Euthyphro Dialogue Analysis
In the dialogue Euthyphro, Plato introduces the reader to the interlocutor Euthyphro, a dogmatically
religious man who claimed to have great knowledge of the gods. Euthyphro used his understanding of
pious and impious as an excuse to indict his father on murder charges. Socrates was interested in
Euthyphro s unshakable religious convictions but by using the Socratic method the reader slowly
learns that Euthyphro has not truly delved into himself and examined his strong held beliefs. Plato
holds Euthyphro up to the reader as an example and a warning, that even if one believes they are
living a righteous life, if they never stop and look within themselves and self examine their beliefs one
can do irreparable harm to not only their soul but to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates explained that the gods never explicitly stated what was right and wrong. Even when they
claimed to comment on just acts, they simple defined what they did as just because they believed it
was so. Socrates tried to explain to Euthyphro that discussing what the gods found to be just or
virtuous was a good start on the journey of self discovery but it wasn t the end of it. Euthyphro had to
continue on this journey and look within himself to seek and find the answers for himself. By taking
the time to work on himself internally and seek the answers to these questions and not just rely on
what gods say to be true, he would be on the path to living a life of areté. If Euthyphro did this, he
would no longer be in conflict with the world around him but in harmony with

The Housing Market Crash
Literature Review:
2007, that was the year that everyone knew the world was about to change. Many analysts studying
the markets knew that this day would come to surface. Among the citizens, few actually knew the
problems the housing market was having while many of them just noticed that they were now able to
purchase their dream home. Many Americans that knew that background however, were not aware of
what exactly sparked this issue, nor what was in store for them (Natl. GPO .2) At the time, many
citizens were not aware of what was going on in the housing market. The financial crisis would impact
several people for many years to come (Yanis.6). While many researchers may argue that large
financial issues in the United States have already ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While this action may be a short term cost to a long term solution, the generation paying the price will
be Generation Y and the Millennial. One major factor that comes with job market regulation is the
hike of minimum wage in order to meet the rising costs of every day goods. One of the only things
that economists agree on is that minimum wage kills jobs (Herlot, 783). This is a current issue that is
playing out in the United States economy today. The Bush and the Obama Administration factors on
the job market (Sanchez, Kopp, Sanzari, 243) has already had a major role in job losses throughout the
United States. There is an increasing gap in the job market between citizens with minimal education
needing minimum wage increases in order to obtain basic needs and educated individuals who can t
seem to find a job. With the current financial situation in mind, the amount post grad individuals with
significant amount of dept. is a problem. With the growth rate of the country s debt., unemployment
may see a significant increase in the next ten years (Reich, 174). Debt is currently increasing not only
due to the regulations of the job market, but also with the policies that currently exist. Recent policies
such as Medicare for all, and School Vouchers according to family income (Reich, 06), are costing the
government millions with

The Mandatory Minimum Sentencing Laws
Abstract Ben Whishaw once said, The criminal justice system, like any system designed by human
beings, clearly has its flaws. For many years, the criminal justice system has been criticized for its
many problems and errors; one in particular that caught my attention was the mandatory minimum
sentencing laws. These laws basically set minimum sentences for certain crimes that judges cannot
lower, even for extenuating circumstances. The most common of these laws deal with drug offenses
and set mandatory minimum sentences for possession of a drug over a certain amount. Sentencing
procedures can vary from jurisdiction to Jurisdiction. Most of these laws are ineffective and causes
unnecessary jail overcrowding. Over the years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, there was a case back in 2013 in Alabama where a 76 year old man, Lee Carroll
Brooker, was convicted of drug trafficking last year, and a judge sentenced him to life without parole
because of past robbery convictions in Florida. His son was also convicted. ( Roy Moore: Life
Sentence for Drug Violation Shows grave Flaw in Sentencing. AL.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 04 Dec. 2015.)
Brooker lived with his son in Houston County, and court documents show police found a marijuana
growing operation there during a search in 2013. Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore released a
statement on this case as the Supreme Court refused to overturn the case. I mean really, this is just
crazy how a petty drug offense can get a man life in prison and some other fool is let off easy, after
committing an armed robbery. The problem with LSD specifically is that it comes in many forms. For
instance, if a person is holding 1 hit of liquid LSD that is placed on a strawberry can get up to 10 years
in jail whereas another person with 100 hits of acid in paper form may not even get a mandatory
sentence if it weighs under a gram. The whole point behind the legislation comes in response to the
American public s desire to crack down on those who sell drugs. According to The USCC (U.S.
Sentencing Commission), fifty five percent of all federal drug defendants are low level offenders, such
as mules or street dealers.

Vice-Chief Johnson Observation
Five years ago, I was stationed on USS PEARL HARBOR. During my tour I was Leading Chief of
Navigation and Administration Department. Senior Chief Johnson was the Leading Chief of Operation
Department. Our Sailors shared living spaces. The Executive Officer inspected the living spaces each
day. During several inspections, he found that Sailors used shower curtain clips to hold the flow of
water open. The executive officer asked Senior Chief Johnson to fix the problem. One night after the
Navigation Brief in the wardroom, Senior Johnson wanted to discuss the living space issue. He was
tasked by the executive officer to resolve the shower issue. The conversation started calm. He told me

Kant Disinterestedness
Reflective judgement requires taking into account Kant s four factors of beauty: quality, necessity,
universality, and purposiveness. When applying judgement to an object, a person must first inspect the
quality of the object. Whether or not an object is able to instill the feeling of pleasure or displeasure on
the observer. However, the pleasure one acquires from an object must not be limited to the observer s
personal desires. That is, he must not secretly crave the objects. By suppressing one s desire for an
object, the observer perverts his judgement of the object. Consequently, in the section entitled Second
Moment , Kant believes that a person judges beauty through the unbiased concept of disinterestedness.
Kant refers to disinterestedness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant believes that, when we admire an object, we do so because we are attracted to why we find the
object stimulating. The problem lies in the fact that we cannot locate the source of the object s
purpose. That is to say, the object draws the observer to it, stimulates the senses, and fills the observer
with a yearning to inquire more about the object. For Kant, in order for an object to be beautiful, we
must recognize that the object has a purpose. However, we cannot limit the purpose of the object
based on its utility. These four factors are what Kant believes validates his theory that judgements of
beauty are both subjective and

On My Lunch Break I Entered A Wendy’S Fast Food Drive Thru
On my lunch break I entered a Wendy s fast food drive thru to order a strawberry frosty and two bacon
double cheese burgers. I made a call from my cell phone while waiting my turn in line to order. I sat
behind the cars and put Clinette on the speaker system that blasted her voice through the cab of my
truck. Her sexy voice answered. Hello, Clinette speaking. I smiled at her tempting tone. Damn,
Clinette you make it sound like you knew I was calling. Clinette laughed. Don t flatter yourself

double bacon cheeseburgers I have to go back to work if you don t mind! Your total is 3.58 cents. I
took out a 10.00 dollar bill and drove up to the window. I looked up into the cashier s booth. To my

