Truck Drivers Myths
We know you've heard people talk about the trucking industry; most have no idea what they're
talking about, not to mention seeing the entertainment industry bash on truck drivers for one reason
or another. People who don't personally know truckers don't know what the life is like, so we're here
to set the facts straight to some of the most common myths about truck drivers and the industry.
Myth #1
Truck drivers are drug users or serial killers – Truck drivers often get stuck with a bad reputation
thanks to the movie industry where many truckers portray drug abusers, outlaws and violent
criminals. First, to debunk the drug abuse, due to the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act
of 1991, drug and alcohol screening must be done in numerous ... Show more content on

Sure, movies may show truck drivers as violent criminals, and there have been some cases of that;
however, most of the time, truckers are responsible, helpful people who fight crime daily and
respond first to accidents.
Myth #2
Truck drivers cause traffic accidents – Did you know that truck drivers are 3 times less likely to get
into an accident than a normal vehicle and 4 times more likely to pass inspection than passenger
vehicles? Only 2.4% of commercial drivers are involved in traffic accidents.
Myth #3
Male truckers are better drivers than females – Along with the myth that there are few women in the
trucking industry, the myth that male truck drivers are better than female truck drivers exists as well.
We've all heard it before...men are better drivers than women, so it really comes as no surprise that
this myth exists. In the United States, there are over 200,000 women with a career in the trucking
industry. Female truckers are 3 times less likely to get into a traffic accident than male truck drivers,
5 times less likely to violate safety regulations, and 4 times more likely to pass the exam to obtain
their CDL on the first time than

A Virtual Team Between Uber Drivers
Context Uber is a company that I personally admire. It is such a great smart idea to have people
around the world driving other people, and the company just receives the money by controlling all
virtually. I like to use Uber when I travel, it is a reliable service, and it saves me money and time.
After developing this report, I expect to learn more about the company itself, how efficient the
company manage its operations. How the drivers are hired, it is all virtually? How the drivers
communicate with other Uber drivers? I believe it has to be a virtual team between Uber drivers.
Also, I would like to learn what the company problems are when managing it operations efficiencies
using multi–cultural virtual teams. This report will help me to understand the importance of muti–
cultural virtual team improving operational efficiency in a company, and in the future to use my
skills to work effectively with multi–cultural virtual teams.
Introduction Uber operates through a mobile app, where people need to create an account, and a
debit or credit card is required to make the payment. The app allows the consumers to request a trip;
then, the software automatically sends a message to the nearest driver around with the location of
the consumer. The drivers use their own personal cars. The application software calculates the fare
trip, and then transfer the money to the Uber driver. Uber is located around 66 countries in the
world. The company operates, leads, organize, and manage

Examples Of Existentialism In Taxi Driver
Travis Bickle is a Vietnam War veteran and now works as a taxi driver in New York. All through the
night, he goes on working alone in a metropolitan city, because he can't sleep at night.
Travis lives alone, without his family, any friend and lover, so he doesn't talk to anybody, but he
spent watching porn and thinking about himself. He seems to be alienated from others and the
society, at the same time he has already noticed his lonely situation. In Taxi Driver, Travis feels
loneliness which ruins him gradually and finally makes him almost kill himself.
A scriptwriter, Paul Schrader wrote the script of Taxi Driver in the early 1970s. In 1946, Schrader
was born in a strict Calvinist family in Grand Rapids, Michigan, so he had not seen any films ...

On the other hand, he gets anger about the society, because of his high self–esteem and self–
consciousness. Although he suffers from his loneliness, there is an ambivalent feeling to others in
somewhere of his mind.
Dostoevsky's Notes from the Underground is separated into two parts. The first part, "Underground"
is narrated by the underground man like a soliloquy, in his point of view. Like being in a dark
underground, he writes these notes in his room alone, with his high self–esteem and self–
consciousness. He often thinks about the society where he and others are, but now he withdrew in
his world.
The second part, "Apropos of the Wet Snow" is the underground man's young age memories, when
he used to have real communications with others, like his old classmates, his employee, and a
whore, although it is not always better. He often gets angry about those persons and despises, on the
other hand, he still wants communications with them. He has an ambivalent feeling, between his
high self–consciousness and thirsting to

Robert De Niro's Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro's terrifyingly realistic portrayal of Travis Bickle, a lonely Vietnam war veteran in the
film Taxi Driver, is a performance that has captivated audiences for more than thirty years and that
will never be forgotten. De Niro's masterful performance sees him use complete control over his
body and voice to allow his characterization of Travis to reflect a certain atmosphere. With only
minimal speaking throughout, he manages to use subtle facial, body, and eye movements to expose
the film's themes of loneliness, alienation, anger, and redemption. In fact, the opening scene itself is
a perfect example of how subtle gestures can effectively convey a film's mood. The very first scene
exposes a pair of fatigued eyes, moving slowly from one side of the screen to the other with an
anxious expression. De Niro, with the use of only a pair of eyes, catapults the viewer into the dark,
surreal world of New York City, the space in which his severely disturbed character inhabits. ...

