reverse: Self Portrait with a Straw Hat) (1887) (Fig. 2) by
Vincent van Gogh (1853 1890) is one of many paintings that lack highly saturated hues and
colors by van Gogh. Many have a misconception that his darker and less saturated paintings come
from a short time in his life when he experimented with dark colors; the reality is that his more
saturated paintings were not developed until the last four years of his life and his less saturated
pieces come from a longer period in his life. Given how different the two pieces are, one can
assume they are unrelated; but they really show how much he grew as an artist and how much he
challenged himself to move from less saturated still lifes, portraits, etc. to... Show more content on

Much, if not all, of his work before 1886 was very similar; he used vibrant color infrequently if it all
and painted dark landscapes, still lifes, and portraits (like The Potato Peeler). It was not until he
left for France in 1886 that he decided to focus more on himself, thus transforming his style into
what we recognize more easily today. There seems to be a misconception that he had always
painted with vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly
saturated colors for a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean
François Millet to paint rural scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more
that 40 portrait studies of peasants, including The Potato Peeler (Department of European
Paintings). These studies would then lead to his piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van
Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because he intended to relay to the viewers a
feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh was more focused on life around
him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. Although the use of light and shadow may be
exaggerated to some extent, the color stays accurate to what humans do look like. A few more
minor pieces were painted after in the same style as The Potato Peeler; but after his move to
France, his style changes to the more vibrant and impressionist style we know today. Van Gogh had
realized that the style of

Security Controls For Effective Cyber Defense

Term Mitigating Actions Using the 20 Critical Security Controls , was written from the view of an
external security consultant Philip G. Rynn , and published by the SANS Institute, which is an
educational organization that has the largest collection of research documents regarding
information security. The paper correctly examined the United Airlines breach in May 2015 and
offered near, mid and long term actions that should be executed by the United Airlines senior
security staff to alleviate the effects of system breaches and lessen the probability of further
occurrences. The nature of the United Airlines (UA) breach was related to specific but... Show more

with the Sakula malware. Furthermore, the author assumptions about how the attacks were related

paper was very easy to follow and clear to understand even if the reader has no technical
background. The author was fair when weighing different sides of assumptions, without being bias
or ignoring the other undesirable side. The overall logic and organization of the paper were
comprehensible and easy to perceive.
In my opinion, the paper made me agree with many significant aspects in connecting several data
breaches that were recently happened, along with some strategy insights that could be deployed to
strengthen and prevent similar incidents in the future. Starting with the introduction, the author was
informative in convincing me on the important and the impact of information security not only in
the public and privet sector of a country, but in general by enlightening me about cyber security, its
different forms, and the reasons why attackers perform it. Then, the author goes further in clarifying

behind it since the compromised information is not on

Eu And Non Eu Nations Essay
On 23rd of June 2016, a slight majority of citizens of the United Kingdom voted to leave the
European Union. This historical event was called Brexit (abbreviation for British Exit), and the
news has shaken the world, brought anxiety about the future of the United Kingdom. It will
particularly influence international trade, due to the point that one of the most significant role of
EU is encouraging free trade among its members. Also, trade contracts signed between EU and
non EU nations applied to all EU members, and UK has been largely benefited by them. The
proportion of trade with EU are enormous: ranging from 38 percent to 49 percent for import, and
49 percent to 55 percent for export in 2015, respectively (HM Revenue and Customs, 2016).
However, since UK will no longer be a member of the EU, she has to renegotiate with EU and
also other nations. It is fairly possible that the UK will not be able to sustain its strong position in
international society once it loses advantages of belonging to EU. This essay will demonstrate
various influences Brexit will have on the UK s international trade relations and effects on the
business growth of each industry: primary, secondary, and tertiary.
Primary industry
Influence of Brexit will be crucial for primary industries such as agriculture, and oil and gas
production, and these negative effects will weaken its voice in international trade negotiation.

Write An Argumentative Essay On Bigfoot
My logic is that i think bigfoot is real because,if god put dinosaurs and all them kind of animals
what s the difference between a flying thing that can eat u or a 1000 pound trex monster different
than a bear human like creature that we humans call bigfoot. Scientist found skulls and bones of
bigfootbut some people have claimed to have saw bigfoot but some people have also said they

oversized and just bigger than what people think they are but when it is night and u see a figure
in the dark sometimes people think it is a lot bigger than what it appears to be.Scientist have
studied bigfoot and found a bunch of evidence the proved bigfoot is real like one of the things that

Creationism vs. Evolutionism in Public Schools
Debate: Creationism vs. Evolution in Schools: 1st Affirmative Constructive Speech
Creationism and Evolutionism by definition are very different topics. Currently, evolutionary
naturalism is the most widely taught view of origins in America. In schools in the modern day, only
evolutionism is taught and condoned. But before the 1920s, only creationism was taught, and
evolution was forbidden. Then, on February 20, 2008, the Florida State Board of Education voted to
revise the public school guidelines to require teachers to teach only Evolutionism. The law was
passed with a very narrow 4 to 3 vote in favor of the law. Our resolution (affirmative side) is to
teach both the theories of evolution and creationism side by side. This would ... Show more content

