Van Gogh And Gauguin
The discussion that took place during week three focused broadly on comparing the differences in
vision, personality and ideas of the primitive between Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. These
differences were investigated through their working relationship, as shown by their letters of
correspondence, and the art each artist produced during this time. The group discussed comparisons
between Van Gogh s plan and almost obsession with making the Studio of the South work and
Gauguin s wanderlust that kept him moving. The ideal studio of both Gauguin and Van Gogh opened
up discussion further to what aspects of the primitive each painter was influenced by in their
attempted creation of a utopian working space. The readings from Childs and the ... Show more

A Discussion again focused on comparing the two saying how the preference of Brittany versus Arles
says much about how their creative process differed. Gauguin s rarely depicts his subject matter with
descriptive accuracy instead he takes a place and abstracts the savage and primitive quality that he is
searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its landscape but allows him to
abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to their Catholic devotion and less
modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888, Gauguin describes the figures in Vision
After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and superstitious simplicity saying that the people
are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion, and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a
calm sunny place in nature that can act as a monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that,
Arles was caught somewhere between a French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue
for Gauguin who didn t want any of that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of
civilization in his tropical landscapes. While Van Gogh does feature aspects of modernity in his
painting later

Analysis Of To This Day By Shane Koyczan
Shane Koyczan is known in the world as an award winning spoken word poet. He was born in
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Soon after birth he went to live with his grandparents in Penticton,
British Columbia. Shane s childhood was extremely hard and painful. He had to deal with malicious
bullying, so severe that it led to him suffering depression. He believed that he could never find
happiness or love. He carried the effects of the mental, emotional, and physical abuse he endured
throughout his childhood into his adult life. Information about Shane Koyczan s life was provided by
the site called, The Poetry Foundation . When Shane graduated at Okanagan College, he started to
explore poetry and speaking. He wanted to send a message to the world about the harm social injustice
can cause. He also wanted to inspire and help people who are going through difficult times by sharing
his experiences. As Shane started to write poems, his theme would be on social injustice, love,
happiness, and ideas. He would use the painful childhood memories and incorporate poetic elements
such as metaphor and rhyme. He uses these elements in one of his poems called, To This Day . A
spoken word poem that tells the story of shane s childhood. Three lines read, To this day he is a stick
of TNT lit from both ends, Could describe in detail how the sky bends, in the moments before it s

The Mining Of Mining Industry
Mining is an essential need for humans to access coal which produce rich resource to generate
electricity. Mining comes as simplistic image of just people in hard hats with a pickaxe repeatedly
pounding onto rocks until they gather desired materials. However, mining requires a trade cost in
order to get reliable energy resource, as coal mining influences and infatuated the environment around
it. In particular, surface mines, also known as strip mines, is a practice mining commonly used to
access coal by removing layers of overlying soil and rock. Additionally, strip mining requires heavy
used of machines, such as bulldozers, power shovels, and trucks in order to extract the resources from
the ground. Surface mining is arguably the most effective type of mining, as 60 percent of the world s
materialistic coal comes from the practice of this type of mining. Thus tactics of surface mining at
such fast and furious pace is in not an efficient method for gathering resources, and will result in
pollution and negligent on the land, forests and soil, and water that environment provides naturally.
Surface mining, also known as strip mining, is a mining practice defined as very shallow ore seam is
first exposed by removing all of the overlying soil and rock, otherwise known as the overburden. The
ore is then excavated and removed from the surface. (Gates Blauvelt, Mining and Pollution)
Alternatively, surface mining utilizes and removes the soil in order to yield high amounts of

Is Brutus Good Or Bad
Brutus is a very popular figure in Rome which means he could do things that look bad if others do but
he could do and look virtuous. Casca joins Cassius and some other noble Romans in a plan to execute
Caesar. Cassius tells Cinna to take a paper and put it on the judge s chair where Brutus sits so he will
find it, and to throw another paper into his window and to attach another with wax to the statue of
Brutus s ancestor. Only then to return to Pompey s theater, where Cinna will find them. Cassius and
Casca go see Brutus at his house before sunrise. Since the people love Brutus he could convince some
Romans to do quest for him but if the people find out that Brutus does something bad they could lose
some respect for him. Cassius says, Him

Comparisons and Contrasts of Windows Ce, Windows Xp, and...
Introduction There has been an ongoing battle in recent years within the technology arena between the
relative merits of Microsoft s Windows versus the open source platforms, Linux being one of them.
Typically, discussions center around desktops or servers but an area often overlooked is embedded
systems. Examples of such systems are industrial machines, automobiles, medical equipment, and
specialized devices. With the growing ubiquity of smart devices, the device arena offers action every
bit as intense (LinuxDevices). Both Windows and Linux offer solutions for specialized areas that
include devices such as PDAs or handhelds, mobile phones, audio/video applications, even robots.

XP Pro x64: Windows XP Professional x64 (XP Pro x64) is XP Pro on steroids. XP x64 is based on
Windows Server 2003 and supports AMD s AMD64 64 bit extension of the Intel IA 32 architecture
and was released on April 25, 2005 (Wikipedia). One enticing feature of XP Pro x64 is its huge
memory support increase. XP Pro x64 is a 64 bit system rather than the standard 32 bit system of XP
Pro. This 64 bit architecture increases RAM memory limits from 4 gigabytes (GB) to 128 GB and
increases virtual memory from 4 GB to 16 terabytes (TB). System cache also makes a huge jump from
1 GB to 1 TB. On paper, this would mean the ability to accomplish tasks unheard of with 32 bit
system, if not for some serious downsides. In some real world tests, the promise has not lived up to the
hype, at least not yet. In CNET tests, XP Pro x64 had in fact lower bench tests when compared to XP
Pro (32bit). Furthermore, according to users there exist many compatibility issues due to lack of
suitable drivers as older 32 bit drivers and services are not supported by 64 bit

Eniac Research Paper
History or Social Computing Essay
The ENIAC was the first computer to ever work successfully. ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical
Integrator and Computer but for now we will call it ENIAC. The ENIAC s design and construction
was funded by the United States Army and the total cost was around $487,000. The basic machine
cycle was 200 microseconds or 5,000 cycles per second for operations on the 10 digit numbers. In one
of these cycles, ENIAC could write a number to a register, read a number from a register, or
add/subtract two numbers, several tubes burned out almost every day, leaving it nonfunctional about
half the time. Special high reliability tubes were not available until 1948. Most of these failures
occurred during the warm up and cool down periods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, instead of the stored program computers that exist today, ENIAC was just a large collection
of arithmetic machines, which had programs hard coded into the machines with function tables that
each contained 1200 ten way switches. A number of improvements were made to ENIAC after 1948,
including a primitive read only stored programming mechanism using the Function Tables as program
ROM. Early in 1952, a high speed shifter was added, which improved the speed for shifting by a
factor of five. In July 1953, a 100 word expansion core memory was added to the system, using binary
coded decimal, excess 3 number representation. To support this expansion memory, ENIAC was
equipped with a new Function Table selector, a memory address selector, pulse shaping circuits, and
three new orders were added to the programming

