I am really happy to share my feelings with you once more, following the
D-Cat Rally held for the third time this year. This year the rally was more
meaningful and different for us. We have returned with unforgettable
dreams from the Greek Islands, Patmos, Leros, Kalymnos, and Kos that
we have visited from four days and the crystal clear coves where we took
breaks to swim during the day.

2 012 yılında D-Marin Didim’in organize ettiği
ilk katamaran rallisine davet edilmemizi
ve ralliye katılışımızı, 1.D-Cat Ralli’nin
ardından kaleme aldığım yazımın D-Marin
World Magazin’in 11.sayısında neşredilmesini
dün gibi anımsıyorum. Zaman ne kadar
da hızlı geçiyor… Bu, 3.Ralli’ye katılışımız.
Türkiye’nin tek katamaran rallisi D-Cat Ralli
bir klasik olmaya adım adım ilerliyor. Bu yıl
ralli bizim için daha anlamlı ve farklıydı, çünkü
komodorumuz eşim Yusuf Öner’di.
Yusuf Öner’in 1. D-Cat Ralli komodorumuz
sevgili Alim Sür ve 2. Ralli komodorumuz sevgili
dostumuz ve ralli arkadaşımız Aytun Demirsoylu
kadar titiz bir planlama ve organizasyon
yapacağından emin olduğum halde, hayatında ilk
kez yapacağı bu görevde kendisinden daha fazla
heyecanlandığımı söyleyebilirim.
D-Cat Ralli bu yıl 10 Eylül’de başladı, 14 Eylül’de
sona erdi. Biz tüm hazırlıkların yapılması için 8
Eylül’de D-Marin Didim’e geldik. Marina Müdürü
Ahmet Arıcasoy ve ekibiyle yaptığımız toplantıda
tüm rotaları, hazırlıkları, tekrar gözden geçirdik.
Komodorumuz katılımcılara, 9 Eylül akşamı
düzenlenen brifingde, toplam 115 millik seyir ile
ilgili bilgileri verdi.10 Eylül sabah 10.00’ da start
yerinde buluşmak üzere teknelerimize çekildik.
I t feels just like yesterday, when I recall
being invited to the first catamaran rally
organized by D-Marin Didim for the first time
in 2012 and our participation, and then the
publication of my article that I had written
following the 1st
D-Cat Rally in the 11th
issue of
the D-Marin World Magazine. How time flies…
This is the 3rdtime that we have participated
in the Rally; and as the only catamaran rally
in Turkey, the D-Cat Rally is moving in firm
steps towards becoming a classic. This year the
rally was more meaningful and different for
us because our commodore was my husband
Yusuf Öner.
Although I was sure that Yusuf Öner would
plan and prepare an organization just as
meticulously as dear Alim Sür, our 1stD-Cat
Rally commodore and Aytun Demirsoy, our
dear friend, our rally companion who was our
2nd
Rally commodore, I can tell that I was even
more excited than him in this task he would
undertake for the first time in his life.
This year, the D-Cat Rally started on September
10th
and ended on September 14th
. We came to
D-Marin Didim on September 8th
, in order to
make all the preparations. We reviewed all routes,
preparations once more during the meeting we

RALLİ BAŞLIYOR
10 Eylül’de sabah saat 10.00’da mendirek
önünde toplandık, fotoğraf çektirdik,
haberleşme kanalımız 69, açık pozisyona
getirildi. Ahmet Arıcasoy’un verdiği start ile
seyre başladık.
Rüzgâr yelken açmaya müsait değil, deniz
hafif kaba dalgalı Tekağaç Burnu’nda bırakmış
olduğumuz olta cayırdamaya başladı, yol keserek
oltayı toplamaya başladık. 1,5 kg civarında
bir palamut geldi. Bu rallide ilk balığımızı
almış olduk. Daha önceki yazımı okuyanlar
hatırlayabilir, ilk rallide balık tutma rekortmeni
olmuştuk. Eşim Yusuf Bey bu konu da şanslı
ve tecrübelidir. Yaklaşık 3 mil sonra 2. çıkrık
cayırdamaya başladı, tam tekneye almak
üzereyken balık kurtuldu! Neyse kısmet değilmiş.
Farmakonisi Adası açıklarında rüzgâr hızını
artırdı. 4-5 bofor Batı-Kuzeybatı rüzgârla
ortalama 8-9 knot hızla, Patmos Adası liman
girişine kadar kolayına bir seyirle geldik. Takribi
35 millik ilk etabımızı problemsiz bir şekilde
tamamladık. Patmos Skala Limanı’na oradaki
acentemizin ayırdığı yerlere bağlandık.
PATMOS
34 km2 yüz ölçüme sahip olan Patmos Adası,
Hıristiyanlar için yedi hac yerinden biri. Vahiy
bölümünde Patmos Adası’ndan bahsedilmektedir.

