WorkstationsA workstation is a powerful computer which is used by users that work with
advanced applications. It s mainly used by IT workers with high level occupations. The advantage
of having a workstation is that you can use it as a storage device, restore you documents from it
and keep it as a database to record figures. Workstations are mostly used by IT users which carry
out complex IT tasks. ` Workstations are used for engineering programs as they have high quality
graphics. RouterIt is a device that shares the network connection with multiple computers. It has the
capability of connecting to other devices such as: game consoles, smart TVs etc. The advantage of
having an router that you can connect more than one device to the network. All the devices on the
network can directly communicate to each other. Routers are used a network point of connecting
workstations together. It allows operations to be carried on the network through the router access.
SwitchSwitches in computer networks help to send and receive data around. They help the data
flow between workstations by connecting multiple workstations on the hub. The benefit of having
switches on the network is that they prevent data from over flowing. this is because they manage
the data speed between the switches. Switches are mainly used on the network by workstations. It
allows data to flow with ease. Connections can be made quicker with having various switches on
the network. Hub A hub is a connection

The Effect Of Weight Lifting And Its Effects On Basketball...
Weight Lifting and Its Effects on Basketball Players
Ten people gather around a center point waiting as two giants square off between one another,
clashing for the most valuable prize of the battle ahead: the basketball. A game of strategy and high
demands, basketball calls on both the body and the mind in harmony in order to secure a victory. It
calls on your body in many ways that will strip you of energy unlike any other sport. Additionally,
the game will demand a high intelligence and acumen from the mind when making split second
decisions. Lifting weights can positively impact your body, physically and mentally; furthermore,
this training can then be applied onto the basketball court to help increase the physical and mental
attributes of a player. Being well equipped physically for basketball provides many advantages
when you apply it correctly. Basketball is a unique sport that contains non stop movement in
every moment. The objective is simple: score more points than the other team. This is
accomplished by a constant burst of speed, agility, and quickness that combines for fluid
motions up and down the court. If a player is not trained properly, this consistent activity can be
extremely strenuous to their body. Plus, in a game of basketball the gameplay is live until the
ball goes out of bounds, there is a foul, timeout called, or the end of a quarter. While this may
seem like quite a few factors to allow a dead ball and some rest time, they do not occur as much

My Critical Evaluation Of Various Components
The reflective essay will pertain to chapter 8 and my critical evaluation of various components in
this chapter. Attention is different for everyone, so ideally we all have things we play closer
attention too. When I m out and I see people who wear pink or have sparkles I tend to pay more
attention that area. I also get distracted very easily so if I am out and about and there is
commotion going on I ll stop to see what all the fuss is about. My own selective attentiondeals with
movements, sparkly and pink objects. If any of those apply my retina will process that for me.
What types of things do you pay close attention too? Selective attention makes me think of being
at a party or some type of gathering where you don t really know anyone. I usually make
saccades of the environment. If I see someone I know or looks familiar I will remain fixated for a
couple seconds than look away. At that moment I try and process how I recognize them. When I
first saw the term dichotic listening this is what came to mind. Whisper down the alley is what
popped up in my brain. I learned this game in elementary school where one person whispers a
message into your and you pass it on to the next person. Sometimes there were two messages that
were started in both directions, than passed to each individual participating. Whiter it is one
message or two the whole point was to see if the message in the end matched the original message.
In most cases it did not, do too how we hear the message is

With new concerns over artificial sweeteners, consumers are opting for more water. While more
water is the current trend, because of media attacks on the bottle water industry, more people are
beginning to second guess if it matter at all. A National Geographic, is a magazine of the National
Geographic Society, wrote an article on the negative impact of consumers consuming too much
bottled water in an article (Karlstrom and Dell Amore 2010). The article addressed issues such as,
the impact transporting water has on our environment due to fossil fuel use. Also, because some
water is pumped from underground, it impacts the natural water sources more than tap water. This
article also addressed more bottled water was sold for drinking than milk, coffee, and juice. Cities
such as San Francisco stopped purchasing bottle for city consumption, according to the article. This
was confirmed by www. msnbc.com.
Mayo Clinic states on their website www.mayoclinic.org, bottled water or tap water, it is a
personal preference. Both are tested regularly to ensure it meets safety guidelines. The Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) regulate the standards for bottled water. The Environmental Protection

to boil water before drinking or switching to bottled water. In 1995, Federal Drug Administration

Hudson Taylor
Student Review
I have seen that living in luxury is pointless and not only that but it can effect the way one lives
for God. When you live with just the necessities, you show yourself that there is more to
entertainment and comfort in life, that seeking material wealth all the time, Is a waste of time and
the precious gift of life which God has bestowed upon us to live for His glory and not our own.
Gods will is indeed inedible. Nothing we can do will prevent what He has in store for us in this
life and the next. When we do follow Gods will and obey Him, much joy and peace will pursue
those who follow Christ. Blessings abound in the righteous living of the one who obeys and hears
God.

Hudson was faithful to God. His actions are a true model of the missionary of today and tomorrow.
Hudson s faith could be a lesson for us all,
quot; The assurance was brought vividly to me that what ever I asked of God in the name of
Christ would be done; that the father maybe glorified in the son, that what I had to do was seek
strength for the long walk, to receive it by faith and set out upon it. Unhesitatingly I told the Lord
I was quite willing to take the walk if He would give me the strength. quot; (Pg. 42)
Hudson lived for God and not himself, as seen in chapter three,
quot; I soon found that I could live upon very much less than I had previously thought possible.
Butter, Milk and other such luxuries I soon ceased to use; and I found that living mainly on
oatmeal and rice, with occasional variations, a very small sum was sufficient for my needs. In
this way I had more than two thirds of my income available for other purposes; and my
experience was that the less I spent on my self, and the more I gave away, the fuller of happiness
and blessings did my soul become. quot;
(Pg. 21)
#9;The spiritual account of Hudson is one to be reckoned in that, He is an example and role
model for missionaries today. Likewise from reading the account of Hudson Taylor, I realize that
life is to important to waste on the luxuries of life, living for self and not for Christ, but true
blessings and wisdom come for those who follow Christ and obey,

The Life and Works of Bertolt Brecht Essay
The Life and Works of Bertolt Brecht
In this essay I will consider the life and works of Bertolt Brecht, the famous theatre practitioner
who has had such a dramatic impact on our understanding of the theatre and acting. First of all I
will give a biography of Brecht because it is important to know the background of his life in order
to understand the motives he had for writing and producing plays in the way he did. We will see a
direct correlation between events in his life and the plays and techniques that he propagated. I will
then move to explore the methods and techniques that Brecht developed, looking at how they came
about and who influenced his work. I will look at Brecht s theory of Epic theatre, tracing the
beginnings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was studying medicine but his real interests were in drama and the theatre. During the war he
was posted as a nurse in an army hospital near his home thereby escaping the horrors of the front
line. He was dealing with severely wounded soldiers and this shocked him to the realities of death
and made him see the futility of war, something that rallied him to fight for peace through his
political plays. After the war Brecht went to Munich to find work in the theatre and then on to
Berlin, where he stayed. He quickly got to know the main actors and directors of the time and soon
became involved in directing and performing. He gathered a group of friends who worked with
him and on his behalf, thus began his habit of collaborating with others.
In the 1920 s Brecht married Helene Weigel who remained his wife for the rest of his life. He also
wrote these three plays: Drums in the
Night, In The Jungle of the Cities and Baal. Each of these plays was directed by leading directors
at the time and they attracted al lot of scandal because of the provoking content and new style. He
also undertook his first collaboration with the composer Kurt Weill in
Mahogonny and then The Threepenny Opera, which was immensely popular and firmly established
him as a leading playwright and theatre practitioner. He started to develop his

Demographic Transition Of Pre Industrial
demographic transition theory is a widespread explanation of the changing mold of humanity,
fertility and increase rates as civilizations move from one demographic system to another. The term
was first coined by the American demographer Frank W. Notestein in the mid twentieth century, but
it has since been elaborated and expanded upon by many others (The Demographic Transition,
2012). There are four stages of demographic transition.
The first stage of the demographic transition is called pre industrial. In this stage, the population is
stable. The birth and death rates are both high. The death rates are at a high due to the increase of
disease, poor medical and personal hygiene care along with the limited supplies of food. With the
death rates being high, people are having more babies to help with mortality rates being so high.
With the birth and death rates being equal, the population growth stays at a zero.
The second stage of the demographic transition theory is called the transitional stage. In this state
the population starts to increase. This happens because the birth rates are high and the death rates
are starting to decline. The second stage is when the development of modern medicine and food
distribution is started to take hold and the death rate starts to diminish. (Saucedo, 2011)
The reason the death rates are starting to decline is due to the reason that the country is
transitioning into an industrial county. This means that there are improvements in the

Private School Vouchers
I agree with Mark that vouchers divert public money to unaccountable private institutions, such as
charter schools. Most private schools also have the ability to deny admission and still be able to
accept the taxpayer money. Private schools also have the ability to cherry pick students, unlike
public schools. As we discussed in recitations, private schools are more likely to choose students in
a dual parent household because they believe that those parents are more likely to be involved in
schoolactivities. I believe that public taxpayer money should only provide support for public
schools that are accountable and open for all people. Another reason why I dislike the voucher
system is that vouchers do not actually improve opportunities for

Innate and Adaptive Immune Responses on First and...
The immune system is comprised of two responses: the adaptive immune response and the innate
immune response. The first line of defence against invading organisms is classified as the innate
immune response and the second line of defence and protection against re exposure to the same
pathogen is known as the adaptive immune response. Innate immune responses are known as the
non specific manner which composes the cells and defend the host from infection by other
organism by mechanism. The adaptive immunity represents the antigen specific immune response.
Compare to innate immune response, adaptive response is more complex. In adaptive response the
antigen needs to be recognised and processed. The adaptive immune system creates immune... Show