Contributions Of John Adams
On October 30, 1735, John Adams was born to John Adams, Sr. and Susanna Boylston Adams, in
Braintree (or what is now called: Quincy), Massachusetts. He was direct descendant of Henry Adams,
on his father s side, and John Alden, on his mother s side, both of whom were Pilgrims on the
Mayflower in 1638 (Biography.com). Attending a local school during his primary education, going to
Harvard College with a scholarship, at age sixteen, graduating at age twenty, Adams was well
prepared for his future political career and involvement in American Independence. Through his
political career, his writings, and his diplomatic skills, John Adams greatly contributed to the
formation of the United States government, before, during, and after the Revolutionary War.
John Adam studied law under James Putnam and by 1758 had become one of the most well known,
respected attorneys in Massachusetts (Lossing, 28). Accordingly, in 1772, he was elected to the
Massachusetts Legislature, where he defended Thomas Preston during one of the many Boston
Massacre trials. A year or two later, Adams was appointed delegate to the First Continental Congress
in Philadelphia, in 1774, and again the following year to the Second Continental Congress, in which
he nominated George Washington to Commander of the Continental army. He then nominated Thomas
Jefferson to head the drafting comity for writing the Declaration of Independence (History.com). And
on July 4, 1776, John Adams was among the fifty six delegates

The Changing View of Man, The Cosmos and His Place
Throughout the middle ages, people have viewed the cosmos as a basis for the social order here on
Earth. The celestial layers were representations of the medieval society and the church. The hierarchy
of the Kings and Pope over their subjects was justified by the hierarchy of the heavenly bodies; it was
considered natural and no one questioned it because it has been like that for so long. Medieval life was
centered on God, abiding by the doctrines of the Catholic Church, and the strengthening of faith.
Arts and literature in the medieval age featured divine and supernatural beings that promoted the
power and influence of the church. Spiritual and religious themes were constantly the subject of
paintings, sculptures, and literary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The transition of the pre modern to modern outlook was shown in King Lear, one of the most famous
of Shakespeare s plays. Ever since, the king was at the top of the medieval society, after him the lords
and nobles, knights, merchants, and peasants at the very bottom, but this will no longer be the case
when Lear s daughters decided that they wanted to be equal in power with the king. Traditionally,
children were supposed to honor and respect their father and mother, but for Goneril and Regan, Lear
s wicked daughters, they were only interested in their own individual interests, a demonstration of
very modern values. Cordelia was the only daughter who followed duties and kept to her proper place.
The storm at the heath also represented chaos and instability because the natural order of things was
disrupted with the king losing his rank and authority by being reduced to a crazy peasant. His journey
to madness symbolized his own transformation and a change of perspective in the way he looked at
life.
Again, this shift in thinking follows through in Niccollo Machiavelli s The Prince, on his idea that a
person is responsible for his own destiny and can become powerful gaining himself a high position of
power with the use of his own skill and intelligence. Those who become princes by virtue of their
abilities acquire dominion with difficulty but maintain it with ease (Prince, pg.30). He favored the
republic more than the monarchy due to his reasoning that

Analysis Of Clothes By Chira Banerjee Divakaruni
the short story Clothes by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, the author tells how a young woman, Sumita,
who lives in India, is set up for an arranged marriage; and has to move to America. The author
conveys the concept of American Dream throughout the story. This paper will compare Divakaruni s
concept of American Dream and how it differs from the life Sumita is leaving; to how moving to
another country can change your life in a positive way. Therefore having a chance at certain
opportunities that were not available before, which relates to the article What Moving to Another
Country Taught Me About Life by Sacha Strebe. By showing the concern Sumita had when she
thinking about leaving India, the author reveals how overwhelming it was moving to another country.
Sumita realized if the arranged marriage worked out the way her parents wanted, she would be
moving to America. Sumita did not realize she had a choice to her own destiny; she listened to her
mother and kept the tradition going on, she reports in the text, She had done it, and her mother before
her. A married woman belongs to her husband, her in laws. Hot seeds of tears prickled my eyelids at
the unfairness of it (Divakaruni 1). The thought of moving to another country with someone she barely
knew, scared Sumita. She grew up in India and knew America would be completely different. She did
not know what to expect; her parents or friends were not going with her so she had to experience this
new life with her soon to be husband. As Divakaruni stated, leaving the known for the unknown (1).
Similar to how Sumita immigrated into the U.S, in the article What Moving to Another Country
Taught Me About Life by Sacha Strebe, she claims The idea of leaving my family, our beloved
community of friends, and the familiar surroundings of our cute little neighborhood behind was tough,
and we certainly didn t make the decision lightly (Sacha Strebe). The thought of leaving your
hometown to go to a completely different environment is overwhelming. Saying goodbye to those you
know cannot go with you is devastating, especially if you have to leave that country by yourself or
with a stranger. Although it takes a lot moving to another country, the author portrays

British Crime Survey Chapter 1 Summary
This book aims to take on the main issues involved in modern contemporary society and victimology,
issues such as the media, race, gender, class and age. Each chapter is specific to a particular element of
victimology so to try and avoid broad sweeping statements but instead to give in depth insight into
each element (e.g. gender). The book was published in 2007 so is not outdated and is written by three
different authors which means opinions are not unfairly based on one person s view.
Chapter one is about the foundations of victimisation, the social division in society due to the key
issues which the authors go on to investigate in further chapters, and the relationship that this social
division has with victimisation. This chapter introduces other themes too like social inequality, media
representation of victimisation, political responses to victims, and the authors also draw attention the
British Crime Survey, pointing out that there is an over reliance on it and it may not be valid enough,
for example victims may not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter eight the authors seem to have a focus on society being fixated with young people being
offenders and very rarely in the spotlight as victims. Once again British Crime Survey data is used but
the limitations are pointed out by the author, such as the questions in the survey may reflect an agenda
by the interviewer (p214). The theme of social exclusion is picked up in this chapter in that children
are marginalised in the policy making process, all in all this chapter defends young people greatly,
perhaps to offer an alternative argument to the traditional. Chapter nine leads a balanced discussion on
old age how it relates to victimisation, and how it is a socially constructed concept. There is also a
critique to the assumption that old people have an irrational fear of

