Wat is nanotechnologie ?
• Ontwikkeling, samenvoegen en gebruik van
materialen, componenten en systemen met
gecontroleerde afmetingen op
nanometerschaal
• Nieuwe-of sterk verbeterde fysische,
chemische, biologische eigenschappen die
het gevolg zijn van hun nano afmeting.

Quantum dots change color with size because additional
energy is required to “confine” the semiconductor
excitation to a smaller volume.

A p-n junction is formed by placing p-type and n-type semiconductors next to one another.
The p-type, with one less electron, attracts the surplus electron from the n-type to stabilize
itself. Thus the electricity is displaced and generates a flow of electrons, otherwise known as
electricity. When sunlight hits the semiconductor, an electron springs up and is attracted
toward the n-type semiconductor. This causes more negatives in the n-type semiconductors
and more positives in the p-type, thus generating a higher flow of electricity. This is the

Atomen: het alfabet van de materie
It would be very easy to make an analysis of any
complicated chemical substance; all one would
have to do is to look at it and see where the
atoms are… I put it as a challenge. Is there no
way to make the electron microscope more
powerful? (Richard Feynman: There is plenty
of room at the bottom: an invitation to enter a
new field of physics.)

Semiconductor nanowires and their heterojunctions can have
optimized light absorption, high charge mobility, efficient charge
separation and collection, and reduced recombination –
The n/n heterojunction is a promising structure for solar water splitting
since the photovoltage at the junction can compensate for the lower
energy level of the conduction band of the shell semiconductor
Require dramatic improvements in efficiency and durability before
they can be considered for practical application - Gust

The p-type, with one less electron, attracts the surplus electron from the n-type to stabilize itself. Thus the electricity is displaced and generates a flow of electrons, otherwise known as electricity. When sunlight hits the semiconductor, an electron springs up and is attracted toward the n-type semiconductor. This causes more negatives in the n-type semiconductors and more positives in the p-type, thus generating a higher flow of electricity. This is the http://www.azonano.com/details.asp?ArticleID=2428 photovoltaic effect.