If a pathogen breaches barriers: innate immune response result into an immediate effect of non
specific response. All Innate immune systems derived from plants and animals, when a pathogen
evades the innate response, a third layer of protection is possessed by vertebrates in which
activation of adaptive immune system takes place. The immune system response adopts itself
within an infection and pathogen recognition is improved. As a result of the improved response, its
then retains itself when the pathogen is eliminated in form of an immunological memory and
allows the adaptive immune system to mount faster and stronger when pathogen is encountered
each time. To be able to distinguish among self and non self molecules, both immune and adaptive
immunity depends on the ability of the immune system. Self molecules are known as the
components in which the body disguise itself from foreign substances by immune system. Non self
discrimination molecules are known as the foreign molecules. One of its function is the antigen,
this substance bind with specific immune receptors and immune response elicit. When the pathogen
replicates different components of immune system evolves to protect against various types of
pathogens. However infection of an organism does not necessarily shows diseases, disease are only
present when the bolus of infection, in terms of when immunity is comprised. All components of

William Shakespeare s King Lear Essay
Shakespeare s King Lear is regarded to be one of his most successful piece of literature,
published in the 17th century, in which he depicts a dramatic adaptation of relationships
between parents and their children. Preceding the twentieth century, several critics have deemed
King Lear as a classic tragedy and therefore labelling the character of Lear as a tragic hero . This
is because much like the ancient Greek legend of Oedipus, Lear s sense of pride is what
consequently leads to his demise from the very beginning, where Lear is arguably at the
pinnacle of his power. Therefore, upon the traditional reading of King Lear, Lear s human
qualities shown following his downfall as king would prove this character suitable for the title
as a tragic hero; where a lesson can be learned, thus allowing an Elizabethan audience to feel a
sense of moral justice at the end of the play (however, the existence of the sub plot involving
Edmund and Gloucester alongside that of Lear s tragedy and his daughters implies a lack of
distinction from Lear s character to other true tragic heroes). In light of this, it could change our
overall interpretation of the play itself to be Shakespeare s personal comments on the Human
Condition to his advantage, removes any suspicion that he may be making a direct comment on the
death of an ageing monarchy and rise of a usurper towards the Catholic James 6th of Scotland by
intentionally setting the play in a pre Christian Albion world. Alternatively,

The During The Gilded Age America Experienced The Second...
During the Gilded Age America experienced the Second Industrial Revolution . Between the end
of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States underwent one of the most
rapid and profound economic revolutions any country has ever experienced. There were
numerous causes for this explosive economic growth. The country enjoyed abundant natural
resources, a growing supply of labor, an expanding market for manufactured goods, and the
availability of capital for investment. The uprising of big businesses, railroads, and factory
transformed America from being based on small farm work into an industrial powerhouse.
During the Second Industrial Revolution the role of big business in federal and state
governments was a monumental turning point in the history of this country, setting a foundation
which has come to play a big role in government policy today. In a time period where the
American Government did not have a real system in place for becoming an elected official, a
great portion of the government was corrupted by people put in place by owners of big
businesses and in turn they agreed to pass laws or do other favors for their benefit. Moguls such as
John D. Rockefeller, and Andrew Carnegie played major roles big business. The rapid expansion of
factory production, mining, and railroad construction in all parts of the country except the South
signaled the transition from Lincoln s America a world centered on the small farm and artisan
workshop to a

Hawaii s High Cost Of Living
Over the last four weeks, we have learned about Hawaii s Economic Outlook. We look a look at
the growths and decline of Hawaii s economy through looking at the Hawaii s GDP and comparing
it the whole nations GDP. The next week we learned about Hawaii s expansion and contraction.
During this week, we focused on different factors that caused Hawaiis economic ups and downs
thought Hawaii s history. The third week we, learned about Hawaii s economical structure, which
focused on diversification in Hawaii s economy. The fourth week we talked about price, inflation
and costsof living in Hawaii. During this week we learned about different factors that causes
Hawaii s high cost of living. For this major report, I wanted to explore more in death about
Hawaii s high cost of living. The reason why I wanted to explore this topic more into detail is
because I ve living in Hawaii my whole life, but never really understood why our cost of living is
so high. Also, I wanted to learn more about this topic because it is very important to understand the
different factors that causes the high cost of living. By understanding the different factors that
causes Hawaii s high cost of living, it could possibly help us in the future to help find solutions to
this growing problem or even help you reduce some of these costs.

John Bowlby s Work Of Attachment
John Bowlby s work in attachment has been one of the foundational works when determining the
level of attachments and bonds that a child and parent may experience (Webb, 2011). According
to Bowlby, attachment is referring to a lasting, mutual bond of affection that is dependent on an
individual or more than one person (Webb, 2011). Establishing a secure attachment during
infancy and early childhood is an important task of a parent or a caregiver. Not all parents or
caregivers can provide their child or children with a secure attachment at this important in life due
to various reasons. Since parents are the main providers in their child s development of attachment,
their lives and history have a great influence on their children s lives. One psychosocial factor is the
family s socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic statuses have been researched to be one of the most
influential factors in rather or not a family will succeed or face challenges, it can be a determinant
in the development of mental health, physical health, and emotional health. A parent s educational
level, their occupation, and income could place the family in either a beneficial or hindering
situation, in return, affecting the way a parent could establish attachment with their child. For
example, a single parent raising their child and having to manage two jobs, could result in limited
attachment to their parent or primary caregiver. Parental stress and their possible experiences of
adverse childhood

Separation of Powers in the Commowealth
This doctrine was formulated by French philosopher Montesquieu who theorized that abuse of
powers by the three branches would be checked through separating the branches functionally and
physically. This means no branch should perform function of the other and no person can hold
office simultaneously in the branches.
However, there are instances where state courts have influences from the decisions of cases in the
Commonwealth courts. In the ruling made in the case Kable v Director of public prosecution1996
189 CLR51.This case forbid states court exceeding federal jurisdiction. Therefore, State Supreme
courts rely on decisions of federal courts and vice versa (Harris, 2013).
In the separation of powers there is the doctrine that courts cannot be vested with non judicial
power and federal judicial powers cannot be vested in a state court. It goes that if a court
exercises non judicial power, then separation of powers will be violated. The states do not have
explicit separation of powers in their respective constitutions. Parliament is able to vest judicial
federal powers with non judicial powers so long as they do not undermine their integrity. States
courts can still exercise their independence since they have some discretion in some matters.
Looking at the separation of powers in States such as Queensland, there are unique features.
Commonwealth Constitution confers separation of powers but States do not have constitutional
separation of powers. Influence of executive on

very different, yet similar, people. Jefferson grew up in Virginia to a well respected family, while
Hamilton was born in the Caribbean Island of St. Croix, but moved to America when he at age
thirteen to get a better education. They were both prodigies in writing, Hamilton wrote about a
hurricane around eleven, amazing many people, and Jefferson was able to write eloquence with
his pen, all throughout his life. Jefferson was born into a powerful family, owned slaves, and

For the betterment of the country. Besides the debate who government shall be run by, they also
had different opinions on what type of laws should be set in place, loose or strict construction.
Loose construction allows the government to stretch or change the constitution, as long as it
benefits the common good of the people. While strict construction, makes the government follow
the exact laws set in place by the constitution. Hamilton had the better vision with the idea of loose
construction because the government changes throughout time, the needs of the people changes, so
the constitution would be have to be amended and stretched to fit those needs. Another debate
between Jefferson and Hamilton was whether or not the Bill of Rights was needed before the
government was formed. While Hamilton said that the Bill of Rights was unnecessary to have
before the government was formed, Jefferson had the better opinion. The Bill of Rights gave the
people and states rights, before a government is formed the people in the country and the
government should know what rights the states and citizens have, so there will be no law that
contrasts to the rights of the people. The United States economy was another extensive topic that
Jefferson and Hamilton disagreed on, both had very strong arguments. Jefferson, being a farmer
himself, that the economy was ran off of agriculture, specifically from the South. Hamilton thought
that

Financial institutions are looking for transactional security, airports for highly reliable verification
systems and corporations for data protection. The solution to all of these problems is embedded in
technology; a technology involving biometrics and Information Systems. Looking in depth at
biometrics and information systems, we will discuss the different forms used to counter long
waiting periods and security deceptions. The question that would be answered will be how those
measures will prevent fraud and make identification and banking transaction more secure. Finally,
we will provide recommendations about which biometric measure best suits the banking industry
and how it can improve the current system in place. MOBILE PAYMENTS One new technology

Honfleur Impressionism
Art has been a part of history before Christ was born and along the flow of time different styles and
movements revolutionized what art means to the creator and audience. On the flow of time one of
the branches that stood out in style, color, and expression through repetition was Impressionism. An
artist that helped revolutionize Impressionismin his time was Oscar Claude Monet, but the piece that
stood out was the Mouth of the Seine at Honfleur.
The Mouth of the Seine at Honfleur is an oil on canvas Impressionist artwork that was created in
1865 by Oscar Claude Monet. Even though the artwork was not painted on site due to the salty

The film Little Miss Sunshine, Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Farris, explores the lives
of a regular American family and how they change their lives in front of us in the Combie van on
the road to the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. The film examines the issues of winning and
losing, and what it means to be a winner, throughout many sequences in the film as well as
exploring the value of family. The directors and the cinematic team use an extreme range of camera

When all the competitors are introduced on stage we see Olive is far out of place just through
her basic average costuming, compared to the other girls who are dressed like little Barbie
dolls, with glittery clothes and excessive make up. Even though Olive is out of place and
obviously doesn t belong in the competition, she still reflects Grandpa s view on classifying
winners and losers which was introduced before he died. Grandpa believes that a real loser is
someone who is so afraid of not winning they don t even try. Through the costuming and Olives
actions the directors implant that view of winning and losing into the audience, which then
reflects on our world today, as we need to show more support, not for the winners of a
competition, but the courage people have developed to enter a competition. The Final key
technique which is employed by the cinematic team of Little Miss Sunshine is the use of sound.
Throughout the film there is an evident mixture of diegetic and non diegetic sounds. In the scene
were Frank and Dwayne are out on the pier, starts with a non diegetic voice over from the Little

diegetic sounds of nature at the beach take over and remind us of nature s healing presence as we

Synapse Specificity Analysis
Memory formation occurs through LTP. This is due to the fact that LTP is synapse specific.
Synapse specificity is the process of when a synapse is stimulated, only that synapse is affected;
neighboring synapses that lie close by remain unaffected.1 Extending into this topic, CaMKII, an
enzyme, was found to play a major role in synapse specificity. The increase of intracellular
calcium from the unblocking of the NMDA type glutamate receptors resulting in the activation of
CaMKII triggers LTP. The broad question that is then addressed in Lee et al s article, Activation of
CaMKII in Single Dendritic Spines during Long Term Potentiation is what makes up the foundation
of synapse specificity of LTP and how does CaMKII affect synapse specificity? To answer the
questions previously asked, Lee et al conducted an experiment using several methods, which include
fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), two photon microscopy, photostimulation, and...

