to determine if a wine is of high quality.
Swirl the wine in your glass and put your nose up to
the glass and take a sniff of the wine. The smell of the
wine should be either fruity or floral. The stronger the

Wine Tasting
 Taste the wine using your tongue. Take a sip of wine
and move it over your tongue. Use your taste buds to
discern the different flavors in the wine. The taste of
the wine should be balanced such that the wine does
not have exceedingly sweet, bitter, sour, or umami
tastes. Also, if all the flavors in the wine linger on the
tongue for a long time, the wine is considered good.
Nevertheless, the taste of a good wine is to a degree
subjective and depends on the choice of the person
selecting the wine.
The next step is testing the depth of the flavor of the
wine. For this, take a moderate sip of wine in your
mouth and hold the wine in your mouth for a time.
Move the wine around inside your mouth to explore if
the wine has a hint of more subtle flavors such as
nuts or chocolate.
