Summary Of The Bitter Pill
The Bitter Pill: Why medical bills are killing us written by Steven Brill delves into the question as
to why medical bills are so high. As Brill begins his research he analyzed bills from hospitals,
doctors, and drug companies. Additionally, he interviewed doctors, Medicare and insurance
administrators, and gathered patient stories across the nation. He found that the United Statesspent
more money on healthcare than any other developed countries, he stated We may be shocked at
the $60 billion price tag for cleaning up after Hurricane Sandy, [however], we spent almost that
much last week on healthcare (Brill 2013). He also noted yet in every measurable way, the
results our healthcare system produces are no better and often worse than the outcomes in those
countries (Brill 2013). From the charts and graphs that Brill provided shows that the sixty
percent of personal bankruptcy filings per year are related to medical bills. Life expectancy in
the United States is the lowest amongst the countries that spend most on healthcare, our infant
mortality rank is fiftieth in the world, and that one pill cost as much as seven pills in other
developed countries such as France. Brill found that in many similar cases, like that ones he
presented in the article, Medicare would have at least paid for a small portion of the bill. However,
those who don t qualify for Medicaid and don t have insurance are often asked to pay excessive
prices.
Strengths
Although the United States is said to offer poor health services among other developed countries, it
still has some internal features that makes the system thrive over most healthcare system. One of
the major strength in the healthcare system is the breakthrough of technology advances. Some
technologies may improve the efficiency of care delivery by reducing procedure time, length of
stay, or number of hospitalizations, thereby increasing the capacity of the hospital to treat
additional patients (Sorenson et al 2013). In which, also favors many patients whom wished to
receive their test results sooner or on the estimated arrival date.
Another strength is that the medical research systems are some of the best in the world. Institutions

ENGL 112 Topic Selection Prewriting with Perspective Summary
Week 5
This week s goal is to begin collecting information and planning for the final Commentary essay by
reading, thinking, and engaging with your topic. As you determine your topic, you ll want to be
sure it s viable by understanding the perspectives within it and determining what unique angle you
can offer to the conversation. Under each prompt or question below, provide detailed information
that shares information about your topic.
1. What is your chosen topic, and how did you come across it? Why is it interesting to you? What
do you personally hope to gain or accomplish by writing about this topic?
My chosen topic is teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is very common in ... Show more content on

It also shows that there are more African American and Latina teen births than any other race. It s
shown that most teen parents end up parenting alone because the males aren t mature enough.
Teens that live in a house with multiple generations are more likely to succeed because they have
parental support. Some may suggest that the reason for so many teen births is because of the
reality show 16 pregnant and the media. This could be true because of the way that they glamourize
being pregnant. Young girls will look up to them and want to become like them.
Another source shows that the show is a form of birth control to some girls. Some believe that
what they see the moms go through is just another indication of why they shouldn t become
pregnant. Some things shown on the show will make you not want to become pregnant at such a
young age. Still having to go through high school and deal with pregnancy hormones is a lot to
handle. Then, having to deal with the baby s father walking out is very stressful. Most young men
who get young girls pregnant flee when they re told the news. The Parents Television Council
criticizes the show and believe they re intent is wrong.

Situation Analysis Market Research Dirty Deeds Incorporated is a for profit home cleaning
service that was created by six entrepreneurs on July 7, 2005. In order to differentiate Dirty Deed
Inc. s cleaning service from their competitors, they are implementing a risquГ© alternative. Dirty
Deeds Inc. will be targeting single men and women over the age of 18 in need of domestic
cleaning services and desiring discreet adult entertainment. Teams of at least two men and/or
women dressed in sexy lingerie will conduct all cleaning services. The company has strict
provisions in place to ensure that the services offered will always remain tasteful and in

Licensing will also be more difficult to obtain, since adult entertainment is involved. These
additional fees as well as the additional talent required will cause Dirty Deeds prices to be higher
than traditional cleaning services. Another weakness is that Tucson s older population may be
more conservative than anticipated which may cause them to reject the service. The last
weakness is there may be a staff shortage during the summer and holiday months when college
students are out of town. Not having employees to clean houses means less productivity and
profitability. Among the external opportunities that Dirty Deeds may enjoy are that this type of
service has never been offered in Tucson before. If the service is widely accepted, the company
can be very profitable. Furthermore, Tucson s diverse population is consistently expanding which
offers a growing customer base. Dirty Deeds may also be able to utilize the new ideas that today s
college student have to offer. Applying new concepts to current cleaning methods will boost Dirty
Deeds Inc. reputation as an innovative cleaning company. Since customer satisfaction is
guaranteed, clients will likely refer Dirty Deeds Inc. to their friends which may also contribute to
an increased workflow. Threats exist that Dirty Deeds must convert into opportunities in order to
realize sufficient profit. One such threat is that people may not be willing to pay