Walt Disney And Mary Blair
Before a film is created, various designers work from a script to capture the exact atmosphere and tone
a film needs. There are hundreds, even thousands of artwork created behind a film while only a few
will ever meet the screen. Despite that, the artwork serves another purpose; the artwork encourages
and directs storyboard artists, animators, colorists, etc. to truly finish a film. One of those designers,
those artists, according to John Canemaker, helped Walt Disney move into a critical phase of his own
artistic journey. That artist was none other than the lovely Mary Blair. Her modernist style and talent
for pairing colors instantly became an iconic Disney trait that would inspire later films.
Mary Robinson Blair grew up during the Great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the vacation, the group would paint their observations along the streets of many cities and
villages. It was then, that Walt Disney truly fell for Mary Blair s art style and coloring skills. Walt had
described her work as translating real life observations into pure distillations of color and form, while
Mary recalled he had also stated Walt said that I knew about colors he had never heard of before.
Disney insisted Blair to work for him again, giving her projects like Penelope the Time Traveller.
Penelope the Time Traveller was a short animated film buried under time, but was an important
project to Blair, as working on it allowed her style to become flatter, bolder, and more modernist.
During this time, 95% of Disney footage was under government contract for training and propaganda
films, so Disney appointed Mary Blair as art director for the animated shorts to make them less
gloomy. Blair would then be appointed to doing concept art for Cinderella, in which her artwork
would become the basis for the film s overall color scheme. Other than that, a lot of animators found it
hard to work with Mary Blair s art style due to its flatness, despite Walt Disney s personal wish to
have her artwork more present in his films , while animators required a more realistic style to work
with. Mary Blair s art style would become more prominent in her next film, Alice in Wonderland. The
more creative, spontaneous tone of Alice in Wonderland was a perfect match for Mary Blair. Her art
style can be seen in the plants, patterns, color, and exaggerated silhouettes of the Alice in Wonderland
characters, especially during the Card Match scene within the movie. Her final film would be Peter
Pan, which also allowed Blair to get playful with illustrating the pixies, pirates, and mermaids within
the films.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Case Study Essay

However, it can also be diagnosed by performing some other combination of clinical presentations and
some other certain tests in order to find out the exact diagnosis. The first way of diagnosing is using
the characteristic symptoms and signs like joint pain, stiffness and swelling due to synovial
inflammation and effusion and also common symptoms of RA, tenderness, swollen joints, pain,
stiffness, limited motion in joints, loss of appetite, muscle pain and skin nodules (Richa, et al, 2013).
In clinical trials, rheumatoid arthritis is diagnosed formally by using seven American Rheumatism
Association (ARA) criteria. The typical outpatient practice, a definitive diagnosis using these criteria
may be difficult to obtain early in the disease process. During the initial visit, patients should be asked
about degree of pain, duration of stiffness and fatigue, and functional limitations. A careful joint
examination looking for the characteristics described above is vital (Rindfleisch Muller, 2005) and
other diagnostic tests can also be performed. The initial and most simple way of diagnosing is to take
an X ray. This can help the doctor to differentiate RA from

Thanksgiving Tradition Analysis
For families across the United States, Thanksgiving is a holiday to come together with family and
loved ones to celebrate the good things life has to offer. Before analyzing my own family s
Thanksgiving celebration, I thought that our type of festivities were normal to most families. While
some of the traditions of the holiday say something about our society as a whole, I was also able to
view the implicit meanings of my family s specific actions. This analysis made me realize that while
our society is attempting to move forward and break norms, they are still heavily present within our
everyday subconscious actions. Although I am grateful I was able to come to this realization, it
saddened me to see that way my family celebrated the holiday ... Show more content on

Although I was well versed and knowledgeable on the topic due to my studies in Design this quarter, I
chose to not speak up and join the debate because I did not view myself on the same level as both my
brother and my cousin. Due to me being the youngest, I felt as though I was less intellectual and
powerful than them. This depicts how power and dominance allows for hierarchy, even within
families. The conversations that I engaged in were also less intellectually stimulating, with my family
mostly asking about how college was, rather than my opinions on deeper matters. This shows that
even their treatment of me as the youngest reiterates the implicit hierarchical structure. The different
treatment between older members of my family and me is similar to George Gmelch s piece,
Birthdays, Basketball, and Breaking Bread: Negotiating with Class in Contemporary Black America.
The people of higher economic and social status in this piece treat their friends of lower status and
higher status differently, similar to how my family treats members of different ages. The act of
unequal treatment illustrates how our society continues to promote status and hierarchy, even though
we often say we disapprove of these

Greek Theatre And Modern Theatre
Without a doubt, the Greek theatre remains one of the most recognized and distinctive works in the
world. While we associate many features of modern theatre with their Greek counterparts, ancient
theatre was a very different animal. You will be surprised at how much Ancient Greece has influenced
us today. Without such topics such as drama, democracy and the Olympics coming from Ancient
Greece, sport would not be important. Drama was a huge part of ancient Greece. Theatre then became
extremely popular performed everywhere including festivals. Greek Tragedy and Comedy was
significantly important as not only did it provide entertainment for the ancient Greeks, but has
continued to influence society today, inspiring us to create similar styles of theatre into contemporary
plays today. Within this essay I hope to show how these ancient plays have transitioned into our
modern theatre, and how directors today have morphed them into relevant and relatable productions.
M Cartwright wrote sources which provides us with information on both Greek Comedy and Tragedy.
In the 6th century BCE, Greek tragedy played an important and influential role in theatre. The popular
form of drama was performed all over Greece. The most well known playwrights have come from
Greek tragedy such as Sophocles, and Euripides whose plays remained recognised, and continued to
be performed for years after their original premiere. Comedy was also a popular type of theatre in the
late 6th century. The most famous playwrights of the genre were Aristophanes and Menander and their
works, and those of their contemporaries, poked fun at politicians, philosophers, and fellow artists.
(Cartwright 2017). The source informed me the first appearance of Comedy, pottery in the 6th century,
used for decoration, often portrayed actors dressed as horses, satyrs, and dancers in exaggerated
costumes. (Cartwright 2017). Poetry was also another early source of comedy. Archilochus and
Hipponax were Greek poets whose satyr works used crude and sexual humour. Cartwright explained
in his source that these plays were performed at the City of Dionysia and the Lenaea which were
major religious festivals. Over the course of the festivals, comedies were

Karl Marx and Marxism Essay
Karl Marx and Marxism
Karl Marx set the wheels of modern Communism and Socialism in motion with his writings in the late
nineteenth century. In collaboration with his friend, Heinrich Engels, he produced the The Communist
Manifesto, written in
1848. Many failed countries political and socio economic structures have been based on Marx s
theories, for example the USSR, East Germany etc. Many people believe that Marxism is not
applicable to today s society, as Karl Marx put forward his ideas not anticipating the type of society
we have today. The welfare state system has effectively nullified Marx s arguments, and made them
irrelevant. Karl Marx, born on May 5, 1818, died on March 14, 1883, was a German economist,

Because of this, the worker is alienated from the product of their labours, having no control over what
is made, or what becomes of it.
Karl Marx was very concerned with the class system in Prussia. He was an avid campaigner against a
system where one group of people flourish at the expense of another class, in this case the working.
He believed that all things should be equal, and that sharing should abound, with no one person
owning everything, all belonging to the state. Marx believed that once most workers recognized their
interests and became class conscious , the overthrow of capitalism would proceed as quickly and
democratically as the nature of the capitalist opposition allowed. The socialist society that would
emerge out of the revolution would develop the full productive potential inherited from capitalism
through democratic planning on behalf of social needs. The final goal, towards which socialist society
would constantly build, is the human one of abolishing alienation. Marx called the attainment of this
goal Communism.
Marxism in its various forms has affected the world greatly throughout time. Both world wars have
involved communist countries to a great extent.
Communism has gone wrong in many countries, with the state turning into an authoritarian one, with
a few people at the top abusing their power for their own personal gain, at the expense of the other
members of the public.
In conclusion, I believe that Marx s