and his team. Our commodore gave the related
information to the participants about the cruise of
115 miles in total, during the briefing organized
on the evening of September 9th
. And, we
retreated to our boats, to meet again at the start
point at 10:00 in the morning on September 10th
.
THE RALLY STARTS
At 10:00 in the morning of September 10th
, we
gathered in front of the breakwater, had photos
taken, and the communication channel 69 was
brought to open position. With the start given
by Ahmet Arıcasoy, we started to cruise.
The wind is not suitable to hoist sail, the sea is
little rough, the fish line we had dropped started
to crackle at the Tekağaç Cape, we slowed down
and started to pull out the fish line. A mackerel
around 1.5 kg had taken the bait. So, we took
our first fish in this rally. Those who have read
my previous article may remember, we had been
the record holder in catching fish during the first
rally. My husband, Yusuf Bey is quite lucky and
experienced in this area.Approximately3 miles
ahead, the 2nd
reel started to crackle, but the fish
broke loose just as we were about to take it on
the boat! Oh well, it wasn’t meant to be.
The wind picked up speed off the shores of the
Farmakonisi Island. With a 4-5 Beaufort West-

Aziz Yuhanna bu adada sürgündeyken İsa
kendisine görünmüştür. İsa’nın Yuhanna’ya
göründüğü iddia edilen mağara kiliseyi
görmeye gittik. Ziyaret saatleri içinde orada
olamayacağımızdan özel olarak bizim için izin
alınmıştı. Apokalypsis Mağara Kilisesi’ni ziyaret
ettikten sonra kaleye çıktık, maalesef kale ve
müze kapalı olduğu için sadece dıştan görmekle
ve fotoğraf çekmekle yetindik.
Akşam daha önceden planlandığı gibi transfer
otobüsümüzle Chora(Hora) Bölgesi’ndeki Aloni
Taverna’ya geldik. Geleneksel Yunan yemekleri
akabinde oranın personeli tarafından sergilenen
Yunan müziği ve folklorunu izledik.
PATMOS-LEROS ETABI
11 Eylül saat 10.00’da, 18 millik Patmos-Leros
etabı için start verildi. Hiç rüzgâr yok, motor
seyri yapıyoruz. Leros’a gelmeden yemek ve
deniz molası için Arkhangelos Adası’nın Leros
tarafına bakan kısmına 5-6 metre kumluk
zemine demir attık. Çok yakınında balık
çiftlikleri olmasına rağmen deniz türkuaz ve
pırıl pırıl. Neden bizim ülkemizdeki balık
çiftliklerinin yakını yemyeşil ve kirli anlamış
değilim. Saat 16.00 civarında Lakki Belediye
Marina’da tonoz olarak kıçtankara olduk.
Northwest wind and an average speed of 8-9
knots, we arrived at the Patmos Island port entry
with an easy cruise. So, we completed our first
leg of almost35 miles without any problems. And
we moored at the area that our agency there had
reserved for us at the Patmos Skala Port.
PATMOS
The Patmos Island, which has a surface area of 34
km2,is one of the seven pilgrimage places for the
Christians. In the apocalypse section, the Patmos
Island is mentioned. While Saint John was on
exile on this island, Jesus has revealed himself to
him. We went to see the cave church claimed to
be the place that Jesus appeared to Saint John.
Special permission was taken for us because we
would not able to be there during the normal
visiting hours. After having visited the Apocalypsis
Cave Church, we went up to the fortress, but
unfortunately we had to be contented with just
looking and taking photos from the outside, since
the fortress and the museum were closed.
In the evening, we arrived at the Aloni Tavern
in the Chora Region on our transfer bus, as
had been planned previously. Following the
traditional Greek dishes we watched the Greek
music and folklore exhibited by the personnel.
PATMOS-LEROS LEG
At 10:00 on September 11th
, start was given for
the 18 miles’ Patmos-Lerosleg. There is no wind,
we are cruising on engine. Before arriving at
Leros, we cast anchor on the 5-6 meters’ sandy
ground of the part of the Arkhangelos Island
looking towards Leros, for lunch and swimming
break. Although there are fish farms very nearby,
the sea is turquoise and crystal clear. I have
never been able to understand why the areas
around the fish farms in our country are so green
and polluted. Around 16:00 we tied as stern to
the gear at the Lakki Municipal Marina.