Off the screen, he has a reputation for being rather illusive and hard to get a hold of. These qualities
just happen to be things that accurately describe Travis' character in the film. De Niro and Martin
Scorsese, the director, were fully aware of this on–screen and off–screen mythology. They embraced
it with this character in full force. Both being New York City natives, the two understood the effects
that living in the city could have on an individual's psyche, and they utilized this knowledge to great
effect. They shared a very healthy friendship

How To Become A Truck Driver Essay
Get Your CDL And See America
If you're looking for a way to travel the United States and keep working too, then you may want to
think about becoming a truck driver. Depending on the job you get, you could travel all over your
state or all across the country. It's a great way to see the landscape of America from your window as
you roll along the interstate system. Here are a few things you should know.
State Requirements Vary
Each state has its own requirements as far as educational hours and testing for a truck driver's
license goes. However, they must all comply with the federal mandate that you obtain a CDL, which
is a commercial driver's license. There are two types: CDL A and CDL B. If you want to drive a
tractor trailer, you'll test for the CDL A license as that is what you need to drive a truck. The CDL B
is needed if you want to drive a smaller load, such as a local furniture delivery truck or auto hauler.
The first step on a new career as a truck driver is to visit your local DMV to find out the
requirements for licensing in your state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The safest way to do that is in a controlled environment in truck driving school. The school has
private grounds where you can practice parking and backing up the truck in a stress–free
environment without other traffic around. Once you master the basic skills of truck driving, your
education continues on the open road where you learn how to handle a big truck in a variety of
situations.
If you already know how to handle a truck, it may still be worth it to get CDL training so you can
pass the DMV test. You'll need to pass a written test and a skills test just like you did for your
regular driver's license. CDL school prepares you for the test so you have a good chance to pass it
on your first attempt and don't waste time you could be

Taxi Driver Movie Analysis
Taxi Driver (1976) follows Travis Bickle's life in New York after being honorably discharged. The
film is a psychological thriller that deals with Travis Bickle's mental instability and desire to do
something meaningful with his life. The narrative centers around Travis' loneliness and disconnect
from society. The inciting incident occurs when Travis notices Betsy for the first time. Travis
becomes obsessed with Betsy, who works in a presidential campaign office for Charles Palantine.
His pursuit for Betsy comes to a halt when he takes her out to a pornographic film, and Betsy
understandably feels very uncomfortable. Betsy starts to ignore Travis' calls after this mishap,
leading him to march into the campaign office and have a public falling out with her. The falling out
finishes off act one and spirals Travis into planning an assassination on Palantine. Before Travis
attempts the assassination, he meets and underage prostitute, Iris, who is the twist/midpoint. Travis
sees innocence in Iris, and tries to lead her away from her pimp, Sport. Travis' assassination attempt
on Palantine is foiled when he is caught reaching for his firearm. This act two crisis pushes him in a
new direction, to go after Sport instead. Travis' shout–out at Sport's brothel is the climax of the film.
The dénouement follows, with Travis being heralded as a hero in newspapers and Iris' parents
thanking Travis for saving Iris. Later, Betsy gets in Travis' taxi, he drops her off and rides off

Taxi Driver Identity Essay
Identity is a recurring theme and central plot element in many Martin Scorsese films, and Taxi
Driver is no different. The article "Portraits of the postmodern person in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull;
and The King of Comedy" written by Barbara Mortimer discusses how identity can make up the
backbone of a character, but also how gender is another fixed view of identity. The bulk of the
article has to do with the female identity in both the males and females of three of Scorsese's films,
which includes Taxi Driver. The main talking point of the article is its thorough break down of major
characters in the films. Mortimer does a good job of discussing the male characters and connecting
them to the females. It also connects the major themes in the movies to those of the characters
decisions and motivations. Mortimer keeps a postmodern view point of all of the connections, which

the screen with its excellent soundtrack boasting music from multiple decades, here's how they did

Written and directed by Wright, Baby Driver casts The Fault in Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort as
"Baby", a supremely skilled getaway driver who depends on a steady stream of music in order to
counteract the effects of tinnitus, or a hum–in–the–drum as the film describes it. He received this
tragedy during a horrid car crash that did away with both of his parents. Now orphaned, he finds

Truck Drivers Thesis
My research paper is on Truck drivers around the world and exactly what their job is and what they
do. I've chosen this career because it's something that runs in the family and I feel connected with it.
My grandpa, step–dad, uncle, and brother have gone into some type of truck driving career. This is
my thesis statement, You don't have to make money to necessarily be happy. Truck drivers don't get
paid a whole lot but it's enough and you get to basically travel the countryside. Truck Drivers
usually go long distances to transport loads where they need to go. Truck driver typically get up and
start running their routes at the crack of dawn. Truckers are required to check over their rigs for
inspection purposes and follow all laws of the road. They usually work long hours on the road, it

