Cubism And Post-Impressionism And The Movements That...
The movements that greatly influenced the sexualization of woman would be Cubism and Post
Impressionism. This theme is based on the idea that female nudity is the most popular convention that
promotes the topic of sexuality in art. As well as the idea that a lot can be said and taught about
feminism while looking at the tradition of female nudity in different artworks. The social construct of
how the different genders (male and female) are portrayed in Modern paintings is another very
complex topic that is emphasized in these two pieces. For example, women are given certain
expectations and ideas of how they should behave. One thing that is not so prominent in the theme
would be how the sexualation of woman could be less than offensive and how at this time it actually
was more based on a woman s fertility and maternity than anything. The role of gender and sexuality
in modern art is very prominent in paintings that come from Paul Cezanne and Pablo Picasso.
However, Cezanne returned to the traditional way of sexualizing nude female figures, while Picasso
put his own twist on the subject matter.
Paul Cezanne touched on this topic in his 1906 oil painting The Large Bathers. This piece influenced
many Modern Artists, especially Pablo Picasso. This life size painting is an unfinished piece that
features fourteen naked women on a riverbank. Cezanne intentionally sexualized the woman in his
painting by painting them nude, not to carry a freight of meaning, but rather,

The Importance Of Technology For Classroom Communication
The Importance of Technology for Classroom Communication
I have always thought that good communication is a vital part of succeeding. With all the technology
the world has to offer today there are more than enough ways to create exceptional communication
between people. In order to understand someone there needs to be good communication. To have a
relationship, business or personal, there must be good communication. For someone to put their trust
in another person, there should be good communication. Before technology, the only real way to have
a conversation with anyone was face to face. Now, I m not saying communicating with someone in
person is unnecessary, because it very much is, however, this day and age we are lucky enough that we
don t have to wait for a convenient time to talk to someone. Let s face it, as a teacher there is no
convenient time. According to Holcomb, Castek, and Johnson, it is important to keep classroom
teachings current with the present day (2007). This is where technology and its importance comes into
play for teacher and student/parent communication.
Why Teacher/Parent Communication is Important
Teachers not only work with children, they work with children s parents as well. Having good
communication between both the student and their parents is very important. As previously
mentioned, good communication leads to success, which means part of being a good teacher is having
good communication. If a teacher is not good with communicating this can

Theme Of Death In Romeo And Juliet
In those times, family s hatred towards another family could go to the extent of seeing their children s
death. Romeo and Juliet s death was caused due to their family s continued hatred, fate and the lover s
actons themselves. Due to Romeo and Juliet s family hatred, they had to find a way to stay with their
love but fate played a role of putting them in their death beds instead. In the play Romeo and Juliet,
the main cause for the lover s death was by their family hatred. The two families, Capulets and
Montagues were at war with each other where the two lovers could not admit their love to their
families at that point. The family hatred caused the lovers to figure out other ways that would lead
them to have a beautiful life with one another which could never work out. On the other hand, Juliet s

Persuasive Speech On Surveillance
ppose you re walking home one night, alone, and you decide to take a shortcut through a dark alley.
You make it halfway through, when suddenly you hear some drunks stumbling behind you. Some of
them are shouting curses. They look large and powerful, and there are several of them. Nonetheless,
you feel safe, because you know someone is watching.
You know this because you live in the future where surveillance is universal, ubiquitous and
unavoidable. Governments and large corporations have spread cameras, microphones and other
tracking devices all across the globe, and they also have the capacity to store and process oceans of
surveillance data in real time. Big Brother not only watches your sex life, he analyses it. It sounds
nightmarish but it might be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of blanket bans in dangerous research areas, we could allow research to proceed and use
surveillance to catch bad actors and bad practices. We might even see an increase in academic
freedom.
Surveillance could also be useful in smaller, more conventional disasters. Knowing where everyone in
a city was at the moment an earthquake struck would make rescue services much more effective, and
the more cameras around when hurricanes hit, the better. Over time, all of this footage would increase
our understanding of disasters, and help us to mitigate their effects.
Indeed, there are whole new bodies of research that could emerge from the data provided by mass
surveillance. Instead of formulating theories and laboriously recruiting a biased and sometimes
unwilling group for testing, social scientists, economists and epidemiologists could use surveillance
data to test their ideas. And they could do itFROM HOME , immediately, and have access to the world
s entire population. Many theories could be rapidly confirmed or discarded, with great benefit to
society. The panopticon would be a research

The Importance Of School Students In High School
In this essay I will argue that high school I will argue that high school students not let people around
them influence them to enroll into college right after their high school career because it often leads to
wasted money, long term financial issues, including stress and many other factors that come with long
term effects. Many parents pressure their teenagers to start choosing colleges to enroll into while they
are juniors and seniors in high school, and sometimes even children who are still in elementary school.
Many of these teenagers do not even know what their choice of major would be, or have no clue what
a major is. It takes a significant amount of time to explore the different types of majors and programs
that would be accessible at certain colleges. For example one school may have a dermatology
program, while another school may not even offer that program at all, which means a person may have
to consider looking at a different institution.
Teenagers only make decisions based off of the approval of those people that have the biggest impact
or influence on them. This is not a good choice because most of the time the decision is not theirs and
they realize this later on down the road when it is a little too late, leading to wasted money. The
average family earns about $70,000, which is less than the average expenses of a general college
student who is paying out of pocket for books, cost of attendance, etc. This gives an ideal many
middle class families will go

A Study Area Is The Region Of The U.s. Lake
A study area is the region of the U.S. Lake States, including Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In
the region, about 27% of the estimated 20.8 million people reside in rural areas. Over 96% of the lands
are considered as rural areas. Traditionally, the region had economically dependent on natural resource
extraction and related low skill manufacturing industries (Hamilton et al., 2008). However, such
industries are recently weakened by globalization and rising policies on protection of natural
resources. Consequently, tourism based industries that depend on managed public lands not only
protecting natural resources, but also providing recreational opportunities have been considered as
important alternatives for local economic growth. Thus, an investigation of the relative impacts of
economic structures on income distribution can broaden our understanding of the role of each
economic industry in the distributional aspects of gateway communities.
There is no definitive way to define the gateway communities. In this study, I partly follow a method
for Sphere of Influence of gateway communities suggested by the M3West study (Hester, 2013). He
used a travel distance that is measured by predefined buffer distance for recreational commuting from
gateway communities to public lands. Thus, I first collect public land data (see figure 1). Then, I use a
sensitivity analysis to select an appropriate travel distance for recreational commuting based on 5, 10,
and 15 mile buffer. From