An additional chink in the system is that the theory of evolution has many gaps that need to be
filled by something like the theory of creation. While evolution may be the dominating theory in
Florida school boards, it does not provide some answers to several areas that Creationism may
actually answer, such as how the first organism, Earth, or the entire Universe came to be. On the
other hand, Creationism has equally as many holes that can be filled by the Evolutionary Theory
such as how all the species of the earth became what they are now. Creationism and Evolutionism
are not that different. In 1969, when American astronauts first stood on the moon, they read from
the bible. Men of science and technology, reading from the Book of Genesis. This is an example of
how an individual can believe in evolution and other scientific theories and still have faith.
Our plan to resolve these harms is this: the state of Florida should teach Creationism and
Evolution side by side. Each theory would be taught sequentially and would have its own chapter
of discussion. Teaching both, side by side, in the same class would provide a fair and equal
opportunity of religion, education and choice. It would give the youth an opportunity to learn and

Nietzsche s On The Genealogy Of Morality
In section 13 of Friedrich Nietzsche s On the Genealogy of Morality, he presents his audience
with a metaphor, That the lambs feel anger toward the great birds of prey does not strike us as
odd: but that is no reason for holding it against the great birds of prey that they snatch up the little
lambs for themselves. (Section 13, 25). In this passage, Nietzsche details the complex relationship
between the birds of prey and the lambs. Firstly, I argue that the birds of prey represent the noble
class, and the lambs represent the slave class. This metaphor offers insight into their complex
relationship that ultimately led to a shift from noble to slave morality. Secondly, I argue that this
metaphor aids Nietzsche s broader goals in this piece by explaining the... Show more content on

I will show this by doing a close reading of section 13 and detailing the claims made by Nietzsche
throughout book 1.
In section 13, Nietzsche begins by saying, But let us come back: the problem of the other origin
of good, of the good one was conceived by the man of ressentiment, demands its conclusion.
(Section 13, 25). Here Nietzsche is setting up who the lambs represent in his moral theory. He is
arguing that whomever falls under the category of the man of ressentiment is also the group who
originated their own definition of good. This group of people would be the slaves or the lambs.
When Nietzsche says, the man of ressentiment he is talking about a very specific emotion that
occurred between the lambs and the birds of prey. When the slaves saw how powerful, noble, and

A Feminist Analysis Of Batman s Wonder Woman
Moulton created Wonder Woman to fight the ideals of hypermasculinity in the comic book
industry by introducing a character who would fight with compassion and grace rather than
brute force. At the same time, DC was trying to expand their audience to a female centric
readership. So just 2 years after Batman s introduction Wonder Woman made her first appearance
in All Star comics (1941), she got her solo series in June 1942, in the post first wave feminist era.
Wonder Woman #1 (1942) mainly focuses on Diana s origin story and the history of Amazonia,
familiarizing the reader with her character and setting out a franchise that would be revered for its
strong feminist views, but is wonder woman really the feminist icon we make her out to be? Is...

Marlow s Racism in Heart of Darkness
Heart of Darkness is an intriguing story as well as a symbol for Joseph Conrad s social
commentary on imperialism. Marlow s journey takes him deep into the African Congo where he
bears witness to a number of life altering revelations. He beholds his most striking revelation when
he begins to compare the civilized European man with the savage African man. These two opposing
forces represent the two conflicting viewpoints present in every dilemma, be it cultural, social, or
otherwise. As a modern European man who believes religiously in imperialism, Marlow is
inherently arrogant. Yet, although he cannot accept the African jungle as being equally important

trust to faith, to believe so much in something that it will preserve our sense of self even when it

Africans fascinate Marlow, lure that part of him that wants to escape from the surface realities
created by sociality. Is it a deliberate belief that saves him from asserting his attraction, or an

the notion of a deliberate belief because Marlow unshakeably believes that work contains truth (and
he can assert this truth against the truth of the Africans) and is not another system of surface reality

Development Of Generic Product And Approval
Generally, an ANDA sponsor of the topical dermatological product has to undergo multiple
review cycles with the FDA before the product gets approved and the sponsor has to wait for a
longer time mostly. Even though the ICH CTD, ICH Q8 describes the generation of product
development report, it is not still clear to ANDA sponsors how this actually applies. As a result,
more internal meetings and discussions between the sponsors and the FDA delays the product
approval. One of the ways to overcome these challenges is to have a product development report
with verified and justified specifications based on the QbD efforts which can help the Office of
Generic Drugs (OGD) to be efficient in understanding the developed generic product and approval

The foremost criteria in developing a generic topical dermatological product is to meet the
pharmaceutical and therapeutic equivalency of the RLD. A therapeutic equivalence is the one
which has the same clinical effect and safety profile as given in the label of the RLD and a
pharmaceutical equivalence is the one which contains identical amount of same active ingredient
corresponding to the same route of administration in the same dosage form with similar
mechanism of release and similar rate and extent of the absorption of the RLD. The current
paradigm to get an approval by an ANDA sponsor is by proving the therapeutic equivalence to the
RLD by testing whereas the proposed QbD approach requires the sponsors to meet the equivalence
on the basis of defined design targets. More specifically, a well defined rational approach behind
each testing is required for proving the pharmaceutical equivalence and bioequivalence [18].
When talking about the design of equivalence of a generic dermatological topical product, the
criteria for Q1 and Q2. Additionally, in some cases, the Q3 criteria has to be satisfied in addition

be a feasible option if the patent of the RLD is considerably protected. In such cases, the generic