Contradiction In The Film Taxi Driver
"He's a prophet... he's a prophet and a pusher, partly truth, partly fiction. A walking contradiction."
(Taxi Driver) We are all encapsulated in our own self–concept. It can make it impossible for us to
understand how our actions are doing more damage than good. As human beings, if we cannot find
the source of our turmoil we are doomed for our anguish to be projected externally as strokes of
violence. In the film Taxi Driver, Travis is not doing enough to fix his problems. He is constantly
putting himself into situations that confirm his negative view on the world, trying to find purpose in
relationships that he sabotages and tries to find purpose through death.
Taxi Driver is a 1976 film directed by Martin Scorcese and written by Paul Schrader. It won the

theatres and writing in his diary. Travis becomes infatuated with Betsy, a campaign volunteer for
candidate Charles Palatine. Their relationship turns sour when he takes Betsy to a porn movie. He
tries to persuade a child prostitute, Iris, to desert her lifestyle but fails. "As Travis grows

Driver Fatigue Essay
Trucker Fatigue Major Cause of Commercial Truck Accidents
Approximately 4,000 people die in commercial truck accidents each year. Truck driver fatigue is the
leading factor in fatal truck accidents. When you consider that over 70 percent of the injuries and
fatalities in commercial truck accidents are occupants of other vehicles, it makes sense that the
federal government would place restrictions on commercial trucks to try to avoid fatigued driving.
One of the most famous and recent commercial truck accidents is the collision that injured comedian
and actor Tracy Morgan in June 2014. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that
the truck driver who caused the crash was fatigued and speeding at the time of the collision.

The hours of service rules are slightly different for drivers who transport property and drivers who
transport passengers. For example, property–carrying drivers are limited to 11 hours of driving time
after 10 consecutive hours off duty. However, passenger–carrying drivers are limited to 10 hours of
driving time after 8 hours of consecutive hours off duty. Hours of service rules also include limits
for hours driving in a consecutive 7 or 8–day period; rules for rest breaks; and, provisions for
sleeper berths.
Some truck drivers and others in the truck industry argue the hours of service rules are too restrictive
and the rules are unnecessary. However, these rules are designed to protect truck drivers and others
on the road from the risk of death and injury in commercial truck accidents cause by fatigued truck
drivers.

Truck Drivers : A Car Driver
Truck Drivers So you think you want to be a truck driver? There are actually many different
categories of truck drivers. Auto haulers and Car haulers – The name kind of says it all. You 've
probably seen the huge trailers that ferry all manner of vehicles. They are often transporting from
destinations such as a port or an auction to your local lots. Obviously, you would rightfully imagine
that the job comes with higher stakes and of course more pay. Tankers – These trucks are used
mostly to haul liquids. They liquids of various categories from gasoline , milk and any other special
liquids needed for emergency deliveries each day. They may also haul chemicals as well as gases
which are often highly explosive. Therefore, the job requires special training as it is often easy to
turn over hauling liquid as the center of gravity changes. It not just liquids with these types of trucks
though. What you probably don't realize is that dry bulk products such as cement and sugar may also
be hauled by tankers. Heavy Equipment Hauler –This type of trucking is harder than most, but
comes with extra pay, making it worth the extra effort to many. It's more tricky to operate and calls
for higher level of diligence and competence to operate but hauling heavy machinery comes with its
perks. NOTE: Driving these haulers is indeed a daunting task and you need to acquaint yourself
with what the description calls for. Skill sets vary slightly between these jobs, with that of hauling

murder as the clerk would beat up the dead man¡¯s body. Though it might have seem gruesome at
the time, Scorsese doesn¡¯t pull back where he doesn¡¯t give any clear answer of Bickle, in the
terms of becoming normal. This is by far some top–notch directing from one of NYC¡¯s greatest
visionaries.
In Taxi Driver, Scorsese manages his camera angles and editing to emphasize Travis seeing the
world through glass or mirrors, especially the windshield and rear–view mirror of the taxi, through
which all major characters enter Taxi Driver: Betsy through the panes of an all–– glass office;
Palantine through his rear–view mirror; and Iris and Sport in a fleeting glance in his mirror. As

made Travis Bickle a cinematic icon ("Are you talking to me?"), Travis looks into his mirror,
challenges imaginary adversaries, and draws his various weapons in assault. The ambiguity of the
image is poignant: Travis looks into a mirror and makes a self–destructive gesture foreshadowing
his attempted suicide at the climax of the film, and Travis peers through the looking glass and

Classification Essay
There are three types of drivers in this world: competent, overcautious, and reckless. After driving
for many years in frustrating rush hour traffic, one might find there are three types of drivers,
competent drivers who keep the flow going, over cautious drivers who cause slow and backed up
traffic, and reckless drivers who weave in and out of traffic causing one near death experience after
another. Trying to sort out what type of driver a person might be is an extremely challenging task. In
a person's own mind, they think they are the aggressive type of driver, or the cautious type, but no
one will ever admit that they are reckless kind. In most cases they're too oblivious to these

