1. LESSON PLAN
(ELECTRICITY)
MAY 18, 2015
MONDAY
9:00 AM- 9:30 AM
I. OBJECTIVES: Atthe endof the lesson,85% of the studentsshouldbe able to:
A) define electriccircuit.
B) recognize the twotypesof electriccircuit.
C) connect/assemble the actual electriccircuit.
D) value the importance of eachessential partsof electriccircuit.
II. LEARNING TASK
A. SUBJECT MATTER: ElectricCircuit
B. CONCEPT/IDEAS: ElectricCircuit,pathof an electriccurrent.The termisusuallytaken
to meana continuouspathcomposedof conductorsand conductingdevices.
C. REFERENCES: Industrial ArtsforSecondaryEducation( Exploratory)
Basic ElectricitySecondEdition(Handbook)
Encarta Encyclopedia(2007 Edition)
Encarta Dictionary(2007 Edition)
D. MATERIALS: Cartolina,Pentelpen,Chalk,PDXwire,switch,junctionbox,electrical tape,
side cutter,longnose pliers, combinationpliers,lampholder,illustrationboad.
VALUE FOCUS:Awarenessof studentsaboutElectricCircuit.
III. PROCEDURE:
A. PRE-ACTIVITY
I. PRAYER
II. REVIEW
QUESTIONS:
What are the sourcesof electricity?
A source of electricitywhichisformedfromnatural mattersuchoil,and
natural gas?
A source of electricitythatcomesfrom the force of a movingair?
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
“Now,we know alreadywhere didthe electricitycame from. But the
question is,how itisdistributedtoeveryconsumer?
B. ACTIVITY PROPER
I. PRESENTATION OFLESSON:
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
“TODAY, we’re goingtotalkabout electric circuit. What is electriccircuit?
II. UNLOCKINGOF DIFFICULTIES:
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
“The Encarta DictionarydefinesCircuitasa Circularpathor a route.”
III. DISCUSSION
ELECTRIC CIRCUIT
2. O A complete pathwhere electricityflowsfromthe source tothe load.
THE FOUR ESSENTIALPARTSOF ELECTRIC CIRCUIT
A. Source – provide the electrical pressureinthe circuit.
Example:
Battery & ACoutlet
B. Conductingpath – bringsthe electricitytowardsload.
Example:
Metal conductor
C. Controllingdevice/switch –controlsthe flow of electricity,
dependinguponthe discretionof the operator.
D. Load – convertselectricityto otherformof energy.
Example:
Electricmotor,lightbulb.Television,refrigerator,etc.
I. TYPES OF ELECTRIC CIRCUIT
There are twotypesof electriccircuit, calledseriesandparallel.
The componentsina circuitare joinedbywires.
if there are nobranchesthenit's a series circuit
if there are branchesit'sa parallel circuit
A. Seriescircuits
In a televisionseries,yougetseveral episodes,one afterthe other.A seriescircuitissimilar.Youget
several componentsone afterthe other.
If you followthe circuitdiagramfrom one side of the cell tothe other, you shouldpassthroughall the
differentcomponents,one afterthe other,withoutanybranches.
If you put more lampsintoa seriescircuit, the lampswill be dimmerthanbefore.
3. In a seriescircuit,if alampbreaks or a componentisdisconnected,the circuitisbrokenandall the
componentsstopworking.
Seriescircuitsare useful if youwanta warningthatone of the componentsinthe circuithasfailed. They
alsouse lesswiringthanparallel circuits.
B. Parallel circuits
In parallel circuitsdifferentcomponentsare connectedondifferentbranchesof the wire.If youfollow
the circuitdiagram fromone side of the cell to the other, youcan onlypass throughall the different
componentsif youfollowall the branches.
In a parallel circuit,if alampbreaksor a componentisdisconnectedfromone parallel wire,the
componentsondifferentbranches keepworking.And,unlike aseriescircuit,the lampsstaybrightif you
add more lampsinparallel.
Parallel circuitsare useful if youwanteverythingtowork, evenif one componenthasfailed.Thisiswhy
our homesare wiredupwithparallel circuits.
IV. APPLICATION
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
Providedwithmaterials.Letthe studentsassemble the four(4) essential partsof
electriccircuit.Instructionsandsafetyrulesmustbe discussedbefore the activitystarts. The
performance will be judgeusingthe followingcriteria.

V. EVALUATION
IDINTIFICATION:
O Direction:Identifythe followingitemsbeingaskedin the sentence.Write
your answeronthe space provided.
1. It controlsthe flow of electrons.
2. It providespressure inthe circuit.
3. It allowsindividualtoregulate electricity.
4. It convertselectricityintootherformsof energy.
5. It isa complete pathwhere electricityflows.
ENUMERATION:
O Direction:Enumerate the followingitemsbeingasked.
1-4 Essential partsof electrical circuit.
5- 8 Examples of loadinelectriccircuit.
8-10 Typesof electriccircuit
VI. ASSIGNMENT
- In a ¼ sheetof padpaper,explainwhatwill happentothe electriccircuitif the
electricitywill returntothe source withoutpassingthe load. 10pts.