Analysis Of Shane Koyczan And Many Artists
To this day is a spoken word poem and video illustration by Shane Koyczan and many artists. It was
created in 2013 with the purpose of effectively spreading the convincing message that bullying is a
real and serious thing that is too often dismissed as normal and not acted upon as the serious thing it
is. 2013 was shortly after the new large push against bullying which is likely one large reason as to the
creation and popularity of this work. However even with the anti bullying movement it would not
have become popular if it was not in itself an effective piece at conveying its own point against
bullying and contributing to the cause. Koyczan made his piece so successful by successfully using
ethos and pathos to make hard hitting grounded points to his purpose. He also used small amounts of
logos but it was not a majorly effective part of his piece. Ethos is the way the writer creates a persona
that allows the audience to see them as trustworthy, relatable, knowledgeable, and as someone with
authority. Then uses these to convince an audience of their point. This is use of ethos effectively done
in the creation of koyczan s poem to this day . He shows his reliability and knowledge to the viewer
by showing them that he has personal experience with the main topic. He tells the story of his pain
when he was bullied and how simple name calling left lasting effects on him personally. This not only
lets the viewer see that he has a reliable viewpoint, it shows that he has

Involvement of Parents in Their Child s Development
Project Part 3
For a working woman, maternity leave is a standard part of giving birth. Physically, the new mother
needs that time to recover from the birthing process, but there is an emotional reason, too. Experts
preach over and over that for those first few weeks of a baby s life, it needs the interaction and touch
of its mother to help with bonding to start their development on the right track. Shouldn t the father be
part of that process as well? Shouldn t the father of the new child be able to take paternity leave from
work? I believe they should, not only to bond with the child, but to help the mother with her recovery
and to coordinate visitors, appointments and any errands that may be needed. Some ... Show more

Friends, relatives, and neighbors alike all want to see the new bundle of joy. Some may want to cook
dinner for the new family and having the father home on paternity leave would help take this stress off
the new mother. When the mother is sleeping or caring for the child, the father could coordinate with
everyone wanting to visit so that the new family is not bombarded with everyone at once. A mother
having to deal with her own recovery as well as caring for the child could easily get overwhelmed
dealing with all the requests. On top of coordinating visitors, the father could manage the doctor s
appointments or errands to get supplies. Some mothers are on medication after birth and shouldn t
drive, not to mention that most new mothers don t want to take their newborn to a grocery store in
those first few weeks. Besides the obvious benefit to a child s development, paternity leave is
beneficial to the family as well. Research has shown that in families that the father takes paternity
leave, fewer divorces occur. This helps the family by strengthening it and not having the father only
play the role of being the primary bread winner. This creates a happy family, which extends to the
workplace as well. One might think there would be

All Fall Down Themes
I know my last review was all about the book of my dreams and whatnot, but All Fall Down was
basically an element of reality that I m quite close to and the best that imagination can offer and it s
made me wonder Why weren t you creative enough to dream that up, Jess? Now I don t want to get
ahead of myself here, seeing as it s only January and all, but that may have been the best book I ve
read in a long while. Alright, so since last week. But as you can see, I m rather smitten by this book.
Because it combined a concept that I know all too well about together with the joys of the thriller
genre and an ounce of conspiracy. We all know that I m weak with the contemporary. Truthfully, I m
weak with all contemporaries but one. While I detest those sob fests (I can t connect) that are meant to
mirror life and all its imperfections and whatnot, I adore contemporary thrillers. Because I like murder
tales. Not the murder (oh joy, here s my murder disclaimer once again. I don t like murder. I m just
interested by the thrill of the chase for justice.) Ally Carter does something that has yet to be ... Show

Russian men. While we got both elements in this one, Alexei completely whisked me away. Brother s

Arguments Of Proponents And Opponents Of The Safe And...
After presenting the arguments of proponents and opponents of the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling
Act. This paper will now analyze each issue to determine the strengths and weakness of each side s
argument. One argument that proponents make about genetically modified food is that they are no
different than natural foods. An argument that opponents make is that genetically modified organisms
have not been tested enough because they are fairly new and some scientist truly don t have an
understanding of how it will affect humans bodies differently than natural foods. Proponents argue
that genetically engineered foods have no needs for labeling; it would lead to consumer confusion.
Opponents argue that consumers have the right to know what is in the foods they are eating and
supporting.
Analysis and evaluation of proponent s evidence
The analysis and evaluation the proponent s use for of the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act come
from many scientific organizations and governmental organizations. Proponents believe that it is more
important to try to feed the world, and solve world hunger than it is to worry about labeling
genetically engineered foods. Since their argument is about how genetically engineered foods should
not have a labeling requirement due to the fact these foods are no different it would essentially cause
more confusion to the public. Some studies conducted by the companies producing the biotech crops
like Monsanto, did not show any negative effects on mice

to establishing networks. In addition, this paper will cover the network architecture and the standards
that must be address prior, during and finalization of a network. Before we can build any type of
network, we must understand the network technology concepts and how to apply them to a network.
By establishing a foundation to build upon, require checks and balances in order to have a successful

The peer to peer network is a type of network that does not use dedicated network servers for logging
in users or providing secure access to network resources. This type of network lets clients share
resources and have access to whatever they are sharing (i.e. printers). This type of network would be
an excellent choice for small businesses with less than 10 employees because it enables them to share
resources from their computer. These resources can be files, printers, and Internet connections. This
type of network is a cost effective solution due to having less management or support from outside
experts. This type of network setup and usage is simple, but it is less secure and be vulnerable to
security breaches. The second network is the client server network, which does use a dedicated server.
It uses the dedicated server to centralize users and manage group accounts. In a client server network,
the server controls access to the resources to the other computers on the network and clients do not
talk directly to one another (West, Dean, Andrews, 2015). Users at a client or workstation log on to the
server using their own accounts and passwords. The users can only access resources that they were
given permission for. This type of network is used for larger businesses to meet complex and
challenging needs. This type of network has the potential to grow as the business grows. But, this can

The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three, by Stephen King
The second tale in the epic series The Dark Tower begins with a signature Stephen King prologue; all
goes to hell in the protagonist s world before the book even properly starts. In the case of The Dark
Tower, said protagonist role is filled by none other than Roland Deschain, the wild west gunslinger
from a postapocalyptic world (currently Mid World ) not unlike our own. Roland begins the tale alone,
his most recent companion a prepubescent boy, John Jake Chambers, from our own New York set in

gunslinger come across harder times, and even less often to blame on none other than his own
thoughtlessness. Regardless, one must go on, and so he does, opening the door to Gods only know
what kind of world, awaiting his task.
This door leads to the mind of Eddie Dean, a heroin addict also from our New York, 1986. Eddie is in
the middle of attempting to smuggle pounds of cocaine through an airport, to exchange for large
amounts of heroin. Roland s understanding stretches as far as nobody is supposed to know what Eddie
has strapped under his shirt. Roland however, is close to death himself, and manages to use Eddie to
get food and a bottle of water back to his own world. Later he also brings Eddie into his world while
everyone on the plane thinks he went to the bathroom. They hide the cocaine there temporarily, and
Eddie returns to the plane clean as a whistle, and manages to pass customs.
Eddie makes it to his exchange point, and tells the mob boss he can produce the cocaine and explain
why he was late, as long as he has privacy for just a second. Henchmen give Eddie a full cavity search