Cultural Exchange In Africa
In the year 1235 C.E a new empire arose in africa just after the fall of the strong ghana years
before this empire, Mali was one of the strongest and wealthiest empires in Africa. Mali was one
of the three strongest and wealthiest empires,it is located in west Africa and above the Niger river.
Mali became a site of cultural exchange because when the people of the north seen their wealth they
went to trade, exchange ideas and share religion.
Mali became a cultural exchange because years before the empire of Mali arised the empire of
ghana was already there it had already attracted people from the north to trade for gold.
The first reason Mali became a site of cultural exchange is because they were the wealthiest
empire in africa located west of africa and people up north started traveling down west africa to
trade for gold and when people from foreign countries come to a new country they will share their
culture along with trading their goods.
According to The Ghana empire by U.C Davis Social Science in the year 2014 it states Mali was
one of three medieval kingdoms that ruled over West Africa. The first empire was Ghana, which
was ruled by a king from the Soninke people and Trade with the Arabs did not create the Ghana
empire, but it certainly made the rulers and merchants of Ghana much richer .These quotes show
that Ghana was one of the strongest and wealthy kingdoms and Mali was one of those

Description of Person Centered Theory
The Humanistic and Existential Theory I selected Person Centered theory. The Person centered
approach was established in the 1940s by Carl R. Rogers. Carl Rogers established this theory to
prove that a client hold the key to their recovery (ADPCA, 2011). This approach is considered to

Therefore, New York is represented as a very crowded city with a lot of things happening.
Moreover, it seems an extremely loud city with people rushing everywhere and minding their own
business.
The main character Stu Shepard (Colin Farrell) is represented as a very arrogant and popular
man. He comes across as very cocky and a con man. Furthermore, when we first see him the camera
is looking up on him. This makes him seem very important and big.
The scenes The Caller and Exposed start to build tension to the film by using some very clever
effects and media techniques. Firstly, the soundtrack helps build a sense of fear by playing eyrie
music, this creates tension, plus the music is playing irregularly so tension is building all the time.
Moreover, the irregular music creates tension in certain places of the film to emphasise the fear at
that particular moment. This means tension is constantly building. Furthermore, the normal sounds
that you would hear in a city are muffled and there aren t many of them so you can stay focused
on the phone booth. Moreover, The Caller s voice is much louder than usual, this makes it look as
though he knows he has the power over Stu and that he has him wrapped round his finger.
Secondly, the variety of camera angles makes it feel like he s being. They also change very
suddenly which creates tension because you don t know where he is being watched from because

Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin in the Storm utilizes imagery in characters to build up the theme of love through the
perspective of sex and infidelity. The short story The Storm by Kate Chopin, manages the theme of
adultery. The story happens in the late 1800s. There are two fundamental characters, the spouse,
Calixta, and the previous significant other, Alcee. The short story, The Storm by Kate Chopinis
about a romantic lovethat would never be until the point when it quickly was. The point that
Chopin was attempting to get crosswise over was that Calixta and Alcee had a solid enthusiasm for
each other, and maybe loved one another, yet they would never have had the chance being in
separte social classes. It is an enthusiastic, yet concise affair between two wedded individuals from
various social classes that happens amid a storm in Louisiana around 1898. All through the story the
consistent changing of symbolism assumes an extraordinary part in the advancement of characters
and their capacity to accomplish the theme.
In spite of the fact that there is a physical in the story, there is likewise a storm of emotions.
Chopin can pass on the behaviors of her characters all through the story in light of the fact that the
storm that happens at the earliest reference point of her story. As the storm approaches Calixta is
home sewing, while spouse Bobinot and child Bibi are out at the store. Bobinot sees the dismal

Gertrude s Treatment Of Women In Hamlet
The role and treatment of women throughout Hamlet causes the play to come across as
misogynistic and outdated. There are only two women introduced to the audience in the play, one
being the incestuous Gertrude and the other, naГЇve and weak Ophelia. Hamlet, having felt
betrayed by his Mother, becomes cynical about all women in general. He becomes obsessed with
female sexuality, and the obsolete idea that women should remain pure until marriage. Shakespeare
portrays women as weak and dirty creatures that men should be weary of, however easy it may be
to manipulate them.
In Hamlet s agony over his father s death, he feels betrayed by Gertrude due to the fact that instead
of offering comfort she re marries to Hamlets uncle. The audience becomes

