Buzz Lightyear
What did Woody say to Buzz Lightyear? A lot. There were three movies! Toy Story being Pixar's
first feature film in 1995, was nominated for awards by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and
Sciences. In 1979 Pixar Animation Studios was founded as Graphics Group. It was originally the
computer division of Lucasfilm, and became its own corporation in 1986 with funding from Apple
cofounder Steve Jobs. People tend to think of creativity as a mysterious solo act, and they typically
reduce products to a single idea. Creativity must be present at every level of an organization. In
filmmaking and other kinds of complex product development, creativity involves a large number of
people from different limitations working effectively together to solve ... Show more content on

Before the merging, Disney had a leader that was ineffective and it showed in the work they
produced. I believe Catmull and Lasseter follow the House's Path–Goal theory of leadership. The
basis of path–goal is that effective leaders motivate subordinates to achieve goals by 1: Clearly
identifying the outcomes that subordinates are trying to obtain from the workplace. In the Disney–
Pixar aspect, the main goal of everyone is to come up with new innovated film ideas that have never
been done before. Always trying to push the envelope. This in an interesting job assignment, very
challenging this day and age because everything is just getting bigger and bigger. 2: Rewarding
subordinates with these outcomes for high performance and the attainment of work goals. I would
think there would be compensation for producing a box office hit. There is a shared interest in
everyone's success. They really are a team, the success of a movie counts on each and every person
involved. And 3: Clarifying for subordinates the paths leading to the attainment of work goals. To
remove any obstacles, the company created an environment where they remove the power structure.
"Everyone's notes are equal." Everyone is encouraged to share ideas freely and honest feedback is
given. This allows employees to

Spirited Away Analysis
In Hayao Miyazaki's breathtaking film, Spirited Away we are introduced to 10–year–old Chihiro and
her parents who stumble upon a seemingly abandoned amusement park. After her mother and father
turn into giant pigs, Chihiro meets the mysterious Haku, who explains the park is a resort for the
supernatural beings who need a break from the earthly realm, and that she must work there to free
herself and her parents. Our young protagonist is shown to be a childish, easily–scared, and whiny
girl. But after her experiences at the bathhouse and the Spirit World, she will mature into a capable
adult. Chihiro's growth into a capable individual is a core factor to the movement of Spirited Away's
plot.
Spirited Away begins with a quick paced car ride in which we meet the young protagonist, Chihiro.
A melancholy child whom ironically holds a bouquet of bright flowers to her chest, which we learn
was a farewell gift from her friend on Chihiro's moving day. Chihiro and her parents stumble upon a
ominous tunnel as they search for their new home. The tunnel lures Chihiro's parents inside, causing
the young child to quickly rush and cling to her mother in fear of being alone, like any child would.
Upon entering the Spirit World, they stumble upon a festive amusement park that has seemingly just
been abandoned. During this scene Chihiro's parents morph into gluttonous pigs, consumed by their
own greed and hunger upon eating offerings that were meant for the spirits. Young Chihiro now left

Essay on Monsters Inc
Monsters Inc. is an incredible animated movie (by Pixar Studios, 2001, and directed by Pete Doctor)
about monsters working in a scare factory. Proudly, the scare factory – a pillar in the community – is
a workplace in a monster world where monsters scare children. Through a high–tech system, doors
are brought to the factory that, if activated, allows the monsters to enter the child's room through the
youngster's closet. The scream produced by the child creates energy for the monster world, so that
monsters can do everyday things, such as quickly turning on a light or vacuuming the carpet.
However, this is not an easy job because children are extremely toxic to monsters (who tremble
when a child is near), and are also becoming increasingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, if the conflict was, "All of the sudden, grandma's laundry flew off the line", the reader
would probably lose interest in the story unless he or she was a launderer or happened to be
grandma. If the conflict was, "But then, Mark turned around just in time to deflect a blow from
somebody with a crowbar! He looked closer, and it turned out that it was not one attacker, but five!
And they were all married to him!" the reader would probably get his interest perked up quite a few
degrees north. The conflict, "One day, a child stepped out through the door" does not have an
interesting sound to it at all. For this essay of critique, however, the conflict unfortunately is, "One
day, a child stepped out through the door". That is not what the majority of the educated population
would call an invigorating conflict, but it is advisable to keep reading, for one cannot always judge a
story by its conflict.) One day, a child stepped out through the door. It was all an accident, because
Sulley spotted a door that he thought was mistakenly left on, and he opened it to check if there were
any monsters inside. Strangely there were not, but when he closed the door and turned around to
leave, a human child, who was a tiny girl, was taking a ride on his tail! Sulley panicked, and tried to
get rid of her, but she was more dexterous then he. What could Sulley do?!? Panting, Sulley ran to
his pal Mike, and they both tried to get rid of her, but she ultimately ended up

The Fox and the Hound in the Walt Disney Studios: John...
John Lasseter, now the famous Chief Creative Officer of Pixar and Disney, overcame failures and
mistakes like everyone else to get to where he is today. He was born and grew up in Los Angeles,
California. He went to California Institute of Arts. After graduating from school, he began working
for Walt Disney Company. Lasseter was eventually fired but found work at Lucasfilm Computer
Graphics Group, which also ended in a short time. After failing to keep his jobs, he sought for
something new. This was when he joined the Pixar Animation Studios along with Edwin Catmull
and Steve Jobs.
While attending school at the California Institute of Arts, Lasseter created two Student Academy
Award– winning, black and white short films called Lady and the Lamp and Nitemare. These
animated films were his first animated movies. After graduation, Lasseter worked on the heart–
warming movie called The Fox and the Hound in the Walt Disney Studios. He eventually left
Disney and started his own career by joining Pixar. In 1984 he decided to work at Pixar Animation
Studios for a month but he stayed and never left its side since. This became the place for where he
found the freedom to produce computer–animated works like he's always wanted to. After several
years working diligently on another short film called Tin Toy, he decided to release the movie in
1988 . This was the first fully computer animated, three–dimensional movie to give Lasseter an
Oscar.

Manifest And Latent Content In The Toy Story Movies
The Toy Story movies by Pixar Animation Studios are three movies that hold many messages for the
people that choose to view the films. There are two types of content that are present in movies and
books, but the content is much more important in children's movies because the media can teach the
children how to interact socially when they are older. The content of media can be broken down into
two different categories that are called manifest and latent content. Manifest content is the intended
message of the media, which is what the media is trying to promote for the young viewers and
readers of children's books and movies (Structural Functionalism, 2017). There are more many
different examples of manifest content throughout the three Toy Story movies, but some stand out
more than others. One of the main messages of Toy Story is that teamwork is key, and it is important
to work together in order to achieve success (Disney, 2016). The latent content of media are the
messages that are unintended and may have a negative impact on the young consumers of content
(Structural Functionalism, 2017). An example of latent content from Toy Story 3 is that once
someone is of no use, their lives should end (Cubria, 2014). The manifest and latent content of the
Toy Story movies are very important for the social upbringings of the young viewers of the Pixar
franchise. There are many instances in the Toy Story movies that send intended messages to the
young viewers. These manifest messages

Advantages Of Computer Invented Animation
Walt Disney animation
Hand drawn vs. Computerised
Walt Disney, a household name for kids and adults alike, the power house of kid's animation!
This was up till its last drawn animation of The Lion King in 1994, when other animators like Pixar
and DreamWorks came up with more modern computerised 3D films, such as Toy Story in 1995;
Ants in 1998 and Shrek in 2001. All these animations had box office success and all were computer
generated.
While Disney was producing hand drawn animation like Hercules, Brother Bear and Fantasia they
were falling behind and losing vast amounts of money. The fact that not one of these movies made it
into the top of the charts fuelled rumours that they might close down the animation section.
A joint venture
Andrew Millstein, the president of Disney Animation Studios, joined the company in 1997 as a
production executive in the modern pictures group. In 2001 Millstein was named the senior Vice ...