A final classification of an overcautious driver would be one who was previously in bad accident.
Feeling the mental and financial sting of having to buy a whole new car really puts things into
perspective, but hinders them on the road.
Now we get into what is known as the reckless driver. A picture comes to mind of a frazzled man or
woman driving a beat up Oldsmobile; cigarette dangling from the lip of their mouth, swerving in
and out of traffic while others beep their horns in disapproval. This type of driver can occur when a
competent driver has had a bad day and is encountering the overly cautious driver. Stereotypically
this driver is younger in age and male, but I feel that the reckless driver has no set age or sex. They
get so angry for the smallest of reasons that they don't really care what they do as a result, so long as
they go out in a blaze of glory. They tend to disregard most driving signs and have no qualms about
risking their life or the lives of others. These are the drivers who barely apply the brake when
coming to a stop, more like "tap tap and go". My uncle Jim is a prime example of a reckless driver.
At the age of 82, he drives a boat of a Cadillac, commanding the streets with his led foot and
somewhat latent reactions to those around him. Try telling him to ease up or look out, and he's
bound to increase the gas flow to his V8 engine.

Driver Fatigue Essay
ABSTRACT
Driver fatigue resulting from sleep deprivation or sleep disorders is an important factor in the
increasing number of the accidents on today's roads. Driving a vehicle involves coordination of the
locomotor system along with the healthy function of the brain. When the driver feels drowsy, it may
unsettle the balance and may lead to erratic driving causing potential accidents.
The main aim of the driver drowsiness detection system is to design a monitoring system that
processes the image to indicate the current driving aptitude of the driver and raise a warning alarm if
the driver is fatigued.

Truck Drivers Research Paper
Nearly everything you see in stores and even in your home was, at some point, transported overland
by a truck. Tractor–trailer rigs in particular, haul cargo over longer distances than those covered by
local delivery trucks. Because of this, they carry much heavier loads and can weigh up to 80,000
pounds. This makes them 20 to 30 times heavier than the average car.
Truck drivers must obey the same traffic rules as other vehicles on the road and like many motorists,
their negligence can cause an accident. However, in a tractor–trailer accident, the result can be
devastating to the occupants of the other vehicle. Their overwhelming size and weight can
completely demolish smaller vehicles. This is why so many federal regulations specifically ... Show

Truck drivers with multiple traffic violations and tractor–trailer accidents on their driving record are
somehow able to get rehired several times. These types of drivers rarely improve their records
because of their dangerous driving habits. Habits are notoriously difficult to change.
Trucking carriers are increasingly hiring inexperienced drivers because of the current driver
shortage. Most of the experienced drivers are retiring, which means a dangerously large percentage
of truck drivers on the road today have minimal experience.
Distracted Driving
Truck drivers are distracted by many of the same things as the ordinary motorist. These include cell
phone conversations, texting, GPS programming, mobile app use, eating, daydreaming, reaching for
objects, and other distractions both inside and outside of the truck.
Fatigue
Federally–mandated hours–of–service rules directed at ensuring that truck drivers get their rest, such
as placing maximum time limits on continuous driving, do not necessarily keep fatigued drivers off
the road. Drivers may fail to get a good night's rest or knowingly violate regulations in order to meet
their schedules. Fatigue can impair driving as severely as intoxication, and in extreme cases, cause
the driver to fall asleep at the

Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver
Throughout the movie Taxi Driver (Martin Scorsese, 1976), it is obvious that Travis Bickle (Robert
De Niro) is considered an outcast. He is denied the chance of obtaining the title of a hero after
fighting in the Vietnam War, and Betsy (Cybill Shepherd) rejects him. The regenerative violence
myth is a part of the American culture that states violence solves everything. Travis wants to be
accepted into this culture, be given an identity, and save the girl through this myth. He embodies this
violence at the end of the movie, and everyone in the city rewards him. Travis isn't deranged for his
act of killing; he is only trying to live up to the expectation America has set for men, which is that

He presumes that this act of violence will give him a title of a hero and also give him an identity that
he lacks. Travis also discusses with Palantine in the taxi cab that someone should clean up the city
because it is "like an open sewer" and is "full of filth and scum" (Scorsese, Taxi Driver). Travis
realizes that he should be the one to clean up the city of its' repulsiveness because the ones in
authority are not doing an adequate job of removing it themselves. By obtaining these two ideas that
assassination will permit him to be a hero and his vigilantism is justifiable, he is convinced he will
be considered important and desired. With him convinced he should clear the filth, it urges him to
assassinate the Presidential candidate and rid the city of the scum himself, thus forming him to be a

The Task of Keeping a Driver Sober
There are many reasons people drink, however keeping a driver sober can be a monumental task.
Often times drunk driving ends grimly. "Every 51 minutes on average, someone is killed in a drunk
driving crash," 10,322 people died in 2012 due as a result of drunk driving
(http://www.madd.org/drunk–driving/). Many programs and laws have spawned in hopes of
reducing the number of drunk drivers on the road. These programs raise awareness on the results of
drunk driving; however they lack a probable preventative solution. Through alternate practices and
more awareness, drunk driving may be aided in reduction.
Drunk Driving should be stopped as it can result in permanent injury and trauma to various body
parts such the spinal cord. Some victims are lucky to still be partially mobile, using canes and
walkers in aide whilst moving. In many cases Driving Under the Influence (DUI) victims are lucky
to be alive as often times these accidents end in death. Many times as explained by Gary Schuman
this will lead to a case of death insurance dispute in order to cover losses and opens up more debate
between the insurers and the victims' families "Dying Under The Influence: Drunk Driving And
Accidental Death Insurance." In 2000 it was estimated that each drunk driving related fatality cost
around 3.2 million dollars per death "Drunk Driving Does America need tougher laws" (3).