Paul Grice s Cooperative Method
Grice s maxims
We use the language every day to communicate with each other in order to learn.in other words we
need language to cooperate.
In linguistics the cooperative principles design to cooperate to work together in order to
communicate efficiently between two people or groups of people.
Grice s maxims was written in 1975 and created by Paul Grice about how follow the conversation
maxims. The linguist Paul Grice presented these maxims in depth and give us four maxims.
The cooperative principle is generally about cooperative with one another when two people want to

If we violate the maxim of quality, we lie. If we violate the maxim of quantity by not giving enough
information. According to Grice, a maxim has been flouted and implicature .There is an important
relation between conventional and an implicit meaning. Speakers can interact in many utterances,
but the hearer gather the utters. Cooperative principle attempts to make the utterances more
difficult rather easier and can delete information.
The CP is concerned with being helpful, avoiding miscommunication particularly in speaking.
Many problems in interpretation between Grice s use of the term cooperation with a technical
meaning, and meaning of the word ,because dialogue may be right or wrong termed as being
cooperative .

Glomerulonephritis is a glomerular kidney disease in which the kidneys filters become inflamed

I disagree and agree with both sides to some extent. To me, this is not a right or wrong or black
and white process. Agencies within the Intelligence Community and Federal law enforcement,
FBI, have changed how they approach the selection process by adopting a more whole person
approach (Woska, 2016). They have maintained their education standards, based on fields of
study and work with the agencies, but have relaxed or adjusted how they view drug and criminal
pasts. They now take into consideration or ask is this person salvageable? They look at the totality
of the circumstances and evaluate if there is a likelihood the behavior will likely happen again or
not. They take into consideration factors such as age, or was the drug use truly experimentation or

The People s Temple was a new religious movement founded on April 4th, 1955 by founder James

There is only one island in the world that can lay claim to being the home of two different countries.

Portrayal Of Female Sexuality By Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s 1897 Dracula is a novel that condemns liberated female sexuality, presenting it as
volatile and threatening to the established patriarchal order of the Victorian Era. By examining the
varying level of sexuality among Stoker s female characters and their narrative outcomes, the novel
s attitude that female sexuality is hostile becomes apparent.
In Castle Dracula, Harker meets three vampiric women whose monstrosity is presented as
inseparable from their eroticism. Describing their fangs, Jonathan Harker writes I could see in the

In extreme contrast to the lecherous she beasts met by her husband in Transylvania, Mrs
Johnathan Harker epitomises the Victorian notion of a good woman. Rather than occupy the
role of a physical lover, Mina is a maternal figure, nurturing all her friends with an innate and
instinctive tenderness. To the bereaved Lord Arthur Godalming she opens her arms
unthinkingly (275), resting his head on her shoulder as though it were that of a baby that some
day may lie on my bosom (275). Despite this simile endowing Mina with power over Godalming
it is an acceptable power for a woman to have, that possessed by mothers over their babes, rather
than that by dominatrices over their victims. At the same time as being femininely caring, she is
also intelligent and sensible, perceived as typically masculine qualities by the Victorians.
Described by Van Helsing on more than one occasion of having a man s brain (281, 404) while
also having a woman s heart (281), Mina is rendered virtually void of any sexual desire or
attraction. Her womanliness centres on gentle compassion and the manliness of her mind ensures
she is too sensible to give in to any subconscious eroticism. She alone of the novel s female
characters survives, and ends happily married with one son.

Outcomes And Competency
Describe the role of outcomes and competencies in curriculum frameworks
Globally nurse educators are being challenged in redesigning curriculum in an effort to prepare
nurses to perform efficiently with in the current healthcare tends and establish teaching that will
promote the success of graduates. In designing a curriculum it is essential to determine the content
that is necessary to be taught, its effectiveness and the environment to achieve maximum outcomes.
Currently nursing curriculum need to transition to a broad scope of proficiencies incorporating use
of evidence base practice to investigate teaching and learning beyond the traditional didactic
methodology to convey courses (Billings Halstead, 2016, p.130).