It was this new found ownership that gave them back the freedom to think and use their imagination.
Disney had the notion of making films that is meant for not only little boys and girls but once again
for the whole family to enjoy.
Big Hero leadership
Late in the Filming of Big Hero 6, a different team was brought in to assist with the films creative
leadership, a strategy that worked for Disney, as everyone was now working together. This meant
that they could take collective ownership and were no longer competing with each other. This gave
new meaning to the much used phrase 'thinking outside the box' by putting their trust in the creative
powers of their animators. People were once again free to utilise their imagination to touch and

Pixar: A Huge Fan Of Pixar
I would like to start out by saying that I am a huge fan of Pixar , that being said I might be a little
one sided to this essay. I liked how Marti started off the first paragraph my introducing the movie,
and the main idea of the movie. I also enjoyed how the second paragraph started by telling the story
of the movie. I think that it is was important to know the story that the writer is talking about,
although I have seen the movie many people might not have. I enjoyed this essays point on how this
movie is attention grabbing to all ages. Many would assume that since this is a cartoon, that it is
mainly for children's enjoyment, but that is not the case. Marti talks about how in the movie there is

1.2.2.3. Social factors The demographics of the population that like animation encompasses baby

exposure for the animation industry (See Exhibit 1 for Percentage of total births). Therefore the
social factors are also favorable. Exhibit 1: Percentage of total births 1.2.2.4. Technological factors
The technological factors in the animation industry are not really favorable. Though there are

Analysis Of The Movie ' Spirited Away ' And Ponyo '
Director Miyazaki illustrated in "Spirited Away" and "Ponyo" how love, identity, perseverance, and
adversity can conquer anything. At the beginning of the movies, we see how food and water set
Chihiro, Sosuke, and Ponyo's entire adventures, and the conflict they endure and how they were
perceived in the spirit and human worlds. The spirit world was less tolerant of anything different
whereas the human world was more welcoming; however, they both illustrated the same message
about how people should be more open–minded and to be more accepting. An example in "Spirited
Away" showed how the Spirit world viewed Chihiro as nothing more than just a human being who
came to their world to cause trouble, according to Yubaba; whereas in the human world, Ponyo was
welcomed by Sosuke, even though at the start of the movie, Ponyo was appeared to be a goldfish,
nevertheless she was still welcomed by a human. The narrator showed his audience how difficult it
was for Chihiro in the spirit world, in "Spirited Away", but, Ponyo was the opposite in the human
world but she still had adversity. By the contrast of both worlds, Miyazaki is showing his audience
how humans are more accepting of things that are different vs the spirit world which rejects
differences. The storyteller showed a scene in "Spirited Away" where Yubaba tried to trick Chihiro
into choosing her parents from a group of sprit she had turned into pigs, but it didn't work the way
Yubaba wanted it to, because Chihiro was able

Finding Dory: Pixar's Opinion
Opinion columns are published in media sources to reflect a journalist's opinion on a specific
subject. Following the structure of various online opinion columns, I decided to share my opinion of
Pixar's success, 'Finding Dory'. What I loved about this film was the message about empowering
those with disabilities by advocating that there are no limitations if one persists. Specifically
focussing on their recent film Finding Dory, the title of my article "Finding Dory is more than just
another Pixar animation" indicates the focus of the film in a positive light.

Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo has a lot of hidden meaning in the story. Most people can interpret stories in different
ways than others, especially children. I interpret that, in Finding Nemo, Marlin not only wants what
is best for Nemo, but what is best for the both of them. Don't be stubborn and not listen to your
parents because they always know what's best for you. I think Marlin's definition of what's "best" for
them is a little different than most. He wants to rebuild their colony by repopulating. As a child I
viewed this as just a regular movie, like every child would. No kid is going to know the reproductive
process of clown fish. I used to think that it was about friendship between Nemo and Dory, and that
if you're in times of need, there will always be a friend that will help you, no matter where you are.
It was my favorite movie due to these reasons: it made me happy that Nemo wasn't going through it
alone. Everyone views things differently.
Most people interpret Finding Nemo in a whole entirely different way. It is meant to be portrayed as
expressing the type of things a father would go through to save his son. The theme of this movie is
to not be stubborn and listen because your parents always know what's best for you. Most people
would picture it this way, but there is an entirely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the dominant male. It is not just the fatherly love that Marlin has for Nemo that drives him to save
him, which is the way that most people interpret it. Marlin simply values Nemo more immensely
than just his son because, well, they have to reproduce together, and Nemo is his only hope of doing

Film, Spirited Away, By Miyazaki Hayao
In Miyazaki Hayao's animated film, Spirited Away, Miyazaki presents a young girl Chihiro who
visits an abandoned amusement park, only to become trapped in a fantasy world where spirits
reside. Although most of these creatures are very unique and quite unlike the others, most of them
have one thing in common: their body features are very disproportional compared to the size of their
bodies. This strange similarity depicted by Miyazaki invokes strong feelings of fear and appreciation
in particular for the viewer. While many characters have ominous, creepy appearances similar to that
of a ghost, they still have large eyes, blob–shaped bodies, and they make little–to–no–noise. These
three characteristics emphasize the helplessness– the cuteness–of these creatures. The ominous
appearance of the characters does however quickly begin to clash more obviously with their cute
defining factors. In one early particular scene, Chihiro encounters a radish spirit: a large, round
creature whose body shape resembles a radish. At first, the creature is threatening to the viewer, as it
is large compared to most characters and its appearance is foreign and bizarre. But even though the
spirit appears scary, Chihiro sticks around it briefly, and the viewer is prompted to further observes
its figure. At that point, the the rotundness of the spirit radish's figure becomes more apparent, and
the viewer is lead to see him as not just threatening anymore, but also cute. But things that are cute

Finding Nemo Research Paper
Walt Disney has produced many excellent films over the years such as Toy Story, but Finding Nemo
was not one of their best films. In 2003, Andrew Stanton, the director of Finding Nemo, brought
another animated film to life. From a visual standpoint, Finding Nemo is brilliant. Finding Nemo
has excellent animation, but the story leaves little to love because of its dull, predicable storyline
clichés and its depressing and terrifying storyline that frightens young children. The story is
revolved around a hero expedition voyage for a father, a clown fish, named "Marlin." It begins with
a school of four–hundred fish being murdered by a barracuda. Only two fish survive, a father named
"Marlin" and a son named "Nemo." Marlin is overprotective of his son, Nemo, because Nemo's
mother died right after Nemo was born. This leads to disagreements between them. When class
begins in school, Nemo becomes rebellious, and this creates a string of events that leads him to the
separation of his father. Nemo then gets captured by a dentist and is put into an aquarium in the
dentist's office. Nemo spends time trying to reunite with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soaring on the films list of achievements, is its formation of an undersea wonderland whose bright

critic, Roger Ebert, said the animation, " adds an unexpected beauty, a use of color and form that
makes it one of those rare movies where I wanted to sit in the front row and let the images wash out
to the edges of my field of vision." Finding Nemo has won an Oscar for the "Best Animated Film,"
which is well deserved because the animation was excellent. The film lacked music and songs. None
of the characters ever broke out into the song. Other Disney films, such as The Lion King, had songs

Terminator Essay
It goes without saying that the first two Terminator films (helmed by James Cameron) are works of
cinematic genius. But, in the aftermath of T2: Judgment Day, the Terminator franchise has been
aboard a rocky roller coaster ride that has brandished mixed results – evident in sporadic sequel
releases and constant recasting of familiar characters.
Still, the one constant throughout the majority of the releases has been the fierce involvement of
Arnold Schwarzenegger – who, for better or worse, refuses to put the role as the T–800 in his past.
And thus, after a 12 year absence from the fold, The Governator returns to do what he does best:
kick ass.

bigger bad guy in town this time around. Like past villains, the story finds a way to up the anti, so to

Connor – the unshakable leader of the Resistance. And, there's no finer man to cast in the role than
Jason Clarke – who adds strength and credibility to a character that previous actors, including
Christian Bale, severely lacked.
The cast is undeniably well rounded from top to bottom (including J.K. Simmons in his random
crackpot role), yet it's the unbalance, nonsensical plot that heavily rocks the boat. Genisys returns to
familiar settings, including 1984, which drudges–up plenty of nostalgia from diehard fans of the first