Comparing Marie Clements s The Unnatural And Accidental Women
Between 1965 and 1988 Gilbert Paul Jordan was linked to the murders of ten women of aboriginal
dissent. Marie Clements play The Unnatural and Accidental Women puts a fictional account to the
realistic murders of the aboriginal women in Vancouver. During the original murders the large
misunderstanding and misinterpretation around aboriginal culture caused the murders of the women to
be ignored, the women themselves to be viewed as invisible, or the murders to be deemed not
important or accidental . In her play Clements recreates the original murders of the boozing barber ,
Gilbert Paul Jordan, however in the play she creates an identity for the murdered women that was not

One of the most important aspects that Sharon Sullivan highlights in her article about the play is how
its surrealism allows for the focus to be on the women, and not the killings. Clements decentres the act
of murder by focusing on the experiences and actions of the women before and after death,
emphasizing their individuality and the possibility of redemption. (Sullivan, 68) The film, however,
nullifies any attempt by the play to humanize these women, for it cuts out the witty dialogues between
the women, portraying them only as they are represented in the media, as alcoholics, prostitutes, and
victims. The movie places the murder and Rebecca, Aunt Shadie s Daughter, at the center of the plot
line and completely erases the side stories of the murdered aboriginal women. While the screenplay is
also written by Marie Clements, it dehumanizes the women by stripping them of their identity and
turning their stories back into a classic Hollywood horror

Social Tensions In Remember The Titans
The setting for the movie Remember the Titans is post April of 1971 significant because that is when
the United States Supreme Court issued a ruling that ended all state imposed segregation in public

desegregated, and the film starring Denzel Washington as head football coach deals with these cultural
and social tensions. He s an African American who is replacing a previously white coach. Now, social

Why Did The Big Bang Happen
Energy cannot be created or destroyed so how did the Universe or anything start. There is a theory that
is called the Big Bang. There is a lot of evidence the Big Bang exploding. There are a lot of questions
that have not been answered yet. Also there is a lot of the Universe that has not been explored yet.
The most recent saying of the Big Bang is that it exploded. The Big Bang was a little dot somewhere
in the universe. In the middle of the dot there was a lot of heat. It was really hot that the people that
study the big bang say that it exploded because of the heat that was in the middle. They are also saying
that that space is what it is expanding. People who study the Big Bang say that there is something out

The Struggle for Power and Authority
The development and use of power and authority are two of the basic concepts that indwell mankind.
The two novels Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies both have main characters that uniquely manifest
these attributes. Napoleon and Jack approach discipline in a dictorial manner by using intimidation,
propaganda and fear while Snowball and Ralph apply a more democratic method when dealing with
the animals. Napoleon and Snowball have different techniques and values on how leadership in life
should be conducted. This is also true in Lord of the Flies in the conflict between Ralph and Jack.
Throughout the novel it is evident that the theme between Democracy and Dictatorship is always
present. Animal Farm is a perfect example of this. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No animal shall kill any other animals 7. All animals are equal (Orwell, pg 17) Abuse is frequently
present throughout history, as George Orwell the author of Animal Farm illustrates in his dystopian
allegorical story. It mimics the social structure of life in the communist era when Joseph Stalin ruled
the USSR with an iron fist. Joseph Stalin, a communist leader, ruled Russia with an iron fist from
1933 until his death in 1953. He cared more about his power than he did about human life. During
Stalin s reign, 12 million Russians lost their lives. Many were murdered by government forces; many
died from starvation and overwork. (George Orwell fights the power) Therefore this is why Orwell
understood that it was not leading to equality for all. At the beginning of the novel one of the
characters is directly modeled on the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. His name is Napoleon and
becomes known as an utterly corrupt opportunist. Napoleon did not make a distinct contribution to the
revolution not to the formulation of its ideology, not to the bloody struggle that it necessitates, or even
not to the new society s initial attempts to establish itself. He under no circumstances shows any
interest in the strength of the farm but, simply the strength of his supremacy over it. As a result, the
only project he commences with passion is the training of the new born puppies. Napoleon does not

Corruption And Reform In The Gilded Age
What is it like in the late 1800s and early 1900s? Well, during the late 1800s and early 1900s, United
States faced political issues of corruption and reform in the Gilded Age. At that period of time,
millions of immigrants started to arrive representing many cultures. Also, as millions of people moved
into the cities, new developments created city growth and caused new challenges. In addition, because
of immigrants, ideas were reformed and sociology was developed. According to the Modern American
History textbook, the Gilded Age is a term coined by Mark Twain. This term suggested that there was
a glittering layer of prosperity that covered the poverty and corruption that existed in much of society.

communities. After sitting down and getting to interview a fellow classmate about their cultural
experiences, it was very surprising to me how different someone s upbringing can be from my own.
Julia gave me an amazing interview, she and I have very similar upbringings, but we are very different
in some of our cultural beliefs. Julia Kemp differs from my cultural beliefs in our look on politics, our
family traditions, our involvement based on gender, and our religious beliefs. One of the differences I
discovered early on was our political belief.
Growing up, I was from North Topeka and was exposed to a very conservative community, so
naturally that is where my beliefs fell. My parents also had a huge influence on my beliefs politically,
considering they were both raised republican. My dad made it a point to teach me about politics and to
explain to me why he believed what he did. Some things that I believe very strongly in are limited
government and the lowering of taxes to promote companies to make more jobs for individuals. I have
also always aligned with Pro Life beliefs from not only my political beliefs but also my religious
beliefs. Julia however has a very different outlook. Julia