Is Jude Real
Throughout the novel I believe Jude is most real when expressing his feelings for Luke. Not just
admitting them to himself moreover, letting Luke know how he really feels about him. At the
beginning of the novel Jude expresses his interest in Luke despite the fact that he is yet to accept him
as a Facebook friend (Reid,16). Being Facebook friends, is quite a big deal as it means you re cool
with that person. Furthermore, it gives you access to more personal moments in their lives and helps
you understand them better which is something Jude wanted very much so. As the novel progresses,

Jude s feelings and attractions towards Luke are certainly not hidden in the novel. Many know that
Jude has a crush on Luke and everyone was interested in it (Reid, 100). It was something people
talked about especially since Jude was very vocal and open about his feelings. It was also of interest to
people since Luke was in a relationship with Madison, who was not every fond of Jude s attraction to
her boyfriend. Finally towards the end of the novel, Jude takes the leap and asks Luke out (Reid, 147).
Jude does so in front of an audience and the response Luke gives him isn t what he was hoping for but
he does it anyways and puts his feelings all on the line. These moments made Jude seem real to me as
they are both brave and vulnerable and something that is certainly relatable. They are brave as Jude
demonstrated his determination to tell Luke how he truly felt. This certainly must not have been easy,
especially with Luke s reaction and if lack of interest throughout the novel. Nevertheless, Jude didn t

shows vulnerability as Jude risked a

Sidney Bechet Similar to Louis Armstrong a man named Sidney Bechet was a jazz musician who was
among the best of New Orleans Jazz. Bechet was born into a middle class Creole family that accepted
music as a huge part of their lives. Omar Bechet was Sidney s father; he was a flute player who played
music as a pass time. Sidney had four brothers who also played instruments, Leonard was one of his
brothers, Leonard played the trombone and also the clarinet. Sidney took on an interest in the clarinet
and Leonard passed on his clarinet to Sidney (The Bechet Society. 1997). When Sidney Bechet first
began playing clarinet, he would perform quadrilles, waltzes, and overall polite music meant for the
middle class. Bechet many times would ditch class when he was a child to become proficient at his
instrument and even started to play in local jazz groups. As Bechet grew older, he began playing more
syncopated pieces in brothels and dance halls. Bechet performed and impressed Bunk Johnson, a

Free Will And Fate In King Oedipus The King
Humanity:
Human beings have great knowledge capability and can demonstrate incredible powers of intellectual
penetration and awareness. However, it is unreliable and limited because even the smartest human

gods because they are the ones that created us and sort of path our journey on Earth. Disaster and error
can happen to anyone and human beings must have the best attitude toward life (Sparknotes).

Human has the capacity to exert free will even though there is fate. Human s personality will decide

of past blindness. Bad ones can be uncover by good choices. Oedipus chooses to accept it and live

where he accepts his choices and not his fate (mstultz72, 2009). He seems to admit his responsibility

The prophecy to Jocasta and Lauis is a fate. However, they make a free will decision to leave Oedipus
to die by giving him to the servant, but actually it is starting to fulfill the prophecy (Fate and Free Will
in Sophocles Oedipus the King). If they do not send Oedipus to death, he most likely will not kill
Lauis at the crossroads.
Furthermore, Oedipus chooses to be angry at Teiresias. He insults and bullies the seer into revealing
himself is the killer of Lauis causing the plague that affects the Theban citizens and living things. Also

The Physics of Bridges Essay
Physics of Bridges
The physics behind bridges is more complex than first meets the eye. To assure that a bridge is well
supported many concepts must be understood and used in the correct manner.
What is a bridge?
A bridge is a complex structure allowing passage across an obstacle: a structure that is built above and
across a river, road, or other obstacle to allow people or vehicles to cross it.
Bridge forms
There are four major forms of bridges: beam, truss, arch, and suspension.
A beam bridge, also known as a girder bridge, contains a horizontal beam supported by 2 piers at each
end. The beam pushes down on the piers, which weakens the overall bridge. These simplistic bridges
are the shortest of all types due to the lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Above the bridge, a structure of the same pattern is placed to support the bridge from above. At the
ends of each bridge, there are two similar trusses. This ensures that the bridge stays together, even
when large amounts of weights cross it. By allowing more weight to cross, these bridges can be longer
than beam bridges (they can be up to 500 meters). Forces are the focus of these bridges; each bar
exerts a pushing or pulling force without bending. These forces allows the lightweight bridge to stay
sturdy without collapsing as each steel bar pushes or pulls in the correct direction. Due to this stability,
these bridges are often found over places with unstable ground. Anything from cars to trains are able
to cross over these types of bridges without issues.
There are 4 major concepts in building a bridge that builders must pay attention to; span type, material
of the bridge, the placement of the travel surface in relation to the structure, and the form of the
bridge. When considering all of these concepts, builders can effectively construct a safe and sturdy
bridge.
Newton s 3rd Law
One of the most vital concepts in bridge construction is Newton s 3rd Law. This law states: For every
action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Taking a look at Eastlink
Eastlink was aimed to connect the eastern north south region; it connects the eastern freeway to
Frankston freeway. The land of the toll road was set aside by the government in 1960 to and in 2002
the project was officially accepted in policy.[ K. Wellman, Marcus Spiller, 2012. Urban Infrastructure:
Finance and Management]
By providing 39 Km of motorway, Eastlink allows citizens to travel along the eastern region and save
time by bypassing 45 traffic lights. It also carries a great amount of traffic; therefore, it creates more
jobs and economical boost. Eastlink created approximately 15 billion boost to the economy and 1400
employment opportunities were generated during its construction and operation.[ Greeman,

Reducing traffic congestion and attracting population to the eastern region were two key objectives of
the project. It was aimed to serve as the main transportation artery of the eastern zone.

