TESTIMONIAL:
“We selected the Bio-Microbics®
BioBarrier®
system [FOR THE
NETZERO WATER DORM] based on its competitive cost and
projected effluent quality, including our particular need to bring
total nitrogen to below drinking water standards in the effluent.
In fact, with the addition of alkalinity and ethanol feeders,
nitrogen was never an issue, and the system ran trouble-free
for the duration of the 2-year experiment with no attention
other than chemical tank recharge.”
~James Englehardt, PhD, University of Miami (UM) College of
Engineering Professor & Chief Investigator for “Design for
Autonomous Net-Zero Water Buildings (Dormitory).”
Extended Aeration Systems: Designed to be the
simplest to install, operate, and maintain large
commercial and community wastewater treatment

Engineered with non-corrosive, proprietary devices
(LIXOR®), the RollsAIR® provides robust

What Is High Strength Waste?
• High BOD, COD, & High TSS
• High Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) content
• Anything that is not “residential waste” is high-strength
• A greywater recycling system added to a residential
property, where it reduces water consumption but not
the waste is considered high-strength.
Every Commercial Property is Different

Stormwater Treatment
Intro ducing
BioSTORM® Explained
• BioSTORM® is a
pre-engineered stormwater
treatment system designed
to remove trash, sediment,
oil and other pollutants from
stormwater flows.
• 2-stage treatment including
primary screening and
secondary liquid/solid and oil/water separation.
• Off-line design, housed in pre-cast concrete tanks.
• Flexible sizing, simple maintenance.
How It Works
1. The first stage of the
BioSTORM system utilizes the
StormTEE® deflector screen to
separate trash and larger
solids from the stormwater
flow.
2. Forward flow and smaller
solids pass through the
StormTEE, continue through
the outlet tee and enter the
main treatment chamber
containing the BioSTORM’s
modular separation unit, or
discharge back into the storm
sewer.
3. BioSTORM’s separation module
contains coalescing media that
acts as both a liquid/solids
separation barrier and an
oil/water separator.
4. Smaller sediment is caught in
the media’s honeycomb
labyrinth and eventually
descends to the bottom of the
tank for storage and easy
removal.
5. Oils entering the system
coalesce (gather together to
form larger globules) and rise
to the water surface where it
remains in the BioSTORM
module for storage and easy
removal.
6. The clean rainwater is then
directed up an outlet baffle and
into the effluent pipe for
discharge back into the main
stormwater network or
discharge into the receiving
environment.
Variable Flow + Consistent Treatment = Peace of Mind
• BioSTORM® does not rely on particle velocities to maintain high levels
of liquid/solids separation.
• Designed for multiple applications, including Phase I and II compliance.
• Wide range of sizes and flow ranges
• Automatic safety bypass for flows beyond design capacity
• Full treatment during first flush all the way to maximum flow rates
• So whether a light rain or a heavy storm, BioSTORM’s retention of
pollutants remains consistent.
MaintenanceMaintenance
• Check the solids level in each tank.
• If oils have entered the system, they will
be floating just above the coalescing
media inside the BioSTORM separation
module. This layer of oily water should be pumped out.
• Lastly, swab the StormTEE® vigorously several times to dislodge any debris or trash that
may be lodged in or against the angled slots.
Like most stormwater treatment systems,
maintenance will vary greatly depending
on local conditions and frequency of rain
events. Routine maintenance consists of:
BioSTORM® Recap
• Pre-engineered system removes trash, sediment, oil & other suspended solids
• Maintains treatment performance regardless of hydraulic surge flows
• Unique modular design provides efficient liquid/solids and oil/water separation
• Easy to install – mounts easily in pre-cast tanks
• Easy to maintain – requires only periodic removal of debris
• Flexible treatment sizing capacities.
• Retrofits into existing systems
• Installs into readily available pre-cast tanks
Growing populations + economic growth =
To continue the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
forwaterand sanitation,
most municipal “Operations Programs”
should include maintenance sections…
With properdesign, construction and operatortraining
regarding the sewersystemof a municipality, it’s
important to develop the following Programs to help
prevent, identify, and/oraddress issues:
• PRE-TREATMENT PROGRAM
• CORROSION CONTROL PROGRAM
• FATS, OILS, AND GREASE PROGRAM
• STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
It is equally important to identify the best
PARTNERto combat these issues...
THANK YOU!