The Development Of Drivers For Virtual Machines
I. Introduction to the topic This paper will be analyzing the development of drivers for virtual
machines, as well as how virtual machines access host hardware. Topics covered will include what
interest what interest I/O driver virtualization holds for the computer information science field, a
general overview of virtualization, I/O hardware virtualization, and virtualization of I/O drivers.
II. Why the topic is of interest
Due to increased efficiency in Central Processing Units, most computers today are not used to their
full potential. In fact, time interrupt handlers are issued as wait time, thus eating up CPU clock
cycles. Virtualization gave the opportunity for multiple x86 Operating Systems to run on one
machine. As CPU's were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CPU, memory and resources are divided amongst the OSes by the Virtual Machine Monitors, where
the Virtual Machine resides. The Virtual Machine is a software abstraction that will behave as
though it is a complete machine, with virtual hardware resources, RAM, and I/O hardware [1].
There are two main approaches to virtualization: hosted architecture, and hypervisor architecture. In
hosted architecture, the encapsulation layer is installed in the form of an application on the
Operating System, while the hypervisor architecture involves the installing of the encapsulation
layer, or hypervisor, on a clean system, which gives direct access to the system's resources [2].
The issue of virtualization is that the virtualized OSes do not have full access to hardware resources
and memory. They expect to execute within a high privilege level. The VMM is run in this high
layer, while the OS is moved to the user level, above the application level. This change in privilege
requires costly saving and restoring, and system calls can lead to some CPU cache loss. Instead, a
translation look–aside buffer, or TLB, is used upon VMM entry and exit to cache physical and
virtual address translation [3]. Because different privilege levels also effect semantics, binary
translation is used to make up for the move. Three possibilities exist to allow virtualization: full
virtualization with binary translation,

Taxi Driver: The Filth of the Streets and of Self The opening shot is Robert DeNiro's character,
Travis Bickle's eyes in the review mirror intensely gazing at the city. It then transitions to the view
outside of the taxi to the colorful, hectic streets of New York City. This exaggerates the importance
of the taxi itself and the main character's point of view from within it. Bickle is a veteran Marine
who can't sleep and decides to take the job of driving the long hours. He narrates the film as well
using dialogue from the journal that he keeps. Through the imagery and symbolism of the taxi itself,

Taxi Driver Social Disorganization
The film Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese, takes place in New York City during the 1970's.
The main character Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, is a United States Marine returning
home after serving his country. Taxi Driver appears to demonstrate the theory of Social
Disorganization. The audience can see this throughout the film in scenes where Bickle is driving
through the city. As the film continues Bickle appears to struggle with adjusting to such a large city
and coping with his sanity. This film takes a look at how Social Disorganization along with a mental
illness can contribute to someone's actions and behavior.
Travis Bickle is an extremely complex individual. It appears Bickle's mental state is deteriorating
after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps and seeing combat action in Vietnam.
Bickle seems to be an insomniac unable to sleep at night, part of the reason why he wants to drive a
taxi cab at night. Struggling to sleep, Bickle also consumes alcohol at various times of the day. The

Martin Scorsese beautifully demonstrates what a socially disorganized city might reflect. Whenever
Bickle is driving his taxi cab at night the audience can see prostitution, pimping, assault, robbery,
and drug dealing. In the movie one can see that there are really no institutions exhorting their control
over society. With a lack of control from institutions such as religion, politics, and school it allows
crime to take over and become a societal norm. Bickle sees that crime is rampant within the city and
refers to these individuals as "scum." It is very apparent that social disorganization has especially
taken hold of the inner city, or "Zone of Transition," which is where most minorities reside and
where most crime occurs. Bickle unfortunately both lives and primarily works in this

What Is The Theme Of Taxi Driver
Travis Bickle is a Vietnam War veteran and now works as a taxi driver in New York, metropolitan
city. All through the night, he works alone on a taxicab because he can't sleep at night.
Every single day of his life, Travis lives alone, without his family, any friend and lover. He doesn't
talk to anybody, but he spent his lifetime watching porn and thinking about himself. Therefore, he
seems to be alienated from others and the society.
Travis feels lonely in his situations, which appear in the film. His loneliness ruins himself gradually.
Because of his loneliness, finally, Travis almost kills himself.