The Cyber Security Risks Report
SQLinjection is a kind of attack that occurs through insertion or injection of a SQL query from the
input data of the client to the application for repelling the database information even though the
database is not directly connected with the internet. Jeff Orieff (2015) explained that the top Cyber
Security Risks report revealed that over 60% of the Internet attacks were launched against Web
Applications. Many IT Managers, Web Developers, and site owners are not aware of the threats in
their web applications.Important changes that took place to the list are its focus being shifted from the
top vulnerabilities to top risks. Organizations are aware of the risk, but they lack complete knowledge
in the list of methods that describes and explains the risk. SQL Injection works to make the risk much
more clear. Two risks were dropped from this update: Malicious File Execution due to tighter PHP
security lowering the prevalence of this problem, and Information Leakage and Improper Error
Handling because of a zed impact of disclosing stack trace that is minimal and the error message
information. The list of attacks that occur from the SQL injection attacks are Injection:SQL Injection
flaws are SQL, HTTP header injection, OS command injections. The attacks occur when unauthorized
data, query, command or arguments is sent to an interpreter. Vulnerable applications can be triggered
because of the unintended arguments or accepting the attacker to access the data and modifying the

Visual Textual Analysis
Each of the stimuli I selected was due to something in the image or video that drew my attention. The
first image referenced as Sunset attracted my focus due to the color and the dark contrast of the boy
and tree standing out against the background. The advertisement deemed Human caught my attention
because of the complexity of the picture. There are so many components to the picture interacting with
each other. The bodies and the actual text overlap constantly causing me to attend to it longer. Unlike
Sunset the color in Human is very subdued, but the orientation of the different bodies makes it
interesting. The Mountain Dew commercial aired during the Super Bowl this year, and its very weird.

For a computer, the lack of distinct borders would also make it hard to distinguish one structure or
object from the other.
This picture is actually a great example of multiple Gestalt principles. The cars moving from right to
left demonstrate the principle common fate. They can quickly be determined as cars driving on the
road. Even thought the actual road isn t completely visible from this angle, due to the cars obvious
movement it is easy for the observer s brain to assume a road is there.
Proximity is also used to process what is going on in this picture. The sign at the forefront of this
picture reading EPCC can be understood using proximity. The letters are all very close together and
are placed in front of a solid green background. This suggests that those letters all actually belong to
one sign and one word.
The lines of cars that are occasionally obstructed from the observer s view by other objects are
visually understood using continuation. Even though the cars are cut into portions, as observers we are
able to recognize and understand the cars are in fact whole and intact behind the object that obstructs

A Love Story in E.M Forster’sA Room with a View
E.M Forster s, A Room with a view, focuses on the love story and development of Lucy Honeychurch
who is torn between the expectations of the world in which she moves and the passionate yearning of
her heart. Although, A Room with a View largely explores the idea of deciding between true love and
meeting the expectations of behaviour and beliefs of the society, the novel also follows Lucy s coming
of age. The conflict between social convention and true love is shown through the comparison of Lucy
s love for George which is completely unacceptable according to social standards and her match with
Cecil which is far more conventional. On the other hand, the novel also focuses on the development of
Lucy and and how she matures into a young women with the help of Mr. Emerson, and George.
Hence, while choosing between true love and social etiquette is the central focus of the novel, Lucy s
coming of age is also an important theme in the book.
Throughout the novel, Forster emphasises on the social mores of the british society placed upon Lucy
of having a socially acceptable marriage with Cecil in comparison to her unconventional marriage
with George. Lucy decides to marry Cecil at first, to please the society and her family especially her
mother Mrs. Honeychurch who values the prevailing social definitions of respectability as Foster
display her contentment through her likeness of Cecil marrying her daughter because of his
considerable social connections. She enumerates Cecil s

The Fox
The wind whipped down the quiet, darkened street, rustling the decorative trees that lined the seldom
used road, it tugged at decorative neighborhood banners and blew branches to and fro overhead,
causing their shadows to seem like grasping claws as they danced across the brick facing of the
apartment buildings he passed by. He shuddered and pulled his trench coat closed, the grip on his brief
case tightening. The fox moved swiftly, a paranoid air about him as he tried to keep a low profile, not
look behind him, simply wanting to reach his contact, hand off the info and go home to his wife and
child. His eyes caught something as it flickered overhead, he looked up and swallowed nervously, his
pulse quickening, then in that same moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few cars jostling on their axles as he glanced left, then right as he heard a slow almost teasing
groaning and grinding noise, as if something was being compacted just around the corner. His hand
reached for the simple Five Seven standard issue pistol he kept on his person as he darted around the
corner. Nothing, no machinery, but the horror hit him, the sign of a car, compacted into its parking
spot, a gigantic feminine paw print surrounded it leaving a perfect shape in the reinforced concrete. A
body oozed from the side of the vehicle as if they were the contents of a crushed ketchup package; on
the crumpled hood was a heart with a smiley face in the middle, doodled in the poor soul s blood. He
swallowed, and shook his head, that fragrance still with him, this wasn t happening. He eyed the car
again, gone, the blood stains and grisly image were gone. He slapped his cheek trying to focus. Just
tired...nervous Vincent, keep moving, keep moving man! His pace quickened, and the dull thud filled
his ears again, as if it were everywhere, unable to be pin pointed and never deviating from its unseen
course. It was as if something was toying with him, following him, and it couldn t be a simple trick of
the mind. His heart was now a jackhammer in his chest, the blood pumped by its panicked beating

Aspiration Pneumoniis
Aspiration is known as the inhalation of taking material into the lungs as well as gastric contents or
oropharyngeal into the airways. Aspiration usually leads to serious complications such as aspiration
pneumonia, which is an infectious process from aspiration of oropharyngeal contents. Aspiration
pneumonitis is direct chemical lung injury from the aspirated material. Most often it cannot be
distinguished clinically or radiographically from aspiration pneumonia.
During aspiration, the normal swallowing process can be disrupted. A bacterium enters the lungs
following aspiration of oropharyngeal material that contains a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic
bacteria. Most healthy adults who are in a situation to aspirate infection doesn t usually

Argumentative Essay On Conscription In Australia
The Great War was known as the war to end all wars as it had such a dramatic and tragic impact on
soldiers and civilians alike. Many aspects of the conscription debate, the home front, trench warfare
and weaponry had a significant impact on Australia and its involvement in the war.
In conclusion, there were many changes that occurred to soldiers and civilians as a result of the Great
War. The aspects of trench warfare and weaponry, women on the home front and conscription played a
significant role in changing soldiers and civilians throughout the war.
Nothing was more divisive than the conscription debate in Australia during the First World War. The
highly debated issue of conscription compulsory enlistment for military service, particularly overseas
had a significant effect on Australian society.
Unlike other countries fighting in the war, Australia did not enforce conscription. Its armed forces
relied completely on volunteers and at first there had been more volunteers than the army could
accept. However by mid 1916, when news of casualties of the front began to reach home, support for
the war declined sharply. In 1916, William Morris Hughes returned from inspecting the Western Front
and was convinced that Australia should introduce conscription for the war effort. This led society to
become divided into two major groups, the pro conscriptionists and anti conscriptionists.
Those who argued in favour of conscription included a number of powerful and influential