The effect of CaMKII on synapse specificity is controlled by two factors: the rate of CaMKII s
inactivation and its mobility. Starting with the rate of inactivation of CaMKII, the fluorescence
lifetime of the GFP, in other words, the activation of CaMKII, lasted only two minutes. This
went along with the observation calcium levels fall back to initial concentrations within
milliseconds. This does not allow calcium to diffuse into neighboring spines and activate
CaMKII due to the short time limit. Because of the fast rate of inactivation of CaMKII, CaMKII
is forced to stick to one dendritic spine. Hence why, the activation of CaMKII follows synaptic
specificity. The second factor is mobility of the activation of CaMKII. Using fluorescence decay,
it was concluded that CaMKII had really slow mobility of diffusion out of a dendritic spine.
Because CaMKII can t diffuse out of the spine fast enough, this also confines the activation of
CaMKII to one

The birthing ceremonies of the Indian culture has a lot of different aspects then the American
culture does. I guess that is why they are different cultures. All cultures have different views on
different things such as religion, but they also share the same as well for example every culture has
some form of the family. This is what helps most cultures understand other cultures. In the Indian
culture their view of bringing a child into the world is much different then the American culture s
view.

the Earth must not have it abused by burying it in the ground.
During the pregnancy, seeing how the mother has no time to relax, they take these steam baths.
In an adobe hut there is a stove, called a temascal , which is were the placenta can be burned
also, which produces steam that is supposed to calm the women down. This stove is made of
stone. The stones are heated up and then the door is shut and then cold water is poured on the
rocks and this makes steam. This is said to prevent the mother from having a miscarriage. A lot
of times they add Herb s and leaves to the bath which helps them relax as well as supply them
with nutrients. The mother usually takes this after work so that she can sleep and get up and do it
all over again tomorrow. The purity of the child is protected after birth for eight days.
The newborn baby is alone with its mother for these eight days. None of the other children can see
the child for this time frame. The mothers only visitors are the people who bring her food. This
time frame is the baby integration into the family.
When the child is born they kill a sheep and there is a little fiesta just for the family. The neighbors

Heat Movie Analysis
Don t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if
you feel the heat around the corner. Robert De Niro s famous line playing the criminal Niel
McCauley sets the tone for Michel Mann s Heat. Mann is able to have high octane action one
would expect from a crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The
combination of the two is what makes the film a crime drama (even though Michael Mann argues
that it doesn t belong to a genre). That intimacy is what makes Heatmemorable. Mann creates the
intimacy in a number of ways: through types of shots such as close ups and zoom ins, the score
and the soundtrack, his use of lighting, camera angles, filming locations and use of shadows
among others. The utilization of close ups and zoom ins allows the audience to get to know the
characters. It shows the wear and tear on the characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we re
able to feel how tired the characters are from their deep sighs and the dark circles under their eyes.
Michael Mann wants the audience to become as close to the characters as possible. We are
introduced to Al Pacinoduring a sex scene, that s about as intimate as the character to audience
relationship can get. The intimacy is at an all time high during the coffee shop scene in which the
previously mentioned quote is taken from. Roger Ebert (1995) stated, The scene concentrates on
the truth of Heat , which is that these cops and robbers need

How Has Feminism Influenced Music
Has feminism influenced music in the last 30 years? Introduction Feminism and music have long
been combined throughout the 1900 s. However, in my essay I will be attempting to answer the
question of has feminism influenced music, particularly in the last 30 years. The near infinite
variation of feminism expressed in a range of different types of music genres has led to many
interesting and empowering assortments of music being established. One such genre is punk
music, which is the most popular genre to be combined with feminism, to create hard hitting and
powerful bands, which were most commonly formed, in particular, in the 1970s and 1990s. I will
be investigating in this essay, in particular, questions such as what has been the most significant
impact of feminism and music, and how this began to get popular, to help me answer the ultimate
question of has feminism influenced music in the last 30 years? , and I will be exploring both
sides of the argument and explaining both arguments for and against in detail. Has feminism
influenced music? One argument that suggests feminism hasn t influenced music in the past 30
years is that recent artists are still protesting against gender inequality. For example, BeyoncГ©
wrote an essay called gender quality is a myth! in 2011. Which included statistics that proved that
modern society is in fact dominated by men. The source I used is an online... Show more content on

this really how feminism in music started to get popular? Furthermore, I will also be investigating
when feminism started being incorporated into music, to help me answer the sub question: When

Human Overpopulation Essay
Human overpopulation occurs when the ecological footprint of a human population in a specific
location exceeds the carrying capacity of the place occupied by that group. Overpopulation can
further be viewed, in a long term perspective, as existing when a population cannot be maintained
given the rapid depletion of nonrenewable resources or given the degradation of the of the
environment to give support to the population. Overpopulationis a problem that needs to be solved.
Concern about overpopulation has existed for hundreds of years.Tertullian was a resident of the
city of Carthage in the second century CE, when the population of the world was about 190
million. He said: What most frequently meets our view (and occasions complaint) is our teeming
population. Our numbers are burdensome to the world, which can hardly support us.... In very
deed, pestilence, and famine, and wars, and earthquakes have to be regarded as a remedy for
nations, as the means of pruning the luxuriance of the human race. Before that, Plato, Aristotle and
others had concern for the topic as well. Laws existing to prevent the rapid growth of the
population have been around for hundreds of years. However in the modern world, China is one of
the countries with laws regulating birth rates. They have two child per household limit to combat
the rapid growth of the dense population. India has one of the densest populations in the world and
in order to combat the growing number of people, the government

Odd Girl Out
On average 77 percent of students are bullied mentally, verbally, and physically in the United
States. Odd Girl Out by Rachel Simmons brings to light the hidden culture of aggression in girls.
Throughout the novel, Rachel goes over every aspect of female bullying. She includes first person
accounts with high schooland middle school students and some of the pressures from classmates,
friends, parents and teachers, and themselves. Every novel has its strengths and weaknesses. In
Odd Girl Out, Rachel Simmons does a nice job bringing to light a subject that is not explored very
often, however there is still so much we don t know and it is very hard to stop this activity from
happening.
Elaborating deeper on the strengths of this novel in general, this novel again explores teenage
aggression in girls that is often justified as a stage that will eventually pass. This is part of the
reason this is such a big issue. Other strengths include helping get answers for the hun dreds of
people across the nation for why bad things like bullying happened to them in middle school and
high school. Several times during the course of the book there are ways mentioned to ... Show more

There are several weaknesses that were presented during the entirety of the novel. The first thing
that comes to mind is that there is still so much that is unknown about the subject. This makes
the behavior hard to stop even though it is present in everyday life for many people. In my
opinion, deeper research needs to be done to fully comprehend what is needed in this case. As a
high school student myself, there are actions in the novel that I did not know be forehand. If this
information gets into the wrong hands, it could potentially initiate aggressive behavior. It could
teach girls new ways to hurt someone which is not the goal of the book, but it is still a possibility
that is sad and hard to think

Rising Water Levels Threatening The Maldives Islands
Rising Water Levels Threatening the Maldives Islands
The global warming is a phenomenon happening all over the earth, there are several causes, but
most are a result of human activity. The graph in image 1 shows that a significant increase in the
climate temperature in the mid 20th century, somewhere between 1900 and 1950. The industrial
revolution happened between the years 1820 and 1840, although great improvements in technology
were achieved in the 1900 s. The increasing temperatures since the industrial revolution work as a
proof that global warming is a direct effect of human activity. As image 1 shows before the 20th
century the variations in the earth s climate were minimal, except for that of the ice age. Although
the industrial revolution detonated the rising temperature due to the use of new chemicals, this
change is not evident until it surpasses the previously registered temperatures in the mid 1900 s.
Science and technology have improved in the last 200 years, most devices used to measure changes
in temperatures were just developed about 150 years ago, so there is not much information of the
temperatures before that (Vallis). Nevertheless, scientists have been able to estimate the earth s
temperature from millions of years ago by studding trees, fossils, sediments and water temperatures.
Recent studies have proved how many man made chemicals and activities have contributed to the
climate change, affecting the natural processes in the earth like the

The fascination and interest in text can be kept up with daily reading sessions. This will spark
their interest in decoding words. The teaching assistant will help with these skills including
reminding the child or their alphabet and phonic sounds to assist with decoding. Modelling is a
key supporting method for learning literacy both with speaking and writing words. In reading to
children, the teaching assistant will be showing them how to read fluently and how their voice can
help make sense of the text being read. Hearing modelled reading can lead to an increased interest
in reading, an improvement in vocabulary and more knowledge of the world around them. It is

where the children are divided into their appropriate reading abilities. During the week, each group
will rotate with the teacher ensuring that the teacher is able to help improve their fluency and
investigation through reading instruction at their own reading levels. In turn, the teaching assistant
will give reading instruction to a separate group who will be working towards questioning the text
they are reading through comprehension. During these sessions, there will be emphasis on
speaking and listening together, and reading and writing together. These sessions also allow
additional groups to work independently, reading at their own specific level. The roles of the

teacher’s planning. There are other strategies that assist in this area including repetition and

