At the core of Azure is its global infrastructure that spans 38 regions worldwide. We have the largest footprint of any cloud provider – 2X that of AWS.

newest version
Key talking points: From the beginning of Azure Virtual Machine, for all Internet facing Virtual Machines that have two or more instances deployed in the same Availability Set, we guarantee you will have external connectivity at least 99.9% of the time.
Now, Azure is offering a service level agreement for a single virtual machine when the virtual machine is deployed with SSD backed premium storage.
Key talking points: Today disk management is a fairly complex process. Users must understand service limits of storage accounts and directly manage page blobs in one or more storage accounts to ensure they have enough storage capacity and IOPs. Availability is also an issue as a storage account could potentially be a single point of failure.
Managed disks solves the availability problem by ensuring the disks are created on physically separate stamps of storage when provisioned with VMs in an availability set.
Another key aspect of managed disks is the ability to control access to the disk through role based access control. This is the same security mechanism Azure uses to grant access to other resources in Azure. The underlying VHDs for managed disks are not exposed directly to users. This will mitigate the risk of users going behind the controls of RBAC and accessing via the storage account directly.

http://www.geekwire.com/2017/serverless-nirvana-microsoft-azure-cto-mark-russinovich-future-cloud/
Web App on Linux :
Dans Bash for Windows
cd /mnt/c/Users/benjat/Desktop
mkdir demo
cd demo
express demobenjat
cd demobenjat
git init
git add .
git commit -m "intial commit"
git remote add azure xxxx
git push azure master

Security. We take your security very seriously—we spend over a billion dollars a year on our security practices and technologies. Our comprehensive approach to security helps protect your data wherever it may be—in the datacenter, on a phone, on a desktop, or en route through the Internet.
Privacy and control. At Microsoft, we fundamentally believe that customers’ data is their own data, whether it sits in our cloud or in their own datacenter. We invest heavily in technology development and practices to ensure we actively protect your privacy and provide the necessary tools to control both the privacy and administrative aspects of the data you put in the Microsoft Cloud.
Compliance. Our extensive experience working with the world’s largest governments and enterprises in the most highly regulated industries has been transferred to our cloud services. Our investments in compliance-related technology, resources, and staff help ensure that we are proactively adopting new certifications and partnering with regulators and standards bodies to develop new regulation and standards when we identify opportunities to increase digital privacy and safety.
Transparency. Transparency plays an important role in developing trust—we work tirelessly to increase not only our own transparency, but the transparency of the industry and its regulators. We publish reports detailing government requests for customer data. We notify individual customers when the government requests data from their data or applications when legally allowed to do so. Finally, we submit to a set of third-party audits and publish the results for our customers.
Reliability. Microsoft invests in state of the art hardware and infrastructure to meet customers’ immediate needs and anticipate future requirements. We provide world-class availability, recovery and backup capabilities for organizations around the world with industry-leading, financially-backed uptime commitment. We proactively publish service health information for increased access to key availability information for Azure Status at https://status.azure.com, with Office and Dynamics at Office 365 uptime stats.
Platform:
We are building a platform that looks holistically across all the critical end-points in today’s cloud and mobile world.
From the very beginning, we architect our cloud services with a multilayer, virtual, and physical set of security isolation. In addition, we have proactive and reactive threat monitoring and analytics that goes on all the time. We also encrypt customer data at rest, encrypt customer data in transit, and encrypt all the customer data between our datacenters. We do not engineer backdoors into our services.
We also believe that security doesn’t end in the public cloud. Security needs to be end to end, from the public cloud all the way to the desktop. Here are a few concrete examples to provide our customers the assurance they need to feel protected:
SQL Always Encrypted give customers the tools to encrypt sensitive data, such as credit card numbers and national identification numbers, stored in Azure SQL Database or SQL Server databases, ensuring separation between those who own the data (i.e. your business/authorized users) and those who manage the data (i.e. cloud database operators, administrators).
Organization against identity compromise and pass-the-hash attacks using the multi-factor authentication and Credential Guard technology already built into Windows 10. You can easily go beyond passwords and move to more secure forms of authentication, such as PINs and bio-metrics, using the security capabilities you already have built into your Windows devices.
Partners:
Microsoft is fostering a vibrant ecosystem of partners who help us raise the bar across the industry.
Because no single company can do this alone, we partner with other organizations in our industry to share insights and fight cybercrime and cyber threats together.
We partner with a diverse range of the world’s leading security experts to drive innovation in security technology and practices. From our investments in new technologies to advocacy work with lawmakers, Microsoft actively drives innovation through sponsorship programs and direct research and development.
Intelligence:
Our platform and services offer an unparalleled depth of security-intelligence that we use to help our customers detect and respond more quickly to threats.
Our intelligence comes from global sources. We have over a billion customers using our services, both on the consumer side with services like Xbox Live as well as on the business or commercial side with services like Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics, and Microsoft Azure. These services create trillions of data points coming in from billions of end points.
We update Windows over a billion times a month. We inspect over 200 million emails as part of the Office 365 service for malware. We also see over 300 billion user authentications each month.
Our unique perspective spans both consumers and commercial, giving us a very holistic view of what's happening, a great sampling of what's happening in terms of both the attack vectors and how one responds to them.
We examine this intelligence with machine learning and behavioral analytics to look for malicious characteristics, such as executable code or requests for elevated privileges.
We build this threat intelligence technology into the core of our products, enabling our customers to be better equipped to secure their environment.
We are aware that not all of our customer use only Microsoft products. We are working to make this threat intelligence available for all of the services and solutions our customers use through our security and management services, such as Azure AD Premium, OMS, and Cloud App Security.
We have created a Cybersecurity Defense Operations Center that brings together all of our security experts across the company so they can help detect, respond to, and protect from threats in real time.
Additionally, we are using our insights to drive innovation in cybersecurity—proactively developing new technology and practices that help us secure your environment.
We are transforming our products to handle today’s threats. Windows and Office are now as-a-service products, enabling us to continually ensure your environment is equipped with the latest security from the location of your data to each end point.
Gain visibility and control
Get a central view of the security state of all your Azure resources. At a glance, you could verify that the appropriate security controls are in place. And, you could quickly identify any resources that require attention.
Enable secure DevOps
Say ‘Yes’ to agility by enabling DevOps with policy-driven recommendations that guide resource owners through the process of implementing required controls – taking the guesswork out of cloud security.
Stay ahead of threats
Stay ahead of current and emerging threats with an integrated and analytics-driven approach. Detect actual threats earlier and reduce false alarms.
Key goal of slide: More evidence of our commitment and continued investments in compliance. Microsoft has the largest compliance portfolio in the industry.
https://blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issues/2017/04/17/earning-trust-contractual-commitments-general-data-protection-regulation/
If your organization collects, hosts or analyzes personal data of EU residents, GDPR provisions require you to use third-party data processors who guarantee their ability to implement the technical and organizational requirements of the GDPR.