If some one looks at the Gulshan lake, one may easily find that fish are dying, floating on top of the
lake because of high level of toxins. Fish meal therefore from polluted lakes and rivers poses a great
health risk for consumers. * Another concern is whether arsenic water is used for irrigation of
producing vegetables in the country. The vegetables may retain some trace of arsenic component in
fresh vegetables as well. This means that the best protection of consumers is to make informed choices
and lessen the chances of exposure to potential toxins by eating polluted fish and arsenic laced

TYPES OF FOOD THAT ARE OFTEN ADULTERARTED: * Basic food items on the market like

Ancient Greek Art
Throughout the Ancient Greek history the numerous works of art were produced by the ancient
Athenians that are still trending in twenty first century. Ancient Greeks demonstrated their valuable
artistic skills in various fields. Every piece that was created by Ancient Greeks was more than art, their
artistic skills were not only based on visual beautifulness, but on storytelling also. Ancient Greeks
created their works of art as bearers of meaning by giving too much detail to the form and to the
decorations to transmit messages. Type of art that I found quite distinctive was pottery. These clay
forms were more than just plates, vases and water jugs. They were like canvases for painting on such
everyday objects the artist told legends of warriors and gods. Greek pottery is a general term and
could be divided into many works of art. However, the specific pottery that will be used as an example
is Ancient Greek vase Lekythos. By analyzing different depicted images on these works of art and
understanding the painter s messages we could get a little taste of Ancient Greek culture and the
lifestyle of its people. Lekythos is a type of ancient Greek vessel that was used to store oil at bath,
gymnasiums and for funerary offerings. Lekythos has a narrow body with a handle at the neck of the
vessel. It seems as though the Athenians used a term to mean a small oil flask . The lekythos were
used to store all types of oil, but especially an olive oil. Olive oil had a special

Unilever United States Inc. and JR Motorsports: a successful sponsorship between a major company

This year a NASCAR team called JR Motorsports extended their relationship with Unilever United
States and this sponsorship will be now ongoing for the 10th year. Unilever United states is a multi

Now Unilever is a multi brand company that has over 400 different brands under them. Since Paul
Polman became the CEO of Unilever in 2009 their business plan was shifted from food brands to
beauty and hygiene products as they are more financially beneficial. The same year Unilever created a
sponsorship with a NASCAR team JR Motorsports for advertising purposes of their products and to
gain more publicity.
JR Motorsports is a team overrun by Dale Earnhardt Jr. who is one of the most popular drivers of
NASCAR and also a winner of 50 NASCAR sanctioned races. For the main benefits of the
sponsorship are the financial support from Unilever in exchange they help Unilever to advertise their
products of choice. With the financial support from Unilever JR Motorsports were able to grow as a
team and become a stable organization. For this reason they have remained loyal to Unilever for a
long period of time and help to advertise their products and bring their name in the world as well as
possible. Many companies compete over NASCAR brand promotion because NASCAR events host a

Animal Testing Is Unethical And Unnecessary
Animal testing is a secret most companies don t like to share. It is a global problem that needs to be
put to an end. The use of animal testing is used in medicine, cosmetics and for educational purposes
and it is immoral and unnecessary when we have advanced technologies that can replace these
harmful methods.

I have been able to find many helpful sources that have given me a substantial amount of information
related and in connection with my topic. Scholarly sources were harder to come by, but I was able to
find an abundance of non scholarly sources. I think this is due to the fact that this is a current issue and
although finding scholarly data is possible, non scholarly data presents more in depth and current
results that have either not yet been written about or that governmental associations try to hide from
the public. As I further my research, I hope to find more scholarly sources. I would like to broaden my
search terms and maybe try searching for sources in other databases using the keywords cruelty free as
well as further my search in discovering the full process of animal testing within medical science,
cosmetics and in educational facilities and what laws are in place for animal rights and laws pertaining
to experimenting with animals in different regions. I d also like to find a source that goes in more
detail about the alternatives to animal testing as well. This is something that I really need because it is
an important part of my thesis and paper. I was surprised by the massive numbers of animals that are
manipulated, abused and murdered per year. It was also surprising to me that animals used for testing
and experimentation are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. I feel as if I m just scratching the

Dbq New Imperialism
Many times throughout history imperialism has been practiced by various major super powers of the
world. For example, Western Europe decided they would extend their power after the Industrial
Revolution since they became so wealthy from it. They expanded their empires into Africa, India and
China. This is known as the New Imperialism. The desire for expansion was motivated by the hope of
economic growth and more power. There are five types of Imperialism and many positive and
negative views about them. One of the five types of Imperialism is giving economic and military aid.
This can be helpful to the colonies and the mother country. Another is a sphere of influence. This is an

When the colonies become ruled by a mother country this means the natives will most likely become
slaves (Document 2). The European countries will benefit from their labor. In Africa missionaries
came and the natives didn t like them (Document 4). The Africans thought of them very negatively
because they used religion as means to gain trust so they could conquest the natives land. Also, new
diseases were introduced to the natives by the Europeans. There were many more negative effects of
imperialism in Africa like their loss of dignity and their ability to lead themselves (Document 6). This
is because the Europeans taught them that their culture was inferior to theirs. In the political cartoon in
Document 7, it shows a cartoonist implying that Europeans work the natives in the colonies very hard
all for the money. They don t care about the natives well being. In India, the British took over and
many bad effects occurred as result to this. Like, Indian resources going straight to Britain. Also
British manufactured good replaced Indian local industry. Farmers were forced to grow cash crops like
tea and cotton and Indians went hungry. Also, top jobs were reserved for the British. This left many
Indians unemployed. The Indians were treated as inferiors in their own country. Many wars broke out
due to racism and which mother country wanted which colony. Like in Africa the Boers War in 1899
was a confrontation between the English and the Dutch when England wanted to take the Cape
Colony from the Dutch. Another war in Africa caused by Imperialism is the Zulu war. The Zulu war
was caused by British aggression. In China the Opium war was between Great Britain and China. It
began in 1839 as a conflict over the opium trade that ended in 1842 with the opening of five Chinese
ports to foreign merchants. But the worst effect of Imperialism is when the mother country tries to

The E Commerce Industry
Introduction With a steady increase of time, effort, and money being poured into digital marketing
over the past few years, one can only wonder what this means for the future of online exchange, or E
commerce. It is said that by 2016, the web will impact purchase decisions of sales totaling $2 trillion.
This is over half of all retail transactions (van Bommel et.al.). Digital strategy is no longer something
that can be overlooked, an extra tool for a company to take advantage of if they have the time, it is a
key marketing driver in our technologically dependent society. The E commerce industry as a whole
has only been possible since commercial internet use came about in 1991. Meaning, this is a young
industry which has seen rapid growth in such a short period of time. Because of this, there is a big
push to see how the purchase decision is impacted by the rise of E commerce. However, because this
is a young industry, there is much marketers still do not know about the online purchase decision
made by consumers. What does the future of e commerce look like? What do marketers need to know
in the creation and implementation of digital strategy? Where are the gaps in our current knowledge?
This is where my research begins.
Literature Review My research began with reading current postings, articles, and studies looking at all
different topics within the E commerce industry. After thorough analysis of these pieces of literature, I

him as heroic because he made a tough decision that most wouldn t make. Montag s decision to kill

an enhanced maternity package could see you hold onto valued members of staff. The management

The Theories Of Human Development
Theories of Human development are relevant and matter in the real world . In my clinical practice as a
psychologist in training, I have found human development theories to be very useful in
conceptualizing and understanding my client s distress. I used theoretical frameworks that are based
on theories of human development to guide my interventions in therapy. For example, as a brief
psychodynamic clinician, I look to Freud s theory of anxiety to understand how distress was
developed for my clients and then based on this information I created interventions that assist me in
dismantling my client s defenses in order to reduce their anxiety. It had also guided my behaviors and
actions in therapy so that I do not harm my clients.
Also, drawing from attachment theory, my role as a clinician is to assess the attachment patterns of my
client as well as see how these patterns continued to play out in therapy with me. In role is to provide
my clients with a new experience and a different way of relating and connecting to others. Given my
work, I believe that theories of human development matter and have a real application in the world.
For this essay, I will discuss why theories of human development are relevant and how they matter in
the real world.
Theories of human development are relevant at the individual level because it helped us make sense
and make meaning of our lives. As discussed in Bronfenbrenner s model, the child or the individual is
at the center of everything

Kinesthetic Communicator Research Paper
Kinesthetic Communicators. The last group is kinesthetic communicators who learn through
experiencing and through touch. Their interest is in how a message FEELS. They memorize by doing
or by walking through something. They will often talk more slowly and softly. Often it will take a
kinesthetic communicator more words to articulate what they are trying to say. When talking, their
eyes may look down, and they d like to touch others, or stand closer or huddle in groups. Their arms
tend to wrap around their body. Kinesthetic communicators are people who find it hard to sit still.