He often can't help doing the reverse of what he really wants to do, because of his self–
consciousness and high self–esteem. In Taxi Driver, Travis Bickle inherits those lonely natures, an
ambivalent feeling between the desire for others and his self–consciousness.
The third motif, Arthur Bremer of An Assassin's Diary reflected in the script and Travis Bickle. In
the film, Travis attempts to assassinate a presidential candidate Palatine. Before Taxi Driver was
released, a young white man, Arthur Bremer actually attempted to assassinate presidential candidate
George Wallace in 1972.
In 1950, Arthur Bremer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the United States. Although he was an
average person at a glance, he was so introverted that he doesn't have any friends and lover. When
he was 21 years old, he met a girl, but finally she went away from him after he took her to porn
cinema. Since she rejected him, Arthur dreamed that assassinating President Nixon and presidential

Martin Scorse's Taxi Driver
Martin Scorses's Taxi Driver is the distinct cry of mid–1970's America. American society was
becoming fabricated, alienated, and distrustful. Above all, American society was throwing away the
values of the older days and trying to replace its anger and discontent with violence and paranoia.
In the film the viewer is painfully close to its main character, Travis Bickle. This is written in a
narration form of a diary he writes in from time to time. Bickle is consistently portrayed as a lonely
but unrecognized veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving the war, Bickle tries to find some sort of
purpose in a new 1970's America. However, the protagonist finds himself often alienated from
society as well as disgusted by it. Bickle goes through several phases of crises, which all lead up to
violence. This is majorly due to his experiences as a war veteran and his inability to conduct himself
along with his emotions in a normal manner.
The Vietnam War was the first war to be televised and this was a shock to the American people. It
was able to show the most gritty and realistic side of war, which was very unlike the glorified
visions of victory and valor that films had portrayed. The veterans of war were promised a
homecoming and instead, they were unwelcomed and homeless. For the rest of the American public,
living was becoming uncontrollable and so was the government. Society's issues such as
abandonment and rotting cities were also touching Hollywood and its filmmakers. Old

Analysis Of Taxi Driver
Written by Paul Schrader and directed by Martin Scorsese "Taxi Driver" is a movie designed around
a marine veteran, Travis, who becomes a taxi driver in New York. He sets off to have a relationship
like he sees all over town. However, Travis is pretty bad about forming relationships even with
coworkers which spill into a relationship he tries to form and utterly fails. Besides being rejected he
originally seems like he is going down the wrong path, but the sequence of events changes and he
becomes a "hero". Overall, this movie was created wonderfully and the amazing acting performance
from Robert De Niro as Travis really took this film to another level. The acting on top of the music
and the background of the city throughout the movie allows the viewer to feel like they are in the
streets of New York with them. One of the best scenes was when Travis went on a date with Betsy
after taking her to breakfast. For the date Travis decides to take her to an adult film playing at a
movie theater and she even says she doesn't like these types of movies. Travis assures her the movie
is good and during the movie Betsy leaves the theater telling Travis how horrible it was. This is one
of the first scenes that allow us to understand something is not exactly right with Travis. This with
the inability to sleep and being a veteran leads the audience to believe he has Post–Traumatic Stress
Disorder. The fact that Travis sees nothing wrong with the movie selection is a key part to

How to be the best defensive driver It is crucial for defensive drivers to be fully aware of all the

Argumentative Essay On Truck Drivers
Driving a semi–truck isn't the most glamorous job in the world. It requires long hours, days, or
weeks, away from home, and it's physically demanding. Still, there are thousands of truck drivers
across the country that truly wouldn't have it any other way. To these hardy folks, driving a big rig
isn't just a job, it's a way of life. Surely, they must receive some sort of perks that make it all worth
while? Yes, they do. In fact, there are three major benefits of working for an OTR trucking company
that keep drivers rolling along.
Excellent Pay
For the most part, newly licensed truck drivers can expect to enter the job market with a salary of
somewhere around $45,000 the first year. Depending upon the company they work for, and the
cargo they haul, experienced driver's pay can reach six digits. What's more, they often receive
benefits such as a 401K, health insurance, and bonuses. This is exceptional, especially when you
consider the fact that obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL) takes weeks, rather than years.

CDL holders with a clean record, who are safety conscious and professional are among the most
valuable employees. They can easily move from one company to another, often increasing their pay
along the way. There are also ample opportunities for advancement, such as obtaining a HAZMAT
endorsement, or working in the oil and gas industry, both of which command an even higher salary.
For those that prefer to work on their own, becoming an independent owner/operator is always an
option. This kind of job security is unheard of in most industries.

Driver Responsibility Program Analysis
According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the state
of Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a traffic ticket
offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to pay annual
surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as driving without
insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering their car, getting their
license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on the Texas roads. Drivers
aren't automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or car accidents, but a point
system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in a three–year period, a
surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver's license. Even for those who
know about the payment options, though, the application process can be burdensome, critics say. It
requires applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial documentation, including an
income tax form.
Bill Lewis testified on behalf of 'Mothers Against Drunk Driving', an organization that supported the
program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better assist
the millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is
unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion
dollars billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected. The reason for this law is,

recession, considered one of the worst time periods in the history of the city due to the increased

Being In A Car With A Drunk Driver

Many people think that it is just "unlucky" to get stopped for drunk driving, or operating while

Scorsese displayed in his film was jazz music. After most important scenes a specific jazz melody