 • 36. BioSTORM® Explained • BioSTORM® is a pre-engineered stormwater treatment system designed to remove trash, sediment, oil and other pollutants from stormwater flows. • 2-stage treatment including primary screening and secondary liquid/solid and oil/water separation. • Off-line design, housed in pre-cast concrete tanks. • Flexible sizing, simple maintenance.
 • 37. How It Works 1. The first stage of the BioSTORM system utilizes the StormTEE® deflector screen to separate trash and larger solids from the stormwater flow. 2. Forward flow and smaller solids pass through the StormTEE, continue through the outlet tee and enter the main treatment chamber containing the BioSTORM’s modular separation unit, or discharge back into the storm sewer.
 • 38. 3. BioSTORM’s separation module contains coalescing media that acts as both a liquid/solids separation barrier and an oil/water separator. 4. Smaller sediment is caught in the media’s honeycomb labyrinth and eventually descends to the bottom of the tank for storage and easy removal.
 • 39. 5. Oils entering the system coalesce (gather together to form larger globules) and rise to the water surface where it remains in the BioSTORM module for storage and easy removal. 6. The clean rainwater is then directed up an outlet baffle and into the effluent pipe for discharge back into the main stormwater network or discharge into the receiving environment.
 • 40. Variable Flow + Consistent Treatment = Peace of Mind • BioSTORM® does not rely on particle velocities to maintain high levels of liquid/solids separation. • Designed for multiple applications, including Phase I and II compliance. • Wide range of sizes and flow ranges • Automatic safety bypass for flows beyond design capacity • Full treatment during first flush all the way to maximum flow rates • So whether a light rain or a heavy storm, BioSTORM’s retention of pollutants remains consistent.
 • 41. MaintenanceMaintenance • Check the solids level in each tank. • If oils have entered the system, they will be floating just above the coalescing media inside the BioSTORM separation module. This layer of oily water should be pumped out. • Lastly, swab the StormTEE® vigorously several times to dislodge any debris or trash that may be lodged in or against the angled slots. Like most stormwater treatment systems, maintenance will vary greatly depending on local conditions and frequency of rain events. Routine maintenance consists of:
 • 42. BioSTORM® Recap • Pre-engineered system removes trash, sediment, oil & other suspended solids • Maintains treatment performance regardless of hydraulic surge flows • Unique modular design provides efficient liquid/solids and oil/water separation • Easy to install – mounts easily in pre-cast tanks • Easy to maintain – requires only periodic removal of debris • Flexible treatment sizing capacities. • Retrofits into existing systems • Installs into readily available pre-cast tanks

 • 47. To continue the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) forwaterand sanitation, most municipal “Operations Programs” should include maintenance sections… With properdesign, construction and operatortraining regarding the sewersystemof a municipality, it’s important to develop the following Programs to help prevent, identify, and/oraddress issues: • PRE-TREATMENT PROGRAM • CORROSION CONTROL PROGRAM • FATS, OILS, AND GREASE PROGRAM • STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM It is equally important to identify the best PARTNERto combat these issues...

