Transforming Healthcare,
Transforming Lives
2. THE LATEST ADVANCES IN HEALTHCARE
The GPU Technology Conference (GTC) brings together the leading minds in AI and
healthcare that are driving advances in the industry - from top radiology departments and
medical research institutions to the hottest startups from around the world.
3. A MEETING OF THE MINDS IN MEDICINE
The conference, held March 18th to 21st in San Jose, will feature 40+ dedicated
healthcare sessions covering genomics, medical imaging and computational
chemistry. Presentations will include five of the top seven radiology departments in
the country, and four of the top five research medical universities.
4. With over 1,200 peer-reviewed articles and more than
200,000 citations, Dr. Eric Topol, the founder and
director of Scripps Research Translational Institute, was
named a top 10 most-cited researcher in medicine and
elected to the National Academy of Medicine.
Hear his perspective on how AI improves health
systems, empowers clinicians, and provides patients
access to better, quality care.

5. Data - the backbone of generating accurate models
in medical imaging. The problem - the lack of it.
At GTC, Johns Hopkins University, Subtle Medical,
and Tel Aviv University will present data
augmentation techniques for healthcare applications
and how they overcame the challenge of data
sparsity.

6. GPU technologies have ushered in a new wave of
medical possibilities.
Reduced MRI scan times with increased reconstruction
accuracy, simulating photon trajectories in nuclear
medical imaging, and real-time simulations of the
physics behind thermal tumor ablation are just the
beginning.
Explore the potential of HPC to drive medical imaging
innovation with Ne-Scientific, Mediso Ltd. and COMSATS
University Islamabad.

7. Integrating AI into hospitals has the potential to
enhance operational efficiencies and improve patient
outcomes.
Listen to MGH & BWH Center for Clinical Data Science
and Nuance Communications describe how high-
performance computing, artificial intelligence, and
photo-realistic rendering are revolutionizing medical
imaging.

8. This class will focus on basic concepts and pitfalls of
training convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and walk
the attendee through a working example. This course
will use a data set we created, that we call 'MedNIST'
and consists of 1000 images each from 5 different
categories: Chest X-ray, hand X-ray, Head CT, Chest CT,
Abdomen CT, and Breast MRI.

9. This training will focus on the use of deep learning
methods for segmentation, with particular emphasis on
3D techniques (V-Nets) applied to the challenge of MR
brain segmentation. While focus on this particular
problem, the concepts should generalize to other organs
and image types.

10. Getting large datasets are important for most deep
learning applications, especially in medical imaging.
Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) are a deep
learning technology in which a computer is trained to
create images that look very “real” even though they
are completely synthetic. Learn how GANs can help
solve the data shortage problem in medicine.