Bradley Manning In Sociology
Sociology is defined as the study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society
(Webster). If you really look at the things that happen in the society around you, there will be times
that you see things that happened in the news and see a direct correlation with prior sources from the
same issue. For example, Chelsea Manning, also known as Bradley Manning, who has been released
from prison after receiving a pardon from Former President Barack Obama. Manning was placed in a
prison barracks at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas serving a 35 year sentence for WikiLeaks of classified
United States military documents (The New York Times) While she has been issued a pardon, there
have been several issues that have led her to that pardon.
Manning was initially placed in Fort Leavenworth where she could have served a 90 year sentence.
However, the judge was very lenient to only sentence her to 35 years, despite the jury wanting to see

Manning taking her own life while being held in a military prison, Former President Obama decide it
would be in the best interest to allow the early release. However, a name that was not on the list to be
pardoned was one of the largest leakers, known as Edward J. Snowden. Mr. Snowden was a former
intelligence contractor who leaked out archives of top secret surveillance files (The New York Times).
Snowden is currently in Russia, living as a fugitive. What is the reasoning behind allowing Manning a
pardon, but not Snowden when they both committed the same level of crime? Manning was released
based on her mental health status being lessened each day that she lived her life in solitary
confinement, ultimately soon to lead to a successful suicide had she not been given the pardon.
Snowden on the other hand fled the country and found refuge in another country, which has extended
his stay until 2020 or longer (The New York Times). Snowden also released data which was much
more severe than that of

The Importance Of Premarital Sexual Intercourse
In an increasingly secular American society, the traditional value of sexual abstinence until marriage
has become obsolete. Movies, music, and media glorify promiscuous behavior, and people are putting
off marriage until later in life. As American culture continues to shift towards a romanticized view of
premarital sexual intercourse, one ought to ask his or herself if this is truly a morally permissible act.
Personally, I find this behavior alarming, and in this essay, I hope to persuade readers as to why
premarital sexual intercourse should not be accepted or encouraged. I will begin by criticizing a
typical modus tollens argument pro premarital sexual intercourse advocates often present. Next, I will
defend my claim that the presented argument is unsound by providing an equivalent example. I will
then address a possible objection to my stance, and I will overcome this objection by examining a few
of the numerous negative consequences to premarital sexual intercourse. The pro premarital sexual
intercourse argument is as follows:
1) If premarital sexual intercourse is morally impermissible for adults, then it is reasonable to prohibit
premarital sexual intercourse for adults (given what we know about the growth and development of
young men and women).
2) It is not reasonable to prohibit premarital sexual intercourse for adults (given what we know about
the growth and development of young men and women).
3) So, it is not the case that premarital sexual intercourse is

Theme Of Identity In The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
One thing all human beings, have in common is the struggle for self identity. Children are raised by
parents or guardians who have struggled and fought for their own identities. In many cases, parents
are still trying to figure it out, while raising their own children. Such is the case with the characters in
Junot Diaz s, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The theme of identity is conveyed through the
characters Dominican culture, social standing, and in finding love. Oscar, Lola, and Yunior are three
central characters in Oscar Wao, who s Dominican cultural and family expectations were major
obstacles as they struggled to establish their identity. Yunior represents the stereotypical Dominican
male raised in the states, yet he battles with self definition as he comes to terms with who he is on the
inside as opposed to who he is purportedly supposed to be on the outside. According to the Dominican
culture, males are the picture of masculinity, known for their womanizing ways. The central conflict
within Yunior is his love for the Dominican social norm versus his love for the things in his life that
represented nerdiness. Yunior lifted weights and ran to keep himself physically fit and was sexually
promiscuous, at the same time, he enjoyed and engaged in nerdy banter with Oscar about science
fiction genre, anime, fantasy and even writing. Yunior and Oscar share the same interests, which
Yunior would never admit to anyone else, which is clear when Yunior says,

How Does Shakespeare Present Gender Stereotypes In Macbeth
How Shakespeare reinforces or challenges gender stereotypes Macbeth
Shakespeare delves in to the gender expectation of characters in his plays. He tends to play with the
expectations and stereotypes of gender. He challenges and conforms to these expectations through
characters and their personalities. Shakespeare does this to provoke his audiences understanding of
what gender roles are. These gender roles are displayed through Macduff, Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth.
The gender stereotype of what constitutes a real man is displayed perfectly by Shakespeare in this
scene. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is said to be a valiant soldier that has won the battle for
them. The king congratulates him along with the army of men which also commend him on his duties.
King Duncan is told by the Captain brave Macbeth well he deserves that name . The captain then says
with his brandished steel... unseamed him from the nave to the th chops further complimenting

Stereotypically, a man is displayed as emotionless and immune to pain. They do not express their
feelings and are strong. In this scene, Shakespeare, has thoroughly challenged this. Macduff is
displayed as courageous man with no fear, this is reinforced by Duncan himself Front to front Bring
thou this fiend of Scotland and myself. Within my sword s length set him . Here Shakespeare is
challenging the gender stereotype of what a man of integrity is, He has done this by making a man of
his stature cry, allowing him to be emotional and sensitive. Something that was not of the norms in

The Prisoner of War Ethic
Early on in the semester, I have found that Chapter 12 has been one of the more intriguing sections to
read. After deciding on a topic for the paper, I combed the book for interesting topics that could relate
to the prisoner of war ethic. In many ways I started my journey with Chapter 12; making it all the
more fitting that I end here as well.
Chapter 12 and the section on Prima Facie Duties cover a good range of personal subjects. This
chapter espouses the ideal that communication is not confined to national or even international
borders. Kales Human Nature, for example, proposes the importance of the human spirit over cultural
boundaries. Though it is not easy, we must communicate with others in a way that does not reflect
back on our own biases and stereotypes in other forms of intercultural communication. And I am
personally fascinated by the concept of moral exclusion. The ability to which we are able to extend
rights to other people is reflective of where they lie in our sphere of moral consideration, I believe.
One of the eight stages of genocide dehumanization comes to mind. As the book notes, this
dehumanization is reflected in communication. Communication, such as propaganda, that lowers the
status of others exemplifies this dehumanization.
We have a tremendous capacity, to turn people into less than us, and once you do that, you can justify
a hell of a lot of awfulness. Greg Pirmann
I recall reading a book recently by Roderick Frazier Nash called The