LEROS
Leros’un Kuzey Oniki Adalar grubunda
ailecek en çok beğendiğimiz ada olduğunu
söyleyebilirim. Diğer adalara nazaran yemyeşil
ağaçlarla bezenmiş, doğal koylara ve pırıl
pırıl ufak çakıllı kumluk plajlara sahip ve
biz Türklerin en çok ziyaret ettiği adalar
grubunda. Bence görülmeye değer yerleri:
Savaş Müzesi, Merikia Tüneli, Leros Kalesi,
Panagia Kavouradina Kilisesi, Alinta, Pantelli
ve Partheni koyları.
Akşam yine grup olarak Pantelli koyunda
Apostolis Taverna’da yemek yedik. Aynı
zamanda akşam için bir sürprizimiz vardı.
Türk Sanat Müziği ve Türk Halk Müziği koro
faaliyetlerimizin olduğundan 2012’de kaleme
aldığım yazıda bahsetmiştim. Eşim ile birlikte
akşama bir konser vermeyi planladık, ses
sistemlerini Ahmet Arıcasoy Bey ve ekibinin
sayesinde Didim’de temin ettik, yanımızda
taşıdık. Aslında en çok bizimle birlikte seyahat
eden bağlama hocamız, sevgili dostumuz Necip
Aydın ve eşi İlkay Aydın’a güveniyoruz, onlar
olmasaydı mini bir konser vermeye cesaret
edebilir miydik bilmiyoruz.
Leziz yemek sonrası sürprizimizi icra
etmeye başladık. Türkülerin yanında şarkılar
seslendirmeye çalıştık. Necip Aydın’ın
bağlama ile Türk Sanat Müziği çalması pek
LEROS
I can say that Leros is the island that we like
best as a family among the North Twelve
Islands group. As compared to the other
islands, it is bedecked with lush trees, and has
natural coves and crystal clear pebbled, sandy
beaches, and it is among the group of islands
visited the most by us Turks. In my opinion,
the places to see are: the War Museum, Merikia
Tunnel,Leros Fortress,Panagia Kavouradina
Church, Alinta, Pantelli and Partheni coves.
In the evening, we had dinner at the Apostolis
Tavern in the Pantelli cove, again as a group. At
the same time, we had a surprise for the evening.
I had mentioned in my article in 2012, that we
had Turkish Classical Music and Turkish Folk
Music activities. We decided to give a concert for
the evening, together with my husband, we had
supplied the sound systems from Didim thanks to
Ahmet Arıcasoy and his team and brought them
along with us. As a matter of fact, we are most
relying on our dear friend, our mooring master
who was cruising with us, Necip Aydın and his
wife İlkay Aydın, we are not sure whether we
would have even dared to give a mini concert, if
they had not been there.
After the delicious meal, we started to perform
our surprise. We tried to vocalize classical songs
along with folk songs. It must not have been too

kolay olmasa gerek ama hocamız tek başına
orkestra gibiydi. Grubumuz dışında tavernada
olan diğer kişilerin ve yoldan geçenlerin
durup bizi ilgiyle izlemesi motivasyonumuzu
artırdı, Türk Müziği’ni tanıtmaktan da büyük
haz duyduk. Mutlu ve huzurlu bir şekilde bir
gece daha sona erdi.
LEROS-KALYMNOS ETABI
12 Eylül saat 10:00 gibi 17 millik Leros-
Kalymnos etabı için yola koyulduk. Deniz ve
yemek molası vermek üzere daha önceleri
gitmiş olduğumuz Kalymnos Adası’nın
Emporios Koyu’nda demirledik. Masmavi
sularda yüzdük, saat 14.30 civarında
Kalymnos Adası Pothia Limanı’na gitmek
üzere demir aldık. Kalymnos Adası ile ona
çok yakın Telendos Adası arasından geçerken
oltaları bıraktık, adanın güney tarafındaki
burna yaklaşırken eşim hazır olun birazdan
balık alabiliriz demesine kalmadan arka
arkaya iki palamut daha aldık. Pothia Limanı
girişine kadar iki tane daha yakaladık. Sanırım
bu rallide de rekortmen yine biz olacağız!