Donald Trump s Reputation In Politics
Donald Trump has said many things that many would consider unwise. One of his famous quotes
was, Likewise, tremendous infectious disease is pouring across the border. The United States has
become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world. 1 That is
just one example of how Trump, though he is undeniably a fantastic business man, would make a
poor president. For though he is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, businessmen in the
world, Donald John Trump, Sr. is simply not suited for the world of politics. The reason he is not
suited for that world is because he is commonly seen as racist, lacks common sense, and is
completely uneducated in politics.
The first point that is in need of being addressed, is that Mr. Trump has the reputation to be a racist
person. While there is normally some bias as to whether or not a person s comments are racist,
Trump has taken away any benefit of the doubt that he had when he made this comment:
This was evident just this week when, as an example, a young woman in San Francisco was
viciously killed by a five time deported Mexican with a long criminal record, who was forced back
into the United States because they didn t want him in Mexico. This is merely one of thousands ...

only speaking on the behalf of himself, he is speaking on the behalf of a country. A country that has

Corruption In The Catholic
The Vatican, situated within Rome, Italy, is the capital of the Catholic faith. Lead by a Pope,
who is chosen by the Cardinals when one dies or retires, is the source of leadership for Catholics
around the world. It has also been a source for many conspiracy theories. Dan Brown even set his
Illuminati based novel Angels and Demons in the holy city of Catholics. Many others love to have
Illuminati base theories set within this important place. What people do not realize is that there is a
much deeper, very real corruptiongoing on within the walls of the sacred city. The Vatican

While it is still debatable on whether or not the information in the expository books is trustworthy
or not, there is no doubt that financial mismanagement existed. If there had been no
mismanagement, it would be very odd that Pope Francis created groups and hired others to help
with the finances and odd that he chastised employees for the debts. It seems that Pope Francis is
indeed what the leadership of the Catholics needed. He has begun changing the way things are in
social concerns as well. He focuses on changing the Vatican and the leadership of the faith for
the better. Financial corrections and the end of corruption is just one of the many ways he is
doing so. While it is not the deep conspiracy corruption many in the world fantasize about, the
financial troubles because of officials not wanting to pay so much or whatever truly happened is
still a troubling corruption in itself. Those who work for the papacy need to embody the traits that
believers would expect of someone who works for the Catholic faith. Pope Francis is the one who

The Perfect Storm
LEC 347
1
The perfect storm is referring to a realistic case scenario is usage of resources such as
phosphates, nitrate, fertilizers, water and land continues as it is. It predicts that for example
phosphates that are mined will be gone by 2050 leading to a large deficit on food production.
Furthermore, there are key water resources that have been shown to be used above its rate of
regeneration, which means that freshwater resources are also at risk. This culmination of these
resources deficits through usage are what is known as the perfect storm with some reference to an
increase in resources as well due to an increasing population.
The major resource limitations include phosphate fertilizers because they are mined for resources.

Therefore, more resources need to be invested in finding alternative fuels to help solve this crisis.
iii) Water shortages are a concern to agriculture because a lack of water leads to either poorly
developed crops or to dead crops, thereby creating food shortages. Biologists has two primary roles
to play in the fight against water shortages. The first role is a research role, which is the
development of more water efficient crops, cropping systems and creating alternatives to meat
which has a very high water cost. The second role they have to play is with interacting with both the
public and the government and working together with them to improve legalisation in agricultural
legislation, taxing and helping form public and school education programmes talking about the
water footprint.
In research it is essential to find alternatives to meat products. This is because, meat products boasts
a significantly higher Waterfoot print than crops alone. This is based upon the theory of
biotrophism, plants absorb 1% of the energy of the sunlight and herbivores only gain the benefits of
10% of the energy supplied by plants. Therefore, humans only gain 1% of the total energy from the
crops. However, despite this humans tend to choose meat products over plant ones. Therefore,
coming up with meat product alternatives is essential to the fight against climate change.
In recent years this has been

College Tuition Should Be Free Essay
College Tuition Should Be Free For All Students
College tuition should be free because even with a good degree it is hard for students to overcome
the crippling debt of college tuition. High tuition prices are also an obstacle that keeps out those
without access to affordable education, even though they may be great candidates who may do well
in college and head their field in the future. The current system displays several flaws. The
government should put the money slotted for financial aid into the state s education budget so that
tuition can be free and to create a better and more fruitful learning environment.
College debt in the U.S. has risen to just around 1.2 trillion dollars and rises about $2,726 every
second (Berman). These numbers are astronomical, and to put them in perspective, the to tal debt of
the United States of America is just under 20 trillion. When starting to see numbers to this degree, it
s time to take action by not letting this debt grow any larger and trying to start lowering it. People
are beginning to understand that our current system may not be viable in the future. More than two
thirds of Americans support tuition free college because they want an ed ucation themselves or for
their children, but don t want to be beset with crippling debt throughout the rest of their lives
(White).
College should be free for students because the U.S. government has many ways to make
reasonable changes that would lead to a surplus of money that they then