Peaceful Resistance Examples
Peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society as long as the person is willing to take on
the punishment. If you are resisting an unjust law, then in order for it to be effective no one must be
harmed and the resistance must be organized and controlled. Peaceful resistance to laws has been
more efficient in general in the history of the United States. If you look at the examples of Martin
Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X when they were struggling for equal rights, Dr. King was much more
successful in his movement because his movement was peaceful while Malcom X s movement was
violent. The United States government tends to make change a little easier when dealt with in a more

This particular example is very important to United States history and it is a perfect example on how
to peacefully resist a law. Alice Paul was an American suffragist and women s rights activist, and she
was one of the main leaders and strategists of the campaign for the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S.
Constitution which prohibits sex discrimination in the right to vote. She led women to attend peaceful
protests even though it drew a lot of hate. She even scheduled talks with the president to make change.
Alice eventually was even put in jail while peacefully resisting the discrimination of women in
elections, but this didn t stop her or her followers and eventually, along with her rival organization,
achieved their goal of passing the Nineteenth Amendment. She put her entire life into fighting for
what she believed in and by resisting in a peaceful manner she was able to achieve her goals. When a
law is unjust people need to step up and protest or just resist it in a peaceful manner. If no one acts
then wrongful laws will stay that way and if people act in a violent matter then things still may not
change due to the negative attention brought to the issue. People may argue that Resistance of laws,

Linda, a character from Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman is a selfish housewife. She pretends to

Linda is given nothing but motive for wanting her husband, Willy, to die because of the ways he

Their whole marriage has been a lie and Linda strives for a moment of peace. Too scared to reveal the
truth, Linda holds her motives in and allows Willy to trip until he falls.
Along with her motives, Linda attempts to keep any voice of reason away from Willy, showing that
her selfish desire of her well being is more important than his. In a discussion with her boys in Act I,
Linda says, I m I m ashamed to. How can I mention it to him? Every day I go down and take away
that little rubber pipe. But, when he comes home, I put it back where it was. How can I insult him like
that? (1184) Linda claims that acknowledging the truth about Willy s possible attempt to kill himself is
an insult. But, in order to develop a solution to any preoblem, one must start with the truth. Linda
merely wants to accommodate Willy s mental problems rather than get rid of them, causing him to
stay in his troubled state of mind. In another conversation in Act II, Linda tries to push Biff away from

Linda: You re not going near him. Get out of this house!

The Serpent-Vampire in Keats Lamia Essay
The Serpent Vampire in Keats s Lamia
The origin of the lamia myth lies in one of the love affairs of Zeus. The Olympian falls in love with
Lamia, queen of Libya, which was, for the Greeks, the whole continent of Africa. When Hera finds out
about their love, she destroys each of Lamia s children at birth. In her misery, Lamia withdraws to the
rocks and caves of the sea coast, where she preys on other women s children, eating them and sucking
their blood. To recompense his mistress, Zeus gives her the power of shape shifting. Perhaps as a
reflection of this versatility, the monstrous race of lamiae of Africa are composite beings, with the
heads and breasts of women, but the bodies of serpents. In this earliest incarnation, Lamia is ... Show

Immortal temptresses hold out that same promise of heightened sexual experience, but they add to that
the lure of an escape from the ordinary world into a dream land of perpetual youth and eternal life.
They can raise man above his mortal station. In this category we can place the Homeric goddess
Kalypso. She has tried to secure Odysseus for herself by giving him eternal youth and immortality. As
she complains to Hermes, who has come with the gods command to send Odysseus home, all her
effort has gone unrewarded:
I fed him, loved him, sang that he should not die
nor grow old, ever, in all the days to come. (Odyssey V, 142 43)
No one is grateful to such a benefactress, least of all the hero himself, though we have to remember
that he has spent seven unaging years in her earthly paradise. Her inability to win his heart intensifies
her anger at the other gods. Whatever the gods have done for their mortal beloveds, they have not
loved as she has, devotedly, constantly.
Odysseus refuses Kalypso s immortality because he glories in the very restrictions imposed by
mortality. His love for his

A Brief Note On Cyberbullying And Its Effects On Society

Cyberbullying
Three hundred likes on Instagram. A hundred retweets on Twitter. Ten million views on YouTube.
These are some common social media networks in our society used by all ages and sadly valued more
than they should be. The growth of technology use in young adults, mostly teenagers, has improved
extensively over the past few years resulting in new problems. Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied
online. 1 in 4 has had it happen more than once (www.DoSomething.org). Before internet bullying
was to the extent of picking on each other, name calling or fist fights, Cyberbullying takes bullying to
another level. This topic is of huge controversy in schools across the nation, political debates, the
president of the United States has even given speeches on it. Many people believe cyberbullying has
no long term affect on victims yet cyberbullying is number three on the charts for cause of deaths
among teenagers and adolescents (BullyingStatistics.org). Social Media can give teenagers and young
adults confidence that may not always be used in the best way. They can hide behind a screen and say
hurtful things they d never have the audacity to say to a person face to face because they re scared to.
This is a huge problem and needs to be stopped completely.

Leprosy was thought to be caused by sin and gave those that it afflicted a horrifying appearance.
Lepers were only able to approach a town at night and they needed to ring a bell to warn others of
their presence. Lepers were major outcasts of Italian society, and even Francis himself was not fond of
lepers in his youth, but he learned to love them. His faith in God was so strong that when he
encountered a leper near Assisi, He leapt from his horse and ran to embrace him. When the leper
stretched forth his hand as though to receive an alms, he kissed it, and then put money therein. The
thought of kissing a leper was horrifying at the time, but this shows how Francis loved all. Throughout
his life he would continually visit the dwellings of lepers and provide them with what little he had. He
also would kiss both their hands and faces as well as bathe their feet, bind their sores, and kiss their
wounds. Francis ran counter to the norms of society as he expressed no prejudices against the lepers.
While many thought of outcasts and beggars as a nuisance Francis believed that, The one who begs