On the other hand, he gets anger about the society, because of his high self–esteem and self– consciousness. Although he suffers from his loneliness, there is an ambivalent feeling to others in somewhere of his mind. Dostoevsky's Notes from the Underground is separated into two parts. The first part, "Underground" is narrated by the underground man like a soliloquy, in his point of view. Like being in a dark underground, he writes these notes in his room alone, with his high self–esteem and self– consciousness. He often thinks about the society where he and others are, but now he withdrew in his world. The second part, "Apropos of the Wet Snow" is the underground man's young age memories, when he used to have real communications with others, like his old classmates, his employee, and a whore, although it is not always better. He often gets angry about those persons and despises, on the other hand, he still wants communications with them. • 7. Robert De Niro's Taxi Driver Robert De Niro's terrifyingly realistic portrayal of Travis Bickle, a lonely Vietnam war veteran in the film Taxi Driver, is a performance that has captivated audiences for more than thirty years and that will never be forgotten. De Niro's masterful performance sees him use complete control over his body and voice to allow his characterization of Travis to reflect a certain atmosphere. With only minimal speaking throughout, he manages to use subtle facial, body, and eye movements to expose the film's themes of loneliness, alienation, anger, and redemption. In fact, the opening scene itself is a perfect example of how subtle gestures can effectively convey a film's mood. The very first scene exposes a pair of fatigued eyes, moving slowly from one side of the screen to the other with an anxious expression. De Niro, with the use of only a pair of eyes, catapults the viewer into the dark, surreal world of New York City, the space in which his severely disturbed character inhabits. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Off the screen, he has a reputation for being rather illusive and hard to get a hold of. These qualities just happen to be things that accurately describe Travis' character in the film. De Niro and Martin Scorsese, the director, were fully aware of this on–screen and off–screen mythology. They embraced it with this character in full force. Both being New York City natives, the two understood the effects that living in the city could have on an individual's psyche, and they utilized this knowledge to great effect. The film is a psychological thriller that deals with Travis Bickle's mental instability and desire to do something meaningful with his life. The narrative centers around Travis' loneliness and disconnect from society. The inciting incident occurs when Travis notices Betsy for the first time. Travis becomes obsessed with Betsy, who works in a presidential campaign office for Charles Palantine. His pursuit for Betsy comes to a halt when he takes her out to a pornographic film, and Betsy understandably feels very uncomfortable. • 17. Taxi Driver Identity Essay Identity is a recurring theme and central plot element in many Martin Scorsese films, and Taxi Driver is no different. The article "Portraits of the postmodern person in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull; and The King of Comedy" written by Barbara Mortimer discusses how identity can make up the backbone of a character, but also how gender is another fixed view of identity. The bulk of the article has to do with the female identity in both the males and females of three of Scorsese's films, which includes Taxi Driver. The main talking point of the article is its thorough break down of major characters in the films. Mortimer does a good job of discussing the male characters and connecting them to the females. It also connects the major themes in the movies to those of the characters decisions and motivations. Mortimer keeps a postmodern view point of all of the connections, which gives it a ... A picture comes to mind of a frazzled man or woman driving a beat up Oldsmobile; cigarette dangling from the lip of their mouth, swerving in and out of traffic while others beep their horns in disapproval. This type of driver can occur when a competent driver has had a bad day and is encountering the overly cautious driver. Stereotypically this driver is younger in age and male, but I feel that the reckless driver has no set age or sex. They get so angry for the smallest of reasons that they don't really care what they do as a result, so long as they go out in a blaze of glory. They tend to disregard most driving signs and have no qualms about risking their life or the lives of others. These are the drivers who barely apply the brake when coming to a stop, more like "tap tap and go". My uncle Jim is a prime example of a reckless driver. At the age of 82, he drives a boat of a Cadillac, commanding the streets with his led foot and somewhat latent reactions to those around him. Tractor–trailer rigs in particular, haul cargo over longer distances than those covered by local delivery trucks. Because of this, they carry much heavier loads and can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. This makes them 20 to 30 times heavier than the average car. Truck drivers must obey the same traffic rules as other vehicles on the road and like many motorists, their negligence can cause an accident. As CPU's were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CPU, memory and resources are divided amongst the OSes by the Virtual Machine Monitors, where the Virtual Machine resides. The Virtual Machine is a software abstraction that will behave as though it is a complete machine, with virtual hardware resources, RAM, and I/O hardware [1]. There are two main approaches to virtualization: hosted architecture, and hypervisor architecture. In hosted architecture, the encapsulation layer is installed in the form of an application on the Operating System, while the hypervisor architecture involves the installing of the encapsulation layer, or hypervisor, on a clean system, which gives direct access to the system's resources [2]. The issue of virtualization is that the virtualized OSes do not have full access to hardware resources and memory. They expect to execute within a high privilege level. The VMM is run in this high layer, while the OS is moved to the user level, above the application level. This change in privilege requires costly saving and restoring, and system calls can lead to some CPU cache loss. Instead, a translation look–aside buffer, or TLB, is used upon VMM entry and exit to cache physical and virtual address translation [3]. Because different privilege levels also effect