one of the reasons they stayed around so long. This river gave them fertile soil, and also played a
big role in their religious practices. The ancient Indian civilization lasted from 3300 BC to 1500
BC. (Kokila) Ancient India had very broad social pyramid requirements and the classes were
servants, farmers, warriors and king, and the highest class which was above the king. If it were not
for the Ganges River or any other natural resource in the Indus Valley the ancient Indian
civilization would not have survived very long. The Ganges River is also sometimes referred to
as the Ganga River, and it played a big part in the survival of ancient India. Since it is known to
be a symbol of the goddess Ganga, the Ganga River also influenced the religious beliefs of
ancient India. It was believed by Hindus to be holy water and if you swam in it you would be
forgiven for all of your sins. (Ganga River) This river gave them fertile soil to grow crops on,
and without it the ancient Indian civilization would never have succeeded because they could not
have gone anywhere to grow crops and. (Ganga River) If it were not for the agriculture that the
river gave ancient India there would be no social class or government. The Ganges River and the
Himalayas combined to protect ancient India from invaders and other civilizations.

Women Should Not Be A Mandatory Procedure For Chinese Women
Throughout history, women have tried many different ways to make themselves as beautiful as
possible to be accepted into their society. In the eleventh century, Foot Binding seemed to be a
mandatory procedure for Chinese Women. It was an excruciating process that women would go
through to please their husbands. Footbinding became popular as a means of a flaunting status
because women from wealthy families who did not need them to work could afford to have their
feet bound The practice became so established that a womanwho did not have bound feet would
have difficulty finding a husband, for most families they demanded a woman with tiny feet
when selecting a wife for their son. The woman who refused to bind her feet was known to
become an outcast and even punished to death. There are a thousand buckets of tears for one
who binds her feet and 5,000 more for the one who unbinds. ( ) Many young girls did it because
it was a mark of beauty and Chinese women with the smallest feet were given the best chance of
living a luxurious life style. This time in history was known to have lasted for at least one
thousand years. Although, Foot Binding was appreciated by Chinese men, but for women it didn
t seem like something to look forward too. This was an excruciating method of women folding all
of her toes, except for the big toe, into the sole of her foot. It was so that her foot appeared smaller
and pointier. This tradition began in the north, later spreading to all parts of

Brics, India, China And South Africa
I. Introduction
The acronym of BRICS refers to a group of five emerging economies Brazil, Russia, India, China
and South Africa which represent nearly 30% of the earth s surface and 40% of world s
population . BRIC acronym was initially introduced by Chief Economist of Goldman Sachs in
his report Building Better Global Economic BRICs (2001). In 2010 South Africa was added to
this group of countries because of its increasing economy. Goldman Sachs in its long term
outlook in 2009 forecasted that BRICs economy will become as big as the G7 countries by 2032
and China s economy will become as big as the US economy by 2027.
One of the main reasons why BRICS gained important role in global economy was not only the
population and geographical features, but also the growth rate and increasing share in the
international trade. The BRICS share in world trade has increased from 3.6% in 1990 to 15% in
2010 and share in world GDP increased from 16% in 2000 to 25% in 2010.
It is evidenced that export is the main driver of economic growth in BRICS countries as they
implemented export oriented growth strategies. Brazil is very rich in coffee, soybean, sugar, and
crude oil. Major share in Russia s export is natural resources: gas, oil and natural minerals. South
Africa is the richest country in the world for reserves in chromium, platinum, platinum and alumino
silicates. Additionally South Africa generates and exports 45 per cent of Africa s total electricity.

Historians And Their Discourse Community
Historians do research and analyze on past events, old documents, videos and pictures. The
information they get from these sources develops their discourse communities. Each major has its
own discourse communities. A discourse community is a group of people who share common
goals and communicate together in order to achieve goals the group has set for themselves.
Historians conduct research and analysis for businesses, newspapers, governments, and historical
associations. They write historiography essays, and their research sometimes leads them to writing
their very own history books. Many historians build up historical profiles on a certain person,
place, idea, or event. Once they have their research done they look at the work of other historians

Football As Sport Of Masses
Football is the most popular sports in the world. The game was born in England with the
formation of the Football Association, and the same rules still apply since 1863. The word
soccer was derived from Association . the first game ever played under the Association rules was
between Richmond and Barnes and the final score was 0 0. FIFA is the association that states
the rules. FIFA stands for FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football Association). Rules Football
as sport of masses According to a study conducted by FIFA in 2006, 2 270 million people
worldwide are actively involved in football, including players, referees and directors. Of these,
265 million people play the sport. This represents about 4% of world population. This numbers
make Football one of the most popular sports in the world. Why did I choose this topic. Football
is made of passion and it gathers masses of people. The introduction of technologies in sports
will help to reduce the human error and eradicate those errors. Goal line technology determines
when the ball has crossed the line. Cases In 1966 England played East Germany in the final of
the world cup. The Game was tied in Wembley 2 2 and with eleven minutes of extra time Geoff
Hurst swivelled and shot from close range. The ball hit the underside of the cross bar and
bounced down, apparently on or just over the line and was cleared. After the ball hit the underside