Key Ratios Such As Profitability, Liquidity, Debt...
Objective 5:
In this we are going to analyze important key ratios such as profitability, liquidity, debt management,
asset management.
Profitability:
Source: Morning Star Investment Research center.
From the tabular column we could see that tax rate has been growing each year starting from
2005. In 2014 tax rate reached 34.55%. Normally if tax rate increases, the net margin tends to
decrease. But in the case of American express (NYSE:AXP) the net margin has been increasing
each year starting from 2005 to 2014. In 2014 it reached 17.16%. This implies either the revenue
has been increasing or company is decreasing its operating expenses. We could also see increase
on return on assets. In 2014 it reached 3.77%. So we can infer that each year the return on assets is
increasing which is a good sign. Financial leverage means the company used debt in the process to
acquire new assets. As this has been on a decreasing note i.e. in 2014 it is 7.7, this means the
company s liability is decreasing. Investors usually prefer a company that has minimal debts. Now
we consider return on equity, each year return on equity is increasing. Investors would be happy
because there investment is getting appreciated. Based on profitability ratios, stock has a tendency
to do well in the future.
Liquidity:

Examples Of Disillusionment In The Hollow Men
Inspired by a combination of nationalistic fervor and glorified expectations of a short war,
thousands of soldiers from multiple countries enlisted to fight in the devastating conflict known as
World War I. These men were quickly met with disillusionment when they discovered the truly
nightmarish conditions of this war characterized by attrition. Much of the war took place in
trenches where soldiers fought in filth and watched helplessly as comrades were massacred by
bombshells, machine guns, and mustard gas. As it drew to a close, the survivors were left in the
rubble to contend with the unearthly conditions they had experienced and the unspeakable acts they
had committed during the war. Struggling to process the unfathomable destruction and... Show more

Apparently, Eliot s metaphorical language portrays the dread of the veterans anticipating the
omniscient judgmental eyes of either god or those of the people they killed in the afterlife since
they feel unable to atone for their sins. As a result of this fear of damnation, the veteran prays, in
an ironically similar fashion to the Lord s prayer, to be no nearer to death s dream kingdom and
to wear the disguise of a Rat s coat, crow skin, [and] crossed staves (31 35). Here, Eliot implies
that the veteran s faith is dwindling, as the veteran knows that if there is a God, he will likely be
punished for his actions; therefore, he feels he must abandon his beliefs to escape imminent hell.
As for the disguise, the veteran wishes to mask any semblance of being a soldier and rather
appear as an innocent civilian wielding crossed staves, or rather an outward display of Christianity
as represented the symbol of the crucifix, despite the veteran s own recession from faith

The Problem Of Community College Students
I, like many new LaGuardia students, would walk around campus with my head down in
disappointment with myself. Every time somebody asked where I went to school I would cringe
and respond softly LaGuardia Community College and would get a response like oh that s good
as if to spare my feelings. Unfortunately, LaGuardia like many other community colleges
nationwide have a negative connotation associated with them because they are the institutions that
accept those students that did not make it to other private or public universities. Or those students
that were hit the hardest with life. It would be wrong to not point out the socioeconomic
disparity of those who attend schools like LaGuardia where 61.8% of students who live with
their families have a family income of under $25,000 a year. I fall under this demographic and am
also an underrepresented minority as a Latino of Colombian background. This is the story of how I
let my curiosity lead me to success and how I let go of the misconception that community college
students were unable to achieve.
When I enrolled in LaGuardia I was 2 years removed from high school and had no clear academic
direction. I signed up for one of the first semester cluster courses that were centered around a topic
that I found genuinely interesting called Globalization: You and The World. That was my first
great decision because I was met with an abundance of great professors and peers. The cluster

Tsarina Alexandra Romanokov s Failure Of Russia
Tsarina Alexandra Romanov is accused of having a serious helping hand in the ultimate demise of
Russia and eventual revolution that occurred. While many of the Tsarina s actions did contribute to
the eventual failures in Russia, Tsarina Alexandra was dealing with much more than just the
political nature of Russiaduring the time of World War I. The Tsarina found herself struggling
with finding a balance between the Russian distrust due to her lineage, her struggle to produce
an heir, and finding her place with Tsar Nicholas II away at the front. In a time when the
Romanov family was the center of distrust, the German princess found herself conflicted
between her strong religious beliefs, Russian patriotism, and her desire to protect Russian
aristocracy in order to provide her son a future as Tsar. With all these conflicting allegiances in
her life, Tsarina Alexandra found herself trying to establish her role as a leader of the Russian
people, a mother, and a wife while also trying to balance her duty as a Tsarina in the scope of
family and war. Tsarina Alexandra Romonov was born in Darmstadt, Germany as Alix of Hesse
and by Rhine to the second daughter of Queen Victoria. This connection to both the Queen of
England and Germany was problematic for the Tsarina because she found herself trying to be
Russian, German, and English which ultimately produced distrust between her and the Russian
people. Though the Tzar Nicholas II showed her love and interest, the Russian society

Essay On Blink
Blink essay #2
People make decisions everyday, some of those decisions can be made unconsciously without little
to no thought, while others require more in depth conscious thinking. Blink talks about why the
spontaneous decisions can often be better than the carefully thought out ones. Throughout the
book Gladwell gives the readers examples that support his main message of: The spontaneous
decisions we make are often just as good as, or better than carefully planned conscious ones,
although there can be risks to those. After reading Blink, I do not feel that I personally agree

Most of these decisions have to be made consciously. You can t just decide spontaneously what
to wear, you have to make sure the outfit matches. Although some can be made unconsciously
such as talking to people. When someone says hi to you, you don t think about it you just
respond saying hi. Throughout the day we all make decisions using our unconscious and
conscious. In some situations there are times when you can t make a spontaneous decision, or it
may lead you in the wrong direction such as it lead the policemen in the Bronx the wrong way.
Recently I was faced with a tough decision that had to be made consciously otherwise I most
likely would have made the wrong choice. I was trying to decide whether I should continue
playing field hockey or if I should switch to Cross Country. I have been playing field hockey since
I was in fourth grade so I didn t want to just quit with no thought put into it. On the other hand if I
was to quit and run cross country, I would become a stronger runner which would help me with
track. I thought of the pros and cons of each and was conflicted. I loved field hockey but I also
love track and wanted to become stronger. I eventually chose Cross Country. This was not an
easy choice and if I had made it spontaneously, I would have chose not to quit field hockey which
would have been the wrong choice. My life experiences have also lead me to disagree with
Gladwell s main message. In

The Importance Of Life In The Nursing Home
Anna Mae Halgrim Seaver felt powerless. The words she used to describe the nursing home
facility and her treatment forced me to imagine myself in a nursing home. I have never
experienced what Ms. Seaver went through, and I can assume that no nursing home facility has
experienced it either. Above all, the main thing that could have been done to make her life more
tolerable is educating the staff members of the facility and staff members in general in the health
care field on what it is like to live in a nursing care facility. Imagine living the majority of your
life as a teacher with a degree in music, or the founder of a multimillion dollar company, imagine
having individuals learn from you and respect you throughout your life and then suddenly have that
taken away. Educating staff on the importance of upholding respect for patients is important, we
need to make every patient feel safe and being respectful plays a large part in doing so.
The attitude towards her placement in the nursing home is more of a sad acceptance. Ms. Seaver
understands she is getting older and that with aging you may lose control over your bowels or
be unable to walk because your bones become a little weaker over time, but her mind is still
there, yet she is treated as if she has lost it. Ms. Seaver accepts why she has been placed in a
nursing home but she is incredibly unhappy that her independence and privacy has been taken away.

participating in it. The federal court had decided to determine is the two provisions of the bill were
unconstitutional or not and if it is right for other courts to rule on the constitutionality of the
Affordable Care Act. On the basis of this, the Supreme Courtdecided that the individual mandate is
a constitutional exercise of Congress to lay tax plans out. This decision was unexpected by many,
as lower courts believed the opposite of the mandate. The court ruled in favor on the basis of three
factors, which were Americans eventually have to pay less for the penalties rather than the price of
insurance, the mandate provision does not turn on an individual if they do not purchase insurance
and it does prohibit the IRS from collecting the payments through punitive means such as criminal

Essay On Homecoming Midnight Madness
I attended the 2016 Homecoming Midnight Madness. The pep rally had many performances by
the cheerleaders and dance team. There was also a half court shooting contest, but nobody was
able to make a basket. There were a lot of free items to collect such as t shirts, cups, hats, and
towels. The free items were so nice and I was so excited to get a hat. The pep rally made me feel
like Seton Hill truly is a home away from home. It felt like we were all a big family at the pep
rally because we were all having a great time together. I also liked being able to have some fun
with my friends because we are always studying. There are many ways I could become more
involved in the event. I could volunteer to be a MC for the event, which I would be nervous
about because I do not like to speak in front of large crowds. I could volunteer to hand out the
free items, which I would like to do better than being the MC. I could not perform in the pep rally
because I am not a member of the dance or cheerleading team. I would not be interested in that
because I am not a talented dancer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Long Walk And Freedom By Robert Nelson Mandela
Long Walk to Freedom , released in 1995, is a biographical story about the revolutionary and
former South African President Nelson Mandela. The book narrates how Mandela becomes a
remarkable leader in the construction of a democratic South Africa. It chronicles his early life,
growing up, education and his 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to
rebuild the country s segregated society. Mandela begins his book with a description of his
ancestry and later goes on to talk about his early childhood, which mainly consisted on herding
cattle and practicing a traditional southern South African type of martial art. When Mandela
became of age, his father sent him to school, which was a rare privilege for a child in his village.
Mandela transcended at school and his uncle decided to invest on Nelson s school success by
sending him to a series of exclusive boarding schools.
In the following sections of his biography, Mandela describes his young adulthood and his gradual
metamorphosis into a leader of South Africa s freedom and equality movement. As a young adult,
Nelson moved to Johannesburg and became an active member in the African National Congress
(ANC), an organization dedicated to fight for the rights of black South Africans. Mandela joins the
ANC s Youth League; a subgroup that advocated similar, but more radical ideals than the main
organization, in which he adopted a leadership role.