Students in the Associate degree nursing have been taught in Bloom taxonomy of knowledge and
understanding with limited emphasis on applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. This will
yield competent nurses that will affect mortality and morbidity in health care (American
Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2015, p. 1).
Learning outcomes must be evaluated with capstone course, promoting incorporation of community
health, nursing leadership or management, and research and evidence based practice, while
facilitating professionalism such as communication skills, health care ethics, and health policy.
Which should include preceptorship to ensure the student is well prepared to apply theory to
practice in every health care environment (Billings Halstead, 2016, p.136). It is evident that the
education level of Bachelor and graduate nurses has resulted in a decrease of mortality rates,
medication errors and improved patient recovery. It is essential to create educational programs that
are aimed towards producing competent nurses to enter the workforce which will have direct
impact on patient recovery and global health care (American Association of Colleges of Nursing,

Catcher In The Rye Quotes About Depression
In today s world people get irritated by people who are different from them. Readers can see this
in J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye. Holden suffers from depression and he has many
different problem in his life that he has to deal with. Although Holden is a troubled boy who is
trying to find where he fits in, readers see him as irritating because he is judgmental, immature
and a hypocrite. Holden is quick to judge people before he even knows anything about them.
Holden after leaving Pencey is staying at a hotel. He has nothing to do and no one to call so he
goes down to the lobby. When he gets down there he sees a group of people and says to himself,

Why The Kiva System Has Become A Successful
There are many reasons why the Kiva system has become very successful in delivering results to
the companies who have made the investment of implementing it to their pick and packing
stations. The concern with these station is that they are considered cost centers in the supply
chain of a company. Labor is a huge part of the cost associated with these centers as well as the
cost with expanding automated retrieval and storage systems. By improving the efficiency in this
part of the value chain would mean huge savings for the company. Kiva systems are intended to
improve efficiency, reduce power consumption, and essentially eliminate some processes necessary
under the old method of pick and packing. Labor cost would be reduced by picking up... Show more

They would be more concerned in inventory space. Description of the Logistical Practice To
better understand how the Kiva System works, one needs to understand how the need for the
Kiva System was created. Warehouses play an important role in the supply chain from the
manufacturer to the consumer. They serve as giant pick and packing centers. The product
comes in usually in large pallets that are sold in bulk, but then they are broken down and either
repackaged or organized to be stored at the warehouse. These distribution centers are considered
cost centers because the work done at the facility add no inherent value to the product
(Kamarthi). This means that all the cost is being placed on the company and not the consumer
because it adds no value to the product. This would mean that it is really important for a
company to keep the operational costs at a minimum by improving the accuracy of the
distribution center high. The process of filling and order in a distribution center requires a few
people, pickers, sorters, and packers. This means that a lot of money is tied up to labor. Another
method the DC s use to make the process faster is by using automation processes such as conveyors
and sorting equipment. These automation handling systems are very expensive and involve large
design cycles that take 12 to 24 month to bring online (article citation). Another drawback is that
once they are set, they are set in stone

The Common Profile Of A Homeless Family
It is estimated that 3.5 million people will experience homelessness during a given year. The
fastest growing population experiencing homelessness is families, mostly made up of single
mothers and her children. Families headed by women comprise more than half of the homeless
population and 42% of this population is under the age of 5. Across the country about 2.5 million
children are homeless, which is equivalent to 1 in every 30 children. The legal definition of
homeless refers to those who spend 7 consecutive nights in a car, abandoned building, public park,
emergency shelter, nonresidential building, or other unconventional residence.
The common profile of a homeless family is headed by a single mother, in her 20 s with an
average of two children, of which one or both are under the age of six. Homeless mothers tend to
be poorly educated, unemployed, and lacking the skills necessary to become employed. There is an
equal representation of Caucasian (47%) and African American (47%) homeless mothers. These
women commonly described their lives as ... a remarkably constant stream of distressing and spirit
breaking encounters, beginning in early childhood ... including experiencing physical and/or sexual
abuse, constant crisis, stress from persistent poverty, violence in the family and community, and
isolation. Most of these women grew up homeless and spent their childhood in foster care making
them distrustful of the system.

Analysis Of Letter From A Birmingham Jail
Dyeing Courage
Seas of glass varying in shape, size, and hue work together to form a stunning mosaic of the broken,
working as one. Radiating above its inexorable admirer, the fluid contrast in such intoxicating
amounts hypnotizes the soul permanently leaving shards of 1960. Such a piece represents the
corruption embedded in history that afflicted the black community. Exploiting the rhetoricof
appealing to reason, allusion, and anthesis, Dr. King stained his proclamation of civil inequality
with these devices in his renowned, Letter from a Birmingham Jail .
King s purposeful use of appealing to reason gave him an upper hand throughout his piece, Letter
from a Birmingham Jail and established security in his statements. Taking ethos into consideration
from Martin Luther King s text, we saw why he presented himself in such a formal manner. I have
the honor of serving as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization

We By Margaret Atwood Summary
Defining her world as social science fiction, Margaret Atwood brings clarity to a situation most
deem unimaginable. Regarding the articles in the newspaper, Offred says that we were the
people who were not in the papers. We lived in the blank white spaces at the edge of print. The
characters see the news story as existing separate from the reality they view as their own. When
the main character refers to herself and her friend as ...the people not in the papers (57), she
acknowledges that the tragic occurrences in society do not alter their lives. She carries on with
her everyday life unaffected by the mutilations and murders around her. By using the term we, the
author speaks literally of the main character, her friend, and her immediate family. A broader
interpretation of the word would refer to those who have the luxury of turning a blind eye and
allowing their life to continue on, uninterrupted. Those who live life uninterrupted ...lived in the
blank white spaces at the edge of the print, (57) untouched and unmarred. The characters detach
their selves from the stories within the newspaper and in doing so it gave [them] more freedom

Price, Product, Promotion, and Place
The Four P s of Marketing The four P s of marketing are product, price, place and promotion.
Product is a good or a service that is intended for the consumers based upon their wants or needs.
Price is the set price on the product. The price will depend on the targeted consumer, the economy,
and the location. Place is merely the location in which the company decides to distribute the
product. Promotion is the way the company decides to advertise their product to the public.
(Griffin, Ebert, 2003).

Unlike the Xbox 360, Playstation included the new features, like Wi Fi, and the BluRay player
into the system price (Peckham, 2009). The gradual drop in price is also known as a pricing
strategy called skimming pricing. Another variable in the strategy of pricing is the targeted
consumer for the product. The PS3 was originally priced at $500, however their targeted
consumers; previous users of the PS1 2, could not afford the $500 (Sampei, Chang, Watanabe, Kim,
Yoshigoe, Joon). Sony then had to rethink their pricing strategy to include all consumers.
Promotion
Promotion or advertising is one of the most important parts of marketing a product. Sony has used
man methods of advertising the Playstation 3. Some of these methods they have used are television
commercials, newspaper articles, magazine articles, billboards, radio, mailers and advertisements
through collector s cups and other knickknacks. Sony s slogan for the PS3 is It Only Does
Everything, (Dille, 2010). The slogans along with the advertisements have grabbed the consumers
attentions.
Place
Place is where the corporation or business decides to distribute their product. Sony has decided to
distribute the PS3 through major retail stores, such as Wal Mart, K Mart, Radio Shack, Circuit
City, Best Buy, Sears and many more. Sony has chosen these specific places for two reasons; one,
because it s where the

The Ideas Of Einstein And Freud
Mr. Schneiders World History Kyndall Roberts Feb. 12, 2015 Section 1: Question 3: The ideas
of Einstein and Freud were revolutionary because of how they shaped faith of reasoning and
science. Einstein shook the ideas and laws that Isaac Newton had formerly created about motion
and gravity. In 1905, Albert Einstein came up with the theory of relativity, which stated that
although the speed of light is constant, other things like space and time are not. He believed
that speed and time can change when it is measured relatively to an object moving near the
speed of light about 186,000 miles/hour. These ideas had implications not only for science, but
for the world. There was uncertainty and relativity that replaced the sense of security that came
with Isaac Newton s laws. Einstein and Isaac s point of views were very different. Sigmund
Freud had ideas that were as revolutionary as Einstein s. Freud treated psychology patients. From
his experiences, he constructed a theory about the human mind. He came up with the idea that a
part of the human mind is irrational, but it is now called the unconscious. In the unconscious,
many drives existed, such as pleasure seeking drives that the conscious mind was unaware of.
Freud s ideas actually weakened faith in reasoning. By the 1920 s, Freud s ideas had developed
widespread influence. Question 4: Literature in the 1920 s was affected by World War 1. The
brutality of the war caused philosophers and writers to question ideas about

What Qatar should do
Abolishing Kafala system
Kafala system or sponsorship system is a system that been used to monitor migrant workforces in
Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab
Emirates. (Human Right Watch, 2008) This system requires in coming workers to have an in
country sponsor. It has been criticized by Human Right Organization as an open door to
opportunities for employers exploiting and abusing labors since employers control over the
workers visas, meaning they could refuse to allow labors to change jobs or stop them from
leaving the country. It also totally leads to intimidation and mistreatment of working conditions.
The reason of discontinuing Kafala is because it is a root cause of abusing by giving a too much
power in sponsors hand. Stopping Kafala would bring justice between both parties in terms of rights