  • 2. Euthyphro Dialogue Analysis In the dialogue Euthyphro, Plato introduces the reader to the interlocutor Euthyphro, a dogmatically religious man who claimed to have great knowledge of the gods. Euthyphro used his understanding of pious and impious as an excuse to indict his father on murder charges. Socrates was interested in Euthyphro s unshakable religious convictions but by using the Socratic method the reader slowly learns that Euthyphro has not truly delved into himself and examined his strong held beliefs. Plato holds Euthyphro up to the reader as an example and a warning, that even if one believes they are living a righteous life, if they never stop and look within themselves and self examine their beliefs one can do irreparable harm to not only their soul but to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates explained that the gods never explicitly stated what was right and wrong. Even when they claimed to comment on just acts, they simple defined what they did as just because they believed it was so. Socrates tried to explain to Euthyphro that discussing what the gods found to be just or virtuous was a good start on the journey of self discovery but it wasn t the end of it. Euthyphro had to continue on this journey and look within himself to seek and find the answers for himself. By taking the time to work on himself internally and seek the answers to these questions and not just rely on what gods say to be true, he would be on the path to living a life of areté. If Euthyphro did this, he would no longer be in conflict with the world around him but in harmony with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Housing Market Crash Literature Review: 2007, that was the year that everyone knew the world was about to change. Many analysts studying the markets knew that this day would come to surface. Among the citizens, few actually knew the problems the housing market was having while many of them just noticed that they were now able to purchase their dream home. Many Americans that knew that background however, were not aware of what exactly sparked this issue, nor what was in store for them (Natl. GPO .2) At the time, many citizens were not aware of what was going on in the housing market. The financial crisis would impact several people for many years to come (Yanis.6). While many researchers may argue that large financial issues in the United States have already ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While this action may be a short term cost to a long term solution, the generation paying the price will be Generation Y and the Millennial. One major factor that comes with job market regulation is the hike of minimum wage in order to meet the rising costs of every day goods. One of the only things that economists agree on is that minimum wage kills jobs (Herlot, 783). This is a current issue that is playing out in the United States economy today. The Bush and the Obama Administration factors on the job market (Sanchez, Kopp, Sanzari, 243) has already had a major role in job losses throughout the United States. There is an increasing gap in the job market between citizens with minimal education needing minimum wage increases in order to obtain basic needs and educated individuals who can t seem to find a job. With the current financial situation in mind, the amount post grad individuals with significant amount of dept. is a problem. With the growth rate of the country s debt., unemployment may see a significant increase in the next ten years (Reich, 174). Debt is currently increasing not only due to the regulations of the job market, but also with the policies that currently exist. Recent policies such as Medicare for all, and School Vouchers according to family income (Reich, 06), are costing the government millions with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Mandatory Minimum Sentencing Laws Abstract Ben Whishaw once said, The criminal justice system, like any system designed by human beings, clearly has its flaws. For many years, the criminal justice system has been criticized for its many problems and errors; one in particular that caught my attention was the mandatory minimum sentencing laws. These laws basically set minimum sentences for certain crimes that judges cannot lower, even for extenuating circumstances. The most common of these laws deal with drug offenses and set mandatory minimum sentences for possession of a drug over a certain amount. Sentencing procedures can vary from jurisdiction to Jurisdiction. Most of these laws are ineffective and causes unnecessary jail overcrowding. Over the years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, there was a case back in 2013 in Alabama where a 76 year old man, Lee Carroll Brooker, was convicted of drug trafficking last year, and a judge sentenced him to life without parole because of past robbery convictions in Florida. His son was also convicted. ( Roy Moore: Life Sentence for Drug Violation Shows grave Flaw in Sentencing. AL.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 04 Dec. 2015.) Brooker lived with his son in Houston County, and court documents show police found a marijuana growing operation there during a search in 2013. Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore released a statement on this case as the Supreme Court refused to overturn the case. I mean really, this is just crazy how a petty drug offense can get a man life in prison and some other fool is let off easy, after committing an armed robbery. The problem with LSD specifically is that it comes in many forms. For instance, if a person is holding 1 hit of liquid LSD that is placed on a strawberry can get up to 10 years in jail whereas another person with 100 hits of acid in paper form may not even get a mandatory sentence if it weighs under a gram. The whole point behind the legislation comes in response to the American public s desire to crack down on those who sell drugs. According to The USCC (U.S. Sentencing Commission), fifty five percent of all federal drug defendants are low level offenders, such as mules or street dealers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Senior Chief Johnson was the Leading Chief of Operation Department. Our Sailors shared living spaces. The Executive Officer inspected the living spaces each day. During several inspections, he found that Sailors used shower curtain clips to hold the flow of water open. The executive officer asked Senior Chief Johnson to fix the problem. • 6. Kant Disinterestedness Reflective judgement requires taking into account Kant s four factors of beauty: quality, necessity, universality, and purposiveness. When applying judgement to an object, a person must first inspect the quality of the object. Whether or not an object is able to instill the feeling of pleasure or displeasure on the observer. However, the pleasure one acquires from an object must not be limited to the observer s personal desires. That is, he must not secretly crave the objects. By suppressing one s desire for an object, the observer perverts his judgement of the object. Consequently, in the section entitled Second Moment , Kant believes that a person judges beauty through the unbiased concept of disinterestedness. Kant refers to disinterestedness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant believes that, when we admire an object, we do so because we are attracted to why we find the object stimulating. The problem lies in the fact that we cannot locate the source of the object s purpose. That is to say, the object draws the observer to it, stimulates the senses, and fills the observer with a yearning to inquire more about the object. For Kant, in order for an object to be beautiful, we must recognize that the object has a purpose. However, we cannot limit the purpose of the object based on its utility. These four factors are what Kant believes validates his theory that judgements of beauty are both subjective and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I made a call from my cell phone while waiting my turn in line to order. I sat behind the cars and put Clinette on the speaker system that blasted her voice through the cab of my truck. Her sexy voice answered. Hello, Clinette speaking. I smiled at her tempting tone. Damn, Clinette you make it sound like you knew I was calling. Clinette laughed. Don t flatter yourself Walker. Her voice spoke volumes about what she thought about her job talking to someone else in the background. I took in her tone and quickly judged her. Damn, bitch! What is that all about? I asked her through the speaker. Look, are you going order or what? She snapped. All I want is a strawberry frosty and two double bacon cheeseburgers I have to go back to work if you don t mind! Your total is 3.58 cents. I took out a 10.00 dollar bill and drove up to the window. I looked up into the cashier s booth. To my surprise, an overweight, bad built, big, black and ugly as ever but however dressed down to her Wendy s socks, stood there mean mugging me with her hand out with case of I m having a bad day because I chose this job to work at, looking ass. I paid the attendant the ten dollar bill that was stuffed in the ashtray full of smoked pre Mo roaches for her skank ass. I laughed under my breath tossing the remains of the smoked marijuana cocaine laced cigarettes out of the widow before driving up to the pay window. Here you go baby. • 9. Walt Disney And Mary Blair Before a film is created, various designers work from a script to capture the exact atmosphere and tone a film needs. There are hundreds, even thousands of artwork created behind a film while only a few will ever meet the screen. Despite that, the artwork serves another purpose; the artwork encourages and directs storyboard artists, animators, colorists, etc. to truly finish a film. One of those designers, those artists, according to John Canemaker, helped Walt Disney move into a critical phase of his own artistic journey. That artist was none other than the lovely Mary Blair. Her modernist style and talent for pairing colors instantly became an iconic Disney trait