Character Analysis Of Mr. Incredible
However, Mr. Frederickson ignores Russell to continue on trying to navigate it without him. The
purpose behind that is to show some sense of strength, as an old man he won't exhibit super strength
or any sort of power like Mr. Incredible, but instead he exhibits the old saying that with age comes
wisdom; within that scene that is exactly what "strength" he is showing. Mr. Frederickson wants to
show that he is strong and capable enough to get there without help. However, as the movie
progresses his vulnerability becomes more visible. The want to show strength and to appear strong
comes from the emasculation of the characters. Mr. Incredible was this well known superhero that
went around saving the city from robbers, criminals, and other events. However the city soon retired
him for the amount of damage he caused, leading to him having to obtain a real job and provide for
a family. His series of events are Mr. Incredible's emasculation. On the other hand is Mr.
Frederickson, he however was never a superhero or anything of extravagance. Instead, he was the
man in charge of the balloon cart at a zoo. While he wasn't very exciting in the first place, he had
had dreams of being able to retire with his wife at Paradise Falls. Mr. Frederickson's retirement with
his wife never happens sadly. In fact he wasn't truly ever able to retire. The failure to achieve his
dream of retirement at Paradise Falls is the emasculation of Mr. Frederickson. The
failure/emasculation is also the reason

Toy Story Analysis
Toy Story and A Bug's Life film Trailer Comparison Toy Story and A Bug's Life, both directed by
John Lasseter, exercise various cinematic techniques to persuade the trailers viewer to watch the
film. Toy Story and A Bug's Life are adventure comedies full of surprises in which scenes change
from light–heartedness to heart–stopping suspense. The trailers director doesn't give too much away
by revealing only parts of a scene; leaving the viewer frustrated and wanting to know the outcome,
music also generates tension and suspense. In addition, narration is employed in Toy Story to give
the viewer a quick overview of the plot, while in A Bug's Life; only extracts from characters are
used to explain the plot. The light–hearted Toy Story trailer relates to the comedic adventure plot
through humour and a quirky atmosphere. A combination of sound and visuals, ensure a happy, silly
and curious mood that is synonymous with the rest of the trailer. In comparison, A Bug's Life is
exhilarating at the start, with a catchy song which encapsulates the confronting struggles ahead "I'm
here in the fields, I fight for my meals." Both trailers use music to create anticipation which raises a
person's heartbeat, capturing there attention. Anticipation is created through varying the volume,
suddenly changing the tempo of the songs and adding sound effects. Music is a vital technique
because it engages the senses and draws the viewer to become an active bystander in the story.

The Light Of My Creative Expedition Essay
As a young boy, I always was inspired about cartoons and interested in the life–like movements and
charismatic appearances from various characters. Now as a student at Full Sail University, the
remarkable tolerant journey for animation has begun and it is a matter of exploiting perseverance to
pursue my overall achievements. In the light of my creative expedition, there is someone that
encourages me to strive to do my best in all that I encounter upon. Notably, that person is known as
the famous John Lasseter. As most animators may know, John Lasseter sprang upon several
problems throughout his animation career, but in response, he discovered excellent methods to
overcome the high tensions. Personally, I learned vital skills about his lifestyles and personal
preferences when he experienced his downfalls. Henceforth, the imaginative skills attained from
John Lasseter will help define and prepare my future pathway in animation.
First of all, my role model, John Lasseter, is a very fervent forbearing individual. Although he
encountered many predicaments throughout his career, he was still able to achieve his goals of
producing memorable animation movies for Pixar. In due time, Lasseter faced several misfortunes
such as being ignored from his coworkers and employers, losing his job, and working long hours to
produce a couple of films at once. After being hired into Walt Disney Animation Studios, he was
very exhilarated with the experience, but unfortunately there was something

How Did John Lasseter Influence Films?
One way John Lasseter is influencing filmmakers and animators are with his heartfelt story lines.
While his success with films is more well known, his real success started with creating short films
such as Red's Dream and Luxo Jr,. Red's Dream, created in 1987, is arguably one of Lasseter's most
heartfelt short films created, although it never won any awards. This adorable, yet heartbreaking
short is sure to make the audience's hearts feel for the protagonist: a 50% off red unicycle in a bike
shop; "The unicycle dreams of appearing in a circus and capturing the love of audience members,
but awakens in the shop feeling worse, for having had a glimpse at a better life." (Price 101–102).
By adding no dialogue to this animated short film, it allows the audience to believe that the unicycle

Another popular short film is Luxo. Jr, one of Pixar's most popular shorts ever created. Made just
one year before Red's Dream, this short was the starting point of creating emotion through inanimate
objects for Pixar. In a documentary about the history of animation, John Lasseter told the
interviewer, "To make an object look like it's thinking, you need to identify its face and it's head...
For Luxo jr., the light was it's head, and so I started moving it around like it was alive." (n.e).
Lasseters intelligent ideas of identifying where the face and head of an inanimate object are helps
the audience keep track of a character's thoughts and actions and helps the audience believe as

Character Analysis Of Mike Wazowski And Sulley In...
Monsters, Inc. is a well loved childhood movie. Almost everyone has seen it, or at least heard of it.
Mike Wazowski and Sulley are the most established and famous characters from the movie. Mike is
known as Sulley's side kick and accompanies him while he is out scaring. Mike doesn't always agree
with Sulley, but tries to support him as much as possible. Mike Wazowski is known best by his
appearance, his personality, and his humor, or lack thereof. Mike's appearance is a little different
from most of the monsters seen roaming the factory in the parallel city of Monstropolis. Mike isn't
scary, even though that's the entirety of his job as a monster, which is to scare. He is green and petite
for a monster. His arms legs are toothpicks compared to his body. Imagine a sphere with strings as
limbs, that is how I would best describe his shape. The eye centered on his head is a jewel tone
green and very large. Rows of teeth are scrunched together in has mouth and are especially visible
when he smiles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mike Wazowski doesn't even like scaring the kids every night, since he is such a nice monster. That
is the reason he is Sulley's other half. Mike doesn't participate in the scaring much and just focuses
on the paperwork and the odds and ends no one else wants to do. His personality shows he is also
very hard–working. Long hours working with Sully on trying to be more scary isn't exactly what
Mike wants to do, but he didn't give up on trying to scare. Boo is the young girl that was stuck in
Monstropolis, where the scarers scare. Mike showed her love, which proved him to be very
thoughtful. People can also argue Mike is daring by hiding boo with him and supporting Sulley who
had a great bond with Boo. At the end, Mike finds every shed of Boo's drawer and adheres it all
back together as a gift for

Short-Term Memory Loss in Finding Nemo's Dori
The beloved Disney movie Finding Nemo features both a colorful underwater landscape and a
psychologically diverse cast of characters. From the obsessive Bubbles (a fish obsessed with
bubbles) and Gurgle (the germophobic fish at the dentists office), to the shark trio that refuses to eat
fish, and the confused Deb, who thinks her reflection is actually her twin sister, Flo, most of the
characters in the movie seem to exhibit some sort of quirky condition. Nemo himself has a physical
disability (his "lucky fin") that he learns to overcome in order to develop self–confidence. Marlin
also exhibits anxiety and trust issues, which he overcomes throughout the course of the movie. One
of the main characters, Dory, has a specific disability that she must learn to adapt to in order to
complete her journey: short–term memory loss. Dory is perhaps the most beloved character in
Finding Nemo because she has such a big heart and radiates optimism despite (and possibly because
of) her struggles with short–term memory loss. When we first meet Dory, she clumsily swims into a
frantic Marlin, who is searching for his recently lost son. Dory agrees to help him look, but while
leading Marlin to where she last saw a boat, she forgets what she was doing and mistakes Marlin for
a stalker, quickly becoming defensive, much to Marlin's confusion. Luckily she understands and
explains to him that she has a condition called short–term memory loss, which she claims runs in her
family

Strategic Analysis Of Pixar, Winston Churchill
Strategic Analysis: Pixar Winston Churchill once stated "However beautiful the strategy, you should
occasionally look at the results". The current business environment is rapidly evolving due to the
pressures of changing technology as well as the increasing demands firms are under to expand
regionally and globally. Successful organizations in this often chaotic and changing environment
must continually scan their internal and external conditions in order to respond proactively to market
conditions and new trends. Firm leadership needs to not only have a vision for the organization's
future but also the ability to critically analyze the internal processes and structure of the firm in
comparison to the outcomes or results of the firm's current orientation. Strategy and vision are
meaningless if the way they are being executed does not provide the organization a sustainable
competitive advantage. Therefore it is critical that firm leadership examine how their organization is
implementing their strategy to determine its effectiveness and results. When examining how a firm
is implementing their strategy they should examine the internal organization and processes of the
organization. Within this paper we will examine how Pixar has utilizes processes and principles such
as behavioral controls, culture, boundaryless organization, learning organization, employee
empowerment, and a dispersed culture of creativity/entrepreneurial to retain its current market
position as a