The Purpose of Propaganda in Today s Society
Propaganda in today s society serves the same purpose as it did many years ago, and that purpose is
to promote a fitting solution to a problem or to sell an idea or item. There are various types of
propaganda in the world. The main way that propaganda is advertised would be the media.
Whether it be television, newspapers, radio etc . the promoter advertiser will always find a way to
promote their idea or product. You also have seven basic sections or types of propaganda; transfer,
testimonial, glittering generalities, plain folks, bandwagon, name calling and card stacking. Each
of these is used in propaganda whether it is current and modern art forms such as Nikeв„ў
commercials or from 100 years ago in political cartoons. Each of the seven types of propaganda
differs and is unique in their its own way. Propaganda is, has always been, and shall continue to
be, a huge part of the advertising world of society.
Transfer is a type of propaganda in which the media utilizes a person or object that people find
good natured or intriguing, and they associate the person or object with a product. In this form of
propaganda, symbols are constantly being utilized. Most political campaign promotion posters
contain the transfer category. Some ads such as icy hot and cleaning products use well known
people or well known people s names to promote their product. Take Shaquille O Neal s
commercials for the Icy Hot patches for example. People pay attention to the ad because they see

The Types of Cosmetic Surgery and How They Are Affected by Body Image
Studies have shown that, 14.6 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in
2012. As cosmetic economic indicators such as auto, retail, and home sales saw gains in 2012
so too did plastic surgery (www.plasticsurgery.org). This statistic has proved that across the
United States people are being affected with the opinion and views formed based off of Body
Image. Throughout the years, the ideas of body image have changed based off of people s
personal desires on what they should look like or on trend . Women, children, and even men
base their body image on what society believes is ideal. In some years, society might believe that
a small waist and a thin frame might be the perfect body image. In others, the curvier frame would
be the ideal body image. People have gone down the path of cosmetic surgery in order to meet their
needs and desires for what they believe are the perfect body . The types of plastic surgery that are
being performed correlate directly to the ideas of what body image is supposed to look like.
The use of plastic surgery date back to 2,000 B.C. where Egyptians and Indians would practice on
warriors injured from battle in order to fix their wounded faces. In India and Egypt, ancient
physicians practiced some of the most rudimentary forms of plastic surgery (Janelle). With the

How can communication be improved in an organization that is structured in a traditional
bureaucratic form? To understand how communication can improve within a traditional
bureaucratic criminal justice system, one must understand the structure and how communication is
dispersed within the respective criminal justice agencies. It is also important to realize that each
agency or criminal justice organization has policy and procedures governing how communication is
transmitted. (Stojkovic, Stan, Kalinch, David, Klofas, 2012) Within law enforcement agencies

Additionally, better understanding of these barriers by top level managers within the organization
will allow for better formalization of communications. These barriers include: 1. Preconceived
ideas 2. Denial of contrary information 3. Us of personalized meanings 4. Lack of motivation or
interest 5. Non credibility of the source 6. Lack of communication skills 7. Poor organizational
climate 8. Use of complex channels 9. Communication gap (Stojkovic, Stan, Kalinch, David, Klofas,

The understanding of those barriers to which prevent information from being received can allow for
better communication throughout the department.
How might computerized communication be utilized to improve the effectiveness of
communication in a bureaucratic organization? Computerized communication within law
enforcement has and will continue to improve law enforcement as the technology is implemented
and utilized within these agencies. The utilization of such devices as mobile data terminals (MDT

Computer and technology were said to have the potential to aid in criminal justice activities through

Four Rules to Being Short
Rule #1: Do not EVER try to reach for something high if you can just barely touch it with your
fingertips. I say this because you ll have to stretch as much as you can and eventually you ll feel
like you pulled something in your foot. Trust me, if this happens to you, then it will take a while
for your foot to stop hurting so if need be, climb or use a step stool. It doesn t have to be a certain
thing. Use a chair or wood block maybe. As long as you can step up on it, reach what you need,
and not have a fear of falling over then it s a step stool. Now, don t go about stepping on just
anything. Don t even try to put all your weight on something that might break under you. I don t
even need to tell you the consequences on that. Either you already know it, or you can figure it
out on your own. Reaching things in upper cabinets presents a unique set of challenges. Have
you ever tried climbing on the counter at 6:30 in the morning? It s a death trap waiting to
happen, but if you re short and hungry, you ll take your chances. First off, you have to jump up
and be able to hold yourself while you lift your legs and plant them under you so you sit on your
knees. This is so that you can elevate yourself if you still can t reach what you want. Obviously,
opening the cabinet door is tricky because you re right in front of it so you have to be careful
about how you bend so there is room to open it up. At this point, you have a high risk of falling
backwards so make sure

