Why UI & UX Strategies Are Critical for Measuring KPIs and Improving SAP Processes
1. Why
UI
+
UX
Strategies
Are
Very
Important
to
Improve
the
process
Utilization
and
to
Measure
the
Business
Critical
Key
Performance
Indicators
(KPI)?
Most
of
the
enterprises
are
facing
challenges
to
measure
the
business
critical
Key
Performance
Indicators
(KPI)
through
SAP.
It
is
going
to
be
on-‐going
task
to
identify
the
process
gaps,
enhancements
or
analyze
the
root
causes
to
fix
it.
It
is
always
very
important
to
consider
the
user
experience
towards
change
in
the
existing
process
or
enhancements
or
implementing
the
new
process
across
different
lines
of
business
requirements.
The
user
experience
connects
design
thinking,
which
ultimately
results
the
enterprises
to
maximize
the
greater
application
usage
by
the
end-‐
users
to
drive
business
success.
Many
of
the
projects
are
implemented
with
not
much
importance
has
been
given
to
the
end
user
focused
adoption
with
"User
Design
Guidelines
Principles
and
Strategies",
mostly
the
end
users
are
influenced
with
strong
change
management
approach
from
the
top
management
towards
new
implementation
or
change
in
the
existing
business
processes.
Ultimately
the
end-‐user
expectations
and
issues
related
to
the
application
usage
towards
the
user
interface
(UI)
and
user
experience
(UX)
are
not
given
much
importance
or
ignored
by
the
top
management.
It
is
important
for
enterprises
to
analyze,
how
the
current
SAP
business
process
has
been
utilized
and
which
important
processes
have
not
been
used
much
related
to
measure
the
important
business
2. KPIs.
This
is
critical
to
measure
and
monitor
the
existing
bottlenecks
of
system
usage
from
the
end-‐users
focused
approach
to
address
it.
The
higher
executions
of
transactions
and
usage
is
not
important
for
the
enterprise,
but
it
is
very
critical
to
capture
the
business
critical
data
and
information
towards
to
measure
the
“Business
Critical
KPI
Measures”
by
adopting
the
“Best
in
Breed
UI
and
UX
Strategies”.
The
current
SAP
ECC
traditional
transactions
have
been
built
with
so
many
screens
and
tab
views
which
really
more
complex
for
the
enterprise
to
maximize
the
user
experience
for
the
end-‐users.
For
example,
to
create
a
purchase
order
using
the
transaction
ME21N
is
more
complex
with
many
clicks
to
complete
the
full-‐cycle
of
the
purchase
order
processing,
including
the
approving
of
the
purchase
order
using
the
transaction
ME29N.
Current
Fiori
design
thinking
concept
really
splits
the
traditional
SAP
purchase
order
transactions
and
approval
steps
into
different
“Role-‐
based”
Apps
through
various
environments
like
desktop,
tablets
and
mobile
which
ultimately
increase
process
efficiency,
productivity
and
greater
user-‐adoption
to
achieve
the
enterprise
strategic
business
goals
in
the
long-‐term.
3. Below
are
the
important
key
elements
which
needs
to
be
considered
to
develop
and
implement
a
very
good
application
deployment:
“Higher
satisfaction
leads
to
loyalty
and
revenues
(with
customers)
and
cost
savings
and
productivity
gains
(with
employees)”.
A
great
UI
can
lead
to
a
great
experience,
UI
is
about
the
look,
but
UX
is
about
functionality
and
satisfaction.
The
key
point
is
that
the
enterprises
must
put
purposeful
and
effective
"UX
+
UI”
strategies
along
with
an
effective
SAP
business
process
solutions
to
achieve
everything
together
through
“End-‐User
Focused
with
Greater
Involvement”,
even
though
it
is
a
minor
or
major
process
enhancements
or
new
project
implementation
or
change
in
the
process
towards
continuous
improvement
or
gaining
process
4. efficiencies
or
migrating
from
SAP
GUI
to
Mobile/Tablet
(Native
or
Hybrid
Apps)
or
WEB
solutions
towards
latest
SAP
solutions
using
SAP
UI5
or
Fiori.
Listening
to
the
"End
User"
issues
and
bottlenecks
towards
each
process
steps
with
user
design
principles
and
concepts
which
will
help
the
enterprises
to
achieve
the
higher
“End-‐User”
satisfaction
that
leads
to
cost
savings
(reduce
training
costs)
and
productivity
gains.
It
is
also
important
for
the
enterprise
to
measure
the
UX
impact
matrix
related
to
the
productivity,
training
cost,
data
quality
and
process
solution
accuracy.