The Concept Of Creativity And How It Originates
Introduction
The concept of creativity and how it originates is something that has been subject to change over the
past few decades. Initially creativity was thought to be only attributed to a few individuals who were
'gifted' with these ideas through special hereditary transmitted traits; that the genius or highly
talented individual was born with the skill of creativity and not made (Glaveanu, 2010). This was
what was known as the 'He–paradigm'. A paradigmatic shift later occurred that then moved
psychology from embracing only the 'He–paradigm' to incorporating the 'I–paradigm'. This
paradigm shifted away from the idea of creativity as being something purely innate to believing that
all individuals have the potential to be creative. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The essay will begin by exploring Csikszentmihalyi's system model of creativity in a bit more detail.
The following section will look into Pixar Animation Studios and how exactly it is they enable
creativity in this organisation that has led them to being one of the top production studios in the
world. In doing so, points brought forth by Csikszentmihalyi will be compared with Pixar's practices
as to ultimately show just how very useful the systems model of creativity can be to groups and
organisations.
What is the Systems Model of Creativity?
In his model, Csikszentmihalyi explains that the environment is made up of two important aspects;
firstly, there is the domain which is concerned with culture and secondly there is the field, which is
the social aspect of the environment. He explains that creativity cannot occur within an individual
without the influence of their social environment. Creativity, he argues, is something that can only
be observed at the point at which individuals, domains and field meet (Csikszentmihalyi, 1999).
He explains that cultures should be seen as a complex system of interrelated domains. In other
words, cultures are built on a range of domains such as music, religion, math etc. Each culture will
have a various number of domains

Spirited Away Symbolism
Another character development showed an example in the move, "Spirited Away" when Master
Haku, a boy in the spirit world who assisted Chihiro seemed as though he couldn't be trusted;
however, the scene flipped where Haku was shown as a loving caring person. Additionally, in
"Ponyo" an example was also shown of Sosuke, a little boy helping Ponyo when she was trapped in
a jar; at first, the way the director depicted that scene, it seemed as if the boy was going to hurt
Ponyo which turned out not to be the case, that he too, like Haku was a loving caring human being.
From the narrator's point of view all of the characters looked suspicious, that some of them needed
something; towards the end of the movies, the audiences could tell that the director was trying to
alter the human perceptions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miyazaki shows his audience that both worlds share the same parallel circles; names were powerful
in the spirit and human worlds –– names identify identity in both worlds. It was very important for
Sen aka Chihiro, in "Spirited Away" to remember her name because if she did not, then she wouldn't
be able to return to her natural world. In "Ponyo" it was also important for her to have a name.
Another example of the power of words was when Yubaba let Chihiro, in "Spirited Away", signed
over her name to her and then she assigned Chihiro a new. Haku in "Spirited Away", couldn't
remember his name but he sensed that Yubaba had something to do with it, and so, he made sure that
Chihiro didn't forget her name – because she would be trapped just as he was. Sosuke also assigned
Ponyo a name; not that giving Ponyo a name in the human world would bring anything mystical, but
it gives her self–worth, identity, and belonging, just like Chihiro. Miyazaki shows his audience that
there was no difference in the sprite or the human world that both worlds are equally

Pixar's Criticism Of Woody And Buzz In Toy Story
Menv's flexibility with additional programing and the animators greatly assisted in the process of
creating the final cut of the film while working with the criticisms. Interestingly, initial responses to
the early drafts of the film were quite negative. Isaacson accounts that earlier versions of the film
portrayed Woody and Buzz in a different manner than the Woody and Buzz in Toy Story today.
From these early screenings, the film and the Menv were changed accordingly to the criticisms for
the characters to be "edgier". As the Menv was a self–developed program, Pixar was able to create
in–house hot–fixes to the any problems or restrictions of the animation (Reeves). The technology

Even though the narrative may be sound, a lack of aesthetics would detract from the film itself if it
did not sufficiently support narrative and vice versa. According to Andrew Stanton, writing an
animated film is very different than writing a live–action feature. "A big difference is that you are
writing for a medium that is much more dependent on visuals –– not that film itself is isn't a very
visual medium, I don't want to shortchange that ––but there is definitely an understanding of what
the strengths are in animation for your entertainment dollar... The biggest thing is that it's a lot of
pantomime... a lot of visual metaphors" (Neuwirth). Stanton's statement reiterates the importance of
the complementary intricacies of narrative and aesthetics. The technology must exist to produce the
quality aesthetics for an animated film, one especially demanding such as the fully computer–
animated Toy Story. One cannot function effectively without the other. The genesis of Toy Story was
one only possible through the collective efforts of Lasseter's work and the innovative Menv
program, financial backing by Disney, and the friendly and engaging narrative. The cutting–edge
technology of the Menv enabled the formulation of the elaborate aesthetics of animation. The
masking of the innovative technology behind the friendly aesthetics alleviated possible fears of the
technology for the ultimate success and enjoyment of Toy Story, marking the beginning of a fruitful
career of Lasseter and success Disney–Pixar's animated

My Life Has Saved Me A Better Man
The lessons that my dad has taught me thought out my life have saved me a lot of money. My dad
took time teaching me when I was a young man how to fix anything, but cars are the most important
to me. Being able to fix anything that has to be is a not only rare skill but it is a way of life that takes
time to learn. I can now fix my own cars instead of taking it to a shop to have them fix it. It has
made me a better man. Taking a vehicle to the shop is growing absorbedly expensive, older cars are
simpler but with the newer cars, getting more complex you need to know what you are doing. The

Reflected Appraisal Theory In Finding Nemo
Interpersonal communication is a key factor in discovering one's self. The reflected appraisal theory,
the development of a refrence group, self–concept and self–esteem are important aspects of the Self.
In Disney Pixar's Finding Nemo, characters use the reflected appraisal theory, the development of a
refrence group, self–concept and self–esteem to help grow as individuals and make closer
relationships with each other. In Finding Nemo, the first aspect of self–concept development seen by
viewers is the reflected appraisal theory. Reflected appraisal is the process by which a person's self–
concept is influenced by his or her beliefs concerning what other individuals think of him or her.
The first use of reflected appraisal theory is between Nemo and Marlin, his father. This is seen on
Nemo's first day of school when Marlin grabs Nemo before he gets the chance to swim in open
water. When the other kids at school start swimming into open water, at first Nemo is apprehensive
and does not follow his peers because he knows Marlin's lack of faith in his swimming abilities.
Nemo is so convinced of this that it has become a part of his identity. Likewise, Marlin doubts
Nemo's ability to take risk, swim well and handle going to school. Nemo then goes and swims in
open water to prove to his father that he is successful in taking risk, a strong swimmer and mature
enough to handle going to school. Once Nemo gets to the tank, he begins to actually believe what
Marlin has been says and looking down upon himself. When Nemo gets stuck in the tank's filter, he
asks Gill for help because Nemo is starting to believe that he is a bad swimmer. Gill says he got
himself in, so he can get himself out, but Nemo uses his bad fin as a crutch. Gill is not willing to
listen to excuses and forces Nemo to get out of the filter himself. This helps to build Nemo's
confidence in himself and begin to develop a new identity. Finding Nemo also uses the concept of
refrence groups throughout the film. A refrence group is the groups of people with whom a person
compares his or her self to. Refrence groups also show a lot about a person's communication and
self. What a person identifies with within the refrence group shows what that person

Cars Character Analysis
In the movie Cars, by John Lasseter, Lightning McQueen goes through a very large personal change
or healing process throughout the movie. This movie is more of a healing myth because, In the
beginning, he is a very stuck up and self centered character that only cares about winning. By the
end, he has turned to a more humble character that has a better view on the truly important things in
life. In other words, at the beginning he is broken and must go and truly see the finer things in life
and find himself before he can succeed. There are a few different things that change his attitude.
One thing is the people that he meets in Radiator Springs. Second, is the general life of the town that
he has to accommodate to. Linda Seger describes a healing myth as one where "a character is
'broken' and must leave home to become whole again". That statement describes this movie in so
many ways. Lightning McQueen leaves his "home" which is represented by his life on the racing
circuit, and goes on a journey where he becomes whole again before he can return home.
Lightning, meets a lot of different people, or cars, in this small town of Radiator Springs that really
change his attitude towards life and also his view on life. An good example would be Sally. Sally is
the pretty girl of this story. She is a nice and shiny blue porsche that Lightning ends up falling in
love with. The entire time that Lightning is in the town, he tries to impress Sally and make her fall in