High School Sports Center Research Paper
School sports provide physical, social and emotional benefits for the students and they also create
opportunities for students to be involved in the overall school community, and resonate with the
school values. However, all these benefits and opportunities can easily be missed if the school
lacks a modern and engaging sports center. If you think that it s time for your schoolto modernize its

Choose a multi sport court design
Most schools have major sports which usually gets all the attention, and participates in major
competitions. Nevertheless, even if your team has a long standing tradition of playing a certain
sport, things can change with each generation. So, consider a court design that can accommodate
popular sports like basketball or volley, but also consider tennis, football, soccer and other sports
with increasing popularity. Thinking in advance will pay off in the future. If space is a problem,
consider portable equipment.

remains in Sauron s possession. The One Ring is lost in the river when Isildur defeats Sauron.
After passing through many hands, the One Ring is given to Frodo Baggins. This brings us to the
beginning of the Lord of the Rings.
The nature of the One Ring can be explained in three distinct ways. The One Ring is a
personification of Sauron s power. It is a symbol of evil in general. It also is an object with a mind
of its own.
As the One Ring s creator, Sauron had placed a great amount of his own power into the ring for
the purpose of controlling the other rings. The ring is an extension of Sauron s power. The loss

Improving Older Adults Memory Performance Using Prior...
The article that I will be reviewing for the third discussion day is titled, Improving Older Adults
Memory Performance Using Prior Task Success. This research was completed by Lisa Geraci
and Tyler M. Miller, two researchers from Texas A M University. In order to better understand
their work, it will be benefical to look at some of the background information on the topic. When it

experimentally activating negative stereotypes of aging can cause... Show more content on

For the task success condition, participants were given a package containing 30 sets of five
scrambled words. Next, they were instructed to arrange the word to rearrange the words to form a
grammatically correct four word sentence. Participants in this condition had an unlimited amount of
time to complete the task. In contrast, the task failure condition had 10 seconds to complete the
task. This was half the time that it took participants in the task success condition to arrange a
sentence. Moreover, the control group did not receive this task to complete. After this task, all
participants completed a memory experiment. For the experiment, the participants were given a list
of 30 words. They had 2 minutes to evaluate this list after which they had to write down as many
words as they could remember. For the results, the researchers found that there was a statistically
significant difference between the groups. Specifically, older adults in the task success group had
better recall than the control and task failure groups. Additionally, the older adults who experienced
prior task failure did not have worse memory recall than the control group. Although these results
posed true for the older adults, they did not extend to the younger adults. In regards to these results,
the researchers theorized a couple potential reasons why these relationships exist. First, they
reasoned that