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Today we are living in the era of internet where everything
depends on it. As the days and years passes, traffic on internet is increasing abundantly, users
wants high speed internet which can give the result of their aspired question within a fraction of
seconds. To accomplish the requirement of the user, the need for improvement of existing
network architecture. Here comes the role of SDN which is an emerging network architecture,
our project is based on it which is discussed in later chapters. In the introduction part we are
going to check about SDN and its related components. Software Defined Networking ( SDN )
Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging network architecture where network control
is decoupled from forwarding and is directly programmable . [1] The key computing trends
driving the need for a new network paradigm include the following: Changing traffic patterns:
Applications that commonly access geographically distributed databases and servers through
public and private clouds require extremely flexible traffic management and access to bandwidth
on demand. The consumerization of IT : The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend requires
networks that are both flexible and secure. The rise of cloud services: Users expect on demand
access to applications, infrastructure, and other IT resources. Big data means more bandwidth:
Handling today s mega datasets requires massive parallel processing that is fueling a constant

The Importance Of Mission Command In The First Battle Of...
Mission Command in the First Battle of the Marne
The First Battle of the Marne was the first major battle of World War I. Fought in September of
1914, the battle marked the end of the German advance toward Paris and the beginning of trench
warfare. The battle exhibited a number of firsts in the history of warfare, motorized movement of
troops and interception of radio communications. It indicated that the war would not be a quick
victory for Germany (Klein, 2014). Joseph Joffre, the French Commander in Chief, exhibited
ingenuity and leadership to yield a significant victory while the Helmuth von Moltke the younger,
the German chief of staff, demonstrated a failure of mission command resulting in defeat.
The Schlieffen Plan was a German battle plan to fight a two front war devised in 1905 by Alfred
von Schlieffen as the Chief of the General Staff for Germany. The plan called for the German
army to apply overwhelming force in France to capture the capital of Paris within six weeks
before changing focus to Russia. The plan intended to achieve a quick and decisive victory by
sweeping a line of armies through neutral Belgium and into France. In actuality, Helmuth von
Moltke made significant changes to Schlieffen s original plan before and during World War I
.
Ultimately, the plan ended in failure when the German advance halted at the First Battle of the
Marne (Limbach, 2014).
The advent of World War I saw the swift movement of German forces through Europe into France.

which could mean that the tyrantbelieves that their way is the correct way when it comes to

Dunbar in another article (undated) included expertise as part of the scientific thinking. Ayalon and
Even (2008) notes association and plausible inference as other processes. Further reading, though,
indicates that the processes mentioned may not be clear cut in their use, that is, one process may
be a part of another process. Most of the methods mentioned by Dunbar and Klahr (2012) will be

Dunbar (undated) highlighted three aspects scientific thinking, one of which is hypothesis testing.
In hypothesis testing logic is applied to a set of statements. These statements or propositions are a
combination of premises and conclusions. The premises and their conclusions are evaluated for
their truthfulness or justifiability of explanation. How these propositions are examined is referred
to as reasoning strategies. There are three strategies in hypothesis testing: induction, deduction and
abduction. These three processes also referred to as Peirce s Inferential Triad, can be used under
other reasoning processes such as causal reasoning. In addition, hypothesis testing may be on an
individual level or collaboratively (note that collaborative reasoning is mentioned as a reasoning
process by Dunbar and Klahr (2012)).

Posse Commitatus Act Essay
Another law that Cooper has an issue with is the The Posse Comitatus Act. The Posse Comitatus
act made it a felony for the Armed Forces to perform the law enforcement duties of the civilian
police but in 1981 the military was permitted to give civilian police departments access to military
bases, research, and equipment to strengthen these departments capacity to wage the War on Drugs
(Balko, 2006; powell Hershenov, 1990). Policeofficers were then trained to use military
equipment. Reagan declared drugs a national security, lifted the ban on the army s ability to
train the police force, and the police and army began to collaborate. By 1994, the Department of
Defense authorized the large scale transfer of military equipment and technology to police
departments (Balko, 2006; powell Hershenov, 1990). Between the erosion of the 4th amendment
and the Posse Comitatus Act policing had begun to get out of control and poorer neighborhoods
had become the targets. In a single 8 block area of a predominately Black and Latino neighborhood

The Three Major Aspects Of Industrialization From 1865 To...
There are three major aspects of industrialization from 1865 to 1920 that influenced U.S. society,
economy and politics. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government.
Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more
factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs.
Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the
changes that were made to society.
The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and
skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man
could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast
emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct
from an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the
weather, the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and
development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War.
American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the
upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be
invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution.