kıçtan kara olduk.

one-man orchestra. And the fact that the people at
the tavern other than our group and other people
who stopped while passing by watched us with
interest, boosted our motivation, And we felt deep
pleasure for promoting the Turkish Music also.
Another evening ended happily and peacefully.
LEROS-KALYMNOS LEG
Around 10:00 on September 12th
, we set off for
the 17 miles’ Leros-Kalymnos leg. We anchored
at the Emporios Cove of the Kalymnos Island,
where we had gone previously, for swimming
and lunch break. We swam in the deep blue
waters, and raised anchor around 14:30 to
go to the Kalymnos Island Pothia Port. While
passing between the Kalymnos Island and the
very nearby Telendos Island, we dropped our
fishing lines, and just as we approached the cape
on the southern part of the island we pulled
two mackerels, one after the other, before my
husband even had the chance to say get ready,
we may get some fish soon. We caught two
more up to the entry of the Pothia Port.I guess
we will hold the record again in this rally! When
we arrived at the Pothia Port, we moored stern

Ada için en eski sünger avcılığının
merkezi, hatta sünger avcılığının doğduğu
yer denilmekte. Türk kökenli eski bir
sünger avcısı ile konuştuğumuzda;
artık süngercilik yapamadıklarını,
özellikle Çernobil Faciası’ndan sonra
süngerciliğin tamamen bittiğini bunun
yerine balıkçılıktan geçimlerini temin
ettiğini söyledi. Umarım nükleer santraller
dünyanın sonunu getirmez. Sünger
avcılığı sona erince ada halkı geçimini
turizme endekslemiş, kaya tırmanış
turizmi pek revaçta.
Akşam saat 19.00’da güneşin batışını
seyretmek ve yemek yiyeceğimiz yere
gitmek üzere bizlere tahsis edilen
otobüse bindik. Adanın doğusundan
batısına Masouri Bölgesi’ne geçtik.
Agean Taverna’da Talendos Adası’nı
gören muhteşem manzara eşliğinde
ağırlığı deniz mahsulleri olan
yemeklerimizi yerken dostluklarımızı
perçinledik. Agean Taverna genellikle
Yunan Adaları’nda olduğu gibi bir aile
işletmesi, tıpkı Leros Adası’ndaki Mylos
Taverna gibi. Bu iki tavernayı fiyat,
lezzet ve sunum açısından çok başarılı
bulduğumu rahatlıkla söyleyebilirim.

KALYMNOS
The island is told to be the oldest sponge
fishing center, as a matter of fact the place
where sponge fishing has been born. When
we spoke with an old sponge fisherman
of Turkish origin; he told us that they no
longer were able to fish sponge, sponge
fishing has been totally finished especially
following the Chernobyl Disaster, so they
were trying to earn their living by fishing
instead. I hope the nuclear plants do not
bring the world to an end. After sponge
fishing has expired, the island community
has indexed its living on tourism; rock
climbing tourism is quite in fashion.
At 19:00 in the evening, we got on the bus
that was allocated for us to go the place
where we would watch the sunset and
have dinner. We passed from the east of the
island to the west, to the Masouri Region.
At the Aegean Tavern, accompanied by the
fantastic view overlooking the Talendos
Island, we enjoyed our dinner, which
was primarily seafood, and bolstered our
friendship. The Aegean Tavern is a family-
run business, as is the case in the Greek