  • 2. Cubism And Post-Impressionism And The Movements That... The movements that greatly influenced the sexualization of woman would be Cubism and Post Impressionism. This theme is based on the idea that female nudity is the most popular convention that promotes the topic of sexuality in art. As well as the idea that a lot can be said and taught about feminism while looking at the tradition of female nudity in different artworks. The social construct of how the different genders (male and female) are portrayed in Modern paintings is another very complex topic that is emphasized in these two pieces. For example, women are given certain expectations and ideas of how they should behave. One thing that is not so prominent in the theme would be how the sexualation of woman could be less than offensive and how at this time it actually was more based on a woman s fertility and maternity than anything. The role of gender and sexuality in modern art is very prominent in paintings that come from Paul Cezanne and Pablo Picasso. However, Cezanne returned to the traditional way of sexualizing nude female figures, while Picasso put his own twist on the subject matter. Paul Cezanne touched on this topic in his 1906 oil painting The Large Bathers. This piece influenced many Modern Artists, especially Pablo Picasso. This life size painting is an unfinished piece that features fourteen naked women on a riverbank. Cezanne intentionally sexualized the woman in his painting by painting them nude, not to carry a freight of meaning, but rather, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Technology For Classroom Communication The Importance of Technology for Classroom Communication I have always thought that good communication is a vital part of succeeding. With all the technology the world has to offer today there are more than enough ways to create exceptional communication between people. In order to understand someone there needs to be good communication. To have a relationship, business or personal, there must be good communication. For someone to put their trust in another person, there should be good communication. Before technology, the only real way to have a conversation with anyone was face to face. Now, I m not saying communicating with someone in person is unnecessary, because it very much is, however, this day and age we are lucky enough that we don t have to wait for a convenient time to talk to someone. Let s face it, as a teacher there is no convenient time. According to Holcomb, Castek, and Johnson, it is important to keep classroom teachings current with the present day (2007). This is where technology and its importance comes into play for teacher and student/parent communication. Why Teacher/Parent Communication is Important Teachers not only work with children, they work with children s parents as well. Having good communication between both the student and their parents is very important. As previously mentioned, good communication leads to success, which means part of being a good teacher is having good communication. If a teacher is not good with communicating this can ... Romeo and Juliet s death was caused due to their family s continued hatred, fate and the lover s actons themselves. In the play Romeo and Juliet, the main cause for the lover s death was by their family hatred. The two families, Capulets and Montagues were at war with each other where the two lovers could not admit their love to their families at that point. • 5. Persuasive Speech On Surveillance ppose you re walking home one night, alone, and you decide to take a shortcut through a dark alley. You make it halfway through, when suddenly you hear some drunks stumbling behind you. Some of them are shouting curses. They look large and powerful, and there are several of them. Nonetheless, you feel safe, because you know someone is watching. You know this because you live in the future where surveillance is universal, ubiquitous and unavoidable. Governments and large corporations have spread cameras, microphones and other tracking devices all across the globe, and they also have the capacity to store and process oceans of surveillance data in real time. Big Brother not only watches your sex life, he analyses it. It sounds nightmarish but it might be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of blanket bans in dangerous research areas, we could allow research to proceed and use surveillance to catch bad actors and bad practices. We might even see an increase in academic freedom. Surveillance could also be useful in smaller, more conventional disasters. Knowing where everyone in a city was at the moment an earthquake struck would make rescue services much more effective, and the more cameras around when hurricanes hit, the better. Over time, all of this footage would increase our understanding of disasters, and help us to mitigate their effects. Indeed, there are whole new bodies of research that could emerge from the data provided by mass surveillance. Instead of formulating theories and laboriously recruiting a biased and sometimes unwilling group for testing, social scientists, economists and epidemiologists could use surveillance data to test their ideas. And they could do itFROM HOME , immediately, and have access to the world s entire population. Many theories could be rapidly confirmed or discarded, with great benefit to society. • 6. The Importance Of School Students In High School In this essay I will argue that high school I will argue that high school students not let people around them influence them to enroll into college right after their high school career because it often leads to wasted money, long term financial issues, including stress and many other factors that come with long term effects. Many parents pressure their teenagers to start choosing colleges to enroll into while they are juniors and seniors in high school, and sometimes even children who are still in elementary school. Many of these teenagers do not even know what their choice of major would be, or have no clue what a major is. It takes a significant amount of time to explore the different types of majors and programs that would be accessible at certain colleges. For example one school may have a dermatology program, while another school may not even offer that program at all, which means a person may have to consider looking at a different institution. Teenagers only make decisions based off of the approval of those people that have the biggest impact or influence on them. This is not a good choice because most of the time the decision is not theirs and they realize this later on down the road when it is a little too late, leading to wasted money. The average family earns about $70,000, which is less than the average expenses of a general college student who is paying out of pocket for books, cost of attendance, etc. This gives an ideal many middle class families will go ... • 7. A Study Area Is The Region Of The U.s. Lake A study area is the region of the U.S. Lake States, including Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In the region, about 27% of the estimated 20.8 million people reside in rural areas. Over 96% of the lands are considered as rural areas. Traditionally, the region had economically dependent on natural resource extraction and related low skill manufacturing industries (Hamilton et al., 2008). However, such industries are recently weakened by globalization and rising policies on protection of natural resources. Consequently, tourism based industries that depend on managed public lands not only protecting natural resources, but also providing recreational opportunities have been considered as important alternatives for local economic growth. Thus, an investigation of the relative impacts of economic structures on income distribution can broaden our understanding of the role of each economic industry in the distributional aspects of gateway communities. There is no definitive way to define the gateway communities. In this study, I partly follow a method for Sphere of Influence of gateway communities suggested by the M3West study (Hester, 2013). He used a travel distance that is measured by predefined buffer distance for recreational commuting from gateway communities to public lands. Thus, I first collect public land data (see figure 1). Then, I use a sensitivity analysis to select an appropriate travel distance for recreational commuting based on 5, 10, and 15 mile buffer. From ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Analysis Of Shane Koyczan And Many Artists To this day is a spoken word poem and video illustration by Shane Koyczan and many artists. It was created in 2013 with the purpose of effectively spreading the convincing message that bullying is a real and serious thing that is too often dismissed as normal and not acted upon as the serious thing it is. 2013 was shortly after the new large push against bullying which is likely one large reason as to the creation and popularity of this work. However even with the anti bullying movement it would not have become popular if it was not in itself an effective piece at conveying its own point against bullying and contributing to the cause. Koyczan made his piece so successful by successfully using ethos and pathos to make hard hitting grounded points to his purpose. He also used small amounts of logos but it was not