Thus, the true culture of the organization cannot be understood by solely looking at the artifacts. To
understand more, it is necessary to look at the next level. Espoused beliefs and values are goals,
values, aspirations and ideologies shared by everyone in an organization. Normally, these values are
laid down by the leaders or founders of the organization (Schein, 2010, p.25). However, espoused
beliefs and values can sometimes be mutually contradictory (Schein, 2010, p.27). Thus, the
organization's culture is only understood just on the surface level. Basic underlying assumptions,
which are unconscious and taken–for–granted beliefs and values provides for a deeper
understanding of an organization's culture. Schein concluded that the essence of a culture lies in the
pattern of basic underlying assumptions (Schein, 2010, p.32). If the basic underlying assumptions
are not deciphered, it will be hard to understand the artifacts and espoused beliefs and values
correctly. As Schein (2010, p.32) himself had concluded, any group's culture can be studied at the
three levels. The three levels of culture allows for an analysis of Pixar's organizational cultural from
an observational level. Information can be readily drawn from business reviews, news articles on
Pixar, interviews with Pixar's employees and Pixar's website, thus making Edgar Schein's three

The Movie ' Toy Story ' Essay
"After one screening of the reels, I thought, 'If this film isn't a hit, there is something seriously
wrong with the audience!'" This was stated by Steve Segal, an animator who worked vigorously on
the film "Toy Story". Little did he know that not only was the film a huge hit, earning $67 million in
its first week of release, it would change the movie industry forever. On November 22nd, 1995,
"Toy Story" appeared in theaters. This marriage between Disney, a financial powerhouse, and Pixar,
a creative up and coming company, made sure to do something nobody had seen. Before the creation
of this film, there was somewhat of a formula, which included two–dimensional images and
somewhat simple animation, tending to appeal to a young audience. Examining its influence on
other films and cultural phenomena, I shall argue that Lasseter's film revolutionized the ways in
which animated movies are produced and consumed, utilizing innovative technology, creating
multidimensional character development, and opening the animated genre to a wider audience while
leading the way for the creation of a new type of film. The age of technology and computer
development, in general, began to grow its influence on the film industry, but was catapulted by
"Toy Story". Pixar started out as a division of Lucasfilms, eventually becoming a hardware
company, led by Ed Catmull, which utilized film shorts in order to show off the abilities of the
hardware. The idea of "Toy Story" began in 1991 as a

Creative Talent And Risk Of Pixar
Former CTO and current President of Pixar, Edwin Catmull, describes in his article How Pixar
Fosters Collective Creativity of 2008 the numerous aspects used at the pioneer of computer
animation for structuring and operating a creative organization. He bases his outline on the key
assumption that finding and supporting smart people is much more important to Pixar than good
individual ideas (Catmull, 2008). The principles and practices for managing creative talent and risk
are proven successful and were transferred to the revived Disney Animation Studio after the merger
in 2006.
Pixar sees its creativity supporting structure as a competitive advantage based on the fact that all
nine released films were huge commercial successes and scored with critics (Catmull, 2008).
Additionally, Pixar never hat to buy scripts or movie ideas from external sources. After the article
was written, Pixar released fived more films. All of them were again commercial successes, but
critics consistently received Cars 2 of 2011 as "Pixar 's First Bad Movie" (Tyler, 2011). After 2008
and after the adaption of Pixar's organizational structure Disney Animation Studios released seven
new films, they showed an enormous increase in critical ratings and an overall decent financial
success (Kays, 2013).
After the bad reviews of Cars 2 and criticism about Pixar recently focusing too much on established
franchises, Catmull announced that the studio plans to significantly scale back its production of

Lasseter was a genius when it came to computer animation, he had been using the "Pixar Image
Computer to create a short film known as Luxo Jr." (Zorthian). Before the Toy Story film was in
development, nobody knew what the Pixar Image Computer could be capable of and only used it to
create either Two–Dimensional movies or a Three–Dimensional short film. Considering Luxo Jr.
had been released before Toy Story, the short film was created as a test to see if they could make
their full length Three–Dimensional film. Lasseter might have also been the one who discovered that
his computer was capable of "reducing the amount of manual labor required to make high quality
cartoons" which encouraged him to create Luxo Jr. and then Toy Story right afterwards (Lesley).
Without the discovery of how their computer operates they could have not obtained their title of
having the 1st computer animated film and would not be as rich of a company as they are today. At
first, the Pixar Image Computer did not seem to impact the history of technology at all. But once
they figured out what it was capable of and created the two Three–Dimensional films, it impacted
the history of technology enough to make Pixar an animation company that was well known all