Media Effects On Children And Adolescents
The world that we lived in is all surrounding with media, people use the media every day and
everything; such as watching television, using the computer, and talking on the phone. On the media
we could learn and find out the information that we need. And we can also share our personal
information on the media. Media gives us a lot of convenient in our life, but there are also some
negative impacts. Media has a lot of negative impacts which it could be affected on children and
adolescents. The article Media and Risky Behaviors by Escobar Chaves is discussed about the media
effects that cause the risky behavior of the adolescents. In the article there are five types of teenager
health risk behaviors identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): obesity,
smoking, drinking, sexual risk taking, and violent. Escobar also mention those risk behaviors in his
article. Adolescents and children who spend more time on watching television and movie will more
likely to be overweight. Study shows that most people increase their energy intake when they were
watching television and movie. But also, long period of sitting time is another reason that may cause
the obesity. Furthermore, when people are watching television and movies, they will stay in one
position for a long period of time. Children and adolescents who are overweight are more likely to
become overweight when they were adult. Also poor eating habit will also cause obesity; for example,

Positive effect of Advertisement
The positive side of advertising is that it makes you aware that a product or service is available. New

Advertising can also be used to generate awareness among public that which product they use and to
which product they can say no. It can also be used to educate people about certain diseases or danger.
Even the backward people are now aware of many diseases and their problems. And all these credits
goes to proper advertising. Diseases like Polio could never been controlled if the timings for polio

Advertising can also be used to inform public about social events like concerts and concerts. Charity

The Terror Of Osama Bin Laden
The terrorists attacks on September 11, 2001 centered on New York City was a devastation that

never been forgotten and was one of the worst tragedies to occur in recent history. In an otherwise
positive note, Osama Bin Laden has since been killed and his death has directly caused a morale

Inception
Everyday new movies are made within the world with amazing cinematography, music, sound, and
actors. By far, Inception is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Inception is different from
extraction and throughout this movie you may get confused. Inception is the implantation of another
person s idea into a target s subconscious. Where as extraction is placing a thought in the mind in a
dream. Throughout Inception, Cobb s team builds dreams and within those dreams there are levels. In
the movie, they are trying to go three levels deep within one dream. In the beginning of the movie,
they start off with Cobb, the main character who wants to see his children but is unable to, laying on
the beach. It is intriguing because no one knows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music and sounds are loud and interesting. When an important or scary scene would be
approaching, the music would get louder to let the watchers know that an important event is about to
occur. The acting of Leonardo DiCaprio, also known as Cobb, is amazing. The way he fills the dream
with his subconscious is one of his best traits in the movie. Ellen Page, who is Ariadne the new
architect in the movie, is also an exceptional actor. They way she builds the dream to make it look so
realistic is mind blowing to me. When she made the town flip over itself in the movie, I was in shock
to see the level of intelligence that one can have by setting their mind to it. In the end, when Cobb is
with his children and he spins the top to see if he is in a dream or not, they cut it off so that way you
can imagine if it would fall or keep spinning. I thought that scene was one of the most enticing scenes
I have ever watched in any movie. It made me want to watch an Inception 2, even though that s not a
real movie. In the end, I would like to believe that the top would fall over so that way Cobb and his
children being reunited would be real and not in a dream. I would recommend this movie to anyone
who is into movies about going into the minds of

Stereotypes In The 1950s Era
The stereotypes of a teenager haven t changed much over the years; nevertheless, the fads have. The
fun, lively 1950s era brought poodle skirts, jukeboxes, hot rods, and Elvis Presley; things we don t
normally see unless it is Halloween. Teenagers danced at sock hops, where there was never a night
upbeat dance moves such as the twist and the jive weren t danced. The seemingly large predicaments
of the world today were insignificant back then. Life, as it seems, was simpler. Today, many people
swoon over the idea of living in the 1950s era; however, I would prefer to live in the time period that I
live in now because of fashion, schooling, and technology.
Fashion in the 1950s and now are disparate. Back then, most mothers sewed clothes for their children,
and fabric cost roughly $1 per yard. Girls didn t regularly buy clothes from the department store
because their mothers had time to sew their modish outfits. Girls were required to wear dresses or
skirts to school because pants weren t befitting enough at the time for women. Poodle skirts, as well as
sweaters, were quite popular. Girls wore nylons with their attire, but nylons are made differently now.
Nylons back then were 2, basically full leg long socks, whereas, today they are sewn together as one.
They wore belts to hold the nylons up, and they had a seam up the back. Popular hairstyles back then
included the back comb, and embellishing flowers around the bun. As the role of a woman in society
has evolved, so has a

The Farmers Of The United States
Before I entered this class, I took local farmers for granted. I thought all the produce in our
supermarkets was from local farmers, and I thought that green markets were just another place to buy
produce. This semester has opened my eyes to the issues surrounding the food we eat. Before the 1870
s canning industry, food was not shipped across the United Sates; it was consumed locally. Back then
the local farmer s had a market; with the grit in their teeth, soiled hands and pants, and their backs to
the sun, the farmer knew that if they grew a certain amount of food they could take it to market and
sell it for a profit. Though farmers could be content, they also knew that from every harvest a portion
of crop would spoil before it reached ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, when I walk into a grocery stores such as Shop Rite or Path Mart, the whole store smells like a
factory. I noticed what Joan Gussow was talking about when she illustrated that we need to make it a
trend to pay attention to where our food comes from. When I saw products in the super market that
were from the Dominican Republic, I thought to myself, these Dominicans work really hard to ship us
all these tasty fruits. The life of a farmer must pay well. Most people picture the average Dominican
worker on the farm, working the land, and having a cup of coffee while the are watching their little
babies run around. The reality of the situation is that Dominican workers are only paid a few dollars a
day; their country is starving because they are exporting their resources to other countries, instead of
consuming it themselves. Now my eyes are open to how much the food supply has not changed since
Gussow wrote, A modest proposal , in 1985. On a positive note, intellectual city dwellers are getting
organized and advocating to protect the local farmer by educating the average consumer to keep these
farmers in mind before he/she makes their purchase at the grocery store In this class, I learned a dirty
little secret that most people do not know. I learned that small local farmer s do not retire, which in
today s economy does not make sense. There are

Alexis De Tocquevilles Jury System
The jury is a magistracy , as described by Alexis de Tocqueville, happens to be one of the greatest
attributes of the democratic system. The jury is a sworn body of people called together to give an
impartial verdict or to even set a penalty or judgement which is submitted to them by a court. In other
words, they are to decide upon the truth or falseness of factual allegations based on the facts that they
have found. In order to weigh up the evidence and decide the accurate facts of the case, the jury has to

Increasingly, banks and financial institutions are beginning to realise the potential in properly utilised