a majorly effective part of his piece. Ethos is the way the writer creates a persona that allows the audience to see them as trustworthy, relatable, knowledgeable, and as someone with authority. Then uses these to convince an audience of their point. This is use of ethos effectively done in the creation of koyczan s poem to this day . He shows his reliability and knowledge to the viewer by showing them that he has personal experience with the main topic. He tells the story of his pain when he was bullied and how simple name calling left lasting effects on him personally. This not only lets the viewer see that he has a reliable viewpoint, it shows that he has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Involvement of Parents in Their Child s Development Project Part 3 For a working woman, maternity leave is a standard part of giving birth. Physically, the new mother needs that time to recover from the birthing process, but there is an emotional reason, too. Experts preach over and over that for those first few weeks of a baby s life, it needs the interaction and touch of its mother to help with bonding to start their development on the right track. Shouldn t the father be part of that process as well? Shouldn t the father of the new child be able to take paternity leave from work? I believe they should, not only to bond with the child, but to help the mother with her recovery and to coordinate visitors, appointments and any errands that may be needed. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Friends, relatives, and neighbors alike all want to see the new bundle of joy. Some may want to cook dinner for the new family and having the father home on paternity leave would help take this stress off the new mother. When the mother is sleeping or caring for the child, the father could coordinate with everyone wanting to visit so that the new family is not bombarded with everyone at once. A mother having to deal with her own recovery as well as caring for the child could easily get overwhelmed dealing with all the requests. On top of coordinating visitors, the father could manage the doctor s appointments or errands to get supplies. Some mothers are on medication after birth and shouldn t drive, not to mention that most new mothers don t want to take their newborn to a grocery store in those first few weeks. Besides the obvious benefit to a child s development, paternity leave is beneficial to the family as well. Research has shown that in families that the father takes paternity leave, fewer divorces occur. This helps the family by strengthening it and not having the father only play the role of being the primary bread winner. This creates a happy family, which extends to the workplace as well. All Fall Down Themes I know my last review was all about the book of my dreams and whatnot, but All Fall Down was basically an element of reality that I m quite close to and the best that imagination can offer and it s made me wonder Why weren t you creative enough to dream that up, Jess? Now I don t want to get ahead of myself here, seeing as it s only January and all, but that may have been the best book I ve read in a long while. Alright, so since last week. But as you can see, I m rather smitten by this book. Because it combined a concept that I know all too well about together with the joys of the thriller genre and an ounce of conspiracy. We all know that I m weak with the contemporary. Truthfully, I m weak with all contemporaries but one. While I detest those sob fests (I can t connect) that are meant to mirror life and all its imperfections and whatnot, I adore contemporary thrillers. Because I like murder tales. Not the murder (oh joy, here s my murder disclaimer once again. I don t like murder. I m just interested by the thrill of the chase for justice.) Ally Carter does something that has yet to be ... • 12. Arguments Of Proponents And Opponents Of The Safe And... After presenting the arguments of proponents and opponents of the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act. This paper will now analyze each issue to determine the strengths and weakness of each side s argument. One argument that proponents make about genetically modified food is that they are no different than natural foods. An argument that opponents make is that genetically modified organisms have not been tested enough because they are fairly new and some scientist truly don t have an understanding of how it will affect humans bodies differently than natural foods. Proponents argue that genetically engineered foods have no needs for labeling; it would lead to consumer confusion. Opponents argue that consumers have the right to know what is in the foods they are eating and supporting. Analysis and evaluation of proponent s evidence The analysis and evaluation the proponent s use for of the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act come from many scientific organizations and governmental organizations. Proponents believe that it is more important to try to feed the world, and solve world hunger than it is to worry about labeling genetically engineered foods. Since their argument is about how genetically engineered foods should not have a labeling requirement due to the fact these foods are no different it would essentially cause more confusion to the public. In addition, this paper will cover the network architecture and the standards that must be address prior, during and finalization of a network. Before we can build any type of network, we must understand the network technology concepts and how to apply them to a network. By establishing a foundation to build upon, require checks and balances in order to have a successful network operational. There are many criterions that needs to be set forth and has to be completed in establishing any type of network. The peer to peer network is a type of network that does not use dedicated network servers for logging in users or providing secure access to network resources. This type of network lets clients share resources and have access to whatever they are sharing (i.e. printers). This type of network would be an excellent choice for small businesses with less than 10 employees because it enables them to share resources from their computer. These resources can be files, printers, and Internet connections. This type of network is a cost effective solution due to having less management or support from outside experts. This type of network setup and usage is simple, but it is less secure and be vulnerable to security breaches. The second network is the client server network, which does use a dedicated server. It uses the dedicated server to centralize users and manage group accounts. In a client server network, the server controls access to the resources to the other computers on the network and clients do not talk directly to one another (West, Dean, Andrews, 2015). Users at a client or workstation log on to the server using their own accounts and passwords. The users can only access resources that they were given permission for. This type of network is used for larger businesses to meet complex and challenging needs. This type of network has the potential to grow as the business grows. Analysis Of The Book The Dark Tower II Sam Stone Mr. Mullenberg Credit Recovery 22 December 2016 The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three, by Stephen King The second tale in the epic series The Dark Tower begins with a signature Stephen King prologue; all goes to hell in the protagonist s world before the book even properly starts. In the case of The Dark Tower, said protagonist role is filled by none other than Roland Deschain, the wild west gunslinger from a postapocalyptic world (currently Mid World ) not unlike our own. Marie Clements play The Unnatural and Accidental Women puts a fictional account to the realistic murders of the aboriginal women in Vancouver. During the original murders the large misunderstanding and misinterpretation around aboriginal culture caused the murders of the women to be ignored, the women themselves to be viewed as invisible, or the murders to be deemed not important or accidental . In her play Clements recreates the original murders of the boozing barber , Gilbert Paul Jordan, however in the play she creates an identity for the murdered women that was not shown by the media, police or culture in Vancouver at the time of the original murders. One of the most important aspects that Sharon Sullivan highlights in her article about the play is how its surrealism allows for the focus to be on the women, and not the killings. Clements decentres the act of murder by focusing on the experiences and actions of the women before and after death, emphasizing their individuality and the possibility of redemption. (Sullivan, 68) The film, however, nullifies any attempt by the play to humanize these women, for it cuts out the witty dialogues between the women, portraying them only as they are represented in the media, as alcoholics, prostitutes, and victims. The movie places the murder and Rebecca, Aunt Shadie s Daughter, at the center of the plot line and completely erases the side stories of the murdered aboriginal women. While the screenplay is also written by Marie Clements, it dehumanizes the women by stripping them of their identity and turning their stories back into a classic Hollywood horror ... Social