Racial Diversity In The Media
Racial diversity in the media, a genuine look at how the media portrays different races. The
loose words used to describe each culture in the media. Media has three main forms the internet,
television and the news in print. Dependent on which one you use the view may can sway one
way or another. Recent media has been reluctant on processing the news straight forward. The
spin of information for ratings causes viewers to look past their favorite news. Viewers now take a

Media is reporting these stories, yet there is no one living afterward to confirm the story.
Luckily, due to technology you may not get it from your local broadcast. If you wait someone
will post videos and the victim or wrong doer may get justice. Evidence of media stereotyping
has happened recently. Louisiana had another flood and the people went into panic mode. Two
media sources reported people wading through water from a grocery store. An African American
couple they labeled as stealing. The same day a Caucasian couple doing the same thing labeled
as finding food to survive. Certainly, if it were not for social media and further research many
may have missed both sides. This is why it is imperative for people to think outside of their box
and explore the whole of social media. The picture above is proof that the media skews the
information according to their audience. Both of these articles were written on the same day in
the same city. The media appears to shed a negative light on African Americans in the media. A
story that comes to mind was a Caucasian couple who resided in the suburbs and had average
jobs. The media describes them so eloquently as a family who just made a wrong decision. The
article described them as In their hometown of Trinity, Alabama, MaryAnn and Wesley Landers
were seen as doting parents of two girls, a couple with a very strong faith (www.whnt.com).

The Impact Of Rap Music On Today s Society
The impact of rap music in today s society is extremely substantial. Many Americans listen to rap
music, even though different rap artist discuss various issues in their songs, it may influences
their fans to do the same. A large amount of rap music contains explicit lyrics that describe illegal
activities, aggression, and sexual content. Researchers from Iowa State University and the Texas
Department of Human Services found that aggressive music lyrics increase aggressive thought
and feelings, might perpetuate aggressive behavior and have long term effects (American
Psychological Association). Therefore, when Americans listen to rap music with that type of
perspective it promotes misogyny, illegal activities and sexual content. Rap music not only
describes violence but it exploits females. For example, the song entitled Gold Digger by Kanye
West says She take my money when I m in need ,Yea she s a trifling friend indeed ,Oh she s a
gold digger way over town, That digs on me not including that the music video shows women
dancing provocatively in lingerie as well as posing in sexual positions (Pittsburgh Post Gazette).
According to Dr. West, rap music identifies young black women in five sexual different personas.
Those five different personas are a diva, gold digger, freak, gangster b**** and baby mama
(Pittsburgh Post Gazette). The WebMD article states that after one year of studying 522 African
Americanfemales between the ages of 14 18 from lower socioeconomics

Summary Of Blake s Innocent Chimney Sweeper
The way in which both poems are structured is also important in understanding the relationship
between innocence and experience. As one becomes less ignorant towards the suffrage around
them, they become bitter towards their own society, which is clearly reflected in the structure of the
poems. Blake s Innocent ChimneySweeper is perfectly symmetrical, consisting of six stanzas, each
containing four lines of four beats. This gives the poem a song like quality, which is effective in
highlighting the sadness of the subject matter. Child labour is not a joyful subject matter and
should not be associated with upbeat songs. It can be argued that Blake structures the poem in this
way to illustrate that the narrator uses song to cope through his intensive labour, for it is the only
part of his childhoodthat he can still cling to. This also contributes towards showing how young the
children are, because the lyrical quality and the positive tone used throughout the poem reflects the
youthfulness of the narrator. The contrast between the sound of the poem and its content highlights
the narrator s way of trying to preserve his own innocence. This contrast is also effective in showing
that Tom Darce is ignorant, and therefore, still innocent towards suffrage because he uses songs and
daydreams to mask his painful reality, illustrated when he envisions running down a green plain,
leaping, laughing. As the poem progresses, the rhymes eventually become less regular, which ruins

Although these problems at the workplace has been recognized globally, a culture of silence still

Studies have proved that nurses continuously face physical, emotional and verbal abuse in their
workplace settings by patients, patient s families, physicians, administrators, fellow nurses and
other healthcare workers (Judkins Cohn, 2010). According to a limited number of studies, verbal
abuse experienced by nurses negatively impact their morale and job performance influencing the
quality of patient care. In some cases, nurses just transfer to a different unit or department because
of experiencing verbal or physical abuse.

The Comparison And Contrast Of The 1905 And February...
The Comparison and Contrast of The 1905 and February Revolution There is a substantial
difference between the 1905 Russian Revolution and the February Russian Revolution. To begin
with, a revolution is defined as a major, sudden and therefore usually violent alteration in
government and in related associations and structures. The nature and origin of these two
revolutions were somewhat similar, but there were still many differences that outweighed the
similarities. The origins of the two revolutions differ. The 1905 revolution happened due to long
term discontent such as the dissatisfaction of peasants of workers following Witte s economic
policies of squeezing the peasants out of more money than anyone could afford, or the oppression
of intelligentsia that occured to stop the ideals of modernisation something the Tsar was not able to
adapt to. Also, the nationalism of minority groups submitted to Russification was growing. While
the dissatisfaction remained intact when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1905 revolution, 400,000 peasants went on strike. The February revolution also had
the soldiers on its side one of the main reasons why the 1905 revolution was not a success, was
that soldiers were ordered to shoot at the civilians (such as during Bloody Sunday, the spark of
the 1905 revolution, during which shots were fired at peaceful protesters) while during the
February Revolution the soldiers refused to shoot at the protesting crowds and eventually joined
in the protests against the Tsar, whose support was fastly eroding. Officers were beaten up and
even killed and therefore Nicholas II lost control of the army. This is extremely significant as with
the soldiers battling against oppressive autocracy, there was a small line of defense for the Tsar and
opposition to the Revolution could be taken out easily (such as police). With the majority of people
against the Tsar, united in their battle, their chances of success

10 Things I Hate About You Movie Analysis
Introduction/Plot: (Rachel)
Romantic comedy films, also known as rom coms or romedies , are films with light hearted,
humorous plot lines, centred on romantic ideals such as that true love is able to surmount most
obstacles. Romantic comedy films are a sub genre of both comedy and romance films.
************************************************************************************
10 Things I Hate About You is one of Hollywood s greatest Romantic Comedies. Directed by Gil
Junger, the 1999 film is a retelling of Shakespeare s well known comedy, The Taming of the Shrew,
presented in a contemporary American High School setting.

10 Things I Hate About You can be classified as a romantic comedy as Lazar has reinforced many
of the generic conventions in his composition. More specifically, this film takes the form of a
screwball comedy. Among the first examples of the romantic comedy genre, screwball comedies
were popular in the 1930s. By pitting the male and female against each other, they presented the
battle of the sexes , where the characters were antagonists until they later came to the realisation
that they could not live without each other. In a screwball comedy, the female lead needed taming .

How Does Chomsky Universal Grammar
Chomsky argues that every child has a Language Acquisition Device or LAD which encodes the
major principles of language and its grammatical structure into the child s brain. Children have then
to learn new vocabulary and apply the syntax structure from the LAD to form sentences. Chomsky
points out that a child could not possibly learn a language through imitation alone because the
language spoken around them is irregular. Language exists in the mind before experience. Noam
Chomskyhe then believes that children are born with an inherited ability to learn any human
language. He claims that certain linguistic structures which children use so accurately must be
already imprinted on the child s mind. Adult s speech is often broken up and even sometimes
ungrammatical. Chomsky s theory applies to all languages as they all contain nouns, verbs,
consonants and vowels and children appear to be hard wired to acquire the grammar. Every
language is extremely complex, often with indirect distinctions which even native speakers are
unaware of. However, all children,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, despite their different methods, Husserl and Chomsky both agree that languages are
organized by universal structural rules. Yet because Chomsky ties universal grammar to the
existence of an innate language mechanism, his theory falls under the attack Hilary Putnam, who
argues that grammar must be learned. Husserl offers an alternative to the contrast of grammar as
universal or grammar as learned: as is clear especially from his work Experience and Judgment, he
argues it is both. Husserl shows how grammar arises from experience, giving support that language
is learned. Yet because of the very specific nature of this formation of grammar, particularly its
origin in states of affairs, Husserl supports Chomsky s claim that the structure of language is

Typography Of Media
These days, the media plays a big part in the culture of the world. The media is a powerful source
that we ve been using for years and years since technology has been invented, starting with
newspapers and television. Throughout the years, media has changed since the transition from
newspapers to television broadcastingbecause of the changes of entertainmentand what people are
into as time goes on. In the book Amusing Ourselves to Death, Postman looks at how print culture
or typography has changed the media, how it evolved to televisionand what it s doing to our culture
and the way that people think. In the beginning of the book and all throughout, Postman brought up
the concept of media metaphor when talking about how the media... Show more content on

According to Postman, before images were used in our everyday media, Americans were more
logical and politically engaged because they were focused more on speech and had more
rational thoughts. He says that our speech patterns were different when we printed everything,
we wrote better and read better which is why we were better thinkers. I agree to his analysis and
conclusions about how television has changed our thinking. We ve became a society that won t
be persuaded unless we re entertained or it has some kind of emotional appeal to it. Ever since
televisions and printed images came into existence, we get easily bored when something isn t
captivating. This can also be a bad thing for example, we believe things easily when it sounds
good or shocking to us without logically thinking about it. This causes us to have different
perspectives thanks to how the media portrays certain situations. I also agree with Postman when
he talked about how people are less engaged because of the media changes. One of the examples
that Postman used was about the Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas debate, it was a
simple and short oral debate that lasted for 2 hours and people sat through the whole thing without
breaks. In this new media era, it s not that easy for us to sit through long oral debates or lectures or
we ll get bored because our attention span is not that long. Since