Prayer On The Life Of A Minister
There is no substitute for prayer in the life of a minister. It is something that has to be an intentional
part of every day, but this is not always an easy task. Even Jesus had to work to incorporate prayer
into his daily routine rising early and going away from the others to spend time with God (Mark 1:35
37). If a minister is not careful, finding time to pray can feel like a burden, yet, it is one of the most
precious privileges that was bought for mankind through the blood of Jesus Christ. Prayer for a
minister goes beyond the developing of a vibrant relationship with God. A Pastor is called to pray the
prayers of the people, he is to pray with the sick and poor and he is to teach his people the importance
of prayer and how to incorporate it into their daily lives.
A Foundation of Prayer
The Bible states that there will always be people in need, and it is our duty to reach out and help to the
best of our ability (Deuteronomy 15:11). Hebrews 13:2 is a reminder not to miss an opportunity to
show kindness to a stranger, it just might be an angel that is being cared for. Matthew 25:34 36 gives
further clarification on how to serve the needy; For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I
was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and
you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. (NASB)

My Life For Rebuilding 90 s Model Cars
My husband and I have a strong passion for rebuilding 90 s model cars such as civics, hatchbacks,
Acura s, Mitsubishi Eclipse s, Celica s, etc. We do two project cars a year, and have done so for the
past four years. We used to be able to find older vehicles that were still in good condition, the
upholstery was in good condition, and there wasn t much wrong mechanically. About two years ago
we started to notice the lack of maintenance and time people would actually put into their cars. From
experience, a car will not run if not properly taken care of and serviced in the correct time frame.
Normally when my husband and I get a vehicle we always start under the hood. First, check the oil.
Without oil, people run the risk of seizing and locking up the engine and then it becomes a lot more
expensive than just a few quarts of oil. Most people I have noticed, don t know how often to change
their oil. When using regular blend oil, it should be changed around every 3,500 miles. When
purchasing synthetic oil, which is used in most vehicles today drivers should change it around 7,000
miles. After checking the oil, we check the tire pressure to ensure the correct lbs. of pressure required
for the type of tires and vehicle we have. Other fluid levels to check include the coolant reservoir, anti
freeze levels, as well as transmission and brake fluid. Aside from fluids, when my husband would
perform a tune up on a vehicle new to us, he would also check the spark plugs and wires

For this response paper I watched the second episode of the first season of Quantico. This episode

Mental Health In J. C. Burke s The Story Of Tom Brennan
J.C. Burke s coming of age novel The Story of Tom Brennan construes the evolving life of Tom
Brennan after a tragic accident. Narrating in a first person point of view, Tom guides the reader
through the raw details of his inner conflict and finding his way back to being a better version of
himself. This essay aims to analyse the author s portrayal of mental health, internal conflict and the
effects of grief, loss and tragedy that are presented through each of the characters troubled
perspectives.
J.C Burke conveys the theme of mental health through Tom s view of Daniel. Daniel is in jail.
Confined to a cell and trapped with the thoughts of the accident he caused, Daniel is helpless. The
major impact he caused on Fin s life proves to traumatise him more than anything else. Because even
though Daniel is confined to a cell, Fin is confined to a wheelchair. Never to walk on his own two feet
again. When talking to Tom about the harshness of it all, Daniel was crying as he said, Fin. Fin s the
hardest, though, mate. I just couldn t get this picture out of my head, Fin in a wheelchair. Constantly ...

Burke illustrates Tom s inner conflict with first person narration. The guilt he feels over the inactivity
he had on the night of the incident, his frustration with Kylie and the added guilt he exhibits because
he feels sorry for himself all adds up to his conflicted thoughts. Tom doesn t know or feel like himself
anymore. But Burke brings this to the attention of the reader in a good light when Tom thinks, But
now I knew what I missed most. I missed me, Tom Brennan, and that s why now I could smile, cause I

Metaphors and Repetition in Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
In Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, the speaker is a son talking to his aging
father and pleading with him to fight against death. The son knows that death is the inevitable end to
every life, but feels one should not give up to death too easily. By using metaphor, imagery, and
repetition, Thomas reinforces the son s message that aging men see their lives with sudden clarity and
realize how they might have lived happier, more productive lives. These men rail against fate, fighting
for more time to set things right.
The son uses dark and the end of day as metaphors for death. He ... Show more content on

Wise men know that death is appropriate, but they do not embrace it. These wise men fight death
because they feel their words have not been adequate enough to touch or illuminate others. The son
creates a visual image of the inadequacy wise men feel upon realizing their words have not
enlightened others their words had forked no lightning. The son also mentions good men who do not
die peacefully. These men despair that their feeble deeds did not accomplish enough. Even though
they were good men, they feel they could have done so much more if given the time.
The son next tells his father how wild and grave men also struggled with death. Wild men spent their
lives frivolously, wishing time on its way. They learn when it is too late that they hurried time too fast
and now they cannot recapture what they so wantonly spent. Their lives were foolishly wasted. The
son also mentions grave or serious men who review their lives with a swift lucidity when death is
upon them. These solemn, sober men now realize life could have been more joyous had they been a
little more blind. If life is taken a little less seriously, one could blaze like meteors and be gay.
Repetition at the end of each stanza is effectively used to reinforce the message to fight back against
death. The son implores his father to hang on any way he can and begs him to use joy or tears or anger
to remain in this life. Other men, be they wise or frivolous, serious or

Silent Spring By Rachel Carson
The dominant theme of Silent Spring by Rachel Carson is the powerful and detrimental impact
humans have on the natural world. Carson s main argument is that pesticides have harmful effects on
the environment and lead to a loss of biodiversity and quality of life. Carson uses the pesticide DDT
throughout the book as she examines the effects of pesticides throughout the United States. Though
the majority of the book is focused on the effects of pesticides on our ecosystem processes, she also
touches on cases of pesticide poisoning, cancer, and other diseases caused by DDT and other
chemicals that affect humans directly.
In the first few chapters she describes town where living things and the environment coexist in peace
but how, shortly after, the town is silent and the birds have stopped singing (Carson 13). She explains
that for the first time in the history, people will be exposed to chemicals from their conception to their
death. This was over 50 years ago, when man made pesticides had only been around for about two
decades. It prompts us to ask what level of exposure we are experiencing in 2015.
DDT was somewhat effective in killing off insect pests, but caused bird species to decline rapidly,
while harming other wildlife and human beings in the process. The chemical industry argued for many
years that DDT was completely harmless and Carson accuses the industry of spreading lies and
covering up the dangers of DDT.
The chemical industry is worth millions of dollars and

The pharmaceuticals drug industry is strictly regulated by FDA. To get access to a particular chemical