The Consequences Of Prison Recidivism
Improving Prison Reentry and Reducing Recidivism
Recidivism is a social problem that continues year after year. The National Institute of Justice
claims that this is one of the most fundamental concepts in criminal justice. They also provide
some statistic. Within three years of release, about two thirds (67.8 percent) of released prisoners
were rearrested. Within five years of release, about three quarters (76.6 percent) of released
prisoners were rearrested. Of those prisoners who were rearrested, more than half (56.7 percent)

This title alone may cause individuals to be over looked for jobs they are qualified for. To help
solve this problem he suggests something called Second Chance Legislation. Based on the nature
of the crime, evidence supports that if an individual has not reoffended or recommitted a crime,
enough time has passed for an individual to learn from there mistake and if they have not commit
a crime will not due so. Heroux suggests expunging their criminal record as if it never happened at
all. There are other things to consider when discussing recidivism. Yes, it s important to note how
the issue can be solved, but it s also important to note why it is happening so often.

as well. Also on the list of troubles are gambling, legal problems, violence and mental illness. 80

million people) have a problem with compulsive gambling (Myers 6). Violence is a serious issue
in the workplace. As many as 20 workers a week are murdered (Cascio 589). On the job violence
may be the effect of any number of stressors on an employee who feels there is no other way to
vent his frustration. There could be any number of reasons, previously stated and otherwise, that
might precipitate legal problems also. Legal problems and gambling debts are two additional
stressors that an otherwise outstanding employee may have to tackle, causing him to be violent or
in some other way troubled. An employee may have other issues that may not be as obviously

Back in my days, we were not fortunate enough to... Gotcha! Did you expect that to be a dull story
like our grandparents or parents may have told to show us how much more difficult their lives
were? Not exactly, this writing is about how college students of this generation make use of digital
technology. The wide spread of today s technology via computers or smartphones results in constant
connectivity to the internet. Social media, video gaming, information databases, and online classes,
have affected college students studies, causes a wider academic gap between distracted students
and self disciplined students. College students own a computer or smartphone, a more compact and
mobile version of a computer, or both. Thanks to the mobility of smartphones that makes them
ubiquitous, accessing the internet is effortless. Frequently, I notice students dotting all over the
campus interacting with their smartphones. In his book, Smarter Than You Think, Clive
Thompson states, Our tools are everywhere, linked with our minds, working in tandem (p. 347).
In other words, we are likely to be using our computers whenever we have a chance. In particular,
students from my writing class opt to use their smartphones during our short ten minute break. For
instance, sharing a similar experience, the author of Is Google Making Us Stupid?, Nicholas Carr
says he is likely to use a computer when he is not working (par. 3). In brief, smartphones

I decided to take a Christmas vacation after a long tour in England. At the end of my vacation I
boarded a train back to The Hague, where I planned to resume dancing. On its way from Paris
the train was in an accident, I wasn t harmed, but I was left waiting out the 12 hour delay on the
platform. It was cold and snowy waiting on the platform in my pajamas. Once I got to Holland
within days of the accident I developed double lung pneumonia. My illness worsened, on my
deathbed I was still passionate about dance.I died on January 22, 1931 in The Hague, Netherlands.
My final words were to have my swan costume prepared and finally play the last measure

Pros And Cons Of Enhancing Competitive Markets
Increasing Competition There is no such thing as free markets . That is why I call them
competitive markets . All real markets are political institutions in which some form of market
masters, usually government, regulate economic competition among different groups within a
society. On August 31st 1910 Republican Theodore Roosevelt delivered a fiery speech in
Kansas. The former president celebrated the extraordinary new commercial power but also gave
warning that America s industrial economy had been taken over by a handful of corporate giants
that were generating an unparalleled wealth for a small number of people are exercising a
growing control over America s politics. Roosevelt cautioned that the county founded on the
principle of equal opportunity was in danger of becoming a land of corporate privilege, and
pledged to do whatever he could to bring the new giants under control. In the 1970 s the U.S.

The government should pursue policies that encourage and facilitate business formations,
operations and competition. Local and National governments need to reduce or maintain low
barriers to the formation of new businesses thereby encouraging entrepreneurship. The government
can also play a key role in entrepreneurship by improving the environment for entry and operations.
All government policies need to limit hindering incentives, initiative, innovation, productivity,
investment, research and development. The government always needs to continually simplify tax
laws and regulations in other words, red tape in order to facilitate the business market place.
Regulators should not over regulate the good but instead look more for the bad and increase their
punishments. Government needs to insure a level playing field in the business marketplace to
insure fair

Scott Russell Sanders Under The Influence Summary
Scott Russell Sanders wrote Under the Influence, a memoir depicting his alcoholic father whose
many drunk dysfunctional states affected his life. Whose haunting demons from his death
leaves Sanders with a guilt that, ...burns like acid in my veins, (252) in certain moods. Like
Sanders, I was left feeling anxious and guilty after the knowledge of Daniel s, my older brother,
diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes in 2011. At the age of 13, he was admitted into the hospital hooked
up to various machines and their wires poking at him in different places on his body. As a
younger sister, the anxiety I had about his health made me more concerned, leaving him to feel
like a burden. I did not understand how awful this diagnosis was and what we had to change, as a
family, for the good of his life. Daniel stayed in the hospital for four days and was completely out
of it; having no sense of his surroundings. In Under the Influence, Sanders father becomes ragged
and melancholy and a different person because of his dependence on alcohol, ... our father was
clearly in the wrong mind, (247). Like Sanders father, Daniel became dependent on his medicine
changing him from a boy who could eat and do what he pleased with someone who is restricted
and angered. He cannot eat whatever he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a 11 year old girl, I felt left out and craving their attention. Sanders felt guilty for his father s
alcoholism I tell myself he drinks to ease an ache that gnaws at his belly, an ache I must have
caused by disappointing him somehow..., (242). He feels he needs to be perfect to prevent his
father from indulging drinks, as I feel I need to be perfect for my parents in order to get their
attention. I feel as if it is my fault they were in this predicament with my brother. My anxiety grew
as I was only trying to understand what I could do to make things better and comprehend how they

Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table
Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table
the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table
they were in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and
mendeleev periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of
octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also
arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other
things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and
periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of
elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new
paradigm, with all of the elements positioned within a logical matrix..
Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after
organising the cards while playing patience he suddenly realised that by arranging the element
cards in order of increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or
periods . But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the
elements which belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out
the atomic mass of the missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were
discovered, Mendeleev turned out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an
undiscovered element that should fit below aluminium in his table. When this element, called
gallium, was discovered in 1875, its properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions.
Two other predicted elements were later discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s

Hunger, Malnutrition, And Famine According to recent statistics from the United Nations World Food Program, 795 million people across the globe, suffer from the effects of being undernourished ( Food Program, 2015, para. 1). Both hunger and malnutrition serve to be the number one risk to health and well being, more so than Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria combined ( FoodProgram, 2015, para. 1). Although the planet produces enough food to feed everyone (Wright Boorse, 2014), hunger, malnutrition, and famine continue to adversely affect people in both developed and developing nations. Children are particularly susceptible to the ill effects of hunger and malnutrition as stunting or growth failure, aside for disease, is the leading cause of abnormal growth development in children ( Stunting, n.d.). In July of 2015, while serving as a health care provider, at a two day medical clinic in the impoverished town of Suscal, Ecuador, a fairly young woman sought my treatment for her 12 year old son who was suffering the consequences of chronic diarrhea from a parasitic infection contracted by drinking contaminated water. Besides chronic diarrhea, the child also suffered the after effects of the Hepatitis B virus, which was contracted by eating contaminated food. Most stunning was the child s clinical presentation of being underdeveloped and underweight for a normal 12 year old. Even more alarming was the fact that the child was missing both maxillary incisors. Through an interpreter, the mother inquired as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Libor, the London Interbank Lending Rate, is considered to be one of the most important rates in finance because trillions of financial contracts utilize this rate. Libor is used globally as a base interest rate in which it is used to set up a range of financial deals. It is also used as measure for financial institutions to gauge their trust level in the financial system and to check each institutions financial health. This rate is determined by a group of leading banks that submit the rates of ten different currencies and fifteen lengths of loans, which range from overnight to twelve months. The most important part is the three month dollar Libor , which is the rate that other banks would borrow from each other for three months. Traders managed to manipulate this rate because the rates submitted are estimates; it would be relatively easy to submit false figures. Traders at several banks conspired to influence the Libor by getting colleagues to submit rates that were higher or lower than their actual estimate. Libor is an interest rate that is determined by the rates at which banks lend funds to each other on the London interbank market. Every day the banks submit their borrowing costs to the Thomson Reuters data collection service in which an agent calculates out Libor. Similarities Between Islam And Christianity With regards to the religions of Islam and Christianity, it is imperative to recognize that these two practices account for some of the largest followings in the history of modern civilization. With that being said, the links between Islam and Christianity can be astoundingly similar whilst also offering key characteristics of difference. Although both emphasize certain ideals in differing contexts, I d argue that it would be reprehensible not to recognize the power the devout followers of both practices receive upon praying to their Godfrom above. The Potato Peeler Analysis The Potato Peeler (1885) (Fig. 1) (reverse: Self Portrait with a Straw Hat) (1887) (Fig. 2) by Vincent van Gogh (1853 1890) is one of many paintings that lack highly saturated hues and colors by van Gogh. Many have a misconception that his darker and less saturated paintings come from a short time in his life when he experimented with dark colors; the reality is that his more saturated paintings were not developed until the last four years of his life and his less saturated pieces come from a longer period in his life. Given how different the two pieces are, one can assume they are unrelated; but they really show how much he grew as an artist and how much he challenged himself to move from less saturated still lifes, portraits, etc. to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much, if not all, of his work before 1886 was very similar; he used vibrant color infrequently if it all and painted dark landscapes, still lifes, and portraits (like The Potato Peeler). It was not until he left for France in 1886 that he decided to focus more on himself, thus transforming his style into what we recognize more easily today. There seems to be a misconception that he had always painted with vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly saturated colors for a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean François Millet to paint rural scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more that 40 portrait studies of peasants, including The Potato Peeler (Department of European Paintings). These studies would then lead to his piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because he intended to relay to the viewers a feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh was more focused on life around him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. Although the use of light and shadow may be exaggerated to some extent, the color stays accurate to what humans do look like. A few more minor pieces were painted after in the same style as The Potato Peeler; but after his move to France, his style changes to the more vibrant and impressionist style we know today. This historical event was called Brexit (abbreviation for British Exit), and the news has shaken the world, brought anxiety about the future of the United Kingdom. It will particularly influence international trade, due to the point that one of the most significant role of EU is encouraging free trade among its members. Also, trade contracts