Characteristics Of Inspirational Women In The 19th Century

Inspirational Women Women in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries have faced many obstacles.
Many of these obstacles included inequality of the sexes, slavery, and unheard voices and most
importantly recognition. These women all have different stories to tell. Many of these stories
progress into greatness despite the difficulties and hardships to hear that voice of victory they ve
searched their whole life for. As I observe writers in the 17th 19th century, I ve learned these women
struggle with the darkness of being unheard for many years hiding behind their husbands,
masters, and etc. because society prefer to treasure men over women who work twice as hard as
they normally would do. Phillis Wheatley had to fight in court to prove she wrote her poems
because people didn t believe a slave could write poems that speak to the human soul. In her first
book , Poems of Various Subjects, Religious and Morals in the poem Imagination she is letting
readers know that she imagines herself having a free soul that travels through the air to meet god in
heaven. Soaring through air to find the bright abode,Th empyreal palace of the thund ring God
(Line 15 16). She became the first African american author to have her work published in 1773.
Secondly, in 1797, Sojourner Truthwas born in Swartekill Ulster County New York. Sold at the

Plato s Myth of the Cave and Carver s Cathedral provide insight into parallel words. The
protagonists in each story are trapped in a world of ignorance because each is comfortable in the

unfamiliar territory. Fortunately the narrator in the Cathedral is forced by circumstances to take a
risk. This risk leads him into new world of insight and understanding.

not realize that the blind man was in his causeway out of ignorance. He did not realize that the
simple act of his wife inviting the blind guest would lead to major new discoveries about himself
and his ignorance. The narrator s wife has been exposed to knowledge, which is what Robert
represents in this story, for many years. She was more aware of the world because of her
relationship with Robert. This exposure was instrumental in presenting her husband with a
learning opportunity. Her husband was given the opportunity to see the light. This was territory
into which he would have never ventured on his own. His fears from his own cave prevented
such risky behavior. This was opportunity for him to learn, grow, and develop in a myriad of
ways. He would gain in his relationship with his wife. He would gain new insights about himself,
and most of all he would gain knowledge that would pull him out of his own cave. The narrator

Analysis Of Thin Slicing
Having watched an interesting movie about the Navy SEAL (Sea, Air, and Land) Team such as
Lone Survivor or any other movies about wars, has anyone of us thought about how those task
force teams could deal with the hot situations they encounter while doing their jobs? How can they
make decisions that quickly so as to survive in those circumstances? According to Malcom
Gladwell, the author of Blink, human beings have an ability to make unconsciously quick
decisions, which is called thin slicing, in every split second. Gladwell s concept of thin slicing is
defined as the ability of our brain to pick out key patterns within a limited amount of data or
experiences and then make snap judgment, or quick decision, based upon those patterns. However,
this does not mean that our judgments can always be right. This only means that the process of thin
slicing is unconscious, instant and automatic. This process helps people solve problems quickly or
predict consequences in a short amount of time without knowing that they are doing it. There are
right judgments and there are also mistakes that being made every day.
As illustrated in the text, the first task of Blink is to convince you of a simple fact: decisions
made very quickly can be every bit as good as decisions made cautiously and deliberately. The
second task of Blink is to answer when should we trust our instincts, and when should we be wary
of them? The third and most important task of this book is to convince you that our

The Decision Making Process Of Public Bodies On Decisions...
Scenario A This is an application for judicial review. Judicial review is a means of reviewing and
challenging the decision making process of public bodies on decisions that affect both the
individuals and the public. Judicial review is discretionary. It allows those affected to challenge
the process so therefore it is not an appeal. In a claim for a judicial review there is a certain
criteria that must be met in order for the application to succeed. The key points in theory are
party being reviewed must be a public body, concerns a public law issue and the individual
/group have standing. According to Lloyd LJ ...if a body in question is exercising public law
functions, or if the exercise of its functions have public law consequences, then that may be
sufficient ti bring the body within the reach of judicial review thus making it a public body as
stated in the case of R v Panel on Takeover and Mergers, ex parte Datafin (1987). Detection of a
public body is a two stage test as defined in the case of Datafin which are the source of power and
functions test also known as Defacto public functions test. In this case therefore applying the two
stage test, minister for family affairs is a public body because he is the head of a government
department thus carrying out functions that directly affects the public. Public law is the
relationship between public body of the state and an individual. The decision made by the minister
has directly affected Rajwinder and Simran thus