KALYMNOS-KOS ETABI
13 Eylül. Son etabımız, 15 deniz mili mesafedeki
Kos Adası’na gitmek üzere demir alıyoruz.
Batı ve Kuzeybatı 4-6 bofor arasında güzel bir
rüzgâr var, yelkenleri fora ediyoruz. 9-10 knot
hızla keyifle seyir yapmaktayız. Komodorumuz
vakit buldukça deniz molası vermekte. Bu kez
Kos Adası’na gelmeden yolumuzun üzerinde
Pserimos Adası Vathi koyuna dümen tuttu, diğer
katılımcılara koordinatları bildirdi.
Ülkemizin Turgutreis kıyısını gören bu güzel
koyda saat 14.30’a kadar duruyoruz ve Kos’a
gitmek üzere demir alıyoruz. Sadece ön yelken
ile Kos Adası’nda bize ayrılan yere varıyor ve
demir atıp kıçtankara oluyoruz. Hava biraz sert.
Bulunduğumuz yer soluğan alıyor, olsun bizim
keyfimiz yerinde. Son etap da başarıyla, hasarsız
ve kazasız tamamlandı. Komodorumuz sevgili
eşim Yusuf Öner’in üzerinden bir yük kalkmış,
yüzündeki ifadeden bunu görebiliyorum.
KOS
Ada takribi 30.000 nüfusa sahip, 300 km2
civarında, Oniki Adaların en büyüklerinden biri.
Islands in general, just like the Mylos Tavern on
the Leros Island.I can easily say that I have found
these two taverns quite successful, with respect
to price, taste and presentation.
KALYMNOS-KOS LEG
September 13th
.Our last leg, we are raising
anchor to sail to the Kos Island, at a distance
of 15 nautical miles. There is a fine wind from
West and Northwest around 4-6 Beaufort, so we
are under sail. We are cruising in pleasure at a
speed of 9-10 knots. Our commodore is giving
a swimming break, whenever he finds the time.
This time, he steered towards the Pserimos
Island Vathi cove, which is on our route before
arriving at Kos Island, notified the coordinates
to the other participants.
At this cove that overlooks the Turgutreis coast of
our country, we stayed until 14:30 and then raised
anchor to go to Kos. With only the headsail, we
arrived at the place reserved for us on Kos Island
and dropped anchor as stern to. The weather is
a bit rough. The place we are at gets the swell,
but so what, we are in good spirits. The final
leg is also completed in success, without and
damage and accidents. Our commodore, my dear
husband Yusuf Öner is deeply relieved; I can see
that from the expression on his face.
KOS
The island has a population around 30,000,and
an area around 300 km2,it is one of the largest
of the Twelve Islands. The source of income is
totally based on tourism and the most popular
customers are the Turks. The places to see on
the island are within walking distance. You
may get on the mini train that pulls out from
a spot quite close to the port, to take part in

Geçim kaynağı tamamen turizme dayalı ve en
gözde müşterileri de Türkler. Adanın gezilecek
yerleri yürüme mesafesinde. Limana çok yakın
bir yerden kalkan mini trene binip panoramik
bir geziye dâhil olup adanın merkezini
tanıyabilirsiniz. Osmanlı’nın ayak izlerini
görebileceğiniz Defterdar ve Loziya Camilerini
görmenizi tavsiye ederim.
Kos Adası Hipokrat’ın memleketi olarak
ünlenmiş. Hani şu Hipokrat Yemini’nin
mucidi. Hipokrat Meydanı’nda 2400
yıllık olduğu söylenen Hipokrat Ağacı’nı
görebilirsiniz. Yine yürüme mesafesinde
Asklepion Harabeleri ve Neratzia Kalesi
ziyaret edilebilecek yerlerden bazıları.
15 Eylül sabahı Necip Bey ve eşi İlkay Hanım’ı
Didim’e götürmemiz gerek. Dostlarımız oradan
araçlarına binip İstanbul’a gidecekler. O yüzden
araç kiralayarak adanın diğer taraflarını görmeyi
bir dahaki sefere erteledik.
KOS-D MARİN DİDİM ETABI
15 Eylül’de Kos’tan saat 06.00 civarlarında avara
olduk. Bizim sulara girdiğimizde ilk iş gurcataya
dünyada bir eşi daha olmayan bayrağımızı toka

The Kos Island is renowned as the home of
Hippocrates. You know, the inventor of the
Hippocratic Oath. You may see the Hippocrates
Tree, told to be 2400 years’ old, at the Hippocrates
Square. Again within walking distance, the
Asclepion Ruins and the Neratzia Fortress are
some of the places that may be visited.
On the morning of September 15th
, we have
to take Necip Bey and his wife İlkay Hanım
to Didim. Our friends will get on their car
there and go to İstanbul. Therefore, we have
postponed renting a car and seeing the other
parts of the island until the next time.
KOS-D MARİN DİDİM LEG
On September 15th
, we pushed off from Kos
around 06:00.When we entered in our waters,
the first thing we did was to hoist our flag,
which is unmatched in the world, on the
crosstrees. Following a breakfast break at
Yalıkavak, we docked at D-Marin Didim around

10:30.Atilla Bey from Cine Tour quickly handled
our entrance operations. We saw the Aydın
Family off to İstanbul around 12:00.
Thus, another catamaran rally has ended.
There is no knowing of what time will bring,
hopefully we will be together again in 2015.
