Artificial intelligence seems poised to remake what it means to be human. We struggle with how human to make our machines, at the same time as we struggle with how to maintain our own humanity. Without emotion, we won’t even get close. The convergence of affective computing and AI will bring us toward an era of emotionally intelligent machines.