semantics, binary translation is used to make up for the move. • 53. Martin Scorse's Taxi Driver Martin Scorses's Taxi Driver is the distinct cry of mid–1970's America. American society was becoming fabricated, alienated, and distrustful. Above all, American society was throwing away the values of the older days and trying to replace its anger and discontent with violence and paranoia. In the film the viewer is painfully close to its main character, Travis Bickle. This is written in a narration form of a diary he writes in from time to time. Bickle is consistently portrayed as a lonely but unrecognized veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving the war, Bickle tries to find some sort of purpose in a new 1970's America. However, the protagonist finds himself often alienated from society as well as disgusted by it. Bickle goes through several phases of crises, which all lead up to violence. This is majorly due to his experiences as a war veteran and his inability to conduct himself along with his emotions in a normal manner. The Vietnam War was the first war to be televised and this was a shock to the American people. It was able to show the most gritty and realistic side of war, which was very unlike the glorified visions of victory and valor that films had portrayed. The acting on top of the music and the background of the city throughout the movie allows the viewer to feel like they are in the streets of New York with them. One of the best scenes was when Travis went on a date with Betsy after taking her to breakfast. For the date Travis decides to take her to an adult film playing at a movie theater and she even says she doesn't like these types of movies. Travis assures her the movie is good and during the movie Betsy leaves the theater telling Travis how horrible it was. This is one of the first scenes that allow us to understand something is not exactly right with Travis. This with the inability to sleep and being a veteran leads the audience to believe he has Post–Traumatic Stress Disorder. • 59. Argumentative Essay On Truck Drivers Driving a semi–truck isn't the most glamorous job in the world. It requires long hours, days, or weeks, away from home, and it's physically demanding. Still, there are thousands of truck drivers across the country that truly wouldn't have it any other way. To these hardy folks, driving a big rig isn't just a job, it's a way of life. Surely, they must receive some sort of perks that make it all worth while? Yes, they do. In fact, there are three major benefits of working for an OTR trucking company that keep drivers rolling along. Excellent Pay For the most part, newly licensed truck drivers can expect to enter the job market with a salary of somewhere around $45,000 the first year. Depending upon the company they work for, and the cargo they haul, experienced driver's pay can reach six digits. What's more, they often receive benefits such as a 401K, health insurance, and bonuses. This is exceptional, especially when you consider the fact that obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL) takes weeks, rather than years. • 61. Driver Responsibility Program Analysis According to Oxford Dictionaries, surcharge mean: An additional charge or payment. For the state of Texas and New Jersey, this law has been put in place for their drivers who commit a traffic ticket offence. The Driver Responsibility Program, created in 2003, requires drivers to pay annual surcharges on top of the fines and legal fees attached to traffic violations, such as driving without insurance or while intoxicated. These surcharges keep people from registering their car, getting their license and being legal on the road. This law have more illegal drivers on the Texas roads. Drivers aren't automatically levied surcharges for minor tickets for speeding or car accidents, but a point system is used to punish repeat offenders. If a driver accrues six points in a three–year period, a surcharge is assessed. Failure to pay results in a suspended driver's license. Even for those who know about the payment options, though, the application process can be burdensome, critics say. It requires applicants to get documents notarized and to provide financial documentation, including an income tax form. Bill Lewis testified on behalf of 'Mothers Against Drunk Driving', an organization that supported the program when it was first enacted but now wants lawmakers to reform the program to better assist the millions of drivers caught up in the surcharges. Staudt said she believes the program is unconstitutional because it penalizes drivers twice for the same violation. Out of the 3.2 billion dollars billed to Texas drivers only 1.2 billion dollars has been collected. Travis' views the city negatively, referring to it as an "open sewer". This establishes his perspective that crime is environmental; a by–product of New York City itself. Taxi Driver is set in the 1970's, a period which saw the aftermath of the Vietnam War and New York City suffer from an economic recession, considered one of the worst time periods in the history of the city due to the increased crime rates (Bobbe, 2013). Taxi Driver Social Context Taxi Driver, a 1976 thriller directed by Martin Scorsese grants onlookers a grimy view into the lonely, slowly deteriorating life of the disturbed New York City cabbie Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro), a Vietnam War veteran. Viewers are guided through Bickle's take on N.Y.C. through the masterful use of aesthetically pleasing camera techniques such as the "rule of thirds" that bring focus onto the characters onscreen without causing the eye discomfort. Sound choices further immerse the audience in the buildup to and execution of up–close, violent, and mental action that ensues later in Travis' story. A sensation of being led by the background to the image of Travis may be noticed by the viewer, as the angle of said background "tilts" towards Travis' image. Making use of this technique both accents and emphasizes Bickle's presence onscreen. "Leading lines" camerawork does not disappear from the film, either. It also makes sense to advertise in directed mediums, like in truck stops across the country. If the organization has the money to invest, they could also "build" their talent and provide training to the people they want to put into their talent pipeline by providing courses leading to CDL licensure. This could create a sense of commitment to the organization and reduce turnover. As far as selection, job history data may be more relevant to these jobs than it is to others. It would also be wise to check into any criminal history the person has. Verification of both of these sources is absolutely key to success.