  • 3. The Effect Of Weight Lifting And Its Effects On Basketball... Weight Lifting and Its Effects on Basketball Players Ten people gather around a center point waiting as two giants square off between one another, clashing for the most valuable prize of the battle ahead: the basketball. A game of strategy and high demands, basketball calls on both the body and the mind in harmony in order to secure a victory. It calls on your body in many ways that will strip you of energy unlike any other sport. Additionally, the game will demand a high intelligence and acumen from the mind when making split second decisions. Lifting weights can positively impact your body, physically and mentally; furthermore, this training can then be applied onto the basketball court to help increase the physical and mental attributes of a player. Being well equipped physically for basketball provides many advantages when you apply it correctly. Basketball is a unique sport that contains non stop movement in every moment. The objective is simple: score more points than the other team. This is accomplished by a constant burst of speed, agility, and quickness that combines for fluid motions up and down the court. If a player is not trained properly, this consistent activity can be extremely strenuous to their body. Plus, in a game of basketball the gameplay is live until the ball goes out of bounds, there is a foul, timeout called, or the end of a quarter. While this may seem like quite a few factors to allow a dead ball and some rest time, they do not occur as much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Critical Evaluation Of Various Components The reflective essay will pertain to chapter 8 and my critical evaluation of various components in this chapter. Attention is different for everyone, so ideally we all have things we play closer attention too. When I m out and I see people who wear pink or have sparkles I tend to pay more attention that area. I also get distracted very easily so if I am out and about and there is commotion going on I ll stop to see what all the fuss is about. My own selective attentiondeals with movements, sparkly and pink objects. If any of those apply my retina will process that for me. What types of things do you pay close attention too? Selective attention makes me think of being at a party or some type of gathering where you don t really know anyone. I usually make saccades of the environment. If I see someone I know or looks familiar I will remain fixated for a couple seconds than look away. At that moment I try and process how I recognize them. When I first saw the term dichotic listening this is what came to mind. Whisper down the alley is what popped up in my brain. I learned this game in elementary school where one person whispers a message into your and you pass it on to the next person. Sometimes there were two messages that were started in both directions, than passed to each individual participating. Whiter it is one message or two the whole point was to see if the message in the end matched the original message. In most cases it did not, do too how we hear the message is ... • 6. Hudson Taylor Student Review I have seen that living in luxury is pointless and not only that but it can effect the way one lives for God. When you live with just the necessities, you show yourself that there is more to entertainment and comfort in life, that seeking material wealth all the time, Is a waste of time and the precious gift of life which God has bestowed upon us to live for His glory and not our own. Gods will is indeed inedible. Nothing we can do will prevent what He has in store for us in this life and the next. When we do follow Gods will and obey Him, much joy and peace will pursue those who follow Christ. Blessings abound in the righteous living of the one who obeys and hears God. #9;Hudson Taylor was a calm, peaceful man, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hudson was faithful to God. His actions are a true model of the missionary of today and tomorrow. Hudson s faith could be a lesson for us all, quot; The assurance was brought vividly to me that what ever I asked of God in the name of Christ would be done; that the father maybe glorified in the son, that what I had to do was seek strength for the long walk, to receive it by faith and set out upon it. Unhesitatingly I told the Lord I was quite willing to take the walk if He would give me the strength. quot; (Pg. 42) Hudson lived for God and not himself, as seen in chapter three, quot; I soon found that I could live upon very much less than I had previously thought possible. Butter, Milk and other such luxuries I soon ceased to use; and I found that living mainly on oatmeal and rice, with occasional variations, a very small sum was sufficient for my needs. In this way I had more than two thirds of my income available for other purposes; and my experience was that the less I spent on my self, and the more I gave away, the fuller of happiness and blessings did my soul become. quot; (Pg. 21) #9;The spiritual account of Hudson is one to be reckoned in that, He is an example and role model for missionaries today. Likewise from reading the account of Hudson Taylor, I realize that life is to important to waste on the luxuries of life, living for self and not for Christ, but true blessings and wisdom come for those who follow Christ and obey, ... • 7. The Life and Works of Bertolt Brecht Essay The Life and Works of Bertolt Brecht In this essay I will consider the life and works of Bertolt Brecht, the famous theatre practitioner who has had such a dramatic impact on our understanding of the theatre and acting. First of all I will give a biography of Brecht because it is important to know the background of his life in order to understand the motives he had for writing and producing plays in the way he did. We will see a direct correlation between events in his life and the plays and techniques that he propagated. I will then move to explore the methods and techniques that Brecht developed, looking at how they came about and who influenced his work. I will look at Brecht s theory of Epic theatre, tracing the beginnings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was studying medicine but his real interests were in drama and the theatre. During the war he was posted as a nurse in an army hospital near his home thereby escaping the horrors of the front line. He was dealing with severely wounded soldiers and this shocked him to the realities of death and made him see the futility of war, something that rallied him to fight for peace through his political plays. After the war Brecht went to Munich to find work in the theatre and then on to Berlin, where he stayed. He quickly got to know the main actors and directors of the time and soon became involved in directing and performing. He gathered a group of friends who worked with him and on his behalf, thus began his habit of collaborating with others. In the 1920 s Brecht married Helene Weigel who remained his wife for the rest of his life. He also wrote these three plays: Drums in the Night, In The Jungle of the Cities and Baal. Each of these plays was directed by leading directors at the time and they attracted al lot of scandal because of the provoking content and new style. He also undertook his first collaboration with the composer Kurt Weill in Mahogonny and then The Threepenny Opera, which was immensely popular and firmly established him as a leading playwright and theatre practitioner. • 8. Demographic Transition Of Pre Industrial demographic transition theory is a widespread explanation of the changing mold of humanity, fertility and increase rates as civilizations move from one demographic system to another. The term was first coined by the American demographer Frank W. Notestein in the mid twentieth century, but it has since been elaborated and expanded upon by many others (The Demographic Transition, 2012). There are four stages of demographic transition. The first stage of the demographic transition is called pre industrial. In this stage, the population is stable. The birth and death rates are both high. The death rates are at a high due to the increase of disease, poor medical and personal hygiene care along with the limited supplies of food. With the death rates being high, people are having more babies to help with mortality rates being so high. With the birth and death rates being equal, the population growth stays at a zero. The second stage of the demographic transition theory is called the transitional stage. In this state the population starts to increase. This happens because the birth rates are high and the death rates are starting to decline. The second stage is when the development of modern medicine and food distribution is started to take hold and the death rate starts to diminish. (Saucedo, 2011) The reason the death rates are starting to decline is due to the reason that the country is transitioning into an industrial county. This means that there are improvements in the ... • 9. Private School Vouchers I agree with Mark that vouchers divert public money to unaccountable private institutions, such as charter schools. Most private schools also have the ability to deny admission and still be able to accept the taxpayer money. Private schools also have the ability to cherry pick students, unlike public schools. As we discussed in recitations, private schools are more likely to choose students in a dual parent household because they believe that those parents are more likely to be involved in schoolactivities. I believe that public taxpayer money should only provide support for public schools that are accountable and open for all people. Another reason why I dislike the voucher system is that vouchers do not actually improve opportunities for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first line of defence against invading organisms is classified as the innate immune response and the second line of defence and protection against re exposure to the same pathogen is known as the adaptive immune response. Innate immune responses are known as the non specific manner which composes the cells and defend the host from infection by other organism by mechanism. The adaptive immunity represents the antigen specific immune response. Compare to innate immune response, adaptive response is more complex. If a pathogen breaches barriers: innate immune response result into an immediate effect of non specific response. All Innate immune systems derived from plants and animals, when a pathogen evades the innate response, a third layer of protection is possessed by vertebrates in which activation of adaptive immune system takes place. The immune system response adopts itself within an infection and pathogen recognition is improved. As a result of the improved response, its then retains itself when the pathogen is eliminated in form of an immunological memory and allows the adaptive immune system to mount faster and stronger when pathogen is encountered each time. To be able to distinguish among self and non self molecules, both immune and adaptive immunity depends on the ability of the immune system. Self molecules are known as the components in which the body disguise itself from foreign substances by immune system. Non self discrimination molecules are known as the foreign molecules. One of its function is the antigen, this substance bind with specific immune receptors and immune response elicit. When the pathogen replicates different components of immune system evolves to protect against various types of pathogens. • 11. William Shakespeare s King Lear Essay Shakespeare s King Lear is regarded to be one of his most successful piece of literature, published in the 17th century, in which he depicts a dramatic adaptation of relationships between parents and their children. Preceding the twentieth century, several critics have deemed King Lear as a classic tragedy and therefore labelling the character of Lear as a tragic hero . This is because much like the ancient Greek legend of Oedipus, Lear s sense of pride is what consequently leads to his demise from the very beginning, where Lear is arguably at the pinnacle of his power. Therefore, upon the traditional reading of King Lear, Lear s human qualities shown following his downfall as king would prove this character suitable for the title as a tragic hero; where a lesson can be learned, thus allowing an Elizabethan audience to feel a sense of moral justice at the end of the play (however, the existence of the sub plot involving Edmund and Gloucester alongside that of Lear s tragedy and his daughters implies a lack of distinction from Lear s character to other true tragic heroes). In light of this, it could change our overall interpretation of the play itself to be Shakespeare s personal comments on the Human Condition to his advantage, removes any suspicion that he may be making a direct comment on the death of an ageing monarchy and rise of a usurper towards the Catholic James 6th of Scotland by intentionally setting the play in a pre Christian Albion world. • 12. The During The Gilded Age America Experienced The Second... During the Gilded Age America experienced the Second Industrial Revolution . Between the end of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States underwent one of the most rapid and profound economic revolutions any country has ever experienced. There were numerous causes for this explosive economic growth. The country enjoyed abundant natural resources, a growing supply of labor, an expanding market for manufactured goods, and the availability of capital for investment. The uprising of big businesses, railroads, and factory transformed America from being based on small farm work into an industrial powerhouse. During the Second Industrial Revolution the role of big business in federal and state governments was a monumental turning point in the history of this country, setting a foundation which has come to play a big role in government policy today. In a time period where the American Government did not have a real system in place for becoming an elected official, a great portion of the government was corrupted by people put in place by owners of big businesses and in turn they agreed to pass laws or do other favors for their benefit. Moguls such as John D. Rockefeller, and Andrew Carnegie played major roles big business. The rapid expansion of factory production, mining, and railroad construction in all parts of the country except the South signaled the transition from Lincoln s America a world centered on the small farm and artisan workshop to a ... • 14. John Bowlby s Work Of Attachment John Bowlby s work in attachment has been one of the foundational works when determining the level of attachments and bonds that a child and parent may experience (Webb, 2011). According to Bowlby, attachment is referring to a lasting, mutual bond of affection that is dependent on an individual or more than one person (Webb, 2011). Establishing a secure attachment during infancy and early childhood is an important task of a parent or a caregiver. Not all parents or caregivers can provide their child or children with a secure attachment at this important in life due to various reasons. Since parents are the main providers in their child s development of attachment, their lives and history have a great influence on their children s lives. One psychosocial factor is the family s socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic statuses have been researched to be one of the most influential factors in rather or not a family will succeed or face challenges, it can be a determinant in the development of mental health, physical health, and emotional health. A parent s educational level, their occupation, and income could place the family in either a beneficial or hindering situation, in return, affecting the way a parent could establish attachment with their child. For example, a single parent raising their child and having to manage two jobs, could result in limited attachment to their parent or primary caregiver. • 15. Separation of Powers in the Commowealth This doctrine was formulated by French philosopher Montesquieu who theorized that abuse of powers by the three branches would be checked through separating the branches functionally and physically. This means no branch should perform function of the other and no person can hold office simultaneously in the branches. However, there are instances where state courts have influences from the decisions of cases in the Commonwealth courts. In the ruling made in the case Kable v Director of public prosecution1996 189 CLR51.This case forbid states court exceeding federal jurisdiction. Therefore, State Supreme courts rely on decisions of federal courts and vice versa (Harris, 2013). In the separation of powers there is the doctrine that courts cannot be vested with non judicial power and federal judicial powers cannot be vested in a state court. It goes that if a court exercises non judicial power, then separation of powers will be violated. The states do not have explicit separation of powers in their respective constitutions. Jefferson grew up in Virginia to a well respected family, while Hamilton was born in the Caribbean Island of St. Croix, but moved to America when he at age thirteen to get a better education. They were both prodigies in writing, Hamilton wrote about a hurricane around eleven, amazing many people, and Jefferson was able to write eloquence with his pen, all throughout his life. Besides the debate who government shall be run by, they also had different opinions on what type of laws should be set in place, loose or strict construction. Loose construction allows the government to stretch or change the constitution, as long as it benefits the common good of the people. While strict construction, makes the government follow the exact laws set in place by the constitution. Hamilton had the better vision with the idea of loose construction because the government changes throughout time, the needs of the people changes, so the