Civic reflection discussions can help us talk more comfortably about values, think more deeply about choices, and respond more imaginatively to the needs of our communities.The discussions revolve around a short, thought provoking reading and gradually opens up in larger questions about civic engagement. By stepping back and talking together participants gain a richer connection to one another and to the important tasks of civic life.
The readings are a tool that provoke participants to think about their own beliefs and give everyone in the room something in common.Readings also provide vivid images and narratives that help participants talk in clear ways about complex ideas. Lastly readings are SAFE they can be disagreed with, challenged, even mocked, and they cannot be hurt