that would inspire later films. Mary Robinson Blair grew up during the Great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the vacation, the group would paint their observations along the streets of many cities and villages. It was then, that Walt Disney truly fell for Mary Blair s art style and coloring skills. Walt had described her work as translating real life observations into pure distillations of color and form, while Mary recalled he had also stated Walt said that I knew about colors he had never heard of before. Disney insisted Blair to work for him again, giving her projects like Penelope the Time Traveller. Penelope the Time Traveller was a short animated film buried under time, but was an important project to Blair, as working on it allowed her style to become flatter, bolder, and more modernist. During this time, 95% of Disney footage was under government contract for training and propaganda films, so Disney appointed Mary Blair as art director for the animated shorts to make them less gloomy. Blair would then be appointed to doing concept art for Cinderella, in which her artwork would become the basis for the film s overall color scheme. Other than that, a lot of animators found it hard to work with Mary Blair s art style due to its flatness, despite Walt Disney s personal wish to have her artwork more present in his films , while animators required a more realistic style to work with. Mary Blair s art style would become more prominent in her next film, Alice in Wonderland. The more creative, spontaneous tone of Alice in Wonderland was a perfect match for Mary Blair. Her art style can be seen in the plants, patterns, color, and exaggerated silhouettes of the Alice in Wonderland characters, especially during the Card Match scene within the movie. Her final film would be Peter Pan, which also allowed Blair to get playful with illustrating the pixies, pirates, and mermaids within the films. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before analyzing my own family s Thanksgiving celebration, I thought that our type of festivities were normal to most families. While some of the traditions of the holiday say something about our society as a whole, I was also able to view the implicit meanings of my family s specific actions. This analysis made me realize that while our society is attempting to move forward and break norms, they are still heavily present within our everyday subconscious actions. Due to me being the youngest, I felt as though I was less intellectual and powerful than them. This depicts how power and dominance allows for hierarchy, even within families. The conversations that I engaged in were also less intellectually stimulating, with my family mostly asking about how college was, rather than my opinions on deeper matters. This shows that even their treatment of me as the youngest reiterates the implicit hierarchical structure. The different treatment between older members of my family and me is similar to George Gmelch s piece, Birthdays, Basketball, and Breaking Bread: Negotiating with Class in Contemporary Black America. The people of higher economic and social status in this piece treat their friends of lower status and higher status differently, similar to how my family treats members of different ages. • 12. Greek Theatre And Modern Theatre Without a doubt, the Greek theatre remains one of the most recognized and distinctive works in the world. While we associate many features of modern theatre with their Greek counterparts, ancient theatre was a very different animal. You will be surprised at how much Ancient Greece has influenced us today. Without such topics such as drama, democracy and the Olympics coming from Ancient Greece, sport would not be important. Drama was a huge part of ancient Greece. Theatre then became extremely popular performed everywhere including festivals. Greek Tragedy and Comedy was significantly important as not only did it provide entertainment for the ancient Greeks, but has continued to influence society today, inspiring us to create similar styles of theatre into contemporary plays today. Within this essay I hope to show how these ancient plays have transitioned into our modern theatre, and how directors today have morphed them into relevant and relatable productions. M Cartwright wrote sources which provides us with information on both Greek Comedy and Tragedy. In the 6th century BCE, Greek tragedy played an important and influential role in theatre. The popular form of drama was performed all over Greece. The most well known playwrights have come from Greek tragedy such as Sophocles, and Euripides whose plays remained recognised, and continued to be performed for years after their original premiere. Comedy was also a popular type of theatre in the late 6th century. The most famous playwrights of the genre were Aristophanes and Menander and their works, and those of their contemporaries, poked fun at politicians, philosophers, and fellow artists. (Cartwright 2017). The source informed me the first appearance of Comedy, pottery in the 6th century, used for decoration, often portrayed actors dressed as horses, satyrs, and dancers in exaggerated costumes. (Cartwright 2017). Poetry was also another early source of comedy. Archilochus and Hipponax were Greek poets whose satyr works used crude and sexual humour. Cartwright explained in his source that these plays were performed at the City of Dionysia and the Lenaea which were major religious festivals. Over the course of the festivals, comedies were ... In collaboration with his friend, Heinrich Engels, he produced the The Communist Manifesto, written in 1848. Many failed countries political and socio economic structures have been based on Marx s theories, for example the USSR, East Germany etc. Many people believe that Marxism is not applicable to today s society, as Karl Marx put forward his ideas not anticipating the type of society we have today. Karl Marx was very concerned with the class system in Prussia. He was an avid campaigner against a system where one group of people flourish at the expense of another class, in this case the working. He believed that all things should be equal, and that sharing should abound, with no one person owning everything, all belonging to the state. Marx believed that once most workers recognized their interests and became class conscious , the overthrow of capitalism would proceed as quickly and democratically as the nature of the capitalist opposition allowed. The socialist society that would emerge out of the revolution would develop the full productive potential inherited from capitalism through democratic planning on behalf of social needs. The final goal, towards which socialist society would constantly build, is the human one of abolishing alienation. Marx called the attainment of this goal Communism. Marxism in its various forms has affected the world greatly throughout time. Both world wars have involved communist countries to a great extent. • 17. The Physics of Bridges Essay Physics of Bridges The physics behind bridges is more complex than first meets the eye. To assure that a bridge is well supported many concepts must be understood and used in the correct manner. What is a bridge? A bridge is a complex structure allowing passage across an obstacle: a structure that is built above and across a river, road, or other obstacle to allow people or vehicles to cross it. Bridge forms There are four major forms of bridges: beam, truss, arch, and suspension. A beam bridge, also known as a girder bridge, contains a horizontal beam supported by 2 piers at each end. The beam pushes down on the piers, which weakens the overall bridge. These simplistic bridges are the shortest of all types due to the lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Above the bridge, a structure of the same pattern is placed to support the bridge from above. At the ends of each bridge, there are two similar trusses. This ensures that the bridge stays together, even when large amounts of weights cross it. By allowing more weight to cross, these bridges can be longer than beam bridges (they can be up to 500 meters). Forces are the focus of these bridges; each bar exerts a pushing or pulling force without bending. These forces allows the lightweight bridge to stay sturdy without collapsing as each steel bar pushes or pulls in the correct direction. Due to this stability, these bridges are often found over places with unstable ground. Anything from cars to trains are able to cross over these types of bridges without issues. There are 4 major concepts in building a bridge that builders must pay attention to; span type, material of the bridge, the placement of the travel surface in relation to the structure, and the form of the bridge. When considering all of these concepts, builders can effectively construct a safe and sturdy bridge. Newton s 3rd Law One of the most vital concepts in bridge construction is Newton s 3rd Law. Ancient Greeks demonstrated their valuable artistic skills in various fields. Every piece that was created by Ancient Greeks was more than art, their artistic skills were not only based on visual beautifulness, but on storytelling also. Ancient Greeks created their works of art as bearers of meaning by giving too much detail to the form and to the decorations to transmit messages. • 29. The Theories Of Human Development Theories of Human development are relevant and matter in the real world . In my clinical practice as a psychologist in training, I have found human development theories to be very useful in conceptualizing and understanding my client s distress. I used theoretical frameworks that are based on theories of human development to guide my interventions in therapy. For example, as a brief psychodynamic clinician, I look to Freud s theory of anxiety to understand how distress was developed for my clients and then based on this information I created interventions that assist me in dismantling my client s defenses in order to reduce their anxiety. It had also guided my behaviors and actions in therapy so that I do not harm my clients. Also, drawing