Common Law Dbq
Common law rights were guaranteed by the Magna Carta or Great Charter, which were affirmed in
1215 by King John. One did not have to be born into privilege to have common law rights, however,
those who were had even more rights. There were times that the king and parliament disagreed as the

The term common law means ...government protection against the encroachments of the rich and

many other courts in England, however, people of England and America believed they had certain
unalienable rights.
One main factor of common law rights was the right to a fair trial. Through common law, the people
were assured there would be an impartial judge and/or jury. Without such, the laws would be unfair
and no one would receive a fair trial. This was proven in some of the cases before the courts, however,
Sir Edward Coke remedied that situation so there was case law for the attorneys and judges to follow.

companies as the market leader in the industry. In order to do this, each company would go through
various changes, some of which hurt and some of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This structure is unlike that of the Philips where locals, within the national organizations, held senior
management positions. Basically, the structure gave some leeway to product control but still kept the
same global image of Matsushita. As times/cultures changed, the strategy that existed with Matsushita
during the early years proved to be the foundation of a successful company.
3.How these strategies are related the performance of these companies over time? Why? What is going
on in terms of industry competition and markets that makes one strategy outperform the other at any
point in time?
The performance of each company is different from time to time based on their two different
international strategies. Philips, for instance, showed poor struggles between national organizations
and product divisions since there was no centralized decision making terminal. In the end, the national
organizations held the power because they were in control of the assets. Being in control of assets, the
national organizations had more influence on the management team. Also the lack of clarity between
the two s responsibilities did not allow Philips to function effectively as a whole. They did have one
thing going for them though. Philips was able adapt to changing markets based on their localization
strategy. They

What Does The Labyrinth Mean
The Labyrinth
To me labyrinth mean that someone having a hard time with a person or a thing.
Why it s so difficult trying to find a way out of that situation feel like a young boy started to cry cause
he could not find his way out of the fair. That s how I feel about being in it or a dark hole and no tools
to get out it just trying to find a way out of this situation, but for me it s difficult to find the end
without making a mistake if not being blame for stuff and stressing out about school or loss of family
that s why I m tired of being stuck, but I can t do nothing about it I m lost and confused like I don t
have the tools to get out dark hole without digging too deep in the hole and all people have this type of
problem and they find a way out of this labyrinth if they can I can too. ... Show more content on

All you have to do is breath and stay calm I do it when I m stressed or put down (low self esteem) but
when I m at home alone often times in my deep thoughts talking to myself walking, sitting, and
standing around and thinking. Is the meaning of life, really just to have a meaning for life? And my
grandma explains what it means. She said if you in a situation, it can turn into some thing bad called
depression its something bad to your health if you don t treat it cause it s a serious thing like in the
story when Alaska died in a car wreak because she blamed herself like her father did, and miles and
the colonel was sad that she died, that s why Miles and the colonel was stuck in a

Examples Of The Third Paradox Of Motion
The second paradox of motion is The Dichotomy: Before an object or person travel a certain total
distance, it must get the half distance of it, before you reach the half distance, you must travel the half
of the half which is ¼. In order to travel in that point, you must take the half of ¼ which is 1/8 and
take the half of 1/8 which is 1/16 and so on, etc, until you can no longer travel and move from your
starting point.
For an instance, a player wanted to get the ball on the other side of the court, in which they have
distance of 94 ft (distance between the ball and the person or the length of the court), in order for him
to get the ball, he must take the half distance which is 47 ft, before he take the 47 ft, he must travel the
half of it which is 23.5. But before you travel this, you must take first the 11.75 ft distance. In order to
reach the 11.75 ft, you must take the half of it which is 5.88. Before you reach this distance, you must
take 2.94 ft of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For an instance, an arrow in flight, he said that the arrow didn t move at all or motionless because,
before it was hit/released by the handler, it already occupies an equal space at rest, and when it was
released by the person in locomotion, the arrow took the same space and no time lapses for it to move,
therefore the flying arrow is at rest and motionless. In Zeno s third paradox, he believed that a motion
should have time lapses in order to be in motion. Time lapse can be done if there is the presence of
time and space acting together. For example, as time passes by, the roots of a tree grow, making it to
be large and spread its root to hold the soil. Because of the presence of time lapses as well as the
changes occur on the roots of the tree, we can say that the roots are in

Essay on Defining Moments
It was Friedrich Nietzschehas who said, What doesn t kill you makes, you stronger . I like to call these
moments in a person s life, defining moments . Additionally, I like most people, have had a few of
these defining moments ; probably more than one person should. Growing up, I had a hard time
accepting one of my won t kill you make you stronger moments. It was a moment of betrayal and
deceit, inflicted upon by a person I trusted fully and completely, with my life. My mother. My mother
had it rough growing up. Forced to be out of the house nearly by dawn and only to return by nightfall,
she was ignored and turned away by her mother. All throughout her childhood, and most of her young
adult life until she ran away, my mother was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here in Oregon is where the three of us became a family; mom, Jelly a.k.a. Angelica (my sister) and
me. Years went by as we assimilated to life here in Oregon. My mother worked hard to give us kids
everything we desired and needed, all the while trying desperately not to be her mother. At the time
we were all unaware of how alike my mother and grandmother could be. When my sister hit her
teenage years, she hit a slippery slope of partying and drugs. Our family went through some hardships
with Jelly s drug and alcohol addiction. Jail time, drug rehab, in and out patient; however, my mother
and I stood by Jelly s side through it all. We were working on mending our family wounds when it
happened. An old love and drug buddy of my mothers, Jeff, had kept in contact with her over the
years. Still a frequent drug user, Jeff somehow convinced my mother to let him move in with us. Jeff
was not just a drug addict; he was a thief, a liar, and a woman beater, as we would soon find out.
However, it wasn t my mother he became violent with first; it was I. I had just come home from
spending the day at the river with my friends when Jeff insisted that I stole a pair of his sunglasses. I
of course denied this and it sent him into a violent rage. I was on my way to my bedroom, at the top of
the stairs, when he began screaming and yelling at me. I, wanting nothing to do with his tizzy fit,
ignored him and turned around to go back down the

