Self-esteem refers to a person's overall emotional
evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgment
of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self.
Simply put:
A person’s thoughts and feelings about
themselves.
Persons can develop three types of self-esteem
 High self-esteem (Normal) : The person loves
themselves and accepts who they are.
 Low self-esteem : The person doesn’t love
themselves, doesn’t accept who they are and they
don’t value their qualities.
 Inflated self-esteem : The person loves
themselves more than others and they exaggerate
their qualities.
 They know what they can do well and they know
how they can improve
 They express their opinion.
 They know their qualities and try to improve
their defects.
 They recognize when they make a mistake and
take responsibility for it.
 They consider others, they like to help and they
are willing to collaborate with other people.
 They value themselves in everyday situations.
 They are nicer to be around.
 Their ideas are met with interest because
others want to hear what they have to
say.
 They are magnets to positive
opportunities
 They are indecisive, they find it difficult to
make decisions, and they are scared of making
a mistake. They only make decisions when
they are 100% certain that they will achieve a
good result.
 They think they can’t do new things, that they
don’t know anything.
 They don’t value their talents. They look at
their small talents and they see other people’s
talents as being better.
 They are isolated and hardly have any friends.
 They don’t like to compete with others.
 They give up instead of trying harder.
 They think they are ignorant.
 They believe they cause a bad impression.
 They are pessimistic; they believe everything is
going to have a negative outcome.
 They want to have the best clothes, perfume
and material objects.
 They believe they can do everything; there is
nobody better than themselves.
 They believe they are always right and that
they never make any mistakes.
 They believe everyone loves them.
 They speak out of turn and are scandalous
 They are very sure of themselves.
 They believe they are natural winners.
 They believe they have the best bodies.
If you want to improve your self-esteem, here are some
steps to start empowering yourself:
 Try to stop thinking negative thoughts about
yourself. ...
 Aim for accomplishments rather than perfection. ...
 View mistakes as learning opportunities. ...
 Try new things. ...
 Recognize what you can change and what you can't. .
 Set goals.