constitution would be have to be amended and stretched to fit those needs. Another debate between Jefferson and Hamilton was whether or not the Bill of Rights was needed before the government was formed. While Hamilton said that the Bill of Rights was unnecessary to have before the government was formed, Jefferson had the better opinion. The Bill of Rights gave the people and states rights, before a government is formed the people in the country and the government should know what rights the states and citizens have, so there will be no law that contrasts to the rights of the people. The United States economy was another extensive topic that Jefferson and Hamilton disagreed on, both had very strong arguments. Financial institutions are looking for transactional security, airports for highly reliable verification systems and corporations for data protection. The solution to all of these problems is embedded in technology; a technology involving biometrics and Information Systems. Looking in depth at biometrics and information systems, we will discuss the different forms used to counter long waiting periods and security deceptions. The question that would be answered will be how those measures will prevent fraud and make identification and banking transaction more secure. Finally, we will provide recommendations about which biometric measure best suits the banking industry and how it can improve the current system in place. Little Miss Sunshine Film Analysis Essay The film Little Miss Sunshine, Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Farris, explores the lives of a regular American family and how they change their lives in front of us in the Combie van on the road to the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. The film examines the issues of winning and losing, and what it means to be a winner, throughout many sequences in the film as well as exploring the value of family. The directors and the cinematic team use an extreme range of camera techniques, costuming, and sound techniques to reshape our understanding of winning and losing in the world we live in today. When all the competitors are introduced on stage we see Olive is far out of place just through her basic average costuming, compared to the other girls who are dressed like little Barbie dolls, with glittery clothes and excessive make up. Even though Olive is out of place and obviously doesn t belong in the competition, she still reflects Grandpa s view on classifying winners and losers which was introduced before he died. Grandpa believes that a real loser is someone who is so afraid of not winning they don t even try. Through the costuming and Olives actions the directors implant that view of winning and losing into the audience, which then reflects on our world today, as we need to show more support, not for the winners of a competition, but the courage people have developed to enter a competition. The Final key technique which is employed by the cinematic team of Little Miss Sunshine is the use of sound. Throughout the film there is an evident mixture of diegetic and non diegetic sounds. In the scene were Frank and Dwayne are out on the pier, starts with a non diegetic voice over from the Little Miss Sunshine pageant saying America, it s so beautiful . • 20. Synapse Specificity Analysis Memory formation occurs through LTP. This is due to the fact that LTP is synapse specific. Synapse specificity is the process of when a synapse is stimulated, only that synapse is affected; neighboring synapses that lie close by remain unaffected.1 Extending into this topic, CaMKII, an enzyme, was found to play a major role in synapse specificity. The increase of intracellular calcium from the unblocking of the NMDA type glutamate receptors resulting in the activation of CaMKII triggers LTP. The broad question that is then addressed in Lee et al s article, Activation of CaMKII in Single Dendritic Spines during Long Term Potentiation is what makes up the foundation of synapse specificity of LTP and how does CaMKII affect synapse specificity? To answer the questions previously asked, Lee et al conducted an experiment using several methods, which include fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), two photon microscopy, photostimulation, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The effect of CaMKII on synapse specificity is controlled by two factors: the rate of CaMKII s inactivation and its mobility. Starting with the rate of inactivation of CaMKII, the fluorescence lifetime of the GFP, in other words, the activation of CaMKII, lasted only two minutes. This went along with the observation calcium levels fall back to initial concentrations within milliseconds. This does not allow calcium to diffuse into neighboring spines and activate CaMKII due to the short time limit. Because of the fast rate of inactivation of CaMKII, CaMKII is forced to stick to one dendritic spine. Hence why, the activation of CaMKII follows synaptic specificity. The second factor is mobility of the activation of CaMKII. Using fluorescence decay, it was concluded that CaMKII had really slow mobility of diffusion out of a dendritic spine. Because CaMKII can t diffuse out of the spine fast enough, this also confines the activation of CaMKII to one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Heat Movie Analysis Don t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner. Robert De Niro s famous line playing the criminal Niel McCauley sets the tone for Michel Mann s Heat. Mann is able to have high octane action one would expect from a crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The combination of the two is what makes the film a crime drama (even though Michael Mann argues that it doesn t belong to a genre). That intimacy is what makes Heatmemorable. Mann creates the intimacy in a number of ways: through types of shots such as close ups and zoom ins, the score and the soundtrack, his use of lighting, camera angles, filming locations and use of shadows among others. The utilization of close ups and zoom ins allows the audience to get to know the characters. It shows the wear and tear on the characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we re able to feel how tired the characters are from their deep sighs and the dark circles under their eyes. Michael Mann wants the audience to become as close to the characters as possible. We are introduced to Al Pacinoduring a sex scene, that s about as intimate as the character to audience relationship can get. However, in my essay I will be attempting to answer the question of has feminism influenced music, particularly in the last 30 years. The near infinite variation of feminism expressed in a range of different types of music genres has led to many interesting and empowering assortments of music being established. One such genre is punk music, which is the most popular genre to be combined with feminism, to create hard hitting and powerful bands, which were most commonly formed, in particular, in the 1970s and 1990s. I will be investigating in this essay, in particular, questions such as what has been the most significant impact of feminism and music, and how this began to get popular, to help me answer the ultimate question of has feminism influenced music in the last 30 years? , and I will be exploring both sides of the argument and explaining both arguments for and against in detail. Has feminism influenced music? One argument that suggests feminism hasn t influenced music in the past 30 years is that recent artists are still protesting against gender inequality. Overpopulation can further be viewed, in a long term perspective, as existing when a population cannot be maintained given the rapid depletion of nonrenewable resources or given the degradation of the of the environment to give support to the population. Overpopulationis a problem that needs to be solved. Concern about overpopulation has existed for hundreds of years.Tertullian was a resident of the city of Carthage in the second century CE, when the population of the world was about 190 million. He said: What most frequently meets our view (and occasions complaint) is our teeming population. Our numbers are burdensome to the world, which can hardly support us.... In very deed, pestilence, and famine, and wars, and earthquakes have to be regarded as a remedy for nations, as the means of pruning the luxuriance of the human race. Before that, Plato, Aristotle and others had concern for the topic as well. Laws existing to prevent the rapid growth of the population have been around for hundreds of years. However in the modern world, China is one of the countries with laws regulating birth rates. They have two child per household limit to combat the rapid growth of the dense population. In 2014 it reached 17.16%. This implies either the revenue has been increasing or company is decreasing its operating expenses. We could also see increase on return on assets. • 41. The Importance Of Life In The Nursing Home Anna Mae Halgrim Seaver felt powerless. The words she used to describe the nursing home facility and her treatment forced me to imagine myself in a nursing home. I have never experienced what Ms. Seaver went through, and I can assume that no nursing home facility has experienced it either. Above all, the main thing that could have been done to make her life more tolerable is educating the staff members of the facility and staff members in general in the health care field on what it is like to live in a nursing care facility. Imagine living the majority of your life as a teacher with a degree in music, or the founder of a multimillion dollar company, imagine having individuals learn from you and respect you throughout your life and then suddenly have that taken away. Educating staff on the importance of upholding respect for patients is important, we need to make every patient feel safe and being respectful plays a large part in doing so. The attitude towards her placement in the nursing home is more of a sad acceptance. Ms. Seaver understands she is getting older and that with aging you may lose control over your bowels or be unable to walk because your bones become a little weaker over time, but her mind is still there, yet she is treated as if she has lost it. Ms. Seaver accepts why she has been placed in a nursing home but she is incredibly unhappy that her independence and privacy has been taken away. The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act ( Ppaca ) With the establishment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), more and more Americans are able to have access to the healthcare, but roadblocks have occurred in the road to get there. After the signing of the bill into law, about 26 states filed a lawsuit in the setting of a federal court. This was done to challenge the constitutionality of the individual mandate (individuals must possess a minimum level of health insuranceor face financial penalties) and the Medicaid expansion (individuals earning less than 133% of the poverty level baseline are eligible for Medicaid). The Medicare expansion is optional, however, as of current, all the states are participating in it. The federal court had decided to determine is the two provisions of the bill were unconstitutional or not and if it is right for other courts to rule on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. On the basis of this, the Supreme Courtdecided that the individual mandate is a constitutional exercise of Congress to lay tax plans out. This decision was unexpected by many, as lower courts believed the opposite of the mandate. The court ruled in favor on the basis of three factors, which were Americans eventually have to pay less for the penalties rather than the price of insurance, the mandate provision does not turn on an individual if they do not purchase insurance and it does prohibit the IRS from collecting the payments through punitive means such as criminal prosecution. The book narrates how Mandela becomes a remarkable leader in the construction of a democratic South Africa. It chronicles his early life, growing up, education and his 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country s segregated society. Mandela begins his book with a description of his ancestry and later goes on to talk about his early childhood, which mainly consisted on herding cattle and practicing a traditional southern South African type of martial art. When Mandela became of age, his father sent him to school, which was a rare privilege for a child in his village. • 47. The Impact Of Rap Music On Today s Society The impact of rap music in today s society is extremely substantial. Many Americans listen to rap music, even though different rap artist discuss various issues in their songs, it may influences their fans to do the same. A large amount of rap music contains explicit lyrics that describe illegal activities, aggression, and sexual content. Researchers from Iowa State University and the Texas Department of Human Services found that aggressive music lyrics increase aggressive thought and feelings, might perpetuate aggressive behavior and have long term effects (American Psychological Association). Therefore, when Americans listen to rap music with that type of perspective it promotes misogyny, illegal activities and sexual content. Rap music not only describes violence but it exploits females. For example, the song entitled Gold Digger by Kanye West says She take my money when I m in need ,Yea she s a trifling friend indeed ,Oh she s a gold digger way over town, That digs on me not including that the music video shows women dancing provocatively in lingerie as well as posing in sexual positions (Pittsburgh Post Gazette). • 48. Summary Of Blake s Innocent Chimney Sweeper The way in which both poems are structured is also important in understanding the relationship between innocence and experience. As one becomes less ignorant towards the suffrage around them, they become bitter towards their own society, which is clearly reflected in the structure of the poems. Blake s Innocent ChimneySweeper is perfectly symmetrical, consisting of six stanzas, each containing four lines of four beats. This gives the poem a song like quality, which is effective in highlighting the sadness of the subject matter. Child labour is not a joyful subject matter and should not be associated with upbeat songs. It can be argued that Blake structures the poem in this way to illustrate that the narrator uses song to cope through his intensive labour, for it is the only part of his childhoodthat he can still cling to. This also contributes towards showing how young the children are, because the lyrical quality and the positive tone used throughout the poem reflects the youthfulness of the narrator. The contrast between the sound of the poem and its content highlights the narrator s way of trying to preserve his own innocence. This contrast is also effective in showing that Tom Darce is ignorant, and therefore, still innocent towards suffrage because he uses songs and daydreams to mask his painful reality, illustrated when he envisions running down a green plain, leaping, laughing. As the poem progresses, the rhymes eventually become less regular, which ruins the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To begin with, a revolution is defined as a major, sudden and therefore usually violent alteration in government and in related associations and structures. The nature and origin of these two revolutions were somewhat similar, but there were still many differences that outweighed the similarities. The origins of the two revolutions differ. The 1905 revolution happened due to long term discontent such as the dissatisfaction of peasants of workers following Witte s economic policies of squeezing the peasants out of more money than anyone could afford, or the oppression of intelligentsia that occured to stop the ideals of modernisation something the Tsar was not able to adapt to. How Does Chomsky Universal Grammar Chomsky argues that every child has a Language Acquisition Device or LAD which encodes the major principles of language and its grammatical structure into the child s brain. Children have then to learn new vocabulary and apply the syntax structure from the LAD to form sentences. Chomsky points out that a child could not possibly learn a language through imitation alone because the language spoken around them is irregular. Language exists in the mind before experience. Noam Chomskyhe then believes that children are born with an inherited ability to learn any human language. He claims that certain linguistic structures which children use so accurately must be already imprinted on the child s mind. Adult s speech is often broken up and even sometimes ungrammatical. Analysis Of Thin Slicing Having watched an interesting movie about the Navy SEAL (Sea, Air, and Land) Team such as Lone Survivor or any other movies about wars, has anyone of us thought about how those task force teams could deal with the hot situations they encounter while doing their jobs? How can they make decisions that quickly so as to survive in those circumstances? According to Malcom Gladwell, the author of Blink, human beings have an ability to make unconsciously quick decisions, which is called thin slicing, in every split second. Gladwell s concept of thin slicing is defined as the ability of our brain to pick out key patterns within a limited amount of data or experiences and then make snap judgment, or quick decision, based upon those patterns. However, this does not mean that our judgments can always be right. This only means that the process of thin slicing is unconscious, instant and automatic. This process helps people solve problems quickly or predict consequences in a short amount of time without knowing that they are doing it. There are right judgments and there are also mistakes that being made every day. As illustrated in the text, the first task of Blink is to convince you of a simple fact: decisions made very quickly can be every bit as good as decisions made cautiously and deliberately.