Buzz Lightyear

  • 1. Buzz Lightyear What did Woody say to Buzz Lightyear? A lot. There were three movies! Toy Story being Pixar's first feature film in 1995, was nominated for awards by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. In 1979 Pixar Animation Studios was founded as Graphics Group. It was originally the computer division of Lucasfilm, and became its own corporation in 1986 with funding from Apple cofounder Steve Jobs. People tend to think of creativity as a mysterious solo act, and they typically reduce products to a single idea. Creativity must be present at every level of an organization. In filmmaking and other kinds of complex product development, creativity involves a large number of people from different limitations working effectively together to solve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the merging, Disney had a leader that was ineffective and it showed in the work they produced. I believe Catmull and Lasseter follow the House's Path–Goal theory of leadership. The basis of path–goal is that effective leaders motivate subordinates to achieve goals by 1: Clearly identifying the outcomes that subordinates are trying to obtain from the workplace. In the Disney– Pixar aspect, the main goal of everyone is to come up with new innovated film ideas that have never been done before. Always trying to push the envelope. This in an interesting job assignment, very challenging this day and age because everything is just getting bigger and bigger. 2: Rewarding subordinates with these outcomes for high performance and the attainment of work goals. I would think there would be compensation for producing a box office hit. There is a shared interest in everyone's success. They really are a team, the success of a movie counts on each and every person involved. And 3: Clarifying for subordinates the paths leading to the attainment of work goals. To remove any obstacles, the company created an environment where they remove the power structure. "Everyone's notes are equal." Everyone is encouraged to share ideas freely and honest feedback is given. This allows employees to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Spirited Away Analysis In Hayao Miyazaki's breathtaking film, Spirited Away we are introduced to 10–year–old Chihiro and her parents who stumble upon a seemingly abandoned amusement park. After her mother and father turn into giant pigs, Chihiro meets the mysterious Haku, who explains the park is a resort for the supernatural beings who need a break from the earthly realm, and that she must work there to free herself and her parents. Our young protagonist is shown to be a childish, easily–scared, and whiny girl. But after her experiences at the bathhouse and the Spirit World, she will mature into a capable adult. Chihiro's growth into a capable individual is a core factor to the movement of Spirited Away's plot. Spirited Away begins with a quick paced car ride in which we meet the young protagonist, Chihiro. A melancholy child whom ironically holds a bouquet of bright flowers to her chest, which we learn was a farewell gift from her friend on Chihiro's moving day. Chihiro and her parents stumble upon a ominous tunnel as they search for their new home. The tunnel lures Chihiro's parents inside, causing the young child to quickly rush and cling to her mother in fear of being alone, like any child would. Upon entering the Spirit World, they stumble upon a festive amusement park that has seemingly just been abandoned. During this scene Chihiro's parents morph into gluttonous pigs, consumed by their own greed and hunger upon eating offerings that were meant for the spirits. Young Chihiro now left ... • 5. Essay on Monsters Inc Monsters Inc. is an incredible animated movie (by Pixar Studios, 2001, and directed by Pete Doctor) about monsters working in a scare factory. Proudly, the scare factory – a pillar in the community – is a workplace in a monster world where monsters scare children. Through a high–tech system, doors are brought to the factory that, if activated, allows the monsters to enter the child's room through the youngster's closet. The scream produced by the child creates energy for the monster world, so that monsters can do everyday things, such as quickly turning on a light or vacuuming the carpet. However, this is not an easy job because children are extremely toxic to monsters (who tremble when a child is near), and are also becoming increasingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if the conflict was, "All of the sudden, grandma's laundry flew off the line", the reader would probably lose interest in the story unless he or she was a launderer or happened to be grandma. If the conflict was, "But then, Mark turned around just in time to deflect a blow from somebody with a crowbar! He looked closer, and it turned out that it was not one attacker, but five! And they were all married to him!" the reader would probably get his interest perked up quite a few degrees north. The conflict, "One day, a child stepped out through the door" does not have an interesting sound to it at all. For this essay of critique, however, the conflict unfortunately is, "One day, a child stepped out through the door". That is not what the majority of the educated population would call an invigorating conflict, but it is advisable to keep reading, for one cannot always judge a story by its conflict.) One day, a child stepped out through the door. It was all an accident, because Sulley spotted a door that he thought was mistakenly left on, and he opened it to check if there were any monsters inside. Strangely there were not, but when he closed the door and turned around to leave, a human child, who was a tiny girl, was taking a ride on his tail! Sulley panicked, and tried to get rid of her, but she was more dexterous then he. What could Sulley do?!? Panting, Sulley ran to his pal Mike, and they both tried to get rid of her, but she ultimately ended up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Fox and the Hound in the Walt Disney Studios: John... John Lasseter, now the famous Chief Creative Officer of Pixar and Disney, overcame failures and mistakes like everyone else to get to where he is today. He was born and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He went to California Institute of Arts. After graduating from school, he began working for Walt Disney Company. Lasseter was eventually fired but found work at Lucasfilm Computer Graphics Group, which also ended in a short time. After failing to keep his jobs, he sought for something new. This was when he joined the Pixar Animation Studios along with Edwin Catmull and Steve Jobs. While attending school at the California Institute of Arts, Lasseter created two Student Academy Award– winning, black and white short films called Lady and the Lamp and Nitemare. These animated films were his first animated movies. After graduation, Lasseter worked on the heart– warming movie called The Fox and the Hound in the Walt Disney Studios. He eventually left Disney and started his own career by joining Pixar. In 1984 he decided to work at Pixar Animation Studios for a month but he stayed and never left its side since. This became the place for where he found the freedom to produce computer–animated works like he's always wanted to. After several years working diligently on another short film called Tin Toy, he decided to release the movie in 1988 . This was the first fully computer animated, three–dimensional movie to give Lasseter an Oscar. Pixar and Disney Animation Studios eventually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Manifest And Latent Content In The Toy Story Movies The Toy Story movies by Pixar Animation Studios are three movies that hold many messages for the people that choose to view the films. There are two types of content that are present in movies and books, but the content is much more important in children's movies because the media can teach the children how to interact socially when they are older. The content of media can be broken down into two different categories that are called manifest and latent content. Manifest content is the intended message of the media, which is what the media is trying to promote for the young viewers and readers of children's books and movies (Structural Functionalism, 2017). There are more many different examples of manifest content throughout the three Toy Story movies, but some stand out more than others. One of the main messages of Toy Story is that teamwork is key, and it is important to work together in order to achieve success (Disney, 2016). The latent content of media are the messages that are unintended and may have a negative impact on the young consumers of content (Structural Functionalism, 2017). An example of latent content from Toy Story 3 is that once someone is of no use, their lives should end (Cubria, 2014). The manifest and latent content of the Toy Story movies are very important for the social upbringings of the young viewers of the Pixar franchise. There are many instances in the Toy Story movies that send intended messages to the young viewers. These manifest messages ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Advantages Of Computer Invented Animation Walt Disney animation Hand drawn vs. Computerised Walt Disney, a household name for kids and adults alike, the power house of kid's animation! This was up till its last drawn animation of The Lion King in 1994, when other animators like Pixar and DreamWorks came up with more modern computerised 3D films, such as Toy Story in 1995; Ants in 1998 and Shrek in 2001. All these animations had box office success and all were computer generated. While Disney was producing hand drawn animation like Hercules, Brother Bear and Fantasia they were falling behind and losing vast amounts of money. The fact that not one of these movies made it into the top of the charts fuelled rumours that they might close down the animation section. A joint venture Andrew Millstein, the president of Disney Animation Studios, joined the company in 1997 as a production executive in the modern pictures group. In 2001 Millstein was named the senior Vice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was this new found ownership that gave them back the freedom to think and use their imagination. Disney had the notion of making films that is meant for not only little boys and girls but once again for the whole family to enjoy. This meant that they could take collective ownership and were no longer competing with each other. This gave new meaning to the much used phrase 'thinking outside the box' by putting their trust in the creative powers of their animators. I liked how Marti started off the first paragraph my introducing the movie, and the main idea of the movie. I also enjoyed how the second paragraph started by telling the story of the movie. I think that it is was important to know the story that the writer is talking about, although I have seen the movie many people might not have. I enjoyed this essays point on how this movie is attention grabbing to all ages. Many would assume that since this is a cartoon, that it is mainly for children's enjoyment, but that is not the case. • 19. Analysis Of The Movie ' Spirited Away ' And Ponyo ' Director Miyazaki illustrated in "Spirited Away" and "Ponyo" how love, identity, perseverance, and adversity can conquer anything. At the beginning of the movies, we see how food and water set Chihiro, Sosuke, and Ponyo's entire adventures, and the conflict they endure and how they were perceived in the spirit and human worlds. The spirit world was less tolerant of anything different whereas the human world was more welcoming; however, they both illustrated the same message about how people should be more open–minded and to be more accepting. An example in "Spirited Away" showed how the Spirit world viewed Chihiro as nothing more than just a human being who came to their world to cause trouble, according to Yubaba; whereas in the human world, Ponyo was welcomed by Sosuke, even though at the start of the movie, Ponyo was appeared to be a goldfish, nevertheless she was still welcomed by a human. The narrator showed his audience how difficult it was for Chihiro in the spirit world, in "Spirited Away", but, Ponyo was the opposite in the human world but she still had adversity. By the contrast of both worlds, Miyazaki is showing his audience how humans are more accepting of things that are different vs the spirit world which rejects differences. The storyteller showed a scene in "Spirited Away" where Yubaba tried to trick Chihiro into choosing her parents from a group of sprit she had turned into pigs, but it didn't work the way Yubaba wanted it to, because Chihiro was able ... Following the structure of various online opinion columns, I decided to share my opinion of Pixar's success, 'Finding Dory'. What I loved about this film was the message about empowering those with disabilities by advocating that there are no limitations if one persists. Specifically focussing on their recent film Finding Dory, the title of my article "Finding Dory is more than just another Pixar animation" indicates the focus of the film in a positive light. Following the structural and stylistic features of an opinion column, I opened briefly with an introduction to the film's background and then followed with my opinion on how Finding ... • 23. Finding Nemo Finding Nemo has a lot of hidden meaning in the story. Most people can interpret stories in different ways than others, especially children. I interpret that, in Finding Nemo, Marlin not only wants what is best for Nemo, but what is best for the both of them. Don't be stubborn and not listen to your parents because they always know what's best for you. I think Marlin's definition of what's "best" for them is a little different than most. He wants to rebuild their colony by repopulating. As a child I viewed this as just a regular movie, like every child would. No kid is going to know the reproductive process of clown fish. I used to think that it was about friendship between Nemo and Dory, and that if you're in times of need, there will always be a friend that will help you, no matter where you are. It was my favorite movie due to these reasons: it made me happy that Nemo wasn't going through it alone. Everyone views things differently. Most people interpret Finding Nemo in a whole entirely different way. It is meant to be portrayed as expressing the type of things a father would go through to save his son. The theme of this movie is to not be stubborn and listen because your parents always know what's best for you. Most people would picture it this way, but there is an entirely ... Film, Spirited Away, By Miyazaki Hayao In Miyazaki Hayao's animated film, Spirited Away, Miyazaki presents a young girl Chihiro who visits an abandoned amusement park, only to become trapped in a fantasy world where spirits reside. Although most of these creatures are very unique and quite unlike the others, most of them have one thing in common: their body features are very disproportional compared to the size of their bodies. This strange similarity depicted by Miyazaki invokes strong feelings of fear and appreciation in particular for the viewer. While many characters have ominous, creepy appearances similar to that of a ghost, they still have large eyes, blob–shaped bodies, and they make little–to–no–noise. These three characteristics emphasize the helplessness– the cuteness–of these creatures. The ominous appearance of the characters does however quickly begin to clash more obviously with their cute defining factors. In one early particular scene, Chihiro encounters a radish spirit: a large, round creature whose body shape resembles a radish. At first, the creature is threatening to the viewer, as