from attachment theory, my role as a clinician is to assess the attachment patterns of my client as well as see how these patterns continued to play out in therapy with me. In role is to provide my clients with a new experience and a different way of relating and connecting to others. Given my work, I believe that theories of human development matter and have a real application in the world. For this essay, I will discuss why theories of human development are relevant and how they matter in the real world. Theories of human development are relevant at the individual level because it helped us make sense and make meaning of our lives. As discussed in Bronfenbrenner s model, the child or the individual is at the center of everything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Kinesthetic Communicator Research Paper Kinesthetic Communicators. The last group is kinesthetic communicators who learn through experiencing and through touch. Their interest is in how a message FEELS. They memorize by doing or by walking through something. They will often talk more slowly and softly. Often it will take a kinesthetic communicator more words to articulate what they are trying to say. When talking, their eyes may look down, and they d like to touch others, or stand closer or huddle in groups. Their arms tend to wrap around their body. Kinesthetic communicators are people who find it hard to sit still. They love to experiment, to be challenged, to get their hands dirty. They are often high energy folks who have engaged in sport, or those chirpy people who are surrounded by others. Since they re emotional and caring, it s hard for them to say no when asked to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People who have a kinesthetic learning style often struggle through lectures and conferences. They can t sit still for long and make the connection to what they re listening or observing. Even if you use visual aids, they ll find it hard to stay engaged. They need to get up and get involved in the action for it to sink into their memory. Even though they seemed to take their time to respond, they re quick to react. Thus, if you get into an emergency, it s good to have a kinesthetic learner around, with sharp reflexes and a penchant for getting involved. They might say something like I know how you feel or ohhhh, I can handle that or that feels just about right (Constanstine, 2013). When communicating with a kinesthetic receiver, speak more slowly, and use storytelling and personal experiences to connect. Do not shout or embarrass them in any way because they will get hurt and won t engaged anymore. A touch such as a pat on the back works well for kinesthetic communicators. • 31. Peaceful Resistance Examples Peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society as long as the person is willing to take on the punishment. If you are resisting an unjust law, then in order for it to be effective no one must be harmed and the resistance must be organized and controlled. Peaceful resistance to laws has been more efficient in general in the history of the United States. If you look at the examples of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X when they were struggling for equal rights, Dr. King was much more successful in his movement because his movement was peaceful while Malcom X s movement was violent. The United States government tends to make change a little easier when dealt with in a more peaceful and diplomatic matter. Peaceful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This particular example is very important to United States history and it is a perfect example on how to peacefully resist a law. Alice Paul was an American suffragist and women s rights activist, and she was one of the main leaders and strategists of the campaign for the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which prohibits sex discrimination in the right to vote. She led women to attend peaceful protests even though it drew a lot of hate. She even scheduled talks with the president to make change. Alice eventually was even put in jail while peacefully resisting the discrimination of women in elections, but this didn t stop her or her followers and eventually, along with her rival organization, achieved their goal of passing the Nineteenth Amendment. She put her entire life into fighting for what she believed in and by resisting in a peaceful manner she was able to achieve her goals. When a law is unjust people need to step up and protest or just resist it in a peaceful manner. If no one acts then wrongful laws will stay that way and if people act in a violent matter then things still may not change due to the negative attention brought to the issue. This assignment also gave me an opportunity to present any open ended goal I hoped to accomplish. In the goal setting paper, I stated brainstorming allowed me to pick a topic I was comfortable sharing in front of my peers and I used this method to organize my key points. She pretends to care about her husband, but in reality, prefers that he kill himself so that she can live an easier life. Linda is given nothing but motive for wanting her husband, Willy, to die because of the ways he mistreats her. For example, during a family conversation in Act I, Linda, trying to put in a few words, says, Maybe things are beginning to change , with Willy coming in right after her, (wildly enthused, to Linda)Stop interrupting!... In a discussion with her boys in Act I, Linda says, I m I m ashamed to. How can I mention it to him? Every day I go down and take away that little rubber pipe. But, when he comes home, I put it back where it was. How can I insult him like that? (1184) Linda claims that acknowledging the truth about Willy s possible attempt to kill himself is an insult. But, in order to develop a solution to any preoblem, one must start with the truth. Linda merely wants to accommodate Willy s mental problems rather than get rid of them, causing him to stay in his troubled state of mind. • 34. The Serpent-Vampire in Keats Lamia Essay The Serpent Vampire in Keats s Lamia The origin of the lamia myth lies in one of the love affairs of Zeus. The Olympian falls in love with Lamia, queen of Libya, which was, for the Greeks, the whole continent of Africa. When Hera finds out about their love, she destroys each of Lamia s children at birth. In her misery, Lamia withdraws to the rocks and caves of the sea coast, where she preys on other women s children, eating them and sucking their blood. To recompense his mistress, Zeus gives her the power of shape shifting. Perhaps as a reflection of this versatility, the monstrous race of lamiae of Africa are composite beings, with the heads and breasts of women, but the bodies of serpents. Immortal temptresses hold out that same promise of heightened sexual experience, but they add to that the lure of an escape from the ordinary world into a dream land of perpetual youth and eternal life. They can raise man above his mortal station. In this category we can place the Homeric goddess Kalypso. She has tried to secure Odysseus for herself by giving him eternal youth and immortality. As she complains to Hermes, who has come with the gods command to send Odysseus home, all her effort has gone unrewarded: I fed him, loved him, sang that he should not die nor grow old, ever, in all the days to come. (Odyssey V, 142 43) No one is grateful to such a benefactress, least of all the hero himself, though we have to remember that he has spent seven unaging years in her earthly paradise. Her inability to win his heart intensifies her anger at the other gods. Whatever the gods have done for their mortal beloveds, they have not loved as she has, devotedly, constantly. • 35. A Brief Note On Cyberbullying And Its Effects On Society Brandon Hughes Professor Moore English 101 9 March 2016 Cyberbullying Three hundred likes on Instagram. A hundred retweets on Twitter. Ten million views on YouTube. These are some common social media networks in our society used by all ages and sadly valued more than they should be. The growth of technology use in young adults, mostly teenagers, has improved extensively over the past few years resulting in new problems. Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied online. 1 in 4 has had it happen more than once (www.DoSomething.org). Before internet bullying was to the extent of picking on each other, name calling or fist fights, Cyberbullying takes bullying to another level. This topic is of huge controversy in schools across the nation, political debates, the president of the United States has even given speeches on it. Many people believe cyberbullying has no long term affect on victims yet cyberbullying is number three on the charts for cause of deaths among teenagers and adolescents (BullyingStatistics.org). Initially, Francis undertaking of replicating the life of Jesus over a millennium removed from his time on Earth was not taken well by Italian society and many considered him to be a madman. Lepers were only able to approach a town at night and they needed to ring a bell to warn others of their presence. Lepers were major outcasts of Italian society, and even Francis himself was not fond of lepers in his youth, but he learned to love them. His faith in God was so strong that when he encountered a leper near Assisi, He leapt from his horse and ran to embrace him. When the leper stretched forth his hand as though to receive an alms, he kissed it, and then put money therein. The thought of kissing a leper was horrifying at the time, but this shows how Francis loved all. Throughout his life he would continually visit the dwellings of lepers and provide them with what little he had. He also would kiss both their hands and faces as well as bathe their feet, bind their sores, and kiss their wounds. Francis ran counter to the norms of society as he expressed no prejudices against the lepers. While many thought of outcasts and beggars as a nuisance Francis believed that, The one who begs for the love of God must be, on the contrary, at ease and joyful, for he is claiming only what is his due.