Tensions In Remember The Titans The setting for the movie Remember the Titans is post April of 1971 significant because that is when the United States Supreme Court issued a ruling that ended all state imposed segregation in public schools. T. C. He s an African American who is replacing a previously white coach. Now, social tensions in America when it comes to race are not perfect today; racism still exists but we have come a long way. The two novels Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies both have main characters that uniquely manifest these attributes. Napoleon and Jack approach discipline in a dictorial manner by using intimidation, propaganda and fear while Snowball and Ralph apply a more democratic method when dealing with the animals. Napoleon and Snowball have different techniques and values on how leadership in life should be conducted. This is also true in Lord of the Flies in the conflict between Ralph and Jack. All animals are equal (Orwell, pg 17) Abuse is frequently present throughout history, as George Orwell the author of Animal Farm illustrates in his dystopian allegorical story. It mimics the social structure of life in the communist era when Joseph Stalin ruled the USSR with an iron fist. Joseph Stalin, a communist leader, ruled Russia with an iron fist from 1933 until his death in 1953. He cared more about his power than he did about human life. During Stalin s reign, 12 million Russians lost their lives. Many were murdered by government forces; many died from starvation and overwork. (George Orwell fights the power) Therefore this is why Orwell understood that it was not leading to equality for all. At the beginning of the novel one of the characters is directly modeled on the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. His name is Napoleon and becomes known as an utterly corrupt opportunist. Napoleon did not make a distinct contribution to the revolution not to the formulation of its ideology, not to the bloody struggle that it necessitates, or even not to the new society s initial attempts to establish itself. He under no circumstances shows any interest in the strength of the farm but, simply the strength of his supremacy over it. Well, during the late 1800s and early 1900s, United States faced political issues of corruption and reform in the Gilded Age. At that period of time, millions of immigrants started to arrive representing many cultures. Also, as millions of people moved into the cities, new developments created city growth and caused new challenges. In addition, because of immigrants, ideas were reformed and sociology was developed. In the United States, a baby is born every 12 seconds and an immigrant moves to the States every 33 seconds, yet we sometimes get caught up in our own community and do not realize how many differences we have with, not only people in the United States, but also the people living right in our communities. After sitting down and getting to interview a fellow classmate about their cultural experiences, it was very surprising to me how different someone s upbringing can be from my own. Julia gave me an amazing interview, she and I have very similar upbringings, but we are very different in some of our cultural beliefs. Julia Kemp differs from my cultural beliefs in our look on politics, our family traditions, our involvement based on gender, and our religious beliefs. One of the differences I discovered early on was our political belief. Growing up, I was from North Topeka and was exposed to a very conservative community, so naturally that is where my beliefs fell. My parents also had a huge influence on my beliefs politically, considering they were both raised republican. My dad made it a point to teach me about politics and to explain to me why he believed what he did. Some things that I believe very strongly in are limited government and the lowering of taxes to promote companies to make more jobs for individuals. Although, A Room with a View largely explores the idea of deciding between true love and meeting the expectations of behaviour and beliefs of the society, the novel also follows Lucy s coming of age. Many aspects of the conscription debate, the home front, trench warfare and weaponry had a significant impact on Australia and its involvement in the war. In conclusion, there were many changes that occurred to soldiers and civilians as a result of the Great War. The aspects of trench warfare and weaponry, women on the home front and conscription played a significant role in changing soldiers and civilians throughout the war. Nothing was more divisive than the conscription debate in Australia during the First World War. The highly debated issue of conscription compulsory enlistment for military service, particularly overseas had a significant effect on Australian society. Unlike other countries fighting in the war, Australia did not enforce conscription. Its armed forces relied completely on volunteers and at first there had been more volunteers than the army could accept. However by mid 1916, when news of casualties of the front began to reach home, support for the war declined sharply. In 1916, William Morris Hughes returned from inspecting the Western Front and was convinced that Australia should introduce conscription for the war effort. This led society to become divided into two major groups, the pro conscriptionists and anti conscriptionists. • 29. The Importance Of Premarital Sexual Intercourse In an increasingly secular American society, the traditional value of sexual abstinence until marriage has become obsolete. Movies, music, and media glorify promiscuous behavior, and people are putting off marriage until later in life. As American culture continues to shift towards a romanticized view of premarital sexual intercourse, one ought to ask his or herself if this is truly a morally permissible act. Personally, I find this behavior alarming, and in this essay, I hope to persuade readers as to why premarital sexual intercourse should not be accepted or encouraged. I will begin by criticizing a typical modus tollens argument pro premarital sexual intercourse advocates often present. Next, I will defend my claim that the presented argument is unsound by providing an equivalent example. I will then address a possible objection to my stance, and I will overcome this objection by examining a few of the numerous negative consequences to premarital sexual intercourse. The pro premarital sexual intercourse argument is as follows: 1) If premarital sexual intercourse is morally impermissible for adults, then it is reasonable to prohibit premarital sexual intercourse for adults (given what we know about the growth and development of young men and women). 2) It is not reasonable to prohibit premarital sexual intercourse for adults (given what we know about the growth and development of young men and women). 3) So, it is not the case that premarital sexual intercourse is ... Children are raised by parents or guardians who have struggled and fought for their own identities. In many cases, parents are still trying to figure it out, while raising their own children. Such is the case with the characters in Junot Diaz s, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. The theme of identity is conveyed through the characters Dominican culture, social standing, and in finding love. Oscar, Lola, and Yunior are three central characters in Oscar Wao, who s Dominican cultural and family expectations were major obstacles as they struggled to establish their identity. Yunior represents the stereotypical Dominican male raised in the states, yet he battles with self definition as he comes to terms with who he is on the inside as opposed to who he is purportedly supposed to be on the outside. According to the Dominican culture, males are the picture of masculinity, known for their womanizing ways. The central conflict within Yunior is his love for the Dominican social norm versus his love for the things in his life that represented nerdiness. Yunior lifted weights and ran to keep himself physically fit and was sexually promiscuous, at the same time, he enjoyed and engaged in nerdy banter with Oscar about science fiction genre, anime, fantasy and even writing. After deciding on a topic for the paper, I combed the book for interesting topics that could relate to the prisoner of war ethic. In many ways I started my journey with Chapter 12; making it all the more fitting that I end here as well. Chapter 12 and the section on Prima Facie Duties cover a good range of personal subjects. This chapter espouses the ideal that communication is not confined to national or even international borders. Kales Human Nature, for example, proposes the importance of the human spirit over cultural boundaries. Though it is not easy, we must communicate with others in a way that does not reflect back on our own biases and stereotypes in other forms of intercultural communication. And I am personally fascinated by the concept of moral exclusion. The ability to which we are able to extend rights to other people is reflective of where they lie in our sphere of moral consideration, I believe. One of the eight stages of genocide dehumanization comes to mind. As the book notes, this dehumanization is reflected in communication. Communication, such as propaganda, that lowers the status of others exemplifies this dehumanization.