it is large compared to most characters and its appearance is foreign and bizarre. But even though the spirit appears scary, Chihiro sticks around it briefly, and the viewer is prompted to further observes its figure. At that point, the the rotundness of the spirit radish's figure becomes more apparent, and the viewer is lead to see him as not just threatening anymore, but also cute. • 31. Finding Nemo Research Paper Walt Disney has produced many excellent films over the years such as Toy Story, but Finding Nemo was not one of their best films. In 2003, Andrew Stanton, the director of Finding Nemo, brought another animated film to life. From a visual standpoint, Finding Nemo is brilliant. Finding Nemo has excellent animation, but the story leaves little to love because of its dull, predicable storyline clichés and its depressing and terrifying storyline that frightens young children. The story is revolved around a hero expedition voyage for a father, a clown fish, named "Marlin." It begins with a school of four–hundred fish being murdered by a barracuda. Only two fish survive, a father named "Marlin" and a son named "Nemo." Marlin is overprotective of his son, Nemo, because Nemo's mother died right after Nemo was born. This leads to disagreements between them. When class begins in school, Nemo becomes rebellious, and this creates a string of events that leads him to the separation of his father. Nemo then gets captured by a dentist and is put into an aquarium in the dentist's office. Nemo spends time trying to reunite with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, in the aftermath of T2: Judgment Day, the Terminator franchise has been aboard a rocky roller coaster ride that has brandished mixed results – evident in sporadic sequel releases and constant recasting of familiar characters. Still, the one constant throughout the majority of the releases has been the fierce involvement of Arnold Schwarzenegger – who, for better or worse, refuses to put the role as the T–800 in his past. And thus, after a 12 year absence from the fold, The Governator returns to do what he does best: kick ass. Surprisingly, though, it's John Connor – the unshakable leader of the Resistance. And, there's no finer man to cast in the role than Jason Clarke – who adds strength and credibility to a character that previous actors, including Christian Bale, severely lacked. The purpose behind that is to show some sense of strength, as an old man he won't exhibit super strength or any sort of power like Mr. Incredible, but instead he exhibits the old saying that with age comes wisdom; within that scene that is exactly what "strength" he is showing. Mr. Frederickson wants to show that he is strong and capable enough to get there without help. However, as the movie progresses his vulnerability becomes more visible. The want to show strength and to appear strong comes from the emasculation of the characters. Mr. Incredible was this well known superhero that went around saving the city from robbers, criminals, and other events. However the city soon retired him for the amount of damage he caused, leading to him having to obtain a real job and provide for a family. His series of events are Mr. Incredible's emasculation. Toy Story and A Bug's Life are adventure comedies full of surprises in which scenes change from light–heartedness to heart–stopping suspense. The trailers director doesn't give too much away by revealing only parts of a scene; leaving the viewer frustrated and wanting to know the outcome, music also generates tension and suspense. In addition, narration is employed in Toy Story to give the viewer a quick overview of the plot, while in A Bug's Life; only extracts from characters are used to explain the plot. The light–hearted Toy Story trailer relates to the comedic adventure plot through humour and a quirky atmosphere. A combination of sound and visuals, ensure a happy, silly and curious mood that is synonymous with the rest of the trailer. In comparison, A Bug's Life is exhilarating at the start, with a catchy song which encapsulates the confronting struggles ahead "I'm here in the fields, I fight for my meals." While his success with films is more well known, his real success started with creating short films such as Red's Dream and Luxo Jr,. Red's Dream, created in 1987, is arguably one of Lasseter's most heartfelt short films created, although it never won any awards. This adorable, yet heartbreaking short is sure to make the audience's hearts feel for the protagonist: a 50% off red unicycle in a bike shop; "The unicycle dreams of appearing in a circus and capturing the love of audience members, but awakens in the shop feeling worse, for having had a glimpse at a better life." Lasseters intelligent ideas of identifying where the face and head of an inanimate object are helps the audience keep track of a character's thoughts and actions and helps the audience believe as though the character is alive, like it's a human being, rather than just a Luxo lamp in someone's home. Mike doesn't always agree with Sulley, but tries to support him as much as possible. Mike Wazowski is known best by his appearance, his personality, and his humor, or lack thereof. Mike's appearance is a little different from most of the monsters seen roaming the factory in the parallel city of Monstropolis. • 45. Short-Term Memory Loss in Finding Nemo's Dori The beloved Disney movie Finding Nemo features both a colorful underwater landscape and a psychologically diverse cast of characters. From the obsessive Bubbles (a fish obsessed with bubbles) and Gurgle (the germophobic fish at the dentists office), to the shark trio that refuses to eat fish, and the confused Deb, who thinks her reflection is actually her twin sister, Flo, most of the characters in the movie seem to exhibit some sort of quirky condition. Nemo himself has a physical disability (his "lucky fin") that he learns to overcome in order to develop self–confidence. Marlin also exhibits anxiety and trust issues, which he overcomes throughout the course of the movie. One of the main characters, Dory, has a specific disability that she must learn to adapt to in order to complete her journey: short–term memory loss. • 47. Strategic Analysis Of Pixar, Winston Churchill Strategic Analysis: Pixar Winston Churchill once stated "However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results". The current business environment is rapidly evolving due to the pressures of changing technology as well as the increasing demands firms are under to expand regionally and globally. Successful organizations in this often chaotic and changing environment must continually scan their internal and external conditions in order to respond proactively to market conditions and new trends. Firm leadership needs to not only have a vision for the organization's future but also the ability to critically analyze the internal processes and structure of the firm in comparison to the outcomes or results of the firm's current orientation. Strategy and vision are meaningless if the way they are being executed does not provide the organization a sustainable competitive advantage. Therefore it is critical that firm leadership examine how their organization is implementing their strategy to determine its effectiveness and results. When examining how a firm is implementing their strategy they should examine the internal organization and processes of the organization. Within this paper we will examine how Pixar has utilizes processes and principles such as behavioral controls, culture, boundaryless organization, learning organization, employee empowerment, and a dispersed culture of creativity/entrepreneurial to retain its current market position as a ... • 49. The Concept Of Creativity And How It Originates Introduction The concept of creativity and how it originates is something that has been subject to change over the past few decades. Initially creativity was thought to be only attributed to a few individuals who were 'gifted' with these ideas through special hereditary transmitted traits; that the genius or highly talented individual was born with the skill of creativity and not made (Glaveanu, 2010). This was what was known as the 'He–paradigm'. A paradigmatic shift later occurred that then moved psychology from embracing only the 'He–paradigm' to incorporating the 'I–paradigm'. This paradigm shifted away from the idea of creativity as being something purely innate to believing that all individuals have the potential to be creative. It ... In doing so, points brought forth by Csikszentmihalyi will be compared with Pixar's practices as to ultimately show just how very useful the systems model of creativity can be to groups and organisations. What is the Systems Model of Creativity? In his model, Csikszentmihalyi explains that the environment is made up of two important aspects; firstly, there is the domain which is concerned with culture and secondly there is the field, which is the social aspect of the environment. He explains that creativity cannot occur within an individual without the influence of their social environment. Creativity, he argues, is something that can only be observed at the point at which individuals, domains and field meet (Csikszentmihalyi, 1999). He explains that cultures should be seen as a complex system of interrelated domains. In other words, cultures are built on a range of domains such as music, religion, math etc. Each culture will have a various number of domains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My dad took time teaching me when I was a young man how to fix anything, but cars are the most important to me. Being able to fix anything that has to be is a not only rare skill but it is a way of life that takes time to learn. I can now fix my own cars instead of taking it to a shop to have them fix it. It has made me a better man. Taking a vehicle to the shop is growing absorbedly expensive, older cars are simpler but with the newer cars, getting more complex you need to know what you are doing. The need for a basic understanding of a car's interworkings is paramount or mechanic shops will have a monopoly in the repair business. The old, rusted out Camaro was a project for my dad and me to work on together. A fifteen–year–old boy under the hood of a 1967 Chevy Camaro changing a carburetor. There he was wearing a camouflage mask of grease and oil looking like an apache warrior getting ready for war. The day had a bluebird sky; it was a warm spring after noon without a cloud in the sky. That young kid was me and that day has had significant impact on me. As I leap under the hood and I carelessly grab a Snap on wrench, and I start trying to unbolt the Holly 750 cfm double pumper carburetor I wrenched on it for 5 minutes and I said to my dad "what is wrong with this thing, is it the right size wrench for this bolt"? My dad came over and looked at the bolts – that held the carburetor to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Reflected Appraisal Theory In Finding Nemo Interpersonal communication is a key factor in discovering one's self. The reflected appraisal theory, the development of a refrence group, self–concept and self–esteem are important aspects of the Self. In Disney Pixar's Finding Nemo, characters use the reflected appraisal theory, the development of a refrence group, self–concept and self–esteem to help grow as individuals and make closer relationships with each other. In Finding Nemo, the first aspect of self–concept development seen by viewers is the reflected appraisal theory. Reflected appraisal is the process by which a person's self– concept is influenced by his or her beliefs concerning what other individuals think of him or her. The first use of reflected appraisal theory is between Nemo and Marlin, his father. This is seen on Nemo's first day of school when Marlin grabs Nemo before he gets the chance to swim in open water. When the other kids at school start swimming into open water, at first Nemo is apprehensive and does not follow his peers because he knows Marlin's lack of faith in his swimming abilities. Nemo is so convinced of this that it has become a part of his identity. Likewise, Marlin doubts Nemo's ability to take risk, swim well and handle going to school. Nemo then goes and swims in open water to prove to his father that he is successful in taking risk, a strong swimmer and mature enough to handle going to school. Once Nemo gets to the tank, he begins to actually believe what Marlin has been says and looking down upon himself. When Nemo gets stuck in the tank's filter, he asks Gill for help because Nemo is starting to believe that he is a bad swimmer. Gill says he got himself in, so he can get himself out, but Nemo uses his bad fin as a crutch. Gill is not willing to listen to excuses and forces Nemo to get out of the filter himself. This helps to build Nemo's confidence in himself and begin to develop a new identity. Finding Nemo also uses the concept of refrence groups throughout the film. A refrence group is the groups of people with whom a person compares his or her self to. Refrence groups also show a lot about a person's communication and self. What a person identifies with within the refrence group shows what that person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Cars Character Analysis In the movie Cars, by John Lasseter, Lightning McQueen goes through a very large personal change or healing process throughout the movie. This movie is more of a healing myth because, In the beginning, he is a very stuck up and self centered character that only cares about winning. By the end, he has turned to a more humble character that has a better view on the truly important things in life. In other words, at the beginning he is broken and must go and truly see the finer things in life and find himself before he can succeed. There are a few different things that change his attitude. One thing is the people that he meets in Radiator Springs. Second, is the general life of the town that he has to accommodate to. Linda Seger describes a healing myth as one where "a character is 'broken' and must leave home to become whole again". That statement describes this movie in so many ways. Lightning McQueen leaves his "home" which is represented by his life on the racing circuit, and goes on a journey where he becomes whole again before he can return home. Lightning, meets a lot of different people, or cars, in this small town of Radiator Springs that really change his attitude towards life and also his view on life. An good example would be Sally. Sally is the pretty girl of this story. She is a nice and shiny blue porsche that Lightning ends up falling in love with. The entire time that Lightning is in the town, he tries to impress Sally and make her fall in love with him. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To understand more, it is necessary to look at the next level. Espoused beliefs and values are goals, values, aspirations and ideologies shared by everyone in an organization. Normally, these values are laid down by the leaders or founders of the organization (Schein, 2010, p.25). However, espoused beliefs and values can sometimes be mutually contradictory (Schein, 2010, p.27). Thus, the organization's culture is only understood just on the surface level. Basic underlying assumptions, which are unconscious and taken–for–granted beliefs and values provides for a deeper understanding of an organization's culture. Schein concluded that the essence of a culture lies in the pattern of basic underlying assumptions (Schein, 2010, p.32). If the basic underlying assumptions are not deciphered, it will be hard to understand the artifacts and espoused beliefs and values correctly. As Schein (2010, p.32) himself had concluded, any group's culture can be studied at the