 1. In general during a presentation you want to tell 'em what you're gonna tell'em, tell 'em, then tell'em what you told 'em. Be positive, excited, lots of movement, DO NOT mention or dwell on negatives or possible problems that MIGHT come up. During this presentation we will cover possible applicatons for FAST. One of the hallmarks of FAST systems is their ability to reduce total nitrogen, so we will explain how total nitrogen reduction is obtained in any biological treatment environment. We will then run through the two major treatment processes that exist today, which will help to explain how FAST works , and then look at some actual projects that have used FAST technology. History of company Bio-Microbics is 5 yr old company created to focus on the onsite market S&L affiliate, S&L has made wastewater products since 1946. S&L is best known for its high quality, custom pump stations but they also manufacture several treatment systems including FAST systems.
 2. Bio-Microbics is an affiliated company of RLR, Inc., a Kansas City based water and wastewater treatment conglomerate. Other affiliates include Smith & Loveless, Inc., Scienco/FAST® Systems, Inc., Di-SEP, Inc. and Biomixer, Inc. (last two located in Norwalk, CA) Between these companies, we have many of the wastewater industry’s top engineers and wastewater products. In 1996, Bio-Microbics, Inc. was formed to manufacture and market FAST® wastewater treatment systems for the light commercial and residential onsite wastewater treatment markets. The treatment technology had been previously manufactured for the municipal, industrial and marine wastewater markets. In the past seven years, Bio-Microbics has expanded its product offering to include other treatment devices for high-strength commercial applications, nitrogen reduction, stormwater, grease removal, renovation of failing septic systems and various screening/filtration devices. These products, along with others in R&D, are creating substantial opportunities for company growth in the water and wastewater treatment industries.
 3. Fixed Film systems, also called attached growth, use a media that the bugs attach to and process the wastewater as it passes by.
 4. Introducing the BioSTORM® pre-engineered stormwater treatment system!
 5. BioSTORM® is a pre-engineered stormwater treatment system designed to remove trash, sediment, oil and other pollutants from stormwater flows. The unique off-line design consists of a patented StormTEE® self-cleaning deflector screen and a modular separation/coalescing unit, all housed in readily-available precast concrete tanks. The versatility of the system allows both treatment components to be used separately for different applications, or together to form a complete BioSTORM system. Various sizes are available depending on local site and environmental considerations.
 6. 1. The first stage of the BioSTORM® system utilizes the StormTEE® deflector screen to separate trash and larger solids from the stormwater flow. 2. Forward flow and smaller solids pass through the StormTEE, continue through the outlet tee and enter the main treatment chamber containing the BioSTORM’s modular separation unit, or discharge back into the storm sewer.
 7. 3. BioSTORM’s separation module contains coalescing media that acts as both a liquid/solids separation barrier and an oil/water separator. 4. Smaller sediment is caught in the media’s honeycomb labyrinth and eventually descends to the bottom of the tank for storage and easy removal.
 8. 5. Oils entering the system coalesce (gather together to form larger globules) and rise to the water surface where it remains in the BioSTORM® module for storage and easy removal. 6. The clean rainwater is then directed up an outlet baffle and into the effluent pipe for discharge back into the main stormwater network or discharge into the receiving environment.
 9. Variable flows + consistent treatment = Peace of Mind Many established companies (Vortechnics, CDS) are “big flow” products, used mostly for Phase I compliance, that rely on the hydraulic load to remove the grit and sediment from stormwater. The unique design of BioSTORM does not rely on velocity of flow/particles to maintain high levels of liquid/solids separation. When the system is sized within proper design capacity, BioSTORM maintains consistently high-level removal of particulates, regardless of surge flows or particle velocities. This system is designed for multiple applications, including Phase I and II compliance. Typical projects would consist of installation into existing culverts and underground vaults. In the event of heavy stormwater flows beyond design capacity, excess water bypasses BioSTORM® assuring full flow of water through the storm sewer. Even while the excess flow is bypassing the system, BioSTORM continues to capture pollutants and treat incoming flow at full design capacity. Whether a light rain, or a heavy storm, BioSTORM’s retention of pollutants remains consistent.
 10. Routine Maintenance – will vary depending on site conditions and local rainfall amounts. Routine Procedure: 1. Check solids level in each tank. 2. If oils have entered the system, they will be floating just above the coalescing media inside the BioSTORM® separation module. This layer of oily water should be pumped out. 3. Lastly, swab the StormTEE® vigorously several times to dislodge any debris or trash that may be lodged in or against the angled slots.

Flexible treatment sizing capacities. 7. Retrofits into existing systems 8. Installs into readily available pre-cast tanks
 12. Feel free to call, fax or e-mail to find out more information on the new BioSTORM® pre-engineered stormwater treatment system. At this time, I will open the floor for any questions…
