2. • A table of contents - also referred to as
simply 'contents' - is a list of what topics are
included in a specific literary work. The point
of making the table is simple. If the reader
wants to scroll to one part of the book or
thesis which grabs his attention, he should
know on what page he is supposed to go to
in order to find what it is that he is looking for.
3. • The table of contents contains two main things:
the title and the page number on which it can be
found. A very important thing here is to ensure
that the title makes complete sense and doesn't
leave the reader guessing what it could be about.
Make sure that the title of each of the parts of the
table is self-explanatory and does not confuse
the reader.
4. • Insert a blank page in your Word paper.
• Title “TABLE OF CONTENTS”, and should be written
CAPITALIZED
• Write each chapter , specifying its number and its title. Bellow
each chapter insert the sub-chapter by providing the page
numbers where they can be found.
• Subheading level = heading level.
• The numeration is usually written in Roman numerals, and the
sub-chapters in Arabic numerals.
• It is recommended to use dot leaders to indicate the page
numbers where the headings or subheadings can be found.
The page numbers should be aligned to the right.
5. • Example:
TABLE OF CONTENTS

I.1. Thesis Statement……………………………….….…… 3
I.2. Objective of the Study…………………….……………3
I.3. Hypothesis of the Study………………….……………...4
*Required to include the chapters and the sub-chapters within

number provided in the table of contents.
*The same font, size, style, and format.