  • 75. The Movie ' Toy Story ' Essay "After one screening of the reels, I thought, 'If this film isn't a hit, there is something seriously wrong with the audience!'" This was stated by Steve Segal, an animator who worked vigorously on the film "Toy Story". Little did he know that not only was the film a huge hit, earning $67 million in its first week of release, it would change the movie industry forever. On November 22nd, 1995, "Toy Story" appeared in theaters. This marriage between Disney, a financial powerhouse, and Pixar, a creative up and coming company, made sure to do something nobody had seen. Before the creation of this film, there was somewhat of a formula, which included two–dimensional images and somewhat simple animation, tending to appeal to a young audience. Examining its influence on other films and cultural phenomena, I shall argue that Lasseter's film revolutionized the ways in which animated movies are produced and consumed, utilizing innovative technology, creating multidimensional character development, and opening the animated genre to a wider audience while leading the way for the creation of a new type of film. The age of technology and computer development, in general, began to grow its influence on the film industry, but was catapulted by "Toy Story". Pixar started out as a division of Lucasfilms, eventually becoming a hardware company, led by Ed Catmull, which utilized film shorts in order to show off the abilities of the hardware. The idea of "Toy Story" began in 1991 as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Creative Talent And Risk Of Pixar Former CTO and current President of Pixar, Edwin Catmull, describes in his article How Pixar Fosters Collective Creativity of 2008 the numerous aspects used at the pioneer of computer animation for structuring and operating a creative organization. He bases his outline on the key assumption that finding and supporting smart people is much more important to Pixar than good individual ideas (Catmull, 2008). The principles and practices for managing creative talent and risk are proven successful and were transferred to the revived Disney Animation Studio after the merger in 2006. Pixar sees its creativity supporting structure as a competitive advantage based on the fact that all nine released films were huge commercial successes and scored with critics (Catmull, 2008). Additionally, Pixar never hat to buy scripts or movie ideas from external sources. After the article was written, Pixar released fived more films. All of them were again commercial successes, but critics consistently received Cars 2 of 2011 as "Pixar 's First Bad Movie" (Tyler, 2011). After 2008 and after the adaption of Pixar's organizational structure Disney Animation Studios released seven new films, they showed an enormous increase in critical ratings and an overall decent financial success (Kays, 2013). After the bad reviews of Cars 2 and criticism about Pixar recently focusing too much on established franchises, Catmull announced that the studio plans to significantly scale back its production of sequels ... The two of them accidentally fall out of the top story of their home and have to go on an adventure to make their way back. What makes this movie unique is not the plot of it, but how it was created. Historical Criticism applies to this story due to the technology that was used to create it and how much this technology impacted the time period in which it was produced. The 1995 Film, Toy Story, receives its Historical approach by the movie reflecting a turning point in computer technology with this movie representing one of the first fully computer animated feature films as it was able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lasseter was a genius when it came to computer animation, he had been using the "Pixar Image Computer to create a short film known as Luxo Jr." (Zorthian). Before the Toy Story film was in development, nobody knew what the Pixar Image Computer could be capable of and only used it to create either Two–Dimensional movies or a Three–Dimensional short film. Considering Luxo Jr. had been released before Toy Story, the short film was created as a test to see if they could make their full length Three–Dimensional film. Lasseter might have also been the one who discovered that his computer was capable of "reducing the amount of manual labor required to make high quality cartoons" which encouraged him to create Luxo Jr. and then Toy Story right afterwards (Lesley). Without the discovery of how their computer operates they could have not obtained their title of having the 1st computer animated film and would not be as rich of a company as they are today. At first, the Pixar Image Computer did not seem to impact the history of technology at all. But once they figured out what it was capable of and created the two Three–Dimensional films, it impacted the history of technology enough to make Pixar an animation company that was well known all around the ...