signed between EU and non EU nations applied to all EU members, and UK has been largely benefited by them. The proportion of trade with EU are enormous: ranging from 38 percent to 49 percent for import, and 49 percent to 55 percent for export in 2015, respectively (HM Revenue and Customs, 2016). However, since UK will no longer be a member of the EU, she has to renegotiate with EU and also other nations. It is fairly possible that the UK will not be able to sustain its strong position in international society once it loses advantages of belonging to EU. Currently, evolutionary naturalism is the most widely taught view of origins in America. In schools in the modern day, only evolutionism is taught and condoned. But before the 1920s, only creationism was taught, and evolution was forbidden. Then, on February 20, 2008, the Florida State Board of Education voted to revise the public school guidelines to require teachers to teach only Evolutionism. On the other hand, Creationism has equally as many holes that can be filled by the Evolutionary Theory such as how all the species of the earth became what they are now. In the eleventh century, Foot Binding seemed to be a mandatory procedure for Chinese Women. It was an excruciating process that women would go through to please their husbands. Footbinding became popular as a means of a flaunting status because women from wealthy families who did not need them to work could afford to have their feet bound The practice became so established that a womanwho did not have bound feet would have difficulty finding a husband, for most families they demanded a woman with tiny feet when selecting a wife for their son. The woman who refused to bind her feet was known to become an outcast and even punished to death. There are a thousand buckets of tears for one who binds her feet and 5,000 more for the one who unbinds. ( ) Many young girls did it because it was a mark of beauty and Chinese women with the smallest feet were given the best chance of living a luxurious life style. Introduction The acronym of BRICS refers to a group of five emerging economies Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa which represent nearly 30% of the earth s surface and 40% of world s population . BRIC acronym was initially introduced by Chief Economist of Goldman Sachs in his report Building Better Global Economic BRICs (2001). In 2010 South Africa was added to this group of countries because of its increasing economy. Goldman Sachs in its long term outlook in 2009 forecasted that BRICs economy will become as big as the G7 countries by 2032 and China s economy will become as big as the US economy by 2027. One of the main reasons why BRICS gained important role in global economy was not only the population and geographical features, but also the growth rate and increasing share in the international trade. The BRICS share in world trade has increased from 3.6% in 1990 to 15% in 2010 and share in world GDP increased from 16% in 2000 to 25% in 2010. It is evidenced that export is the main driver of economic growth in BRICS countries as they implemented export oriented growth strategies. Brazil is very rich in coffee, soybean, sugar, and crude oil. Major share in Russia s export is natural resources: gas, oil and natural minerals. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government. Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs. Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the changes that were made to society. The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct from an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the weather, the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War. American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On its way from Paris the train was in an accident, I wasn t harmed, but I was left waiting out the 12 hour delay on the platform. It was cold and snowy waiting on the platform in my pajamas. Once I got to Holland within days of the accident I developed double lung pneumonia. • 44. Pros And Cons Of Enhancing Competitive Markets Increasing Competition There is no such thing as free markets . That is why I call them competitive markets . All real markets are political institutions in which some form of market masters, usually government, regulate economic competition among different groups within a society. On August 31st 1910 Republican Theodore Roosevelt delivered a fiery speech in Kansas. The former president celebrated the extraordinary new commercial power but also gave warning that America s industrial economy had been taken over by a handful of corporate giants that were generating an unparalleled wealth for a small number of people are exercising a growing control over America s politics. Roosevelt cautioned that the county founded on the principle of equal opportunity was in danger of becoming a land of corporate privilege, and pledged to do whatever he could to bring the new giants under control. Local and National governments need to reduce or maintain low barriers to the formation of new businesses thereby encouraging entrepreneurship. The government can also play a key role in entrepreneurship by improving the environment for entry and operations. Scott Russell Sanders Under The Influence Summary Scott Russell Sanders wrote Under the Influence, a memoir depicting his alcoholic father whose many drunk dysfunctional states affected his life. Whose haunting demons from his death leaves Sanders with a guilt that, ...burns like acid in my veins, (252) in certain moods. Like Sanders, I was left feeling anxious and guilty after the knowledge of Daniel s, my older brother, diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes in 2011. At the age of 13, he was admitted into the hospital hooked up to various machines and their wires poking at him in different places on his body. As a younger sister, the anxiety I had about his health made me more concerned, leaving him to feel like a burden. I did not understand how awful this diagnosis was and what we had to change, as a family, for the good of his life. Daniel stayed in the hospital for four days and was completely out of it; having no sense of his surroundings. In Under the Influence, Sanders father becomes ragged and melancholy and a different person because of his dependence on alcohol, ... our father was clearly in the wrong mind, (247). • 46. Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table they were in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and mendeleev periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new paradigm, with all of the elements positioned within a logical matrix.. Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after organising the cards while playing patience he suddenly realised that by arranging the element cards in order of increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or periods . But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the elements which belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out the atomic mass of the missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were discovered, Mendeleev turned out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an undiscovered element that should fit below aluminium in his table. When this element, called gallium, was discovered in 1875, its properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions. Two other predicted elements were later discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
