Overall e commerce growth (7%) in Indonesia during 2023 are
slower than 2022. The e-commerce slow growth caused by huge
discount by most merchant
Bodypack can achieve e-commerce growth at 27.9%. Mostly
Contributed from Marketplace Shopee & Tokopedia.
For long term, the price war that caused by the discount event
would affect the customer behaviour as a whole and endangered
the probability for the brand.

Domination
Most of Indonesia ecommerce transaction comes from Shopee &
Tokopedia marketplaces (also happened at Bodypack e-comm).
During 2023 there are some significant increase on Service or
Commision Fee on some Marketplace, also the promo in the
marketplace are fewer than previous year. These makes more
than half people and brand are begin to move away from
Marketplace (around 52.4%)- Sleekflow.
Since then many brand begin to rethinking their digital strategy
and switch focusing on build their own D2C Digital Ecosystem, in
order to increase the profitability and have their own control on
their data (transactions, customer profile and customer
behaviour).
Especially since at the start of 2023, many of Marketplace are
strictly prohibited the brand can access their own customer data,
due to Bjorka Data Scandal.

focus on their D2C
Since the increasing of service or commission fee from the
Marketplace, then many brands begin to rethinking their digital
strategy and switch focusing on build their own D2C (Direct to
Customer) Digital Ecosystem.
In order to increase the profitability and have their own control
on their data (transactions, customer profile and customer
behaviour).
Especially since at the start of 2023, many of Marketplace are
strictly prohibited the brand to access their own customer data,
due to Data Breach and New Rules and Regulation about
Customer Data (GDPR)
Therefore focusing build D2C ecosystem become a trend amongst
the brand in order to regain their customer data (profile and
behaviour). So brands can more understand and know customer
needs. Also from the commercial perspective, brand can build
profitability in the long run. D2C become a key role for the future
investment.

inefficient and Brand must utilize
their own Customer Data
Google is set to phase out third-party cookies by late 2023. Apple
has already blocked many third-party cookies with updates to its
Intelligent Tracking Prevention feature (ITP).
83% of advertisers believe the end of third-party cookies and
Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) will have a moderate to
significant impact on their marketing efforts. 69% believe it will
have a greater impact than the California Consumer Privacy Act
(CCPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe.