Hepatitis B Vaccine
Hepatitis B Vaccine
Hepatitis B is the most common liver infection in the world and is caused by the hepatitis b virus. The
hepatitis b virus enters the body and travels to the liver via the bloodstream. In the liver the virus
attacks the healthy liver cells and then multiplies. The cells create copies of them selves and the
multiplying of the virus cells then triggers a response from the bodies immune system. Most people at
this stage of the virus are unaware the have the virus as there are no symptoms that can be seen or felt.
Hepatitis B can lead to cirrhosis (scaring of the liver), liver cancer or liver failure if not treated quickly
enough. Some signs and symptoms of hepatitis include abdominal pain, dark urine, fever, joint pain,
loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A dead or watered down version of the disease is injected into your blood stream from a needle and
this will stimulate the bodies immune system to make antibodies that will be able to fight of the
disease. Antibodies will form and these will protect the body from the hepatitis disease if your body
comes into contact with the disease. Your body will remember how to make these antibodies so if you
do come in contact with Hepatitis B later on your body will already know how to fight it off. Other
ways to stop the spread of Hepatitis B include washing your hands thoroughly after any potential
exposure to the virus or its carrier ,avoiding direct contact with blood and other bodily fluids that are
infected with the virus, cleaning up blood spills with a fresh diluted bleach solution as soon as
possible, avoiding sharp objects like razors that have been used by someone else and not sterilized
properly, avoiding illegal drugs and always make sure that needles are sterilized before using them.
The science community is helping to keep the spread of Hepatitis B by developing the vaccines used
and the government is providing the community with a way to stop the spread of hepatitis by giving
theses vaccines to all high school aged children and babies when the have been born. The vaccines
that have been developed to stop hepatitis b are stopping lots of people from getting extremely sick or
ill. Hepatitis can not be spread by touching another person unless bodily fluids are exchanged so it is a
good idea to make sure that when touching another person you where gloves and keep all contact
between people to a

My Job Outlook Of Physical Therapy Field Essay
With the job outlook of the physical therapy field being expected to grow by 34 percent by 2024,
faster than the average occupation, the average annual wage at a whopping $84,020, paid sick and
vacation days and the flexible work environment, this seems like the perfect profession to enter.
Having a career in physical therapy can be very rewarding because a physical therapist gets to watch
as his or her patients improve every appointment through treatment. Unfortunately, this is not always
the case in this profession. There are many disadvantages, and knowing these will help anyone
interested in this field have a better understanding of how tough pursuing a career in this field can be.
Being a physical therapist can be a rewarding experience and have amazing benefits. However, it is
important to be aware of the disadvantages: the extreme amount of education, physical demands,
emotional demands and the continuation of education requirements. Physical therapists are required to
complete at least six years or higher of education before work begins. This means that a master s
degree or a bachelor s degree must be achieved. Only a few colleges or universities offer master s
programs, therefore a student must enter a doctoral program to attain this profession. Acquiring a
Doctor of Physical Therapy degree requires three years of education only after receiving a bachelor s
degree. Most students join residency programs that can last anywhere from nine months to three years

Language In Human Communication
Language is a powerful tool that is integral in human communication. The human brain is hard wired
to be adept at understanding social cues and situations that change the way we choose to
communicate. These internal and external factors play into one another and ultimately determine how
we choose to correspond with others to achieve our ultimate goal relaying a message. Although in
many cases it is frowned upon to rely on slang to convey ideas, in some situations, slang can be a
reliable resource. By using his or her discretion and analyzing the situation, the speaker must
determine whether or not this dangerous, risk reward weapon should be used.
Internal factors will greatly contribute to the path a person takes in corresponding with others. The
way a person feels about his or her own subject matter, determines what attitude the message will
carry. This is known as tone. A speaker who is speaking on something he or she disagrees with might
possess an antagonistic tone, while someone who is passionate about their topic may be upbeat. The
tone of a message arbitrates what words will be used. This is called the style. Style is the culmination
of word choice, idea arrangement, and the overall message portrayed by the grouping of words. For
example, the antagonistic speakers, may use a great deal of dysphemistic language and arrange their
ideas in a way that will cause their audience to view the subject of their speech in a negative light. On
the other hand, the passionate

