• Specific frequency band and polarization
• Specific orbital slot
• Specific transmit/receive areas on earth.
• Most orbital slots are now fully taken in C and Ku bands –
The most useful bands.
How can an operator grow in this highly tight and regulated
environment?

11. A quick cook-book on how to earn an
Orbital slot : A Real-estate in space
• Gather relevant information on filings, current and future satellites.
• Locate and file several optional orbital slots about to become
relatively free in the next few years.
• When you gain highest priority in an orbital slot – coordinate it with
its existing close neighbors and protect it.
• Bring it into use in form of an operating satellite within 7 years from
first filing.
Without careful handling of an orbital slot –
hundreds of M$ worth of a satellite can become useless in orbit

12. Cook book for being a satellite
operator:
• Bring in a lot of money
• Don’t bother to get in if you don’t possess at least one decent
orbital slot.
• Orbital slots can be bought.
• Bring in a lot of money for that
• Build on a strong anchor customer
• Expect to get paid back in 6 to 8 years if all goes well