  • 2. Summary Of The Bitter Pill The Bitter Pill: Why medical bills are killing us written by Steven Brill delves into the question as to why medical bills are so high. As Brill begins his research he analyzed bills from hospitals, doctors, and drug companies. Additionally, he interviewed doctors, Medicare and insurance administrators, and gathered patient stories across the nation. He found that the United Statesspent more money on healthcare than any other developed countries, he stated We may be shocked at the $60 billion price tag for cleaning up after Hurricane Sandy, [however], we spent almost that much last week on healthcare (Brill 2013). He also noted yet in every measurable way, the results our healthcare system produces are no better and often worse than the outcomes in those countries (Brill 2013). From the charts and graphs that Brill provided shows that the sixty percent of personal bankruptcy filings per year are related to medical bills. Life expectancy in the United States is the lowest amongst the countries that spend most on healthcare, our infant mortality rank is fiftieth in the world, and that one pill cost as much as seven pills in other developed countries such as France. Brill found that in many similar cases, like that ones he presented in the article, Medicare would have at least paid for a small portion of the bill. However, those who don t qualify for Medicaid and don t have insurance are often asked to pay excessive prices. Strengths Although the United States is said to offer poor health services among other developed countries, it still has some internal features that makes the system thrive over most healthcare system. One of the major strength in the healthcare system is the breakthrough of technology advances. Some technologies may improve the efficiency of care delivery by reducing procedure time, length of stay, or number of hospitalizations, thereby increasing the capacity of the hospital to treat additional patients (Sorenson et al 2013). In which, also favors many patients whom wished to receive their test results sooner or on the estimated arrival date. Another strength is that the medical research systems are some of the best in the world. Institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, Harvard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As you determine your topic, you ll want to be sure it s viable by understanding the perspectives within it and determining what unique angle you can offer to the conversation. Under each prompt or question below, provide detailed information that shares information about your topic. 1. What is your chosen topic, and how did you come across it? Why is it interesting to you? It also shows that there are more African American and Latina teen births than any other race. It s shown that most teen parents end up parenting alone because the males aren t mature enough. Teens that live in a house with multiple generations are more likely to succeed because they have parental support. Some may suggest that the reason for so many teen births is because of the reality show 16 pregnant and the media. This could be true because of the way that they glamourize being pregnant. Young girls will look up to them and want to become like them. Another source shows that the show is a form of birth control to some girls. Some believe that what they see the moms go through is just another indication of why they shouldn t become pregnant. Some things shown on the show will make you not want to become pregnant at such a young age. Still having to go through high school and deal with pregnancy hormones is a lot to handle. Then, having to deal with the baby s father walking out is very stressful. Most young men who get young girls pregnant flee when they re told the news. • 4. Situation Analysis Market Research Situation Analysis Market Research Dirty Deeds Incorporated is a for profit home cleaning service that was created by six entrepreneurs on July 7, 2005. In order to differentiate Dirty Deed Inc. s cleaning service from their competitors, they are implementing a risquГ© alternative. Dirty Deeds Inc. will be targeting single men and women over the age of 18 in need of domestic cleaning services and desiring discreet adult entertainment. Teams of at least two men and/or women dressed in sexy lingerie will conduct all cleaning services. The company has strict provisions in place to ensure that the services offered will always remain tasteful and in accordance with all federal, state, and county laws. The creators of Dirty Deeds Inc.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Licensing will also be more difficult to obtain, since adult entertainment is involved. These additional fees as well as the additional talent required will cause Dirty Deeds prices to be higher than traditional cleaning services. Another weakness is that Tucson s older population may be more conservative than anticipated which may cause them to reject the service. The last weakness is there may be a staff shortage during the summer and holiday months when college students are out of town. Not having employees to clean houses means less productivity and profitability. Among the external opportunities that Dirty Deeds may enjoy are that this type of service has never been offered in Tucson before. If the service is widely accepted, the company can be very profitable. Furthermore, Tucson s diverse population is consistently expanding which offers a growing customer base. Dirty Deeds may also be able to utilize the new ideas that today s college student have to offer. Applying new concepts to current cleaning methods will boost Dirty Deeds Inc. reputation as an innovative cleaning company. Since customer satisfaction is guaranteed, clients will likely refer Dirty Deeds Inc. to their friends which may also contribute to an increased workflow. Description of the Logistical Practice To better understand how the Kiva System works, one needs to understand how the need for the Kiva System was created. Warehouses play an important role in the supply chain from the manufacturer to the consumer. They serve as giant pick and packing centers. The product comes in usually in large pallets that are sold in bulk, but then they are broken down and either repackaged or organized to be stored at the warehouse. These distribution centers are considered cost centers because the work done at the facility add no inherent value to the product (Kamarthi). This means that all the cost is being placed on the company and not the consumer because it adds no value to the product. This would mean that it is really important for a company to keep the operational costs at a minimum by improving the accuracy of the distribution center high. The process of filling and order in a distribution center requires a few people, pickers, sorters, and packers. This means that a lot of money is tied up to labor. This is also an allusion to another Alice in the fantasy world but that book was written by Lewis Carroll and the name of that novel is Alice Adventures in Wonderland. • 30. The Ideas Of Einstein And Freud Mr. Schneiders World History Kyndall Roberts Feb. 12, 2015 Section 1: Question 3: The ideas of Einstein and Freud were revolutionary because of how they shaped faith of reasoning and science. Einstein shook the ideas and laws that Isaac Newton had formerly created about motion and gravity. In 1905, Albert Einstein came up with the theory of relativity, which stated that although the speed of light is constant, other things like space and time are not. He believed that speed and time can change when it is measured relatively to an object moving near the speed of light about 186,000 miles/hour. These ideas had implications not only for science, but for the world. There was uncertainty and relativity that replaced the sense of security that came with Isaac Newton s laws. Einstein and Isaac s point of views were very different. Sigmund Freud had ideas that were as revolutionary as Einstein s. Freud treated psychology patients. From his experiences, he constructed a theory about the human mind. He came up with the idea that a part of the human mind is irrational, but it is now called the unconscious. In the unconscious, many drives existed, such as pleasure seeking drives that the conscious mind was unaware of. Freud s ideas actually weakened faith in reasoning. By the 1920 s, Freud s ideas had developed widespread influence. Question 4: Literature in the 1920 s was affected by World War 1.