Van Gogh And Gauguin The discussion that took place during week three focused broadly on comparing the differences in vision, personality and ideas of the primitive between Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. These differences were investigated through their working relationship, as shown by their letters of correspondence, and the art each artist produced during this time. The group discussed comparisons between Van Gogh s plan and almost obsession with making the Studio of the South work and Gauguin s wanderlust that kept him moving. The ideal studio of both Gauguin and Van Gogh opened up discussion further to what aspects of the primitive each painter was influenced by in their attempted creation of a utopian working space. A Discussion again focused on comparing the two saying how the preference of Brittany versus Arles says much about how their creative process differed. Gauguin s rarely depicts his subject matter with descriptive accuracy instead he takes a place and abstracts the savage and primitive quality that he is searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its landscape but allows him to abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to their Catholic devotion and less modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888, Gauguin describes the figures in Vision After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and superstitious simplicity saying that the people are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion, and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a calm sunny place in nature that can act as a monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that, Arles was caught somewhere between a French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue for Gauguin who didn t want any of that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of civilization in his tropical landscapes. Mining comes as simplistic image of just people in hard hats with a pickaxe repeatedly pounding onto rocks until they gather desired materials. However, mining requires a trade cost in order to get reliable energy resource, as coal mining influences and infatuated the environment around it. He was direct descendant of Henry Adams, on his father s side, and John Alden, on his mother s side, both of whom were Pilgrims on the Mayflower in 1638 (Biography.com). Attending a local school during his primary education, going to Harvard College with a scholarship, at age sixteen, graduating at age twenty, Adams was well prepared for his future political career and involvement in American Independence. Through his political career, his writings, and his diplomatic skills, John Adams greatly contributed to the formation of the United States government, before, during, and after the Revolutionary War. John Adam studied law under James Putnam and by 1758 had become one of the most well known, respected attorneys in Massachusetts (Lossing, 28). Accordingly, in 1772, he was elected to the Massachusetts Legislature, where he defended Thomas Preston during one of the many Boston Massacre trials. A year or two later, Adams was appointed delegate to the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia, in 1774, and again the following year to the Second Continental Congress, in which he nominated George Washington to Commander of the Continental army. He then nominated Thomas Jefferson to head the drafting comity for writing the Declaration of Independence (History.com). And on July 4, 1776, John Adams was among the fifty six delegates ... The celestial layers were representations of the medieval society and the church. The hierarchy of the Kings and Pope over their subjects was justified by the hierarchy of the heavenly bodies; it was considered natural and no one questioned it because it has been like that for so long. Medieval life was centered on God, abiding by the doctrines of the Catholic Church, and the strengthening of faith. Arts and literature in the medieval age featured divine and supernatural beings that promoted the power and influence of the church. The transition of the pre modern to modern outlook was shown in King Lear, one of the most famous of Shakespeare s plays. Ever since, the king was at the top of the medieval society, after him the lords and nobles, knights, merchants, and peasants at the very bottom, but this will no longer be the case when Lear s daughters decided that they wanted to be equal in power with the king. Traditionally, children were supposed to honor and respect their father and mother, but for Goneril and Regan, Lear s wicked daughters, they were only interested in their own individual interests, a demonstration of very modern values. Cordelia was the only daughter who followed duties and kept to her proper place. The storm at the heath also represented chaos and instability because the natural order of things was disrupted with the king losing his rank and authority by being reduced to a crazy peasant. His journey to madness symbolized his own transformation and a change of perspective in the way he looked at life. Again, this shift in thinking follows through in Niccollo Machiavelli s The Prince, on his idea that a person is responsible for his own destiny and can become powerful gaining himself a high position of power with the use of his own skill and intelligence. Those who become princes by virtue of their abilities acquire dominion with difficulty but maintain it with ease (Prince, pg.30). By showing the concern Sumita had when she thinking about leaving India, the author reveals how overwhelming it was moving to another country. Sumita realized if the arranged marriage worked out the way her parents wanted, she would be moving to America. Sumita did not realize she had a choice to her own destiny; she listened to her mother and kept the tradition going on, she reports in the text, She had done it, and her mother before her. A married woman belongs to her husband, her in laws. Hot seeds of tears prickled my eyelids at the unfairness of it (Divakaruni 1). The thought of moving to another country with someone she barely knew, scared Sumita. She grew up in India and knew America would be completely different. She did not know what to expect; her parents or friends were not going with her so she had to experience this new life with her soon to be husband. As Divakaruni stated, leaving the known for the unknown (1). British Crime Survey Chapter 1 Summary This book aims to take on the main issues involved in modern contemporary society and victimology, issues such as the media, race, gender, class and age. The book was published in 2007 so is not outdated and is written by three different authors which means opinions are not unfairly based on one person s view. Chapter one is about the foundations of victimisation, the social division in society due to the key issues which the authors go on to investigate in further chapters, and the relationship that this social division has with victimisation. This chapter introduces other themes too like social inequality, media representation of victimisation, political responses to victims, and the authors also draw attention the British Crime Survey, pointing out that there is an over reliance on it and it may not be valid enough, for example victims may not ... Ellen Page, who is Ariadne the new architect in the movie, is also an exceptional actor. They way she builds the dream to make it look so realistic is mind blowing to me. When she made the town flip over itself in the movie, I was in shock to see the level of intelligence that one can have by setting their mind to it. In the end, when Cobb is with his children and he spins the top to see if he is in a dream or not, they cut it off so that way you can imagine if it would fall or keep spinning. I thought that scene was one of the most enticing scenes I have ever watched in any movie. It made me want to watch an Inception 2, even though that s not a real movie. In the end, I would like to believe that the top would fall over so that way Cobb and his children being reunited would be real and not in a dream. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is into movies about going into the minds of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Stereotypes In The 1950s Era The stereotypes of a teenager haven t changed much over the years; nevertheless, the fads have. The fun, lively 1950s era brought poodle skirts, jukeboxes, hot rods, and Elvis Presley; things we don t normally see unless it is Halloween. Teenagers danced at sock hops, where there was never a night upbeat dance moves such as the twist and the jive weren t danced. The seemingly large predicaments of the world today were insignificant back then. Life, as it seems, was simpler. Today, many people swoon over the idea of living in the 1950s era; however, I would prefer to live in the time period that I live in now because of fashion, schooling, and technology. Fashion in the 1950s and now are disparate. Back then, most mothers sewed clothes for their children, and fabric cost roughly $1 per yard. Girls didn t regularly buy clothes from the department store because their mothers had time to sew their modish outfits. Girls were required to wear dresses or skirts to school because pants weren t befitting enough at the time for women. Poodle skirts, as well as sweaters, were quite popular. Girls wore nylons with their attire, but nylons are made differently now. Nylons back then were 2, basically full leg long socks, whereas, today they are sewn together as one. They wore belts to hold the nylons up, and they had a seam up the back. Popular hairstyles back then included the back comb, and embellishing flowers around the bun. I thought all the produce in our supermarkets was from local farmers, and I thought that green markets were just another place to buy produce. This semester has opened my eyes to the issues surrounding the food we eat. Before the 1870 s canning industry, food was not shipped across the United Sates; it was consumed locally. Back then the local farmer s had a market; with the grit in their teeth, soiled hands and pants, and their backs to the sun, the farmer knew that if they grew a certain amount of food they could take it to market and sell it for a profit. Though farmers could be content, they also knew that from every harvest a portion of crop would spoil before it reached ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, when I walk into a grocery stores such as Shop Rite or Path Mart, the whole store smells like a factory. I noticed what Joan Gussow was talking about when she illustrated that we need to make it a trend to pay attention to where our food comes from. When I saw products in the super market that were from the Dominican Republic, I thought to myself, these Dominicans work really hard to ship us all these tasty fruits. The life of a farmer must pay well. Most people picture the average Dominican worker on the farm, working the land, and having a cup of coffee while the are watching their little babies run around. The reality of the situation is that Dominican workers are only paid a few dollars a day; their country is starving because they are exporting their resources to other countries, instead of consuming it themselves. Now my eyes are open to how much the food supply has not changed since Gussow wrote, A modest proposal , in 1985. On a positive note, intellectual city dwellers are getting organized and advocating to protect the local farmer by educating the average consumer to keep these farmers in mind before he/she makes their purchase at the grocery store In this class, I learned a dirty little secret that most people do not know. It is something that has to be an intentional part of every day, but this is not always an easy task. Even Jesus had to work to incorporate prayer into his daily routine rising early and going away from the others to spend time with God (Mark 1:35 37). If a minister is not careful, finding time to pray can feel like a burden, yet, it is one of the most precious privileges that was bought for mankind through the blood of Jesus Christ. Prayer for a minister goes beyond the developing of a vibrant relationship with God. A Pastor is called to pray the prayers of the people, he is to pray with the sick and poor and he is to teach his people the importance of prayer and how to incorporate it into their daily lives. A Foundation of Prayer The Bible states that there will always be people in need, and it is our duty to reach out and help to the best of our ability (Deuteronomy 15:11). Hebrews 13:2 is a reminder not to miss an opportunity to show kindness to a stranger, it just might be an angel that is being cared for. Matthew 25:34 36 gives further clarification on how to serve the needy; For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me. We used to be able to find older vehicles that were still in good condition, the upholstery was in good condition, and there wasn t much wrong mechanically. About two years ago we started to notice the lack of maintenance and time people would actually put into their cars. From experience, a car will not run if not properly taken care of and serviced in the correct time frame. Normally when my husband and I get a vehicle we always start under the hood. First, check the oil. Without oil, people run the risk of seizing and locking up the engine and then it becomes a lot more expensive than just a few quarts of oil. Most people I have noticed, don t know how often to change their oil. When using regular blend oil, it should be changed around every 3,500 miles. When purchasing synthetic oil, which is used in most vehicles today drivers should change it around 7,000 miles. After checking the oil, we check the tire pressure to ensure the correct lbs. of pressure required for the type of tires and vehicle we have. Other fluid levels to check include the coolant reservoir, anti freeze levels, as well as transmission and brake fluid. By using metaphor, imagery, and repetition, Thomas reinforces the son s message that aging men see their lives with sudden clarity and realize how they might have lived happier, more productive lives. The son also mentions good men who do not die peacefully. These men despair that their feeble deeds did not accomplish enough. Even though they were good men, they feel they could have done so much more if given the time. The son next tells his father how wild and grave men also struggled with death. Wild men spent their lives frivolously, wishing time on its way. They learn when it is too late that they hurried time too fast and now they cannot recapture what they so wantonly spent. Their lives were foolishly wasted. The son also mentions grave or serious men who review their lives with a swift lucidity when death is upon them. Carson s main argument is that pesticides have harmful effects on the environment and lead to a loss of biodiversity and quality of life. Carson uses the pesticide DDT throughout the book as she examines the effects of pesticides throughout the United States. Though the majority of the book is focused on the effects of pesticides on our ecosystem processes, she also touches on cases of pesticide poisoning, cancer, and other diseases caused by DDT and other chemicals that affect humans directly. In the first few chapters she describes town where living things and the environment coexist in peace but how, shortly after, the town is silent and the birds have stopped singing (Carson 13). She explains that for the first time in the history, people will be exposed to chemicals from their conception to their death. This was over 50 years ago, when man made pesticides had only been around for about two decades. It prompts us to ask what level of exposure we are experiencing in 2015. DDT was somewhat effective in killing off insect pests, but caused bird species to decline rapidly, while harming other wildlife and human beings in the process. • 40. international case Essay Philips vs Matsushita Case 1.Briefly describe reasons for Phillips and Matsushita to operate internationally. Why do they do it? Describe the international strategy of Phillips and Matsushita using the international strategy classifications we discussed in class (e.g., localization, transnational, global). Philips and Matsushita are two electronic (equipment and service) based powerhouses who had to expand their business to the international market. One my ask why they needed to operate internationally... each company, Philips and Matsushita, wanted to stand in front of their peer companies as the market leader in the industry. In order to do this, each company would go through various changes, some of which hurt and some of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This structure is unlike that of the Philips where locals, within the national organizations, held senior management positions. Basically, the structure gave some leeway to product control but still kept the same global image of Matsushita. As times/cultures changed, the strategy that existed with Matsushita during the early years proved to be the foundation of a successful company. 3.How these strategies are related the performance of these companies over time? Why? What is going on in terms of industry competition and markets that makes one strategy outperform the other at any point in time? The performance of each company is different from time to time based on their two different international strategies. Philips, for instance, showed poor struggles between national organizations and product divisions since there was no centralized decision making terminal. In the end, the national organizations held the power because they were in control of the assets. Being in control of assets, the national organizations had more influence on the management team. Also the lack of clarity between the two s responsibilities did not allow Philips to function effectively as a whole. They did have one thing going for them though. Philips was able adapt to changing markets based on their localization strategy. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Examples Of The Third Paradox Of Motion The second paradox of motion is The Dichotomy: Before an object or person travel a certain total distance, it must get the half distance of it, before you reach the half distance, you must travel the half of the half which is ¼. In order to travel in that point, you must take the half of ¼ which is 1/8 and take the half of 1/8 which is 1/16 and so on, etc, until you can no longer travel and move from your starting point. For an instance, a player wanted to get the ball on the other side of the court, in which they have distance of 94 ft (distance between the ball and the person or the length of the court), in order for him to get the ball, he must take the half distance which is 47 ft, before he take the 47 ft, he must travel the half of it which is 23.5. But before you travel this, you must take first the 11.75 ft distance. In order to reach the 11.75 ft, you must take the half of it which is 5.88. Before you reach this distance, you must take 2.94 ft of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For an instance, an arrow in flight, he said that the arrow didn t move at all or motionless because, before it was hit/released by the handler, it already occupies an equal space at rest, and when it was released by the person in locomotion, the arrow took the same space and no time lapses for it to move, therefore the flying arrow is at rest and motionless. In Zeno s third paradox, he believed that a motion should have time lapses in order to be in motion. Time lapse can be done if there is the presence of time and space acting together. For example, as time passes by, the roots of a tree grow, making it to be large and spread its root to hold the soil. Because of the presence of time lapses as well as the changes occur on the roots of the tree, we can say that the roots are in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, I like most people, have had a few of these defining moments ; probably more than one person should. Growing up, I had a hard time accepting one of my won t kill you make you stronger moments. It was a moment of betrayal and deceit, inflicted upon by a person I trusted fully and completely, with my life. My mother. My mother had it rough growing up. At the time we were all unaware of how alike my mother and grandmother could be. When my sister hit her teenage years, she hit a slippery slope of partying and drugs. Our family went through some hardships with Jelly s drug and alcohol addiction. Jail time, drug rehab, in and out patient; however, my mother and I stood by Jelly s side through it all. We were working on mending our family wounds when it happened. An old love and drug buddy of my mothers, Jeff, had kept in contact with her over the years. Still a frequent drug user, Jeff somehow convinced my mother to let him move in with us. Jeff was not just a drug addict; he was a thief, a liar, and a woman beater, as we would soon find out. However, it wasn t my mother he became violent with first; it was I. I had just come home from spending the day at the river with my friends when Jeff insisted that I stole a pair of his sunglasses. I of course denied this and it sent him into a violent rage. I was on my way to my bedroom, at the top of the stairs, when he began screaming and yelling at me. • 46. Language In Human Communication Language is a powerful tool that is integral in human communication. The human brain is hard wired to be adept at understanding social cues and situations that change the way we choose to communicate. These internal and external factors play into one another and ultimately determine how we choose to correspond with others to achieve our ultimate goal relaying a message. Although in many cases it is frowned upon to rely on slang to convey ideas, in some situations, slang can be a reliable resource. By using his or her discretion and analyzing the situation, the speaker must determine whether or not this dangerous, risk reward weapon should be used. Internal factors will greatly contribute to the path a person takes in corresponding with others. The way a person feels about his or her own subject matter, determines what attitude the message will carry. This is known as tone. A speaker who is speaking on something he or she disagrees with might possess an antagonistic tone, while someone who is passionate about their topic may be upbeat. The tone of a message arbitrates what words will be used. This is called the style. Style is the culmination of word choice, idea arrangement, and the overall message portrayed by the grouping of words. For example, the antagonistic speakers, may use a great deal of dysphemistic language and arrange their ideas in a way that will cause their audience to view the subject of their speech in a negative light. On the other hand, the passionate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
